The Ben Shapiro Show

Ep. 180 - Trump Frees His Inner Democrat

Summary

In 2016, Hillary Clinton claimed that Donald Trump's supporters are "deplorables" and "selfish losers" who need government to "solve their problems." She didn't mention that most Americans aren't bitter losers waiting for government to solve their problems. They are independent human beings waiting for a candidate who wants to grant them that independence if any of the elites are actually willing to stand up for them. That's what Hillary Clinton is all about, and that's why she's running for president in 2020, and why she thinks Donald Trump is the best choice for the Democratic Party. Ben Shapiro breaks it down: Most Americans are not bitter clingers or victims, they are independent, self-sufficient human beings who just want to be left out of the political process and have a chance at a better life. Ben Shapiro is the host of the popular podcast "The Ben Shapiro Show" and is a regular contributor to the conservative media outlet The Weekly Standard. 00:00:00.000 So, how many times does the left have to tell Americans what it thinks of them before Americans realize a pretty simple fact?
00:00:05.000 Leftist leaders simply don't like at least half the country.
00:00:09.000 In 2012, the media lost their minds over former Governor Mitt Romney's statement that 47% of Americans, quote, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, would vote for President Obama.
00:00:22.000 This apparently demonstrated Romney hated everyday Americans.
00:00:25.000 Disdained them.
00:00:26.000 Saw them as moochers.
00:00:27.000 In 2008, then-Senator Barack Obama claimed that small-town Americans in the Midwest are benighted hicks.
00:00:33.000 He said it's not surprising they get bitter.
00:00:35.000 They cling to guns, religion, or antipathy toward people who aren't like them.
00:00:38.000 Or anti-immigrant sentiment.
00:00:39.000 Or anti-trade sentiment.
00:00:41.000 As a way to explain their frustrations.
00:00:43.000 This received attention from the conservative press.
00:00:45.000 It was downplayed by the mainstream media or brushed off as basically accurate.
00:00:49.000 This weekend, Hillary Clinton echoed Obama.
00:00:52.000 She said, through her robot cough, quote, And unfortunately, there are people like that.
00:00:56.000 The other half of Trump supporters, Clinton said, are a little bit better.
00:00:58.000 She said that other basket of people
00:01:09.000 Our people who feel the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures.
00:01:16.000 They're just desperate for change.
00:01:18.000 Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well.
00:01:21.000 Clinton's language is actually more telling than Obama's.
00:01:24.000 Democrats routinely see voters they don't understand as morally deficient.
00:01:28.000 This provides them the comforting illusion that disagreement reflects lack of virtue.
00:01:32.000 And that means they don't need actual policies to succeed.
00:01:35.000 Success or failure is completely irrelevant to the ethical question of how to vote.
00:01:39.000 Good people will vote for them regardless of track record.
00:01:41.000 Bad people will oppose them.
00:01:43.000 But Clinton's language goes even further.
00:01:44.000 Where Obama labeled his opponents bad guys, Clinton actually suggests that Romney was right.
00:01:50.000 Those who are her potential supporters are pathetic losers, waiting for government to save them.
00:01:55.000 They're disappointed with the economy, they think the government has to do more, they just need some TLC from Clinton, and then they'll realize Trump isn't the man for them.
00:02:02.000 This means the sneering tone so many people detected in Romney exists among Democrats for their own constituents.
00:02:08.000 Hillary doesn't label her potential voters self-sufficient Americans seeking equal opportunity.
00:02:13.000 No, not at all.
00:02:13.000 They're grievance mongers, ne'er-do-wells, people who believe they're victims, who believe government has an obligation to take care of them.
00:02:19.000 She thinks she can draw them to the Democratic Party.
00:02:22.000 So, where are all the good Americans?
00:02:24.000 To Democrats, they just don't exist.
00:02:26.000 They're the deplorables and the needies, that's it.
00:02:28.000 And the elites who control them.
00:02:29.000 That's the scariest thing about Hillary Clinton's vision for America.
00:02:32.000 Nobody deserves freedom because nobody actually wants freedom.
00:02:36.000 Everyone is either a racist or in need of saving.
00:02:38.000 Everyone needs a cure, either of their soul or their material well-being.
00:02:41.000 And Clinton thinks she can provide that cure by crushing half of Trump's supporters and co-opting the other half.
00:02:46.000 She's only missing one thing.
00:02:48.000 Most Trump supporters, most Americans aren't bitter clingers or victims.
00:02:51.000 They're independent human beings waiting for a candidate who wants to grant them that independence if any of the elites are actually willing to stand up for it.
00:02:57.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.

00:04:14.000 Okay, so, lots to get to today.
00:04:16.000 The Hillary Clinton campaign is in complete disarray.
00:04:18.000 They're looking around and they are figuring they are SCAROUED.
00:04:21.000 They are SCAROUED.
00:04:23.000 They have serious problems.
00:04:24.000 And those problems extend not just to the fact that Hillary Clinton is apparently a victim of the bubonic plague and patient zero in the stand.
00:04:32.000 No, it turns out they have bigger problems than that, and that's everyone knows Hillary Clinton is lying.
00:04:36.000 And this is beginning to reflect itself.
00:04:38.000 In all of the polls.
00:04:39.000 It's now beginning to reflect itself in all of the polls.
00:04:41.000 So, here are some state polls out today.
00:04:43.000 Bloomberg has Trump up five in Ohio.
00:04:46.000 It's huge.
00:04:46.000 Right now Trump is doing well in Florida.
00:04:48.000 Here's the way that this map breaks down.
00:04:51.000 Just think of the map in your head if you have a basic knowledge of American geography.
00:04:54.000 In order for Trump to win, he needs to win Iowa, he needs to win Nevada, and then he needs to hold Arizona, Georgia, Missouri, all the states that Romney held.
00:05:04.000 He needs to win Florida and Ohio.
00:05:06.000 He needs to win North Carolina, and then he needs to win one more state.
00:05:09.000 And that one more state could be Colorado, it could be Wisconsin, it could be Michigan, it could be Pennsylvania, it could be New Hampshire.
00:05:14.000 Right now, Trump is leading in Ohio, according to the latest poll.
00:05:17.000 He's leading in Florida, according to the latest poll.
00:05:20.000 There are a couple different polls in North Carolina, so it's hard to tell where that one comes down.
00:05:24.000 He is leading in Colorado, according to a Reuters poll today.
00:05:27.000 If he wins North Carolina,
00:05:29.000 He wins Colorado, Florida, and if he wins Ohio, then he wins the election.
00:05:34.000 He wins well over 270 votes and he wins the election.
00:05:37.000 So suddenly this is a very, very competitive election, and it's all because Hillary Clinton cannot stop herself from lying pathologically.
00:05:43.000 That's really all it comes down to.
00:05:45.000 She cannot stop herself under any circumstances from lying pathologically.
00:05:49.000 And so what you got now is Democrats whistling past the graveyard, trying to figure out how they spin this thing.
00:05:54.000 The American public, 50% of Americans think Hillary is lying about her health.
00:05:58.000 A large plurality of Americans think she's in poor health and that she's lying about it.
00:06:02.000 So the Democrats are trying to figure out how to combat this.
00:06:05.000 So David Plouffe, David Plouffe, who's a Democratic advisor, he has an idea.
00:06:09.000 He says, well, if we're calling Hillary unhealthy, let's call Trump unhealthy.
00:06:13.000 And let's talk about medical records, by the way.
00:06:15.000 So here's Trump, who, you know, Dr. Feelgood put out a one-page letter.
00:06:19.000 He's 70, okay?
00:06:21.000 He's the heaviest president we've had a candidate since William Taft.
00:06:25.000 There's legitimate issues, so, you know... You think his weight is a health challenge that he should answer?
00:06:31.000 Well, my point is, I think Clinton's gonna put out more medical information this week.
00:06:35.000 She should, you know?
00:06:37.000 Every candidate should.
00:06:38.000 Okay, she should.
00:06:39.000 Every candidate should.
00:06:39.000 But Trump is the fat one.
00:06:41.000 Trump is the fat one.
00:06:42.000 So David Bluth is very upset with Donald Trump being fat.
00:06:47.000 Okay, this is what we call the pot calling the kettle black, because Hillary Clinton has some weight problems of her own.
00:06:54.000 She actually looks like the Egyptian pyramids.
00:06:56.000 But the Democrats are getting desperate, so they're throwing everything against the wall.
00:06:59.000 You got Nancy Pelosi out front saying that Donald Trump is the gift that keeps on giving, except for the fact that Trump actually stopped giving gifts to the Democrats about the time Kellyanne Conway joined his campaign.
00:07:08.000 Donald Trump's changed all of that, hasn't he?
00:07:11.000 Well, he is a gift that keeps on giving every day that he says something.
00:07:14.000 It helps us mobilize at the grassroots level, raise money, message a difference between the two parties.
00:07:22.000 So he's been good.
00:07:23.000 But here's the thing.
00:07:25.000 Don't get too carried away by the redistricting.
00:07:28.000 When we took the House in 2006, which
00:07:30.000 We're good to go.
00:07:51.000 And Brian Stelter was trying to claim the same thing.
00:07:53.000 The media's even-handed.
00:07:54.000 Of course, I sort of shellacked Stelter over this because it just isn't true.
00:07:58.000 Huffington Post actually prints a little note below all of their stories.
00:08:01.000 Originally, they only covered him in the entertainment section.
00:08:04.000 Then they realized they had to cover him as news.
00:08:05.000 So now there's a little note after every Huffington Post story that says, Donald Trump is a xenophobe and a racist who hates everybody, right?
00:08:11.000 Really, this is a note that's actually on the stories from the Huffington Post, CNN, MSNBC.
00:08:16.000 They run chyrons that try to debunk Trump in real time.
00:08:18.000 They've never tried to do that with Hillary Clinton.
00:08:21.000 It's not that the media know how to handle Trump.
00:08:22.000 They don't.
00:08:23.000 Because Trump is very hard to handle for the media because he takes a position, he takes at least 10 positions on every given issue, which makes it hard for them to cover him.
00:08:31.000 But the media are certainly unfair to Trump.
00:08:33.000 They're always looking for something to get him on.
00:08:35.000 CNN was a perfect example this week with the Wolf Blitzer attempted hit on David Duke.
00:08:39.000 But President Obama, he's so desperate at this point that he's saying, he's saying the media are losing this for Hillary Clinton.
00:08:46.000 Our standards for what's normal have changed.
00:08:51.000 And Donald Trump says stuff every day that used to be considered as disqualifying for being president.
00:09:02.000 And yet, because he says it over and over and over again, the press just gives up.
00:09:09.000 And they just say, well, yeah, you know, okay.
00:09:14.000 Okay, so President Obama thinks the press is in favor of suddenly Donald Trump.
00:09:19.000 Okay, nobody has ever gotten better press than President Obama.
00:09:21.000 The man has just had worshipful coverage from the media for years and that's how he can get away with just outright ridiculous crap like this.
00:09:28.000 Yesterday he was campaigning for Hillary and he drops this whopper.
00:09:31.000 This is a big deal.
00:09:33.000 More Americans are working.
00:09:35.000 More have health insurance.
00:09:37.000 Incomes are rising.
00:09:38.000 Poverty is falling.
00:09:42.000 And Kes, gas is $2 a gallon.
00:09:43.000 I didn't even... Yeah, I'm pointing to all you out there.
00:09:48.000 All you people I tried to stop from drilling.
00:09:50.000 Thank you for reminding me.
00:09:51.000 Yeah, okay.
00:09:52.000 Thank you for reminding me.
00:09:53.000 Gas is $2 a gallon.
00:09:53.000 Thanks, Obama.
00:09:55.000 All right, so President Obama's thanking himself because President Obama loves that dude.
00:09:58.000 I mean, there's nobody who loves President Obama more than President Obama, except for the press.
00:10:03.000 Did the press fact-check this?
00:10:04.000 Did the press say, well, the reason that it's under $2 a gallon right now is because the Saudis have been pumping like crazy to try and drive down the price of oil and kill the Iranian economy, and also because fracking was the only thing that created jobs during your entire tenure, basically?
00:10:17.000 No, they don't fact-check that, but the Democrats are getting desperate.
00:10:20.000 They're so desperate that Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC, who hates Donald Trump, I mean, despises Donald Trump,
00:10:25.000 And Lawrence O'Donnell says the media are compliant with Trump.
00:10:27.000 I mean, except for him, you know, except for him and his entire network.
00:10:30.000 They're all compliant with Trump, of course.
00:10:32.000 If the news media treated the Trump campaign the way it has treated every presidential campaign prior to Trump and the other presidential campaign that is going on during the Trump campaign, the Clinton campaign, if the news media treated the Trump campaign like
00:10:48.000 I think?
00:11:08.000 With 55 days left before the election, the American political news media still has not figured out how to deal with the Trump for President campaign, and Donald Trump knows that, and he exploits it every single day.
00:11:21.000 Okay, so here's the truth about the media and Trump.
00:11:24.000 I agree that the standard has been lowered for Trump in the sense that he's not being held to the same standard as Romney, but politicians are almost always judged on their own standard, meaning that there's kind of the normal Trump that we're used to, and then there's outrageous Trump.
00:11:36.000 And when it's normal Trump, the media has a hard time calling it outrageous because they've already—he's set the bar somewhere else.
00:11:41.000 The bar for Trump—the bar for Romney was here, and Romney came in here.
00:11:45.000 The bar for Trump is here, and he's coming in here.
00:11:47.000 So because he's a little bit higher, he's exceeding his own bar, the bar that we set for him.
00:11:51.000 And we all do this in our individual lives, right?
00:11:53.000 We know people who we think are just utter crap shows of human beings, and if they hold down a steady job, that's a big win for them.
00:11:59.000 And then we know people who are high-achieving bankers, and if they buy the wrong car, we think that's a bad mistake.
00:12:05.000 We all have our different standards for people.
00:12:07.000 The media are just people, so they have that standard for Trump.
00:12:09.000 But the idea that the media are treating Trump with kid gloves is absolutely laughable.
00:12:12.000 The media don't know what to do about this.
00:12:14.000 They're hoping that they can save Hillary Clinton.
00:12:16.000 This is why when Matt Lauer grilled Hillary and then grilled Trump, they got very angry at Matt Lauer for having not grilled Trump harshly enough.
00:12:23.000 They know they can't grill Lauer for being too harsh on Hillary, so instead they just say that Matt Lauer wasn't mean enough to Donald Trump.
00:12:28.000 So this is the routine that they're going to play now, is that the media themselves are trying to make Trump win, which is just
00:12:33.000 Asinine and ridiculous.
00:12:35.000 Okay, with all of that said, Donald Trump now has an opportunity.
00:12:39.000 He has an opportunity to present his health records.
00:12:42.000 So today, he was on Dr. Oz, and there's a bit of confusion leading up to his appearance on Dr. Oz.
00:12:47.000 Was he going to hand over his health records?
00:12:49.000 Was he not going to hand over his health records?
00:12:50.000 Kellyanne Conway was on TV yesterday saying that he's not going to hand over his health records.
00:12:55.000 Well, you can laugh all you want at the medical report, but as far as I can see, there are two major party candidates running for president, and only one of them has pneumonia and lied about it, especially to the press, because she always thinks that she has.
00:13:06.000 She treats you all like second-class citizens, won't have a press conference, and when she pretends to have a press avail, I'm going to be uplifting and aspirational now, then goes on to attack tens of millions of Americans the very next day.
00:13:18.000 And then we all saw her by the van.
00:13:22.000 But Allison, this is what I expect from the Clinton campaign.
00:13:25.000 I really don't expect it from journalists.
00:13:28.000 We're talking about Hillary Clinton and her pneumonia and what happened on 9-11, which we all saw with our own two eyes.
00:13:34.000 And it takes us about ten words to get to Donald Trump.
00:13:37.000 Okay, so she's right about the double standard, but, you know, trying to walk back, we're not going to release Donald Trump's medical records, that's silly to us.
00:13:45.000 So apparently, Trump was fibbing, so apparently today on Dr. Oz, the interview is going to air tomorrow, they didn't release a summary of the results, but he did actually bring in a one-page summary of his physical conducted last week, which is different than the original announcement, which is that he was going to actually hand over his entire physical to Dr. Oz and then have Dr. Oz analyze it.
00:14:03.000 Not to say I don't trust Trump on his physical health, but I don't trust Trump on anything, just like I don't trust Hillary on anything.
00:14:08.000 So if he provided a one-page summary, I don't see why that's significantly better than Hillary providing a letter to the media.
00:14:14.000 I'd like to see a full physical workup on both of these candidates.
00:14:17.000 I don't think that that's utterly unreasonable.
00:14:20.000 Well, this brings us, unfortunately, to the end of Facebook Live, but over at dailywired.com, over at dailywired.com, you can still subscribe.
00:14:27.000 I do want to mention, by the way, that we have a sponsor, U.S.

00:14:32.000 U.S.
00:14:32.000 Tax Shield does have an A-plus rating with the Better Business Bureau.
00:14:34.000 If you have problems with the IRS, if you have issues with the IRS, if you're somebody who has had run-ins with the IRS in the past, you need to talk to my friends over at U.S.
00:14:42.000 Tax Shield.

00:15:11.000 I think so.
00:15:33.000 Get to Donald Trump on maternity leave, which I think is the most important news of the day, actually.
00:15:37.000 But we'll talk about that.
00:15:38.000 So you can go to dailywire.com to subscribe and you can continue to watch the show live.
00:15:42.000 It continues right on as though nothing ever happened.
00:15:45.000 But if you don't subscribe to dailywire.com, then as Andrew Klavan is apt to say, you'll be plunged into the exterior darkness and you'll collapse in on yourself like a black hole and suck the rest of the universe in with you.
00:15:56.000 Enough of a threat to get eight bucks out of your pocket a month.
00:15:58.000 I don't know what is.
00:15:59.000 Dailywire.com to do that, or if you just want to listen to the show later, iTunes or SoundCloud is the best place to do that.
00:16:05.000 Alrighty.
00:16:12.000 Okay, so, Donald Trump releases some of his health records.
00:16:15.000 Okay, all of that is good.
00:16:16.000 So, it's time for our daily episode, thank you to Brandon Snipes, of Good Trump, Bad Trump.
00:16:29.000 All right, so, Donald Trump.
00:16:31.000 Good Trump is Donald Trump clip sticks.
00:16:33.000 Here's Donald Trump going after Hillary Clinton.
00:16:35.000 This is the kind of Trump that we like.
00:16:38.000 Anyone watching today's hearing in Congress knows that Hillary Clinton's actions are far more corrupt than we ever imagined.
00:16:46.000 It's happened today.
00:16:48.000 This is far bigger and a far bigger scandal than Watergate ever was.
00:16:54.000 But with Watergate,
00:16:56.000 We had justice.
00:16:57.000 We had a justice department that went after the people.
00:17:02.000 Here's something that just nobody's ever seen anything like this, folks.
00:17:05.000 What we're witnessing is a first.
00:17:07.000 We've never, ever seen anything like this.
00:17:11.000 Okay, this is all true, and this is all right.
00:17:13.000 Okay, then there's the actual big story of yesterday.
00:17:16.000 I have been claiming, for virtually this entire election cycle, that as Donald Trump rolls his campaign forward, as Donald Trump moves forward, what we are going to see, what we are going to see here, is a perversion of conservatism into Trumpism.
00:17:30.000 We talked about this a little bit yesterday with regard to Vladimir Putin, we talked about it on Monday with regard to Vladimir Putin, and also with regard to free trade.
00:17:36.000 Today is the best example of this that I know.
00:17:38.000 Donald Trump gives this ridiculous, ridiculous speech on maternity leave.
00:17:43.000 And this is absolutely bad drama.
00:17:44.000 So, Donald Trump is, as we all know, down deep in the cockles of his heart, a Blue Dog Democrat.
00:17:50.000 He's sort of a Dick Gephardt Democrat.
00:17:52.000 And Donald Trump gets up there with Ivanka.
00:17:55.000 Ivanka, as you recall, she was at the RNC, and at the RNC she said that she wanted paid maternity leave.
00:17:59.000 Now, as Donald Trump starts to do well in the polls, he's gonna start to get more and more lefty in an attempt to drag away Democratic voters, but also because he actually believes this stuff.
00:18:07.000 And what's amazing, and we'll get to this, is how many conservatives
00:18:10.000 I'm going right along with him.
00:18:12.000 They're going right along with him, because after all, we must defeat Hillary.
00:18:14.000 So that means we can't say a bad word about Trump.
00:18:16.000 We can't say word one about Trump.
00:18:18.000 We can't say that his policy is bad.
00:18:19.000 We can't say that his maternity leave policy is bad.
00:18:21.000 We'll analyze the policy, but I want to start with this.
00:18:23.000 Ivanka Trump gives the intro to Donald Trump's speech.
00:18:27.000 Ivanka is not a registered Republican.
00:18:29.000 She at least wasn't when it was time for the New York primary.
00:18:31.000 She couldn't even vote for her father in the New York primary because she wasn't a registered Republican.
00:18:36.000 Now, of course, she's the great goddess of the Republican Party because she's related to Trump.
00:18:40.000 So he brings out his daughter to tell the wonderful story about why he's going to back paid maternity leave, which is a Democrat policy.
00:18:51.000 Here is Ivanka going full Chelsea Clinton and people just cheering along.
00:18:56.000 A few years ago, I read about a single mother facing homelessness whose child care arrangement failed during the morning of a final job interview.
00:19:06.000 Out of options, she made the tragic choice to leave her young children in a hard-caught car while she attempted to secure the job in order to better the life of her family.
00:19:17.000 She returned to the parking lot following the interview to find her vehicle surrounded by the police.
00:19:22.000 We're good to go.
00:19:42.000 Okay, take the pretty face off of this and stick Bernie Sanders' head on that, and that's Bernie Sanders.
00:19:47.000 Right?
00:19:48.000 There was a story of a woman, and she was very, very poor, and she could not afford healthcare or childcare.
00:19:54.000 She had to go in for a job interview, and she left her child in the car where the child melted into a puddle of goo.
00:20:00.000 A puddle of goo.
00:20:01.000 And that's why we need communism.
00:20:04.000 Okay, that's Ivanka Trump.
00:20:06.000 That's what she just said.
00:20:07.000 That's what she just did.
00:20:08.000 She says there's this single—what a victim this woman is.
00:20:11.000 What a victim this woman is.
00:20:12.000 Okay, I have two young kids.
00:20:13.000 Two young kids under the age of three.
00:20:15.000 Every afternoon, 4.30, 5 o'clock, the nanny goes home, and I take care of the kids.
00:20:18.000 My wife is on residency, which means very often she's not home until 9 or 10 o'clock at night.
00:20:22.000 So that means I've got the kids for three hours.
00:20:24.000 Have I ever left the kid in a hot car because I have to do something?
00:20:27.000 If I have to go do something, you know what I do?
00:20:30.000 I get my dad or my mom to come over and help out.
00:20:32.000 You know what I do?
00:20:33.000 I find a friend who can help babysit.
00:20:35.000 The idea that anyone in America is forced to leave a child in a hot car—for God's sake, crack a window, lady.
00:20:39.000 I mean, really?
00:20:41.000 She was forced to leave a kid in the hot car?
00:20:43.000 This is the same routine we get from the left routinely about why we need school lunch programs, because parents are too poor to afford the $2 that it would take to buy a week's worth of oatmeal at the supermarket.
00:20:53.000 It's just utter crap.
00:20:55.000 It's utter lefty crap, this nonsense.
00:20:57.000 Parents make bad decisions, therefore it's my fault?
00:20:59.000 It's the fault of the government?
00:21:00.000 It's the fault of the government?
00:21:01.000 No, it's the fault of the stupid parent who decides that it's important to leave her small child in the car.
00:21:05.000 By the way, where's Daddy?
00:21:07.000 Where's Daddy?
00:21:07.000 I mean, I assume in this story Daddy isn't present because this is another one of the children who's stuck in a bad situation because Mommy decided to get pregnant out of wedlock and Daddy decided to be a jackass and take off on Mommy.
00:21:18.000 But that's my fault.
00:21:19.000 I gotta pay for it.
00:21:20.000 So I pay a nanny.
00:21:21.000 I take care of my kids.
00:21:22.000 But now I'm supposed to pay for this lady's childcare and her maternity leave.
00:21:26.000 By the way, I'm not sure how maternity leave policy would actually cover this.
00:21:29.000 Okay, so, she leads off with that, and then Ivanka says, Hillary Clinton hasn't even had a family leave policy, which, by the way, is not true, but here is Ivanka saying that.
00:21:37.000 Why not also deal with paternity leave?
00:21:40.000 Why did you not include fathers in the plan?
00:21:42.000 Well, I think we took a giant leap forward with the plan and, you know, respectfully, Hillary Clinton has been around for decades and there's no policy benefiting either mothers or fathers in terms of paid leave.
00:21:54.000 So I think the fact that we are advocating for this and advocating it for it so strongly and taking leadership on this issue is testament in itself to our thoughts on the subject.
00:22:05.000 But certainly she had opportunity to have a concept like that.
00:22:09.000 For the record, as she's running though on her website, she is guaranteeing up to 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave to care for a new child or a seriously ill family member.
00:22:18.000 We have not been in public office for the last several decades and she has.
00:22:22.000 So she could have instituted some of those policies in that role and has not done so.
00:22:28.000 Okay, so what's amazing about this is that she's asked about paternity leave, and she basically says, we're doing our best, we'll get to it, right?
00:22:33.000 She's a Democrat.
00:22:34.000 She's a Democrat.
00:22:35.000 So Trump does this routine yesterday.
00:22:37.000 He rolls out this maternity leave plan, and here's Donald Trump talking about the maternity leave plan, which is straight from the Democrat playbook.
00:22:44.000 Paul Ryan came out and said this has nothing to do with Republicanism, but it doesn't matter.
00:22:47.000 There's Ivanka Trump standing next to him, apparently pulling Donald Trump's strings like a giant fat marionette.
00:22:53.000 The first part of my child care plan allows for every parent or family in America, including adoptive parents and foster parent guardians, to deduct their child care expenses from their income taxes.
00:23:08.000 That's a first.
00:23:17.000 I see the women who I just met in the front row are very happy about that.
00:23:22.000 They will fully be able to deduct the average cost of child care for their state from birth through the age of 13.
00:23:31.000 Because of the way the benefit is capped and structured, our plan will bring relief to working and middle class families.
00:23:38.000 The deduction also applies to elder care capped at $5,000 deduction per year.
00:23:43.000 $5,000 deduction.
00:23:48.000 Importantly, our policy also supports mothers who choose to stay at home and honors and recognizes their incredible contributions to their families and to our society.
00:23:59.000 You can pause it right there for a second.
00:24:04.000 So let me explain why this is stupid.
00:24:05.000 So, I don't believe in deductions, in tax deductions.
00:24:09.000 I believe in a flat tax rate.
00:24:10.000 I don't think it's the government's business to tell me which expenditures are better than other expenditures.
00:24:15.000 We're good.
00:24:35.000 Tax deductions
00:24:54.000 I'm a parent of two, but I make over the legal limit that Trump is talking about, which means I have to pay for my own health care.
00:25:00.000 I don't get a deduction, which means that I'm basically subsidizing a single mother so that she can get childcare.
00:25:05.000 So it's a redistributionist scheme.
00:25:06.000 And the way that they play this is though it's a tax giveaway, it's not a tax giveaway.
00:25:11.000 As we're about to learn from Donald Trump momentarily, what he's really talking about is giving money away to people who are too poor to pay taxes in the first place.
00:25:18.000 So it's a welfare program.
00:25:19.000 He continues along.
00:25:20.000 Here's the welfare portion of what he's talking about.
00:25:29.000 Families with a stay-at-home parent will be able to fully deduct the average cost of child care from their taxes.
00:25:37.000 It's a big thing.
00:25:42.000 Wow.
00:25:44.000 I'm hearing wow.
00:25:47.000 The congresswomen like to hear wow.
00:25:50.000 Makes your life a lot easier, right?
00:25:53.000 For low-income individuals who have no net income tax liability, we will offer an expanded earned income tax credit, that's EITC, in the form of a child care rebate.
00:26:11.000 Working parents can get an expanded EITC benefit that equals up to half of their total payroll tax, a major relief for low-income parents.
00:26:22.000 Low-income parents have it tougher than anybody.
00:26:25.000 This translates to as much as an extra $1,200 in EITC benefits for working families.
00:26:35.000 Stop it there.
00:26:35.000 That's a welfare program.
00:26:36.000 What he's talking about there is a welfare program.
00:26:38.000 The earned income tax credit applies to people who don't pay enough in federal income tax to actually receive anything, so instead they just get a check from the federal government because they don't make a lot of money and they have kids.
00:26:47.000 That's a welfare program that he's talking about, and it's a new welfare program he's talking about instituting.
00:26:53.000 Make no mistake, this has nothing to do with conservatism.
00:26:55.000 This is straight from the Hillary Clinton playbook.
00:26:56.000 She just wants a larger tax quote-unquote refund to poor people than Trump does, but he's obviously working from the Democratic playbook, and there's Ivanka, the person who is clearly a Democrat who hangs out with Chelsea Clinton, sitting in the background clapping.
00:27:10.000 But we'll continue.
00:27:10.000 I want to go all the way through this program so you know what it actually is, because here's the thing, and we'll talk about this in a second.
00:27:16.000 Today, you're going to hear from three groups of people.
00:27:18.000 Three groups of people on the right.
00:27:19.000 You're going to hear from people like me, people like Mark Levin, who are honest about this proposal and recognize it for what it is, which is a lefty proposal coming from a guy who's not conservative.
00:27:28.000 Right?
00:27:28.000 That's what you're going to hear from the people who are honest about this.
00:27:30.000 Even people who vote for Trump, you can acknowledge this is not a good proposal.
00:27:34.000 It's a Democrat proposal.
00:27:35.000 Donald Trump is not a conservative.
00:27:36.000 You can still say, yes, but he's not Hillary Clinton.
00:27:39.000 That's fine.
00:27:40.000 That can be your logic, but that's group number one are the people who actually say what's true.
00:27:44.000 This is a bad proposal.
00:27:45.000 Then there's group number two, the people who are going to pretend it just doesn't exist.
00:27:48.000 The people who pretend it doesn't exist or refuse to comment on it in any real way.
00:27:53.000 And that's most of the radio hosts out there, most of the TV hosts out there.
00:27:56.000 They're either going to just ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist.
00:27:59.000 They're just going to say, OK, well, let's talk about Colin Powell's emails, about Hillary Clinton.
00:28:03.000 We'll talk about Hillary's health.
00:28:05.000 We just won't touch this with a 10-foot pole.
00:28:07.000 Or if we do touch it, we'll talk about how really what this is is just Donald Trump reaching out to the Democrats so he can win an election, but we won't talk about the content of the policy and what it means for Donald Trump's view of the world.
00:28:18.000 We won't do that.
00:28:18.000 So those are people who are obviously trying to shill for Trump, but they don't want to be too loud about it.
00:28:22.000 And then finally, you'll get the people who are the most honest and also the most dishonest.
00:28:26.000 You'll get the people who actually flip their position on a dime and now support this kind of crap because Donald Trump is saying it.
00:28:32.000 Okay, so those latter two groups I talk about when I talk about the perversion of conservatism that's happening under Trump and which will accelerate if he is president of the United States.
00:28:40.000 Let's continue with Trump's plan.
00:28:42.000 Next.
00:28:46.000 Our plan allows every parent in America to open up a dependent care savings account.
00:28:54.000 Families can contribute up to $2,000 a year to these accounts completely tax-free.
00:29:07.000 She's very happy about this.
00:29:09.000 Banca is very happy about this.
00:29:11.000 Crucially, unlike the flexible spending accounts that exist today, these accounts will be available to all Americans.
00:29:19.000 You won't have to depend on your employer to provide them.
00:29:23.000 Immediate family and employers, and this is like right away,
00:29:28.000 He's along these lines and what he says here, this dependent savings account, basically what this means is you can stick some money in a bank and the government won't tax it.
00:29:40.000 It's another tax loophole or deduction, whichever you choose to call it.
00:29:43.000 And then finally, he finishes that if you're poor, the federal government will provide matching funds.
00:29:47.000 So if you contribute $1,000, then the feds will give a $500 match.
00:29:51.000 This, again, is a welfare program.
00:29:53.000 He says, to help low-income families reach these targets and save money, we'll put a box on federal income tax forms allowing parents to have their earned income tax credit funds directly deposited into these dependent care savings accounts.
00:30:05.000 Which, I don't know why they would do that, as opposed to just taking the money and spending it on whatever they're gonna spend it on.
00:30:10.000 I do love the line there where he says, this makes Ivanka so happy.
00:30:12.000 Like, I give a crap what makes Ivanka so happy.
00:30:15.000 Why would I possibly care what makes Ivanka so happy?
00:30:17.000 She doesn't believe any of the things that I believe.
00:30:19.000 Why would I possibly care about that?
00:30:21.000 Okay, Trump, after he does this proposal, he's on with his good buddy Sean Hannity, and he says that he's felt very strongly about this issue.
00:30:27.000 It isn't just him pandering, it's he feels very strongly about this issue for a long time.
00:30:32.000 Well, it's true.
00:30:33.000 During the time that I've been running, and especially lately since the polls have been so good and people are saying, wow, this could really happen, I've been just inundated with so many women and families that have asked me to do something having to do with child care.
00:30:46.000 And I felt this for a long time, but I guess maybe we weren't quite in the same position we're in right now.
00:30:51.000 And my daughter has felt so strongly, and she's been talking to me about it for
00:30:55.000 A long period of time.
00:30:56.000 Long before the campaign started, let me tell you.
00:30:59.000 She always felt it was unfair.
00:31:00.000 Stop it right there.
00:31:00.000 There's something very telling that he just said that everyone's gonna gloss right over.
00:31:03.000 Okay, the thing that he's telling that he just said is he said, I felt this way for a long time.
00:31:07.000 We weren't in the position before to do that.
00:31:10.000 What position is he talking about?
00:31:12.000 What position is he talking about?
00:31:14.000 If he's talking about he was losing the race before, so he couldn't say this, then he assumes this is an unpopular proposal.
00:31:19.000 But that's not what he means.
00:31:21.000 What he means is, we weren't in the position to say this before because I was trying to consolidate conservative support.
00:31:26.000 But now that I am free to appeal to the other side, I will do so.
00:31:30.000 What that means is what he's always said.
00:31:32.000 As soon as he is President of the United States, he will immediately begin cutting deals with Democrats.
00:31:36.000 Okay?
00:31:36.000 That's what he's going to do.
00:31:38.000 And I love the fact that Sean Hannity just sits there and nods his way through the interview because the show really has become Trump starring Sean Hannity as opposed to the Sean Hannity show with special guest Trump.
00:31:47.000 I mean, Trump's on basically every night spitting out his talking points.
00:31:51.000 Okay, so this is the part that really bugs me about this.
00:31:53.000 I've known who Trump is for a long time.
00:31:56.000 I've said who Trump is ad infinitum, ad nauseam on this particular show.
00:32:00.000 But the bigger problem that I have is this Conservatives for Trumpism movement that's actually begun, this attempt to spin Trumpism into the box of conservatism.
00:32:09.000 So watch Newt Gingrich, who used to be an actual conservative, talk about how Trump is really just, he's the greatest person who ever, ever, ever lived.
00:32:17.000 You know, Newt Gingrich, the bowling ball of personality and narcissism, out there talking about how Donald Trump is a mashup, he really says this, a mashup of Churchill and Thatcher.
00:32:28.000 Well then why do we need him now?
00:32:29.000 Because you need a larger credit, particularly for the working poor, and I think it's a very serious effort.
00:32:36.000 Look, he represents the same tradition of conservatism as Churchill and Thatcher in Great Britain.
00:32:42.000 Thatcher was not somebody who walked in there and said, let's wipe out everything.
00:32:46.000 She was very tough, and then she privatized things like the telephone system, but she also understood that... So what happens?
00:32:56.000 So this ends, Trump either wins or loses.
00:32:58.000 Your view is that everything is... My view is that the world has changed dramatically, and that you are going to see a permanent upsurge against Washington government.
00:33:07.000 You're going to see a permanent rebellious attitude.
00:33:10.000 I mean, this whole turning deplorables around into the opposite is something which
00:33:16.000 A lot of traditional intellectual Republicans don't understand.
00:33:19.000 So stupid.
00:33:19.000 I can't even listen to this.
00:33:20.000 I can't even listen to the idiocy.
00:33:22.000 Stop it.
00:33:22.000 I can't listen to this, the gaseous nincompoopery spouting from his ears.
00:33:29.000 I mean, this is such crap.
00:33:31.000 He's finally asked, okay, so this is a lefty policy, right?
00:33:33.000 And he says, well, this is just an upsurge against the Washington establishment.
00:33:36.000 Newt Gingrich is the Washington establishment.
00:33:39.000 Donald Trump is supported by Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan and the entire RNC, including Reince Priebus.
00:33:43.000 They are the Washington establishment.
00:33:45.000 These are people who are pushing an expansion of the earned income tax credit ten years ago.
00:33:50.000 The idea that this is some sort of rebellion against the Washington elite, this is the great irony of this whole stupid election cycle.
00:33:56.000 The great irony is, you have all these people who consider themselves so conservative they're angry at Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan for caving to Obama.
00:34:02.000 So apparently all Obama had to do is call himself a Republican and people just flip, boom, and then all of a sudden all of Obama's policies become okay.
00:34:08.000 It's absolutely maddening.
00:34:10.000 It's absolutely maddening.
00:34:11.000 No, Donald Trump does not represent the same tradition of conservatism as Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher.
00:34:17.000 I don't remember Winston Churchill talking up the great benefits of Stalin.
00:34:21.000 He allied with Stalin to defeat Hitler and then spent the rest of his career trying to talk about the evils of the Iron Curtain.
00:34:26.000 I don't remember Margaret Thatcher talking about the expansion of government.
00:34:30.000 Margaret Thatcher denationalized a bevy of domestic industries.
00:34:35.000 This is just crap, and it's spouting from the Republicans like it's water.
00:34:39.000 I'm just saying, whatever comes to mind, because they have to defend Trump, and in their ardency for Donald Trump, they're willing to sacrifice whatever supposed principles they had.
00:34:46.000 This is the stuff that makes me not want to vote for Trump.
00:34:49.000 This is it.
00:34:50.000 This is because I think that this is not just going to continue.
00:34:52.000 I think it's going to accentuate under a Donald Trump presidency.
00:34:55.000 I'm not voting for Hillary Clinton because Hillary Clinton is an evil, pathological liar.
00:34:58.000 I'm not voting for Donald Trump because of people like Newt Gingrich and people like Laura Ingraham and this whole group of people who are going to go along and flip every element of conservatism on its head because Trump is the great god king because conservatism has failed.
00:35:11.000 I'm so sick of that nonsense.
00:35:12.000 Conservatism has failed.
00:35:13.000 Conservatism doesn't fail because it's true.
00:35:17.000 The only thing that's failed is the people attempting to apply conservatism.
00:35:20.000 Marxism doesn't describe a deeper truth to the universe.
00:35:23.000 Conservatism is about personal responsibility and limited government, and those things don't fail unless you fail.
00:35:29.000 Conservatism only fails if you fail to take advantage of the opportunities and choices provided to you.
00:35:34.000 But from the Gingrich crowd, from the Trump crowd, it's, oh, conservatism failed, it's time for a nationalist-populist consortium that's gonna come along and provide you the great good of government that's gonna fix all your life problems.
00:35:44.000 Guess what?
00:35:44.000 It ain't gonna happen.
00:35:45.000 We've tried it with Democrats.
00:35:46.000 There's this whole nonsense where they pretend that Donald Trump's version of leftism is better than Hillary Clinton's version of leftism, or that it's better than conservatism itself.
00:35:55.000 No, it isn't.
00:35:56.000 It's just watered-down Hillary care.
00:35:57.000 That's all this crap is.
00:35:59.000 But you're seeing this on all sides.
00:36:00.000 And my favorite example of this, actually, is A.J.
00:36:02.000 Delgado.
00:36:02.000 So, A.J.
00:36:03.000 Delgado—let me put a clip of her yesterday.
00:36:05.000 She's a smart gal.
00:36:07.000 I think she went to Harvard Law School.
00:36:09.000 And A.J.
00:36:09.000 Delgado is a writer for Breitbart.
00:36:11.000 And A.J.
00:36:12.000 Delgado—these were her tweets about maternity leave, OK?
00:36:17.000 This is from April 2014.
00:36:18.000 Quote, the government should not force employers to pay you while you take two months off maternity or paternity leave.
00:36:24.000 It was your decision.
00:36:25.000 Plan around it.
00:36:26.000 Same day.
00:36:27.000 That New York Post article last month rightly criticizing Gwyneth Paltrow now turns into a liberal call for the government to mandate paid maternity leave.
00:36:35.000 January 28, 2014.
00:36:36.000 Are we talking about mandating employers providing maternity leave and paternity leave?
00:36:41.000 Oh God, we've officially turned in to France.
00:36:45.000 Right, that's, that's, that's her tweet.
00:36:47.000 Okay, and then, and then, do we have the rest of her tweets here?
00:36:51.000 There's, there's one more.
00:36:53.000 Okay, so, and then finally, she, and then her final tweet was this.
00:36:56.000 Quote, this is from yesterday.
00:36:58.000 Sane, helpful, compassionate policies, yes please.
00:37:03.000 Okay?
00:37:05.000 And I will just point out one thing.
00:37:06.000 Yesterday, just coincidentally, yesterday just coincidentally, guess who got hired by the Trump campaign as an advisor?
00:37:13.000 AJ Delgado.
00:37:15.000 So for all these people who keep whining to me, people who say, oh Shapiro, you won't vote for Trump because you're getting paid off, you're getting paid off.
00:37:21.000 Okay, I've lost six figures in this election by leaving places like Breitbart because I wouldn't shill for this piece of crap.
00:37:27.000 Okay, you can vote for him, you can say he's better than Hillary, that's fine, but don't shill for him and don't tell people who won't vote for him and won't shill for him that they're the ones who are being paid off.
00:37:38.000 Okay, Breitbart News has made more money off its election cycle than anybody.
00:37:42.000 Sean Hannity's doing real well for himself because he backed Donald Trump.
00:37:45.000 Laura Ingraham is a prominent figure again, as opposed to a has-been talk show host a year and a half ago, because she's been pumping for Trump.
00:37:51.000 Okay, it's all a basket of crap.
00:37:54.000 I mean, it's all just, it's absolute nonsense.
00:37:56.000 It's absolute nonsense.
00:37:58.000 And this sort of stuff, you want to know where the check is signed?
00:38:00.000 The person signing the back of those checks is Donald Trump, in many cases.
00:38:03.000 Agent Elgato is just proof of that.
00:38:05.000 I'm not going to say that she switched to get Trump's
00:38:07.000 To get a job with Trump.
00:38:09.000 All I'm going to say is that she switched and then she got a job with Trump, okay?
00:38:13.000 And this whole thing is disappointing.
00:38:15.000 Figures who I really like doing silly things.
00:38:17.000 Dinesh D'Souza I think is a really good thinker.
00:38:19.000 I think he's a very solid thinker.
00:38:20.000 I like his book.
00:38:21.000 I like his movies.
00:38:22.000 Dinesh D'Souza tweeted this yesterday in an attempt to defend Trump.
00:38:24.000 Quote, what real Donald Trump admires about Putin is the way Putin, unlike someone else we know, loves his country and fights for its interests.
00:38:33.000 This is what Republicans have come to?
00:38:35.000 Really?
00:38:36.000 I mean, Dinesh knows better than this.
00:38:38.000 Kim Jong-un loves his country and fights for its interests.
00:38:40.000 He believes that its interests are him.
00:38:43.000 All dictators quote-unquote love their country and fight for its interests.
00:38:46.000 By this definition, Putin has made the average life of the Russian significantly worse.
00:38:51.000 Significantly worse.
00:38:53.000 But I mean, this is what we've come to now.
00:38:54.000 We're just going to sell out every principle we had, because Trump is better than Hillary Clinton, and if he isn't better than Hillary Clinton, he's still better than Hillary Clinton, because Hillary Clinton is the path that we didn't bother to tread.
00:39:04.000 I think Hillary will be a disaster.
00:39:06.000 I think that Trump is going to take the beating heart out of conservatism, rip it out of the chest like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, hold it up in his hand, and then it'll burst into flame.
00:39:13.000 I think that's where this is going, and I'm watching it happen in real time, and it really is disappointing.
00:39:18.000 There's still some actual conservatives out there.
00:39:20.000 People like Charles Krauthammer, people like Mark Levin, who are willing to call this the way they see it.
00:39:24.000 I thought Mark Levin had a great monologue yesterday.
00:39:26.000 Here's a little bit about Mark Levin's monologue yesterday about this.
00:39:30.000 Conservatism is not an ideology.
00:39:33.000 Conservatism, ladies and gentlemen, is about life.
00:39:39.000 Yes, it can be economic, social, but at its core, it's a way of living.
00:39:47.000 It's absolutely absurd to say conservatism has been tried.
00:39:53.000 You either live it or you don't.
00:39:55.000 But it doesn't go away.
00:39:57.000 Unalienable rights don't go away because current-day politicians are deceitful and shameless liars and unconscionable about the way they campaign.
00:40:06.000 That doesn't mean your natural rights, your unalienable rights disappear because of them.
00:40:11.000 They're God-given.
00:40:12.000 No man can give them.
00:40:14.000 No man can take them away.
00:40:16.000 No government can give them.
00:40:17.000 No government can take them away.
00:40:19.000 And Levin is one of the people, he said he's voting for Trump, but he's one of the people who's called out this stupid plan and said that it is what it is.
00:40:26.000 It is an element of leftism.
00:40:28.000 By the way, Rush Limbaugh, who sort of played it easy on Trump today on his show, even he came out and said, this election cycle is evidence that big government won on both sides.
00:40:38.000 It would have been nice to hear that from all of these hosts, all of them, during the primary season when people like me were shouting it from the rooftops and being told, don't worry, Donald Trump is really a small government conservative.
00:40:49.000 Okay, time for some things I like, some things I hate, and then we'll talk some bibble.
00:40:52.000 So, we'll begin with things I like.
00:40:54.000 So, we were talking about memoirs.
00:40:55.000 So, a memoir that's not deep but is fun, very few people know this one, but it's a really fun memoir, is Harpo Speaks.
00:41:02.000 So, if you like any of the old Marx Brothers movies, if you enjoy the Marx Brothers, then Harpo Speaks is great.
00:41:08.000 Harpo Marx, of course.
00:41:09.000 We're good to go.
00:41:38.000 They wouldn't want my answer to represent it because...
00:41:46.000 God knows I have been nothing but blessed.
00:41:49.000 My whole path, these 33 years, have been nothing but a blessing.
00:41:53.000 I have never, and never is a strong word, I've never dealt with racism, and I'm glad I didn't have to.
00:42:03.000 And I don't know if it's because of my blessings, I don't know if it's, but it is my reality.
00:42:09.000 So I have to say, not only did I thought it was over, I still believe it's over, but obviously,
00:42:16.000 It is.
00:42:17.000 So you've never experienced any offensive behavior from any other color?
00:42:23.000 No, sir.
00:42:24.000 Wow.
00:42:25.000 You are blessed.
00:42:26.000 A lot of white kids love rap.
00:42:28.000 Yes.
00:42:29.000 Explain that.
00:42:30.000 What does that say to you?
00:42:32.000 What's the message of it?
00:42:33.000 What's the bigger picture of it?
00:42:38.000 I don't want to be bashed because I don't want to sound like I'm on the wrong if there is a side, but I thought that was clearly a message that there was no such thing as racism.
00:42:47.000 This is good for him.
00:42:49.000 I mean, these are admissions that he's going to get absolutely crushed in the press for because if you even imply there's no such thing as racism, especially as a black person, they'll call you a liar.
00:42:57.000 They'll say that you're a sellout.
00:42:59.000 Good for him for at least saying what his experience has been, because all we ever hear from anybody like Barack Obama is that every single black person in America has experienced racism.
00:43:06.000 We hear it from Newt Gingrich now.
00:43:07.000 You know, this is the common language across the spectrum is now every black person in America has experienced racism.
00:43:13.000 Good for Lil Wayne for demonstrating that that's not true, because it isn't true.
00:43:16.000 It isn't true.
00:43:18.000 I don't think every Jew in America has experienced anti-Semitism, and there are significantly more hate crimes on a percentage basis against Jews than any other group in America.
00:43:25.000 I don't think that every Jew's experienced anti-Semitism.
00:43:28.000 I've seen some, but it's never really affected me in my life.
00:43:32.000 It certainly hasn't.
00:43:33.000 America's a wonderful, wonderful country, and I'm glad that Lil Wayne is willing to recognize that.
00:43:37.000 Okay, time for some things that I hate.
00:43:39.000 Let's do it.
00:43:44.000 So Sean Hannity is spending most of his time these days bashing the Never Trumpers.
00:43:47.000 He's really going hard after Jonah Goldberg and the NRO crew, the people at National Review.
00:43:51.000 And he's very upset because they're saying, and they're right, that Sean Hannity spent the primary season shilling for Donald Trump, and now he's still shilling for Donald Trump.
00:44:00.000 Sean Hannity dropped this on his show, I think it was yesterday or the day before.
00:44:07.000 We'll play it.
00:44:08.000 Everybody that I've had some type of fight with on this particular issue where I say you own it, and that's what you're referring to, be it Glenn or be it, let's see, Rich Lowry or Jonah Goldberg or Brett Stevens from the Wall Street Journal or the NRL goes, and I'm not saying anything, I'm not digging, I'm not advancing this today.
00:44:26.000 I've got a lot on my plate today.
00:44:27.000 But what I'm saying, they've all taken shots at me first and I just, I'm a counter puncher.
00:44:31.000 I punch back.
00:44:32.000 You know, now I'm working towards my black belt.
00:44:34.000 I'm very close.
00:44:35.000 I got probably a couple of years.
00:44:36.000 I finally got my brown belt.
00:44:37.000 I'm moving up in degrees.
00:44:38.000 And I kind of treat my business the same way.
00:44:40.000 If you hit me or if you come at me, I'm going to really hurt you and defend myself.
00:44:44.000 And I don't mean hurt in a physical sense.
00:44:45.000 This is verbal.
00:44:46.000 Combat unworthy.
00:44:47.000 Then why are you talking about Kung Fu, dude?
00:44:48.000 I mean, he's talking about how he's going to, well, I can personally attest that having watched him debate people from National Review on the Own It routine, his Kung Fu looks a lot less like Sean's actual karate abilities.
00:45:03.000 This is this video of Sean actually performing Kung Fu on people, karate on people.
00:45:13.000 In order to stay in shape, now for a couple of years, I've been doing mixed martial arts.
00:45:17.000 I'm a counter puncher.
00:45:18.000 I punch back.
00:45:18.000 You know, now I'm working towards my black belt.
00:45:20.000 I'm very close.
00:45:21.000 I got probably a couple of years.
00:45:22.000 I finally got my brown belt.
00:45:23.000 I'm moving up in degrees.
00:45:25.000 And I kind of treat my business the same way.
00:45:27.000 If you hit me or if you come at me, I'm going to really hurt you and defend myself.
00:45:30.000 I do martial arts.
00:45:32.000 You're either all in, meaning it's all out war, or you're not in at all.
00:45:37.000 You're trained in martial arts.
00:45:39.000 I'm trained in martial arts.
00:45:40.000 I get up early.
00:45:41.000 I do my martial arts.
00:45:43.000 Okay, so...
00:46:14.000 I really like Sean, but Sean's got a bit of the high school athlete about him.
00:46:18.000 The whole, OK, I have to show you how macho I am routine going on.
00:46:25.000 But I'm sorry, threatening Rich Lowry with his karate, thanks to the Washington Free Beacon for that mashup.
00:46:35.000 You can tell that Sean is getting upset now.
00:46:37.000 He's getting upset because people are blaming him for Trump.
00:46:40.000 And he doesn't want to be blamed for Trump.
00:46:41.000 He doesn't want to be blamed for the fact that Trump isn't really a conservative, so he continues to pretend that he is a conservative.
00:46:47.000 And, I mean, honestly, like, I look at that tape and Trump looks like he knows what he's doing.
00:46:51.000 Good for him.
00:46:51.000 I mean, that's great.
00:46:52.000 But this is such bizarre stuff.
00:46:54.000 I got to say, then, in his conversational back and forth with people who are never Trump, it looks less like him doing mixed martial arts and more like these people doing mixed martial arts.
00:47:26.000 Yeah, it's been kind of like that, unfortunately.
00:47:28.000 So, OK.
00:47:31.000 All right.
00:47:31.000 So, there you have it.
00:47:33.000 OK, time for some Bible talk.
00:47:35.000 So, on that ridiculous note, I mean, honestly, like, Glenn Beck tried to make overtures to Sean on this whole thing.
00:47:40.000 He said, look, I'm not voting for Trump, but afterward, we're all going to have to be on the—no matter what happens in the election, we all have to be on the same page in terms of fighting for conservatism.
00:47:48.000 And instead, we end up with Sean basically mirroring Trump's language.
00:47:51.000 I always fight back.
00:47:52.000 I never fight first.
00:47:53.000 I always punch back.
00:47:53.000 It's always me just punching back.
00:47:55.000 Yeah, okay, dude, it's always you punching back, except for the part where you were not telling the truth to your viewers for literally months about who you supported in this election cycle.
00:48:04.000 Alright, here is, let's talk a little bit of Bibble.
00:48:07.000 So, this week's Torah portion, every week as I explain here on the Ben Shapiro Show,
00:48:13.000 The Jews, the Jews!
00:48:14.000 We read a different portion of the Bible, of the five books of Moses, and that means by the end of the year we've gone all the way through the five books of Moses.
00:48:22.000 And this week's portion is from Deuteronomy, in Hebrew it's called Ki Tete, and here is the, here it is, it's from Deuteronomy 24, 16.
00:48:30.000 It says, Fathers shall not be put to death because of sons, nor shall sons be put to death because of fathers.
00:48:35.000 Each man shall be put to death for his own transgression.
00:48:38.000 The reason that I point this out
00:48:39.000 It's because there seems to be this notion in modern American leftism and international leftism generally, that we all have to pay for the sins of our fathers.
00:48:47.000 And when it comes to slavery reparations, for example, I never held slaves, you never held slaves, nobody in this room, nobody in America ever held slaves unless they lived in a foreign country where they held slaves and then moved here, okay?
00:48:57.000 Nobody in America has actually held slaves in the United States, nobody in America has held slaves for well over, at this point,
00:49:04.000 Well, about 150 years.
00:49:06.000 I mean, slavery ended 1865, so 150 years has been since anybody held slaves in the United States of America.
00:49:11.000 I wasn't a participant in Jim Crow.
00:49:13.000 My parents were not a participant in Jim Crow.
00:49:15.000 My grandfather used to throw a plumber out of the house once in the 50s for using the N-word in his house.
00:49:20.000 So, I have no responsibility for that.
00:49:22.000 But even if I did, even if my grandfather did something, that does not mean that I pay the price for something my grandfather did.
00:49:29.000 And I think this is super duper important for politics, both nationally and internationally.
00:49:33.000 Yes, virtually all problems in politics have roots in the past.
00:49:37.000 But that doesn't mean that the corrective is to blame people who are living today for things that happened in the past.
00:49:43.000 All that does is create a new injustice.
00:49:46.000 So if the idea for slavery reparations is that the roots of modern American black
00:49:52.000 I think so.
00:50:07.000 What you're doing is creating a new injustice, and that creates more ire, it creates more anger.
00:50:12.000 In my own life, actually, it's something that I've learned.
00:50:14.000 So, I know that when I was younger—you know, you grow up in the Jewish community, and there's a lot of talk about the Holocaust, obviously, because it's a big thing that's within living memory for a lot of folks.
00:50:24.000 My extended family, my grandmother, particularly my dad's side, my grandmother's family was still in Europe when the Holocaust happened, and virtually all of them were wiped out.
00:50:32.000 And so, for a long time, this is still a big thing in parts of the Jewish community.
00:50:35.000 They refuse to buy German cars.
00:50:39.000 They refuse to buy German cars.
00:50:40.000 Now, that's because, in some areas, there are German car companies that actually work with the Nazis.
00:50:45.000 Okay, that said, that said, modern Volkswagen has nothing to do with the Nazis.
00:50:51.000 It doesn't.
00:50:52.000 Modern Germans are not Nazis unless they're neo-Nazis.
00:50:55.000 And so blaming Germans and saying Germans are responsible for the Holocaust— Germans back in 1945 were responsible for the Holocaust.
00:51:02.000 A German kid who was born in 1997 is not responsible for the Holocaust.
00:51:06.000 We all need to recognize that if we all act decently to each other,
00:51:10.000 If we're just decent to each other?
00:51:11.000 We don't owe each other restitution for the sins of our parents and our grandparents.
00:51:15.000 That's not something that anybody can fix, right?
00:51:18.000 This is why the Torah, this is why the Bible specifically says that God is not going to hold you accountable for the sins of your parents and the sins of your grandparents.
00:51:25.000 And if we try to do that, if we try to be better than God at this, all we end up doing is creating new injustices.
00:51:31.000 And so, you know, we—instead, we ought to just treat each other as individual human beings as we meet each other.
00:51:37.000 It can't be—it can't be the sort of clan-ish, tribal murder regime that exists in so many parts of the world, where my father killed your father, so now I'm going to try and kill you.
00:51:46.000 If we do that, then we're asking for a recipe for unending suffering.
00:51:50.000 And we see it politically.
00:51:51.000 If I get control of the government, I'm going to use it to go after the people whose parents went after me.
00:51:56.000 You do that, those people are going to feel justified in being angry at you, and then when they grab the government, they're going to use it against you.
00:52:01.000 The government is not a tool to be used this way, and human beings should not act this way.
00:52:05.000 That's what the Bible means when it talks about you're not responsible for the sins of your parents in Deuteronomy 24.
00:52:11.000 Okay, this brings us to the end of today's show.
00:52:13.000 Tomorrow, of course, is the mailbag, so you need to subscribe at dailywire.com right now.
00:52:17.000 Eight bucks a month, and that means, that means that you magically get to see the show live as a broadcast, plus that means that you get to see Clavin's show for whatever small amount that's worth, and you get to be part of the mailbag for Clavin's show and the mailbag for my show, which means that I will answer all of your questions and make your life worth living, which is great, because otherwise you'll have to kill yourself and we wouldn't want you to do that.
00:52:36.000 So eight bucks a month, four stalls, mass suicidality, which is great.
