Order of Man - A Heart of Gratitude ｜ FRIDAY FIELD NOTES

00:00:00.000 just grateful for even my struggles you know i know that it's difficult when you're in times of

00:00:05.040 challenging circumstances to realize or consider that maybe one day you'll be grateful for the

00:00:10.880 struggles that you had in your relationship the financial struggles or the health struggles or

00:00:15.360 whatever it might be you choose to look at those struggles in a healthy productive way

00:00:22.000 then you can take those challenges that you've had and use them as fuel to improve your life

00:00:30.400 you're a man of action you live life to the fullest embrace your fears and boldly chart your

00:00:35.360 own path when life knocks you down you get back up one more time every time you are not easily

00:00:41.360 deterred or defeated rugged resilient strong this is your life this is who you are this is who you

00:00:48.880 will become at the end of the day and after all is said and done you can call yourself a man

00:00:54.880 men welcome to the order of man podcast this one is going to be very very short brief and succinct

00:01:02.960 i have no asks for you i have no requests i have nothing to sell you i have no

00:01:07.840 black friday deals to promote any of that stuff all that i want to do right now is tell you that i'm

00:01:14.400 grateful we're on the back of thanksgiving here in the united states and i have a lot to be thankful

00:01:20.480 for specifically with this movement and the way that you guys have been supporting me and our mission

00:01:27.440 to reclaim and restore masculinity over the past 10 years is something that i could not have dreamed

00:01:32.960 of when we started this movement in 2015 next year march 15 2025 will be our 10-year anniversary and

00:01:42.080 we could not have got to this point without you i've had highs and lows and ups and downs but

00:01:48.080 what this movement has always been about is not making ourselves perfect but striving to be better

00:01:54.000 than we were yesterday and at some points over the past decade i've done very very well professionally

00:02:01.360 personally and all the areas that we talk about and in other ways over the past several years in

00:02:07.520 particular i've really failed and faltered and i realized that in those moments i may have diminished

00:02:16.320 uh our growth and and our opportunities here in the iron council and and my level of uh trust

00:02:24.240 with you or credibility with you but i will say for those of you who are still here i hope that uh you

00:02:32.080 can see that this is not a mission to be flawless this is a mission to identify where we're weak

00:02:40.400 figure out our shortcomings and then work however hard we need to in order to shore those up so i'm

00:02:48.000 grateful for that i'm grateful for those of you who are still here and obviously we're still growing

00:02:51.680 and we're continuing this mission uh this mission is bigger than me at this point i'm not sure i could

00:02:56.400 stop it even if i wanted to which i don't but i also want to say on a personal level that i am very

00:03:02.000 grateful today uh for a lot of things in my life specifically my children i've got four incredible

00:03:08.320 children ranging from 16 to uh eight years old and they're all different personalities and they

00:03:14.480 all have their strengths and weaknesses and i have my connections with all of them and disconnects with

00:03:20.320 all of them in some ways but i love each and every one of those kids like they are incredible incredible

00:03:27.600 kids and i feel blessed more often than i think they might that i'm their dad and then i get to learn

00:03:34.640 and grow and be better because of them i'm also grateful for uh an incredible woman in my life who

00:03:40.080 i've been dating for almost a year now believe it or not which is crazy to me uh and the support and

00:03:45.680 unwavering belief that she has in me and what we're doing and also the way that she's able to

00:03:50.880 challenge me in a healthy and productive way and of course her daughter as well which obviously you know

00:03:56.640 if if you are uh in relationship with a woman who has kids or uh you know a stepfather how

00:04:02.800 challenging at times that can be but her daughter is absolutely incredible and we've gotten uh to

00:04:08.240 know each other obviously over the past year and um had a really good relationship uh for the past

00:04:14.800 year actually frankly since the day that we met i'm grateful for her as well uh outside of that grateful

00:04:21.600 for this movement and the last thing i want to tell you is that i'm just grateful for even my struggles

00:04:25.840 you know i know that it's difficult when you're in times of challenging circumstances to realize or

00:04:31.120 consider that maybe one day you'll be grateful for the struggles that you had in your relationship

00:04:37.200 or you'll be grateful for the financial struggles or the health struggles or whatever it might be

00:04:43.840 and what i would suggest to you is that if you choose and it is a choice you choose to look at

00:04:49.760 those struggles in a healthy productive way then you can take those challenges that you've had

00:04:57.680 and use them as fuel to improve your life and i've certainly had many many instances through my divorce

00:05:07.040 through deployment through failed businesses and financial hardship and medical struggles

00:05:15.360 that in the moment was hard for me to see but looking back in the grand scheme of things those were pivotal

00:05:21.200 instrumental parts of my life those were moments where i became better because i made the decision to do so

00:05:30.480 and i think that's one of the things that gratitude does most for people is it allows them to see

00:05:36.880 their circumstances in a light that maybe they didn't see it before i don't know where you are in

00:05:43.040 your life i don't know what you're struggling with i'd be willing to bet that you are struggling with

00:05:47.120 something as all of us are but i would suggest to you that you get to decide how you frame it and the

00:05:55.360 story you tell yourself and create behind the struggle that you're dealing with if you decide

00:06:01.120 that this is one of victimhood and you'll never get over this and everybody and everything is stacked

00:06:07.920 against you then that's exactly how that will play out if on the other hand you decide consciously that

00:06:13.600 you're going to have some gratitude for the eternal perspective that you're going to be grateful for

00:06:18.480 the opportunity to learn and grow and be better then that's exactly what will happen so again on the

00:06:25.760 back of our thanksgiving holiday here in the united states i want to say that i am very very grateful for

00:06:30.800 you i'm grateful for my kids i'm grateful for the woman in my life and i am grateful that i have the

00:06:38.800 opportunity to live still in the greatest country and time that has ever ever existed a lot of us

00:06:48.160 think that we have it hard 100 years ago 200 years ago 500 a thousand years ago was significantly harder

00:06:55.920 than we have it today and my hope as we think about not only what we're grateful for but the opportunities

00:07:02.960 that we have is that we'll use the beautiful blessings that we have from god to band together

00:07:10.720 to work together even in disagreement to have a common and shared goal and objective to improve

00:07:17.600 our our own lives and also improve the lives of our legacy our posterity our children

00:07:26.320 and then we'll work together in order to do that not always easy obviously there's a lot of

00:07:31.600 animosity and contention and vitriol in today's society but i would suggest that if we can find

00:07:36.000 common ground and have mature rational intelligent discussions with each other even in disagreement

00:07:41.440 i think we'll find that we're actually pretty close to alignment in our values even though the way we

00:07:47.200 think we might get there may vary so again as i leave and sign off for the day and the weekend

00:07:55.200 because i don't want to detract from your weekend i've got weekend plans as well so i'm going to be

00:07:59.680 taking advantage of that i just want to say thank you very grateful got some big plans i've invested

00:08:06.480 in this fourth quarter of 2024 a lot of financial capital into the growth of what we're going to be

00:08:13.840 doing with order man in 2025 and i cannot wait to share more of that with you i cannot wait for you to be

00:08:19.840 part of that i cannot wait for the growth that i will see in you when i get emails and direct messages

00:08:26.480 from you guys saying that you rekindled your marriage or you connect with an estranged child or

00:08:32.320 you've lost 50 pounds or you started that business or your boss offered you a promotion or you paid off

00:08:38.560 the consumer debt i can't help but be excited optimistic and proud of what we not me what we

00:08:48.560 at order of man have created and you are a big part of that in fact you are the ultimate part of that

00:08:55.600 otherwise i'd just be talking to myself and i'm certainly willing to do that because i like the

00:08:59.360 sound of my own voice but if it falls on deaf ears it doesn't really matter so thank you again have a

00:09:05.600 great weekend enjoy your family enjoy your friends enjoy your blessings and even in struggle realize that

00:09:11.200 you have it pretty good and that's not to dismiss what you might be going through but if you change

00:09:16.320 your perspective i think more opportunities will be presented to you as we roll into 2025 all right
