00:00:22.980 Earlier this week, Charlie Kirk reported that President Trump was facing significant pressure
00:00:27.520 from the GOP donor class to strike a bipartisan deal that would provide amnesty
00:00:32.460 to illegal aliens working in agriculture and hospitality.
00:00:37.100 Establishment Republicans have always hated Trump,
00:00:40.140 and the fact that his supporters have demanded true border security and immigration enforcement
00:00:45.200 has played a major role in that animosity.
00:00:48.700 By itself, large corporations lobbying the Trump administration
00:00:52.180 to attempt to keep their slave-wage immigrant workforce
00:00:55.240 shouldn't really surprise or concern anyone,
00:00:57.460 but the fact that Trump has started to repeat their rhetoric,
00:01:00.560 that certainly should.
00:01:02.560 Now, Donald Trump says a lot of things,
00:01:04.760 and anyone who gets emotionally exasperated at any single statement
00:01:08.520 will start to look like a hysterical journalist.
00:01:11.420 I don't know who coined the phrase,
00:01:13.140 take Trump seriously, not literally,
00:01:15.820 but that was some great advice.
00:01:17.800 The president will fire off lines about annexing Canada,
00:01:21.080 but no one takes serious action over this stuff.
00:01:23.920 That said, Trump is also very receptive to public opinion
00:01:28.100 and often seems to be judging the audience's reaction before making a decision.
00:01:33.100 This constant attention to public reaction means that it's usually worth providing pushback
00:01:38.120 to bad policy suggestions floated by the president without becoming overly emotional.
00:01:43.700 Trust the plan, but verify the plan regularly.
00:01:47.340 Charlie Kirk is aware of this dynamic,
00:01:49.200 and that's why he has suddenly rallied opposition against any possible amnesty deal.
00:01:54.780 Kirk is very influential and well-connected in the Trump sphere,
00:01:58.320 so the fact that he believes this is a real danger worth agitating against
00:02:02.200 means that something big is probably brewing in the Washington swamp.
00:02:06.480 Corporate America were never fans of immigration enforcement,
00:02:10.120 but as long as deportation stayed focused on gangbangers and drug dealers,
00:02:14.160 working in the corner, then they kept quiet.
00:02:16.260 Once ICE started conducting worksite raids and draining the labor pool of illegal agricultural workers,
00:02:23.200 corporate interests decided it was time to kick the lobbying into high gear.
00:02:27.300 At first, Trump started to mention in his speeches that his Secretary of Agriculture,
00:02:31.600 Brooke Rawlins, had told him about the plight of farmers and hotel owners
00:02:35.440 who were losing some of their best workers to deportations.
00:02:39.440 The president then said that his administration would work with farmers
00:02:43.000 to ensure that they got the workers that they needed.
00:02:46.520 The administration quietly provided guidance,
00:02:49.360 exempting farmers and hotels from immigration raids.
00:02:53.060 It's clear that lobbyists and Secretary Rawlins had Trump's ear.
00:02:57.380 Thankfully, the online backlash to this announcement was so fierce
00:03:01.200 that the administration quickly reversed their official guidelines,
00:03:04.660 removing that exemption.
00:03:06.460 Unfortunately, that was far from the end of the story.
00:03:09.280 Trump continued to mention the importance of giving farmers access to illegal labor,
00:03:14.940 despite this clearly being deeply unpopular with his supporters.
00:03:19.340 In the wake of the Big Beautiful Bill's passage
00:03:21.500 and its massive increase in border security funding,
00:03:24.960 it appears that many Washington power brokers are attempting to convince the president
00:03:29.060 that now is the time to tack back to the center on immigration.
00:03:33.300 The Whisper campaign about a bipartisan bill
00:03:36.200 began to make its way around the halls of power.
00:03:38.900 And this is almost certainly why Kirk felt the need to take action.
00:03:43.800 Special carve-outs for illegal labor provided to specific industries
00:03:47.660 would be a deep betrayal of the promises made to the MAGA faithful.
00:03:52.360 There may have been a time where closing the border
00:03:54.760 and deporting the worst offenders would have been enough,
00:03:58.060 but that moment is well in the rearview mirror.
00:04:00.840 It's likely that more than 8 million illegals
00:04:03.260 entered the country under Joe Biden's completely illegitimate puppet regime.
00:04:07.160 That's a number that's several million more than the population of the average U.S. state.
00:04:13.460 Democrats intentionally flooded the country in an attempt to permanently alter the demographics
00:04:17.560 and political balance of the nation.
00:04:20.020 And if these new arrivals are not expelled immediately,
00:04:22.840 they'll have succeeded as well.
00:04:24.340 After Kirk's warning that an official amnesty plan may be coming down the pipeline,
00:04:29.940 another round of online backlash led to the Secretary of Agriculture being marched out in front of the public
00:04:35.680 to assure them that mass deportations would continue.
00:04:39.280 Once again, the MAGA base celebrated,
00:04:41.760 but Rollins left some wiggle room in her remarks when she said that deportations would now be more strategic.
00:04:47.820 Trump seemed to confirm the Secretary's remarks by saying that there would be no amnesty,
00:04:52.520 but immediately followed up by announcing that the administration was considering a workers' program
00:04:58.820 so farmers could get the labor that they needed.
00:05:01.740 That language did not have the reassuring effect that the president was hoping for.
00:05:06.860 The United States already has a program for employers who want to hire foreign workers.
00:05:12.800 Farms which ignore that program in favor of hiring illegal immigrants
00:05:16.360 are criminals who are breaking the law.
00:05:18.700 Business owners should not receive a seat at the table for flagrantly violating the law.
00:05:24.640 They should go to jail.
00:05:26.240 Allowing illegal aliens to stay in the United States and rewarding them with American jobs is amnesty.
00:05:33.120 Plain and simple.
00:05:34.540 All the attempts to redefine the term are ugly and disingenuous.
00:05:39.680 Conservatives have been betrayed on immigration so many times it's almost comical.
00:05:44.040 We're promised enforcement of the law in exchange for some kind of immigration reform,
00:05:49.380 but the end result is always the same.
00:05:52.300 Illegals get to stay and the border eventually reopens.
00:05:56.280 And make no mistake, this will not end with just the workers.
00:06:00.000 Their families will come and then their extended families.
00:06:03.440 Chain migration will turn into mass immigration just like it always does.
00:06:08.720 Donald Trump was elected because he was the first candidate to talk about truly changing the game
00:06:15.100 with measures like a border wall and mass deportations.
00:06:19.660 Pushing a bipartisan amnesty deal right after receiving the funding to enact those plans
00:06:25.080 which have already been promised would be an incredible betrayal.
00:06:29.820 Ronald Reagan is revered by many Republicans,
00:06:32.740 but for all of his accomplishments, his naivete on immigration was disastrous.
00:06:39.640 Reagan's amnesty doomed California, once a solid red state,
00:06:44.540 to become the most important Democrat power base in the country.
00:06:49.520 Trump should silence Rollins or anyone else who is whispering in his ear
00:06:54.580 that amnesty will work for him this time.
00:06:57.900 Establishment Republicans were abandoned in favor of Trump
00:07:01.100 because they regularly chose the well-being of the donor class
00:07:05.720 over the well-being of the country.
00:07:08.520 It would be a tragedy to see Donald Trump throw away his legacy
00:07:13.660 by making the same fatal mistake.
