The Ben Shapiro Show - Like A Phoenix From The Ashes | Ep. 368

00:00:00.000 President Trump goes to Phoenix and things get wild.

00:00:03.000 ESPN decides that it has to shuttle away some Asian-American dude named Robert Lee because they don't want to offend people over the Confederacy. 0.99

00:00:11.000 And the media does something so stupid that it may get Trump reelected. 0.99

00:00:15.000 I'm Ben Shapiro. 1.00

00:00:16.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.

00:00:23.000 Okay so I can't wait to discuss this ESPN story because it just demonstrates why no one is watching MSNBC with footballs ever again, why they are dying, why they deserve to go.

00:00:31.000 It's really horrifying.

00:00:32.000 Plus we'll go through in detail President Trump's barn burner of a speech in Phoenix, Arizona last night.

00:00:37.000 It was chock full of insanity and fun and joy and weirdness.

00:00:42.000 It was all the things that make those who love Trump love Trump and all those who hate Trump hate Trump.

00:00:46.000 It was all of those things and more and the media

00:00:49.000 Falls right into his trap every single time.

00:00:51.000 We'll talk about all of those things, plus my favorite video ever of a protester at any rally.

00:00:56.000 We'll play that.

00:00:57.000 I may have to start off with that one, but before we even get to that, I first wanna say thank you to our sponsors over at Helix Sleep.

00:01:02.000 So, as I've told you a thousand times on this program, I am bad at sleep.

00:01:06.000 It is one of the few things in life I'm bad at.

00:01:08.000 I'm amazing at everything, but I suck at sleep.

00:01:10.000 Sleep is just not my thing, until I got this Helix Sleep mattress.

00:01:14.000 So, Helix Sleep allows you to go on their website, helixsleep.com,

00:01:18.000 And you fill out their survey, which is basically, you know, which side do you like to sleep on?

00:01:22.000 Do you sleep on your stomach or your back?

00:01:23.000 Do you like the mattress to be breathable?

00:01:25.000 Do you like to be hard or soft?

00:01:26.000 And then they run it through their proprietary algorithm and they send you directly to your house their mattress.

00:01:31.000 You take it out of the box, you take it out of the plastic, and it inflates right in front of you because it's foam.

00:01:35.000 And you pop it on the bed and you're good to go.

00:01:37.000 It is supremely comfortable.

00:01:38.000 So comfortable, in fact, that we took what is a more expensive mattress and moved it out of our room and moved it into the other room.

00:01:44.000 You can even get mattresses that have different settings for two sides of the bed.

00:01:47.000 So for you and your spouse, if you have different levels of firmness or softness on the mattress that you enjoy, Helix Sleep will allow you to do that as well.

00:01:56.000 Also, you have 100 nights to try it out.

00:01:58.000 If you don't like it, they'll pick it up for free and give you a 100% refund, so you have nothing to lose.

00:02:02.000 Plus, the mattresses

00:02:03.000 I don't know.

00:02:31.000 There's so many great stories today to get to.

00:02:33.000 I think I'm going to have to start with this story from ESPN because it's so insane.

00:02:36.000 So ESPN yesterday announced that they're broadcasting some college football game from the University of Virginia.

00:02:42.000 Now as you recall, the situation in Charlottesville happened at the University of Virginia campus in Charlottesville.

00:02:48.000 And so they were going to broadcast this game, this football game, University of Virginia, and one of the announcer's names is an Asian guy named Robert Lee.

00:02:56.000 That's the name of one of the announcers.

00:02:58.000 ESPN announced that they would not allow Robert Lee to announce the game because his name is like Robert E. Lee, and they were afraid people might be offended by his name.

00:03:08.000 No, I am not joking.

00:03:10.000 He's an Asian guy named Robert Lee.

00:03:12.000 Okay, like, you might be able to tell these two people apart.

00:03:15.000 This is 15.

00:03:16.000 Okay, you might be able to tell these two people apart, Robert E. Lee and Robert Lee.

00:03:21.000 Okay, you might actually be able to see the difference between them.

00:03:25.000 It's rather striking.

00:03:27.000 They do not look the same in any way, because, um, yeah. 1.00

00:03:33.000 Yeah, if you get these two mixed up, it's because you're stupid. 0.98

00:03:35.000 First of all, I think the great mistake here by ESPN is assuming the college students know who Robert E. Lee is. 0.99

00:03:39.000 They have no clue who Robert E. Lee is.

00:03:41.000 But in any case, the idea that we can't have a guy named Robert Lee, an Asian guy, announce a football game because he has the same name as Robert E. Lee is totally insane.

00:03:49.000 It's totally insane.

00:03:50.000 But demonstrative of why people have stopped watching ESPN, because ESPN, this is not

00:03:55.000 All people.

00:03:56.000 ESPN has a lot of challenges from online, from the fact that you can see clips of your favorite games without having to watch through an hour of SportsCenter like you did when I was a kid.

00:04:04.000 But, one of the reasons that ESPN is losing viewers is because they are so damn politically correct.

00:04:08.000 And this is just another piece of that puzzle.

00:04:11.000 ESPN released a statement from Appomattox Courthouse, apparently.

00:04:14.000 They said,

00:04:34.000 I said this wasn't about offending anyone.

00:04:36.000 It was about the reasonable possibility that because of his name he would be subjected to memes and jokes and who knows what else.

00:04:41.000 Think about it.

00:04:42.000 Robert Lee comes to town to do a game in Charlottesville.

00:04:44.000 The reaction to our switching a young anonymous play-by-play guy for a streamed ATC game is off the charts.

00:04:50.000 Reasonable proof that the meme joke possibility was real.

00:04:52.000 Okay, fine.

00:04:52.000 So there were going to be some memes and jokes.

00:04:54.000 Who cares?

00:04:55.000 It would have been funny.

00:04:56.000 Calm down, everyone. 0.86

00:04:57.000 It wasn't like Asian announcer of college football, Robert Lee, was coming to town because he wanted to re-enslave all the black people. 0.88

00:05:05.000 That wasn't a thing.

00:05:06.000 And they say,

00:05:25.000 It's just insane.

00:05:44.000 Just insane.

00:05:45.000 I love that the left has been saying, President Trump is totally crazy when he says that we would want to remove things like George Washington statues or Thomas Jefferson statues.

00:05:54.000 How dare Donald Trump suggest that we would go overboard with this stuff?

00:05:58.000 You just banned an Asian guy named Robert Lee from announcing a game in Charlottesville because he has the same name as Robert E. Lee. 1.00

00:06:06.000 It's almost as stupid. 1.00

00:06:07.000 In fact, I think it's even dumber. 1.00

00:06:09.000 The Oregon School Board wants to remove the name Lynch from various buildings because they're named after people whose last name is Lynch, not after lynching, but they think it might be offensive. 0.93

00:06:19.000 You know who else would be offended by this?

00:06:20.000 Maybe Loretta Lynch, the black former Attorney General under Barack Obama, or Marshawn Lynch, the black running back for the Seattle Seahawks. 0.99

00:06:28.000 But apparently we're now so stupid that we can't tell the difference between this dude and this dude. 0.87

00:06:33.000 We can't tell the difference between Robert Lee and Robert E. Lee even though they live two centuries apart and look nothing like one another and do not share an ethnicity or apparently a middle initial. 0.77

00:06:44.000 So, pretty amazing work ESPN.

00:06:46.000 The same network that tells you that Caitlyn Jenner is the apotheosis of heroism, Caitlyn Jenner who has not been athletically relevant since before I was born and gushed over Colin Kaepernick and spent time saying how Colin Kaepernick must, must, must be put on the playing field and they had several announcers this week suggest the national anthem just shouldn't be played at games so that black people in the NFL wouldn't have the burden of trying to kneel during the anthem.

00:07:08.000 You wonder why people are tuning out your network? 1.00

00:07:10.000 It's because you're all morons. 1.00

00:07:11.000 That's why they're tuning out your network. 1.00

00:07:12.000 Okay, so with that as backdrop, we can now discuss President Trump's speech in Phoenix.

00:07:16.000 You wonder why things are so politicized? 0.99

00:07:18.000 It's because the nitpicking, the stupidity, the minor point making on both sides has just reached epic fever pitch. 0.99

00:07:25.000 And it really is amazing and horrifying. 1.00

00:07:28.000 So Trump goes to Phoenix to speak.

00:07:29.000 And there's a lot of hubbub in the streets about Trump speaking.

00:07:33.000 Some protesters show up to yell at the people who are coming in, and they get violent, and they get terrible.

00:07:41.000 I do want to show you one clip of the—this is the greatest clip of a protester I've ever seen.

00:07:44.000 This is one protester who decides to kick a gas canister back at the police officers, and things go wildly wrong from this clip 9.

00:07:55.000 This is pretty amazing stuff.

00:07:58.000 I will never get over loving this.

00:08:01.000 We're good to go.

00:08:16.000 Down he goes!

00:08:18.000 Down he goes!

00:08:19.000 And there goes the dude with the Kaepernick jersey doing better blocking work than Colin Kaepernick has done in years.

00:08:25.000 Pulling the guy off the street.

00:08:27.000 I'm sorry, we're gonna need to see that again because it was just too wonderful.

00:08:30.000 I'm sorry, that's spectacular.

00:08:32.000 I loved it.

00:08:33.000 You just saw one of the protesters go up there and actually kick a can of that. 0.99

00:08:39.000 Boom, just takes it right in the crotch. 1.00

00:08:42.000 And then here comes Colin Kaepernick to save him. 0.95

00:08:44.000 Note for the national anthem.

00:08:45.000 And now he's gonna drag him up off the street.

00:08:50.000 Okay, I have an army full of loyal listeners who like making videos like this.

00:08:55.000 Okay, I need someone to- I need someone to cut a video of this with the music, with the- with the- I can't remember the- the name of the song is I Will Always Love You.

00:09:03.000 I need- I need dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun and then right as it hits me in the crotch, I need and I-

00:09:09.000 I will always love you. 0.98

00:09:11.000 That's what I need.

00:09:11.000 I need that.

00:09:12.000 So if you do that, I will tweet it out because that will be amazing.

00:09:14.000 Thanks, guys. 0.94

00:09:15.000 Okay, so I just had to show that because a little lighthearted revelry never hurt anyone except right in the balls. 0.94

00:09:20.000 So that's pretty spectacular.

00:09:22.000 So Trump is speaking inside the arena, and his speech is, wow.

00:09:28.000 General John Kelly.

00:09:32.000 I'm sorry, this is all amazing.

00:09:34.000 General John Kelly was the guy who's Trump's new chief of staff and he's got to be like Tom in from Game of Thrones at this point, just like walking over to that window and taking a header because my goodness, my goodness.

00:09:45.000 He was supposed to have Trump under control.

00:09:47.000 Trump gives what I thought was quite a good speech on Afghanistan.

00:09:49.000 I critiqued it yesterday on the program.

00:09:51.000 I talked at length about why I thought that Trump was doing a lot of the right things in Afghanistan.

00:09:56.000 And then Trump was like, you know what?

00:09:57.000 I can't look like I know what I'm doing.

00:09:59.000 Boom.

00:09:59.000 And then he goes to Phoenix and he just starts ranting.

00:10:01.000 Now, what's amazing is that the media will always pull Trump's chestnuts out of the fire. 0.99

00:10:06.000 No matter what Trump does, the media will always do something stupider. 0.98

00:10:09.000 It's just, call it the Shapiro law of the media. 0.99

00:10:12.000 No matter what Trump does, the media will do something dumber that eventually forces people right back into Trump's corner.

00:10:18.000 And that's sort of what happened yesterday. 0.77

00:10:20.000 So I want to get to all of that.

00:10:21.000 But before I do, I first want to say thank you to our sponsors over at Quip.

00:10:26.000 There are a lot of recent studies suggesting that if you have good oral health, that impacts your overall health.

00:10:29.000 That if you have plaque on your teeth, that may lead to plaque in your heart.

00:10:32.000 You may have higher rates of heart disease.

00:10:35.000 This is why I use Quip.

00:10:36.000 Quip is a new company refreshing the way people brush their teeth.

00:10:39.000 It's an electronic toothbrush, an electric toothbrush that packs premium vibration and timer features

00:10:43.000 It's not one of those things where you carry it around and it's like 8 pounds.

00:10:47.000 It really is slim.

00:10:48.000 It feels just like a regular toothbrush.

00:10:51.000 It's battery powered.

00:10:52.000 It's like Apple designed a toothbrush but without the big price tag.

00:10:55.000 You can subscribe to Quip and receive a new brush head on a dentist recommended 3 month plan for just $5 including free shipping.

00:11:02.000 Which is awesome too because very often I've had an electric toothbrush for a while but you forget when to replace the actual brush head and so you're now 3 years into that brush head that was supposed to last you 3 months and you're brushing your teeth with all of your old plaque.

00:11:13.000 Quip prevents that by actually sending you a new brush head every three months when you pay five dollars.

00:11:19.000 That's the dentist recommended plan.

00:11:21.000 They are backed by leading dentists and they were named as Time Magazine's Best Inventions of 2016.

00:11:26.000 Right now go to getquip.com slash Shapiro.

00:11:28.000 Get your first refill pack free with a Quip electric toothbrush.

00:11:32.000 That is getquip.com.

00:11:34.000 We're good to go!

00:11:54.000 Absolutely free with the Quip electric toothbrush.

00:11:56.000 I love this product.

00:11:57.000 I use it morning and evening.

00:11:58.000 It is fantastic.

00:11:59.000 Brush your teeth twice a day, people.

00:12:01.000 It's good oral hygiene and use Quip to do it.

00:12:03.000 Getquip.com slash Shapiro.

00:12:06.000 Go ahead and check it out.

00:12:07.000 Okay, so now we finally get to the drama and the wonder of this Trump speech in Phoenix.

00:12:12.000 So...

00:12:13.000 Trump starts off and he's on teleprompter.

00:12:16.000 And the amusing thing about President Trump is you can certainly tell when he's off teleprompter because the difference between Trump on teleprompter and Trump off teleprompter is stark and amazing.

00:12:25.000 So here's Trump on teleprompter talking about the LRV, right?

00:12:28.000 He's doing the routine that all these presidents do.

00:12:31.000 Bush did it.

00:12:32.000 Obama did it.

00:12:33.000 How?

00:12:33.000 Mine is a movement of LRV.

00:12:35.000 It's love, people.

00:12:36.000 Love.

00:12:37.000 L-U-V-E-I-N-G. 1.00

00:12:40.000 L-U-V-E-ING. 1.00

00:12:41.000 I love it.

00:12:42.000 Go.

00:12:43.000 Our movement is a movement built on love.

00:12:47.000 It's love for fellow citizens.

00:12:49.000 It's love for struggling Americans who've been left behind.

00:13:13.000 Okay, here he goes, talking about all the people he doesn't love.

00:13:18.000 What happened in Charlottesville strikes at the core of America.

00:13:25.000 And tonight, this entire arena stands united in forceful condemnation of the thugs who perpetrate hatred and violence.

00:13:36.000 But the very dishonest media, those people right up there with all the cameras.

00:13:43.000 And I mean truly dishonest people in the media and the fake media.

00:13:48.000 They make up stories.

00:13:50.000 They have no sources in many cases.

00:13:52.000 They say a source says there is no such thing.

00:13:55.000 But they don't report the facts.

00:13:58.000 Just like they don't want to report that I spoke out forcefully against hatred, bigotry, and violence, and strongly condemned the neo-Nazis, the white supremacists, and the KKK. 0.99

00:14:13.000 Okay, so Trump now feels the need to re-litigate his entire Charlottesville response, which, again, is really stupid politics. 0.99

00:14:19.000 He just did. 0.95

00:14:20.000 I mean, this is now the third time.

00:14:23.000 Second time.

00:14:23.000 This is the second time he has now swiveled back on the Charlottesville response.

00:14:26.000 So he gave the proper Charlottesville response a week ago yesterday, right?

00:14:32.000 He gave it on the Monday before last Monday.

00:14:34.000 He gave the proper Charlottesville response, which was the statement about white supremacists and the KKK and neo-Nazis, and the next day he did his crazy press conference where he talked about what is the alt-right.

00:14:42.000 I don't know.

00:14:43.000 Does anyone know?

00:14:44.000 Who knows?

00:14:44.000 How to spell it?

00:14:45.000 And then he did the routine about, very fine people.

00:14:47.000 Right, you remember?

00:14:48.000 He did all of this.

00:14:49.000 And then, on Monday, he did his speech about Afghanistan.

00:14:52.000 We're like, okay, we're done with this.

00:14:53.000 Okay, we can move on with the news cycle.

00:14:55.000 But no!

00:14:56.000 Now in Phoenix, he feels the need to re-litigate this.

00:14:58.000 And he re-litigated it dishonestly, okay?

00:15:00.000 I'm just gonna be honest about this.

00:15:01.000 The way that Trump re-litigated this thing is he read his original statement, but he left off the key words.

00:15:06.000 So he said that he had condemned the egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence.

00:15:10.000 Here is Trump trying to rehash this case.

00:15:13.000 But he leaves off a few key words.

00:15:15.000 It's cause you know where my heart is.

00:15:17.000 Okay. 0.99

00:15:21.000 I'm really doing this to show you how damn dishonest these people are. 0.98

00:15:25.000 So here is my first statement when I heard about Charlottesville. 0.97

00:15:31.000 And I have a home in Charlottesville.

00:15:32.000 A lot of people don't know.

00:15:35.000 Here's the first.

00:15:36.000 Can't believe they haven't figured that one out yet.

00:15:38.000 Now they know.

00:15:40.000 Now they finally know.

00:15:43.000 But I just, I don't want to bore you with this, but it shows you how dishonest they are.

00:15:48.000 And most of you know this anyway.

00:15:50.000 So here's what I said, really fast, here's what I said on Saturday.

00:15:55.000 We're closely following the terrible events unfolding in Charlottesville, Virginia.

00:15:59.000 This is me speaking.

00:16:00.000 We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence.

00:16:08.000 Okay, and then he stopped there.

00:16:09.000 Do you remember what he said next in his original press conference?

00:16:13.000 He said, on many sides, on many sides.

00:16:16.000 That was the entire controversy.

00:16:18.000 Legitimately, the entire controversy were the words that he just failed to read from the piece of paper.

00:16:22.000 Okay, so he's re-litigating this, and the purpose of him re-litigating this is because not a lot really unifies the Republican Party at this point.

00:16:28.000 There are disagreements over foreign policy on Afghanistan.

00:16:31.000 There are disagreements on immigration.

00:16:32.000 There are disagreements on taxes.

00:16:33.000 There are disagreements on infrastructure.

00:16:35.000 There are disagreements on reconciliation versus attempting to ram through bills without reconciliation. 0.96

00:16:41.000 There are disagreements on virtually every issue under the sun, but there is not a lot of disagreement on the right side of the aisle that the media suck. 0.67

00:16:46.000 And the reason that people think the media suck is because they respond emotionally to everything. 0.98

00:16:50.000 They respond emotionally.

00:16:51.000 So this is where Trump is really going.

00:16:54.000 He decided to make the focus of this speech attacks on the media and attacks on Antifa, two things that the Republicans and conservatives rightly dislike.

00:17:01.000 OK, here is Trump going after Antifa.

00:17:04.000 It's pretty spectacular, actually.

00:17:07.000 You know, they show up in the helmets and the black masks and they've got clubs and they've got everything.

00:17:13.000 Antifa! 0.95

00:17:17.000 Antifa! 0.95

00:17:18.000 Okay, you know, I was going to do it in Things I Like, but now I'm just going to have to take a swift break here and do it now.

00:17:24.000 This cannot be beat.

00:17:25.000 This is President Trump's Antifa song.

00:17:28.000 How did he get in here?

00:17:30.000 He's supposed to be with a few people outside.

00:17:32.000 How about all week we're talking about the massive crowds that are going to be outside.

00:17:51.000 And they've got gloves and they've got everything.

00:17:54.000 Antifa! 0.95

00:18:02.000 You know, I was a good student.

00:18:31.000 I always hear about the elite.

00:18:32.000 You know, the elite.

00:18:33.000 They're elite.

00:18:34.000 I went to better schools than they did.

00:18:35.000 I was a better student than they were.

00:18:38.000 I live in a bigger, more beautiful apartment.

00:18:41.000 And I live in the White House, too, which is really great.

00:18:49.000 I think, you know what?

00:18:50.000 I think we're the elites.

00:18:51.000 They're not the elites.

00:18:53.000 That's what I think.

00:18:53.000 What do you think, guys?

00:18:55.000 Are they the elites?

00:18:55.000 And Imbrud's like, wait a second, you've been ripping on the elites for like years, but what now?

00:18:58.000 And he's like, but I don't care. 0.98

00:19:00.000 Because poop on them. 1.00

00:19:01.000 You see?

00:19:02.000 Poop. 1.00

00:19:02.000 It comes out of your butt. 1.00

00:19:03.000 Right on them. 1.00

00:19:06.000 It's so great.

00:19:06.000 Okay, and then he goes even further.

00:19:08.000 Then he gets to the real meat of the matter.

00:19:09.000 He gets angry, and he starts talking about the media.

00:19:11.000 Throughout the speech, he keeps saying that the media are turning off the cameras.

00:19:14.000 He keeps saying, oh, in the back, they're turning off the cameras.

00:19:16.000 They won't show the crowds.

00:19:17.000 He says, CNN cut off the cameras.

00:19:20.000 People are watching him say this on CNN.

00:19:23.000 Okay, so clearly not true.

00:19:24.000 And then he's saying they won't show the crowds.

00:19:26.000 Every feed is showing the crowd, every single one.

00:19:29.000 But people on my side, people on the right, we don't care about that because we think the media are dishonest.

00:19:34.000 And as I will say, the Shapiro rule will begin to apply in just a moment because I'll show you how the media blew this wide open in ridiculous fashion.

00:19:41.000 But here is Trump saying the media are unpatriotic. 0.95

00:19:44.000 These are really, really dishonest people. 0.81

00:19:48.000 And they're bad people. 0.92

00:19:49.000 And I really think they don't like our country.

00:19:52.000 I really believe that.

00:19:54.000 And I don't believe they're going to change, and that's why I do this.

00:19:57.000 If they would change, I would never say it.

00:19:59.000 The only people giving a platform to these hate groups is the media itself and the fake news.

00:20:09.000 Oh, that's so funny.

00:20:10.000 Look back there.

00:20:13.000 The live red lights, they're turning those suckers off fast out there.

00:20:17.000 Okay, except that they weren't.

00:20:19.000 And you see all the people laughing and cheering.

00:20:21.000 Oh, it's so true!

00:20:22.000 None of it was true.

00:20:22.000 Okay, it wasn't true at all.

00:20:24.000 And then he talked about his favorite media outlets, right?

00:20:26.000 So of course, of course. 0.97

00:20:28.000 See, this is what's so stupid, is that I think that there are people at Fox who are trying to do a good job in covering the president. 0.96

00:20:33.000 It doesn't help them when the president endorses them any more than it would have helped MSNBC for Barack Obama to endorse their coverage. 0.98

00:20:39.000 If you think that Fox is doing a good job, Mr. President,

00:20:43.000 But no, he feels the need to talk about Fox, and Fox is treating him fairly, but everyone else is very mean to him.

00:20:48.000 And who are the fairest of all the fairest people?

00:20:50.000 You guessed it, Sean Hannity.

00:20:52.000 You have some great networks.

00:20:55.000 I must tell you, Fox has treated me fairly.

00:20:58.000 Fox treated me fairly.

00:21:04.000 They've treated me fairly.

00:21:06.000 Hey, I'll let you know.

00:21:08.000 You know what?

00:21:09.000 Someday they might not treat me fairly, and I'll tell you about it, okay?

00:21:13.000 But they've treated me fairly, and I don't mean all good.

00:21:16.000 I get plenty of bad on Fox, too.

00:21:18.000 But at least it's within reason.

00:21:20.000 And Hannity, how good is Hannity, he said.

00:21:25.000 The rumor, by the way, is that Trump speaks with Hannity almost every evening.

00:21:29.000 That is an ongoing rumor in sort of media circles.

00:21:32.000 Okay, so all of this is to say that Trump is now trying to throw a punch at the media because, number one, he feels that the media is unfair to him, but number two, because he understands that what unifies the Republican Party right now is not policy, it's not him, it's not the Congress.

00:21:45.000 What unifies him is this oppositional feel toward the media.

00:21:49.000 Now, the thing is that Trump actually did make some news in this speech.

00:21:52.000 It wasn't just him railing against the media in typical Trumpian fashion for half an hour.

00:21:56.000 He actually made some news.

00:21:57.000 In the middle of the speech, for example, he dumped the news that he was basically going to pardon Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who should be pardoned.

00:22:02.000 Sheriff Joe is the sheriff down in Maricopa County, very colorful guy.

00:22:06.000 He was famous for dressing all of the inmates in pink.

00:22:09.000 There was a restraining order that was put out against him suggesting he was engaging in racial profiling.

00:22:13.000 He did not believe he was engaging in racial profiling, so he kept doing what he was doing, so they jailed him for violation of a court order, and Trump is saying that he's going to pardon him, but he had said beforehand, before the speech, that he wasn't going to pardon him in front of the crowd, but then he basically said that he was going to pardon him in front of the crowd.

00:22:30.000 Do the people in this room like Sheriff Joe?

00:22:37.000 Was Sheriff Joe convicted for doing his job?

00:22:49.000 He should have had a jury, but you know what?

00:22:52.000 I'll make a prediction.

00:22:53.000 I think he's going to be just fine, okay?

00:22:56.000 Yes, that's actual news.

00:22:58.000 Okay, and then he makes more actual news.

00:22:59.000 He says that when it comes to the border wall, he's willing to countenance a government shutdown in order to get his border wall.

00:23:09.000 And we are building a wall on the southern border, which is absolutely necessary.

00:23:16.000 Build that wall.

00:23:18.000 Now, the obstructionist Democrats would like us not to do it, but believe me, if we have to close down our government, we're building that wall.

00:23:25.000 Okay, so this is all news.

00:23:26.000 There was other news that he made.

00:23:27.000 He talked about getting rid of the filibuster rule.

00:23:29.000 He talked about how he was ripping on Jeff Flake and John McCain.

00:23:33.000 Not by name, not by name, but he was ripping on all of these people.

00:23:36.000 And then he talked about how he was going to terminate NAFTA.

00:23:37.000 So there was some actual news here, but it was the media's response that was really astonishing.

00:23:41.000 And I'm going to talk about the media response in just a second.

00:23:43.000 But first, I want to say thank you to our sponsors over at USCCA.

00:23:47.000 So two years ago, there was a guy named Steve Maddox, and he was attacked by a 300-pound dude.

00:23:51.000 It took four grown men just to pull him off.

00:23:54.000 But the man was attacked again, and Steve quickly realized the only thing that was going to stop the attacker was a bullet.

00:23:59.000 But after defending himself, he was the guy who got arrested.

00:24:02.000 Sources are now reporting that after two years, a grueling trial, and hundreds of thousands of dollars, Steve was finally able to prove his innocence.

00:24:09.000 Innocence that an overzealous anti-gun DA tried to take away from him, because if Steve hadn't been able to afford a good attorney, he wouldn't just be facing a lifetime in prison, but a lifetime of financial ruin.

00:24:18.000 And that's where USCCA comes in.

00:24:20.000 For as little as $13 a month, you'll have the legal and financial protection that you need should you ever find yourself in Steve's shoes having to use a weapon to protect yourself.

00:24:27.000 Right now,

00:24:28.000 When you activate your membership, you'll be entered to win a new gun, so if you need to protect yourself and you need a gun, and you also need the resources that come after you have to fire a gun, you need to go over to defendmyfamilynow.com.

00:24:39.000 That's defendmyfamilynow.com to see how the USCCA can protect you and your family.

00:24:44.000 They offer a wide range of services from education to legal protection.

00:24:47.000 Again, that's defendmyfamilynow.com, defendmyfamilynow.com, and you will be entered to win a new gun when you register at defendmyfamilynow.com.

00:24:58.000 Just to finish up with President Trump's speech in Phoenix before we get to the insane media response, President Trump also talked about Jeff Flake, he talked about John McCain, so here he is talking, not the filibuster rule one, we'll do the next one, he talked about how he didn't want to mention any names, but clearly he means John McCain here as far as Obamacare being maintained.

00:25:22.000 One, one vote.

00:25:24.000 One vote away.

00:25:29.000 You can hear the crowd shouting McCain's name.

00:25:31.000 We were one vote away.

00:25:33.000 Think of it!

00:25:34.000 Seven years!

00:25:36.000 The Republicans, and again you have some great senators.

00:25:41.000 But we are one vote away from repealing it.

00:25:47.000 But you know,

00:25:48.000 They all said, Mr. President, your speech was so good last night.

00:25:53.000 Please, please, Mr. President, don't mention any names.

00:26:01.000 So I won't.

00:26:02.000 I won't.

00:26:05.000 This is hilarious.

00:26:06.000 All of his advisors, like John Kelly right now is going, oh my god, I told him not to do this.

00:26:10.000 And here he is attacking senators in his own party.

00:26:13.000 Arizona is a purple state now.

00:26:15.000 There are Democrats who get elected in Arizona.

00:26:17.000 If Jeff Flake or John McCain were to go down, if they were to go down to some sort of primary challenge, and then they were to lose the seat, that would be on Trump.

00:26:25.000 That's not to say there aren't decent candidates in Arizona.

00:26:27.000 There may very well be.

00:26:30.000 This attack on his own party is pretty astonishing, actually.

00:26:33.000 So all of this is news.

00:26:34.000 All of this is news.

00:26:34.000 But the media find a way to blow it.

00:26:36.000 And I'm going to talk about that in just a second.

00:26:38.000 But for that, you're going to have to go over to dailywire.com and subscribe.

00:27:33.000 We are the largest and fastest growing conservative podcast in the nation.

00:27:44.000 Okay, so the media could cover Trump's rally in a variety of ways.

00:27:47.000 They could report the news from it, the stuff about NAFTA, the stuff about the government shutdown.

00:27:51.000 They could report all of the things that he said that are material.

00:27:54.000 Instead, the media fall right into Trump's trap, because Trump's entire trap is this.

00:27:59.000 He tells Americans, hey guys, the media, they're very mean to me, they're very unfair, they lie all the time, they have a hatred, they hate you, they hate me, they hate America, they hate.

00:28:09.000 So what he's really saying is, the media are an emotional machine dedicated to my destruction.

00:28:15.000 What would the media need to do to counter that?

00:28:17.000 Well, they would need to act in dispassionate fashion.

00:28:19.000 They would need to go on TV and say, you know, President Trump gave a speech tonight, very well received by his crowd.

00:28:24.000 Here are the things he said that are factually untrue.

00:28:25.000 And then just tick them off, okay?

00:28:26.000 There are a bunch of them.

00:28:27.000 Like, in the middle of the speech, Trump said something about how clean coal is about taking coal and cleaning it.

00:28:32.000 Which doesn't even make any sense.

00:28:34.000 How do you clean coal?

00:28:35.000 Okay, clean coal is about finding new methods of mining that are cleaner for the environment.

00:28:41.000 But the media, instead of critiquing the factual points in Trump's speech, or saying, you know, President Trump is attacking the media because he's attempting to distract, but here is what the real agenda was in this particular speech.

00:28:53.000 Instead of doing that, the media just decide to go absolutely nuts.

00:28:55.000 So Don Lemon on CNN, he had a segment last night with Ana Navarro, 0.99

00:29:00.000 In which they basically sat around talking about how Trump was crazy, how Trump was a nut. 0.96

00:29:05.000 And Don Lemon did a monologue last night immediately following the speech in which he ripped President Trump up and down, talked about how President Trump was obviously unqualified, how he was trying to start a civil war. 0.95

00:29:16.000 This, of course, plays right into Trump's hands, because his entire base believes that the media are out to get Trump.

00:29:21.000 And so the more you act like this, the more you tell his base that they're right.

00:29:24.000 And how about the people who are in the middle?

00:29:26.000 The people who are in the middle just see a slap fight.

00:29:28.000 They don't necessarily side with Don Lemon over Trump, and they don't necessarily side with Trump over Don Lemon, but they look at this and they go, Trump slapping the media, the media look like they're slapping him back, it looks like a clown fight.

00:29:38.000 It looks like an old boxing match between a couple of 300 pound ladies. 1.00

00:29:45.000 I mean, that's what this looks like.

00:29:47.000 So here's Don Lemon slapping at Trump in a way that actually helps Trump.

00:29:52.000 He's unhinged?

00:29:55.000 It's embarrassing, and I don't mean for us, the media, because he went after us, but for the country.

00:30:00.000 This is who we elected President of the United States, a man who is so petty that he has to go after people who he deems to be his enemy, like an imaginary friend of a six-year-old.

00:30:11.000 His speech was without thought.

00:30:13.000 It was without reason.

00:30:14.000 It was devoid of facts.

00:30:16.000 It was devoid of wisdom.

00:30:17.000 There was no gravitas.

00:30:19.000 There was no sanity there.

00:30:20.000 He was like a child blaming a sibling on something else.

00:30:25.000 He did it.

00:30:26.000 I didn't do it.

00:30:27.000 He certainly opened up the race wound from Charlottesville.

00:30:31.000 A man clearly wounded by the rational people who are abandoning him in droves, meaning those business people and the people in Washington now who are questioning his fitness for office.

00:30:44.000 And whether he is stable.

00:30:46.000 Okay, does that sound like journalism or advocacy?

00:30:48.000 Does that help Trump or does it hurt him?

00:30:50.000 It's my view that this helps Trump.

00:30:51.000 That Trump's entire narrative is that the media are out to get him.

00:30:53.000 And when Don Lemon says all this stuff, and I'm sure Don Lemon feels all this stuff, when he says all this stuff, all it does is it grants credence to Trump's argument that this is an emotional response.

00:31:02.000 Because again, dispassionate analysis would be one thing, but that's not what you got from the media last night.

00:31:06.000 Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC actually cut into the speech in order to say that Trump is lying about the media.

00:31:12.000 If they're doing a story about me, I know if it's honest or false.

00:31:30.000 On that Saturday, we condemn in the strongest, most possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides.

00:31:40.000 On many sides.

00:31:42.000 He repeated that twice.

00:31:43.000 He did not include that just now in his quoting of himself to this audience.

00:31:49.000 He is lying to this audience about what he said, and he is lying to this audience about what the media said about what he said.

00:31:57.000 Okay, the nature of media, the nature of TV, is that your emotions come across even more than your words.

00:32:02.000 And it's obvious that Lawrence O'Donnell is very pissed, but is he pissed because Trump is lying, or is he pissed because Trump is lying about the media?

00:32:07.000 Okay, because the lie that he just said that Trump told was not a lie necessarily about the media, it was about what Trump himself said.

00:32:14.000 What it feels like, and this is when the media go wrong, the media's entire, their entire reason for being is to defend the interests of the American people.

00:32:22.000 It's to defend the transparency of an administration.

00:32:24.000 It's to bring truth to the people.

00:32:26.000 If the media feel that they themselves are insulted, that's irrelevant to the question.

00:32:31.000 Okay, the media are supposed to be sort of like a pastor in a church.

00:32:34.000 They're supposed to bring you truth.

00:32:35.000 That's supposedly the goal of the media.

00:32:37.000 That's their self-stated goal.

00:32:39.000 What would happen if you insulted the pastor in your church?

00:32:41.000 Well, it would be one thing if you insulted the pastor, and he said, listen, an insult on me is an attack on this particular institution, and, you know, if you're attacking me personally, I can take it, but obviously I feel like I need to speak the truth anyway.

00:32:53.000 But if the pastor gets angry because you're attacking him personally, you might think that he's an egotist.

00:32:58.000 Well, when you look at the media, it seems as though they are full of people who are just focused on Trump's dislike for them personally.

00:33:05.000 Trump wants to make this personal.

00:33:06.000 That's his entire goal is to make this personal.

00:33:08.000 And when the media allow this to become a personal slap fight between them and Trump, Trump wins.

00:33:12.000 Trump wins because he's the one with the base.

00:33:14.000 The media don't have a base.

00:33:15.000 Like, Trump's base is bigger than Lawrence O'Donnell's or Don Lemon's.

00:33:18.000 The idea that them going out there and ripping Trump up and down on character grounds for attacking the media, it's just bad strategy.

00:33:24.000 Put aside the truth or untruth, it's just bad strategy by the media, and they are falling right into Trump's trap.

00:33:30.000 They're not the only ones, by the way.

00:33:31.000 Former Obama officials, James Clapper, a guy who lied in front of Congress about the nature of the government's surveillance efforts, he goes on CNN and he says that Trump is a national security threat.

00:33:43.000 You said you questioned his fitness?

00:33:46.000 Is he a threat to national security, the president?

00:33:49.000 Well, he certainly could be.

00:33:51.000 Again, having some understanding of the levers that a president can exercise, I worry about, frankly, you know, the access to nuclear codes.

00:34:07.000 In a fit of pique,

00:34:09.000 He decides to do something about Kim Jong-un.

00:34:14.000 There's actually very little to stop him.

00:34:18.000 There's no evidence that Trump has done anything like this on policy.

00:34:20.000 There's the sense that he says crazy things all the time, which is true.

00:34:24.000 But again, bringing on James Clapper, an Obama official, to call Trump unhinged is not smart politics. 0.96

00:34:29.000 It's also unfair, and it's sort of derogatory toward people who have actual mental illness, like this idea that Trump is a deeply mentally ill human being who can't be trusted with the nuclear codes. 0.86

00:34:39.000 Listen, I didn't vote for Trump, but this is over-the-top. 0.82

00:34:42.000 It is over-the-top stuff, and it's not helpful to anyone.

00:34:45.000 Cecilia Vega, who's a journalist, was on Good Morning America, and she said this was incitement, pure and simple.

00:34:51.000 That's what she said.

00:34:52.000 She said this was incitement to violence.

00:34:54.000 Okay, this was not incitement to violence by President Trump.

00:34:57.000 We all need to get over this.

00:34:57.000 I didn't think it was incitement when Bernie Sanders suggested that Medicare was going to, that Trump's cuts to Medicaid were going to kill people.

00:35:05.000 I don't think that's incitement. 1.00

00:35:05.000 I think it's stupid. 1.00

00:35:07.000 I don't think it's incitement when Trump says journalists aren't patriotic. 1.00

00:35:09.000 I think it's dumb. 0.96

00:35:10.000 But it's not incitement. 0.96

00:35:11.000 The media and the Democrats' attempts to club Trump to death over these sorts of comments and to suggest that he is unfit for office based on comments like this,

00:35:22.000 All you're really doing is you're reinforcing his base of support who feel like he's under attack anyway.

00:35:26.000 And then, how much attention do the media actually pay to the riots that were happening outside?

00:35:31.000 So right after this rally happens, Trump mentions Antifa!

00:35:35.000 And then, there are actual riots outside from Antifa.

00:35:38.000 So here's some of the footage.

00:35:42.000 You can see there are Trump supporters in this truck.

00:35:45.000 And you can see that they begin to shout at the Trump supporters.

00:35:55.000 He gets out of the truck.

00:35:58.000 They're screaming at the Trump supporters in the truck.

00:36:08.000 Okay, so they're just delightful, folks.

00:36:10.000 The police were firing gas canisters at Antifa last night.

00:36:34.000 This is Antifa that's provoking violence outside.

00:36:45.000 This again lends credence to what I've been saying, what Trump has been saying.

00:36:49.000 This is the one thing I think Trump got right over the past week, is labeling Antifa a group that is ensconced and enmeshed in violence.

00:36:55.000 We're concerned that Antifa is going to show up at the speech that I'm going to give at Berkeley on September 14th.

00:37:00.000 I'm encouraging all the people who are saying they're going to show up in self-defense to Antifa, please do not show up ready to do battle with Antifa.

00:37:08.000 It is the police's job to take care of this.

00:37:09.000 This is a good object lesson, okay?

00:37:11.000 Yeah, Young America's Foundation, they're going to spend $15,000, $16,000 on extra security mandated by UC Berkeley.

00:37:18.000 Okay, let's watch the police do their jobs.

00:37:19.000 If they don't,

00:37:20.000 Then we'll know who to blame.

00:37:21.000 The UC Berkeley administration, and the city police, and the city government will know who to blame.

00:37:26.000 So please, don't get involved in fighting Antifa.

00:37:30.000 It doesn't do anybody any good.

00:37:31.000 Let Antifa do what they're doing. 1.00

00:37:32.000 Let the police take care of them.

00:37:33.000 Then if the police won't take care of them, it proves everything we want to prove about Antifa.

00:37:37.000 So please, all the people who are saying they're going to come defend my speech, I don't need you to come defend my speech.

00:37:41.000 I need you to come and attend my speech, and I will give out the link.

00:37:43.000 There are 2,000 seats.

00:37:45.000 We should fill all of them.

00:37:46.000 We want to make sure that you can come.

00:37:48.000 But please don't come, quote-unquote, prepared for violence, because that's what the police are there for.

00:37:52.000 We just paid through the nose to ensure that the police are there.

00:37:55.000 If they don't do the job they're supposed to do, it tells you everything you need to know.

00:37:58.000 It's Antifa.

00:37:59.000 That is promoting violence across the country. 1.00

00:38:00.000 I have a piece in National Review today talking specifically about the left's embrace of mainstream violence and why that's the danger to the country, not some schmuck piece of garbage white supremacists who march with torches. 1.00

00:38:15.000 If they act violent, they're part of the problem, too. 0.99

00:38:17.000 But America can survive horrible views.

00:38:19.000 America can't survive violence in the streets.

00:38:21.000 Okay, so time for some things I like and then some things I hate and a quick Bible talk.

00:38:27.000 Things I like.

00:38:28.000 This week I'm doing things that are related to blindness.

00:38:32.000 And that is thanks to President Trump staring directly into the sun during the solar eclipse.

00:38:37.000 So yesterday we did Day of the Triffids, the best movie about blindness.

00:38:44.000 It's not really about blindness, but it's called Dark Victory.

00:38:47.000 And at the very end of the film, there is some blindness.

00:38:51.000 Betty Davis and Humphrey Bogart and George Brent.

00:38:54.000 Humphrey Bogart actually has a bit of a bit part.

00:38:56.000 This is one of his earlier parts.

00:38:57.000 Ronald Reagan is in the film as well.

00:38:59.000 He has a small part too.

00:39:01.000 Very charming.

00:39:02.000 Betty Davis in Dark Victory.

00:39:03.000 She won an Oscar for Best Actress for Dark Victory.

00:39:05.000 She is terrific in the film.

00:39:07.000 It's kind of an old classic romance film, and it is quite good.

00:39:13.000 She's a rich socialite. 1.00

00:39:15.000 Here's a little bit of the preview.

00:39:19.000 In the career of every great actress, one role lives forever, as her finest creation.

00:39:25.000 Warner Brothers now proudly present the most exciting star on screen, in a story that lights the full fires of her genius.

00:39:32.000 I love the old reviews, they're so great.

00:39:42.000 I've never taken orders from anyone.

00:39:44.000 As long as I live, I'll never take orders from anyone.

00:39:46.000 I'm young and strong and nothing can touch me.

00:39:48.000 Darling. 1.00

00:39:50.000 Poor fool. 1.00

00:39:52.000 Don't you know I'm in love with you? 1.00

00:39:55.000 Are you afraid to burn, Michael? 0.98

00:39:58.000 Are you afraid to die? 0.92

00:39:59.000 What a relief to know that you're no better than I am.

00:40:06.000 It was nominated for Best Picture and she won Best Actress as well in this.

00:40:25.000 Okay, time for some things that I hate.

00:40:33.000 So Trevor Noah, who, as I say, is in a running freeway street battle for least funny comedian in America with Amy Schumer.

00:40:41.000 And the third person always tends to vary.

00:40:43.000 Sometimes I've said that it is John Oliver, although I think John Oliver is better than that.

00:40:48.000 Sometimes I've said W. Camus Bell, who truly is an awful comedian.

00:40:51.000 But Trevor Noah, he did a segment on his show last night about how he was back in South Africa, which is the country from which he hails, and he came back, and it turns out that America is the third Reich. 0.56

00:41:03.000 So now I was like, okay, this is not a vacation.

00:41:06.000 This is chaos.

00:41:08.000 But I still had a week of my break left.

00:41:10.000 So I thought, you know what?

00:41:11.000 I'm going to go back to America and just chill.

00:41:15.000 Turns out I left the third world and landed in the third Reich. 1.00

00:41:20.000 Okay, no you didn't, you stupid moron. 1.00

00:41:23.000 You did not land in the Third Reich, okay? 1.00

00:41:25.000 I promise you.

00:41:26.000 See this on my head?

00:41:27.000 You see how I'm sitting here doing a show?

00:41:29.000 You see how my entire family is fine?

00:41:31.000 This is not the Third Reich, my friend. 1.00

00:41:33.000 This nonsense where you compare America to the Third Reich because President Trump says stupid crap all the time, that is just, it's insane, and again, 1.00

00:41:41.000 You talk about the media driving people into the arms of Trump. 1.00

00:41:43.000 When you label everyone a Nazi, it turns out people get mad.

00:41:46.000 It turns out people get mad.

00:41:47.000 It turns out that people have a right to be angry when you suggest that America is Nazi Germany in 2017.

00:41:52.000 Hey, Trevor Noah is sitting there doing a nationally televised TV show talking about the Third Reich in America.

00:41:58.000 Do you think that Hitler allowed people to do that? 0.99

00:42:01.000 It's such stupid exaggeration, and it's not even funny. 1.00

00:42:04.000 It's not even funny. 1.00

00:42:05.000 It's just dumb. 0.99

00:42:05.000 Okay, other things that I hate. 0.99

00:42:07.000 So, now that Cleveland Browns are kneeling during the National Anthem, like, enough is enough, guys.

00:42:10.000 It's just, you're football players. 0.98

00:42:12.000 It's ridiculous. 0.98

00:42:14.000 The big story here is that apparently one of the guys who kneeled for the Cleveland Browns was a white guy. 0.99

00:42:17.000 Ooh! 0.96

00:42:18.000 Well, now it's beginning to cross racial lines.

00:42:20.000 Ooh! 0.96

00:42:22.000 Who cares?

00:42:23.000 You're a bunch of football players.

00:42:24.000 Whatever.

00:42:25.000 You have the right to do what you're doing. 1.00

00:42:26.000 Do I think you're a moron? 1.00

00:42:27.000 Yes. 1.00

00:42:27.000 Do I think you're stupid? 1.00

00:42:28.000 Yes. 1.00

00:42:29.000 Do I think that you are disrespectful to the veterans who have fought and died for the flag, for the National Anthem?

00:42:34.000 Yes.

00:42:35.000 There are unifying symbols in America that still mean something, and I think it's ridiculous that you are kneeling during the National Anthem instead of trying to perfect the Union, you are seeking to tear it down. 0.96

00:42:44.000 People like Frederick Douglass would have agreed with me, but this is really foolishness. 0.66

00:42:48.000 Here's some of the Cleveland Browns doing this routine.

00:42:51.000 We wanted to draw attention to the fact that there's things in this country that still need to change and I myself will be raising children that don't look like me.

00:43:04.000 I want to do my part as well to do everything I can to

00:43:11.000 Okay, do you think that it really does the union a favor?

00:43:26.000 That it really doesn't exacerbate tensions when you kneel during the National Anthem?

00:43:30.000 If you want to pray, why don't you wait until after the National Anthem and then do a team prayer and then get out to the media that what you're praying for is a better future for the country?

00:43:37.000 Why do you have to use the National Anthem as the wedge? 0.99

00:43:39.000 Really foolish. 0.99

00:43:40.000 Again, counterproductive. 1.00

00:43:42.000 When the left does this stuff, they're not achieving their goals.

00:43:44.000 They're actually driving people into Trump's camp.

00:43:46.000 The left keeps doing this Trump will win re-election in a landslide.

00:43:49.000 Okay, time for a brief Bible talk.

00:43:51.000 So, every week we go through a little portion of the Bible.

00:43:54.000 The Jews go through a different portion of the Bible each week, but we went through the entire Bible last year, so this year we are going through the sections of the prophets and the writings that correspond to the portion of the Bible that we read every week.

00:44:05.000 So this week, we read from Isaiah 52.

00:44:08.000 Now, we have just entered the month of Elul.

00:44:09.000 The month of Elul is considered, we're getting close to the Days of Awe, the lead-up to Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the Jewish New Year, and Yom Kippur, which is the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. 0.62

00:44:18.000 This is the period of time where Jews do their repentance for all of the things that they've sinned for over the last year, and so we read a lot of literature that's sort of about us returning to God.

00:44:26.000 This is from Isaiah 52, verses 8 through 10.

00:44:29.000 The voice of your watchmen, they raised a voice, together they shall sing, for eye to eye they shall see when the Lord returns to Zion.

00:44:35.000 Burst out in song, sing together, O ruins of Jerusalem, 1.00

00:44:37.000 So I want to focus in on that second verse for a second, the part where it says, There's a very famous story in the Talmud that, it's famous for Jews anyway, in the Talmud,

00:44:56.000 Rabbi Akiva is a very famous rabbi in Jewish history.

00:45:01.000 Part of the Bar Kokhba revolt against Roman rule was killed for his participation in that revolt.

00:45:07.000 But Rabbi Akiva and a bunch of rabbis were supposedly walking through the ruins of the Second Temple after the destruction of the Second Temple, and they were seeing animals run through the ruins of Jerusalem, the ruins of the Temple.

00:45:19.000 And all the other rabbis were crying, and Rabbi Akiva starts laughing.

00:45:22.000 And so all of his friends turn to him and they say,

00:45:24.000 Rabbi Akiva, what's going on?

00:45:26.000 Why are you laughing?

00:45:27.000 And he says, I'm laughing because the same prophecy that says that the temple will be destroyed also says that the temple will be rebuilt, and I have faith that it will be rebuilt.

00:45:34.000 The same is true for the United States and Western civilization.

00:45:37.000 I don't think that what we're watching right now, the decay of Western civilization, the decay of America, is permanent.

00:45:42.000 I think there can be renewal.

00:45:43.000 I think there can be a restoration.

00:45:45.000 But it requires work.

00:45:46.000 We can have faith in the Restoration if we take a hand in it.

00:45:49.000 We cannot have faith in the Restoration if we fail to take a hand and if we sit around doing nothing and simply lamenting our fate. 0.97

00:45:54.000 It's important that we all take a hand in educating our children to believe in a better America, that we stand up and tell the truth when we see something wrong happening, that we stand together in the face of stupidity and in the face of political polarization for political purposes. 0.65

00:46:07.000 That all has to end.

00:46:08.000 Then we too can be part of a restoration, because that's the restoration that was promised by the founders.

00:46:13.000 You know, things may ebb and flow in the United States, but overall, America has gotten better.

00:46:18.000 America can continue to get better, but only if we stand against random divisiveness for purposes of political gain.

00:46:26.000 If we don't do that, then we're doomed to watch the ruins grow around us.

00:46:29.000 Okay, so we'll be back here tomorrow with all the latest breaking news.

00:46:32.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
