00:01:32.920 in which we look back at some of the very best commentaries of the week by your favorite Rebels.
00:01:37.920 I'm your host, David Menzies.
00:01:40.940 We try to back the blue here, we really do, but the actions of some police officers
00:01:46.240 regarding the Wuhan virus pandemic has been, well, atrocious.
00:01:51.520 And Kian Bexte joins me to discuss a disturbing story regarding Calgary police
00:01:57.280 harassing newly landed immigrants for, well, really no reason whatsoever. 0.97
00:02:03.160 And Sheila Gunn-Reed shall be joining me as well discussing the ongoing harassment
00:02:08.360 the owner of an archery shop is receiving from nitpicking bylaw officers.
00:02:14.880 His crime? He simply just wants to make a living.
00:02:18.620 And letters, we get your letters, we get them every minute of every day.
00:02:21.960 And you had plenty to say about my latest visit to the Toronto Radisson Hotel
00:02:26.700 that is apparently illegally detaining people against their will.
00:02:31.180 Well, the good news, at least Toronto police didn't charge me with trespassing this time around.
00:02:37.860 Those are your Rebels, now let's round them up.
00:02:45.340 Kian Bexte for Rebel News in Calgary, Alberta, with a story that you're not going to believe.
00:02:50.200 Well, actually you might because it involves the Calgary Police Service.
00:02:53.940 They are the kind of police officers that beat their dogs and threaten to tase kids
00:02:58.000 while they're skating on a hockey rink.
00:03:00.220 And now they are threatening immigrant men and women,
00:03:03.540 asking them to take off their clothes in the middle of the night in back alleys
00:03:07.580 when it's minus 30 degrees outside, if you can believe it.
00:03:11.520 There was an immigrant support group that was taking place at a residence in Calgary.
00:03:15.920 There was a new family from Poland that was meeting with another immigrant family from Poland.
00:03:21.340 One side of them was Canadian citizens, the other permanent residents.
00:03:24.520 And they were sort of figuring stuff out.
00:03:26.400 This is totally legal.
00:03:27.840 This is allowed.
00:03:28.760 It's actually an exemption under the Alberta rules.
00:03:31.520 Now, when the police came, very late at night, they started banging on the windows.
00:03:36.060 They started yelling and shouting, telling these Polish people that they must immediately comply.
00:03:41.760 The Polish people, obviously, hardly speaking English, didn't know what was going on.
00:03:45.680 So they started banging on the door very hard.
00:03:49.240 And we didn't feel like opening a door because we were scared of the noise.
00:03:57.600 We didn't expect anyone else in the house.
00:04:00.360 And then they kept banging, kept banging on the walls, on the windows, on the door.
00:04:09.100 And then started sending me text messages from a private number.
00:04:12.960 All they knew was that people were banging on their door in the middle of the night.
00:04:16.740 Pretty horrifying, isn't it?
00:04:18.540 So one of the Polish couples left the house.
00:04:21.160 They went out the back door to leave.
00:04:22.940 And the police, well, they nabbed them right there and started demanding that they de-robe, take off their jackets.
00:04:28.420 They wanted to identify exactly who these people were.
00:04:31.480 It's pretty horrifying stuff.
00:04:33.220 Of course, tickets were issued to those people who left.
00:04:35.500 But the people inside the house, well, they just kept not complying.
00:04:39.520 And when they were talking to us, they surround us.
00:04:42.620 And they said, basically, you need to take off your clothes.
00:04:46.840 I just want to see what t-shirt you're wearing.
00:04:48.840 For the whole week, they were texting them from a private number, threatening messages.
00:04:53.920 You can see them right here.
00:04:55.560 It's pretty horrifying stuff, but it didn't stop there.
00:04:58.360 The police officers started calling the employers of these Polish immigrants, asking for a location.
00:05:04.480 Of course, the employers were kind of scared, wondering why their employee was involved with the law.
00:05:09.700 A couple of days after they actually called my employer, my wife's employer,
00:05:13.140 At that point, I thought, okay, that's getting a little bit hot here.
00:05:19.640 And so I contacted Rebel News.
00:05:21.800 These are immigrant men and women.
00:05:23.400 They hardly speak English.
00:05:24.980 And the police have resorted to harassing them and embarrassing them in front of their only source of income.
00:05:30.940 For what?
00:05:31.860 Because they're too proud to admit that they were wrong?
00:05:34.480 And it didn't just stop there.
00:05:35.600 Of course.
00:05:36.300 Instead of just harassing the man's employer, they called the wife's employer.
00:05:41.600 Over and over again, they harassed them in different ways, intimidated them in different ways.
00:05:46.720 And it all came to a head when they reached out to me to explain what was going on.
00:05:50.820 They shared me the text messages.
00:05:52.540 And just at that point, I couldn't believe what I was reading.
00:05:55.560 I couldn't believe that the officers of my city were acting in this way to an immigrant family.
00:06:01.040 It was unbelievable to me.
00:06:02.540 Well, it's all coming to a head right now.
00:06:03.840 It's 8 in the morning, and I'm standing outside of their house.
00:06:06.980 The police have arranged through our lawyers, which we've provided,
00:06:10.000 that they are going to meet up at 8 a.m. here so that they can serve a ticket
00:06:14.460 that they believe this immigrant family deserves for organizing a support group in their home,
00:06:18.800 which, by the way, is totally legal.
00:06:21.840 Hi there. How are you today?
00:06:23.020 I'm here. Are you Ted?
00:06:24.200 No. No, I'm not.
00:06:25.320 I'm here doing a story on what you're doing.
00:06:27.380 I'm curious. Are you the officer that was here that night?
00:06:29.620 Yeah. So you're going to hang tight because we're not here to do your stuff.
00:06:32.100 We're here to talk to them.
00:06:32.800 Yeah, I'm sure you are, and I'm here to talk to you.
00:06:36.440 Great. So I'm going to let you know once.
00:06:37.780 Sure.
00:06:38.080 If you don't back off and let us serve the tickets that we're here to serve,
00:06:40.840 you're going to have a problem.
00:06:41.980 No, I'm not going to have a problem because I'm actually media.
00:06:44.300 I'm a journalist.
00:06:45.920 You don't have to obstruct what we're doing.
00:06:46.520 I'm not obstructing you.
00:06:47.560 If you want to chat, if you want to chat, if you want to chat.
00:06:48.400 Right on camera, you could walk right there.
00:06:50.300 Okay.
00:06:50.780 You could walk up there if you'd like, and I'm going to follow you
00:06:53.120 so that I can document what you're doing.
00:06:55.700 Are you the officer that asked one of these immigrant men to take off their jacket in minus 30 weather
00:07:00.940 so that you could, like, look at the clothes that he was wearing underneath the jacket?
00:07:04.740 Was that you?
00:07:07.600 Was that you?
00:07:09.160 I'll ask you once more to back up.
00:07:10.820 Was that you?
00:07:11.400 Back up.
00:07:12.480 Off the steps.
00:07:13.280 No, I'm allowed to be on this property.
00:07:15.720 You are not allowed to obstruct us.
00:07:17.160 I'm not obstructing you.
00:07:18.340 I'm not obstructing you.
00:07:19.140 You're in front of the door.
00:07:20.280 You're in front of the room right now would be obstructing that.
00:07:21.900 I'm not intervening.
00:07:23.280 Interview.
00:07:24.480 Interviewing is obstructing you?
00:07:25.800 While we're trying to serve a ticket?
00:07:27.160 Absolutely.
00:07:27.660 I'll keep asking you questions if you don't mind.
00:07:29.740 I do mind.
00:07:30.520 Well, I don't mind, actually, so.
00:07:37.780 Is it you that's been texting these people?
00:07:41.220 Do you find that a little bit unprofessional?
00:07:42.840 Is it common for you to text people, threatening them, shining flashlights in their window,
00:07:48.320 like they're some sort of rats that need to be dealt with?
00:07:53.240 Intimidating the wife's employer? 0.86
00:07:55.940 Was that you that called the wife's employer?
00:07:59.380 Well, there you have it, folks.
00:08:01.000 Thanks to the efforts of Calgary's Finest,
00:08:03.840 obviously all serious crimes such as murder and sexual assault and robbery
00:08:08.820 have been eliminated in Cowtown,
00:08:11.000 and that means Calgary police officers,
00:08:14.160 well, they have to find something to do in the meantime,
00:08:19.020 like pulling out their tasers on a kid skating at a park,
00:08:24.300 or, as you just saw, harassing.
00:08:27.020 Yes, harassing, because there's no other word for it.
00:08:29.920 Some recent immigrants to Canada for the egregious crime of, 1.00
00:08:33.940 well, actually, what crime was committed?
00:08:36.900 And joining me now to discuss this is none other than Kian Bextie himself.
00:08:42.620 So, Kian, so many angles to pursue here, 0.99
00:08:46.660 but as I alluded to in the introduction,
00:08:49.960 I'm having a hell of a time here figuring out
00:08:52.820 what crime was being committed here in the first place.
00:08:57.180 What gives?
00:08:58.640 Yeah, that's a great question, David.
00:09:00.300 The police showed up at these folks' home very late at night.
00:09:04.760 They were having a support group meeting,
00:09:07.360 which is something that's allowed in Alberta.
00:09:09.560 It's an immigrant support group.
00:09:11.360 There's, you know, there's support groups for everything
00:09:12.760 from dealing with addiction to coming to a new country,
00:09:16.140 and these people were dealing with that.
00:09:18.440 And the police, they weren't too happy about that,
00:09:20.700 and they surrounded the property.
00:09:22.640 Sean flashlights in the building,
00:09:24.940 screamed and yelled at these people,
00:09:26.960 demanding they come out of their home.
00:09:28.680 And, of course, these immigrants, they were terrified.
00:09:30.860 They grew up in communist Poland.
00:09:33.080 They know what the police can do and what they're capable of.
00:09:37.360 And showing up late at night is something that they actually fled Poland for.
00:09:42.300 Well, I suppose that's not going on in Poland right now,
00:09:44.980 but they know what's going on, and they're scared of it.
00:09:48.900 So, naturally, they stayed inside.
00:09:50.960 They weren't even sure if they were police officers.
00:09:53.200 If you were about to have your home invaded,
00:09:55.400 I'm sure that people would easily pose as a police officer to get you to open your door.
00:10:01.080 They were scared, needless to say.
00:10:03.660 And the police, they weren't taking that for an answer.
00:10:06.540 So, when they waited for quite some time,
00:10:09.800 the immigrants were leaving the support group to their car,
00:10:13.120 and they were in an alleyway behind the house,
00:10:15.840 and the police surrounded them and demanded that they take off their winter clothing
00:10:20.120 for some sort of ID check.
00:10:22.500 I'm not sure what the specifics were on that or why.
00:10:25.440 And keep in mind, it was minus 30 that night.
00:10:28.660 And to a Polish immigrant who hardly spoke English,
00:10:31.920 they said, take off your winter jacket,
00:10:33.940 which I think is just a horrendous thing to do to anyone,
00:10:36.800 much less someone who's not a criminal by any sort of definition of the word.
00:10:41.780 So, it's a pretty sad story, frustrating story,
00:10:44.840 and I'm glad I was able to be on the scene when the police came back later that week
00:10:48.540 to do their dirty work.
00:10:51.000 Oh, and they did themselves no favour in regard to how they converse with you, Kian.
00:10:57.120 It was actually embarrassing on their behalf.
00:11:00.080 You know, tell me, Kian, usually this kind of a story, 0.53
00:11:03.540 when we look at the storylines here,
00:11:05.440 innocent immigrants just trying to get ahead in a new country, 0.97
00:11:09.080 police using intimidation tactics, flashlights coming late at night.
00:11:14.780 Usually the left and the mainstream media lose their minds over this.
00:11:19.260 David, it's because, and this is easy, they weren't black. 1.00
00:11:24.260 This isn't a BLM issue, right?
00:11:27.320 These were white immigrants, and they were from Poland,
00:11:30.740 so they aren't under that purview of BLM and this, righteous or not,
00:11:36.820 this movement that we've been seeing over the past year
00:11:39.160 to have, you know, police brutality and the overreach of police looked at critically.
00:11:45.360 And I think that's an important thing to do, regardless of race.
00:11:47.600 It's really important for police to understand that they're there to serve us,
00:11:51.100 not there to harass, beat, and intimidate us, regardless of your skin colour.
00:11:55.760 But for the left, they don't care about this case because they were white,
00:11:59.000 and it's really sad that this is being looked at from a racial lens from them.
00:12:03.520 They pick and choose, they cherry-pick what they want to look at,
00:12:05.880 and it's really a shame because these people are just as deserving
00:12:08.700 of a safe place to live in Canada as anyone else.
00:12:12.500 You know, Kian, they must be questioning their destination 1.00
00:12:15.060 in terms of starting a new life in a new country.
00:12:18.760 You know, when I go out to a lot of these anti-lockdown protests,
00:12:22.760 usually it's the people from the former Soviet Union,
00:12:25.920 the former Eastern Bloc nations,
00:12:27.860 that are absolutely the most passionate about what's going on right now,
00:12:32.680 the eclipsing of our charter rights and liberties and freedoms.
00:12:37.040 And it's because they or their families have lived through it.
00:12:42.440 They see how it begins.
00:12:44.100 It's not a happy ending.
00:12:46.100 And so when they see this kind of nonsense going on,
00:12:49.500 they've committed no crime, and yet they're getting harassed by police,
00:12:52.760 they must be really questioning why they came to Canada in the first place.
00:12:58.520 You know, David, you're totally right.
00:12:59.840 And they said this exactly to me.
00:13:01.800 They asked me as a reporter.
00:13:03.520 They actually, not as a reporter, they asked me as a Canadian citizen,
00:13:06.900 because these are people who are permanent residents right now,
00:13:09.760 and they're determining whether or not they should continue
00:13:11.940 on their path to citizenship.
00:13:13.180 And they said, is it like this here all the time, Kian?
00:13:16.840 Should we, like, are we better off in Poland? 0.94
00:13:18.900 And I didn't know what to tell them.
00:13:20.140 Like, they actually might be.
00:13:22.540 If we continue on this trend that we're trending on in Canada,
00:13:26.100 where our rights are being trampled, whether you're immigrant or not,
00:13:30.340 maybe Canada isn't the place that so many people in the world think it is.
00:13:35.620 Unbelievable.
00:13:36.400 And I've got to ask you this question too, Kian,
00:13:38.580 because we've seen so much bad policing coming out of Calgary.
00:13:44.060 The Ocean Weisblad incident was absolutely despicable,
00:13:48.580 the way those two female officers acted, pulling their tasers, 0.99
00:13:52.780 using all kinds of foul language, physically assaulting him.
00:13:56.080 We've seen this.
00:13:57.160 We've seen what happens with the street preacher.
00:13:59.520 I'm just wondering, do you detect a problem with the police force?
00:14:04.860 Usually when you look at good police forces and bad ones,
00:14:08.140 it's all about the culture in the police force.
00:14:11.460 And if you've got a rotten one, well, it just continues to function that way.
00:14:17.700 What is your take, Kian, on the kind of policing we're seeing coming out of Calgary,
00:14:23.060 especially right now during the Wuhan virus days?
00:14:27.400 You know, I always, when I was growing up,
00:14:30.060 I always thought that I would always be pro-police,
00:14:33.280 pro the people who keep us safe.
00:14:35.420 Whether it was in Calgary or rurally with the RCMP,
00:14:40.100 from Vancouver to Montreal,
00:14:42.840 I thought we could trust the police forces in the respective jurisdictions here in Canada.
00:14:47.440 And it's turning out to not be the case.
00:14:50.360 It's a total mixed bag when it comes to the police here in this country.
00:14:55.320 And it's never been illustrated better than when they've been given absolute power
00:15:00.100 by the likes of Justin Trudeau, John Tory, Mayor Nenshi.
00:15:03.840 And it's sad to watch them lose the trust of the people
00:15:07.880 because they operate off of this sort of assumption that they're acting in good faith.
00:15:13.160 And the people of their jurisdictions will give them the benefit of the doubt most of the time,
00:15:18.760 unless they're criminals, of course.
00:15:20.340 And they've lost that benefit of the doubt because of the behavior of several of their members here in Calgary
00:15:26.220 and many more across the country.
00:15:27.800 I think that there's great police officers, and I want to stand behind them.
00:15:31.780 I back the blue, but I can't back this blue that is harassing people
00:15:36.680 just because they think they can get away with it.
00:15:39.220 I think that's well said, Keenan.
00:15:40.880 I think we at Rebel, we do back the blue,
00:15:43.160 but so many police officers across Canada right now
00:15:46.200 are making it increasingly hard for us to back the blue
00:15:49.560 when we see them doing such egregious acts.
00:15:52.940 And we'll leave it on this note.
00:15:54.520 That was disturbing, that anecdote you mentioned,
00:15:56.920 where they had taken off their winter layers,
00:15:59.940 so they were reduced to a T-shirt in minus 30.
00:16:03.340 In what policing procedural manual is, I guess,
00:16:08.680 a quasi-strip search authorized in frigid conditions like that?
00:16:14.640 I can't make sense of that, Keenan.
00:16:16.740 Well, they didn't have a warrant.
00:16:18.480 I mean, if they had a warrant to take off your jacket,
00:16:21.440 then, you know, maybe they'd have to take off their jacket.
00:16:24.340 But this individual complied with the police officer.
00:16:28.340 And in that compliance,
00:16:30.640 the police officer was then able to issue them a ticket
00:16:33.360 because they were wearing the right colored shirt.
00:16:35.340 He had absolutely no obligation to remove his jacket for the police officer.
00:16:40.520 And if he didn't,
00:16:41.720 the police officer might not have been able to issue him the ticket,
00:16:44.440 even though the ticket, of course,
00:16:45.600 is going to be thrown out because they didn't break the law in the first place.
00:16:49.480 But the police officer, through harassment,
00:16:52.160 through this intimidation tactic,
00:16:53.760 through humiliation almost, right?
00:16:57.660 Like this, it's humiliating to be stripped in the cold
00:17:01.720 when you don't even speak the language.
00:17:03.200 It was humiliating.
00:17:05.040 And the police officer knew what he was doing,
00:17:07.000 and the immigrant didn't.
00:17:08.320 The immigrant didn't know what his rights were. 1.00
00:17:10.240 The police officer knew he was overstepping.
00:17:12.700 This is completely unacceptable in this country.
00:17:15.560 It was unacceptable, and it was egregious.
00:17:17.500 And I just want to say to you, Keenan,
00:17:18.980 good for you for standing up and not being intimidated by that cop
00:17:22.900 who was clearly trying to use his bully act on you.
00:17:26.960 But you weren't buying it, and you stood your ground,
00:17:29.440 and good for you.
00:17:30.460 And that was a great report.
00:17:32.040 So you have a great weekend, my friend, then.
00:17:34.580 You too.
00:17:35.160 Okay, then.
00:17:35.820 And that was Keenan Bexty in Calgary.
00:17:38.580 Keep it here, folks.
00:17:39.460 More of Rebel Roundup to come right after this.
00:17:46.500 Okay, well, I guess.
00:17:48.000 When we grew up, no one was wearing a mask.
00:17:49.900 Yeah, that's.
00:17:50.500 People were at the line.
00:17:51.360 I'm just assuming that everybody has.
00:17:53.600 Just one second.
00:17:54.520 You said that the bows were all being serviced.
00:17:56.220 I just spoke to this family.
00:17:57.220 These three bows, they don't belong to them.
00:17:59.080 No, they belong to me.
00:17:59.840 They're just here shooting for fun.
00:18:01.860 Yeah, well, to see if they like it, to see if they're going to buy stuff.
00:18:04.480 Okay.
00:18:05.000 You're going to be receiving a $12 ticket by mail.
00:18:07.480 All the business will be.
00:18:08.380 Are you the owner of the business?
00:18:09.100 I am.
00:18:09.640 Okay.
00:18:10.000 You'll be receiving that by mail.
00:18:11.500 I genuinely don't believe that you're taking necessary precautions in the public health
00:18:14.900 side.
00:18:15.480 I don't believe this would give you six feet.
00:18:17.680 If you can't wear a mask because you feel it's, like, strenuous work.
00:18:22.520 It's dangerous.
00:18:23.360 You have to be three meters.
00:18:23.880 It's not strenuous.
00:18:25.520 It's dangerous.
00:18:27.080 So just because no one is wearing masks, we would need some sort of partition or I
00:18:31.620 would go everywhere.
00:18:32.400 Who do I send the bill to then?
00:18:35.340 So if you choose to open, that would be on.
00:18:38.640 No, but it's not that I choose to open.
00:18:40.540 It's you choose to close me.
00:18:41.960 Yes.
00:18:42.320 There are.
00:18:42.880 So who do I send the bill to?
00:18:45.140 So I don't know, but there are funds from the government for some additional services.
00:18:49.620 The great thing is I'm not eligible for anything.
00:18:52.720 Okay.
00:18:53.120 Okay.
00:18:53.740 So by you coming in here and doing this, you're shutting me down.
00:18:57.660 I'm going to lose.
00:18:58.060 I'm not shutting you down.
00:18:58.740 You are.
00:18:59.320 You are.
00:18:59.880 Because this is 80% of my business right now is the lanes.
00:19:03.420 Okay.
00:19:04.020 Because so if you're shutting this down, you're shutting me down.
00:19:06.500 I might as well just close everything up, go home, get rid of the house, get rid of my
00:19:10.800 car, get rid of everything.
00:19:14.480 I'm Sheila Gunn-Reed for Rebel News and I'm back here at Wild Archery Pro Shop and Lanes
00:19:21.600 in Edmonton with owner Justin Watson.
00:19:24.720 And we met Justin last week when he defied the lockdown restrictions and told us the story
00:19:31.200 of how he decided to open up his archery lanes to people like me who want to practice our
00:19:36.260 skill and maintain our hunting form for longer than just the three weeks of the year we sit
00:19:42.620 in a tree stand and get disappointed.
00:19:46.500 Justin, since I talked to you last, you've received what I would call a bit of harassment
00:19:53.260 from Alberta Health Services and by law enforcement.
00:19:57.380 I will send you the two signs that they're asking.
00:20:00.140 We're asking individuals to put up for COVID.
00:20:02.260 So I'll just go through, are you like, are you the only staff that you have in place?
00:20:07.020 Okay.
00:20:07.420 What are you guys using for cleaning and disinfecting of services?
00:20:11.360 I will show you.
00:20:12.820 Okay.
00:20:13.240 So you're using the cabby wipes.
00:20:14.780 Perfect.
00:20:15.100 And I think these have a two or a one minute contact.
00:20:17.460 I think those are two.
00:20:18.960 Okay.
00:20:19.340 I know these are perfect.
00:20:20.340 Um, yeah, you're good till December.
00:20:29.820 Did you ever think you'd see such a thing in our lifetimes, folks?
00:20:33.900 Agents of the state visiting mom-pa shops, harassing them for having the utter temerity
00:20:40.500 to try and make a living?
00:20:42.620 Well, seeing is believing, I suppose.
00:20:45.600 But while we want to back the blue, we really do, the behavior of some law enforcement and
00:20:52.480 quasi-law enforcement in Canada these days is increasingly making me ill.
00:20:58.760 And with more on the ongoing saga of the state clamping down on the private sector is our very
00:21:05.380 own Sheila, the she-devil gun read, live and in person.
00:21:09.200 You're not in the northern hinterland of Alberta, thank goodness, Sheila.
00:21:12.440 No, I came into a big snowstorm, but it was still 30 degrees warmer than it was at home.
00:21:17.580 And I was like, where's my flip-flops?
00:21:19.220 Yeah, well, I think I got some tanning butter in the locker there.
00:21:22.320 But, you know, Sheila, we ended the clip with, and I couldn't believe what I was watching
00:21:27.900 in terms of the utter degree of pettiness.
00:21:31.540 Yep.
00:21:32.000 But it was the female bylaw officer actually checking the best before date of the, 0.95
00:21:39.280 I guess they were sanitizing wipes or something like that.
00:21:41.920 Is this for real?
00:21:44.920 I mean, I can't believe they would go, they would stoop that low to find something to hang
00:21:51.880 some sort of a fine on this guy.
00:21:53.460 Well, and this is the thing about the lockdown is we hear all these stories about just how
00:21:59.880 petty and bad and heavy-handed these quasi-law enforcement officials are, these health bureaucrats 1.00
00:22:07.200 who are now suddenly policing all aspects of our lives.
00:22:10.160 We hear how bad the stories are.
00:22:12.340 We don't often see it firsthand.
00:22:14.900 And for Justin Watson at Wild Archery to capture that and then publish it, this pandemic is
00:22:24.240 creating a lot of citizen journalists.
00:22:26.400 Yes.
00:22:26.820 Where people are realizing this is so crazy, people will not believe my story if I tell it.
00:22:32.960 I have to show them.
00:22:34.180 Oh, you do.
00:22:35.180 And you know, it also, again, Sheila, makes a mockery of the so-called science behind the
00:22:42.320 Wuhan virus.
00:22:43.020 We keep hearing that from every level, every political stripe of government.
00:22:47.220 Well, you know, folks, if it was up to us, we'd let everybody open.
00:22:49.840 But according to the science, so the science here is a few people can't come into this archery
00:22:54.880 facility because that's going to be the birthing ground of modern-day typhoid Mary's. 1.00
00:23:00.600 But just a couple of weeks ago in beautiful Tampa, Florida, you had basically almost half
00:23:06.480 the stadium with fans in the stands for the Super Bowl.
00:23:09.820 But that's okay.
00:23:11.500 I mean, can you explain how the science is so selective?
00:23:15.540 Well, and it's funny because the science apparently changes from jurisdiction to jurisdiction based
00:23:21.980 on who's in power.
00:23:23.200 So the coronavirus is less deadly in Florida where there's a freedom-minded Republican in
00:23:29.680 charge.
00:23:30.240 And somehow it's, you know, more dangerous once you get to New York where there's a governor
00:23:36.720 who apparently shipped sick people off to nursing homes.
00:23:40.220 Yeah.
00:23:41.160 The virus seems to break down political lines.
00:23:44.240 But the enforcement doesn't make any sense.
00:23:47.500 So for Justin and his archery shop, he told me that between the bylaw officers and the
00:23:55.100 health officials that came into his archery shop that day, that was more people than had
00:23:59.540 been in there the whole day.
00:24:01.540 And she's busy checking the expiration dates on the sanitary wipes or whatever.
00:24:07.620 And then, you know, they ask for his business card and he goes to give it to them.
00:24:12.900 And he goes, oh, careful, you're going to get COVID from me because even they know the
00:24:17.760 rules are stupid.
00:24:18.540 They can't follow the rules.
00:24:20.180 Yeah.
00:24:20.580 You know, and tell me a little bit about Justin.
00:24:23.180 I think it was alluded to in your video, Sheila.
00:24:27.000 He's in a corner.
00:24:29.140 He is desperate.
00:24:29.980 He doesn't qualify, I understand, for some of these handouts that the Justin Truro Liberals
00:24:35.900 are giving Canadians just to sit home and do nothing.
00:24:39.000 He needs to put, you know, the bread on the table.
00:24:42.600 And the way he does it is by operating his business.
00:24:45.040 So how is it that he is in that situation in the first place?
00:24:49.120 Because it looks to me that the government is picking and choosing who they're going to
00:24:53.760 compensate.
00:24:54.180 Right.
00:24:54.880 So for Justin, the majority of the money that his business makes comes from the archery
00:25:00.740 lanes.
00:25:01.220 He says like 75 to 80 percent comes from the archery lanes, which makes perfect sense that
00:25:05.740 he had, prior to the pandemic, invested so much money into the space there because you
00:25:11.580 need to have an indoor archery range.
00:25:13.520 You need a massive amount of space.
00:25:16.340 And on the other side, he has this small retail space, which is, you know, a place where you
00:25:21.480 can shop and make some impulse buys while you're waiting for a lane to open up or you want your
00:25:26.600 bow tuned or whatever.
00:25:27.960 It really wasn't the bulk of his business.
00:25:30.320 But the archery lanes are not qualifying for any help.
00:25:34.160 And, you know, to watch the video that Justin recorded where the health inspector is saying,
00:25:40.320 well, I feel you.
00:25:41.820 I haven't been able to go to the gym.
00:25:44.000 I feel the predicament that you're in.
00:25:46.240 And Justin's like, you haven't missed a day's wages.
00:25:48.680 I'm sorry that you can't go on the treadmill that 50 other people went on that day.
00:25:53.000 But I stand to lose everything.
00:25:55.160 And, you know, just to hear the fake empathy, I get why Justin was pretty upset with those
00:26:00.240 people.
00:26:00.760 Oh, and you know what?
00:26:01.540 That brings us to what I think is the biggest lie since the two previous biggest lies, which
00:26:09.400 are the check is in the mail and hi, I'm from the government.
00:26:12.880 I'm here to help you.
00:26:14.420 And that is, Sheila, it's been going for about a year now.
00:26:17.600 We are all in this together.
00:26:19.660 No, we're not.
00:26:20.620 This guy, like thousands of others who have gone out of business, as in permanently out
00:26:24.980 of business, they are paying the penalty of the government putting capitalism into a
00:26:31.080 leghole trap.
00:26:32.080 But the public sector, Sheila, has anyone lost a job?
00:26:35.120 Has anyone had their wages clawed back?
00:26:37.740 Has anyone had a reduction in hours?
00:26:39.860 No, it's business as usual.
00:26:41.880 So, to see that kind of statement, I get it.
00:26:46.140 This is coming from somebody who is gainfully employed as a bylaw officer.
00:26:50.420 Well, and in Alberta, in some instances, it's even worse.
00:26:53.820 We just recently saw our provincial government that alleges to me that they're conservative
00:26:58.260 say we're going to basically offer a top-up, a bonus, to basically essential public sector
00:27:06.840 workers, a $1,200 top-up.
00:27:10.360 And I'm thinking, I'm helping people fight $1,200 tickets because they want to work.
00:27:17.880 They don't want a handout.
00:27:18.780 They don't want a top-up.
00:27:19.720 They don't want anything like that.
00:27:20.980 They want to be able to work.
00:27:22.080 They're getting a $1,200 bill.
00:27:24.480 And these bureaucrats who've already not lost a day in wages, they're getting a $1,200
00:27:28.400 raise.
00:27:30.540 And that's really been the story of this pandemic.
00:27:33.520 The people who have never lost a penny are the ones advocating for it to go on and on
00:27:37.960 and on.
00:27:38.380 And the people who stand to lose everything or are getting slapped with fines, they're
00:27:42.980 the ones being punished in all of this.
00:27:44.700 You know, and it's the other chutzpah.
00:27:46.080 I mean, when I was filling in last week for Ezra's show, my monologue was about how the
00:27:50.080 teachers unions here in Ontario are saying, contrary to what the province wants to do,
00:27:56.840 which is cancel March break, because there's so much time they need to make up.
00:28:00.880 They're going, no, the teachers are burnt out.
00:28:03.880 We can't cancel March break.
00:28:05.620 Besides, it's right there in the contract, sucker.
00:28:08.040 Read it.
00:28:08.640 You know, if you cancel March break, we need days in lieu of March break.
00:28:12.120 So again, there's zero sacrifice.
00:28:14.380 And by the way, most of these schools have been closed since prior to Christmas.
00:28:18.520 What do you mean the teachers are being burnt out?
00:28:21.200 So I just want to say, Sheila, thank you for doing such great work in Alberta.
00:28:28.140 The Whistle Stop Cafe, this archery place, there's so many that you've gone to bat for.
00:28:32.460 And Alberta is one of the freer provinces in Canada.
00:28:35.040 And I think the moral of the story or the parting shot here is for any entrepreneurs, right,
00:28:43.720 that are being harassed by bylaw or law enforcement, take out your cell phone.
00:28:50.520 Start recording.
00:28:52.200 You're not obligated to put it away, even if they falsely tell you not to film them.
00:28:57.320 Film everything, because so much of it is really unbelievable, isn't it, Sheila?
00:29:00.900 Sure, and going back to your whole we're all in this together thing, we are all in this
00:29:06.140 together, but I would exclude the bureaucrats from all of that and the government workers
00:29:10.160 from all of that.
00:29:11.000 In that, it started in Alberta with a restaurant rebellion, and it was one guy, and then everybody
00:29:17.500 popped up around him.
00:29:18.720 And then it was the beef companies that were dropping off beef.
00:29:23.340 And then it was the customers that were patronizing.
00:29:26.200 And so we were all in this together.
00:29:28.580 It just had nothing to do with the government.
00:29:30.800 We rallied around one guy, and then we helped open up an entire industry, and everybody came
00:29:36.080 to support.
00:29:37.260 So when the government says, we're all in this together, you say, no, we're in this together.
00:29:42.120 Yeah.
00:29:42.500 You're over there.
00:29:43.420 You're over there.
00:29:44.120 And also, please forgive me for taking off to, oh, I don't know, Hawaii or St. Barts.
00:29:49.980 Yeah.
00:29:50.280 Or we're telling you, don't even get in your car unless it's absolutely necessary.
00:29:54.200 It's mind-boggling.
00:29:55.260 Sheila, a fantastic report.
00:29:56.360 Thank you.
00:29:56.920 As always.
00:29:57.540 And there you have it, Sheila Gunn-Reed live and in person.
00:30:01.440 And I'm very, very happy about that.
00:30:03.640 Keep it here.
00:30:04.280 More of Rebel Roundup to come right after this.
00:30:11.980 That facility is a federal quarantine facility.
00:30:15.300 And you've been cautioned now not to enter the premises of the federal quarantine facility.
00:30:20.520 We backed the blue.
00:30:21.680 But this kind of intimidation, going to my personal residence to give me this bogus trespass ticket,
00:30:29.080 it's making it increasingly hard for us to do, sir.
00:30:31.660 Where did you fly in from?
00:30:34.040 Where did you fly in from?
00:30:35.120 Oh, we got another one.
00:30:37.060 You came from Mexico?
00:30:38.880 Hola, mi amigo.
00:30:40.580 Nice talking to you.
00:30:41.620 Here's my friend.
00:30:42.340 She wants to talk to you.
00:30:43.520 Okay, give me information.
00:30:44.760 Hello.
00:30:44.920 No negative test before he returns.
00:30:50.880 So why are you quarantining?
00:30:54.180 David says we live in Canada.
00:31:00.440 We live in a free country.
00:31:03.600 I have just spoken to two people who have proven that they do not have COVID.
00:31:12.200 Why is it possible that they are being held against their will?
00:31:20.520 David Menzies for Rebel News here in Toronto.
00:31:23.660 Well, folks, I am back at the infamous Radisson Airport Hotel on Dixon Road.
00:31:29.680 We have some protesters congregating.
00:31:32.740 And compared to our visit here last Thursday, there are a few subtle differences.
00:31:38.600 For one thing, there is now a rope here.
00:31:41.340 And here on this pylon, here's something new.
00:31:45.340 Private property, no trespassing.
00:31:48.820 Well, as the saying goes, now you tell me.
00:31:51.460 Because, folks, as you may know from a previous video, the Toronto police came to my house yesterday.
00:31:59.480 I don't even live in Toronto.
00:32:01.620 And two police officers paid a second visit to my humble little home in Richmond Hill to serve me with a trespassing ticket.
00:32:09.640 And as I pointed out in the video, this, to me, looks like a hotel open to the public.
00:32:18.440 You know, our first visit here in January, we were told by somebody at the hotel called Jamie.
00:32:25.540 It's closed for construction.
00:32:27.300 Closed for construction.
00:32:28.000 I see people in the windows.
00:32:30.380 I don't know what to tell you.
00:32:31.520 Clearly, it is not closed to the public.
00:32:36.860 But the question arises, why would you trespass me for committing, I don't know, the egregious act of practicing journalism?
00:32:46.880 But that's how they roll in John Tory's Toronto.
00:32:50.580 So, at least now, they've done a little MacGyver here of bolting a private property, no trespassing sign.
00:32:58.760 But it sure wasn't there last week.
00:33:01.180 And we have the video footage to prove it.
00:33:03.300 So, I would imagine that in any moment, there'll be police.
00:33:08.140 In fact, I think those might be the police that showed up to my house yesterday.
00:33:12.780 They were driving a black Dodge Caravan, which I guess I should be grateful one of the vehicles that came last week was a Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck.
00:33:24.740 Why would the police need that?
00:33:26.300 Or maybe they tow around the mounted unit.
00:33:28.400 You'd need a truck like that.
00:33:30.140 Here we have Paladin Security, or as I like to call them, Mayor Patrick Brown's Praetorian Guard.
00:33:37.740 These guys are usually in Brampton guarding the hockey rinks where Mayor Brown and his buddies from Barrie illegally play hockey.
00:33:47.900 So, yeah, once again, folks, your tax dollars are hard at work.
00:33:53.300 Well, what a difference a week makes when it comes to the Radisson Hotel near the Toronto airport.
00:33:58.980 For starters, there is new signage warning away the riffraff that this hotel is no longer open to the public. 1.00
00:34:06.300 Unless you are a member of the public being held there against your will, that is.
00:34:11.680 Oh, and finally, some confirmation from police that this is indeed a federal quarantine facility.
00:34:19.600 We're still waiting to have our queries answered by the Public Health Agency of Canada regarding this hotel.
00:34:26.720 But apparently, the PHAC has enlisted members of the Toronto Police Service to do their public relations work for them.
00:34:36.300 When they're not writing trespassing tickets to journalists, that is.
00:34:41.420 My only regret upon revisiting the Radisson was not bumping into Jamie.
00:34:46.400 I really wanted to ask him how the construction was coming along.
00:34:51.540 Unbelievable.
00:34:52.180 In any event, here's what you had to say about this government-run quarantine facility in Toronto.
00:34:58.560 So, G.D. Calm writes,
00:35:01.120 Quote,
00:35:02.080 Fear is a government's greatest weapon.
00:35:04.680 With it, they can convince a people that they need to abandon their freedom.
00:35:09.380 In exchange, they get safety.
00:35:11.420 Of course, you just trade one monster for another.
00:35:15.040 But by the time the people realize this, it is too late.
00:35:19.040 End quote.
00:35:19.980 Victor Methos.
00:35:20.800 Doesn't that quote absolutely nail it, folks?
00:35:24.260 Best-selling author Victor Methos, by the way,
00:35:26.600 immigrated to the United States from Kabul, Afghanistan, at the age of nine.
00:35:31.600 I imagine living in Afghanistan gave Mr. Methos a crash course 1.00
00:35:36.460 on what it is like to be under the thumb of tyranny.
00:35:41.560 Christine Green writes,
00:35:42.880 If they tested negative twice, why are they still in this hotel?
00:35:47.740 You know, great question, Christine.
00:35:49.180 Unfortunately, nobody in Ottawa will give us an answer.
00:35:54.320 Wes Sprout writes,
00:35:56.160 Radisson Hospitality is majority owned by Xinjiang International's holding company,
00:36:02.600 which is ultimately owned by an entity of the government of the People's Republic of China.
00:36:07.980 You are correct, Wes.
00:36:09.480 And talk about perverse irony, eh, folks?
00:36:12.380 It was China that unleashed this virus upon the world a year ago, 1.00
00:36:16.560 causing untold trillions of economic damage.
00:36:21.700 And now it is China making out like bandits by taking federal government money, 0.68
00:36:27.500 a.k.a. tax dollars, to incarcerate Canadians returning to Canada.
00:36:33.540 And somebody once said, crime does not pay.
00:36:36.760 Frogfur fighting against Trudeau writes,
00:36:40.900 Rebel News fighting for patriotic Canadians.
00:36:43.860 Well, thank you, Frogfur.
00:36:45.800 You know, I don't know if we're fighting for patriotic Canadians
00:36:49.540 or simply just covering the news.
00:36:52.320 But when it comes to Canada's quarantine hotels,
00:36:55.440 it looks like the mainstream media is sitting this one out.
00:36:58.740 Gee, I wonder why.
00:37:02.040 Kurt Barlow writes,
00:37:03.480 I know someone who works at a maximum security prison.
00:37:06.920 Inmates get one hour recreation time as per law.
00:37:10.900 Are these Canadian citizen inmates getting their one hour rec time as well?
00:37:16.260 Nope.
00:37:16.800 Looks like a 24 hour lockdown.
00:37:20.220 You know, that's a great point, Kurt.
00:37:21.700 Not only are they confined to quarters, the windows are sealed, shut,
00:37:26.860 and they can't even order in their own food via such services as Uber Eats or DoorDash.
00:37:33.000 And again, the question arises, why?
00:37:36.600 And Hardcore Studios, Voice in the Well, writes,
00:37:40.440 I love that chick sweater.
00:37:42.380 My freedom does not stop when your fear begins.
00:37:45.820 Go hide in a hole, scaredy cats, lol.
00:37:48.180 Well, that's my stock answer to all COVID nonsense.
00:37:52.540 Yeah, Hardcore, I love that statement too.
00:37:55.340 That chick, by the way, is Stephanie, 0.99
00:37:58.080 and she's an absolute delight doing her best
00:38:00.880 to inform the Radisson inmates about their rights.
00:38:04.800 Alas, the way things are going in John Tory's hog town these days,
00:38:08.760 I wouldn't be surprised to see Stephanie hauled away 0.96
00:38:11.480 in her paddy wagon in the near future,
00:38:13.860 simply for speaking the truth.
00:38:16.120 Because that's how we roll in Canada
00:38:18.400 when it comes to those espousing contrarian opinions
00:38:22.220 regarding the Wuhan virus.
00:38:24.800 Well, that wraps up another edition of Rebel Roundup.
00:38:27.340 Thanks so much for joining us.
00:38:28.600 See you next week.
00:38:29.300 And hey, folks, never forget,
00:38:31.500 without risk, there can be no glory.
00:38:33.820 Good night.
00:38:34.240 One more time.
00:38:53.500 I'll see you next week.
