The Anchormen Show with Matt Gaetz - The Anchormen Show with Matt Gaetz ｜ The Battle for Los Angeles

00:00:00.000 now it's time for the anchorman podcast with matt gates and dan ball

00:00:11.340 welcome back to our show anchorman i strongly encourage you to check out last week's episode

00:00:23.420 i had anna paulina luna on for a discussion about her life her entry into politics and how 1.00

00:00:28.820 an influencer can actually enter the halls of the united states congress and i would suggest

00:00:33.960 she's doing a terrific job she's one of the very best we have but we're out of dc this week

00:00:39.240 back in the mothership back in san diego california joined as usual by my on again off again employee

00:00:46.740 he was the founding producer of steve bannon's war room podcast worked for me on capitol hill

00:00:52.040 worked for george santos on capitol hill vishborough thanks for joining me again my friend always a

00:00:56.960 pleasure and the guy who has been melting the internet independent journalist anthony cabasa

00:01:02.700 anthony has been reporting in southern california for quite a while now we got to know his work

00:01:09.480 on the palisade fires where he was bringing us right to what our first responders were confronting what

00:01:15.300 homeowners were confronting how the city had to confront their own failures in that particular

00:01:21.800 circumstance anthony has been covering the battle for los angeles that's what i'm calling it because

00:01:27.520 because that's what it is uh and i really wanted you know you've been on our talk show but it wasn't

00:01:33.440 enough time to get into what it takes to cover a riot series like this a battle like this i think that

00:01:40.880 this is really a critical point for the country and really millions of people are consuming this

00:01:46.580 through your reporting so i just want to kind of hand it to you anthony and tell us what these last

00:01:51.920 few days have been like for you and how has your reporting shaped your perspective on what's going

00:01:57.040 on in southern california yeah thanks so much for having me matt um and vish nice to see you brother

00:02:01.700 um i gotta get some matching shades man you know but uh no yeah it's been um a whirlwind really i think

00:02:09.400 that this is uh so much more different than like let's say the george floyd riots which i also covered

00:02:15.000 um you know kind of that all obviously started off with kind of uh you know people versus the

00:02:21.080 police and kind of like law enforcement and police brutality uh the message here i think it's so much

00:02:27.400 more bigger than that in the sense that it's looking like it's shaping up to be kind of uh los angeles

00:02:33.260 is going to be like ground zero uh for the trump administration immigration policy and so i think

00:02:41.200 that what we're looking at is you know we had kind of trump 1.0 where you know there were deportations

00:02:47.760 there was obviously strong border security uh but this time around he's got a national mandate

00:02:52.540 in which the people said we we we need you to go into these communities and get these people out of

00:02:58.640 here let's let's uh delve into that question because i think it's a i think you're right and i think it's

00:03:04.460 exactly as the trump administration would have it what what anthony said is that los angeles

00:03:09.340 is ground zero for the battle for trump's immigration agenda now i think the left would love

00:03:16.840 the uh you know some random court in maryland or connecticut to be ground zero but when you've got

00:03:22.880 enemy combatants under foreign flags marching in a once great american city you have all the

00:03:30.940 justification in the world for president trump utilizing the full scope of his executive authority

00:03:37.160 and you know as as we unpack what it means for la to be the ground zero flashpoint of this

00:03:46.880 national moment we're in vish could you think of better ground for the trump administration to

00:03:52.720 fight on i mean isn't this what they want i mean de santis was pretty good with the martha's vineyard

00:03:58.580 move yes but this this seems to be so revealing i mean i i was talking to a guy today who just who

00:04:06.140 was not a very political person just someone i know in non-political life and he said you know

00:04:10.800 what matt i'm glad as much as i hate that everybody's having to go through this i'm glad the country is

00:04:16.680 seeing what the other side would do to us what they would subject us to so so one is uh is cabasa right

00:04:24.700 that this is the flashpoint and two is it just as los angeles native steven miller and uh president

00:04:33.460 trump would have it absolutely this is a hundred percent ground zero i was there on monday uh for

00:04:39.720 two in la as well seeing it for myself and oh yeah this is definitely it's definitely grand zero

00:04:46.320 ground zero la is the flashpoint there's uh there's so many obvious reasons that's as to why that is

00:04:52.800 but why is that good why is that good but it's also and let me tell you this it's also good because

00:04:58.000 the fight is now on the the the battlefield where trump is the strongest whether it's on the message

00:05:05.300 or on the optics right he couldn't ask for a better situation and let me tell you this

00:05:10.640 the other side knows it there are you know how many reporters i've had reach out to me asking me what i

00:05:17.160 think about what's happening and they're like oh man is it is does trump really want this that it

00:05:22.820 seems like he wants this and i'm like and i'm not saying anything to them for many different reasons

00:05:28.700 but in my head what i'm thinking is of course this is this is the this is where trump gets to prove

00:05:35.060 and and put the pedal to the metal on his message on his campaign promises right this is what okay okay

00:05:41.620 you know fine let's let's grant that premise for the sake of argument is it a symbiotic relationship

00:05:47.120 with gavin newsom does gavin newsom want la county to be the flashpoint of this as well for his own

00:05:53.720 ambitions or would he far prefer to be like doing charlie kirk podcasts and saying men and women's

00:06:01.120 sports aren't really cool anymore and making some sort of chad tag to the middle no no i i think that

00:06:06.640 he wants it i think i'm i mean he already said you know he's daring the the administration to come

00:06:11.580 arrest him i think he wants it and remember we saw that glenn ivy clip of the town hall where these

00:06:17.060 supporters are demanding you know are you ready to get arrested to defend the people right and it

00:06:22.120 looks like gavin newsom is saying yes now the funny thing is to me that i first thought of gavin newsom as

00:06:29.240 like a sociopathic like operator but he's actually way more clumsy than that it seems and especially if

00:06:35.180 you saw his uh address his emergency address the other day where he came out and there was no audio on

00:06:41.100 it like and it was like a big moment and some staffer just blew the audio on the on the whole

00:06:46.860 thing so that yeah that had ever happened to you with me or santos you'd have been in deep trouble

00:06:51.820 or ban so i said so i think he wants he wants it too but this is a spot that that he's just going

00:06:58.640 to lose because as long as trump comes out uh pounding not just the message but the resources

00:07:03.940 to quote to quell this thing it is it's a win for trump all right so we've established that this is

00:07:09.020 the launch point for this movement but now anthony you know bring us into the reporting bring us into

00:07:14.860 kind of where you first go to encounter some of these images that you've been displaying for the

00:07:21.440 world that you know we've been showing on this podcast that are very stark that show the the damage

00:07:26.400 the unrest and the violence yeah so um i've lived and i grew up and was born in la county and so uh

00:07:35.260 what's kind of cool about being an independent journalist out here is that i you know a lot of

00:07:39.800 people have moved out of la county including other journalists um that i originated here in la and they

00:07:45.820 just moved on to to greener pastures i guess uh but so me staying here i've had the opportunity to

00:07:51.860 when i see things happening i just drive right down and it takes 20 30 minutes to get there

00:07:56.480 and so and that's important for this reason i got there on friday when it actually all started so

00:08:02.240 this is pre any thoughts or statements by the president of this administration about the

00:08:07.440 national guard coming out and that's important because gavin newsom is making it seem like it

00:08:12.420 was a national guard deployment that started the violence but some of the videos that you just played

00:08:17.360 were actually from the day before friday so this video right here that's being played that's friday

00:08:21.820 that's the violence that was already happening and uh right here on the left hand side are the dhs

00:08:27.720 agents that are trapped inside there you go you can see them uh they don't have the manpower they

00:08:33.200 don't have the resources that's why and the thing is this is federal uh property right here so lapd

00:08:40.080 really doesn't have any jurisdiction from my understanding to just go in there and grab

00:08:43.480 these protesters because that's federal property and so what's what's happening here is they're

00:08:49.020 viciously attacking dhs agents they were launching items at them uh that this very same day

00:08:54.680 there were uh protesters in this crowd that were grabbing hammers and breaking down public property

00:09:00.060 cement where were they getting the were they do you bring your own hammer or is there some sort of

00:09:04.240 like distribution of cinder blocks or hammers or anything like that well a lot of these anarchists

00:09:10.200 that embed themselves into these protests um they already bring the equipment with them they have

00:09:15.780 tactical gear they have small weapons uh what are we seeing here with some of these so this is

00:09:20.840 actually saturday the day after and this is a pallets of brick that i had discovered uh so this

00:09:27.160 is technically a home depot so a lot of people were like well it's a home depot it shouldn't be a

00:09:31.400 surprise but um if you watch the full clip it's the only pallet there that's why i kept zooming in

00:09:37.780 and i'm like well sure it could be a home depot but where's the rest of the pallets like there's no

00:09:43.480 pallets of anything else there's no pallets of manure there's no pallets of anything else home depot

00:09:48.040 cells except for the bricks and look it's outside the gate the gate is closed there's two pallets

00:09:53.480 right outside the gate meaning anyone can just walk up and you see the rest of the pallets all

00:09:57.080 the way in the back and what are the odds that of course the pallets are there within striking

00:10:01.560 distance of the dhs agents uh and they're of course the protesters saw them you know and and started

00:10:07.860 breaking them down and they started making barriers with them this is a perfect example right here but

00:10:12.920 then they were also breaking them down to throw at dhs agents so we had two full days matt

00:10:17.360 two full days of quote-unquote peaceful protesting before there was even any talks

00:10:22.400 of the national guard being activated uh and one of the most surprising things to me was that the lapd

00:10:29.080 themselves their press uh office came out and said that uh they had two successful days of peaceful

00:10:35.520 protest without incident but my footage shows otherwise and so when the problem is is that you had

00:10:44.700 maxine waters you had gavin newsom and you had la mayor bass and lapd putting out these statements

00:10:50.480 which if you kind of look into the lapd union you'll see that they've endorsed uh karen bass and

00:10:55.500 there's kind of like some uh deals being made there uh even after the palisade fires one of the people

00:11:00.900 that were openly vocal of supporting karen bass's actions post fire was the lapd union they were saying

00:11:06.920 like hey no she's doing a great job you know uh so not knocking the police officers but sometimes

00:11:11.980 leadership and if you take a look at la uh fire department right now they're under investigation

00:11:16.580 they just fired the main union guy uh and it looks like there's embezzling money so these unions are

00:11:22.100 in bed with democrats with the political establishment of absolutely so if you want to go into like uh

00:11:28.440 who's funding all of this you look no further than the unions specifically the teachers unions

00:11:33.820 are here seiu seem to have seiu uh role they you were you were you were covering the seiu rally and

00:11:40.640 it was shocking to me that such a mainstream organization would be platforming voices that

00:11:46.900 were calling for socialist revolution yeah uh a is it union members who are going to to these rallies

00:11:55.900 there was a definitely a ton of union members you could identify the union members uh with their purple

00:12:01.220 shirts that they were wearing uh the place was littered with them i mean the whole thing was

00:12:05.720 organized by them they were working the gate they were giving away free food uh obviously you know

00:12:11.640 this by the way the set the stage set was so nice like there is some serious money being put

00:12:17.780 behind this craft good stage craft the location is great um it was just like it was definitely well

00:12:25.900 thought out and another thing that i want to point out to just the seiu being involved in

00:12:30.740 what anthony's talking about with you know these guys bringing hammers and and smashing concrete and

00:12:36.280 all this stuff this that's not just like instincts that's training right like there that there are

00:12:42.940 people who are who are being taught this stuff on how to do it how to identify use the environment

00:12:48.740 to your benefit right there's concrete there's bring a hammer you could smash anything and turn it into

00:12:54.120 projectiles immediately on the fly right like these are the kinds of things that that normal people

00:13:00.520 aren't thinking about and even if they were on the street wouldn't do it so these are clearly like

00:13:04.960 these are operators right whether that it's the rally at the seiu or on the street these protests

00:13:10.640 these protesters uh it's highly organized it's definitely highly funded uh and you could just go

00:13:16.300 and see it for yourself of how smoothly they move from one thing to the other we're here with

00:13:20.540 independent journalist anthony cabasa he's been covering the battle for los angeles been been covering

00:13:25.560 it exquisitely well one thing i was wondering what's the deal with lighting the waymos on fire

00:13:31.640 yeah you know that was such an interesting development because i've actually had like

00:13:37.340 reporters from the tech world usually when i report it's usually like the new york times cnn

00:13:41.820 msnbc fox news like hey can we interview you about what what exactly happened this time around

00:13:47.460 because specifically of the waymos i had like business insider tech insider they want to know like

00:13:52.820 what why the waymos so i think that the that the connection here is that some people maybe feel

00:13:59.120 they targeted the waymos because of this new ai kind of like tech revolution obviously you have

00:14:03.740 the robo taxis just launched in texas um waymos have been around for some time now right so you

00:14:09.660 think it's a political statement because i my assumption was just a waymo would be easier to

00:14:14.860 overcome and light on fire than a car otherwise with a driver well so but what you're saying is

00:14:21.000 that is that is it that the immigrants actually are mad that the waymos are taking away the illegal

00:14:28.360 immigrant uber jobs and illegal immigrant lift jobs is that what you're saying well that's what 1.00

00:14:33.240 business insider and insider tech are thinking they're thinking that this is why they wait about

00:14:37.920 but i actually agree with you no yeah they're just because i've been protesting i've been i've been

00:14:42.160 covering protests for years uh it doesn't need to be a waymo it can be anything it can be i mean

00:14:47.720 there's buildings there there was businesses that were looted it had nothing to do with tech or ai

00:14:51.400 i agree with you they just see something i think that when they saw the waymos obviously there's no

00:14:56.500 people driving it right because if you see like if you're passing a protest and there's a family inside

00:15:00.620 with kids which i'm sure you've probably seen some videos where families with kids and they're like

00:15:04.060 i've got kids in the car please just let me leave you know etc they usually let them through

00:15:08.420 sometimes they'll kick the van sometimes whatever but they won't set it on fire but i think with the

00:15:12.940 waymo what they saw was you know they were all lined up next to each other they're autonomous and

00:15:18.220 they're probably thinking where these are you know the the company that owns it make millions they can

00:15:22.540 just file an insurance claim who cares let's just set them on fire and so that they you know once

00:15:27.740 they started beating one up mob mentality kicks in they start beating up all five cars and then they

00:15:33.120 set them all on fire will future waymos have to have riot resistance countermeasures vishborough 0.60

00:15:37.920 i mean they can try but i don't think it's going to happen i think they're just going to not have

00:15:44.140 waymos in these cities where it's but where you know especially if you have populations like this 1.00

00:15:49.560 that are just going to come clean out your fleet so so anthony you mentioned the businesses that have

00:15:54.180 been looted and if you watch the mainstream media right now there's a real effort to try to say

00:16:00.640 this was all trump's fault you know had trump not engaged this would really all be like you know

00:16:06.700 very kumbaya woodstock you have completely uh disabused the country of that narrative with

00:16:13.480 video evidence uh in in in this program and in many others that that you've done but like is there

00:16:20.460 a single business owner who has had like you know a mexican flag bash in their windows who's had some

00:16:28.840 immigrant horde run through and snatch up a bunch of stuff is there a single one of them who you think 1.00

00:16:33.940 blames trump or do you think that there's a broad recognition that these sanctuary policies invite

00:16:40.640 people in whose first act is one of lawlessness and you are not able to have reasonable enforcement

00:16:48.220 of any law because you don't have a baseline of appreciation for those laws how do you see it

00:16:54.720 yeah no absolutely so in talking with business owners and you know i've been talking to business

00:16:58.500 owners since the floyd riots and even before that there's just always civil unrest there's always

00:17:02.960 high homicide rate uh homelessness is like the number one thing talk to any business owner in

00:17:07.320 downtown la the thing they hate the most is that they have to come in earlier than they usually do

00:17:11.900 because they have to kick out the homeless from in front of their shop and they got to clean up all

00:17:15.160 the pee and all the poop and all the drugs that they've been taking overnight whatever the case

00:17:19.160 might be it's just getting to the point i'm sure you've probably seen that video where there was a

00:17:23.260 business owner that just took a hose to a homeless man yeah he refused to move out of there and then they

00:17:27.540 went and arrested the guy that was watering them down oh there's not a jury in florida that would

00:17:32.400 convict that man right exactly not a jury in florida so the sentiment is from these business owners is

00:17:38.040 this is just another day in la today it was looting uh tomorrow it'll be an assault you know whatever so

00:17:46.140 it's not that maybe they saw it as a political motive it's like oh this is trump's fault to them if

00:17:51.860 you if you really sit down and talk with them they'll just tell you this is just another day in la

00:17:56.820 it whether it was a break-in whether it was politically motivated doesn't matter these

00:18:01.060 things happen all the time businesses getting looted business being broken into homeless people

00:18:06.300 going in and stealing because there used to be a policy where as long as you steal less than 950

00:18:10.980 i'm sure you've seen it there used to be signs on the street saying remember if you're gonna steal

00:18:17.000 steal less than 950 so you don't go to jail it's just insane and so it's just policy after policy

00:18:22.820 and people are looking you know these business owners are looking at people like mayor bass

00:18:27.660 and and so imagine being a business owner and you just got your entire store ransacked and you're

00:18:35.000 looking at mayor bass like what what are you going to do about it and she's like hey guys so today's

00:18:38.980 protests were without incident and it was peaceful she's this business owner's like are you effing 0.97

00:18:44.120 kidding me like look at my shop i just lost everything and you know when i was out there in paramount

00:18:50.020 on saturday in the compton area there were actually immigrant families there i spoke to some immigrant

00:18:55.220 families that that own businesses and i was talking to them in spanish and i'm like how do you feel

00:18:59.500 about this and they're like in in spanish they were telling me this is disgusting behavior like we came

00:19:04.280 to this country and now we have this business and now we're fearing for our life that our businesses

00:19:08.800 are going to be burned down what is the city doing about this what is the mayor doing about this

00:19:12.960 and so it was kind of like this contrast because you know you have these people out there waving

00:19:17.940 national flags uh foreign flags etc i even took pictures of people with communist flags and here

00:19:24.760 you have like the like the immigrants that have done it the right way started their own business

00:19:29.280 this is all they have and now they're like i i'm about to lose everything because the city's not

00:19:35.940 taking care of this and so friday you had stand down orders saturday you had stand down orders because

00:19:41.000 what's a stand down order so basically what a stand in order is so friday the dhs agents were being

00:19:46.520 assaulted mayor bass had already said that these attacks were happening because of the trump

00:19:52.020 administration's uh increase of ice rates and so what the city didn't want is the illusion that

00:19:58.560 lapd was helping ice to any capacity because they don't want people to correlate that lapd is helping

00:20:04.400 ice even if it's just helping them take care of the protesters so all day friday you had mayor bass

00:20:09.920 and city council members saying that in no way shape or form and they were telling the immigrant

00:20:14.900 community don't worry we will not use a single police officer to assist with the ice raid and so

00:20:20.120 for for hours that puts a target on their backs that's exactly what it did so for hours dhs agents

00:20:27.060 were assaulted as lapd just set up a perimeter and did nothing that must i mean that that must have

00:20:34.060 been heartbreaking even to those cops yeah those cops didn't don't want to be caught in the middle

00:20:39.460 of stuff like that no it's politics but there's there's a feature here where denial becomes an

00:20:45.660 essential component of the strategy right they have to deny the videos that you've captured exist

00:20:51.160 on on on the activities in los angeles pre trump's order on the national guard then they have to sort

00:20:57.520 of deny that the harm caused by this battle doesn't just impact police or people on the right

00:21:05.440 it affects immigrants it affects people in poor communities people who actually expect when they

00:21:10.860 call 9-1-1 that lapd will show up and protect them because they pay their taxes and i i wonder where

00:21:17.960 that next threat of denial goes because we're going to see this spread we talk about la as the flashpoint

00:21:24.500 and it may be the most acute presentation of this behavior but you're going to see this stuff go

00:21:30.780 across the country we're already getting reports that municipal police departments are preparing

00:21:35.880 for it uh what are they what are they going to ask us to deny next i'm not sure but i mean it's it's

00:21:42.120 spread already matt to new york chicago dallas there's a big protest coming up on on saturday you know

00:21:49.220 with the no kings thing too uh and that's nationwide with the walmart lady what the that gets me that

00:21:55.640 makes my blood boil so much are you a walmart shopper i i've had a lot of money no actually

00:22:01.440 new york's i am a proud new yorker where we've actually managed to keep new walmart out of the

00:22:07.680 five boroughs and they tried really hard and we defeated them because we didn't want their cheap

00:22:13.140 products and their cheap labor uh subsidized products from china and their and their labor

00:22:18.840 standards invading our city we love our small businesses in new york city going to the walmart

00:22:23.820 is like a core feature of life in an in any like sec state in the american south yeah well but now

00:22:31.040 walmart's ties to the to these these riots and protests well i mean if you think about it all

00:22:36.340 all and think about everything we should say the person right it's this christy walton lady walton

00:22:41.580 yeah yeah to be clear not the walmart enterprise christy walton who is an heiress to that fortune one 0.98

00:22:48.180 of the wealthiest women in the world yeah well i mean look i think just think about you know

00:22:52.280 everything that like you said from the parts of the country that you're from and where walmart is

00:22:56.540 a lifeblood right everyone has you know spent their money and their livelihoods there in some

00:23:02.080 capacity and now that's being used to fund these riots all over your country uh and and who knows

00:23:09.520 how by the way when you see them say oh we're we're organizing for non-violent action that's exactly

00:23:15.680 the moment like violent action takes place and all this no king stuff has has it i mean i am just

00:23:21.880 hoping that police departments all across the country are not infected with this same politicized

00:23:28.360 madness that we're seeing in la branding of no kings isn't there sort of an implicit call for violence in

00:23:36.480 that because when america thinks about our relationship with a king we think about liberation revolution

00:23:43.840 the revolutionary war like it's it's very evoking of that and if if the fbi was targeting maga

00:23:53.440 grandmothers for liking a gif that had the betsy ross flag on it as a domestic terrorist then certainly i think 1.00

00:24:00.280 the the call to like revolution is a lot more explicit in the no kings movement than you saw in some of the

00:24:08.480 people that were in favor of the second amendment or had hashtag build the wall in their profile uh anthony

00:24:16.440 you know as you've been following this one of the questions i keep getting is it getting worse or is

00:24:21.300 it getting better or do you see this kind of uh reaching a stasis or is is are we in a in a moment

00:24:27.180 where it's building so i think that um it was so interesting because when friday went down i have a private

00:24:33.920 telegram community of like subscribers i've got about 300 people there just people that support my

00:24:37.860 work and it's kind of where i go to vent and kind of give my political commentary um an opinion piece

00:24:43.740 and on saturday morning before anything happened on saturday um in post friday's violence i actually

00:24:50.340 predicted that it was going to get worse and i said the reason why i think it's going to get worse

00:24:54.680 and i think it's still going to get worse still is because again california is such a pro-immigrant

00:25:03.340 and even illegal immigrant state that democrats here hold the power because of how much they 1.00

00:25:09.240 virtue signaled to the immigrant community that they will always be safe here i'm actually just

00:25:14.700 waiting for the day that gavin newsom sends out a national alert service if you are an illegal

00:25:19.500 immigrant come to california we will protect you from donald trump and what was so funny about 0.93

00:25:24.120 newsom's address yesterday is that i truly believe that that was his first presidential campaign

00:25:29.000 address and what are the odds that it started with no sound right and so that's why it's so comical

00:25:35.020 because it's like this was supposed to be his moment he's in office he's got the flags behind him

00:25:39.880 well-groomed slick hair right and he's like this is and and and the title of it was democracy in a

00:25:46.120 crossroad so it's an infliction point in our in our country right and so the democrats are kind of

00:25:52.660 have their backs against the wall because they've made the immigrant community and it's such a 1.00

00:25:58.820 foundational pillar of what the party is here in california that now when federal government is in

00:26:05.900 here doing their job the immigrant community whether legal or illegal are looking at democrats

00:26:11.120 like hey for years you've been saying that we are the most important people that we are the backbone

00:26:16.660 of california well put your money where your mouth is what are you going to do about these federal

00:26:21.000 agents and so that's why there's stand-down orders to local law enforcement and state law enforcement

00:26:25.580 that's why you have city councilmen on loudspeakers uh talking about how the fascists are coming

00:26:31.380 and rating and that you need to stand up and rise up uh one thing that people don't know about

00:26:35.640 saturday about that uh home depot it was all started by a city council member because what he

00:26:42.200 noticed and he was just running out doing like an errand or something and he posted a video saying that

00:26:47.760 he noticed an unmarked black vehicle go into a place across home depot so he speculated i think

00:26:55.340 the federal government is here so he activated all these protesters start going and what's crazy is

00:27:01.780 that they actually didn't raid that home depot that place was a staging area so that ice agents can go

00:27:08.280 out and raid different cities and i can actually report to you guys here this is exclusive i actually got

00:27:14.740 invited to an ice embed uh this week and i got to see who these ice agents working with fbi dhs

00:27:21.900 and now i can actually report because uh the new york times posted it today but i actually knew this

00:27:26.540 yesterday that the national guard is being trained to go out with ice agents uh because of the targets

00:27:32.900 that is now on ice agents uh back so they're going out with humvees to do these ice raids across la

00:27:37.900 and i've got the i've got the pictures to to prove it i i still got to like blur out faces here and

00:27:42.900 there uh per their request uh but you know they showed me the profiles of the people that they're

00:27:48.180 targeting these are people that have committed some of the most heinous acts imaginable people think

00:27:54.640 that like oh ice is going out and they're just going to grab your grandma you know it's like well

00:27:58.280 i was in an embed and i got to see the profiles they showed me the long rap sheet you know there was a

00:28:03.540 guy that has been here and and of course open borders policies for four years under biden these

00:28:08.720 people are just able to come back and come back and come back they get taken back to mexico uh who

00:28:14.180 knows how the judicial system is out there you know who knows how how many judges are bought off by

00:28:18.280 cartel but these people are somehow able to come right back a couple months later um or sometimes

00:28:23.500 weeks later um and so what we have in california is you have gavin newson that just spent maybe close

00:28:30.400 six months podcasting and showing how uh he's willing to reach across the aisle and be kind of

00:28:37.160 a moderate and like oh look i'll sit down with charlie kirk and and laugh and and say you know

00:28:42.120 cap you know and say these things these buzzwords that the younger generation is saying and showing

00:28:47.540 people i'm willing to you know again reach across the aisle for the sake of democracy but now it's

00:28:54.740 it's shifting now everyone's looking to newsom because again los angeles california is ground zero

00:29:01.020 because if donald trump can't show the nation that he's willing to go above and beyond to fulfill his

00:29:07.340 promise that he was elected to do then what does he expect to do in in in other states like oregon

00:29:12.820 or or washington right so i think the operations are going to expand to these blue states but he but

00:29:18.260 california is like the bulwark and so people are looking at you know to gavin newsom the left liberals

00:29:24.420 just watch in the next couple months what's going to happen gavin newsom is going to be propped up as

00:29:30.020 the savior he's going to be the complete anti-thesis to donald trump and when he goes to run he's going

00:29:36.940 to show all these clips of children separated children deported all these clips need to be like

00:29:41.780 vote for me and what's kind of scary to think about is that if the trump administration

00:29:46.420 not necessarily trump because i think he's doing everything he can and he's shown that he means

00:29:50.240 business um but if the trump administration if the fbi the doj don't go down with the hammer as as they

00:29:57.760 should for the next couple years what i fear is think of all you know the federal people uh government

00:30:04.500 officials uh or workers usa id all these places that have been uh defunded all these people that are

00:30:11.940 have been fired doesn't matter what their political leaning is they might have even voted for trump and

00:30:16.240 they're like damn i'm out of a job i didn't think it was going to hit me um and and then you have the 0.63

00:30:21.740 sob stories of people getting deported of i have a friend i and and this is you know this is very real 0.97

00:30:28.180 and this is something that we need to acknowledge is i know trump supporters that were diehard trump

00:30:33.280 supporters they voted for him and now they're just like i i just got my i had no idea my best friend

00:30:38.460 of 20 years was an illegal immigrant they just got deported i i interviewed people yesterday uh doing

00:30:43.720 the protest and i asked them why are you here and they're like you know i'm a republican but

00:30:48.360 my my best friends both parents they just got deported i had no idea that they were that

00:30:53.040 so you're gonna have a lot of people that through sympathy might be rethinking how they vote in 2026

00:30:58.300 and say maybe i went too far but that's the idea gavin newsom and democrats are going to paint this

00:31:03.740 thing like you made a mistake here's how you correct it elect us and what i fear the most just to like

00:31:09.380 end it real quick uh what i fear the most is is is is that going to be enough to to swing the

00:31:15.900 pendulum back the other way and what i fear the most is you know you kind of have a weak gop right

00:31:20.380 now democrats will take full power you thought four years under president biden the pandemic lockdowns

00:31:26.140 were bad just wait till what comes should democrats get elected in 2026 retake the house retake the

00:31:33.340 senate and if they win the presidency in 2028 it's scary stuff to think about because

00:31:37.680 look at what they're willing to do right now it's going to get a lot worse in 2028 so i i hope this

00:31:44.000 administration is listening and i hope that uh people are laying down the law and speaker johnson is

00:31:48.880 able to grow a bigger spine and and really like hey we're not messing around here you know yeah i don't

00:31:54.900 know that mike johnson's the savior of the republic but but i would push back and say this the revealing

00:32:01.780 response from from democrats i think takes a lot of those suburbanites that voted democrat in the

00:32:09.920 2018 midterms for example and it swings them to the republican side because democrats are showing you

00:32:17.980 what they would do with power and it is very scary and it is very racialized and i think that you know

00:32:25.920 even the people who don't like the fact that there might be someone who they think has made a positive

00:32:30.960 contribution to the country that has to leave now they have to acknowledge that's what trump said he

00:32:34.620 was going to do you know you may not like it right it may be someone that that you think on par we're

00:32:40.580 better off with but like this was the plan like what are democrats going to do like throw elon musk in

00:32:47.440 jail make tesla illegal and like go light 10 waymos on fire if they get power to start a city council 0.93

00:32:55.680 meeting i know they're not going to start with like the pledge and the prayer but but but adjudicate

00:33:01.460 this for us vish because cabasa is saying there is a risk of pushing too hard here uh i am like

00:33:08.320 the most exciting part of your response to me is that we may be lashing guard resources to ice resources

00:33:14.580 to accelerate the deportations and how delightful that would be if if the way these woke topians 1.00

00:33:21.300 uh poked the bear in los angeles county then resulted in a nationwide mobilization of the

00:33:28.360 national guard to go assist ice and deportation efforts that would be the chef's kiss but i'll

00:33:33.100 let you adjudicate it i you know i think that that there might there is something to what anthony is

00:33:39.800 saying where there might be a few people who turn and say yeah i'm a republican but i think trump's gone

00:33:46.000 too far with these deportations i think that number is fewer than the people who would be upset

00:33:51.540 if trump doesn't get a handle on the situation right now that we're putting like the riots because

00:33:56.480 that was a big part of a lot of people who are on our side that were upset in 2020 when the george

00:34:03.940 floyd riots you know went on for as long as they did uh you know we talk about the rodney king riots in

00:34:10.300 in la and all this stuff the rodney king riots were six days right that was it and it was done

00:34:15.980 and so crazy to think about yeah because it was so searing on the national consciousness right

00:34:20.520 and so you read about that stuff in in social studies class exactly and so now what think about

00:34:26.940 that if you allow these things to go on longer than the rodney king riots this is the stuff we

00:34:32.760 should be teaching but it's also i think that that is a big problem that if that that and with the

00:34:39.060 mandate trump should understand that you don't want to lose the energy of your base i think that

00:34:43.920 that's why a response here he has to be he hasn't you know it has to be strong i also think how you map

00:34:50.800 out these networks and deal with them is really important okay any group that has funded these

00:34:58.760 riots organize them increase their criminal acuity deserves to be treated like they were funding

00:35:05.880 january 6th they need to have their bank accounts frozen i'm i'm not talking about subpoenas you know

00:35:12.700 rudy giuliani didn't get the benefit of a subpoena right he had federal agents showing up at his

00:35:17.260 apartment roger stone didn't have the benefit of hey you know come let's talk about this they went and

00:35:23.720 drug him out in his underwear at gunpoint and so i i think that we are now to the point in the battle

00:35:29.840 for los angeles where really really great people like pam bondy and cash patel need to be focusing

00:35:36.840 resources on the financial networks okay rounding up some thugs or some gang bangers or some hood rats

00:35:47.460 and locking them up that is not what this moment calls for no i am not interested in the quantity of

00:35:54.980 arrests of people lighting waymos on fire i'm interested in how hard we pull on these networks

00:36:01.300 and we have the tools to do it i know the people who are in these jobs in the federal government

00:36:05.300 i know they are smart i know they are capable i know that they uh appreciate the context that we're

00:36:11.900 living in and if what what anthony's right about is god forbid if this thing swings back the other way

00:36:18.360 they're going to activate these violent networks with the backing of the government yeah right now

00:36:24.120 they're doing it in the face of the government right and if that is not quelled and put down

00:36:29.440 we are we are looking at something very dark well i well i think if i were in the administration right

00:36:34.960 now i'd be licking my chops at this situation you have you have the people on the ground going crazy

00:36:39.880 lighting these waymos on fire there's you know there's something to show there but there's also

00:36:44.800 like you said this this just funding from seiu was on that that rally stage obviously they organized

00:36:50.980 churla churla psl they're all here they're all the all the money's coming here just bust it wide

00:36:57.600 open right none of these people have any special immunity right where they would they would be able

00:37:01.920 to block their financial transactions from review and there's there are domestic terrorism statutes

00:37:07.120 that were used against maga there were counterterrorism authorities there were joint terrorism task

00:37:13.180 forces that were spun up in washington dc you know that were chasing down people worshiping at a catholic

00:37:19.200 church go into a school board meeting because they didn't like critical race theory showing up you

00:37:23.740 know unmasked at a town hall meeting and then sharing online that they aligned with a conservative

00:37:30.580 viewpoint and so this is an absolute must for this moment but it's it's it's not those groups that

00:37:37.160 have been arrested yet it was independent journalist anthony who was almost on the wrong side of the law

00:37:44.540 walk us through it yeah no and and just to kind of like circle back you know uh what i meant in the

00:37:49.760 warning of i don't think that i'm uh i'm not telling like president trump or the administration hey be

00:37:54.620 careful how hard you go what i'm actually saying me personally is we need to go harder we need to open

00:38:00.240 up these networks because if we don't come after them that's what i mean is you're going to have all

00:38:04.340 these apathetic people that or sympathetic people that are like okay i'm going to vote this way and if

00:38:08.680 we're still kind of like at that 51 49 nation of like oh we're barely going to vote one way or the

00:38:14.220 other um but what i will say is that on the you're saying bang i gotta draw a fine point on that yeah

00:38:21.340 what you're really saying is we assume you're gonna lose it and go like crazy go all in to fix the

00:38:27.500 problems now that's exactly hell or high water fix the problems now do whatever it takes like literally

00:38:33.140 do whatever it takes use i mean we have i think libs of tiktok on twitter she's actively how you

00:38:38.900 know what she did she's like wait a minute they came after us for january 6th we're coming after

00:38:43.240 them so now they're cropping people's faces and they're running these you know and it's all like

00:38:47.740 citizen done i'm like well why isn't the fbi like remember sedition hunters when they were coming up

00:38:52.560 start doing the same thing so that's actually what i'm saying is we're not going hard enough we need

00:38:57.000 to go way harder assume we are going to lose so do everything you can to make everything to give

00:39:02.580 the left the democrats as little ammunition and as little funneling money organizations as you can

00:39:08.820 so that things don't escalate to the point where we just have nationwide riots again there's like well

00:39:14.380 you know we did our best but unfortunately somehow they're still being funded no open up investigations 0.81

00:39:20.180 um and so because what i will say too is and this is what i was getting to is that stupidly uh these 0.75

00:39:27.400 protesters are doing exactly what most people hate they're starting to light things on fire 0.95

00:39:33.580 they're starting to assault police officers because no matter what doesn't matter if you agree with the

00:39:39.060 immigration or not what the enforcement you start seeing this small businesses being torn down

00:39:44.900 automatically you're back to where you were because you're right you're so you're like oh i voted for

00:39:48.980 president trump oh man but it's but it's thing and then you're looking like oh wait a minute they're

00:39:53.140 burning stuff again hell no i'm still voting this way you know because as much as bad as i feel that

00:39:58.940 but trump has to fix it is your point exactly yeah and so because that's what i was talking about the

00:40:03.500 difference between trump 1.0 and trump 2.0 is a lot of people felt like the riots nationwide were not

00:40:09.140 handled well at the federal level and so i think that that's what trump is doing right this time

00:40:13.080 is that he's activating the national guard and the us marines and what people don't understand

00:40:17.080 is that you know i'm down there i'm i'm um video recording everything that's happening

00:40:22.000 a lot of people have this misconception like even some republicans are like well why isn't the

00:40:26.400 national guard tackling down protesters that's not what they're there for trump still has to operate

00:40:30.840 under federal authority he can't just order federal agents to begin arresting people if they have no

00:40:35.440 authority unless maybe they're deputized by the city which i don't see happening because

00:40:39.420 lapd lasd uh unions and and leadership are in bed yes something tells me that if this thing breaks

00:40:47.460 worse trump isn't going to be checking the union contract oh right no exactly tell the military what

00:40:52.340 to do and that's what i'm saying and so uh so there was a lot of republicans that were really pissed

00:40:56.820 off that the national guard wasn't actively pushing back but what what the national guard allows local

00:41:02.800 law enforcement to do is you have these federal buildings that are being attacked and and defaced

00:41:07.720 and vandalized so the federal agents are there to protect the federal buildings what that now allows

00:41:13.180 the local law enforcement to do is to go out there and make the arrests they're out there controlling

00:41:18.080 the mob because before you know doing the george village riots police were very scattered everywhere

00:41:24.120 because they had to protect buildings and they had to protect government buildings and so they're

00:41:29.220 already spread thin because they don't have enough personnel and so what the federal government allows them

00:41:34.040 to do now is like hey we'll take care of the buildings you guys just go out there and make

00:41:38.180 the arrests and so i i ended up on when was it sunday night uh we had today's like wednesday right i think

00:41:45.700 but uh sunday night uh i ended up uh it's called like a kettling it's basically when they surround you

00:41:51.380 the police uh after hours of telling everybody to disperse and that there's been an unlawful assembly

00:41:56.840 declared uh they say anyone left is subject to arrest and it doesn't matter at that point if you're

00:42:02.040 media if you're not media if you get kettled in if you get completely surrounded by police

00:42:05.700 they then get on a loudspeaker and say everyone here is under arrest all the time though i wouldn't

00:42:11.240 say that there's even one time where it hasn't happened but all the time they always let the

00:42:14.620 media out so you just come up you show them your media credentials they're like hey you know try not

00:42:18.980 to get kettled in next time and they'll let you go but uh one thing i have noticed this time around

00:42:23.700 versus other times is they're actually arresting people this time and they're actually taking them down

00:42:27.960 i don't know what happens afterward i don't know if they're just getting cited you know mayor bass

00:42:32.760 today put out a video saying that she wants the city to come united and to go clean up the mess that

00:42:37.160 the protesters left so she's asking the city she's asking us by the way the nerve absolutely what are

00:42:44.320 you paying taxes for like but the thing is is like hey how about instead you're arresting dozens of

00:42:50.240 people hundreds of people how about instead of just citing them giving them a slap in the hand and

00:42:55.120 letting them go free how about you give them mandatory uh community service hours and you

00:43:00.820 have them go clean up the mess but of course you know if that'd be too much accountability exactly

00:43:06.400 it would make too much sense it's look it it's incredible stuff and i really really look forward

00:43:12.420 to more of your reports uh right from the scene but from the destruction of los angeles to the

00:43:17.980 destruction of the globe we go because director of national intelligence tulsi gabbard put out a video

00:43:24.700 that really caught my attention this week take a listen a single nuclear weapon today could kill

00:43:30.860 millions in just minutes just one of these nuclear bombs would vaporize everything at its core people

00:43:38.160 buildings life itself the shockwave would crush structures miles away killing and maiming countless

00:43:46.000 people and then comes the fallout radioactive poison spreading through the air water and soil

00:43:52.460 condemning survivors to agonizing deaths or lifelong suffering a nuclear winter could follow with

00:44:00.240 smoke and ash completely blocking the sun plunging the world into darkness and cold killing crops

00:44:06.440 and starving billions acid rain would scar the earth wiping out entire ecosystems

00:44:13.300 this isn't some made-up science fiction story this is the reality of what's at stake what we are facing

00:44:21.680 now because as we stand here today closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before

00:44:28.200 political elite and warmongers are carelessly fomenting fear and tensions between nuclear powers

00:44:35.040 perhaps it's because they are confident that they will have access to nuclear shelters for themselves and

00:44:41.700 for their families that regular people won't have access to so it's up to us the people to speak up

00:44:50.580 and demand an end to this madness we must reject this path to nuclear war and work toward a world where

00:44:58.760 no one has to live in fear of a nuclear holocaust 0.95

00:45:03.100 every person i talked to who watched that video saw something different in it drew something different

00:45:12.440 from it what i saw was a woman who understands foreign policy who understands the risk that comes with

00:45:19.980 excessive entanglement in these forever wars that can turn in to powder kegs someone who appreciated that

00:45:27.120 when america is in battle we must vanquish any foe and we must preserve uh our the cause of freedom

00:45:35.460 but at the same time being being in a fisticuffs with other nuclear powers is deeply unwise what did

00:45:44.840 you take from it fish my take was that this was some kind of soft signal to the world that like

00:45:51.540 that that our admit the trump administration will not allow iran to have a nuclear you think this

00:45:57.680 was an iran message i think it was i thought it was a russia message i thought it was a message from

00:46:02.760 tulsa gabber to the world saying look we need to we need to resolve this russia ukraine war without

00:46:09.480 blowing up the planet earth three times over you think it was get ready for the offense against iran

00:46:15.180 yes i think it was and we're already getting reports that israel is is prepping for something

00:46:20.020 against iran you know uh just recently so i think that this is a a a calm down to israel like hey

00:46:28.680 don't move we will make sure this is how seriously we take it so don't don't make a move on iran

00:46:33.740 anthony cabasa what did you think when you saw your director of national intelligence warn you about

00:46:38.480 nuclear war yeah so i actually hadn't seen it until i almost uh before we got on the show

00:46:44.020 and uh what the reports that i was reading was the same as you was that uh it looks like israel is

00:46:49.560 getting ready to attack iran and there's all these reports first it kind of started with like military

00:46:54.440 drawdowns uh they were putting bases in the middle east at uh high the highest alert and then right

00:47:00.840 before i came in as i was parking i got a notification saying that all military members families across the

00:47:07.260 entire middle east are being evacuated from the middle east so i mean you know i i've been fall i i track

00:47:13.820 a lot of these uh like uh they're called like open uh intel or pages that just you know they're able

00:47:19.800 to kind of put pieces together and uh when whenever i've seen uh serious attacks get heightened that's

00:47:27.280 when you usually see air spaces being closed down embassies being put alert people being evacuated and

00:47:32.620 then usually a strike happens so i'm actually kind of on the side of vish i think that uh it it wasn't

00:47:40.100 an accident that that video came out specifically today uh because all signs are leading to israel

00:47:46.540 is getting ready to strike iran which is you know israel's already published report saying that

00:47:51.160 uh netanyahu is saying we're going to strike whether a deal is made with iran or not we just can't do it

00:47:56.060 and then today also pete hegseth confirmed that there's use intel that they know that iran is set

00:48:04.100 to finalize a nuclear weapon so i mean you know you you put out what p hegseth is doing the reports

00:48:11.220 that embassies are on high alert uh the fact that military members uh family are being evacuated and

00:48:17.680 then now you have this video talking about nuclear fallout i think tulsi you know i don't think that

00:48:22.200 she put it out as uh hey i'm telling you guys we're about to go to war i think she put it out like

00:48:27.320 you said like hey we need to calm down and kind of selling sending that message to israel to settle 0.78

00:48:32.740 the horses like hey we need to if you guys go in there and just strike iran you guys are not thinking

00:48:38.640 about the long term you know you're not you're not thinking that because i was just uh listening to a

00:48:43.560 report i was watching uh tim pool on the way down on the drive down uh to the studio and he was talking

00:48:48.880 about how um iran signed a treaty with uh russia like saying that they were they're willing to back

00:48:56.540 each other out three days before president trump became president i assumed the office on january

00:49:00.580 17th of this year so i'm just kind of like you know tinfoil hat here hopefully i'm allowed to just

00:49:06.780 kind of speak freely but i'm thinking to myself now we've got national guard deploying the cities

00:49:11.240 we've got u.s marines being trained and national guardsmen being trained to control protests

00:49:15.300 i'm thinking to myself going back to your question are things about to get worse if you think the

00:49:20.220 protests are bad now wait to the new king's day you know funded by walmart not you know

00:49:25.060 uh allegedly you know don't come after us legally um wait till the anti-war protesters

00:49:31.420 start coming out and those are going to be left and right these are going to be people that are like

00:49:35.920 no more forever wars you know and so i think that we're headed into a summer of

00:49:40.740 not just civil unrest but i think global unrest what a cliffhanger for our episode yes it was a

00:49:46.400 member of the walton family where can people continue to follow your journalism yeah if you guys want
