00:00:22.400 Welcome to your Friday Field Notes.
00:00:25.040 Men, what's going on today? My name is Ryan Michler, and I am the host and founder of Order of Man.

00:00:40.860 or me just rambling for a couple of minutes about some of my thoughts throughout the week.
00:00:44.380 But, make sure you subscribe to our show at orderofman.com slash iTunes
00:00:48.580 so you don't miss a Friday Field Notes or our full interview show that's released each Tuesday.
00:00:53.760 We've got some killer guests lined up each and every week
00:00:55.920 with the goal of helping you to become a better man in the areas of relationships
00:00:59.820 and your health and your wealth and your business and so much more.
00:01:03.640 So, let's just jump right into my thoughts this week, and that is the power of appreciation.
00:01:08.400 Everywhere I look, I see negativity.
00:01:10.540 I'm sure it's the same for you as well.
00:01:12.120 Whether that's Facebook or the news or magazines, everywhere is negativity.
00:01:16.960 And, I think it's probably human nature to look for the problems in this world.
00:01:20.240 Specifically, I think we as men are more guilty of it than females.
00:01:24.460 It's wired into us because we're the ones that are supposed to be solving the problems
00:01:28.000 and keeping everyone alive and thriving.
00:01:30.720 But, I've come to realize that when I'm negative about all that's going on in my life,
00:01:35.080 whether that's the presidential elections or random conversations or gossip between family and friends
00:01:40.600 or business or thinking about the way that things should be as opposed to the way things are,
00:01:45.500 I end up creating scarcity in my life.
00:01:48.840 My relationships are strained.
00:01:50.760 My wealth doesn't grow the way it should.
00:01:52.820 I'm not motivated to get my butt out of bed and go to the gym.
00:01:55.440 But, on the flip side of that, when I'm positive, I create more.
00:01:58.780 I create abundance in my life.
00:02:00.880 My relationships thrive.
00:02:02.000 My wealth grows as a direct reflection of the actions that I'm taking.
00:02:06.540 And, I'm more motivated not just to get to the gym, but other areas of my life as well.
00:02:11.220 And so, in the midst of all the negativity we're faced with on a daily basis,
00:02:14.000 it's really important, guys, that we take some time and we stop.
00:02:17.820 And, we reflect upon everything, the blessings, all that we have that is good in this life.
00:02:23.340 As I sit here and record this Friday Field Notes, I'm amazed at everything we have,
00:02:27.160 the opportunities and the blessings that we have.
00:02:29.040 I'm recording this on my computer.
00:02:30.960 It gives me access to millions of people across the planet.
00:02:34.720 I've got my water here that's filtered.
00:02:36.960 It's delivered through a tap in my climate-controlled house.
00:02:39.800 I'm looking at a few of my books that give me access to the greatest minds the world has ever known.
00:02:45.860 And, I'm sitting on this chair at a desk that someone built so I didn't have to do it.
00:02:50.280 And, it allows me to focus on the things that are important to me.
00:02:53.360 My feet are resting on this comfortable carpet that the world's richest kings and monarchs did not have even 100 years ago.
00:03:01.800 I look outside, I see my kids playing with each other in peace and safety without a care in the world about war or a crime or anything like that.
00:03:09.640 I've got clothes on my back.
00:03:10.860 I've got this American flag which represents the sacrifice of so many men and women for the freedom and liberty that you and I enjoy today.
00:03:18.700 I've got my backpacking gear here as I prepare to go on a hiking adventure with some of my close friends who want me to succeed.
00:03:24.500 I can go on and on all day about how many amazing things that we have access to, but for the sake of time, I won't.
00:03:31.960 But, I encourage you to, to think about all the good things in your life.
00:03:36.740 Now, with that said, you and I both know that the world is not filled with rainbows and friendly people on every street corner singing kumbaya while holding hands in eternal bliss, right?
00:03:48.640 And, I'm not suggesting that we act delusional about the way things really are.
00:03:52.420 It is up to us as men, after all, to be extremely realistic about the threats and situations that we might find ourselves in on a daily basis.
00:04:00.440 But, what I am suggesting to you is that you take a couple of minutes each day and think about all that is good and all that you've been blessed with.
00:04:09.240 Now, the other side of this I hear all the time is that we should never be satisfied with our current station.
00:04:13.860 We should always be improving.
00:04:15.060 And, to that I wholeheartedly agree, but just because you're showing appreciation for what you currently have doesn't mean you aren't doing all that you can to get more deep relationships, more wealth, better health, a better life.
00:04:29.060 In fact, I think that the more appreciation you show for what you currently have, the more you open up your mind and your body to receive more of that stuff in your life.
00:04:37.760 If you don't appreciate what you currently have, how will you ever appreciate having more?
00:04:42.920 So, my marching orders for you today are to take a couple of minutes each and every day and express appreciation for the things that you have.
00:04:51.020 That could be personal reflection.
00:04:53.400 It could mean that you document your blessings like I do.
00:04:55.700 This is the way I personally do it in a journal.
00:04:57.680 It could mean that you actually let somebody know how much you appreciate them, which is, I know, difficult for a lot of men.
00:05:04.740 And on that note, I want to tell you guys that I appreciate you.
00:05:08.240 I would have never imagined Order of Man growing to the point that it has in just a little over a year now.
00:05:14.200 And it would not be what it is today without you and the rest of the men who I get to connect with on a daily basis.
00:05:21.840 So, I want to tell you thank you.
00:05:23.620 And as I sign off today, I just want to give you a quick reminder to consider joining our elite mastermind, The Iron Council.
00:05:29.880 We're roughly 100 strong right now.
