REAL AF with Andy Frisella - How to Hold Meetings That Don't Suck, with Andy Frisella - MFCEO15

00:00:00.000 What's up guys all you little MFers out there guess who it is it's Andy the MF CEO and I'm here with my good friends Ben Newman what's up what's going on Andy I'm here with Vaughn I'm fired up on the pastor

00:00:29.540 I'm fired up

00:00:30.580 Oh you didn't say ex-pastor this time

00:00:32.620 I didn't say ex-pastor you know because I don't want people to think that I'm ashamed of it because I'm not but you know I've been working on that Bible verse rap

00:00:40.840 Yeah

00:00:41.340 Yeah I'm not ready

00:00:42.240 We're going to break it out

00:00:42.920 I'm not ready for it yet but

00:00:44.440 And welcome back we have a special guest today Teresa DiPasquale CEO of Bikini Boss Fitness what's up 0.54

00:00:52.420 What's up guys

00:00:53.360 She is a fitness entrepreneur and a new author

00:00:57.840 Yeah

00:00:58.560 Congratulations on that

00:00:59.680 Thank you

00:01:00.220 Tell people the name of your book that's coming out

00:01:02.740 Book will be out this spring it's called Boss to Bikini and it's a program that's getting the world's busiest women in ridiculous shape 1.00

00:01:09.340 And we'll probably have a pre-sale here in the next couple of months

00:01:12.120 Yeah cool that's awesome man

00:01:13.820 So a lot of times we have the question they picked out today we do not so I'm going to start out the question of the day 0.93

00:01:19.920 What the fuck is wrong with people who come on your Facebook page and just seem to like write the opposite shit of whatever it is that you post about 0.97

00:01:30.540 Like none of you guys at this table are these kind of people right 0.99

00:01:33.540 No obviously 0.98

00:01:34.400 No like do we not just scroll like why don't you just scroll through like when I see something that's ridiculous I just fucking scroll through 0.93

00:01:42.220 Or unfollow 0.90

00:01:42.820 Or yeah or whatever

00:01:43.980 What is it what why do people feel the need to express themselves negatively

00:01:48.100 I believe that it makes them feel better about the fact that they are doing nothing

00:01:52.580 To move the ball forward with what goals they they could have or should have or would have in their lives

00:01:58.560 It's a way to take up time because they're not doing anything

00:02:00.420 I I can't relate to the mentality at all

00:02:04.540 Yeah

00:02:05.080 I mean Vaughn what do you think the reason is

00:02:07.060 I don't know I I always say people have the right to disagree with me

00:02:10.220 It's the same as their right to be wrong 0.98

00:02:12.540 Okay 1.00

00:02:13.600 You know because if there's a big difference between disagreeing and just being an ass 1.00

00:02:18.000 An ass 0.99

00:02:18.480 No no no I hear what you're saying I mean yeah I don't know 1.00

00:02:21.100 I'm talking about being an ass 0.99

00:02:22.360 You're saying intentionally disrespectful to the point you're trying to make 0.98

00:02:25.340 Yes exactly

00:02:25.960 I see this going on more and more and more in society

00:02:29.400 I see like you know people just you know the word is trolling and I'm like

00:02:34.240 Anonymity it's internet tough guy

00:02:36.140 Yeah I mean because like when you grow up and like you know you're you know in real life

00:02:41.280 It's just funny because in real life you know these things people would never do this to each other

00:02:45.160 You know what I mean it's it's this it's this ability for somebody to like pick on other people

00:02:49.880 And dude I always see people picking on people that like are on that borderline of like being fragile

00:02:55.800 You know what I mean like you know people who are of social media and have a big following

00:03:00.360 Teresa you have a big following I've got a pretty big following 0.98

00:03:03.240 Ben you're getting a big following I mean we're used to that shit right 0.98

00:03:06.720 But let's say you got somebody who's on the borderline and they're stepping out of their comfort zone 1.00

00:03:10.720 And you get somebody who's just the size to be a fucking ass 1.00

00:03:13.660 And and that person just quits 1.00

00:03:16.040 You know that person says man I don't want to do this

00:03:18.060 Like they're in that fragile state that we've all been through 0.99

00:03:20.660 And it's just something that gets on my fucking nerves man 0.99

00:03:24.100 Yeah I think I misunderstood your question 0.98

00:03:26.560 Because I think I yeah I think when you when you said that I thought you were just talking about

00:03:30.740 Healthy debate you're talking about people who are trolling

00:03:34.060 Being cocksuckers okay people know exactly what they're doing yeah right I gotcha 1.00

00:03:38.920 In other words in other words they don't want to engage you they're just want to shoot you down 1.00

00:03:42.200 Yeah and and like I it doesn't bother me like when people say that shit to me 0.98

00:03:45.880 But what it does bother me is when I see them do it to people who are like just stepping out 0.80

00:03:50.140 Yeah like they're just coming out trying to step out of that comfort zone 0.99

00:03:53.060 And then you get some fucker that just steps in and squashes it 0.99

00:03:55.840 I don't understand what's wrong with people 0.99

00:03:57.500 You know it's funny I actually have to coach my girls on that

00:03:59.420 Because you know part of what we do is marketing ourselves

00:04:01.520 Right right developing your own brand online and as you start coming to on social media you

00:04:06.640 Obviously get all these types of people commenting and a lot of the girls get like totally down themselves and embarrassed 0.98

00:04:12.880 And I'm like no no no you gotta have a thick skin

00:04:14.500 Yeah because you know what you know what it is is like all of us when that happens

00:04:18.660 We imagine that it's like somebody like us sitting there writing that comment

00:04:22.520 No gosh no

00:04:23.220 You know you get what I'm saying though

00:04:24.120 Yeah

00:04:24.280 We're like why would somebody do that I wouldn't do that blah blah blah 1.00

00:04:26.760 But in reality it's some fucking douchebag who who's sitting at 39 years old in his mom's basement 1.00

00:04:32.580 And hasn't fucking washed his underwear in seven weeks typing some comment on the internet 1.00

00:04:37.080 He's probably wearing like you know some sort of fucking gamer headset 1.00

00:04:40.760 Mom give me some meatloaf 1.00

00:04:42.160 Yeah

00:04:42.440 Mom where's the meatloaf

00:04:44.240 Yeah

00:04:44.760 I mean dude that's what it is man

00:04:46.480 And like that's what you guys have to remember is that these people when they try to step out and step on you

00:04:51.420 You know that's what that's what you have to remember who this is

00:04:54.600 You know this is a dude sitting there

00:04:55.960 So true 1.00

00:04:56.620 In his fucking boxers with dirty socks on you know and dirty underwear talking shit 1.00

00:05:02.380 Yeah 1.00

00:05:02.880 You know because that's the most common comment I get on my Periscopes

00:05:05.620 If you're not following me on Periscope follow me on Periscope

00:05:08.660 You like Periscope?

00:05:09.740 Dude

00:05:09.960 I just broke into most love on Periscope like three days ago

00:05:13.340 That's awesome

00:05:13.820 Are you serious?

00:05:14.380 Yeah I told you before

00:05:14.700 I told you last week's podcast I would get there

00:05:16.560 Atta baby

00:05:16.780 Yeah we got a that's top 40 in the world

00:05:19.160 That's awesome

00:05:19.880 So

00:05:20.280 That's very cool

00:05:21.360 That's an awesome app man

00:05:22.600 I mean it's it's something that is going to change the way social media works

00:05:26.660 Because dude when you represent yourself on Instagram and Facebook

00:05:31.040 You could pre-manufacture this image

00:05:33.420 With Periscope there's there's 100% transparency

00:05:36.380 You are what you are 1.00

00:05:37.540 You're a fucking live performer 1.00

00:05:38.720 Right 1.00

00:05:39.160 So if you can't do that

00:05:40.320 If you're fake it's not for you

00:05:42.980 You know what I mean?

00:05:44.360 And it's going to be I think it's going to catch fire

00:05:45.880 If you need a teleprompter it is not for you

00:05:46.960 No it's not man

00:05:47.900 Obama would not be good on Periscope 1.00

00:05:49.280 He would be fucking terrible 1.00

00:05:50.680 He would be 0.99

00:05:51.460 But actually in fairness to him

00:05:53.240 Most of our congress would be terrible

00:05:54.600 Dude yes

00:05:55.320 Right

00:05:55.880 But that's what's going to change the world about the app

00:05:58.180 Because people are going to expect

00:06:00.040 It's not like Twitter where you can have somebody manage it

00:06:02.340 Or Facebook where you have some management 1.00

00:06:04.460 It's you fucking talking to people 0.99

00:06:05.940 And them talking to you 0.99

00:06:07.300 It's awesome

00:06:08.520 That's why you haven't seen it flooded with more people

00:06:10.780 Who are actively doing Periscopes

00:06:12.480 Because you have to have a natural talent to communicate

00:06:15.100 To be able to put together a Periscope

00:06:16.560 It's a really cool app man

00:06:17.640 I follow some cool people

00:06:18.800 And I've learned a lot myself on it

00:06:20.940 Most of my comments

00:06:22.260 Because I always have Q&A on there

00:06:23.940 Most of my comments are comments of this nature

00:06:27.480 Which is why I chose it for question of the day

00:06:29.180 They're like 0.99

00:06:29.480 Well how do you get around people talking shit 0.99

00:06:31.420 Or how do you get around this 0.99

00:06:32.340 Or how do you get around that

00:06:33.260 And I just did a whole Periscope on this today 0.96

00:06:35.600 You know there's a big fucking difference 0.94

00:06:37.360 It's between somebody hating 0.98

00:06:39.080 And somebody criticizing

00:06:41.880 Okay

00:06:42.740 Hate is like straight up

00:06:45.300 Lies spread about you 1.00

00:06:46.940 Slander 1.00

00:06:47.540 Like shit 1.00

00:06:48.400 And putting it out there for the public 1.00

00:06:50.020 Alright that's hate

00:06:51.160 Slashing your tires

00:06:52.340 That's hate

00:06:52.900 Setting your car on fire 1.00

00:06:54.100 That's fucking hate 1.00

00:06:55.180 Okay 0.99

00:06:55.880 Somebody saying

00:06:57.040 Hey

00:06:57.340 I don't like the way

00:06:58.820 Your shirt

00:06:59.320 Your shirt should be blue instead of red

00:07:01.120 That's not hate

00:07:02.240 You know

00:07:03.060 Somebody saying

00:07:03.660 Hey I don't like the way 1.00

00:07:04.540 Your fucking protein taste 1.00

00:07:05.800 That's not hate 1.00

00:07:06.800 Alright

00:07:08.080 You guys have to differentiate

00:07:09.960 What is hate

00:07:10.840 Because the reality is 0.99

00:07:12.260 You don't get fucking hate 0.97

00:07:13.360 Unless you're doing something 0.98

00:07:14.820 And when you're just starting out

00:07:16.400 I'm not trying to be rude

00:07:17.900 In the way I say this

00:07:18.640 But you have not done enough

00:07:19.860 To really get hate

00:07:21.660 Okay

00:07:22.420 So

00:07:23.100 Most of it's criticism

00:07:24.580 And you guys are labeling it as hate

00:07:26.500 And the reality is

00:07:28.100 Is you can use that information

00:07:29.560 To improve your product

00:07:30.620 Your service

00:07:31.180 Or your brand

00:07:31.980 If you just would remove the idea

00:07:34.100 Of this

00:07:34.960 Pussified thought

00:07:36.420 That it's hate 0.99

00:07:36.920 It's not fucking hate 0.98

00:07:37.880 Hate is 0.97

00:07:38.880 You know

00:07:39.500 Somebody shooting

00:07:40.480 Martin Luther King 1.00

00:07:41.480 That's fucking hate 1.00

00:07:42.780 Okay 1.00

00:07:43.560 Hate is

00:07:44.520 Somebody

00:07:45.180 You know

00:07:45.700 Attacking somebody 1.00

00:07:47.060 Or shooting them 0.99

00:07:47.860 Or you know 1.00

00:07:48.840 Beating the shit out of them 0.99

00:07:50.120 You know 0.99

00:07:50.760 Like that kid up in Wyoming

00:07:51.980 A few years ago

00:07:52.880 10 years ago

00:07:53.920 15 years ago 0.99

00:07:54.580 They killed him because he was gay 1.00

00:07:55.720 That's fucking hate 1.00

00:07:56.700 Right 1.00

00:07:57.060 Alright

00:07:57.420 Hating is not saying

00:07:58.460 You should make that shirt 0.99

00:07:59.620 In fucking green 1.00

00:08:00.380 And it looks stupid and blue 1.00

00:08:01.840 You have bad form on your squat 1.00

00:08:03.160 Yeah

00:08:03.360 You have bad form on your squats

00:08:04.660 You know

00:08:05.180 Dude

00:08:05.700 No 1.00

00:08:06.260 Don't be a pussy 1.00

00:08:07.220 Identify between fucking hate 1.00

00:08:09.180 And criticism 0.99

00:08:09.800 And use the criticism to improve

00:08:11.380 It's interesting that you bring this up

00:08:13.900 Because I speak probably

00:08:15.140 80 to 90 times a year

00:08:16.740 And maybe

00:08:17.320 10 of the talks that I'll do

00:08:19.180 You'll get a feedback form

00:08:20.560 And I really don't pay that much attention

00:08:22.800 It's nice when people say things

00:08:23.980 That are nice

00:08:24.500 But I look for the comments

00:08:25.960 Right

00:08:26.320 That give me an opportunity to grow

00:08:27.580 I look for somebody says

00:08:28.680 You know

00:08:29.260 This story or that

00:08:30.420 Or when he communicated this way

00:08:31.720 And then I try to improve

00:08:33.080 From the feedback

00:08:33.840 I don't look at it

00:08:34.780 As somebody trying to hate me

00:08:35.940 They don't like me

00:08:37.140 It's somebody taking the time

00:08:38.820 To actually give you feedback

00:08:40.140 So that you can get better

00:08:41.480 And there's one moment

00:08:43.460 I remember

00:08:43.800 It was a big Wells Fargo talk

00:08:45.340 About 500 people

00:08:46.440 And there was this one individual

00:08:48.080 He had this great piece of feedback

00:08:49.460 It totally shifted

00:08:50.860 The way I started my talks

00:08:52.520 And it has helped me immensely

00:08:54.160 In my speaking

00:08:54.840 And how easy would it have you been 1.00

00:08:56.000 Like fuck that guy 1.00

00:08:56.880 He's just hating on the way I do shit 1.00

00:08:58.540 I could have sent it back 0.99

00:08:59.440 To the guy at Wells Fargo

00:09:00.540 Who hires me every year

00:09:01.680 And said like

00:09:02.220 What is wrong with this guy

00:09:03.380 Don't send that stuff to me

00:09:04.680 But I wanted to grow from it

00:09:05.960 But dude

00:09:06.060 The word hater

00:09:07.180 Has become such an overused 1.00

00:09:09.200 Fucking term 1.00

00:09:09.920 In our society 1.00

00:09:11.740 And now everybody's using it

00:09:13.400 As an excuse

00:09:14.080 And dude

00:09:14.500 I for one

00:09:15.800 Am so sick of the term

00:09:17.040 I can't stand it

00:09:18.760 You know what I mean

00:09:19.520 And you guys

00:09:20.680 You young bucks 0.89

00:09:21.460 Who are just starting out

00:09:22.320 In business

00:09:22.860 You guys have to realize

00:09:24.320 That you are going to

00:09:25.940 Get criticized

00:09:26.540 And you are going to 0.99

00:09:27.500 Do shit wrong 0.97

00:09:28.400 But that doesn't mean 1.00

00:09:29.780 People hate you

00:09:30.540 Those same people

00:09:31.300 That might be criticizing you

00:09:32.460 Might just not be

00:09:33.720 Presenting to you

00:09:34.400 The right way

00:09:34.940 And they might want you

00:09:35.760 To succeed

00:09:36.260 And that's why

00:09:36.700 They're telling you 1.00

00:09:37.380 The shit they're telling you 1.00

00:09:38.420 You know what I mean 1.00

00:09:39.360 You have to remember

00:09:40.420 Criticism and hate

00:09:42.220 Is two different things

00:09:43.060 Unless they're

00:09:44.120 You know 0.70

00:09:44.380 Shooting you 1.00

00:09:44.920 With a fucking handgun 1.00

00:09:45.840 Or setting your car on fire 1.00

00:09:46.800 Or spreading flat out

00:09:48.160 Lies about you 0.97

00:09:49.120 Harassing you

00:09:50.220 Okay

00:09:50.980 And even if they're doing that

00:09:52.280 It means you're doing

00:09:52.880 Something right

00:09:53.520 You know what I mean

00:09:54.720 So quit using that 1.00

00:09:55.560 As a fucking excuse 0.99

00:09:56.440 Because I'm tired of seeing it 0.99

00:09:57.540 Everybody I see on Instagram 1.00

00:09:59.060 I see 20 fucking memes a day 1.00

00:10:00.700 About haters 1.00

00:10:01.680 Dude you don't have 1.00

00:10:02.760 Any fucking haters 1.00

00:10:03.580 Your only hater 1.00

00:10:04.600 Is in your own brain 0.95

00:10:05.560 And you're afraid

00:10:06.540 Of what people 0.99

00:10:07.020 Might fucking say about you 0.99

00:10:08.380 If you step out 1.00

00:10:09.080 And do something

00:10:09.760 That's it

00:10:11.460 Absolutely

00:10:12.260 And then when you get

00:10:12.960 Fixated on the haters 1.00

00:10:13.880 You're not doing your own shit 1.00

00:10:14.800 No exactly 0.99

00:10:15.360 So you're focused

00:10:15.900 On the wrong thing

00:10:16.400 And you're imagining it anyway

00:10:17.760 You're saying

00:10:18.300 Oh I have this idea

00:10:19.140 And I want to step out

00:10:19.980 And I want to do this

00:10:20.820 But people might say this

00:10:22.860 And they might say that

00:10:23.720 And they might say this

00:10:24.420 Oh you know what

00:10:25.020 I'm not going to do that 0.99

00:10:25.860 And that's what fucking 0.99

00:10:27.080 That's what people call haters 0.99

00:10:28.940 When in reality

00:10:29.720 It's you

00:10:30.420 Talking yourself

00:10:31.560 Out of doing something

00:10:32.880 That's going to benefit you

00:10:34.140 It's craziness

00:10:35.960 It's insane

00:10:36.640 So you know

00:10:38.540 Susan Powder 0.99

00:10:39.460 Or whatever the fuck 1.00

00:10:40.100 That lady's name was 1.00

00:10:40.840 Stop the insanity

00:10:42.180 You know what I'm saying

00:10:43.220 Remember that lady

00:10:43.920 Yeah

00:10:44.380 Isn't that her name

00:10:45.500 Susan Powder

00:10:46.080 Yeah

00:10:46.520 The platinum

00:10:47.440 Not the platinum

00:10:48.080 But the pewter headed spike

00:10:49.340 Yeah yeah dude

00:10:50.040 But dude

00:10:50.620 You know what

00:10:51.120 She was all about

00:10:51.880 Helping overweight people

00:10:52.800 Get in shape

00:10:53.340 Yeah

00:10:53.660 And dude

00:10:54.080 She branded herself

00:10:55.140 And she was awesome dude 0.93

00:10:56.040 Stop the insanity 1.00

00:10:56.980 Stop the fucking 1.00

00:10:58.400 Hater insanity 1.00

00:10:59.240 It's ridiculous 0.95

00:11:00.100 You know 0.85

00:11:01.300 Do it because

00:11:02.040 You need to improve

00:11:02.800 Don't do it because

00:11:03.860 You know

00:11:04.680 Don't not do it

00:11:06.680 Because you're imagining 0.99

00:11:07.900 Shit that doesn't even exist 1.00

00:11:09.080 That seriously makes 1.00

00:11:10.380 No sense to me

00:11:11.180 You know what I mean

00:11:12.360 Absolutely

00:11:12.880 So unless somebody's

00:11:13.540 Slashing your tires

00:11:14.240 I don't want to 0.99

00:11:14.620 Fucking hear about it 0.99

00:11:15.380 Absolutely 0.99

00:11:15.900 You know

00:11:16.820 So question of the day

00:11:19.120 Answered

00:11:20.160 Now what are we really

00:11:21.620 Going to talk about

00:11:22.340 What are we talking about

00:11:23.660 Today Vaughn

00:11:24.240 Well we're going to

00:11:25.400 Step out here a little bit

00:11:26.460 Because the topic's

00:11:27.660 A little out there

00:11:28.320 But in the last two weeks

00:11:29.460 I've heard a lot of people

00:11:30.360 Complain about how

00:11:31.960 Common it is

00:11:32.920 To have really

00:11:34.500 Lousy meetings

00:11:36.100 At work

00:11:36.780 Like literally

00:11:37.800 You know

00:11:38.720 They make jokes about it

00:11:40.440 They talk about how much 0.99

00:11:41.320 It sucks 0.88

00:11:41.940 They want to like 1.00

00:11:42.840 Slit their throats 1.00

00:11:44.180 Dude 0.99

00:11:44.420 And so I know

00:11:45.780 That you have a unique

00:11:46.860 Approach

00:11:47.440 I do

00:11:47.860 To holding meetings

00:11:49.880 So we were going to

00:11:50.540 Talk a little bit about

00:11:51.340 You know we've

00:11:52.260 You know we talked about

00:11:53.360 The other day

00:11:54.080 Just the podcast

00:11:55.140 Is a little bit of a

00:11:55.940 Mixture of success

00:11:57.100 And motivation

00:11:57.840 And that sort of stuff

00:11:58.540 But we also like to be

00:11:59.340 Very very practical

00:12:00.220 So I thought this was

00:12:01.060 A really practical topic

00:12:02.580 Absolutely

00:12:03.020 Yeah

00:12:03.420 We get a lot of requests

00:12:04.480 From guys

00:12:05.060 You know

00:12:05.580 Wanting motivation

00:12:06.500 And we get a lot of

00:12:07.240 People wanting

00:12:07.860 More practical

00:12:09.080 Type information

00:12:10.680 That they can use

00:12:11.300 To improve

00:12:11.620 This is going to be both

00:12:12.940 Okay

00:12:13.420 Today you're going to

00:12:14.260 Walk away with something

00:12:15.200 If you're a manager

00:12:16.000 If you're a person

00:12:16.820 Who has to call a meeting

00:12:18.680 Of any sort

00:12:20.220 You are going to be

00:12:21.540 Better off for listening

00:12:22.240 To this podcast

00:12:22.740 Because we're going to

00:12:23.320 Cover some serious ground

00:12:24.420 I'm going to talk about

00:12:25.520 How I learn these things

00:12:26.940 And how they improve

00:12:28.100 My company

00:12:28.680 Alright

00:12:29.380 So we're just going to

00:12:30.760 Dive right into it guys

00:12:31.860 The number one thing

00:12:33.420 That you need to understand

00:12:34.520 About meetings

00:12:35.140 Is this

00:12:35.760 You need to approach

00:12:37.320 Every meeting

00:12:38.360 Like it's a huge time out

00:12:39.840 And the biggest game

00:12:40.900 Of your life

00:12:41.500 Okay 1.00

00:12:42.020 Not a fucking 0.99

00:12:42.640 Never ending 1.00

00:12:43.300 Time sucker

00:12:44.100 Time waster

00:12:45.240 Boring situation

00:12:46.880 Of you know

00:12:48.540 Hey guys

00:12:49.420 Let's have a meeting today

00:12:50.600 That would be great

00:12:52.480 What does everybody

00:12:53.060 Think about this

00:12:53.840 Hey let's have some

00:12:54.760 Donuts too

00:12:55.440 And some orange juice 0.99

00:12:56.260 That's what fucking 1.00

00:12:57.140 People think meetings 1.00

00:12:58.000 Are about

00:12:58.460 You know

00:12:59.060 I deal with companies

00:13:00.100 All the time

00:13:00.820 And all they want to do 0.99

00:13:01.920 Is fucking meet 1.00

00:13:02.540 Meet meet meet meet 0.99

00:13:03.300 But here's the reality 0.96

00:13:04.580 That doesn't get shit done 0.88

00:13:06.060 And it doesn't move you forward 0.99

00:13:07.100 It's a time suck 0.97

00:13:08.200 It's a waste suck 0.95

00:13:09.000 It ruins your culture 0.97

00:13:10.440 Because it disenfranchises 0.94

00:13:12.240 Your people

00:13:12.700 With your leadership

00:13:13.560 Alright

00:13:14.240 So you've got to understand

00:13:15.880 A few points

00:13:17.060 Right up front

00:13:17.880 What does a big coach

00:13:19.360 Do when he takes a time out

00:13:20.740 In a big game

00:13:21.380 Alright

00:13:21.860 What does he do

00:13:22.540 Alright

00:13:23.380 He settles down the players

00:13:25.380 And refocuses the players

00:13:26.860 That's step number one

00:13:28.320 Okay

00:13:29.000 Step number two

00:13:29.860 He makes adjustments

00:13:31.120 And sets up

00:13:32.320 The next couple plays

00:13:33.500 Alright

00:13:34.100 That's step number two

00:13:35.080 Step number three

00:13:36.300 He only talks about

00:13:37.900 What's vitally important

00:13:39.160 To the situation

00:13:40.260 That is at hand

00:13:41.160 He doesn't talk about

00:13:42.340 The weather

00:13:42.840 He doesn't talk about

00:13:43.840 You know

00:13:44.520 What book you read

00:13:45.520 He doesn't talk about

00:13:46.360 You know

00:13:46.640 How your family is

00:13:47.760 He doesn't talk about

00:13:48.580 What you had for dinner

00:13:50.140 He talks about

00:13:50.800 What we're trying to solve

00:13:52.160 What problem are we

00:13:53.060 Trying to solve right now

00:13:53.980 Okay

00:13:54.540 Let's stay focused on that

00:13:56.040 And the fourth point is

00:13:58.440 Is that you've got to

00:13:59.500 Get people back

00:14:00.260 In the game quickly

00:14:01.120 If you take them

00:14:01.800 Out of their game

00:14:02.440 They're out working

00:14:03.340 They're out in the zone

00:14:04.080 You disrupt them 1.00

00:14:05.160 To have a fucking meeting 1.00

00:14:06.120 You bring them in 1.00

00:14:07.100 They lose their focus

00:14:08.260 Because they've been

00:14:09.060 Sitting there talking to you

00:14:10.200 Because you're grandstanding

00:14:11.120 For seven hours

00:14:11.860 And no matter how great

00:14:13.220 You think you are

00:14:13.820 Nobody wants to hear you talk

00:14:14.860 Alright

00:14:15.360 Nobody cares about 1.00

00:14:16.640 The fucking long johns 1.00

00:14:18.680 And if you've got a culture 1.00

00:14:19.600 That cares about the long johns 1.00

00:14:20.760 And the fucking bear claws 1.00

00:14:22.040 That you bring to the meeting 1.00

00:14:22.820 You better redefine 1.00

00:14:23.800 Your fucking culture right now 1.00

00:14:24.820 Okay 1.00

00:14:25.300 So those are the four key points

00:14:27.520 Alright

00:14:27.760 Settle and refocus the players

00:14:29.660 Make adjustments

00:14:30.980 To set up the next couple plays

00:14:32.900 Only talk about

00:14:34.360 What's vitally important

00:14:35.440 And get people back

00:14:36.980 In the game quickly

00:14:37.860 What does that mean

00:14:38.500 That means 1.00

00:14:38.820 Get them in the fucking meeting 1.00

00:14:39.860 Get them out 1.00

00:14:40.300 Here in our company

00:14:41.460 We have a ten minute meeting rule

00:14:43.180 We do not have a meeting

00:14:44.320 In this company

00:14:45.000 That lasts longer than ten minutes

00:14:46.180 There is not one meeting

00:14:47.640 On earth

00:14:48.300 That should last longer

00:14:49.440 Than ten minutes

00:14:49.980 Get to the point

00:14:51.080 Make the points 0.99

00:14:52.740 Get the fuck back in the game 0.99

00:14:54.380 Okay 0.99

00:14:55.020 Why do you think people

00:14:56.160 Have such a hard time

00:14:57.120 Trimming the fat

00:14:57.940 Off their meetings

00:14:58.680 Dude it's corporate culture man

00:15:00.420 It's been bred into our system

00:15:01.960 For years and years

00:15:02.680 And years and years

00:15:03.360 You know

00:15:03.840 It's

00:15:04.280 It's the

00:15:05.420 You know

00:15:05.880 A lot of managers

00:15:06.680 Like to manage

00:15:07.880 Okay

00:15:08.160 They like to like

00:15:09.100 Quote unquote

00:15:10.200 Be in business

00:15:10.900 Or be a manager

00:15:11.820 Feel important

00:15:12.700 Yeah exactly

00:15:13.540 It feeds their ego right

00:15:14.800 I'm important

00:15:15.420 Right

00:15:15.820 Listen to me talk

00:15:16.920 Right

00:15:17.340 And we've all been there

00:15:18.960 I've been in a million

00:15:19.760 Dude I've held these meetings

00:15:21.400 You know how I know

00:15:22.480 I'm not sitting here saying

00:15:23.520 I'm not sitting here saying

00:15:25.440 This is how you should do it

00:15:26.400 I'm sitting here saying 0.99

00:15:27.020 I've fucking done it 0.99

00:15:27.680 The opposite way 0.98

00:15:28.260 And it doesn't work

00:15:28.900 You're gonna ruin your momentum

00:15:30.180 All right

00:15:31.000 I have learned this

00:15:32.900 Through experience

00:15:34.100 And lots of other people

00:15:35.940 Out there

00:15:36.420 Have done the same

00:15:37.520 I've held years and years

00:15:39.060 And years of pointless meetings

00:15:40.200 Years

00:15:40.980 Do you think that's because

00:15:42.660 There is a mentality out there

00:15:44.060 That thinks

00:15:44.580 Well we're business

00:15:45.720 I guess we have to have meetings

00:15:47.200 So they just have

00:15:48.220 This standing meeting

00:15:49.100 Every week

00:15:49.720 Or every day

00:15:50.860 At a particular time

00:15:51.740 And they're like

00:15:52.080 I guess I have to come up

00:15:53.240 With things to say

00:15:53.940 Because we're a business

00:15:55.440 We gotta meet

00:15:56.200 My experience has been

00:15:58.220 Is that there's a huge difference

00:15:59.380 Between a manager

00:16:00.240 And a leader

00:16:00.840 A leader does not want to be

00:16:02.360 In a meeting for an hour

00:16:03.420 A leader wants to get Andy

00:16:04.860 In front of him

00:16:05.420 Let's figure out what's going on

00:16:06.660 Here's the point

00:16:07.360 Here's a little bit of fire

00:16:08.420 Here's a solution to the problem

00:16:10.480 Go 1.00

00:16:10.960 And let's go kick ass 1.00

00:16:11.900 Whereas a manager 0.98

00:16:12.620 Whereas a manager wants to be able

00:16:13.380 To have eight

00:16:14.140 One hour meetings

00:16:15.520 Take a little break

00:16:16.880 Maybe grab a little food

00:16:17.920 So at the end of the day

00:16:18.720 He can report back to the CEO

00:16:20.080 What a busy day I had

00:16:21.960 I had eight

00:16:22.760 One hour meetings

00:16:24.100 And that's more managers

00:16:25.120 Than leaders 0.74

00:16:25.640 And if you listen to the podcast

00:16:26.940 You know

00:16:27.640 That being busy

00:16:29.160 Is not the point

00:16:30.160 Being effective

00:16:31.720 Is the point

00:16:32.340 How many of you all

00:16:33.680 Listening right now

00:16:34.540 Would rather sit

00:16:35.780 In a ten minute meeting

00:16:36.820 Than a one hour meeting

00:16:37.660 Show your hands

00:16:38.780 All right

00:16:40.080 I know everybody's 0.98

00:16:41.120 Raising their motherfucking hands 0.98

00:16:42.140 Right now 0.99

00:16:42.500 Saying yes

00:16:43.220 But how many people

00:16:44.840 Go to a meeting

00:16:45.960 And have to like

00:16:47.120 Go through these slides

00:16:48.440 And go through this stuff

00:16:49.720 And go through this

00:16:50.380 Usually people who are 0.70

00:16:52.100 Holding these kind of meetings

00:16:53.100 Are boring

00:16:53.900 You know

00:16:54.640 I've never been in a meeting

00:16:55.700 With somebody who holds it

00:16:56.880 For an hour

00:16:57.440 That's been exciting

00:16:58.340 You know

00:16:59.080 Let's face it

00:16:59.700 Most people aren't

00:17:00.900 Good at keeping people's 0.94

00:17:01.760 Attention for that long

00:17:02.560 Even if you have tons of energy

00:17:04.260 And tons of charisma

00:17:05.620 It's still going to be hard

00:17:06.840 To hold people's attention

00:17:07.880 That long

00:17:08.380 You know

00:17:09.080 We do ten minutes

00:17:10.220 It doesn't mean

00:17:10.860 You have to do ten minutes

00:17:11.840 That's what works for us

00:17:13.060 But just do the points

00:17:14.620 That we're talking about

00:17:15.320 Well I think the other point

00:17:16.380 To make too

00:17:16.880 That is a good one

00:17:18.500 Is that

00:17:19.380 We're talking about

00:17:20.580 The meetings

00:17:20.940 That you regularly

00:17:21.540 Have to have

00:17:22.220 They're obviously

00:17:22.900 Going to be

00:17:23.520 Every six months

00:17:24.740 Every couple years

00:17:25.560 A meeting where

00:17:26.240 It's going to be

00:17:26.800 More of an intense

00:17:27.540 Planning session

00:17:28.260 But yes

00:17:29.460 On a regular basis

00:17:30.480 You're talking about

00:17:31.220 Don't keep people

00:17:32.700 In the boardroom

00:17:34.040 For two to three hours

00:17:34.980 Back before there was

00:17:35.760 Like easy communication

00:17:36.700 Like there is now

00:17:37.380 Because now like

00:17:38.260 You can communicate

00:17:38.980 Most of the stuff you need

00:17:39.840 Through email or text

00:17:40.680 Whatever you need to do

00:17:41.280 And the meetings

00:17:41.700 Are literally

00:17:42.320 Need to be

00:17:43.620 Very like

00:17:44.460 For me it's trainings

00:17:45.240 If I have to train them

00:17:46.220 On something

00:17:46.500 It's like come in

00:17:47.100 Boom get them out 0.93

00:17:47.740 See I'm online

00:17:48.480 So I have to be efficient

00:17:49.600 Right

00:17:49.960 Because I can't

00:17:51.200 Get people in one spot

00:17:52.380 Often

00:17:52.740 Right

00:17:53.140 So it's taught me

00:17:53.880 To be very efficient

00:17:54.540 Right

00:17:54.780 But it's like

00:17:55.120 You can do most of

00:17:56.120 What you need

00:17:56.540 Through communication

00:17:57.180 And literally like

00:17:58.400 I don't even really

00:17:58.920 At this point

00:17:59.560 It's almost like a recap

00:18:00.460 Like dude

00:18:01.000 Alright everybody knows

00:18:01.760 The thing we're going to do

00:18:02.540 This is how you do it

00:18:03.640 If you don't know 0.99

00:18:04.220 Now get the fuck out 0.99

00:18:05.140 And let's go do it 0.98

00:18:05.640 Exactly

00:18:05.740 You know

00:18:06.540 And it should be more like

00:18:07.660 A go to battle meeting 0.99

00:18:09.020 Than it is a fucking 1.00

00:18:10.480 Business meeting 1.00

00:18:11.280 In my opinion

00:18:11.900 You know

00:18:12.620 But that goes back

00:18:14.040 To the culture

00:18:14.560 That we talked about

00:18:15.180 How you build culture

00:18:15.960 You know

00:18:16.340 Right

00:18:16.560 I feel like

00:18:18.540 The bottom line man

00:18:20.220 Is this

00:18:20.820 And people could improve

00:18:22.400 Their culture tremendously

00:18:23.380 By following the key points

00:18:25.280 That we just talked about

00:18:26.100 Too many bosses out there

00:18:27.260 Are holding two to three

00:18:28.240 Hour meetings

00:18:28.920 You know

00:18:29.720 That's all time

00:18:30.920 That you guys

00:18:31.400 Could be using

00:18:32.060 To go out 0.99

00:18:32.800 And get shit done 1.00

00:18:33.700 For you to hold 1.00

00:18:34.460 A good meeting

00:18:35.120 When at all possible

00:18:36.300 It needs to be done

00:18:37.020 Quickly

00:18:37.420 It needs to be done

00:18:38.400 Officially

00:18:39.180 It needs to be done

00:18:39.720 Effectively

00:18:40.280 And you need to be

00:18:41.220 Running out of the room 1.00

00:18:41.920 Ready to kill shit 1.00

00:18:42.660 That's the bottom line 1.00

00:18:43.760 You know

00:18:44.340 People need to 1.00

00:18:45.060 Trim the fucking fat 1.00

00:18:46.000 Get to the point 1.00

00:18:47.040 And get your guys

00:18:48.060 Back in the game

00:18:48.740 So that you guys

00:18:49.260 Can win

00:18:49.780 Okay

00:18:50.500 This isn't about

00:18:51.200 Who's the coolest guy

00:18:52.400 In the office

00:18:52.900 Or what we ate for dinner 0.99

00:18:53.980 Nobody gives a fuck 0.96

00:18:54.900 We all want to win

00:18:56.040 We're all in the business

00:18:56.920 To win

00:18:57.320 And guess what

00:18:58.220 We all want to make more money

00:18:59.420 And the way we make more money

00:19:00.280 The way we succeed

00:19:00.920 Is by going out 0.99

00:19:01.540 And fucking winning 0.99

00:19:02.160 And every minute you spend 0.99

00:19:03.600 Talking about 1.00

00:19:04.580 The fucking donuts 1.00

00:19:05.780 Or whatever else 1.00

00:19:06.780 You know

00:19:07.080 The coffee 0.99

00:19:07.660 Oh this coffee sucks 0.99

00:19:09.200 Every minute you talk about that 1.00

00:19:11.000 You are wasting time

00:19:12.820 That you could be using

00:19:13.640 To win

00:19:14.220 You know

00:19:15.340 And people get away from that

00:19:16.560 That's corporate America man

00:19:17.960 People spend so much time

00:19:19.480 Trying to justify

00:19:20.420 Their existence

00:19:21.580 And their payroll

00:19:22.400 I spent

00:19:23.560 17 hours this week

00:19:25.040 In meetings with the team

00:19:26.080 Oh really 0.99

00:19:26.620 Well I spent 7 fucking minutes 0.99

00:19:28.180 And they're more effective 0.99

00:19:28.840 Than your 17 hours

00:19:29.760 Now who commands more payroll

00:19:31.340 You see what I'm saying

00:19:33.000 I mean dude

00:19:34.560 I for one

00:19:35.680 I mean you guys know

00:19:36.820 All you guys know

00:19:37.640 You know

00:19:38.420 I run things pretty casually here

00:19:40.440 Okay

00:19:40.720 And you know

00:19:42.340 I wear the same clothes every day

00:19:43.920 You know

00:19:44.700 I buy my shorts

00:19:46.020 At Gander Mountains

00:19:46.680 I might show up in flip flops

00:19:47.900 You know

00:19:48.220 This is

00:19:48.560 The reality of business

00:19:50.300 Is not

00:19:50.740 The suit you wear

00:19:51.960 Or

00:19:52.640 The car you drive

00:19:54.260 Or the role you play

00:19:55.360 In business

00:19:55.800 It's about getting things done

00:19:57.300 You know

00:19:57.920 Excuse me 0.99

00:19:58.320 It's about getting shit done 0.99

00:19:59.200 This is the MFCO practice 0.99

00:20:00.460 I'm rubbing off on you man

00:20:03.200 Yeah

00:20:03.720 Gosh Vaughn

00:20:04.600 Vaughn

00:20:06.040 Vaughn is just making me

00:20:07.040 A non-cursing MF-er 0.99

00:20:08.520 Vaughn you're gonna ruin the podcast

00:20:10.720 I know

00:20:11.460 I know

00:20:12.180 So

00:20:13.160 You know

00:20:13.920 That's my first point

00:20:15.360 You know

00:20:15.720 And that leads me

00:20:17.700 Into point number two

00:20:18.540 Which is

00:20:18.940 The point of your meeting

00:20:20.220 Should be very clear

00:20:21.440 Okay

00:20:22.040 If your points

00:20:22.640 If you need to cover

00:20:24.120 More than one point

00:20:25.220 Per agenda

00:20:26.000 Fine

00:20:26.700 But keep the points

00:20:27.640 To a bare minimum

00:20:28.580 Okay

00:20:28.920 Don't overload people

00:20:30.240 With things that they need to do

00:20:31.420 I mean Ben

00:20:32.280 How many times

00:20:33.300 You spent a lot of time

00:20:35.040 In corporate America

00:20:35.760 Yeah

00:20:36.200 Okay

00:20:36.720 How much

00:20:39.080 That's where my comments came from

00:20:40.160 Yeah

00:20:40.400 How much time

00:20:41.380 I mean honestly

00:20:42.280 How much time is wasted

00:20:43.400 In corporate America

00:20:44.560 Via what we're talking about

00:20:45.820 It's

00:20:46.220 It makes me sick to my stomach

00:20:49.060 Even thinking about

00:20:50.060 How many hours I spent

00:20:51.500 In meetings

00:20:52.120 That I had no business

00:20:53.320 Being in

00:20:53.920 Because as a high performer

00:20:55.380 I wanted to be performing

00:20:56.600 I did not want to be stuck

00:20:57.720 In a meeting

00:20:58.160 Having somebody hold me back

00:20:59.400 Right

00:20:59.720 I cannot

00:21:00.260 I cannot take action

00:21:01.540 When I am required

00:21:02.600 To be sitting in a room

00:21:03.840 Listening to information

00:21:05.440 That really does not

00:21:06.500 Have any benefit to me

00:21:07.740 Other than the ten minutes

00:21:09.140 I could pull out

00:21:09.820 To your point

00:21:10.540 That actually did have the benefit

00:21:12.160 And the meeting

00:21:12.660 Should have been ten minutes

00:21:13.380 Right

00:21:13.620 And it doesn't matter

00:21:14.400 Guys

00:21:14.800 You guys might be

00:21:16.480 Listening to this

00:21:17.200 Okay

00:21:17.460 And I'm

00:21:17.900 You might be

00:21:18.840 A new business owner

00:21:19.880 With only one employee

00:21:21.020 These rules apply to that

00:21:22.860 Okay

00:21:23.320 You don't have to be

00:21:24.540 A hundred employees deep

00:21:25.740 Or twenty people

00:21:26.500 Or five people

00:21:27.320 It could be you

00:21:28.180 And one other person

00:21:29.060 We still need to stay focused

00:21:30.580 Because the reason

00:21:31.300 If we don't stay focused

00:21:32.360 Is that people get

00:21:33.660 Information overload

00:21:34.760 Okay

00:21:35.100 You flood them

00:21:35.760 With tons and tons

00:21:36.540 And tons of points

00:21:37.340 You know

00:21:37.940 You come to a meeting

00:21:38.720 With enough points

00:21:40.160 That are the same

00:21:41.520 As the amount of pens 1.00

00:21:42.620 In a fucking pen box 1.00

00:21:43.720 You know 1.00

00:21:44.300 You're going to overload

00:21:45.400 This person

00:21:46.140 With information

00:21:47.100 And they're not going to know

00:21:47.820 What to do when they leave

00:21:48.900 I'll give you guys

00:21:49.920 A good perspective

00:21:50.560 For the small business

00:21:51.420 So for our business

00:21:52.300 We have two full-time employees

00:21:53.920 It doesn't take a huge team

00:21:55.360 And then we have

00:21:55.760 Subcontractors we work with

00:21:57.180 But Kim 1.00

00:21:58.140 Who is basically

00:21:59.080 The right hand

00:22:00.360 Of the operation

00:22:01.100 My partner

00:22:01.680 She's unbelievable 0.63

00:22:02.760 Been with me over five years

00:22:03.940 She is incredible

00:22:05.180 We have a five-minute meeting

00:22:06.700 Every morning

00:22:07.180 I wake up

00:22:08.220 I have a to-do list

00:22:09.180 I send her an email

00:22:10.120 I call her after I drop off

00:22:11.740 The kids at school

00:22:12.420 If I'm in town

00:22:13.160 And I say

00:22:14.040 Kim

00:22:14.340 Any questions

00:22:15.060 Any thoughts

00:22:15.720 Hey I want to run

00:22:16.600 A couple things by you

00:22:17.440 Run them by me

00:22:17.900 It is five minutes

00:22:18.980 I could easily

00:22:19.960 On my calendar

00:22:20.600 Go

00:22:20.800 Kim

00:22:21.140 Let's have our

00:22:21.660 30-minute powwow

00:22:23.460 Let's start the day

00:22:24.840 Let's go have breakfast

00:22:25.760 And have immediate breakfast

00:22:27.260 It's five minutes

00:22:29.220 And she and I are so dialed in

00:22:31.120 She can speak like me

00:22:32.120 I can speak like her

00:22:32.900 I don't need more than five minutes

00:22:34.340 Call me later in the day

00:22:35.360 If you need something

00:22:35.920 We'll talk another five minutes

00:22:37.180 Right

00:22:37.480 It's five minutes

00:22:38.240 And that's a small business perspective

00:22:39.940 Right

00:22:40.300 And it works

00:22:41.200 It does work

00:22:41.920 You know

00:22:42.440 And so many employees

00:22:44.680 Become literally

00:22:46.100 Like there's a funny scene

00:22:47.280 I was just watching this movie

00:22:48.740 Last night actually

00:22:49.600 The need for speed

00:22:51.000 Everybody knows I love cars

00:22:52.060 Okay

00:22:52.360 Need for speed

00:22:52.980 Is a car movie

00:22:53.800 There's a point in the movie

00:22:55.420 Where one of the guys

00:22:56.460 Who's like the main car guy

00:22:57.740 Gets

00:22:58.400 He gets called up by his buddies

00:23:00.300 To go race across the country 1.00

00:23:01.640 And he's in corporate America

00:23:02.680 So he's like sitting in a cubicle

00:23:04.420 Typing on his computer 0.72

00:23:05.900 Like looks completely miserable 0.76

00:23:08.200 And they call him

00:23:09.280 And they're like

00:23:09.700 Dude come on let's go 0.94

00:23:10.700 We're gonna go for a ride

00:23:11.540 And if you've seen the movie

00:23:12.200 You know the part I'm talking about

00:23:13.140 So this dude like

00:23:14.220 This guy's like

00:23:14.820 No I'm not doing it

00:23:15.840 You guys ruin everything I have

00:23:17.120 And they're like

00:23:18.200 Oh well listen to the noise

00:23:19.300 And he hears the car rev outside

00:23:20.700 And dude he like freaks out

00:23:21.940 And then he like

00:23:23.040 Starts taking off all his clothes 0.94

00:23:24.240 And walks out butt naked

00:23:25.360 To the office

00:23:25.860 And it's hilarious

00:23:26.540 But there's one part

00:23:27.640 That is really the truth

00:23:29.840 Okay

00:23:30.480 He gets in the elevator

00:23:31.620 With a lady who's like 1.00

00:23:32.660 In her I don't know

00:23:33.620 Probably mid 60s

00:23:34.580 He's butt naked

00:23:35.700 Alright 0.74

00:23:36.340 She looks at him

00:23:37.940 And like look

00:23:38.940 And doesn't even notice

00:23:39.740 That he's naked

00:23:40.320 And she goes

00:23:41.300 I'm an accounting

00:23:42.080 And he goes

00:23:42.940 You feel like you're

00:23:44.160 Do you feel like you're

00:23:45.020 Dying inside every day

00:23:46.160 And she goes yes 1.00

00:23:46.940 That's what a fucking 0.99

00:23:48.640 Long meeting does 1.00

00:23:49.460 To your employees

00:23:50.080 A long meeting

00:23:51.580 Of you huffing and puffing 1.00

00:23:53.180 About stupid shit 1.00

00:23:54.580 Makes people want 1.00

00:23:56.060 To fucking kill themselves 1.00

00:23:57.420 Dive out of the windows 1.00

00:23:58.080 Okay

00:23:58.500 It's like the little emoji

00:23:59.660 With the straight face

00:24:00.420 And then the revolver

00:24:01.340 That people send

00:24:02.120 Like dude

00:24:02.800 You know what I'm saying

00:24:03.880 Like

00:24:04.180 A bunch of emojis

00:24:05.520 If you're running a meeting

00:24:06.860 And you're longer

00:24:08.740 Than 10 minutes

00:24:09.360 And your points

00:24:09.940 Are numerous 1.00

00:24:10.880 And all this shit 0.99

00:24:11.480 You should envision 1.00

00:24:12.500 Every single person

00:24:13.940 In that meeting

00:24:14.400 With the straight mouth emoji

00:24:15.840 Because that's what

00:24:16.880 They're thinking

00:24:17.280 If they're all texting

00:24:18.680 Each other

00:24:19.000 They're sending each other

00:24:19.880 That emoji

00:24:20.300 Alright

00:24:21.080 My brother told me

00:24:22.000 The other day

00:24:22.420 That he was in a meeting

00:24:23.160 That was like

00:24:23.600 An hour and a half long

00:24:24.860 And he was watching

00:24:25.980 Can't buy me love

00:24:27.040 On his phone

00:24:27.840 You know that old

00:24:28.620 That old 1980s movie

00:24:30.500 Can't buy me love

00:24:31.260 Yeah

00:24:31.540 Yeah but see

00:24:32.220 The person leading the meeting

00:24:33.540 Thinks that they are dead

00:24:34.640 On point 0.73

00:24:35.040 Oh they're killing it 0.92

00:24:35.920 Driving it home

00:24:36.760 They are just

00:24:37.840 Knocking the cover off the ball

00:24:39.040 Dude if you don't have

00:24:39.700 People coming up

00:24:40.340 To your meeting

00:24:40.860 After the meeting

00:24:41.500 And be like

00:24:41.740 Dude that was a great meeting

00:24:42.620 Yes

00:24:43.060 Then you're doing it wrong

00:24:44.060 Totally

00:24:44.280 Totally

00:24:44.920 Okay

00:24:45.140 So

00:24:45.880 There's guys

00:24:47.580 And this is not just

00:24:48.320 Us bullshitting here

00:24:49.280 Okay 0.98

00:24:49.480 There are studies out there

00:24:50.680 That say the human brain

00:24:52.020 Can only process

00:24:52.980 So much information at once

00:24:54.640 Three points

00:24:55.760 Is the usual amount

00:24:56.820 Of information

00:24:57.340 That people can walk away with

00:24:58.500 Five to seven

00:24:59.480 Is pushing it

00:25:00.080 And beyond that

00:25:00.780 It's a total waste of time

00:25:02.460 So anytime that you put in

00:25:04.100 Past you know

00:25:05.620 We're getting this

00:25:07.520 This this done

00:25:08.360 Is a waste anyway

00:25:09.820 It's scientifically proven

00:25:11.200 I don't have the study

00:25:12.360 To cite here right now

00:25:13.320 But we can find it

00:25:14.900 The reality is

00:25:16.020 Is guys

00:25:16.420 You can't overload your people

00:25:18.120 You're gonna kill their drive

00:25:19.340 You're gonna kill their motivation 0.53

00:25:20.340 You'll kill their momentum 0.53

00:25:21.640 And they'll hate you 0.98

00:25:23.220 You know

00:25:23.960 They'll make fun of you

00:25:24.640 When you walk by

00:25:25.360 And it's not like

00:25:26.120 They make fun of you

00:25:26.800 Like in a good way 1.00

00:25:27.520 Like hey motherfucker 1.00

00:25:28.280 What's up 1.00

00:25:28.760 It's like dude

00:25:29.600 That guy walks by

00:25:30.360 And they're like

00:25:30.660 God

00:25:31.060 I hate that guy

00:25:32.840 You know

00:25:33.680 And then they laugh about you

00:25:34.940 With beers

00:25:35.480 You know

00:25:35.860 Don't be that guy

00:25:36.880 Give him 1.00

00:25:37.460 Give him a fucking kick in the ass 1.00

00:25:39.600 Get him on track 1.00

00:25:40.400 And let's go out and win

00:25:41.360 You know

00:25:42.440 If you

00:25:44.500 If you go into a meeting

00:25:45.460 Without clearly knowing

00:25:46.680 What point it is

00:25:48.020 You want to make

00:25:48.660 Or what you're trying to accomplish

00:25:49.940 Your team members

00:25:50.720 Are gonna be even more confused

00:25:52.220 And more frustrated

00:25:53.420 Than they were

00:25:53.980 Being completely disorganized

00:25:55.900 Because you just wasted their time

00:25:57.860 Their energy

00:25:58.480 And their focus 1.00

00:25:59.280 To talk about shit 1.00

00:26:00.560 Is irrelevant to them 1.00

00:26:01.640 You know

00:26:02.440 You guys have to stay focused

00:26:03.920 You've got to stay

00:26:05.060 On a three point minimum

00:26:06.700 You know

00:26:07.460 Five point maximum

00:26:08.560 You know

00:26:09.360 I wouldn't even say

00:26:10.080 Three point minimum

00:26:10.620 I'd say it could be one point

00:26:11.700 It could be two points

00:26:12.700 But let's say five point maximum

00:26:14.140 Well

00:26:15.280 The thought I had was

00:26:16.480 I think a lot of managers

00:26:17.840 And I think they are managers

00:26:19.080 Ben you're right

00:26:19.680 That they're not leaders

00:26:20.380 I think managers think

00:26:21.540 Well if I spend all this time with them

00:26:23.700 Then in some strange way

00:26:25.740 They're gonna think

00:26:26.260 Well okay I care about them

00:26:27.640 You know

00:26:27.880 I'm present to them

00:26:29.540 But the reality is

00:26:31.020 It's exactly the opposite

00:26:32.560 They're devaluing

00:26:33.980 Their employees time

00:26:35.580 By wasting it

00:26:36.600 Well it's like

00:26:37.780 When somebody calls you

00:26:38.780 All the time

00:26:39.260 Okay

00:26:39.540 It's just that weird

00:26:40.720 Human psychology

00:26:41.560 About being in demand

00:26:43.180 You know

00:26:43.700 If you want people

00:26:44.700 To listen to what you say

00:26:45.740 Don't be available all the time

00:26:47.140 Come in 1.00

00:26:47.980 Kick ass 1.00

00:26:48.720 Get the fuck out 1.00

00:26:49.780 And then you're gonna have 0.98

00:26:50.940 Your employees pay attention

00:26:51.880 To everything you say

00:26:52.740 Because they're gonna trust

00:26:53.760 That you're not gonna waste

00:26:54.960 Their time

00:26:55.620 You see what I mean

00:26:56.780 So they already know

00:26:58.100 Like when Vaughn comes in

00:26:59.260 In the meeting

00:26:59.760 And he's got something to say

00:27:00.880 They're gonna listen

00:27:02.020 They're not gonna

00:27:02.780 You're not gonna have that problem

00:27:03.960 Of people looking around the room

00:27:05.260 And playing on their phones 1.00

00:27:06.940 And all this shit 0.99

00:27:07.660 Because they're gonna say 1.00

00:27:08.300 Alright

00:27:08.460 He's not gonna waste my time

00:27:10.100 He's only gonna be on

00:27:11.180 For five minutes

00:27:11.960 Ten minutes at a time

00:27:12.900 I'm gonna walk out of here

00:27:14.200 With something useful

00:27:14.840 I'm gonna pay attention

00:27:15.580 And now you have

00:27:16.280 You have a good culture

00:27:17.580 Of learning

00:27:18.560 As opposed to

00:27:19.420 You know

00:27:20.880 Just this

00:27:21.520 Going through the motion

00:27:22.500 Type thing

00:27:23.060 Because you're respecting

00:27:25.040 Their time

00:27:26.360 Right

00:27:26.960 Okay so maybe

00:27:28.120 You're gonna get to this

00:27:28.820 But I'm gonna

00:27:29.220 Hold your feet

00:27:30.160 To the fire a little bit

00:27:31.060 So you talked about

00:27:32.180 Trimming the fat

00:27:32.980 From your agenda

00:27:33.740 And you talked about

00:27:34.740 Only including that

00:27:35.960 Which is the most necessary

00:27:37.360 Well suppose you're

00:27:38.500 Coaching a manager

00:27:39.620 Or a CEO

00:27:40.460 Or whatever

00:27:41.000 And they have

00:27:41.640 They have an agenda

00:27:42.720 In front of you

00:27:43.400 And they say

00:27:43.780 Okay Andy

00:27:44.280 This is the agenda

00:27:45.100 That I had planned

00:27:46.380 For the meeting

00:27:46.880 That I was gonna run

00:27:47.760 And you see

00:27:48.580 That it's full 1.00

00:27:49.160 Of all sorts of crap 0.99

00:27:50.240 That shouldn't be on there 0.96

00:27:51.300 What are the questions

00:27:52.760 That you're gonna ask him

00:27:54.020 Or what are the

00:27:54.520 Little guidelines

00:27:55.320 That you're gonna give him

00:27:56.320 That's gonna help him

00:27:57.700 To trim the fat

00:27:58.940 On his agenda

00:27:59.720 You know what I'm saying

00:28:00.500 Okay so I'm coaching

00:28:01.260 Somebody who's giving a meeting

00:28:02.200 Right exactly

00:28:02.940 So that's a great question

00:28:04.520 And a great point

00:28:05.340 And it's a different perspective

00:28:06.600 Than what we're talking about here

00:28:07.660 Alright you're coaching

00:28:08.940 A manager

00:28:09.420 A direct report

00:28:10.920 Who manages people

00:28:12.220 For you

00:28:12.880 Okay first thing

00:28:13.920 You've gotta ask is

00:28:14.720 Is there a point

00:28:15.560 On the agenda

00:28:16.260 That only applies

00:28:17.480 To some people

00:28:18.200 Because a lot of people

00:28:19.020 Like to do this

00:28:19.820 They like to cover a point

00:28:21.480 They think that that's

00:28:22.900 An efficient way

00:28:23.660 To handle business

00:28:24.380 And they think like

00:28:25.060 Okay I've got two guys

00:28:26.440 That are screwing up

00:28:27.080 Out of 20

00:28:27.700 I'm gonna cover their screw up

00:28:29.140 In front of everybody

00:28:30.060 First of all

00:28:31.400 You know

00:28:32.120 That's a waste of time

00:28:33.120 Because if you've got

00:28:33.660 18 people doing it right

00:28:34.980 And you've got two people

00:28:36.440 Doing it wrong

00:28:36.940 You're putting those

00:28:37.620 18 people through time

00:28:38.720 That they don't need to be there

00:28:39.540 It's not efficient

00:28:40.400 It's not effective

00:28:41.160 Number two

00:28:42.240 While you think

00:28:43.300 You're covering something

00:28:44.060 It needs to be covered

00:28:44.780 With everybody

00:28:45.400 Those 18 people 0.75

00:28:46.740 Are thinking

00:28:47.140 Dude 1.00

00:28:47.480 I've got this shit 1.00

00:28:48.780 Okay 0.99

00:28:49.440 So they're

00:28:50.200 They're gonna become

00:28:50.840 Disenfranchised

00:28:51.700 They're gonna lose

00:28:52.280 Your

00:28:52.640 The trust in you

00:28:54.120 To deliver a quality message

00:28:55.620 So you've gotta cut that out

00:28:56.640 Right away

00:28:57.100 The second question

00:28:58.960 The second question would be

00:28:59.380 You know

00:29:00.860 Is there a point

00:29:01.740 That I could just include

00:29:03.080 In an email

00:29:03.700 A short email

00:29:04.700 A short message

00:29:05.380 And the likelihood is

00:29:06.600 There's probably a couple points

00:29:07.580 So you could just summarize

00:29:08.780 Those points in an email

00:29:10.160 Take those

00:29:11.160 Make a short email

00:29:12.240 Send them out as a supplement

00:29:13.560 To the meeting

00:29:14.140 Something like this

00:29:15.000 Hey guys

00:29:15.660 I know we just had this meeting

00:29:16.480 It was really good

00:29:17.260 Thank you for paying attention

00:29:18.480 Two things I wanted to mention

00:29:20.920 But I didn't want to take up

00:29:21.600 A lot of your time

00:29:22.100 Is boom boom boom

00:29:22.840 Right

00:29:23.580 That's real easy to do

00:29:25.140 Can I ask a quick

00:29:25.780 Follow up question

00:29:26.400 So

00:29:27.000 You've gotta basically

00:29:29.160 Build a culture

00:29:30.780 Where people understand

00:29:31.860 They're gonna be held

00:29:32.660 Accountable for reading

00:29:33.560 That email

00:29:34.080 Oh yeah

00:29:34.720 Okay

00:29:35.160 Absolutely

00:29:35.640 So otherwise

00:29:36.460 It doesn't work

00:29:37.140 Yeah

00:29:37.340 But yeah

00:29:37.760 I make them all respond

00:29:38.820 I do too

00:29:39.300 I have a

00:29:39.760 They have

00:29:40.180 I have a policy

00:29:40.740 When I send any kind

00:29:41.540 Of an email

00:29:41.900 I put in the thing

00:29:42.560 Please respond

00:29:43.240 Right

00:29:43.500 They need to respond

00:29:44.200 To let me know

00:29:44.620 That they read it

00:29:45.020 Right

00:29:45.240 And we do the same

00:29:46.220 We just have received

00:29:47.100 And understood

00:29:47.460 So all you have to

00:29:48.540 All they have to do

00:29:49.240 Is received and understood

00:29:50.460 And if they don't send

00:29:51.320 That back

00:29:51.760 They get a call

00:29:53.080 Or we come up

00:29:54.020 And see them

00:29:54.400 And say

00:29:54.600 Hey did you get that email

00:29:55.340 Blah blah blah

00:29:56.280 Everybody here

00:29:56.980 Is trained in that fashion

00:29:59.080 So

00:29:59.360 It's a good idea

00:30:00.420 Because it keeps

00:30:00.820 You know everybody

00:30:01.380 It's not like

00:30:02.000 To like

00:30:02.420 Guys this is not

00:30:04.040 Like something

00:30:04.480 You know

00:30:04.800 Where you're

00:30:05.220 Bringing down

00:30:05.660 The hammer on somebody

00:30:06.500 It's sometimes

00:30:07.100 People don't get emails

00:30:08.160 So you need to make sure

00:30:09.140 They're getting

00:30:09.580 They got it right

00:30:10.060 You know

00:30:10.600 Especially when you're

00:30:11.260 Sending out important

00:30:11.940 Important messages

00:30:12.920 You know

00:30:14.060 So

00:30:15.460 Definitely

00:30:17.040 You know

00:30:17.480 Make sure that you're

00:30:18.540 That you're

00:30:19.120 Following up

00:30:20.440 And that they're responding

00:30:21.460 That's a good point

00:30:23.020 You know

00:30:23.920 Another question is

00:30:24.840 Is there an explanation

00:30:25.800 Of a point

00:30:26.320 That I could just put down

00:30:27.300 On a handout

00:30:28.200 Or tell people to read

00:30:29.040 On their own time

00:30:29.780 Do that

00:30:30.820 You know

00:30:31.120 A lot of companies

00:30:31.760 Have just

00:30:32.420 Simple things

00:30:33.540 That they hand out

00:30:34.300 You know

00:30:34.580 Like a newsletter

00:30:35.300 Or this or that

00:30:36.040 Or a summary

00:30:36.640 You know

00:30:37.220 Every week

00:30:37.780 That's better

00:30:39.880 That's better

00:30:39.900 Than somebody

00:30:40.760 Spending five hours

00:30:42.680 Of your day

00:30:43.100 And we're talking

00:30:43.580 About options here

00:30:44.380 You don't have to

00:30:44.820 Use all of them

00:30:45.520 You don't have to

00:30:45.960 Put in all of them

00:30:46.680 We're talking about

00:30:47.180 Different ways

00:30:47.760 You can get this

00:30:48.640 Information out

00:30:49.280 Right

00:30:49.500 What strikes me

00:30:50.280 About what you're

00:30:50.700 Saying is that

00:30:51.220 You're treating

00:30:51.560 Your employers

00:30:52.440 Like they're adults

00:30:53.460 You're not

00:30:54.080 You're not

00:30:54.440 Holding their hands

00:30:55.280 Yeah

00:30:55.660 You shouldn't

00:30:56.560 People hate that

00:30:57.400 Right

00:30:57.660 Do you not hate that

00:30:58.420 Yeah absolutely

00:30:59.120 But I'm

00:30:59.640 I mean

00:31:00.340 I'm stating the obvious

00:31:01.140 Don't you want to

00:31:01.600 Just go out

00:31:02.040 And do your job

00:31:02.680 Exactly

00:31:03.360 What you want to do

00:31:03.940 When you worked

00:31:04.460 Absolutely

00:31:05.080 One thing that you

00:31:06.840 Just said which I

00:31:07.420 Think is a really

00:31:07.960 Great point

00:31:08.580 If people pay

00:31:09.180 Attention to the

00:31:09.760 Podcast

00:31:10.080 Andy reads a

00:31:11.020 Book a week

00:31:11.560 Andy reading a

00:31:12.460 Book a week

00:31:13.020 Makes Andy a

00:31:14.000 Very sharp leader

00:31:15.100 He's on his game

00:31:16.100 Andy doesn't need

00:31:17.200 To come onto the

00:31:17.840 Podcast and read

00:31:19.000 The book out loud

00:31:20.260 To all of you

00:31:21.120 But if you really

00:31:22.300 Want to get to the

00:31:23.000 Next level

00:31:23.560 If Andy mentions

00:31:24.460 The book are you

00:31:25.160 Willing to go read

00:31:26.100 The book that's the

00:31:26.900 Point Andy doesn't

00:31:27.660 Need to print out

00:31:29.000 25 pages from the

00:31:30.620 Book and read it

00:31:31.660 If he says it's a

00:31:32.540 Good book

00:31:33.040 And it helps for

00:31:33.960 These three points

00:31:35.120 Read the book

00:31:35.820 Right and he's

00:31:36.400 Using Andy as a

00:31:37.260 Term for like you

00:31:38.140 You know he's not

00:31:38.980 Talking specifically

00:31:39.760 About me

00:31:40.280 You know he's

00:31:41.560 Saying a leader

00:31:42.340 That's how you

00:31:43.840 Should be handling

00:31:44.380 It you know what

00:31:44.960 I mean

00:31:45.220 Right

00:31:45.800 Unless you just

00:31:46.280 Want to come

00:31:46.520 Or give me a

00:31:46.920 Kiss

00:31:47.180 You know what

00:31:48.540 My point is

00:31:49.400 I'm thinking in

00:31:50.420 My mind some of

00:31:51.060 The greatest leaders

00:31:51.860 I've had they are

00:31:53.160 Read up they're

00:31:53.780 Reading the wall

00:31:54.300 Street journal they're

00:31:55.040 Reading books they

00:31:55.720 Are staying on top

00:31:56.680 Of their game

00:31:56.840 This is what I do

00:31:57.580 Exactly

00:31:58.020 And you should

00:31:58.420 Emulate that

00:31:59.460 Exactly

00:31:59.880 You know what I

00:32:00.200 Mean because at

00:32:00.900 The end of the

00:32:01.300 Day the guy above

00:32:02.560 You is going to

00:32:03.400 Want you to

00:32:04.320 Emulate those

00:32:04.900 Things because it

00:32:05.800 First of all it's

00:32:06.600 Very it's a

00:32:08.120 Humbling respectful

00:32:09.120 Thing to do for

00:32:10.180 You to look up and

00:32:10.860 Say man I want to

00:32:11.480 Be where that guy

00:32:12.520 Is and when that

00:32:13.860 Guy has put in all

00:32:14.840 This work and he

00:32:15.480 Says this is where I

00:32:16.180 Got this is how I got

00:32:16.920 Here and he sees you

00:32:17.560 Doing the same dude

00:32:18.780 You are like five

00:32:19.980 Million times ahead

00:32:20.720 Of everybody else

00:32:21.320 Because he sees

00:32:22.080 Himself in you

00:32:23.200 While we're on the

00:32:24.360 Subject of books real

00:32:25.220 Quick for those of 0.98

00:32:26.480 You who keep

00:32:27.040 Emailing asking for

00:32:28.460 Your magic of

00:32:29.160 Thinking big book

00:32:30.160 I want to just say

00:32:31.100 Two things number

00:32:31.940 One Andy is very

00:32:33.440 Generously giving out

00:32:34.680 700 copies of that

00:32:36.740 Book unfortunately

00:32:37.740 Andy only has one

00:32:39.660 Co-host who is

00:32:41.340 Handling this so

00:32:42.120 Those those books

00:32:43.340 Are going out just

00:32:44.420 Just be patient we're

00:32:46.340 Getting them shipped

00:32:47.300 In and we haven't

00:32:48.700 Forgotten about you

00:32:49.540 However and I

00:32:51.040 Already covered this

00:32:51.640 Yesterday okay good

00:32:52.700 Well I'm glad you

00:32:53.340 Didn't send a 0.99

00:32:53.800 Fucking address in 0.99

00:32:54.680 Yeah and follow 0.99

00:32:55.420 Directions you're

00:32:56.040 Not going to book

00:32:56.480 Okay so you did I

00:32:57.460 Didn't know that you

00:32:57.920 Covered that so yeah

00:32:58.760 So be patient guys

00:32:59.760 We're going to teach

00:33:00.260 Everybody a lesson

00:33:00.920 You follow directions

00:33:01.780 You get the result

00:33:03.240 Right you don't

00:33:03.880 Follow directions 0.98

00:33:04.640 Tough shit right but 0.96

00:33:06.580 Either way they're 0.99

00:33:07.100 Going out so be

00:33:07.860 Patient the bottom

00:33:08.900 Line is this on the

00:33:09.700 Meeting stuff right

00:33:10.420 You've got to be

00:33:11.360 Ruthless and how

00:33:12.720 Much you trim the

00:33:13.560 Fat you can't you

00:33:14.960 Can't look at and

00:33:15.920 This is hard for

00:33:16.660 People who are like

00:33:17.560 Engaged and stuck in

00:33:19.500 Corporate America

00:33:20.180 Culture because this

00:33:21.140 Is like the opposite of

00:33:22.220 What they're used to

00:33:22.860 Doing so they see

00:33:24.020 Every little point

00:33:24.840 It's like well I

00:33:25.440 Don't know you know

00:33:26.880 There's two people in

00:33:27.560 That room that could

00:33:28.540 Benefit from that and

00:33:29.180 Cut that out okay

00:33:30.700 Andy you know I

00:33:31.200 Wanted to touch on is

00:33:31.960 The other day I heard

00:33:32.680 You I think it was

00:33:33.280 Periscope or something

00:33:33.960 You were talking about

00:33:34.600 How you have like your

00:33:35.260 Top five actionable

00:33:36.080 Items every day that

00:33:37.060 You have to get done

00:33:37.720 Yeah and so that's

00:33:39.000 When I'm making an

00:33:39.580 Agenda that's what I

00:33:40.420 Always go by is what

00:33:41.220 Is the most important

00:33:42.260 Top three things that

00:33:43.380 I need to talk about

00:33:44.220 To move my business

00:33:44.900 Forward right and I

00:33:45.820 Just leave everything

00:33:46.320 Else off right because

00:33:47.180 It's just like you're

00:33:47.620 Saying like if you

00:33:48.260 Start talking about too

00:33:48.900 Much it just waters

00:33:49.500 Everything else down

00:33:50.080 Yeah and then

00:33:51.080 I always gauge my

00:33:52.600 Agendas right well

00:33:53.700 Five points three I

00:33:54.840 Try to stick with three

00:33:55.960 Yeah important whatever

00:33:57.160 I'm trying to cover for

00:33:57.940 That meeting yeah

00:33:58.520 Because people I mean

00:33:59.440 It's the truth guys

00:34:00.180 They just get overwhelmed

00:34:01.680 And if you give people

00:34:02.940 Dude it's the paradox

00:34:04.460 Of choice right there's

00:34:05.380 A study called the

00:34:06.000 Paradox of choice which

00:34:07.240 Means if you give

00:34:07.720 People too many options

00:34:08.980 Guess what they choose

00:34:09.660 Nothing okay so if

00:34:13.500 You give people 17

00:34:14.980 Points guess which ones

00:34:16.700 They're going to

00:34:16.980 Remember they're going 1.00

00:34:18.260 To remember the fucking 1.00

00:34:18.980 Long johns you know 0.99

00:34:20.780 What I mean and

00:34:21.400 That's not what you

00:34:21.900 Want to remember we're

00:34:22.740 Running a business we're

00:34:23.900 Running a company we're

00:34:24.960 Here to win we're here 0.99

00:34:26.160 To do shit let's not 1.00

00:34:27.640 Worry about what orange 1.00

00:34:29.440 Juice we have or what

00:34:30.680 You know people are

00:34:31.500 Like it like I'm just

00:34:33.900 Going to go off here for

00:34:34.540 A second okay just

00:34:35.780 Warning you but the

00:34:36.940 Corporate America culture

00:34:38.600 Of like where we get

00:34:39.840 Our donuts and where we

00:34:40.760 Get our coffee and where

00:34:41.660 We get this and we're

00:34:42.840 Going to go have drinks

00:34:43.640 And we're going to do

00:34:44.220 This and we're people

00:34:45.420 Are so wrapped up and

00:34:46.560 Like playing the role of

00:34:47.680 What they see business to

00:34:48.880 Be that they never 0.97

00:34:50.160 Fucking get anywhere 0.97

00:34:51.280 And it's like 1.00

00:34:52.280 Disgusting to me like I

00:34:53.580 Go to meetings at other 0.94

00:34:54.420 Companies sometimes and

00:34:55.720 They're like oh well we

00:34:57.360 Can't start the meeting

00:34:57.860 Until the donuts are 0.99

00:34:58.540 Here motherfucker I'm 1.00

00:35:00.220 Not here for the 1.00

00:35:00.740 Fucking donuts I don't 1.00

00:35:02.260 Give a shit about the 1.00

00:35:03.000 Donuts I don't care about 1.00

00:35:04.520 The fucking breakfast 1.00

00:35:05.180 Burritos I don't give a 1.00

00:35:06.680 Shit about that you know 0.99

00:35:07.780 What I care about how 1.00

00:35:08.960 Can we move forward and

00:35:10.900 Guess what that's what

00:35:11.980 Your employees care about

00:35:12.880 If they don't care about

00:35:13.820 That you've got the wrong 1.00

00:35:14.940 Fucking culture going 0.99

00:35:15.740 For your company and I 1.00

00:35:18.200 Did not say you had the

00:35:19.640 Wrong employees I said

00:35:20.580 You had the wrong

00:35:20.960 Culture okay because the

00:35:23.840 Culture is instilled by

00:35:24.780 You okay if you've got

00:35:26.620 People worrying about the

00:35:27.400 Orange juice or the kind

00:35:29.780 Of bottled water they

00:35:30.520 Have or the icing on the

00:35:32.220 Long John is it's

00:35:33.100 Perfectly straight dude

00:35:34.020 You have the wrong

00:35:34.700 Culture people worry about 1.00

00:35:35.700 The wrong shit and guess 1.00

00:35:37.060 Whose fault that is 1.00

00:35:37.740 That's not their fault

00:35:38.480 That's your fault you

00:35:41.220 Know and it's time to

00:35:41.860 Change it the corporate

00:35:42.700 America thing it's done 0.66

00:35:45.980 You know and so many

00:35:47.500 People I see they try to

00:35:48.640 Run their business in that

00:35:49.600 Manner because they think

00:35:51.860 That's what business is

00:35:52.600 Supposed to be I don't

00:35:53.440 Know if they like see 0.98

00:35:54.040 Movies and shit done that 0.98

00:35:55.220 Way you know I'm saying 0.99

00:35:55.900 Like they see movies they

00:35:56.880 See TV shows and they see

00:35:57.960 People doing this yeah and

00:35:59.700 You know I don't know it

00:36:02.140 Just disgusts me I

00:36:03.340 Couldn't survive in that

00:36:04.060 Environment which is

00:36:05.440 Probably why I'm all my

00:36:06.620 Own business right yeah I

00:36:08.400 Mean could you see me in a 1.00

00:36:09.280 Fucking office like that 0.99

00:36:10.200 Oh my god dude 1.00

00:36:11.820 Talk about like going

00:36:13.880 Crazy man like I would 0.99

00:36:15.240 Go fucking crazy you know 1.00

00:36:18.320 Ben what kind of donuts 1.00

00:36:19.620 You bring you next time

00:36:20.500 Yeah long johns yeah

00:36:21.660 Well let's be real dude

00:36:24.760 Is there a better donut

00:36:25.580 Than the long john I

00:36:26.160 Have never heard of that

00:36:26.880 For the record I thought

00:41:47.020 Amounts of hearts is that

00:42:02.000 It on Periscope Travis

00:42:03.100 Newman at Travis J

00:42:04.580 Newman um uh Sue

00:42:10.320 Dude's killing it on

00:42:11.160 Periscope I mean dude

00:42:12.280 These guys come on and

00:42:13.540 Guys I just want to you

00:42:14.860 Know those are just a

00:42:15.560 Few I've got a lot of

00:42:16.440 People who are just

00:42:17.200 Killing it with uh with

00:42:19.320 The support on 0.88

00:42:19.980 Periscope I mean like I

00:42:20.980 Mentioned we've got to

00:42:21.700 The top 40 in the world

00:42:22.640 Now um and people

00:42:25.060 Understand that our

00:42:25.780 Mission with the MFCO

00:42:26.820 Project I think some

00:42:29.320 People aren't um grasping

00:42:31.980 It and you know guys our

00:42:33.200 Reason for doing this is

00:42:34.400 Because the way people

00:42:36.780 Have been raised for the

00:42:37.700 Last 25 years is quite

00:42:39.980 Honestly from my point 1.00

00:42:40.860 Of view total bullshit 1.00

00:42:41.640 Okay they come out with 1.00

00:42:42.580 This everybody wins

00:42:44.120 Everybody gets a

00:42:44.860 Trophy life is going to

00:42:46.120 Be perfect and then you

00:42:47.220 Get to be like 25 years

00:42:48.400 Old and you're like 1.00

00:42:49.400 Where's my millions of

00:42:50.300 Dollars and why aren't I

00:42:51.220 Famous and why am I not

00:42:52.260 Successful that's because

00:42:53.660 The people who raised you 1.00

00:42:54.860 Fucking lie to you okay 1.00

00:42:56.640 And this and the 1.00

00:42:57.340 Politically correct um

00:42:59.200 Society that we live in

00:43:02.500 Painted this perfect picture

00:43:03.880 That isn't the truth so

00:43:05.440 Our mission here is and

00:43:07.720 Why it's called the MFCO

00:43:09.040 Project is because this is 1.00

00:43:10.920 A fucking project for us 0.99

00:43:12.040 This isn't something we 1.00

00:43:12.740 Get paid for this is

00:43:13.900 Something we do because

00:43:14.760 We want to change the

00:43:15.640 World and we want to make

00:43:17.180 An impact on a billion

00:43:18.660 Lives okay that's our

00:43:20.100 Goal our goal is to

00:43:21.100 Impact positively a billion

00:43:22.400 Lives so when these

00:43:23.560 People come on periscope and

00:43:24.760 They push and push and

00:43:25.660 Push and click the hearts

00:43:26.860 And and leave reviews on

00:43:28.640 Our on our podcast and all

00:43:29.700 That you guys are a part

00:43:30.920 Of us fixing an issue with

00:43:33.060 Our society that's our goal

00:43:34.380 Absolutely and and guys

00:43:35.500 You guys who are hardcore

00:43:36.600 Supporting us and pushing

00:43:38.500 Us forward thank you so

00:43:40.220 Much because it's something

00:43:42.080 That needs to be done I

00:43:43.180 Don't see very many other

00:43:44.180 People really doing this um

00:43:46.380 And and it needs to be

00:43:48.080 Done that's the bottom line

00:43:49.400 Absolutely so we just

00:43:50.800 Really appreciate the

00:43:51.520 Support can I give a

00:43:52.400 Couple shout outs yeah

00:43:53.360 Yeah so uh guy I don't

00:43:55.460 Even know how to say this

00:43:56.380 But a guy at at lie o sco

00:43:59.480 83 underscore train to

00:44:01.420 Live just said just

00:44:02.600 Something really nice about

00:44:03.940 Us and and how much it

00:44:05.200 Meant that we we built him

00:44:06.600 Up and encouraged him

00:44:07.320 Every day there's an at

00:44:08.720 Johanna Johanna if I'm

00:44:10.400 Saying that right it could

00:44:11.120 Be just Joanna but it's at

00:44:12.860 J-O-H-A-N-N-A Cabral she 1.00

00:44:15.400 Said some really nice things

00:44:16.300 And then I got a kick out

00:44:17.380 Of this yesterday and of

00:44:18.620 Course Ben is up to all

00:44:19.860 Hours of the night but uh

00:44:21.620 I couldn't sleep last night

00:44:22.740 I was up till I was up at

00:44:23.900 Like three o'clock in the

00:44:24.740 Morning and I noticed that

00:44:26.020 Somebody literally with it

00:44:28.060 Well and actually I was up

00:44:29.420 Before that but somebody

00:44:30.640 Literally like five minutes

00:44:31.900 After we the podcast

00:44:33.820 Dropped because it drops

00:44:34.880 At midnight yeah I think

00:44:36.000 Like five minutes after

00:44:36.940 Somebody posted a pair of

00:44:38.140 Clapping hands and that

00:44:39.120 Was uh that was at

00:44:41.780 Margarita fit 11 yeah I

00:44:45.020 Recognize her yeah always

00:44:46.020 On yeah and I was like

00:44:47.240 Oh my gosh I even uh

00:44:48.580 Messaged her I said

00:44:50.000 Where are you up early

00:44:51.360 Either either that or out

00:44:52.900 Late so but you know we

00:44:54.420 Have tremendous fans who

00:44:55.780 Are incredibly supportive and

00:44:57.640 I don't know you call them

00:44:58.880 Fans followers listeners I

00:45:00.100 Don't know no we're part of

00:45:01.140 A movement yeah yeah you

00:45:02.760 Guys are part of a movement

00:45:03.700 We might be sitting here

00:45:05.240 Talking about these things

00:45:06.160 But you guys are

00:45:06.720 Supporting it spreading it

00:45:07.760 Telling your friends sharing

00:45:09.160 It giving hearts leaving

00:45:10.700 Reviews and that's what

00:45:11.740 Propels this message yeah so

00:45:13.500 And that's the point that I

00:45:14.680 Want to say is just thank you

00:45:15.800 So much for making that

00:45:17.300 Happen because we can sit

00:45:18.260 Here and talk about this

00:45:19.100 Stuff all day long but if

00:45:20.580 Nobody listens or nobody

00:45:21.460 Reviews or nobody supports it 0.98

00:45:23.260 Doesn't fucking matter 0.94

00:45:23.980 Absolutely so you guys are 0.98

00:45:25.180 Lifeblood of what we do

00:45:26.400 Absolutely right you know

00:45:28.000 And that's not a tangent

00:45:29.060 We uh we definitely don't

00:45:30.480 Consider that getting off

00:45:31.440 Topic because that's very

00:45:32.420 Very very important to what

00:45:33.860 We do yeah I mean so it's

00:45:35.880 Humbling for sure man it's

00:45:37.320 Exciting too because I feel

00:45:38.460 Like we're making a

00:45:38.940 Difference you know like now

00:45:40.340 When I say we I don't mean

00:45:41.240 Like we in this room I mean

00:45:42.480 Everybody listening yeah like 0.99

00:45:43.860 We're making a fucking shift 0.98

00:45:45.280 You know I see people every 0.99

00:45:46.980 Day on social media getting

00:45:48.560 More and more and more tired

00:45:50.220 Of the politically correct 1.00

00:45:51.820 Ridiculous shit that everybody 1.00

00:45:53.820 Argus about you know we're 1.00

00:45:55.760 Not we're not letting the

00:45:57.040 Media turn against each other

00:45:59.540 And get us on different 1.00

00:46:00.540 Sides of irrelevant shit 0.99

00:46:01.800 Anymore right and I think 0.99

00:46:03.000 Society's changing I feel 0.98

00:46:04.340 Like we're turning we're

00:46:05.820 Sick we're all sick of it

00:46:07.180 Right you know so it's fun

00:46:08.480 To be a part of that yeah you

00:46:09.460 Know what I absolutely love

00:46:10.400 About our our sort of our

00:46:12.300 Listener base too at least

00:46:13.660 This is the case with me and

00:46:14.660 I'm pretty sure it's the case

00:46:15.480 With you guys too I have I

00:46:17.500 Have people that follow me and

00:46:19.160 Their their handle is like at

00:46:22.160 Jesus loves you 23 12 and

00:46:24.440 Then another one will be like

00:46:25.660 At squat to dominate 26 you

00:46:28.840 Know I mean it's just a very

00:46:30.180 Wide variety of people because

00:46:31.860 We're all tired of them yeah the

00:46:33.600 Stuff we're talking about like 0.99

00:46:35.240 This meeting shit that we're 0.99

00:46:36.580 Talking about right here all of 0.99

00:46:39.380 Us have sat through that stuff all

00:46:41.000 Of us know what it's like to

00:46:42.280 Have somebody make a comment at

00:46:45.040 Us towards us that discourages

00:46:46.500 Us or makes us upset like we

00:46:47.640 Talked about on the intro all of

00:46:49.360 Us know what it's like to have to

00:46:51.480 Build a culture if you run a

00:46:52.700 Business how hard that is

00:46:53.780 Everybody knows what it's like

00:46:55.440 To deal with someone who's 0.98

00:46:56.820 Offended by every little 0.99

00:46:57.840 Fucking thing and be like dude 1.00

00:46:59.520 What the fuck is your problem 1.00

00:47:00.560 You know what I mean we're all 1.00

00:47:02.100 Tired of that shit and that's 1.00

00:47:03.600 The point right we all stand for 1.00

00:47:05.220 The same things we all are

00:47:06.980 Pushing forward together and

00:47:08.060 It's exciting because I can see

00:47:09.400 It making an impact it's really

00:47:11.100 Really cool to be a part of so

00:47:12.220 Thank you guys so much for

00:47:14.900 Everything that you do but to

00:47:17.860 Bring it back on track and get

00:47:19.880 Back to the topic you know guys

00:47:21.560 There's a fine line this will be

00:47:23.300 Point number three of the

00:47:24.680 Meeting thing okay there's a

00:47:26.220 Fine line between a good

00:47:27.320 Healthy discussion of a

00:47:28.500 Business or a problem in a

00:47:30.240 Meeting and just a group 0.98

00:47:31.340 Gossip clusterfuck deal okay I 0.96

00:47:33.840 Be very careful before you open 0.98

00:47:35.340 Up a meeting and letting every

00:47:36.780 Single person have their two 0.96

00:47:37.980 Cents okay it's not it's not a

00:47:39.700 Group discussion it's not you

00:47:42.460 Know we're not here to like

00:47:43.900 Gossip or talk about the game

00:47:45.680 Last night come in have people

00:47:48.680 Pay attention make your points

00:47:49.900 Ask if they have any

00:47:50.740 Questions move on all right

00:47:52.700 There's got to be some

00:47:53.500 Control there and I see a lot

00:47:55.000 Of people just throw meetings

00:47:56.340 And and they want to make

00:47:57.960 Ensure everybody has their

00:47:59.720 Whole two cents and this and

00:48:01.380 That and then you end up what

00:48:02.300 You end up with is something

00:48:03.640 That never was intended to

00:48:05.000 Happen you never end up with

00:48:06.120 Something that provides a

00:48:07.500 Result you end up with this

00:48:08.520 Off-topic discussion about how

00:48:10.800 The water cooler should be

00:48:12.080 Filled every three days instead 0.99

00:48:13.160 Of every two days shit that's 0.99

00:48:14.680 Irrelevant okay it's not that 0.99

00:48:18.080 You don't value employees

00:48:19.300 Opinion because that's

00:48:20.080 Important but but the reality

00:48:22.780 Is is that the the problems

00:48:24.500 Are better shared through an

00:48:26.500 Email or a quick impromptu

00:48:28.300 Meeting or some other form or

00:48:29.840 Way than they are addressing

00:48:31.400 It with the whole group

00:48:32.200 Because if somebody has an

00:48:33.720 Idea it's important that you

00:48:35.240 Listen to that idea because

00:48:36.240 You don't want to devalue or

00:48:37.400 Demotivate that person even 0.98

00:48:38.940 If the idea is fucking terrible 0.97

00:48:41.260 They most people just want to 0.84

00:48:42.580 Be heard okay and those times

00:48:44.460 Are very good to educate

00:48:46.160 People they're very good to

00:48:47.160 Bring people on track with

00:48:48.600 What's going on but that

00:48:49.780 Shouldn't be done a meeting

00:48:50.980 Time with the whole group all

00:48:52.500 Right and too far too often I

00:48:54.320 See people trying to address

00:48:55.560 You know and give everybody

00:48:57.600 Their their input for and

00:48:59.180 Everybody has the floor for

00:49:00.620 30 minutes and you got to

00:49:01.880 Realize that when you have 12

00:49:02.960 People that might for 10 of

00:49:04.740 Those people that might be the

00:49:05.620 Most attention they ever get and

00:49:06.960 Boy do they use it that's

00:49:08.540 Exactly right you know what I

00:49:09.680 Mean yeah so you know we don't

00:49:12.900 Have this problem here at our

00:49:14.540 Company because like I said we

00:49:15.700 Keep it short we we we get to

00:49:17.620 The point we get some action 0.98

00:49:19.180 Steps and we move the fuck on 0.83

00:49:20.480 But in many companies getting 0.89

00:49:22.320 Feedback from people gives them

00:49:23.680 The impression that they're

00:49:24.480 Going to that that you're

00:49:25.620 Actually going to take their

00:49:26.480 Advice everybody's going to

00:49:27.580 List to them and then they get

00:49:28.780 Really upset okay when you

00:49:30.800 Don't so like let's say you

00:49:32.140 Give Joe from accounting the

00:49:33.760 Floor for 10 minutes and he

00:49:35.140 Get pours his heart out he goes

00:49:37.020 Home he says baby it was

00:49:39.160 Awesome I ran the I ran the

00:49:41.000 Meeting today everybody

00:49:41.840 Listen what I had to say

00:49:42.840 Blah blah blah and then he

00:49:43.720 Goes to work the next day and

00:49:45.280 It's not implemented and the

00:49:46.700 Boss says hey man you know I

00:49:49.300 Think that's a decent idea but

00:49:50.520 We used to do it that way

00:49:51.620 Before you were here and it

00:49:52.540 Didn't work and this is why

00:49:53.460 It didn't work then he goes

00:49:54.560 Home that next time he's like 1.00

00:49:55.420 Those motherfuckers made me 1.00

00:49:56.780 Look stupid because they let 1.00

00:49:57.900 Me say my idea in front of 1.00

00:49:58.960 Everybody and now I'm

00:50:00.320 Embarrassed right because that's

00:50:01.980 What it comes down to they say

00:50:03.000 Their idea in front of

00:50:03.800 Everybody you don't

00:50:05.060 Implement it so it's

00:50:05.960 Embarrassing so like guys

00:50:07.900 There's a time and a place

00:50:08.900 For everything and realize that

00:50:09.960 When you think you're doing

00:50:10.720 Somebody a favor in a

00:50:12.280 Meeting by giving them the

00:50:13.140 Floor for 20 minutes and

00:50:14.200 Letting them throw their idea

00:50:15.080 Out there how are they going

00:50:16.420 To feel when you don't put

00:50:17.200 It into play they're going to

00:50:18.940 Be embarrassed and they're 0.99

00:50:19.900 Going to fucking hate you for 0.99

00:50:21.000 It all right so you're doing 0.99

00:50:23.160 Them a favor by handling

00:50:24.300 Those kind of things

00:50:24.900 Privately bottom line is this

00:50:27.680 You're the leader along with

00:50:29.200 A few trusted advisors it's up

00:50:31.180 To you guys to make the tough

00:50:32.420 Critical decisions okay you put

00:50:33.920 Too much up for discussion and

00:50:35.660 Decision making by consensus

00:50:37.000 You're going to make everybody 1.00

00:50:38.440 Look stupid and you're going 1.00

00:50:39.600 To look stupid you're going to 1.00

00:50:40.960 Walk out of there with no 1.00

00:50:41.760 Clear vision no action steps

00:50:43.820 No agenda to prove and you're 0.91

00:50:46.080 Going to kill everybody's

00:50:47.080 Morale so it's up to you to 1.00

00:50:48.780 Come in run shit and get out 1.00

00:50:51.700 And make shit happen you know 1.00

00:50:53.420 What I mean you can't spend 0.99

00:50:54.420 Time after time after time just

00:50:56.900 Letting everybody have the run

00:50:58.100 Somebody has something that

00:50:59.140 They want to address they come

00:51:00.200 To your office or they call you

00:51:01.180 On the phone or they meet with

00:51:02.320 You personally and you handle it

00:51:03.940 That do you mind if I point a

00:51:05.460 Question toward Teresa go ahead

00:51:07.120 On that so I could very much

00:51:10.040 Be in danger of stereotyping here

00:51:13.020 But I'm going to ask you know

00:51:14.360 Women tend to be more 1.00

00:51:15.240 Relational than men so so some

00:51:17.100 Of their leadership style is a

00:51:18.260 Little different a little bit

00:51:19.280 More all-inclusive do you as a

00:51:21.600 Woman feel maybe a little bit 1.00

00:51:23.600 More of a of a pressure to to

00:51:25.960 Get everybody's feedback or do

00:51:28.300 You feel as if you know if you

00:51:29.580 Just you know set an agenda you

00:51:31.680 Power through it that you're 1.00

00:51:32.920 Going to get this sort of bitch 1.00

00:51:34.620 Label do you feel that or or and 1.00

00:51:36.580 Do you think that other women 0.99

00:51:37.480 Who are entrepreneurs out there

00:51:38.720 Feel that or I mean I can tell

00:51:40.240 You who I am is I know my

00:51:41.680 Strengths and my weaknesses so

00:51:43.120 There are times when I need to

00:51:44.880 Be that way and I'm not so I

00:51:46.760 Hire for that but I am more of

00:51:48.800 The like take charge come in get

00:51:51.120 You know I'm saying get to the

00:51:51.820 Point and to be honest I'd rather

00:51:53.120 Be taken seriously than have

00:51:54.320 People come and be like oh my

00:51:55.240 Gosh she's having another 0.99

00:51:55.880 Meeting so I just am naturally

00:51:58.020 That way I'm not I don't know

00:51:59.220 If I'm your stereotypical woman

00:52:00.260 Though I think I'm more inclined

00:52:01.920 Inclined to to manage like a

00:52:04.960 Male would I don't even know 0.99

00:52:05.800 If that's true these days you

00:52:06.760 Know I don't even think it's

00:52:07.580 About that I think it's about

00:52:08.900 This I don't think it has to do

00:52:09.940 With man or woman I I think 0.80

00:52:11.660 That you're what you're I think

00:52:12.640 The reason you're asking the

00:52:13.380 Question is because you know

00:52:14.580 Typically women are labeled more 1.00

00:52:16.620 Emotional and sensitive than men

00:52:18.620 But I don't even think that's the

00:52:19.800 Case because like we have more

00:52:21.400 Men than women and I'm gonna 0.90

00:52:22.620 Tell you right now the women 1.00

00:52:24.560 That we have kick fucking ass 1.00

00:52:25.840 They don't ask any questions 1.00

00:52:26.760 They go do shit and and dude 0.99

00:52:28.740 The guys I end up having to 1.00

00:52:29.860 Coddle are fucking they're the 0.99

00:52:30.940 Guys you know what I mean and 1.00

00:52:32.520 Yeah and dude it's because

00:52:33.800 Dude when you it's hard to say

00:52:39.420 This so I don't know if it's

00:52:40.300 Gonna come out right but when you

00:52:42.160 Like allow for that emotional

00:52:43.740 Aspect you start asking questions

00:52:45.560 Like are you emotionally okay do

00:52:47.320 You feel good you're gonna

00:52:48.520 Encourage that from your

00:52:49.660 Employees so what you're gonna

00:52:51.000 Do is is when you try to like

00:52:52.400 Overly make people comfortable

00:52:55.060 And make sure that their 0.98

00:52:56.120 Little asses weren't hurt and 1.00

00:52:58.140 You know let let sure they be 0.98

00:52:59.800 Hurt you're gonna like you're 0.97

00:53:01.860 Gonna create that mentality

00:53:03.380 Because they're gonna know that

00:53:04.780 They can like wind their way

00:53:06.560 Into your office or into your

00:53:08.980 Ear all right so it's important

00:53:10.880 That people realize in your 0.99

00:53:13.280 Company that this is a fucking 1.00

00:53:14.500 Business yes I care about you but 0.99

00:53:16.940 The way I care about you is this

00:53:18.460 That we're gonna go out we're 0.97

00:53:20.000 Gonna fucking win you're gonna 0.98

00:53:21.520 Get paid more than you get 0.99

00:53:22.580 Paid now you're gonna have more

00:53:24.080 Satisfaction than you have now

00:53:25.680 And if that means I'm not gonna

00:53:27.460 Listen to you pout about how you

00:53:29.420 Got in a fight with your

00:53:30.100 Girlfriend last night then good

00:53:31.520 Because that is not my role if

00:53:33.800 You have a problem with that go 1.00

00:53:35.020 To a fucking counselor and talk 1.00

00:53:36.780 To them because I love my 1.00

00:53:38.540 Employees I'll fucking do 0.80

00:53:39.640 Anything for them but my 0.81

00:53:40.940 Responsibility is to make sure

00:53:42.180 This company grows so that they 0.99

00:53:43.940 Have better fucking lives so they 0.99

00:53:46.080 Have more options so they can 1.00

00:53:47.940 Give more charity if they choose

00:53:49.460 They could drive a better car they

00:53:51.260 Can buy a better house they can

00:53:53.660 Have more fulfillment their lives 0.99

00:53:55.240 Can fucking be better and that's 0.98

00:53:57.540 The responsibility you have so 0.99

00:53:59.040 When you start catering to all

00:54:00.860 These emotional needs and all

00:54:02.260 This stuff and like you've got

00:54:03.780 25 HR people and one for each 0.98

00:54:05.800 Person and all this bullshit dude 0.99

00:54:08.480 You are focused on the wrong 1.00

00:54:09.680 Shit period and I know people are 0.99

00:54:12.100 Gonna blast me for that I don't 1.00

00:54:13.260 Give a fuck because it's the 0.99

00:54:14.440 Truth I'm not here to pamper your 1.00

00:54:16.360 Ass I'm here to get you a result 1.00

00:54:18.320 In a certain area of your life and 1.00

00:54:20.020 That's what we're gonna fucking 0.97

00:54:20.820 Do bottom line so if you don't 1.00

00:54:23.780 Want the emotional you know bitch 1.00

00:54:26.180 Wine cry fest don't fucking 1.00

00:54:28.300 Entertain it yeah I don't I will 0.99

00:54:31.200 Flat out tell somebody when I'm

00:54:34.100 Fighting with my girlfriend that's 0.99

00:54:35.540 Not my fucking responsibility your 1.00

00:54:37.480 Responsibility is leave that shit 1.00

00:54:38.740 At home and come here and fucking 1.00

00:54:39.920 Perform period and you know you'll 0.99

00:54:42.820 Read all these articles you read

00:54:44.680 Know these articles now that say

00:54:45.820 Yeah but companies that care about

00:54:48.600 Their employees win and companies

00:54:50.540 That provide these services for

00:54:52.280 Their employees win blah blah blah

00:54:54.400 Blah blah blah and all this feel

00:54:55.660 Good nonsense that's not reality 0.99

00:54:57.920 That's bullshit okay so one of the 0.99

00:55:00.720 Things that I just wanted to mention 0.98

00:55:01.840 Though to make a distinction here is

00:55:03.140 I think that the over sensitivity

00:55:04.940 Is is so great that it actually makes

00:55:08.240 It difficult to to really be

00:55:10.360 Sensitive to your employees when they

00:55:12.060 When they really need it so like if

00:55:14.080 They have a death in the family or

00:55:15.800 If you know their wife cheats on

00:55:17.440 Them or something let me stop there

00:55:18.520 Yeah because what I just said

00:55:20.460 There's exceptions to no question I

00:55:23.360 Mean there's been situations guys

00:55:24.860 Where in our company where people

00:55:27.900 Have really needed us to step in on

00:55:29.700 Their personal lives and we have and

00:55:31.280 If you ask any of my employees you'll

00:55:32.660 Know that's the truth there's been

00:55:33.800 Times where times have been tough

00:55:35.540 And we stepped in and helped them

00:55:36.760 There there's times when our own

00:55:39.100 Employees have stepped in and help

00:55:40.440 Them dude let me tell you a cool

00:55:41.460 Story I had an employee one time he's

00:55:43.360 No longer with us but he's still a

00:55:44.640 Good guy and I like him a lot he

00:55:46.120 Moved on with he moved on to another

00:55:47.500 Company and he's doing he's doing

00:55:49.640 Well he's doing his own thing but he

00:55:51.240 Was struggling okay he was taking a

00:55:52.860 Cat this guy had a car he had a an

00:55:55.960 Old pickup truck okay and he was

00:55:57.780 Driving it from about 30 miles from

00:56:00.480 From where he lived to where he

00:56:02.900 Worked all right the truck broke down

00:56:05.700 He didn't tell anybody and he started

00:56:07.240 Taking a cab to work 30 miles each

00:56:09.600 Way okay now this guy was entry level

00:56:12.840 Position for us okay which is not a

00:56:14.840 Lot of money so he was spending his

00:56:16.820 Entire paycheck entire paycheck to

00:56:20.220 Take this cab to work nobody knew he

00:56:22.700 Didn't bitch about it or anything he 1.00

00:56:24.180 Showed up at a cab one day our

00:56:26.020 Employees noticed it brought it to us

00:56:28.860 And I said okay guys and we just

00:56:30.980 Happen to have a contest going on there

00:56:32.420 Where all the managers were getting

00:56:34.220 We're getting a multi-thousand dollar

00:56:36.960 Bonus okay if we perform and we were

00:56:39.780 About to hit that and I said all right

00:56:40.860 Guys look here's the deal we can do

00:56:44.300 Something about this you if you guys

00:56:46.420 All want to pitch in I'll pitch in an

00:56:48.920 Equal amount match it and we'll buy him

00:56:50.740 A car and dude all of our guys this is

00:56:52.940 The kind of culture we have all of our

00:56:54.200 Guys gave up their personal bonuses to

00:56:56.800 Buy this guy a car and we matched it me

00:56:59.260 And Chris matched it we bought him a jeep

00:57:01.540 Cherokee and he was but do the point

00:57:03.860 Of what I'm trying to get at here is

00:57:05.340 That we come through and it's important

00:57:08.360 As you as a leader to recognize when

00:57:11.260 There is a real situation because when

00:57:13.820 You start Vaughn that's an excellent

00:57:15.460 Point I'm so glad you brought that up

00:57:16.880 Because otherwise people are gonna be 0.99

00:57:18.020 Like god this guy's a fucking ruthless 1.00

00:57:19.680 Motherfucker and I am to a point but I 1.00

00:57:22.980 Ultimately really care about our 0.99

00:57:24.940 Employees and you should too and that's 0.99

00:57:26.720 Why you have to keep these bullshit 0.99

00:57:28.840 Situations out of your ear so that 0.99

00:57:30.540 Whenever there is a real situation

00:57:31.800 You know that it's there and you can

00:57:33.940 Do something about it because that is

00:57:35.180 Your responsibility I mean you've got

00:57:36.740 These people's livelihoods in your

00:57:38.220 Hand if you want a culture of people

00:57:40.240 That are going to do anything for you

00:57:41.500 And have your back you got to have

00:57:42.580 Their back too but you don't do that 0.99

00:57:44.840 By making it an emotional fucking 0.99

00:57:48.280 Kumbaya meeting you know what I'm 0.99

00:57:50.000 Saying right so that I mean that's a

00:57:51.800 Great point for sure I mean that's

00:57:53.440 We're getting I knew yeah absolutely and

00:57:55.180 I knew that that's how thanks for

00:57:56.340 Saving me because I was about to look like 0.99

00:57:57.480 A huge asshole no no no no I mean I but 0.98

00:57:59.600 The point again just to restate it a 1.00

00:58:02.280 Different way is that when everything

00:58:04.140 Is a major crisis it it distracts you

00:58:07.880 From when things really are a major

00:58:09.840 Crisis it's like the boy who cried

00:58:11.060 Wolf yeah exactly that's exactly what it

00:58:13.420 Is and I knew that you didn't feel that

00:58:14.940 Way about it so I want to make sure that

00:58:16.720 We yeah but that's why we don't allow

00:58:17.980 The everybody hold hands and express 0.95

00:58:20.660 Their feeling shit here right it's not 0.94

00:58:22.240 You know it's not the place right it's 0.96

00:58:24.860 Not so guys I'm gonna wrap this up

00:58:27.440 Because we're getting long-winded and

00:58:29.740 I think we made our point here you know

00:58:31.180 You have to be ruthless and cutting 0.98

00:58:34.480 Down the unnecessary bullshit on what's 0.98

00:58:37.000 The agenda in a huge way okay meetings 0.98

00:58:39.300 Aren't as much about information as

00:58:41.520 They're about formation meetings aren't

00:58:43.360 About covering your to-do lists as much

00:58:45.940 As developing your team all right so

00:58:47.720 You have to reinforce your core values

00:58:49.320 You have to create company culture and

00:58:51.540 You have to inspire action every single

00:58:54.560 Time this is about getting guys off the

00:58:56.920 Off the playing court all right you

00:58:58.880 Know we blow the whistle we have a

00:58:59.860 Timeout hey guys come here we gotta do

00:59:01.580 This this this go out and do it and that

00:59:03.660 Should be it it should be that quick and

00:59:05.720 You know some some other things that

00:59:08.300 You can do about increasing the

00:59:11.460 Effectiveness of your meeting and

00:59:12.700 Increasing the power of your meeting

00:59:14.840 You know I mean this is what I like to

00:59:18.940 Do you know a motivational thought or

00:59:21.680 Speech of some kind I'm naturally

00:59:23.280 Inclined to do those kind of things not

00:59:24.880 Everybody is so if you're not a 1.00

00:59:26.960 Natural motivator if you don't have

00:59:28.400 The energy to motivate and you're not

00:59:30.200 That kind of person you can find other

00:59:31.580 Ways to inspire people maybe you maybe

00:59:33.600 You read them a story maybe you find a

00:59:36.320 News clipping and you tell the story

00:59:37.820 And then relate it to something that's

00:59:39.820 Going on you don't have to be this

00:59:41.120 Fiery crazy emotional dude to motivate

00:59:44.360 People or you can hire Ben huh yeah

00:59:46.440 Exactly hire Ben to come in and train

00:59:48.040 How to speak I mean that's or speak I

00:59:51.140 Mean the thing is guys is that there's

00:59:53.100 There's a lot of things that you can

00:59:54.740 Do to help improve the the action that

00:59:57.280 You're that you're that your company has

01:00:00.500 You know maybe you tell them a story

01:00:03.120 That reinforces only one of your core

01:00:05.420 Values and you start the meeting off

01:00:07.060 With that and then you go into your

01:00:08.480 Action points all right you celebrate

01:00:11.400 And recognize a quick success you know 0.98

01:00:13.220 Somebody who did something that kicks ass 0.95

01:00:15.140 You can say hey look this guy did that 0.98

01:00:17.400 Good job man that's the way to do it

01:00:19.600 And do that guy walks out of your

01:00:21.140 Meeting on cloud nine and you're 10

01:00:22.540 Other guys in the meeting walk out say

01:00:23.820 Man that was pretty cool I'm gonna try

01:00:25.540 To do that too you know giving them

01:00:27.960 Example giving them a quick tip on

01:00:30.300 Something that they can apply today

01:00:31.840 Into their jobs a sales technique or how

01:00:35.220 To send a certain kind of email or how

01:00:37.020 To contact a certain kind of person there's

01:00:39.740 All kinds of things but at the bottom at

01:00:41.720 The end of the day you have to remember

01:00:42.860 You have to value their time you have

01:00:45.780 To provide value just like we talk in

01:00:47.660 Products just like we talk in service

01:00:49.220 Just like we talk in in any sort of

01:00:51.420 Business for the time that they spend in

01:00:53.380 The meeting just because you're writing

01:00:54.920 The paycheck doesn't mean that your job

01:00:57.780 Is just to come in and not create value

01:01:00.260 If you're not creating value you're

01:01:01.780 Going to water down your customer you're

01:01:03.380 Going to create the woman who says she's 1.00

01:01:04.980 Dying inside an elevator like we talked

01:01:06.720 About a minute ago you just don't want

01:01:09.900 To leave these guys bored or mentally

01:01:12.160 Exhausted or wishing they were somewhere

01:01:13.900 Else you want to leave them energized you

01:01:15.400 Want to leave them motivated and you know

01:01:17.400 We we told a story last time about our

01:01:19.860 Kill kill kill chant and that's that's

01:01:21.540 How we get our stuff done you know we're

01:01:23.480 An unorthodox place to work there's no

01:01:25.500 Question about it but we end our meeting

01:01:27.340 With a chant dude everybody puts in their 0.95

01:01:28.800 Hands and we do a kill kill kill we get 1.00

01:01:30.620 Out and fucking dominate you know and 1.00

01:01:32.540 That's just like if we were on a sports 0.99

01:01:34.480 Team I mean it's no different the battle

01:01:36.740 Cry that we teach the sports teams

01:01:38.220 Whether it's collegiate champions high

01:01:39.820 School champions guys who are you guys

01:01:41.880 Are watching on Sundays in the NFL it's

01:01:43.580 Max effort pays off it's a simple

01:01:45.820 Statement when we say max effort pays

01:01:47.760 Off it focuses you on going to work

01:01:49.920 Nothing else right go to work right

01:01:52.140 That's the most important thing you put

01:01:53.720 Your max max effort in it's gonna pay

01:01:56.120 Off long-term there's no question I

01:01:58.280 Mean here it is guys quit worrying about

01:02:01.660 The doughnuts quit worrying about what

01:02:03.140 Clothes you wear to work quit worrying 1.00

01:02:04.720 About what fucking orange juice supplier 1.00

01:02:06.700 You have quit worrying about when the 1.00

01:02:07.940 Water coolers refill quit worrying about

01:02:09.660 Your expense reports and the TPS reports 0.99

01:02:12.360 You guys know what the fuck I'm 0.98

01:02:13.700 Talking about here all right stop 1.00

01:02:15.580 Worrying about that shit get to the 1.00

01:02:17.580 Fucking point and bring the fucking 1.00

01:02:19.420 Fire that's it get people refocused get 1.00

01:02:22.920 Them out the door and let them go let 0.93

01:02:24.940 Them go do their jobs you know give them 1.00

01:02:26.780 A purpose get them out let's go kill you 1.00

01:02:29.500 Know that's that's the point all right 1.00

01:02:31.060 You cannot let meetings go on and on and

01:02:34.580 On and on and and just kill the inside

01:02:38.560 Of your employees it's just terrible 1.00

01:02:40.200 Terrible terrible for your culture and if 0.74

01:02:42.960 You're doing this stop right now before

01:02:45.460 You have another meeting listen to this

01:02:47.260 Podcast 17 times 70 times 700 times until

01:02:52.340 You figure out how to implement the

01:02:53.760 Strategy and you will see production

01:02:55.720 Increase you will see enthusiasm

01:02:58.040 Increase you will see motivation increase

01:03:00.040 And you will see your business's bottom

01:03:02.060 Line increase all because you're

01:03:04.240 Changing the way you handle yourself in

01:03:05.680 A meeting so a question I have to ask

01:03:07.800 Though is that you mentioned about you

01:03:09.300 Know taking some time doing some

01:03:10.680 Motivational speech or some some

01:03:12.440 Motivational thought and I know you

01:03:14.400 Did offer some qualifications there you

01:03:16.220 Said that's what you like to do and

01:03:17.540 That's not for everybody but you know

01:03:19.620 We've all heard the stories of somebody

01:03:22.360 Who said oh yeah my boss was trying to be

01:03:24.420 Abraham Lincoln or Winston Churchill the

01:03:26.080 Other day trying to rally the troops and

01:03:28.000 With some guys who really mean well it

01:03:31.340 Just falls flat why doesn't it work for

01:03:34.600 Some people I think you need to check

01:03:36.780 Your ego at the door it's the leader who

01:03:38.340 Comes in who tries to tries to to fake it

01:03:41.700 Or to be Abraham Lincoln instead of just

01:03:43.720 Saying you know what guys sometimes I

01:03:45.340 Need to go find fire you know me I'm not

01:03:47.680 A fiery guy so here's some fire that I

01:03:50.040 Found for you and I think when a leader

01:03:51.880 Can check their ego on places where

01:03:53.720 They're weak and deliver something of

01:03:55.520 Value it makes a big big difference no

01:03:58.260 Question and like you know when I think

01:04:00.020 Of when you say that when you're

01:04:01.760 Watching football okay and I know you

01:04:03.520 Watch football and I know you watch

01:04:04.760 Football I don't know if you watch

01:04:06.380 Football do you watch it yeah with a

01:04:09.340 Donut with a long john glazed donut so

01:04:11.520 So here's the thing like how annoying is

01:04:15.400 It when you have a broadcaster and and

01:04:17.820 They run you already know what I'm gonna

01:04:19.100 Say he's been shaking his hand the

01:04:21.480 Brock the running back gets the ball

01:04:23.260 He runs two yards he's like oh he's

01:04:25.080 Going all the way every single play like

01:04:27.320 He's trying to make the most perfect 0.99

01:04:28.760 Call every fucking play of the game it's 0.99

01:04:31.740 The most annoying thing to watch a game 1.00

01:04:33.780 When an announcer does that do you know

01:04:35.180 What I'm saying absolutely okay you

01:04:36.660 Recognize it right you recognize it

01:04:38.540 Right all right well your employees

01:04:40.000 Recognize when you come in and try to 1.00

01:04:41.480 Do that same shit all right when you 1.00

01:04:43.000 Come in and try to make today the dude 1.00

01:04:45.320 When you bring the fire itch is

01:04:46.560 Natural man so you have to be self

01:04:48.620 Aware enough to know like hey that's

01:04:51.280 Not my specialty and if you want to go

01:04:53.360 Out and work on it that doesn't mean

01:04:54.640 You can't get great at it but don't

01:04:56.500 Come in every day trying to set 1.00

01:04:57.660 Records for fucking applause or 1.00

01:04:59.220 Autographs or whatever it is you think 1.00

01:05:01.040 You're trying to get come in with the 0.77

01:05:02.740 Wet with the message if you know if

01:05:04.220 You're not feeling that day don't do

01:05:05.580 It that day I think that's an

01:05:06.560 Important thing when you talk about

01:05:07.600 Motivational speaking I don't jump on

01:05:10.300 Periscope or write something 0.99

01:05:11.560 Motivational or do motivational shit 0.97

01:05:13.280 When I'm not feeling it I just don't 0.99

01:05:15.040 Because you know what I produce junk

01:05:16.760 When I'm feeling like that like if I

01:05:19.040 Come into a meeting and I'm feeling

01:05:20.020 That way I tell a story about someone

01:05:21.460 Else or I bring up something someone

01:05:23.380 Else did you know you don't have to

01:05:25.240 Wear that hat 24 hours a day you know

01:05:28.740 What I'm saying I call it I call it

01:05:30.120 Real-time fire for those of you that

01:05:31.600 Follow me on Periscope I'll typically

01:05:33.160 Title it real-time fire with a point and

01:05:35.480 You do the same thing when you're

01:05:36.560 Feeling it you get on Periscope and

01:05:37.880 You share something that's actually

01:05:39.200 Real right because that's what people

01:05:40.680 Feel right and that's why I'm not

01:05:42.260 On at scheduled times you know I come

01:05:44.060 On when I'm feeling it because I know 0.99

01:05:45.300 That's when the good shit comes and the 0.99

01:05:46.940 Same thing is when you're meeting you 1.00

01:05:48.140 Know if you're a naturally fire

01:05:49.820 Intense emotional person like I am

01:05:52.160 Dude I'm I can come in and and

01:05:54.880 Transform myself into that person

01:05:56.660 Pretty quick because it's my natural

01:05:58.760 It's my natural inclination to be that

01:06:00.440 Way all right if you're not that way

01:06:02.900 It's okay just don't come in and try

01:06:04.520 To be that you're gonna embarrass

01:06:05.640 Yourself and your employees aren't

01:06:06.720 Gonna respect you you know I mean come

01:06:08.480 In and be who you are and say like

01:06:10.680 What Ben said hey man you guys know

01:06:12.100 It's not my it's not my nature to get

01:06:14.740 All fiery and emotional and crazy but

01:06:16.280 Look I thought this was awesome and

01:06:17.920 Tell the story or show them the story

01:06:19.460 Or bring it up you know and that's

01:06:21.900 How you can you can get into that

01:06:23.320 Aspect yeah I'm saying I absolutely

01:06:25.140 Love what you said about that leaders

01:06:27.400 Excuse me meetings are not as much

01:06:30.020 About information as they are about

01:06:32.000 Formation the development of your of

01:06:34.340 Your team the building of your culture

01:06:36.680 And I love what Will Compton said you

01:06:38.960 Know several episodes back that

01:06:41.460 Leadership involves the transfer of

01:06:43.380 Passion I've been reading a lot of

01:06:45.240 Books lately it's a great it's a

01:06:47.160 Great statement and I've been

01:06:48.400 Reading a lot of books lately about

01:06:49.980 How human beings are connected and

01:06:52.540 There's a there's a great book by

01:06:54.120 David Brooks New York Times best

01:06:56.040 Selling author who wrote a book

01:06:56.980 Called the social animal there's a

01:06:58.480 Couple other books and they all say

01:07:00.060 The same thing they say everything

01:07:01.700 About us is contagious we are wired to

01:07:06.220 Communicate who we are to somebody

01:07:08.100 Else so these meetings that you're

01:07:10.060 You're talking about having it's not

01:07:12.500 Just about oh guys we're going to

01:07:14.080 Cover agenda point ABC it's this is

01:07:17.240 Who I am this is my vision this is my

01:07:19.740 Enthusiasm this is my passion for this

01:07:21.940 Company and the culture that I want to

01:07:23.660 Create and now through this meeting I'm

01:07:26.200 Transferring it to you and the funny

01:07:28.700 Thing is sorry I was taking a rig of

01:07:29.700 Water the funny thing is about that is

01:07:32.020 That when you do that in an authentic

01:07:33.920 Fashion that it doesn't you don't have

01:07:36.260 To be emotional and fiery to inspire

01:07:37.980 People you know what I mean people

01:07:39.580 Will respect you and and that gets

01:07:41.540 People they say man this dude really

01:07:43.220 Cares about what we got going on let's 1.00

01:07:45.080 Get out and do this shit you know what 1.00

01:07:46.580 I mean they don't it doesn't have to 1.00

01:07:48.220 Be because a lot of people man a lot of

01:07:50.280 People I get asked this a lot as well

01:07:52.240 Like how do you get your mentality

01:07:53.720 Right or how do you get your energy or

01:07:55.360 How do you get man I can't answer

01:07:57.580 That because that's my natural

01:07:59.240 Inclination is to be that way like I'm 1.00

01:08:01.060 High strung I'm intense I go fucking 0.99

01:08:03.540 Crazy and sometimes that's not a good 0.97

01:08:05.580 Thing you know it's taking me a long

01:08:07.160 Time to harness that in but if that's

01:08:10.200 Not you that's okay because most

01:08:11.680 Leaders aren't that way most leaders

01:08:13.180 Just understand how to utilize their

01:08:15.220 Skills that they have you know and

01:08:16.900 That's the bottom line guys but if you

01:08:18.660 Implement this strategy whether you're

01:08:20.340 You know what we've talked about in

01:08:21.840 This podcast whether you're you know

01:08:23.400 Tony Robbins or whether you're the

01:08:25.620 Dude from office space asking for his

01:08:27.240 TPS reports you know what I mean the 1.00

01:08:29.940 Point is is that you could get shit 0.93

01:08:31.340 Done by doing this and that's that's 0.98

01:08:32.980 What we want to get across to you

01:08:34.460 Guys how to create a productive

01:08:36.300 Environment that actually fires up your

01:08:38.440 Team because the process is done the

01:08:40.540 Right way can I capture an action

01:08:42.300 Step absolutely so you know I think

01:08:44.460 What Andy's really getting at is the

01:08:46.300 Fact that you know it's challenging to

01:08:48.040 Change sometimes but why wouldn't you

01:08:49.620 Try it right I mean if you feel like

01:08:51.780 People have those emoji faces and

01:08:53.620 You're looking out why wouldn't you

01:08:55.480 Try a 10-minute meeting try a 10-minute

01:08:58.020 Meeting and see what happens the

01:08:59.680 Efficiency will change people's energy

01:09:01.980 Will change and I have seen this work

01:09:03.640 With so many different companies I

01:09:05.620 Agree a thousand percent Vaughn we're

01:09:07.560 Going to wrap it up so I'm just going

01:09:08.540 To take that as your final thought

01:09:09.760 Final thought yeah just the final

01:09:11.740 Thought is that it's always better to

01:09:13.080 Leave people wanting more than to

01:09:14.760 Overdo it so so cover what little you

01:09:17.040 Need to cover get people fired up and

01:09:19.660 Just trust that you guys know what to

01:09:21.080 Do and that they can cover other things

01:09:23.080 Through email and through you know one

01:09:25.180 On one meetings final thought Teresa

01:09:27.620 I think the takeaway from this is

01:09:30.740 Really like you said just valuing

01:09:31.840 People's time and you're going to see

01:09:33.380 The respect they have for you

01:09:35.100 Increase just exponentially just from

01:09:36.940 That one little act right you you you

01:09:39.480 All those things are good points you

01:09:41.180 Know guys look we're trying to show

01:09:45.560 You how to be more productive and get

01:09:46.880 More out of your time and also be more

01:09:48.680 Effective okay being busy at work does

01:09:51.880 Not mean you're working pretending to

01:09:53.480 Work is not being working you know

01:09:55.680 People say oh I worked seven 72

01:09:57.680 Hours in 24 hour period no if you did 1.00

01:10:01.000 That you're either dumb or you don't 1.00

01:10:02.980 Know what the fuck you're doing all 1.00

01:10:04.300 Right so get you get out of your mind 1.00

01:10:06.980 Quit worrying about the donuts quit

01:10:08.300 Worrying about the orange juice you know 1.00

01:10:09.820 We talk quit worrying about shit that 1.00

01:10:11.560 Doesn't matter focus on the shit that 1.00

01:10:13.000 Matters and execute and that's how 0.99

01:10:14.980 You're going to move forward and that's

01:10:16.300 The point and you and if you have

01:10:17.560 People that you have to talk to for an

01:10:18.860 Hour to get them to go out and

01:10:20.160 Execute you've instilled the wrong 0.96

01:10:21.260 Culture or you have the wrong people

01:10:22.460 Keep it short keep it simple bring the 1.00

01:10:24.980 Fucking fire and get them out of the 1.00

01:10:26.660 Door so we can kick ass that's the 1.00

01:10:28.540 Point all right and this is the 1.00

01:10:30.560 Motherfucking CEO 1.00
