Summary
Conservatives maintain a 20 point lead over Justin Trudeau in the polls, but there's some bad news too, and I'm going to tell you about it in this morning's episode of the podcast. Good news: the Tories are on track to win a majority in the next election. Bad news: they're not.

Good news, and well, thank you for joining me today, Monday, August 12th, 2024.
00:00:41.040
Beautiful because there's no politicians, and the sun is out.
00:00:46.660
So thank you for joining me today, and there's some good news this morning.
00:00:53.640
Polyevs Conservatives maintaining a 20-point-plus lead over Justin Trudeau,
00:00:59.320
but there's some bad news, too, and I'm going to tell you about that when we come back.
00:01:05.660
So we are in a very precarious position in this country.
00:01:08.620
We need political change, but we also need to resolve to resist.
00:01:34.860
Then I'm going to talk about the bad news, because that's not what you're hearing from a lot of folks this morning.
00:01:41.240
But we need to put things in perspective, and we need to know exactly how things are moving in this country,
00:01:53.200
My old friend David Coletto, Abacus Data Poll, lead by 20.
00:02:06.500
And if you look at – I'm going to just read from this briefly here.
00:02:17.840
From July 31st to August 7th, 2024, Abacus Data conducted a national survey of 1,550 Canadian adults
00:02:24.860
exploring several topics related to Canadian politics and current events
00:02:28.340
as part of our regular national omnibus surveys.
00:02:35.180
Conservatives continue ahead, lead by 20 over the Liberals.
00:02:39.780
In what is now a persistent trend, and now the 16th survey in a row,
00:02:43.920
the gap between the Conservatives and the Liberals remains close or at 20 percentage points.
00:02:50.140
If an election were held today, 43% of committed voters would vote Conservative,
00:02:54.180
while 23% would vote for the Liberals, 18% for the NDP, and 4% for the Greens.
00:03:00.720
Interestingly enough, they don't put the People's Party in there.
00:03:09.780
However, every party's vote share is consistent with our last survey with very minor changes
00:03:16.500
as the Conservatives are up 1 and the NDP are down 2.
00:03:19.860
Now, if you look at the province by province, the Conservatives have a 62% share of the vote in Alberta,
00:03:34.680
51% Saskatchewan, Manitoba, 42% British Columbia, 44% in Ontario.
00:03:41.720
And they're actually ahead of the Liberals and Quebec, 31% to 24%.
00:03:47.560
And they're actually outpolling the Bloc in Quebec, 31% to 30%.
00:03:54.440
Atlantic Canada, traditional Liberal stronghold.
00:03:58.720
The Conservatives have 41% to the Liberals, 34%.
00:04:02.960
Now, of course, this all adds up, as any idiot can tell you,
00:04:14.020
Any party, when they begin to get near that 45% of the vote in a first-past-the-post democracy,
00:04:27.620
the way we are in Canada, is going to get a tremendous amount of seats.
00:04:33.760
I mean, you can win a majority election in this country in a high 30% area.
00:04:52.040
Pierre Paliyev could win the biggest majority in Canadian history,
00:04:56.200
outstripping that of Brian Mulroney's in 1984 and that of John Diefenbaker in 1958.
00:05:06.720
And certainly outstripping anything the Liberals have ever done,
00:05:09.700
because they've never actually won the whopping majority,
00:05:12.260
the landslide majorities, the way that the Conservatives had.
00:05:15.820
Because the Conservatives have usually won these at the end of long periods of Liberal rule,
00:05:20.920
where people are just so frustrated with the grits,
00:05:29.420
Here's another piece of good news from the Globe and Mail.
00:05:33.300
Most Canadians think adding Mark Carney to the cabinet would have no benefit to Trudeau.
00:05:38.980
Now, we've talked about Mark Carney here in the past.
00:05:43.260
He's probably going to be the finance minister as of this Friday.
00:05:48.060
he will be entering the cabinet this Friday as finance minister,
00:05:53.880
and Christy Freeland will be doing something else.
00:06:00.280
Her days as deputy prime minister might be on the way out as well.
00:06:07.700
Trudeau might keep her there as a bad joke as deputy PM with a minor cabinet portfolio
00:06:14.140
just to assuage her massive ego because one thing Trudeau understands,
00:06:33.300
the Conservatives will probably maintain this lead
00:06:39.420
And even if he steps down and puts Mark Carney,
00:06:45.700
it apparently is not going to make any difference.
00:06:49.680
But why do you think Trudeau wants Mark Carney in the cabinet?
00:07:02.100
But sometimes the most obvious ruses escape you.
00:07:08.640
Yes, Justin Trudeau wants Mark Carney inside the tent,
00:07:28.760
So why does he want Mark Carney in the cabinet?
00:07:37.180
but he poses a political problem for Justin Trudeau.
00:07:57.040
This is a man who has been a climate change guy for the United Nations.
00:08:10.440
Why does Justin Trudeau want him in his cabinet?
00:08:19.240
Do you think they are going to sit by passively and just wait for the conservatives to get this whopping majority government in 2025,
00:08:45.360
You're going to see another huge crisis within the next 14 months.
00:08:56.760
the chronic climate crisis that Justin Trudeau likes to talk about as an existential threat.
00:09:02.500
But that has done more to bolster Justin Trudeau's spending habits than anything else.
00:09:11.240
And has done more to instill fear in the hearts of pathetic,
00:09:17.160
weak-need Canadians than anything else who actually believe that we are at the precipice of some environmental catastrophe.
00:09:30.600
you're going to see that combined with the same immigration crisis that the UK is experiencing right now.
00:09:40.300
And if you think it's just going to be in the UK,
00:09:47.380
because we know Trudeau is importing more immigrants,
00:09:58.560
And the illegal immigration is going to begin to climb,
00:10:03.640
especially as there's an overflow from the United States.
00:10:07.900
How many illegals have entered the United States in four years of Joe Biden?
00:10:32.200
He's a former frontline deputy with Customs and Border Patrol in the U.S.
