00:00:00.000 Hey everybody, today on the Charlie Kirk show, Julie Kelly and Molly Hemingway to talk about January 6th, talk about media censorship and more.
00:00:05.000 Email me freedom at charliekirk.com and get involved with TurningPointUSA at tpusa.com.
00:00:12.000 Buckle up, everybody.
00:00:13.000 Here we go.
00:00:14.000 Charlie, what you've done is incredible here.
00:00:15.000 Maybe Charlie Kirk is on the college campuses.
00:00:18.000 I want you to know we are lucky to have Charlie Kirk.
00:00:21.000 Charlie Kirk's running the White House, folks.
00:00:24.000 I want to thank Charlie.
00:00:25.000 He's an incredible guy.
00:00:26.000 His spirit, his love of this country, he's done an amazing job building one of the most powerful youth organizations ever created, Turning Point USA.
00:00:35.000 We will not embrace the ideas that have destroyed countries, destroyed lives, and we are going to fight for freedom on campuses across the country.
00:00:44.000 That's why we are here.
00:00:46.000 Brought to you by the Loan Experts I Trust, Andrew and Todd at Sierra Pacific Mortgage at andrewandTodd.com.
00:00:56.000 I have been dying to get this guest on the program all week, ever since Kevin McCarthy gave the footage over to Tucker Carlson.
00:01:02.000 And again, Kevin deserves a lot of credit for that.
00:01:04.000 He did not have to do what he did.
00:01:07.000 And the guest is Julie Kelly.
00:01:09.000 She's the author of January 6th, How the Democrats Used the Capitol Protest to Launch a War on Terror Against the Political Right.
00:01:15.000 She understands the details of January 6th better than almost anybody else, except maybe Darren Beattie.
00:01:21.000 They're right up there together.
00:01:22.000 And I have several questions for Julie.
00:01:24.000 Julie, welcome to the program.
00:01:25.000 Julie, walk our audience through, from your perspective, the importance, the weight, and the significance of this footage now finally becoming public.
00:01:35.000 I think the significance is that the American people are starting to come to terms with and realize that the carefully constructed narrative about January 6th isn't the real story.
00:01:48.000 And that is why you see people like Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney, et cetera, completely melting down this week, in addition to the national news media that Tucker had access to these hidden recordings that have not been, Charlie, not only not made available to the public, but to defendants and their attorneys.
00:02:11.000 So it is breaking down the narrative.
00:02:13.000 The American people want to see more of this video.
00:02:16.000 We see that from the Rasmussen poll.
00:02:18.000 80% of Americans want to see all of the available video.
00:02:23.000 And so I think that this is just part of the crumbling narrative that is nonetheless Charlie being used by this Department of Justice and FBI to destroy the lives of thousands of Americans, even for minimal involvement in the events of January 6th.
00:02:38.000 So I played this tape last hour, but I find this to be unbelievably persuasive.
00:02:43.000 And Julie, I think you'll enjoy hearing it.
00:02:46.000 Cut 79 is Joe Rogan and Michael Malice reacting in real time.
00:02:51.000 It's as if you had a private hidden camera of how they react to the footage that is now being made public to people that are not right-wing ideologues by any measure.
00:03:00.000 Play Cut 79, please.
00:03:02.000 Right.
00:03:03.000 You're not supposed to go into the Capitol building.
00:03:05.000 Grant.
00:03:05.000 I thought it's, I thought you at certain times you wanted.
00:03:07.000 Not like that.
00:03:08.000 Yeah, not like that.
00:03:08.000 Not like that.
00:03:09.000 But when you see the people taking him around essentially on a tour, that's not what I thought it was.
00:03:16.000 Not even defending them.
00:03:18.000 It's just forget about it.
00:03:20.000 Let's look at what actually happened.
00:03:22.000 We didn't know that happened.
00:03:24.000 Right.
00:03:25.000 We had a version of it.
00:03:26.000 It was just chaos and the cops ran away.
00:03:28.000 And the cops were murdered.
00:03:30.000 Cops were murdered.
00:03:31.000 Yeah.
00:03:32.000 I would have never imagined that this.
00:03:34.000 I'm shocked to see that.
00:03:36.000 That's so wild.
00:03:37.000 And so I think people are just starting to recognize that it's not what you thought it was.
00:03:42.000 So, Julie, that clip is very powerful.
00:03:46.000 What is your reaction to not just that clip, but this idea that finally the American people can get educated and informed of what happened on January 6th?
00:03:56.000 While you're at it, tell us about potential Brady violations as well.
00:04:00.000 So, Charlie, that's very similar to the response that I got from a lot of people, even people who have been sort of following January 6th, that they were expecting some bombshells, but not to the level that what Tucker presented on Monday and Tuesday.
00:04:17.000 When you see what happened with Jacob Chansley, completely railroaded by his Justice Department, get this, Charlie.
00:04:23.000 I re-looked up his documents today.
00:04:25.000 Jacob Chansley, as we now see, walking peacefully around the building, accompanied by numerous Capitol police officers.
00:04:32.000 That was January 6th.
00:04:34.000 On January 11th, five days later, a grand jury in Washington, D.C. handed down several crimes against Jacob Chansley.
00:04:43.000 Five days later, it's like this was preset, ready to go.
00:04:48.000 This DOJ, D.C. U.S. Attorney's Office, had all of the charges collected that they were going to use against these people.
00:04:55.000 I mean, that is pretty stunning, something that even I covered the case that I think is pretty illuminating.
00:05:01.000 But I do think people were shocked at seeing Brian Sicknick, who even this week, Attorney General America Garland and the White House press secretary continue to lie about Brian Sicknick.
00:05:13.000 So too did Charles Schumer on the Senate floor, saying that he died as a result of January 6th.
00:05:18.000 It's simply not true, Charlie.
00:05:20.000 And we've known this.
00:05:21.000 I've covered this since February of 2021.
00:05:24.000 He sadly, tragically, died at the age of 42 of a stroke caused by two blood clots near his brainstem.
00:05:31.000 It had nothing to do with what happened on January 6th.
00:05:34.000 And now we see that because he's walking around the building looking fine.
00:05:38.000 He did not suffer the effects of being sprayed with pepper spray by one protester or being gassed by his own fellow police officers, which we know happened thanks to body worn camera footage.
00:05:53.000 But Charlie, nonetheless, a man named Julian Cater was sentenced to 71 months in jail for allegedly spraying Brian Sicknick that afternoon.
00:06:02.000 Brian Sicknick's mother, father, brother-in-law, and his ex-girlfriend submitted victim impact statements during before Julian Cater's sentencing, claiming that he was responsible for killing Brian Sicknick.
00:06:17.000 They also blamed Donald Trump for that.
00:06:19.000 This is the sort of farcical theater that's happening in this DC district courthouse.
00:06:24.000 And as I told Tucker the other night, and I've said repeatedly, the real villains here are the judges in Washington, D.C., who are letting the DOJ get away with concealing evidence, using cherry-picked clips as evidence, and withholding this huge trove of surveillance video, which needs to be reminded.
00:06:44.000 This is publicly paid-for security system for a public building that houses public employees.
00:06:52.000 That footage technically belongs to us.
00:06:55.000 It does not belong to the Capitol Police.
00:06:57.000 It doesn't even belong to Congress or Speaker, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who does deserve a huge commendation for allowing Tucker's team to access that video.
00:07:08.000 Now it's time to release the rest of it.
00:07:10.000 Now, a lot of it won't have anything to do with what happened inside and outside, but we need to see it.
00:07:15.000 The defendants need to see it.
00:07:17.000 The SickNick revelation is truly wild, but what they will say is: is it possible that the stroke that he suffered and died from was because of the stress of the event, or is there any other potential explanation?
00:07:32.000 No, there isn't.
00:07:34.000 And the coroner simply stated that he died of a stroke, that it was not an allergic reaction to spray.
00:07:41.000 Could it be stress?
00:07:43.000 I don't know.
00:07:44.000 Does stress cause blood clots?
00:07:44.000 That's a stretch.
00:07:46.000 I don't think so.
00:07:47.000 But there's other video of Brian Sicknick where he looks, you know, he's rinsing tear gas or pepper spray out of his eyes.
00:07:55.000 He's walking around, he's trying to regroup.
00:07:57.000 You know, he's not laying on the floor screaming.
00:07:59.000 He looks like pretty chill about what's happening.
00:08:03.000 And we know he went back and called his brother and said he got sprayed a couple of times, but that he was fine.
00:08:09.000 So, the idea that somehow he was and he suffered the stroke that night, that he was so overcome by stress about what happened.
00:08:17.000 When you clearly saw in that other video that he's sort of walking around like looking for something to do, just slides in the face of this narrative.
00:08:26.000 And that's why it's so important to get all of this out.
00:08:30.000 Because as I said, men have been charged in connection with his death.
00:08:33.000 He's been blamed.
00:08:34.000 These people have been blamed for that.
00:08:36.000 We also have claims of other police officers who were injured.
00:08:40.000 You know, this is part of the material that the government uses as incriminating evidence against January 6th defendants that all of them are responsible for harming police officers.
00:08:51.000 Simply not true.
00:08:52.000 So I think people are waking up not just to the idea that the government has withheld this evidence, but also the result of this cover-up sham.
00:09:04.000 And that is innocent people like Jacob Chansley lives being destroyed and languishing in prison for 41 months to support this fight-in regime and DOJ's narrative about January 6th.
00:09:16.000 I want everybody to check out Julie Kelly's book.
00:09:18.000 The book is January 6th: How Democrats Use the Capitol Protest to Launch a War on Terror Against the Political Right.
00:09:25.000 One of the most important subtitles of any book, because let's just reem, let's just emphasize this.
00:09:31.000 They used the narrative of the Capitol protest to launch a war on terror against us.
00:09:39.000 That's why they network this is why they are so upset about this footage being made public because maybe the war on terror should not be a war at all.
00:09:51.000 Ask yourself, why is Chuck Yu Schumer so mad?
00:09:54.000 It's because the basis, the validation for Patriot Act 2.0 is disintegrating and they become less powerful because of it.
00:10:07.000 Look, are you concerned about the American K-12 education system?
00:10:11.000 Are you worried about what your children and your grandchildren are learning or honestly not learning in school?
00:10:16.000 If you answer yes, my friends at Hillsdale College have a free resource for you.
00:10:19.000 Hillsdale College understands the importance of education to the future of our country.
00:10:23.000 They're now offering 10 free print copies of their recent issue of In Primus.
00:10:30.000 It's titled Education as a Battleground, written by Hillsdale College President Larry P. Arne.
00:10:35.000 The special issue provides a factual account of the issues in the ongoing battle over education, explaining why parents and teachers, not unelected bureaucrats or activists, should guide what our children are learning.
00:10:49.000 With Hillsdale College, you can make a difference in your community by distributing these copies of In Primus at your church, local business, or even in your doctor's office.
00:10:58.000 Do not miss this opportunity to arm yourself with the facts.
00:11:01.000 Claim your 10 free copies of Education as a Battleground by visiting charlie4hillsdale.com.
00:11:07.000 That's charlieforhillsdale.com.
00:11:09.000 I love Hillsdale College.
00:11:11.000 I'm an enthusiastic promoter of them.
00:11:13.000 So check it out right now at charlie4hillsdale.com.
00:11:19.000 Our audience is very upset, and they should be.
00:11:23.000 What are the next steps to try to get justice, to try to get people proper legal representation?
00:11:29.000 What can possibly be done here now that we are learning the truth?
00:11:32.000 Julie, your thoughts.
00:11:33.000 The next step, Charlie, I think is for House Republicans to form their own January 6th Select Committee.
00:11:39.000 I understand that the oversight committee or judiciary or the newly formed weaponization committee could try to tackle this, but this is such a massive problem, so many levels that involves the Department of Justice, the FBI, the DCUS Attorney's Office, and more importantly, the DC District Court.
00:12:00.000 We really need leadership from congressional Republicans to hire up staffers and investigators who cannot just investigate what happened, but force these people finally some public accountability.
00:12:14.000 We need to see these people explain to the American people, Judge Tim Kelly, why you're keeping nonviolent offenders behind bars for two years.
00:12:21.000 He's not the only one, by the way.
00:12:23.000 We need to find out why House Democrats kept this 44,000 hour trove out of the hands, not just of the FBI, but certainly obstructing justice.
00:12:36.000 That's what this is, Charlie.
00:12:37.000 House Democrats have obstructed justice, the rights of defendants, by keeping all of this video under wraps with House Democrat committees.
00:12:48.000 And that's how Kevin McCarthy got his hands on it.
00:12:50.000 But that's what we need, our own select committee, because you're right, Charlie, people are outraged by this.
00:12:57.000 And I'll tell you, there's still a lot of Republicans out there who won't touch this with the 10-foot poll.
00:13:03.000 You saw shamefully Republican senators.
00:13:07.000 Oh, they're gutless wonders.
00:13:08.000 Oh, they're terrible.
00:13:10.000 They're complicit in denying the due process rights of American citizens.
00:13:17.000 They are complicit by what they're doing.
00:13:20.000 And Mitt Romney, who took a knee and marched with BLM and said he supported BLM when they were burning down cities, attacking police officers, killing people across the country, for him to say one word in defense of what this regime is doing.
00:13:36.000 These people really are just shameful, tear point, cowards.
00:13:40.000 It really is.
00:13:41.000 It's disturbing and it's sad and it's sick.
00:13:43.000 Kevin McCarthy is saying he's going to publicize all of this footage.
00:13:49.000 I fully support that.
00:13:51.000 Julie, I think having an actual crowdsourced operation, we could get to the truth even quicker.
00:13:57.000 What are your thoughts on that as we conclude?
00:13:59.000 I agree with it now.
00:14:00.000 Look, I supported the idea of giving this to Tucker and you see exactly why.
00:14:04.000 It needed to be a surgical strike.
00:14:07.000 It needed to have massive impact with the most powerful influencer on the right.
00:14:12.000 And that's exactly what happened.
00:14:14.000 Had this been watered down with hundreds or thousands of people combing through it, a lot of people who aren't familiar with the events of January 6th, what to look for.
00:14:23.000 There certainly are some, but there's not a lot.
00:14:26.000 And then flooding the zone, it would have minimized the impact of what we see happening this week.
00:14:31.000 So this was the right approach, but now it's time to turn over the tapes to everyone and let us take a look and identify some of the things that Tucker said he couldn't really, which was agitators or people who look like they had been hired to open doors, lead people through the Capitol.
00:14:49.000 We certainly know that FBI informants were involved months before January 6th.
00:14:53.000 So that's an issue that probably I'm more interested in is seeing unknown, unidentified, more importantly, uncharged people who are helping to instigate the events of that day.
00:15:08.000 Julie Kelly, awesome job as always.
00:15:10.000 Thank you so much.
00:15:11.000 Thanks, Charlie.
00:15:12.000 Thanks for having me on.

00:16:16.000 Joining us now is Molly Hemingway.
00:16:19.000 Molly is one of my favorite thinkers and writers in the country, and she does an amazing job.
00:16:24.000 Molly, welcome to the program.
00:16:26.000 Molly, I want to get your initial reaction for our audience, something I so enjoyed on Twitter, where Mr. Thompson says he never actually reviewed the security footage himself.
00:16:38.000 Chairman of the January 6th Select Committee on the Attack on the Capitol never actually looked at the footage itself.
00:16:47.000 Molly, the floor is yours.
00:16:48.000 This is extraordinary stuff.
00:16:50.000 I thought this was an absolutely stunning admission.
00:16:53.000 It comes after Tucker Carlson released and showed some footage that was very interesting about the January 6th protest and riot and how what we had been told about it does not match with some of this footage in very specific ways.
00:17:08.000 And in response, the chairman of the so-called January 6th committee says he actually never had access to this footage, which is a really weird thing to say because he, as chairman with Liz Cheney, his co-chairman, showed footage from this.
00:17:28.000 You know, they showed video footage.
00:17:29.000 They had a whole made-for-TV show trial that included video vignettes from that day.
00:17:36.000 And he's now admitting that he never even had access to it, or so he's claiming.
00:17:41.000 So when he spent months claiming that they had done an exhaustive dig through these video footage, that actually just wasn't true.
00:17:50.000 He now says he never had access to any of it.
00:17:53.000 Then, what the heck was the committee doing, Molly?
00:17:55.000 I mean, it's a really simple and obvious question, right?
00:17:58.000 I mean, you have this whole committee, you got show trials, you got all these people that are testifying and all this.
00:18:03.000 Wouldn't, I don't know, a basic introductory, just a starting point.
00:18:07.000 Let's look at the footage of what happened on the day of the attack.
00:18:10.000 I mean, somewhat helpful.
00:18:12.000 I mean, how is it?
00:18:14.000 It's not, it's almost, and for him to admit it is what's so also just extraordinary.
00:18:20.000 If nothing else comes out of this Tucker Carlson footage that was shown, but this admission that the whole, you know, the admission from the chairman of the committee that the whole thing was kind of a sham, that's a that's a sufficient enough result of the process.
00:18:34.000 So one thing that was interesting is that this J6 committee, hand-selected by Nancy Pelosi for political purposes to control the midterm elections, was that they turned over access of this footage, which they admit that they didn't actually have access to.
00:18:49.000 They turned it over to ABC News producers who they hired to make like a really good show.
00:18:56.000 And so this week we're told that the worst thing in the history of the world is that Kevin McCarthy gave access to a Fox News journalist to report on this footage.
00:19:06.000 Well, that's what the J6 committee did, except they turned it over to these, you know, so-called ABC News producer types so that they could make a dramatic show, a made-for-television show that Tucker has now revealed was fraudulent.
00:19:19.000 You know, they added audio that wasn't there.
00:19:22.000 They manipulated and deceptively edited the video to make it look like Josh Hawley had fled the scene when in reality he was part of a group of senators who were escorted from one room to another room.
00:19:35.000 There were all these things they were doing to deceive the American people, and they were doing it with the help of these hired TV professionals to make it a really good show for gullible people.
00:19:48.000 It's so extraordinary in more ways than one.
00:19:50.000 And so.
00:19:51.000 A made-for-TV show trial.
00:19:53.000 I just think that's so powerful.
00:19:55.000 You know, so many people are emailing us, freedom at charliekirk.com, saying, Molly, we know this, we know this.
00:20:01.000 There's nothing new that we are learning this week.
00:20:03.000 But Molly, I do push back on some of these people, say, well, you guys might be ahead of the curve because you watch this program and you watch Tucker Carlson.
00:20:10.000 But Molly, the consensus has been up until this week that this was the worst attack since the Civil War.
00:20:18.000 It's terrible.
00:20:19.000 People are actually, because they're seeing the truth, starting to wake up with this.
00:20:22.000 Talk about, Molly, just how important it is to question this narrative because they've used the narrative to then justify other hyper-aggressive measures from the federal government.
00:20:36.000 This is important on a variety of levels.
00:20:38.000 Your thoughts.
00:20:39.000 So when I watched on Monday night, I thought, this is very interesting.
00:20:43.000 And I say this as someone who's followed this story closely, but I thought it was all within the realm of what I might expect to see if I had access to the footage.
00:20:52.000 When the next day you got this completely hysterical response from everybody, I realized how important it was to just show these basic facts.
00:21:02.000 Many of us who have studied this issue or reported on this issue, we already knew some of these things.
00:21:07.000 But there had been such narrative control over what you're allowed to say or know about the January 6th event that when someone broke through that, all heck broke loose in both parties, you might note.
00:21:21.000 And was really struck by what something that Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell said.
00:21:26.000 He came out.
00:21:27.000 So Chuck Schumer says, I would like to censor Fox News and I would like to have everyone's help in censoring Fox News.
00:21:34.000 And the Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell, who's supposedly the head of the Republican Party in Washington, D.C., he does not tell this guy that that is a horrific attack on the First Amendment.
00:21:43.000 He agrees with him.
00:21:45.000 He says it was a mistake to show the American people footage that was at odds with the official government line.
00:21:51.000 He literally said, it's a mistake to show something at variance with what the official government narrative is.
00:21:58.000 This is terrifying type stuff, but also shows the power of just showing people with their, you know, so they can watch with their own eyes, make their own determination.
00:22:07.000 Was this in fact the worst moment in human history?
00:22:11.000 Or was it a protest about a shoddy election that was poorly run with many changes to rules, some of which were, you know, rushed through or done through in very unconstitutional fashion with the infiltration of big tech and big media into election meddling with the Zuckerberg funds that took over government election offices to make blue areas of swing states vote more Democratic, more Democrat Party?
00:22:37.000 All of these things.
00:22:38.000 Like, was it a protest about those things that got out of hand, or was it the worst moment in human history?
00:22:43.000 And Tucker, by showing some of this footage that is at odds with the official narrative, as Mitch McConnell says, helps people realize that it's the reaction to the January 6th event and riot, you know, when nobody supports riot, riotous behavior or violence like this, the political violence, but was the reaction to it where people's free speech was limited, freedom of the press was limited, where lawyers can't represent these clients, where if you do represent a client, you might get a disbarment effort,
00:23:11.000 where all this type of hysteria is also part of the conversation.
00:23:15.000 And now it really is part of the conversation.
00:23:17.000 And that's why this is so important.
00:23:20.000 That's exactly right.
00:23:22.000 And we have some tape here.
00:23:25.000 Cut 60, Corine Jean-Pierre.
00:23:28.000 The president has been clear.
00:23:30.000 This was the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.
00:23:34.000 Worse than Pearl Harbor.
00:23:35.000 It's amazing.
00:23:36.000 And we should be focused on making sure that never happens again.
00:23:40.000 It's amazing.
00:23:41.000 It's the first insurrection in world history where the occupying force gives tours to the wannabe insurrectionists.
00:23:49.000 It's a really new concept.
00:23:50.000 Play Cut 60.
00:23:52.000 The president has been very clear.
00:23:54.000 January 6th was the worst attack in our democracy since the Civil War.
00:23:58.000 And we should be focused on making sure that never happens again.
00:24:02.000 And again, it was one of the darkest days of our democracy.
00:24:05.000 And all you have to do is watch those videos and see how horrific it was.
00:24:10.000 See how sad it was.
00:24:11.000 See an attack on the Capitol.
00:24:14.000 And we got to get down to the bottom of what happened.
00:24:17.000 Again, it was an attack on our democracy.
00:24:19.000 And I'll just leave it there.
00:24:21.000 Wait, We got to watch videos, Molly.
00:24:24.000 You just got to watch the videos.
00:24:27.000 But we were actually watching cherry-picked edited videos this entire time.
00:24:31.000 Well, what's amazing here is that Tucker Carlson made very specific, he raised very specific issues related to video, which I agree with Corinne John Pierre.
00:24:41.000 You just have to watch the video and then you can ask your questions yourself.
00:24:45.000 But these were specific claims made, such as that, you know, Buffalo Hat guy was given a tour sort of of the Capitol interior where nine different police officers could have easily arrested him and nobody was even trying.
00:25:00.000 They were opening up locked doors for him or trying to, you know, giving him tours of the chamber.
00:25:04.000 So you notice Queen John Pierre nor anyone else responds in substance to this video.
00:25:09.000 She just sort of waves her hand around and says, you're not allowed to watch that video.
00:25:13.000 Watch the videos that we cherry-picked for you.
00:25:15.000 Or the claim about Josh Hawley actually being part of an evacuation effort that was not just for him.
00:25:20.000 Nobody's responding to that in substance.
00:25:23.000 They want to use the deceptively edited clip to go after him for political reasons.
00:25:28.000 Or, you know, one of the more important things too was that that mysterious protester, Ray Epps, who's on video telling people that they have to enter the Capitol building, that they need to go in there, but has somehow been viewed as an ally of Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger and Nancy Pelosi.
00:25:42.000 They have evidence that he was not where he said he was when he gave it, sent a text saying that he was responsible for the protest.
00:25:50.000 Now, what's the substantive response to that?
00:25:52.000 If you instead say, Tucker Carlson is dangerous for showing this evidence, but you don't respond to the substance, that is very suspicious, in my view.
00:26:03.000 That's right.
00:26:06.000 The heated exchange between the Democrat Party and Matt Taibbi is something, Molly, I'm curious, how and when?
00:26:13.000 When is my actually more important part of the question?
00:26:16.000 When did the Democrats become the party of censorship?
00:26:20.000 When did this happen?
00:26:21.000 I think it was a slow, it's been a long time coming and it's sort of, but it happened slowly.
00:26:27.000 It's shocking to watch right now.
00:26:29.000 They're against every aspect of the First Amendment, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion.
00:26:35.000 They don't want people even having access to information to be able to determine truth, which is basically the most important founding American principle out there, probably.
00:26:44.000 And yet they started going against some of these things in recent decades.
00:26:50.000 And the more they got control over the institutions, the more important it became for them to exert that control by limiting people's speech and press rights.
00:26:58.000 Yeah, and it's just been fascinating to see because one of their big complaints against Donald Trump is that he was an enemy of the press or that he was against free speech.
00:27:08.000 But free speech has never been a left-wing value.
00:27:11.000 It's been a liberal value, but it's never been critical to the American left.
00:27:16.000 In fact, they've always been annoyed by speech they do not like.
00:27:19.000 I want to play some tape here from some of that exchange with Matt Taibbi.
00:27:23.000 And they're doing everything they possibly can to go after Elon Musk.
00:27:28.000 It is a focused campaign to try to go after Elon Musk and to try to cancel him.
00:27:34.000 Let's play Cut 97, please.
00:27:36.000 Well, conclusion is that he is, in fact, your source.
00:27:38.000 Well, you're free to conclude that.
00:27:40.000 Well, sir, I just don't understand.
00:27:42.000 You can't have it both ways, but let's move on.
00:27:44.000 No, he can.
00:27:45.000 He's a journalist.
00:27:46.000 No, he can't because either Musk is the source and he can't talk about it, or Musk is not the source.
00:27:51.000 And if Musk is not the source, then he can discuss.
00:27:54.000 No one has yielded.
00:27:54.000 The gentlelady is out of order.
00:27:55.000 You don't get to speak out of it.
00:27:57.000 The gentle lady is not recognized.
00:27:58.000 The gentle lady is not recognized.
00:27:59.000 You're not recognizing Mike Taibby.
00:28:01.000 He has not said that.
00:28:02.000 I don't know.
00:28:02.000 What he has said is he's not going to reveal his source.
00:28:04.000 And the fact that Democrats are pressuring him to do so is such a time.
00:28:08.000 We're asking him about his conversations with Musk.
00:28:10.000 The gentlelady has not yielded you time.
00:28:12.000 It's kind of hard to track all that.
00:28:13.000 But Molly, here they are calling Taibbi a so-called journalist, asking him to reveal his sources.
00:28:21.000 This is an extraordinary political development.
00:28:23.000 You know, people would say that when President Trump criticized shoddy media, that that was a threat on the First Amendment.
00:28:31.000 And here you have actual sitting members of Congress trying to bully someone into revealing a source that doesn't even need, I mean, there's not really like a national security or other reason that you can even pretend to justify it somehow.
00:28:45.000 They're attacking, they're supporting the government's role in suppressing journalism or censoring actual journalistic stories or news outlets or discussion of journalistic stories.
00:29:00.000 They have actual attacks on the press.
00:29:02.000 And you have, you know, what the FTC is doing with trying to get Elon Musk to reveal any journalists he spoke to.
00:29:08.000 And boy, the media are super silent about all this.
00:29:12.000 They said a critique of bad journalism.
00:29:14.000 Like you make up a story and someone gets mad at you.
00:29:17.000 That's an attack on journalism.
00:29:19.000 But actual attacks on journalism are not attacks on journalism.
00:29:23.000 That's well said.
00:29:24.000 Molly Hemingway, anything you want to plug to our audience?
00:29:26.000 Ways people can support you, books they can buy.
00:29:28.000 Obviously, Rigged is one of the most important books the last couple of years.
00:29:31.000 How can our audience support you?
00:29:33.000 Mostly by just making sure you're reading and subscribing to The Federalist, where we cover all of these hot button topics, big tech, what's happening in the weaponization hearings, all the oversight hearings, holding people accountable and doing real journalism.
00:29:46.000 So make sure you're reading it and subscribing if you don't already.
00:29:51.000 Very good.
00:29:51.000 Molly, thank you so much and God bless you.
00:29:53.000 And the Federalist is a national treasure.
00:29:55.000 It truly is.
