00:01:33.000 Incredibly important.

00:01:35.000 Share it.

00:01:36.000 Listen.

00:01:37.000 Learn.

00:01:38.000 Buckle up, everybody.

00:01:39.000 It's time to open up our schools.

00:01:41.000 Here we go.

00:01:43.000 Charlie, what you've done is incredible here.

00:01:45.000 Maybe Charlie Kirk is on the college campuses.

00:01:47.000 I want you to know we are lucky to have Charlie Kirk.

00:01:50.000 Charlie Kirk's running the White House, folks.

00:01:54.000 I want to thank Charlie.

00:01:55.000 He's an incredible guy.

00:01:56.000 His spirit, his love of this country, he's done an amazing job building one of the most powerful youth organizations ever created, Turning Point USA.

00:02:04.000 We will not embrace the ideas that have destroyed countries, destroyed lives, and we are going to fight for freedom on campuses across the country.

00:02:13.000 That's why we are here.

00:02:16.000 What if I told you we are robbing our youth of their most developmental and foundational moment in their life?

00:02:25.000 As you know, there's been an incredible amount of fear-mongering and demagoguing when it comes to the Chinese coronavirus.

00:02:32.000 I'm going to break down some, just to say hard and fast examples of this later in the show.

00:02:38.000 But nowhere is this felt more acutely or more intensely than for parents with school-aged children.

00:02:45.000 You see, the Chinese coronavirus has flipped nearly every single aspect of our daily life completely upside down, especially for parents and even more so parents with kids that are in elementary school, middle school, and high school. 0.70

00:03:02.000 Before the pandemic, maybe you went into work, maybe an office job, or maybe you worked on a factory floor. 0.99

00:03:08.000 And we talk a lot on the Charlie Kirk show about how jobs with your hands have meaning.

00:03:13.000 Maybe you're a plumber or an electrician, HVAC.

00:03:16.000 You were able to go to work with a sense of ease that your child was being looked after and being taken care of throughout the day.

00:03:25.000 That your child was safely learning or maybe playing away at his or her own school.

00:03:31.000 But not anymore.

00:03:32.000 You see, one of the biggest tragedies of the last couple months through all the lockdowns and all the shutdowns have been the closure of our schools.

00:03:43.000 Parents have now had double the burden of not only trying to continue to put food on the table, but trying to care for, raise, entertain, and otherwise provide for their kids.

00:03:54.000 But think about it this way.

00:03:56.000 If you are a parent that happens to be lucky enough to still have your job and not be one of the 20 million plus Americans out of work that we know of, you are now forced to work from home, likely with a second full-time job, and still babysit your kid or your children.

00:04:13.000 Now, I'm going to talk about one positive that has actually come out of the fact that we have closed these schools, and it's later in the episode.

00:04:20.000 Stay tuned and listen closely because there's actually a positive from all this, and it's not an intended positive from all these lockdowns and from us closing down schools, but it should be a learning moment and a teaching moment, no pun intended.

00:04:33.000 Now, mind you, many parents have struggled to find activities for their children to do safely, which, by the way, good luck with that.

00:04:41.000 Most of the parks are closed.

00:04:42.000 They even closed the zoos and the museums and the movie theaters. 0.52

00:04:45.000 Gavin Newsom, who is a, let's just say, hopeless authoritarian tyrant thug, just closed down California again.

00:04:56.000 And LA Unified School District, which is one of the largest school districts, if not the largest school district in the entire country, just announced they're going to start the fall semester completely and totally online.

00:05:09.000 They are the second largest school district in the entire country, second largest.

00:05:13.000 New York City, of course, being the largest.

00:05:15.000 Now, mind you, in California, you have Nancy Pelosi, who justifies the tearing down of statues, who says, oh, well, some people just need to blow off some steam, and some people, they're going to do what they want, basically.

00:05:28.000 Well, as the great Adam Carolla says, can I get that in writing?

00:05:32.000 Because if people are going to do what they want, can I go to the movie theaters and go to the beaches?

00:05:36.000 It's just a fun little side note of the Democrat hypocrisy and double standards.

00:05:41.000 If Democrats did not have double standards, they would not have any standards at all.

00:05:46.000 So what are parents expected to do during working hours with very few extracurricular activities left to them while schools are completely and totally closed?

00:05:55.000 What about poorer families who only have their patios or apartment balconies as outdoor space? 0.67

00:06:01.000 Like all ruling class fantasies, like all pipe dreams of the elites, it is the middle class and lower class that are hurt the most by the dreams and the wishes and the utopian master plans of people that have doctorates in infectious diseases, or sometimes they don't even have doctorates in infectious diseases, and they are the ones that are trying to central plan our entire society and culture.

00:06:30.000 This is a microcosm of a macro problem that has happened in our country, where you have elites that are completely insulated from the decisions that they are making to the rest of our country.

00:06:43.000 You see, the Founding Fathers warned us against this.

00:06:46.000 This is why the Founding Fathers argued that Congress shall make no law that does not also apply to the people making those laws.

00:06:54.000 You see, the Founding Fathers anticipated that if we were to create a political class or a ruling class or an economic class that would not have to live under the same sort of sacrifices, the same sort of pain, the same sort of suffering, the same sort of tribulation that public policy would force the citizens to go under, then all of a sudden the people would easily pass rules and decrees that would be very bad for the citizens, but the rulers would be exempt.

00:07:21.000 This is a very medieval, very oligarchic way to view the world.

00:07:25.000 And you could see how the Silicon Valley elites and how Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer, they conveniently pass order after order that they themselves think that they should be exempt from and their family should be exempt from.

00:07:40.000 Look at Governor Gretchen Whitmer, where during the lockdown, her husband tried to take a boat out on a lake in western Michigan and basically gave the boat dock operator, don't you know who I am?

00:07:54.000 Despite his wife literally issuing a decree that says you can't go take a boat out on a lake.

00:08:00.000 And we talk about this all the time, how the left has this thing called leftist privilege or liberal privilege.

00:08:05.000 Because the really rich kids in Beverly Hills, they're getting plenty of premier treatment.

00:08:13.000 They're getting world-class mentorship.

00:08:15.000 They're able to still go on vacations.

00:08:17.000 They're able to go to the whining and dining spots of California or the American West on vacation this summer, where lower-income and middle-income eight, nine, and 10-year-olds, they've had the sports stolen from them.

00:08:32.000 They have had any sort of gathering stolen from them.

00:08:35.000 And for what?

00:08:36.000 Can kids die from this disease at a very high rate?

00:08:39.000 Can kids infect their parents?

00:08:41.000 We'll get to that in a second.

00:08:43.000 But by the way, as a side note to this, you have Disney, which has become, as we highlighted in a previous episode of the Charlie Kirk Show, where we talk a lot about how Colin Kaepernick has made hating America a cottage industry in our country, where he has made millions of dollars around hating the country where he's now going to be a millionaire in the country that he hates.

00:09:04.000 I mean, how awful can America be if you can become a multi-millionaire bashing on that country?

00:09:08.000 I have a lot of doubts about how awful that country is.

00:09:12.000 To complete the point, you have children watching Disney Plus, the same BLM ink propaganda, because they're not able to go out into the parks.

00:09:20.000 They're not able to go play basketball with their friends. 0.59

00:09:24.000 And so now you have perfect little incubation sites for left-wing Marxist nonsense when young boys in particular have no space to be able to blow off steam, to be able to go play with their friends.

00:09:39.000 Why?

00:09:40.000 Well, because the virus.

00:09:42.000 We're going to dive into that. 0.99

00:09:43.000 We're going to say why that's complete and total rubbish, balderdash, horsepucky nonsense. 0.98

00:09:49.000 And some people say, well, we can do distance learning. 0.99

00:09:52.000 Distance learning is a joke.

00:09:54.000 There's been one positive about distance learning.

00:09:57.000 I'm going to get into that.

00:09:58.000 But it's no substitute for in-person learning.

00:10:00.000 It just isn't.

00:10:02.000 This is all upon the backdrop that today's headline out of California that I mentioned earlier should terrify all of us.

00:10:09.000 This is from NBC.

00:10:11.000 Los Angeles and San Diego school districts are going to start their year online as virus cases surge.

00:10:17.000 Los Angeles school superintendent said this.

00:10:20.000 There's a public health imperative to keep our schools from becoming a Petri dish.

00:10:24.000 Now, mind you, Orange County, from a vote of four to one from the Orange County Board of Education, they are opening schools with no masks this fall.

00:10:33.000 Good for you, Orange County.

00:10:35.000 Maybe Orange County is actually more culturally conservative than people realize.

00:10:39.000 And maybe the Republicans that are trying to win back the seats in Orange County, so just so you understand, Orange County is the area of Irvine, Santa Ana, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, that beautiful part of America.

00:10:54.000 There are five congressional districts in Orange County.

00:10:55.000 All five of them are now Democrat.

00:10:57.000 And I think that Republicans are going to win back a couple of them.

00:11:00.000 And Orange County has now decided that they are going to reopen schools, no masks, four to one.

00:11:06.000 And a lot of it was because of vote harvesting.

00:11:08.000 A lot of the reason why Democrats won those seats is because vote by mail and vote harvesting.

00:11:13.000 That's a different podcast for a different time.

00:11:15.000 We will get into it.

00:11:16.000 Now, mind you, in the joint announcement, the school districts, Los Angeles and San Diego, said the research around coronavirus-era school safety remains incomplete and that many of the public guidelines are vague and contradictory.

00:11:31.000 However, the school districts added, one fact is clear.

00:11:34.000 Those countries that have managed to safely reopen schools have done so with declining infection rates and on-demand testing available.

00:11:41.000 California has neither.

00:11:42.000 The skyrocketing infection rates of the past few weeks have made it clear the pandemic is not under control.

00:11:47.000 So first of all, this is totally rubbish and incorrect on two counts.

00:11:52.000 America has one of the lowest mortality rates in the entire world. 0.76

00:11:55.000 That's right.

00:11:56.000 America, for being blamed for every single problem in the history of the world, for now having protests in the streets, having arsonists be able to burn down entire city blocks and get away with it.

00:12:08.000 With all that being said, you complete the circle.

00:12:10.000 America still, despite being so criticized and ridiculed and our healthcare system being ridiculed, we have one of the lowest mortality rates in the entire world.

00:12:19.000 We test more people per capita than almost any other country.

00:12:23.000 Some say we have more than any other country.

00:12:26.000 Statista has us at number five in the world testing over 128,000 per million people ahead of countries like Belgium, Germany, Canada, Italy, and other countries, etc.

00:12:38.000 New York City, which is home to the largest school district in the nation, has opted for a partial reopening with classroom attendance limited to one to three days a week.

00:12:47.000 Chicago, the third largest, has yet to announce a roadmap.

00:12:50.000 I'm sure they'll follow.

00:12:51.000 Whatever is the least logical path forward, you can bet dime on a dollar, you can go all in that the Chicago Teacher Union will do whatever is worst for the kids.

00:13:02.000 Whatever is the worst possible output for black children, that is what the Chicago Teacher Union will do.

00:13:08.000 If you want to talk about how black kids are going to fail, whatever they find on a stat sheet, that it is the worst for kids, but the best for the cartel that runs the teacher unions in Chicago, that's the decision that the CTU is going to use, Chicago Teachers Union.

00:13:22.000 Now, mind you, President Trump is totally fighting back against this. 0.75

00:13:25.000 This is a winning issue.

00:13:27.000 President Trump should go double and triple down on this issue.

00:13:30.000 The more he talks about it, the better.

00:13:32.000 He's calling on America to fully open schools this fall.

00:13:35.000 Play tape.

00:13:36.000 We hope that most schools are going to be open.

00:13:39.000 We don't want people to make political statements or do it for political reasons.

00:13:42.000 They think it's going to be good for them politically, so they keep the schools closed.

00:13:45.000 No way.

00:13:46.000 So we're very much going to put pressure on governors and everybody else to open the schools, to get them open.

00:13:54.000 And it's very important.

00:13:56.000 It's very important for our country.

00:13:58.000 It's very important for the well-being of the student and the parents.

00:14:01.000 So we're going to be putting a lot of pressure on open your schools in the fall.

00:14:06.000 President Trump even threatened to remove federal funds from school districts that don't open back up.

00:14:12.000 Now, it's not that he can do this unilaterally, but the federal government provided 8.3% of funding for public elementary and secondary schools in 2015-2016, the last year for which a detailed funding breakdown was available.

00:14:27.000 By the way, thank you for those of you that support us monthly on charliekirk.com/slash support, charliekirk.com/slash support.

00:14:34.000 Thank you for supporting us and chipping in.

00:14:36.000 I encourage you to do that and help us continue to keep our show self-sufficient because our research team did hours and hours of research, and the latest available research that we could find was from 2015, 2016.

00:14:49.000 Do you think our federal government is broken if we're not even able to find reliable data of how much the federal government is funding public education?

00:14:58.000 So the last we were able to find it was four years ago.

00:15:02.000 That's a side point, but a very important point.

00:15:04.000 President Trump could likely restrict recent pandemic relief funding or refuse to sign future education grants and bailouts.

00:15:11.000 The head of the Department of Education, Secretary Betsy DeVos, during an interview on Fox News Sunday, emphasized students must return to their classrooms.

00:15:19.000 Kids have got to get back to school, she said.

00:15:22.000 Kids cannot afford to not continue learning.

00:15:24.000 DeVos said it's not a matter of if this happens, it's a matter of how.

00:15:28.000 Good for her.

00:15:29.000 Betsy DeVos is a friend.

00:15:30.000 Betsy DeVos deserves credit for this.

00:15:32.000 This is a tough stand. 0.98

00:15:34.000 This is one that takes a backbone in a spine.

00:15:36.000 And we on the Charlie Kirk Show, we call balls and strikes of people in the entire conservative movement that do have backbones and don't have backbones.

00:15:43.000 And we called out a certain senator from Indiana when he decided to say nice things about BLM Inc.

00:15:48.000 We gave him a very, let's just say, harsh cross-examination. 0.98

00:15:52.000 Betsy DeVos, good for you.

00:15:55.000 You deserve full credit for this because this is not easy. 1.00

00:15:58.000 You are getting protested.

00:15:59.000 You are getting picketed.

00:16:00.000 You're probably going to get called in front of Congress for this.

00:16:03.000 So we have your back.

00:16:05.000 Good for you.

00:16:06.000 In a separate CNN interview, Betsy DeVos cited information from the YMCA that showed low rates of viral spread among children who attended child care facilities.

00:16:15.000 Quote, there's going to be the exception to the rule.

00:16:18.000 But the rule should be that kids go back to school this fall.

00:16:21.000 Where there are little flare-ups or hotspots that can be dealt with on a school-by-school or case-by-case basis, there's ample opportunity to have kids in school, Secretary DeVos said.

00:16:29.000 Seems reasonable, right?

00:16:30.000 We'll think again. 1.00

00:16:31.000 Far-left activist turned Congresswoman Ayanna Presley took a fact-free, ridiculously radical ideological approach to criticizing Secretary DeVos. 1.00

00:16:40.000 Now, if Ayanna Presley is taking a harsh stand on something, it's pretty, you can be pretty confident it is rooted in foolishness. 0.96

00:16:48.000 Whatever hard stand Ayanna Presley is taking, probably going to be wrong.

00:16:55.000 It's not a perfect rule. 0.54

00:16:56.000 It's not arithmetic.

00:16:57.000 It's not a law of physics, but it's a general guiding principle.

00:17:01.000 Let's put it that way.

00:17:02.000 Here's what Ayanna Presley said.

00:17:03.000 Who's the Marxist from Boston? 1.00

00:17:05.000 Betsy DeVos, you have no plan.

00:17:07.000 Teachers, kids, and parents are fearing for their lives.

00:17:10.000 You point to a private sector that has put profits over people and claimed the lives of thousands of essential workers.

00:17:16.000 I wouldn't trust you to care for a houseplant, let alone my child.

00:17:20.000 So just to make sure you caught that, no facts at all.

00:17:23.000 I wouldn't expect any facts from Ayanna Presley.

00:17:26.000 She's not a fact-based person.

00:17:27.000 She's an emotive, pathological Marxist, a postmodern activist from Boston, former city council member, who is part of the squad, Rashida Talib, Ayanna Presley, Elon Omar, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the squad who hates America and wants to see America fail.

00:17:43.000 Now, mind you, Ayanna Presley, she puts out this tweet similar to Senator Tammy Duckworth, who we, I think, adequately deconstructed in a previous episode of the Charlie Kirk Show, where Senator Tammy Duckworth and Ayanna Presley, they have these witty tweets where they think they're going to make it go viral and they're going to get the headlines on Huffington Post and BuzzFeed. 1.00

00:18:05.000 Ayanna Presley slams down Betsy DeVos. 0.52

00:18:09.000 And they basically just do arguments from authority with no basis in evidence, facts, history, logic, or critical thinking. 0.80

00:18:16.000 Pure and total emotion.

00:18:20.000 Rooted in personal insults, by the way.

00:18:22.000 It's almost like they're trained Marxists.

00:18:25.000 Well, I mean, community organizers or whatever they are, because they actually are trained Marxists.

00:18:31.000 But of course, those of you that listen closely to the Charlie Kirk show, you now know how the left operates.

00:18:37.000 And if you're looking of how to spend some meaningful time, I encourage you to go back in the archives.

00:18:41.000 I've been getting some amazing emails on freedom at charliekirk.com, freedom at charliekirk.com.

00:18:46.000 One thing that we do here on the Charlie Kirk show is we study the American left, something that most establishment Republicans have not done because they've never fought the left like I have.

00:18:56.000 They have not received death threats from Antifa like I have.

00:18:59.000 They have not been stormed out of restaurants like I have from Antifa.

00:19:03.000 They don't have to walk onto college campuses with armed security.

00:19:06.000 In fact, some members of Congress that are Republicans would go on a college campus and no one would recognize them if they were to be given a million dollars.

00:19:13.000 And that's not an insult towards them.

00:19:14.000 It's just not a life that they live.

00:19:16.000 And so a lot of you, thank you for meticulously and for seriously listening to this because you now know how all this works.

00:19:25.000 You know how the left operates.

00:19:27.000 You know what drives them.

00:19:28.000 You know the philosophy.

00:19:30.000 We're only beginning on this journey together to dive deep into the mind and into the worldview of the American left.

00:19:38.000 As dark as that might be, the more you understand the left, the more you're going to be able to counter it.

00:19:43.000 The more you'll be able to spot what they're doing incorrectly in our country.

00:19:46.000 The more you're going to be able to predict what they're doing next.

00:19:48.000 And most importantly, the more confident you'll be in your worldview grounded in conservatism, Christian, Western ideas.

00:19:57.000 So now you know how this works.

00:19:59.000 If the president or the administration advocates for kids going back to school, now that means it's somehow controversial.

00:20:05.000 That's how things work now in 2020.

00:20:08.000 But here's the truth: polls show that parents want their students back in school.

00:20:12.000 So a recent Gallup poll shows that 56% of a 1,200-parent survey supports a full return to school.

00:20:20.000 37% wants some remote learning and some part-time instruction, and 7% wants different options.

00:20:27.000 And the 37% said they would prefer a hybrid program where students attend in-person classes on a part-time basis and make up the rest with distance learning, which I think is a fair approach in certain areas, if that happens to be the absolute compromise.

00:20:42.000 But just shutting down schools like Los Angeles and San Diego are deciding to do right now is anti-science and it's anti-children, anti-parent, anti-family.

00:20:52.000 Yet this is the option that California is going for.

00:20:55.000 So while real Americans and the president are courageously calling for sanity to return and for kids to go back to school so parents can work and help this country recover from the damage that has been done because of these draconian backwards and honestly regrettable lockdowns, who is opposed to this common sense?

00:21:14.000 The answer is the teacher unions.

00:21:17.000 At least one chapter of the American Federation of Teachers is even planning on going on strike if they have to go back to school.

00:21:24.000 I will say this every time we talk about education.

00:21:27.000 Public sector teacher unions have done incalculable damage to the United States of America.

00:21:37.000 Public sector teacher unions do not care about the education of our kids.

00:21:42.000 They do not care about black kids not being able to read in the inner cities.

00:21:45.000 They don't care about white kids not being able to read in Appalachia. 0.83

00:21:50.000 All public sector teacher unions care about is the cartel bosses that prey on the hearts of the voters and prey on the best intentions of local communities.

00:22:02.000 They don't even care about teachers.

00:22:03.000 They don't.

00:22:04.000 They say they do.

00:22:06.000 But they don't want good teachers to be paid more and they don't want bad teachers to be fired.

00:22:11.000 Many of these teacher unions do not care about the science or the data.

00:22:16.000 They do not want accountability.

00:22:18.000 They just want more money.

00:22:19.000 If you understand how the Sinaloa cartel works in Mexico, if you understood how the Gambino crime family works, if you've seen Sopranos before, then you understand how this public sector teacher unions work.

00:22:33.000 It is no different than a mob infrastructure because it was set up by the mob back in the 60s and 70s.

00:22:40.000 Public sector teacher unions and public sector unions were set up by the mob.

00:22:46.000 The entire model is about trying to exploit the citizenry at all costs and make people pay mandatory dues to advance their left-wing Democrat agenda.

00:22:56.000 Now, thankfully, Supreme Court Justice Kennedy, before he exited and was replaced by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and even John Roberts ruled correctly on this decision a year and a half ago, was the Janus decision.

00:23:10.000 The Janus decision now allows teachers to no longer pay mandatory teacher union dues.

00:23:17.000 The teacher unions still have a huge amount of power in the LA Unified School District and in New York City.

00:23:23.000 More on this later. 0.99

00:23:24.000 And they always want more money.

00:23:27.000 Now, look, we just mentioned San Diego and L.A., but as another example, Miami-Dade County said they will not open their school system at the end of August either.

00:23:27.000 Always.

00:23:37.000 Their school superintendent said.

00:23:39.000 Completely anti-science.

00:23:42.000 This is going to put a disproportionate amount of burden on parents, on families, and on workers.

00:23:49.000 So, most schools, like those in New York City, will attempt to open with a very bizarre and unproven and risky mix of distance learning or highly limited in-class learning.

00:24:02.000 Which, again, I'm not a huge fan of.

00:24:04.000 If that's what you have to do, I guess, but no, just fully open the schools.

00:24:08.000 Fully open them.

00:24:09.000 Don't compromise.

00:24:10.000 No more kowtowing to the left.

00:24:13.000 So all of these plans allegedly include masks, limited class sizes, no sports, scheduled bathroom breaks, and more of the obnoxious, highly destructive, arbitrary central planning protocols that do little good to limit or slow, or they say stop the spread of the virus, and an incredible amount of psychological, social, spiritual, and economic damage to our children, to our schools, and to our beautiful country.

00:24:40.000 Now, the unions say it's all in the best interest and the health of our students. 0.94

00:24:44.000 Let's tell you why that is rubbish.

00:24:47.000 And before I go any further, I encourage you to send this podcast to 10 parents.

00:24:52.000 Please send this particular podcast that we are doing to 10 parents that you know.

00:24:57.000 Maybe it's parents that think that schools should be closed.

00:24:59.000 And maybe even tell them to fast forward to this point in the program because we are going to go piece by piece as to why schools should completely open.

00:25:08.000 It is absolute balder dash.

00:25:11.000 So here's a few reasons why.

00:25:13.000 The LA Unified School Districts conducted a poll of teachers engaged in distance learning and found that one-third of students never logged in at all.

00:25:21.000 That's right.

00:25:22.000 One-third of students never logged in at all.

00:25:24.000 Not very surprising.

00:25:26.000 Two-thirds of teachers said students were less likely to complete assignments with distance learning. 0.82

00:25:32.000 And of course, we know that is the case.

00:25:34.000 Two-thirds.

00:25:35.000 Also, students who participate in distance learning retain far less learning over summer break than students who learn in a classroom and students who are already losing a tremendous amount of learning over the summer.

00:25:46.000 But this is about much more than just learning, although that should be enough.

00:25:49.000 Being present in a classroom is how many children who are being abused at home or neglected in some other way are identified and provided with help.

00:26:01.000 You see, the left doesn't care about children.

00:26:03.000 Nancy Pelosi always say, well, we care about children. 0.71

00:26:07.000 Teacher unions say it's all about the children. 0.52

00:26:09.000 Then respond with this.

00:26:11.000 According to Health and Human Services HHS, one-fifth of all child abuse cases are cases that are reported by teachers and educational staff.

00:26:19.000 That's 20%.

00:26:21.000 So right now, 20% of child abuse victims are going undetected.

00:26:30.000 So children are being abused right now.

00:26:33.000 As I record this podcast, a child is being abused by a parent or by a family member that could have been detected if schools were open.

00:26:44.000 But the teacher unions, who all they care about is money, all they care about is time off, they're fine with children being abused and not being detected.

00:26:57.000 In Washington, D.C., family child agencies are reporting about a 62% decrease in abuse cases being reported.

00:27:05.000 So do you think that people are all of a sudden behaving wonderfully better?

00:27:10.000 We see crime going up in every other single vertical across the country, but abuses are going down.

00:27:15.000 What does that mean?

00:27:16.000 It means reporting is going down.

00:27:18.000 They're not getting reported.

00:27:19.000 Kids are still getting abused.

00:27:21.000 So believe it or not, kids going to school and a teacher being able to look a kid in the eye and maybe seeing a black and blue eye and seeing bruises on their knees and on their legs.

00:27:34.000 And all of a sudden they're able to call the police and the Department of Child Family Services.

00:27:38.000 And maybe that kid will no longer be abused because they're going to school.

00:27:41.000 But in Los Angeles, in San Diego, that's not happening.

00:27:45.000 I want you to think right now of the 11-year-old in Los Angeles that's being abused by a father or by an uncle that they're forced to live with.

00:27:53.000 And they're praying that schools will open.

00:27:56.000 Because when schools open, they know they can get help and they might be able to escape that environment.

00:28:01.000 That's not going to happen this fall.

00:28:04.000 You will have generational abuse of children that will go undetected, unnoticed, and quite honestly will not be fixed or addressed because the teacher unions are using a nationwide virus as an excuse to not open schools.

00:28:24.000 The American Academy of Pediatrics say that 70 to 80% of children with mental health receive their care at school.

00:28:30.000 Almost one-third of parents say their children's emotional and mental health is suffering.

00:28:35.000 Another third worry that it will start hurting their children soon.

00:28:39.000 So here's the kicker about the virus.

00:28:41.000 For children, the Chinese coronavirus is far less deadly than the seasonal flu.

00:28:47.000 99% of people who get infected, says the Hoover Institution's Dr. Scott Atlas, have no significant problem with the infection.

00:28:55.000 And who are most of those people?

00:28:57.000 Children.

00:28:58.000 Children under 18 make up 5.9% of United States cases, and children under 14 make up just 0.03% of cases.

00:29:07.000 The risk to children from the Chinese coronavirus is just a fraction of the risk from the flu every single year.

00:29:13.000 No one ever talked about closing schools for the flu.

00:29:16.000 Tucker Carlson made the great point that if the pandemic and lockdown led to just a 1% increase in teen suicides, which we have every reason to believe that they have, and by the way, if you can find reliable teenage suicide data, please email me, freedom at charliekirk.com.

00:29:32.000 Our incredible research team, they spent hours trying to find reliable suicide data and the search engines, Google and every other, they're hiding it.

00:29:41.000 You cannot find it right now.

00:29:43.000 They are suppressing suicide data intentionally right now.

00:29:46.000 You cannot find reliable suicide data.

00:29:50.000 And I encourage those of you that might be looking for some answers in some more depth on the mental health issue, please check out our Friday episode, The Human Cost of Cancel Culture.

00:30:01.000 And so if we even had a 1% increase in teen suicides, to close the point, it will constitute a higher death toll than all coronavirus deaths among high schoolers nationwide overall.

00:30:11.000 Mind you, children generally, almost all the data points to this, do not spread the virus to adults.

00:30:17.000 So here's a big lie alert.

00:30:18.000 A lot of the people on TV are saying, well, children can be little virus reactors and spread it to their parents.

00:30:25.000 The data actually shows, according to a Swiss study that found that viral loads spread by children with coronavirus were not enough to infect the people around them.

00:30:34.000 They're much more likely to get the disease from their parents.

00:30:38.000 Countries that follow science and the data have already opened their schools.

00:30:42.000 Now, in other words, those countries that don't have an election where they're trying to elect anyone other than President Donald Trump, they're acting logically.

00:30:50.000 If it was President Hillary Clinton, we would have baseball, sports, NFL, NBA, schools would be open, and we would have just scoffed off this pandemic.

00:30:59.000 And Hillary Clinton would have said, well, all those people dying are deplorables anyway, and I don't care about them.

00:31:04.000 And I wouldn't support that strategy either.

00:31:07.000 I'm not saying that people that are at risk should not be protected and sheltered in place.

00:31:12.000 What I am saying is that people who are not at risk should be allowed to go back to their life.

00:31:17.000 In Germany, four major medical associations endorsed reopening schools in person.

00:31:23.000 And this was in May, a full two months ago.

00:31:26.000 This was without the additional restrictions.

00:31:29.000 Australia deputy chief medical officer, they wrote an open letter saying that as an infection disease expert, the Chinese coronavirus is far less impactful to children than the flu, both in terms of health impacts and the spread.

00:31:43.000 He said that the data did not support closing schools.

00:31:47.000 Sweden never closed their schools.

00:31:49.000 Austria, Norway, and Singapore, Denmark all have their schools open.

00:31:54.000 And infection rates have not increased.

00:31:56.000 They've declined because they're probably getting herd immunity.

00:31:59.000 In Switzerland, the country's head of infectious diseases says, quote, scientists now know young children do not transmit the virus.

00:32:07.000 Experts at the Toronto Children's Hospital called for opening schools with no restrictions.

00:32:13.000 Masks, they say, if worn incorrectly, could actually lead to increased risk because of the infection.

00:32:19.000 Now, a study out of Germany has become one of the first to examine the Chinese coronavirus transmission in schools.

00:32:25.000 This is a very important point.

00:32:26.000 So take notes and send this to any one of your friends that might say, we have to close down schools and schools have to stay closed.

00:32:34.000 This study, which was done by the University of Dresden, tested more than 2,000 school children and teachers for the antibodies since the reopening of schools in Germany in the spring.

00:32:45.000 The study found no evidence of widespread virus transmission.

00:32:49.000 Let me say that again for emphasis of the point.

00:32:51.000 The school found no evidence of widespread virus transmission.

00:32:56.000 Antibodies were detected in only 12 of the 2,045 people examined.

00:33:02.000 That's not much more than at the beginning of the pandemic in March, meaning that very few schoolchildren caught the Chinese coronavirus.

00:33:10.000 Instead of fears that school would become hotspots for transmission, Richard Berner, who's the director of the Poly Clinic for Children and Adolescent Medicine at the Dresden University Hospital, said it's actually the opposite.

00:33:22.000 Children act more like a break on the infection.

00:33:25.000 Not every other infection that reaches them is passed on. 0.72

00:33:30.000 I mean, we did beat the Germans in World War II, but they're beating us in the war against the Chinese coronavirus because they're actually thinking logically right now.

00:33:40.000 And what does Randy Weitgarten, who is a corrupt cartel-running thug of the American Federation of Teachers, I want to be very clear.

00:33:48.000 I am pro-teacher.

00:33:50.000 I love teachers.

00:33:51.000 I think teachers are modern day heroes.

00:33:54.000 I think teachers should be paid more money.

00:33:56.000 I think bad teachers should be fired.

00:33:58.000 When I rail against the public sector teacher unions, it's like I, here's the equivalent.

00:34:03.000 I love people that legally immigrate from Mexico.

00:34:08.000 I hate the cartels in Mexico.

00:34:11.000 Big difference.

00:34:12.000 I am separating the cartel of the teachers from the teachers.

00:34:17.000 And what do they have to say about this?

00:34:20.000 Well, if you were thinking she wants more money, you're exactly right.

00:34:23.000 She said there's no way school across the country could reopen this fall because of a lack of federal funding.

00:34:28.000 This is such nonsense.

00:34:30.000 Weingarten said this, there's no way that you're going to have full-time schools for all the kids and all the teachers the way we used to have it.

00:34:37.000 Which she told actually a friend of mine, John Katz Matitis, great guy in AM770, WABC radio show on Sunday, once we have a vaccine, I hope we can get back to that.

00:34:47.000 Well, basically what she means is once Trump is no longer in office.

00:34:50.000 Right now there is a diabolical campaign to inflict as much pain on the psyche, the culture, the spirit, and the ethos in America, and schools are a huge part of that.

00:35:01.000 Schools are a massive part of that.

00:35:03.000 Randy Whitegarten continued by saying, and in doing this, not only is there a need for retrofitting, for ventilation systems, but also for buying the masks, for the cleaning equipment, for the nurses that we're going to need.

00:35:16.000 That's why we've been pushing really hard to get federal money to the states that need to reopen their schools.

00:35:21.000 Now, mind you, the School Superintendent Association has estimated it would cost an average of $1.8 million per school district to adhere to guidelines sent by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to reopen this fall. 1.00

00:35:32.000 This is the same woman who is asking, and she's really demanding and extorting that businesses change their schedule and work requirements to match what her and her thugs that run the teacher unions are requiring from students.

00:35:46.000 If you feel like this is all so illogical, well, it is.

00:35:51.000 Now, these unions, they really have the gall to say that there's no evidence that kids are at higher risk or dying from this virus from the common flu.

00:35:59.000 And yet more students will be abused, neglected, and suffer mental disorders that go untreated and undetected, and still others will commit suicide, and we're not going into work, and yes, you still have to pay us, and yes, you still have to make your employees change all their plans around us, and oh, yes, give us more money.

00:36:16.000 And in a future episode, I will go more into the school funding structure.

00:36:20.000 I have some amazing research on that and how school funding is not an issue about how we actually overfund a lot of our schools and underfund some schools that perform super well.

00:36:28.000 I went into this about a week ago.

00:36:29.000 You can go back in the archives of the Charlie Kirk show.

00:36:31.000 I highly encourage you to do that.

00:36:33.000 Now, mind you, this is almost all a problem caused by the propagandist activist media, and they are pushing forth a massive fear-mongering campaign on the American people.

00:36:44.000 Now, this is a common joke on social media, is that race riots and the pandemic will likely calm down right around November.

00:36:51.000 No, the media is extorting the public.

00:36:54.000 We've talked about this at length on our program before.

00:36:56.000 Basically, they're saying, without saying it, vote for Joe Biden and we'll give you all the peace and normalcy back.

00:37:02.000 They have taken America hostage, okay?

00:37:04.000 Now, you know that in any hostage situation, you do not negotiate with the terrorists.

00:37:08.000 You don't.

00:37:09.000 I encourage you to watch any movie, any film where there is a hostage situation at play, and you can see very clearly that, and if you look historically, and not just in cinema, in hostage situations, you have to teach the terrorists that you are stronger than the terrorists.

00:37:27.000 Now, I'm not calling the Democrat Party terrorist.

00:37:29.000 I'm not saying that for media matters, but they are taking America hostage.

00:37:33.000 They just are.

00:37:33.000 There is no reason to continue to shut down America's schools.

00:37:36.000 There isn't.

00:37:37.000 There is no reason to continue to keep our places of learning totally and completely shuttered.

00:37:43.000 There isn't.

00:37:44.000 So let's take two articles from Monday and break them down for you to explain exactly what I mean.

00:37:48.000 One is from CNN, which is a total dumpster fire, and chief propagandist, by the way, which has the headline, pediatrician, the truth about reopening schools during the Chinese coronavirus.

00:37:58.000 The other from the Washington Examiner has the headline that says, absolutely reopen schools.

00:38:03.000 Five out of five pediatricians would send their kids back to class.

00:38:06.000 So let's start with CNN.

00:38:07.000 I'll break this down by pulling a few key lines of their writer's logic.

00:38:10.000 It starts with, we all know that schools play a central and crucial role in the lives of their children.

00:38:15.000 But President Donald Trump, without clear plans to contain the coronavirus in communities where it is currently surging.

00:38:21.000 Well, first of all, he does have a plan.

00:38:23.000 Let's just look at Germany, Denmark, Australia, Sweden.

00:38:26.000 They've done a terrific job.

00:38:27.000 Open schools, no restrictions, no masks, no scheduled bathroom breaks, just open schools.

00:38:31.000 It continues, quote, this move would be detrimental to children, their parents and teachers, adding more fear and confusion during a time that already is chaotic.

00:38:39.000 No.

00:38:40.000 Causing working parents to do the job where paying teachers have to do? 0.99

00:38:45.000 No, they're paying their taxes for the teachers. 0.55

00:38:47.000 How do the teachers do their job?

00:38:49.000 So I'm going to say one positive thing that's come out of all this.

00:38:52.000 The one positive of this distance learning, and we are seeing your emails on freedomatcharliekirk.com, is for the first time, parents are actually seeing the nonsense and the garbage and the propaganda that these teachers have been teaching these kids.

00:39:05.000 For a long time, these parents, many of them, have been uninvolved in their children's learning.

00:39:09.000 They've been uninvolved in their kids' homework and assignments and what they're actually being taught every single day.

00:39:17.000 Now, parents are actually waking up to the anti-American indoctrination that is happening in our schools.

00:39:23.000 I think it's one positive of this distance learning.

00:39:25.000 I hope it's a wake-up call and a movement for homeschooling, private schooling, or getting more involved in your children's schooling. 0.95

00:39:32.000 For example, many kids are being taught white fragility. 0.90

00:39:35.000 It's becoming staple and mandatory curriculum all across the country. 0.90

00:39:39.000 We're not going to have a country anymore if this curriculum is continued to be propagandized to future generations.

00:39:47.000 So the article continues by saying, as communities, we must ensure that all schools, not only those in wealthier districts, have the resources to safely reopen this fall.

00:39:55.000 A failure to do so would further exacerbate disparities in education and would leave children in already vulnerable communities further behind their peers.

00:40:02.000 Again, the president is calling for all schools to open, not poor schools, not rich schools.

00:40:07.000 This is a traditional left-wing straw man argument.

00:40:10.000 Also, it's just so typical for a CNN writer to make this about class and pitting Americans against each other.

00:40:17.000 It's truly despicable.

00:40:18.000 Science and facts, and not fear or threats, must guide our choices.

00:40:23.000 That's exactly my point.

00:40:25.000 So here's where the CNN article goes completely off the rails. 1.00

00:40:28.000 She says this, Edith Brocco Sanchez, who happens to be a pediatrician, a foolish one at that. 0.98

00:40:34.000 Children simply don't exist in a vacuum. 0.97

00:40:36.000 They need parents to drop them off and pick them up, teachers to teach them, and babysitters, sometimes grandparents to help.

00:40:41.000 The list goes on.

00:40:42.000 The risk of acquiring the Chinese coronavirus, she doesn't say that.

00:40:45.000 I say it.

00:40:46.000 She says COVID-19 for adults seems to be greater from other parents than it is for other children.

00:40:50.000 It is unfair to ask parents to send their kids to school and to ask teachers, many of whom who have their own families, to show up to teach them while the virus continues to surge in communities around the country.

00:40:59.000 If we are serious about reopening schools everywhere, so we must be serious about containing the virus first.

00:41:04.000 So let's just get this straight.

00:41:05.000 Even though kids don't spread the virus, simply asking parents to drop off their kids at school, where there might be other adults could spread the virus, constitutes a large threat to keep schools closed.

00:41:15.000 I mean, under that logic, grocery stores should be closed.

00:41:19.000 Under that logic, we should not have gas stations open.

00:41:22.000 Why don't we close down home depots, liquor stores, pot dispensaries?

00:41:26.000 How about strip clubs in Long Island while churches are being closed by force?

00:41:30.000 And I said this on Twitter.

00:41:32.000 I am prepared to get arrested.

00:41:34.000 I want one of these governors to arrest me because I am not going to comply by any of these centralized planning, anti-science ordinances that say that I have to stay at home, that say that I can't do a gathering.

00:41:46.000 I had 3,300 students at an event for President Trump in Phoenix, Arizona.

00:41:52.000 And interestingly enough, the media hasn't followed up about how that caused a major outbreak.

00:41:58.000 Really interesting, isn't it?

00:41:59.000 I'm not going to say that there wasn't anyone who possibly got something there.

00:42:02.000 I'm not going to be as bold to say that.

00:42:05.000 But you can live your life again.

00:42:07.000 In fact, I encourage you to live your life again.

00:42:10.000 And these authoritarian, tyrant governors in both parties that are trying to micromanage and centrally plan our country into the dustbin of history must be stopped by all of us. 0.97

00:42:23.000 And CNN, we know they're a dumpster fire. 0.98

00:42:26.000 They are platforming this nonsense and their entire modus operandi. 0.99

00:42:31.000 They wake up in every single article.

00:42:33.000 They're true north.

00:42:34.000 If you go to CNN.com, I encourage you to do this once and only once.

00:42:38.000 Every single article on the New York Times website and CNN.com points to the North Star of defeating Donald Trump.

00:42:46.000 There's not a singular piece of writing, except maybe an opinion piece every so often.

00:42:52.000 There's not a singular piece that does not point to their daily mission to defeat President Trump.

00:42:59.000 It is their sworn and committed oath at CNN and the New York Times and the Washington Post.

00:43:05.000 And once you understand that, that should allow you with more clarity to see exactly why they interpret the news the way that they do.

00:43:13.000 And so then the other article that I want to address from the Washington Examiner, it's like, it's truly the tale of two Americas, which is a thesis we talk about a lot on the Charlie Kirk Show about how we live in two Americas.

00:43:24.000 Absolutely, the article says.

00:43:25.000 Reopen schools.

00:43:26.000 Five out of five pediatricians would send their kids back to class.

00:43:29.000 Now realize this was actually an NBC news report where Dr. John Torres, an NBC medical contributor, spoke with five pediatricians around the country.

00:43:40.000 Torres says this, the five doctors we spoke to agreed, the benefits of being in the classroom far outweigh the risk to the disease, but the key is to reopen safely, said Torres.

00:43:49.000 He suggested several easy fixes, such as social distancing, keeping desks apart, increasing classroom airflow, and putting gym classes outdoors.

00:43:56.000 As for masks, one doctor said that they're only useful for high schoolers.

00:44:01.000 When Torres asked the doctors if they would let their kids return, here's what they said.

00:44:05.000 Dr. Yvonne Mondonado from California said, quote, I would let my kids go back to school.

00:44:09.000 Dr. Shilpa Patel from New Jersey said, quote, I will.

00:44:12.000 My kids are looking forward to it.

00:44:15.000 Dr. William Raskoff from Vermont said, yes, period, absolutely.

00:44:18.000 Dr. Jennifer Leiter from New York said, absolutely, as much as I can, without hesitation, yes.

00:44:23.000 Dr. Buddy Creech from Tennessee, I have no concern about sending my children to school.

00:44:28.000 So CNN and any person in the country that does not fully support the total opening of America, they are just trying to use our children as proxies and as political weapons to defeat Donald Trump.

00:44:42.000 It is that simple.

00:44:43.000 They are blinded by their singular hatred of the president. 0.95

00:44:48.000 And they probably like the fact that kids are being propagandized by Disney Plus and Hulu and all this BLM ink garbage that is seeping throughout our society. 0.72

00:44:57.000 It is time to open America completely. 0.83

00:44:59.000 Gavin Newsome closing California is anti-science and immoral.

00:45:04.000 Republican governors all across the country in Texas and even Arizona that are closing down their states are doing so out of fear, not out of logic, science, or a direction or a commitment to liberty or freedom.

00:45:17.000 It is time to fully open America.

00:45:19.000 It is time to fully open our schools.

00:45:21.000 It is time for every parent to scream at the top of your lungs, get loud and get angry at your school board.

00:45:30.000 If you're listening to this, you say, Charlie, I don't know what I'm going to do.

00:45:32.000 I don't know what I can do.

00:45:34.000 Well, put down your phone for a sec.

00:45:37.000 And here's a little quiz.

00:45:39.000 Do you know all your school board members by name?

00:45:43.000 If you don't, then get to know them really well.

00:45:46.000 School board members are very accessible.

00:45:49.000 They live in your community.

00:45:51.000 Look up your local school board members and contact every single one of them.

00:45:56.000 And if you say, well, I don't have kids in school.

00:45:58.000 Well, if you pay taxes, you're funding those schools.

00:46:00.000 If you own property anywhere, you're funding those schools.

00:46:03.000 You have a moral prerogative to prevent teen suicide, to prevent child abuse, to get kids to play spring sports again, to get their proms and their commencement in their social circles.

00:46:12.000 You see, those of us that actually had our high school experiences, we are talking from a place of almost, I hate to say this, but like we've had the privilege, and I hate using that word privilege because it's so abused by the left, but we have.

00:46:24.000 We've had the privilege of being able to go to high school.

00:46:28.000 We've had the privilege of being able to grow up around our friends.

00:46:32.000 We are robbing our children of that because of a political hatred of a president.

00:46:37.000 And the left always likes to say, well, the world is laughing at us.

00:46:40.000 The world is laughing at us.

00:46:42.000 The world's actually laughing at us right now.

00:46:45.000 They're laughing at us because we can't get our schools open because we are so divided over whether we like a president or not.

00:46:53.000 They want to destroy the country.

00:46:55.000 And thousands of kids will commit suicide this fall if we do not open our schools.

00:47:02.000 Thousands of kids will be abused if we do not open our schools.

00:47:07.000 Millions of kids will be robbed of generationally impactful, important, and irreplaceable moments if we do not open our schools.

00:47:17.000 It is the moral thing to do.

00:47:19.000 This week, we have a very stacked interview lineup.

00:47:22.000 We have Roger Stone, Senator Ted Cruz, China expert Jordan Chang, Officer Brandon Tatum, Chris Bedford from the Federalist, big tech reporter from the Daily Caller, Peter Hassan, and even some other guests that we're going to try to slide in here and there.
