00:03:01.000 And I just have to say, your writing is full of wisdom and wit.

00:03:05.000 And it's a lost art the way that you write because half of our 90% of our media has decided to be compliant and boring in exchange for money, which is something I want to talk to you about, which is the title is Joker Joe Biden Can't Laugh This Afghanistan Debacle Off.

00:03:22.000 And what you go through is basically usually Joe Biden is able to have press coverage to cover for him and he really doesn't have to address anything head on.

00:03:30.000 This one he can't hide from.

00:03:31.000 Please tell us about this piece.

00:03:33.000 Look, you do see that the media is completely different in their treatment of Joe Biden over Afghanistan than they have been in anything else during the campaign where they, you know, allowed him to hide away in Delaware.

00:03:45.000 All they were determined to do, for the most part, I would say at least all the left-wing media and a lot of the sort of never Trumper media was to allow him, no matter what, to beat Donald Trump.

00:03:58.000 And they've really employed the same tactics to justify that decision throughout his eight-month presidency until now.

00:04:06.000 And that is because, you know, for the last 20 years, any journalist worth their salt has been to Afghanistan.

00:04:12.000 You know, the best of them have covered that war, have interviewed the troops, the veterans, and have used Afghans as their translators, their drivers, their fixes.

00:04:26.000 You know, they have personal relationships with them.

00:04:29.000 So this is a bungle of epic proportions that they can't ignore.

00:04:34.000 They've ignored the disaster in the southern border, which I would argue probably will be as consequential in terms of America's national security going forward.

00:04:44.000 They've ignored that.

00:04:45.000 They give Joe Biden a free pass as they have pretty much his entire career.

00:04:51.000 But this they can't ignore.

00:04:53.000 And I think that's why you're seeing that the administration is reeling.

00:04:58.000 You know, Joe Biden is trying to employ the old tricks that he had.

00:05:02.000 I described, you know, at that press conference on Sunday how he just uses laughter as a weapon.

00:05:08.000 He's always done that.

00:05:09.000 You saw him use it to great effect against, you know, Paul Ryan in that vice presidential debate a few years ago.

00:05:18.000 But it just, it rings so hollow now and it's so inappropriate.

00:05:22.000 And he's gotten to the stage of cognitive decline where these old weapons, he's not deploying properly.

00:05:28.000 They're backfiring.

00:05:29.000 And you're seeing really who Joe Biden is.

00:05:32.000 And now that I think of it, yeah, kind of self-laughter, dismissiveness is a tool that Hillary Clinton uses and the cackle from Campbell Harris as well, without actually ever addressing directly what the real problem is.

00:05:46.000 You write in this article that Joe Biden's statement was pure gaslighting.

00:05:51.000 Of course it would have made a difference if the evacuation had been done while the U.S. military still held Bragram before the Taliban took Kabul.

00:05:58.000 Whom is he kidding?

00:05:59.000 In April, he promised the withdrawal would be done responsibly, deliberately and safely.

00:06:04.000 But it's been utter chaos and the only effective is the last mad last scramble due to the competence of the troops on the ground.

00:06:12.000 Biden was full of self-congratulatory bluster and teleprompter statistics of how many people have been evacuated.

00:06:19.000 So Miranda, do you think that this is actually a breaking point where there is going to finally be a check and balance against a member of the ruling class?

00:06:26.000 It seems as if they get away with this and every single turn.

00:06:29.000 Is this one different?

00:06:31.000 I don't know.

00:06:32.000 I think time will tell.

00:06:33.000 It really shows, you know, it's really up to the integrity, I guess, of the media because we haven't seen a lot of that in the last few years.

00:06:42.000 And whether or not Joe Biden is held to account or whether you're seeing this sort of struggling, weak narrative come through that the Democrats are desperately trying to get up, which is, and Joe Biden does it every single time he's before the media, which is that it was a binary choice, either this catastrophe or stay in the war, the endless war forever.

00:07:07.000 I mean, that's not the choice.

00:07:09.000 You know, almost everybody agreed with getting out of the war. 0.57

00:07:13.000 It was just the manner in which it was done.

00:07:15.000 And, you know, it's so obvious.

00:07:17.000 It's not even complicated.

00:07:19.000 It's the fact that we abandoned Bagram Air Base in the middle of the night doing this, you know, absurd thing of pulling out troops before we pulled out civilians and allies.

00:07:31.000 And, you know, the other despicable thing about this, which hasn't quite been explored yet because there's so much going on, but Jake Sullivan actually, and I think it was him, but he certainly was one of the people who was echoing this, accused the commander of Bagram of making the decision to pull out.

00:07:52.000 I mean, A, that just doesn't pass the sniff test because as if he would have the seniority to make such a catastrophic decision.

00:08:00.000 But anyway, leaks incentive said, absolutely not.

00:08:03.000 Scotty Miller is his name, did not authorize that.

00:08:06.000 That came straight from the White House.

00:08:09.000 So what a decision.

00:08:11.000 And, you know, what is wrong with the people around Joe Biden that they would allow a man with clearly cognitive deficits to make such a staggering decision?

00:08:23.000 I mean, are they blaming Joe Biden because others behind the scenes are trying to hide behind him?

00:08:29.000 I don't know.

00:08:30.000 But what really I think this episode is teaching us is that we no longer can put up with having a even the appearance of a puppet president.

00:08:40.000 You know, either Joe Biden is in charge or someone else is.

00:08:43.000 And if someone else is, show their face.

00:08:46.000 Who is it?

00:08:47.000 Is it Ron Klain?

00:08:49.000 You know, is it, I don't know who it is.

00:08:51.000 There could be any number of people.

00:08:52.000 The other thing we've seen is that Anthony Blinken, the Secretary of State, I mean, we saw that in Alaska with his completely pathetic performance against the Chinese, where he sat there being berated by some functionary of President Xi.

00:09:09.000 You know, that was a humiliation for America on the international stage.

00:09:15.000 And that gave our allies pause.

00:09:19.000 And then this.

00:09:20.000 And this is Anthony Blinken all over it.

00:09:22.000 So, you know, there has to be some shake-up of personnel.

00:09:26.000 And it seems as if now we have to embrace tens of thousands of refugees by default. 1.00

00:09:31.000 And if we don't, then they're going to call us bigots and racists because of this sort of catastrophe that has been, let's just say, allowed to happen in the Middle East. 0.99

00:09:42.000 So speaking of refugees that came to the country that shouldn't have come, you had a wonderful piece that I don't think got enough attention.

00:09:49.000 This was one story that Tucker Carlson covered and you wrote about that didn't really hit full saturation because of the nonsense that happened in Kabul.

00:10:00.000 By nonsense, I mean the Taliban taking over.

00:10:02.000 It was just bad timing.

00:10:04.000 But it's a really important story.

00:10:06.000 And this is not a conspiracy theory.

00:10:08.000 This is a legitimate story that you wrote about.

00:10:10.000 And I want you to go into great detail about this because you are one of the few people to have the courage to write about this, someone who is an ingrate, Elon Omar.

00:10:18.000 And the title of your piece is FBI Dodged Elon Omar Bro Wedding Probe written by you.

00:10:25.000 And then it links to this website, ElonOmardna.com.

00:10:29.000 And it says that, quote, allegedly direct DNA evidence from near two-year global surveillance project proves Elon Omar married her brother and committed multiple felonies.

00:10:40.000 Tell us about this, Miranda.

00:10:41.000 This is one of the darlings of the new left.

00:10:44.000 And this is the poster child of why we need more refugees because we have more people like Elon Omar.

00:10:49.000 Did she really marry her brother?

00:10:51.000 DNA evidence certainly shows that she did.

00:10:54.000 And this was a, I mean, this is an extraordinary story on a number of levels.

00:10:59.000 I guess the foremost is that I was talking to the guy who represented the Republican group in Minnesota that had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, gone to three continents, spent, you know, a couple of years tracking down Ilhan Omar's husband slash brother, second husband, and also Ilhan Omar and getting DNA from both of them, DNA that was, they got private investigators to do this.

00:11:29.000 They have photographs of Ilan Omar, for instance, smoking a cigarette, which was then used the saliva from that for the DNA test.

00:11:36.000 And then similarly, they tracked down the husband slash brother to England and they managed to get, I think, saliva from or DNA from a drinking straw.

00:11:48.000 So the DNA company that tested this said there was a 99.99999998% match that they were siblings.

00:11:58.000 And so, you know, the FBI was supposed to be investigating Ilan Omar.

00:12:05.000 The FBI, you would think the obvious thing they would have done, they have the power to do it, would have been a lot easier for them than for this Republican group, would be to test the DNA of Ilhan Omar and her brother.

00:12:16.000 She denies that she married her brother. 0.68

00:12:18.000 She says it's preposterous and rude and insane.

00:12:21.000 So allow her to clear her name and get this cloud away from her head. 0.98

00:12:26.000 The FBI never did that.

00:12:28.000 Looks like they just ran dead on the investigation.

00:12:31.000 And then when a member of this Republican group actually called the FBI special agent in charge of that investigation at the Twin Cities FBI station and it recorded the phone call and said, look, are you not interested in this DNA evidence that we have?

00:12:54.000 And she said, look, the statute of limitations has run out on marriage fraud, which is correct. 1.00

00:13:00.000 I mean, marriage fraud is a five-year statute of limitations, but there's no statute of limitations on immigration fraud.

00:13:07.000 And every time this guy asked the FBI special agent, well, what about immigration fraud?

00:13:13.000 No statute of limitations.

00:13:15.000 She just fell back and said, no, we've just been told, we've been instructed that the statute of limitations is over, case closed.

00:13:24.000 So in other words, Ilan Omar gets away with it.

00:13:26.000 And then the incredible end point of this story comes that within hours after I talked to this representative of the Republican group and just hours after he made that website go live, which now is off the air, he was arrested by the FBI in completely unrelated charges.

00:13:52.000 I don't know if they're true or they're not true, who knows?

00:13:54.000 But it is extremely convenient to Ilhan Omar and her supporters in that state, in the Democratic Party, that this person, this group that had this great evidence that was so damning against Ilhan Omar, have been shut down completely.

00:14:13.000 I mean, that story has just died.

00:15:31.000 Here you have a woman who marries her brother, allegedly, to commit alleged immigration fraud, conspiracy, marriage fraud, and tax fraud.

00:15:44.000 And you're saying the FBI says, oh, no, the statute of limitations has been lifted, even though it hasn't.

00:15:49.000 And then the operative who does this immediately gets arrested on unrelated charges as soon as this report gets out.

00:15:55.000 Who's running our government?

00:15:58.000 It's very suspicious.

00:15:59.000 You know, you don't want to run crazy with conspiracy theories, just pure coincidence that the arrest happened hours after the website went live.

00:16:09.000 Could be, maybe not, maybe it is, but it's certainly it behooves the FBI to reassure the public that something dodgy is not happening here.

00:16:20.000 Well, yeah, I mean, and after the FBI spied on Donald Trump and lied about it under oath for years and went after Michael Flynn, it's a remarkable.

00:16:30.000 That's right.

00:16:31.000 And so, and she emigrated to Minnesota, if I'm not mistaken, right?

00:16:35.000 And the person who's in charge of this is an agent who's listed here.

00:16:40.000 And you spoke to this agent directly.

00:16:42.000 Is that right?

00:16:43.000 Or?

00:16:44.000 No, I didn't.

00:16:45.000 This was a recording.

00:16:51.000 It was a representative of this Republican PAC that has spent all this money and tracked down.

00:16:58.000 You know, I mean, it's outrageous that private citizens have to spend their own money to go and do the job that the FBI should have done, but they did it.

00:17:06.000 Unfortunately, because it's a private group and they're politically, obviously politically motivated.

00:17:12.000 You know, you can't put as much store on the evidence that they've uncovered as you would if it was the FBI.

00:17:18.000 But what choice do people have?

00:17:20.000 You know, in Minnesota, I mean, I guess they're desperate because Ilhan Omar is just getting away with, you know, these alleged crimes.

00:17:32.000 And meanwhile, Roger Stone was almost put in prison.

00:17:35.000 Rudy Giuliani had his door kicked in by the FBI in the office he used to run.

00:17:40.000 The Manhattan DA seems more interested in Donald Trump and his associates.

00:17:43.000 Dinesh D'Souza went to jail, had probation, and was indicted for a regulatory fine, and they went after him.

00:17:51.000 It's really dark stuff.

00:17:53.000 It really is.

00:17:53.000 And I appreciate you covering it because they went after this guy very hard for exposing this.

00:17:59.000 And it's really scary.

00:18:02.000 It's lightning.

00:18:02.000 Yeah.

00:18:03.000 And it's just kind of a pattern of our government.

00:18:05.000 Now, I want to get to another injustice that we've seen in real time, another story that just seems to disappear, but you don't let it die.

00:18:12.000 You're keeping this on life support.

00:18:14.000 So God bless you for that because it seems that everyone's doing so many different things, which is the saga of Hunter Biden.

00:18:20.000 There's so much I want to get into with this, and we can't forget the Hunter Biden story.

00:18:24.000 I want to get into his venture into becoming Pablo Picasso.

00:18:28.000 I want to get into his dealings with hookers and talking about Russian laptops. 0.55

00:18:33.000 Just give us a Hunter Biden update, and then we'll go back in this.

00:18:36.000 Where is Hunter?

00:18:37.000 You know, what is he doing now?

00:18:39.000 Is he kind of, is he on the French Riviera, you know, kind of touring with the top art experts?

00:18:45.000 Where is this golden child of the regime?

00:18:49.000 Well, Hunter's in Malibu, learning how to surf, getting fat and happy, I guess, from the looks of the photographs.

00:18:57.000 And, you know, I guess what people maybe don't understand is what a large role Hunter Biden plays in his father's inner circle in terms of really giving Joe Biden advice, political advice that goes against the advice of Joe Biden's minders.

00:19:18.000 You know, this is throughout the laptop as sort of an antagonism that Hunter Biden expresses towards the inner sanctum of political advisors of his father, who obviously try to limit his impact and influence on his father.

00:19:37.000 I would imagine, I mean, I don't know this from the laptop because that ended basically in March 2019, but I would imagine as Joe Biden's cognitive abilities go downhill, that Hunter Biden will play an outsized role in sort of protecting him and advising him.

00:19:56.000 And, you know, I don't think that's really in America's best interests.

00:20:00.000 Joe Biden calls Hunter the smartest guy I know.

00:20:04.000 And I would say that's because, well, a couple of reasons.

00:20:08.000 I mean, you know, you get the feeling that Hunter is almost blackmailing his father throughout the laptop, especially in the latter years.

00:20:18.000 You know, he's now his only son because the golden boy, Beau Biden, very tragically died of a brain tumor.

00:20:24.000 He'd always been the one that Joe had groomed to be president one day.

00:20:30.000 And that was the whole family was rallying behind that.

00:20:33.000 And Hunter's role was to be the bagman for the family, to go and get very lucrative jobs obtained for him by Joe Biden initially through his Delaware donors.

00:20:46.000 So he was paid way over the odds for his skills.

00:20:51.000 You know, all sorts of doors were opened for Hunter Biden, you know, including getting a law degree from Yale.

00:20:59.000 And every single job and appointment and board seat that he ever had in his entire career, he's now 51, was gratis care of his father and his father's influence.

00:21:12.000 And, you know, it was called the Delaware way, this sort of cronyism, this trading favours.

00:21:20.000 You know, it got Joe Biden, you know, he lives like a king, so does his family.

00:21:26.000 He says he's the poorest man in Congress, or he's always pretended that, but he doesn't really, you don't really need cash when you live in a mansion and everything is paid for.

00:21:36.000 Who needs cash? 0.99

00:21:37.000 I mean, I know billionaires that never carry wallets because who needs one?

00:21:41.000 You know, when you've got servants all around and jets at your disposal and mansions and servants and people paying your bills.

00:21:49.000 So that's pretty much the way Joe Biden and his family have existed.

00:21:53.000 And so Hunter had, you know, I feel a bit sorry for Hunter because although he has, you know, a repellent lifestyle, very, very sort of self-indulgent and has all sorts of vices that he gives into. 0.53

00:22:11.000 You know, he is an addict.

00:22:13.000 And I just kept on coming back when I was going through the laptop, which I've been doing for, you know, since October, this sort of question, which is what kind of a father puts his addicted son in front of gushing torrents of cash?

00:22:33.000 And, you know, he also, Hunter Biden was, when my book comes out, I think the full extent of this will be apparent, but it only became apparent, sort of unfolded for me as I burrowed deeper and deeper into the laptop, that the level of access that Hunter Biden had in China and in Russia, like the very, very inner sanctum of the ruling classes,

00:23:00.000 as close to President Xi and Vladimir Putin as you can get.

00:23:04.000 And this bumbling, as well, his uncle, Joe's brother, Jim Biden, who was sort of his role seemed to be in the family as Hunter fell apart was to, you know, look after Hunter, pick him up when he really crashed and send him off to very expensive rehabs and just keep tabs on him.

00:23:24.000 But Jim Biden is, I'm told, the sort of the brains of the operation.

00:23:28.000 And he was there to make sure that Hunter and the rest of the family, including Joe, got their money's worth in the latest China deal.

00:23:37.000 And, you know, the two of them bumbling around these geopolitical minefields, it just beggars belief.

00:23:49.000 And you can only think that our intelligence services must have been keeping tabs on them.

00:23:56.000 I mean, if they weren't, it is the, you know, utter dereliction of duty, but they must have.

00:24:01.000 I mean, he had Secret Service following him for a lot of these trips.

00:24:05.000 And then when he stopped the Secret Service, they must have been watching him.

00:24:10.000 And I think I've come to the conclusion that, you know, when the Post, when we ran our stories last October, a few weeks before the election, and the rest of the media ignored it and big tech shut us down.

00:24:26.000 And the pretext, the fig leaf that they had was these 50 former intelligence and defense operatives, James Clapper, John Brennan, I think, organized it.

00:24:38.000 But, you know, the great and the good of the last few years, people who have presided over disasters and intelligence failures, you have to say.

00:24:47.000 But anyway, the best and the brightest of the intelligence community.

00:24:51.000 And they came out and they declared in this open letter that the laptop and our stories had the hallmarks of Russian disinformation.

00:25:00.000 They never looked at the laptop.

00:25:02.000 They never contacted the New York Post and asked us to have a look.

00:25:05.000 It would have been probably happy to show some of it to them.

00:25:09.000 But no, they just decided through their great expertise to completely trash our stories and the laptop and give a fig leaf to everyone else who was deciding that they weren't going to cover it.

00:25:25.000 And so that story was censored and it was suppressed.

00:25:27.000 It was a really important story that went to the heart of the character and the national security risks of one of the candidates who ended up being the winning candidate.

00:25:37.000 And you look at polls that were taken afterwards that say that Biden voters, enough of them in Battleground States, if they had known about this, if they'd known about the FBI investigation into Hunter Biden and Jim Biden, they would not have voted for Joe Biden and the election outcome would have been different.

00:25:56.000 That's a really consequential censorship move.

00:26:00.000 And I think that it comes from the intelligence agencies wanting to cover up their own complicity in whatever it was that we know that Hunter, Jim, and Joe Biden as a partner, a silent partner, but a financial partner behind the scenes when he was vice president was doing.

00:28:04.000 I want to make sure I heard you correctly that in your book, you were able to review contents of the laptop.

00:28:11.000 Oh, I've had the laptop.

00:28:13.000 Yes.

00:28:14.000 Of course.

00:28:16.000 Yeah, I've scanned it.

00:28:17.000 You're more interested than the FBI is in the laptop.

00:28:20.000 That's so interesting.

00:28:22.000 Well, I mean, I'm hoping that the FBI has had this laptop since December 2019.

00:28:29.000 Federal agents also seized another laptop that was in Massachusetts, in Newburyport, Massachusetts, in the premises of one of Hunter's therapists, Keith Ablow.

00:28:44.000 That was a FDA or anyway, some DEA raid, completely unrelated, but they seized that laptop.

00:28:53.000 I'm told that that then was given back to Hunter.

00:28:57.000 But we know that the FBI has at least one laptop in their possession.

00:29:01.000 We also know that Rudy Giuliani and Bernie Carrick, the former commissioner of police for New York, drove to Delaware and gave the FBI another copy of the hard drive, which is basically a mirror image of the laptop contents, because they were concerned about, you know, what they thought was sort of child porn material.

00:29:23.000 I've looked at it.

00:29:24.000 I don't think that is a problem.

00:29:26.000 I know that's a big narrative that's been running.

00:29:28.000 I don't think that, I mean, there's nothing I've seen apart from one innocent image that would say that Hunter Biden had any problem that's been alleged about pedophilia.

00:29:44.000 Okay, that's a big one that people have been saying that on the laptop that some of it's circulating on the Chinese internet and that came from, is there any truth that?

00:29:53.000 That's photoshopped.

00:29:54.000 Yeah, there's images I've seen that have that are, well, they don't exist on the laptop, let me tell you that.

00:30:00.000 So whether they're photoshopped or I don't know, they've got them somewhere else.

00:30:05.000 And there's an image that I've seen that is sort of one image and there are a series of that encounter with the woman that's on the laptop in which you can see that she's an adult, but the image that's circulating, you wouldn't be able to tell.

00:30:21.000 You can't see her face.

00:30:23.000 She just looks like a small adult woman.

00:30:26.000 And so that's been offered as proof of pedophilia again.

00:30:30.000 But again, it's not.

00:30:31.000 That's an adult.

00:30:32.000 So look, I've seen nothing on the laptop that would indicate any interest, any sexual interest that there's a lot of sexual material on the laptop, a lot of porn that Hunter made that he uploaded to Pornhub and various other sites, but nothing that would indicate an unhealthy interest in children.

00:30:50.000 He uploaded to public websites.

00:30:53.000 Is that right?

00:30:55.000 That's right.

00:30:56.000 Yeah, that's, yeah, if Donald Trump Jr. did that, I think that that would probably be well covered by the regime media.

00:31:02.000 I think that would probably be known by almost everybody.

00:31:05.000 Most people don't even know that.

00:31:06.000 So then you also said, though, that he was in the inner sanctum of Chinese and Russian officials.

00:31:12.000 Is that right?

00:31:13.000 I mean, but didn't the DOJ just arrest Tom Barrick for doing something similar to that, being in the inner sanctum of an Arab nation, if I remember correctly? 0.97

00:31:23.000 How is this not against foreign agent laws?

00:31:25.000 Well, look, I mean, that's what the FBI is looking at, obviously.

00:31:29.000 I mean, that's one of the, there are several investigations going on into Hunter Biden and Jim Biden.

00:31:36.000 But on Hunter, we're told, I mean, he's admitted himself that they're looking, federal authorities looking into tax issues.

00:31:46.000 He says he's very confident that he'll get out of that.

00:31:48.000 And there certainly is a lot of evidence on the laptop after his partner, Devin Archer, was arrested and convicted, and then conviction overturned and then upheld.

00:31:59.000 And he's waiting sentencing.

00:32:00.000 And he doesn't seem to be at all concerned about it.

00:32:02.000 But anyway, after Devin Archer was arrested, there was a lot of activity going on with lots of accountants and lawyers basically cleaning up Hunter's affairs.

00:32:12.000 And I mean, it's perfectly legal to pay taxes that you've neglected to pay in previous years and pay obviously fines as well.

00:32:20.000 And he did all that.

00:32:21.000 So there may not be nothing that comes from that.

00:32:24.000 I don't know.

00:32:25.000 And then Farah, Foreign Agent Registration Act.

00:32:30.000 I mean, you know, I don't see how there's not some violation of that that you can, you know, that's alleged that you can see on the laptop.

00:32:40.000 But that's something that the FBI will be looking at.

00:32:44.000 And remember, this is a violation that was never treated seriously until the Trump people was used as a weapon against them.

00:32:52.000 So, I mean, fairness would say if it's used against Trump people, it ought to be used against Democrats.

00:32:57.000 But, you know, there's not no fairness or just treatment in the law.

00:33:02.000 Yeah, it was written actually go after Nazis in the 30s and 40s.

00:33:06.000 And it's a very loosely written law, which again, it goes back to this idea, the more laws, the less justice.

00:33:12.000 They just kind of, they brushed off the criminal code.

00:33:14.000 They said, what do we got to go after these guys?

00:33:16.000 And that became kind of an attack vector.

00:33:19.000 But fairness, I guess, is fairness, but I have no such confidence in the system.

00:35:31.000 Am I seeing reports correctly that Australia has basically become like a biomedical police state?

00:35:36.000 I mean, is it as locked down as it seems from afar?

00:35:40.000 Can you give us any insight into that?

00:35:42.000 Look, I mean, it looks terrible.

00:35:44.000 I have friends in New South Wales, which is the least police state of the lot, the freest of the lot.

00:35:52.000 And, you know, they're locked down in a long, I mean, it's been, I think, two months, and they're looking at until the end of September.

00:36:01.000 But I think most of the really ugly images that you're seeing come from Victoria, which, you know, we joke and call Victoriastan because it's like it's a Democrat state, effectively.

00:36:13.000 It's a Labor state, you know, be like California or New York or, you know, Chicago. 0.78

00:36:19.000 And the Premier, like the governor, we call Chairman Dan, because he and he, and Victoria is the only state that has signed on to a Belt and Road initiative deal with the Chinese.

00:36:33.000 And so, you know, you see the police and the police there have been notoriously jackbooted thugs and notoriously in the past have had serious corruption problems.

00:36:46.000 I've been very down on the Victorian police for a long time, in part because they framed Cardinal George Pell.

00:36:54.000 He went to jail, innocent man, a great man, went to jail.

00:37:00.000 He was number three at the Vatican and went to jail over child sex charges that were completely bogus and that was overturned.

00:37:07.000 And that was a case where the Victorian police had a commissioner had a personal beef alleged against Cardinal Pell.

00:37:18.000 So whether or not that played into it, who knows?

00:37:23.000 But it certainly looked pretty bad.

00:37:25.000 And so I've always had a negative view of the Victorian police and they've just confirmed it with their, you know, firing rubber bullets into peaceful crowds who are trying to protest their ninth lockdown.

00:37:38.000 And, you know, like I think Australia, the last time I looked was four deaths in one day and these were people in their 80s.

00:37:45.000 They still have this idea of zero COVID, which is ridiculous.

00:37:51.000 I mean, especially with a very contagious variant and there'll be more of them in Delta.

00:37:57.000 And, you know, a very slow vaccine uptake.

00:38:00.000 That was their big problem.

00:38:01.000 I think they were complacent because they closed the borders early.

00:38:05.000 And thanks largely to Donald Trump closing off China flights on January 31st of last year.

00:38:13.000 That was the only thing that actually spurred the Australian government and the New Zealand government into closing their borders a couple of days later.

00:38:21.000 And I was very exercised about this because I have a son there about to go back to Sydney University, which has a huge number of Chinese students that were just about to fly in after Chinese New Year, I think it was.

00:38:36.000 And the government in Australia was just completely complacent.

00:38:39.000 And the universities were putting a lot of pressure on the government to let them in and would have been really catastrophic. 0.57

00:38:46.000 But because Donald Trump made that unilateral decision, that was what forced the Australians' hand.

00:38:54.000 So I think it's never really said, but I think Australia really owes a debt of gratitude to Donald Trump.

00:39:01.000 Now, in New South Wales, at least, they're ramping up the vaccinations.

00:39:05.000 So maybe it'll come back.

00:39:07.000 But I think it's really been an eye-opener for the world and for Australians as well about the lack of freedoms there.

00:39:13.000 It's a country that never had a war of independence.

00:39:17.000 The British gave Australia its independence.

00:39:20.000 It doesn't have a Bill of Rights.

00:39:23.000 But I will say, like England, appearances are worse than reality because while you have authorities out there, you know, just behaving like authoritarian dictators and saying the most appalling things.

00:39:39.000 On the ground, the actual people are paying no attention.

00:39:42.000 Maybe it's the function of having been a convict state and paying no attention to your overlords.

00:39:47.000 But I think Australians generally are just getting on with life in a quiet fashion, much the same way that New Yorkers did throughout the pandemic, you know, the tail end of the pandemic.

00:39:58.000 You know, your rulers may be overreacting and hyperactive and neurotic, but most Australians are pretty pragmatic.

00:40:06.000 I was going to ask about Australian culture and you kind of answered that.
