00:00:00.000 And here we are, it is Wednesday, and as usual, events are happening, things are happening, and all of them are odd and strange.
00:00:07.000 And we will talk about all of them.
00:00:08.000 Plus, we definitely want to talk to you about this brand new release that we're going to be having over at Daily Wire of something called Ferguson The Play.
00:00:16.000 It's really cool.
00:00:16.000 We'll have an interview with Phelan Mackley, our first interview here on The Ben Shapiro Show, in just a little while.
00:00:21.000 But first, I think that it's important to talk about breaking news.
00:00:25.000 Finally, Donald Trump has told us the true tale of just
00:00:30.000 What happened that his campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, was caught on tape grabbing a female reporter, Michelle Fields, by the arm, yanking her forcefully back and bruising her arm.
00:00:40.000 Lewandowski was earning himself a Medal of Honor.
00:00:42.000 Really, according to Trump, this event never happened in the first place.
00:00:45.000 It was all a figment of your imagination.
00:00:48.000 And Lewandowski said the same thing.
00:00:50.000 Well, now Lewandowski's probably headed for court because, as it turns out, it did happen.
00:00:55.000 It happened just the way Michelle Fields said it happened.
00:00:57.000 And it happened on tape.
00:00:59.000 But then we found out the truth.
00:01:01.000 Yesterday, last night, we found out the truth.
00:01:03.000 The real truth, the honest-to-goodness, Trumpy McTrump-Trump truth, the Trumpiest truth that ever trumped the truth.
00:01:10.000 Michelle Fields is an assassin.
00:01:13.000 She's an assassin, seriously.
00:01:14.000 She's a grabby-handed little harasser.
00:01:16.000 She's an attention whore.
00:01:17.000 Corey Lewandowski, by contrast, he's a Normandy commando storming the shores to fight the Nazis, protecting
00:01:24.000 Great leader Donald Trump from her frightening normal-sized human hands.
00:01:30.000 Yes, yesterday Trump changed his story.
00:01:31.000 Now it turns out Lewandowski did grab Fields, but only after Fields grabbed Trump.
00:01:36.000 Not only did she grab him, she was holding an object.
00:01:39.000 Was it a pen?
00:01:39.000 Maybe it was a knife.
00:01:40.000 Maybe it was a bomb.
00:01:41.000 I mean, did you see what the Joker did to that mobster in the dark night with a pencil?
00:01:46.000 It could have posed a threat to the great leader.
00:01:48.000 What about those bruises on her arm?
00:01:49.000 Well, says Trump, Michelle Field, she must have faked those bruises, like the moon landing.
00:01:54.000 That's just what an attention whore would-be assassin would do, just like John Wilkes Booth.
00:01:59.000 Scary.
00:02:00.000 Sad.
00:02:01.000 But then, like an avenging angel from heaven, Trump, by the way, only hires the very best people because he has the very best brain, a very good brain.
00:02:09.000 Corey Lewandowski, his campaign manager, swooped in past Trump's secret service detail and seized the offending 100-pound female assassin by the arm, thrusting her away from the great leader.
00:02:20.000 And thus, the Republic was preserved.
00:02:23.000 So, three cheers for Corey Lewandowski, defender of the masses, Praetorian guard for the great leader.
00:02:28.000 If Trump says it's so,
00:02:29.000 I've learned from Trump's followers, it must be so.
00:02:32.000 The great leader would never lie, he would never lie to you.
00:02:35.000 He looks forward to seeing you at his unicorn lair, where Lewandowski will be granted sainthood.
00:02:40.000 And, if you become a Trump guardian angel, you too can earn his esteem, and perhaps, just perhaps, a spot beside him on the podium of hugeness.
00:02:49.000 I'm Ben Shapiro, this is the Ben Shapiro Show.
00:02:59.000 Alrighty, so we have to start the day by thanking our advertisers, Hillsdale.edu.
00:03:04.000 So Hillsdale College is a wonderful place.
00:03:07.000 Hillsdale is the best college you can send your kids to if you're a conservative.
00:03:10.000 They actually still believe in actual values of civilization and they do a wonderful job teaching them.
00:03:16.000 But it's not just for students anymore.
00:03:18.000 One of their new courses, they've released this whole series of online courses for free.
00:03:22.000 Their new one is Economics 101.
00:03:24.000 Now, if you've watched Donald Trump, he says a lot of things about economics that just aren't true.
00:03:29.000 And that's true for most of the candidates.
00:03:30.000 Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton.
00:03:32.000 You can know econ.
00:03:33.000 You can know Economics 101.
00:03:35.000 It is the most important subject.
00:03:37.000 Checked for you to learn when I actions very often by by conservatives both young and old when I'm asked the questions about whether what book I would recommend I always recommend economics books first because without a basic understanding of economics You really don't know anything about how the world works or or how the Constitution even should work Well, the good news is economics 101 from Hillsdale College fills in that gap for you.
00:03:58.000 It's a free online course you can go there and sign up hillsdale.edu slash Ben and
00:04:02.000 Hillsdale.edu slash ben.
00:04:04.000 Wonderful institution and their economics 101 course I'm sure is just phenomenal so go out and take a look.
00:04:10.000 Okay so Donald Trump's story on the Corey Lewandowski routine has now changed.
00:04:15.000 So yesterday all hell broke loose as we talked briefly about on the program because tape was finally revealed demonstrating that indeed Michelle Fields was grabbed by the arm which everyone knew was true.
00:04:25.000 It was backed up
00:04:26.000 By a reporter who was there.
00:04:28.000 It was backed up by audio tape.
00:04:29.000 It was backed up by videotape.
00:04:31.000 It was backed up by photos.
00:04:32.000 It was backed up by everything.
00:04:34.000 But the Trumpkins refused to believe.
00:04:36.000 And because the media play this evil, nasty game where they suggest that the truth and falsehood are just two sides of the same coin, they're just two people telling their different truths, Trump was allowed to get away with this.
00:04:47.000 This is why he says things that are eminently false, eminently, egregiously, terribly false.
00:04:52.000 And everybody just says, well, you know, that's just that's just because you don't understand his perspective.
00:04:57.000 No, I get it.
00:04:58.000 He's lying because he's a lying garbage heap of human debris, as I said on Megyn Kelly's show last night.
00:05:02.000 So here is the video of the grab.
00:05:04.000 Here's the video of the grab.
00:05:06.000 We'll show it again from yesterday, and then we will talk about how this whole story evolved.
00:05:10.000 Here we go.
00:05:22.000 Okay, so as you can see from the video, and this is their surveillance video from the room, it's cut a little bit because the way that surveillance video often works is it only registers every 0.5 seconds or so, so stuff goes on between, but what you can see is Lewandowski coming from behind, grabbing Michelle Fields from the arm and thrusting her backwards, yanking her backwards, and her hand was bruised.
00:05:42.000 Her arm was bruised.
00:05:44.000 Here's what she tweeted.
00:05:44.000 Here's the tweet of the bruise that she tweeted out shortly after this happened, within 48 hours.
00:05:49.000 Right, because people were claiming that she hadn't been bruised, she'd made it all up, it was just some evil scam to get the great Donald.
00:05:56.000 You know, because that's just how sophisticated we, who don't like Donald Trump, are.
00:06:01.000 We're the kinds of people who fake stories about being yanked and bruised just to get Trump, just to get him.
00:06:06.000 Here's what Corey Lewandowski tweeted at the time.
00:06:09.000 So Corey Lewandowski is the campaign manager, and here's what he tweeted at the time of the alleged battery.
00:06:15.000 Quote, you are totally delusional.
00:06:16.000 I never touched you.
00:06:17.000 As a matter of fact, I have never even met you.
00:06:20.000 Well, as you can see from the video, that is pure and unadulterated BS.
00:06:25.000 And Donald Trump backs that BS all the way.
00:06:27.000 So here is Donald Trump a couple of days after the report was first made and before the police report.
00:06:33.000 Here is Donald Trump initially responding to Michelle Fields' allegation that Corey Lewandowski grabbed her by the arm, pulled her backwards forcefully enough to bruise her.
00:06:42.000 Here's what Trump had to say.
00:06:43.000 I think that's what happened.
00:06:45.000 She made the story up.
00:06:46.000 And the Secret Service, by the way, said nothing happened.
00:06:49.000 They said nothing happened.
00:06:50.000 And the part about the Secret Service is important because now Trump is
00:07:07.000 Let's face facts here.
00:07:08.000 Donald Trump is the Clintons.
00:07:24.000 When the Clintons had to face down more serious accusations than this, when they had to face down accusations of sexual assault and sexual harassment, James Carville said about various women who had affairs with Bill Clinton, if you drag a $100 bill through a trailer park, you never know what you'll find.
00:07:40.000 That's essentially what Trump is saying there.
00:07:42.000 He's essentially saying Michelle Fields is an attention whore and that's the only reason this happened in the first place.
00:07:47.000 Apparently Trump's people were saying that they thought that Michelle Fields only made a big deal out of this after she realized Trump was rich, which is absurd.
00:07:54.000 The only reason anyone knows Trump's name is because he won't shut up ever about how rich he is.
00:07:58.000 He inflates his wealth just to demonstrate how rich he is.
00:08:01.000 So what's Trump's news story?
00:08:03.000 So here's Trump's news story.
00:08:04.000 So yesterday he went
00:08:07.000 We're good to go.
00:08:24.000 Okay, every element of that is present here.
00:08:27.000 And again, she was bruised.
00:08:28.000 And the reason she filed a police report in the first place is not because she thought this was the worst thing that ever happened.
00:08:33.000 She didn't claim that she'd been beaten up.
00:08:35.000 She didn't claim that she'd been hit with a crowbar.
00:08:37.000 The reason she did this is because all of the Trump people said that she was lying and making this up.
00:08:41.000 And she wanted to substantiate the allegations by saying, listen, I take it seriously enough that I'll file a police report.
00:08:46.000 Plus, let the police vouch for the fact that these bruises on my arm are real.
00:08:51.000 Here's what Trump had to say last night about these allegations and it just I mean we're now we're now in the realm of the completely unreal and this is what frightens me about a certain segment of Trump support and now large segment of Trump support.
00:09:05.000 They just don't care.
00:09:07.000 What's true and what isn't true.
00:09:09.000 Their story has shifted from she was lying, it never happened, to okay, maybe it happened, but it wasn't so bad, to Trump's new story is that Corey Lewandowski is a Medal of Honor recipient who should be granted a spot.
00:09:21.000 He should be canonized by the Catholic Church, actually, for having saved the world from the scourge of Michelle Fields, who was definitely going to use her James Bond pen to kill Donald Trump if Corey Lewandowski hadn't stepped in.
00:09:31.000 Here's Donald Trump last night on Anderson Cooper.
00:09:34.000 Anderson Cooper had a town hall.
00:09:35.000 And he asked Donald Trump about this, and here was Trump explaining himself.
00:09:39.000 But look what she says, Michelle Fields, who by the way, she's not a baby, okay?
00:09:43.000 In her own words, exactly, I was jolted backwards.
00:09:46.000 Well, she wasn't, I mean, she's standing there.
00:09:49.000 Someone had grabbed me tightly by the arm, tightly, and yanked me down.
00:09:54.000 She wasn't yanked down, she was like, she didn't even have any expression.
00:09:57.000 If somebody in this audience gets whacked or gets hurt,
00:10:00.000 Including me.
00:10:01.000 You get hit a little bit, you go, wow.
00:10:03.000 There's no emotion.
00:10:04.000 Okay, wait a minute.
00:10:05.000 I almost fell to the ground.
00:10:07.000 I almost fell to the ground.
00:10:08.000 She didn't almost fall to the ground.
00:10:10.000 He got in her way.
00:10:11.000 And by the way, she was grabbing me.
00:10:13.000 Am I supposed to press charges against her?
00:10:15.000 Or my arm is... Anderson, my arm is just killing me.
00:10:18.000 It's never been the same.
00:10:19.000 You've suggested you might.
00:10:20.000 Excuse me.
00:10:21.000 Excuse me.
00:10:22.000 I didn't suggest.
00:10:22.000 Yeah, you did.
00:10:23.000 I tweeted.
00:10:24.000 No, no.
00:10:24.000 I tweeted.
00:10:25.000 A tweet is a suggestion.
00:10:27.000 Should I press charges?
00:10:28.000 Are you going to?
00:10:28.000 Sure.
00:10:29.000 I don't know, maybe I should, right?
00:10:31.000 Because you know what?
00:10:32.000 She was, she was grabbing me!
00:10:35.000 She was grabbing me.
00:10:36.000 So first of all, the video shows no such thing.
00:10:38.000 Second of all, she's got a pen in one hand and a phone in the other.
00:10:40.000 So exactly how the grab happened is not available on the video.
00:10:45.000 Second of all, here's Trump suggesting and making light of the fact that this gal got bruised.
00:10:50.000 Finally, he just lies openly to Anderson.
00:10:52.000 I never suggested I would sue.
00:10:54.000 A tweet's not a suggestion.
00:10:55.000 I mean, he just makes crap up.
00:10:57.000 He just makes it up.
00:10:58.000 And all you Trump supporters who are ardently backing him on this,
00:11:02.000 You can back him, that's fine.
00:11:04.000 Again, it's your prerogative.
00:11:05.000 Don't tell me he's not a liar.
00:11:07.000 He's not just a liar, he's a pathological liar who thinks he can get away with anything.
00:11:10.000 And it gets worse than that.
00:11:11.000 By the way, she was jolted backwards, and you can see that.
00:11:14.000 She was grabbed tightly.
00:11:15.000 She didn't say she fell down.
00:11:17.000 She didn't say she fell down.
00:11:18.000 She said she lost her balance and regained her balance.
00:11:20.000 But it doesn't even matter.
00:11:21.000 The truth is of no consequence to the Trump supporters.
00:11:23.000 And Trump starts to go even further.
00:11:25.000 Yesterday, Trump said that not only was Michelle Fields grabbing at him, which is patently untrue from the tape, and I spoke with Michelle, and it's not true,
00:11:32.000 Here is what Donald Trump said was the real threat.
00:11:35.000 Clip seven.
00:11:36.000 And just so you understand, she was off base because she went through the Secret Service.
00:11:41.000 She had a pen in her hand, which Secret Service is not liking because they don't know what it is, whether it's a little bomb or whether it's a knife.
00:11:46.000 So it doesn't concern you.
00:11:47.000 Whether it's a little bomb or whether it's a knife?
00:11:49.000 Ooh, she went to Q and Q gave her the James Bond pen bomb of doom.
00:11:54.000 Have you seen what Jason Bourne can do with a pen?
00:11:58.000 I mean, Michelle Fields is a danger to the Republic because she was carrying a pen.
00:12:02.000 Because reporters never carry pens.
00:12:03.000 No one even knew what it was.
00:12:04.000 It could have been a knife.
00:12:05.000 It could have been a bomb.
00:12:05.000 It could have been a chicken with its head cut off.
00:12:07.000 No one knew.
00:12:08.000 It was all mysterious.
00:12:10.000 And I tweeted a picture of Donald Trump standing next to somebody who wanted an autograph from him the other day.
00:12:14.000 The guy's holding a Sharpie.
00:12:15.000 And I tweeted, where's Corey Lewandowski to save him from the evil Sharpie murderer?
00:12:19.000 And this is insanity, folks.
00:12:21.000 This is insanity.
00:12:21.000 And then Trump goes even further.
00:12:23.000 Just when you think he's gone far enough, no, he goes even further.
00:12:26.000 He says, she was grabbing at him.
00:12:27.000 And then he says, maybe she faked the bruises.
00:12:29.000 Maybe the bruises are totally fake.
00:12:30.000 This is clip nine.
00:12:31.000 Take a look at that.
00:12:32.000 You have to see it.
00:12:34.000 You take a look at her initial statement.
00:12:35.000 It sounded like she got thrown out of a building.
00:12:38.000 You take a look at that and then, excuse me?
00:12:41.000 She did get bruises on her arm.
00:12:42.000 I don't know if they were bruises from that.
00:12:44.000 Why?
00:12:44.000 Who said they were bruises from that?
00:12:45.000 How do you know those bruises weren't there before?
00:12:47.000 That's what the police said.
00:12:49.000 I don't know what the police said.
00:12:50.000 How do you know those bruises weren't there before?
00:12:52.000 I'm not a lawyer.
00:12:53.000 But she said she had a bruise on her arm.
00:12:55.000 I mean, to me, you know, if you're going to get squeezed, wouldn't you think that she would have yelled out a scream or something if she has bruises on her arm?
00:13:05.000 Take a look at her facial expression.
00:13:07.000 Her facial expression doesn't even change.
00:13:10.000 So, you know, you say bruises are on.
00:13:12.000 How did they get there?
00:13:13.000 Who put them there?
00:13:14.000 I don't know that he put them there.
00:13:15.000 In any event, I'm sticking up for a person because I'm not going to let a person's life be destroyed.
00:13:22.000 You just take a look at what people are saying.
00:13:30.000 How about the people who are the police?
00:13:32.000 How about the people who are not backing you out of some perverse loyalty for your candidacy?
00:13:36.000 How about those people?
00:13:38.000 How about Ben Taras who was there and testified that he bruises weld on her arm as he was standing there?
00:13:44.000 This is such conspiracy theory nonsense, but that's who Trump is.
00:13:47.000 Trump is an internet troll.
00:13:49.000 He's a conspiracy theory internet troll.
00:13:51.000 He's a guy who spent years going after Barack Obama's birth certificate, and then he decided he's still kind of a 9-11 truther.
00:14:00.000 He still talks on a routine basis about we still haven't had the full story on what happened on 9-11.
00:14:05.000 He's a conspiracy theorist, so it's another conspiracy to bring down the great Trump.
00:14:10.000 He's doing what people have started calling gaslighting.
00:14:12.000 Bill Whittle is the person who started popularizing this term.
00:14:15.000 My friend Bill Whittle.
00:14:16.000 And gaslighting is a reference to an old movie from the 1940s.
00:14:20.000 It's based on a play from 1938.
00:14:22.000 Good piece over at The Federalist about this.
00:14:23.000 And in the play, there's a husband who's trying to drive his wife insane.
00:14:28.000 And so the way he decides to drive his wife insane
00:14:30.000 What he's saying is he lowers the lighting in the house, and then when she says that the lighting in the house was lowered, he tells her that it wasn't lowered, right?
00:14:38.000 He gaslights her, because they're gaslights.
00:14:40.000 He artificially lowers the lights, and then he tells her it's all in her head.
00:14:43.000 She must be crazy.
00:14:44.000 Well, that's exactly what's happening here.
00:14:47.000 Donald Trump is telling you that your own eyes deceive you, that what you see on tape is not real, that what you see on tape is not—that what Michelle Field said in her own statement
00:14:57.000 Is not true.
00:14:58.000 Donald Trump is actually lying about what Fields claims in the first place.
00:15:02.000 If you go to clip 10, you'll hear Donald Trump actually skip words.
00:15:05.000 He's reading her statement.
00:15:07.000 You'll hear him skip words in the statement in order to malign her.
00:15:11.000 It's an amazing thing what he's doing, and he's getting away with it because he's got a support base that is willing to back whatever lie he tells, and he's got a media that's willing to grant him a patina of credibility even though he deserves none.
00:15:21.000 Here's clip 10.
00:15:25.000 Okay, she never said thrown to the floor.
00:15:32.000 She never said thrown to the floor.
00:15:34.000 She said Lewandowski tried to throw her to the floor, but that she lost her balance and regained it.
00:15:38.000 She never said she was thrown to the floor, but she just lies about it.
00:15:43.000 So the new tactic is that, number one, she was a psycho assassin killer.
00:15:47.000 Number two, she was grabbing at Trump like some sort of pawing animal.
00:15:50.000 Only in Trump's dreams would Michelle Fields have any mild interest in making serious physical contact with Donald Trump.
00:15:56.000 And then finally, we get to Donald Trump just lying about what she originally alleged, saying, oh, she alleged basically that I beat her down with a baseball bat.
00:16:03.000 Corey Lewandowski hit her.
00:16:04.000 And that never happened.
00:16:04.000 Look at the tape.
00:16:05.000 The tape shows exactly what she said it shows.
00:16:08.000 But again, truth is of no consequence.
00:16:10.000 Okay, if truth matters to you, if politics matter to you, and if you are concerned that people are going to invade your privacy because they don't like your political perspective, you need to go to our friends over at ReaganPrivacy.com.
00:16:22.000 ReaganPrivacy.com.
00:16:23.000 This is where you get your email address for Reagan.com.
00:16:25.000 So it's your name at Reagan.com.
00:16:28.000 You get two things that are great by working with reagan.com.
00:16:31.000 First of all, all of your emails are now associated with Ronald Reagan, which is cool.
00:16:35.000 Second of all, they vow and they pledge that they will protect all of your email content from both marketing firms and corporations and the government on the other hand.
00:16:43.000 So they'll protect all of your materials.
00:16:44.000 So go to reaganprivacy.com.
00:16:46.000 You get the first two months free right now if you go to reaganprivacy.com.
00:16:51.000 Great service, and we're so glad to be working with them.
00:16:54.000 So Trump does this whole routine where now he lies.
00:16:57.000 About what happened originally.
00:16:59.000 Then he lies about the lie.
00:17:00.000 Oh, well, you know what I really meant by that was.
00:17:02.000 And then he finally lies about the lies about the lie, right?
00:17:04.000 Then he finally says, well, all of that was nonsense.
00:17:06.000 Here's the real story that I haven't been telling you for a month.
00:17:09.000 The real story is that Michelle Fields is a trained ISIS assassin who is sneaking up on me in her very clever way, asking me a question about affirmative action.
00:17:18.000 As she toddled along on her high heels, and she was just about to pounce, when Corey Lewandowski came out of nowhere and saved Donald Trump, you know, the biggest, strongest, toughest man in the universe?
00:17:28.000 Saved big, fat, bloated sack of crap Donald Trump from this itty-bitty reporter.
00:17:33.000 He's the real man in this race.
00:17:35.000 That's what real men do.
00:17:36.000 Real men are deeply afraid of young female reporters holding pens anywhere near them.
00:17:41.000 I know that that's been a particular fear of mine, if I were an insane person.
00:17:46.000 But again, these Trump supporters, there's so many Trump supporters, and I get it on my Twitter feed, you're ruining your career over this!
00:17:52.000 You're ruining your career!
00:17:53.000 No, it turns out that I don't do this sort of stuff for career reasons.
00:17:57.000 Listen, if I wanted your love, I could do it.
00:18:00.000 I could pretend that I thought Donald Trump was a good guy, or that he was a valuable part of the political conversation, or that he adds to the great voice of debate in the country in a real and valuable way.
00:18:10.000 Yeah, he can say whatever he wants, but me telling you the truth does not make me popular with the Trump supporters.
00:18:15.000 I get that.
00:18:16.000 But I promise you this.
00:18:17.000 I'm less concerned about your allegations that I'm sinking my career by going after Donald Trump than I am about the truth.
00:18:23.000 And it turns out it's true that Corey Lewandowski grabbed Michelle Fields.
00:18:26.000 It's true that Donald Trump is a damn congenital liar, and that Corey Lewandowski is the same, and that both of them are willing to cover up for thuggish behavior simply in order to avoid apologizing, because all this could have
00:18:38.000 ...gone away in the first 24 hours.
00:18:41.000 Lewandowski just said, I'm sorry I grabbed you by the arm.
00:18:43.000 I shouldn't have done that.
00:18:44.000 It was my mistake.
00:18:45.000 It all would have gone away.
00:18:46.000 Instead, it turns into this.
00:18:48.000 Instead, it turns into this.
00:18:49.000 And I promise you, the media are just overjoyed about this.
00:18:53.000 So, for example, Jake Tapper was talking with one of the Trump spokespeople, and here is how that interview went.
00:18:58.000 It went very poorly for the Trump spokesperson.
00:19:00.000 Your campaign, I'm telling you as a factual matter, is pushing it.
00:19:04.000 Your social media director tweeted out a crazy video suggesting that Amanda Carpenter, who's married with two children, and this married senator, who also has two children, that something untoward was going on.
00:19:20.000 There is no actual evidence that it happened.
00:19:23.000 I mean, at some point, aren't you just ashamed?
00:19:25.000 This is the Trump campaign sending it out.
00:19:29.000 Look, what I'm personally, Jake, what I'm ashamed of is the entire process.
00:19:34.000 That it's gotten to where it's gutter politics.
00:19:36.000 I think it's very disingenuous for the Cruz campaign to come out and act like they've done nothing wrong in this entire political process.
00:19:44.000 They're one of the dirtiest and nastiest campaigns out there.
00:19:47.000 And, I mean, if you don't believe me, ask Ben Carson.
00:19:50.000 Ted Cruz is one of the nastiest.
00:19:52.000 I would rather... Okay, this is ridiculous.
00:20:17.000 Here's Amanda Carpenter responding to that.
00:20:19.000 This is clip 17.
00:20:46.000 This is what garbage the Trump campaign is.
00:20:48.000 And they are.
00:20:48.000 They've reached beyond the point of regular politics.
00:20:50.000 They've now entered full garbage mode.
00:20:52.000 And the only question is how much garbage they can heap onto the garbage heap that is this campaign.
00:20:58.000 Have you had, ever, any sort of intimate relationship with Senator Cruz?
00:21:04.000 Anything at all?
00:21:05.000 Anything that could be considered inappropriate?
00:21:08.000 No.
00:21:08.000 I had a purely professional relationship with Senator Cruz, and I want to go further than that.
00:21:13.000 I have been 100% faithful to my husband.
00:21:17.000 There's nothing more important to me than being a good wife and a good mother.
00:21:22.000 And it's been very hard the past few days to have my character called into question and watch this blow back on them.
00:21:28.000 So thank you for having me here to talk about it.
00:21:31.000 And I hope no one else has to go through this.
00:21:33.000 This video that they put out that the Trump campaign itself was pushing.
00:21:38.000 It appears to show him not wearing a sports jacket and then like you're wearing a sports jacket or something.
00:21:44.000 I don't really understand it.
00:21:45.000 Did you understand it?
00:21:46.000 Can you explain what they're trying to say?
00:21:48.000 It's conspiracy theories that are being pushed online.
00:21:51.000 I can't fathom why.
00:21:53.000 One of the things that drives you totally nuts about
00:22:22.000 I don't know.
00:22:32.000 I'm upset about the Michelle Fields incident.
00:22:34.000 The reason I'm upset about the Michelle Fields incident is because if you refuse to see facts, I'm going to keep telling you these facts over and over.
00:22:40.000 I'm being labeled by the Trump supporters as a social justice warrior.
00:22:43.000 We'll get to the Trump supporters who have no grounds to stand on when they label other people leftists in just a second.
00:22:49.000 But the fact that the reason why people are getting upset about this is because when you're arguing with people who will not see reason,
00:22:57.000 It's very frustrating.
00:22:58.000 It's a very frustrating process.
00:23:00.000 And the Trump people not only refuse to see reason, they refuse to acknowledge basic truth.
00:23:05.000 And by the way, if you think, if you think that Trump is going to get away with this crap in a general election, you are out of your mind.
00:23:12.000 Here's how a general election is going to look.
00:23:13.000 In clip 14, Anderson Cooper asks Donald Trump about the way he's running his campaign, and particularly about his attacks on Heidi Cruz.
00:23:20.000 This is what a general election campaign is going to look like once the media really starts getting involved.
00:23:25.000 After saying that you were going to spill the beans about Heidi Cruz, you retweeted an unflattering picture of her next to a picture of your wife.
00:23:32.000 I thought it was a nice picture of Heidi.
00:23:33.000 I thought it was fine.
00:23:34.000 Come on.
00:23:34.000 I thought it was fine.
00:23:35.000 She's a pretty woman.
00:23:36.000 You're running for President of the United States.
00:23:38.000 Excuse me.
00:23:38.000 Excuse me.
00:23:38.000 I didn't start it.
00:23:40.000 I didn't start it.
00:23:41.000 Sir, with all due respect, that's the argument of a five-year-old.
00:23:44.000 I didn't start it.
00:23:45.000 No, it's not.
00:23:45.000 The argument of a five-year-old is he started it.
00:23:48.000 You would say that.
00:23:49.000 That's the problem with our country.
00:23:50.000 Every parent knows a kid who says he started it.
00:23:52.000 Excuse me.
00:23:53.000 No, no, no.
00:23:54.000 That's the problem.
00:23:56.000 Exactly that thinking is the problem this country has.
00:23:58.000 I did not start this.
00:24:00.000 He sent out a picture and he knew very well it was a picture.
00:24:02.000 He didn't send a picture.
00:24:02.000 It was a picture of a cover story.
00:24:05.000 It was a cover story of a picture taken by Antoine Verglas, one of the great photographers of the world, by the way.
00:24:11.000 My wife was a very, very successful model, like one of the most.
00:24:15.000 It was a picture for the cover of GQ, which is a very good magazine.
00:24:20.000 You don't think he sent it out?
00:24:21.000 It wasn't even a pro-SuperPAC, it was an anti-Trump SuperPAC.
00:24:25.000 They were Romney people.
00:24:27.000 Romney is, you know, very embarrassed that he did so badly four years ago.
00:24:30.000 The guy choked like a dog when he lost an election.
00:24:32.000 Do you have proof that he sent it out?
00:24:34.000 No, everybody knows he sent it out.
00:24:35.000 He knew the people in the SuperPAC.
00:24:38.000 I would be willing to bet he wrote the phrase, you know, this is what you like.
00:24:42.000 Okay, this is how a normal campaign is gonna go.
00:24:45.000 The media is going to say to Trump,
00:24:47.000 They are right.
00:24:48.000 You are acting like a five-year-old.
00:24:49.000 Because he is acting like a five-year-old.
00:24:51.000 And so are a lot of his supporters.
00:24:52.000 So are a lot of his supporters.
00:24:55.000 We're good to go.
00:25:20.000 Donald Trump could not sniff Harvard Law School if you gave him a map.
00:25:24.000 Donald Trump is a legitimately stupid left guy.
00:25:28.000 And here's the proof.
00:25:29.000 Last night, during this town hall, he was asked by Anderson Cooper to explain the functions of the federal government.
00:25:34.000 Please name the responsibilities of the federal government.
00:25:36.000 Three responsibilities of the federal government.
00:25:38.000 This is actually a really pretty easy question.
00:25:40.000 The first one, obviously, is going to be national defense.
00:25:43.000 And then it's going to be preventing the abuse of particular rights.
00:25:48.000 So the freedom of speech has to be protected.
00:25:50.000 These are federal government issues, right?
00:25:51.000 All of these are in the Constitution.
00:26:06.000 Here is Donald Trump's response to that same question because he doesn't know what the Constitution is, he doesn't know what the federal government is, he doesn't know how to spell federal government or any other word that is more than two syllables.
00:26:16.000 Here is Donald Trump explaining the functions of the federal government and all you Trump fans out there, all you people saying that people who oppose Trump are the real lefties, you tell me how Donald Trump is not the real leftist with an answer like this.
00:26:28.000 Here we go, clip 18.
00:26:29.000 So in terms of federal government role, you're saying security, but you also say healthcare and education should be provided by the federal government.
00:26:36.000 Well, those are two of the things.
00:26:36.000 Yeah, sure.
00:26:37.000 I mean, there are obviously many things.
00:26:39.000 Housing, providing great neighborhoods and safe neighborhoods.
00:26:41.000 Because aren't you against the federal government's involvement in education?
00:26:45.000 Don't you want it to devolve to state?
00:26:46.000 No, I want it to go to state, absolutely.
00:26:49.000 So that's not part of what the federal government's role is?
00:26:51.000 The concept of the country is the concept that we have to have education within the country and we have to get rid of Common Core and it should be brought to the state level.
00:26:59.000 And federal health care run by the federal government?
00:27:02.000 Health care.
00:27:03.000 We need health care for our people.
00:27:04.000 We need a good... Obamacare is a disaster.
00:27:07.000 Is that what the federal government should be doing?
00:27:09.000 The government can lead it, but it should be privately done.
00:27:13.000 Okay, his head is so far up his ass that it's actually coming out his mouth again.
00:27:18.000 Like he's gone all the way to his anal cavity, through his small intestine, through his large intestine, through his stomach, through his esophagus, and his head is coming out of his head again.
00:27:26.000 I mean, that's what you get from this clip.
00:27:27.000 So in this clip, he says, education is a federal government function.
00:27:31.000 Anderson Cooper, who is significantly less stupid than Donald Trump, says, well, but I thought you're against Common Core.
00:27:35.000 He says, well, I am against Common Core, but what I mean is that education has to happen in the United States.
00:27:41.000 Okay.
00:27:42.000 That doesn't mean it's a federal government function, you stupid moron.
00:27:45.000 And then he says healthcare.
00:27:47.000 And Anderson Cooper says, well, but, but I, so federal healthcare.
00:27:50.000 So we can't let people die in the streets, but I hate Obamacare.
00:27:52.000 What are you even talking about?
00:27:53.000 What are you even talking?
00:27:54.000 Trump doesn't know what Trump is talking about.
00:27:56.000 You want to see another piece of Trump not knowing what he's talking about?
00:27:59.000 Here's clip 20.
00:28:00.000 Okay.
00:28:01.000 Trump was asked to explain how he would determine who sits on the Supreme court or not.
00:28:05.000 Prepare to hear about 30 seconds of utter and unambiguous adulterated ignorance from Donald Trump.
00:28:11.000 Well, I'd probably appoint people that would look very seriously at her email disaster because it's a criminal activity.
00:28:18.000 And I would appoint people that would look very seriously at that to start off with.
00:28:23.000 What she's getting away with is absolutely murder.
00:28:25.000 You talk about a case.
00:28:27.000 Now, that's a real case.
00:28:28.000 Now, nothing seems to be happening.
00:28:30.000 But you can also poll people on that and you see what happens.
00:28:33.000 So.
00:28:34.000 So.
00:28:34.000 So Trump says.
00:28:35.000 Just to get this straight, Donald Trump has asked, how would you appoint Supreme Court justices?
00:28:39.000 And he says, I want people who will investigate Hillary's email scandal because it's a real scandal.
00:28:44.000 That's not what the Supreme Court does, you idiot.
00:28:47.000 The Supreme Court is not an investigative arm.
00:28:50.000 That's for the DOJ.
00:28:51.000 It's for the Attorney General.
00:28:53.000 But you're stupid, so you don't know that.
00:28:55.000 Okay, now I'm not saying all Trump followers are stupid.
00:28:57.000 Maybe you have a good reason, although I would really, really like to hear your grand reason for voting for the most unpopular man in American politics, who has an IQ of 105, a not even rudimentary understanding of how government works, and whose greatest qualification, apparently, is hitting random people
00:29:13.000 We're good to go.
00:29:38.000 So, as I mentioned a little bit earlier in the program, Ferguson the Play is this fantastic production that's now been filmed.
00:29:45.000 Phelan McAleer is the writer of Ferguson the Play, and basically the way that it works is they took the transcripts of the Ferguson grand jury testimony and they turned them into a play.
00:29:56.000 It's very dramatic, it's wonderful, and we're very proud to host it here at Daily Wire.
00:30:00.000 Here's my interview with Phelan McAleer.
00:30:05.000 So, this is the first interview that we've actually ever done on The Ben Shapiro Show podcast, and we're honored to have with us Phelan McAleer.
00:30:10.000 Phelan is a filmmaker and an artist.
00:30:14.000 He's made Not Evil, Just Wrong.
00:30:16.000 He also is the guy behind the new Gosnell movie that should be coming out pretty soon.
00:30:20.000 But what we're here to talk about today is a production that we're premiering exclusively here at The Daily Wire.
00:30:25.000 It's the video performance of Ferguson the Play.
00:30:29.000 So, Ferguson the Play is a piece of theater, Phelan, that you came up with.
00:30:33.000 Uh, that was supposed to kind of tell the truth about what happened in Ferguson, Missouri, and the situation between Officer Darren Wilson, the white police officer, and Michael Brown, the young black man who was shot, and then obviously it became a national story because the left claimed that he'd been shot unjustifiably.
00:30:46.000 What caused you to get this play going in the first place?
00:30:51.000 Well, there was a lot of stories about what happened, Michael Brown, and a lot of media coverage about what happened.
00:30:57.000 I'm a court reporter in a previous life.
00:30:59.000 I'm a journalist, really, at the end of the day.
00:31:02.000 And I went and I actually read a lot of the grand jury testimony.
00:31:06.000 And I suddenly realised so much of what we'd seen on the news, so much of what we'd been told, was complete garbage, right?
00:31:12.000 You know, complete garbage, right?
00:31:13.000 I mean, and I thought, and I'm from Northern Ireland,
00:31:18.000 And I've always known in Britain is a thing called verbatim theater, where they take a court case or a tribunal of inquiry, like the Bloody Sunday.
00:31:27.000 So it's a Bloody Sunday massacre.
00:31:28.000 They had a two year tribunal of inquiry into it.
00:31:31.000 And a playwright took the best stories about Bloody Sunday of why witnesses and made them into a play was hugely successful, ran the West End for weeks and weeks, months.
00:31:40.000 And I thought, and that's that's a British thing that's been well known.
00:31:43.000 So I thought this is the perfect vehicle for a verbatim play where
00:31:49.000 You don't change one paragraph, one sentence, one comma, and it's basically everything that happened to Michael Brown in the three hours leading up to his death from multiple eyewitness accounts.
00:32:01.000 It's beautiful, actually.
00:32:02.000 It's literally one woman saying, I saw him walk around the corner, and then the next woman saying, he came around the corner.
00:32:10.000 I mean, it was on in the Odyssey Theatre in Santa Monica, and I was watching the audience.
00:32:15.000 The audience were actually leaning forward to listen, not wanting to miss a word, because the great thing about verbatim play is that you know every word that was said by those people on that stage was said by an actual live human being, and they don't want, literally don't want to miss a word.
00:32:31.000 And it drives the left nuts because the fact is that you did it as verbatim theater, meaning that you didn't add anything, you didn't subtract.
00:32:37.000 I mean, you edited, obviously, but you didn't add anything.
00:32:40.000 You didn't make anything up.
00:32:41.000 And so they can't claim that you just biased the case against Michael Brown, for example, or for Darren Wilson.
00:32:47.000 And so you had a problem.
00:32:48.000 It was a big media story at the time, but people may not have heard it.
00:32:51.000 You had a big problem with your own cast because there are a lot of people who signed up to be in the cast and then realized, wait a second, this isn't the story we thought we were getting.
00:32:58.000 Yeah.
00:32:59.000 You know, there's a lot of talk about diversity in Hollywood and in the entertainment industry.
00:33:05.000 I had a play where 10 of the characters were black, were African American.
00:33:11.000 And we had 13, a cast of 13, 9 of, I can't remember how many were black, but
00:33:16.000 Before, in the weeks running up to it, nine members of the Thirteen cast dropped out because they felt the play, the truth, didn't match what they thought the truth should be.
00:33:28.000 And these were black voices.
00:33:32.000 These were black voices telling the story of importance to the black community.
00:33:35.000 And it was verbatim.
00:33:37.000 And they were doing it under oath.
00:33:39.000 That's amazing.
00:34:02.000 Well, it just shows the massive gap that has now been created between narrative and truth.
00:34:06.000 That if the facts don't back up your narrative, you just get rid of the facts and pretend the facts don't exist.
00:34:11.000 And you were called a racist for putting this thing up.
00:34:13.000 It was suggested that you were out to get Michael Brown and smear his memory because of all of this.
00:34:19.000 I was compared to the KKK, actually.
00:34:23.000 Me, I'm a Northern Ireland Catholic.
00:34:27.000 If you want to know about the treatment of minority communities, just be a Catholic in Northern Ireland growing up in the 70s and 80s.
00:34:34.000 You'll get a
00:34:36.000 We're good to go.
00:34:59.000 It's not, you know, in this thing of, you know, he said, she said.
00:35:03.000 Well, let's go and look at the truth and let's look at what the witnesses said under severe questioning, what they said when they were confronted with forensic evidence.
00:35:10.000 Lots of them said things, but when they got in there and they had to confront the evidence, they all crumbled.
00:35:16.000 Every single one of them.
00:35:18.000 And it's...
00:35:19.000 Anyone who's watched this play, and, you know, I urge them to watch it on the Daily Wire.
00:35:23.000 We've filmed it now.
00:35:24.000 It's a staged reading, and we had a staged reading.
00:35:26.000 I couldn't afford it on a full play, so it's a staged reading.
00:35:29.000 But I think it gives it more verbatim feeling because you see people actually reading from the testimony.
00:35:35.000 And, you know, anyone who's watched it says, I've just realised, I've just found out about 10 things that I never knew about Ferguson.
00:35:42.000 And it's an amazing thing, because obviously this launched the Black Lives Matter movement, you had President Obama sending emissaries to Michael Brown's funeral, him saying this is the experience of the normal black person in America, and all of that is debunked in this play, which again, you'll be able to see on dailywire.com exclusively.
00:35:58.000 We're really excited about releasing it.
00:36:00.000 So, when this first came out, how did the critics meet it?
00:36:02.000 I mean, did they actually review it honestly, or did they just say they didn't like what the actual testimony was?
00:36:08.000 To be fair to the critics, they reviewed it pretty honestly.
00:36:12.000 Now, a lot of them reviewed it without reviewing it, if you know what I mean?
00:36:15.000 They neutrally wrote about it without saying whether it was true.
00:36:18.000 And I always know when they do that, the truth is something they don't want to acknowledge, so they won't go there.
00:36:25.000 So they wrote about it and said it was very controversial, and it's happening, and this person did that, but they don't tell you what the truth is, right?
00:36:33.000 However, to be fair, something like LA Weekly, they reviewed it fairly.
00:36:38.000 Yeah.
00:36:39.000 They said it's an incendiary piece of theatre.
00:36:42.000 And it's only incendiary because it destroys what they believe.
00:36:46.000 But he was fair enough to admit that, right?
00:36:48.000 And he didn't call it dishonest.
00:36:49.000 It's not dishonest.
00:36:50.000 It's all there.
00:36:51.000 And some people said, oh, it's edited.
00:36:54.000 It's edited.
00:36:54.000 We can't believe it.
00:36:55.000 Look, if you're reading a
00:36:57.000 Let's say a big piece on Ferguson, 1,200 words, which is a big piece in journalism now, that's an edited version of Ferguson down to 1,200 words.
00:37:06.000 I've edited Ferguson down to an hour and 15 minutes, an hour and a half.
00:37:10.000 That's the least unedited thing about Ferguson in the history of Ferguson.
00:37:15.000 It's the most comprehensive analysis of what happened
00:37:18.000 In that hour or two before Michael Brown was shot dead.
00:37:24.000 So there's more information in there than you will get in any newspaper anywhere on the planet or any blog on the planet.
00:37:30.000 So what are you hoping the impact of Ferguson the play putting it out on video now, what are you hoping the impact will be?
00:37:36.000 Because the Black Lives Matter movement is obviously the cat out of the bag at this point.
00:37:39.000 They're shutting down Trump rallies.
00:37:40.000 They're threatening people.
00:37:42.000 It's a pretty egregious movement.
00:37:44.000 What do you hope to accomplish with it?
00:37:45.000 You know, actually, I don't hope to accomplish anything.
00:37:48.000 You know, I just wanted to get it out there.
00:37:49.000 Right.
00:37:50.000 I want as many people as possible to confront the truth about this.
00:37:54.000 And I would hope that the truth will be known.
00:37:58.000 And I would hope that somebody somewhere will take it and put it on in New York and put it on in L.A.
00:38:03.000 again.
00:38:03.000 It was a staged reading here.
00:38:04.000 Put on a proper performance.
00:38:06.000 I just want this to grow and grow.
00:38:08.000 So, you know,
00:38:09.000 Look, it's up to politicians to take it.
00:38:11.000 But, you know, I want politicians to watch it.
00:38:16.000 There's so many conservatives nowadays, sometimes end up adopting the liberal view of things, like on equal pay.
00:38:26.000 I remember the debate, oh, we have to, you know, pay, women are paid $85 cents on the dollar, whatever it was, you know.
00:38:33.000 And it's like, that's a liberal talking point that's not actually true.
00:38:37.000 But it's become so true that they feel they have to start there to go forward.
00:38:41.000 And it's like,
00:38:42.000 Well, it's not true.
00:38:43.000 So I want to change the starting point.
00:38:45.000 Even if only Conservatives watch it, that's fine.
00:38:49.000 They will understand.
00:38:50.000 They'll have something to talk about.
00:38:51.000 They'll realise the truth.
00:38:53.000 I hope Liberals watch it.
00:38:54.000 I hope Independents watch it.
00:38:55.000 But I just felt it was important to get the truth out there and try and seed something that that truth keeps cascading through.
00:39:06.000 Well, folks who are wondering where the Hands Up, Don't Shoot myth came from and why it exactly is wrong, this is the play that you're going to want to watch.
00:39:14.000 This is the stirring rebuke to the false narrative that was put out by the left about Michael Brown that turned into a racial conflagration that has major consequences for the country.
00:39:23.000 The massive crime wave we're seeing in major cities, people call it the Ferguson effect because of
00:39:27.000 Absolutely.
00:39:27.000 We'll do it again.
00:39:47.000 It's really fantastic.
00:39:48.000 You should check it out at dailywire.com.
00:39:50.000 Okay, time for a quick thing that I like.
00:39:52.000 I don't really need things I hate today, I think, because I think the entire show has basically been things that I truly, truly despise.
00:40:00.000 First and foremost, the disdain for the truth shown in allegiance to an idol.
00:40:04.000 I don't like idol worship, and Trump has become an idol.
00:40:07.000 The thing that I like today is a book basically about the idol worship of the left and how that has come to become such a prominent part of American life.
00:40:14.000 It's a book called The Long March by Roger Kimball.
00:40:16.000 Really, really good book.
00:40:17.000 I've been working my way through it.
00:40:18.000 It's a bit of an old book, about 10 years old.
00:40:20.000 Roger Kimball is somebody with whom I am friendly, and this book is quite brilliant.
00:40:25.000 It really traces the rise of the intellectual left and how they defeated the liberals in America, how the left took over for the liberals and destroyed leftism and liberalism from the inside to create what we see now, an unworkable left that really wants to rip away at the roots of what America stands for.
00:40:41.000 So that's it.
00:40:42.000 That's the thing that I like for today.
00:40:43.000 Check it out.
00:40:43.000 The Long March by Roger Kimball.
00:40:45.000 We will be back tomorrow with the latest controversy, and we will always be here fighting for a truth, regardless of whether it hurts our numbers, regardless of whether it hurts our ratings, because it turns out that truth is more important than whether people who don't want to hear the truth like us or not.
00:41:00.000 As I'm fond of saying, facts don't care about your feelings, and facts on tape certainly
00:41:04.000 Don't care about your feelings, your warm-hearted feelings, your sexually frustrated feelings for Donald Trump, and neither do I. I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:41:12.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
