Rebel News Podcast - EZRA LEVANT ｜ Global News is sinking faster than the Titanic — and they want more taxpayer money!

00:00:00.000 tonight global news is sinking faster than the titanic and guess what they want more of your

00:00:21.320 money to keep them afloat it's wednesday september 21st 2022 i'm david menzies and this

00:00:29.340 is the ezra lavent show shame on you you sensorious bug 0.96

00:00:37.720 over the decades several artists have covered the old harvey schmidt song try to remember you know

00:00:53.380 try to remember that kind of september forgive my awful attempt at singing folks in any event i'll

00:01:03.340 tell you who is trying to forget all about the month of september in the here and now and that

00:01:09.760 would be global news along with its corporate master chorus entertainment inc while the month isn't quite

00:01:16.260 yet over september has been brutally embarrassing for the global news propaganda arm of the trudeau

00:01:23.080 liberals indeed to paraphrase a queen elizabeth descriptor it has been menzies horribilis aka

00:01:31.600 a month of disaster and misfortune and as we proceed with the autopsy where's one even begin

00:01:39.680 how about the latest act of overt dumbness and rudeness courtesy of david aiken the chief political

00:01:47.320 correspondent based at global news ottawa do you remember his outrageous behavior at a pierre polyev

00:01:54.940 press conference last week check it out thank you very much i appreciate it appreciate your presence

00:02:01.860 here today uh before i begin let me just say that uh thank you very much i'm being i'm being heckled

00:02:11.560 here by by the by the thank you very much for your congratulations thank you very much for your

00:02:17.660 questions i'm going to begin my remarks now but will you take some questions afterwards justin trudeau

00:02:23.400 is out of touch and canadians are out of money the cost of my government is driving up the cost of

00:02:31.200 living a half a trillion dollars of inflationary deficits have bid up the cost of the goods we buy

00:02:39.640 and the and the interest that canadians pay the cost for workers and businesses to produce the goods

00:02:47.440 that we buy on top of that trudeau proposes yet more spending to bid up costs even further

00:02:54.120 the more things the more he spends the more things cost it is just inflation their homes

00:03:02.360 and to buy a home in the very first place the reason that

00:03:07.120 so i mean we have we we have uh basically a liberal heckler who snuck in here today 0.98

00:03:16.880 you know i'd call david aiken a horse's ass but i fear that descriptor might be offensive to the 0.98

00:03:24.060 equine rectum community aiken's tirade was shameful but not really surprising that's because back in 0.98

00:03:31.160 december aiken was also the author of a very embarrassing spectacle online you may recall that i

00:03:39.080 was physically assaulted in downtown toronto by justin trudeau's rcmp goon squad in early december

00:03:46.300 my crime i was standing on a public sidewalk hopeful that i would get a chance to ask the pm a

00:03:52.540 question you see prime minister blackface and his fellow liberals were imploring canadians

00:03:58.300 not to get together with friends and family at christmas time you know that kind of thing could

00:04:03.940 lead to covid19 super spreader events but alas trudeau was staging a fundraising dinner at the brickwork

00:04:12.140 cider house and the donors were packed in like sardines yet again folks one rule for me

00:04:19.500 one rule for thee but trudeau didn't like that rebel news was there to ask an impolite question so

00:04:27.900 he actually sicked his thugs on me and they mugged me for no good reason here check it out

00:04:34.140 get out of the room huh look wrong huh yeah you'd like to see that i wouldn't like to see that at

00:04:41.500 all yeah it means a lot of paperwork

00:04:53.020 what are you doing get off me hey i can hey this is assault move i'm on a side what is this

00:05:02.060 i'm on a sidewalk what is this you cannot touch me no question working hey

00:05:16.860 are you kidding are you kidding let's call me what is this you can't am i under arrest am i under arrest

00:05:28.220 now predictably the mainstream media look the other way no crime to see here folks alas if it

00:05:34.780 had been the cbc's rosemary barton being roughed up in such a fashion i believe we'd still be in the

00:05:41.580 midst of a royal commission right now regarding the dangers of practicing journalism in canada

00:05:47.820 but such is the msm contempt and even visceral hatred for rebel news that they ignored this grotesque

00:05:55.820 attack on a member of the free press oh but not mr aiken mind you he hopped on twitter to profess

00:06:04.780 his love for team trudeau check out an excerpt of ezra levent's superb monologue from december 19th

00:06:12.220 okay so forget the smears by that editor who frankly i've never heard of um put aside the smears

00:06:19.020 she she actually did say that it looked bloody awful but not david aiken uh he was trying to turn

00:06:27.580 her around on this he said google david menzies and arrest this is how he pays his bills what

00:06:35.660 so david aiken is saying that david menzies wanted this for for profit that this is what

00:06:45.580 david menzies does for for money that david menzies expected this wanted this planned this provoked this

00:06:53.820 and by the way david aiken is still suggesting that david menzies was arrested menzies was not

00:07:00.300 arrested he was mugged by the police not arrested by them not charged by them i'll show you another

00:07:06.780 tweet here another journalist alan fryer chimed in and said to david aiken shouldn't matter david

00:07:13.500 this should not happen in canada so alan fryer's saying there's doesn't matter what david menzies

00:07:18.220 was going to ask but aiken doubles down he says like i said i'm i'm curious the only

00:07:25.740 journalist in scare quotes i've seen treated this way in 20 years of covering political leaders as

00:07:31.580 menzies it's his shtick fundraising theater he gets arrested all the time

00:07:40.940 will i say again that he wasn't arrested last night and a better journalist would have known that

00:07:45.820 than david aiken weird you know aiken and i worked together at sun news a decade ago i

00:07:52.060 frequently appeared on his show i considered him a colleague and heck even a friend i had no idea

00:07:58.380 he had such contempt for me but alas in yester decade sun news was not government funded in fact

00:08:05.260 the network was government slaughtered when the crtc refused to give sun news the proper broadcasting

00:08:12.940 license that would ensure its survival why oh no reason was given the crtc doesn't have to give a reason

00:08:21.420 but the unspoken reason was that the leftist bureaucrats at the crtc did not want a right

00:08:28.700 of center tv network on the airwaves diversity is our strength you see but not when it comes to a

00:08:35.020 diversity of political opinions oh and by the way i don't think aiken ever corrected the record you know that

00:08:43.260 i had been arrested hey details me tales i guess besides david aiken is too much of a big shot to

00:08:53.020 deal with retractions and apologies and now he is the canadian version of jim acosta wow so what is the

00:09:01.500 takeaway of david aiken's twitter behavior last december and his appalling behavior at the polyopressor last

00:09:08.700 week well i think it's this as a state-funded journalist aiken wants to send a clear message

00:09:16.460 to the government that he is on team trudeau the media watchdogs have become trudeau's lapdogs and

00:09:25.260 aiken wants to demonstrate to the kennel master that he's a very loyal canine indeed one that will

00:09:31.660 snarl at rebel journalists and conservative leaders you see aiken is sending a message to trudeau that

00:09:39.260 global news is worthy of all that filthy lucre the prime minister sends its way and hey should global

00:09:47.580 news go under oh and i'll address this matter a little bit later well aiken is essentially conveying

00:09:54.860 to the pm hey look at me look at me look at how i'm harassing your enemies perhaps aiken

00:10:01.820 is essentially suggesting to justin that you know the next time he makes some senate appointments

00:10:08.620 well mr aiken would be perfectly fine dropping this journalism shtick and instead continue to 0.94

00:10:15.740 suck off the taxpayer teat by being a member of the red chamber yeah snap snap grin grin wink wink

00:10:22.860 nudge nudge sign them all then again aiken does work out of the ottawa bureau of global news which is also 0.99

00:10:28.460 home to that pathetic drama queen that is rachel crimer i mean rachel gilmore you see rachel has 1.00

00:10:36.380 incessantly droned on and on about being attacked because she is a female journalist yeah i know that 1.00

00:10:43.820 sounds serious doesn't it folks except that she hasn't actually been physically manhandled like my

00:10:51.020 beloved female colleagues at rebel news such as sheila gun reed and alexa lavoie and drea humphrey

00:10:57.980 they've all been on the receiving end of physical assaults from antifa creeps to trigger happy members of

00:11:04.940 law enforcement no little darling rachel is crying about mean tweets oh poor baby i hear she's even 1.00

00:11:13.580 teared up on occasion her makeup meltdown resembling a tammy faye baker slobber fest 0.98

00:11:20.380 except with rachel you get the added annoyance of vocal fry 1.00

00:11:27.820 but you know her self-professed victimhood has paid dividends for rachel well sort of she was 0.99

00:11:34.700 invited to speak at an event put on by the so-called anti-hate network earlier this month so called that

00:11:41.180 is folks because i can think of no other organization in canada that is more hateful than the anti-hate

00:11:48.780 network especially if you're conservative or say a supporter of the freedom convoy but hey rachel is

00:11:56.780 down with that revolution let me tell you check out this tweet from january in which gilmore quotes an

00:12:02.940 unnamed anti-hate expert regarding the far-right convoy whose members have made quote islamophobic

00:12:12.060 comments in the past end quote gee what comments would those be well it's not reported because

00:12:19.100 gilmore is a horrible reporter she's a diversity hire you see a member of the woke me generation who 1.00

00:12:26.940 thinks all the news stories must revolve around her and what hard-hitting stories they are folks

00:12:34.380 check out this tick-tock video of um rachel getting a tattoo in tunisia who now that's big news

00:12:48.380 i'm i'm getting it

00:12:58.380 the shop is called walk him it was the first legal kind of shop in tunisia

00:13:10.380 that's another thing rachel just loves taking her blouse off for the longest while she had a photo 1.00

00:13:24.860 of her pinned to her twitter account bragging about her latest covet 19 vaccine shot who does that who

00:13:33.580 post their medical history on social media and does this npc think it's actually an achievement

00:13:40.780 to get jabbed with a needle but again much like aiken she's demonstrating to the kennel master 0.94

00:13:48.780 that rachel gilmore is a good little compliant reporter when it comes to vaccine mandates

00:13:55.180 and that she's doing her best to gin up pro-vax propaganda trudeau must be smiling when it comes

00:14:02.780 to the behavior of this little media minion but rachel here's some advice for you that will truly

00:14:09.340 advance your career given that you are such a shameless exhibitionist next time you get a one-on-one

00:14:16.220 interview with sugar daddy justin by all means take off your blouse again prime minister mc gropey

00:14:23.580 will really like that just ask rose knight but enough about rachel cry more because there was yet 1.00

00:14:32.220 another september faux pas regarding global news you see a knife man who was most likely a global news

00:14:39.900 employee entered the global news toronto headquarters on tuesday evening september 6 now police and

00:14:48.220 paramedics they were called to the scene oh you didn't hear about this on global news or any other

00:14:54.860 news outlet you say well little wonder the media and even the police are covering it up check it out

00:15:02.380 why isn't this knife attack in the news why aren't you doing a story on this i have no comment

00:15:09.420 they're on their way okay then so you are a news organization and this seems kind of newsy to me how

00:15:17.820 you doing sir who are you i'm david menzies with rebel news why are you here i'm here to do a story on

00:15:23.820 the knife attack that occurred on tuesday there was no knife attack there was no knife attack okay

00:15:28.540 well i reached out to police and they say there was an incident nope not here there was an incident

00:15:34.300 but it has nothing to do with uh anybody else but us was it a current or former employee no comment

00:15:41.100 this sounds kind of crimey to me given that the police got involved why wouldn't katherine mcdonald

00:15:45.980 be filing a story on this there's no story to be told because it's being covered up no it's not

00:15:50.940 being covered up okay well what can you describe for me sir the incident personal incident that's

00:15:55.260 all it was you see if it was somebody wearing a maga hat if it was some patriot in a pickup truck

00:16:01.180 displaying a canadian flag oh you want to bet that's going to lead global news toronto their newscast

00:16:08.140 however when it's allegedly one of their own somebody within the media party acting badly it's not a news

00:16:15.580 item it's a cover-up by the way we still haven't been able to identify the knife man toronto police

00:16:22.540 won't even name him for whatever reason but we're not letting this story go away in fact the big boss

00:16:28.540 man himself ezral event he's posted a 500 reward to anyone who can name this individual if you know the

00:16:36.700 identity of the knife man please email ezra in strict confidence at ezra at rebel news dot com and we

00:16:46.140 will do a follow-up story so i'm sure that some of you are probably saying right now why should i even

00:16:54.220 care that global news is a shoddy operation employing vapid and vacuous and vindictive journalists

00:17:01.900 well here's why you should care you see your tax dollars are propping up this organization and

00:17:07.980 its journalists jabronis and get a load of this global is now coming to the government cap in hand

00:17:17.500 begging for more of your money i swear check out this recent story from our friends at true north quote

00:17:26.780 the owners of global news are demanding more government funding as its news media company

00:17:33.260 faces imminent financial collapse according to black locks reporter although chorus entertainment inc has

00:17:41.660 benefited from millions in taxpayer funding its executive vice president told the senate transport and

00:17:50.060 communications committee that its news business was quote on the brink news is a

00:17:56.540 challenging business traditionally we have offset our news losses through more profitable

00:18:02.940 entertainment programming but this is no longer a feasible strategy said troy reeb reeb also complained of

00:18:12.220 competitors who come in and take audiences as well as social media companies end quote oh my god

00:18:22.300 you mean the marxists at chorus don't like competition so they need yet more taxpayer funded corporate welfare 0.98

00:18:32.540 why don't they adopt our model and crowdfund their enterprise oh no folks the entitled chorus commies 0.99

00:18:41.260 don't want to actually hustle to earn their money that's for the commoners unbelievable

00:18:47.580 oh it should be noted that in business the bottom line is indeed the bottom line and check out the grim

00:18:55.740 bottom line regarding chorus entertainment inc in the last five years chorus has lost nearly 80 percent of its stock

00:19:06.380 value on the toronto stock exchange 80 percent wow chorus is such a sinking ship right now it makes the

00:19:16.620 titanic look like a state-of-the-art hovercraft chorus is also a case in point when it comes to the proverb

00:19:24.380 go woke get broke you see once upon a time the chorus radio station in toronto it was known as mojo radio

00:19:31.980 aka talk radio for guys it generated good ratings but it also generated controversy so the

00:19:40.460 wimps in charge rebranded the station it's now totally woke of course in the on-air talent with

00:19:46.300 the exception of the superb alex pearson they are painfully boring politically correct 0.70

00:19:54.060 lame brains you know if some of those chorus hosts don't get off the air soon folks i'm going to stop 1.00

00:20:00.860 breathing it indeed i used to be a frequent paid guest on am640 shows i'm now actually banned from the

00:20:09.980 station i'm guilty of wrong thought you see compared to the hilarious days of mojo radio am640 only

00:20:18.220 wants torturous wokeism to fill its broadcasting schedule and the end result well folks last time

00:20:25.900 i checked the ratings book am640 was the second lowest rated radio station in hogtown only the classical

00:20:35.420 music station 96.3 fm was rated lower so here's the deal be it am640 or global news or any other

00:20:46.300 struggling chorus property chorus is producing insipid content that fewer and fewer people want to consume

00:20:56.780 and when the chorus cats can't sell enough advertising they go crying to the government

00:21:02.300 for more taxpayer money to prop up this media manure wagon give me a break indeed my favorite yiddish word

00:21:11.740 springs to mind chutzpah sheer unmitigated gall but for chorus time is of the essence you see there might

00:21:21.980 be a federal election this fall or maybe it'll be in 2025 who knows for certain right now but chorus knows full

00:21:29.660 well that when regime change does come to town in the form of the pierre polyev conservatives the gravy

00:21:37.340 train is going to be derailed that the free market economy is going to prevail once again chorus properties

00:21:46.140 like global news are dead dogs with fleas when the new boss man takes up residence at 24 sussex drive

00:21:54.460 instead of continuing to subsidize this media mutt it's time to take it behind the barn old yeller style

00:22:03.260 and put this miserable organization out of its self-inflicted misery oh i can't wait to hear the howls of

00:22:12.860 outrage and indignation emanating from the likes of david aiken and rachel gilmore when that happens

00:22:20.140 you know that footage just might prove to be the most entertaining program to air on global tv

00:22:28.700 since what will they think of next

00:22:31.100 well folks there's some good news and some bad news to report on the taxation front first the good

00:22:49.580 news more than 50 national governments cut taxes during the pandemic or to ease the burden of inflation

00:22:57.740 according to a new report released by the canadian taxpayers federation alas here's the bad news

00:23:05.980 canada was not one of the tax cutting nations nope the justin trudeau liberals raised taxes for canadians

00:23:14.780 yet again as if we don't already have it tough enough and joining me with more on this sad state of

00:23:22.540 affairs taking lease in our great dominion is franco teresano federal director of the canadian taxpayers

00:23:30.940 federation so franco thanks for joining me on the ezreal event show how you doing today well i'm doing

00:23:37.260 well thanks so much for having me on it's a pleasure so franco i must say that in one respect

00:23:42.940 i'm not at all surprised that taxes are going up for the average canadian after all the justin trudeau

00:23:51.180 liberals are spending at a rate that would make a drunken sailor blush is this what this is all

00:23:58.860 about is this the main reason for the lack of tax relief or are there other factors at play here

00:24:05.180 no i mean canadians are paying too much tax because the trudeau government is wasting too much money

00:24:10.860 uh i mean look canadians could pay lower taxes if uh the federal government wasn't wasting so much

00:24:16.780 money like announcing hundreds of millions of dollars for companies like bombardier or giving

00:24:22.860 300 000 federal bureaucrats a pay raise during lockdowns or uh spending thousands of dollars on

00:24:29.100 a sex toy show in germany so i think you're absolutely right when you suggest that the reason

00:24:34.620 that canadians are paying too much tax is because the government is wasting too much money you know and 0.95

00:24:40.140 it reminds me of rob ford when he was mayor of toronto and he swept into the mayorship of the city franco

00:24:47.580 on that great slogan respect for taxpayers and he always talked about um the city having a spending

00:24:57.820 problem and that you could achieve efficiencies by making strategic cuts and when you gave me those

00:25:05.900 examples that crazy story about federal tax dollars going into a sex toy show in germany i mean what in

00:25:15.180 blue blazes was that about frank yeah call me old-fashioned but if the germans want to have uh 0.91

00:25:21.260 if the germans want to have their own sex toy shows maybe they can pay for it themselves right but 0.96

00:25:26.540 look we we absolutely have a spending problem in ottawa and we've had a spending problem for a very 0.62

00:25:31.900 long time let's look pre-covid 19 in 2018 the federal government was spending all-time highs

00:25:39.100 even after accounting for inflation and population changes which means that the trudeau government

00:25:44.540 before cover covet 19 was spending more money than the feds did during any single year during world war

00:25:51.020 ii okay so with overspending like that for years finding savings in every area of that bloated budget in

00:25:57.500 ottawa should be like finding water in the ocean uh but unfortunately we're not seeing any uh any real

00:26:04.220 meaningful attempt to cut spending we're seeing the exact opposite i mean look there is low hanging

00:26:09.020 fruit for the federal government to cut and they should stop or they should start with stop giving

00:26:13.980 themselves pay raises every single year while everyone else struggles yeah that isn't crazy that that

00:26:19.820 that is very interesting frank i should say that you know once upon a time people went into public

00:26:26.700 service to do just that they wanted to serve the public uh even though they could probably make more

00:26:33.820 money in the private sector but we've seen the growth of public sector unions they're very militant when it

00:26:40.060 comes to raises and benefits and pension plans but we're the ones paying it we're the stakeholders

00:26:49.020 and i mean at one point this bottomless taxpayer trough is going to hit a limit is it not

00:26:57.500 well it certainly seems like public servants are servants in name only doesn't it doesn't it feel

00:27:02.540 like we're we're working hard to work for them sometimes i think it certainly feels that way but

00:27:07.900 let's get back to the tax issue because we also saw a report from the frazier institute that looked at

00:27:13.740 all the different taxes you pay to the different levels of government property taxes income taxes

00:27:18.860 sales taxes alcohol taxes taxes on taxes when you add all of that up the average family is paying

00:27:25.660 about 43 percent of their budget just in taxes so you know what if governments really want to make

00:27:32.540 life more affordable how about you just stop taking so much money in the first place but the problem

00:27:37.740 that we're seeing is is we're seeing the trudeau government come up with so-called affordability

00:27:42.620 plans i don't know if you can call it a plan but when it comes to affordability the trudeau

00:27:47.260 government essentially breaks your leg then gives you crutches two sizes too small then says well hey

00:27:53.420 look if it wasn't for the government you wouldn't be able to walk well you know what in the first

00:27:57.980 place just do no harm which means stop raising taxes stop wasting money and cut taxes now no you're right

00:28:06.140 franco i'm a big fan of tax cuts because we've seen in other jurisdictions when you put more money

00:28:13.020 into the wallets and purses of the citizens what are they going to do they're going to go out and spend

00:28:18.940 it it's going to stimulate the economy maybe you know you're going to buy a a new appliance uh maybe a

00:28:25.820 car assuming we get this semiconductorship issue uh sorted out in the near future um and but yet

00:28:33.340 there are too many governments in canada being a prime example franco tax and spend tax and spend

00:28:39.420 and you know even let's just set aside the economic stimulus argument for a second because

00:28:45.660 there's another argument to be made canadians are struggling i hear from it every day that people

00:28:51.180 are struggling to put fuel in their car on the way to work i talk to young families who are worried about

00:28:56.300 being able to afford formula or or able to worry that they're not able to afford brown beef in their

00:29:01.660 grocery cart right so right now is the worst possible time for the federal government for trudeau

00:29:07.420 to be taking more money out of our pockets you know what it should have been at the very least

00:29:11.980 a no-brainer for the federal government not to raise taxes during coven 19 during lockdowns and as

00:29:18.220 inflation soared but we saw the government raise taxes it raised the carbon tax three times since

00:29:24.220 coven 19 it raised payroll taxes and if all that drives you to drink well you know what when you go to

00:29:29.900 the liquor store and pick up that two four keiths or pick up that bottle of wine to share with your

00:29:33.820 better half well you're paying more to the tax man there as well it's incredible and this is not

00:29:40.140 you know when i delve down into your report franco basically if you make more than forty thousand

00:29:46.300 dollars annually and that's that's not a lot of money in this day and age no your federal income taxes

00:29:53.260 are going up primarily because of the payroll tax i understand i mean i think this is just egregious

00:30:00.380 that people at that tax bracket are going to suffer even more this year and you know what

00:30:07.420 when ottawa as ottawa sticks us canadians with higher tax bills there's other countries around

00:30:12.860 the world that are doing the right thing and providing their citizens with some much needed

00:30:16.380 relief right you mentioned that we found 51 other national governments that are providing tax relief

00:30:22.060 but a lot of them are our international peers the people we compete with more than half of g7 and g20

00:30:28.700 countries cut taxes two-thirds of oecd countries cut taxes and we're seeing some significant

00:30:34.620 tax relief right australia cut its gas tax by 50 percent south korea cut its gas tax by 30 percent

00:30:42.460 you've got germany ireland india italy the netherlands new zealand norway they're cutting taxes as well and

00:30:49.660 you know what let's not forget that these higher prices aren't a choice from the politicians because

00:30:55.820 trudeau could immediately cut gas taxes and save drivers between 18 and 30 cents per liter today

00:31:03.340 depending on where you fuel up wow you know and franco here's the other issue do you think maybe

00:31:09.580 justin trudeau suffers from a lack of economic literacy if you will i go back seven years ago when

00:31:17.340 he was first running for office that infamous quote the budget will balance itself first of all and

00:31:24.380 franco i'm not even trying to be funny here what did he mean by that well what it's uh it's uh what

00:31:31.500 september 21 2022 uh we don't have a balanced budget not even close so we're still waiting for that but

00:31:37.820 you know what you asked uh the question is kind of do they know what they're doing but you know what i

00:31:43.500 think they do know what they're doing the whole point of the carbon tax is to increase the price at the

00:31:49.180 pumps it's not like the government doesn't know that they're raising prices with the carbon tax let

00:31:54.140 me give you another example next july the federal government is bringing in what amounts to a second

00:32:00.300 carbon tax within fuel regulations well within the government's own numbers the government's own

00:32:05.740 report shows who is going to be hurt the most from that second carbon tax it's low-income individuals

00:32:11.980 middle-income individuals those who are already in energy poverty single mothers seniors living on fixed

00:32:18.300 income and again this is from the government's own report so i think it's time that we stop pretending

00:32:24.460 that the government doesn't know what it's doing it knows that its policies are driving up the cost of

00:32:28.860 living the only thing i can say as we wrap this up franco is maybe it's also a matter of a lack of

00:32:35.660 empathy by the prime minister and other senior liberal cabinet ministers i mean the prime minister is a

00:32:42.220 trust fund baby he's a multi-millionaire he's set for life he never has to look at the price of items

00:32:49.900 he doesn't have to worry about gas prices is maybe that is maybe that part of the problem franco

00:32:56.940 a huge element is that our politicians are financially divorced from the realities facing

00:33:02.140 their constituents right while you and yours struggled through coven 19 while the private sector

00:33:06.940 while workers lost their job took a pay cut maybe even lost their business in the private sector

00:33:11.820 remember our members of parliament gave themselves three pay raises so they're not feeling the same

00:33:17.500 type of economic pain that many of their constituents are feeling so i do believe that the fact that they

00:33:23.660 are so financially divorced from the realities of the people is is a major factor here outrageous and yet

00:33:30.700 again that's another example of why the phrase we're all in this together i think has overshadowed the

00:33:39.260 check is in the mail as the biggest lie ever uttered franco thank you so much you do fantastic work at

00:33:46.380 the canadian taxpayers federation and thank you for your time today

00:34:01.740 well folks lots of response to ezra levent's interview with keith wilson he's the lawyer that's

00:34:08.060 going to federal court to fight trudeau's suspended ban on unvaccinated travelers david

00:34:15.900 lundquist writes people's charter rights begin with the people themselves as citizens we have a

00:34:22.220 responsibility to know and understand the charter when we allow politicians to reinterpret our rights

00:34:30.780 and then we depend upon the courts to roll the politicians back we can end up in the situation where

00:34:37.980 we lose our rights entirely you know that's really well said david and i really believe in the past

00:34:44.140 two and a half years during this day and age of covet i think the real virus was politicians

00:34:51.260 at every political level of every political stripe stripping our rights away i think to me that was a far

00:35:01.340 more disturbing and debilitating virus than covet 19. and ash mac writes about the october 31st november

00:35:12.620 hearing october 31st really wow can i say demonic ritual i bet it's going to go bad on that day well

00:35:21.660 who knows time will tell let's just hope in keeping with the halloween theme that we're gonna end up with

00:35:28.140 more treats and less tricks for a change well folks that's the ezra levent show for tonight thank you so

00:35:35.740 much for tuning in ezra will be back tomorrow in the meantime as always stay sane pierre poliev won the

00:35:44.540 leadership of the conservative party of canada with proudly won 68 of the vote point the members have

00:35:53.500 spoken and the party is united but some sore losers don't like those results mp alain reyes is one of them

00:36:02.700 in quebec seven out of ten elect mps supported jean charret team when he announced his candidacy

00:36:13.820 most of them following the announcement of the poliev victory respect the members will and true

00:36:22.540 their support behind the new leader alain reyes is the mp for the riding of richmond

00:36:31.260 artabasca where i am at this moment alain reyes announced he will sit as an independent mp because

00:36:42.380 his guy charret didn't win but is that what the people of is writing won party member in is writing vote for

00:36:54.460 poiliev in the leadership vote don't they matter rice is acting like a liberal and it's not the first time

00:37:04.380 let's look at the previous bill c10 on internet censorship rise has in the house argue for more

00:37:13.580 censorship for this bill for him the liberals were not going far enough and fast enough he wanted something

00:37:22.540 more robust and wanted to talk about regulating social media this bill c10 an act to amend the

00:37:31.260 broadcasting act and to make related and consequential amendments to other acts is a significant piece

00:37:38.540 of legislation it's been long awaited for a long time the entire community has been waiting for changes

00:37:49.180 with the arrival of the internet and digital productions this legislation has not been changed in 28 years

00:38:00.940 there was the real report

00:38:05.180 and the idea is to have web giants covered by the canadian broadcasting act i think there's a consensus

00:38:15.020 among parties and stakeholders that the broadcasting act needs to be modernized and there's also a

00:38:22.460 consensus among many stakeholders and i'm convinced among the other opposition parties that the legislation

00:38:29.820 should have included web giants and social media and a number of other things we say that this was highly

00:38:39.020 awaited i think we were expecting a bit more this legislation should include things like print media they are having a hard time surviving

00:38:56.220 because of declining revenues this so-called conservative was arguing for more government intervention into what

00:39:04.940 we watch and see something a little more robust as i say so i'm i said he is no longer a conservative

00:39:15.100 no but the people of his writing should get to decide if they want an independent mp or something else

00:39:24.060 that's why today i'm launching a petition at reyes must resign.com petition to have mr reyes

00:39:32.620 step down from his position as a member of parliament so that people can choose whether they want to keep

00:39:40.780 him as an independent or elect a true conservative member of parliament who will protect the interests of

00:39:48.780 the citizen of richmond artabasca or maybe they want a liberal or ndp they should get that choice that's

00:39:58.700 democracy instead they have a sore loser making choice for them sign together via rice must resign.com so that

00:40:09.660 we can let him know how many people disagree with his under democratic pounding and we will deliver to him

00:40:18.060 elections are for citizens to nominate the person or group of people who will represent them

00:40:25.900 rice is undoing all that it's unfair people need to understand that alain reyes was the mayor of

00:40:32.780 victoriaville when in 2015 he decided to run as a mp for the riding of richmond artabasca during the cpc

00:40:42.220 leadership election pierre pollievre won of 53 percent of the vote against 42 percent for jean

00:40:49.980 in alain reyes writing lots of people were not agreeing with pierre pollievre views but the

00:40:59.020 writing has been won by pierre pollievre and that means the citizens of richmond artabasca wanted pollievre

00:41:06.620 pollievre to represent them alain reyes did not follow the will of his constituent

00:41:14.220 and it is why alain reyes should resign from his position as an mp make sure to sign our petition

00:41:22.860 while you're there for reben news quebec i'm alexa lavoix
