00:00:00.000 Leave the internet alone. It ain't broke, so you don't need to fix it. And even if it was broke,
00:00:13.340 government would not be the place that would be tasked with fixing the internet. And yet the
00:00:18.640 government, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Heritage Minister Stephen Guaubo, they can't
00:00:23.400 help themselves. They are obsessed with regulating and censoring the internet, finding every
00:00:29.080 opportunity they can, every argument they can. Canadians are quite rightly frustrated at the
00:00:34.880 proposed Bill C-10 that could, well, I'm not even sure at this point what it could do, because
00:00:39.880 Stephen Guaubo doesn't seem like he's sure what it can do, what the plan of it is, what he plans to do
00:00:45.160 with it. Because he's made a number of gaffes or confusing remarks trying to explain this legislation,
00:00:51.760 and then after he makes a media appearance and there's a bit of public outrage about it, his office
00:00:56.320 will send out a statement clarifying, but then he'll make another remark that'll get him in hot
00:00:59.980 water and so forth. What are you trying to do with Bill C-10? It's going to give new powers to the
00:01:05.260 CRTC that could see them being enabled, empowered to go and regulate and censor the internet and even
00:01:11.320 user-generated content. There's a lot of controversy about that. Little details in the legislation that
00:01:17.880 would have meant they can poke around into people's YouTube, TikTok videos, Twitter videos,
00:01:22.760 and all of that. They're trying to calm the waters in all of that, but I still think we need to go back to the
00:01:27.700 government and say, what's the purpose of all of this in the first place? Now, the liberals say, oh, it's a bad
00:01:34.440 place out there, the internet. Lots of people getting up to things they shouldn't be, and we want to get
00:01:38.820 involved in all of that. They've said that in other contexts, too, not just in terms of Bill C-10. And they have a
00:01:44.500 point. There are certainly things that happen on the internet. There are illegal things that happen on the
00:01:49.240 internet. But, you know, they're already illegal. There are already laws that have been designed to
00:01:54.120 deal with that. So if you, for instance, threaten someone over Facebook, say, or over Twitter, well,
00:02:00.040 you can be held accountable for that. If you post illegal content, well, you can be prosecuted. They
00:02:05.580 can track you down. You will face consequences for that. Copyright issues can already be addressed
00:02:10.560 based on laws that are currently on the books, as they should be. It's actually not a Wild West out
00:02:15.820 there on the internet. There are laws out there governing one's conduct. Now, there's obviously
00:02:20.380 a lot of people who say rude and inappropriate things, have ideas and opinions that you may
00:02:24.880 disagree with. But you know what? That's the adult world, and you've got to wake up every morning and
00:02:28.940 put on your big boy pants and go out and face that world. So we've got a lot of things already illegal.
00:02:34.380 We've got other things that you may not approve of, but, well, you know, that's life. Like how on
00:02:38.660 Twitter you see people saying things that you go, oh, I don't share those views, or I don't care for
00:02:42.840 that. You could walk into any bar in any town, and you could see people rambling on about this,
00:02:47.820 that, and the other. That's kind of what it's comparable to. So what is the point of Bill C-10?
00:02:53.620 What sort of problems do the liberals actually think they're trying to solve? And that's what a lot
00:02:58.660 of people and a lot of experts in these issues are already saying. Just back off the whole thing.
00:03:04.740 We do not need the government getting its tentacles into the internet more than it already has,
00:03:09.800 because, well, it's a road that you head down, and, well, when will they ever stop going down
00:03:14.360 that path once they're empowered to do these sorts of things that they're proposing?
00:03:18.620 So Canadians should be concerned, and it's good to hear that so many of them already are.
