00:00:00.000 In a move that has managed to surprise and anger even his own supporters, Justin Trudeau just
00:00:12.240 managed to appoint one of the least independent people he could find in the entire country to be
00:00:16.560 Canada's new independent special rapporteur tasked with investigating Chinese election
00:00:20.660 interference. Now if it weren't so utterly depressing, the sheer brazenness with which
00:00:25.360 Justin Trudeau handles ethics in this country would almost be admirable. It's the kind of
00:00:29.600 stuff that would make even the world's most corrupt third world dictators blush. And throughout all of
00:00:34.140 this, Liberal MPs, the ones that are still loyal to the Prime Minister, the ones that are fighting to
00:00:38.220 the bitter end to save Justin Trudeau's career, well they're going to extreme lengths to block Katie
00:00:43.180 Telford, the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff, from testifying under oath in front of committee. What
00:00:47.580 are they hiding from us? That's the comment question for the episode. What is Justin Trudeau hiding from
00:00:53.300 Canadians? Let me know, drop a like in the video, help us out with subscribing to the True North
00:00:56.880 YouTube channel, and let's get into it. Just as he did for the Emergencies Act inquiry, and just as he did
00:01:01.560 for the 2021 fake federal election report, Justin Trudeau has once again called in his buddies, called in
00:01:07.540 his Laurentian elite pals, to bail him out of his latest scandal. Let's be honest, none of you were expecting
00:01:12.240 the Prime Minister to appoint someone actually independent, someone who wasn't a close family
00:01:16.540 friend, or a sitting member of the Pierre Trudeau Foundation to be the special rapporteur.
00:01:20.940 Expecting anything less would be a fool's errand. But Justin Trudeau's statement on Wednesday night
00:01:25.420 announcing the appointment of David Johnson as the special rapporteur conveniently leaves out
00:01:29.980 any evidence of the several disqualifying conflicts of interest that David Johnson now
00:01:34.740 finds himself in. The Government of Canada takes any attempts at undermining our democracy
00:01:39.200 very seriously, and will continue to take actions to protect our institutions and uphold Canadians'
00:01:44.780 confidence in our democracy. The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced that the federal
00:01:49.260 government intends to appoint the Right Honourable David Johnson as independent special rapporteur,
00:01:55.100 a new role as part of a suite of measures to help combat foreign interference and strengthen
00:02:00.000 confidence in our federal electoral process and democratic institutions. In this new role,
00:02:05.200 Mr. Johnson will have a wide mandate to look into foreign interference in the last two federal
00:02:09.980 elections and make expert recommendations on how to further protect our democracy and uphold
00:02:14.840 Canadians' confidence in it. Ten days ago, instead of doing the right thing and calling for a public
00:02:18.880 inquiry, Justin Trudeau did tell Canadians he would be appointing an independent special rapporteur.
00:02:24.840 But today, I'm announcing that I will be appointing an independent special rapporteur
00:02:30.660 who will have a wide mandate and make expert recommendations on combating interference and
00:02:37.840 strengthening our democracy. Thanks to Justin Trudeau's time as a drama teacher, his acting skills
00:02:43.300 on the podium managed to convince some gullible Canadians that he would be actually appointing an
00:02:47.920 independent special rapporteur. The special rapporteur announcement was never intended to be anything
00:02:52.740 other than a delay tactic, an effort by the Liberals to stop opposition MPs from demanding a public
00:02:58.680 inquiry. By announcing the appointment of a special rapporteur, the government can kick this story down
00:03:03.140 the road for a few more months and wait until a hand-picked special rapporteur tells them,
00:03:07.200 that's fine, there's nothing to see here, let's just move along. But even with a perfect escape plan
00:03:11.220 out of this scandal, Justin Trudeau managed to appoint someone who doesn't even for a second pass the smell
00:03:17.320 test of independence. The Prime Minister had 10 days to pick someone in Canada who wasn't a lifelong
00:03:23.260 close family friend, a member of the Pierre Trudeau Foundation, a recipient of millions of dollars in
00:03:28.780 grants from the Trudeau government, or an appointee of Justin Trudeau himself. But Justin Trudeau managed
00:03:34.160 to pick the one man in Canada who falls into all four of those disqualifying conflicts of interest.
00:03:40.320 As Napoleon famously said, never ascribed to malice that which can adequately be explained by
00:03:45.640 incompetence. And it's possible that when Justin Trudeau's office told him to not pick someone
00:03:50.700 who falls into all four of those disqualifying conflicts of interest, Justin Trudeau might have
00:03:54.940 misunderstood the instructions and heard them say, pick someone who falls into all four of these
00:03:59.360 disqualifying conflicts of interest. But even I have too much respect in the office of the Prime
00:04:03.100 Minister to believe that Trudeau was simply being incompetent and not intentionally doing whatever he
00:04:07.640 could to get himself out of this scandal and protect his political career. Now we're just going to run
00:04:11.960 through these disqualifying conflicts of interest that make David Johnson's appointment as the special
00:04:16.880 rapporteur completely untenable. First being the fact that David Johnson is a close family friend of
00:04:22.520 Justin Trudeau. Back in 2017, Justin Trudeau waxed lyrical about the days he spent skiing in the Laurentians
00:04:28.520 with David Johnson's family. I've known the governor general since I was a kid from visiting him and his
00:04:35.520 daughters when he was principal of McGill to spending time on the ice or the slopes at their family home
00:04:42.400 in the Laurentians. And I've always known him to be a man of strength, intelligence, and...
00:04:49.380 Two Laurentian elites reminiscing of their days hitting the slopes in the Laurentians. I mean the jokes just
00:04:54.340 write themselves, don't they? And as I mentioned earlier, David Johnson is a sitting member of the
00:04:58.820 Pierre Trudeau Foundation. The same foundation that is directly implicated in the China scandal. The
00:05:05.000 Pierre Trudeau Foundation had to return a $200,000 donation because of links to the Communist Party.
00:05:11.060 And the former CEO of that same organization, Morris Rosenberg, tried and failed to write the
00:05:15.960 get-out-of-jail-free report for the 2021 federal election.
00:05:19.400 But wait! There's more!
00:05:22.340 When David Johnson was the governor general of Canada, he founded and led a charity called the
00:05:26.760 Rideau Hall Foundation. And in 2017, when Justin Trudeau was prime minister, Trudeau, in honor of
00:05:32.820 David Johnson, gave millions of taxpayer dollars to that charity. Oh, and as icing on the cake to
00:05:38.780 really solidify the disqualifying conflict of interest David Johnson finds himself in,
00:05:43.000 Justin Trudeau in 2018 personally appointed David Johnson as the commissioner of the Leaders'
00:05:48.500 Debates Commission. By the way, the same Debates Commission that tried and failed to block True
00:05:53.560 North from accessing the 2019 election debate. Nice try, David. Now, all of this brings us to the
00:05:58.300 main question, the main theme of this episode, the common question. What is Justin Trudeau hiding
00:06:02.700 from Canadians? Why does he have to, in his own words, appoint a close family friend to be the
00:06:08.120 special rapporteur to investigate election interference claims? Trudeau couldn't find a judge that he
00:06:12.660 hadn't gone skiing with in the Laurentians? That he hadn't given millions of taxpayer dollars to?
00:06:17.100 Also, why are his loyal backbench MPs trying so hard to block all attempts to have Katie
00:06:23.780 Telford, his chief of staff, testify under oath? What is so dangerous to Justin Trudeau that Telford
00:06:29.220 knows that Liberal MPs are willing to completely embarrass themselves just to stop her from
00:06:35.100 testifying? Liberal members on this committee are filibustering this committee because we don't
00:06:42.920 believe that the appropriateness of, we don't believe in the appropriateness of this, of this, of this
00:06:51.020 motion. And that's why we're doing this, because we don't think it's right to be calling on staff,
00:06:57.160 political staff, before committee. One Liberal MP, Ruby Sahota, was so desperate to stop Katie
00:07:04.200 Telford from testifying in front of committee that she began talking about how a public inquiry into
00:07:09.000 election interference would cost the taxpayer too much money. You know something is really wrong in
00:07:13.640 Ottawa when Liberals pretend to care about our money. At about, or the last time I could find a
00:07:18.720 calculation last November, so November of 22, as of November 2022, the public inquiry that has, is being
00:07:28.140 done for the Ottawa LRT has cost $14.5 million. 14.5 million dollars. I think that's going to make it
00:07:40.780 hard for the Conservatives to sleep tonight, I really do, because I know that they are fiscally
00:07:46.380 responsible, or they at least claim to be fiscally responsible. Now that behavior from Liberal MPs is
00:07:53.280 a far cry from the kind of government Justin Trudeau was pitching to Canadians back in 2014
00:07:58.040 on Twitter. In 2014, Justin Trudeau told Canadians the Liberal Party of Canada wants to raise the bar
00:08:03.720 on transparency and accountability, not only in Parliament, but in government too. Here's how.
00:08:08.760 Now with a touch of prophetic irony that's just too good not to mention, that 2014 tweet about how the
00:08:14.300 Liberal government plans to raise the bar on transparency and accountability doesn't actually
00:08:19.540 have a link as to how they're going to do it. Everyone watching this knows exactly what's going
00:08:23.240 on. Whatever Telfer knows is enough to potentially bring down the government. If there's nothing to
00:08:27.400 hide, then why wouldn't the Liberals at least try to appear transparent? For the past 24 hours on
00:08:32.940 Twitter, woke Liberal sycophants have been furiously defending Justin Trudeau's appointment of David
00:08:37.140 Johnson as the Special Rapporteur, saying that David Johnson can't be seen as biased because
00:08:40.980 Stephen Harper appointed Johnson as Governor General. First of all, anyone with a brain knows
00:08:45.820 that just because Harper appointed Johnson as Governor General doesn't all of a sudden mean
00:08:49.860 that Johnson is going to let one of his close family friend Laurentian Elite buddies fall on
00:08:54.340 political scandal without putting up a decent fight first. These woke sycophants on Twitter want
00:08:58.900 you to believe that all of the evidence of a conflict of interest, the millions of dollars funneled
00:09:03.640 from taxpayers to Johnson's charity, Johnson's position on the Pierre Trudeau Foundation, Johnson's
00:09:08.280 appointment as the Commissioner of the Election Debates Commission. All of that gets erased
00:09:12.380 because Stephen Harper appointed Johnson. As has been rightly pointed out by many talking heads on
00:09:16.940 Twitter, the onus of appointing an independent, unbiased Special Rapporteur and convincing Canadians
00:09:23.620 that the independence of the Rapporteur cannot be in question is not on the people, it's on the
00:09:29.280 government. The government has to convince us that the person they chose is not biased, and so far
00:09:35.120 they've failed in epic proportions. For the first time in 2023, we hand out the ratio of the week
00:09:40.600 prize to a back-to-back winner, and there couldn't be anyone more deserving, the main man himself,
00:09:45.260 Justin Trudeau, for his announcement on Twitter of David Johnson. Let's just say it didn't pass the
00:09:50.280 smell test for most Twitter users, despite the best efforts of woke sycophants trying to defend the
00:09:55.520 Prime Minister. At the time of this recording, Justin Trudeau's tweet has over 3,000 replies
00:10:00.240 and only 1,700 likes. Nothing says independent like a close personal family friend. It was during
00:10:08.340 his time in that role that he became acquainted with Pierre and Margaret Trudeau as the Johnson
00:10:12.780 children played with the Trudeau children when the families were at their adjacent cottages
00:10:16.640 in the Laurentians. Haha, they had adjacent cottages in the Laurentians! I looked into it,
00:10:22.300 you did nothing wrong. Yep, a Trudeau Foundation member was tasked by Trudeau to investigate the
00:10:27.740 Trudeau government for its complicity in Chinese election interference. I think we all know the
00:10:31.760 results of the report already. This needs to be a public inquiry, corrupt coward. And that, my friends,
00:10:38.560 is a perfect note to end the show. Thank you so much for tuning in. My name is Harrison Faulkner,
00:10:42.760 and this is Ratio.
