Producer Andrew Colvett fills in for Charlie as he crushes it out on the road with JD Vance and Sen. Josh Hawley as they campaign across the state of Ohio. Plus, a call-in from Charlie himself.
00:00:00.000Hey, everybody, welcome to this episode of the Charlie Kirk Show.
00:00:02.000It's producer Andrew Colvett filling in for Charlie as he stumps all across the state of Ohio alongside senatorial candidate JD Vance, friend of the show, friend of America.
00:00:14.000Get out and vote for him if you're listening in Ohio.
00:00:17.000I am honored, as always, to be in the seat.
00:01:11.000His spirit, his love of this country, he's done an amazing job building one of the most powerful youth organizations ever created, Turning Point USA.
00:01:19.000We will not embrace the ideas that have destroyed countries, destroyed lives, and we are going to fight for freedom on campuses across the country.
00:02:37.000And it's been really interesting, you know, barnstorming the state, kind of learning where the Republican Party is.
00:02:43.000And this really is kind of a test of what kind of Republican Party do we want.
00:02:47.000Do we want a kind of the same old kind of Bush and chainy Republican Party, or do we want to go in a direction of a party that will defend our manufacturing and put tariffs on China and restrict immigration?
00:02:59.000And the people of Ohio are resonating with that message.
00:03:02.000And so, you know, it's been a long slog.
00:03:04.000It's been a pretty, you know, we could say contested primary, but JD is really pulling away.
00:03:10.000And just for all of our Ohio listeners here, you know, I'm completely and totally enthusiastic, enthusiastically behind JD, and we need people to show up in big numbers tomorrow.
00:03:20.000But, you know, it's been a really interesting thing just to see the amount of, you know, the amount of backlash that, you know, is being thrown at JD and how well he's weathering it.
00:03:31.000I'll tell you, though, you know, Josh Hawley, Senator Hawley's been saying that there's a lot of people on edge.
00:03:36.000There's a lot of nervous people in DC right now since JD has taken the lead.
00:03:40.000And that should tell you everything you need to know about this race.
00:03:43.000Yeah, I mean, I think you're absolutely right.
00:03:46.000JD represents what we might refer to, Charlie, as the new right.
00:03:53.000He's got a background in tech, which has become actually a part of, you know, a part of the storyline here.
00:03:59.000some of the reporters I've seen from the videos you've been sending to the team.
00:04:01.000They're asking about his tech background, which I actually think is a massive plus.
00:04:06.000But he is this new right, this new kind of candidate.
00:04:09.000You say that you're hearing from the people on the ground their reaction to a candidate like JD.
00:04:14.000And you're right, he's pulling ahead, which is phenomenal because of people like you, people like Senator Hawley, and of course, President Trump's endorsement.
00:04:36.000But, you know, you got to really give it to Ohio voters.
00:04:39.000They're starting to see through the nonsense and they're realizing that there's only one candidate that's actually going to do something about this, right?
00:04:46.000And here's the most important thing is that Republican primary voters have had this kind of angst and unease for many different cycles.
00:04:54.000But it seems as if, you know, Republican establishments are really, they're really talented at kind of camouflaging themselves when it matters.
00:05:02.000And then they go to D.C. and they just kind of become part of this kind of corporate oligarchy, you could call it.
00:05:08.000And so Republican primary voters, got to get the rhinos out of our party.
00:05:15.000They just, they, and thanks to President Trump's endorsement of JD, it's no mystery who the true conservative in this race is.
00:05:21.000And look, you look at what's happening, you know, nationwide, you know, for our national audience.
00:05:26.000A lot of people right now understand that the regime, as we call it on our program quite often, is of both parties.
00:05:33.000And you look at the issues that they get most animated about.
00:05:36.000It's not even, you know, the transgender issue, kind of they, they get a little upset about here and there, the pro-life thing.
00:05:41.000But if you really want to see the Washington regime all of a sudden go into kind of a frenetic tailspin, start talking about having a prudent foreign policy, restricting immigration, and maybe putting some tariffs on China.
00:05:56.000That more than anything else just gets them over the edge.
00:05:59.000And those three issues in particular are the ones that actually the Republican base are demanding the most.
00:06:06.000I talk about the muscular class, as you know, Andrew, a lot on our program here.
00:06:18.000It's not the managerial consultant class that has destroyed so many different aspects of our country.
00:06:24.000And so that's really what kind of is on the referendum here.
00:06:27.000Not to mention that JD is incredibly pro-life and against all the kind of transgender nonsense that we're seeing of the pushing of puberty blockers and all that garbage in our country.
00:06:38.000So that's really something I think that's important.
00:06:42.000Look, as you know, Andrew, I got a lot of stuff going on.
00:06:44.000I'm crisscrossing the country speaking somewhere every day.
00:06:47.000You know, don't get enough time in Arizona as much as I would like, but I'm here for a reason because I think that if we're able to get JD Vance across the finish line, that's going to send a message to the Washington elite.
00:06:56.000But all of a sudden, it's not just Josh Hawley or, you know, it's not just Rand Paul on Fauci, but all of a sudden, there's going to be a team.
00:07:03.000There's going to be a team of people in the Senate that are going to be able to stand up against the establishment and both parties.
00:07:08.000And I mean, just take one issue that I think, you know, has kind of just been swept under the rug.
00:07:12.000How about the abuse of the federal agencies, right?
00:07:14.000The CIA, the FBI, calling moms and dads that show up to the school board meetings, domestic terrorists, right?
00:07:22.000We need senators that are actually going to go and cross-examine these people and hold them accountable.
00:07:28.000Unfortunately, the Republican Party seems to be kind of holding their water, not holding them accountable.
00:07:38.000This would be the shot heard around Washington and really around the world that there is a new era of conservative politics coming to Washington with fighters like JD Vance leading the charge, obviously with Senator Hawley and others, which is a far, it's a short list, Charlie, but this would be a massive, massive blow to the establishment.
00:07:57.000Charlie, I want to give you one more opportunity just for our Ohio listeners specifically.
00:08:01.000I know there has been a lot made of some of the comments that JD made, let's say, circa 2015, 2016, about President Trump.
00:08:14.000Let's put this to bed once and for all.
00:08:16.000Why are these comments being taken and weaponized?
00:08:19.000Well, and this is for our national audience, too, which is, you know, they're going to try to these anti-Trump groups are going to try to all of a sudden be the referee of who's pro-Trump or not.
00:08:27.000Like, I hate to, you know, pull the quote-unquote Trump card, but I have a lot more credibility than these anti-Trump groups to be able to tell you who's actually consistent with the Trump agenda.
00:08:37.000And look, JD is very open about it on the campaign trail.
00:08:42.000That, you know, he said some negative things about Trump in 2016, but he's the first one to admit that he became Trump's biggest cheerleader.
00:08:48.000And isn't that a story or a journey of strengthening and growth?
00:08:53.000That's something that we should really appreciate and applaud when all of a sudden people are like, you know, I thought I didn't know that the New York billionaire was going to be the most pro-life president in history.
00:09:01.000And so that's something I hope people really understand.
00:09:04.000Unlike some of the other candidates in the race who kind of just continually camouflage and backstab and say one thing, you know, behind the back, I know JD very, I know, I know him personally.
00:10:17.000You're going to be back in the saddle tomorrow, but thank you for making time for your audience, this audience, while you guys are so busy on the road.
00:11:30.000This is a campaign ad that was actually shared on Twitter by Don Jr. first, which is where I saw it, attacking probably JD Vance's closest competitor, Mandel.
00:11:44.000The elites were right about Donald Trump, right?
00:12:31.000This is a common journey that many conservatives went on in the past year, I think, and past four years.
00:12:38.000I think we can all agree that Trump was a lot for many conservatives to take in at first, especially Christian Wright, the evangelical community.
00:12:49.000Now, you'll hear this argument made all the time that Trump is a tough person for conservatives, especially social conservatives, to adjust to, right?
00:12:59.000Three times divorced, a record of cheating on his wife.
00:13:10.000There's nothing more to really add to this debate.
00:13:13.000Now, do you want somebody that's going to, in the highest office in your land, do you want somebody that's going to defend your values, is going to put forward policies that reflect your Christian values, that reflect your conservative values, and is an imperfect vessel for those ideas?
00:13:31.000Or do you want somebody that's going to go to Washington and completely collapse, is going to completely fold over underneath the weight of all of that pressure?
00:13:41.000Now, because everybody has a lot of pressure.
00:13:43.000So what you actually need is somebody that's willing to fight on your behalf.
00:13:47.000When you go to Washington, one of the biggest, one of the biggest pushbacks, one of the biggest letdowns of conservatives over the last 15, 20 years is that they go to Washington and they completely fold.
00:14:03.000And as he put together a resume in Washington, it became very clear to people like JD Vance, people like many of you listening in the audience today, that Donald Trump was going to fight for them.
00:14:16.000And as a matter of fact, he might have been the first one in a generation to do so.
00:14:20.000And that took courage, that took boldness, and it converted many along the way.
00:14:26.000So, once again, everybody support JD Vance.
00:14:31.000I think we actually have that clip now, if I'm not mistaken.
00:14:41.000This was an attack ad shared by Don Jr., and it basically shows Josh Mandel endorsing Mitt Romney, time and time again standing with McCain.
00:14:54.000This is, in my opinion, this is damning.
00:14:57.000Because what's really on the ballot in the state of Ohio is establishment.
00:15:05.000It is betrayal versus the new right, the fighting right, the right that's going to defend the values of the middle class, the working class, patriotic Americans that have been for too long ignored and cast aside once they get to Washington, once their representatives get to Washington.
00:15:22.000So I want you to listen to this or watch this if you're checking it out on the stream and really pay attention.
00:15:28.000I think this is exactly what we're trying to avoid in the future of the conservative movement.
00:17:00.000Let's move on to the correspondence dinner.
00:17:03.000So this is essentially DC's Hollywood night.
00:17:10.000This is their chance to put on the Ritzy dresses.
00:17:13.000This is their chance to put on their tuxedos, go have a nice night, drink way too much alcohol, laugh at each other, even as the country's burning.
00:17:21.000It's actually really disgusting when you really think about it.
00:17:25.000I was speaking with a couple reporter friends of mine during the weekend saying, are you at the dinner?
00:17:32.000A couple of them were, a couple of them weren't.
00:17:34.000The ones that weren't tend to be more of my kind of people, my kind of reporters.
00:17:39.000And they said, listen, we can't afford the tables at this event.
00:17:52.000And it was the first time in six years where the President of the United States actually showed up.
00:17:56.000As you might remember, President Trump basically boycotted the event because he was treated as a pariah by the mainstream news media and the legacy media.
00:19:38.000Laughing at this quadruple boosted crowd consistently getting COVID over and over and over again.
00:19:48.000Now, this one actually was a lot of, oh, this was pretty funny.
00:19:51.000Cut seven, I think, gets to the heart of the dilemma.
00:19:54.000There was a new poll that just came out, I believe it was last week, that exposes that 44% of registered Democrats do not want Biden to run.
00:20:07.000That is a, actually, it's 44% are in favor of Joe Biden running.
00:20:21.000I think this puts us in a good place of really understanding where the jokes are at and watch Biden's reaction.
00:20:30.000You're battling conspiracy theories that the election was stolen by George Soros, that JFK Jr. is still alive, that everyone in this room is a secret pedophile.
00:20:40.000And that's just what Clarence Thomas's wife believes.
00:20:44.000This is truly the golden era of conspiracy theories.
00:20:47.000Whether it's the right wing believing Trump can still win the 2020 election, or the left believing Joe Biden can still win the 2024 election.
00:20:58.000Look at him just laughing hysterically.
00:21:54.000I mean, not only is he falling apart, not only is the country falling apart, not only do Democrats themselves not want him as their president, but he's forced to sit at a table and laugh about it, which is really sick, actually.
00:22:07.000If you actually think about just how sick that is.
00:22:10.000Now, I want to go into Trevor Noah's attack on Fox News.
00:22:54.000He says, and I don't know if this is part of the clip that we have, but he talks about how the whole room goes tense as soon as he brings up Fox News.
00:23:04.000And then he also talks about Trump v. DeSantis, which is something that we've been covering on this show.
00:23:55.000All right, Fox News is sort of like a waffle house.
00:23:58.000Yeah, it's relatively normal in the afternoon, but as soon as the sun goes down, there's a drunk lady named Janine threatening to fight every Mexican who comes in.
00:24:13.000So they're attacking Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingram.
00:24:19.000They're attacking really the opinions that a lot of you hold in this audience, which we oftentimes on this show, the Charlie Kirk show, hold.
00:25:04.000And this is the Trump V DeSantis back and forth because I actually think he zeroes in on a piece of truth that's important for us all to get.
00:26:59.000Find out what they did and how they did it in a new documentary film called 2000 Mules, directed and narrated by renowned filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza, an executive produced by the Salem Media Group, with research from truthevote.org.
00:27:13.0002000 Mules is going to be a game changer.
00:27:15.0002000 Mules tells the story of the ones who tried to hijack a presidential election.
00:27:20.000You'll see actual video surveillance tape.
00:27:22.000You'll see how we track their cell phones to box after box after they got paid to carry out this illegal scheme.
00:28:05.000The political environment is terrible for Democrats and it may get worse.
00:28:09.000This is from Stephen Collinson at CNN.
00:28:12.000I don't do, I'm not, I'm not in the habit of promoting CNN, but when CNN is this hard, this ruthless in a piece against a sitting president that happens to be a Democrat, you take notice.
00:28:27.000And the piece has this picture, a smiling picture of Joe Biden at the correspondence dinner, Washington's Hollywood night.
00:28:35.000It's just a disgusting display of anti-just anti-working class, anti-regular folk, the most corrupt media cabals, all buying expensive tables, laughing at their own failures and misery as the country burns.
00:28:51.000Nevertheless, it starts out with this: Joe Biden's term has become a punchline, even to the president.
00:28:59.000Biden might have been a good sport in poking fun at himself, his dented approval ratings and his failure to fully enact his domestic agenda at the White House Correspondents Association annual gala Saturday night.
00:29:12.000But his jokes were rooted in the painful reality of a presidency hostage to economic and global forces.
00:29:19.000Oh, but this is a hilarious line, beyond his control, and compounded by some of the tactical errors of his White House.
00:29:28.000You can't get away from their editor notes.
00:29:31.000You know, you can imagine that the first version of this were, you know, a president that is guilty of economic and foreign diplomacy missteps, compounded by some tactical errors.
00:29:42.000And the editor comes in, he goes, no, a presidency held hostage.
00:29:48.000It's not his fault to economic and global forces.
00:29:59.000It's a president that has bad policies, that is held hostage by anything by the far left, that is furthering him along some really bad policy agenda items, including the newest forgiving student loan debt, which economists believe will only make inflation worse.
00:30:17.000So that's something that we're going to cover in an hour or two.
00:30:20.000Nevertheless, his policies are what are holding the American people hostage.
00:30:25.000We must never let them get away with these little weird sleight of hands that they do in these articles.
00:30:31.000It's possible that high gas prices, the worst inflation in 40 years, and a war in Ukraine and a persistent pandemic could all ease by November.
00:30:39.000But the trajectory of those crises and the impact they exert on issues that matter to and can hurt Americans, like the price of groceries, could also get worse.
00:30:52.000What he says later is that all of this explains a sense of inevitability settling into Washington's conventional wisdom that Republicans are strongly favored to retake the House of Representatives while the Senate could go red too.
00:31:08.000Some economists are suggesting that inflation on its worst tear since the 1980s has peaked, but a key index watched by the Federal Reserve, the Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index, was up 6.6% for the year ended in March, according to figures released last week.
00:31:25.000Energy prices also spiked, and food was up 9.2% over the same period.
00:31:31.000Meanwhile, we're seeing reports of food processing plants over the weekend.
00:31:36.000Another fire happened on the East Coast.
00:32:34.000If you like what you hear here, if you like what you hear on the Charlie Kirk show, whether it's me hosting, whether it's Charlie, please support the effort, support the team.
