00:00:48.760 it were professional football, something to watch for entertainment while sitting on the couch
00:00:53.020 so you can complain about your team to the guys at work on Monday. But leftists understand that
00:00:58.960 political power grants them the ability to reshape society. And while conservatives grumble at losing
00:01:04.900 another playoff to the crosstown rivals, leftists are changing the rules of the game to ensure that
00:01:10.340 they never lose again. Many conservative commentators directed their outrage at Donald
00:01:16.940 Trump this week after he voiced his intention to maintain the position conservatives have argued
00:01:21.680 for decades that abortion law is an issue to be left with the states. After the stunning decision of the
00:01:28.320 Supreme Court in 2022 to overturn the constitutional disaster area that was Roe v. Wade, the question
00:01:35.160 of whether and how to restrict abortion returned to the states with mixed results. Conservatives who had
00:01:41.440 expected the reassertion of federalism to usher in sweeping bans instead learned that public opinion
00:01:47.680 had shifted significantly since 1973 when Roe was first decided. In many states, even conservative ones,
00:01:56.280 restrictions proved unpopular. After watching their hard-fought victory stall out at the state level,
00:02:02.060 many pro-life activists decided that federal action was the only solution.
00:02:07.660 Trump's decision to embrace the Dobbs ruling as a victory and move on is all about winning the
00:02:12.420 presidency again in November. Most Americans don't like the idea of federal restrictions on abortion.
00:02:18.840 Not only is it unpopular, it's also a powerful motivator for the Democratic Party base to get out to vote.
00:02:25.580 If you want to ensure voter turnout and donations for the left as never before,
00:02:30.440 making abortion law the central issue of the election is the best way to do it.
00:02:35.100 Many pro-life activists have decided that this is a matter of principle and that the electoral
00:02:39.080 calculus should never factor into the decision of whether or not to put abortion front and center.
00:02:45.380 I fully respect that dedication to principle on a very important issue, but ultimately,
00:02:51.280 this is not a question of principle. It's a failure to understand the mechanics of political power.

00:03:01.820 conservatives have a nasty habit of acting like broke heroin addicts when it comes to political power.
00:03:08.080 Conservatives aren't accustomed to having political power, even though they crave it,
00:03:12.000 and the minute they get a hold of some, they want to blow it on the first political issue that comes to mind.
00:03:16.980 In contrast, the left understands that political power is a currency,

00:03:26.760 A victory on an important issue may feel great, but that victory is often quickly undone if the opposition regains dominance.

00:06:25.100 Both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have recently announced the administration's intention
00:06:29.460 to implement widespread student loan forgiveness.
00:06:32.860 Biden made the same promise in 2022 to generate support during the midterm election
00:06:37.640 before his illegal program was struck down by the Supreme Court.
00:06:40.780 Not that that really matters.
00:06:43.420 The votes were cast, the elections were won, and the Biden administration to this day
00:06:48.200 regularly boasts of its dedication to skirting the court in any way possible.
00:06:53.680 Will the Democrats deliver total student loan forgiveness?
00:06:57.800 Maybe not.
00:06:58.780 Probably not.
00:06:59.660 But they understand that the issue is a winning one
00:07:02.200 and their base doesn't care about how it gets done, only that it's getting done.
00:07:06.840 While the older GOP voters love to mock college graduates with too much debt and tell them

00:07:38.220 employers are basically mandated to use college degrees as their screening process for new hires.
00:07:44.580 That means leftists created the market, controlled the ideology of the institutions,
00:07:49.800 inflated the market, and now get to sell the solution back to their victims,
00:07:54.280 all while casting conservatives as the heartless villains that want young people to live in debt slavery.
00:08:00.240 Now, the right wants to argue the issue on the principles.
00:08:04.260 What the Biden administration is doing is immoral and illegal.
00:08:07.520 The Democrats are stealing money from the GOP base who are less likely to have college debt
00:08:11.840 and using it to bribe the voters.
00:08:13.800 But again, this argument on principle is a losing strategy.
00:08:18.420 Student debt holders correctly understand that they're already stuck playing a rigged game,
00:08:24.240 and they don't care if someone needs to break the rules to make things right.
00:08:29.160 Instead of trying to appeal to the better nature of an administration that doesn't possess a better nature,
00:08:34.780 the Republicans should offer an alternative solution that secures power for them in the future.
00:08:40.460 To help alleviate the student debt crisis and gain power,
00:08:43.960 the GOP should begin by levying a massive tax on university endowments.
00:08:48.420 These institutions are almost uniformly leftist and are sitting on massive piles of cash,
00:08:55.180 which they accumulated by robbing their students and abusing the tax code.
00:09:00.460 Take the money and use it to pay off student loans in addition to removing all federal subsidies
00:09:05.800 and making student debt dischargeable through bankruptcy.
00:09:10.360 Strip out civil rights law and its disparate impact provisions
00:09:13.640 so that employers can once again use simple aptitude or IQ tests to screen employees.
00:09:20.400 This plan might not offer the immediate catharsis of debating woke college kids
00:09:26.120 on the merit of their gender studies degrees,
00:09:29.160 but it would fundamentally change the balance of power in the United States
00:09:33.660 by removing the leftist monopoly on employment credentials.
00:09:37.120 Look, Joe Biden is a sad joke, a mask that the regime wears to hide its face,
00:09:43.720 but the people who actually run his administration have been a disaster for this country.
00:09:49.140 The right can spin this electoral cycle focusing on issues that are both popular and secure additional power.
00:09:56.340 Closing the borders is good for the country and increases the likelihood that the right will win elections.
00:10:03.640 Reducing crime and incarcerating criminals is good for the country
00:10:07.540 and increases the likelihood that the right will win elections.
00:10:11.600 Solving the student debt crisis by destroying the university's stranglehold on employment
00:10:15.680 is good for the country and increases the likelihood that the right will win elections.
00:10:20.480 These issues may not offer the immediate catharsis that some activists seek, but by running and winning on these issues, the right gains power, and with power, far greater change is possible.
