00:00:00.000 You're a man of action. You live life to the fullest. Embrace your fears and boldly chart your own path.
00:00:06.020 When life knocks you down, you get back up one more time. Every time.
00:00:10.480 You are not easily deterred or defeated. Rugged. Resilient. Strong.
00:00:15.500 This is your life. This is who you are. This is who you will become.
00:00:19.760 At the end of the day, and after all is said and done, you can call yourself a man.
00:00:24.720 Gentlemen, what is going on today? My name is Ryan Michler, and I am the host and the founder of this podcast and the movement that is Order of Man.
00:00:32.640 I want to welcome you. If you don't know what we're all about here, this is a show about becoming a more capable father, husband, business owner, community leader, a man in general.
00:00:42.440 And to that end, we've got some powerful, powerful conversations with some of the most successful men on the planet.
00:00:48.040 We've got this, your Friday field notes, and then, of course, we've got our Wednesday show, which is an Ask Me Anything show.
00:00:53.640 So needless to say, we've got a lot of information to put out into the world and a lot of information available.
00:00:59.260 I do ask one thing, guys. If you find any value from what we're doing here, the conversations or us answering the questions or these Friday field notes, I would ask that you leave a rating and review.
00:01:11.480 I'm currently working on increasing the visibility and what we're doing here with the Order of Man movement.
00:01:17.180 And those ratings and reviews go such a long way in bumping up the show and then letting other men who need to hear this message see what this podcast and the movement is all about.
00:01:27.740 So I'd appreciate that. I want to get into this one fairly quickly today. Not a whole lot of announcements.
00:01:33.420 We do have a few more spots left for our main event, which is coming up August 10th and 11th here in Maine.
00:01:42.600 I'm finishing up the barn. I've been putting in a lot of work about, gosh, 10 to 12 hour days over the past three or four days getting the barn ready and cleaned up for the 75 men who are going to be attending again August 10th and 11th.
00:01:56.580 My goal is for everybody in attendance to walk away with a very, very specific 12 week battle plan that will help them accomplish more in the next 90 days than potentially they have all year.
00:02:11.620 So it's the camaraderie, it's the accountability, it's the brotherhood, and then it's the clarity with a, with a 12 week battle plan.
00:02:17.780 So if you are interested, head to order of man.com slash main event and main is in the state main.
00:02:24.040 So order of man.com slash main event, only a few spots left. And I hope to see you there.
00:02:29.800 So today I want to talk with you about vision. And speaking of my barn, this is the reason I actually wanted to talk with you about it today, because as I was plugging away and tearing down walls and using the sledgehammer to, to bang things up and beat things up in there.
00:02:44.360 Just the other day, I kind of caught myself wondering why, why am I doing this? Why am I going through all this work? Why am I going through all this effort?
00:02:54.020 And for a minute, I almost told myself it wasn't worth it, but what kept me going when I didn't want to do it anymore after being physically and mentally exhausted is the vision that I had for what I'm going to create out of this place.
00:03:09.400 I vividly, vividly see a place where men come together and they band together and they push each other and challenge each other physically, mentally, and emotionally.
00:03:20.420 I see a place where men come, where they get the tools and the clarity that they need to go out into their own lives, into their families and their businesses and their communities and be the type of men they know they're capable of becoming.
00:03:32.900 And also the type of men that the people in their lives are relying upon them to be.
00:03:38.360 I see a place where fathers and sons come together for our legacy event and they're having powerful conversations and they're engaged in activities that are going to push them further than they've ever gone before.
00:03:50.200 I see this incredible, incredible space in my mind so clearly, and that vision is what allows me to continue on, whether it's tearing apart a barn or doing this podcast when I don't want to, or continuing to coach my kids when coaching is exhausting.
00:04:10.640 If any of you have been a coach, you understand exactly what I'm talking about.
00:04:13.980 It's what allows me to carry on.
00:04:15.620 It's the vision and that's what I want to talk with you about today because without any vision, nothing, nothing happens.
00:04:23.260 Everything is dead.
00:04:24.180 There is nothing else that is, is going to take place without vision.
00:04:29.480 And I think vision is, I won't say synonymous with, but I do think vision and hope are very clearly aligned.
00:04:38.980 I think they're very, very close.
00:04:40.860 And my thought is, is that if you don't have some sort of vision for the type of man you want to be and the things that you want to do and the things that you want to accomplish, then there is no hope for the future.
00:04:52.180 And I feel like without that level of hope, some level of hope, even if it's just a glimmer of hope, you really won't do anything in your life and you'll resign yourself to this state of mediocrity and complacency and underperformance.
00:05:07.660 And then of course the bitterness and the contention and animosity and resentment and misery, frankly, that comes with no hope, no vision for the future, no, no idea of something that you want better for yourself.
00:05:21.420 So when we do our 12 week battle planning, and I've talked with you guys at length about that, I feel like a little bit, I'm beating a dead horse, but it is so critical that you have this planning in place.
00:05:31.020 We talk a lot about the objectives and we talk a lot about tactics, which is how we're going to get there.
00:05:35.840 We talk about our progress and the accountability and all that stuff is very, very important.
00:05:40.260 But what most men overlook is the first step, the very first step in the battle plan, in the planning in general.
00:05:47.640 And that first step is vision.
00:05:51.360 It's not necessarily what specifically you want to accomplish.
00:05:55.900 It's the broad 30,000 foot view of what type of man you're going to be.
00:06:02.380 And then how do your specific objectives then help you become that type of man?
00:06:09.320 What do you see?
00:06:10.600 What do you want to experience?
00:06:11.820 How do you feel when you project yourself out into the future?
00:06:14.660 How are you showing up?
00:06:15.700 One exercise that I've recommended and a lot of people have recommended in the past is writing your own obituary.
00:06:22.120 How do people remember you when they're talking about you and you're leaving a legacy?
00:06:26.240 What are they saying about you?
00:06:27.540 What do you want them to say about you?
00:06:29.300 And then are your actions in line with them saying those things and feeling those things and having those experiences about you?
00:06:38.440 This is the vision I'm talking about.
00:06:40.260 And when you have a very clear, emotionally charged vision, something that you're deeply connected with, something that you can feel that it's almost tangible, that it's almost real.
00:06:52.120 When you have that, you'll be able to charge through anything that inevitably presents itself.
00:07:00.060 Because on your path to improve your life as a man, not everything's going to be perfect.
00:07:04.120 Not everything's going to play out exactly the way that you think it will or that you hope it will.
00:07:10.800 Challenges are going to come up.
00:07:12.180 Obstacles are going to present themselves.
00:07:13.720 Roadblocks are going to be present.
00:07:16.140 And without some sort of vision driving you, pushing you, pulling you through those times, you're going to fall into the trap that millions and millions of men have fallen into, which is stop.
00:07:31.100 Which is get derailed from your overall plan and objective and then fall short of the mark that you had for yourself.
00:07:38.040 And then, of course, we fall into this pattern of resentment and mediocrity and some of those things that I was saying earlier.
00:07:46.840 So you've got to have a vision.
00:07:48.360 You've got to have something pulling you.
00:07:49.600 You've got to have something driving you and motivating you and inspiring you to do more.
00:07:53.240 Now, I don't want this to be woo-woo.
00:07:54.820 This is not something where you just think about it and it manifests itself.
00:07:58.100 But what I will say is that when you have the type of vision I'm talking about, and I'm going to outline four to five steps here for you to create your own vision for yourself, is that things do start happening.
00:08:09.620 Not without your work.
00:08:11.260 The universe isn't just going to present it to you because you really, really want it really, really bad.
00:08:15.380 You have to actually work towards it.
00:08:17.280 So please, when I talk about vision, don't misunderstand me.
00:08:19.940 This is not the entire process.
00:08:21.460 This is one step of the entire process.
00:08:24.360 But it's pivotal.
00:08:25.120 It's critical that you complete this step and do it correctly so that when we get to the other steps, and we're going to talk about this in future podcasts, that you'll know exactly what to do, that you'll be able to drive on in the face of the things that come up.
00:08:40.080 So I want to ask you and challenge you as you're listening to this, whether it's on your run or driving to work or doing some chores around the house, do you have a vision for yourself?
00:08:50.260 Have you projected yourself out into the future?
00:08:52.540 And what does that man look like?
00:08:54.060 How is he showing up?
00:08:55.560 How is he dressed?
00:08:56.440 How is he involved with his kids and with his wife and his community?
00:08:59.840 What activities is he engaged in?
00:09:01.540 Is he mastering some hobby or some skill set?
00:09:04.860 Is he furthering his career?
00:09:07.520 Is he in a new career?
00:09:09.180 What's he doing for workouts?
00:09:10.840 And how is he able to show up physically and mentally and emotionally and spiritually for the people in his life?
00:09:17.320 And guys, let me tell you, you as a man showing up physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally, spiritually, financially, it's critical that we as men learn how to do this.
00:09:30.640 The role that we play in society as men cannot be overstated.
00:09:36.740 And the reason this work is so important to me is because generally I see a softening, a weakening, and a feminization of men and society.
00:09:48.100 And I think we're selling ourselves short as a society when we aren't embracing fully what it means to be a man.
00:09:55.240 So how do we turn the tide?
00:09:57.340 We work on ourselves individually.
00:09:59.940 Individually first, then collectively within the order of men.
00:10:02.760 And as we do this, then we branch and we expand and we grow and we enlist other men in this battle to reclaim and restore masculinity.
00:10:11.000 But it starts with one man.
00:10:12.800 Starts with one man.
00:10:13.780 It starts with you.
00:10:15.440 And then you impact your sons.
00:10:17.560 You impact brothers or fathers.
00:10:19.880 You impact your neighbor or the kids you're coaching or mentees that you happen to be helping.
00:10:26.020 It starts with you and it branches out from there.
00:10:28.780 So on the subject of starting with you, let's talk about what this actually means.
00:10:33.800 Vision, guys.
00:10:35.440 It's hope.
00:10:36.400 It keeps you charging.
00:10:37.720 And then eventually it will manifest itself into objectives and things that you're accomplishing that will move the needle in the way that you want to move the needle.
00:10:46.460 So what I want to do is I want to break this down into five steps.
00:10:48.960 And I like these frameworks.
00:10:50.780 I do these a lot on the Friday field notes because I want to give you the tools and the frameworks that you need to be able to succeed.
00:10:56.780 And if I'm just talking about this 30,000 foot woo-woo, just have a vision and think really hard about what you want and you'll be in your own special place, then I don't think that's going to help.
00:11:06.120 I want to make it tangible.
00:11:07.400 I want to make it actionable for you.
00:11:09.000 And as I share this, I would ask that again, you share the podcast with somebody new who needs to hear it.
00:11:14.000 And then you connect with me on Instagram or Twitter, Facebook, specifically Instagram is best because that's where I spend most of my time at Ryan Mickler.
00:11:23.560 And share with me through pictures and through stories, what you're doing in your life with regards to your vision and objectives and the overall 12 week battle plan.
00:11:32.380 So let's break this down and get into this.
00:11:33.980 The first one, and this is first guys, is that you need to create time daily to visualize what you want.
00:11:41.020 If you're doing it once a quarter or once a, once a week, it's just not enough.
00:11:48.440 Your visualization process has to be consistent and it has to be daily.
00:11:52.440 And you have to be doing it as often as possible because things do come up.
00:11:57.500 Challenges do get in the way.
00:11:59.000 You're going to be met with, with some adversity and some roadblocks.
00:12:03.260 And it's going to derail you unless you can get crystal clear on your vision and do it daily to recalibrate yourself back to what you want.
00:12:11.840 It's not enough to think about what you want on a quarterly basis or a weekly basis.
00:12:15.760 You have to do it every single day.
00:12:17.740 So part of my morning process guys is I will actually sit down in a quiet place, specifically my office.
00:12:24.360 And I will think for five to 10, 15, 20 minutes max, because I've got other things to do about what I want to accomplish.
00:12:31.740 Not only throughout that day, but what I want to accomplish generally as a man, what type of father do I want to be?
00:12:39.240 When I'm interacting with my kids, what are the kind of conversations that we're having?
00:12:42.940 What are the feelings that are being experienced?
00:12:45.560 When I'm, when I'm sitting with my wife and eating dinner with her and being intimate with her, what does that look like?
00:12:50.940 What does that feel like?
00:12:51.860 How does that manifest itself?
00:12:54.020 That's the first step.
00:12:56.040 When I'm doing this podcast, what is it that I want to share with you?
00:12:59.760 And how do I feel about it and how, how are other men being impacted by it?
00:13:03.760 When I'm going throughout my work and something comes up, how am I going to get through that?
00:13:08.140 These are the types of questions I'm asking myself in my daily visualization process.
00:13:13.320 And I think about the ideal version of myself in a, in a, in a perfect world.
00:13:20.620 I shouldn't say a perfect world, but in a perfect scenario, how will I show up when things are good?
00:13:26.320 When things are bad, what will I do?
00:13:28.780 How will I improve myself?
00:13:30.140 How will I face hardship?
00:13:31.940 These are all things that you can visualize on a daily basis.
00:13:34.960 So it's got to be done daily.
00:13:36.320 That's step number one.
00:13:37.680 So I want to challenge you to think about, again, as you're listening to this,
00:13:41.660 while you're running or working out or exercising or driving or whatever it is you're doing is to
00:13:45.500 think about where in your day you can do this on a daily basis.
00:13:48.620 I would recommend doing it in the morning because it's such a critical component of your life.
00:13:53.120 Why would you wait till the end of the day?
00:13:55.600 You're going to be much more successful, profitable, uh, engaged when you do your
00:14:01.880 visualization in the morning.
00:14:03.200 So if you need to wake up 15 minutes earlier than you normally do, great.
00:14:06.180 Do that.
00:14:06.640 This is a process of experimentation, by the way, guys, try it first thing in the morning.
00:14:10.920 When you wake up, try it after you, you exercise and work out, try it after breakfast with your
00:14:15.140 family, wherever you need to try it, experiment with it and figure out what's going to work best for
00:14:19.860 you.
00:14:19.980 But the first thing is taking time to do this daily.
00:14:23.660 Number two, I want you to think about examples in your life, in your immediate circle, and then
00:14:29.300 also outside of your circle and look at other men that you are inspired by, whether that's me,
00:14:34.580 which I know sounds a little maybe narcissistic or, well, it's weird actually coming from,
00:14:39.660 from my perspective.
00:14:40.320 But if that's what it is, great.
00:14:42.180 If it's Jocko or David Goggins or Cam Haynes or Andy Frisella or any of these guys that
00:14:49.300 you listen to, that you're inspired by, then great.
00:14:52.360 I think you ought to probably tap into what these guys are doing.
00:14:56.040 And I want you to model their behavior.
00:14:58.260 It's not enough to be inspired by these individuals.
00:15:00.560 You probably ought to start thinking about why you're inspired by these individuals.
00:15:04.560 What is it about the way that Andy shows up in his life?
00:15:07.220 Or what is it about the way that Jocko shows up in his life that inspires you?
00:15:11.340 That's the first step.
00:15:12.720 And can you model that behavior?
00:15:15.400 I want to be very cautious here though.
00:15:16.820 I'm not telling you to, to compare yourself to what somebody else is doing.
00:15:21.360 I'm not saying to do it exactly like somebody else does.
00:15:24.380 I'm just saying that there are frameworks out there that other men are using,
00:15:28.820 that other men are utilizing in their lives that you can use.
00:15:33.060 And you can look at those people as a source of motivation and inspiration.
00:15:37.120 And I know motivation gets a bad rap and everybody says motivation's overrated and
00:15:41.580 discipline's the way to go.
00:15:42.680 You need both.
00:15:44.060 You need both.
00:15:44.720 You need to be motivated.
00:15:45.680 If you're not motivated, I mean, discipline's only going to take you so far as well.
00:15:49.940 So it's not a, it's not a one size fits all.
00:15:52.240 It's not just a one tool to be able to build your, your vision for yourself or your life
00:15:56.380 for yourself.
00:15:56.840 You've got to have it all.
00:15:58.660 So it's okay to be motivated.
00:16:00.180 It's okay to be inspired.
00:16:01.300 It's okay to follow people on Instagram.
00:16:03.680 It's okay to watch YouTube videos or even to listen to this podcast.
00:16:06.720 Now, eventually you have to put it into action and we will, and I'll talk more about how to
00:16:11.160 do that.
00:16:11.580 But right now we're talking about vision.
00:16:13.720 There's men.
00:16:14.480 I already alluded to some of those individuals who I'm inspired by and I'm motivated by,
00:16:18.720 and I see the level of discipline they have.
00:16:20.980 And I see what they're doing as far as their workout regiments.
00:16:23.580 And I see how they're showing up for their families.
00:16:25.920 And fortunately I'm in a position where I get to have conversations with these individuals
00:16:30.480 so I can delve deeper into what they're doing specifically.
00:16:33.880 But I envisioned these men as, as the type of man that I want to be and the way that I
00:16:39.980 want to show up in my life.
00:16:41.060 And so I, I model those examples.
00:16:43.920 I don't just stare and think about how great they are.
00:16:47.980 I, I ponder what they're doing and how they're doing it and how they're showing up.
00:16:53.140 I'm in a position where I get to ask them questions one-on-one.
00:16:56.700 You may not be able to do that one-on-one, but you can certainly engage with them on social
00:17:00.260 media and ask what they're doing.
00:17:01.440 And a lot of these guys, I know from experience will respond back to you and give you some insight.
00:17:05.700 You can listen to this podcast.
00:17:07.780 We've interviewed over 200 highly, highly successful men, and you can go back and you
00:17:13.360 can listen to what these guys are doing.
00:17:15.460 I'm giving you the conversations and the tools that you need to excel in your life.
00:17:20.540 We need to use these things better.
00:17:22.780 This is mentorship.
00:17:23.720 I can't tell you how often I hear from guys who say, well, real men don't, don't need other
00:17:27.640 men to tell them how to be men, which is such a stupid thought because that's exactly
00:17:32.860 what men need.
00:17:33.620 That's what women need with other women too, by the way, this isn't unique to men only,
00:17:39.320 but we need other members of the same sex teaching us, showing us their ways so that
00:17:46.080 we can improve and get better.
00:17:48.080 And any man who says that he doesn't need another man to show him how to be a man has
00:17:53.600 an ego problem and probably a performance problem because he's not performing as well as he could
00:17:59.120 be had he listened to sound advice and strategy from other men who have things figured out.
00:18:05.700 And our access to these types of examples is unlike it's ever been before.
00:18:10.900 So model those examples.
00:18:13.100 That's step number two.
00:18:14.440 Step number three is exposing yourself to new information.
00:18:17.920 You're in this box, this rigid little box that you've created for yourself and all of your
00:18:22.020 experiences and all of your circumstances and everything that you've learned is what's
00:18:27.800 created the walls of your box.
00:18:30.220 And some boxes are bigger than others and some are different and some are structured and some
00:18:36.060 are free and loose.
00:18:37.840 But at the end of the day, it's, it's you that's created this box, whatever that looks
00:18:43.140 like, however, that's manifest itself to you.
00:18:46.720 So what you need to do in order to change your circumstance and change your environment
00:18:52.620 is to expose yourself to new material.
00:18:56.560 I was at a conference and I, I can't for the life of me think about who was talking, but
00:19:00.460 he said, when you're building something in your life, whether it's your family dynamic
00:19:07.020 or your career or your, your physical fitness, you can only produce what you put in.
00:19:13.820 That's what your brain does.
00:19:14.880 Your brain will produce based on what inputs based on what it consumes.
00:19:21.040 So if you're consuming filth and nonsense and garbage, then inevitably that's all you're
00:19:27.160 going to be able to produce.
00:19:29.080 But if you're consuming hope and optimism and information and value, then you're naturally
00:19:35.940 going to start producing that stuff.
00:19:38.300 So what podcast are you listening to?
00:19:40.400 Is it serving you or hindering you?
00:19:42.300 What books are you reading?
00:19:43.940 Again, you can go back and listen to my guests and see what they're reading or read their books
00:19:48.700 that they've written.
00:19:50.320 Who are you talking with?
00:19:51.760 Who are your mentors?
00:19:52.760 Who are your coaches?
00:19:53.600 Who are your guides?
00:19:55.160 Are these people serving you or are they pulling you back?
00:19:59.640 What men in your inner circle are improving your life or are they detracting from it and taking
00:20:05.460 it away, taking away from your life?
00:20:07.600 I should say, think about who's in your inner circle.
00:20:10.400 Think about the information that you're consuming on a daily basis, minute by minute.
00:20:15.080 Is this information helping me?
00:20:16.660 No, it's not good.
00:20:17.620 Eliminate it.
00:20:18.140 Yes, it is.
00:20:18.800 Cool.
00:20:19.220 Do more of that.
00:20:20.540 But ultimately what you expose yourself to is going to determine in large part your vision
00:20:26.800 and then ultimately what you're able to produce as a result of that vision.
00:20:31.040 So share with me what type of information you're exposed to and what's been working for you
00:20:36.140 and what's been helping you.
00:20:38.940 Number four, I call this conscious projection.
00:20:42.720 And I alluded to it earlier in the intro as I was talking with you about how powerful vision
00:20:46.680 is.
00:20:47.000 But conscious projection is the notion that we as human beings first have consciousness
00:20:53.480 and second, we're able to tap into it on demand.
00:20:57.320 And when I'm talking about projection, I'm talking about projecting yourself to a later
00:21:02.240 date, whether it's a year from now or five or 10 or 30 years from now, we have the ability
00:21:06.380 to project ourselves to a future date and time and then look backwards and give ourselves
00:21:11.040 advice.
00:21:12.280 Sounds a little strange, but this is consciousness.
00:21:15.120 This is part of what makes us uniquely human is the ability to do this.
00:21:18.980 We don't rely on instinct alone.
00:21:21.160 We have instincts, but ultimately we have consciousness as well, which allows us to have and tap into this
00:21:26.980 very powerful tool called projection.
00:21:29.600 So I would recommend that you project yourself out into the future, look back to your current
00:21:34.280 self and give yourself advice based on how you want to show up and who you want to be and how you
00:21:39.680 want to be in life.
00:21:43.540 It's called conscious projection and it's a very, very powerful tool.
00:21:46.880 I have a lot of guys who ask questions like, well, one I get a lot is I'm considering a career
00:21:53.460 change and I can take this job and I can make more money, but then I'd be away from my family
00:21:59.820 more.
00:22:00.320 What should I do?
00:22:01.580 And it's not my place to tell any other man what he, what he needs to do.
00:22:06.240 I think ultimately each of us need to make our own decisions.
00:22:08.740 Now I can give advice and share what I would do, but ultimately you have to make your own
00:22:12.200 choices.
00:22:12.540 But one thing I do tell these guys a lot is I say, fast forward 20 years, fast forward
00:22:18.420 20 years, looking back, what decision will you be happy that you made?
00:22:23.740 Now, most of the time, these guys are going to say, well, I'd spend more time with my family,
00:22:27.620 which I believe is the right answer.
00:22:29.320 I'm not going to make that decision for somebody else.
00:22:31.560 That would be the right decision for me, but it becomes very clear.
00:22:35.080 That's the point I'm making.
00:22:35.940 It becomes very, very clear when somebody projects themselves out in the future and thinks about
00:22:41.060 what possibilities could be, and then goes back to their future self and says, okay,
00:22:45.560 this is the decision that you need to make.
00:22:47.580 So what I'd like you to do is project yourself out one, five, 10, 20 years and look back.
00:22:53.900 What kind of decisions do you need to make between now and then that will help you be
00:22:58.260 the kind of man that you projected yourself into?
00:23:00.760 How do you want to show up?
00:23:01.860 How are your kids going to talk about you?
00:23:03.200 How is your wife going to talk about you?
00:23:04.740 What does your career like look like?
00:23:06.200 What does your body look like?
00:23:07.620 What kind of energy levels do you have?
00:23:09.300 What problems are you solving in society?
00:23:11.800 What is the ideal version of yourself?
00:23:14.620 Now work backwards, reverse engineer the process.
00:23:17.680 Okay, here's what I want to be.
00:23:19.080 I can see it crystal clear in my mind.
00:23:21.320 Here's how I want to show up for my grandkids.
00:23:23.260 Here's how I want to show up for my wife.
00:23:24.500 Here's how I want to show up for my kids.
00:23:25.740 Here's how I want to show up for my community.
00:23:27.140 Here's the things I'm involved in.
00:23:28.520 Here's what my career looks like.
00:23:29.700 Here's what my bank account looks like.
00:23:31.320 Here's my body fat percentage.
00:23:32.660 Here's what I can do regarding strength.
00:23:34.300 All of it, cover all of it.
00:23:36.660 Well, and then you start working backwards into steps.
00:23:39.620 Well, in order to be that kind of individual, I have to do this, this, this, this, this,
00:23:44.400 and this.
00:23:44.740 So that's called conscious projection, projecting yourself out to the future date,
00:23:49.380 working your way back and telling yourself what you need to do today in order to be that
00:23:55.280 kind of man down the road.
00:23:56.260 And the last one I want to share with you guys today is documentation.
00:24:00.880 Guys, you've got to document this stuff.
00:24:02.820 All right.
00:24:02.980 It's not enough to think about it and, and ponder it and wonder how it's going to work
00:24:06.600 for you.
00:24:07.100 All that stuff's good.
00:24:08.040 You need to do that stuff.
00:24:09.020 But I would say that you've got to document it because now what you're doing is you're,
00:24:12.780 you're bridging the gap between the non-tangible and, and reality, right?
00:24:18.700 You've got this vision in your mind for who you want to be.
00:24:20.920 And then on this other side of the spectrum, you've got reality.
00:24:24.540 How do you bridge the gap?
00:24:26.120 Well, the first step is you start writing down your vision documents and studies have
00:24:31.280 shown that those who write down their objectives tend and are more likely to achieve them.
00:24:38.140 Well, the same is true for your vision.
00:24:39.700 I want to be this kind of man.
00:24:41.220 I want to show up this way.
00:24:42.680 When people think about me, here's what, here's what I would like them to think about who I
00:24:47.760 am and how I'm showing up.
00:24:48.940 Here's the relationship with my, my kids.
00:24:51.260 Here's the relationship with my wife.
00:24:52.820 Here's how much energy I have.
00:24:54.240 All of those things I talked with you earlier, be writing these things down.
00:24:58.380 This is how you bridge the gap between your vision for yourself and then starting to make
00:25:03.560 it a reality.
00:25:04.340 And of course, that is the objectives and the tactics and the things that you're doing on
00:25:08.020 a daily basis.
00:25:08.560 And we'll certainly talk about that in future podcasts.
00:25:11.120 But right now, this is the first step.
00:25:13.640 This is the first step.
00:25:15.040 And part five of that is to document this stuff.
00:25:18.020 And it's not a one and done type thing.
00:25:20.360 Document it today.
00:25:21.400 Start writing tomorrow, writing the next day, writing the next day, and it will continue
00:25:25.700 to evolve as you continue to evolve.
00:25:28.140 You may not even know what's fully possible for yourself because you aren't to that level
00:25:32.760 yet.
00:25:33.480 This is why I hesitate to use the term full potential.
00:25:37.900 I want to reach my full potential.
00:25:39.360 I have no idea what my full potential is because when I improve today, my quote unquote full potential
00:25:45.540 moves, it's a moving target.
00:25:48.220 When I reach an objective and I accomplish it, that isn't the end.
00:25:52.440 It just means the objective moved.
00:25:54.120 It expanded.
00:25:54.980 It became more prolific.
00:25:56.980 And I'll need to do something even bigger and better and grander moving forward in order
00:26:01.080 to accomplish my new quote unquote full potential.
00:26:04.760 So you may not fully realize what type of man that you can actually become.
00:26:10.520 Write down what you have, start working towards what you have.
00:26:14.200 And then I think over the course of you going through this battle plan process and improving
00:26:19.060 your life, you're going to see fairly quickly that what you thought today is limited based
00:26:25.760 on what you've accomplished already compared to what it could be in a week or a month or
00:26:30.700 a year or five or 10 years.
00:26:32.480 But if you have no documentation of this, you're missing a critical component.
00:26:37.540 And that's the transition between vision to action, vision to implementation.
00:26:42.760 So that's my message for you guys, vision.
00:26:46.180 And without vision, nothing else really matters.
00:26:50.000 Nothing else happens.
00:26:51.300 You've got to have the vision in place.
00:26:53.120 We're going to get into the objectives.
00:26:54.380 We're going to get into the tactics.
00:26:55.540 We're going to get into all that stuff, but you've got to start with vision.
00:26:58.620 So let me recap these five steps and then I'm going to turn you loose and let you go
00:27:03.280 accomplish them.
00:27:04.200 Number one is do this daily.
00:27:06.640 Five, 10, 15, 20 minutes is all you need.
00:27:09.440 Figure out a time to get it into your day.
00:27:11.540 Number two, look for examples and start modeling their behavior.
00:27:14.580 Don't just say, I like that guy and how he shows up.
00:27:16.840 What do you like about that guy?
00:27:18.080 What about that guy inspires you?
00:27:19.520 What about his, his regimen or his activity or his discipline or his characteristics or the
00:27:23.900 virtues he espouses?
00:27:25.120 Do you want to be like use those as account, excuse me, use those as examples to improve
00:27:32.520 your life.
00:27:33.620 Number three, expose yourself to new information.
00:27:36.080 Remember information in information out.
00:27:38.080 So if it's filth in filth out, if it's high quality, productive, producing type stuff that
00:27:43.940 comes in, you're going to get the same thing coming out.
00:27:46.420 Number four is conscious projection, projecting yourself out into a future date, looking back to
00:27:52.480 your current self and giving yourself advice based on who you want to be.
00:27:56.380 And then the fifth one is documenting this stuff.
00:27:58.820 Very, uh, very simple process, not real complicated, not real complex.
00:28:03.380 It doesn't need to be complex.
00:28:04.940 You don't need a 200 point plan to do this vision.
00:28:08.560 I didn't tell you specifically how to write your own vision because you don't need me to
00:28:13.400 do that.
00:28:14.000 I want you to create it.
00:28:15.660 I don't need to get that specific with you because it's going to be different for everybody.
00:28:19.180 But I feel like if you use these five steps, including the documentation process, and you
00:28:23.040 do it consistently, again, it's not a one and done thing.
00:28:26.100 You do it consistently that you won't need me to tell you how to craft the perfect vision
00:28:30.720 for yourself.
00:28:31.380 And if I told you that anyways, how, how bought in would you be to that?
00:28:35.340 You wouldn't.
00:28:36.740 So I'm not going to tell you what mine looks like.
00:28:38.680 I'm not going to give you the formula for writing the perfect vision.
00:28:41.400 Cause there isn't one you develop it.
00:28:44.200 You figure out what's going to work for you.
00:28:46.000 But I think if you do it within this framework, you'll see a lot of success if you do it consistently
00:28:50.320 and you really abide by some of the things that I'm teaching you and sharing with you
00:28:54.100 here.
00:28:54.600 So that's it guys.
00:28:55.300 That's all I've got for you.
00:28:56.480 If you would again, connect with me on, on Instagram at Ryan Mickler, let me know what
00:29:02.580 you're, you're doing as far as your vision, share with me part of it.
00:29:05.840 Maybe you have a specific part of your vision.
00:29:07.560 You'd like to share a tag me at Ryan Mickler or tag protect, provide, preside or tag order
00:29:13.700 of man.
00:29:14.240 And I'll see all of those on Instagram.
00:29:17.020 Again, we've got our event coming up August 10th and 11th with a special exclusive iron
00:29:22.060 council dinner the night before, uh, if you're interested in coming out and what we're going
00:29:25.900 to do is we're actually going to go through and ensure up some of our vision, but we're
00:29:29.980 also going to go through specifically objectives, tactics, checkpoints, and really start to bring
00:29:35.800 this plan together outside of just visualizing for ourselves.
00:29:38.620 We're going to do a lot of that.
00:29:39.560 We're going to have some challenges and we're gonna have a good time and some good food and
00:29:43.020 some good activities.
00:29:43.820 Check it out.
00:29:44.700 Orderofman.com slash main event, main, the state main.
00:29:47.760 So M A I N E event, orderofman.com slash main event.
00:29:52.140 I hope to see you there guys.
00:29:53.520 As I, uh, as I close things out, as I always do, I just want to thank you for being on this
00:29:58.580 path and being on this journey.
00:29:59.740 I was talking with my ask me anything co-host and friend Kip Sorenson, uh, just the other
00:30:04.880 day.
00:30:05.080 And we're talking about how neither one of us would be the same men that we are today.
00:30:09.540 Had we not been inspired by what you're doing and how you're showing up as fathers and husbands
00:30:14.140 and business owners and community leaders.
00:30:15.940 And Lord knows, and you and I both know as well, how much masculinity is, is needed in
00:30:21.860 today's society.
00:30:22.680 Our, our contribution to society cannot be overstated.
00:30:26.120 Like I said earlier, and my job and my aim here is to restore and reclaim masculinity in
00:30:31.040 a society that seems to be drifting at an ever increasing rate, uh, from what it means
00:30:37.460 to be a man.
00:30:38.460 We're going to recapture that.
00:30:39.500 We're going to reclaim that.
00:30:40.540 And, uh, I couldn't be more honored to stand shoulder to shoulder with you in that battle.
00:30:43.860 All right, guys, until next week, uh, I've got a conversation with the one and only Matt
00:30:49.100 Best.
00:30:50.000 Uh, you're going to love that one.
00:30:51.180 So make sure you subscribe, make sure you tune into that show and connect with me.
