00:00:00.000 Hey, everybody.
00:00:00.000 Today in the Charlie Kirk Show, I reflect on the campus event at the University of Illinois Chicago.
00:00:06.000 And then we talk about a looming Trump indictment.
00:00:09.000 And is there a bank run that's about to happen?
00:00:11.000 Will a major American bank just collapsed?
00:00:14.000 We talk about that and more.
00:00:15.000 Email me directly, freedom at charliekirk.com.

00:00:35.000 Buckle up, everybody.
00:00:36.000 Here we go.
00:00:37.000 Charlie, what you've done is incredible here.
00:00:39.000 Maybe Charlie Kirk is on the college campuses.
00:00:41.000 I want you to know we are lucky to have Charlie Kirk.
00:00:44.000 Charlie Kirk's running the White House, folks.
00:00:48.000 I want to thank Charlie.
00:00:49.000 He's an incredible guy.
00:00:50.000 His spirit, his love of this country, he's done an amazing job building one of the most powerful youth organizations ever created, Turning Point USA.
00:00:58.000 We will not embrace the ideas that have destroyed countries, destroyed lives, and we are going to fight for freedom on campuses across the country.
00:01:07.000 That's why we are here.
00:01:10.000 Brought to you by the Loan Experts I Trust, Andrew and Todd at Sierra Pacific Mortgage at andrewandTodd.com.
00:01:18.000 There is a bank collapse that is going to impact the entire economy.
00:01:23.000 That is the Silicon Valley Bank is basically closed.
00:01:27.000 And this is not insignificant news.
00:01:29.000 This has caught my attention, and I think it's bigger than people realize.
00:01:32.000 I think we might be seeing Lehman Brothers 2.0, Bear Stearns 2.0.
00:01:37.000 I hope I am wrong.
00:01:38.000 We're going to cover this, and it's happening in real time.
00:01:41.000 In fact, we just received an email that is showing how nervous people are about this pending bank run.
00:01:48.000 One of the largest banks in America, top 20 banks, $300 billion in assets.
00:01:54.000 Is that right?
00:01:55.000 And they're collapsed.
00:01:56.000 The stock has stopped trading.
00:01:57.000 Federal regulators are taking over the bank.
00:02:01.000 We have said for quite some time, $200 billion.
00:02:05.000 And look, I don't want to go overboard.
00:02:06.000 I don't want to overly panic, but I'll show you this email here.
00:02:10.000 Literally, one of the vendors that uses, that we use for our show has told us to stop sending the money to the Silicon Valley Bank because they don't think the money is any good.
00:02:20.000 So we'll talk about that, but I want to reflect first on the evening we had at the University of Illinois Chicago.
00:02:27.000 Last night, we had an amazing event at the University of Illinois Chicago, and it is one of the most powerful examples that I have ever lived through regarding the lies and the power of the media against reality.
00:02:47.000 The Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune, the Tribune, which used to be a respectable paper, which is now a rag, covered our event.
00:02:57.000 The event was attended by well over 1,000 students.
00:03:00.000 1,000 students in downtown Chicago came to hear a lecture, came to come here a speech about America, about liberty, about freedom, about the Constitution, about separation of powers, consent to the governed, about why wokeism is such a destructive force to our society.
00:03:20.000 We had a couple of people that came up to the question line and they disagreed.
00:03:24.000 We had one guy that was shouting out stuff throughout the speech.
00:03:26.000 It's nothing new.
00:03:27.000 We're used to that.
00:03:28.000 But honestly, it's one of the best events we've ever done in the history of Turning Point USA.
00:03:34.000 The spirit, the love of the nation, the love of the ideas was one of the best events we've ever had.
00:03:40.000 And I encourage you to watch it on our Rumble feed.
00:03:43.000 You could watch it on our social media channels.
00:03:44.000 And what was so interesting is that the students that came up were from all over the world.
00:03:50.000 First generation immigrants from Brazil, second generation Mexican-American, first generation.
00:03:56.000 I think we had somebody from Vietnam.
00:03:59.000 We had people from all over the world that came up and asked questions.
00:04:02.000 So, Charlie, I love what you're doing.
00:04:04.000 I love what you stand for.
00:04:05.000 I love what Turning Point USA stands for.
00:04:07.000 By all objective measures, it was a very diverse group.
00:04:13.000 Now, I only mention that because if you were to read the news articles about what happened, like the Chicago Sun-Times, you'd get a completely different impression.
00:04:24.000 The Chicago Sun-Times leads with the article: Student Groups Protest Charlie Kirk Appearance at UIC by Emmanuel Camarillo.
00:04:34.000 Protesters say Candace Owens and Charlie Kirk promote anti-LGBTQ views.
00:04:40.000 Quote, I think it's disgusting that the university has these people on campus.
00:04:45.000 And effectively, the entire article goes through just doing the press work for the activists.
00:04:51.000 But what bothers me is that it's so far from the truth.
00:04:55.000 Did this reporter go into the room?
00:04:58.000 I don't think he did.
00:05:00.000 I don't think this reporter covered a single question, comment, or sentiment of what actually happened at the event.
00:05:06.000 The Tribune was there, and they cover the Tribune story, it's just the same.
00:05:12.000 The Chicago Tribune says UIC students protest conservative speakers, Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens.
00:05:19.000 But that's not the takeaway.
00:05:21.000 How about you guys cover Chicago Tribune or Chicago Sun-Times?
00:05:24.000 That a thousand students of all different backgrounds, of all different walks of life, attended a conservative speech, not the fact that there were 40 or 50 protesters outside.
00:05:36.000 You see, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times are so intellectually and morally bankrupt that they can't get themselves to admit that our ideas might actually resonate and be popular.
00:05:50.000 Here's my response to the Chicago Tribune live at the event yesterday in front of a thousand-plus-person crowd in downtown Chicago.
00:05:59.000 And all they want to talk about is Antifa outside.
00:06:01.000 They don't want to talk about how popular ideas are, about how people said repeatedly, we had an amazing young black woman come up and talk about her testimony for pro-life values.
00:06:11.000 Not a mention of that by the Chicago Tribune or Chicago Sun-Times.
00:06:14.000 I'm going to tell you the significance of this, but play cut 140.
00:06:17.000 I saw this.
00:06:18.000 Somebody sent me this article of the Tribune's coverage of our upcoming event here, which was basically a press release for the Apparatch outside.
00:06:26.000 Students at UIC are planning to protest a Turning Point USA College Event Thursday featuring far-right speakers, Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens' past use of hate speech and discriminatory language against marginalized groups indicates that these figures are in search of furthering divisions and triggering people rather than engaging in meaningful discussion.
00:06:48.000 We don't care about race around here, we care about your ideas and your values.
00:06:52.000 So I just think it's been one of the most beautiful question lines we've ever done that make those idiots outside look like what they are.
00:06:59.000 Normally, I don't give these people any oxygen, but these people are my hometown papers.
00:07:05.000 But also, you know, I had a coffee this morning with some of our supporters at Turning Point USA.
00:07:11.000 And one of them did not attend the event.
00:07:13.000 And he said, wow, I read the article in the Tribune.
00:07:15.000 It looked like a really rough night.
00:07:17.000 I said, no, no, no, it was not a rough night.
00:07:19.000 It was a great night.
00:07:20.000 He said, oh, really?
00:07:20.000 The Tribune made it seem as if there were all these protesters.
00:07:23.000 And did the event even go on?
00:07:24.000 And how was it?
00:07:26.000 And that shows in real time the power of their lies.
00:07:31.000 In real time, I saw that somebody believed the headline, oh, wow, tons of protesters, all this calamity.
00:07:36.000 And it was the opposite.
00:07:38.000 It was an event full of patriotism.
00:07:42.000 It was peaceful.
00:07:43.000 It was beautiful.
00:07:44.000 These are people that want to take back Chicago.
00:07:46.000 These are people we literally was incredible.
00:07:48.000 We had a whole group of Romanians there.
00:07:50.000 We had a whole group of Brazilians there.
00:07:53.000 We had a whole group of Brazilian Americans, Romanian Americans.
00:07:56.000 The point is that the big criticism that the Tribune launches against us is that we're racist and we're bigoted.
00:08:03.000 How about you go in and actually talk to some of the attendees?
00:08:06.000 But this is not just annoying.
00:08:11.000 This does real damage to our country.
00:08:14.000 This does real damage to the core fiber, the fabric of who we are, because then people believe it.
00:08:22.000 And I mean, I've never seen in my 10 years of doing this such dishonest reporting of event versus reality.
00:08:33.000 I mean, sometimes they'll say, okay, Charlie Kirk and Candace have an event.
00:08:36.000 They don't even mention the event.
00:08:38.000 That's what's so amazing.
00:08:40.000 Instead, they mention the protests as if the protests are the thing worth focusing on, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times.
00:08:46.000 That's not reporting.
00:08:48.000 No wonder why these newspapers are going bankrupt.
00:08:50.000 And I hope they go bankrupt.
00:08:52.000 Because there's something really exceptional that happened in Chicago that is noteworthy.
00:08:56.000 That in one of the bluest, most Democrat cities in America, on a college campus, mind you, a college campus where the violent extremists were able to cancel Donald Trump's appearance seven years earlier.
00:09:07.000 We're able to have an event that is focused on core American ideas where we fill up an entire auditorium and we are very well received and people are encouraged and they're filled up and they want to do something positive for their nation.
00:09:21.000 That's a big story.
00:09:23.000 I don't care if you're a left-wing journalist for the trib or for the Sun-Times.
00:09:27.000 Maybe just mention it or notice it.
00:09:29.000 You can have your snarky one-liners in there, but maybe they should say, wow, this is one of the largest conservative events in the city of Chicago of the last couple of years.
00:09:37.000 And I will challenge somebody, find me a larger, more successful conservative event in Chicago over the last couple of years.
00:09:46.000 You won't find one.
00:09:47.000 But no, instead, they want to mention that a couple people are protesting on the side of the street because they're trying to build up the resistance and crush the actual truth.
00:09:58.000 It's one of the most dishonest things I've seen in quite some time.
00:10:01.000 But these are not journalists.
00:10:02.000 These are activists that masquerade as journalists.
00:10:05.000 And they're afraid to acknowledge the reality that our ideas are resonating, that Turning Point USA is building a movement, that what we are saying is rational, what we are saying is reasonable.
00:10:15.000 They don't have a single quote in these articles about what we talked about, about the dialogue, about how we invited people who disagree with us to go to the front of the line.
00:10:25.000 Instead, the Chicago Sun-Times only has pictures of the protests.
00:10:29.000 If you're going to cover the protests, why don't you walk into the room and see what people are saying in there?
00:10:35.000 This does serious damage to our country.
00:10:38.000 The media was called the enemy of the American people by Donald Trump.
00:10:42.000 And boy, when they act like this, that is certainly true.
00:10:47.000 Hey, everybody, this is Charlie Kirk.
00:10:48.000 We are saving babies with pre-born.
00:10:50.000 What are you doing today?
00:10:51.000 When you introduce a girl to her baby by providing an ultrasound, you are giving her the truth at the most important time in her life.
00:10:58.000 And more than 85% of the time, she will choose life.
00:11:01.000 You're also giving her access to a two-year mentorship program and a chance to receive free maternity clothes, baby clothes, diapers, parenting classes, but perhaps, and most importantly, someone to walk alongside her and be a friend during the most crucial time of her life.
00:11:16.000 $140 gives five mothers a free ultrasound and saves babies.
00:11:21.000 $280 can save 10 babies.
00:11:24.000 And just $28 a month can save a baby a month for less than $1 a day.
00:11:28.000 And a $15,000 gift will provide an ultrasound machine that will save lives for years to come.
00:11:33.000 Whether you want to save one baby or five or hundreds, that opportunity is just a phone caller, click away.
00:11:38.000 I'm a donor to pre-born, and you should be too.
00:11:40.000 Call 833-850-2229 or go to preborn.org.
00:11:45.000 That is preborn.org.
00:11:49.000 So let me just show you why they have to lie about us.
00:11:53.000 Let me show you the power of what we are doing on these college campuses, of what our Turning Point USA students are accomplishing every single day, what courage can do, why bravery is needed.
00:12:06.000 Let me tell you and let me show you why they have to protest us, why the Chicago Sun-Times has to misrepresent and not even cover us, not even ask for comment, because they know that conservative ideas have the potential to be persuasive and popular.
00:12:28.000 Cut 115 is a student comes up to the question line to ask me a question, but he makes a comment that I respond, and I will say it again on this program.
00:12:38.000 It is why I do what I do.
00:12:42.000 Charlie, why do you travel 300 days a year?
00:12:44.000 I don't anymore.
00:12:45.000 I travel a lot, but I used to just about a year and a half ago.
00:12:48.000 Charlie, why did you, actually, I actually have the final tally.
00:12:52.000 It's somewhere around 2,600 days of travel over the last decade.
00:12:57.000 It's about 90% of the time on the road.
00:12:59.000 And I wouldn't trade it for the world.
00:13:01.000 I saw this beautiful country many times over and got a lot of things done.
00:13:04.000 Why do you do that?
00:13:06.000 I do it because of this clip you're about to watch.
00:13:10.000 I do it because I believe that our ideas, our values can improve lives and improve our country.
00:13:18.000 Play cut 115.
00:13:20.000 Yeah, Charlie, I also want to thank you specifically because I used to be a Bernie Sanders reporter.
00:13:27.000 I used to be a Democratic Socialist.
00:13:29.000 It was one of your video that really woke me up.
00:13:32.000 And you're an inspiration.
00:13:33.000 You're awesome.
00:13:34.000 Thank you.
00:13:43.000 You are why I do what I do.
00:13:46.000 Incredibly powerful.
00:13:48.000 That's why the Chicago Tribune has to lie about me.
00:13:51.000 That's why the Chicago Sun-Times has to lie about me.
00:13:55.000 That's why the Anti-Defamation League has to lie about Turning Point USA because of that clip right there.
00:14:01.000 Because when our ideas are given a short hearing, a YouTube clip here, a Rumble clip there, a tweet here, a one-off dialogue here or there, all of a sudden we are able to challenge the lies that have been filling our society.
00:14:17.000 The lights turn on and they say, maybe I have been lied to my entire life.
00:14:22.000 The truth has a pattern of being able to do that.
00:14:26.000 And that should give you hope, everybody.
00:14:27.000 He literally said, I was a Bernie Sanders liberal.
00:14:30.000 And thanks to the work of Turning Point USA and your videos, I have now been able to wake up.
00:14:37.000 That's a beautiful thing.
00:14:39.000 And that should just give you confidence, everybody.
00:14:41.000 We have to push harder.
00:14:42.000 We have to get more people to see the truth.
00:14:45.000 We got to do more videos, more podcasts.
00:14:47.000 We have to challenge these lies.
00:14:49.000 There's some emails I get, Charlie, it's all lost.
00:14:52.000 People can't be converted.
00:14:53.000 That is nonsense.
00:14:54.000 I don't believe that for a second.
00:14:56.000 If that was true, I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing by going to these campuses.
00:15:00.000 And boy, is that encouraging.
00:15:02.000 Boy, is that just a needed shot in the arm to see that people are not just getting fired up that already agree with me.
00:15:09.000 That I know is happening.
00:15:11.000 People that aren't just getting braver, but people are actually changing their worldview to be properly anchored in truth.
00:15:21.000 Political enlightenment is a threat to the regime.
00:15:25.000 Their narrative is built on a total and complete house of cards.
00:15:29.000 And if the Chicago Tribune or the Chicago Sun-Times or any of these left-wing papers had a shred of honesty or integrity, which they don't, they would have mentioned that I had an open mic for 50 minutes last evening and anybody could have come to the front of the line and asked a question.
00:15:44.000 Anybody.
00:15:45.000 You could say that I'm an awful person.
00:15:46.000 You call me a bigot.
00:15:47.000 Could say all the things you were saying outside, and I would have allowed you to do it, but I would have responded respectfully and firmly and factually.
00:15:54.000 But no, dialogue is not a value to the left.
00:15:58.000 No, they're trying to stop speech at every single turn.
00:16:01.000 They're trying to shut us up because they know that speech is actually a threat.
00:16:05.000 And by the way, they're trying to do it now next week.
00:16:08.000 We're going to University of California, Davis, on Tuesday.
00:16:10.000 And a professor, that's right.
00:16:12.000 I want to make sure I'm clear about this.
00:16:14.000 A professor wrote this article.
00:16:15.000 This is what they write about because these are cowards.
00:16:17.000 I want to invite this guy to come to our event.
00:16:19.000 I would love to be able to speak to him.
00:16:22.000 And he says this following thing.
00:16:24.000 It's actually, it is really slanderous in one way.
00:16:31.000 He says, Charlie Kirk, a far-right grifter who fronts Turning Point USA, an organization of Hitler, enjoyers with a special animus for trans people.
00:16:40.000 That is libel.
00:16:41.000 We're going to do everything we can to hold this guy legally accountable, writing in a paper of an upcoming campus event saying that Turning Point USA is an organization of Hitler, Hitler Enjoyer, Hitler Enjoyers.
00:16:52.000 This guy is a professor.
00:16:54.000 You're welcome to come to the event, tough guy, Professor Joshua Clover.
00:16:58.000 Something tells me you're not going to do that.
00:17:00.000 You can have the mic and you can tell me why I'm wrong.
00:17:02.000 You're also not a very good writer.
00:17:04.000 I don't know how you ever got your PhD.
00:17:06.000 I'd love to read your dissertation.
00:17:07.000 I don't think I would learn very much.

00:18:47.000 I'm hoping it's up on screen because it's just too good to be true.
00:18:50.000 And that is, what is this guy's name?
00:18:52.000 Joshua Clover.
00:18:53.000 You know, it's really interesting.
00:18:55.000 He, despite the fact that he just writes really sloppily and comes across as a really low IQ person, he's really widely published.
00:19:03.000 So I hope he shows up to the event.
00:19:04.000 He's welcome to challenge me to my face or let's see if he's an intellectual coward like most people are so arrogant.
00:19:10.000 By the way, he is prominently featured on our professor watch list as well.
00:19:13.000 So our team does a great job.
00:19:15.000 By the way, Turning Point USA runs a great professor watch list.
00:19:18.000 Oh, yeah.
00:19:19.000 He says, I hope it will be uncontroversial.
00:19:21.000 He says this, that Israel should be ended.
00:19:24.000 That's really a deep thought, Professor Clover.
00:19:27.000 He says, I mean, it's easier to shoot cops when their backs are turned.
00:19:31.000 No, that's what he said.
00:19:33.000 That's a professor.
00:19:34.000 He literally, that's why I love the professor watch list because we actually capture what these people say.
00:19:40.000 He said as a direct quote, he said, it's easier to shoot police officers when their backs are turned.
00:19:45.000 He says, quote, I am thankful that every living police officer will one day be dead, some by their own hand, some by others, too many of old age.
00:19:55.000 This is a professor at University of California, Davis.
00:19:58.000 I don't, maybe he doesn't like when people actually mention that he's calling for the open killing of police officers.
00:20:03.000 Praise God for our turning point USA team.
00:20:05.000 That's why they hate the professor watch list.
00:20:07.000 But you're welcome to come, Professor Clover.
00:20:09.000 Come tell me why you think police officers should be killed because that's your openly stated position.
00:20:13.000 You're more than welcome to attend.
00:20:15.000 Okay, we have something here that I want to talk about.
00:20:18.000 A very troubling economic development that's happening in real time.
00:20:22.000 This is a really big story, and I hope it does not spread.
00:20:26.000 And I do not want to add to panic.
00:20:28.000 Let me be very clear.
00:20:29.000 I'm here to present the facts.
00:20:30.000 I'm here to tell you what is happening.
00:20:32.000 And then I will editorialize a little bit.
00:20:34.000 But topics like this can make people very anxious and very uneasy.
00:20:38.000 So I want to make sure I'm clear and specific.
00:20:41.000 But here's what we do know.
00:20:42.000 We do know that one of the largest banks in America has collapsed today, Silicon Valley Bank.
00:20:47.000 So let me read an email that we have from one of our vendors here at Turning Point on air here.
00:20:52.000 I'm not going to tell you which one.
00:20:53.000 Give an idea of how fragile the situation is.
00:20:57.000 One of our vendors that we use to help produce our show for some of our technology says, as of today, we kindly request that you hold any pending payments to Silicon Valley Bank for us and instead follow the instructions below.
00:21:10.000 For bank transfer, go to this bank and send us a check here.
00:21:13.000 So that's just one.
00:21:14.000 We also have team members that have loans and mortgages with Silicon Valley Bank that are very nervous because the entire bank has collapsed.
00:21:23.000 Let's play a news clip of this, PlayCup 117.
00:21:26.000 To go from the headlines yesterday to now the bank officially failing.
00:21:29.000 Anybody who lived through 2008 remembers that when you have a crisis of confidence, things can move pretty quickly here.
00:21:35.000 But yes, the FDIC is taking the bank into receivership.
00:21:38.000 This, guys, is one of the largest bank failures in history.
00:21:42.000 Remember, it's one of the top 20 banks in the United States.
00:21:45.000 At the end of December, it had more than $200 billion in assets.
00:21:49.000 By comparison, Washington Mutual was about $300 billion.
00:21:53.000 So just a little comparison there about what kind of a moment we are sitting in here.
00:21:58.000 Now, look, I don't want to be cruel, but let me read something from Silicon Valley Bank's website.
00:22:04.000 Let me read SVB.com.
00:22:07.000 Silicon Valley Bank is dedicated to expanding our commitments to create a more diverse and equitable and inclusive company culture and innovation ecosystem.
00:22:15.000 Is this the Silicon Valley collapse the beginning of the collapse of the woke economy?
00:22:23.000 You see, if you read Silicon Valley Bank's website, they have an entire portion of their website and their company culture dedicated to DEI, diversity, equity, inclusion.
00:22:34.000 How's that working out for you, Silicon Valley Bank?
00:22:36.000 Oh, they have a whole statement.
00:22:38.000 They say we have a whole team.
00:22:40.000 They say workforce diversity metrics.
00:22:42.000 Here they have here.
00:22:43.000 They say that they're very proud of how diverse their workforce is, about how many people they have in their senior leadership, about how they have an equal opportunity supplier diversity score.
00:22:54.000 Oh, really, Silicon Valley Bank, maybe you should have been more, I don't know, concerned about whether or not you're able to make good loans and keep your depositors secure.
00:23:03.000 Now, it's very possible that I am overly exaggerating the woke component here, but I do find it fascinating because if you go to Silicon Valley's website, it is not de-emphasized.
00:23:13.000 It is right there in your face.
00:23:14.000 Look how good of a people we are.
00:23:16.000 Look how strong of a company you are because our diversity is our strength.
00:23:19.000 Hey, Silicon Valley Bank, is diversity still your strength right now?
00:23:23.000 Are you a stronger solvent company because of your diversity?
00:23:26.000 Are you able to be a company that, I don't know, is a bank that is open because of your diversity?
00:23:31.000 Of course not.
00:23:32.000 It's rubbish.
00:23:33.000 When you're running a company, diversity is not your strength.
00:23:36.000 Your customers can be your strength.
00:23:38.000 Your products are your strength.
00:23:39.000 Your employees are your strength.
00:23:42.000 I sure hope that this is not a canary in the coal mine.
00:23:47.000 Right now, the market is actually not acting too jittery.
00:23:51.000 The market is down, what, 100 points?
00:23:52.000 It was down 500 or 600 points yesterday.
00:23:55.000 This is one of the largest bank collapses in American history that funds a lot of venture work and a lot of startups and a lot of entrepreneurs.
00:24:04.000 We might be seeing the first domino of what we have predicted as a 2023 economic calamity and recession.
00:24:11.000 Silicon Valley Bank was one of the top 20 banks in America.
00:24:16.000 Well, hundreds of billions of dollars in assets.
00:24:18.000 And now the bank has officially been shut down by California state regulators because it is now insolvent.
00:24:25.000 You got to wonder, what were they, who were they underwriting loans to?
00:24:31.000 Probably a lot of crypto businesses?
00:24:34.000 Or were they politicizing the loan process?
00:24:36.000 Just a question.
00:24:38.000 This all happened shockingly fast.
00:24:40.000 And I sure hope we don't see more bank collapses.
00:24:44.000 The collapse has now occurred because on Wednesday night, the bank made a surprise announcement that it needed to raise more than $2 billion in stock.
00:24:51.000 A month ago, did they not see this coming?
00:24:54.000 Well, apparently the bank had a cash shortfall because it had a large number of startup companies as depositors, and those startups have pulled out their funds.
00:25:03.000 Oh, you mean that the startup companies that are all in the tech space that is hyper-inflated, fragile, and ready to collapse?
00:25:11.000 Venture capital then pulled out its money and Peter Thiel's founder fund told people to get out and the cascade went from there.
00:25:17.000 There's a lot of fear that this could turn into a wider contagion event dragging down the financial industry.
00:25:23.000 Bank stocks are all off in Europe and down 4% in a single day.
00:25:28.000 Deutsche Bank is down 7%.
00:25:30.000 Michael Burry, the man who made a fortune anticipating the 2000 crisis, said this might be our end run.
00:25:37.000 How can you be one of the top 20 banks in America and be insolvent in a matter of days?
00:25:42.000 What exactly is going on with those?
00:25:44.000 I would love to see their balance sheets at some of these banks.
00:25:47.000 And not to try to, you know, dissent, try to erode confidence, but is JPMorgan doing this?
00:25:55.000 Is Wells Fargo doing this?
00:25:57.000 I mean, how is this possible?
00:25:59.000 How, first of all, is one of the most heavily regulated industries, post-Lehman Brothers and post-Bear Stearns and post-08, how does a bank collapse in just a couple of days?
00:26:11.000 How, what, what are you giving loans out to?
00:26:14.000 Oh, no, no, but you go to their website.
00:26:16.000 You go to the Silicon Valley website.
00:26:18.000 They're all, this is what they say.
00:26:19.000 They say, we believe inclusion ignites innovation.
00:26:23.000 We embrace a culture of diversity.
00:26:25.000 We are intentionally and strategically working for a world where every client and employee learn about our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion.
00:26:32.000 So then you download the document.
00:26:34.000 It's this super long PDF file that they have at Silicon Valley Bank website where you can actually read through their diversity statement.
00:26:41.000 You could read through their equity statement.
00:26:43.000 Didn't do them much good, obviously, because they were insolvent in a couple of days.
00:26:46.000 They're a bunch of either they're incompetent or they're thieves or they're a little bit of both.
00:26:51.000 There are some allegations around the CEO selling stock.
00:26:54.000 I don't know if that's true.
00:26:55.000 We'll look into that.
00:26:56.000 I don't want to get into that.
00:26:58.000 By the way, this is actually the second California lender to fail.
00:27:01.000 Another firm, Silvergate Capital, just went under because it was heavily involved in cryptocurrency.
00:27:07.000 A couple weeks ago, one of my friends that I know in the real estate development space called me.
00:27:12.000 They said, Charlie, a $200 million project in San Francisco just went belly up.
00:27:17.000 It was supposed to be condominiums and apartments.
00:27:19.000 They couldn't make it work, and they had to close on the note.
00:27:22.000 One of the largest condo development foreclosures that we have seen in nearly a decade.
00:27:27.000 The Silicon Valley Bank, this is so interesting.
00:27:31.000 We got to tweet this out.
00:27:32.000 Our values guide us at Silicon Valley Bank.
00:27:35.000 We embrace diverse perspectives.
00:27:37.000 We start with empathy for others.
00:27:39.000 We speak and act with integrity.
00:27:40.000 Obviously, you don't, Greg Becker, president and CEO of Silicon Valley Bank.
00:27:45.000 Again, I don't want to be cruel.
00:27:47.000 I don't want to delight in somebody's economic misfortune.
00:27:51.000 But when you have ridiculous statements like this, Silicon Valley Bank is creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive and accessible environment within Silicon Valley Bank and the innovation ecosystem.
00:28:04.000 In the broader innovation economy, we're focused on breaking down systemic barriers to entry and success, investing in opportunities that ensure more founders and investors with a range of experiences, ideas are represented in our ecosystem.
00:28:18.000 I want to ask a very simple question the media will ignore.
00:28:22.000 Did Silicon Valley Bank prioritize diversity over competency when building a business and issuing out loans?
00:28:30.000 Did Silicon Valley Bank get more distracted about the mirage and the hologram of diversity, equity, inclusion rather than running a business?
00:28:40.000 Is this the first modern era woke bank collapse?
00:28:44.000 The very same thing that we have been warning about, that you cannot run businesses in a capitalistic free market society when you prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion.
00:28:55.000 And by the way, if you go through this page after page after page after page, they brag at Silicon Valley Bank, 100% of their employees participated in DEI education.
00:29:06.000 Well, guess what, Silicon Valley Bank?
00:29:08.000 Now 100% of your employees don't have a job.
00:29:10.000 Well, I'm glad they all have diversity, equity, inclusion training.
00:29:13.000 Now they're unemployed.
00:29:15.000 They have a 5% increase in black representation.
00:29:18.000 They have a 43% increase in women, 66% increase in Hispanic and Latinx, and DEI in action.
00:29:25.000 This is a massive document talking about how good of a person they are.
00:29:30.000 Oh, they said that they invest with $11.2 billion in lower income neighborhoods and try to raise up black voices.
00:29:36.000 Yeah, maybe you should have run an ethical company that's actually solvent.
00:29:40.000 Wokeism will be the collapse of our modern, wealthy civil society.
00:29:45.000 I guarantee you that played a role in the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank.
00:29:51.000 Looks like the New York District Attorney is going to try to indict Donald Trump.
00:29:58.000 Maggie Haberman has a summary of this from the New York Times, Play Cut 113.
00:30:02.000 So we don't, we're entering uncharted territory here.
00:30:05.000 I mean, I think it's important to note about this case.
00:30:07.000 As Kara said, this is a misdemeanor that they're trying to push up to a felony.
00:30:11.000 It's a really kind of exotic case.
00:30:15.000 And a judge could decide, no, we're going to knock it back to a misdemeanor.
00:30:19.000 That is difficult for a prosecutor when it's a former president.
00:30:22.000 I understand, you know, justice is supposed to be equal for all, but people take into consideration factors like this.
00:30:30.000 Take it all together, it requires 12 people, and it just takes one person to have reasonable doubt.
00:30:36.000 And even in pretty, you know, progressive Manhattan, I think probably a defense lawyer could find one person, and that's a risk here.
00:30:44.000 Exotic?
00:30:45.000 What is this?
00:30:45.000 A sports car?
00:30:48.000 Oh, it's really exotic.
00:30:50.000 This whole thing is so, so beyond the constitutional purview.
00:30:56.000 New York City is a mess, and you have the New York Attorney General and DA that are going to try to indict Donald Trump on this.
00:31:03.000 It's very clear what's happening.
00:31:05.000 So according to four different people who spoke to the New York Times, prosecutors in Manhattan recently invited Trump to testify before a grand jury.
00:31:13.000 According to their legal analysis, this is a sign that prosecutors are very close to bringing charges against Trump because in New York, all potential defendants have the right to testify before a grand jury before an indictment.
00:31:25.000 This offer is usually declined.
00:31:27.000 Interestingly, though, the Times doesn't seem to know what the charges are.
00:31:30.000 They'll just make them up.
00:31:32.000 But the Manhattan DA inquiry has centered on Trump's alleged hush money payment to Stormy Daniels.
00:31:37.000 Of course, we're waiting on Fulton County charges as well.
00:31:40.000 Now, mind you, here you have the New York Attorney General that's worried about some hush money payment that Donald Trump allegedly did.
00:31:48.000 And Hunter Biden is allowed to sell out our country to China for tens of millions of dollars.
00:31:55.000 We won't know until the actual charges materialize, but we can guess the gist here.
00:31:59.000 These investigations have been politically charged and motivated from the beginning.
00:32:04.000 And the charges are going to be politically motivated as well.
00:32:07.000 And you could tell because the left is bringing charges at all, because literally everywhere else in American life, their drive is to charge less, prosecute less, and convict less.
00:32:15.000 For example, in Maryland, the Hyper Democrat state legislature is considering a bill that will eliminate the charge of felony murder for anybody under 25.
00:32:22.000 Get rid of felony murder under 25.
00:32:24.000 You're 19, you kill somebody, doesn't matter.
00:32:26.000 Felony murder will not be an option.
00:32:28.000 So if you deliberately burn down a building and someone else dies, that's murder, even if you weren't specifically trying to kill that person because you killed a person in the commission of a crime.
00:32:38.000 They're going after Donald Trump for a variety of reasons, but I am curious.
00:32:42.000 I'm curious what you think of this.
00:32:44.000 If Donald Trump is indicted, does that make you more or less likely to vote for him?
00:32:53.000 If Donald Trump is indicted by the New York district attorney, does that change your opinion?
00:33:01.000 The New York Times said in this case, the second crime, well, first of all, let me read the whole thing.
00:33:05.000 If Mr. Trump is indicted, this is from the New York Times.
00:33:07.000 Convicting him or sending him to prison will be challenging.
00:33:10.000 The case against the former president hinges on an untested and therefore risky legal theory involving a complex interplay of laws, all accounting to a low-level felony.
00:33:19.000 Mr. Trump were ultimately convicted.
00:33:21.000 He would face a maximum sentence of four years, though prison time would not be mandatory.
00:33:24.000 It's not about putting him in jail.
00:33:25.000 They would like that.
00:33:26.000 It's about preventing him from being on the ballot in 2024.
00:33:30.000 In some states, if you are a felon, you're not allowed to be on the ballot.
00:33:34.000 In some states, if you're a felon, if you're a convicted felon, you're not allowed to run for a federal office.
00:33:39.000 We'll find out what states they are.
00:33:40.000 I bet Georgia is one of them.
00:33:42.000 I'm just speculating.
00:33:44.000 Mr. Trump's lawyers are sure to attack Mr. Cohen, who in 2018 pleaded guilty to federal charges related to hush money.
00:33:49.000 In New York, falsifying business records can amount to a crime.
00:33:53.000 To elevate the crime to a felony charge, Mr. Bragg's prosecutors must show that Mr. Trump had intent to defraud, including an intent to commit or conceal a second crime.
00:34:01.000 In this case, the second crime could be a violation of New York's state election law.
00:34:06.000 While hush money is not inherently illegal, the prosecutors could argue that $130,000 payout effectively became an improper donation of Mr. Trump's campaign under the theory that because the money silenced Ms. Daniels, it benefited his candidacy.
00:34:19.000 This whole thing is such a ridiculous waste of time, twisting themselves into legal pretzels.
00:34:24.000 Meanwhile, crime is up, rape is up, murder is up, carjackings are up, arson is up, and what is your law enforcement focused on?
00:34:32.000 Getting Donald Trump.
00:34:34.000 Real criminals are terrorizing the streets of New York City, and they're focused on something Donald Trump maybe did six or seven or eight years ago in some sort of strange, in their own words, exotic legal theory.
00:34:50.000 Thanks so much for listening, everybody.
00:34:52.000 Email us your thoughts as always, freedom at charliekirk.com.
00:34:55.000 Thanks so much for listening.
