Pearl - This Feminist Claims Banning Tiktok Is An ATTACK On Women's RIGHTS ｜ Pearl Daily

00:00:00.000 So guys, for years, I did not think this day would come. I still I'm a bit skeptical because

00:00:06.640 I was one of the OGs on TikTok. I was in the early days, not when it was ByteDance or whatever

00:00:13.420 it's called. But, you know, I had a pretty big following on TikTok. And I remember in 2020 when

00:00:20.980 they also were saying they were going to ban TikTok. Now, we may have that day today. I,

00:00:28.620 for one, am devastated. But this also could be hilarious. So the fate of TikTok and it's 170

00:00:35.320 million users hangs in the balance as the Supreme Court decides whether a law banning the app is

00:00:42.340 constitutional or not. The law requires that China base owner of TikTok ByteDance to sell its U.S.

00:00:50.600 operations by January 19th. Lower courts have already upheld the law with the Supreme Court

00:00:58.040 being the say on the issue. To say that modern women are losing their minds is an understatement. 1.00

00:01:04.900 One of the hallmarks of modern women is being addicted to social media, with TikTok being the 1.00

00:01:10.420 main app that we waste our time on. These are influencers trying to say that TikTok being

00:01:15.600 banned is an attack on, you guessed it, women's rights. 1.00

00:01:20.700 Influencers aren't out of touch for crying about the TikTok ban. You're out of touch for not realizing

00:01:24.420 this is a real industry. Influencers aren't out of touch for crying about the TikTok ban.

00:01:32.280 You're out of touch for not realizing this is a real industry. You're out of touch for not

00:01:36.700 realizing that social media is one of the only female-dominated spaces where women run this shit. 1.00

00:01:43.060 Y'all cry about women's rights and women supporting women. Yet, women on this app are the first ones 1.00

00:01:48.200 crawling to reddit to complain about their favorite influencers putting them apart in their comments

00:01:52.760 saying they're so excited that they're gonna have to get real jobs now want to support women and

00:01:57.080 yet you're the first ones to discredit all of the work women do and let's take a step back for a 1.00

00:02:01.640 minute you also don't realize how many people that are invisible behind the scenes that you don't

00:02:05.880 even realize work at tiktok work on campaigns with agencies work in advertising that are about to lose

00:02:11.800 their jobs in an already impossible job market you don't want to see women have autonomy over 1.00

00:02:16.840 their schedules be able to be the breadwinners of their families have the freedom to leave really

00:02:21.960 bad situations normal consumers and normal people in the job market are struggling to find work

00:02:28.360 now i am devastated because all the women crying on tiktok make me a lot of money this is hilarious 0.99

00:02:35.080 however this is very entertaining because we're all getting laid off left and right i know i was

00:02:40.440 i was laid off twice only one percent of your favorite influencers ones that you built up

00:02:46.280 only to bring back down the ones bringing in those million dollar paychecks you're okay seeing moms 1.00

00:02:51.640 that are able to support their kids leave toxic environments you built their confidence up you

00:02:57.560 rally for their success losing everything because you don't really want to see them succeed now the

00:03:04.040 comments section aubrey i built my business on this app women really think being tiktokers is like a 1.00

00:03:11.720 real business it's super crazy but why aren't more people posting on other social media platforms as

00:03:18.040 well it never made sense to me that influencers only post on tiktok i can answer that it's incredibly easy

00:03:24.840 to get a tiktok following and i could say this from literal experience so when i first got on tiktok

00:03:31.240 i was posting i had a normal job and i was just posting a bunch of bs it was really easy i mean i would

00:03:38.440 make tiktoks replying to comments and they would get views it was like the easiest thing ever and

00:03:45.720 when i switched over to youtube i had to now i'm not gonna say it's still an influence it's still

00:03:51.480 media right so we're still i deleted the higher i erased the hierarchy of jobs but if it was still up

00:03:57.800 it would still be bottom of the totem pole right but it's just more difficult to convert so you'll see

00:04:03.960 all these big influencers on tiktok but you know that's like the easy app and i've seen them come

00:04:09.080 and go i've met a lot of the big influencers in la like i met the d'amelios years ago one of the biggest 0.94

00:04:15.960 families on tiktok and while they're all they made so much money that they're all stupid rich but they've

00:04:23.000 crazy fallen off since then i get it but there are a lot of influencers who go and spend a ton of money 0.92

00:04:28.680 when in the real world people with unstable jobs realistically what tiktok is aren't doing that

00:04:35.160 they're saving people underestimate influencers and social media so much it's ridiculous how out of

00:04:42.760 touch they are the industry has changed this is a legitimate line of work yet they pretend it's a fad

00:04:49.880 now can it be a legitimate line of work completely and i've met people that have made careers out of

00:04:55.800 media but it is unstable you are not going to be employed like an engineer is going to be employed

00:05:02.120 for life and you just kind of got to roll with the punches okay now this one was crazy exactly i'm about

00:05:08.840 to lose an income that made me six figures in the last five months now let's see this amazing content

00:05:17.560 that made her six figures in five months hey running racks are nothing new but when i saw this on tiktok 0.87

00:05:22.280 shop i had to grab it up i'm still learning on braiding my daughter's hair and listen i'm not

00:05:28.040 gonna get on here and tell you some crazy story about a stripper or my man was eating it from the 1.00

00:05:31.880 back but what i will tell you is i won 100 notice the difference by day four 100 these are the ingredients

00:05:40.760 nothing crazy and you could probably find all this on the own on your own this year i did my big one

00:05:45.960 next year i'm going bigger you think you hate me now i'm about to hurt your feelings one thing that

00:05:52.360 this election and a bunch of other things have kind of like taught me in general i mean you tell me

00:05:57.560 again on my basics journey another happy new year i'm back with some more plus size reviews and y'all know

00:06:02.840 i try to be six figures in five months i mean how was that content was that out of touch was it good

00:06:09.320 was it okay so why is tiktok being banned the department of justice says that tiktok being

00:06:16.680 owned by a china-based company means that data and opinions of u.s citizens are covertly manipulated by

00:06:25.080 beijing department of justice lawyers argue that the law is justified on national security grounds

00:06:32.360 tiktok says that it has been unfairly singled out making the argument that its data collection

00:06:39.000 practices and algorithms are similar to those of others use lead of the other leading u.s social

00:06:46.840 media apps tiktok legal teams say that banning tiktok would be an unprecedented unprecedented attack

00:06:53.640 on free speech in the united states while biden's administration supported and signed the law that

00:06:58.920 included the ban the administration under president-elect trump has different ideas trump filed a brief with

00:07:05.560 the supreme court to delay any ruling until he enters office he stated that he is confident he can

00:07:11.480 use his business savvy to negotiate deals for tiktok's american operations to be purchased by an american

00:07:18.520 company or group of investors while trump supported banning tiktok in his first term he has the sense

00:07:25.400 changed his position saying that he wants to be its savior this time around tiktok was perceived

00:07:32.040 as one of the major ways that his campaign appealed to a younger audience in this past election year

00:07:38.440 trump's support of tiktok is an uncommon one in washington as the laws banning the app receive

00:07:44.360 bipartisan support the usa government intelligence community overwhelmingly deemed tiktok as a cyber

00:07:51.960 threat to the united states if you already have tiktok on your phone it's not going to just disappear

00:07:57.880 from your phone on january 19th or 20th it will however very likely disappear from the app stores

00:08:04.920 this means that users will no longer be able to download the app or updated versions of it

00:08:10.360 and without the ability to update the platform won't be able to fix bugs add features or address

00:08:16.440 security concerns eventually it may become incompatible with the operating system of certain phones

00:08:22.920 over time the service you get with the application will become worse and worse so what is the public

00:08:29.160 saying about the tiktok ban when polled 51 of americans say the u.s government should try to force

00:08:35.640 the sale of the app while 46 says no there is definitely a generational divide on the subject as

00:08:42.360 only 39 of adults under 30 support the ban young women oppose the ban with two-thirds of women under 30

00:08:49.720 opposing the ban so the topic of today's call-in show do you support the ban and why and then lastly

00:08:57.480 oh my gosh my phone thing's glitching we're gonna watch a couple more tiktoks but we're gonna put the

00:09:02.840 zoom link in the chat and then bring people up so i want to know do you support the tiktok ban and why

00:09:11.080 please keep it to under like a minute and a half please okay let's watch i don't think the tiktok

00:09:17.560 ban is actually gonna happen have you done any research no i just feel like it's not gonna happen

00:09:21.400 like i don't know why you would like even test gen z like that like these significance of social

00:09:26.360 media specifically tiktok to me is insane like as silly as it sounds it's a big part of my life and

00:09:32.200 not even just because i'm a content creator but also because like i'm on it all the time use it as

00:09:36.360 a search engine like i use it to help me with my homework i learn things like the only reason i know

00:09:40.920 anything about the news or the california fires or anything is from tiktok i'm not checking the news i'm

00:09:45.800 not reading the newspaper the amount of people that like actually get income from tiktok including

00:09:50.120 me how am i supposed to pay for my college like social media and specifically tiktok like funds

00:09:54.680 my entire life for those family channels that like genuinely use tiktok as like a source of income

00:09:59.320 you're gonna pay for their bills i just think that we're all joking about it but if it actually happened

00:10:03.320 like we'd go insane okay let's go to the next one good morning everyone get ready with me while we

00:10:09.400 talk about what's gonna happen if tiktok does get banned so short version is if tiktok does get banned then

00:10:15.400 you will find me on instagram youtube and snapchat my username for my instagram is beanie and katarina

00:10:21.880 like it is here and that's the same for my youtube but i'm pretty sure i'm going to change it by the

00:10:26.360 end of the month to katarina fink just so it's even and the same on everything and on snapchat it's

00:10:32.280 katarina fink in all transparency if tiktok does get banned i feel like it will be very sad obviously like

00:10:38.280 all of you i've built such a strong community here with you guys and this is the first platform that i

00:10:43.640 actually grew on about a year ago which is just crazy but i do believe that if one thing goes

00:10:50.920 another good thing will come so i know that we'll find each other in another platform to communicate

00:10:55.800 in another way i'm not going anywhere i'm still going to be posting online somewhere so it's not

00:11:01.880 too much of a concern to me because financially this is my full-time job social media and tiktok is just

00:11:07.640 one of the platforms that i focus my time on and one of my main platforms but i do think that it'll

00:11:13.320 allow me to focus more time on things that i want to grow this year which is youtube and my snapchat

00:11:20.200 my goal this year is to make videos every single week vlogging just like a day in the life videos

00:11:25.000 of what happens with mom and i and just what i'm doing in my life with everything going on i'm a very

00:11:29.960 positive person so i do think that something good will come out of tiktok being banned you would say

00:11:35.960 but i will miss you guys and know that you will find me anywhere else the same username it's also my

00:11:42.040 bio if you want to go check that out but regardless this app has really changed my life

00:11:46.120 like this was the one app that i started to create following on in a community some of you have been

00:11:51.240 here since the beginning when i was posting videos of me and be me when i first got her so i just really

00:11:57.000 appreciate you guys sticking around and helping me grow with who i am and sharing just like what's

00:12:02.840 going on in my life because this is a great outlet for me to be able to express that and kind of get

00:12:07.480 feedback from you guys which has been so supportive and so gracious and not to mention have a job that

00:12:12.360 i absolutely love but with all that being said i love you guys and i really do hope that tiktok

00:12:17.960 doesn't get banned but if it does you know where to find me i love you and have a great day yeah and

00:12:23.880 then we have the audacity to say we're oppressed we get to make money off of just existing existing

00:12:29.720 i feel so alone so much of the time tiktok has been so great at just automatically pushing

00:12:38.600 my sad mopey content that i feel like i need to release to function as a human being because i have

00:12:47.560 no one else to talk to to the right people who are going through the right things some people yeah you

00:12:52.440 see they treat it as a diary so you know this disappearing it's kind of like losing a friend

00:12:59.080 unfortunately they're like oh just post on instagram like just post on facebook whatever scary the only

00:13:06.200 people they're seeing that aren't going to be the people going through those same things or who understand

00:13:10.120 it or who the algorithm magically knows i need to talk to you it's going to be solely people who are

00:13:18.280 judging not that there's not that here that's that everywhere because that is just people period but

00:13:23.640 i feel like it's going to be like a very another one crying someone said elon musk is in talks to buy

00:13:31.720 it let me see that would be awesome to buy is that true oh my gosh that would be amazing okay i wanted

00:13:39.240 to go through my opinion now what do i think about tiktok now i think there's pros and cons of banning

00:13:47.080 tiktok now the pros of con of the pros of tiktok in general as an app it is really easy to post videos

00:13:57.240 meaning your a-list celebrities can get the app and you can see a whole different side of them you get

00:14:02.680 to see you know jennifer aniston or selena gomez just tweet recording a random video in their house

00:14:09.480 as a con it also allows a lot of people with zero talent to just exist pro 304s cannot keep their

00:14:18.600 mouth shut so i have plenty of content it's amazing i have a lot to talk about on my show

00:14:25.800 con of tiktok 304s can't keep their mouth shut so it is a very big only fans funnel pro you can find

00:14:34.040 out catfish is easier have you ever wondered if that girl you follow on instagram is as hot as you 1.00

00:14:40.760 think she is go to her tiktok because they don't put near as much makeup on to take a tiktok video 1.00

00:14:47.560 so my personal opinion on the matter is it's probably better for society if it doesn't exist but i think

00:14:54.280 the genie's out of the bottle there's no going back you know the same way it's probably better for

00:14:59.160 birth control you know if birth control didn't exist but the genie's out of the bottle i mean how

00:15:04.600 have conservatives stopped abortion by protesting it for 70 years i got better things to do and i i

00:15:10.440 also need to get these clips so society's burning anyway literally look at california i think that

00:15:16.920 people are naive that think that it's not going to keep going the way it's going if only fans exist

00:15:23.720 then i think tiktok should exist i think it's actually quite effed up that we're talking about

00:15:28.360 banning tick tock before only fans and tick tock is a very liberal app and i know this because when

00:15:34.280 i was on tick tock i did vlog content i did i mean stupid stuff i was like young right and i got banned

00:15:42.280 when i started doing real content so i started doing street interviews giving my opinions on political

00:15:49.480 topics but what actually got me banned was i was in england and i was doing a street interview and this

00:15:55.080 interview was at night and i there's a woman that said that her life was so hard because as a woman

00:16:01.320 she can't walk home alone at night i'm thinking we're both walking alone at night and this woman

00:16:07.160 is ready to fight me i mean she's like growling at me like it's very she's this overweight british lady 1.00

00:16:13.720 and i said you know men can't walk home alone at night either they're more likely to be victims of a

00:16:19.720 violent crime she knocks the mic out of my hand and tries to attack me i had a guy friend there 1.00

00:16:26.040 and she said i'll have you you slag i'll have you you slag i didn't know what a slag was i was new to 0.99

00:16:34.360 england but i knew i was being insulted turns out that was a whore i did not know what it meant and so 1.00

00:16:39.160 i said well you're a whale she's objectively fat i mean this is objective which i am thinking about 0.97

00:16:45.480 bringing back whale merch so you know if you guys have an opinion on that put it in the chat but 0.93

00:16:50.520 yeah they banned me on tick tock because i called her a whale even though she called me a slag first 1.00

00:16:54.920 that's how gynocentric i couldn't even say an objective fact and really it wasn't even an insult

00:17:00.440 because whales are beautiful majestic creatures so you know i want to get like a beware beware of whale

00:17:07.080 shirt maybe i could put that ladies thing on it can i get sued for that 1.00
