00:01:04.980 Name me a system in America that's not a broken system.

00:01:08.960 Look at our food system.

00:01:10.120 Look at our so-called healthcare system.

00:01:12.000 Look at our so-called political system.

00:01:14.280 Look at our so-called pharmaceutical system.

00:01:16.400 Look at our so-called judicial system or our prison system.

00:01:20.420 All the systems of the world are completely broken and corrupted and ultimately run by Satan.

00:01:27.240 And that's the world that we are not a part of, that we're distinct from.

00:01:31.120 And I'm not somebody who thinks that we're going to go reform all those systems.

00:01:34.260 We're going to reform people.

00:02:05.620 Top Lobster Productions.

00:02:06.580 Okay.

00:02:07.420 Okay, so about the world, I've kind of had a bit of a wild-ass journey in my walk with God

00:02:13.740 and coming to the understanding of what the world is and what it's like and what it's not like.

00:02:19.140 And like when I first started out in the game, when I first got converted and really started to walk with God,

00:02:23.140 I hung out with a lot of poor people.

00:02:25.780 And this Bible study that I was going to was predominantly like poor people.

00:02:30.680 And they would always bring up these passages about not loving the world and hating the world,

00:02:35.400 not being part of the world.

00:02:37.760 And I was always like, well, yeah, that's convenient for them.

00:02:39.820 Like they're poor, you know, like they're not like they're not thriving in this world system.

00:02:44.160 And so they're very, it's very easy for them to be like, oh, I don't like the world.

00:02:47.440 But I was like, they're just doing that because they're not productive within this world system.

00:02:52.560 And they're not thriving and succeeding in it, which was a, which wasn't astute observation.

00:02:56.800 Like, so just, I just need to put that observation in my back pocket

00:03:00.500 and not think that they're right or wrong for that observation.

00:03:04.060 But I just remember them saying these bad things about the world.

00:03:06.340 And I remember at the time being like, well, I don't, I don't know.

00:03:11.360 Like, I like the grocery store and like, I'm grateful for the mall.

00:03:14.000 Like, like, I'm just, I'm just being honest.

00:03:15.560 Like, that's where I was initially at when I started to hear these things about

00:03:18.260 not loving the world and the world being bad.

00:03:21.500 And that was kind of the beginning of my journey of like,

00:03:23.860 wondering what was going on with this world system.

00:03:26.440 Like the dude that I was learning from at the time,

00:03:28.440 he called himself Bishop because he was supposedly like a,

00:03:31.720 sorry, like a pastor over pastors was like his thing,

00:03:36.560 which I'm not even getting into that, but he was on food stamps.

00:03:38.940 And like, we'd go to his house and he would eat like luxurious foods and stuff.

00:03:42.680 Like he would be, I just remember him eating like shrimp and stuff.

00:03:46.880 Like Bella was little and she, she like wanted a shrimp. 1.00

00:03:50.380 And she was like, no, no, this is for big daddy.

00:03:52.920 Like, that's what he said.

00:03:54.980 It's like, you know, like in that culture, you don't,

00:03:57.400 the kids don't really like bother the grownups.

00:03:59.700 You know what I'm saying?

00:04:00.320 And so like, I just remember them having like luxurious food.

00:04:03.640 And I remember like reading in the scripture that like, well, I don't know, man.

00:04:06.960 I saw where if you don't work, you don't eat.

00:04:08.620 Like they didn't work, you know?

00:04:09.800 And it was just like weird, but they were learning.

00:04:12.000 They were teaching me the word of God.

00:04:13.380 So it was like, I was just in this crux.

00:04:15.300 I was like learning the word of God.

00:04:16.680 And I was incredibly grateful for that and trying to help these people and benefit them.

00:04:20.520 Like one time we had a barbecue.

00:04:22.920 Like to a barbecue, like for the public.

00:04:25.920 And we were like cooking ribs and everything, giving it to the public.

00:04:29.100 And the next time I was at their house, they just had tons of ribs, like stacked in the freezer and stuff.

00:04:34.980 I just remember being like, what is going on?

00:04:37.920 And we'd have them over to the house and they would like watch cops.

00:04:40.660 I'd be like, who are these people?

00:04:45.080 I just got to remember all this right now. 1.00

00:04:47.920 It's just kind of stupid. 0.96

00:04:49.120 I guess I'm just airing it out live. 0.99

00:04:50.620 But like they asked them and like have them over for dinner because they were teaching us the word of God.

00:04:55.700 Right.

00:04:56.280 And they would chill on the couch and get like super comfortable and watch cops.

00:05:01.060 And like the whole conversation they'd have was always from like...

00:05:04.080 Are you talking about David?

00:05:05.300 What do you mean right now?

00:05:07.480 No, their whole view, like their whole conversation was always from like the criminal's perspective.

00:05:13.560 Like my family was like just kind of laughing.

00:05:16.700 I'm like, wow, this is crazy.

00:05:17.780 We would just like bring them food and they were chilling on the couch.

00:05:19.820 But anyway, they were always talking about the evil world, like the bad world.

00:05:25.720 And so that was always my take, man.

00:05:28.980 I was like, well, yeah, that's just because they're not successful in the world.

00:05:32.580 And that's why they're like bashing the world.

00:05:34.720 So then I did that for a while.

00:05:37.320 And then I was within another like church body of a little bit more of like wealthy people.

00:05:42.720 And then I remember just like more wealthy people that were just like a lot more worldly.

00:05:56.580 Like they were successful within that world system.

00:05:59.520 And therefore they liked that world system.

00:06:01.820 And I remember like one time, sorry, they canceled church because there was like an important college football game on.

00:06:11.360 And they didn't cancel like the Sunday morning show because you never cancel that.

00:06:14.580 But it was like some afternoon service.

00:06:16.460 I don't remember if it was like a Saturday afternoon service or a Sunday afternoon service.

00:06:19.900 But it was like a big, important, it was like a very big, important like college game.

00:06:25.660 And so they canceled church for it.

00:06:27.320 And I remember people talking about it and being like, yeah, no, that's wrong, man.

00:06:31.160 Like you can't cancel church for a football game.

00:06:34.440 And I was like, yeah, wait a minute.

00:06:35.800 What is going on?

00:06:36.720 And then I, it was like, if this matters, it's debatable whether that system matters or not.

00:06:42.060 But like, if this matters, like, should we be canceling it?

00:06:45.660 Because there's like a really important worldly football game on, which was kind of the thing that happened during coronavirus.

00:06:50.180 If everybody remembers during coronavirus, it was like, well, does this matter?

00:06:54.040 Like, does this format matter?

00:06:55.480 Because if so, like, what do you mean we're just canceling it because of coronavirus?

00:06:59.240 Like, what do you mean?

00:06:59.940 Like church is so important and it's like the body of Christ.

00:07:03.720 And it's like the blood flow of the body and like we have to be at church.

00:07:07.120 But like, hey, when the most, you know, crazy event on planet Earth is happening, like, yeah, it's not that important.

00:07:13.580 I mean, we can't go to church now.

00:07:14.780 So it was like, okay, well, does it matter or doesn't it matter?

00:07:16.780 You know, and I was kind of in all these questions, right?

00:07:18.760 It was like I had seen like these people hated the world.

00:07:21.980 But then I was in like this other church where the people love the world, you know?

00:07:25.880 And so I was kind of in a crux and just trying to understand this whole like world system now and understand like what the Bible is talking about when it talks about the world.

00:07:35.420 I think that's the dynamic of the balance.

00:07:38.440 Maybe that narrow road that we're talking about kind of have to find a nice world between both.

00:07:43.980 Yeah, that's a fair assessment.

00:07:45.280 Yeah.

00:07:46.000 I mean, ultimately, we're not part of the world, right?

00:07:49.240 We just have to really come to terms with like defining the world.

00:07:52.860 And so, you know, ultimately in the Greek, there's the two words that get translated world in the King James, right?

00:07:58.200 There's aion, A-I-O-N, which is like an eon, like an age, like a time period. 0.99

00:08:02.380 And then there's cosmos, which is like the arrangement or the order or the structure or what we would call like systems.

00:08:09.660 And ultimately what I landed on and what is the world that we are not a part of is like think about all the systems of the world, dude.

00:08:16.580 Like name me a system in America that's not a broken system.

00:08:20.500 Like look at our food system.

00:08:22.320 Look at our so-called health care system.

00:08:24.200 Look at our so-called political system.

00:08:26.220 Look at our so-called pharmaceutical system.

00:08:28.640 Look at our so-called judicial system or our prison system.

00:08:34.160 Like all the systems of the world are completely broken and corrupted and ultimately run by Satan.

00:08:41.020 And like that's the world that we are not a part of, that we're distinct from.

00:08:45.200 And I'm not somebody who thinks that we're going to go reform all those systems.

00:08:48.320 We're going to reform people.

00:08:49.620 Like we're going to reform people.

00:08:51.000 Like we're here to preach the gospel and not even reform people, but preach death to people so that they die, they're born again, and they're brought to life in Christ.

00:08:59.600 So it's not really a reformation.

00:09:01.860 It's not like God just takes your busted up broken body and then chews up bubble gum and like stops up all the holes.

00:09:07.660 That's not what he's doing.

00:09:08.740 His solution for us is execution and bring us to new life, right?

00:09:12.820 And so that's what we preach is being born again.

00:09:15.880 So hopefully that's like a good breakdown of the world that we are not a part of.

00:09:23.720 I think as time has gone on, it's made me sick to see how much of the world is in the church.

00:09:28.400 There's an old time saying that says a ship in the sea is all right, but the sea and the ship is all wrong.

00:09:34.540 And the ship is a type of the church that kind of floats above all that wickedness and all that evil of the world and is a safe place and is an example to the world.

00:09:43.180 And when it's in the sea, that's right.

00:09:44.820 We're in the world, but we're not of the world.

00:09:46.540 But when the sea gets in the ship, the ship is sinking.

00:09:50.340 That's why the sea is sinking.

00:09:52.280 And I think history is born witness to that. 0.97

00:09:54.880 And it looks filthy and ridiculous in the church when you see the world just being mingled with the church. 0.99

00:10:04.040 It looks ridiculous and embarrassing. 0.99

00:10:06.300 So let's just pull up a couple passages real quick. 0.91

00:10:11.700 This is brutal.

00:10:12.760 Okay, 1 John 2, 15 through 17.

00:10:19.800 This is kind of like the core of how the Bible views the world.

00:10:24.460 And this is where the rubber meets the road and where you kind of have to come to terms with like, yeah, what is my position with and in the world, right?

00:10:32.360 So look at this.

00:10:33.200 1 John 2, 15.

00:10:34.360 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.

00:10:38.420 If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

00:10:42.200 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is not of the Father, but is of the world.

00:10:49.820 And the world passes away in the lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abides forever.

00:10:55.980 So right away, just notice he's contrasting the temporary with the eternal, right?

00:11:00.680 The world passes away in the lust thereof, but he that does the will of God abides forever.

00:11:05.560 I think that's one thing to take note of with the world is that it's a thing that's passing away.

00:11:10.460 Ultimately, you have to notice that.

00:11:11.900 And if you truly have faith and your claim is that you want to spend eternity with Christ, then it's very hypocritical to love the world that you're claiming is just going to pass away one day, right?

00:11:22.880 So I think that's just an easy takeaway from that passage.

00:11:25.520 But it also starts to talk about the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.

00:11:30.140 I think we all understand like the lust of the flesh or like the desire of the flesh.

00:11:34.500 Some of these things would be like for sex, food, drugs, sleep, just laziness, like video games.

00:11:40.120 Just think of think of whatever you can like these things that our flesh just kind of desires.

00:11:44.520 That's just like the easiest path.

00:11:46.980 That's just like the easy animal like nature that we have.

00:11:52.320 Sessarily evil in themselves.

00:11:54.920 But we've talked about it before, like the same way we hunt animals around like their sexual desire and their appetite for food desire.

00:12:03.040 The demonic realm can hunt us in the same way, like over our fleshly and carnal nature, right?

00:12:08.780 Another thing that gets talked about is the pride of life, which is like we talk about this a lot, like reputation, concern for what man thinks, and just kind of this independence from God.

00:12:18.640 Just like this pride of life that like I can do it without God.

00:12:22.420 And we all kind of have this desire for reputation and people to look at you and think you're somebody important.

00:12:27.800 Like I vividly remember that, especially like back when I was still trying to come to terms with like why the world was bad.

00:12:36.040 I remember during that time, I really did like it if I was like at a party or something and was telling somebody like, yeah, I live in a 3,000 square foot house and I'd have a cool car and got a lot of money in a bank account.

00:12:46.220 Like I remember that, man.

00:12:47.460 And I remember being at houses and looking at people's houses and saying like, oh, man, I wish I had a kitchen like that.

00:12:53.560 Or I wish I had like a backyard like that.

00:12:55.420 Or I wish I had stuff like this or that.

00:12:57.080 But I vividly remember that in the beginning of my walk with Christ.

00:13:00.920 Like all this stuff is just like the world.

00:13:03.120 It's all our fleshly desires for these things in the world.

00:13:07.820 And the interesting thing about the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is it looks like that's exactly how Satan tried to tempt Jesus in the wilderness.

00:13:15.860 He operated through those three realms.

00:14:03.200 But I want to look at this passage in Joshua, actually, to kind of break down this lust of the eyes thing.

00:14:10.080 I just think it's a great opportunity to read this story just because it's a neat story.

00:14:15.800 And it kind of, you know, it's interesting.

00:14:18.720 This part of the scripture, right away you're dealing with like the chosen people, right? 0.91

00:14:24.060 You're dealing with like the elect, the chosen people.

00:14:26.760 And right away we're going to hear this story where one of the chosen or one of the elect finds himself cursed, and we're also going to find somebody who's not part of the chosen and not part of the elect, Rahab, who finds herself blessed, which is very intriguing, you know, which should make everybody think twice about the way we're viewing like predestination and being chosen or being called or any of these things.

00:14:48.940 So if we look at Joshua chapter six, sorry, I was doing chapter six, chapter seven.

00:14:55.760 It wasn't, I should have been more clear on that.

00:14:57.680 I think we'll pull that up.

00:14:58.980 You might have had chapter six, verse seven.

00:15:01.720 No, it's going to be like a long read.

00:15:03.140 Is that all right?

00:15:05.000 Just make it quick.

00:15:06.060 Okay.

00:15:06.920 Well, I'll read it then, not you.

00:15:11.740 One second.

00:15:15.440 Yeah, Robert Werff.

00:15:16.340 I think it's cool to play video games and talk to people about Jesus.

00:15:19.420 I respect that.

00:15:20.200 I'm not saying like if you're playing video games, that's bad.

00:15:22.680 I'm just like, I'm not saying like sex is bad or food is bad.

00:15:25.280 I'm just saying like there's these things that we have to be mindful of that we're not lusting after that are just like these easy paths that lead us away from God because it's not from a disciplined lifestyle or for the world.

00:15:38.960 But now Jericho was straightly shut up because of the children of Israel. 1.00

00:15:44.420 You guys will like this passage.

00:15:45.520 I wanted to bring this up because I think it has to do with, what do you guys call it, with the music weapons and stuff, like with the noise weapons.

00:15:52.240 There's like frequency.

00:15:54.060 Yeah, frequency weapons.

00:15:54.820 Yeah, I think we got some frequency stuff going on here.

00:15:57.220 Jericho was straightly shut up because of the children of Israel. 1.00

00:15:59.800 None went out and none came in.

00:16:02.320 I don't know if Christians do this to cities today, but it'd be interesting if they did. 1.00

00:16:05.440 And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into your hand Jericho and the king thereof and the mighty men of valor.

00:16:11.840 And you shall compass the city, all you men of war, and go round about the city once. 0.72

00:16:16.820 Thus shalt thou do six days.

00:16:19.240 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of ram's horns.

00:16:22.660 And the seventh day you shall compass the city seven times.

00:16:25.420 And the priest shall blow with the trumpets.

00:16:27.880 And it shall come to pass that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout, and the wall of the city shall fall down flat.

00:16:39.440 Frequency.

00:16:40.620 And the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

00:16:44.840 And Joshua, the son of Nun, called the priest and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of ram's horns before the ark of the Lord.

00:16:54.580 And he said unto the people, Pass on and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the Lord.

00:17:01.080 And it came to pass when Joshua had spoken unto the people that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of ram's horns passed on before the Lord and blew with the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them.

00:17:12.480 I hope everybody's getting this visual.

00:17:13.800 And the armed men went before the priest that blew with the trumpets, and the re-reward came after the ark, the priest going on and blowing with the trumpets.

00:17:22.220 And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, You shall not shout nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth until the day I bid you shout, then you shall shout.

00:17:32.580 So they're marching around the city.

00:17:34.500 They've got it completely contained and enclosed.

00:17:37.240 Nobody's going out.

00:17:38.180 Nobody's going in.

00:17:39.020 And their entire military is marching around it in silence.

00:17:42.480 So the ark of the Lord compassed the city going about it once, and they came into the camp and lodged in the camp.

00:17:50.760 And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord, and seven priests bearing seven trumpets of ram's horns before the ark of the Lord went on continually and blew with the trumpets.

00:17:59.920 And the armed men went before them, but the re-reward came after the ark of the Lord, the priests going on and blowing with the trumpets.

00:18:06.400 And the second day they compassed the city once and returned into the camp.

00:18:10.100 So they did six days.

00:18:11.380 And it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early about the dawning of the day and compassed the city after the same manner seven times.

00:18:18.920 Only on that day, they compassed the city seven times.

00:18:23.280 And it came to pass at the seventh time when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, shout, for the Lord hath given you the city.

00:18:31.040 And the city shall be cursed.

00:18:33.040 Even it and all that are therein to the Lord, only Rahab the harlot shall live. 1.00

00:18:38.560 She and all that are with her in the house because she hid the messengers that we sent.

00:18:42.800 And you and any wise keep yourselves from the cursed thing, lest you make yourselves cursed when you take of the cursed thing and make the camp of Israel a curse and trouble it.

00:18:53.580 You know how we talk about who's on your ship?

00:18:55.540 This is like a major example of that, dude.

00:18:58.140 If you go in and you grab the cursed thing, you're cursing you, you're cursing your family, you're cursing Israel, like everybody's connected to it. 1.00

00:19:05.840 But all the silver and gold and vessels of brass and iron are consecrated unto the Lord.

00:19:09.980 They shall come into the treasury of the Lord.

00:19:11.580 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets and it came to pass when the people heard the sound of the trumpet and the people shouted with a great shout that the wall fell down flat so that the people went up into the city.

00:19:22.120 Every man straight before him and they took the city and they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old and ox and sheep and ass with the edge of the sword.

00:19:31.960 But Joshua had sent on the two men that spied out the country, go into the harlot's house and bring out there the woman and all that she has as you swore unto her. 0.89

00:19:40.400 And the young men that were spies went in and brought out Rahab and her father and her mother and her brethren and all that she had.

00:19:47.460 And they brought out all her kindred and left them without the camp of Israel. 1.00

00:19:51.260 So that was a person that was not part of the chosen people.

00:19:54.980 And look how she's blessed and has even brought to her household what we would call household salvation.

00:20:01.420 And they burnt the city with fire and all that was therein, only the silver and the gold and the vessels of brass and of iron they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord.

00:20:09.920 And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive in her father's household and all that she had.

00:20:17.000 And she dwells in Israel even into this day because she hid the messengers which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

00:20:22.680 And Joshua adjured them at that time saying,

00:20:24.820 Cursed be the man before the Lord that rises up and builds this city Jericho. 0.94

00:20:28.580 He shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn and as young as shall he set up the gates of it.

00:20:33.620 So the Lord was with Joshua and his famed noise throughout all his life.

00:20:39.920 And Jericho, right?

00:20:41.380 People are somewhat familiar of it, but now you've heard it.

00:20:43.960 Like now you've read it.

00:20:44.820 Like that's the story of the fall of Jericho from the children of Israel. 0.74

00:20:49.860 It's interesting that curse that he lays down in verse 26,

00:20:53.280 because in first Kings there is somebody who goes and rebuilds Jericho and he loses two sons doing it just according to the curse.

00:20:59.800 Now chapter seven.

00:21:01.360 What watch?

00:21:01.940 So everybody just thinks like, all right, man, we're good.

00:21:03.700 Like that's it.

00:21:04.560 Jericho's wrapped up.

00:21:05.660 But, you know, here we go.

00:21:06.820 But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the cursed thing for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah of the tribe of Judah took of the cursed thing. 0.84

00:21:17.520 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against the children of Israel.

00:21:20.300 And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethhaven on the east side of Bethel and spake unto them, saying, go up and view the country.

00:21:29.500 And the men went up and viewed it.

00:21:31.000 And they returned to Joshua and said unto him, let not all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and labor there.

00:21:39.740 So they are but few.

00:21:40.600 So they're going to go up against the city called Ai, and they say, hey, we don't need a ton of people.

00:21:44.940 You can just send a few.

00:21:46.780 So there went up there of the people about three thousand men, and they fled before the men of Ai.

00:21:50.680 And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty-six men.

00:21:53.660 For they chased them from before the gate, even into Shebarim, and smote them in the going down, whereof the hearts of the people melted and became as water. 0.81

00:22:01.520 And Joshua ripped his clothes and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the Lord until the evening he and the elders of Israel and put dust upon their heads. 0.93

00:22:08.740 And Joshua said, alas, O Lord God, wherefore have you at all brought this people over Jordan to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites to destroy us? 0.99

00:22:17.300 Would to God we had been content and dwelt on the other side, Jordan.

00:22:21.840 This is crazy to hear Joshua say this, because this is like how they bickered against Moses, how they murmured against Moses.

00:22:27.740 It's so wild to hear Joshua talk like that.

00:22:30.980 O Lord, what shall I say when Israel turns their backs before their enemies? 0.92

00:22:34.260 For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will turn us around and cut off our name from the earth. 1.00

00:22:40.920 And what will thou do unto thy great name?

00:22:45.120 So he is like Moses in the sense that he's concerned for the name of God.

00:22:49.200 And the Lord said unto Joshua, get up.

00:22:52.160 You've got to be tight with God for him to talk to you like that.

00:22:54.580 Get up.

00:22:55.640 Wherefore, Elias, do you on your face?

00:22:57.540 Israel has sinned, and they've transgressed against my covenant, which I commanded them. 1.00

00:23:01.320 For they have even taken of the cursed thing and have stolen and dissembled also.

00:23:05.420 And they put it even among their own stuff.

00:23:07.400 He said, you think they just died for no reason, bro?

00:23:09.820 You just went up to AI and you guys just died for no reason?

00:23:12.240 No, somebody in the camp has the cursed thing.

00:23:16.120 Therefore, the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turn their backs before their enemies, because they were cursed.

00:23:22.360 Neither will I be with you anymore, except you destroy the curse from among you.

00:23:26.180 Dude, I know there's people in the chat that know they have a cursed thing in the house, because I remember when I had cursed stuff in the house.

00:23:33.020 I'm just being honest with you.

00:23:34.560 I had to make like a very, like, I came to know the Lord, and like everything I had was like tied to the occult, dude.

00:23:42.320 I had even like little Buddhist statues and just crap I had picked up at just like head shops and just like crazy, like shows over the years, like music shows and events and stuff.

00:23:52.900 And I had so much cursed stuff in my house tied to the occult.

00:23:56.460 And just like, I remember Jess coming home from trips before, like everything on our walls was gone.

00:24:01.720 She came in and was like, what the?

00:24:03.580 Where's all our stuff?

00:24:04.540 And I had just burned everything out back.

00:24:07.500 Like we bring cursed things into our lives, man.

00:24:10.120 And we got to be mindful of it, dude.

00:24:11.960 We've got to be very mindful of it.

00:24:14.080 Like cursed things like are a big deal.

00:25:02.960 I tell you about the curse thing that we got.

00:25:05.260 Oh, yeah.

00:25:06.220 Well, I mean, I know a little bit about the curse thing that you got.

00:25:08.980 I can't say exactly what it was.

00:25:10.600 Yeah.

00:25:11.180 No, no, not that thing.

00:25:14.600 Oh, okay.

00:25:15.280 What thing?

00:25:15.840 A literal curse thing.

00:25:16.880 I'll tell you what it was when I think it is.

00:25:19.200 But I gave it back to David and he threw it in.

00:25:23.020 He threw it in like the sewer.

00:25:26.900 Yeah.

00:25:27.180 I mean, in the book of Acts, they burned a bunch of their stuff.

00:25:29.320 There was like millions of dollars worth of like books on incantations and stuff.

00:25:34.440 It looks like in the book of Acts.

00:25:35.940 Yeah.

00:25:36.140 And they burned it all, man.

00:25:37.360 Like tons of money worth of like witchcraft type of stuff. 0.82

00:25:40.700 This thing was heavy.

00:25:41.680 Had a bad feeling to it.

00:25:42.840 Never liked it.

00:25:43.820 I'll tell you after.

00:25:44.920 Yeah.

00:25:45.360 Crazy stuff.

00:25:45.960 All right.

00:25:46.700 So this is what God says up.

00:25:48.460 Sanctify the people and say, sanctify yourselves again.

00:25:53.800 Wait, wait, wait.

00:25:54.600 I hope I didn't miss verse 12.

00:25:56.080 Therefore, the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turn their backs before their enemies because they were cursed.

00:26:01.380 Neither will I be with you anymore, except you destroy the curse thing from among you.

00:26:05.300 That's a big deal, man.

00:26:06.800 Up.

00:26:07.180 Sanctify the people and say, sanctify yourselves against tomorrow.

00:26:09.860 For thus sayeth the Lord God of Israel, there's a cursed thing in the midst of you, O Israel. 0.93

00:26:14.420 You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the cursed thing from among you.

00:26:18.560 In the morning, therefore, you shall be brought according to your tribes, and it takes shall come according to the families thereof.

00:26:27.060 And the family which the Lord shall take shall come by households, and the household which the Lord shall take shall come man by man.

00:26:33.980 And it shall be that he that is taken with the cursed thing shall be burnt with fire.

00:26:37.420 He and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of the Lord, and because he has wrought folly in Israel. 0.92

00:26:44.060 So Joshua rose up early in the morning and brought Israel by their tribes, and the tribe of Judah was taken. 0.69

00:26:48.580 And he brought the family of Judah, and he took the family of the Zarhites, and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man, and Zabdi was taken. 0.92

00:26:55.880 And he brought his household man by man, and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah was taken.

00:27:01.940 And Joshua said unto Achan, my son, Give, I pray thee, glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make confession unto him.

00:27:08.540 And tell me now what you have done. Hide it not from me.

00:27:11.560 And Achan answered Joshua and said, Indeed, I have sinned against the Lord God of Israel.

00:27:15.860 And thus and thus have I done.

00:27:17.240 When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment,

00:27:21.600 I'm sure you guys can unpack that, what that Babylonish garment was capable of, and what kind of special powers it had.

00:27:27.080 And 200 shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of 50 shekels weight.

00:27:33.420 Then I coveted them and took them, and behold, they are hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

00:27:38.720 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran under the tent, and behold, it was hidden in his tent, and the silver under it.

00:27:44.400 And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel,

00:27:49.360 and laid them out before the Lord.

00:27:50.800 And Joshua and all Israel with him took Achan, the son of Zerah, and the silver in the garment, and the wedge of gold, 0.93

00:27:56.280 and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent. 0.61

00:28:00.360 All that he had, and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.

00:28:03.180 And Joshua said, Why have you troubled us?

00:28:05.540 The Lord shall trouble you this day.

00:28:07.680 And all Israel stoned them with stones, and burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones. 0.91

00:28:12.540 And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day.

00:28:15.400 So the Lord turned from the fierceness of his anger.

00:28:18.060 Wherefore, the name of that place was called the valley of Achor unto this day.

00:28:21.340 Okay, so I know that was long-winded, but I just wanted to kind of tell that story.

00:28:28.460 Well, for one, because I wanted people to know about the cursed thing, man.

00:28:31.480 Because I think it'll be a blessing to you if you get some of the cursed stuff out of your house, man.

00:28:35.500 Like I just, like I said, I know that because I lived it.

00:28:37.860 Because I had that stuff, and I have to imagine just watching the chat and stuff,

00:28:41.360 and kind of getting to know everybody.

00:28:42.980 You guys might be in that same position that I was early in the game, too, man.

00:28:46.700 You might want to go through some of your stuff and say, if this is not a thing glorifying God,

00:28:51.460 it may have some, like, wicked and evil attached to it.

00:28:54.360 I don't want this in my home, and I don't want its effects on me and my loved ones anymore,

00:28:58.580 and I want to get rid of it.

00:28:59.820 And for me personally, that was a huge blessing in my life.

00:29:02.540 That was a huge blessing in my life.

00:29:05.060 But the point that I was trying to make about this was this was all about the lust of the eyes.

00:29:09.580 And if you look back at verse 21, he says,

00:29:12.620 When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment and 200 shekels of silver

00:29:16.520 and a wedge of gold of 50 shekels weight, then I coveted them and took them.

00:29:20.460 And I just think this is a thing.

00:29:24.580 Well, I coveted, right?

00:29:27.360 Like, this is what we have to be mindful about, the lust of the eyes, man.

00:29:30.600 Like I was saying, I remember being in people's houses and being like,

00:29:33.020 Oh, I love their kitchen.

00:29:34.160 I wish I had that.

00:29:35.120 I saw.

00:29:36.020 I coveted.

00:29:36.760 You see somebody with a fancy car.

00:29:38.920 Oh, man, I see that car.

00:29:40.340 I like it.

00:29:40.760 I saw.

00:29:41.300 I coveted.

00:29:42.180 Like, we have to be mindful of these things because all of that is like the opposite of

00:29:46.640 being grateful.

00:29:47.340 We talk about being grateful a lot.

00:29:49.100 It's like looking at things and lusting after them and coveting after them.

00:29:52.200 Like, look at this story.

00:29:53.180 God is providing for them with nothing.

00:29:55.820 He's pulled them out of the most powerful empire on the planet, Egypt. 0.99

00:29:59.180 He's brought them out and he's completely taking care of them.

00:30:02.420 And this guy's basically saying, yeah, but I need a little more.

00:30:05.260 Like, God's not enough.

00:30:06.520 And that's why we had to be mindful about the lust of the flesh and the lust of the

00:30:10.360 eyes and the pride of life.

00:30:12.040 Okay.

00:30:12.260 So we're back to 1 John 2 15.

00:30:14.580 Thanks for hanging in there.

00:30:15.340 I know that was a long story, but I think it'll be a blessing, even though it took a

00:30:18.380 little while.

00:30:19.240 So 1 John 2 15.

00:30:22.700 I want to pull another thing out of this passage.

00:30:24.940 It says, love, not the world, neither the things that are in the world.

00:30:28.680 So let's look at this.

00:30:30.340 Let's look at Matthew 13.

00:30:33.820 1 through 9.

00:30:35.700 Okay.

00:30:38.200 Same day when Jesus out of the house and sat by the seaside and great multitudes were 0.83

00:30:43.060 gathered together unto him so that he went into a ship and sat and the whole multitude

00:30:47.500 stood on the shore.

00:30:48.420 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow.

00:30:54.900 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside, and the fowls came and devoured them

00:30:59.480 up.

00:31:00.700 Some fell upon stony places where they had not much earth, and forthwith they sprung up,

00:31:05.780 because they had no deepness of the earth.

00:31:07.500 And when the sun was up, they were scorched, and because they had no root, they withered

00:31:12.740 away.

00:31:14.740 And some fell among the thorns, and the thorns sprung up and choked them.

00:31:18.780 But others fell into good ground and brought forth fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixtyfold,

00:31:24.560 some thirtyfold.

00:31:28.560 Who hath ears to ear, let him hear.

00:31:30.480 All right.

00:31:30.780 So this is the parable of the sower.

00:31:32.980 Here's Jesus breaking it down, starting in verse 18.

00:31:35.460 Hear, therefore, the parable of the sower.

00:31:39.100 So he just broke it down, like the seed, how it falls, what happens to each one when it

00:31:44.700 falls.

00:31:45.040 Watch this.

00:31:45.720 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and understands it not, then comes the wicked

00:31:50.380 one and catches away that which was sown in his heart.

00:31:53.480 This is he which received seed by the wayside.

00:31:56.800 So this is why we try to make a point of people understanding what we're talking about.

00:32:01.500 It's a big deal to understand what we're talking about, because if you don't understand

00:32:05.440 it just comes and goes.

00:32:07.120 You might be able to repeat it.

00:32:08.320 I think there's a lot of that, actually.

00:32:09.720 There's a lot of memorization, repeating things, and people able to parrot things from people

00:32:14.080 they see on YouTube or from commentaries they read or whatever.

00:32:17.900 But that's much different than understanding it.

00:32:19.840 So we always want to make sure people are understanding.

00:32:21.900 Sort of apostate teaching, people that read it but don't understand the true meaning of

00:32:28.140 it, and then it turns into this strange thing.

00:32:31.740 But you can have it in the church, too, in the normal professing church, people who are

00:32:36.180 just parroting things.

00:32:37.760 And then the congregation is never really getting it.

00:32:40.140 Well, it's like the guy preaching it doesn't really get it.

00:32:42.400 You can only impart.

00:32:43.780 What do people say?

00:32:44.460 It's only as real through you, as real as it is to you.

00:32:47.080 If it's not real to you, it won't be real through you to other people.

00:32:51.120 That's just how the spirit realm works, dude.

00:32:53.040 So you can stand in the pulpit and say stuff that's not wrong, but people are never getting

00:32:58.040 it.

00:32:58.720 They're not getting it.

00:33:00.060 I remember, especially in the early days when we would go to church, and Jess would

00:33:04.000 be like, let's go.

00:33:04.720 I got to go have a cigarette.

00:33:05.660 Let's go.

00:33:06.080 Let's go.

00:33:06.300 I got to get outside.

00:33:07.320 And it would just be like, she's like, I don't understand what the guy's talking about.

00:33:11.020 And I would be arguing with her and saying, no, we're like church people now.

00:33:14.080 We got to do this.

00:33:15.120 This is what we got to do.

00:33:16.200 We have to change our old ways. 0.98

00:33:18.380 But she would say that, and I'd be like, damn, she's right. 0.94

00:33:21.420 This guy, man, you don't really get what he's saying because he's never getting anywhere 0.98

00:33:26.520 with what he's talking about.

00:33:28.020 It's just madness.

00:33:29.600 But I don't know.

00:33:30.160 The longer I live, the more I think because it's not real to him.

00:33:33.700 That's why he can't impart it to anybody else, dude.

00:33:36.320 You're just sitting in the crowd just going like, uh.

00:33:39.760 You have to intrinsically understand a thing to teach it to somebody.

00:33:43.060 Yes.

00:33:43.900 And if you don't, this passage is clear that people won't get it.

00:33:47.680 That seed will just be snatched away.

00:33:50.220 But he that received the seed in the stony place is the same as he that hears the word.

00:33:54.380 And with joy, he receives it.

00:33:56.700 The implication is like with understanding, with joy, he receives it.

00:34:00.980 He yet hath he no root in himself.

00:34:04.180 Right.

00:34:04.340 This is shallow people.

00:34:05.600 He has no root in himself.

00:34:07.620 He endures for a while.

00:34:08.740 But when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word by and by, he is offended.

00:34:15.660 So they've got to develop depth to themselves.

00:34:18.120 Right.

00:34:18.780 They got to get a little more gritty.

00:34:20.440 They got to have a little bit more of a story.

00:34:21.960 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the word and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word and he becomes unfruitful.

00:34:37.860 Do you see what I'm saying?

00:34:38.580 This is what John's talking about when he says, love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.

00:34:45.100 He that receives seed.

00:34:46.760 Right.

00:34:47.060 So he's in church.

00:34:48.580 He's in the scripture.

00:34:50.000 He's receiving seed.

00:34:51.440 He's receiving the word of God.

00:34:53.480 He that receives the word of God among thorns is he that hears the word and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word and he becomes unfruitful.

00:35:49.900 So I was on to something with like the poor people that didn't love the world. 1.00

00:35:55.580 You know what I mean?

00:35:56.240 And then it wasn't that they were wrong.

00:35:58.880 It just made it easier for them, right?

00:36:00.640 Like these are these passages where Jesus says like, it'll be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter.

00:36:07.120 It's like people who are successful and thriving in that world system, it's very hard for them to push the world system aside and forsake all of that because they have a lot to lose.

00:36:21.300 Remember like the guy who's called the rich young ruler?

00:36:23.240 He comes in and says, hey, man, what do I have to do to inherit eternal life?

00:36:26.080 He goes through this whole thing with them.

00:36:27.180 And the last thing Jesus says, all right, man, there's one more thing.

00:36:29.440 You need to sell all that you have and give it to the poor.

00:36:31.480 Then you can come follow me and he goes away.

00:36:35.560 Why?

00:36:36.040 Because it was so hard because he was so rich is what it says, man.

00:36:39.280 Like if that guy didn't have anything, that would have been very easy for him to give up everything to come follow Christ.

00:36:44.300 You see what I'm saying?

00:36:45.420 And so people who are successful and thriving within that world system, it's very hard to reach those people because they don't want to forsake the world, right?

00:36:52.840 Especially if our message is that you need a savior.

00:36:57.000 You know what I'm saying?

00:36:57.600 If somebody's like doing so good at life, they're like, what are you talking about?

00:37:02.180 Like I got this great house.

00:37:03.620 I got a great car.

00:37:04.520 I got tons of money.

00:37:05.780 Well, this is a discussion that we had the other day.

00:37:08.660 I guess maybe I came off a little bit harsh towards poor people, but you just gave the example of the poor person.

00:37:15.540 And there are flaws with that person as well.

00:37:19.320 And then there's flaws with the rich man.

00:37:21.100 I think the idea is to be able to become rich, but then give it away.

00:37:25.840 You have to have that ability to know and then push it away.

00:37:30.400 Yeah.

00:37:30.540 Some people say it just has to be like this.

00:37:33.480 Your hand has to be like this, right?

00:37:35.240 Like the money comes in, the money goes out.

00:37:37.260 Capable of getting it though.

00:37:38.980 Yeah.

00:37:39.280 Yeah.

00:37:39.640 Capable because the hand's open.

00:37:40.760 Money can come in.

00:37:41.480 Money can go out.

00:37:42.360 It's when it goes in and people go like that.

00:37:44.900 Like that's where it gets a little ugly.

00:37:46.760 Right.

00:37:47.060 But it's just like, I don't know if you live in America and you work hard, you're probably, you might have a little money.

00:37:55.160 I'm like, I'm not trying to knock anybody who doesn't or say like, it's so easy or say, oh no, you don't understand.

00:38:00.240 I don't know.

00:38:00.860 I'm just saying if you live in this country and you live within your means and you don't buy a ton of crap and you don't go into debt.

00:38:06.680 I think that's what I'm talking about with the poor person, the person that is putting themselves in debt.

00:38:14.660 I'm like, this is not a person that should be listened to either because like you're doing this fruitless thing.

00:38:21.040 And that's inside biblical.

00:38:22.540 I know, but a lot of poor people struggle with decision making with money, dude.

00:38:26.360 Yeah.

00:38:26.540 And I don't want to knock them for that.

00:38:30.780 Like you watch and you're saying like, you're making this as hard as possible.

00:38:33.720 Why are you doing this?

00:38:34.560 People get money in their pocket and like burns a hole in their pocket.

00:38:37.820 And it's not because they're bad people.

00:38:39.480 It's just some people, it's a skillset, I guess.

00:38:42.180 Like to me, it just seems like you get money, you don't spend it.

00:38:45.620 Like you get money, you don't spend it.

00:38:47.320 You definitely don't buy things that you don't have money for.

00:38:50.900 Right.

00:38:51.380 But a lot of people just don't have that.

00:38:53.340 Right.

00:38:53.680 And they get, I don't know, maybe it's the lust of the eyes, man.

00:38:56.860 Is that like they see things and they want it so bad, they can't help but spend their money on it.

00:39:01.140 But you see it generation to generation.

00:39:02.920 Our boy Ed Mabry talks about it, man.

00:39:04.740 Like it happens through generations that like already appears to be a curse, man.

00:39:11.040 So we do have to live in the balance, man.

00:39:13.820 We do have to live in this balance of like whatever I have, God, thank you.

00:39:18.620 Thank you.

00:39:19.340 And yeah, this like whatever money I have, I don't want to spend it.

00:39:23.040 Like we talk about late in life on going on cruises and going golfing and spending all this money on myself. 0.93

00:39:28.240 First and foremost, I want to help my descendants to so that they can live a life where they can know you, Lord, and they're not bogged down by the hardship of poverty because poverty sucks, bro.

00:39:37.540 Those of us who have lived in poverty, like it sucks and not knowing how to pay your bills and where your next like bills are coming from, especially like when you have little kids.

00:39:44.660 Like this is a hard way to live, man.

00:39:47.440 It's a hard way to live.

00:39:48.500 And I'm not even saying like other nations where you don't know where your next food is coming from.

00:39:52.740 In this country, we typically know where our next food is coming from.

00:39:55.440 Even if we're like super poor, we still know where our food is coming from.

00:39:58.800 But like living check to check and just trying to figure out how to make bills is rough, man.

00:40:03.120 It's rough.

00:40:03.760 So I think like not loving the world and the things of the world.

00:40:08.760 Honestly, those people that are like in other countries and are dirt poor. 0.98

00:40:13.240 Way happier people.

00:40:14.220 Way happier, but even better off.

00:40:16.040 The poor people in this country, they have like enough to poison them, which is crazy. 1.00

00:40:22.360 Like you can get a phone that'll poison your brain.

00:40:24.960 You can get food that'll poison your stomach.

00:40:26.700 And that's like what you can continue to do in a cycle.

00:40:29.340 That's like poor in this country.

00:40:30.800 And that's really, that's bad.

00:40:32.820 Yeah.

00:40:33.580 Yeah, man.

00:40:34.360 I don't know.

00:40:34.920 But the world is just, we don't need the world's goods.

00:40:39.260 You know, there's another level to this too, man, which kind of, which kind of got unveiled

00:40:43.140 during coronavirus, which was like, I was in shock.

00:40:45.720 I know I've said it before, like how many churchgoers like rushed to get the injection

00:40:50.200 so that they could go on cruises and so that they could go to restaurants and so that they

00:40:54.760 could fly on airplanes to go places.

00:40:56.960 And I think, man, a lot of people need to really come to terms with like, how much do

00:41:03.260 I love the world?

00:41:04.240 Am I like, I just remember so many Christian people being so willing to inject this thing 1.00

00:41:08.720 into them.

00:41:09.080 We had no clue what it was at the time just so they could go on cruises and just so they

00:41:13.920 could go to basketball games and just so that they could go into restaurants and stuff.

00:41:17.380 And I remember being in shock by it.

00:41:18.900 And I remember thinking like, keep your basketball games, man.

00:41:22.800 Keep your airplanes, keep your, keep your cruise ships, dude.

00:41:25.640 I don't need the world's goods.

00:41:27.300 You're going to like lure me in and make me put, inject something in my body.

00:41:30.480 I don't even know what it is because I love the world's goods so much.

00:41:33.460 And then that was very telling and staggering to me that, that how much of the church was

00:41:37.880 in that place that loved the world's goods so much that it was willing to do that.

00:41:42.860 It's a blessing in a way when you think about it, because it revealed things that otherwise

00:41:48.600 would have never been able to have been revealed.

00:41:51.460 Like people would never be faced with that type of a strong situation and you wouldn't

00:41:58.000 be able to sit back and see what's what.

00:42:00.140 We just kind of be going blindly.

00:42:01.740 I don't know how many people learn from it.

00:42:04.020 I did.

00:42:05.780 So, and a bunch of people, I'm sure the chat did.

00:42:09.360 And it was wild to me.

00:42:10.400 Here's another reason.

00:42:11.220 And I've had this long thing with the world, dude.

00:42:13.380 Another thing is like in, uh, 2013, about 2010 to 2013, like in that time period, the

00:42:19.360 Lord really started to open my eyes about the wickedness of the world and how we don't

00:42:23.620 cause I, cause I figured out that I love drugs, but then I started figuring out I loved money

00:42:27.120 more than I love drugs.

00:42:28.320 And I never thought that before I got close to the Lord, I thought, yeah, like drugs is

00:42:31.900 my number one issue.

00:42:32.680 I love money as much as the next guy, but like drugs is my main issue.

00:42:35.820 And the Lord showed me, I love money more than I even love drugs.

00:42:38.980 And I had like some pride cause I got kicked out of my house as a kid.

00:42:41.880 And I was like, yeah, I'm self-made, you know, I'm like this self-made person and my wife

00:42:46.160 doesn't have to work.

00:42:47.020 And I take care of a family and little kids and look, I'm somebody important.

00:42:50.620 And I loved money.

00:42:51.700 And all my thoughts all the time was always about money.

00:42:54.860 It was about drugs too, but like it wasn't always about money.

00:42:58.360 It was always, always thinking about getting more money and doing more stuff with money,

00:43:01.840 money, money.

00:43:02.360 And the Lord had to like slowly, but surely like show me how wicked the world was.

00:43:06.340 And if you look at anything in 2013, all this stuff was about the wickedness of the world

00:43:13.740 and being coming out of the world and not being part of the world.

00:43:17.340 And I think sometimes dude, uh, the Lord is like, uh, the Lord will do this.

00:43:23.540 Like love you starting to know and understand all these things.

00:43:27.600 My construction career kind of started to skid and skirt off the path, dude, and kind of

00:43:33.480 like just go off a cliff in several doors for like where I was going to work at closed

00:43:38.660 in a very bizarre turn of events, a very bizarre turn of events, door closed, door closed, door

00:43:43.640 closed, door closed.

00:43:44.580 And the only open door was this sales job for the tile company Trinity that I've always,

00:43:51.280 that I was working for.

00:43:52.420 And it was like a sales role.

00:43:54.140 And I was incredibly like embarrassed to be a salesman, but it was the only door open.

00:44:00.160 And I knew it was the Lord, but I was so baffled of how could this be the Lord?

00:44:03.840 Like, why would the Lord call me to be a salesman?

00:44:08.360 I, and I'm gritty and I'm rough and people know they can trust me because I'm not a salesman.

00:44:12.520 I'm not trying to like sell anything or convince anybody of anything.

00:44:15.700 Now this is going to like ruin my witness.

00:44:17.580 Cause I'm going to be a salesman.

00:44:19.320 And I just felt so conflicted and so crazy, but I knew it was the Lord.

00:44:23.860 Like I know his guiding hand and I know he shut, shut, shut, shut, and then open this

00:44:28.160 thing right here.

00:44:28.600 And I was like, what?

00:44:29.380 And I would just be so conflicted.

00:44:31.080 And I went into this job and it was the most worldly job you could ever have.

00:44:35.420 And it opened up this whole sphere of the world that I never had access to before sitting

00:44:40.180 courtside at like basketball games, being in VIP events, like having several thousand

00:44:45.900 dollar dinners, like at the Bellagio where the, where the fountains go off in Vegas, like

00:44:50.280 on that platform with like hundreds of guests and stuff, taking customers to Italy, like

00:44:56.400 going to trade shows in Vegas and Chicago and Atlanta and like just huge, huge expense

00:45:02.940 account, like unlimited, unlimited expense accounts, spending money like left and right.

00:45:08.480 It was like, the Lord was like, Hey, that's a nice little theology you have, bro.

00:45:12.660 The nice little doctrine you've got.

00:45:14.380 Oh, the world's bad.

00:45:15.300 God, let's see if you really believe it, bro.

00:45:17.320 And like threw me into this thing where I was like in a washing machine. 0.99

00:45:20.360 Damn, you really fell off, Matt. 0.99

00:45:22.160 No, I didn't. 0.99

00:45:22.900 That's the thing that like, I mean, I probably did in some ways, but I always was like crying

00:45:28.180 out to God and saying like, God, what are we doing?

00:45:30.280 Like, yeah, I'm doing all this stuff.

00:45:31.680 I'm expected to do all this stuff.

00:45:33.080 I'm expected to go to several thousand dollar dinners and take people to several hundred

00:45:37.380 dollar lunches.

00:45:38.400 And I'm expected to sit courtside and like be at basketball games and do all this stuff with

00:45:42.600 people and like, I'm doing it for my job.

00:45:45.200 But like, am I going astray, God?

00:45:46.840 Like how much of this stuff can, can somebody's soul take of all these riches and luxuries

00:45:51.340 and luxurious living until it does start to affect them until it does start to take them

00:45:55.720 away.

00:45:56.040 And like, is this just dragging me away from you?

00:45:58.480 Like, am I deceived right now?

00:45:59.980 Am I in delusion about this?

00:46:01.340 Because I'm like doing all, whether I want to or not, I am doing all this stuff.

00:46:05.480 I'm like, where am I at with this?

00:46:07.300 And I just think he drug me through a trial to like, show me like, it's one thing to say,

00:46:11.240 I don't love the world because I didn't have access to all that stuff.

00:46:14.480 But it was another thing to be like, I don't love the world, even though I do have all access

00:46:18.160 to all that stuff.

00:46:19.020 And I was very grateful to get out of it.

00:46:21.080 That's the rich man giving away his riches.

00:46:23.480 I guess.

00:46:24.240 Yeah.

00:46:24.760 Well, the riches that we accumulated in that process, like by the grace of God, we didn't

00:46:28.900 spend it.

00:46:29.340 We saved it all and we opened a Christian library.

00:46:32.220 So in the end, I felt like I did understand why the Lord did what he did through that whole

00:46:36.240 time.

00:46:36.580 And through that process was like a two for one.

00:46:38.960 One was to see, do I really not love the world or is that just talk is cheap and I just

00:46:43.780 didn't have access to it because it's really easy for the poor person to say, I don't love

00:46:47.440 the world, but he never had access to all the goods of the world.

00:46:50.060 It's another thing if you had, if you played in that world and you said, no, no, no, I don't

00:46:53.000 want that.

00:46:53.560 I don't want any of that.

00:46:54.840 Did you have the ability to continue doing what you were doing?

00:46:57.660 Yeah.

00:46:58.500 But you made the conscious decision to do this now.

00:47:01.440 Yeah.

00:47:01.700 They were, they were not happy when I left it, but it was not, uh, people were definitely not

00:47:06.780 happy to do it too. 0.99

00:47:10.280 I thought I was like the stupidest person. 0.98

00:47:12.600 I'll tell you, it's a similar thing happened to me where I kind of gave up everything to 0.98

00:47:18.620 move here and start from, start from zero.

00:47:22.520 Not everything, you know, it wasn't like court side, but starting from zero.

00:47:26.340 But now I'm in a situation again where it's like, well, there is this obvious necessary

00:47:30.780 evil of money.

00:47:31.660 And it's like, well, if I got to do this thing, then I have to get money and I got to figure

00:47:35.040 out how to get it.

00:47:35.640 Now I'm in this, I feel like I'm in a trap again.

00:47:38.000 Does that make any sense?

00:47:38.800 Like, where it's like, what am I chasing money now?

00:47:41.080 Like to, to build this platform, it's, it's, it's contradictory to what I started and how

00:47:46.520 I've been operating.

00:47:47.580 Just remain true.

00:47:48.380 Then I think that's the main thing, man.

00:47:50.080 And if you remain true and you're like your goal from what you set out to do, you continue

00:47:54.560 in that and then money comes.

00:47:56.560 That's okay.

00:47:57.720 That's okay.

00:47:58.080 It's when we, like, we set our mind on like the money and the benefits of money and the

00:48:03.180 goals of money.

00:48:04.080 And it starts to overwhelm all of our thinking is really what it's about, dude.

00:48:08.760 It's really what about like what you're going to do in your free time, right?

00:48:12.400 Cause you sleep eight hours, you work eight hours, you got eight hours every day of free

00:48:15.680 time.

00:48:15.840 Like, what are you doing in that free time?

00:48:17.440 And what are you doing in your mind?

00:48:19.020 Like, where does your mind go?

00:48:20.760 Like when you wake up, when you're going to bed, when you have free time, is it always about

00:48:25.720 revolving around these things of the world or is it revolving around God?

00:48:30.900 Yeah.

00:48:31.020 It's revolving around the things of the world because I'm trying, cause I have to build something

00:48:34.900 else.

00:48:35.220 You understand?

00:48:36.040 Yeah.

00:48:36.360 And it gets crazy.

00:48:37.260 Yeah.

00:48:37.480 It's hard.

00:48:38.040 It's hard.

00:48:38.580 Yeah.

00:48:38.740 I wish I had like a one minor answer, but the reality is to stay grounded in God.

00:48:42.700 That's why it's good to cultivate a habit of getting up first thing in the morning and

00:48:46.320 reading scripture, like setting your alarm clock an hour early, get up, get with God,

00:48:51.160 know that like, he's going to guide your day as you get with him.

00:48:54.900 Cause you're, you're crying out to him in that first hour or two, as you're reading

00:48:57.860 through the scripture, you're saying, Lord, guide me today.

00:49:00.720 Keep me on track.

00:49:01.680 Don't let me go astray.

00:49:02.900 Don't let me trust myself.

00:49:04.180 I know all these warnings in the scripture about the world and my, I've just keep me on

00:49:09.600 track, Lord.

00:49:10.760 And then you just go about your business throughout the day, but you cultivate that habit and you

00:49:14.500 cultivate that discipline for him to keep you on track.

00:49:17.460 I mean, that's how I look at it.

00:49:21.240 Planet Fitness has everything you need.

00:49:35.000 See club for details.

00:49:36.640 Watch, look at this Matthew 16, 24 through 26, and just noticed it like over and over.

00:49:41.880 It's this choice between one or the other.

00:49:44.100 Then said Jesus unto his disciples.

00:49:45.980 If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me

00:49:51.500 for whosoever will save his life shall lose it.

00:49:54.620 And whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

00:49:57.740 For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?

00:50:03.100 See how they're always in like direct conflict or what shall a man give in exchange for his 0.66

00:50:07.540 soul?

00:50:07.800 Like what's your soul worth?

00:50:09.360 And I think we have to keep that in mind as we're doing our business throughout the day.

00:50:12.680 Like you're saying like you want to build this thing and you're working on, you want

00:50:15.420 to build this thing?

00:50:16.600 What good is it going to be to you if you build the most giant thing and the most giant

00:50:20.640 podcast?

00:50:21.300 You gain the whole world.

00:50:23.680 Looking at that context of like, all right, the context here is God.

00:50:28.680 Context here is like my relationship with and in him.

00:50:32.300 And then within that, within the reality of that, yeah, I'm doing this thing with the

00:50:36.320 podcast and hopefully glorifying him.

00:50:38.620 Hopefully that's your goal.

00:50:39.740 You know what I mean?

00:50:40.260 Through all of this.

00:50:42.420 Look at Matthew 6, 19 and 21.

00:50:45.840 We're just going to rifle through a couple passages that like, that do this.

00:50:49.340 Lay not, lay not up for yourselves treasure upon earth where moth and rust doth corrupt and 0.99

00:51:00.760 where thieves break through and steal.

00:51:02.360 But do lay out for yourselves treasure in heaven where neither moth nor rust is corrupt and

00:51:09.580 where thieves do not break through nor steal.

00:51:13.120 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

00:51:16.400 This is what it's all coming back to, man.

00:51:18.020 Like where, where is your treasure?

00:51:20.800 Your treasure here is your treasure in heaven.

00:51:24.180 Do you see what I'm saying?

00:51:24.660 So another thing with God and with Christianity is like, don't like refrain from those things 1.00

00:51:31.440 and then just go sit back at church and twiddle your thumbs.

00:51:34.500 That's not what he's saying.

00:51:35.440 I think a lot of people run into that.

00:51:36.680 Like, what do I do now that I'm a Christian?

00:51:38.140 Okay.

00:51:38.280 Don't say cuss words, eat at Chick-fil-A, say things like be blessed.

00:51:42.200 Like, but what am I doing?

00:51:43.360 No, no, no, no.

00:51:44.380 Be just as aggressive for things pertaining to the kingdom of God as you were for the things

00:51:48.960 pertaining to the world.

00:51:50.140 Do lay up for yourself treasure in heaven.

00:51:52.380 That's what he's saying.

00:51:53.200 Focus on the eternal realm now.

00:51:55.520 Go hard.

00:51:56.180 The same way you went hard for like drugs, money, all the stuff in this life, your career,

00:52:01.700 whatever it was you were going hard for, don't lose that.

00:52:05.340 Just, just flip that switch and take it to things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

00:52:09.080 Do not lay up treasure for yourself on earth, but do lay it up in heaven.

00:52:12.620 That's two commands.

00:52:14.000 That's two commands from Jesus.

00:52:16.760 All right, let's look at Hebrews 11, 13 through 16.

00:52:19.620 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off.

00:52:29.020 This is all the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11 that came before verse 13.

00:52:34.080 And were persuaded of them and embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims

00:52:38.180 on earth.

00:52:38.720 Boom.

00:52:38.880 Shout out, Matt Heppner.

00:52:39.880 Nope.

00:52:40.280 Strangers and pilgrims.

00:52:41.240 That's how we are on the earth.

00:52:42.940 That's what I'm trying to say.

00:52:43.840 We're in the world.

00:52:45.380 We're not of the world.

00:52:46.600 We're kind of mingling.

00:52:47.860 We're in, we're out there doing our thing, but we're not part of that.

00:52:50.680 We're just pilgrims and strangers just passing through.

00:52:53.380 Like our citizenship is in another realm.

00:52:56.000 It's another kingdom that can't be seen.

00:52:58.260 Our citizenship isn't here. 0.87

00:53:00.180 I know you're like, no, I'm an American first.

00:53:02.100 That's okay.

00:53:02.820 That's okay.

00:53:03.220 But as time goes on, you more and more cultivate the citizenship of the kingdom of God.

00:53:07.980 And then whatever nation you live on, on the planet, that's secondary.

00:53:12.940 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.

00:53:16.660 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might

00:53:20.920 have the opportunity to return.

00:53:26.540 But now they desire a better country that is in heavenly.

00:53:31.200 Wherefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.

00:53:34.940 Yeah, God is not ashamed to be called my God, because I have openly said, I'm forsaking

00:53:40.500 this world.

00:53:41.240 I'm just a pilgrim and a stranger here.

00:53:43.300 My sights are set on God.

00:53:44.680 My sights are set on this heavenly city, this heavenly kingdom that I belong to.

00:53:48.900 So that's our thing in the earth.

00:53:51.200 There's this really rad movie, me and Jess love it, called Valerian.

00:53:55.340 And there's like, it's like a space movie.

00:53:59.540 You know what I'm saying?

00:53:59.980 There's like all these different cultures from like different space places.

00:54:03.180 And there's like this one group of the people that they have these little animals that drop

00:54:08.760 these pearls.

00:54:09.340 And that's like what kind of rebuilds their country and stuff, their planet.

00:54:12.940 It's a rad movie.

00:54:13.900 But anyway, some stuff goes down and these people kind of live with like hoodies on and

00:54:18.520 they live in the shadows of society until they rebuild their society.

00:54:22.960 And I just like, it's like a good type of like Christian living is like, I'm not out there 1.00

00:54:27.980 trying to change all of society.

00:54:29.680 I'm not trying to turn Hollywood Christian.

00:54:31.120 I'm not, I'm not trying to make Christian movies, Christian politics, Christian, whatever.

00:54:36.800 I'm not trying to do all that.

00:54:37.860 Like we kind of live in the shadows.

00:54:39.120 We kind of have the hood on.

00:54:40.380 We're just pilgrims and strangers.

00:54:41.560 Like this is not our home.

00:54:42.780 We're not trying to reform the world, right?

00:54:45.140 We live in the shadows.

00:54:46.500 We're kind of in the cut, but we bless wherever we go.

00:54:49.840 People don't even know it, but we bless wherever we go.

00:54:52.200 Like it blesses our sphere around us.

00:54:54.560 The sphere around us, people do better at life.

00:54:56.980 People begin to thrive.

00:54:57.940 People begin to know the Lord because we have this impact on the world around us, but we

00:55:02.200 have no desire to be a part of that and have the world's goods.

00:55:05.680 Valerian.

00:55:06.140 It's a rad movie.

00:55:06.800 There's like this love part of it too, where the dude and the chick kind of like fall in

00:55:10.440 love.

00:55:10.680 It reminds me of me and Jess too.

00:55:11.900 There's like a really cool love story in it.

00:55:13.620 It's a rad movie.

00:55:15.260 I'll check it out.

00:55:15.820 Okay, so how about in 1 Corinthians 7 31, it talks about using the world, but not abusing

00:55:25.560 it.

00:55:25.840 I think that's a good picture too.

00:55:27.380 Was that in the notes?

00:55:28.420 No.

00:55:29.140 Okay, watch this.

00:55:30.040 1 Corinthians 7 31.

00:55:34.240 It says, and they that use this world is not abusing it for the fashion of this world

00:55:38.500 passes away.

00:55:39.580 I think that's a good description of what we're doing.

00:55:41.600 Like we're using the world, but we're not abusing it.

00:55:44.120 We're not really part of it.

00:55:45.320 Like we don't have a choice.

00:55:46.340 We have to live here.

00:55:47.200 We're not leaving.

00:55:48.200 We have to reach the lost.

00:55:49.700 We have to be in the mix, but we are not getting comfortable in abusing this world and making

00:55:54.540 it part of who we are.

00:55:55.540 It's not part of who we are.

00:55:57.580 Okay, let's look at Matthew 17 1 through 8 because I just want to, I want to say something

00:56:03.500 crazy right here.

00:56:05.480 And after six days, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John, his brother, and brings them up into

00:56:10.720 a high mountain apart and was transfigured before them.

00:56:13.580 And his face did shine as the sun and his clothes were white as the light.

00:56:17.300 And behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah talking with them.

00:56:20.320 Then answered Peter and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here.

00:56:23.680 If you will, let us make here three tabernacles, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.

00:56:28.700 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them.

00:56:31.900 And behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, this is my beloved son in whom I am well

00:56:35.660 pleased.

00:56:36.560 Hear ye him.

00:56:37.500 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face and were sore afraid.

00:56:42.620 And Jesus came and touched them and said, arise, be not afraid.

00:56:45.360 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man save Jesus only.

00:56:49.140 Now, I just want you to hold that story in your heart.

00:56:52.000 And now let's look at Romans 12, one and two.

00:56:54.800 Just kind of keep, keep that whole thing you just read.

00:56:57.800 I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies

00:57:03.440 a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

00:57:08.800 And be not comforted to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind

00:57:13.600 that ye may provide what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

00:57:19.200 Okay.

00:57:19.660 What it really says was be not conformed to this.

00:57:23.980 I can't do this.

00:57:25.360 What did I say?

00:57:26.160 Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

00:57:32.600 Well, that's what I put, I put the words of so people could fact check me.

00:57:36.440 But the whole, but the whole thing that I wanted to get at was that same word where

00:57:39.720 it says that Jesus was transfigured that we just read in Matthew 17.

00:57:43.400 That's the same words that says right here, where it says, be not conformed to this world,

00:57:46.980 but be transformed.

00:57:48.180 Like as radical as that change was to Jesus when he was transformed, when he was transfigured,

00:57:54.240 that's what our life is supposed to be like.

00:57:56.660 And dude, in a weird way, I feel like the longer I'm doing this, I'm like, that did happen.

00:58:01.420 Like that did happen to me.

00:58:02.580 Like I'm, I'm drastically as much as Jesus was.

00:58:05.400 And then he was so bright like that.

00:58:06.800 I had, I've had that much of a change.

00:58:08.880 I feel like, man, I feel like that word it's metamorpho, like metamorphosize or whatever.

00:58:15.260 Like it's a metamorphosis, like there's like a butterfly.

00:58:18.280 Yeah.

00:58:18.380 Like there's that much of a change, dude.

00:58:20.400 It's saying be that it's saying be not conformed to this world.

00:58:24.500 I forget which translation it is.

00:58:26.200 It says, don't let the world form you and press you into its mold.

00:58:30.520 Isn't that wild?

00:58:31.620 And isn't that exactly what the world's trying to do, bro?

00:58:34.260 If you think about it, as you watch the TV shows and you go on the Twitter or the X,

00:58:38.820 I'm going to start calling it the X now because it's called the X.

00:58:40.960 Um, and as you just do this stuff in life, it's just, the world is just trying to form

00:58:47.180 you into its mold and press you.

00:58:49.260 And like, you know, when you're making cookies at Christmas time, they press into this thing.

00:58:52.740 And then here's the shape of it.

00:58:54.000 And the world is just pressing you into this mold to make you a certain way.

00:58:57.860 Don't let it do that.

00:58:59.120 Don't let the world do that, man.

00:59:00.940 Be not conformed to this world.

00:59:02.600 Don't let it press you into its mold, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

00:59:07.440 Be transfigured by the renewing.

00:59:09.640 I'm pretty sure this says be comforted, but.

00:59:11.900 No, be conformed.

00:59:13.520 It says, it says be not conformed to this world, right?

00:59:17.420 So these are clear directions from the scripture.

00:59:19.900 That's why we're bringing this up.

00:59:21.100 We really want to bring this up.

00:59:23.900 Let's look at Psalm one.

00:59:25.300 Do we have Psalm one in the notes?

00:59:26.540 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the

00:59:37.920 way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

00:59:41.000 But his delights in the law of the Lord, and his law doth meditate day and night.

00:59:46.660 Okay, so look at the contrast, right?

01:00:02.940 See club for details.

01:00:04.420 When you see the law of the Lord like this, this is not the law of Moses, right?

01:00:07.860 I know we've gotten sideways on that the last couple of weeks, but this is talking about

01:00:11.960 like the eternal word of God, the scripture.

01:00:14.700 Blessed is the man that doesn't walk in the counsel of the ungodly.

01:00:18.740 How like, I don't know.

01:00:19.960 Now that I'm in this sphere and in this realm of like the people on podcasts and stuff, and

01:00:25.400 I get sent these things of like what got said on the X and like, I don't know, just

01:00:30.280 all these things and all this, like this guy said this and that guy said that.

01:00:34.500 And I just read these things and I'm like, how much, how much are people?

01:00:38.100 Getting their counsel from the ungodly.

01:00:41.340 Like, oh no, no, but this guy's cool though.

01:00:43.100 Like he's cool on the X.

01:00:44.600 He's really cool on the podcast.

01:00:46.500 Yeah, but he's ungodly.

01:00:48.160 You know what I'm saying?

01:00:49.220 And like, at some point we've got to get that balance back, dude.

01:00:52.360 Look at this.

01:00:53.160 Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly.

01:00:56.460 Dude, I love listening to like Joe Rogan, like as much as anybody, bro.

01:01:00.940 Like I, like I, I, I'm so grateful to him, especially for like the different scientists

01:01:04.600 he's had on and the health people like Dr. Rhonda Patrick, um, Andrew Huberman, or even

01:01:09.740 just like wild people, older dudes that stay in good shape and they motivate you to do good

01:01:14.240 like Laird Hamilton or Goggins or Cam Haynes.

01:01:17.360 Like I'm so grateful for those guys, but I have to keep a balance that I'm not getting

01:01:21.040 counseled by the ungodly.

01:01:22.680 Does that make sense?

01:01:23.600 Right.

01:01:24.000 Yeah.

01:01:24.140 Yeah.

01:01:24.300 Don't walk in his counsel.

01:01:25.380 Like I made that mistake with Jordan Peterson for a while and then I withdrew from it because

01:01:31.040 they're just men and they're, they're really not even, they don't really have good doctrine

01:01:36.200 at all.

01:01:36.860 But it's like within this world system, they're like the best within the world system, but

01:01:41.220 they still take what you can.

01:01:42.600 Yeah, sure, sure.

01:01:43.680 But we just want to make sure we're not walking in the counsel of the ungodly and we're having

01:01:47.020 a balance in this.

01:01:48.040 Like, yeah, there is a lot of good things to learn, especially I, it's been a blessing

01:01:52.520 to us, to me and Jess, both older people living in good health.

01:01:56.040 Cause we do want to be mindful of like living healthy and being healthy.

01:01:59.120 And there has been a lot we've learned like older people. 0.98

01:02:01.860 Yeah.

01:02:02.160 From like even ungodly, but they have things of the world.

01:02:05.240 They have some wisdom of the world that does help us a little bit.

01:02:07.980 That's okay.

01:02:08.360 But we have to keep a balance.

01:02:10.100 And I think for a lot of people, there's just no balance, dude.

01:02:12.720 Just all, everything they're feeding their spirit is stuff from the ungodly.

01:02:16.420 And there's gotta be a balance, man.

01:02:18.680 But look at the opposite.

01:02:19.900 His, uh, blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in

01:02:24.060 the way of sinners, nor sits in the sea of the squirmful.

01:02:26.120 But his delight is in the law of the Lord.

01:02:28.300 And in his law, does he meditate day and night?

01:02:30.580 He thinks about it.

01:02:31.780 And he talks about it day and night.

01:02:33.340 Like, this is what's in his heart.

01:02:34.700 This is what's in his mind.

01:02:36.180 This is what comes to his mind.

01:02:38.600 To his mind.

01:02:39.780 Stories from the Bible come to his mind, like concepts and metaphors and like stories and

01:02:45.620 parables come to his mind from the kingdom of God.

01:02:48.960 Like that, like that's how he operates.

01:02:50.780 This is, this is an interesting scripture because when we're talking about meditating,

01:02:54.500 like this is like a new age practice.

01:02:56.120 You'll see this with yoga a lot and things like that.

01:02:57.740 And they're like, meditate, clear your mind, empty your mind.

01:03:00.720 But he's saying, meditate here on the things of God.

01:03:03.900 Amen.

01:03:04.280 That's the difference.

01:03:05.040 Yeah.

01:03:05.260 We talked about that before where the people want to do meditation in the back.

01:03:08.380 And I said, no, no, no.

01:03:08.960 We don't do meditation like Eastern style meditation here.

01:03:12.420 They said, why not?

01:03:13.160 I said, because then if you open up your spirit to anything that come in, then anything will

01:03:17.320 come in.

01:03:17.820 Yeah.

01:03:18.080 They said, yeah, that's what we're trying to do.

01:03:19.500 And I said, well, yeah, we don't do that here because then entities will come in.

01:03:22.880 Not in this casino.

01:03:24.020 Exactly.

01:03:24.460 They said, what do you mean entities?

01:03:25.760 I said, demons.

01:03:26.800 And she was pissed.

01:03:27.660 Like she was so mad.

01:03:29.120 She said, we're not summoning demons. 0.94

01:03:30.520 We're summoning light.

01:03:31.580 And then I almost said, yes, Satan, you know, disguised himself as an angel of light.

01:03:35.340 But I didn't.

01:03:36.080 I just let it go.

01:03:36.920 And then all those boomers were nasty to me from there on out. 1.00

01:03:41.160 But I had warned them already that like they could use the room for some other stuff they

01:03:44.860 were doing.

01:03:45.420 And they just kind of just wanted to take over and do like new age stuff.

01:03:49.300 So but watch what the dudes like.

01:03:51.620 So anytime you see the scripture, I'm like meditating on the word of God.

01:03:54.920 It doesn't mean like clearing everything out.

01:03:56.660 First off, it means meditating on the word of God, not nothing.

01:04:00.100 But then it means talking about it as well.

01:04:02.060 It's not like Eastern meditation where it's just silent and shut your brain off.

01:04:05.660 It's like taking in the word, discussing it.

01:04:07.860 Like this would be a form of meditating on the word of God, discussing, talking through

01:04:11.540 it.

01:04:11.840 Do you see what I'm saying?

01:04:12.960 Those people, those people will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings

01:04:18.040 forth this fruit in his season.

01:04:19.620 His leaf also shall not wither and whatsoever he does shall prosper.

01:04:23.660 Biblical prosperity, not like the prosperity gospel with jets and like hosing people for 0.99

01:04:29.500 their money.

01:04:29.960 Not that, but biblical prosperity is like this lovely, flourishing, thriving life.

01:04:35.340 It's a tree that's like next to a river and nutrition and water for all of its needs.

01:04:41.160 And it fills up this tree and it's loaded with fruit and it's healthy.

01:04:44.580 It's got fruit and leaves and it's just this healthy branches going everywhere.

01:04:48.660 Like that's what our life can look like.

01:04:50.780 If we don't sit, if we don't walk in the council of the ungodly, but we do delight in the word

01:04:56.120 of God, the ungodly are not so, but they're like the chaff, which the wind drives away. 0.91

01:05:00.600 They just blow away.

01:05:02.120 Therefore, the ungodly won't stand in the judgment nor sinners in the congregation of

01:05:05.460 the righteous for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly

01:05:09.740 shall die.

01:05:11.000 There's only two options, man. 0.99

01:05:12.420 Like we're going to go the way of the righteous or the way of the ungodly.

01:05:15.680 And we just need to be mindful of this.

01:05:17.960 We just need to be mindful of this.

01:05:20.020 Planet Fitness has everything you need.

01:05:21.680 Anytime the motivation hits, join the club today and save $28 or more when you join for

01:05:25.980 just $1 down $15 a month.

01:05:28.080 Cancel anytime deal extended through January 16th, $49 annual fee applies.

01:05:33.640 See club for details.

01:05:35.520 All right, let's start breaking down.

01:05:37.440 Like what kind of, what is the issue within like this world system, right?

01:05:44.480 So look at 1 Corinthians 2, 11 through 14.

01:05:51.540 For what man knoweth the things of a man save the spirit of a man, which is in him.

01:05:56.080 Even so, the things of God knoweth no man, but the spirit of God.

01:06:00.200 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit, which is of God.

01:06:04.440 Two options.

01:06:05.160 Now we have received not the spirit of the world.

01:06:09.100 So there's a spirit of the world.

01:06:11.220 There's an actual spirit of the world.

01:06:13.240 We haven't received that, man.

01:06:15.520 That's why like it's in contrast to us.

01:06:17.640 When we see it in church, we don't like it.

01:06:19.580 We get cringy about it.

01:06:20.840 We're like, oh, they're like, like the worldliness in the church.

01:06:24.620 We don't have the spirit of the world.

01:06:26.260 So when we see that spirit of the world in the church, oh, we just think, oh, this is terrible.

01:06:32.040 This is awful.

01:06:32.720 To see the spirit of the world in the world is one thing.

01:06:34.700 In a Super Bowl halftime show, to see it in the church, you just go, oh, oh, this is brutal.

01:06:41.140 We have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit, which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given us of God.

01:06:48.820 Which things also we speak not in the words which man's wisdom teaches.

01:06:52.840 Remember, the world is based on man's wisdom, which things also we speak not in the words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches.

01:07:02.100 Comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

01:07:05.100 We can only, like when we compare scripture with scripture, we're comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

01:07:09.260 But the natural man receives not the things of the spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him.

01:07:15.460 Neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.

01:07:18.500 We brought this up in the Jude study, the scripture, I think.

01:07:22.180 We're talking about a brute beast.

01:07:24.660 Right, that they just can't get it?

01:07:26.720 Yeah, this is the scripture that we had read in the cross comparison of that.

01:07:31.780 Yeah, spiritual things are spiritually discerned.

01:07:34.740 We're not part of the world.

01:07:36.000 We're in the world.

01:07:38.100 Sorry, but we're not of the world.

01:07:40.580 And the point that I'm going to kind of build to is to maybe not be so rough on people who don't get it because they can't get it.

01:07:49.660 They can't get it.

01:07:50.560 These things are spiritually understood. 0.95

01:07:52.440 The world and the things of God, like it's foolishness to them.

01:07:56.420 So just keep that in mind.

01:07:57.900 I mean, I'm drawing this distinction between like where we live and where they live and how different it is.

01:08:04.400 And then I just want to kind of build towards this thing of like be mindful of the situation that the world is in before we're like so quick to.

01:08:11.820 I mean, for one, of course, we're not taking advice and counsel from them.

01:08:15.480 Of course, we're not.

01:08:15.940 But then on the flip side, we're also not being so nasty, demanding that they see things our way.

01:08:19.980 We mean nasty.

01:08:20.880 What's wrong with that?

01:08:21.360 You know what I'm talking about.

01:08:22.720 All right.

01:08:22.900 Look at 2 Corinthians 4, 1 through 4.

01:08:24.760 This is going to make it a little bit clearer.

01:08:26.000 Therefore, seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not, but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth, commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

01:08:44.860 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost, in whom the God of this world have blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

01:08:58.180 So this is loaded.

01:08:59.500 This is loaded.

01:09:00.600 The people that we're dealing with in the world, they're lost.

01:09:04.400 And why are they lost?

01:09:05.540 They're lost because the God of this world.

01:09:09.700 So now we're going to introduce everybody to this phrase, the God of this world.

01:09:13.920 Oh, you didn't know there was a God of this world, a lowercase g God of this world, just like there's lowercase g gods that rule over territories, that rule over like nations.

01:09:21.580 We talk about principalities and powers and rulers in high places.

01:09:24.700 We talk about like the Prince of Persia in the book of Daniel.

01:09:28.320 Remember, Gabriel couldn't get through because the Prince of Persia held him up.

01:09:31.060 Yeah, there's all these things that rule over territories, and there's one that rules the world, the God of this world.

01:09:37.640 And he's blinded the minds of them which believe not.

01:09:41.200 So just keep that in mind.

01:09:42.720 You're dealing with blind people before you just go off the rails with people. 1.00

01:09:46.640 Like there's a blind chick that comes in. 1.00

01:09:48.420 She's like the sweetest lady to this old Catholic lady.

01:09:51.380 She's like this sweet.

01:09:54.580 And imagine like how rough you could be to her.

01:09:58.120 She says, oh, what pastries do you have today?

01:10:00.440 And I go, oh, what do you mean?

01:10:02.000 You can't see the cinnamon rolls there.

01:10:03.600 Use your nose.

01:10:04.460 You can't see the cheese danishes.

01:10:06.440 Do you see what I'm saying?

01:10:07.200 I don't do that.

01:10:07.940 I don't do that with her.

01:10:08.500 I go, well, we've got the cinnamon rolls.

01:10:09.900 They're like really big.

01:10:11.100 You might even need a bag because you might be able to eat half of it, but not the whole thing because they're huge.

01:10:15.060 And we got the cheese danishes.

01:10:16.880 And sometimes when I talk to her, I just put my hand on her hand.

01:10:18.900 She's like the sweetest Catholic lady.

01:10:20.300 She's really like so sweet of a lady. 0.99

01:10:22.660 But she's blind, right? 0.92

01:10:23.760 You have to act different with them than you would with like a normal boomer at the register, 0.94

01:10:28.780 like asking for stuff and going, what pastries you got today?

01:10:31.880 She's not doing that. 1.00

01:10:32.820 She's blind. 0.98

01:10:34.040 You see what I'm saying?

01:10:34.940 You have to be mindful.

01:10:36.040 You have to care about people when you're dealing with them like that.

01:10:38.700 These people have been blinded.

01:10:40.820 Their minds have been blinded by the God of this world.

01:10:43.780 Okay?

01:10:44.000 So just keep this in mind that like we're dealing with the God of this world.

01:10:50.220 And I just want to start to get to this point of where like hurtful it is to the heart of God

01:10:57.680 to pledge allegiance to the world.

01:11:02.380 Do you see what I'm saying?

01:11:03.320 Because there is a God of this world.

01:11:05.220 I want to read a story from 1 Samuel 8 about like, I just feel like this is the ultimate grieving the heart of God

01:11:11.400 in regards to like loving the world instead of loving his kingdom.

01:11:17.640 If you don't know this story, this is like a good story for everybody to know.

01:11:21.400 This is another hard one to me.

01:11:22.800 This is another one that's like the story of David and Bathsheba.

01:11:26.220 And I'm just like, oh, this is another one that I hate reading it.

01:11:29.800 But it has to be read, man.

01:11:31.260 It has to be understood.

01:11:32.220 And I think this draws a stark contrast because I think you have to understand that the entirety of the Bible

01:11:37.140 is God telling his covenant people, his called out ones, his sanctified, his separated ones,

01:11:44.040 his anointed ones that he pulls out of the world. 0.58

01:11:46.300 And he says, you're not like the nations around you.

01:11:49.540 You are not like everything you see around you.

01:11:52.240 I've pulled different.

01:11:54.420 You're separated for a purpose.

01:11:56.520 You're something different.

01:11:57.920 You are no longer like the world.

01:11:59.760 And so if you screw up, you screw all of them, too, because they're your own.

01:12:04.520 You are their only example to see who I am.

01:12:08.420 OK, watch this.

01:12:10.480 One Samuel eight, starting in verse one.

01:12:12.340 And it came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel.

01:12:16.300 Now, the name of his firstborn was Joel and the name of his second Abiah.

01:12:19.300 They were judges in Beersheba.

01:12:20.800 And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre.

01:12:24.300 That's money.

01:12:25.340 And took bribes and perverted judgment.

01:12:27.200 So now these guys are in charge of the religious institution of their day.

01:12:30.260 And I know it sounds shocking, but they want the money and they take bribes and they pervert judgment.

01:12:36.620 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together and came to Samuel under Ramah and said unto him,

01:12:41.320 Behold, you are old and your sons walk not in your ways.

01:12:44.100 So Samuel was a righteous man.

01:12:45.600 But, oh, I hate this story.

01:12:47.720 He raised ungodly kids, man.

01:12:49.960 I don't.

01:12:50.360 It's so crazy.

01:12:51.160 Like you read the life of Samuel, the kids said unto him, Behold, you are old and your sons walk not in your ways.

01:13:00.060 Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

01:13:03.320 This is staggering because God is supposed to be their king.

01:13:06.500 When we talk about the law of Israel, the law of Moses that was given to Israel.

01:13:10.180 Yeah, they had religious law.

01:13:11.780 They had ceremonial law.

01:13:13.060 They had red light and stop sign law.

01:13:14.540 They had civil law because God was their king.

01:13:18.140 God was their king.

01:13:19.700 And here they come and saying, make us a king, like give us a human king so that we can be like all the nations around us.

01:13:28.100 Do you think that the 501c3 church is that modern king that we're asking for?

01:13:34.540 Because we had this discussion on a previous episode where like with Pastor Zach, we're like, well, what do we do?

01:13:40.340 And you were saying we need to like kind of hold ourselves accountable, the body of Christ.

01:13:45.380 But how do we hold ourselves accountable?

01:13:47.460 There has to be something at the top.

01:13:49.440 And right now that structure at the top, that weird church.

01:13:55.600 So it's almost like we've asked for the king and then we've gotten that 501c3 system.

01:14:00.100 You're touching something incredibly offensive.

01:14:01.620 This is like much more offensive.

01:14:02.780 My bad.

01:14:03.180 I'm just putting together.

01:14:04.140 No, you're saying that basically that thing has set itself up as God is what you're saying then.

01:14:11.040 Yeah.

01:14:11.380 In the Catholic church, definitely.

01:14:14.260 That's Antichrist.

01:14:15.160 The thing that sets itself in the temple as God is Antichrist.

01:14:19.300 That's in the Thessalonian letter.

01:14:21.680 So it's an incredibly valid and astute observation that in some ways that system sets itself up as God.

01:14:32.000 I'll give you an example.

01:14:32.820 You go to church in the 501c3 lobby and you tell somebody, yeah, man, I'm doing the best I can.

01:14:38.780 I'm still shooting heroin.

01:14:40.440 They'll say, it's okay.

01:14:41.920 You have grace, man.

01:14:42.900 It's okay.

01:14:43.260 I'm glad you're here.

01:14:44.240 You go in the next week.

01:14:45.480 You say, yeah, man, I'm doing my thing, trying to be a Christian, but I'm cheating on my wife.

01:14:49.240 It's okay, man.

01:14:49.840 You have grace.

01:14:51.900 Now, if you say to that same guy a month later, like, yeah, I'm not really going and watching the show on Sundays anymore.

01:14:58.280 He goes, oh, man.

01:14:59.380 Yeah, there's no grace for that.

01:15:00.780 You're backslidden.

01:15:01.960 You see what I'm saying?

01:15:02.420 It's almost like that system itself has set itself up in people's hearts as God.

01:15:08.200 It's a wild observation you're making.

01:15:10.100 I don't like that you're making it because I don't want to be, like, associated with that because I feel like you're going, like, a little wild right now.

01:15:15.320 He loves that.

01:15:16.320 No, I'm just saying it's something that I've noticed never verbalized, but when I do go there, that's how I behave.

01:15:23.500 Like, this is not God.

01:15:24.560 This is a place where stuff happens, but it is not.

01:15:28.620 Jesus is the head of the body. 0.90

01:15:30.160 Right.

01:15:31.300 This thing here is some sort of a tool.

01:15:33.960 I don't know if it's useful or not.

01:15:36.240 Yeah.

01:15:37.140 Never mind.

01:15:37.500 Sorry.

01:15:37.840 Continue.

01:15:38.680 Yes, sir.

01:15:39.540 Okay.

01:15:39.920 Now, verse six.

01:15:40.680 But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, give us a king to judge us.

01:15:44.460 And Samuel prayed unto the Lord.

01:15:46.360 And the Lord said to Samuel, hearken unto the voice of the people and all that they say unto you.

01:15:50.900 So Samuel goes to the Lord, he says, God will.

01:16:10.020 Only kingdom on the planet where you're our king.

01:16:12.380 All the other nations have a king.

01:16:13.780 And now they're saying they want a king.

01:16:16.520 Surely that's not okay, Lord.

01:16:17.860 What do you want me to tell them?

01:16:18.680 The Lord said unto Samuel, go ahead and hearken unto the voice of the people and all that they say unto you.

01:16:24.540 For they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

01:16:31.480 Oh, I cried the first time I read it.

01:16:34.920 I still cry sometimes when I read it.

01:16:36.420 I'm not going to cry now because I'm like on the show.

01:16:38.660 But if I was alone right now reading that, dude, I get teary-eyed, man.

01:16:41.660 I hate that that got said.

01:16:43.320 I hate that God says, they haven't rejected you, man.

01:16:47.160 They've rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

01:16:49.960 And if you read all of this part of it, that's why it matters to read the whole Bible in context.

01:16:54.280 You just go, man, he's been through so much with these people.

01:16:56.700 We read all this, this whole story of the creation of this nation and bringing them out of Egypt.

01:17:00.980 And then it comes to this and they reject God, that he should not reign over them.

01:17:04.640 And they just want to be like all the other nations. 0.94

01:17:06.120 And that's like us when we want to be like the world, man.

01:17:09.380 It's the same thing.

01:17:10.520 And it grieves the heart of God.

01:17:11.800 So all the people say, we want a king.

01:17:39.720 He says, okay, okay, but just so everybody's on the same page, this is what the king is going to be like.

01:17:45.460 You know what's crazy?

01:17:46.500 So the problem that the people had here was with the system because God set up a system and the system was our judges, right?

01:17:54.860 They're going to judge you, but I am the king and they're infallible.

01:17:59.360 So the judges falter and then they ask for something different.

01:18:02.860 It's just, this is a constant thing, but we need a system or at least we, I don't know.

01:18:09.180 We need some sort of guidelines as people.

01:18:11.540 Yeah, we have the Bible.

01:18:12.720 We have the Holy Spirit.

01:18:14.100 Like that's the thing.

01:18:15.080 As we try to set up man-made structures, it's, this is what happens.

01:18:18.320 Every time.

01:18:19.140 Yes.

01:18:19.480 And he said, this will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you.

01:18:23.820 He'll take your sons and appoint them for himself for his chariots and to be his horsemen.

01:18:28.420 And some shall run before his chariots, that's slaves. 0.86

01:18:31.240 He'll appoint him captains over thousands and captains over fifties and will set them to ear his ground and reap his harvest and make his instruments of war and instruments of his chariots, that's slaves. 0.94

01:18:39.680 And he'll take your daughters to be confectionaries and to be cooks and to be bakers, that's slaves. 1.00

01:18:44.520 And he'll take your fields and your vineyards and your olive yards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants, that's a thief.

01:18:50.200 And he'll take the 10th of your seed and of your vineyards and give to his officers and to his servants, that's a thief.

01:18:56.220 That's tithes, isn't it? 0.89

01:18:57.100 Yeah, but that's a thief, man.

01:18:58.780 I mean, he's just taking your stuff to give it to his officers and to his servants.

01:19:02.500 You're going to take a 10th of it.

01:19:03.540 It's biblical.

01:19:04.720 Stop. 1.00

01:19:05.340 And he'll take your men's servants and your maid's servants and your goodliest young men and your asses and put them to his work, slaves. 0.99

01:19:11.580 He'll take the 10th of your sheep and you shall be his servants. 0.99

01:19:15.420 And you shall cry out in that day because of your king, which you shall have chosen you.

01:19:20.100 And the Lord will not hear you in that day.

01:19:22.640 Everybody clear on this?

01:19:23.740 God's saying, okay, you want a king?

01:19:25.920 That's fine.

01:19:26.520 But let's just make absolutely sure before we put this in place.

01:19:31.160 If you guys change your mind and you cry out to the Lord, he will not hear you in that day.

01:19:37.080 You've gone past the point of no return.

01:19:39.180 He will not hear you in that day.

01:19:41.040 Are we all clear?

01:19:41.700 Samuel says this to the people as well.

01:19:44.420 God says this to Samuel and he tells the people.

01:19:46.120 Yeah, he says, go tell this to the people.

01:19:48.000 Nevertheless, the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel and they said, no, but we will have a king over us that we also may be like all the nations and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.

01:20:00.600 And Samuel heard all the words of the people and he rehearsed them in the ears of the Lord.

01:20:05.560 And the Lord said to Samuel, hearken unto their voice and make them a king.

01:20:11.220 And Samuel said to the men of Israel, go every man unto his city.

01:20:15.060 Do you see what I'm saying?

01:20:16.240 You see how ugly and filthy this is to turn from God to pledge allegiance to the world?

01:20:22.320 Does that story kind of lay that down?

01:20:24.800 And now we know that we just read in this last passage, we read about the God of this world, right?

01:20:32.680 Do you see how you see how like loving the world and pledge allegiance to the world could grieve God's heart so much now?

01:20:39.700 What I see here, too, is like time.

01:20:44.860 Time being this thing that God operates outside of and he does it on his time.

01:20:50.680 But the people, and I feel like this way a lot, you feel like this has to get done in a certain time because things are, you know, this political system with these judges is corrupt and we have to justify it within a certain time period.

01:21:06.260 We need a solution.

01:21:07.960 This is the solution that we think.

01:21:09.900 And then they do it.

01:21:11.200 But God seems to be saying like, just chill out.

01:21:14.340 Like, don't do those things in that time period.

01:21:18.300 Does that make sense?

01:21:19.080 Yeah, yeah.

01:21:19.960 Like, don't worry about it.

01:21:21.180 You guys are all operating in the way the world's thinking.

01:21:24.900 And yeah, this guy in the world came up with this problem.

01:21:27.820 We need to hurry up and make a solution, a worldly solution, according to this guy's solution.

01:21:32.820 He's from the world.

01:21:33.660 He's got a solution for this guy's problem.

01:21:35.620 Yeah, but because we exist in the world in the constraint of time in which like we feel like we have to make these solutions because I'm not going to be satisfied with an answer that with the solution that will come in my children's time.

01:21:48.360 I'm like, I kind of got to help this before they take, you know what I mean?

01:21:52.280 That's the difference between me and you.

01:21:53.220 I'm a bit of a time traveler as far as biblically speaking.

01:21:56.280 And so I don't really get caught up in all that.

01:21:58.200 I just trust the Lord.

01:21:59.440 Like, he's going to deal with my kids.

01:22:01.440 He's going to take care of my grandkids.

01:22:03.120 He's going to take care of all my descendants.

01:22:05.280 Like, he loves me and everything's good.

01:22:07.240 And I'm not in a rush to like, oh, they got Maduro.

01:22:10.760 We have to do something else.

01:22:11.960 Like, whatever, whatever.

01:22:13.400 They're going to do this.

01:22:14.160 Next thing you know, they're going to get Cuba and Mexico.

01:22:16.060 Whatever, whatever.

01:22:17.080 They're just doing their thing in the world.

01:22:18.680 I'm in the world.

01:22:19.440 I'm not of the world.

01:22:20.580 Like, I'm from another kingdom.

01:22:21.700 They're doing whatever they're doing.

01:22:23.140 Why would I even think that within that world system, in the so-called, like, media, they're feeding me anything that's true.

01:22:29.680 Like, who knows what they're doing at those levels, like, in the world stage?

01:22:34.420 Like, who cares, bro?

01:22:36.000 It's not my thing, man.

01:22:38.100 Okay, watch this.

01:22:39.280 Watch this.

01:22:40.700 We're talking about, like, grieving God's heart, this world system.

01:22:45.200 We're in Luke 4, 1 through 8.

01:22:49.840 And Jesus, being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being 40 days tempted of the devil.

01:22:56.600 And in those days, he did eat nothing.

01:22:58.080 And when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

01:23:03.060 And the devil said unto him, if you're the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

01:23:07.940 And Jesus answered him, saying, I can miraculously turn stones into bread or make miraculous, make bread out of nothing.

01:23:16.380 But I'll only do that with the crowd of 5,000 or the crowd of 7,000 at a later date.

01:23:20.920 I won't do that for personal gain.

01:23:23.020 He doesn't say it like that right here, but that's really what happens.

01:23:25.560 He's saying, miraculously make bread.

01:23:28.080 And Jesus has to be smiling because he knows, like, in a couple months or years, however much later the story is, he does miraculously make bread for crowds.

01:23:36.100 But he won't do it for personal gain.

01:23:38.380 Do you see what I'm saying?

01:23:39.480 Like, today, you've got people with, like, spiritual gifts that just hijack them and prostitute them for personal gain, man.

01:23:45.540 Just to be rich, just for whatever the world's goods are.

01:23:49.240 Jesus won't do that.

01:23:51.120 Okay, sorry, let me read it right.

01:23:52.520 And the devil said unto him, if thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

01:23:56.120 And Jesus answered him, saying, it is written that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

01:24:01.180 And the devil, taking him up into a high mountain, showed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

01:24:06.040 And the devil said unto him, all in the glory of them, for that is delivered unto me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it.

01:24:14.940 If thou therefore will worship me, all shall be thine. 0.96

01:24:17.920 And Jesus answered and said unto him, get thee behind me, Satan.

01:24:21.020 For it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

01:24:25.260 But notice what Satan says.

01:24:26.760 He says, all this power will I give thee in the glory of them, for that is delivered unto me.

01:24:32.380 He is the God of this world.

01:24:35.080 That's Satan.

01:24:36.580 All of these things that have been delivered unto me.

01:24:38.940 And that word delivered, it's a Greek word, paradidomi, paradidomi.

01:24:45.780 And it's the same word that means betrayed.

01:24:48.300 Like when Judas betrayed Jesus, that same word delivered, yeah.

01:24:52.500 Like Adam betrayed the kingdoms to Satan.

01:24:56.320 In betrayal, they were given to Satan.

01:24:59.100 It's the same word.

01:25:00.200 This is what Albarino's book is about in a way, although maybe he misses it.

01:25:05.060 No, Albarino doesn't miss it.

01:25:06.400 That dude's on it.

01:25:07.560 I mean, no, I mean, the book implies that we still have the birthright.

01:25:12.120 Well, we do.

01:25:13.060 We do.

01:25:13.460 We come out from under the authority of Satan by pledging allegiance to Christ, being born again.

01:25:17.660 Now we're part of that kingdom.

01:25:18.680 And now, boom, we've come out from under that, and we do have authority now.

01:25:23.120 But to those who have not come out from the authority of the God of this world, they're still under his rule.

01:25:28.160 That's why we would never go back and love the world.

01:25:31.800 Like our enemy is the God of this world.

01:25:34.640 But he says, all this power will I give thee in the glory of them, for that is delivered unto me, for that is betrayed unto me.

01:25:43.060 If you go back and look at the Greek, it's intriguing.

01:25:45.220 It's implying, yeah, that Adam, like, betrayed it.

01:25:47.540 The same way Judas betrayed Jesus.

01:25:49.200 Yeah, God gave it to him.

01:25:50.500 He was betrayed into Satan's hands.

01:25:52.400 But anyway, the point we're making is simply that he is the God of this world, and this is why it's so heinous, and we don't want to grieve God's heart to love the world anymore.

01:26:01.720 Like, we're not part of the world.

01:26:03.160 And when we do love the world, we're pledging allegiance to the God of this world, of how heinous it is.

01:26:10.660 Look at Ephesians 2, 1 through 5.

01:26:14.860 And you had thee quickened who were dead in trespasses and sins.

01:26:19.280 God brought you to life, even though you were dead in trespasses and sins.

01:26:22.660 Wherein in time passed, you walked according to the course of this world.

01:26:26.420 In time passed.

01:26:27.640 How dare we go back and walk according to the ways of this world again?

01:26:30.540 According to the prince of the power of the air.

01:26:34.060 You know, there's the two Greek words for air.

01:26:36.280 There's, like, the one that is air, and the other one that's, like, ether.

01:26:39.520 And it looks like this one isn't, like, the ether, like, the space, but it's, like, the air around the earth.

01:26:44.080 Some would say, like, the airwaves, like, the way how, like, media is done now, like, through the airwaves.

01:26:48.900 It's intriguing that he's the prince of the power of the air.

01:26:52.660 The spirit that now works in the children of disobedience, among whom also we all had our conversation in time past,

01:26:59.460 and the lust of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind.

01:27:03.080 And we're by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

01:27:05.820 But God, who is rich in mercy for his great love wherewith he loved us,

01:27:10.300 even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ.

01:27:13.440 By grace you are saved.

01:27:15.360 Right?

01:27:15.640 So I'm just shaping up this picture of the world, man.

01:27:19.060 There's this entity that he's the god of this world.

01:27:22.820 He's the prince of the power of the air.

01:27:25.180 Let's look at John 12, 28 through 32.

01:27:32.380 Just be real clear who you're pledging allegiance to if you love the world.

01:27:36.240 This is Jesus praying and God responding from heaven, and boom, this voice thunders.

01:27:56.760 Jesus answered and said,

01:27:57.920 This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

01:28:00.780 I wanted all you guys to hear it.

01:28:02.940 Now is the judgment of this world.

01:28:04.600 He's about to go to the cross, is what he's talking about.

01:28:06.380 Now is the judgment of this world.

01:28:09.340 This world be cast out, and if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. 1.00

01:28:15.300 You see what we're saying now?

01:28:17.220 They're like those who come out from under the authority of Satan.

01:28:20.400 I will be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. 1.00

01:28:23.360 So those are the people who have come out from under the rule of the god of this world.

01:28:26.920 So we've heard him be called the god of this world, the prince of the power of the air,

01:28:31.260 and here he's called the prince of this world.

01:28:33.960 In verse 31.

01:28:35.460 Also in John 16, 11 is another place where he's referred to as the prince of this world.

01:28:40.880 Let's look at John 14, 30.

01:28:43.400 I can just read it real quick.

01:28:46.100 This just says,

01:28:47.120 Hereafter I will not talk much with you, for the prince of this world comes and has nothing in me.

01:28:52.960 So this is Jesus getting ready to go to the cross,

01:28:55.260 and he's talking about how the prince of this world, Satan, is coming for him,

01:28:59.800 but he can't touch him because he has nothing in him.

01:29:02.980 And this is what I'm talking about.

01:29:04.020 We have to be mindful that he can't get any hooks in us.

01:29:08.320 We can't have anything in us that draws us to the world,

01:29:12.020 the things that we love in the world.

01:29:13.600 Like if we don't have those things, we forsake all those things.

01:29:16.860 And when Satan comes along and says,

01:29:18.100 You have to get the injection if you want to go on a cruise.

01:29:20.140 You go, I don't need the cruise.

01:29:21.420 You got nothing in me.

01:29:22.320 I have no desires for the things of the world.

01:29:25.180 What I have is in heaven.

01:29:26.400 What I want is in heaven.

01:29:27.620 My reward's in heaven.

01:29:28.680 My reward's not on the earth.

01:29:29.940 There's nothing here that you can like dangle in front of me

01:29:33.040 because we have to be mindful.

01:29:34.120 Satan's like that fish.

01:29:35.020 You know that fish that's like this?

01:29:36.480 And then he has like the dangly thing like this.

01:29:38.420 And then the little fish comes up here,

01:29:40.760 and he's like dangling the thing.

01:29:42.160 And then the little fish is like,

01:29:43.120 Oh, and the little fish is like bedazzled by the thing. 0.83

01:29:45.920 Like, Oh, man.

01:29:47.120 Yeah, this is like Satan.

01:29:48.560 And this is like the world.

01:29:49.500 He like dangles the world and little fishes,

01:29:51.540 but Oh, Taylor Swifty, you're the coolest.

01:29:53.700 Oh, I want to be cool.

01:29:54.440 Boom.

01:29:55.220 And then he's just eating you.

01:29:56.400 Do you see what I'm saying?

01:29:57.440 Like, that's how Satan operates.

01:29:59.180 He has things.

01:30:00.100 He has the world.

01:30:01.200 He tries to bedazzle you with it.

01:30:03.420 You go to it.

01:30:04.240 And then boom, he's got you.

01:30:05.420 He's got you.

01:30:05.940 Jesus says, yeah, not my case.

01:30:07.500 He's got nothing in me.

01:30:08.920 He's got nothing in me.

01:30:10.020 And you have to be intentional to set your life out like that.

01:30:12.480 Like, look at Lot's wife, right? 1.00

01:30:14.220 Like, they're getting rescued out of Sodom and Gomorrah.

01:30:17.580 And the one rule is don't turn around and look back.

01:30:21.940 You better be mindful.

01:30:23.280 There's not something in your life that you're going to turn around and look back for.

01:30:27.180 You better be mindful about that.

01:30:29.320 Like, what if it's the end and you're looking back, you're like,

01:30:32.740 Oh, but I really love my 401k.

01:30:34.460 Oh, man, I really love my car.

01:30:36.680 Oh, man, but I built up this reputation.

01:30:38.580 I built up this big business.

01:30:39.660 I built up this big thing.

01:30:40.960 And I don't want to leave it, man.

01:30:42.020 I don't want to go to the eternal realm.

01:30:43.240 I was like, look at how hard I work.

01:30:44.680 I want to look back and I want to have these things.

01:30:46.860 Or in Lot's case, I think it's even her children is why she looked back, dude.

01:30:50.060 We got to be mindful that we definitely have our children knowing the Lord and walking with the Lord.

01:30:54.700 Like, we just had to make sure we're setting everything up ahead of time to not be locked in

01:30:59.260 or to be entangled by the things of the world and by the things of Satan.

01:31:02.860 We need to be very mindful of that, that those aren't the things that move us.

01:31:09.100 We're almost done.

01:31:10.040 John 16, 32 and 33.

01:31:13.600 We're just like right here.

01:31:15.000 This says,

01:31:18.360 Behold, the hour comes, yea, has now come that you shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone.

01:31:27.620 Yet I'm not alone, because the Father is with me.

01:31:30.220 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace.

01:31:34.240 In the world you shall have tribulation, but be a good cheer.

01:31:37.860 I have overcome the world.

01:31:39.200 All right, so we're talking about this world system that we're not a part of.

01:31:44.080 We're not in the world.

01:31:45.400 We're in the world.

01:31:46.040 We're not of the world.

01:31:47.020 We don't love the world.

01:31:48.360 But our King and our Savior and the author and finisher of our faith has overcome the world, right?

01:31:55.860 Let's look at for us.

01:31:57.180 Let's look at 1 John 5, 4.

01:31:59.960 We're kind of going back to where we started.

01:32:01.420 We're back in 1 John.

01:32:02.760 1 John 5, 4.

01:32:09.200 1 John 5, 5.

01:32:39.200 There's something real and tangible in us, to us, faith.

01:32:42.840 Like, we have faith, and that's what overcomes the world.

01:32:46.200 Jesus overcame the world, and now we can overcome the world.

01:32:49.380 Whatsoever is born of God, that's us.

01:32:51.600 We're born of God.

01:32:52.520 We've been born again.

01:32:53.900 But whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world.

01:32:56.560 And this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

01:33:01.020 It was kind of lovely even what the raven was saying about his testimony.

01:33:03.740 And, like, that's all he's got.

01:33:05.300 You know, in the beginning, like, at least you got that.

01:33:07.220 You got to test passages.

01:33:09.740 Maybe you don't read Scripture every day.

01:33:11.540 But in the beginning, you've been saved from something, right?

01:33:14.780 And you've got this testimony.

01:33:16.280 We have our faith.

01:33:17.840 It's the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen.

01:33:21.320 And that's how we overcome the world.

01:33:23.360 Because we know there's something beyond this realm.

01:33:25.760 So this temporary goods of the world has no pull on me, has no draw on me.

01:33:29.820 I don't care.

01:33:30.360 I don't need it.

01:33:32.080 All right, let's just wrap it up with this then.

01:33:33.880 James 3, 13 through 4, 4.

01:33:37.740 And then this is just going to be the end right here.

01:33:40.980 I can't believe we made it with, like, not a crazy coughing episode.

01:33:45.500 Or maybe there was a bad coughing episode.

01:33:46.900 There was a couple.

01:33:47.380 We got to edit it out.

01:33:48.100 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

01:33:56.860 For in many things we offend all.

01:33:59.000 Wait a minute.

01:33:59.580 Wait a minute.

01:34:00.380 Can we get in the right passage?

01:34:02.320 This is the wrong passage.

01:34:03.400 James 3, 13.

01:34:05.860 Oh.

01:34:06.580 I got it.

01:34:12.820 I knew it right and it was wrong.

01:34:14.600 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you?

01:34:19.720 Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

01:34:24.660 But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not and lie not against the truth.

01:34:30.180 This wisdom descends not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

01:34:34.080 Remember, this whole thing we're laying out that we've been laying out this whole time is there's a way of the world.

01:34:39.340 There's a way of the kingdom of heaven and there's a way of the world.

01:34:43.340 There's a wisdom of this world, but it descends not from above.

01:34:46.860 It's earthly, man.

01:34:47.860 It's sensual.

01:34:48.760 It's devilish.

01:34:50.040 But it seems so good on the earth.

01:34:51.560 The guy wins all the tweeter wars, man.

01:34:53.220 He wins all the X wars because he's got all this wisdom of the world.

01:34:56.800 He's making all this cool stuff and business because he's got all the wisdom of the world.

01:35:01.060 We're not part of any of that.

01:35:02.620 We don't pledge allegiance to anything in this world.

01:35:04.840 We've already said that if we're pledging allegiance to the God of this world, to the prince of the power of the air, to the prince of this world.

01:35:14.820 We've laid out all these passages that the world is Satan's realm, and we're not part of that anymore.

01:35:20.600 We're in that system, but we're not of that system.

01:35:23.840 But the wisdom that's from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

01:35:32.300 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

01:35:35.980 From where come wars and fighting among you?

01:35:38.220 Come they not, hence even of your lusts that war in your members?

01:35:41.160 Now we're back to that beginning, right?

01:35:42.600 The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

01:35:46.060 Isn't this what's causing all this conflict in your own self and in the church?

01:35:50.580 You lust and have not.

01:35:51.820 You kill and desire to have and cannot obtain.

01:35:54.440 You fight and war.

01:35:56.140 Yet you have not because you ask not.

01:35:58.000 You ask and receive not because you ask amiss that you may consume it upon your lusts.

01:36:03.000 You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is the enemy of God.

01:36:28.000 We have not because of the way.
