00:00:27.000Fascinating moments yesterday at this hearing.
00:00:29.000Representative Brandon Gill of Texas was questioning the Smithsonian director, a person named Anthea Hartig.
00:00:34.000About a July 2020 Smithsonian display, which suggested that there were many aspects and assumptions of whiteness and white culture in the United States.
00:00:44.000Things that were labeled white by the Smithsonian included, among other things, things like work ethic and timeliness and responsibility.
00:00:55.000So apparently, David Duke wrote the outlet for this particular poster for the Smithsonian.
00:01:00.000So Brandon Gill asked the Smithsonian director what was going on with that post.
00:01:17.000It's also interesting because the same mass action toolkit that your organization has been promoting references politeness as a defining characteristic of white supremacy culture.
00:01:35.000Can you help me square why your organization says that being polite is part of being a white supremacist?
00:01:43.000I'm not exactly familiar with that passage of the Mass Action Toolkit, which is not, I can show you the passage from the Mass Action Toolkit here.
00:02:10.000So, in this hearing, the topic of this bizarre Bizarre display from the National Museum for African American History at the Smithsonian came out.
00:02:19.000We went over it in some detail when it first came out.
00:02:21.000It was titled Aspects and Assumptions of Whiteness and White Culture in the United States.
00:02:25.000And it said, White dominant culture or whiteness refers to the ways white people and their traditions, attitudes, and ways of life have been normalized over time and are now considered standard practices in the United States.
00:02:36.000And since white people, said the Smithsonian, still hold most of the institutional power in America, we have all internalized some aspects of white culture, including people of color.
00:02:45.000What are some of these aspects of white culture?
00:02:47.000Things like rugged individualism, self reliance, in which individuals are assumed to be in control of their own environment.
00:02:55.000That's a white people thing, apparently, according to this Smithsonian display.
00:03:00.000Family structure, the nuclear family, father mother, 2.3 children is the ideal social unit.
00:03:05.000Husband is breadwinner and head of household.
00:03:08.000Children should have their own rooms and be independent.
00:03:10.000The emphasis on the scientific method, like objective and rational linear thinking.
00:03:15.000Apparently, this is just a white people thing.
00:03:19.000I mean, I wonder what they would have made of like Al Farabi and the fact that, you know, there was an enormous amount of thought on scientific matters in the Middle East a thousand years ago.
00:03:31.000History, because there's a heavy focus on the British Empire and the primacy of Western and Judeo Christian tradition, as opposed to what?
00:03:42.000There are large segments of the world that did not keep documentary records of history for long segments of time, by the way.
00:03:47.000The Protestant work ethic is a white people thing, in which hard work is the key to success and you're supposed to work before you play.
00:03:53.000And if you didn't meet your goals, you didn't work hard enough.
00:06:39.000So I was rooting pretty hard for Argentina.
00:06:40.000Plus, I have a bunch of friends from Argentina.
00:06:42.000So I was rooting pretty hard for Argentina.
00:06:44.000Also, I think that the leader of Spain is a gigantic jackass and sides with radical Islam at every available turn and hates the West and all the rest.
00:06:51.000So, you know, there are a lot of reasons I was rooting for Argentina.
00:06:54.000According to Jasmine Crockett, everyone who's rooting for Argentina was a racist.
00:06:58.000So if you're rooting for Spain, you were not a racist.
00:09:12.000Galaxy brain stuff happening there from Jasmine Crockett.
00:09:15.000Honestly, it's a pity that she wasn't the nominee in Texas.
00:09:18.000I would have enjoyed an entire campaign of making fun of Jasmine Crockett, but she's still in Congress, so we can do that for years to come.
