00:02:09.400 that this is uh so much more different than like let's say the george floyd riots which i also covered

00:02:15.000 um you know kind of that all obviously started off with kind of uh you know people versus the

00:02:21.080 police and kind of like law enforcement and police brutality uh the message here i think it's so much

00:02:27.400 more bigger than that in the sense that it's looking like it's shaping up to be kind of uh los angeles

00:02:33.260 is going to be like ground zero uh for the trump administration immigration policy and so i think

00:02:41.200 that what we're looking at is you know we had kind of trump 1.0 where you know there were deportations

00:02:47.760 there was obviously strong border security uh but this time around he's got a national mandate

00:02:52.540 in which the people said we we we need you to go into these communities and get these people out of

00:02:58.640 here let's let's uh delve into that question because i think it's a i think you're right and i think it's

00:03:09.340 is ground zero for the battle for trump's immigration agenda now i think the left would love

00:03:16.840 the uh you know some random court in maryland or connecticut to be ground zero but when you've got

00:03:30.940 justification in the world for president trump utilizing the full scope of his executive authority

00:04:52.800 but why is that good why is that good but it's also and let me tell you this it's also good because

00:04:58.000 the fight is now on the the the battlefield where trump is the strongest whether it's on the message

00:05:17.160 think about what's happening and they're like oh man is it is does trump really want this that it

00:05:22.820 seems like he wants this and i'm like and i'm not saying anything to them for many different reasons

00:05:47.120 with gavin newsom does gavin newsom want la county to be the flashpoint of this as well for his own

00:06:06.640 he wants it i think i'm i mean he already said you know he's daring the the administration to come

00:06:11.580 arrest him i think he wants it and remember we saw that glenn ivy clip of the town hall where these

00:06:17.060 supporters are demanding you know are you ready to get arrested to defend the people right and it

00:06:22.120 looks like gavin newsom is saying yes now the funny thing is to me that i first thought of gavin newsom as

00:06:29.240 like a sociopathic like operator but he's actually way more clumsy than that it seems and especially if

00:06:35.180 you saw his uh address his emergency address the other day where he came out and there was no audio on

00:06:41.100 it like and it was like a big moment and some staffer just blew the audio on the on the whole

00:06:46.860 thing so that yeah that had ever happened to you with me or santos you'd have been in deep trouble

00:06:51.820 or ban so i said so i think he wants he wants it too but this is a spot that that he's just going

00:06:58.640 to lose because as long as trump comes out uh pounding not just the message but the resources

00:07:09.020 the launch point for this movement but now anthony you know bring us into the reporting bring us into

00:07:14.860 kind of where you first go to encounter some of these images that you've been displaying for the

00:07:21.440 world that you know we've been showing on this podcast that are very stark that show the the damage

00:07:26.400 the unrest and the violence yeah so um i've lived and i grew up and was born in la county and so uh

00:07:35.260 what's kind of cool about being an independent journalist out here is that i you know a lot of

00:07:39.800 people have moved out of la county including other journalists um that i originated here in la and they

00:07:45.820 just moved on to to greener pastures i guess uh but so me staying here i've had the opportunity to

00:07:51.860 when i see things happening i just drive right down and it takes 20 30 minutes to get there

00:07:56.480 and so and that's important for this reason i got there on friday when it actually all started so

00:08:02.240 this is pre any thoughts or statements by the president of this administration about the

00:08:07.440 national guard coming out and that's important because gavin newsom is making it seem like it

00:08:12.420 was a national guard deployment that started the violence but some of the videos that you just played

00:08:17.360 were actually from the day before friday so this video right here that's being played that's friday

00:08:21.820 that's the violence that was already happening and uh right here on the left hand side are the dhs

00:08:27.720 agents that are trapped inside there you go you can see them uh they don't have the manpower they

00:08:33.200 don't have the resources that's why and the thing is this is federal uh property right here so lapd

00:08:40.080 really doesn't have any jurisdiction from my understanding to just go in there and grab

00:08:43.480 these protesters because that's federal property and so what's what's happening here is they're

00:08:49.020 viciously attacking dhs agents they were launching items at them uh that this very same day

00:08:54.680 there were uh protesters in this crowd that were grabbing hammers and breaking down public property

00:09:00.060 cement where were they getting the were they do you bring your own hammer or is there some sort of

00:09:04.240 like distribution of cinder blocks or hammers or anything like that well a lot of these anarchists

00:09:10.200 that embed themselves into these protests um they already bring the equipment with them they have

00:09:15.780 tactical gear they have small weapons uh what are we seeing here with some of these so this is

00:09:20.840 actually saturday the day after and this is a pallets of brick that i had discovered uh so this

00:09:27.160 is technically a home depot so a lot of people were like well it's a home depot it shouldn't be a

00:09:31.400 surprise but um if you watch the full clip it's the only pallet there that's why i kept zooming in

00:09:37.780 and i'm like well sure it could be a home depot but where's the rest of the pallets like there's no

00:09:43.480 pallets of anything else there's no pallets of manure there's no pallets of anything else home depot

00:09:48.040 cells except for the bricks and look it's outside the gate the gate is closed there's two pallets

00:09:53.480 right outside the gate meaning anyone can just walk up and you see the rest of the pallets all

00:09:57.080 the way in the back and what are the odds that of course the pallets are there within striking

00:10:01.560 distance of the dhs agents uh and they're of course the protesters saw them you know and and started

00:10:07.860 breaking them down and they started making barriers with them this is a perfect example right here but

00:10:12.920 then they were also breaking them down to throw at dhs agents so we had two full days matt

00:10:17.360 two full days of quote-unquote peaceful protesting before there was even any talks

00:10:22.400 of the national guard being activated uh and one of the most surprising things to me was that the lapd

00:10:29.080 themselves their press uh office came out and said that uh they had two successful days of peaceful

00:10:35.520 protest without incident but my footage shows otherwise and so when the problem is is that you had

00:10:44.700 maxine waters you had gavin newsom and you had la mayor bass and lapd putting out these statements

00:10:50.480 which if you kind of look into the lapd union you'll see that they've endorsed uh karen bass and

00:10:55.500 there's kind of like some uh deals being made there uh even after the palisade fires one of the people

00:11:00.900 that were openly vocal of supporting karen bass's actions post fire was the lapd union they were saying

00:11:06.920 like hey no she's doing a great job you know uh so not knocking the police officers but sometimes

00:11:11.980 leadership and if you take a look at la uh fire department right now they're under investigation

00:11:16.580 they just fired the main union guy uh and it looks like there's embezzling money so these unions are

00:11:22.100 in bed with democrats with the political establishment of absolutely so if you want to go into like uh

00:11:28.440 who's funding all of this you look no further than the unions specifically the teachers unions

00:11:33.820 are here seiu seem to have seiu uh role they you were you were you were covering the seiu rally and

00:11:40.640 it was shocking to me that such a mainstream organization would be platforming voices that

00:11:46.900 were calling for socialist revolution yeah uh a is it union members who are going to to these rallies

00:11:55.900 there was a definitely a ton of union members you could identify the union members uh with their purple

00:12:01.220 shirts that they were wearing uh the place was littered with them i mean the whole thing was

00:12:05.720 organized by them they were working the gate they were giving away free food uh obviously you know

00:13:52.820 what why the waymos so i think that the that the connection here is that some people maybe feel

00:13:59.120 they targeted the waymos because of this new ai kind of like tech revolution obviously you have

00:14:03.740 the robo taxis just launched in texas um waymos have been around for some time now right so you

00:14:09.660 think it's a political statement because i my assumption was just a waymo would be easier to

00:14:14.860 overcome and light on fire than a car otherwise with a driver well so but what you're saying is

00:14:21.000 that is that is it that the immigrants actually are mad that the waymos are taking away the illegal

00:17:07.320 downtown la the thing they hate the most is that they have to come in earlier than they usually do

00:17:11.900 because they have to kick out the homeless from in front of their shop and they got to clean up all

00:17:15.160 the pee and all the poop and all the drugs that they've been taking overnight whatever the case

00:17:19.160 might be it's just getting to the point i'm sure you've probably seen that video where there was a

00:17:23.260 business owner that just took a hose to a homeless man yeah he refused to move out of there and then they

00:17:27.540 went and arrested the guy that was watering them down oh there's not a jury in florida that would

00:17:32.400 convict that man right exactly not a jury in florida so the sentiment is from these business owners is

00:17:38.040 this is just another day in la today it was looting uh tomorrow it'll be an assault you know whatever so

00:17:46.140 it's not that maybe they saw it as a political motive it's like oh this is trump's fault to them if

00:17:51.860 you if you really sit down and talk with them they'll just tell you this is just another day in la

00:18:35.000 looking at mayor bass like what what are you going to do about it and she's like hey guys so today's

00:18:38.980 protests were without incident and it was peaceful she's this business owner's like are you effing

00:18:44.120 kidding me like look at my shop i just lost everything and you know when i was out there in paramount

00:18:50.020 on saturday in the compton area there were actually immigrant families there i spoke to some immigrant

00:18:55.220 families that that own businesses and i was talking to them in spanish and i'm like how do you feel

00:18:59.500 about this and they're like in in spanish they were telling me this is disgusting behavior like we came

00:19:04.280 to this country and now we have this business and now we're fearing for our life that our businesses

00:19:08.800 are going to be burned down what is the city doing about this what is the mayor doing about this

00:19:12.960 and so it was kind of like this contrast because you know you have these people out there waving

00:19:17.940 national flags uh foreign flags etc i even took pictures of people with communist flags and here

00:19:24.760 you have like the like the immigrants that have done it the right way started their own business

00:19:29.280 this is all they have and now they're like i i'm about to lose everything because the city's not

00:19:35.940 taking care of this and so friday you had stand down orders saturday you had stand down orders because

00:19:41.000 what's a stand down order so basically what a stand in order is so friday the dhs agents were being

00:19:46.520 assaulted mayor bass had already said that these attacks were happening because of the trump

00:19:52.020 administration's uh increase of ice rates and so what the city didn't want is the illusion that

00:19:58.560 lapd was helping ice to any capacity because they don't want people to correlate that lapd is helping

00:20:04.400 ice even if it's just helping them take care of the protesters so all day friday you had mayor bass

00:20:09.920 and city council members saying that in no way shape or form and they were telling the immigrant

00:20:14.900 community don't worry we will not use a single police officer to assist with the ice raid and so

00:20:20.120 for for hours that puts a target on their backs that's exactly what it did so for hours dhs agents

00:20:27.060 were assaulted as lapd just set up a perimeter and did nothing that must i mean that that must have

00:20:34.060 been heartbreaking even to those cops yeah those cops didn't don't want to be caught in the middle

00:21:10.860 call 9-1-1 that lapd will show up and protect them because they pay their taxes and i i wonder where

00:21:17.960 that next threat of denial goes because we're going to see this spread we talk about la as the flashpoint

00:21:24.500 and it may be the most acute presentation of this behavior but you're going to see this stuff go

00:21:30.780 across the country we're already getting reports that municipal police departments are preparing

00:21:35.880 for it uh what are they what are they going to ask us to deny next i'm not sure but i mean it's it's

00:21:49.220 with the no kings thing too uh and that's nationwide with the walmart lady what the that gets me that

00:21:55.640 makes my blood boil so much are you a walmart shopper i i've had a lot of money no actually

00:22:01.440 new york's i am a proud new yorker where we've actually managed to keep new walmart out of the

00:22:07.680 five boroughs and they tried really hard and we defeated them because we didn't want their cheap

00:22:13.140 products and their cheap labor uh subsidized products from china and their and their labor

00:22:18.840 standards invading our city we love our small businesses in new york city going to the walmart

00:22:23.820 is like a core feature of life in an in any like sec state in the american south yeah well but now

00:22:31.040 walmart's ties to the to these these riots and protests well i mean if you think about it all

00:22:41.580 yeah yeah to be clear not the walmart enterprise christy walton who is an heiress to that fortune one

00:22:52.280 everything that like you said from the parts of the country that you're from and where walmart is

00:22:56.540 a lifeblood right everyone has you know spent their money and their livelihoods there in some

00:23:02.080 capacity and now that's being used to fund these riots all over your country uh and and who knows

00:23:09.520 how by the way when you see them say oh we're we're organizing for non-violent action that's exactly

00:23:15.680 the moment like violent action takes place and all this no king stuff has has it i mean i am just

00:23:21.880 hoping that police departments all across the country are not infected with this same politicized

00:23:28.360 madness that we're seeing in la branding of no kings isn't there sort of an implicit call for violence in

00:23:36.480 that because when america thinks about our relationship with a king we think about liberation revolution

00:23:43.840 the revolutionary war like it's it's very evoking of that and if if the fbi was targeting maga

00:23:53.440 grandmothers for liking a gif that had the betsy ross flag on it as a domestic terrorist then certainly i think

00:24:00.280 the the call to like revolution is a lot more explicit in the no kings movement than you saw in some of the

00:24:08.480 people that were in favor of the second amendment or had hashtag build the wall in their profile uh anthony

00:24:16.440 you know as you've been following this one of the questions i keep getting is it getting worse or is

00:24:21.300 it getting better or do you see this kind of uh reaching a stasis or is is are we in a in a moment

00:24:27.180 where it's building so i think that um it was so interesting because when friday went down i have a private

00:24:33.920 telegram community of like subscribers i've got about 300 people there just people that support my

00:24:37.860 work and it's kind of where i go to vent and kind of give my political commentary um an opinion piece

00:24:43.740 and on saturday morning before anything happened on saturday um in post friday's violence i actually

00:24:50.340 predicted that it was going to get worse and i said the reason why i think it's going to get worse

00:24:54.680 and i think it's still going to get worse still is because again california is such a pro-immigrant

00:25:03.340 and even illegal immigrant state that democrats here hold the power because of how much they

00:25:09.240 virtue signaled to the immigrant community that they will always be safe here i'm actually just

00:25:14.700 waiting for the day that gavin newsom sends out a national alert service if you are an illegal

00:25:19.500 immigrant come to california we will protect you from donald trump and what was so funny about

00:25:24.120 newsom's address yesterday is that i truly believe that that was his first presidential campaign

00:25:29.000 address and what are the odds that it started with no sound right and so that's why it's so comical

00:25:35.020 because it's like this was supposed to be his moment he's in office he's got the flags behind him

00:26:05.900 here doing their job the immigrant community whether legal or illegal are looking at democrats

00:26:21.000 agents and so that's why there's stand-down orders to local law enforcement and state law enforcement

00:26:31.380 and rating and that you need to stand up and rise up uh one thing that people don't know about

00:26:35.640 saturday about that uh home depot it was all started by a city council member because what he

00:26:42.200 noticed and he was just running out doing like an errand or something and he posted a video saying that

00:26:47.760 he noticed an unmarked black vehicle go into a place across home depot so he speculated i think

00:26:55.340 the federal government is here so he activated all these protesters start going and what's crazy is

00:27:01.780 that they actually didn't raid that home depot that place was a staging area so that ice agents can go

00:27:08.280 out and raid different cities and i can actually report to you guys here this is exclusive i actually got

00:27:14.740 invited to an ice embed uh this week and i got to see who these ice agents working with fbi dhs

00:27:21.900 and now i can actually report because uh the new york times posted it today but i actually knew this
