The Ben Shapiro Show - After Attempt On Trump's Life, Media Blame…Trump

00:00:00.000 New details about the second...

00:00:02.000 Attempt on Donald Trump in eight weeks are emerging.

00:00:05.000 Obviously, we have 48 days until the election.

00:00:08.000 This election is absolutely crucial.

00:00:27.000 So, I think before we get started here, I think that we ought to set the frame.

00:00:30.000 So when it comes to the reaction to the second attempted assassination on Donald Trump inside eight weeks, the reaction is sort of astonishing.

00:00:37.000 The left-wing media, the legacy media, the Democrats, but I repeat myself because of course they are all one big Borg, they have decided that the real problem here is Donald Trump's rhetoric.

00:00:48.000 So if somebody tried to assassinate Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, God forbid, the problem would be Donald Trump's rhetoric.

00:00:53.000 And if somebody attempts to assassinate Donald Trump, the problem is also Donald Trump's rhetoric.

00:00:58.000 And underlying all of this is a feeling that some on the left have actually sort of let slip.

00:01:04.000 Which is that it would be much better if Donald Trump just went away.

00:01:07.000 If something very, very bad happened to Donald Trump.

00:01:09.000 Now many people on the left are not going to say they want Donald Trump to get shot in the head or something as graphic as all that.

00:01:14.000 There are a few who will sort of let that slip from time to time.

00:01:17.000 But there's a feeling that Donald Trump is a uniquely dangerous figure.

00:01:21.000 Which is why you've seen every major Democratic politician say precisely that.

00:01:25.000 They are always coming out and suggesting that Donald Trump is somehow a unique danger to the Republic.

00:01:30.000 And for those who don't have an institutional memory of politics, because of course there was a politics before Donald Trump, Democrats used to say the same thing, believe it or not, about Mitt Romney and John McCain and George W. Bush.

00:01:42.000 They've said it more with regard to Donald Trump because Donald Trump is out of the box and because Donald Trump defeated their chosen candidate in Hillary Clinton in 2016.

00:01:51.000 However, there's always this feeling that there's almost an assassination mania among folks on the left when there is a right-wing president.

00:02:00.000 There's an entire movie that was made while George W. Bush was president of the United States called The Assassination of George W. Bush.

00:02:07.000 And it's basically a fantasy.

00:02:09.000 So the question is why?

00:02:11.000 And I think the answer has to do with the way the right sees the left and the way the left sees the right in this country.

00:02:15.000 So it's been talked about a lot, but by polling data, conservatives tend not to see people on the left as evil.

00:02:22.000 They tend to see them as misguided.

00:02:24.000 And people on the left tend to see people on the right as evil, as actually morally deficient in some key respect.

00:02:31.000 But people on the left also have another viewpoint that makes it hard for them to sustain that.

00:02:35.000 People on the left believe that human beings are inherently good and that right-wingers are evil, which is kind of conflicting.

00:02:43.000 If you're on the right, you tend to believe, typically speaking, human beings are capable of both good and evil.

00:02:48.000 And because human beings are capable of both good and evil, many people who are doing bad things are not doing so because they're innately evil.

00:02:56.000 They're doing so because they've made bad decisions.

00:02:59.000 Weirdly enough, a belief in the imperfectibility of mankind leads to a forgiveness-oriented nature toward your fellow man.

00:03:07.000 If you believe that human beings are not perfectible, if you believe that all human beings struggle with sin, that means you're actually significantly more likely to be forgiving with your neighbor, because you struggle with the same problems.

00:03:17.000 You also have trouble making decisions.

00:03:19.000 Sometimes you have a problem discerning between what's good and what's bad.

00:03:23.000 However, for the left, the idea is that all human beings are created absolutely good, innocent, and decent.

00:03:30.000 And so they have a very difficult time understanding people who don't think like they do.

00:03:34.000 Those people, there must be something defective about those people.

00:03:38.000 So, what do they think about leaders?

00:03:40.000 Well, if you're a conservative, you tend to think that leaders of left-wing movements have popular backing.

00:03:47.000 And you don't find it all that hard to understand that that's generally true in a democracy.

00:03:52.000 That people who disagree with you, they might be wrong, they might be misguided, the things they believe might be evil, but they have a popular movement behind them.

00:04:00.000 And thus, when it comes to horrible things like assassination, removing a leader does not change the nature of the movement.

00:04:09.000 Nobody actually believes, on the right side of the aisle, if God forbid something happened to Kamala Harris, natural or otherwise, if something God forbid were to happen along those lines, nobody believes, on the right, that the movement that backs Kamala Harris would just dissipate and go away.

00:04:23.000 Nobody actually believes that.

00:04:25.000 But the reverse is not true.

00:04:26.000 Many people on the left believe that Donald Trump, as a quote-unquote right-wing leader, because people are naturally good, and because Donald Trump is a moral defective leading people astray, that if somehow Donald Trump were removed from the scene, then that would mean that everything would go back to normal.

00:04:46.000 That there would be sort of a reversion back to the innate goodness of humanity.

00:04:52.000 That's the only way I can find to sort of explain the tepid response to an attempted assassination against a political figure in the United States.

00:04:59.000 Two in the space of eight weeks.

00:05:02.000 I would be absolutely livid and beside myself if somebody tried to assassinate a politician that I radically disagree with.

00:05:09.000 Like, for example, Joe Biden or Kamala Harris.

00:05:13.000 That would be a grave act of evil.

00:05:15.000 That person should be found. 0.82

00:05:17.000 That person should be put on death row. 0.93

00:05:19.000 Obviously.

00:05:21.000 And anybody who even attempted such a thing, that'd be a grave act of evil.

00:05:24.000 And by the way, a useless act of evil, even from a politically conflicting perspective, because getting rid of somebody on the other side of the aisle doesn't change the nature of the political conflict in general.

00:05:35.000 Human beings think differently.

00:05:36.000 Human beings have flaws.

00:05:37.000 Human beings disagree.

00:05:39.000 There are big differences between how the right thinks about the left and how the left thinks about the right, but here's something everyone can agree on.

00:05:44.000 You're paying too much for your cell phone bill.

00:06:47.000 On the left, there is this weird idea that if something happened to Donald Trump, the world would just be a better place.

00:06:53.000 And it's unmistakable in their rhetoric.

00:06:55.000 Now again, they're not going to say out loud that they wish Donald Trump would get shot.

00:06:58.000 Many of them are not going to say that out loud because I think that they would have a hard time facing up to the possibility that they actually believe, many of them, that the world would be better off if Donald Trump just disappeared.

00:07:08.000 But the reality is that the rhetoric that they are constantly expressing with regard to Donald Trump is not of like kind to the rhetoric expressed about Kamala Harris or Joe Biden by the right.

00:07:18.000 It just isn't.

00:07:19.000 People on the right, when we talk about Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, we say that he's a horrible president, she's a horrible vice president, they're doing terrible things for the country.

00:07:26.000 But nobody actually believes that they are such single important figures That there isn't a popular movement backing them.

00:07:35.000 If Joe Biden were to pass away tomorrow, he may pass away during a debate, but if Joe Biden were actually to just disappear from the public scene, if he were to retire tomorrow, the movement behind him would be exactly the same.

00:07:45.000 If Kamala Harris had not been the nominee, it would have been somebody else. 1.00

00:07:49.000 Everybody sort of knows this inherently.

00:07:51.000 The left does not believe this about Donald Trump.

00:07:53.000 They believe that he is a single font of evil in the modern world.

00:07:59.000 And the corollary to that is if you keep saying over and over and over that Donald Trump is, in fact, not only the apex of evil, but a sort of weird evil magician who can whip people into a cult-like frenzy around him, then removal of this figure would change the trajectory of history. 0.96

00:08:15.000 And all it takes is one nut to take that message seriously, to pick up a gun and sit in a tree for 12 hours and wait for the president of the United States, former president, to reach where he is on a golf course and then shoot him. 0.91

00:08:27.000 By the way, that latter detail is apparently what happened.

00:08:29.000 According to the Wall Street Journal, the gunman in this particular case, the suspected gunman, was hiding near the former president's Florida golf course for roughly 12 hours before a secret service agent spotted him and opened fire.

00:08:42.000 He was near the perimeter of Trump's golf course, according to cell phone records, from 2 a.m.

00:08:46.000 until 1.31 p.m.

00:08:49.000 So, terrible job by whoever the security is over there.

00:08:52.000 Like, nobody is walking the perimeter?

00:08:53.000 Nobody?

00:08:55.000 For 12 hours?

00:08:57.000 That, by the way, does answer the question as to how he knew Trump was going to be on the golf course.

00:09:01.000 The answer is he didn't.

00:09:02.000 He knew Trump was staying there.

00:09:03.000 He assumed that Trump likes to golf when he goes to his hotels or his properties.

00:09:08.000 And so, if he waited long enough, Trump would show up.

00:09:11.000 At about 1.31 p.m., the Secret Service agent noticed the barrel of a rifle poking out of the tree line and fired at least four shots.

00:09:19.000 The details revealed in the court document charging the alleged shooter with federal gun crimes suggest some level of advanced planning by the suspect who had a long history of criminal convictions, including possession of a weapon of mass destruction, That would have barred him from owning a gun.

00:09:33.000 So gun laws are not the problem here.

00:09:34.000 The problem is, as always, criminality.

00:09:36.000 In addition to charges of possessing a firearm despite being a felon, he was also charged with having a firearm with wiped out serial number, a wrinkle that has made it difficult for law enforcement to determine how he acquired the gun in the first place.

00:09:48.000 Investigators are trying to restore the serial number so they can trace it at this point.

00:09:54.000 Now again, these are back-to-back assassination episodes.

00:09:57.000 It is insane that the President of the United States has not authorized a full security detail for Donald Trump.

00:10:04.000 What we do know about the alleged shooter is that he was a left-wing activist.

00:10:09.000 We know this.

00:10:09.000 He was a pro-Ukraine activist.

00:10:12.000 He hated Trump presumably because of that.

00:10:16.000 He had said that he voted for Trump in 2016, but then by June 2020 was critical of him, and he said, quote, I and the world hope that President Trump would be different and better than the candidate.

00:10:24.000 I will be glad when you are gone.

00:10:27.000 And then he wrote a book titled Ukraine's Unwinnable War, which he self-published in 2023.

00:10:30.000 Zero copies sold.

00:10:33.000 He elaborated he was furious that Trump had withdrawn from the nuclear deal with Iran.

00:10:37.000 He's pro-Iran. 0.94

00:10:38.000 Quote, I must take part of the blame for the retarded child that we elected for our next 1.00

00:10:41.000 president that ended up being brainless, but I am man enough to say that I misjudged and

00:10:45.000 made a terrible mistake.

00:10:46.000 And Iran, I apologize. 0.97

00:10:47.000 You are free to assassinate Trump as well as me for that error in judgment and the dismantling

00:10:52.000 of the deal.

00:10:53.000 I mean, there is, I mean, he had a Biden Harris sticker on his truck.

00:10:57.000 All the attempts to try and paint this person as some sort of political malcontent of neither party is not true.

00:11:04.000 He was obviously a person who was mentally unstable, but this is a person with very clear politics.

00:11:09.000 And in fact, it turns out the U.S.

00:11:10.000 authorities were warned about the suspected Trump gunman in advance.

00:11:15.000 Apparently, It was his time in Ukraine, according to the Wall Street Journal, where he traveled shortly after the Russian invasion of 2022, hoping to join the fight, where his tumultuous life, full of failures and brushes with the law, seemed to spiral further downward and to alarm those who came in contact with him.

00:11:29.000 Chelsea Walsh, a nurse who had several encounters with the alleged shooter in Kiev, Ukraine in 2022, said his threats of violence worried her so much that she conveyed her concerns to a Customs and Border Protection officer in an hour-long interview at Washington's Dulles Airport in June 2022.

00:11:44.000 Well, she told the officer during the interview, which took place after she returned to the U.S., that this person was, quote, among the most dangerous Americans she met during her month-and-a-half-long stint in Ukraine.

00:11:53.000 She showed the officer a notebook listing more than a dozen names of Americans and others whose actions had alarmed her.

00:11:58.000 Under the heading, overall predatory behavior or antisocial traits were four names, and this person's was at the top.

00:12:05.000 When the officer noticed that there were a lot of names, she said, of all the people on there, this person is the number one.

00:12:11.000 CBP did not immediately respond to inquiries about the meeting.

00:12:14.000 And of course, this person's behavior had been flagged to the FBI before.

00:12:17.000 A tipster told the FBI in 2019, this person had a firearm despite being a felon.

00:12:22.000 When questioned further, wouldn't verify providing the information.

00:12:25.000 An FBI official said Monday, the bureau passed the information on to authorities in Honolulu, where this person was living at the time and closed the investigation.

00:12:34.000 The alleged shooter was well-known among volunteer aid groups in Ukraine as a fraudster and kind of a whack job, according to Sarah Adams, former CIA officer, who helped run a network linking 50 aid groups to share information coordinating humanitarian and volunteer efforts in Ukraine.

00:12:48.000 He claimed to be working with the Ukrainian government to recruit foreign fighters, but he wasn't actually doing that.

00:12:53.000 And apparently Ukraine's International Legion had no ties with this person.

00:12:56.000 Didn't stop him from being interviewed by places like Newsweek or the New York Times.

00:13:01.000 Okay, so it is very clear this person was a radical.

00:13:05.000 It is also very clear that, yes, raising the temperature of rhetoric, suggesting that Donald Trump is a unique, outsized threat to the Republic of the United States, and that his supporters are sort of duped and bewildered followers, they're sort of, they're orange shirts, you might call them, that that's really what this is.

00:13:23.000 Of course, that's going to lead people who have a bizarre hero-villain view of the universe, like this person does, Again, you keep upping the rhetoric and this is what you get.

00:13:33.000 and try and take out the president of the United States.

00:13:36.000 Again, you keep upping the rhetoric and this is what you get.

00:13:40.000 Now, President Trump says this, of course, and the entire left denies it.

00:13:44.000 While, by the way, maintaining that he is in fact an outsized threat to the republic,

00:13:48.000 who it would be better off if, you know, if he weren't around, so to speak.

00:13:53.000 Trump calls out left-wing extreme rhetoric.

00:13:55.000 The left just denies it.

00:13:56.000 But there's one thing that is undeniable, and that is credit card debt.

00:13:59.000 Very easy to get into, very difficult to get out of, because the system is set up so you can't.

00:15:00.000 So, President Trump put out a statement saying, quote, The rhetoric lies as exemplified by the false statements

00:15:05.000 made by comrade Kamala Harris during the rigged and highly partisan ABC debate and all of the

00:15:08.000 ridiculous lawsuits specifically designed to inflict damage on Joe's, then Kamala's, political

00:15:13.000 opponent, me, has taken politics in our country to a whole new level of hatred, abuse, and 0.95

00:15:16.000 distrust. Because of this communist left rhetoric, the bullets are flying, it will only get

00:15:20.000 worse. Allowing millions of people from places unknown to invade and take over our country is an 1.00

00:15:24.000 unpardonable sin. 0.65

00:15:26.000 Our borders must be closed and the terrorist criminals and mentally insane immediately removed from American cities and towns, deported back to their countries of origin. 0.72

00:15:33.000 We want people to come into our country. 1.00

00:15:35.000 They must love our nation and come in legally and through a system of merit. 0.98

00:15:38.000 The world is laughing at us as fools. 0.98

00:15:40.000 They are stealing our jobs and our wealth. 0.99

00:15:41.000 We cannot let them laugh any longer.

00:15:43.000 Make America great again.

00:15:45.000 Trump had also blamed Vice President Harris and President Biden for the assassination attempts in a conversation with Fox News Digital's Brooke Singman earlier in the day saying, quote, their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at.

00:15:57.000 When I'm the one who's going to save the country, they are the ones destroying the country, both from the inside and out.

00:16:03.000 JD Vance gave a speech yesterday in which he specifically discussed the problems of rhetoric.

00:16:08.000 Here he was yesterday at the Georgia Faith and Freedom Coalition talking about this.

00:16:14.000 I do think that we should take this opportunity to call for a reduction in the ridiculous

00:16:21.000 and inflammatory political rhetoric coming from too many corners of our politics.

00:16:28.000 Look, we can disagree with one another, we can debate one another, but we cannot tell

00:16:37.000 the American people that one candidate is a fascist and if he's elected it is going

00:16:43.000 to be the end of American democracy. 0.88

00:16:45.000 We cannot, as a As a person affiliated with Kamala Harris has said, that we need to, quote, eliminate Donald J. Trump.

00:16:53.000 A New York Democratic Congressman has said that in the past.

00:16:56.000 If you tell the American people that this person is the end of democracy, if you tell the American people that this person needs to be eliminated, most of them, thank God, are going to ignore you, but some crazy person is going to take matters into their own hands and actually listen to the crazy rhetoric that you're putting out there.

00:17:16.000 Now again, what's funny about what Vance is saying here is that the left has been saying this about the right for legitimately decades at this point.

00:17:22.000 And they said this about Sarah Palin and Gabby Giffords.

00:17:24.000 They suggested because Sarah Palin put out a map, There's now, back in like 2008, that because Sarah Palin put out a map with targeted districts for a midterm election, and one of those districts was Gabby Giffords' district, that that meant that a nutjob had shot Gabby Giffords at a campaign rally.

00:17:42.000 It turns out it had nothing to do with Sarah Palin.

00:17:44.000 Doesn't matter.

00:17:45.000 The way that it works on the left is that if a right-wing figure is attacked, it must be because of right-wing rhetoric, and if a left-wing figure is attacked, it must be because of right-wing rhetoric.

00:17:53.000 That is the way this works.

00:17:55.000 It is a ratchet that only works one way.

00:17:57.000 So the entire media came to the defense of Biden-Harris.

00:18:00.000 Norah O'Donnell, CBS News.

00:18:01.000 She immediately suggested this has nothing to do with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

00:18:05.000 Nothing at all.

00:18:07.000 Donald Trump is blaming Democrats for inflaming political rhetoric, but the former president's own words seem to be increasing the threat of political violence in Springfield, Ohio.

00:18:17.000 That's where a false and ugly accusation against Haitians, thousands of whom are legal permanent residents, is impacting everyday life.

00:18:26.000 Remember, the problem with bad rhetoric is Trump.

00:18:30.000 Always and forever.

00:18:30.000 Which again, keeps underscoring the idea that Trump is a unique threat to American democracy.

00:18:35.000 That Trump is a unique threat to the American people.

00:18:37.000 That he is the source of violent threat.

00:18:39.000 Now if you go all the way back to the 2016 race, there's a lot of talk about this.

00:18:42.000 Trump would be at rallies and he'd say that if you beat somebody up in the rally crowd, then I'll pay your legal bills.

00:18:49.000 He said that and this was a big deal.

00:18:51.000 But the reality is, the political violence in 2016 was almost entirely left on right, not right on left.

00:18:58.000 There were full-scale Trump rallies that got shut down because of violent left-wing agitators outside arenas trying to beat people up.

00:19:06.000 The left's rhetoric, politically speaking, has caused insane levels of violence in the United States.

00:19:13.000 Not least among them, the $2 billion in property damage and enormous human toll of the BLM riots of 2020.

00:19:22.000 Or, for example, if you're going to link the scale of rhetoric to actual violent shooting events.

00:19:28.000 A Bernie Sanders fan shooting up a congressional baseball game.

00:19:31.000 Or for example, a Black Lives Matter fan shooting up Dallas police officers while Barack Obama was president ripping on the police.

00:19:37.000 Now, as I've said consistently here, this does not mean that people speaking politically are responsible for those who then take those words and twist them or misinterpret them or use them as an excuse for violence.

00:19:48.000 However, if you do keep ratcheting up The heat on the stove, it shouldn't be a shock when the water occasionally boils over.

00:19:55.000 But the way that this works for the left is everything bad they say about the right is totally justified.

00:19:59.000 Everything bad they say about Donald Trump in particular is totally justified.

00:20:02.000 And remember, it's not just words that they have about the right generally speaking or the right's political perspectives.

00:20:08.000 They have decided that because Donald Trump is in himself a uniquely evil figure, they can say whatever the hell they want about him.

00:20:16.000 And it is totally justified. 0.80

00:20:18.000 And not only that, he brings it on himself.

00:20:19.000 Sonora O'Donnell says, it's not our rhetoric about Trump that causes people to want to shoot Trump.

00:20:24.000 It's that Trump said this weird thing about they're eating cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio.

00:20:28.000 And that's the real danger.

00:20:29.000 Or how about this?

00:20:30.000 CNN's Dana Bash.

00:20:32.000 Who did the same routine yesterday.

00:20:33.000 This has nothing to do with Biden-Harris.

00:20:35.000 I mean, nothing?

00:20:36.000 The guy had a Biden-Harris bumper sticker on the back of his car.

00:20:39.000 I have very serious doubts about whether Donna Bash would be saying the same thing if somebody with a Trump Vance sticker on his car tried to take a shot at Kamala Harris.

00:20:46.000 I have a feeling that the conversation might be wildly different.

00:20:51.000 There's absolutely again no basis in fact that they were behind this at all.

00:20:57.000 We don't know much about this guy yet at all other than he was somebody who was trying to find a way at in his mid to late 50s go and and serve on the front lines of Ukraine and he obviously had some anti-Trump posts but That has nothing to do with Kamala Harris and Joe Biden.

00:21:20.000 It has to do with the fact that this is his political belief and obviously this is a very disturbed individual, this alleged suspect.

00:21:27.000 Well, the media can be relied upon to cover up for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and all of their rhetoric.

00:21:33.000 But I'll tell you what, you need to rely on your mattress.

00:21:35.000 But you actually need to lie on your mattress.

00:21:37.000 And the thing is, with a bad mattress, you ain't gonna sleep.

00:21:39.000 A couple years back, I was tossing and turning all night.

00:21:40.000 Then, I decided to try a Helix Sleep mattress.

00:21:42.000 Let me tell you, it has been an absolute game changer.

00:21:45.000 Why?

00:21:45.000 Because they made a mattress for me.

00:21:46.000 You know, it's personalized to me.

00:21:48.000 They have 20 different mattresses.

00:21:50.000 20.

00:21:50.000 They've got the Luxe for the fancy types, the Elite for the extra fancy.

00:21:53.000 I am extra fancy.

00:21:54.000 And even the Helix Plus for the bigger fellows.

00:21:56.000 You know, the kind of dudes who don't eat soy ever.

00:21:59.000 Now, you might be thinking, Ben, how do I know which one is right for me?

00:22:02.000 Here's your answer.

00:22:02.000 You go take that Helix Sleep Quiz.

00:22:04.000 It's quick.

00:22:04.000 It's easy.

00:22:05.000 It takes less than two minutes.

00:22:06.000 I took the quiz myself.

00:22:07.000 They matched me with a medium firm mattress, which is perfect for me because I sleep on my stomach.

00:22:11.000 Well, here is another great thing about Helix.

00:22:13.000 They ship your personalized mattress right to your door, free of charge.

00:22:16.000 No dealing with mattress salesmen, or about as trustworthy as mainstream media fact-checkers.

00:22:20.000 Now get this, they give you 100 nights to try it out, plus 10 to 15 year warranty, so you got nothing to lose.

00:22:24.000 If you want to sleep as soundly as I do, which is like a baby, head on over to HelixSleep.com slash Ben, take that sleep quiz.

00:22:30.000 Plus, Helix is offering up to 25% off all mattress orders and two free pillows for our listeners.

00:22:34.000 HelixSleep.com slash Ben.

00:22:36.000 That's HelixSleep.com slash Ben with Helix.

00:22:39.000 Better sleep starts right now.

00:22:40.000 Again, do you think that Dan and Bash would be saying the same thing if the situation were reversed?

00:22:43.000 You know for a fact she wouldn't.

00:22:45.000 You know for a fact she would not.

00:22:46.000 In fact, right now, they're literally attempting to blame Donald Trump and J.D.

00:22:50.000 Vance for hoax phone calls in Springfield, Ohio, because of the eating cats and dogs remark.

00:22:55.000 So apparently, the rhetoric of Donald Trump and J.D.

00:22:57.000 Vance is so all-fired powerful that when Donald Trump says in a debate, they're eating the cats, they're eating the dogs, this means you can directly blame him for bomb threats, hoax threats, very often coming from abroad, apparently.

00:23:08.000 You can blame them for that sort of stuff happening in Springfield, Ohio.

00:23:11.000 But when Donald Trump is shot at, the entire Democratic media complex They bear no responsibility whatsoever for their own rhetoric.

00:23:18.000 It really is incredible.

00:23:20.000 So for example, Joe Biden, yesterday he comes out, he says there's no place for political violence.

00:23:25.000 And again, I would take this more seriously if your entire party hadn't sided with the Black Lives Matter rioters. 0.94

00:23:31.000 And I also would take this more seriously if you hadn't repeatedly suggested that your political opponent is Hitlerian in intent.

00:23:38.000 Here's Joe Biden yesterday.

00:23:41.000 There is no, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, those of you who know me, many of you do.

00:23:45.000 No place in political violence for political violence in America.

00:23:49.000 None.

00:23:50.000 Zero.

00:23:50.000 Never.

00:23:51.000 I've always condemned political violence.

00:23:55.000 I always will in America.

00:23:57.000 In America, we resolve our difference peacefully at the ballot box, not at the end of a gun.

00:24:03.000 Okay, that's all fine, and that's all well, and that's all good.

00:24:06.000 But in the same speech, you went and said that we're in a battle for the soul of America.

00:24:09.000 The implication being, of course, that if his favorite candidate, Kamala Harris, who forced him aside, loses, then apparently the soul of America is lost in some way.

00:24:18.000 Well, it turns out that when you tell people that if your opponent is elected, the soul of America will be gone, maybe someone might take that seriously.

00:24:27.000 Look, we're still in the battle.

00:24:30.000 We're still in the battle for the very soul of America.

00:24:34.000 In 2020, I ran, and I give you my word, this is the reason.

00:24:38.000 I ran to redeem the soul of America and restore decency and dignity to the office of the presidency.

00:24:45.000 Well, I mean, this kind of language, redeem the soul of America? 0.97

00:24:48.000 The soul of America had been owned by Satan, Donald Trump.

00:24:51.000 And then I came and I redeemed the soul of America.

00:24:53.000 Joe Biden is your savior.

00:24:54.000 He redeemed the soul of America.

00:24:56.000 But now it's in danger of being lost again.

00:24:58.000 And then again, you wonder why mentally unhinged people might take that seriously? 0.91

00:25:03.000 MSNBC doing the same routine.

00:25:06.000 Here's MSNBC's Nicole Wallace yesterday saying political violence is antithetical to our republic unless you're burning down half the cities in America over George Floyd.

00:25:15.000 It's worth repeating.

00:25:16.000 Political violence, regardless of any motive, any method, or any target, is antithetical to our democracy, to a healthy and vibrant democracy anywhere on the planet.

00:25:28.000 Full stop.

00:25:28.000 Our system of government, our very way of life, depends not on bullets, but on our political opinions being carried out and expressed at the ballot box, in the ballot box exclusively.

00:25:43.000 Okay, but I don't believe you guys, because here is the thing.

00:25:45.000 You guys use language that is so unhinged and outside the norm that it's almost impossible to link it with total nonviolence.

00:25:53.000 So, for example, Hillary Clinton, who has just become a morning drinker at this point, she appears on MSNBC with Rachel Maddow.

00:26:00.000 She has another memoir out, because you needed to know what she's been doing for the past few years.

00:26:04.000 This is her fourth memoir.

00:26:06.000 Let me explain.

00:26:07.000 There's no one alive who requires four memoirs.

00:26:10.000 No one.

00:26:11.000 No one requires four memoirs.

00:26:13.000 I know Barack Obama's had two.

00:26:14.000 I know she's trying to outpace him.

00:26:15.000 She has four.

00:26:16.000 I feel like zero memoirs is the right number for most people.

00:26:20.000 Particularly in politics.

00:26:21.000 But she has another, her fourth memoir coming out.

00:26:24.000 And she explains that Donald Trump is dangerous.

00:26:26.000 Dangerous.

00:26:28.000 You know it's kind of dangerous saying that over and over and over?

00:26:32.000 And I don't understand why it's so difficult for the press to have a consistent narrative about how dangerous Trump is.

00:26:41.000 You know, the late, great journalist Harry Evans, you know, one time said that, you know, journalists should, you know, really try to achieve objectivity.

00:26:53.000 And by that, he said, I mean, they should cover the object.

00:26:56.000 Well, the object in this case is Donald Trump, his demagoguery, his danger to our country

00:27:04.000 and the world.

00:27:05.000 And stick with it.

00:27:07.000 He's a danger to the country.

00:27:11.000 He's a danger to the world.

00:27:12.000 Don't worry, it's nonviolence that we seek.

00:27:15.000 That's wild!

00:27:16.000 You know who I would call a danger to the country and a danger to the world?

00:27:19.000 The government of China.

00:27:20.000 The government of Iran.

00:27:22.000 Vladimir Putin.

00:27:23.000 Terrorist groups like ISIS.

00:27:25.000 You know who I don't think is a danger to the country and a danger to the world in the sense that she is talking about?

00:27:30.000 Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

00:27:31.000 And I think they're awful.

00:27:31.000 I think they'll do terrible things for the country.

00:27:34.000 I think they'll undermine fundamental bases of the functioning of our republic.

00:27:37.000 I think all of that is true.

00:27:39.000 And also, I don't think they're very important political figures in and of themselves.

00:27:43.000 I think what they stand for is quite important, but I don't think that they in themselves are like grave threats to the future coherence of the republic.

00:27:50.000 But that's what the left believes.

00:27:52.000 That's what Hillary Clinton believes.

00:27:53.000 And what that means is that anytime there's an attempt on, say, Donald Trump, it turns out it's his own fault.

00:27:58.000 Now listen, the leaders of the Democratic Party, it is not that they in their very personages are grave threats to the Republic, it's that the movement that they represent thinks a lot of bad things.

00:28:07.000 But you know what is a threat to you?

00:28:08.000 Well, that'd be the IRS.

00:28:09.000 Because if you haven't actually done your taxes, let's say that you have an unfiled return, you got back taxes, if you're still struggling with that stuff, the IRS is coming for you.

00:29:19.000 So, Tom Nichols.

00:29:20.000 who used to be a... he used to characterize himself as a conservative. Now he writes for

00:29:25.000 The Atlantic. He wrote yesterday, I'm not even joking, this is what he wrote, quote,

00:29:29.000 Donald Trump is using another possible attempt on his life to inflame tensions in America,

00:29:33.000 which is one more reason he should never be president again.

00:29:36.000 I mean, slow clap.

00:29:39.000 Incredible stuff right there.

00:29:41.000 Do you understand the logic there?

00:29:42.000 Somebody tried to shoot Trump again, allegedly.

00:29:46.000 And Tom Nichols says, Donald Trump is using another possible attempt on his life to inflame tensions.

00:29:51.000 He's inflaming the tensions.

00:29:53.000 By what?

00:29:53.000 Not being hit by the bullet?

00:29:55.000 That's one more reason he should never be president again.

00:29:57.000 The New York Times doing the same routine.

00:30:00.000 They have an entire news analysis piece, which they used to just call this opinion, but they can't do that anymore, so they call it news analysis.

00:30:05.000 Quote, Trump outrage in the modern era of political violence.

00:30:10.000 The latest apparent assassination attempt against the former president indicates how much the American political landscape has been shaped by anger stirred by him and against him.

00:30:18.000 Within days of former President Donald J. Trump vilifying immigrants on national TV with false stories about Haitian migrants eating pet dogs and cats in an Ohio town, someone began threatening to blow up schools, City Hall, and other public buildings, forcing evacuations, and prompting a wave of fear.

00:30:33.000 Days later, authorities said a man who described himself online as a disaffected former Trump supporter Made his way with the semi-automatic rifle to the former president's Florida golf course, evidently looking to take a shot.

00:30:43.000 He was thwarted only when an observant Secret Service agent spotted him and opened fire first.

00:30:46.000 By the way, look at that horrific coverage there by the New York Times.

00:30:50.000 If you read that, you would only believe that this was some sort of right-wing disaffected Republican.

00:30:54.000 This guy is a nut job, career-long left-winger who the only indicator that he was Republican at all in any way, shape, or form is that he said he voted for Trump in 2016.

00:31:04.000 That's pretty much it.

00:31:05.000 And then he had some weird tweet about how he wanted Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley to team up to stop Trump in the 2024 election.

00:31:12.000 That's it. 1.00

00:31:13.000 He's got a Biden-Harris sticker on his damn truck. 0.99

00:31:16.000 He has an entire book he wrote in which he wishes for Donald Trump's death and prays for the government of Iran. 0.99

00:31:22.000 Like, uh, no.

00:31:23.000 No, New York Times.

00:31:25.000 But according to the New York Times, quote, in the space of less than a week, the once and possibly future commander-in-chief was both a seeming inspiration and an apparent target of the political violence that has increasingly come to shape American politics in the modern era.

00:31:37.000 Bomb threats and attempted assassinations now have become part of the landscape, shocking and horrific, and not so much that they've forced any real national reckoning.

00:31:45.000 So it's all about Trump, obviously.

00:31:48.000 It's really about Trump.

00:31:49.000 In fact, Biden and Harris are the good guys in Peter Baker's narrative for the New York Times, quote, President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris both issued statements condemning the latest incident, but the campaign continued uninterrupted.

00:32:01.000 Barely four hours after Mr. Trump was hustled into a motorcade away from the golf club for his protection, his finance team sent out an email to its fundraising list with a button to click to make a donation.

00:32:10.000 My resolve is only stronger after another attempt on my life, Mr. Trump said in an email.

00:32:14.000 Ms.

00:32:14.000 Harris's fundraising emails continued as well.

00:32:18.000 So again, the idea here is that Donald Trump is the cause of everything.

00:32:24.000 Which, again, lends itself to the very narrative used by would-be shooters.

00:32:29.000 If Donald Trump is the locus of all evil, both against him and on his behalf, then removal... I mean, that... I don't know how you avoid the implication.

00:32:40.000 I honestly don't know how you do.

00:32:43.000 So, it's very difficult to make that narrative work, right?

00:32:46.000 The narrative that Donald Trump's rhetoric somehow boomeranged on him, and that is why, in the space of eight weeks, two separate people have tried to shoot him, two separate times.

00:32:56.000 Very difficult to explain how that narrative works.

00:32:58.000 How it isn't, in fact, that the people who did this were driven by, you know, Donald Trump's opponents.

00:33:03.000 That maybe it has more to do with people hating Trump, and then radical whack jobs who hate Trump, listening to the people who hate Trump, and then going and doing evil things.

00:33:12.000 So what do they do?

00:33:13.000 They have to play up the situation in Springfield, Ohio.

00:33:16.000 And they have to play up the eating the dogs and eating the cats thing.

00:33:20.000 Now, here's what we know.

00:33:22.000 Ohio Governor Mike DeWine came out yesterday, and he said they've had something like 33 bomb threats.

00:33:26.000 All of them have been hoaxes, and many of them have been foreign. 1.00

00:33:28.000 Here is the governor of Ohio, who, by the way, is no, like, great ally of President Trump, yesterday in Springfield.

00:33:35.000 At least 33 separate bomb threats.

00:33:42.000 Each one of which has been responded to, and each one of whom has been found as a hoax.

00:33:53.000 So, thirty-three threats, thirty-three hoax.

00:33:57.000 I want to make that very, very clear.

00:34:00.000 None of these had any validity at all.

00:34:06.000 Okay, and he would go on to say that many of those hoaxes were driven by foreign sources, that the calls were actually coming from outside the country.

00:34:13.000 But according to the left, this is the worst thing happening in American politics today, not the attempted assassination of one of the major candidates and the former president.

00:34:20.000 The worst thing happening is that Donald Trump said a thing about the Haitian residents of Springfield, Ohio.

00:34:26.000 Now, again, I've seen no evidence.

00:34:28.000 That the residents of Springfield, Ohio, who are Haitian, are eating the cats and eating the dogs. 1.00

00:34:32.000 That evidence has not yet come to light.

00:34:34.000 What I have seen is a lot of social problems in Springfield, Ohio.

00:34:38.000 I'm not a big fan of trafficking in stories that are completely unverified or just based on anecdotal evidence.

00:34:45.000 I tend not to take them super seriously until there's been some sort of confirming evidence.

00:34:51.000 With that said, the idea that the big story of the week, after someone again tries to shoot Trump in the head allegedly, that the big story of the week is that Trump and Vance said a thing about eating the cats and eating the dogs, and that that's the true source of American political violence, is pretty wild.

00:35:07.000 But that's exactly what the Democrats are trying to retail.

00:35:10.000 So for example, here is former Alabama Senator Doug Jones.

00:35:15.000 Saying, you know, look what's happening to that poor town.

00:35:17.000 That poor town, all because of Trump.

00:35:18.000 There were no problems in Springfield, Ohio until Trump and Vance made problems.

00:35:23.000 Look what is happening to that poor town up there.

00:35:26.000 Cancelling events, cancelling classes, shutting down classes in the university where they happen to go online.

00:35:32.000 That's not the way people want to live.

00:35:35.000 And that's exactly the way people will live if Donald Trump and J.D.

00:35:39.000 Vance get elected.

00:35:42.000 MSNBC's Mark McKinnon.

00:35:43.000 He says, you know, the political violence that Trump is talking about, it's coming from him because of the eating the cats and the eating the dogs.

00:35:51.000 Republicans want to get into a back-and-forth to check the record on who's raised the heat on the violent rhetoric more than the other party.

00:35:58.000 I think they're in a bad position there.

00:36:00.000 But to your point about creating stories, that's just a nice way of dressing it up.

00:36:05.000 What they're saying is, we lied about it.

00:36:08.000 We lied about it in order to bring something that we think is a good political issue for us, and a consequence of that is what we're seeing now, which is just what you're talking about, violence.

00:36:17.000 They're having bomb threats in schools over a story that they, quote, created, that they lied about.

00:36:23.000 So they're the ones, I mean, that's an exact example in Springfield right now, of them raising the rhetoric, raising the heat on a false story, on a lie, that's created a bomb threat at schools.

00:36:35.000 You don't have to look too far to see where the problem's coming from.

00:36:39.000 Now, again, what this comes down to is what I said at the very beginning of the show.

00:36:42.000 For people on the left, or people who hate Trump at this point, anybody who disagrees with them is an emissary of evil whose brain has probably been thwarted by Trump, which means your opposition to their policy agenda puts you in that camp.

00:36:55.000 You know, talking about ramping up the rhetoric and creating massive divisions in American society, that's precisely how to do it.

00:37:02.000 I mean, look at Joe Biden.

00:37:03.000 So yesterday, Joe Biden, who, believe it or not, is still the President of the United States.

00:37:06.000 It is astonishing to me how the biggest story in the country is not that we have a senile man as President of the United States, the most powerful person on Earth, does not have a functioning brain at this point, and everybody's just kind of going about their business.

00:37:17.000 So I gotta say, well done by the founders for constructing a system so uniquely durable that we can put somebody fully brain-dead in the presidency and everything kind of keeps going.

00:37:26.000 Anyway.

00:37:27.000 Joe Biden was speaking at the National Historically Black Colleges Conference, and he suggested that talking about what's going on in Springfield, Ohio puts the values of DEI under attack.

00:37:40.000 But today, affirmative action and the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion are under attack like not long since I started as a young civil rights guy.

00:37:51.000 Books are being banned.

00:37:54.000 History is being erased.

00:37:56.000 HBCUs have received bomb threats.

00:38:00.000 And right now, lies and hate are being spread about Haitian Americans in Ohio.

00:38:08.000 It's wrong.

00:38:10.000 It's simply wrong.

00:38:11.000 And it must stop.

00:38:14.000 It's all about DEI.

00:38:15.000 It's part of a broader attack on our values, the soul of America, and it must be stopped.

00:38:21.000 The problem is if you keep saying that over and over and over, someone might take you seriously.

00:38:24.000 But there is one type of rhetoric, of course, that the left really doesn't like, and that is pretty much anything they disagree with is now in the violent matrix that justifies any action on their part.

00:38:32.000 Get to that in a moment.

00:38:33.000 First, with the most crucial election of our lifetime just 48 days away, you need the truth.

00:38:45.000 Case in point, we've now had a second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

00:38:50.000 It's 48 hours later, and the national news are already turning to why Donald Trump is a mean man who probably caused it.

00:38:55.000 I mean, there's an actual headline from Politico right now.

00:38:57.000 Quote, Republicans outraged over possible assassination attempt. 0.92

00:39:01.000 They are going to keep trying to kill Trump.

00:39:03.000 Somehow this turned into a Republican pounces story from the media. 0.93

00:39:06.000 Shocker.

00:39:06.000 It's the same old story.

00:39:07.000 They don't want you to know what's happening.

00:39:08.000 They want you to buy their narrative.

00:39:30.000 So remember, according to the left, Rhetoric from the left, totally fine, no matter how violent, no matter how suggestive, all of that is totally fine.

00:39:38.000 Rhetoric from the right, inherently bad, inherently evil, and probably requires some sort of government activity.

00:39:45.000 So, the other day, Elon Musk tweeted out after the second assassination attempt.

00:39:50.000 He tweeted, and no one is even trying to assassinate Biden and Kamala.

00:39:54.000 Now, it wasn't a call for an attempted assassination against Biden or Kamala.

00:39:57.000 He was just pointing out that the perceived threat of Trump is higher than the perceived threat of Biden and Kamala because they are a continuation of the status quo.

00:40:05.000 That's obviously what he meant by the tweet.

00:40:07.000 Obviously.

00:40:10.000 He responded to one request to reconsider his comment saying no one has even tried to do so is the point I'm making and no one will.

00:40:17.000 And then he responded to another request to delete and he said fair enough I don't want to do what they have done even in jest.

00:40:23.000 I mean, again, it is very clear what he was attempting to say there.

00:40:25.000 What he was basically saying is that the reason that they are trying to kill Trump is because he's a threat to the system, Biden and Harris aren't a threat to the system, so no one's trying to kill them right now.

00:40:34.000 That may or may not be true.

00:40:35.000 That is what he is attempting to say.

00:40:37.000 The White House immediately issues a statement on that.

00:40:39.000 So the White House, which has been complicit in every Attempt to link Donald Trump with violence.

00:40:44.000 Every attempt to treat Donald Trump is uniquely dangerous.

00:40:47.000 The White House, which is behind the messaging that Donald Trump is a threat to the very fabric and soul of the United States of America in a unique way, not as part of a broader movement that has different priorities, but as part of a broader movement that wishes to tear away the entirety of the United States, turn it into a tyrannical theocracy.

00:41:04.000 This White House, which is literally behind that effort, is very angry at Elon Musk.

00:41:08.000 Quote, as President Biden and Vice President Harris said

00:41:10.000 after yesterday's disturbing news, there is no place for political violence

00:41:13.000 or for any violence ever in our country.

00:41:15.000 We must all do our part to ensure this incident does not lead to more violence.

00:41:18.000 Violence should only be condemned, not encouraged or joked about.

00:41:21.000 This rhetoric is irresponsible.

00:41:22.000 Okay, so this prompted Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo,

00:41:28.000 which is a relatively popular left-wing website, to write, quote,

00:41:31.000 this man is a dangerous, degenerate influence within the American state. This is only a half step away

00:41:36.000 from incitement to murder.

00:41:38.000 No, it isn't.

00:41:39.000 Eventually, the U.S.

00:41:40.000 will have to take the necessary steps to expropriate, with fair market compensation, the national security assets Musk has acquired through government contracts and subsidies, or exercise oversight necessary to safeguard American national security.

00:41:51.000 Too many examples of his using those assets to provide aid to adversary states.

00:41:56.000 So, Josh Marshall using this opportunity to suggest that the national government of the United States expropriate the property of Elon Musk.

00:42:03.000 For a tweet, a tweet that is not calling for violence against Biden-Harris, it's pointing out that the levels of threat to Biden and Harris are lower than those against Trump for a reason.

00:42:13.000 Again, the way that it works, if you are just non-left, Elon Musk is not a right-winger in any traditional sense.

00:42:19.000 He's just not left.

00:42:21.000 The level of outrage and the justified level, than they believe, of action-taking by the government is insane.

00:42:30.000 It's wild.

00:42:32.000 And yet that is the continued narrative from the left today.

00:42:36.000 How two attempted assassinations against the former president of the United States somehow turns into a referendum on the person who is the victim of the assassination attempt is beyond me.

00:42:47.000 I mean, truly, you gotta hand it to them.

00:42:48.000 And it demonstrates what an insane bubble they live in the middle of.

00:42:51.000 That that sounds reasonable to them.

00:42:53.000 That that sounds like, okay, well, you know, that makes perfect sense.

00:42:57.000 It has nothing to do with you.

00:42:59.000 It has nothing to do with what you do every day.

00:43:01.000 It has nothing to do with MSNBC going on air every single day and declaring that Donald Trump is basically Hitler without the mustache.

00:43:07.000 It has nothing to do with Joe Biden getting up there and giving speeches for years on end about how Donald Trump is the gravest threat to the American Republic.

00:43:14.000 It has nothing to do with the suggestion that Donald Trump is a revolutionary insurrectionist who attempted to overthrow the government of the United States and came within a hair's breadth of doing so on January 6th.

00:43:24.000 Which is not actually what happened on January 6th.

00:43:27.000 Donald Trump laid out a bunch of specious legal theories that were rejected in court, and then he laid out another specious legal theory that ended up being overridden by Republicans in Congress.

00:43:38.000 And yet, somehow, when Donald Trump, again, twice in eight weeks, is victimized by attempted assassinations, the story is, of course, of course, of course, about right-wing rhetoric.

00:43:49.000 I get the feeling that you don't actually care too much about the assassination attempt.

00:43:52.000 All you care about is silencing your opponents.

00:43:54.000 That's the thing that I get the sense of if you are in the Democrat media human centipede.

00:43:59.000 The goal of that media Democrat human centipede is to indoctrinate.

00:44:03.000 It is to make you think in a certain way.

00:44:05.000 But the things they want you to think are not actually consonant with reality or decency.

00:44:09.000 If you want to think better in a different way, check out Grand Canyon University.

00:45:07.000 Meanwhile, remember Joe Biden is still the president and Kamala Harris is still the sitting vice president of the United States.

00:45:11.000 It is unbelievable to me.

00:45:13.000 That her entire campaign is now about turning the page.

00:45:17.000 In the words of Gwen Wells, turn the page.

00:45:21.000 She's been tweeting out over and over and over that she is a change in the middle of this stream. 0.58

00:45:25.000 There's only one problem.

00:45:25.000 She's the sitting vice president of the United States.

00:45:27.000 So let me just bring you a few events happening under the sitting vice president of the United States.

00:45:31.000 One, the explosion of the federal debt.

00:45:34.000 The massive explosion of the federal debt.

00:45:35.000 35 trillion in federal debt.

00:45:38.000 A decade ago, our federal debt was something like Eighteen trillion dollars.

00:45:43.000 You basically doubled it in the last decade.

00:45:45.000 No plans to bring that down.

00:45:47.000 Meanwhile, on the foreign front, Venezuela has now detained three Americans.

00:45:51.000 Why, shocker, it turns out that when you negotiate with terrorists and when you cut really bad prisoner swap deals, as the Biden administration has repeatedly done, you're incentivizing America's enemies to take Americans hostage, which is precisely what the government of Venezuela is now doing.

00:46:05.000 After a prisoner swap with Venezuela's regime last year, Biden administration officials celebrated and said they had commitments from President Nicolas Maduro's regime not to detain more Americans.

00:46:15.000 Nearly nine months later, Maduro's authoritarian government says it has locked up three US citizens, including an active Navy serviceman, on allegations of coup plotting in a case highlighting the short-lived returns from last year's hostage exchange.

00:46:27.000 Over the weekend, Venezuelan Interior and Justice Minister Diosdado Cabello in a news conference said three Americans, two Spaniards and a Czech national have been arrested for conspiring on behalf of American intelligence services.

00:46:39.000 He identified the active U.S.

00:46:40.000 sailor as a former Navy SEAL named Wilbert Castaneda and named two other Americans without providing more details.

00:46:46.000 The U.S.

00:46:46.000 denied the accusations.

00:46:47.000 Cabello didn't offer any evidence for his assertions.

00:46:51.000 So, look at that.

00:46:52.000 Amazing.

00:46:52.000 It turns out that America's enemies have now decided that because the Biden administration is weak, they're just going to willy-nilly take American citizens hostage.

00:47:00.000 So, there's that going on.

00:47:01.000 That's really exciting.

00:47:03.000 Meanwhile, in more international news, Congo, which has had an ongoing civil war for years and years and years at this point, has become the victim of a massive epidemic caused by radical Muslim insurrectionist groups in Congo.

00:47:18.000 This receives pretty much zero attention ever, despite the fact that apparently in one area of the country, something like 80% of the women have been raped.

00:47:28.000 They're attempting to go to areas where there are food.

00:47:31.000 There's a camp around Goma that hosts about 500,000 displaced people.

00:47:35.000 Apparently 80% of the women have been raped, including girls as young as 8. 0.98

00:47:39.000 And they're being raped by Muslim radical groups. 0.99

00:47:43.000 This is not worth any sort of media attention. 0.99

00:47:47.000 What is worth media attention, obviously, is Israel defending itself.

00:47:50.000 That obviously is the thing that is worth media attention.

00:47:53.000 It's the thing we all ought to have eyes on, is the supposed plight of the Gaza Strip.

00:47:58.000 And I say supposed because it is at the hands of Hamas, not at the hands of Israel. 0.68

00:48:01.000 So the United States right now is trying to warn Israel against escalating its fight with Hezbollah.

00:48:06.000 Amos Huckstein, the U.S.

00:48:08.000 envoy, has warned Israel over escalating its fight with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

00:48:12.000 Well, I mean, if he's got any alternative ideas, I'm sure Israel is willing to hear them. 0.75

00:48:16.000 The upper third of Israel is basically empty.

00:48:18.000 It is empty because Hezbollah has been firing rockets every single night into northern Israel for almost a year at this point.

00:48:25.000 And Israel's like, listen, at some point we're going to have to actually, you know, make our territory livable for our citizens.

00:48:32.000 Oh, you mean it could spread?

00:48:32.000 I've noticed it's spread already.

00:48:33.000 And that's because you guys are cowards. 0.97

00:48:34.000 And I mean Amos Hochstein and the Biden administration. 0.99

00:48:36.000 If they just said to Israel, go hog wild.

00:48:37.000 Do what you need to do to secure yourself.

00:48:39.000 You'll have the support you need.

00:48:40.000 This thing would have been over in February.

00:48:42.000 in Gaza could spread.

00:48:43.000 Oh, you mean it could spread?

00:48:45.000 I've noticed it spread already. 1.00

00:48:47.000 And that's because you guys are cowards. 0.98

00:48:49.000 And I mean, Amos Hoxhteen and the Biden administration, if they just said to Israel, go hog wild, 0.98

00:48:53.000 do what you need to do to secure yourself.

00:48:54.000 You'll have the support you need.

00:48:56.000 This thing would have been over in February.

00:48:57.000 It would have been over already.

00:49:00.000 Instead, they decided they were going to basically hold the leash on Israel and yank it every 0.78

00:49:04.000 so often to prevent Israel from doing what it had to do to defend itself in the mistaken

00:49:08.000 belief that if they didn't, then Iran was going to get involved in some sort of gigantic

00:49:13.000 World War Three, as opposed to the reality, which is that Iran is actually intimidated

00:49:18.000 by the combined firepower of Israel and its allies.

00:49:21.000 Thank you.

00:49:23.000 Doesn't matter.

00:49:23.000 That's what the U.S.

00:49:24.000 is focused in on, which presumably, again, would be one of the reasons that you have Foreign actors who are taking Americans hostage. 0.75

00:49:33.000 Because why the hell not?

00:49:34.000 Joe Biden is a soft touch, and so is Kamala Harris.

00:49:36.000 And meanwhile, we have some shocking news in the scientific community.

00:49:39.000 It turns out that Nature Magazine is once again endorsing Joe Biden.

00:49:44.000 No, no.

00:49:45.000 So, if you wonder what the hell Nature Magazine has to do with politics, you're not the only one, but they did this back in 2020.

00:49:52.000 What it ended up doing was not actually moving votes toward Joe Biden, it just ended up making people believe that Nature is a politically motivated magazine.

00:49:58.000 Which, of course, it is.

00:50:00.000 Nature put out an entire statement saying, quote, we live in an era in which there are many attempts

00:50:03.000 to politicize science.

00:50:04.000 Some scientists are concerned such attempts will reduce both public confidence in science and people's willingness

00:50:09.000 to rely on scientific information to manage a challenge such as a pandemic.

00:50:13.000 Nature was one of several prominent scientific publications to endorse Joe Biden in the 2020 US presidential election.

00:50:20.000 And now they're doing it again.

00:50:21.000 Wow.

00:50:22.000 You guys, well done guys.

00:50:25.000 That is awesome.

00:50:26.000 And by the way, they did conduct a poll as to how that impacted how people view Nature Magazine.

00:50:34.000 And it turned out that people don't like Nature Magazine as much because they're like, wait, I thought you guys do nature, not politics.

00:50:40.000 But unfortunately, the scientific community has engaged in politics more and more while ignoring some of the biggest issues on the planet.

00:50:45.000 Only now, for example, are scientists beginning to investigate just how much crap there is in our bodies thanks to, for example, all of the wrapping materials that are used on all the foods that we eat.

00:50:56.000 According to the Washington Post, researchers from Switzerland and other countries have discovered that of the roughly 14,000 known chemicals in food packaging, 3,601, or about 25%, have been found in the human body, whether in samples of blood, hair, or breast milk.

00:51:10.000 Those chemicals include metals, volatile organic compounds, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, phthalates, and many other materials known to disrupt the endocrine system and cause cancer or other diseases.

00:51:26.000 Apparently all this stuff is unregulated.

00:51:28.000 The chemicals leach out of the packaging.

00:51:31.000 According to Jane Monk, the Chief Scientific Officer for the Food Packaging Forum.

00:51:36.000 By the way, some of the worst things for food packaging?

00:51:39.000 Recycling paper, cardboard, or plastic for food packaging.

00:51:42.000 Apparently it makes it much, much worse.

00:51:43.000 It leaches much easier into all of the materials.

00:51:46.000 Why is it that we are only finding out about this now?

00:51:48.000 Why is it that we all spent our entire life eating out of these sorts of packages?

00:51:52.000 And only now has the scientific community decided to actually, you know, check it out.

00:51:56.000 The truth is, the scientific community has spent a very long time Doing politics instead of actual scientific exploration.

00:52:03.000 We sat down a little bit earlier this week with my friend, Dr. Marty Makary.

00:52:05.000 He has a brand new book out called Blind Spots, to talk about the scientific community, what they're ignoring, including issues of, say, food security.

00:52:13.000 Here's what it sounded like.

00:52:15.000 Joining us on the line is my friend, Dr. Marty Makary.

00:52:16.000 He's a renowned surgeon and professor at Johns Hopkins University.

00:52:20.000 Also, he's the author of the brand new book, Blind Spots, when medicine gets it wrong and what it means for our health.

00:52:25.000 Marty, great to talk to you.

00:52:27.000 Great to see you, Ben.

00:52:28.000 So let's talk about so many, there's so many blind spots in the American medical system.

00:52:32.000 Why don't we start with one that RFK Jr.

00:52:34.000 is constantly talking about, and that is chronic disease.

00:52:37.000 He's been talking about this for a very long time, the increase in chronic disease, failures of nutrition.

00:52:42.000 How bad is it in the United States?

00:52:44.000 Well, it's epidemic and it's far worse than any other problem really facing this country.

00:52:49.000 It's expensive, it's a national security issue, and it's sad.

00:52:54.000 We're one of the wealthiest countries in the world and half of our nation's children are sick with overweight or obesity.

00:53:00.000 The rate of autism goes up by 14% each year for the last 23 years.

00:53:06.000 No one seems to be asking why.

00:53:07.000 Fertility rates are going down.

00:53:09.000 Sperm counts are down 50% over the last five decades.

00:53:13.000 We have the earliest age of puberty than any other country years before, and no one has been talking about this epidemic.

00:53:21.000 We can keep throwing good money after bad after this problem, but we have a sick population with an epidemic of chronic diseases that no one has been talking about.

00:53:32.000 Only The system is talking about medicating and operating on these conditions.

00:53:37.000 So, Marty, where is this coming from?

00:53:39.000 When you look at these epidemics that didn't exist a while ago, is it our food supply?

00:53:44.000 Is it how we're doing vaccination?

00:53:46.000 What exactly are the problems?

00:53:48.000 Well, first of all, you're absolutely right.

00:53:51.000 This is a brand new phenomenon.

00:53:53.000 Two generations ago, these were rare conditions.

00:53:56.000 Now, a quarter of kids have fatty infiltration of the liver, which is a predisposing factor to liver cancer.

00:54:03.000 My field of pancreatic cancer has The pancreatic cancer rates have doubled in the last two decades and nobody is asking why.

00:54:11.000 We've got to look at the food supply.

00:54:13.000 We've poisoned our food supply.

00:54:15.000 We've created ultra-processed foods.

00:54:17.000 We've got dangerous ingredients that are really chemicals with the misnomer because they sound natural, like natural seed oils.

00:54:25.000 This is a result of government subsidies to soybeans and corn.

00:54:30.000 And so we create this cheap ingredient that then gets denatured and turned into a chemical in the form of seed oils.

00:54:37.000 And pesticides are ubiquitous now.

00:54:40.000 We pour five to six billion gallons of pesticides on our food, on agriculture.

00:54:46.000 And guess what?

00:54:47.000 Pesticides have hormone-like binding properties.

00:54:51.000 They have estrogen-like binding properties.

00:54:53.000 And they're changing the microbiome, that is the gut health, the lining of bacteria that normally digests food and trains the immune system in our body.

00:55:03.000 It's being altered by these chemicals in our food supply, by antibiotics that are given unnecessarily 60% of the time, by C-sections that are unnecessary 40% of the time.

00:55:16.000 So we've ignored these giant blind spots of health and we've got to start talking about them.

00:55:22.000 The NIH has not been funding this stuff.

00:55:24.000 They're too busy funding bat coronavirus research in Wuhan and other things.

00:55:30.000 This is where we need our research funding.

00:55:32.000 Actually, one of the questions that has come up sort of in our personal life, my wife got very into, she's a family physician, she got very into looking at You know, the materials that people use to eat on, paper plates, you know, the sort of, you know, plastic plates that you get at the grocery store or whatever, and she became very concerned about microplastics.

00:55:50.000 There was a study recently that came out that suggested the microplastics are now becoming ubiquitous in American bodies, that actually a certain percentage of people's brain tissue is now microplastic.

00:56:00.000 What's happening with that?

00:56:01.000 What is that?

00:56:02.000 Do we know what any of that means?

00:56:03.000 Yeah, so there's a good study that shows that microplastics that are common in food and drink, they have estrogen-like binding properties.

00:56:12.000 So we're doing something.

00:56:14.000 We're changing the body's physiology in ways we don't appreciate.

00:56:18.000 It may also change the microbiome in one's gut health.

00:56:21.000 And what happens is, Ben, when you take in a foreign chemical, something that does not appear in nature, be it a derivative of seed oil, microplastic, or a pesticide, or an engineered food ingredient, The body rejects it because the gut has an immune system in its lining.

00:56:38.000 It's a very strong immune system.

00:56:40.000 So it responds.

00:56:41.000 And it's not a big acute inflammatory reaction.

00:56:45.000 It's a low-level reaction.

00:56:47.000 And it's chronic.

00:56:48.000 And it causes chronic inflammation throughout the body.

00:56:52.000 And it makes people feel sick.

00:56:53.000 And we're puzzled why 40% of children will have a mental health diagnosis.

00:57:00.000 In some cases, we've been poisoning them and their bodies just feel blah.

00:57:04.000 They feel sick from this reaction.

00:57:05.000 You know, Marty, this is such, it's so troubling to hear all of this, obviously, because you're talking about a decades-long entrenched problem at this point.

00:57:14.000 And many of the figures who have been out there talking about this stuff, I mentioned again, RFK Jr., you know, I don't agree with a lot of RFK Jr.' 's prescriptions for this, right?

00:57:21.000 Obviously, he's been widely anti-vaccination, not just anti the mRNA vaccines, He's not just questioned the vaccine schedules.

00:57:27.000 In many cases, he's gone further and suggested that, for example, the uptick in autism, massive uptick in autism, is due to vaccinations, a proposition that I see very little evidence of.

00:57:36.000 But it becomes so difficult to distinguish what is true from what is false in this sphere because very few Americans have actually gone to medical school.

00:57:44.000 Even the ones who have gone to medical school are apparently spewing kind of what they've been taught very often by a system that is promulgating these things.

00:57:50.000 How is a normal person going about their daily life to actually determine what's healthy and what's not?

00:57:54.000 And it's exhausting to think about, you know, going to the grocery store and having to think about, like, what do I eat that doesn't poison me?

00:58:00.000 And to prioritize health priorities, for example, is avoiding microplastics the most important thing?

00:58:07.000 So look, I tell people, eat organic foods.

00:58:11.000 Avoid these chemical pesticides.

00:58:13.000 Avoid ultra-processed foods.

00:58:14.000 When possible, cook with the avocado and olive oils and coconut oils, not with the cheap canola, sunflower, vegetable oils.

00:58:24.000 And try to think about basic biblical principles of eating whole foods that grow in soil, clean meats, fast, meditate.

00:58:34.000 I mean, we're almost rediscovering the benefits of a lot of these basic principles of just simple living.

00:58:41.000 But you're absolutely right.

00:58:43.000 People need some guidance, and that's why a group of doctors and I have said we're going to go directly to the public.

00:58:49.000 And that's why I wrote the book Blind Spots, to educate people that we have got medicine terribly wrong when it came to saying opioids were not addictive.

00:58:59.000 We ignited the opioid crisis, the modern-day peanut allergy epidemic.

00:59:03.000 We ignited that by giving people bad advice.

00:59:07.000 And the food pyramid ignited the obesity epidemic.

00:59:11.000 So, ironically, sometimes medical establishment causes or hastens many of our modern-day health crises through medical dogma.

00:59:20.000 Marty, one of the things you talk about in Blindspots, and we've talked about it a lot before, is you mentioned the NIH, you mentioned medical research.

00:59:26.000 And when it comes to the medical research, medical research, you're always rewarded

00:59:30.000 for saying something new.

00:59:31.000 You're never rewarded for debunking something old.

00:59:34.000 If there's a well-established body of medical opinion and then you come along and you disrupt that

00:59:38.000 and you say, this is just not true, there's no reward structure in medicine for doing that.

00:59:42.000 And there's certainly no reward structure in sort of the medical research field

00:59:45.000 for even going back and trying to do a confirming study.

00:59:49.000 So a huge number of studies that have been done are thrown out there.

00:59:52.000 And then there is no mechanism for people like, why would you pay for somebody to duplicate a study?

00:59:56.000 The study is just assumed to be good until further notice. 0.93

00:59:59.000 And then it turns out 20 years later, it turns out the study was crap, 0.54

01:00:02.000 but we based an entire field of medicine on it or something.

01:00:04.000 We need good research on the microbiome.

01:00:07.000 We need to repeat clinical trials that were only done once before we create entire guidelines.

01:00:13.000 Sometimes up to 40% of everything we do in medicine gets reversed when a second study eventually gets funded.

01:00:20.000 But pharma is not interested in a second repeat study if the first study shows some marginal benefit.

01:00:26.000 And the old guard dinosaur professors at the NIH are set in their ways.

01:00:31.000 I mean we saw a little glimpse of that during COVID.

01:00:33.000 A group of doctors in their 70s and 80s deciding what's going to get research and what's not and it turns out there was no research funding for natural immunity or vaccine complications or actually study the effectiveness of cloth masks or even require a clinical trial on COVID vaccine boosters.

01:00:51.000 So they weaponized research and it's a much bigger problem beyond COVID.

01:00:55.000 I don't talk about COVID much in the book.

01:00:57.000 It's too tribal.

01:00:58.000 People are sick of it.

01:00:59.000 But this is a peek into a broader medical establishment.

01:01:02.000 Maybe we need to talk about Treating more diabetes with cooking classes instead of just throwing insulin at people.

01:01:09.000 Maybe we need to talk about school lunch programs, not just putting every kid on Ozempic.

01:01:13.000 Maybe we need to talk about environmental exposures that cause cancer, not just the chemo to treat it.

01:01:18.000 We need to talk about food as medicine and general body inflammation and the microbiome.

01:01:24.000 Well, that's Dr. Marty Makary, his brand new book, Blind Spots, is available September 17th.

01:01:29.000 Dr. Makary, great to talk to you as always.

01:01:31.000 Great to see you.

01:01:31.000 Thanks, Ben.

01:01:49.000 It never really seemed to matter that much, at least not to me.

01:01:52.000 Am I racist?

01:01:53.000 I would really appreciate it if you left.

01:01:55.000 I'm trying to learn.

01:01:55.000 I'm on this journey.

01:01:57.000 I'm gonna sort this out.

01:01:58.000 I need to go deeper undercover.

01:02:01.000 They all say I'm racist.

01:02:02.000 Joining us now is Matt, certified DEI expert.

01:02:07.000 What you're doing is you're stretching out of your whiteness. 0.71

01:02:10.000 Listen more for you in this field.

01:02:11.000 Is America inherently racist?

01:02:12.000 The word inherent is challenging there.

01:02:14.000 You want to rename the George Washington Monument to the George Floyd Monument?

01:02:17.000 America is racist to its bones.

01:02:19.000 So inherently? 0.98

01:02:20.000 Yeah.
