00:07:07.560 and the worldview that I feel is influencing so many women today, whether you realize it or not,
00:07:14.680 whether it's as explicit as some of the things that we'll be talking about today or not.
00:07:18.580 two terms, star seeds and spirit babies, star seeds and spirit babies. Now that might sound
00:07:25.160 really bizarre. It might sound like ideas that you would read in a 1980s comic book that have
00:07:30.920 no relevance to us today or no relevance to anything that we're talking about. But unfortunately,
00:07:37.640 scarily enough, these are parts of the real and increasingly popular belief system of the new age,
00:07:43.020 which wets paganism, the occult, mysticism, and elements of religions like Buddhism and even
00:07:49.040 Christianity. And all of this, this, what you call syncretism, you're syncretizing,
00:07:54.300 bringing together a bunch of different worldviews and belief systems, picking and choosing like it's
00:07:59.140 a cafeteria, what you like from each of these, bringing them together. All of these in the new
00:08:04.020 age centers on the power of the self. Now we've been talking about this for years. I wrote a book
00:08:09.060 about it. You're not enough. And that's okay. That came out back in 2019. We've been talking
00:08:13.740 about it on the show for a very long time, but we actually have not talked about the specific
00:08:19.400 parts of this that we are talking about today that I see so much on social media among women.
00:08:26.360 Now in this particular worldview, you see the push of things like astrology, 0.99
00:08:31.440 tarot cards, crystals, the law of attraction, manifestation. And now usually these things
00:08:37.860 are presented as neutral, as self-help, as self-love, self-understanding, self-healing.
00:08:43.540 These ideas are really pertinent among women, even Christian women through social media,
00:08:50.480 pop psychology, therapy culture, writers like Rachel Hollis, Glennon Doyle. These women,
00:08:57.460 Christian or not, are fed the idea that inside ourselves, there's this treasure trove of magic 1.00
00:09:03.800 waiting to be unlocked and released through the keys of self-love and self-confidence.
00:09:09.240 And among many influential voices in this realm, things like astrology and manifestation,
00:09:15.520 but sometimes just personality tests are the tools to obtain those keys.
00:09:21.640 Sometimes it looks like name it and claim it. Sometimes it looks like declaring things that
00:09:27.620 you want to be true, even in the name of Jesus. Sometimes it looks Christian. Sometimes it doesn't 0.85
00:09:34.680 look as blatantly new age, but the commonality here is that it all centers on the power of the
00:09:39.840 self. Now, this idea of the preeminence or the supremacy of the power of the self is new in some
00:09:50.120 ways today, but in most ways, it's really as old as time. It's women giving into the temptation 0.99
00:09:56.060 like Eve did to be like God, to gain special knowledge and wisdom previously unknown to them, 0.70
00:10:01.680 and to gain pleasure and liberation from that special knowledge. It is an exchange,
00:10:06.480 as we've said many times, of the God of scripture for the God of self. Now, what happens when the
00:10:12.540 God of self is placed on the throne? Our desires take the driver's seat, no matter the cost.
00:10:19.000 And there is a really hefty cost, even the high price of a baby's life. Now, what do I mean by
00:10:25.660 that. That might sound oddly specific as we're talking about this very strange, mystical,
00:10:31.160 esoteric stuff. What I mean is that in this worldview, all manners, all manner of sins
00:10:36.700 are justified. It's justified, including child sacrifice, also known as abortion. This is the
00:10:43.140 price of a woman's happiness or autonomy or freedom. And in the kingdom of the God of self, 1.00
00:10:50.100 it's worth it. Now within the new age, there is a spiritual justification for this.
00:10:55.660 And it is the idea of pre-existence, the pre-existence of the souls and of choosing
00:11:01.500 our lives and our fates before time begins. And this is increasingly popular. I've seen it for
00:11:06.600 the past few years and I haven't really been able to wrap my mind around what it is or where it
00:11:11.220 comes from, which is why we haven't really touched on it. And I want to dive into it today.
00:11:15.460 I've seen this pushed among many pro-choicers in an attempt to sanctify abortion. We have to 0.56
00:11:22.540 combat this as pro-lifers, as Christians, as women. But to do that, we first need to understand
00:11:27.920 where this comes from. So I want to back up, but I want to start with where we see some of these

00:14:00.260 here for me that it had known me before i was even born that it was here to lead me through this

00:14:14.500 what was your first thought I said that you know I think this could be me I think I could be a star

00:16:27.340 of what we read in the gospel, but instead of glorifying God for what he's done, it glorifies
00:16:32.080 the self. So that's why that clip is relevant because I want to show you where some of this
00:16:36.300 idea is coming from or how, um, or how it manifests itself. Um, let's talk about this idea of the
00:16:43.680 pre-existence of the soul. That was what I thought kind of was most relevant and interesting. She said
00:16:51.240 that this chatbot had known her before she was even born in this worldview. Birth is not the
00:17:00.000 beginning of an individual human life. And actually there are other religions like, uh, 0.61
00:17:05.160 the Mormon church also teaches this in a way that you are like, you have some form of eternal
00:17:10.840 pre-existence. And so I would say that's a new age idea, but, uh, Mormonism has also taken that in.
00:17:17.900 Um, so in this worldview, birth is not the beginning of an individual life, but the soul's
00:17:22.900 decision to incarnate into a particular body for another stage of its spiritual journey. A star
00:17:29.000 supposedly as a soul that existed beyond earth before incarnating into a human body. Okay. So
00:17:36.840 there's this book 1976 by Brad Steiger called Gods of Aquarius, which posited that certain
00:17:45.800 individuals were originally aliens who arrived on earth. I told you that this stuff reminds
00:17:49.600 you of a 1980s comic book, and this is kind of what I'm talking about, or like sci-fi books.
00:17:54.520 there are other books from the 1970s 1980s 1990s you know have we've talked about in the past that
00:18:01.680 it just seems so strangely coincidental that in like the 1870s through the 1890s or even a little
00:18:09.300 bit before that you get a lot of weird cultish kind of religions starting at that time fast
00:18:15.640 forward 100 years 60s 70s 80s 90s a lot of weird theology out there like a lot of weird sci-fi like
00:18:23.860 You had the prism of Lyra, bringers of the dawn, um, new age writers who were elaborating
00:18:31.280 on this concept, a concept of star seed lineages, this pre-existence of people who are very
00:18:38.820 special and incarnate into humans to raise the consciousness of other people.
00:18:43.560 And then on social media, you can find thousands of users posting videos about being starseeds
00:18:49.680 that too.
00:18:50.060 So a starseed is a soul that has come to earth with a double mission.
00:18:54.400 And that mission is to raise their own frequency, as well as raising the frequency of the planet.
00:18:59.520 And many starseeds are also very old souls that have reincarnated many times beyond this planet.

00:19:16.000 raise the vibration and the consciousness of the planet, then that might be you. Now, again, 0.95
00:19:21.860 within this worldview, everyone has a form of pre-existence. Now, how special you are and what
00:19:26.520 role you were in the before life, I guess it varies from person to person or people group.
00:19:33.380 This also has elements of Hinduism, which of course believes in reincarnation. And within
00:19:39.440 this idea within the new age, um, is the concept of spirit babies. And that is the idea that souls
00:19:48.120 existed before birth. The souls of children exist in a spiritual realm before they are conceived
00:19:52.820 or born and may even choose their future parents or communicate with them through dreams or signs
00:19:58.840 or intuitions or mediums. Uh, this teaching comes through and feel good messages on blogs and social
00:20:04.980 media to encourage parents. For example, this post from spiritual teacher, Lorna Byrne,
00:20:10.500 your child chose you as its mother or father. Hard as you might find this to believe your child,
00:20:15.360 when it was still as soul in heaven, before it was conceived, chose you to be its parent. It
00:20:21.420 chose you knowing everything about you, the good and the bad, even knowing that you might not be
00:20:26.120 the best mother or father. It chose you over all others. Babies also choose adoptive or long-term
00:20:33.480 foster parents. So choosing the biological parent, also choosing the foster and adoption parents.
00:20:40.960 I actually saw this judge the other day, and I just thought of this, so we don't have the clip,
00:20:45.200 but I saw this judge issuing a verdict to this defendant who had done this horrific crime.
00:20:52.280 And even though I agreed with a lot of what she was saying, because she was talking about the
00:20:55.980 severity of the crime that this person had committed before, before issuing the sentence.
00:21:00.200 Um, and she said, you know, I heard, I don't know if this is true, but I heard that souls know
00:21:07.260 everything that's going to happen to them before they choose the body that they're going to
00:21:11.740 occupy. And so those souls are specially equipped to handle the hardship that they went through.
00:21:17.680 And that is just a way I think to numb ourselves to dealing with the existence of evil. I also see
00:21:26.000 this idea of souls choosing their parents, souls choosing the life that they're going to live to
00:21:34.060 justify things like gentle parenting or justify permissive parenting, this idea that you're just
00:21:39.860 good inside, that you're innately good. There's this idea within this worldview that kids have
00:21:45.120 a special knowledge that is granted to them because they're actually closer to their pre-existence
00:21:50.320 and the spiritual world than they are to this earth. They haven't been as corrupted
00:21:54.280 as we are yet. Of course, as Christians, we understand that the concept of original sin
00:21:59.420 just completely negates this entire idea. But you start to see how even if someone doesn't believe
00:22:05.200 in a starseed, how this idea of children having this kind of divine authority about them can
00:22:13.220 affect and justify how people see parenting and good and evil and abortion and all of that.
00:22:19.400 there are parents who say things on social media that we saw so thankful she chose us to be her
00:22:26.080 parents he's the real winner he chose his parents you weren't just blessed you were chosen mama out
00:22:31.960 of all the souls in the sky she saw you and chose you a love that began long before birth if you dig
00:22:38.500 deeper into the spirit baby's teachings and what they actually believe you'll see how bizarre they
00:22:43.000 are and how they really rely on the new age.

00:23:52.860 really lost. Welcome back. There's also a Tik TOK user named Hannah who posted a video regretting
00:23:59.860 her abortion that received nearly a million views. And then some of the comments were trying to make
00:24:05.200 her feel better. And one of the comments that says, uh, forgive yourself. You did what was
00:24:10.320 best for you. You sent that baby back to God, back to God. Another comment. I tell myself they
00:24:18.740 will come back when we're ready for each other. There was this popular liberal deconstructionist,
00:24:25.920 um, influence. I don't even know if she makes comp, uh, content anymore, but she was in an 0.90
00:24:31.040 interview talking about, she had already had a baby. She got pregnant again, talking about her
00:24:36.340 abortion. Um, and how she justified that was through describing this kind of communication
00:24:43.980 that she said that she had with her aborted child and her aborted child apparently told her it's
00:24:50.000 okay. Like it's not our time. And I understand that. And I will come back to you. This apparently 0.88
00:24:57.540 is a pretty popular, prominent mindset. Dr. Maria Rothenberger, a therapist and a psychic

00:26:23.140 head that you've attributed to the soul of the baby inside you, rather than just going to the
00:26:28.220 word of God. Jesus Christ doesn't change. His word doesn't change. The clarity that he gives

00:26:45.580 the moral law, which is written on your heart. This is simply a justification for sin and a way

00:28:38.340 to understand that this comes from a worldview that is talked about very clearly in Nancy
00:28:42.960 Piercy's book that I've spoken about many times. She's been on the show a couple of times
00:28:47.040 called love thy body. It is one of, one of the books that I always recommend. If you have not
00:28:53.480 read or listened to love thy body, you have to do it. It's going to blow your mind and you like
00:28:58.020 the veil will be lifted. You will just have such an understanding of all the different sexual and
00:29:02.280 identity issues that we have going on. But she talks about this concept of dualism that is very
00:29:08.680 popular in secular culture and is totally anti-biblical, that the soul and the body are
00:29:13.900 completely separate. And that actually the soul, which in the secular world is kind of just
00:29:18.260 dictated by like how we feel, how we internally want to identify our instincts that we have. So
00:29:25.180 that's the soul. And that always trumps the body in dualism. That is the real self,
00:29:31.640 the soul or the spirit world or your spiritual inner identity, the true self that is what is
00:29:39.320 authentic. That must be adhered to that must be listened to that must be tuned into and released
00:29:45.780 and liberated through self-love and all of this stuff. And then the body is just basically a bag
00:29:51.360 bones. It's just a skin suit. It's just a vessel for the soul to be able to live at this particular 0.50
00:29:57.660 time. So what you do to the body really doesn't matter that much within this worldview of secular
00:30:04.720 dualism, because the soul is the real self and the body is kind of just arbitrary. And within that
00:30:12.420 worldview, you get the justification for so many things. You get the justification for something
00:30:17.120 like transgenderism, because it's how you feel and identify on the inside that is the true
00:30:23.160 self and the body can just be changed. Well, that is not what Christianity teaches.
00:30:30.300 Christianity teaches that the body is the dwelling place for the Holy Spirit, that we were made
00:30:35.840 bodily in the image of God, not to say that we look like God or that God looks like us.
00:30:42.560 We were made in his image and dignity and in so many of the characteristics that we
00:30:48.260 have, but we were made bodily and we were made in God's image.
00:30:52.620 We read that in Genesis 127, and we read that this body is ours to steward.
00:30:59.580 One day there's going to be a resurrection of the body.
00:31:03.360 That's how much it matters that God cares not only about healing in the here and the
00:31:08.420 now, which sometimes he chooses physically to do, and sometimes he doesn't.
00:31:11.680 but the ultimate physical restoration of our bodies. I mean, Jesus was incarnate. Jesus became
00:31:19.260 human. Jesus put on flesh so that he could live a human life and die a human death and actually
00:31:28.040 feel the pain of that death. So the body has so much significance, even communion,
00:31:35.100 or whether you are someone who believes in the real body and the blood, or whether you're someone
00:31:40.280 who believes that it's a symbol, this still goes to show that this is a representation
00:31:44.740 of the real bodily sacrifice that we get in Christ. So the Bible and the Christian worldview
00:31:52.080 really elevates the sanctity of the body. And that is also part of why we see in the Old Testament,
00:31:58.020 God gives so many dictates about how we treat our bodies and how we treat other people's bodies
00:32:03.700 and even like how they dressed and how they were able to relate to one another physically and
00:32:11.200 bodily. We're not under all of those laws today, but it does go to show how much God cares about
00:32:19.140 how we steward our bodies, that our bodies are living sacrifices to worship the Lord.
00:32:25.300 So we reject this idea that who we really are is defined by our feelings on the inside, by this
00:32:30.800 like kind of loosely defined spirit. We are identified by both body and soul as his image
00:32:41.540 bearers. And actually our bodies tell us something about who we are and what we are for. That's a
00:32:48.200 big thing that Nancy Piercy talks about in love thy body, that everything has a tell us. And
00:32:53.360 that's kind of like the Greek word for purpose. You see a bird and you know that it's not supposed
00:32:58.340 to swim. You see a fish and you know, it's not supposed to be like running across the Sahara
00:33:05.180 desert because its body has an indication of what it is for. And the same is true of the human body.
00:33:12.620 Whether you are talking about male versus female, you look at the anatomy, that anatomy is for one
00:33:18.620 thing. That anatomy is for the other thing or just humanity in general. We are made for certain
00:33:25.000 things. We have the capacity for certain things that animals don't. And telos in general, especially
00:33:30.860 for humans is negated in this new age worldview. So the innate dignity of the human body is negated
00:33:37.660 in this new age worldview. That is how you get the justification of the mutilation of the body,
00:33:43.420 of the mutilation of children inside the womb, because all that really matters is this kind of
00:33:49.880 spiritual world. This is very, very prominent in witchcraft and the idea of goddesses,
00:33:58.600 the justification of all these kinds of atrocities because it is somehow spiritually okay. And by the
00:34:06.880 way, we also get all of these different chances to live again. So what you do in this life
00:34:12.000 doesn't really matter. You're not going to meet God the judge one day. You'll get another chance
00:34:16.420 to get it better next time. That's the underneath the justification of sin and the worship of self
00:34:22.580 in these new age circles that show up in so many really dangerous ways. So what's actually the
00:34:27.900 truth? I mean, I've kind of sprinkled in the contradictions biblically to these things as
00:34:32.860 we've gone on, but just to kind of lay them out. So who knows us before we were born? Who is the
00:34:39.920 only one who knows us before we are born, God. Psalm 139, 13 through 16 tells us, well, for you
00:34:46.920 formed my inward parts. You knitted me together in my mother's womb. Your eyes saw my unformed
00:34:52.540 substance. In your book were written every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as
00:34:57.900 yet there was none of them. I cited Jeremiah 1, 5 earlier, before I formed you in the womb, I knew
00:35:04.460 you. That doesn't speak to some kind of spiritual preexistence, but God who is outside of time and
00:35:09.900 space knows everything. Remember Ephesians 1, 5, in love, he predestined us before the foundation
00:35:16.520 of the world. Again, that's not pre-existence. That's God who knows everything. Nothing is
00:35:22.440 mysterious to him. We live our lives in these physical bodies and we have a soul that will
00:35:28.220 exist after death, but scripture never teaches that human beings repeatedly incarnate into
00:35:33.240 different bodies or wait in a spiritual realm to choose their parents. And after life on earth,
00:35:39.300 we don't get another chance. We face judgment. Hebrews 9, 27, it is appointed for man to die
00:35:44.540 once. And after that comes judgment. After this judgment, individuals will either go to eternal
00:35:50.600 punishment or eternal life, Matthew 25, 46. And these will go away into eternal punishment,
00:35:55.700 but they're righteous into eternal life. Now, who is our righteousness? Jesus is our righteousness.
00:36:01.460 So it's not that we are earning our way to heaven by doing good works or self-help or self-love or
00:36:07.240 any of those things, we're actually told that our righteousness is as filthy rags to God. It's he
00:36:13.420 who knew no sin became sin so that we could become the righteousness of God. It's only through Christ
00:36:18.000 that our slate is clean, that we are justified and reconciled and are able to go to heaven.
00:36:24.000 We can't say because of pre-existence that abortion is okay because a child's soul just
00:36:29.300 returns to another realm. Yes, I do believe that by God's mercy, aborted babies go to heaven,
00:36:35.540 but that does not mean that killing them is not murder. I've even seen people ask me, 0.79
00:36:40.640 I think while meaning Christians, like, okay, like how do I respond to this? If someone says,
00:36:44.860 what's wrong with abortion? If the baby just goes to, goes to heaven anyway, well apply that 1.00
00:36:51.860 to any other kind of murder. What's wrong with slaughtering all Christians? What's wrong with 1.00
00:36:56.100 beheading all Christians? If all Christians are going to go to heaven, well, Jesus or God commanded 1.00
00:37:03.020 that murder be prohibited. God prohibited murder, even knowing that yes, killing one of God's people 0.98
00:37:11.660 or killing a Christian would send them to heaven. So we have the trust that God isn't saying that
00:37:16.800 murder is bad because we don't know where the person is going to go after. Again, this is one
00:37:21.960 of those misunderstandings of the importance of the body and the soul. The body matters to God.
00:37:25.800 what we do to the body matters to God. Remember when Cain killed Abel, um, God said the blood of
00:37:33.440 your brother is crying out to me. Like the body mattered and it still matters. Scripture grounds
00:37:40.720 the value of human life in the fact that human beings bear God's image. Genesis nine, six,
00:37:45.160 whoever sheds the blood of man by man shall his blood be shed for God made man in his own image.
00:37:50.720 that is dictating before the establishment of Israel, the goodness, the justification of the
00:37:56.520 death penalty for murder. That's how much God cares about the body. On top of this, the Bible
00:38:01.740 is clear that practices such as divination and sorcery and attempts to communicate with spirits
00:38:05.600 aren't harmless forms of entertainment. Okay. A Ouija board, all those things that we watched
00:38:10.840 that were really weird growing up, like, are you afraid of the dark and all of that? Like that,
00:38:16.420 is actually really bad for your soul. And we actually have a conversation coming up with
00:38:21.940 Jen Niza, an incredible ex-psychic turned Christian talking about all of this stuff 0.52
00:38:27.680 that seems harmless, but that's not. That'll be coming out soon. Scripture says that these 0.78
00:38:32.440 things are an abomination to God. Deuteronomy 18, 10 through 12, anyone who practices divination
00:38:37.860 or tells fortunes or interprets omens or who inquires of the dead, a necromancer.
00:38:44.440 So these people who say, Oh, these dead people, this dead person is talking to me. This dead
00:38:48.420 person is giving me inspiration. This dead person is giving me this task. Um, that is evil. That is
00:38:54.680 a sin. It says, because of these abominations, the Lord, your God is driving them out. These
00:38:59.140 other societies, these other nations from you. And right before this, he says, Hey, don't burn
00:39:05.080 your son or daughter as an offering. Okay. So these things, witchcraft and the sacrifice of
00:39:11.100 children go hand in hand. So remember when I said that some of this is new and some of this is as
00:39:16.220 old as time, it's the same thing that was happening in Deuteronomy 18. When you practice witchcraft, 0.76
00:39:21.140 when you practice divination, when you worship the God of self, the justification of child 0.88
00:39:25.260 sacrifice is also present. For some reason, this idolatry, the idolatry of the self,
00:39:32.480 the idolatry of our own wants, our own autonomy, our own being authentic and true to ourselves
00:39:38.540 always seems to end in child sacrifice. We are laying these precious image bearers of God
00:39:45.460 on the altar of our own happiness and liberation. That was happening in the Old Testament. It's
00:39:51.080 still what's happening today. Now it just has a strange new age self-help twist on it.
00:39:57.380 In Acts, we read that one of the first acts of repentance for new Christian converts 0.83
00:40:01.060 was burning their magic books. Acts 19, 18 through 20. Many of those who were now believers 0.95
00:40:08.280 came confessing and divulging their practices. And a number of those who had practiced magic arts
00:40:12.820 brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. So the word of the Lord
00:40:18.360 continued to increase and prevail mightily. I've had people, people who follow me say,
00:40:24.080 well, I'm a witch and also a Christian at the same time. What fellowship does light have with
00:40:28.440 darkness? You can't worship God and worship the self. You can't be a Christian and also practice
00:40:35.620 witchcraft. You can't, but we also have to make sure that we understand that there are sneaky 1.00
00:40:40.000 ways that this witchcraft does show up. So try to resist this, try to notice, notice where this
00:40:48.040 is happening and instead do these things. I'll get to that in just a second. Let me tell you

00:42:43.580 trust in the Lord with all your heart and don't lean, lean on your own understanding and all your
00:42:48.920 ways, acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths. Wow. I don't even have to worry about
00:42:54.640 what special wisdom I have to access inside of myself. Trust in the Lord with all of your heart,
00:42:59.580 not part of your heart, not a fraction, all of your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding
00:43:04.400 at all. Not because you're not smart, not because God hasn't given you a brain to think really hard
00:43:10.260 and to come to really smart conclusions, but because our understanding, which I think is
00:43:14.680 deeper than knowledge, but our actual wisdom and being able to navigate the world is clouded so
00:43:20.160 much by lies and deceit and our emotions and so many mixed messages that it's just not,
00:43:26.980 it's not a good guide. It's not a good guide. James 1 5 promises us this. If any of you lacks
00:43:33.700 wisdom, let him ask God who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.
00:43:40.260 We should be especially discerning when these ideas are packaged in language that sounds
00:43:44.520 comforting or even vaguely Christian.
00:43:47.580 Scripture warns us against this. 0.98
00:43:49.440 Matthew 7, 15, beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly
00:43:55.180 are ravenous wolves.
00:43:57.460 Just because someone talks about angels or stars or the spiritual realm, or just because
00:44:04.000 someone seems to be comforted by something that sounds good, like don't worry, you're
00:44:08.100 sending your baby back to God.
00:44:10.260 or talks about heaven or something, it doesn't mean that it is good. And actually that kind of
00:44:15.520 theology could speak to something really dark that we in love and gentleness need to correct.
00:44:20.680 Because the truth is the gospel and what God tells us in his word is actually so much more
00:44:26.260 comforting that there is a sovereign God who loves you and loves your baby, cares about what you do
00:44:31.580 and cares about your body and has a way to guide us through the confusion and the chaos of this
00:44:36.680 life. And it doesn't depend on you. That is really, really good news. All right. Now we are

00:45:48.100 and so i wanted to go through a couple of super popular social media videos that i've seen
00:45:54.080 circulating around that clearly you're persuading a lot of people the first one that we're going to
00:45:59.180 play 2.2 or 12.2 rather million views liked by 2.3 million people. Okay. So that qualifies as
00:46:07.440 viral. It's a little bit on the longer side. So we're going to watch what this person says about
00:46:12.520 God's plan, not making sense. And then we want you to just run with it and combat it. Here's
00:46:18.440 that one. Christianity ruined my life. So if you're a Christian or if you're planning on becoming a 1.00
00:46:22.640 Christian, please take it upon yourself to be educated by somebody whose entire life revolved
00:46:26.600 around the religion i was born into a christian family and put through christian schools and when
00:46:29.960 i was about 12 i decided that i was going to be a preacher so i started writing prayers to jesus
00:46:33.760 christ every single night for about four years straight until i was about 16. i had a 1000 bible
00:46:38.000 app streak and i read the bible cover to cover five times so much so that i can quote it from
00:46:41.520 memory the reason i know these verses is because my family would force me to walk in a circle around
00:46:45.600 the house quoting them non-stop every day for about an hour and if i didn't do that then i would
00:46:49.700 be quote filled with demonic spirits and have to be exercised and there were multiple times i was
00:46:53.280 actually exercised for questioning the bible so the church that baptized me had a preacher who
00:46:57.140 a 12 year old girl and then only served six months in jail he was on trump's spiritual advisory team
00:47:01.900 and now he lives in excessive extraordinary luxury and he's free that's not to say that
00:47:06.180 all christian preachers are like that but i do not believe for a second that this man was ever
00:47:09.940 actually concerned with the teachings of jesus christ this also made me wonder why god would
00:47:13.760 include unnecessary suffering in his salvation plan if he had the power to avoid it so here's
00:47:18.560 how the bible works quick education the bible says that man fell away from god because we chose sin
00:47:22.980 We chose to fall away, we chose to damn ourselves.
00:47:25.260 So it was up to God to create a salvation plan to bring about the rescue of all mankind.
00:47:30.300 But despite the fact that this omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent being's only
00:47:33.580 desire is total human salvation, he decides to purposefully prolong his salvation plan 0.67
00:47:37.640 thousands of years so that he could command Israel to wipe out entire civilizations, 1.00
00:47:41.220 including the women and children, as well as to create the death penalty for gay folks 0.98
00:47:44.520 or for working on the Sabbath. 0.96
00:47:45.560 Why would a God be concerned with the geopolitics of Israel and create the death penalty for
00:47:49.300 working on the Sabbath before deciding to save humanity from an impending damnation?
00:47:52.760 Leaving the faith became a necessary action in my life when undergoing the pursuit of truth, which is all that matters
00:47:58.360 When I presented these questions and these problems with christianity to my family
00:48:02.400 They kicked me out and I was homeless for months
00:48:04.260 And then eventually I ended up in a psych ward at some point and just got worse and worse and worse and worse
00:48:10.140 I dedicated my life to becoming a preacher
00:48:12.120 I studied every single day happily because I wanted to be a preacher
00:48:16.400 But I cannot be a preacher if the god that I am preaching of is not true to begin with
00:48:22.760 okay there's a lot there natasha take it away wow yeah there there is a lot there i mean the first
00:48:30.800 thing that comes to mind is just that i feel so sad for this young man i mean he is clearly hurting
00:48:36.680 and very angry and he it sounds like he's been through an awful lot and he he has hurt from his
00:48:43.300 family he has hurt from the church and the moral failings that that he encountered there with the
00:48:47.760 leadership. I mean, there's a lot going on for this person. That said, there's a lot that needs
00:48:52.920 to be impacted with the claims that he is making. And one thing that really stands out to me, I mean,
00:48:57.580 he's kind of steamrolling. He's throwing like everything he can out at the same time. It's
00:49:00.900 hard to keep up with all the claims. But if you really look at the underlying theme of what he's
00:49:05.140 talking about with God's plan of salvation, it's really coming back to his idea that there is all
00:49:11.360 this unnecessary suffering in the world, as he calls it. It's really a problem of evil that he's
00:49:16.760 coming back to and he's throwing out all of these different parts of it, but that's the underlying
00:49:20.360 claim is how can this good God exist like the Bible claims if there's all this unnecessary
00:49:26.180 suffering? So a couple of things to understand about that is that when somebody says that
00:49:30.880 suffering is unnecessary, from God's perspective, we have no idea how God would evaluate the
00:49:37.180 necessity of suffering in any given case. And I think the vast majority of suffering in the world
00:49:41.660 that we would look at as human beings, we would look at and say, that seems unnecessary. We don't
00:49:46.620 want any kind of suffering, right? So it's very easy for us to say that because suffering obviously
00:49:52.980 feels horrible to us. But if God exists and He is this all-knowing, all-loving, and all-powerful
00:49:59.880 God, then He's going to have a much better understanding of His purposes through suffering
00:50:05.040 than we ever can as finite creatures. And so that ultimately becomes, if you roll it back one more
00:50:10.900 level becomes a problem of just why would God create people who can make bad choices
00:50:16.020 in the beginning?
00:50:17.220 Why did God allow for this universe where sin is possible?
00:50:21.080 Because sin is what ultimately causes suffering.
00:50:23.740 So if we get back to that level of the claim, then we get back to why God created people
00:50:29.100 with moral agency, why free will.
00:50:31.700 And what we can say to that is that God didn't want to create robots, right?
00:50:34.700 He didn't want to create these creatures who would just obey every single thing He said.
00:50:39.280 That is not something that allows for us to be in an actual, genuine, loving relationship
00:50:44.360 with him.
00:50:45.060 Instead, he creates us as people who can be in a true relationship with him, that we
00:50:49.700 have moral agency, that we can make decisions that are morally significant.

00:53:50.720 But I mean, there's a lot that we can unpack here.

00:53:54.680 And one question I have for you, sorry to put you on the spot, but I was thinking about
00:53:58.020 what someone might say to you saying, okay, we have moral agency. God created us to be,
00:54:03.820 um, to be beings that can actually make decisions and choose to obey him or not. And you mentioned,
00:54:10.600 okay, he doesn't just want us to be these robots who obey him. Of course he does want us to obey
00:54:15.240 him, but he wants us to be out of love and deference to him, not just because we have
00:54:20.620 been programmed to only do that. Um, I wonder if someone said, okay, but what about Pharaoh?
00:54:28.220 Pharaoh seemed to not really have agency because we read repeatedly that God hardened Pharaoh's
00:54:33.840 heart and yet God punishes not only Pharaoh, but the Egyptian people for the choices that he,
00:54:42.040 that God himself is inducing in Pharaoh. I mean, he kills firstborn sons because he hardened
00:54:47.240 Pharaoh's heart and Pharaoh wouldn't let the people go. And I don't know the answer to that
00:54:52.320 besides like God's going to do what he wants to do and he's good and he's sovereign. But how would
00:54:56.820 you respond to something like that? Well, yes, it is a difficult question. I think theologians
00:55:02.900 have debated about Pharaoh and the hardening of the heart quite a bit. But what we do see is
00:55:07.580 language in the Bible that says that God is giving people over to their passions and that in giving
00:55:13.560 people over to where they already are with a hardened heart. And I think that's really
00:55:17.480 significant because if we take as the presupposition that God is all-knowing and all-loving and God is
00:55:24.020 perfectly just, the things that the Bible teaches about the nature of God, if we take that as a
00:55:28.460 given, then we would know that God has perfect knowledge of what a given person is going to
00:55:33.940 choose to do. He has perfect knowledge of whether or not a person is going to turn away or if the
00:55:39.220 person is going to come back to him. So in the case of Pharaoh, for example, if he has perfect
00:55:43.480 knowledge that Pharaoh is not going to come back to him and that he's going to just remain in
00:55:48.940 rebellion to God, then God might choose to harden his heart further, meaning that he is making it
00:55:54.020 so that Pharaoh will take actions, maybe even more extreme than what he would have, in order to show
00:55:59.420 his glory through the way that he saved the Israelites, through the way that they were
00:56:03.680 delivered. And they were told to remember this repeatedly. We read that in the Old Testament,
00:56:08.220 especially in the Psalms. I've been reading Psalms lately, and it's so interesting to read
00:56:11.680 how many times it talks about remembering what God has done during that time. Well, this is
00:56:18.180 speculation, of course, but maybe there wouldn't have been as many things, as many opportunities
00:56:23.040 for God to show his glory if Pharaoh's heart wasn't hardened to the point of doing the things
00:56:27.820 that he did. But that's a very different situation than someone saying, oh, it's because God hardened
00:56:33.500 Pharaoh's heart that Pharaoh didn't have an opportunity to turn back to him. If we take as
00:56:39.260 a given, again, that God is of the nature that the Bible says, then God is going to know whether or
00:56:44.040 not that was possible. So, or not possible, but whether or not that was actually going to happen.
00:56:48.920 So it is a challenging question. We read things like that and we say, but that's not fair, right?
00:56:52.660 It seems like it's not fair, but we have to go back to the presupposition of who God is,
00:56:57.180 what the Bible teaches about his nature, or knowing that we don't know everything,
00:57:00.940 but in his perfect justness and in his perfect love, that he is going to make decisions that
00:57:07.180 we don't understand. And we can speculate, we can come up with things like what I just said,
00:57:12.600 but that doesn't necessarily mean that we have all the answers to the things that are sometimes
00:57:16.960 really difficult. Yeah. And something that you did there that is so important that I want to
00:57:22.880 highlight is allowing scripture to interpret scripture. And so we were talking about Pharaoh,
00:57:28.600 but you went to, I think Romans one, um, you know, people are given over or they are following
00:57:35.620 the depravity and the darkness of their own mind. And they are exchanging the truth of God for a lie
00:57:41.040 that might be in the new Testament, but that has been true of simple people all along. And so 1.00
00:57:46.780 I think it's really important that we have this holistic view of scripture. What does the entire
00:57:51.580 Bible say about God's character? And this happens in this passage. That's confusing,
00:57:56.740 but what do I know? Not only here, but all throughout scripture about who God is, how he
00:58:02.500 works and what he does. I was also thinking, as you were talking about Romans nine, that sometimes
00:58:07.520 the Christian does understand that, like, how can the clay say to the potter, why did you make me
00:58:12.740 this way? And sometimes we do have to be like, I don't really get it. I don't completely understand,
00:58:18.760 but here are the characteristics of God that I know to be true, that he's proven over and over
00:58:22.960 again and everything else that he does has to be interpreted through that so good so thank you for
00:58:28.160 that okay let's do the second tiktok or the second viral video you want to know what i think about 0.98
00:58:34.580 christianity well i think that all abrahamic religion is a sickness and it's a cancer and 0.89

00:59:21.020 he just wants to find truth. And I can appreciate that at least that's what he's searching for. He
00:59:25.460 has this goal of finding truth, which a lot of people today seem totally ambivalent about the
00:59:31.760 actual nature of truth and whether or not that's the goal that they're pursuing. So I appreciate
00:59:35.060 that he's saying that. But what he's talking about here, when he gets back to evidence and
00:59:39.240 he's comparing evolutionary theory to what evidence there is for the Bible, this is very
00:59:45.320 often the way that atheists approach this subject by saying there's all this evidence on the one
00:59:49.480 hand for something like evolution, which would explain how everything came about in this
00:59:53.480 naturalistic universe.
00:59:54.740 And there's no evidence for anything that is supernatural.
00:59:58.280 But first of all, as a starting point, what we have to understand about that when he's
01:00:02.060 saying, you know, there's no evidence for these supernatural things.
01:00:04.300 A lot of times when atheists are saying that, they're just presupposing that miracles aren't
01:00:08.580 possible in the first place.
01:00:09.760 So they're not even looking at evidence for specific miracle claims.
01:00:13.780 They're just saying, hey, this isn't possible.
01:00:16.320 And so one of the things that I've taught my kids ever since they were little is just
01:00:19.500 the logic of this, that by definition, a miracle is an extraordinary event with a supernatural

01:00:26.560 Okay, that's the definition, an extraordinary event with a supernatural cause.
01:00:30.020 So if nothing exists outside of the natural world, if there is nothing supernatural to
01:00:35.100 cause a miracle, then of course miracles aren't possible.
01:00:37.680 So you can kind of remember this by if God exists, miracles are possible.
01:00:42.760 If God does not exist, then miracles are not possible.
01:00:46.240 And that's just by definition.
01:00:47.600 And the reason that I was always teaching my kids that is that I wanted them to understand
01:00:50.880 that this is something you can actually agree with an atheist on.
01:00:54.120 You can say, okay, okay, I understand what you're saying, that according to a naturalistic
01:00:58.160 worldview, where nothing exists outside of the natural world, then of course miracles
01:01:03.520 aren't possible.
01:01:04.100 There's no supernatural being to make a miracle happen.
01:01:08.020 But can we agree that if God does exist, then miracles are possible by definition?
01:01:14.080 And so I think that's a helpful starting point in a lot of these kinds of conversations,
01:01:17.140 because when people say, oh, there's no evidence for miracles, you have to understand,
01:01:21.000 first of all, whether or not they're just counting out the possibility to begin with,
01:01:25.020 or if they're actually looking for evidence for claims.

01:02:33.200 he said in the Bible, there are certain events, of course, that we don't have specific evidence
01:02:38.240 for in a specific case.
01:02:39.500 For example, if we think of a talking donkey, do we have evidence of a talking donkey specifically?
01:02:47.320 Well, for that specific event, no, we can't go and say, oh, we found this and that, and
01:02:51.880 that points to this specific miracle outside of the context of the Bible.
01:02:55.760 However, when we talk about the resurrection, we actually can look at historical evidence.
01:03:00.500 We can look at historical facts that all scholars or nearly every scholar would agree on, whether
01:03:06.400 they're a believer or not, and say, okay, here are the things that we know historically
01:03:10.300 to be true that surrounded the claims of a resurrection.
01:03:14.900 What is the best explanation for this?
01:03:18.460 What is the best explanation for things like the fact that Paul was a persecutor of the
01:03:23.600 church, and then he claims that he had this experience with the risen Jesus, and then
01:03:27.760 he goes on to risk his life and be willing to suffer and die in order to proclaim what he is
01:03:34.320 saying he experienced. Now, that's one person. But then you can also look at James, the half-brother
01:03:38.960 of Jesus. And you can say, okay, during his life, it seems that Jesus' family, his brothers, did not
01:03:44.620 necessarily believe in what he was saying. But then we see in 1 Corinthians 15 that Jesus,
01:03:50.540 it was claimed, at least from this perspective, that it's claimed that Jesus appeared to James,
01:03:55.420 And then James becomes a leader in the early church.
01:03:58.060 And then we have historical evidence that all of the disciples were willing to suffer
01:04:02.260 and die to proclaim what they said happened, that Jesus was raised from the dead and that
01:04:08.760 they saw that happen.
01:04:10.500 And a lot of times people will say, yeah, but people will die for all kinds of weird
01:04:13.140 things.
01:04:13.680 But this is a very different situation because they were dying for or they were willing to
01:04:18.720 risk dying for what they knew was not a lie or was a lie.
01:04:23.660 Most people, the vast majority of people are not going to die for what they know is a lie.
01:04:27.940 Maybe you can find one person or two people.
01:04:30.860 But when you see all of these people together, then you have to ask the question, what is
01:04:35.040 the best explanation for all of these historical facts?
01:04:39.180 If you count out the possibility of a miracle in the beginning, you assume that God does

01:04:44.520 And of course, there's no evidence for that.
01:04:46.520 But if you permit, okay, if God exists, miracles are possible.

01:04:51.860 now you have a situation where you're saying,

01:04:57.060 from hallucinations to conspiracy theories
