A homeowner in the town of Lindsay, Ontario was asleep at night at 3am when someone broke into his house. Police came and they charged the homeowner with assault and other serious crimes. The homeowner fought back and the intruder was killed.

00:06:17.300A young man used his firearm to defend himself, his family, and his home from some armed thugs who broke in.
00:06:24.000The police was quick to charge him with second-degree murder, regardless of the circumstances.
00:06:30.520The man's lawyer made the case that this was a clear example of self-defense.
00:06:35.680To my understanding, the case has since been solved, and thankfully, the man who shot the intruder had the charges dropped.
00:06:43.060But not without going through hell, thinking he could possibly go to jail for a long time after having to protect his family inside his own home.
00:06:51.340Well, the homeowners among five people charged after an attempted car theft overnight in Vaughn.

00:07:08.040So according to York Regional Police, multiple suspects attempted to break into several homes this morning up in Vaughn.
00:07:14.920And the allegations are that a homeowner interrupted a bunch of suspects from trying to steal a car from his driveway, and he fired his gun at them.
00:08:05.560that rewards unlawful behavior again and again and again, while creating an environment in which law-abiding citizens have to fear the consequences of defending themselves and their property on top of having to worry about the criminals.
