Rebel News Podcast - NEW undercover video of my interrogation by Elections Canada cops — for writing a book about Justin Trudeau

00:00:00.000 Hello, my Rebels. Today, I have one of the most exciting shows we've had in a while.

00:00:04.140 And I know I think every show's exciting, but this one, boy.

00:00:07.420 Well, first of all, we got Kian Bextie, who went up to the Wet'suwet'en First Nation.

00:00:11.360 That's a good interview. I think he's right on location.

00:00:13.780 I think you'll learn something from it.

00:00:15.240 But boy, oh boy, my monologue today, it's about Justin Trudeau's election commissioners

00:00:21.540 demanding my secret book notes.

00:00:25.820 Four times they've demanded it.

00:00:27.700 Today, I finally replied, and I'll tell you and I'll show you what I gave them.

00:00:34.840 Actually, if you're listening to the podcast, I guess you'll only hear it.

00:00:37.520 I want you to see it, too, because I gave them a document that speaks for itself, as they say.

00:00:56.260 And today, I got to tell you, you have to see what I sent them with your eyes.

00:01:01.780 You'll understand why in a moment.

00:01:03.560 Okay, here's today's podcast.

00:01:09.560 You're listening to our latest podcast.

00:01:11.840 Tonight, Justin Trudeau's elections police say, my time is up.

00:01:24.000 I have to give them my secret documents today.

00:01:27.300 I'll show you what I sent them.

00:01:29.080 It's March 3rd, and this is the Ezra LeVant Show.

00:01:31.740 Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?

00:01:37.600 There's 8,500 customers here, and you won't give them an answer.

00:01:41.660 The only thing I have to say to the government about why I'm publishing it is because it's my bloody right to do so.

00:01:47.540 Hello, my friends.

00:01:53.660 As you know, we've been battling against various censors, and the most brutal censor in Canada these days is Justin Trudeau and his cabinet.

00:02:03.060 As you know, Stephen Gilbeau, his heritage minister, who, by the way, is a convicted criminal and an environmental extremist.

00:02:10.540 Stephen Gilbeau intends to license journalists.

00:02:15.220 We've shown you that footage before.

00:02:17.240 Trudeau banned us from his election debates in October.

00:02:21.760 We had to go to federal court in one.

00:02:24.040 Well, as you know, his latest attack on us comes in the form of censoring my book about him, the Libranos.

00:02:31.500 And for the last two months, we've been fighting against an outrageous investigation of the Libranos by the election police, the commissioner of Elections Canada, who says it's an illegal campaign activity.

00:02:47.940 Well, today, I finally relented.

00:02:51.040 And after being demanded four times by the election commissioner for our internal notes and memos on the book, well, I finally sent them something.

00:03:03.040 Here is a video that I released to the world.

00:03:06.740 This isn't just behind the paywall today.

00:03:09.340 I want as many Canadians as possible to see it.

00:03:12.080 So we've uploaded this to YouTube, and I hope you'll understand why.

00:03:16.800 Take a look at this video, and then after that, join me for a conversation with Kian Bextie, who went up to Wet'suwet'en First Nations.

00:03:26.120 Take a look.

00:03:27.140 A few weeks ago, I released a hidden camera video that I secretly recorded of two cops interrogating me because I wrote a book that criticized their boss, Justin Trudeau.

00:03:38.160 It was nuts.

00:03:38.960 These were 30-year veterans of the Mounties, now working for Elections Canada, asking me weird questions like, why did I hire people at our news company who didn't like Trudeau?

00:03:50.020 All right, so moving forward.

00:03:53.580 So for the book, you seek volunteers that, and without going back to the tape to get the exact quote, that wanted to have a certain view on Trudeau and Gerald Butts,

00:04:12.300 and believed in free speech, and that were embarrassed by the Prime Minister Trudeau in blackface, and you saw that specific type of person.

00:04:22.520 Is that correct?

00:04:23.360 If you haven't seen the whole video yet, it's at SaveRebelNews.com, along with the letter I received from the Elections Commissioner back in December that started this investigation.

00:04:33.120 Anyways, I guess that hidden video was so shocking to Canadians, because more than half a million people watched it.

00:04:39.520 I thought for sure after we broadcast that, that Trudeau would be too embarrassed to continue.

00:04:44.860 I mean, who ever heard of police hauling in book authors for questioning in a small windowless room in a high-security government office like we were in China or something?

00:04:54.900 Who would do that?

00:04:56.380 There's a level of admiration I actually have for China, because their basic dictatorship.

00:05:05.980 Oh, right. Trudeau would do that. I guess this is going to turn out badly?

00:05:12.060 Well, after that interrogation, my free speech lawyers fired off a scorching letter to Elections Canada, demanding that they drop the investigation, and listing the legal reasons why.

00:05:23.320 You can read their letter at SaveRebelNews.com also.

00:05:26.220 My lawyers made a bunch of good points, ranging from the obvious, publishing a book during an election is not a crime, to pointing out sloppy police work.

00:05:35.560 The two cops failed to read me my constitutional rights before interrogating me.

00:05:40.320 In the States, that's called Miranda rights. In Canada, it's called a charter caution.

00:05:44.800 They just didn't do that.

00:05:46.780 There were other irregularities, too.

00:05:48.420 The cops refused to show me the complaint, or tell me who complained, or even tell me what was in the complaint.

00:05:54.340 So you won't tell me who the complaint is?

00:05:58.320 No, because the complainant is. Is that the secret?

00:05:59.940 Yeah, no, not at this point.

00:06:01.520 They just wouldn't tell me at all about the complaint, but for some reason, they had no problem telling pro-Trudeau reporters about the complaint.

00:06:10.240 That's so weird.

00:06:11.080 Now, I showed you most of the interrogation video that I filmed that day, but not all of it.

00:06:16.520 In fact, I don't think I showed you the worst part of it.

00:06:19.560 I've got three more clips I'll show you today, and then I'll show you a new letter that I received from these cops just yesterday.

00:06:29.180 And I'll show you my reply that I sent today.

00:06:33.140 I promise you will want to stick around for that.

00:06:35.980 So, just to refresh your memory, these cops refused to show me the complaint against me.

00:06:40.460 They refused to tell me who complained.

00:06:42.360 But this isn't my first run-in with Trudeau's bullies.

00:06:45.140 You might remember back in October, Trudeau's hand-picked Elections Debate Commission banned our rebel news journalists from attending the leaders' debates.

00:06:53.500 Just banned us.

00:06:54.780 So we immediately appealed to the Federal Court of Canada, and we won.

00:06:59.440 We asked for what's called a judicial review, and we won an emergency injunction.

00:07:04.240 A judicial review is just what it sounds like, a real judge in a real court looking over these insane decisions, reviewing them.

00:07:12.860 Crazy decisions made by Trudeau's hand-picked flunkey.

00:07:15.740 So, when I was being interrogated by these elections cops about my book, I told them that I was going to appeal whatever they did to a real judge in a real court.

00:07:26.360 So it was important that they keep all their records, all their notes, and not shred them or anything.

00:07:31.280 And I asked them to make me a promise that they wouldn't destroy the copy of the secret complaint they had, because surely the judge would want to see that.

00:07:41.320 So I asked them to undertake to disclose that key document, the complaint, when I take them to a real court.

00:07:49.480 And they simply refused.

00:07:50.940 Do you always hide the complaint from people you're investigating?

00:07:58.620 Yeah.

00:07:59.940 Oh my God.

00:08:02.140 We don't hide the complaint.

00:08:03.580 Complaints are what initiates the investigation to determine if the facts are actually what they are, and then the commissioner can make a decision in the end if, in fact, the act was preached or not.

00:08:14.400 Do you ever show the complaint to people you're investigating?

00:08:22.720 If there's a disclosure to go to court, the documents will be part of the disclosure package.

00:08:29.240 So you're saying right now that when this goes to court, the complaint will form part of the record that you disclosed?

00:08:36.520 Are you committing to that now?

00:08:37.780 Are you undertaking that?

00:08:38.800 In those cases that there actually is required disclosure.

00:08:42.900 Well, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Tim, look at you now correcting your buddy.

00:08:47.300 Let's have it the second time now, eh?

00:08:49.600 That's what I said.

00:08:51.340 Paul, I want an undertaking from you right now.

00:08:53.860 When we appeal this to judicial review, will you or will you not release the complaint?

00:09:01.400 We're far from being out of that state right now.

00:09:03.600 We're collecting facts.

00:09:05.080 How can I answer something that's perhaps in the future?

00:09:08.260 No, I can guarantee you, as long as I live and breathe, I will appeal anything from your office to judicial review.

00:09:17.620 And so I'm asking you to undertake right now to disclose any complaints.

00:09:23.060 And I say, Tim's in chicken as hell, no!

00:09:26.040 Well, no, because he has no authority to give back.

00:09:28.520 He has no authority.

00:09:29.220 Okay, do you, Tim?

00:09:30.320 No, I don't carry the authority for that.

00:09:32.020 So you're saying you won't.

00:09:33.960 You're saying you will not undertake, even when this thing goes to court.

00:09:37.040 You're not going to give us the complaint.

00:09:40.480 What country do you think you're living in?

00:09:42.780 What?

00:09:46.660 I can guarantee you that if these Trudeau book cops think they can ban my book, I will take them to court.

00:09:56.040 I mean, surely they know that about me by now.

00:09:58.200 And yet they wouldn't agree to preserve the key document.

00:10:02.340 They say they couldn't agree to that.

00:10:04.220 I think we need to go to court, don't you?

00:10:07.680 I think these cops need to be reminded by a real judge just what country they're in.

00:10:13.220 Hey, let me show you another weird moment on video.

00:10:15.660 It was near the end of the interrogation.

00:10:18.040 And I asked them if they had a copy of my book.

00:10:20.220 You know, the one they're investigating, the one they claim is illegal, the one they're asking me about.

00:10:26.740 And they said, no.

00:10:30.240 They didn't have it.

00:10:31.000 They hadn't read it.

00:10:31.660 They're investigating a book.

00:10:34.380 They say it's an illegal book.

00:10:36.940 And our promotion of that book is illegal.

00:10:40.300 But they've never actually even read it?

00:10:44.060 Do you guys have copies of the book?

00:10:45.240 Do you want me to autograph them?

00:10:46.460 No.

00:10:47.740 You know you don't have a copy?

00:10:48.680 Or no, you don't want an autograph?

00:10:51.740 Well, we don't have a book.

00:10:52.860 You don't have a book?

00:10:53.580 You don't have a book?

00:10:54.700 That thing's the bestseller.

00:10:55.840 I went to number two on Amazon.ca.

00:10:59.360 Do you want a copy of the book?

00:11:00.420 No, thanks.

00:11:00.880 How about you, Paul?

00:11:02.280 No, thanks.

00:11:02.820 You don't want a copy of the book?

00:11:04.800 I tell you, it's so more than the other 23 books combined about Trudeau.

00:11:10.680 You should read that.

00:11:17.840 No, you guys aren't readers.

00:11:19.160 You're more book burners, I guess. 0.72

00:11:20.300 What on earth is that tomfoolery?

00:11:23.120 That's weird.

00:11:24.040 And the refusal to agree that they disclose the complaint to us when we appeal to a court

00:11:28.900 is weird.

00:11:29.900 A judge is going to put these guys in their place for this.

00:11:32.360 So we were nearing the end of the interrogation.

00:11:34.700 And I was trying to figure out what's going to happen next.

00:11:37.000 I wasn't particularly cooperative with them.

00:11:39.420 Remember, I had asked these two cops what documents of mine they wanted.

00:11:44.840 They wouldn't give me their document, the complaint.

00:11:47.000 I said, what do you want from me?

00:11:48.200 It was sort of absurd.

00:11:49.420 They wouldn't tell me what they wanted from me, but they wanted it anyways.

00:11:54.000 Remember this?

00:11:54.540 What documents, if any, do you want from me?

00:12:00.360 At this point, I'm not sure.

00:12:02.000 We need to have a conversation to understand what your point of view was on the actual signs

00:12:07.800 and determine when they were actually produced and to what means.

00:12:16.520 And from there, we'll see later if you have any documentation that you want to provide us,

00:12:20.240 we'll be more than happy to accept whatever you want to provide.

00:12:23.980 That's pretty weird, eh?

00:12:25.540 So at the end of my interrogation, I asked these cops to make me a promise,

00:12:29.320 an undertaking, as it's called.

00:12:31.340 And I offered to make them an undertaking in return.

00:12:33.740 I said, if they decide to get any documents from me,

00:12:38.820 they should just ask me or my lawyers.

00:12:41.100 Don't raid our Rebel News offices like we're some Hells Angels clubhouse or something.

00:12:46.620 I follow the law.

00:12:47.940 If I don't like the law, I'll go to court to challenge it.

00:12:50.540 But I'm not going to flee to Mexico with my secret book notes about Trudeau or something.

00:12:57.180 Canada's not that bad yet.

00:12:59.000 I'll stay and fight.

00:13:00.420 So I said, hey, guys, can we agree that if you decide you want any particular documents from me,

00:13:05.880 just ask.

00:13:06.720 Don't smash down our doors.

00:13:08.740 Don't raid our office SWAT team style like I'm a terrorist.

00:13:12.080 And here's what they said.

00:13:14.880 If you do choose to subpoena things, just reach out to me with an email.

00:13:21.960 And I'll connect you to my free speech lawyers right away.

00:13:24.620 So no need to serve me.

00:13:26.600 Like, I'll accept service.

00:13:27.720 I'll just flip it to my lawyer.

00:13:29.040 And he'll accept service right away to speed that process up.

00:13:32.660 Because if that happens, I want to get rolling super fast, guys.

00:13:36.080 And any communication will be done by the lead investigator.

00:13:38.180 Okay, and who's that?

00:13:41.180 Milene Jijoux?

00:13:42.300 No, on the left.

00:13:42.920 Oh, Laura Panetone? 0.96

00:13:45.280 Louise?

00:13:46.420 Louise.

00:13:47.460 Louise Panetone.

00:13:49.040 I keep thinking Peloton when I look at her name.

00:13:51.820 All right, so if she has anything to say, she'll send me an email.

00:13:56.620 Is that what you're saying?

00:13:57.280 That's fair.

00:13:58.080 Okay.

00:13:58.320 So if she does, but please pass on to her that if there's any subpoenas or orders like that, just flip them to me in my email.

00:14:06.800 And I'll, because I want my lawyers to respond to that.

00:14:09.560 So no search and destroy rigs, no SWAT style bust down the door rigs, Phyllis.

00:14:17.540 Do we have an agreement on that?

00:14:22.980 You're not going to be directed.

00:14:24.320 Tim, I'm saying if you need something from me, if you need documents.

00:14:27.420 If we need something from you, we're going to reach out to you.

00:14:29.380 So, okay, so you're undertaking right now that you will not raid rebel offices without notice to me in advance.

00:14:36.860 Are you undertaking that now?

00:14:38.980 As I said before, we can't undertake you.

00:14:40.560 You're the investigator, Tim, and you're saying you will not undertake to me that if you want a document, you'll email me instead of breaking down the door with a warrant.

00:14:51.220 Is that, you will not give me that undertaking here, Tim?

00:14:53.860 I don't think anyone's going to break down the door.

00:14:55.660 I didn't ask you if you thought they would.

00:14:57.340 I asked you to undertake not to.

00:14:58.980 You won't undertake not to raid the offices of Rebel News.

00:15:12.540 Do you know the country you're in, Paul?

00:15:16.620 You call in an author.

00:15:18.640 He says, if you want a document, send me an email and we'll send it to the lawyers.

00:15:23.180 Don't do a raid on my offices and you won't give me that undertaking.

00:15:26.000 You guys need an attitude readjustment from the highest court in the land, and I swear, as God is my witness, you will get one.

00:15:37.800 They wouldn't make me that promise.

00:15:40.340 They said they didn't think they would raid our offices, but they wouldn't rule it out.

00:15:46.320 They wouldn't promise it wouldn't happen.

00:15:49.000 Now, what are the odds of them doing a SWAT team raid on our office?

00:15:52.720 I mean, they're not that crazy, are they?

00:15:54.800 And you heard that one cop.

00:15:56.680 He didn't think it would happen, but he refused to rule it out.

00:16:02.240 So maybe I was just being a bit paranoid.

00:16:05.320 Then again, I would never have thought that a book author would be interrogated for an hour about his book.

00:16:12.800 So maybe it's not that paranoid to ask them not to smash into my office and scare all our staff.

00:16:19.420 And like I said, I had my lawyers send them a stern letter a few weeks ago.

00:16:24.300 So I sort of thought we were done this whole thing, that they had given up this whole insane investigation of me.

00:16:30.800 I thought they're done.

00:16:32.220 I thought they're not even going to proceed against me.

00:16:34.240 They would just go away quietly.

00:16:35.360 And the idea that they would do some sort of raid on our office for documents, come on, that's just nuts.

00:16:43.020 All my worries about this were being overblown, exaggerated.

00:16:46.000 No way they're going to keep on going.

00:16:48.380 No way they'd ever consider a raid.

00:16:51.180 But then my lawyers got this email from them just yesterday morning about my documents.

00:17:00.980 Considering we have not received any documents from your client,

00:17:03.960 we understand that your client does not intend on submitting documents to the Office of the Commissioner of Canada Elections.

00:17:09.520 Should this not be the case, please advise as soon as possible.

00:17:12.520 Regards, Louise Panetton.

00:17:15.280 As soon as possible, she says.

00:17:17.160 Right after I released my first video, they sent my lawyers a letter asking for my documents by the end of February.

00:17:25.900 We ignored it, thinking they were going to go away.

00:17:28.940 But their deadline arrived.

00:17:30.440 The end of February was over the weekend, you'll recall.

00:17:33.420 So first thing Monday morning, they sent a terse email demanding to know if I was going to hand over documents or not.

00:17:39.740 Right now, as soon as possible, she said.

00:17:41.940 Or else.

00:17:43.520 Or else what?

00:17:44.680 Okay.

00:17:45.080 So if she does, but please pass on to her that if there's any subpoenas or orders like that, just flip them to me in my email.

00:17:53.860 Because I want my lawyers to respond to that.

00:17:56.400 So no search and destroy raids.

00:18:00.200 No SWAT style bust down the door raids, Phyllis. 0.96

00:18:04.360 Do we have an agreement on that?

00:18:05.340 I think they're serious. 0.98

00:18:11.520 I think they're crazy.

00:18:13.260 But I think they're serious.

00:18:15.160 If I don't hand over all my author's notes, all my editorial research on Trudeau, all of my plans for the book.

00:18:21.600 They specifically ask for my book plans.

00:18:24.260 I think they're going to prosecute me.

00:18:27.900 I think they might subpoena my editorial notes.

00:18:31.100 But the sound of that letter, as soon as possible, sounds like they're out of patience.

00:18:36.740 I worried about this.

00:18:39.080 That's why I asked them not to raid our offices.

00:18:40.960 I asked them to promise just to email me or my lawyers about it or serve us a subpoena that we would fight in court.

00:18:46.360 But don't raid us, please.

00:18:47.920 But they wouldn't make that promise.

00:18:50.600 So I'm between a rock and a hard place now.

00:18:52.660 Either I hand over our internal private notes from my book, violating my freedoms and my privacy as a Canadian,

00:19:01.540 or they attack me at best through the courts and at worst through a raid on our physical offices, maybe even on my home.

00:19:12.560 Part of me thinks I should be scared. 1.00

00:19:14.260 But part of me thinks this whole thing is a stupid joke. 0.99

00:19:18.740 I mean, we're still in Canada, right? 1.00

00:19:20.760 This must be a joke, right?

00:19:24.000 So after thinking about it, I asked our lawyers to respond to the cops for me just one more time.

00:19:32.320 I asked my lawyers to buy me a little bit of time, buy me one more day.

00:19:36.380 I told my lawyers that I had decided that, in fact, I would be giving them a key private document to Trudeau's election investigators.

00:19:50.700 Just one page, our editorial strategy document that reveals everything.

00:19:57.440 And so I did.

00:20:01.660 I sent our key document to Trudeau's cops today, by email, five minutes before publishing this video, in fact.

00:20:12.100 It was illegal for them to ask, why should I have to participate in their kangaroo court?

00:20:16.800 Why should I have to tell Trudeau's cops my plans for my book?

00:20:20.080 Give them my notes.

00:20:21.080 But if I didn't, they might literally break down our door.

00:20:28.820 So here's what I sent them.

00:20:30.120 I sent this to them.

00:20:37.780 I swear I did.

00:20:40.020 I swear I did.

00:20:41.440 It's a joke.

00:20:43.660 Just like Trudeau's a joke.

00:20:45.420 Just like Trudeau's debates commission is a joke.

00:20:47.780 Just like Trudeau's election cops are a joke.

00:20:50.240 Just like Trudeau's respect for the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is a joke.

00:20:53.740 And just like Canada's so-called civil liberty groups are a joke.

00:20:56.880 Not one of them fights for free speech anymore, at least not for conservatives like me.

00:21:00.620 So this is it.

00:21:01.360 This is my top secret plan for my book.

00:21:04.420 It's a cartoon. 1.00

00:21:05.660 So Trudeau can understand it, the moron. 1.00

00:21:08.460 The guy wearing the marijuana shirt with the cool hair, that's Trudeau. 0.99

00:21:13.240 You can see the strategy document up close for yourself at SaveRebelNews.com if you want.

00:21:18.120 There's me with my book.

00:21:19.380 And there's our lawn signs.

00:21:20.380 There's our master plan.

00:21:21.600 But it's top secret.

00:21:22.620 Don't tell anyone.

00:21:23.960 What?

00:21:24.700 What? 0.99

00:21:24.920 Did you actually think I was going to hand over my editorial notes to these clowns and 0.99

00:21:30.880 bullies? 0.99

00:21:32.840 I would go to jail first.

00:21:34.600 And you know what?

00:21:35.160 Maybe I'll have to.

00:21:36.360 But not without the fight of my life first.

00:21:39.180 It's about to get real now.

00:21:40.820 As soon as possible, they said.

00:21:43.240 Now we've taken some steps here at Rebel News to protect our assets from illegal raids.

00:21:47.280 I am ready to fight.

00:21:48.680 I think I'm going to need your help on this one.

00:21:50.660 I think it's time to hand the big fight over to the lawyers a little more seriously than

00:21:55.380 the cartoon.

00:21:57.020 I'm using the same two young lawyers who crushed Trudeau at that federal court last October

00:22:02.480 when the debate commission tried to censor us.

00:22:05.080 Aaron and David, you've met them before.

00:22:07.240 Trudeau sent five government lawyers against them.

00:22:10.220 Burnt up $131,000 in taxpayers' money.

00:22:13.400 And it still wasn't even close.

00:22:14.780 Our guys crushed them.

00:22:15.980 David and Aaron are handling this file now, too.

00:22:18.760 So I think we're going to win.

00:22:21.220 Except this time we're up against a much bigger monster, bigger budget, and a deeper anger.

00:22:27.140 I'm not sure if I told you this, but last year, my book, The Libranos, it reached number

00:22:31.500 two on the Amazon.ca list, bestsellers.

00:22:35.460 But then it faded a bit.

00:22:38.000 But after I broadcast my hidden camera video of their interrogation of me, that book finally

00:22:43.280 shot up to number one, the number one bestselling book in Canada.

00:22:49.720 Crooked Trudeau tried to silence me.

00:22:52.300 He actually got more people to read the book than ever.

00:22:56.720 That's why Trudeau has five investigators on this case that we know about.

00:23:01.560 There are probably more.

00:23:02.440 But you know what?

00:23:04.280 We're going to win.

00:23:05.320 And we're going to uproot and overturn this unconstitutional law in the process.

00:23:10.440 I just need your help to cover my legal bills.

00:23:12.580 Please go to the SaveRebelNews.com.

00:23:15.980 Look, this is heavy stuff.

00:23:18.400 Free speech is in jeopardy.

00:23:20.080 Police are bullying authors.

00:23:22.240 There are illegal searches and seizures in the wind.

00:23:25.600 The rest of the media party is staying silent.

00:23:27.940 They've all been paid off by Trudeau's media bailout.

00:23:30.800 So it's up to us now.

00:23:33.600 Help me do this serious work.

00:23:35.400 And then have a laugh with me.

00:23:36.760 Have a laugh with me.

00:23:37.620 Because if we don't have the right to laugh, what's left?

00:23:41.740 We still do have that right.

00:23:43.360 You can download a free copy of my top secret one-page strategy document right there on the page at SaveRebelNews.com.

00:23:52.960 I think it's pretty funny.

00:23:54.680 And you've got to laugh.

00:23:57.500 My friends, now let's go and fight and win.

00:23:59.220 My name's Kean.

00:24:11.600 I'm with Rebel News.

00:24:12.420 We're doing a story on your negotiations with Carolyn Bennett.

00:24:14.900 Uh, no, I'm interested.

00:24:16.280 Could you tell me who is paying you to do these negotiations?

00:24:20.660 Could you tell me how you managed to steal a matriarchal name, Chief Wu's? 1.00

00:24:24.720 How'd you steal that name?

00:24:25.800 It was a year ago today.

00:24:26.740 How'd you steal it?

00:24:32.260 Fair questions.

00:24:33.640 Questions not asked by a single member of the media party over the last week,

00:24:38.860 as Justin Trudeau's cabinet minister has negotiated with that man there.

00:24:43.460 Chief Wu's isn't his name.

00:24:44.940 His name is Frank Alec.

00:24:46.080 He's an Indian industry lifer.

00:24:49.180 And by that, I mean the industry that springs up around constant negotiations,

00:24:54.920 hassles, conferences, where billions of dollars of money gets funneled towards consultants

00:25:01.820 rather than actually helping Aboriginal people.

00:25:04.900 That's Frank Alec.

00:25:05.900 But he calls himself Chief Wu's.

00:25:07.660 And the media party, in a burst of political correctness, repeats that name.

00:25:12.880 Carolyn Bennett meets with him even though he represents no one legally.

00:25:18.440 He is not a real chief under the Indian Act.

00:25:22.340 And as Kean's question implied, he wrested that honorary title away from women.

00:25:30.020 And it is a matrilineal chief system. 1.00

00:25:33.600 That is, it's passed from grandmother to daughter to granddaughter.

00:25:38.400 As you can see, Frank Alec is none of those things.

00:25:41.840 Joining us now from Burns Lake is our friend Kean Bextie.

00:25:46.120 Kean, great reporting.

00:25:47.880 How did you find Frank Alec in our vast north?

00:25:52.300 It was a lot of waiting and a little bit of luck.

00:25:59.040 But the researchers that we have at Rebel News helped me sort of wheel down his location to the general town.

00:26:06.940 And then I just figured he had to fill up with fuel eventually.

00:26:10.240 Even if he doesn't support a pipeline, he's still got to fill up his truck.

00:26:13.480 And I was right.

00:26:14.560 So he eventually came to the gas station.

00:26:16.240 And that's where I was able to ask him a few questions.

00:26:18.840 Now, he didn't answer anything.

00:26:20.860 I think he is not used to being asked any questions other than, how wonderful are you?

00:26:28.220 You asked him questions going to his taking of that title away from the actual hereditary chiefs.

00:26:35.040 And also, who's directing him?

00:26:37.100 Who's paying him?

00:26:38.460 As we know, he has a consulting firm.

00:26:42.200 He hasn't disclosed who his clients are, though, has he?

00:26:47.020 No, he has a consulting firm that he's operated for about seven years.

00:26:51.320 And we're not totally sure who is covering his costs.

00:26:56.120 We're not sure who's paying him to handle these negotiations with Carolyn Bennett.

00:27:00.640 We don't really understand anything about his motivations.

00:27:03.880 Because not only do we not know what this agreement entails, nobody has been told.

00:27:08.100 The Canadian public hasn't been told.

00:27:09.380 And even people within the community so far, these clans that I've talked to personally, they haven't been told either.

00:27:15.280 So nobody knows what's going on except for the Trudeau government and this Frank Alec guy who seems to be the least qualified person in the world to be overseeing these negotiations with the government.

00:27:26.980 Yeah, it's really incredible.

00:27:28.400 Now, many years ago, I was a consultant.

00:27:31.220 And you get very clear instructions.

00:27:33.880 What are your goals?

00:27:35.140 What are your achievements?

00:27:36.300 What are your deliverables, as they say?

00:27:38.840 And you get paid to do them.

00:27:40.660 If we don't even know who Frank Alec's client is, let alone what his goals are, we don't know who he's operating for.

00:27:49.480 But we do have one interesting fact that you published the other day.

00:27:54.380 The Tides Foundation, and you mentioned also the Pembina Institute, they pay this fake First Nations office.

00:28:03.440 It's not an actual First Nation Indian band under the Indian Act.

00:28:07.380 It's a registered corporation.

00:28:09.220 They take money in from Tides and Pembina.

00:28:13.360 I wonder if Frank Alec is actually getting his instructions from the Tides Foundation in San Francisco, from Pembina, from Sapporo Berman, and Stand Earth, which are based in the States.

00:28:27.780 I don't think anyone's even asked.

00:28:29.760 And I'm pretty sure Carolyn Bennett and Trudeau haven't even asked, unless they know and they're fine with it.

00:28:38.100 Yeah, you're right.

00:28:39.220 The organization rakes in tens of thousands of dollars every month from, I believe it's monthly, or maybe it was annual financial statements we're looking at.

00:28:50.140 They rake in a lot of capital from these foreign entities, including Forrest Ethics, actually.

00:28:55.620 So I wouldn't be surprised if he's speaking with Sapporo Berman.

00:28:58.900 And you're right.

00:28:59.540 We don't know who is ordering him, where his negotiation is coming from.

00:29:06.100 What are his asks?

00:29:07.240 What does he want?

00:29:07.880 Is it OPEC?

00:29:08.780 Is it any other foreign entity?

00:29:10.660 We have no idea, because unlike a regular elected official, he has no accountability whatsoever.

00:29:16.540 And I mean, the people in this community, the people in the five clans of the Wet'suwet'en, I think they expect some sort of accountability.

00:29:25.080 But the problem is this guy has had this hereditary title for a year, a really weirdly acquired hereditary title.

00:29:31.680 So his ability to consult with the people of the community is much less than what the ability of the original Chief Woos would have been, who's still in Smithers, B.C., still living in the community.

00:29:49.340 She still claims that she's the Chief Woos, and she's regularly consulting with the people of the community through that coalition that her and her female peers created.

00:30:00.840 They were using that coalition so that they could talk about important, contentious issues in the community.

00:30:06.940 But when it comes to this new, newly minted Chief Woos, there's no intention to do that whatsoever.

00:30:12.640 He's just sort of going his own way, doing what he wants, and acting like he represents the people of this area.

00:30:18.440 Yeah, it's extremely strange.

00:30:21.140 It's costly to live in the north.

00:30:24.780 You know, you talked about filling up with gas.

00:30:26.680 Nothing is close by.

00:30:28.080 It's expensive to get fresh fruit and vegetables up there.

00:30:31.320 I'm shocked when I look at prices in grocery stores up there.

00:30:35.580 A fellow's got to earn a living.

00:30:38.020 And the Tides Foundation has sort of gamed that system.

00:30:41.560 They know that for 50 grand here, 100 grand there, occasionally they pay six or seven figures.

00:30:47.420 They can lock up local politicians in a way that would be a huge scandal if they were paying money to MPs.

00:30:57.460 I remember I did a story a while back of the Tides Foundation sending, I think it was 55 grand,

00:31:02.460 to an Alberta Indian chief named Chief Alan Adam.

00:31:06.480 Just 55 grand, boom, into a corporation of which he's a director.

00:31:11.420 And that would be resignation material for an MP.

00:31:14.540 We don't even know what the facts are.

00:31:17.000 There's no disclosure for this fake chief woos. 1.00

00:31:20.140 Let me throw one more thing at you because I'm just thinking about this as we talk.

00:31:24.380 The idea of passing down title from mother to daughter to granddaughter may seem unusual.

00:31:30.020 And it is in our democratic system.

00:31:31.660 Of course, our queen, you know, that's a hereditary monarchy. 1.00

00:31:35.420 She'll pass it to Prince Charles and then to Prince William.

00:31:39.480 But our English system of law, you can leave your property, you can bequeath it to all your children,

00:31:47.320 or there's actually a kind of property ownership that you can bequeath to male heirs or female heirs.

00:31:54.480 So it is a thing in other systems, too, besides what to attain, but you have to be born into it.

00:32:02.700 That's what puzzles me.

00:32:04.080 And maybe that's something you can do in your investigations up there, Kian,

00:32:07.580 is I understand how a hereditary chieftain, being a hereditary chief, could go from mother to daughter to granddaughter.

00:32:16.040 I get that.

00:32:17.200 How does it switch genders and switch families? 1.00

00:32:22.320 How can you suddenly say, oh, you're the hereditary chief when he didn't inherit it?

00:32:25.900 He's not the son or grandson of the people he took it from.

00:32:30.380 I don't even get that.

00:32:31.680 And I'm pretty sure Carolyn Bennett doesn't get it either.

00:32:34.400 But at least we have some curiosity and we want some accountability.

00:32:39.000 Yeah, you're right.

00:32:40.120 Carolyn Bennett doesn't seem to care. 0.99

00:32:41.440 She doesn't seem to know what's going on at all.

00:32:43.140 Actually, I'm sure you saw that video of her stumbling after she left that meeting. 0.67

00:32:47.840 I don't know how she managed to get completely steamrolled in these negotiations by someone who thinks the earth is flat like Frank Alec does.

00:32:56.280 And I also don't know how Frank Alec managed to abduct this title that is intended for women away from this matrilineal line that it was going down.

00:33:06.600 So I'm going to try and get to the bottom of it and figure it out.

00:33:09.180 And I'll be up in the area here for a while doing that.

00:33:13.640 Yeah.

00:33:13.820 Well, listen, I'm so glad that you're up there.

00:33:15.480 Thank you for doing that.

00:33:17.200 Folks who want to chip in to help cover our costs to get keen up there, hotel, booting around up there, flights, go to endtheblockades.com.

00:33:27.440 End, E-N-D, theblockades.com. 0.99

00:33:29.100 I want to show that quick clip of Carolyn Bennett.

00:33:31.520 I showed it on my program also.

00:33:32.840 I know you've showed it before.

00:33:33.660 If you think that Joe Biden is incoherent and mumbly, well, let me show you someone who makes Joe Biden look positively Churchillian.

00:33:43.220 Here's a clip of Carolyn Bennett coming out of a negotiation with Frank Alec, a.k.a. Chief Woos.

00:33:49.960 Take a look at this.

00:33:50.840 We, I believe, have come to a proposed arrangement that will also honor the protocols of the Wissotan people and clans.

00:34:09.180 And obviously that what we've worked on this weekend needs to go back to those clans.

00:34:15.360 And then we have agreed that as ministers we will come back to sign if it is agreed upon by the nation.

00:34:28.640 Oh, my God, Kian.

00:34:30.360 We are not going to have our Canadian interests defended by Carolyn Bennett.

00:34:34.260 I'm not even kidding when I say we're relying on you to get the kind of facts and information that we're not getting from the Trudeau government.

00:34:42.720 Yeah, absolutely.

00:34:43.660 And I'm happy to do it.

00:34:44.840 These facts are just waiting here to be found.

00:34:47.280 There's one other mainstream media journalist that I keep crossing paths with here up in northern B.C. from Global.

00:34:52.900 But that's pretty much the only one.

00:34:55.100 There's no interest in the mainstream media to get this story right.

00:34:58.440 So I'm going to try to get that done.

00:35:00.960 Yeah, well, let me leave you with some possible questions.

00:35:02.720 Who is his client?

00:35:04.560 Who is Frank Alec's client?

00:35:06.540 How much is he getting paid?

00:35:08.520 What is his mandate?

00:35:10.260 What are his deliverables?

00:35:12.360 Who is he consulting with?

00:35:14.180 Who is he briefing?

00:35:15.740 You and I as mere Canadian citizens have been kept in the dark about the negotiations.

00:35:21.200 Is he briefing foreigners like Sephora Berman or people at Tides or even people at OPEC?

00:35:27.060 Who is he leaking information to?

00:35:29.100 And finally, what do real Indians in the real bands, the real chiefs and councils who have been marginalized and shut out by Carolyn Bennett, what do they say?

00:35:40.500 I think that's almost a week's worth of work right there, Kian.

00:35:42.900 Yeah, it'll take some time.

00:35:45.640 All right.

00:35:45.960 Good luck up there.

00:35:47.500 Thanks.

00:35:48.200 There you go.

00:35:48.780 Kian Bexty in northern B.C.

00:35:51.620 The CBC prefers to do its journalism from its Toronto headquarters.

00:35:55.640 Listen, I live in Toronto myself.

00:35:58.280 But sometimes to get the news, you have to go to it, especially if you're trying to find out who exactly is this Mr. Alec.

00:36:06.160 Stay with us.

00:36:07.860 Your final, your letters to me ahead.

00:36:09.620 Well, what do you think of today's show?

00:36:21.520 I felt pretty good about it.

00:36:22.540 First of all, I feel great that Kian is doing real shoe leather journalism on the ground, waiting, finding.

00:36:29.480 He was a bit of a private detective in a way to find out where that fake chief was.

00:36:33.960 I thought he did a good job.

00:36:35.020 But what do you think about my main news today that, yeah, we'll give our internal editorial notes about Trudeau to Trudeau over my dead body?

00:36:46.140 What do you think of that funny little top-secret cartoon?

00:36:49.280 That's my way of saying I don't bend the knee to government censors.
