00:08:08.020 but they can't substitute for political courage. We simply are not going to innovate our way out

00:08:14.040 of this one. We have to do the hard work of improving the quality of the humans in the

00:08:20.500 country, not just surveilling them so they can be better managed. Flock promises safety without

00:08:27.220 social repair. The bargain is tempting because rebuilding order is difficult, but Americans

00:08:33.200 should refuse it. Rewarding the people who created this crisis with the power to monitor

00:08:39.000 every movement will not restore a high-trust society. It will lock law-abiding citizens

00:08:45.400 inside an open-air prison while the disorder continues beyond the camera's reach.
