00:00:00.000 Welcome to Canada's Most Irreverent Talk Show.
00:00:05.020 This is the Andrew Lawton Show, brought to you by True North.
00:00:10.420 Coming up, the man CBC says lost everything because of the Freedom Convoy joins me to tell his story.
00:00:17.860 The Andrew Lawton Show starts right now.
00:00:21.520 Welcome to the Andrew Lawton Show. This is Canada's Most Irreverent Talk Show here on True North.
00:00:27.220 The Freedom Convoy may have packed up and left Ottawa just over a month ago, but the story very much lives on.
00:00:34.720 And the mainstream media's insistence on vilifying and maligning the convoy certainly persists.
00:00:40.740 It's a favoured pastime of CBC and CTV.
00:00:44.620 Now, last week on the show, I mentioned these tandem stories that came from the state broadcaster and CTV,
00:00:51.260 featuring a man by the name of Martin Joseph Englehart, who said that he regretted going to the convoy
00:00:57.020 and that he lost all of his life savings as a result.
00:01:01.220 The narrative behind this was that he went there, he knew that all of these millions of dollars were being donated to people on GoFundMe
00:01:08.860 and then later on Give, Send, Go, and he decided he would just help out.
00:01:12.780 He had some money in the bank, he was giving folks money for gas, for other costs,
00:01:17.080 and then he just wasn't able to get any reimbursement because of the freezes that took place.
00:01:23.040 And if you look at the CBC and CTV narrative, the fact that the organizers were apparently pocketing the money or something like that.
00:01:30.880 Now, when this story came out last week, and we hadn't really seen it percolate for all that long,
00:01:36.200 I had said that I thought the government was to blame because it was the government that made it impossible
00:01:41.080 for people like Martin Joseph Englehart to be reimbursed.
00:01:45.280 It was the government that made it effectively illegal to transfer and possess convoy-related donations.
00:01:52.320 Well, in the few days since that show and now, the story has gotten a heck of a lot more complicated
00:01:57.900 because folks have shared their own stories online and have said that they gave Martin Joseph Englehart money,
00:02:04.700 that they met him in Ottawa and he told them that he had had a rough patch in life and they were giving him money.
00:02:12.560 Screenshots from his bank accounts have circulated, which he himself shared to someone who then passed it on to other people.
00:02:18.800 And these accounts show money going in and out, both directions, e-transfers in the thousands of dollars.
00:02:25.360 And then you had a thread from a Fox News producer who works with Tucker Carlson,
00:02:30.880 really pointing to CBC's negligence, their refusal to verify even basic details of Martin's story,
00:02:37.360 like, for example, when he claims that his account was frozen.
00:02:41.120 When the government itself, not that I trust the government all that much,
00:02:44.180 but the government says that it froze a little over 200 accounts and all of those have now been unfrozen.
00:02:50.500 And yet that detail apparently escaped the CBC and CTV reporters who wrote these stories.
00:02:55.960 So there's a lot to this and it's very relevant because what we have here is not just lazy journalism,
00:03:02.140 but journalism that's being done deliberately to cast this convoy movement in a bad light.
00:03:08.120 And in doing so, elevate a story of a person that has questions about the validity of that story
00:03:13.960 from other people that were involved in the convoy.
00:03:16.660 Now, we don't shy away from the difficult discussions on this show.
00:03:20.160 Joining me now is that man himself, featured in that story, Martin Joseph Engelhardt.
00:03:24.880 Martin, thank you for joining me today. It's good to speak with you.
00:03:28.060 You're welcome.
00:03:29.680 You became, I mean, in the last week or so, a bit of a household name among a lot of sectors of the population here.
00:03:36.820 Two major stories, one in CBC and one in CTV, both had a very similar narrative.
00:03:43.200 And I just shared it with my listeners, but just to get on the same page here, the story was that you went along with the convoy.
00:03:50.400 You, as a result of thinking you were going to be reimbursed by people there, by the donations that were coming in,
00:03:55.880 were giving money to people, something in the range of $13,000.
00:04:00.240 The story says that you lost your life savings and had regrets about being a part of it.
00:04:04.960 Now, you reached out to me very soon after these stories came out, and I talked about them briefly on the show last week
00:04:11.080 and said that this did not reflect the conversations that you had with those reporters
00:04:15.860 and also didn't reflect your overall experiences.
00:04:18.780 So I wanted to reach out an invitation to you in general to come on and tell your side of the story.
00:04:23.900 And then as people were talking about your story, more people came forward with their own interactions with you
00:04:29.980 that I also wanted to get you to respond to.
00:04:32.200 But let's start first off at the very beginning here.
00:04:35.100 What brought you to the convoy?
00:04:37.000 What got you involved in this in the first place?
00:04:40.400 Well, I...
00:04:43.720 Okay, first of all, my business partner and my best friend died in June 26, 2020.
00:04:51.860 And I begged the security guard to let me upstairs to go see him.
00:04:55.320 They wouldn't let me because of COVID.
00:04:56.560 And when he died, I actually roamed everywhere in Canada.
00:05:03.340 I'd been so lost in my life.
00:05:05.000 I lost pretty much the only person that ever believed in me.
00:05:09.140 And for the past few years, I've been very alone with no friends, no family, and I isolated.
00:05:17.260 So the convoy was maybe a sign of hope.
00:05:21.680 And in the meantime, I wanted to do something nice with my life.
00:05:29.800 Like, I always told, I became born again, so I have my Bible in the car, but I tried to help as many people as possible.
00:05:41.340 I tried to do something nice, so, you know, for people.
00:05:45.960 Like, I just wanted to help.
00:05:47.380 There's nothing left to it, and I owed it to Sunny to be there.
00:05:51.980 And when did you join the convoy?
00:05:56.720 When and where, I should say?
00:06:00.240 I drove back to Alberta.
00:06:02.960 Like, I have two houses, so I have one in Alberta, and I have one in Quebec.
00:06:09.120 And I always bounce from one to the other.
00:06:11.200 So I drove back to Alberta, joined the convoy, and I drove back to Ottawa with them.
00:06:15.140 And when I got to Ottawa, I went to Van Nick Hill, and I had the van full of food and everything.
00:06:23.300 And for six hours, I drove everywhere, delivering, like, sandwiches and food to everybody.
00:06:28.900 And I went back to Ottawa.
00:06:31.780 And do you still have those residences in Quebec and Alberta?
00:06:36.220 Not in Quebec, and none in Alberta.
00:06:38.600 And what happened?
00:06:39.380 In Quebec, I decided to left because I, after, like, everything that happened in Ottawa,
00:06:49.280 like, my account being frozen, and, like, everything that happened, I'd rather walk away so I don't
00:06:55.300 cause trouble to anybody.
00:06:57.860 And the landlord I had in Alberta didn't agree with my point of view either, and didn't accept
00:07:03.380 receiving a call from the cops.
00:07:05.020 So we kind of resigned our contract.
00:07:08.420 We had the month-to-month contract.
00:07:11.400 But you chose to give up your home in Quebec.
00:07:14.860 No one else took that from you?
00:07:16.940 No, there is nobody that did that.
00:07:19.280 I did that, so I don't create problems for anybody.
00:07:23.200 Okay, so you joined the convoy.
00:07:26.100 You get there.
00:07:26.740 I was in Ottawa the very first weekend.
00:07:28.720 I know it was a big party.
00:07:29.980 Everyone was excited.
00:07:31.040 Everyone was happy to be there.
00:07:32.320 It sounds like you had a level of community that you had been missing.
00:07:36.700 What started happening for you that speaks to that regret you had about your experience?
00:07:42.520 At what point did this thing start becoming a problem for you?
00:07:46.560 Well, it's not becoming a problem.
00:07:48.900 The thing is, is I always had a hard time fitting in with everybody in my life.
00:07:54.300 And I always never felt right anywhere.
00:07:57.620 Even when I go to church, I sit alone in my corner and I always tell myself I don't belong there.
00:08:03.320 But the thing is, is I know this sounds stupid, but in Ottawa it was very clicky.
00:08:10.140 So I remember one night I tried to go in one of the tent and they told me like I couldn't get my computer equipment because I wasn't part of like the team or whatever.
00:08:19.880 And I got pushed out of the tent, fell head first, broke my glasses, and I tried to do my things after that on my own when we got smarmed by the cops, like thousands of cops at Coventry that night.
00:08:32.040 And after that broke my glasses, I was like, this is enough.
00:08:35.120 I just started doing my own group and my own things.
00:08:37.780 But for the first week I was there, there was, the problem is it was a free fall.
00:08:43.940 Nobody knew what the right hand and the left hand was doing.
00:08:47.620 And we had, at the beginning we had road captains and we didn't have road captains after and we were supposed to have a sheet to respect the piece.
00:08:54.660 But there was so many moving parts over there, it was pretty much impossible to keep track of everything.
00:09:01.580 When did you start spending money in Ottawa and sharing money with others, which was the, really the prime focus of those CBC and CTV articles, is that you were giving money to people on the belief that you were going to get reimbursed?
00:09:16.520 Well, I'm not going to say his last name, but I have one of the guy at first, like, if he listens, his name is Robert.
00:09:26.180 He said, yeah, keep your receipt, put everything together.
00:09:28.740 But the thing is, it's not anybody's fault.
00:09:30.820 Like, everything got seized.
00:09:34.140 The problem is, is, like, there was so many moving parts.
00:09:39.200 So, I got people who say, well, we need gas, we need this.
00:09:42.980 So, I transfer money, I pull out $1,500 in my account.
00:09:47.840 You know, before I got to Ottawa, like, all my paycheck and all my deposit, my Upwork, I do Upwork and Fiverr, which is freelance IT.
00:09:57.240 Total about maybe $16,000.
00:10:00.820 So, on that $16,000, I hold some client about $4,000 on this, because I never finish the work.
00:10:08.620 But the thing is, is, like, I give money to people, I make them sign receipts, I give them gas, I went to the truck stop, fill up slip tank.
00:10:18.400 And after that, I did things on my own with my van, I fill up jerrycane of gas and I deliver gas to people.
00:10:27.220 So, until February 14th, my account got frozen, and it's still frozen today.
00:10:33.740 And I had a video on Facebook, YouTube, yesterday.
00:10:36.780 And, like, I deleted it because it's not, it's illegal to record.
00:10:42.880 But, yeah, this is, I spend a lot of money helping people, and I don't regret this.
00:10:49.640 I don't regret anything that happened in Ottawa.
00:10:53.740 I just regret what happened after Ottawa.
00:10:56.520 Let's go back to your account being frozen, because the government has said that all the accounts that it froze under the Emergencies Act,
00:11:06.400 so the, you know, Justin Trudeau saying we don't want people giving money to the truckers, all of those have been unfrozen.
00:11:11.560 Now, you just mentioned something right now, that your account was frozen and remains frozen to this day.
00:11:16.520 What do you mean by that exactly?
00:11:18.200 Okay, so, N-Track is a separate entity of the bank.
00:11:24.380 You know that, right?
00:11:25.420 Yeah.
00:11:26.260 So, I received an N-Track, and one of the N-Track was declared fraudulent by N-Track.
00:11:32.260 The email address was used with Organizer and was used by other people.
00:11:37.320 That's what they told me.
00:11:39.080 And I have the recording.
00:11:40.340 I can send you the video from yesterday.
00:11:43.140 Yeah, no, I saw that video.
00:11:44.900 And in that video, it sounds like you're telling them that the account was frozen for that reason, not the other way around.
00:11:52.540 What do you mean?
00:11:54.680 Well, it sounds like you're drawing a conclusion about what that freeze was, and not them saying.
00:12:00.880 The fraudulent aspect of this has nothing to do with the fact that it was convoy.
00:12:05.080 This is just a general fraud prevention thing that banks do when they require you to verify your identity.
00:12:11.300 The thing is, the money that's frozen in my account was received on February 7th.
00:12:19.560 Yes.
00:12:20.560 And that money froze total my account.
00:12:23.780 So, every transfer I got after that, everything got frozen.
00:12:28.480 So, is your belief that you don't have access to any of your bank accounts right now at all, or is it just one specific account?
00:12:34.000 I can access, I can access one bank account.
00:12:38.580 The other one I opened when I get to Alberta is open right now.
00:12:43.420 And they're, so here's the thing.
00:12:46.560 So, people say I have multiple bank accounts.
00:12:49.040 I'm transferring money everywhere.
00:12:50.520 I just wish I had one person that would walk with me in the bank to prove what I was saying.
00:12:58.040 Because, yes, they, like, everybody's saying some dumb shit about me, and I have all my bank statements.
00:13:05.040 I receive only one payment from one person over there that I give a right to at Walmart, which was $1,000.
00:13:12.040 And I have that in my account.
00:13:15.140 The rest, all payment going out and two payment coming in.
00:13:19.480 One guy that was Alexander Let's You Live that stays at home that was never in Coventry.
00:13:24.800 And the other one is from a client.
00:13:28.280 Okay.
00:13:30.520 Carry on.
00:13:31.860 When I left Ottawa, I had a meeting at Ark Hotel with a guy named, I'll call him T, because he probably will recognize himself.
00:13:42.040 And he said, yeah, we know you did some good work.
00:13:44.620 There's no worry.
00:13:45.660 We'll take care of you.
00:13:46.900 Follow the filling.
00:13:48.060 Like, I gave him all the receipts.
00:13:49.440 They put it in a yellow sheet.
00:13:51.700 And they gave me one of them.
00:13:54.360 I helped him get a laptop with his wife.
00:13:56.720 He gave me $1,000 of his own money.
00:13:58.940 And $2,000 came from one of the organizers.
00:14:06.460 Okay.
00:14:07.000 So, you've talked there about receiving money from other people.
00:14:11.000 So, how much did you receive from others in Ottawa?
00:14:16.460 Total.
00:14:17.000 The one from the guy, I don't remember his name, Dave, I think.
00:14:23.700 Yeah.
00:14:23.960 And he recorded a YouTube video sharing that he gave you $1,000.
00:14:27.580 Yeah.
00:14:27.940 He gave me $1,000.
00:14:28.820 And I can pull out my bank account and I can do a printout to e-transfer and go to Scotia right now.
00:14:39.000 I can take a picture, write live.
00:14:41.080 And there's no e-transfer came from anybody.
00:14:43.400 So, you say that the only money that you received was $1,000?
00:14:48.360 $1,000.
00:14:49.860 That's it.
00:14:50.640 Nothing else.
00:14:51.780 Nothing else.
00:14:52.460 So, when my account was frozen on the 14th, I did the recording, the 30 minutes video on the recording.
00:14:59.700 I opened the bank account with RBC.
00:15:04.660 I first received $1,000 from Mike.
00:15:07.360 And after that, he tried to resend me another $2,000.
00:15:12.600 The $2,000 we had issued like so much, try to resend it.
00:15:16.500 We probably resend it five times.
00:15:17.960 It didn't work.
00:15:18.500 So, finally, I pulled the $1,000 you sent me, closed the account.
00:15:25.520 I went to another bank.
00:15:27.340 And I opened an account there.
00:15:28.980 And I put the $2,000.
00:15:30.520 And I reclosed that account.
00:15:32.360 And I went to ATB.
00:15:36.140 Because ATB has a...
00:15:42.260 Yeah.
00:15:43.120 Sorry.
00:15:47.260 Debit visa.
00:15:48.500 National Bank doesn't have...
00:15:52.040 National Bank doesn't have...
00:15:55.040 Like, National Bank doesn't have debit visa.
00:15:58.940 It's just a plain card.
00:15:59.960 So, I use my debit visa to purchase like hosting for web design and everything.
00:16:05.040 But you said now that you received $2,000 from someone.
00:16:08.140 But a few moments ago, you said you only received $1,000.
00:16:11.120 No.
00:16:11.400 I received one on February.
00:16:14.080 February 7th, I received $1,000 from Dave.
00:16:16.980 Okay.
00:16:17.260 February 5th, I received $200 from a guy that stayed at home.
00:16:22.220 Because I had the post on...
00:16:23.800 I never asked for money.
00:16:25.420 But I had the post on Facebook.
00:16:26.820 And it's a guy that never went to Ottawa.
00:16:29.780 And he sent me $200.
00:16:32.280 February 14th, when my account was frozen, I got $1,000 from Mike.
00:16:37.380 And I can give you his phone number.
00:16:38.860 And he gave me...
00:16:39.800 He sent me...
00:16:40.580 He gave me another $2,000.
00:16:42.460 The first $1,000 went into RBC.
00:16:44.980 And RBC was closed.
00:16:46.260 Because they said that it was weird that I received two...
00:16:51.520 The only transaction that came in my account in 24 hours was two e-transfer.
00:16:56.220 So I took the $1,000 and I pulled it out.
00:17:01.220 And...
00:17:01.600 No, wait.
00:17:02.100 I have TN also that offered me another deposit, which was $250.
00:17:07.820 Okay, so how much...
00:17:11.860 Here's the thing, though.
00:17:12.880 Because you mentioned right there.
00:17:14.340 So TD said this account wasn't legitimate.
00:17:17.800 Because they thought your account was not legitimate, rather.
00:17:20.500 But then you said you took that money out still.
00:17:23.420 Yes, I took...
00:17:24.860 So RBC offered...
00:17:25.980 You're describing a lot more than $1,000 here.
00:17:28.480 We're up to at least $4,250, are we not?
00:17:31.640 Yes, but I'm explaining.
00:17:33.200 So Dave sent me $1,000 on February 7th.
00:17:37.820 On the 14th, I got $1,000 from Mike.
00:17:41.120 And after that, they told me I start driving west.
00:17:45.220 I would...
00:17:45.620 This car here.
00:17:46.820 And they sent me another $2,000.
00:17:49.360 That went to a national bank.
00:17:51.960 Which account I don't use anymore.
00:17:54.940 Does that make sense?
00:17:56.060 Yes.
00:17:56.440 So when I was in Ottawa on the 14th, I got $1,000 from Mike.
00:17:59.620 I can give you his phone number and $250 from TN.
00:18:02.780 And they told me...
00:18:03.920 Like, when I started driving, I had to pay the taxes
00:18:06.560 and the plates on this car and the entrance.
00:18:09.860 They sent me another $2,000,
00:18:11.960 which I used for hotel and gas to get back.
00:18:16.020 This is the only money I got from Ottawa.
00:18:18.360 Okay.
00:18:19.680 I've heard that people offered to
00:18:22.180 and actually paid for a hotel for you in Ottawa as well.
00:18:24.840 Is that true?
00:18:25.360 Yes, but why would I take a hotel room?
00:18:29.020 I'm sorry to say, but why would I take it?
00:18:32.280 Okay.
00:18:33.020 I'm sorry.
00:18:33.860 Some people will hate me for what I'm going to say.
00:18:36.220 But I found it unfair that main organizer
00:18:38.880 would stay in a five-star hotel
00:18:40.240 when volunteer and trucker would sleep
00:18:43.000 in their truck in the cold.
00:18:43.980 I found it that I didn't have the same right to do this.
00:18:51.380 Does it make sense?
00:18:53.460 Like, if they had...
00:18:54.140 So did you stay in a hotel at all in Ottawa?
00:18:57.860 No, never once.
00:18:59.260 Okay.
00:18:59.600 So you never slept in a hotel room at all in Ottawa,
00:19:02.300 you're saying?
00:19:03.000 No.
00:19:03.440 I stayed in my van the whole time.
00:19:05.380 And the people...
00:19:05.980 So the people that have said to me
00:19:07.580 that they know that you had received a hotel room
00:19:10.580 are misinformed or are not telling the truth.
00:19:14.080 Yes, I never stayed in a hotel once.
00:19:17.460 Okay.
00:19:18.240 I never ever stayed in a hotel once.
00:19:20.320 I wouldn't go to a hotel
00:19:22.000 because people on the ground
00:19:23.940 would be in their van like me.
00:19:27.920 And I found it unfair to go in a hotel.
00:19:31.960 Does that make sense?
00:19:33.280 And people have also said, Martin,
00:19:34.920 that they handed you cash when you were there
00:19:37.440 because, you know, they heard your story.
00:19:39.020 They were trying to be helpful.
00:19:41.060 There was a lot of cash going around.
00:19:42.780 And obviously, you didn't describe
00:19:44.040 when you were talking about
00:19:45.060 the amounts that you received by e-transfers cash.
00:19:47.760 Did individuals in Ottawa give you cash?
00:19:53.240 If I recall, no.
00:19:55.520 If you recall?
00:19:57.400 Yeah, I can't because I had my money
00:19:59.340 before I got there.
00:20:00.800 I can pull out...
00:20:01.900 Oh, I can pull out everything I had
00:20:04.460 before I came to Ottawa.
00:20:06.660 I didn't need anything from anybody.
00:20:09.020 The only reason they gave me $1,000
00:20:12.920 is because I told them
00:20:14.120 that I started depleting everything
00:20:15.920 to help everybody.
00:20:17.900 And I still had about $3,000 that day,
00:20:20.880 I think, or something.
00:20:22.800 And I had more money coming in from Upwork.
00:20:26.640 There were screenshots from your account,
00:20:29.500 Scotiabank account specifically,
00:20:31.200 that you shared.
00:20:32.400 And I mean, whoever you shared it to,
00:20:34.120 it's been circulating among journalists.
00:20:35.580 And I made sure before we spoke
00:20:37.260 to send you these images
00:20:38.220 and ask if they were authentic,
00:20:39.540 which you said they were.
00:20:41.180 And again, this is just one Scotiabank account.
00:20:43.380 But when I look at this,
00:20:44.580 I'm seeing a lot of e-transfers
00:20:46.260 that are going out and then being cancelled.
00:20:48.340 So they're going out
00:20:49.260 and immediately coming back into your account.
00:20:51.540 What is the story here?
00:20:52.860 Is this money that was not actually
00:20:54.920 leaving your account
00:20:55.720 and not actually going to anyone?
00:20:57.680 No, all my e-transfers.
00:20:59.820 So if you send the e-transfer to somebody
00:21:01.840 that don't get the right answer,
00:21:03.200 the e-transfer is cancelled.
00:21:06.700 Does it make sense?
00:21:07.520 So people weren't accepting
00:21:08.520 these e-transfers then?
00:21:09.640 When I see, you know, for example,
00:21:11.560 on whatever day it is here.
00:21:13.800 If you look at my bank statement,
00:21:16.900 I only highlight the statement that went out.
00:21:21.180 If you look at the column,
00:21:22.700 the money that went out at the bottom,
00:21:24.460 the fourth page,
00:21:26.300 it says $12,000 went out,
00:21:28.420 $6,000 went in.
00:21:29.700 On the $6,000,
00:21:30.680 I think I have like $4,000 in payout.
00:21:33.200 Yes, and I see here
00:21:36.860 a lot of the money that went out
00:21:38.680 is point-of-sale purchases.
00:21:41.460 There are ABM withdrawals there.
00:21:44.200 There are purchases at a place
00:21:45.780 called Herb's Travel Plaza.
00:21:48.180 Now, is there anyone that can attest
00:21:50.380 that the things that you were spending money on
00:21:53.020 or the transfers that you were sending
00:21:54.900 were going to other people?
00:21:57.040 Yes.
00:21:58.580 Who can corroborate that?
00:22:00.260 Because right now we have
00:22:01.300 some people that are saying
00:22:02.700 that they were sending you money
00:22:04.400 and you have you saying
00:22:06.040 that you were giving money
00:22:06.940 to other people.
00:22:08.380 Look, I sent yesterday
00:22:10.860 all my stub and everything.
00:22:14.020 I can pull it right live in front of you
00:22:16.340 and record my screen while I'm doing it.
00:22:18.640 There must be an app for it.
00:22:20.300 But I mean people.
00:22:21.040 People that you can connect me to
00:22:23.000 that I could get on the phone
00:22:24.140 that would say,
00:22:24.900 yes, Martin gave me $1,000.
00:22:27.200 Martin gave me however much.
00:22:28.820 I don't know their name.
00:22:32.580 I know they were there,
00:22:34.060 but I don't know their name.
00:22:35.020 This is what I meant.
00:22:36.920 Like, do you know how many people
00:22:38.600 was over in Ottawa?
00:22:40.420 No, it was massive.
00:22:41.640 And like I said, it was massive.
00:22:42.920 And I also have heard
00:22:43.660 from a number of people
00:22:44.840 that there was so much trust and goodwill
00:22:46.680 that money was going back and forth
00:22:48.620 because a lot of people did,
00:22:49.840 to your credit,
00:22:50.800 say that they thought
00:22:51.660 that everyone was going to be made whole again.
00:22:53.520 Yeah, but I, you know,
00:22:56.280 I didn't say,
00:22:57.440 I never say I regret going to Ottawa.
00:22:59.100 I regret what happened after.
00:23:02.240 I regret what happened after.
00:23:04.820 You know, people say,
00:23:05.700 oh, I have tons of money.
00:23:07.460 I can give you access to my ATB right now.
00:23:10.520 And from the day I open it to today,
00:23:13.900 I never get any donation from anybody.
00:23:17.280 I only got one lady in Vancouver
00:23:20.280 that tried to get me there.
00:23:21.500 And I got another lady
00:23:22.680 trying to help me get a place.
00:23:24.560 But like...
00:23:26.500 Someone sent me a screenshot of an email
00:23:29.980 that you purportedly sent
00:23:31.340 where they asked you,
00:23:32.540 is this the email address
00:23:33.680 to donate to the convoy?
00:23:35.200 And you responded and said, yes.
00:23:39.120 Yes, Aaron.
00:23:42.100 So that happened.
00:23:43.080 So you told someone that had emailed you
00:23:44.900 that your email address
00:23:45.960 was the way the people could donate
00:23:48.260 to the convoy if they transferred.
00:23:49.700 That's correct?
00:23:51.500 When I started doing my group
00:23:54.520 was Ottawa Convoy Help
00:23:56.420 on February 8th.
00:23:58.820 The one person sent me an email
00:24:00.440 and they thought it was designed to me.
00:24:02.140 And after that, they said,
00:24:03.060 sorry, it's the wrong email.
00:24:04.600 The only person I said yes is Aaron
00:24:07.140 because we had an arrangement.
00:24:08.840 I still have the screenshot
00:24:09.960 from the conversation.
00:24:10.980 So we have very drastically different visions
00:24:17.780 of your role in the convoy
00:24:19.820 and of what happened to the money here.
00:24:21.660 So when I asked you to come on the show,
00:24:23.960 I said, I want to give you an opportunity
00:24:25.300 to speak to people.
00:24:26.240 What is the message that you think
00:24:27.480 people need to know
00:24:28.400 about you and about your intentions
00:24:30.520 that has not been conveyed
00:24:32.040 in the CBC, CTV coverage
00:24:34.760 and even in the social media discourse
00:24:36.460 about this?
00:24:37.480 Okay.
00:24:38.140 So if you go,
00:24:39.140 if I go back on Facebook
00:24:40.320 and I start taking screenshot
00:24:41.880 of all my posts I had on Facebook
00:24:44.120 and those are all my,
00:24:46.100 my, my group
00:24:47.720 that the Ottawa Convoy Help,
00:24:50.000 they're deleted.
00:24:51.240 If you Google like Ottawa Convoy Help
00:24:53.800 of my name,
00:24:54.480 you can see my old posts,
00:24:56.500 not one of my posts,
00:24:58.820 not one of my posts
00:25:00.160 asked for money from people.
00:25:02.840 I asked for volunteer.
00:25:04.400 I asked for people
00:25:05.120 to help me deliver fuel
00:25:06.500 and everything.
00:25:08.940 Not one single person.
00:25:10.400 I asked not one post.
00:25:11.740 I asked for anything.
00:25:14.740 And you're,
00:25:15.720 and you're saying that
00:25:16.760 all you received was $4,000,
00:25:19.520 $4,250
00:25:20.580 and no one gave you cash.
00:25:22.180 That's your position.
00:25:23.800 Yes.
00:25:25.460 Okay.
00:25:26.400 Well, I appreciate it, Martin.
00:25:27.980 And again,
00:25:28.420 I think this is an important
00:25:29.860 discussion for people to have
00:25:31.680 and important for people
00:25:32.600 to have the facts.
00:25:33.780 I have a question for you.
00:25:35.300 Absolutely.
00:25:36.560 Why do you think
00:25:37.300 on March 4th,
00:25:38.360 I would go to the pawn shop
00:25:39.980 in Cardston,
00:25:41.120 Alberta
00:25:42.220 and sell my $2,000 laptop,
00:25:45.340 my Mac screen
00:25:46.260 that is worth
00:25:47.220 around $4,000
00:25:48.520 for peanuts
00:25:49.420 so I can buy my meds?
00:25:51.000 I don't know.
00:25:54.420 And again,
00:25:55.140 to be fair, Martin,
00:25:55.940 I'm not making accusations.
00:25:57.560 I'm asking questions
00:25:58.660 because...
00:25:59.140 The thing is,
00:25:59.600 the people say,
00:26:00.340 I have three banks account.
00:26:01.600 Do you know how crazy
00:26:02.480 this was for me?
00:26:03.620 I made a mistake
00:26:06.660 in my life
00:26:07.300 and I admit it
00:26:09.880 and I had a video
00:26:10.840 and I admit all my wrong
00:26:12.120 but I tried
00:26:12.960 for the past
00:26:14.320 since I...
00:26:15.400 For the past time,
00:26:16.500 I tried to help
00:26:17.500 everybody as possible.
00:26:19.180 And I made a mistake
00:26:20.940 in my life
00:26:21.460 because I...
00:26:22.180 I lost twice everything
00:26:25.560 and I admit that
00:26:27.180 and I admit that
00:26:28.120 a lot of people
00:26:28.940 helped me in the past
00:26:29.980 and all I try to do
00:26:31.180 is to help people again.
00:26:33.440 The thing is,
00:26:34.100 is like,
00:26:34.520 I never asked...
00:26:36.400 I talked to Mike yesterday
00:26:37.920 in the three-way,
00:26:38.760 the guy that was with me
00:26:40.060 in Ottawa
00:26:40.620 and we had...
00:26:42.140 I don't want to give
00:26:43.080 my receipt to
00:26:43.920 and take everything
00:26:45.620 was supposed to go home
00:26:47.740 and we'll send you
00:26:49.400 your money
00:26:49.860 and I'm like,
00:26:50.500 okay.
00:26:51.860 But the thing is,
00:26:52.820 I never asked for...
00:26:55.700 Like, even then,
00:26:56.920 I had the one guy
00:26:58.360 last week,
00:26:59.180 no,
00:26:59.760 the stunt dummy.
00:27:02.720 He said,
00:27:03.080 I'll send you $50.
00:27:04.160 I said,
00:27:04.460 I don't want it.
00:27:05.740 I'm okay.
00:27:07.060 Does it make sense?
00:27:08.100 I...
00:27:08.780 Like, right now,
00:27:10.320 look.
00:27:14.700 I don't know
00:27:15.300 if I can show you,
00:27:16.260 but look at my gas.
00:27:19.340 I don't even have nothing.
00:27:21.160 I sleep in my van.
00:27:22.460 Look,
00:27:23.260 this is the only way
00:27:24.300 I had left
00:27:24.780 for a sleeping bag,
00:27:25.620 a suitcase,
00:27:26.260 a bag.
00:27:26.860 I have nothing left
00:27:27.740 in my life.
00:27:28.360 I can't even
00:27:30.460 afford to eat.
00:27:31.420 I have $3
00:27:31.900 in one account
00:27:32.880 and $1
00:27:33.360 in the other one
00:27:34.340 and it's still
00:27:34.920 frozen.
00:27:37.120 And I speak
00:27:38.440 genuinely
00:27:39.440 when I say,
00:27:40.360 Martin,
00:27:40.580 that my heart
00:27:41.060 goes out to you
00:27:41.780 and this is why,
00:27:42.840 again,
00:27:43.020 I think it's important
00:27:43.620 to have you on.
00:27:44.460 You don't blame
00:27:45.340 the convoy for this.
00:27:47.600 No, I don't.
00:27:48.960 You know,
00:27:49.360 you know how crazy
00:27:50.140 this was?
00:27:51.060 I was in Ottawa
00:27:52.200 every single day.
00:27:54.260 I got a paper
00:27:55.640 saying I'm supposed
00:27:56.960 to seize
00:27:57.540 and seize
00:27:59.020 delivering fuel
00:28:00.560 to people.
00:28:02.240 You know,
00:28:02.660 you got that old man
00:28:04.660 that got beat up
00:28:05.540 by the cops
00:28:06.100 there were three times
00:28:07.140 in swathes.
00:28:07.840 It was chaos
00:28:08.680 over there.
00:28:09.440 It wasn't fun.
00:28:11.200 I did.
00:28:12.040 See,
00:28:12.380 the first week
00:28:13.160 of Ottawa
00:28:13.760 was amazing
00:28:14.860 and people
00:28:15.600 were being people.
00:28:17.100 There's people
00:28:18.060 helping each other.
00:28:19.080 and, you know,
00:28:20.620 the only thing
00:28:21.160 I ever wanted to do
00:28:22.060 in Ottawa
00:28:22.440 was to help people.
00:28:25.160 You know,
00:28:25.640 this is,
00:28:26.880 if it's life
00:28:28.420 and people say,
00:28:29.540 look,
00:28:29.860 I'm not sick.
00:28:32.800 I have lapro
00:28:34.160 in my stomach.
00:28:35.460 I have staples
00:28:36.600 in my stomach
00:28:37.340 and people
00:28:38.880 didn't know this
00:28:39.580 but in Ottawa
00:28:40.280 I was in the worst
00:28:41.080 pain ever
00:28:41.600 pulling my wagon
00:28:42.480 and helping everybody
00:28:43.680 and I can show you
00:28:45.580 like all the money
00:28:46.460 that came in
00:28:47.120 way before the convoy
00:28:48.900 and all the money
00:28:49.700 I saved up
00:28:50.480 and I never,
00:28:52.520 that wasn't for the convoy
00:28:53.820 but I saved up money
00:28:54.840 and I had money
00:28:55.740 put aside.
00:28:58.100 Like,
00:28:58.640 that wasn't
00:28:59.140 for the convoy.
00:28:59.900 I had my own money
00:29:00.760 when I got there
00:29:01.520 and I said,
00:29:03.040 okay,
00:29:03.240 I'll go there
00:29:03.860 and it's not
00:29:05.760 the first time
00:29:06.380 I sleep in the car.
00:29:07.560 It's not the first time
00:29:08.720 I'm like,
00:29:09.400 I'm down like this.
00:29:10.700 I got,
00:29:11.140 it's not the first time
00:29:13.680 but I only,
00:29:15.200 I only regret
00:29:17.420 what happened
00:29:18.140 in Ottawa.
00:29:20.320 I know we,
00:29:21.320 we talked about this before.
00:29:22.520 If there is anyone
00:29:23.820 you can connect us to
00:29:25.220 that can attest
00:29:27.020 to you giving them
00:29:27.920 money in Ottawa
00:29:28.540 and I put this call
00:29:29.420 out to my listeners.
00:29:30.200 If any of you,
00:29:30.820 I know a lot of you
00:29:31.580 who were part
00:29:32.660 of the convoy
00:29:33.480 listened to the show.
00:29:34.300 If any of you
00:29:34.860 received anything
00:29:35.820 from Martin,
00:29:36.380 let me know
00:29:36.800 and I will tell
00:29:37.300 your story on air
00:29:38.700 but Martin,
00:29:39.220 if there's anyone
00:29:39.720 that you can connect
00:29:40.480 me to as well
00:29:41.240 that can do that,
00:29:42.300 we will happily air that.
00:29:43.340 I think truth
00:29:44.040 is important in this
00:29:44.880 and I do genuinely
00:29:46.360 wish you the very best sir.
00:29:47.680 Thank you for coming on.
00:29:49.140 I have pictures
00:29:50.060 and screenshots
00:29:50.800 of my Gmail
00:29:51.660 and people say
00:29:52.660 it's done
00:29:53.240 and everything.
00:29:54.180 I have,
00:29:54.820 I used,
00:29:56.900 I delete all those groups
00:29:58.100 but I had like
00:29:59.000 tons of comments
00:29:59.800 from people.
00:30:00.560 I had people
00:30:01.360 that I send them
00:30:02.060 mechanic.
00:30:03.740 You can contact them
00:30:04.740 on Facebook.
00:30:05.640 Well,
00:30:05.920 if you,
00:30:06.680 this is pre-recorded
00:30:08.320 right now.
00:30:08.740 If you can send me
00:30:09.480 any of those tonight,
00:30:10.580 I will make a point
00:30:12.000 of showing them
00:30:12.560 on the screen sir.
00:30:13.400 I can make that promise
00:30:14.260 to you.
00:30:14.880 Thank you very much.
00:30:15.580 Talk to the people.
00:30:16.640 I can send you
00:30:17.440 the people that I help.
00:30:18.900 I can send you
00:30:20.460 a list of five people
00:30:21.380 right now
00:30:21.820 that I help
00:30:22.660 and you can talk
00:30:23.800 to them
00:30:24.120 and they said
00:30:24.700 thanks to me.
00:30:26.420 Like I did
00:30:26.920 an amazing job.
00:30:29.220 Please do that.
00:30:30.440 Genuinely,
00:30:31.080 please do that sir
00:30:31.980 and I will reach out
00:30:33.240 to them
00:30:33.500 before this show
00:30:34.320 comes out.
00:30:34.940 I will absolutely
00:30:35.560 do that.
00:30:36.020 Thank you.
00:30:36.360 I don't regret
00:30:37.360 going to Ottawa.
00:30:38.200 I just regret
00:30:38.760 what happened after.
00:30:40.400 Understood.
00:30:41.780 I'm going to do
00:30:42.440 something here
00:30:43.060 I never do
00:30:44.040 which is give you
00:30:44.760 a little bit of a look
00:30:45.640 behind the scenes
00:30:46.760 at the production
00:30:47.580 of this show.
00:30:48.780 That interview I did
00:30:50.220 with Martin Joseph Englehart
00:30:51.860 was recorded yesterday,
00:30:53.480 Tuesday,
00:30:53.960 at about 4 p.m.
00:30:55.040 Eastern time.
00:30:56.040 It's now midday
00:30:57.380 on Wednesday.
00:30:58.580 We asked Martin
00:30:59.600 in that show
00:31:00.480 as you heard
00:31:01.080 if he could provide
00:31:02.120 the name
00:31:02.860 or contact information
00:31:04.140 of anyone
00:31:04.860 who can corroborate
00:31:06.640 that he provided them
00:31:07.800 fuel, food, or money
00:31:09.540 as he said he did
00:31:11.020 to the tune of $13,000.
00:31:14.300 That's what we asked him.
00:31:15.660 Now at about 4.30 this morning
00:31:17.120 he provided a number
00:31:18.300 of emails
00:31:18.820 to my producer
00:31:19.800 that had in them
00:31:20.820 three different names.
00:31:22.700 One of them
00:31:23.440 was a pseudonymous
00:31:24.660 Facebook account
00:31:25.520 that I have not
00:31:26.320 been able to reach.
00:31:27.660 The other was a woman
00:31:28.740 who said she met up
00:31:29.760 with Martin
00:31:30.480 a couple of weeks
00:31:31.160 after the convoy
00:31:32.260 in Milk River, Alberta
00:31:33.740 and the version
00:31:35.100 of events she tells
00:31:36.020 is not at all
00:31:37.260 that Martin
00:31:38.580 was providing anything,
00:31:39.920 was offering food
00:31:40.880 or fuel
00:31:41.340 or support of any kind.
00:31:42.800 She actually told
00:31:43.620 a different story
00:31:44.760 which is that Martin
00:31:45.540 was receiving
00:31:46.480 things that had been
00:31:47.820 donated when she
00:31:49.000 met up with him
00:31:49.600 and even then
00:31:50.060 that was weeks
00:31:50.720 after the events
00:31:52.240 that are contested
00:31:53.160 actually took place
00:31:54.060 in Ottawa.
00:31:55.620 The third individual
00:31:56.600 that Martin suggested
00:31:57.520 I reach out to
00:31:58.280 was the man
00:31:59.320 who directed
00:32:00.040 $3,000 in Ottawa
00:32:01.660 of donated funds
00:32:03.260 to Martin.
00:32:05.300 He was not able
00:32:06.260 to speak to
00:32:07.000 any situation
00:32:08.180 that he's aware of
00:32:09.220 where Martin
00:32:09.720 provided anything
00:32:10.800 for someone else
00:32:12.120 and this man
00:32:13.080 also challenged
00:32:13.860 another story
00:32:14.740 that Martin told
00:32:15.540 about helping someone
00:32:16.500 with the convoy
00:32:17.240 buy a laptop.
00:32:18.400 The man that I spoke to
00:32:19.840 again who Martin
00:32:20.620 told me to contact
00:32:21.580 said that his wife
00:32:23.800 went out with Martin
00:32:25.040 to buy a laptop
00:32:25.800 and it was his wife
00:32:26.820 not Martin
00:32:27.460 who paid for that laptop.
00:32:29.440 So we asked Martin
00:32:31.080 if he could provide
00:32:31.780 anyone who could share
00:32:32.860 what he has told us
00:32:34.180 which is that he was
00:32:34.900 donating money to people
00:32:36.140 buying fuel for people
00:32:37.200 and so far
00:32:38.280 no one has been able
00:32:39.440 to do that.
00:32:40.480 And again
00:32:40.820 e-transfers are tracked
00:32:42.640 they go to an email address
00:32:43.980 and or a phone number
00:32:45.380 it would not be hard
00:32:46.620 to go and look
00:32:47.260 at your records
00:32:47.880 and find emails
00:32:48.820 and phone numbers
00:32:49.500 of people
00:32:49.940 that you've sent money to
00:32:50.980 none of that
00:32:52.060 has been provided
00:32:52.860 to True North.
00:32:54.340 The reason I did this show
00:32:55.560 is because the mainstream media
00:32:56.800 was using this man's story
00:32:58.380 to cast all of the convoy
00:33:00.640 in a negative light
00:33:01.640 to talk about how
00:33:02.460 they preyed upon this man
00:33:03.900 that just went out there
00:33:05.620 because he wanted
00:33:06.320 to help people
00:33:07.000 he wanted to be part
00:33:07.900 of something.
00:33:08.460 Well we've tried
00:33:09.500 we've given him
00:33:10.040 an opportunity to explain
00:33:11.360 and I think there are
00:33:12.640 far more questions
00:33:13.480 than answers
00:33:14.040 after that explanation
00:33:15.160 and the pursuit
00:33:16.800 of evidence
00:33:17.420 that supports his side
00:33:18.580 has led to evidence
00:33:20.420 against him.
00:33:21.720 This is what we do
00:33:22.400 again if you have
00:33:23.120 any information
00:33:23.720 one way or another
00:33:24.460 do let us know
00:33:25.200 and we're happy
00:33:25.960 to follow up on this.
00:33:27.260 And look CTV
00:33:28.260 with its myriad producers
00:33:30.140 didn't do anything
00:33:31.460 in the way of real journalism
00:33:32.740 on this story
00:33:33.460 CBC with 1.4 billion dollars
00:33:35.540 of taxpayer money
00:33:36.760 also didn't seem
00:33:38.040 to see through
00:33:38.980 things that obviously
00:33:40.400 didn't have the ring of truth
00:33:42.040 as they say.
00:33:43.120 True North is different
00:33:43.920 we don't play by their rules
00:33:45.080 but we do still get
00:33:46.080 to the bottom of it
00:33:46.780 and seek the truth.
00:33:47.700 So thanks to all of you
00:33:48.480 for tuning in
00:33:49.480 and if you have anything
00:33:50.500 like I said anything at all
00:33:51.680 that would help us
00:33:52.680 piece this all together
00:33:53.580 please do let us know.
00:33:55.260 With that we'll bid you adieu.
00:33:56.300 More of the Andrew Lawton Show
