00:01:40.000 Glad to be with you, buddy.
00:01:41.000 Yeah, thank you.
00:01:41.000 Trinity Church and also the author of a very important book, New Days Old Demons, one of the best, most important Bible teachers in the country and the world, actually, Mark Driscoll.
00:01:50.000 Mark, welcome to the program, man.
00:01:51.000 Honored to be with you, my friends.
00:01:52.000 Good to see you.
00:01:52.000 Yeah, you have a huge following here in Phoenix and across the country.
00:01:55.000 And I think you have such an amazing gift from the Lord to teach the word and to honestly tell the truth in this era of lies.
00:02:04.000 Well, I've been teaching the Bible for about 30 years, pretty much verse by verse, week by week.
00:02:10.000 And what I always say is the Bible is not a book that just tells us what happened, but what always happens.
00:02:18.000 And we tend to think of it as an old book.
00:02:20.000 It's not.
00:02:20.000 It's an eternal book.
00:02:21.000 And so it's always timely because it's over all the times.
00:02:25.000 And so for me, if you can't connect what's going on in the culture with what's said in the scripture, people have no idea how to interpret everything that they're going through.
00:02:34.000 So why'd you write the book?
00:02:36.000 I was preaching through 1 and 2 Kings, book in the Old Testament, and realized that the same things that they were dealing with in the ancient nation of Israel about 3,000 years ago are exactly the same cultural, political issues we're dealing with today.
00:02:50.000 So it got me asking, if you see the same issues happening in different cultures and different nations and different governments with different people, what's the causation?
00:03:00.000 And it's spiritual, that people come and go, but the demons remain the same.
00:03:04.000 And what we're dealing with is truly demonic.
00:03:07.000 The progressive agenda, wokeism, kind of soft beta-mail, woke Christianity is all demonic and it's ancient paganism.
00:03:15.000 And it's the same thing that happened in the days of Elijah.
00:03:18.000 So let's go through some of the characters, Ahab, Jezebel, Elijah.
00:03:21.000 For the uninitiated audience, who are these people and why does it matter?
00:03:25.000 So 3,000 years ago in the nation of Israel, they were supposed to be like us, a nation founded under God, and they weren't.
00:03:31.000 So Ahab was the king.
00:03:33.000 He was passive, permissive, tolerant, progressive.
00:03:38.000 He was weak, and he was not a man who liked to make decisions or have conflict.
00:03:43.000 And he was fairly incoherent and incompetent.
00:03:46.000 Sounds like most of the church.
00:03:48.000 Well, we couldn't imagine a senior political leader like that.
00:03:51.000 His wife, Jezebel, the queen, she was controlling, domineering, overbearing, very sexual, and slept her way to the top.
00:04:00.000 Like Kamala Harris.
00:04:01.000 Well, you said it, and I didn't disagree with it.
00:04:04.000 And so what you have, anytime you have a passive leader and a controlling, domineering, overbearing partner, the point is this, if you tolerate, they will dominate.
00:04:14.000 That's so good.
00:04:15.000 And so the entire pride movement, the entire trans agenda, the entire LGBTQIA alphabet soup people agenda is tolerate.
00:04:24.000 And Jesus talks about a thousand years later about Jezebel.
00:04:28.000 Jezebel was not just an ancient queen, but a spirit.
00:04:31.000 And he says, you tolerate that woman, Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess.
00:04:35.000 She's a highly religious, highly seductive, highly spiritual leader.
00:04:39.000 She teaches false doctrine and she leads people into sexual immorality.
00:04:44.000 And so from Jezebel to the book of Revelation, the Lord Jesus, there's a thousand-year gap because the demons are the same, even though the people change.
00:04:53.000 And so what we're dealing with today in the church is Ahab and Jezebel.
00:04:57.000 In Christianity, most denominations are led by Ahab.
00:05:01.000 The government is led by Ahab.
00:05:03.000 The southern border is open because of Ahabianism.
00:05:06.000 It's a passivity and a tolerance.
00:05:09.000 And anytime you tolerate, they dominate.
00:05:11.000 If you tolerate like Ahab, then the Jezebel spirit comes in, dominates, takes over, controls, seduces, sexualizes.
00:05:19.000 And in their days, that included child sacrifice, which was the precursor to government-sponsored abortion to the Canaanite god Molech.
00:05:27.000 It also included genital mutilation, transgenderism.
00:05:31.000 And in the days of Ahab and Jezebel, they were dealing with drag queens overtaking.
00:05:36.000 And so what you had then, the Jezebel spirit takes over the government, closes the churches, as we saw globally during COVID, took over the Christian schools, took over the economy, canceled, deplatformed, and killed anyone who disagreed.
00:05:49.000 And this is an entire demonic agenda to replace God with government.
00:05:53.000 That's what's going on in the days of Elijah.
00:05:56.000 I mean, that's remarkably deep.
00:05:59.000 I haven't really heard a lot of people connect those dots.
00:06:01.000 Is it just because they don't read the Old Testament, or is it just kind of not parallel to their theology?
00:06:08.000 I mean, that's so clear what you just articulated.
00:06:10.000 Well, I think oftentimes people just don't read the Bible.
00:06:14.000 They just don't.
00:06:14.000 And they know, you know, every pothead knows one verse, God made every seed-bearing plant, and the liberals know one verse, thou shalt not judge.
00:06:22.000 That's about as far as they get.
00:06:24.000 Now, if you dig deep into the Bible, you'll find, as Jordan Peterson has recently, it's the most amazing, fascinating, incredible book that's ever written.
00:06:33.000 The profundity is beyond.
00:06:35.000 Well, because when you read the Bible, it's the only book that as you study it, it studies you.
00:06:40.000 And when you meet with it, the author meets with you to help you learn it.
00:06:43.000 And so it's a supernatural experience when you actually take the word of God seriously.
00:06:48.000 And so diving into this, so let's go to the events that led to 1 Kings, right?
00:06:55.000 So nation of Israel delivered out of Egypt, right?
00:06:59.000 God delivers.
00:07:00.000 They get into Canaan, you know, end of in the wilderness, book of Numbers.
00:07:03.000 Moses gives his Gabbai address in Deuteronomy.
00:07:06.000 You know, Joshua generation enters into Canaan, right?
00:07:09.000 First new generation, all the old one died off.
00:07:11.000 Then they enter into a place with no standing army, really no police force, where the law was the center.
00:07:18.000 And then at some point, I think either in Samuel or whatever, they say, God, give us a king, right?
00:07:21.000 We want a king like the other nations.
00:07:26.000 I'm doing the best I can.
00:07:27.000 So yes, what happens is you get King Solomon, and King Solomon is told by God, here's what you do and you don't do.
00:07:35.000 Well, the dude does everything he's not supposed to do.
00:07:37.000 He gets like, you know, 95 wives and concubines.
00:07:41.000 Like a thousand.
00:07:42.000 I mean, he's, I mean, Hugh Hefner's like, that dude's next level, you know?
00:07:45.000 And so he starts worshiping foreign gods.
00:07:48.000 Starts opening pagan temples and sacrifices, including child sacrifice.
00:07:54.000 And so, and so ultimately, what that leads to is five generations of this evil, demonic family, and you see this slow decline in government.
00:08:03.000 Every generation is a little worse.
00:08:05.000 And this is the progressive lie.
00:08:07.000 This is the powerful, delusional myth of the progressive lie, and that is that we're good and getting better.
00:08:12.000 I love it.
00:08:13.000 I totally agree with you.
00:08:14.000 And the story of the Bible is we're bad and getting worse.
00:08:17.000 And so, what you see in 1 Kings 16 is five generations, one to the next, of this corrupt political family.
00:08:25.000 And the truth is, America has been largely dominated by a handful of corrupt political families for generations.
00:08:31.000 And then, what happens is it gets to the point where it is so dark, it is so despicable, that literally the government is against God because the conflict is always between God and government.
00:08:42.000 God says, I have all authority, and government says we want to remove God and replace God, and we want to be the highest authority.
00:08:50.000 We don't need Jesus to come back.
00:08:51.000 We can set up heaven on earth through policy and taxation.
00:08:55.000 And then the government tries to, in the days of Elijah, is our day, take over education, take over entertainment, take over the economy, take over the church.
00:09:04.000 And so, then what happens is it gets so dark, so damnable, so despicable, and God's people are so squeezed and they're so hopeless that God sends Elijah.
00:09:15.000 And the guy's a mountain man.
00:09:17.000 I mean, if you watch the television show alone, he would be the annual winner.
00:09:20.000 He's just a lifestyle guy, and he wears a camel's, he wears what he kills, he eats what he kills.
00:09:26.000 He doesn't John the Baptist was similar.
00:09:28.000 There was someone who was a kid.
00:09:29.000 He came in the spirit and power of Elijah.
00:09:32.000 Yeah, that's right.
00:09:32.000 Elijah's the guy, like if Rip got saved from Yellowstone and one alone, his name would be Elijah.
00:09:39.000 He's that dude.
00:09:40.000 And so, what I love about it is usually when you think of Christianity, you think of like the that soft beta male, gender-confused, skinny jeans, you know, feathered hair with frosted tips, you know, bad voice.
00:09:53.000 Like Judas Smith, Levi Lusko, people like that.
00:09:56.000 Well, you know, I don't name names.
00:09:59.000 But what happens then is you get a guy like Elijah, and you're like, this dude doesn't bring a weapon.
00:10:05.000 He is a weapon.
00:10:06.000 He's a man's man.
00:10:08.000 He's a dude of dudes.
00:10:09.000 I love that.
00:10:10.000 He's an outlaw.
00:10:11.000 He's a cowboy.
00:10:12.000 He doesn't fit the mold and he doesn't come out of the establishment.
00:10:15.000 He comes out of the woods.
00:10:16.000 And that's what we really need right now.
00:10:18.000 Everybody who's coming out of Bible college, seminary, everybody who's coming out of some sort of established political party is just a neutered, compromised beta male, and we need more Elijahs.
00:10:29.000 Yeah, it's a bunch of cowardly eunuchs calling themselves pastors.
00:10:36.000 Hey, everybody, Charlie Kirk here.
00:10:37.000 We are saving babies with pre-born by providing free ultrasounds.
00:10:40.000 When you introduce a girl to her baby by providing an ultrasound, you're giving her the truth at the most important time in her life.
00:10:46.000 And more than 85% of the time, when she sees the baby and hears the baby's heartbeat, she will choose life.
00:10:51.000 The voices that call themselves pro-choice are loud and proud, and they are everywhere.
00:10:56.000 It might feel like an uphill battle, but there is no better fight to fight than with the truth of an ultrasound.
00:11:00.000 $140 gives five mothers a free ultrasound and saves babies.
00:11:03.000 $280 can save 10 babies.
00:11:06.000 For just $28 a month, you can save a baby a month for less than a dollar a day.
00:11:10.000 And $15,000 gift will provide an ultrasound machine that will save lives for years to come.
00:11:14.000 Whether you want to save one baby or five or hundreds, that opportunity is just a phone call or click away.
00:11:19.000 I'm a donor to pre-born, and you should be too.
00:11:21.000 Call 833-850-BABY.
00:11:24.000 That is 833-850-2229.
00:11:26.000 Or go to preborn.org/slash Kirk.
00:11:29.000 If you want to save one baby or five or hundreds, the opportunity is just right there.
00:11:33.000 Go to preborn.org/slash Kirk.
00:11:39.000 Mark, we are talking about pastors who have become like charismatic eunuchs.
00:11:45.000 Well, so Ahab is the king in Israel, and he's passive, tolerant.
00:11:49.000 He doesn't do conflict.
00:11:50.000 He doesn't make hard decisions.
00:11:52.000 And as a result, if you are like Ahab, then you're going to get Jezebel.
00:11:56.000 Jezebel comes in, is domineering, overbearing, highly controlling, and very, very sexual.
00:12:02.000 And what you see, wherever the Jezebel spirit is at work.
00:12:05.000 So the two primary deities in their day, the false gods, were Baal, the male god, and Astra, the female god.
00:12:12.000 And so what you see is these two demonic spirits working through these two political leaders.
00:12:17.000 And so at the end of the day, the way it works itself out is the Jezebel spirit castrates males, literally castrates males, emotionally, spiritually, but also physically.
00:12:28.000 So Jezebel, all of the ancient artwork about her, highly pornographic, highly seductive.
00:12:34.000 You're talking about gender bending and all kinds of sickness.
00:12:38.000 When they go to arrest her, a guy named Jehu in 2 Kings 9, it says that she painted her face so that she could try and seduce him.
00:12:45.000 Her way is to sleep her way out of all of her problems.
00:12:48.000 And that she was, quote, surrounded by her eunuchs.
00:12:51.000 So to literally, the job description to go work for Jezebel is, you've got to cut your junk off.
00:12:56.000 That's part of the rule.
00:12:58.000 Same thing happened with Daniel.
00:12:59.000 He was a eunuch in the kingdom of Babylon under the spirit of Babel.
00:13:02.000 And so literally, to worship the Jezebelian spirit and to serve it, you have to be a man who's willing to undergo genital mutilation.
00:13:11.000 So I started looking at this, and I found in the, there's the, University of Chicago's got an academic journal called the History of Religions.
00:13:19.000 And they trace that everywhere there has been a dominant feminine female deity and spirituality in the history of the world, all religions, all cultures, all times and places, the men who are serving her have to castrate themselves and become transgender.
00:13:36.000 And then they started looking at it, and they asked this interesting question.
00:13:40.000 They're asking, if we're seeing all the men castrate themselves in every generation in different religions and places, but these people never intersected, how did it leap from one place to another?
00:13:51.000 New days, old demons.
00:13:53.000 People come and go, but the spirits remain the same.
00:13:55.000 So then I jumped into it.
00:13:57.000 And Augustine, the church father, said that in his day, the greatest threat to the spread of Christianity in the early Roman Empire were these Cybelean priests who were male drag queens who castrated themselves, painted their faces, wore women's clothes, went out in public.
00:14:17.000 He said their necks were so limp they could barely keep their head up, and they did story hours for children in the fourth century.
00:14:26.000 So everything you're seeing on the progressive left is nothing but regressive paganism.
00:14:32.000 And everything you're seeing with the gender spectrum is literally demonic because God made us male and female.
00:14:40.000 And then Satan wants us to be remade as something other than male and female.
00:14:45.000 And so I'm just telling you what they dealt with in the days of Daniel, the castration of healthy young men, the castration of men in the days of Jezebel continued through the early church in the days of Augustine, continues to our day.
00:15:00.000 This is demonic and it is satanic.
00:15:02.000 And what you get in denominations, not to interrupt you, you get these Ahab passive, weak, woke, cowardly pastors that will tell you what they're for, but not what they're against, and they're not up for the fight.
00:15:15.000 And it is the masculine role to say no.
00:15:19.000 That's Elijah.
00:15:20.000 Elijah is the man of man's dude of dudes.
00:15:23.000 He hunts fishes and loves every minute of it and lives in the woods.
00:15:26.000 A little more Esau than Jacob.
00:15:28.000 And he shows up and he just rebukes them.
00:15:30.000 He calls down fire from heaven and then he slaughters over 400 of their false prophets.
00:15:35.000 Imagine a pastor today that had the stones to pick a fight and then slaughter 400 denominational leaders, slit their throats as a public event.
00:15:44.000 That's Elijah.
00:15:46.000 Stay peaceful.
00:15:48.000 The book is New Days Old Demons.
00:15:51.000 What motivates your typical woke pastor?
00:15:53.000 I'm talking about the skinny gene type, the people that never actually teach the word.
00:15:56.000 You know, we mentioned some of the names.
00:15:59.000 What drives them into the ministry?
00:16:01.000 Some are cowards and they took the job because it's indoor, doesn't require any heavy lifting.
00:16:06.000 Some guys were over-mothered and underfathered, and so they, you know, they feel at home in the church like they did in their mom's house.
00:16:14.000 Some guys, they have church hurt and they're bitter and they're deconstructionist and they need to just get over their hurt and grow up and be a grown man.
00:16:22.000 For some of them, they're just poorly read and they've spent more money on their wardrobe than they have their library.
00:16:28.000 As we say often, too many churches have become TED Talks with a rock concert, skinny jeans, and look at my new shoes.
00:16:36.000 It's what passes American Christianity.
00:16:37.000 But check out the coffee bar, everybody, but I'm not going to tell you about sin.
00:16:40.000 Check out Trinity Church, though.
00:16:42.000 You will hear about sin, but most importantly, redemption.
00:16:48.000 Right now, our world is changing in many uncomfortable ways.
00:16:50.000 It's not just natural disasters, political and economic disasters.
00:16:54.000 The bottom line is you must be prepared for anything to happen at a moment's notice.
00:16:58.000 You won't get a warning.
00:16:59.000 This is not a movie.

00:17:44.000 I just have to read this description.
00:17:46.000 The book is New Days Old Demons by Mark Driscoll, who's a legend.
00:17:49.000 Study of Elijah, sex, gender, ancient paganism masquerading as progressive Christianity, victims of nothing, woke politics, the transgender Jezebel spirit that castrates men, and the passive Ahab Soft, woke Christian beta male spirit, leading the conga line.
00:18:03.000 What is this, Tashiol?
00:18:04.000 Tashiol.
00:18:04.000 Yeah, that's the grave.
00:18:06.000 Thank you.
00:18:07.000 Carrying a rainbow flag.
00:18:08.000 Again, Mark, you got to get to the point, okay?
00:18:10.000 Enough of this vanilla watering down stuff.
00:18:13.000 Yeah, I mean, to me, if you're going to go...
00:18:15.000 Give you a hard time.
00:18:16.000 Go big.
00:18:17.000 And if you're going to get canceled, you know, make it fun.
00:18:20.000 Yeah.
00:18:21.000 So let me ask you some questions I have.
00:18:23.000 I know our audience has, just about some confusion.
00:18:25.000 And I've had an opportunity to speak at over 120 churches across the country, and there's a lot of agreement on the demonic and Satan, but I hear different things.
00:18:32.000 And when I ask questions, I'm actually told different things.
00:18:35.000 What does the Bible tell us about Satan?
00:18:37.000 Is it true that Satan and or Lucifer rebelled as an angel of God?
00:18:42.000 Is that an inference?
00:18:43.000 Is that a folktale?
00:18:44.000 Is that tradition?
00:18:46.000 Let's just start with that.
00:18:47.000 Who is Satan and how much power does he have?
00:18:49.000 Yeah, if you go to realfaith.com, all my Bible teaches.
00:18:51.000 Yeah, and if you go to realfaith.com, all my Bible teaching is free.
00:18:54.000 You get what you pay for, lower your expectations, but it's all there.
00:18:58.000 And there's a book I wrote with my wife in a series I did called Win Your War, and it's all on Satan and the demonic, and it's all free.
00:19:04.000 But anyways, there's one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and then there are two realms that form one reality.
00:19:11.000 There is the unseen realm of the spirit, and then there's the physical realm that we inhabit.
00:19:17.000 And what's interesting is the entire progressive woke world downplays or denies the spiritual altogether.
00:19:23.000 So like the DSM, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders on How to Help People Who Are Struggling, mentions the soul zero times.
00:19:33.000 There is no acknowledgement that you have a soul.
00:19:36.000 We are one person in two parts.
00:19:38.000 We have a physical body and a spiritual soul.
00:19:41.000 Our physical body was built for this world.
00:19:43.000 Our soul was built to connect with God in that world.
00:19:47.000 And so, in that way, what we experience as human beings correlates with the reality that God made.
00:19:53.000 So, there's one God, and as there are beings that inhabit our physical world, men and women, there are beings that inhabit the spiritual world, angels and demons, all started as angels.
00:20:04.000 Angels are messengers and ministers, servants of God.
00:20:07.000 Every angel is messenger.
00:20:08.000 And in Hebrew, it literally means messenger.
00:20:10.000 Messenger and minister.
00:20:12.000 Now, it says in Revelation that there was a war in heaven, Revelation 12.
00:20:16.000 That Satan decided that he would try and overthrow, usurp God.
00:20:16.000 Yeah.
00:20:23.000 And so, everything that God creates, Satan counterfeits.
00:20:26.000 Everything that God builds, Satan breaks.
00:20:28.000 Everything that God has, Satan tries to steal.
00:20:31.000 And so, what happens is there's a war in heaven.
00:20:33.000 It says that Michael and the angels won the war, Revelation 12.
00:20:37.000 Satan and the demons were cast down.
00:20:39.000 Jesus said it was a third of the heavenly hosts.
00:20:41.000 So a third of the angels now became dark.
00:20:45.000 They're still divine beings.
00:20:46.000 They're still supernatural.
00:20:48.000 They're under God.
00:20:49.000 They're not equal to God.
00:20:50.000 They don't share his attributes.
00:20:52.000 They immediately take the war to Adam and Eve, and they're trying to rule on earth because they lost their war in heaven.
00:20:59.000 They won their war on earth and then they took over humanity.
00:21:03.000 So now the Bible says that Satan is the God of this world.
00:21:06.000 That's Paul.
00:21:07.000 Yeah, that he rules and reigns.
00:21:10.000 And so Satan can't be everywhere and doesn't know all things.
00:21:12.000 He doesn't share God's attributes.
00:21:14.000 But it's like a military with a commander in chief.
00:21:17.000 And the Bible uses military language like archangels, which is a military term, to refer to the demonic realm like soldiers.
00:21:25.000 And then Paul says, our war is not against flesh and blood, but powers, principalities, and spirits.
00:21:30.000 So what we're up against is not just a physical war, but there's a war behind that war that's a spiritual war.
00:21:37.000 That's super helpful.
00:21:38.000 The best, honestly, summary that I've heard.
00:21:41.000 So is it fair to say God created everything, Genesis 1:1, including all the angels?
00:21:45.000 Yep.
00:21:46.000 Is it too far of a reach to say God then gave the angels agency?
00:21:51.000 They've always had agency because love requires agency.
00:21:55.000 If you take away free will, you take away love because love is a choice.
00:21:59.000 Yes.
00:22:00.000 And so my wife Grace and I have been faithfully married 30 years.
00:22:04.000 And it's not because every day she puts a gun to my head, but because I choose to love her.
00:22:08.000 And so you can get obedience without love and agency, but you can't get love without agency.
00:22:14.000 And so God allows choice and freedom and will so that there can be love and genuine relationships.
00:22:21.000 And so what we're seeing, you know, right now in our world, it's spiritual.
00:22:26.000 There are physical realities, but they're caused by spiritual entities.
00:22:31.000 I mean, how else do you explain like human trafficking and drug cartels and open border and mutilation of children in the name of care and state seizing custody of children with mental health disorders like gender dysphoria?
00:22:44.000 How do you have, you know, our world exist where everything that is dark is called light and everything that is wrong is called right.
00:22:52.000 It's demonic.
00:22:54.000 There is an agenda that's at work to destroy everyone and everything that God made.
00:23:00.000 And so what we're living through, and this gets to your book, New Days, Old Demons, is that there are certain demons or spirits, as you say, spirit of Jezebel, or it could be remanifested in the spirit of Aphrodite, right?
00:23:14.000 Yep.
00:23:15.000 That have temporary dominion over this world, whether it be the Aztecs or the Mayans.
00:23:22.000 Every culture.
00:23:23.000 That they remanifest themselves in predictable ways.
00:23:28.000 Yeah, the patterns are the same.
00:23:30.000 And so, I mean, there was recently a study that came out, I think it was this week, that seven in 10 Americans, I think it was according to Gallup, believe in angels.
00:23:37.000 Seven in 10 Americans.
00:23:39.000 And so there is a curiosity about the supernatural and the spiritual.
00:23:43.000 Now, just like you wouldn't trust every human being, you can't trust every divine being.
00:23:48.000 And so, discernment is getting to know, like, is that a good person or a bad person?
00:23:52.000 Is that a good spirit or a bad spirit?
00:23:54.000 So, the Bible says, don't believe every spirit, but test the spirits.
00:23:57.000 So, what we have is people who believe in angels, but they don't understand demons.
00:24:02.000 And so, what they could be doing is living a spiritual life.
00:24:05.000 We don't want to live a spiritual life.
00:24:06.000 We want to live a spirit-filled life.
00:24:08.000 We don't want unholy spirits.
00:24:09.000 We only want the Holy Spirit.
00:24:11.000 And I think there's a lot of confusion.
00:24:12.000 I think that's what's driving general vague spirituality, deconstructionism, progressive Christianity, the woke joke folk, the BLM Christians, and the rainbow flag pastors who've come out of Satan's closet.
00:24:24.000 I think it's all the same demonic forces.
00:24:26.000 You've been doing this for 20, 30 years?
00:24:28.000 30 years.
00:24:29.000 30 years.
00:24:30.000 And it's worse than ever in the Christian space, correct?
00:24:33.000 Well, what has happened is it used to be.
00:24:35.000 So you know this, the transition.
00:24:37.000 What is being taught at the university today will be normative in the culture tomorrow.
00:24:42.000 That's our hypothesis of my life's work.
00:24:44.000 So upstream is the university, and downstream is the culture.
00:24:47.000 So I got saved in college.
00:24:48.000 I did college ministry forever.
00:24:51.000 I taught the Bible basically near the chop zone in the People's Republic of Seattle for about 20 years, which every day was like a double date with Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump.
00:24:59.000 I mean, it was always very interesting.
00:25:02.000 10,000 people got baptized.
00:25:03.000 I got canceled.
00:25:04.000 Our producer was one of them, Andrew.
00:25:06.000 Yeah.
00:25:06.000 Really?
00:25:06.000 Okay.
00:25:07.000 And so then what happens is if you've been in a university in a bright blue dot city, you are looking at the future.
00:25:15.000 Because those people...
00:25:16.000 Oh, that's so true.
00:25:17.000 Because those people will go upstream and make culture.
00:25:20.000 They'll become your politicians, your media personnel, your lawyers, your judges.
00:25:24.000 And so for me, I have lived in this reality for decades, and now it's just found its way to places like Alabama.
00:25:31.000 Oh, that's really true.
00:25:32.000 Because I come from the future.
00:25:34.000 And profit literally means to see forward, right?
00:25:37.000 To like to be able to see what is coming next.
00:25:40.000 And when you spend time at universities, you could see what is coming.
00:25:44.000 But in Christianity in particular, the seminaries, the capture of institutions that were otherwise biblical or theological becoming woke.
00:25:54.000 Did you see that coming?
00:25:56.000 Absolutely.
00:25:57.000 Because the trend is, it's like gravity.
00:26:00.000 Gravity never pushes things up.
00:26:01.000 It only pulls things down.
00:26:03.000 If you believe that we live in a sinful, fallen, and cursed world, the force of gravity is down.
00:26:08.000 So if you want things to regress, you don't need to do anything.
00:26:12.000 If you want progress, you got to work.
00:26:14.000 So every institution veers left.
00:26:17.000 Some go fast, some go slow, but all go left and all go down.
00:26:22.000 And that's an interesting segue to something I want to talk about, which is you say, as it was in either the days of Daniel or Elijah, sometimes we'll have people on the program that say, we're living to the days of Noah.
00:26:33.000 And that's an interesting comparison because Christ our Lord say, I'm paraphrasing, the days of Noah will show us when the end times are here.
00:26:42.000 I take no strong opinions on eschatology.
00:26:44.000 I do believe in what the Bible says Jesus will return.
00:26:46.000 There will be an end.
00:26:47.000 He will sit on his throne.
00:26:49.000 But Mark, can you just comment, do you think we are in the end times or do you think it's a little bit tricky to say declaratively we are in the end times?
00:26:59.000 So Jesus uses this language of birth pains.
00:27:02.000 And birth pains, so right now, literally, my daughter-in-law is having birth pains.
00:27:07.000 My first grandchild, a grandson, will be born any minute.
00:27:11.000 So if I run out of here, that's where I'm going.
00:27:13.000 And so what she's experiencing right now is birth pains, contractions, dilation.
00:27:18.000 Congratulations.
00:27:19.000 Yeah.
00:27:19.000 And what Jesus says is that just like people are born again, history will be born again.
00:27:26.000 Yes.
00:27:27.000 And that it's like birth pains.
00:27:28.000 The closer you get to the birth, the more intensity, the more frequently and the contractions.
00:27:34.000 And the tremors increase societally.
00:27:35.000 Yeah, sure.
00:27:36.000 That's right.
00:27:36.000 Out of the greatest pain comes new life.
00:27:40.000 And so if you believe in Jesus' analogy, the closer we get to the end, the same things will be happening with more intensity and frequency.
00:27:47.000 More apostasy, more lies.
00:27:49.000 Romans 1 could be.
00:27:50.000 More murder, more sexuality.
00:27:52.000 Reprobate mind.
00:27:54.000 Yeah, more calling darkness light and light, darkness, and all of that.
00:27:58.000 And so every generation is thinking we must be at the end because this is the worst it's ever been.
00:28:03.000 Well, it's the worst it's ever been for us.
00:28:06.000 And it may get worse and it may not.
00:28:08.000 Yes.
00:28:08.000 But I think if we look at it right now, you'd have to say that at some point, human life on the earth is going to either come to an end or it's going to be delivered from itself.
00:28:18.000 And this is the story of every major Hollywood movie.
00:28:22.000 The earth is in peril.
00:28:23.000 Some half man, half woman, half God deity comes from another realm with supernatural powers and rescues us.
00:28:31.000 Everything that's DC and Marvel is ripping off the storyline of the Bible and Jesus Christ.
00:28:37.000 Yeah, and because it's true and it's a story that resonates with our, you know, as you say, in an invisible level.
00:28:43.000 And so, but do you think that it, what is the downside, let me put it this way, of overemphasizing that we're in the escatant?
00:28:49.000 Well, you can become fearful.
00:28:51.000 And God says in the Bible, he has not given us a spirit of fear.
00:28:54.000 Get that up a sound mind.
00:28:55.000 So we live by faith, not by fear.
00:28:56.000 And the spirit of fear is literally a demonic spirit of fear.
00:28:59.000 And once you take upon fear, it drives all of your decision making.
00:29:03.000 And what happened a few years ago with COVID, a spirit of fear ran planet Earth for quite a while.
00:29:09.000 Yes.
00:29:09.000 Closed schools, closed churches, caused perfectly sane people to do perfectly insane things, caused people who are at next to zero risk to shut down their life, to sit at home, a whole generation of men to exit the workforce, not get married.
00:29:24.000 You've got dramatic, traumatic mental health.
00:29:27.000 Even the CDC says that young women are suicidal and cratering.
00:29:32.000 Welcome to a spirit of fear.
00:29:34.000 And so what I don't want to do is look into the future with fear.
00:29:36.000 I want to look into the future with faith.
00:29:38.000 And I want to say if it's getting worse, I shouldn't be scared.
00:29:41.000 I should be glad because it means that Jesus is getting near.
00:29:44.000 Yeah, and that's, you know, some people say, because some objections to my life's work, which is to, you know, try to save Western civilization, as futile as that effort might be, is that Charlie's not falling apart, has fallen into place.
00:29:57.000 You're wasting your time.
00:29:58.000 Jesus is coming soon.
00:29:59.000 I'd like to explore that with you because I think it goes down to what is actually motivating our action, right?
00:30:04.000 And I think that's probably the most operative question.
00:30:07.000 Mark Driscoll is here, New Days, Old Demons.
00:30:08.000 What's the website?
00:30:09.000 Realfaith.com, all the Bible teaches.
00:30:11.000 Free of charge, right?
00:30:12.000 Yep.
00:30:12.000 And you said you get what you pay for?
00:30:14.000 You get what you pay for.
00:30:14.000 Well, no, you have an effort, though.
00:30:15.000 If you buy a book, you send one to Levi Lusko, right?
00:30:18.000 If you buy the book, and I do know Levi, so Levi, if you're listening, God bless you.
00:30:22.000 I'll be honest, he's never explained why he marched in a BLM parade.
00:30:25.000 So I'd love for you to.
00:30:25.000 Oh, he did?
00:30:26.000 Well, I'll call him after this and get you an answer.
00:30:29.000 And BLM is just a Ponzi scheme and a fraud.
00:30:32.000 I agree.
00:30:32.000 In the name of social justice, all it did was provide a lot of money for a corrupt handful of lesbians.
00:30:39.000 So if that's justice, I'm out.
00:30:41.000 But anyways, if you buy two copies, if you buy a copy of the book, we'll send a free copy to a woke pastor.
00:30:46.000 And if you want to, let us know, you know, what rainbow flag church you want it sent to, and we'll send it to him.
00:30:53.000 Because I've been triggering aggressive since 96.
00:30:56.000 I'm going to buy a couple dozen and you send it a saddleback for me, okay?
00:31:00.000 That's our deal.

00:32:17.000 The potential downside of overemphasizing that we're in the escaton or the end times, right?
00:32:23.000 Some people say it's a waste of time.
00:32:25.000 Let's just, for example, the house is on fire.
00:32:27.000 Let's get the kids out.
00:32:28.000 Let's run to the hills.
00:32:29.000 Jesus is coming next Thursday.
00:32:31.000 Certainty that we are in the kind of final contractions, right?
00:32:34.000 When in reality, to just like play the analogy, the dilation only might be one, not 10.
00:32:39.000 Yeah.
00:32:40.000 We actually might be a lot more time left on the board than we realize, but the time and the hour is unknown, isn't it?
00:32:45.000 Yeah, so there's a whole two books in the New Testament called 1 2 Thessalonians.
00:32:49.000 I'm going to start Jude this weekend.
00:32:51.000 I'm going to start 1 2 Thessalonians.
00:32:52.000 So they heard Jesus was coming back and they thought it was in like 15 to 17 minutes.
00:32:57.000 So they all quit their jobs and started racking up their credit cards and dudes weren't getting married and they're just kind of sitting out in lawn chairs looking up, you know, waiting for the fireball.
00:33:07.000 And Paul's like, go back to work, get married, live your life.
00:33:11.000 And so that was 2,000 years ago.
00:33:14.000 And so every generation, somebody comes out, you know, with a chart and a graph, and usually it's in crayon on an ammo box and not super official, but they're like, I figured it out.
00:33:23.000 It's like, you probably didn't.
00:33:24.000 And the problem with focusing too much on the end is you miss the immediate.
00:33:30.000 And it's like a couple getting married and thinking about retirement, but they still haven't put in their career.
00:33:35.000 It's like you've got to get there.
00:33:37.000 And so think about it this way.
00:33:39.000 When you were in high school, what did you do the last week of high school before you graduated?
00:33:44.000 Oh, every, I threw, I mean, there was no grades, there was no studying, right?
00:33:48.000 I mean, it was a part party.
00:33:50.000 I mean, if Christians think like Jesus is coming back next week, it's like the last week of high school.
00:33:55.000 That's exactly right.
00:33:56.000 You don't do anything.
00:33:57.000 And so what I would rather do is I would rather go to work every day like he's coming back in a thousand years.
00:34:02.000 And if he comes back and sees me busy, I'm sure I won't get into trouble.
00:34:06.000 What do you want to be caught doing upon his return?
00:34:08.000 Yeah, if he comes back and I'm preaching, he's like, hey, Mark, you're unemployed.
00:34:11.000 I'm like, what a great day, you know?
00:34:13.000 But I just want to do what I'm supposed to do until I'm dead or he returns.
00:34:18.000 Do you think that, and I don't have any strong opinions anyway, do you think that the overemphasis, though, on this has created, let's just say, complacent behavior?
00:34:26.000 It's an escape.
00:34:27.000 Certain churches.
00:34:28.000 It can be.
00:34:28.000 It's not always.
00:34:29.000 But it can be an escapist mentality.
00:34:32.000 And that is that when hard things come, don't worry.
00:34:35.000 You're not going to have to go through it.
00:34:36.000 My experience is God sometimes delivers us from hardship.
00:34:40.000 Sometimes he delivers us through it.
00:34:43.000 And not from it.
00:34:44.000 You got to go through it.
00:34:45.000 So though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you're like, I'm in it.
00:34:50.000 And so, you know, it would be great if God delivered us from it, but oftentimes we just got to go through it.
00:34:55.000 And so for me, like, I don't know when Jesus can come back.
00:34:59.000 And I always say, I'm not on the planning committee.
00:35:01.000 I'm on the welcoming committee.
00:35:03.000 Like, I don't have the day on the calendar, but I always got a kazoo ready to go.
00:35:06.000 I'm going to use all these, Mark, by the way.
00:35:08.000 I'm writing them all down.
00:35:09.000 By the way, the one that I'm tweeting is, I wrote this.
00:35:12.000 If you tolerate it, they will dominate.
00:35:14.000 Boy, is that good.
00:35:15.000 What power does Christ have over the demonic?
00:35:19.000 What can we do against the demonic?
00:35:21.000 The calls to action, items to fight against these old demons that seem to have dominion over our land.
00:35:27.000 So there's us, but through sin, we have surrendered to Satan, who is now the prince of this world, the God of this world, the God of the air.
00:35:33.000 He rules over us in our world.
00:35:36.000 Over us and Satan and demons is our God, Jesus Christ.
00:35:40.000 And he says all authority has been delegated to him.
00:35:43.000 So the only way you have authority over Satan and demons is if you belong to Jesus Christ and you're borrowing his authority.
00:35:51.000 And it's like a child that gets adopted into a family.
00:35:54.000 Now they have all the legal rights of being a son.
00:35:56.000 And so God is our father.
00:35:58.000 We get adopted into the family.
00:35:59.000 We get the same legal rights as Jesus.
00:36:01.000 And so this is where, Charlie, the issue is political and it is legal and it is judicial, but it's very spiritual.
00:36:09.000 And you can't defeat the demonic spirits of this age without the Holy Spirit.
00:36:15.000 So, yeah, but first of all, Roman adoption was actually more powerful than being born into somebody's blood family.
00:36:21.000 It was like the biggest principle.
00:36:23.000 Yeah, and so I don't think we understand that from a modern context.
00:36:25.000 Holy Spirit, the advocate.
00:36:28.000 That's another theological, let's just say, disagreement amongst tribes that I come in.
00:36:33.000 What is the Holy Spirit?
00:36:34.000 What is this?
00:36:35.000 For a lot of people, like the Father is the mean one.
00:36:37.000 Jesus is the nice one.
00:36:38.000 The Spirit is the weird one.
00:36:40.000 And that's not the way that it is.
00:36:41.000 So in the story of Elijah, Ahab is passive.
00:36:45.000 Jezebel is controlling.
00:36:46.000 There's the Ahab spirit and the Jezebel spirit.
00:36:48.000 We all start more leaning one direction or the other.
00:36:52.000 Elijah comes and he has the Holy Spirit.
00:36:56.000 And Elijah stands against everyone and everything that is against God.
00:37:00.000 And it says that John the Baptizer came in the spirit and power of Elijah.
00:37:03.000 Jesus came in the spirit and power of Elijah.
00:37:06.000 So if you want to know what it looks like to live by the Holy Spirit, it looks like Elijah.
00:37:10.000 It looks like John the Baptizer.
00:37:12.000 It looks like Jesus, who, by the way, all three had head-on collisions with government because it's always God versus government.
00:37:19.000 So to be filled with the Spirit is to have the character of Christ, the courage of Christ, and the clarity of Christ.
00:37:26.000 And so it's not so much about doing all of these wonderful things.
00:37:31.000 Elijah does.
00:37:31.000 He calls down fire from heaven.
00:37:33.000 He raises a dead young man.
00:37:36.000 He causes it not to rain through prayer for three and a half years.
00:37:39.000 He has these supernatural abilities and capacities.
00:37:42.000 But to the end of the day, it's character and it's courage and it's clarity.
00:37:47.000 Yeah, and yeah, the word character in Greek means tattoo or imprint.
00:37:50.000 It's a very powerful word.
00:37:52.000 But the calls to action, because our people say, well, how about this?
00:37:55.000 I have a woke pastor.
00:37:56.000 What do I do, Mark?
00:37:57.000 Get the hell out.
00:37:59.000 Well, I can change him, Mark.
00:38:00.000 It's kind of like a marriage.
00:38:02.000 I can change him.
00:38:03.000 Yeah, no, you can't.
00:38:05.000 I mean, if you see that he is weak and woke, then who he is is worse because all you're getting is a portion of who they truly are and what they truly believe.
00:38:15.000 And what happens with weak and woke pastors, they keep moving the line until there is no line.
00:38:22.000 And so we heard this.
00:38:23.000 I mean, there was a gal named Hillary Clinton speaking of Jezebel spirits.
00:38:27.000 And she's like, we want abortion to be rare, safe, and legal.
00:38:30.000 We know that's not true.
00:38:31.000 It was just we want to move the line and then we're going to move it again and then we're going to move it again.
00:38:35.000 Gay marriage is not the last line.
00:38:37.000 It's like we want to have gay marriage and then we want to have polygamy and that's coming in our lifetime.
00:38:41.000 And then we want to move minor attracted persons, which is, you know, pedophilia, changing the age of consent.
00:38:49.000 And so if your pastor is good at going backward and not forward, it's only a matter of time before he backs himself off a cliff.
00:38:56.000 So don't follow him.
00:38:58.000 Yeah, and so get out, right?
00:39:00.000 And find a church that is biblical.
00:39:02.000 Yeah.
00:39:02.000 And a pastor that's actually.
00:39:04.000 That's an Elijah.
00:39:05.000 Yes.
00:39:06.000 I mean, he gets up and you're like, man, I didn't know we were allowed to say that.
00:39:09.000 But that is what the Bible said.
00:39:10.000 Because as a Bible teacher, you are not allowed to edit God's word.
00:39:14.000 You are the mailman.
00:39:16.000 You need to deliver the mail and you're not allowed to edit the mail.
00:39:19.000 Yeah, you're a messenger from one point to the other.
00:39:22.000 That's it.
00:39:23.000 We get thousands of emails from faithful listeners.
00:39:26.000 They say, I don't like my church.
00:39:27.000 I can't find a good church.
00:39:28.000 I can't.
00:39:29.000 It's an epidemic, especially post-COVID.
00:39:31.000 Yeah, it is.
00:39:31.000 I mean, all of a sudden, the spirit of Jezebel closed down the church in the days of Elijah on planet Earth, but only in the nation of Israel.
00:39:38.000 The Jezebel spirit a few years ago didn't just take over a nation.
00:39:42.000 It took over a planet.
00:39:43.000 And it closed the churches.
00:39:45.000 It closed the churches for Easter.
00:39:47.000 For the first time in the history of planet Earth, the resurrection of Jesus was canceled.
00:39:53.000 And the church was and Pentecost too, Pentecost Sunday.
00:39:55.000 Yep.
00:39:56.000 Not too long after that.
00:39:57.000 We just kind of rolled our eyes.
00:39:59.000 We said, okay.
00:39:59.000 Well, that's what the government said.
00:40:00.000 Well, what did God say?
00:40:02.000 Yeah, and I want to get your take on Romans 13 because we hear about that one all the time.
00:40:06.000 People are looking for their people.
00:40:08.000 There's a sense of community.
00:40:08.000 Ecclesia is missing.
00:40:10.000 Well, yeah, I mean, the Bible says that the world is not our home.
00:40:13.000 You go to Target, you're like, this ain't my home.
00:40:14.000 You're like, I go to Disneyland.
00:40:15.000 This ain't my home.
00:40:17.000 I mean, you go to the Boy Scouts, and they got a couple thousand kids recently under a rainbow flag.
00:40:21.000 No, they're grooming kids for homosexual agendas at the Boy Scouts now.
00:40:24.000 Totally.
00:40:25.000 And I'm an Eagle Scout, so it's like this to see the destruction of that institution.
00:40:29.000 Yeah, no, and so if you're a Bible-believing Christian, or if you're just a sane heterosexual human being, you walk around and you're like, I feel like nowhere is home for me.
00:40:40.000 And I think that's where church needs to be countercultural.
00:40:43.000 It needs to be separated from the world, but open to the world.
00:40:48.000 And it's like, this is where we believe the Bible.
00:40:50.000 We love Jesus.
00:40:51.000 We love each other.
00:40:52.000 And we're just going to do things like God said.
00:40:54.000 And this is the place for God's people.
00:40:57.000 So let me ask you, Mark, this is a difficult question.
00:41:00.000 Do you think at times the church is too next world focused than this world focused?
00:41:08.000 Yeah, and I think, you know, if you read the Bible and you hear about heaven, it's not, we're going to raise from the dead.
00:41:14.000 The curse is going to be lifted.
00:41:15.000 Satan and demons are gone.
00:41:16.000 Nobody gets sick.
00:41:17.000 You get to hug your grandpa.
00:41:19.000 You know, it's so bougie.
00:41:21.000 The streets are lined with gold.
00:41:22.000 You're like, hey, man, you know, give me a one-way ticket as soon as possible.
00:41:27.000 But the point is not to just get to heaven, but to get heaven to us.
00:41:31.000 That's where Jesus prays, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
00:41:34.000 And so what we want is we want heaven to come to us before we get to heaven.
00:41:39.000 And so how do you live your life in the presence of God with the people of God by the power of God so that so that this world is actually a little bit enjoyable before it's over?
00:41:49.000 And so I always like to tell our people, if you're not a Christian, this is your heaven, and you're going to hell.
00:41:55.000 This is as close to heaven as you will ever be.
00:41:59.000 If you are a Christian, this is your hell.
00:42:02.000 This is as close to hell as you will ever be, and heaven awaits you.
00:42:06.000 And so, you know, for us, like this is our hell.
00:42:10.000 But how do we get heaven to visit us so that we have a little hope until we get to our heaven?
00:42:15.000 Some people say we shouldn't even try to do that, right?
00:42:18.000 That's a theological debate, right?
00:42:20.000 They say all that matters is the rescue mission, right?
00:42:23.000 Get to the next life.
00:42:25.000 This earth is not our home.
00:42:26.000 Who cares if it falls apart?
00:42:27.000 It's just temporary.
00:42:29.000 But then there's also, you could have to balance that with being a good steward and how God calls us to live.
00:42:33.000 Jesus came into this world.
00:42:35.000 Jesus worked a job.
00:42:36.000 Jesus had relationships.
00:42:39.000 Jesus didn't just come for 15 to 17 minutes and then exit.
00:42:43.000 He hung out here for a few decades.
00:42:45.000 That's our example, is to follow him.
00:42:49.000 So let's recap part of this.
00:42:51.000 New Days Old Demons, Mark Driscoll.
00:42:52.000 Anything, I always ask this of our guests, anything we did not cover in the book that you want to make sure you emphasize that in the themes because you put a lot of work in it.
00:43:01.000 Well, for those who are Christian, you need to see the world through the Bible.
00:43:08.000 And so what we tend to do is we have like our news feed and our Bible teaching.
00:43:13.000 I want to put the Bible teaching in front of the newsfeed.
00:43:17.000 And I don't want to just look at the scriptures.
00:43:19.000 I want to look through the scriptures to the world that we're living in and the demons that we're fighting against and the experiences that we're having.
00:43:25.000 For those who are maybe church hurt, been through a rough season, pick up the book, forgive the people that have hurt you, and find God and separate God and the church so that you can get back to God and maybe then find a good church.
00:43:40.000 For those who are conservative, but they're not Christian, you're halfway there.
00:43:44.000 You need Jesus Christ because you don't need to know just what's wrong with the world, but the only hope and hero for it, and his name is Jesus.
00:43:52.000 Once you start drinking from the streams of liberty, you're going to want to find its source.
00:43:56.000 Jesus says, Yeah, I'm going to set you free.
00:43:58.000 His whole thing is freedom.
00:43:59.000 Yeah, John 10:10, which is what Satan does, lies to steal, cheat, and destroy.
00:44:04.000 I have come to give life and life more abundantly.
00:44:06.000 What do you have to say to the criticism, Mark, that you're too political when you talk about these things?
00:44:10.000 Everything is political.
00:44:12.000 Everything is political.
00:44:14.000 And so at the end of the day, if you're saying, well, I don't talk about abortion because it's political.
00:44:18.000 It's not.
00:44:18.000 It's biblical.
00:44:19.000 It's the murder of an innocent human being.
00:44:21.000 And if we're going to be for social justice, it needs to be for the greatest Holocaust in our lifetime.
00:44:27.000 The most dangerous place on earth, even a few years ago, was not walking around without a mask.
00:44:32.000 It was just being in your mother's womb.
00:44:34.000 The leading cause of death was not COVID, even by the false standards.
00:44:38.000 It was abortion.
00:44:38.000 And so this is what frustrates me.
00:44:41.000 Everything is political.
00:44:42.000 Truth is political.
00:44:43.000 Life is political.
00:44:44.000 Freedom is political.
00:44:46.000 Church being open is political.
00:44:48.000 And if you read the story of Elijah, every day it's a head-on collision between the prophet and the government.
00:44:54.000 Same with John the Baptizer.
00:44:55.000 Same with Jesus Christ.
00:44:57.000 They crucified Jesus because he was an offense to the authorities in the Roman government.
00:45:02.000 Jesus died because he picked a fight with the political.
00:45:05.000 So those who quote Romans 13, they're like, obey the government.
00:45:08.000 It's written by a dude who did some of his best work from prison.
00:45:11.000 That's right.
00:45:12.000 Started a number of riots.
00:45:14.000 And if you look at Elijah and you look at all the prophets and you look at Daniel and you look at Joseph, usually the government hates them and God loves them and they're a sledgehammer for justice.
00:45:25.000 Look at the midwives.
00:45:26.000 We don't know if they're Egyptian or Hebrew in Exodus 2 or 3.
00:45:28.000 It's civil disobedience.
00:45:29.000 Yeah, I think it's Exodus 2.
00:45:31.000 It's the first act of civil disobedience.
00:45:32.000 And it said, and it pleased God.
00:45:34.000 Yeah.
00:45:35.000 And I think they're Egyptian.
00:45:36.000 I know that's it's debated, but it's actually even more powerful if they're Egyptian.
00:45:40.000 They said, no, we're not going to kill the firstborn.
00:45:43.000 Well, because government speaks, but above government is God.
00:45:47.000 Yes, that's yes.
00:45:48.000 And so they say this in Acts when they tell the early disciples, don't preach Jesus.
00:45:52.000 They're like, we have to obey God.
00:45:53.000 God, not government.
00:45:55.000 And so I will obey the government until it disobeys God, and then I will appear to the higher authority because government doesn't have innate authority.
00:46:03.000 It has derivative authority that comes from God.
00:46:05.000 Our whole nation is founded on that principle.
00:46:08.000 And so many times, Mark, I heard pastors say, Charlie, I'm closing down mandating masks because of Romans 13.
00:46:14.000 I'm like, man, your theology is so shallow, man.
00:46:17.000 If that's your excuse.
00:46:19.000 But those are the evangelifish with no vertebrae.
00:46:22.000 Evangelifish with no vertebrae.
00:46:26.000 Yeah, that sounds about right.
00:46:27.000 I love it.
00:46:28.000 New days, old demons.
00:46:29.000 Any closing thoughts, Mark?
00:46:30.000 Nope.
00:46:30.000 Thanks.
00:46:31.000 This was fun.
00:46:31.000 God bless you, man.
00:46:32.000 We have your back, Mark.
00:46:33.000 Keep speaking the truth.
00:46:34.000 God bless you.
00:46:34.000 Thank you.
00:46:35.000 Thanks so much for listening.
