The Ben Shapiro Show - Biden's Insane New Mask Mandates | Ep. 1308

00:00:00.000 President Biden calls on everyone vaccinated to mask again.

00:00:03.000 The CDC links its masking case to a COVID outbreak that killed zero people.

00:00:07.000 And the Biden economy is coming up short.

00:00:09.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.

00:00:09.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.

00:00:10.000 The Ben Shapiro Show is sponsored by ExpressVPN.

00:00:18.000 Your data is your business protected at expressvpn.com.

00:00:22.000 Slash Ben, we'll get to all the news in just one moment.

00:00:24.000 First, your reminder that if you have one of the big wireless providers, you are spending too much money on your cell phone bill.

00:00:29.000 You should have switched over to Pure Talk USA long ago.

00:00:32.000 And many of my fans who already have done this have saved a lot of money.

00:00:36.000 They've got the same great coverage because Pure Talk is on the exact same network as one of the big three, but at a fraction of the price.

00:00:42.000 In fact, Pure Talk could save your family over $800 a year switching It's as easy as switching out your SIM card.

00:00:47.000 You can keep your phone, keep your number, or get huge discounts on the latest iPhones and Androids.

00:00:52.000 Plus, right now you can get unlimited talk, text, and 6GB of data for just $30 a month.

00:00:56.000 And if you go over on the data, they're not going to charge you for it.

00:00:58.000 There's a reason Pure Talk is the highest rated wireless company by Consumer Affairs and why they are the preferred wireless partner of AMAC.

00:01:05.000 From your cell phone, dial pound 250, say Ben Shapiro.

00:01:08.000 Save an additional 50% off your very first month.

00:01:10.000 That is pound 250.

00:01:12.000 Say my name, Ben Shapiro, to get started.

00:01:14.000 Save an additional 50% off your first month and hundreds of dollars down the road.

00:01:18.000 Again, you don't need one of the big wireless providers to get the same great coverage and also spend a fraction of the money.

00:01:24.000 Check them out right now.

00:01:25.000 Dial pound 250, say Ben Shapiro.

00:01:26.000 Get started with my friends at PeerTalk USA.

00:01:29.000 Okay, so yesterday, the president of the United States came out and said that it was time to remask if you were fully vaccinated.

00:01:38.000 So before we get to Joe Biden's actual explanation of this nonsensical policy, let's start with what we know and what we don't know at this point.

00:01:47.000 Here is what we know.

00:01:48.000 If you are vaccinated, you are very, very, very, very safe from COVID.

00:01:53.000 When I say very, very, very safe, what I mean is that 161 million people in the United States have been vaccinated against COVID.

00:02:00.000 Of those 161 million people, approximately 6,000 people have gotten breakthrough cases requiring hospitalization and about 1,700 people have died.

00:02:07.000 This means that your chances of actually being hospitalized with COVID after getting a vaccine are somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 in 27,000.

00:02:17.000 Somewhere in that neighborhood.

00:02:18.000 And your chances of death after getting a vaccine are somewhere, by these statistics, around 1 in 100,000.

00:02:25.000 Which means that you are very, very, very, very safe from COVID if you have been vaccinated.

00:02:31.000 Nothing that the CDC is now saying changes that simple fact.

00:02:35.000 And herein lies the problem for everything that Joe Biden is saying right now.

00:02:39.000 If being vaccinated means you are very safe from the virus.

00:02:42.000 This means that even if you are capable of transmitting the virus to the unvaccinated, if every single adult in the United States has had the opportunity to get vaccinated, and then they don't, and you infect them, that is their fault.

00:02:55.000 Not your fault.

00:02:56.000 It is not your job to prevent somebody else from getting a disease that they have the ability to stop themselves from being harmed by because they won't get a vaccine.

00:03:04.000 And the idea that you're going to require the vaccinated to mask up to protect the unvaccinated is not even asked for by the unvaccinated.

00:03:11.000 This is the part that's crazy.

00:03:13.000 The vaccinated are not in danger from the unvaccinated.

00:03:16.000 The unvaccinated are in danger from the unvaccinated. 0.69

00:03:19.000 Now we're learning that the unvaccinated may be in some form of danger from the vaccinated.

00:03:23.000 What does this suggest?

00:03:24.000 Well, it suggests the obvious solution, which is the unvaccinated should think very seriously about getting vaccinated, but they should not require the kindness of strangers in order to protect themselves. 0.97

00:03:32.000 They should not require that small children mask up in order to protect them.

00:03:35.000 They should not require that people who have already vaccinated mask up in order to protect them.

00:03:39.000 This is nonsensical.

00:03:40.000 In fact, if you want to encourage people to get vaccinated, instead of requiring that the vaccinated mask up, you should do precisely the opposite.

00:03:48.000 The Biden administration seems to be operating under the assumption That there is a link between mask mandates and vaccination encouragement.

00:03:56.000 And if you push mask mandates, you can also push vaccination encouragement at the same time.

00:04:01.000 Push people to wear masks, but also push them to get vaccinated.

00:04:04.000 This is nonsensical for a variety of reasons.

00:04:06.000 First, because very often when people hear mask mandates, what they think instinctively is, oh, the vaccines must not be working.

00:04:13.000 You're seeing a lot of that over the past 24, 48 hours from people who are unlikely to get the vaccine anyway.

00:04:18.000 People saying, well, you know, we were told that the vaccines were a cure-all, and now you're telling us that the vaccinated are still passing this thing off.

00:04:23.000 So what else aren't you telling us about the vaccines?

00:04:26.000 So that's number one.

00:04:26.000 Number two, people will start to think that the masks are actually a good way of protecting people.

00:04:32.000 When it comes to Delta, the evidence that the masks are very effective in protecting people is pretty skimpy, according to Scott Gottlieb over at the FDA, as we'll get to in a second.

00:04:40.000 And finally, let's even assume that masking the vaccinated lowers the rates of transmission to people who are unvaccinated.

00:04:46.000 That does not encourage the unvaccinated to get vaccinated.

00:04:49.000 It encourages them to mask up and rely on everybody else to mask up, which means that no one is ever going to unmask for the rest of human history.

00:04:56.000 So none of this makes any sort of logical sense.

00:04:59.000 Now, let's go through the data that prompted this change in heart.

00:05:02.000 Okay, so the CDC mask decision, according to the ABC News, followed a stunning finding from a Cape Cod beach outbreak.

00:05:09.000 Hey, this is literally, as we'll see, pretty much the only piece of evidence that the CDC is relying upon is that over the 4th of July, a big crowd went to Cape Cod and a bunch of people infected each other.

00:05:20.000 And it turns out that a large number of those people were fully immunized.

00:05:23.000 As of Thursday, according to ABC News, 882 people were tied to the Provincetown outbreak.

00:05:28.000 Among those living in Massachusetts, 74% were fully immunized.

00:05:31.000 Yet officials said the vast majority were also reporting symptoms.

00:05:34.000 Now here is the thing.

00:05:36.000 How many of those people got seriously ill?

00:05:38.000 Like really seriously ill.

00:05:39.000 Not like they got cold symptoms.

00:05:40.000 Like they got really, really sick.

00:05:42.000 Out of the 882.

00:05:44.000 7 people were hospitalized. 7.

00:05:48.000 Now remember, your chances of actually getting a symptomatic breakthrough remain pretty damn low.

00:05:54.000 So this does not mean that one out of every hundred people who's vaccinated is going to end up hospitalized.

00:05:58.000 This means that one out of every hundred, even according to these stats, okay, less than one out of every hundred people who is infected with COVID after being vaccinated, which is a fraction of a fraction now, is going to be hospitalized.

00:06:10.000 And how many of these people have died?

00:06:13.000 Zero.

00:06:14.000 Zero.

00:06:14.000 So you're seeing the CDC recommend that every vaccinated person in the United States, all 161 million of them, mask up because there was an outbreak in Cape Cod that resulted in zero deaths.

00:06:23.000 And this is what you're seeing across the country.

00:06:25.000 You got D.C.

00:06:26.000 that is now recommending that everybody mask up again.

00:06:29.000 Los Angeles recommending that everybody mask up again indoors.

00:06:33.000 How many deaths, day on day, is Los Angeles County having?

00:06:37.000 Again, a county of 10 million people?

00:06:38.000 The answer is nine.

00:06:40.000 How many day-on-day deaths is Washington, D.C.

00:06:43.000 having that requires an indoor mask mandate?

00:06:45.000 The answer is zero.

00:06:48.000 Eleven people have been shot and killed in Washington, D.C.

00:06:52.000 since the last time somebody died of COVID in Washington, D.C.

00:06:54.000 They are now more likely to die of being murdered in Washington, D.C.

00:06:59.000 Like on the street.

00:07:00.000 Then you are to die of COVID in Washington, D.C., and they are going back to mask mandates anyway.

00:07:05.000 OK, so the Provincetown outbreak is apparently sort of the key here.

00:07:09.000 And then the Washington Post reports.

00:07:12.000 on this new CDC sort of report.

00:07:15.000 It was a CDC slide deck that they put out.

00:07:18.000 And the slide deck is not particularly edifying.

00:07:21.000 So we're gonna go through some of the slide deck right now.

00:07:24.000 So let's begin with what they say about the Delta variant, which is supposedly this giant game changer.

00:07:29.000 So what they say is, number one, that people are still evidencing after vaccination that if they have a breakthrough case, right?

00:07:37.000 Remember, according to this slide deck, as we will see, your chance of getting a breakthrough case, period, have been lowered by about two-thirds if you are vaccinated.

00:07:46.000 In other words, you're significantly less likely to get a breakthrough case, even of the Delta variant, if you're vaccinated.

00:07:52.000 Okay, but what they say, in the case they make, is that the viral load that you are carrying, meaning the amount of virus in your nasopharyngeal passage, in your nose basically, the amount of virus that you are carrying is similar to the unvaccinated.

00:08:07.000 The study they are relying upon is an Indian study that was already retracted and was based on a vaccine that is not legal in the United States.

00:08:15.000 And they kind of admit this on page 16 of this slide.

00:08:18.000 Quote, India report of lower cycle threshold values in Delta breakthrough cases.

00:08:22.000 The lower your cycle threshold value is, the more virus, essentially, you have.

00:08:25.000 Compared to non-Delta breakthrough cases.

00:08:28.000 Also larger cluster size with Delta breakthrough.

00:08:30.000 They say the Delta infection is associated with a longer duration of having the virus in your body, as opposed to the alpha strain, for example.

00:08:39.000 And there may be a higher risk of reinfection, but only if you had an infection more than six months ago.

00:08:44.000 Okay, so all of this is rooted in this India study, and this is the only study they cite to this effect.

00:08:49.000 That India study was already retracted.

00:08:52.000 It was based on a vaccine that we're not allowed to use in the United States.

00:08:55.000 So, questionable at best, questionable at best.

00:08:57.000 Okay, then they get some more viral load information, and they suggest that, it says at the bottom of this, preliminary data subject to change.

00:09:05.000 Okay, so this is all pretty dicey stuff.

00:09:08.000 They say, breakthrough cases reported to National Passive Surveillance have lower CT values, cycle threshold values, by three cycles, a tenfold increase in viral load for Delta compared with Alpha.

00:09:19.000 So, again, they are saying that you have a higher viral load compared with Alpha, but that's not really, this particular stat is not really comparing the vaccinated and the unvaccinated, which they say are similar.

00:09:29.000 The only piece of data that they present outside of the Indian study here, Our data from Barnstable County, Massachusetts, right?

00:09:35.000 This is this outbreak that we're talking about in Cape Cod.

00:09:37.000 It says there's no difference in mean cycle threshold values in vaccinated and unvaccinated cases.

00:09:42.000 It's saying that they haven't actually done viral load cultures here, so it's unclear.

00:09:49.000 They make an assumption.

00:09:50.000 The assumption is if the amount of virus in the nose of an unvaccinated person is the same as the amount of virus in the nose of a vaccinated person, they transmit the disease in similar fashion.

00:09:59.000 That might be a fair assumption, but it is clearly an assumption.

00:10:02.000 It is also possible that the amount of virus in a vaccinated person's nose has been affected in some way because that person is vaccinated.

00:10:09.000 Perhaps they are shedding virus that is less lethal.

00:10:12.000 Perhaps they are shedding virus that is dead, right?

00:10:15.000 It is not clear because none of this has been cultured.

00:10:18.000 Alright, so this is part of the problem.

00:10:19.000 Okay, then you get to the only chart in this whole thing that really matters.

00:10:23.000 Okay, as far as logic, the only chart that matters.

00:10:25.000 Okay, here are the charts of Pfizer two-dose vaccine efficacy for alpha versus delta.

00:10:32.000 Alpha is the original strain that was going around the world, the European strain.

00:10:35.000 Delta is the current strain that people are very much afraid of.

00:10:37.000 Okay, here's what it shows.

00:10:39.000 It shows in England and Scotland that the Pfizer vaccine is still 79% effective at preventing infection.

00:10:49.000 Okay, so before it was over 90% against alpha.

00:10:51.000 It's still about 80% effective at preventing infection.

00:10:54.000 It is still 88% effective at preventing symptomatic disease.

00:10:58.000 And it is still 96% effective at preventing hospitalization.

00:11:02.000 Okay, that last number is the one that matters because that's the one you care about, gang.

00:11:06.000 I don't care how many people every year in the United States are diagnosed with the flu if nobody dies of the flu.

00:11:11.000 I only care how many people are dying of a disease.

00:11:13.000 If no one is dying of a disease, it is of no public health relevance to us at all.

00:11:17.000 At all.

00:11:19.000 The same thing is true in Canada.

00:11:20.000 In Canada, Alpha versus Delta.

00:11:24.000 The vaccines are performing very well against symptomatic disease in Canada, and right now they've had zero deaths attributable to Delta in Canada.

00:11:32.000 In Israel, which has had this vast sort of post-Delta outbreak, Israel currently is showing a 64% Protection against confirmed infection, right?

00:11:44.000 So that's a lot lower than the 90% against confirmed alpha infection.

00:11:48.000 But it's 64% still means that basically in 60, not basically, in 64 out of 100 cases where you have the Pfizer two-dose vaccine, you're going to avoid being infected with Delta.

00:12:01.000 64% effective against symptomatic disease.

00:12:04.000 But again, we don't care about symptomatic disease.

00:12:06.000 What we care about is hospitalization or death.

00:12:09.000 Okay, hospitalization or death, 93% effective against Delta, compared with about 94% effective against Alpha.

00:12:18.000 So in other words, these vaccines are extremely effective in preventing hospitalization and death, which last time I checked, is the main job of the vaccine.

00:12:25.000 Okay, now we get to the masking portion of what the CDC suggests.

00:12:31.000 There are many problems with what the CDC suggests here in terms of masking.

00:12:35.000 So, number one, they assume natural immunity is about 5%, okay, or about 35%.

00:12:43.000 Now, it's possible natural immunity is much higher, that many, many more people have had this than the CDC is willing to contemplate.

00:12:49.000 In fact, they created these models showing how many people will likely be hospitalized and die.

00:12:56.000 Or the probability of the increase in caseload based on natural immunity numbers.

00:13:00.000 The big problem here is the model assumptions, which they list here in the CDC report.

00:13:06.000 So they assume the vaccine effectiveness in preventing transmissibility is somewhere between 75 and 85%.

00:13:12.000 Okay, fair enough.

00:13:12.000 Looking at the foreign data, that's fair enough.

00:13:15.000 Then they assume that we have had 50% of infections reported in the United States at this time.

00:13:21.000 This is wildly incorrect.

00:13:22.000 There is no way that 50% of the infections in the United States have been reported ever at any time in the United States.

00:13:30.000 The reality is the vast majority of infections already prevalent in the United States probably have not been reported.

00:13:36.000 Scott Gottlieb, former FDA commissioner, says this is an utterly unreasonable assumption.

00:13:41.000 Completely unreasonable.

00:13:42.000 How many people out there who are vaccinated, for example, have had cold symptoms?

00:13:47.000 I've had a cold symptom.

00:13:48.000 I've been tested because I have cold symptoms and I'm vaccinated.

00:13:52.000 And until the last five minutes, the CDC was saying that I was protected against COVID, even being symptomatic from it.

00:13:58.000 Okay, so 50% of infections have been reported, according to the CDC.

00:14:03.000 Wrong.

00:14:03.000 That is completely wrong, which is why Scott Gottlieb says we may be much closer to the other side of this peak.

00:14:09.000 Then the CDC is letting on.

00:14:11.000 Other assumptions they make that are wrong.

00:14:12.000 They assume that for masking, masking is going to be incredibly effective.

00:14:16.000 They assume that source control, meaning your ability to infect others, that masking prevents that by 40 to 60 percent.

00:14:25.000 Now, all of the data that they gathered on masking efficacy were always very shoddy.

00:14:29.000 These were always very shoddy, not real-world data.

00:14:32.000 But, even assuming that those data were correct, the source control 40-60% effective, this is, again, Scott Gottlieb saying this, not me, those numbers come from control of the flu.

00:14:43.000 The flu virus is much less transmissible than Delta, which is now apparently as transmissible as chickenpox.

00:14:49.000 So it is quite possible source control from masks is way lower than 40 to 60 percent, especially depending on the type of mask.

00:14:55.000 A cloth mask is way lower than that.

00:14:57.000 Using personal protection is 20 to 30 percent effective.

00:15:01.000 So masking, in other words, is not necessarily going to do very much here.

00:15:06.000 And as we've already seen in the UK, you don't need a mask mandate in order to come down the other side of this particular hill.

00:15:13.000 Okay, meanwhile, they also assume, by the way, that there will be no adjustments for other interventions, meaning that nobody in the United States is going to stop going out and stop partying and stop doing what they're doing, which of course is very silly because when people feel there's an uptick in their community from COVID and they're unvaccinated, data show they tend to get vaccinated or they tend to stay home or they tend to not go to big gatherings.

00:15:34.000 Okay, so those are all the assumptions with regard to masking efficacy.

00:15:39.000 They also make some assumptions about immunity, Again, those assumptions about immunity are not particularly, I would say, compelling.

00:15:48.000 And then finally, they make the recommendations.

00:15:50.000 And the recommendations, according to the CDC, is they say, Except the war has not changed.

00:15:57.000 This thing is just moving faster.

00:15:59.000 That's all.

00:16:00.000 That's really, that's all that's changed.

00:16:00.000 That's all.

00:16:01.000 The thing's moving faster.

00:16:03.000 Improve public's understanding of breakthrough infections.

00:16:06.000 Improve communications around individual risk among vaccinated.

00:16:09.000 Risk of severe disease or death reduced tenfold or greater in vaccinated.

00:16:13.000 Risk of infection reduced threefold in vaccinated.

00:16:16.000 Prevention.

00:16:17.000 And here's where they get to where they're going to tell you what to do.

00:16:19.000 Consider vaccine mandates for for HCP to protect vulnerable populations.

00:16:26.000 So, vaccine mandates for healthcare providers.

00:16:29.000 Okay, again, I don't actually think that one is particularly either burdensome or unreasonable considering that healthcare providers are dealing with people with underlying conditions nearly all the time.

00:16:39.000 They also recommend universal masking for source control and prevention.

00:16:42.000 They've not provided the data that supports this or even the ideological and logical rationale for this.

00:16:48.000 And reconsider other community mitigation strategies.

00:16:51.000 So now they're opening the door to new lockdowns.

00:16:53.000 They're doing all of this based on the fact that we have a very low level of death in the United States right now from COVID.

00:17:00.000 Right now, again, I'm going to keep reading you these day-on-day averages because the stats still matter to me.

00:17:04.000 The day-on-day average of seven-day death in the United States is 320.

00:17:10.000 320 people approximately die every day in the United States of Alzheimer's.

00:17:13.000 I'm going to keep saying that because you need to understand what these numbers mean in context.

00:17:17.000 In the context of COVID, this means we've reduced the death rate in the United States by a factor of approximately 10 since the height of the pandemic.

00:17:25.000 That is thanks to the vaccines.

00:17:27.000 And compared to other causes of death in the United States, like for example, heart disease, about 1800 people a day in the United States die of heart disease.

00:17:33.000 About 300 people a day are currently dying of COVID.

00:17:37.000 And now they're recommending universal masking again and maybe lockdowns.

00:17:40.000 Okay, this is madness.

00:17:41.000 It is not oriented toward reality.

00:17:43.000 It's just crazy towns.

00:17:44.000 It's just crazy towns.

00:17:45.000 And again, if the idea here is that you need a mask mandate in order to hit the peak, let me show you this chart from the UK.

00:17:51.000 The UK was in the middle of the Delta variant about two weeks before we were.

00:17:55.000 The UK hit their height about a week ago.

00:17:58.000 As you can see from this chart, they've been plummeting in the past week.

00:18:01.000 None of our magical health experts seem to be able to explain any of this.

00:18:05.000 They don't seem to be able to explain any of this.

00:18:07.000 So in other words, the methods that are now being undertaken by the Biden administration, by blue states all over the country, they don't make any form of logical sense.

00:18:15.000 Even if you can see, based on the skimpy data available, even if you can see that breakthrough infections of the vaccinated are capable of higher transmission, that still does not result in universal mask mandates.

00:18:30.000 It doesn't.

00:18:32.000 The logical gap is just not bridge. It isn't. Then Joe Biden comes out and he announces this policy. And again, he undermines his own policy because none of this makes any internal logical sense. He starts off by saying breakthrough cases are rare.

00:18:45.000 Okay, if breakthrough cases are rare, then what in the world are you talking about masking vaccinated for? Here's Joe Biden.

00:18:51.000 Many of you who are vaccinated are concerned about what's called breakthrough cases. Yes, some fully vaccinated people will still test positive and some will show some symptoms of COVID-19.

00:19:07.000 That's expected with almost every vaccine there is, for other diseases.

00:19:12.000 But breakthrough cases remain rare, and almost all are mild cases.

00:19:18.000 In fact, virtually all hospitalizations and deaths are among the unvaccinated.

00:19:25.000 Okay, so if that is true, then what are you talking about?

00:19:28.000 By the way, further note, I mentioned earlier on that a lot of what they're talking about in terms of the vaccinated spreading this thing, and they're talking about Provincetown, Cape Cod, that's party central.

00:19:40.000 That is like the most efficient method for spreading virus, as Josh Barrow points out.

00:19:44.000 Nate Silver says, whether it's true or not of Provincetown per se, the bigger problem is that you don't want to make extrapolations from outliers. But that's exactly what the CDC is now doing.

00:19:53.000 So Joe Biden then continues. He says, even if you're fully vaccinated, you could theoretically have the Delta variant in your system and pass it on to others. The CDC recommends you wear a mask when you're in public and indoors, like work or in a grocery store. That's true for both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated.

00:20:13.000 Why?

00:20:14.000 Because even if you've been fully vaccinated and protected from severe illness from COVID-19, you could have the Delta variant in your system and spread it to someone who isn't vaccinated.

00:20:25.000 Okay, so if that's your chief worry, is that I, the vaccinated person, am going to pass it to you, the unvaccinated person, wouldn't that encourage you, the unvaccinated person, to get the vaccine?

00:20:35.000 Why?

00:20:36.000 Joe Biden still has not yet explained why it is a good incentive structure to force the vaccinated to mask up to protect the unvaccinated when the unvaccinated are fully capable of making decisions for themselves.

00:20:47.000 They are adults and they get to decide whether they want to take the vaccine or not, and it's available to them at any Publix anywhere in the United States.

00:20:54.000 We'll get to more of this nonsensical policy in just one second.

00:20:57.000 By the way, it's absolutely going to come back and bite Biden.

00:21:00.000 If he thinks this is a winner for him, he's totally wrong.

00:21:02.000 We'll get to more of this in just one second.

00:21:04.000 First, we've got a very different kind of sponsor for this particular episode, the Jordan Harbinger Show, which is a podcast you really should be listening to.

00:21:11.000 I know that every day somebody tells you you just have to listen to some podcast and you nod and you say, sure, and then you never listen to it.

00:21:16.000 Well, don't let that.

00:21:18.000 Jordan's show, which Apple named one of its best of 2018, is aimed at making you a better informed, more critical thinker so you can get a sense of how the world actually works and come to your own conclusions about what's happening even inside your own brain.

00:21:29.000 Each episode is a conversation with a different, fascinating guest.

00:21:32.000 In one episode, Jordan talks to a hostage negotiator from the FBI who offers techniques on how to get people to like and trust you.

00:21:38.000 Which is both edifying and interesting and also somewhat disturbing.

00:21:41.000 Another reason to support Jordan Harbinger.

00:21:43.000 The woke mob has been going after him these days because his show has a bunch of diverse opinion makers on it and teaches people how to think versus what to think.

00:21:50.000 Go check out the show.

00:21:51.000 It's really enjoyable.

00:21:52.000 We here at the Daily Wire enjoy it.

00:21:53.000 We think you will too.

00:21:54.000 There's a lot more here.

00:21:56.000 Check out jordanharbinger.com slash start for some episode recommendations or search for The Jordan Harbinger Show.

00:22:02.000 That's H-A-R-B as in boy, I-N as in Nancy, G-E-R on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

00:22:10.000 Alrighty, so Joe Biden then lays it out.

00:22:13.000 He says, you need to wear a mask in order to protect the unvaccinated. 1.00

00:22:17.000 That's why you're going to be wearing a mask, gang.

00:22:19.000 We need to wear masks to protect each other and to stop the rapid spread of this virus as we work to get more people vaccinated.

00:22:28.000 And I hope all Americans who live in areas with substantial or high case rates will follow the mask guidance that's being laid down by the CDC.

00:22:38.000 I certainly will and I have because this is one of those areas in Washington.

00:22:43.000 Okay, by the way, Rachelle Walensky has been saying the same thing.

00:22:46.000 She says, quote, in rare occasions, some vaccinated people infected with the Delta variant after vaccination may be contagious and spread the virus to others.

00:22:53.000 Oh, so we're just going to vacc- Again, you're talking about masking up hundreds of millions of people at this point.

00:22:59.000 Based on circumstances that have been defined by the CDC director as somewhat rare, the only data that have been presented are a breakout case in Provincetown, In May, you made it sound like the vaccine was the ticket to losing the mask forever.

00:23:12.000 Even if you accept all that, the incentive structures still make no sense.

00:23:16.000 So Joe Biden was asked to explain why he changed his standards on post-vaccination masking.

00:23:21.000 And here he is not being able to explain himself, of course.

00:23:25.000 In May, you made it sound like a vaccine was the ticket to losing the mask forever.

00:23:30.000 And it- That is true at the time, because I love the people who are going to understand that getting vaccinated made a gigantic difference.

00:23:40.000 And what happened was a new variant came along, they didn't get vaccinated, it was spread more rapidly, and people more people were getting sick.

00:23:50.000 That's the difference.

00:23:51.000 Okay, well, that's not actually the difference.

00:23:53.000 The unvaccinated are in just as much danger as they ever were. 1.00

00:23:56.000 The vaccinated are in just as little danger as they ever were.

00:23:59.000 So actually the calculus did not change.

00:24:01.000 The only thing that changed here is that everybody panicked.

00:24:04.000 That's what changed here.

00:24:06.000 By the way, Biden did say that, right?

00:24:07.000 He said, if you're vaccinated, unmask.

00:24:09.000 This was Joe Biden just a couple of months ago.

00:24:12.000 It's vaxxed or masked.

00:24:15.000 That, by the way, is a lot more coherent than what he's saying now.

00:24:21.000 You'll recall the last year, by the way, Joe Biden, it's now been a year since this, Joe Biden said last year, quote, I'm not going to shut down the country.

00:24:29.000 I'm not going to shut down the economy.

00:24:31.000 I'm going to shut down the virus.

00:24:33.000 Oh, really?

00:24:35.000 Then why won't your White House rule out further lockdowns?

00:24:37.000 Yesterday, one of the White House press secretaries came out and explained that the White House would not be ruling out further lockdowns.

00:24:44.000 If scientists come to you at some point down the line and say, it is our opinion that there should be shutdowns and there should be school closures, you would do that?

00:24:52.000 Well, we listen to, like I said, we listen to the CDC and the expert and their guidance.

00:24:59.000 The CDC is a body that is very well respected, and again, we follow their guidance.

00:25:05.000 The CDC is not a body that is well-respected.

00:25:07.000 It is not well-respected by me.

00:25:08.000 It is not well-respected by people who watch the CDC.

00:25:11.000 I do not respect the CDC.

00:25:12.000 They've changed their guidance 1,000 times, not based on good data, but based on this sort of panicked, squirrel-like insistence that every new outlier case is a rationale for public lockdowns and mask mandates without any sort of actual understanding of how the human mind works or how people act.

00:25:29.000 This is madness.

00:25:30.000 It's absolutely crazy.

00:25:32.000 By the way, even the mandates that are now being announced by Biden, even those don't make any sort of internal logical sense.

00:25:38.000 So Joe Biden yesterday announced that federal employees are going to have to get vaccinated or they're going to have to test like every week.

00:25:46.000 So here's what Joe Biden had to say.

00:25:49.000 Every federal government employee will be asked to attest to their vaccination status.

00:25:56.000 Anyone who does not attest Or is not vaccinated, will be required to mask no matter where they work, test one or two times a week to see if they've acquired COVID, socially distance, and generally will not be allowed to travel for work.

00:26:16.000 Okay, so let's just note something.

00:26:18.000 They said that they're gonna be tested like once a week.

00:26:21.000 That's completely ineffective.

00:26:22.000 You test people for COVID once a week, what happens in the intervening week?

00:26:26.000 What if they test negative on Monday, and then they have COVID on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

00:26:33.000 So no, this doesn't make any sense at all.

00:26:36.000 Like, at all.

00:26:37.000 But it's not meant to make sense.

00:26:39.000 It's not meant to be related to reality.

00:26:41.000 It's meant to create a forever reliance on government with no actual end point.

00:26:45.000 I've been saying this for weeks at this point.

00:26:47.000 There is no end goal.

00:26:49.000 There's no end goal. 1.00

00:26:50.000 If your end goal is zero COVID, it's because you're a fool. 0.98

00:26:53.000 No one seriously believes that zero COVID is a serious goal. 0.98

00:26:56.000 It's not.

00:26:58.000 To pretend that zero COVID is reachable or attainable is contra all available science at this point.

00:27:05.000 And yet that seems to be what they're going for.

00:27:07.000 Because obviously we're not worried about overwhelming the hospitals.

00:27:09.000 Nobody's even mentioned that.

00:27:11.000 We're not even worried about getting people availability of the vaccine.

00:27:15.000 All we're worried about right now is this idea that we have to have zero COVID.

00:27:18.000 Zero COVID is not a real goal, but it's the only goal that would make any sense of what they're trying to do right now.

00:27:23.000 Alrighty, so...

00:27:24.000 The Trust Us Brigade is here and they don't actually provide any rationale for what it is that they are doing.

00:27:32.000 As Admiral Brett Giroir said on Fox News yesterday, there's no transparency, there's weak data.

00:27:37.000 Why exactly are we supposed to trust these folks?

00:27:40.000 My major concern is we had a incredibly important policy announcement by the CDC to recommend mask wearing even for those who are vaccinated, but they have supplied zero data, no transparency, no information upon which we can have a debate.

00:27:56.000 Why do you think that is?

00:27:57.000 Why is that?

00:27:57.000 Because I think they don't really have the data or the data are weak.

00:28:01.000 Dr. Walensky said, in rare circumstances, a vaccinated person may transmit.

00:28:07.000 Well, if it's 1%, 0.1%, 0.01%, there's no reason for the mask recommendations, but we don't know because they won't tell us.

00:28:16.000 Dr. Girard is, of course, former Assistant Secretary for Health in the Trump administration.

00:28:21.000 Meanwhile, Another doctor on MSNBC, and this really does, I think, summarize the conflict in the country.

00:28:27.000 This doctor on MSNBC, Dr. Patel, she says that we have to believe Walensky and Fauci.

00:28:33.000 We have to.

00:28:35.000 Right?

00:28:36.000 Or, alternatively, we could check out the data they present, see whether it is weak or strong, and then determine whether they are even recommending anything remotely resembling sensical public policy.

00:28:45.000 But really, this is what it's come down to.

00:28:47.000 We have to trust them.

00:28:48.000 We must.

00:28:50.000 There's no question that CDC is one of the premier authorities on top of data and science, and we have to believe exactly what Dr. Walensky, Dr. Fauci said when they're seeing concerning signs that people who are fully vaccinated are at a risk of transmitting this virus.

00:29:05.000 Not getting sick and dying, but transmitting this, especially to half the country that's unvaccinated.

00:29:10.000 Okay, this is just...

00:29:14.000 All they want is a continuation.

00:29:16.000 That's the only rationale here.

00:29:17.000 They must like the control.

00:29:20.000 They must love it.

00:29:21.000 It's all paternalistic.

00:29:23.000 By the way, I don't think it's any coincidence that Joe Biden has now announced that he wishes Congress to extend the federal eviction moratorium.

00:29:31.000 The CDC put what is probably an illegal moratorium on eviction of tenants.

00:29:36.000 I was not aware that the CDC is anywhere granted legislative power to prevent people from evicting tenants who don't pay their rent.

00:29:43.000 The vaccines have now been widely available since March and April.

00:29:46.000 We still have prevented people from being evicted from their apartments for not paying rent.

00:29:50.000 Now Joe Biden wants that extended.

00:29:52.000 According to the Wall Street Journal, President Biden would have strongly supported a move to further extend the CDC moratorium, scheduled to expire on Saturday.

00:30:00.000 That option is no longer legally viable after a recent Supreme Court ruling the administration said in a statement by Press Secretary Jen Psaki.

00:30:08.000 State and local governments have struggled to distribute $47 billion in federal money aimed at helping tenants who can't pay rent because of the pandemic-triggered downturn, leaving many people at risk of being forced out of their homes when the moratorium expires.

00:30:19.000 Just $3 billion of that aid has even been delivered.

00:30:21.000 Good news, Joe Biden is going to be shoveling more cash out the door, as we're going to discuss in just one moment.

00:30:28.000 But the fact that the Biden administration continuously wants these big spending programs, that they need an excuse for it, they need some sort of lever in order to do all of it, is disquieting.

00:30:38.000 So, the blowback has begun.

00:30:40.000 I think it is a serious blowback.

00:30:41.000 I think that people are really not going to stand for this.

00:30:44.000 In the blue states, they will.

00:30:45.000 Because in the blue states, masking up has been a sign of compliance.

00:30:48.000 It has been a sign that you are the gold star A-plus third grade student who brings an apple to the teacher.

00:30:54.000 Your authorities told you to do something, and you are going to stand and cheer, and you are not going to be the first person to sit down.

00:31:00.000 That is the attitude that seems prevalent in places like Los Angeles County, which, let me remind you, L.A.

00:31:06.000 County has a total of 10 million people living in it, and their seven-day rolling death rate is nine.

00:31:12.000 Is nine.

00:31:13.000 They've masked up the entire county.

00:31:15.000 Again, the same thing is going to happen in New York, where the rolling death rate is in single digits.

00:31:21.000 I guess you're more virtuous.

00:31:23.000 You're just virtuous.

00:31:24.000 The amount of virtue is just incredible.

00:31:26.000 Incredible virtue.

00:31:27.000 Because if you do what your authoritarian leaders tell you to do, well, this means that you're a very, very virtuous person, obviously.

00:31:33.000 Well, the blowback is beginning here.

00:31:35.000 So, in the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi has put forward a mask mandate again, based on nothing. 0.99

00:31:43.000 Last I checked, every single senator in the United States Senate has had the vaccine.

00:31:47.000 When it comes to the House, a bunch of Republicans have apparently not had the vaccine.

00:31:51.000 That's on them.

00:31:53.000 That is their decision.

00:31:54.000 If they wish to bear the consequences of getting COVID and not having a vaccine, that's their problem.

00:31:59.000 Because, again, here's the magic of the vaccine.

00:32:02.000 Once you've had it, you're extremely safe from COVID by all available data, including the new CDC data.

00:32:08.000 Okay, so Nancy Pelosi announced this.

00:32:10.000 A bunch of maskless Republicans were like, fine, arrest us.

00:32:14.000 This is them marching into the House maskless.

00:32:16.000 And Nancy Pelosi, of course, has threatened to arrest them all.

00:32:24.000 Which, of course, is not tin-pot dictator kind of stuff.

00:32:27.000 In any way, shape, or form.

00:32:31.000 Meanwhile, Kevin McCarthy came out and said these standards that Pelosi is promulgating are nonsensical. 1.00

00:32:35.000 She called them a moron. 0.93

00:32:36.000 And then Tim Ryan, the Democrat from Ohio, did one of his usual sort of barn-burning speeches in which he ripped on McCarthy for mocking the magical mask, the most incredible of all masks. 0.99

00:32:48.000 Somebody in this chamber is coming from a hotspot.

00:32:53.000 Somebody represents the hotspots.

00:32:57.000 And they get in a plane, and they fly here, and they interact with all of us.

00:33:01.000 I just find it absolutely immature and appalling to somehow diminish it to try to score cheap political points.

00:33:11.000 And that's exactly what we saw a few minutes ago.

00:33:15.000 That is beneath a minority leader of one of the major political parties in the United States of America.

00:33:22.000 How dare you mock the mask mandate?

00:33:25.000 This mask!

00:33:26.000 This very mask!

00:33:28.000 Okay, let me explain.

00:33:29.000 You know what's gonna protect you?

00:33:31.000 Not the mask.

00:33:32.000 What's gonna protect you is the vaccine.

00:33:35.000 That's what's going to protect you.

00:33:36.000 The vaccine.

00:33:37.000 Doesn't mean masks don't work.

00:33:39.000 We don't know how well they work.

00:33:41.000 End of story.

00:33:42.000 What we do know is that vaccines do work to prevent death.

00:33:47.000 And if you choose not to get it, you're an adult.

00:33:49.000 At one point, like, it really does come down to sort of a... The reason this is broken down left-right is because for so many people on the right, at a certain point, they say, listen, you're an adult.

00:33:59.000 What you do is on you. 1.00

00:34:00.000 And for the left, it's, we think you're a moron and we're going to control everything that you do. 1.00

00:34:05.000 And even if you do what we say, you're a moron, and we're going to control everything you do. 1.00

00:34:08.000 And if you don't do what we say, you're a moron, and we're going to control everything that you do. 1.00

00:34:12.000 And if you're on the right, you're like, listen, now that the solution's available, you're on your own. 1.00

00:34:16.000 Be an adult.

00:34:17.000 Make good decisions, gang.

00:34:19.000 But that is not something the left can ever allow, which is why they are so—they're more adamant to teams this time than they were last time, which is wild.

00:34:28.000 Okay, we'll get to it.

00:34:29.000 So Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, who of course is coming under renewed fire because he has said, we're not doing mask mandates in the state of Florida quite properly.

00:34:37.000 Well, by the way, wildly encouraging vaccines.

00:34:40.000 And I don't know what the media does about this because DeSantis has been extremely pro-vaccine since the very beginning.

00:34:46.000 He was one of the best governors in terms of tranching this thing out to the elderly in the state of Florida. 1.00

00:34:51.000 So here's Ron DeSantis yesterday saying, no, we're not gonna do this Faucian dystopia routine.

00:34:58.000 Floridians are free to choose and all Americans should be free to choose how they govern their affairs, how they take care of themselves and our families, and they should not be consigned to live regardless of which state in the Union Consigned to live in a Fauchian dystopia in which we're governed by the whims of bureaucratic authorities who care little for our freedom, little for our aspirations, and little for our happiness.

00:35:27.000 No more we can't let it happen going forward.

00:35:30.000 This is correct.

00:35:32.000 And that's going to be the choice.

00:35:33.000 Because I have a feeling this is going to continue.

00:35:34.000 I put out a poll yesterday on Twitter. 0.99

00:35:36.000 How long is this crap going to continue? 0.98

00:35:38.000 Because really, there's no end point. 0.99

00:35:40.000 We could be down to one case of COVID in the entire United States, and they will still be saying, mask up, because after all, somebody could get infected.

00:35:45.000 You never know.

00:35:46.000 There's another variant around the corner.

00:35:47.000 So the question is, what is the endpoint?

00:35:49.000 The left has no endpoint.

00:35:51.000 And so this leads me to believe that this is going to be an ongoing issue for the next couple of years. 0.97

00:35:56.000 This leads me to believe that they are never going to let this sucker go.

00:36:00.000 Which really, in the end, means that this will turn into... We'll have an election based on it. 0.85

00:36:05.000 2022 may be based on this.

00:36:07.000 Maybe even 2024.

00:36:08.000 Alrighty, in just a second, we're going to get to the other issue that is going to be coming up in 2022 and 2024, and that is the faltering economy.

00:38:40.000 You're listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.

00:38:43.000 Meanwhile, the Biden administration is struggling because the reality of the Biden administration is they need a successful economy in order to ram through their gigantic spending agenda, at least in popular fashion.

00:39:00.000 Well, the economy is beginning to stagnate.

00:39:03.000 U.S.

00:39:03.000 economy?

00:39:04.000 grew at about 6.5% in Q2.

00:39:06.000 There's only one problem.

00:39:09.000 Virtually all economists thought it was going to grow at 8.5%.

00:39:11.000 And if you recall, just a couple of months ago, they thought it was going to grow in excess of 10%.

00:39:16.000 So it is not growing at the rate that they want it to grow.

00:39:18.000 That's not stopping the media from feigning enthusiasm.

00:39:20.000 You've got CNN Business saying the U.S.

00:39:22.000 economy in the second quarter expanded at a slower rate than expected, but still its fastest pace since last fall, growing at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 6.5%.

00:39:31.000 Their headline, by the way, at CNN Business is, US economy just posted the largest jump in growth since 2020!

00:39:36.000 Yeah, that's not the headline.

00:39:38.000 The headline is not the largest jump in growth since 2020.

00:39:41.000 The headline is, you missed your mark by 25%.

00:39:43.000 In terms of real GDP, the economy has now recovered in that it has grown bigger than its pre-pandemic size.

00:39:50.000 But does anyone feel that the economy is really at that rate?

00:39:53.000 The answer is no, because GDP is being racked up by government spending.

00:39:57.000 It's being held up by the amount of government spending that's being done.

00:40:02.000 The National Bureau of Economic Research designated the pandemic recession as the shortest on record, saying it lasted just two months, March and April of 2020, which is when the shutdowns were.

00:40:12.000 In normal times, says CNN Business, 6.5% growth would be a reason to celebrate.

00:40:16.000 It's still pretty good performance, but it's disappointment compared with the 8.5% growth rate economists had forecast.

00:40:24.000 It was only a little change from the first quarter when the economy grew at an annual rate of 6.3%, which, by the way, is kind of amazing because you'll remember that something happened between the first quarter of this year and the second quarter of this year, namely the mass vaccination of Americans.

00:40:35.000 And yet nothing is changing, which suggests two things.

00:40:38.000 One, the Biden administration's constant drumbeat of doom and gloom with regard to the future of the virus and their unwillingness to acknowledge that the pandemic no longer has public health ramifications.

00:40:48.000 means that people are staying home, and two, when you pay people to stay home and then spend trillions of dollars on nonsensical crap, you end up actually subjecting the U.S.

00:40:58.000 economy to headwinds that it can't fully overcome.

00:41:02.000 According to CNN itself, the acceleration in the recovery was spurred by consumer spending, not least spurred by the last round of stimulus checks, as well as the reopening of the economy and continued vaccination.

00:41:13.000 Consumers spent more on services, particularly on dining out and traveling.

00:41:16.000 Driven by the same dynamics, measures of inflation rose throughout the spring.

00:41:21.000 For example, the price index that tracks personal consumption rose to 6.4% in the second quarter.

00:41:26.000 That was its highest level since 1982.

00:41:30.000 Since 1982.

00:41:31.000 Even if you strip out the more volatile items like food and energy, the price index was at 6.1%.

00:41:36.000 The highest reading since 1983.

00:41:38.000 And here's the thing, the Federal Reserve cannot, they do not have the stones to actually jack up the interest rates in a way necessary to cut down on the inflation.

00:41:46.000 They're not going to do it.

00:41:47.000 Not when the economy is this slow.

00:41:49.000 If the economy is not faster than this, see if the economy really, really, if we were like 8.5% growth or something, then they could say, listen, we're growing super fast.

00:41:57.000 Natural economic recovery is happening.

00:41:58.000 We need to raise the interest rates a little bit to prevent overheating and to prevent price inflation.

00:42:03.000 Instead, because the economy is growing slower than expected, they are going to continue to rack up quantitative easing.

00:42:09.000 They're going to continue to jack money into the economy and keep the interest rates at zero out of fear that they are going to sink Joe Biden's economic record here.

00:42:18.000 Meanwhile, the Democrats are so disconnected from reality that they're worried that Joe Biden isn't spending enough.

00:42:23.000 According to The Hill, Democrats are now warning that any attempts by moderates to pare down a $3.5 trillion spending package could threaten President Biden's top legislative priority and leave the party empty-handed.

00:42:32.000 So Joe Biden wants to get everything done in this budget package.

00:42:35.000 He's got the bipartisan infrastructure bill, the trillion-dollar boondoggle, which is at least better than the $2 trillion boondoggle they were originally proposing.

00:42:44.000 Now, it's a trillion-dollar boondoggle, which still sucks, but is better than the alternative, presumably.

00:42:48.000 Then, they have their giant budget package.

00:42:50.000 That giant budget package, the $3.5 trillion budget package, as you'll recall, has been held up by Kyrsten Sinema in the Senate, as well as Joe Manchin, both of whom look at this and they're saying this is too much money.

00:43:02.000 Now, you've got Democrats in the Senate saying, we're not going to vote for the infrastructure package if you don't vote for the $3.5 trillion package.

00:43:11.000 And not just that, Joe Biden now is saying that he wants immigration reform in the budget package, meaning he wants to legalize some 8 to 10 million illegal immigrants in the United States in the budget reconciliation package.

00:43:24.000 By the way, the parliamentarian hasn't even said if you can do that under budget reconciliation.

00:43:27.000 The answer is probably not, but who the hell knows?

00:43:30.000 Progressive Democrats are sounding the alarm after Kyrsten Sinema warned Wednesday she doesn't support the $3.5 trillion price tag for the expansive package Democrats hope to muscle through.

00:43:38.000 Biden is saying he's basically negotiating with her.

00:43:40.000 He thinks she'll end up voting for it in the end, but they may have to cut a few things.

00:43:44.000 Democrats hope to move the legislation on party lines in the Senate with special budgetary rules, but every Democrat, because there are only 50 of them, every Democrat can hold this thing up with one vote.

00:43:54.000 Progressives are saying they're going to hold up the infrastructure plan unless they get the $3.5 trillion plan.

00:43:59.000 Bernie Sanders said, it's my absolute conviction, you're not going to have a bipartisan bill unless you have a reconciliation bill of $3.5 trillion.

00:44:06.000 So as we discussed yesterday, Joe Biden is now stuck between the progressive rock and the moderate hard place.

00:44:13.000 Right now, the Republicans aren't going to vote in favor of that bipartisan infrastructure plan at all unless the Democrats pare down the $3.5 trillion plan and the progressives won't vote for the bipartisan plan or the budget plan unless they continue to have it at $3.5 trillion.

00:44:30.000 Sanders says he expects the spending plan would be $3.5 trillion in the Senate, maybe even more in the House.

00:44:35.000 And Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut adds that any push to decrease the price tag for the spending package would make it hard to get the votes for it.

00:44:42.000 Man, the Democrats are just cruising for a bruisin' in 2022 on all fronts.

00:44:45.000 Whether we are talking about these authoritarian lockdown measures, Completely nonsensical.

00:44:50.000 Or whether we're talking about the vast spending that is resulting in reduced and tamped down economic growth.

00:44:55.000 They're just cruising for it in 2022.

00:44:58.000 Which is why they're so focused in, as always, on Trump in January 6th.

00:45:01.000 Because 2022 is looking to be an ugly year for them.

00:45:04.000 2024 could be even worse, especially if Kamala Harris is on the ballot. 0.99
