00:01:29.000 In 1960, there was a presidential election that has been talked about and studied in a variety of different ways.
00:01:35.000 A lot of shenanigans that happened in Chicago, Illinois, with Mayor Daly, a very close election.
00:01:41.000 But what's not talked about is what happened in Hawaii.
00:01:46.000 In the 1960 presidential election, on the night of the election, it showed that Nixon had won by a slight margin.
00:01:55.000 There was a court-ordered recount, and then it shows that John F. Kennedy had won.
00:02:00.000 The result was considered an upset as Nixon had been thought to likely win the state's electoral votes.
00:02:06.000 Now, the significance of this is that by the time the then vice president of the United States, Richard Nixon, who was Dwight D. Eisenhower's vice president, they actually sent two slates of electors when they had to have the electoral count process, which happened on, I don't know if it was January 6, 1961, but it was right around that period of time.
00:02:31.000 And so there is precedent in states that are hotly contested, where there's pending court cases, the potential for recounts for a state to send multiple slates of electors to Congress to have the vice president of the United States then have to make a decision under the 1887 Electoral Count Act.
00:02:55.000 So that election and the subsequent recount are notable, largely because it was the first occurrence of dueling electoral slates in American history.
00:03:07.000 Now, also, this almost occurred in the 2000 United States presidential recount in Florida, where then Congresswoman Patsy Mink suggested the election could serve as a potential precedent to allow then Al Gore.
00:03:23.000 Isn't it interesting how it's the person running for office that sometimes gets mixed into this?
00:03:28.000 Nixon, Gore, and Pence.
00:03:29.000 Anyway, Congresswom Patsy Mink said that Al Gore could challenge the official results beyond the Electoral Counts safe harbor deadline because of how close Florida was.
00:03:44.000 And then, of course, the 2020 election with the questions in Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Nevada, using precedent from the 1960 presidential election and Hawaii in particular, and how a court overturned that from Nixon to Kennedy.
00:04:04.000 The Trump campaign and many of the allies in Trump's orbit said, why don't we send a backup slate of electors in case something gets overturned or new information gets presented forward?
00:04:21.000 Well, you're not allowed to do that anymore.
00:04:24.000 The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now issuing raids and subpoenas to multiple people that were involved or connected to this idea of sending alternate electors in case something else happened for the then vice president during counting the electoral votes to have a backup slate of electors.
00:04:47.000 With us to help unpack this extraordinary overreach of government is Libby Emmons from the post-millennial.
00:04:56.000 Libby, welcome back to the program.
00:04:58.000 Glad to be here.
00:04:58.000 Thanks, Charlie.
00:04:59.000 So what is going on here?
00:05:01.000 What laws were potentially violated?
00:05:03.000 And why is the FBI going after Republican Party operatives and confiscating their cell phones?
00:05:10.000 What's going on here?
00:05:12.000 So these are really good questions.
00:05:15.000 Essentially, what's going on is, as you said, an alternate group of electors were formed so that in the event that the recalls were in Trump's favor, these people would be able to cast their ballots for him.
00:05:32.000 And now these people are being targeted for having undertaken that duty as though they had done something in secret, as though they had lied about it.
00:05:40.000 Meanwhile, they had posted photographs of themselves on Instagram, you know, creating these alternate electoral groups in the event that the legal challenges were successful.
00:05:54.000 There were legal challenges all over the place, and it does seem to make sense for the Republicans in those states to have been prepared for successful legal challenges.
00:06:07.000 So just so everyone understands, the FBI is raiding and subpoenaing people in Arizona, Michigan, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.
00:06:14.000 How many people have they done in the last 48 hours?
00:06:16.000 This is a story that no one's talking about.
00:06:18.000 I mean, the FBI.
00:06:20.000 Yeah, go ahead, Libby.
00:06:21.000 Yeah.
00:06:21.000 No, I saw four definitely that were in the past 24 hours.
00:06:26.000 There were additionally people in Nevada.
00:06:31.000 There was GOP chairman in Nevada, Michael McDonald, as well as GOP Party Secretary James DeGat Graffenreed.
00:06:40.000 There were also subpoenas for Brad Carver in Georgia, Thomas Lane, who had worked on the campaign in Arizona and New Mexico, who was in Virginia when he was served.
00:06:56.000 David Schaefer in Georgia, who was GOP chair, and Sean Flynn of Michigan.
00:07:02.000 It's not entirely clear what activity was related to a federal probe, whether that activity was related to a federal probe or state-level criminal inquiry is what the Washington Post reported.
00:07:15.000 This is all simultaneous, though, right, Libby?
00:07:17.000 This is just the wild happening.
00:07:19.000 So wait, so the committee is meeting on this topic, and then in almost perfect harmony, the FBI is raiding Republicans.
00:07:28.000 How is this not the number one story in the country right now?
00:07:32.000 It's not the number one story in the country because the number one story in the country has to be what the narrative spinners want it to be and they don't want it to be this.
00:07:40.000 We see this over and over again.
00:07:42.000 Fascinating information comes out and it remains substantially underreported.
00:07:48.000 There's also this sort of wall between legacy media outlets on one side and media outlets on the other side.
00:07:55.000 And it takes a few days for the stories to migrate from one political perspective to another.
00:08:03.000 I find it fascinating, like just tracking the news every day, but that's a separate thing.
00:08:08.000 I think in many ways, what this is about is trying to prevent Trump from running again.
00:08:14.000 These people are being accused of conspiring to overturn ballot election results.
00:08:21.000 In no way is that what was going on here.
00:08:23.000 They were alternate electors, as you mentioned, with the Hawaii case, Kennedy Nixon.
00:08:30.000 It's not without precedent.
00:08:31.000 It's rare.
00:08:32.000 It's not without precedent, however.
00:08:35.000 And now we're seeing political operatives, Trump supporters, conservatives being targeted by the FBI, being directly targeted by the Department of Justice, all to bolster this January 6th committee that has the primary goal of discrediting conservative values, potentially, and also to prevent Trump from running again.
00:08:59.000 They know that he's still wildly popular and they don't want him anywhere near Washington.
00:09:04.000 I just want to make sure our audience understands this is the Department of Justice.
00:09:07.000 This is not the committee.
00:09:08.000 Now, they might be connected.
00:09:10.000 They might be working in harmony, but this is the FBI.
00:09:13.000 I want to read from a tweet here, and it echoes what you said, Libby.
00:09:16.000 Las Vegas CBS affiliate.
00:09:18.000 This is from Laura Rosen on Twitter.
00:09:20.000 Quote: FBI agents served a search warrant Wednesday on Nevada's top Republican official.
00:09:26.000 Agents seized the cell phone of state Republican chairman Michael McDonald, reportedly as part of an investigation into the fake elector scheme initiated at the end of the 2020 election.
00:09:39.000 A second search warrant was issued for state party secretary, as you said, James the Graffenreed, who also signed the document.
00:09:46.000 FBI agents could not locate him Wednesday, sources told KLAS.
00:09:52.000 What crime could they potentially have broken here?
00:09:57.000 I don't see that there's a crime they could have done here.
00:10:00.000 I don't think that there's a law they could have broken.
00:10:03.000 I think that what would be alleged is that they were pressured into doing this in order to try and overturn election results.
00:10:10.000 And I just doubt that that's there or even remotely what was going on here.
00:10:17.000 It's shocking to see, honestly.
00:10:19.000 It's amazing.
00:10:23.000 You might be eating healthy, nutritious foods, but if you have any mild digestive issues, you could probably benefit from a high-quality enzyme.
00:10:31.000 I certainly do.
00:10:32.000 If you've ever tried enzymes or even if you tried them, they haven't worked, I want you to give this a chance.
00:10:36.000 Look, I do one cheat day a week.
00:10:39.000 That is gluten-free pizza from a local pizzeria.
00:10:42.000 I love pizza.
00:10:44.000 And I have to tell you, I got to have enzymes alongside of it.
00:10:46.000 And that's why I'm a fan of Buy Optimizers.
00:10:49.000 They're a supplement company where the products actually work.
00:10:51.000 I asked them if we could organize a great deal for all my listeners and they over-delivered.
00:10:56.000 So right now, you get a body of mass zymes for free.
00:10:58.000 All you need to do is pay a small shipping fee and there's no catch.
00:11:01.000 No tricks, no force continuity, nothing to cancel.
00:11:03.000 So look, when I have pizza or if I have something that's a little suspicious, maybe Carneasada with queso, a little guacamole, I have to have enzymes with it.
00:11:11.000 Digestive enzymes, look, they're amazing.
00:11:14.000 And they're so confident in their products that they offer a 365-day money-back guarantee.
00:11:19.000 So I'm positive you'll be satisfied with the results.
00:11:21.000 Mass Zymes is a 17-enzyme full-spectrum formula with five different kinds of Protease.
00:11:27.000 Plus, it contains all the key enzymes needed for optimal digestion.
00:11:30.000 Look, I'm constantly being attacked.
00:11:33.000 I could be stressed every so often, getting better at managing it.
00:11:36.000 You don't want to have to deal with stomach acid.
00:11:38.000 I'm sure a lot of you have stomach acid challenges.
00:11:41.000 So, maybe enzymes, digestive enzymes, are right for you.
00:11:44.000 Look, it contains astrazyme, which is a proprietary, all-natural, plant-derived compound extracted from Panex, ginseng, astragulus that boosts amino acid amino acid absorption by 30 to 60 percent.
00:11:56.000 Mass Zymes ensure that all the protein you consume breaks down into absorbable amino acids.
00:12:01.000 So many people suffer from digestive issues because here's what happens: any protein your body does not break down creates digestive distress, gas bloating, and constipation.
00:12:11.000 Mass Zymes ensures that all the protein you consume breaks down into absorbable amino acids.
00:12:17.000 So, I strongly suggest you head on over to their site and grab your bottle before they either run out or take down this offer.
00:12:23.000 If you're having stomach issues, use digestive enzymes.
00:12:26.000 I use them every so often, and I really appreciate what they do for me.
00:12:30.000 So, go to masszymes.com/slash kirkfree.
00:12:34.000 That's M-A-S-S-Z-Y-M-E-S dot com forward slash kirkfree, all one word.
00:12:42.000 You'll automatically get access to your unique coupon code to claim your free bottle, limit one per household.
00:12:48.000 Offer is valid while supplies last.
00:12:50.000 You're going to love their products.
00:12:51.000 Go right now.
00:12:55.000 I want to read more from this article here from the Washington Post.
00:13:00.000 January 6th probe expands with fresh subpoenas in multiple states.
00:13:06.000 And now we know of at least four people that have been, let's say, contacted by the FBI with their devices confiscated.
00:13:15.000 We don't know if they were raids, but we do know they were issued with subpoenas and that their private communications are now in the hands of the government.
00:13:21.000 Libby Emmons is with us from the Postmillennia Wonderful website.
00:13:24.000 Libby, is there any precedent for this?
00:13:27.000 To use the Federal Bureau of Investigation to go after your political opponents?
00:13:30.000 They already raided James O'Keefe's apartment.
00:13:32.000 They raided Rudy Giuliani's apartment.
00:13:34.000 They arrested Peter Navarro at the airport.
00:13:37.000 What's going on here?
00:13:39.000 There certainly is precedent for this in other countries that are communist dictatorships and banana republics.
00:13:46.000 We've seen that in Russia.
00:13:48.000 We've seen it in China.
00:13:50.000 We've seen it in Hong Kong with the CCP taking over and getting rid of any semblance of democracy whatsoever.
00:13:58.000 We recently saw Zelensky in Ukraine abolish an opposition party that was pro-Russia.
00:14:05.000 That's essentially a political opponent.
00:14:08.000 So, yeah, sure, we see this in Castro and South America.
00:14:12.000 We see this all over the place in countries that do not have democracy.
00:14:16.000 It's not something that we should be seeing in the United States.
00:14:21.000 I don't know what these people could possibly be accused of other than these vague things like insurrection and they were really only upholding their civic duty.
00:14:32.000 Yeah, I mean, but this is so scary.
00:14:34.000 Again, I want to just say this again.
00:14:35.000 What laws have been violated?
00:14:37.000 What is the reason that the FBI would be able to go to a political party operative and say, give me your cell phone?
00:14:45.000 It's pure intimidation.
00:14:47.000 This is so beyond anything that we should tolerate or we should accept.
00:14:53.000 I want to read this piece from the New York Times.
00:14:56.000 And again, this happened in harmony as Brad Roffensperger, Boers from Arizona, and Gabe Sterling all testified in front of the January 6th Committee.
00:15:08.000 And this is all happening simultaneously.
00:15:12.000 And so I suppose the question is, Libby, where do you think this goes next?
00:15:16.000 And I would imagine it goes even deeper than just these four raids.
00:15:22.000 Is this going to intensify?
00:15:25.000 I think it may intensify.
00:15:27.000 I think that the public deserves to know what the search warrant is asking for.
00:15:32.000 Of course, you can't have just a vague search warrant.
00:15:36.000 There has to be things that you are specifically requesting.
00:15:39.000 And you can't be searching in a file cabinet if you're looking for a stolen refrigerator.
00:15:44.000 It's just against the rules.
00:15:46.000 So I think it would behoove us to ask what is being asked for on these warrants, what is being searched for, and what the, you know, what the reasoning is behind this.
00:15:56.000 You know, what's the probable cause here?
00:15:58.000 What's this all about?
00:16:00.000 It's sort of crazy to just watch it happen.
00:16:03.000 And I think it also is very clear that the Biden administration, Merritt Garland, who I think still has a chip on his shoulder from when he couldn't get on the Supreme Court.
00:16:13.000 And he's in Ukraine recently.
00:16:14.000 Just so everyone knows.
00:16:15.000 Barrett Garland is a very important person.
00:16:16.000 Where is the Attorney General in Ukraine?
00:16:18.000 Just kind of an interesting side note.
00:16:20.000 Maybe his, does he have a son who needs a job?
00:16:22.000 No, exactly.
00:16:23.000 It's really possible.
00:16:26.000 I hear that's what DC does.
00:16:27.000 He must have a actually, he does have a son-in-law that makes a bunch of money off critical race theory curriculum.
00:16:32.000 Oh, that's right.
00:16:32.000 That's right.
00:16:33.000 He sure does.
00:16:34.000 Yeah.
00:16:34.000 So, but I think that we really need to expose this and we need to demand answers as to what's going on and to why these people are being investigated.
00:16:43.000 And also, you know, I think that the Democratic left needs to stop being so terrified of Donald Trump.
00:16:50.000 They hate his demeanor.
00:16:51.000 They hate his personality.
00:16:53.000 They never address anything about his policies or actual actions.
00:16:57.000 They only talk about how much they don't like him.
00:17:00.000 Well, you could hate Donald Trump.
00:17:02.000 Personality contests.
00:17:03.000 Yeah, like whatever if you hate Donald Trump.
00:17:05.000 But using the force of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
00:17:08.000 And by the way, let's not forget, they also deployed the FBI to go get Joe Biden's daughter's diary.
00:17:17.000 There's something going on here at the FBI that is beyond government overreach.
00:17:20.000 And every Republican, every grassroots voter and patriot watching right now, we got to keep the pressure on.
00:17:27.000 This is not acceptable.
00:17:29.000 Steve Bannon is facing trial.
00:17:31.000 Navarro is in leg irons.
00:17:33.000 Libby, final thoughts.
00:17:34.000 I think that we really need to not have a nation that goes after political opponents in order to expedite their, you know, expedite their aims.
00:17:45.000 This has nothing to do with the rule of law.
00:17:48.000 This has only to do with intimidating voters and intimidating people that would support the opposition.
00:17:54.000 It's unbelievable.
00:17:54.000 Simone Gold had 20 FBI agents hauling her off to jail for two months.
00:17:58.000 Navarro and Bannon, and we already saw what happened to Stone and Manafort and Flynn.
00:18:03.000 This is not acceptable, everybody.
00:18:05.000 This is not a way a civilized country runs our business.
00:18:08.000 It's not sustainable either.
00:18:10.000 It's very dangerous.
00:18:12.000 Okay, Libby, thank you so much.
00:18:13.000 Post-millennial, check it out.
00:18:14.000 Thanks, Lat.
00:18:15.000 The Feds search home of Jeffrey Clark.
00:18:18.000 The raids continue.
00:18:20.000 Former DOJ official who pushed CNN, Trump's false election claims.
00:18:24.000 I'm just amazed.
00:18:26.000 We are one of the few programs covering this.
00:18:28.000 I have a feeling that Tucker Carlson is going to cover this tonight and many other great patriots.
00:18:33.000 But so far, as this is unveiled, this is like the night of the long knives.
00:18:38.000 It's happening simultaneously while the committee is meeting.
00:18:42.000 We're supposed to be the Department of Justice said, oh, yeah, by the way, let's go raid Jeffrey Clark and the head of Trump's campaign in Nevada.
00:18:48.000 I mean, this is criminalizing a legal challenge.
00:18:53.000 It's an extraordinary abuse of power that we are seeing.
00:18:57.000 And I just want everyone watching right now in Real America's Voice, you got to get locked into this story.
00:19:02.000 This is orchestrated authoritarianism.
00:19:04.000 This is the biggest story happening in America right now outside of the Supreme Court.
00:19:08.000 And you got to demand your lawmakers start talking about it.
00:19:11.000 You got to demand your media members that have shows and programs that you watch.
00:19:16.000 Why are they not talking about the fact that DOJ is just going in every corner of the country in Raiden Holmes right now?
00:19:24.000 It's unbelievable.
00:19:25.000 Email me, freedom at charliekirk.com.
00:19:28.000 That's freedom at charliekirk.com.
00:19:30.000 There's something happening here.
00:19:31.000 We can't ignore it.
00:19:35.000 All right, everybody, there's no easy way to talk about this topic, but there are people, and myself included, that sometimes you got to get rid of some unwanted hair.
00:19:43.000 I want to tell you about Manscaped.
00:19:45.000 Manscaped has everything you need to remove unwanted hair and prepare for the summer, maybe at the pool or the beach.
00:19:51.000 You'll find their lawnmower 4.0 trimmer, the weed whacker ear and nose hair trimmer, deodorant and toner with soothing aloe vera formula to help keep you in tip-top shape.
00:20:03.000 Even on a very hot Phoenix day, it was 125 degrees.

00:21:00.000 With us right now is Steve Cortez.
00:21:02.000 He's phenomenal and he knows what's going on in the economy better than almost anybody else.
00:21:08.000 But I want to start asking Steve about his thoughts on these raids happening of Trump allies and officials across the country.
00:21:15.000 Steve, welcome back to the program.
00:21:17.000 I don't know.
00:21:17.000 Maybe you saw the story.
00:21:18.000 Maybe you're not too up to speed on it, but just more generally, what we're seeing is the FBI is now going after Trump allies in Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania in a coordinated, multi-dimensional subpoena and raid strategy.
00:21:34.000 What are your thoughts?
00:21:35.000 Well, my thoughts are that unfortunately, this is yet another example and a pretty terrible one of our country devolving into a reality with our two systems of justice.
00:21:45.000 And let me be specific what I mean about that.
00:21:47.000 There is a weaponized system of justice, and I use that word really in quotes in this context, system of federal law enforcement that is all about targeting political opponents, all about weaponizing the apparatuses of the national security state and federal law enforcement against MAGA conservatives.
00:22:03.000 And then there's the other system of justice for everybody else.
00:22:07.000 And that is the unfortunate reality right now.
00:22:10.000 And to be specific again, too, federal law enforcement, think of how ineffective and perhaps even feckless federal law enforcement was in stopping the massive riots of 2020, the BLM-inspired riots that absolutely tore American society apart, that burned blocks of cities to the ground, that killed hundreds of people, perhaps even thousands, if you really do a true accounting of what went on.
00:22:34.000 And really how little federal law enforcement got involved, even in that kind of carnage across America.
00:22:39.000 And then contrast that with this effort to harass and intimidate, and in some cases, actually prosecute people for participating in partisan politics in the United States.
00:22:49.000 So it's reprehensible.
00:22:50.000 It has to stop.
00:22:51.000 And I'm an advocate that whoever is the next president, I hope it's Donald Trump, but whoever the next American first president is that's elected in 2024 really needs to get about the business of cleaning out the entire DOJ, not just the political appointees, obviously, but including even the civil servants, because many of them effectively act as the administrative state's partisan hacks on behalf of the permanent political class, and they wield far too much power in our society.
00:23:17.000 I mean, you have Bannon, you have Navarro, you have these raids happening.
00:23:21.000 They went after O'Keefe, they went after the diary, they went after Giuliani.
00:23:25.000 This is not normal.
00:23:26.000 We shouldn't put up with it.
00:23:27.000 Okay, so Steve, tell us there's some economic news that is out today.
00:23:30.000 It's not too good.
00:23:31.000 What is it?
00:23:32.000 What is it talking about?
00:23:32.000 Right.
00:23:33.000 Unfortunately, and yeah, and Charlie, I can't remember the last time I had good economic news to tell anybody about it.
00:23:37.000 And I don't mean to laugh.
00:23:38.000 We'll have a different president.
00:23:39.000 Yeah, we're right because people are suffering out there.
00:23:42.000 And I realize that.
00:23:43.000 But sometimes if you couldn't laugh, you cry.
00:23:46.000 And unfortunately, there's ample reason for a lot of Americans to cry when it comes to their own pocketbooks into the economy.
00:23:51.000 And we got yet more data out just today.
00:23:53.000 The latest, the PMI, the Purchasing Managers Index.
00:23:56.000 And what I really find valuable about PMI numbers in particular is that number one, they're done globally and they're done in largely the same way.
00:24:03.000 And they're done by private sector sources.
00:24:05.000 So it's not government data.
00:24:06.000 So even in China, if you look at PMIs, you tend to get pretty valid, pretty accurate reads.
00:24:12.000 The second thing I like about PMI purchasing managers index, that means the people who are purchasing for a company, in this case today was the manufacturing PMI.
00:24:19.000 So the people who are responsible for purchasing the goods that are needed for a production company to engage in manufacturing.
00:24:25.000 That means it's quite forward-looking.
00:24:27.000 It tells you if they're buying stuff to turn it into more valuable stuff, that's a great forward-looking indicator of where the economy is headed.
00:24:34.000 And unfortunately, today's numbers were abysmal.
00:24:37.000 They came in at only 52.
00:24:38.000 The expectations for manufacturing PMI were supposed to be 56.
00:24:42.000 And let me read for you, Charlie, because I think this is fascinating.
00:24:45.000 You know, the word is getting out even among the corporate media about just how bad the economy is.
00:24:50.000 Here's what Reuters said, believe it or not, about their reporting.
00:24:53.000 And Reuters normally carries water for the Biden administration, does the bidding of the entire Davos crowd.
00:24:58.000 So Reuters is not a friendly platform to us by any stretch.
00:25:01.000 But here's what they said about this report this morning.
00:25:03.000 Manufacturing growth is slowing worldwide while the growing risk of a U.S. recession poses a new threat to the global economy.
00:25:12.000 So the U.S. has not only stopped being the leader for the global economy, but according to Reuters, the U.S., given this PMI data today, we're now actually a threat to the global economy.
00:25:22.000 We are a laggard.
00:25:23.000 We are a weight upon the global economy.
00:25:26.000 And it's because of Joe Biden, along with collaborator Republicans on Capitol Hill, but because of the disastrous economic policies that they have instituted, which has sent the American economy, unfortunately, careening into a ditch.
00:25:38.000 Yeah, I mean, I talk to people that are pretty high levels of private equity in Wall Street.
00:25:43.000 I know you do too.
00:25:44.000 And the words they're using are apocalyptic.
00:25:48.000 They're saying, you know, never before seen economic crash.
00:25:53.000 I don't know if it's going to happen as quickly as 08 or 1929, but I think it could be as severe.
00:26:00.000 I think it might be a slow-motion car crash.
00:26:03.000 Do you believe that is inevitable, Steve?
00:26:05.000 Or do you think there's a way we can stop it by talking about it and maybe going through six months of a pretty bad recession?
00:26:12.000 Or do you think that we're headed, we're careening towards something that none of us have lived through in our lifetime?
00:26:18.000 Well, I think at least a very deep recession, unfortunately, is inevitable.
00:26:21.000 I think we're already within a recession.
00:26:23.000 It's really a matter of the extent of how deep it goes and to put some data behind that and to put some data behind what you're hearing from folks who are giving you really sort of apocalyptic prognostications.
00:26:34.000 The University of Michigan conducts a survey of consumer sentiment.
00:26:38.000 It's really the gold standard of consumer confidence.
00:26:40.000 That survey goes all the way back to the 1950s.
00:26:43.000 Well, we just hit an all-time low, all-time.
00:26:46.000 So, I mean, think of all the tumults that the United States has been through over the last seven decades: the Vietnam War, you know, more recently, the CCP virus, the housing crisis, the dot-com bubble bursting, all of that.
00:26:57.000 Confidence never got as low as it is right now in the United States under Joe Biden.
00:27:02.000 So, if you combine that, you know, I mentioned that the manufacturing side, if you combine the industrial side and that pronounced weakness, if you combine that with absolutely literally record low, all-time low consumer confidence, that tells me that, yes, we are absolutely already in a recession.
00:27:18.000 It hasn't been officially sort of marked yet.
00:27:20.000 That comes after the fact, but we're in a recession.
00:27:22.000 It's extent of how deep.
00:27:24.000 Now, I want to make sure people are properly warned, but I also don't want to over, you know, to induce any unnecessary paranoia.
00:27:32.000 So here's what I would say: things are bad.
00:27:34.000 Things are going to get worse.
00:27:35.000 However, if we elect the right Congress in these upcoming primaries, which are over the coming weeks, and then certainly this fall, if we elect the right Congress, then we can start to stop the bleeding at the beginning of next year in January of 2023.
00:27:49.000 How?
00:27:49.000 By stopping the exorbitant borrowing and spending.
00:27:52.000 But when I say the right Congress, Charlie, I don't just mean Republicans, because unfortunately, there are plenty of Republicans who have completely been collaborators in this economic disaster.
00:28:01.000 And I would particularly point to those who voted in favor of this ridiculous mountain of money for Ukraine to escalate a conflict in which the U.S. has no definable national security interest and a conflict which is massively exacerbating what was already an inflation crisis well before that conflict started, but it's exacerbating it.
00:28:20.000 Plenty of Republicans, unfortunately, went along.
00:28:23.000 I think it was only 50-something in the House that voted against, in my opinion, every single Republican who faces a primary, who voted in favor of that package, or if they're not in office yet, was in support of that package.
00:28:34.000 They need to be ousted because they are to blame.
00:28:37.000 Biden is mostly to blame, but they are partly to blame for this inflation surge in this country, this inflation explosion that is so painful for so many Americans.
00:28:46.000 I totally agree.
00:28:48.000 A American president who is a leader would have said, okay, you want Eastern Ukraine, Vladimir Putin.
00:28:54.000 You don't move an inch.
00:28:55.000 We'll host elections.
00:28:57.000 We'll see what Eastern Ukraine wants.
00:28:59.000 Don't fire a missile or a bullet.
00:29:01.000 And then you tell Zelensky, listen, Zelensky, we basically finance your whole regime.
00:29:06.000 If you have to give away Eastern Ukraine, then so be it.
00:29:10.000 It would have avoided all of this catastrophic.
00:29:11.000 Instead, we're funding this proxy war that is actually getting more people killed, that is putting us into a conflict even deeper.
00:29:19.000 And then they say, well, you know, inflation is because of Vladimir Putin invading Ukraine, which, of course, we don't support.
00:29:25.000 It's awful.
00:29:25.000 It's terrible.
00:29:26.000 Everyone, every rational person believes that.
00:29:30.000 However, we know it's not because of the war in Ukraine.
00:29:32.000 But even if it was, then why are you trying to make the war in Ukraine last longer?
00:29:35.000 Well, exactly.
00:29:36.000 Exactly.
00:29:37.000 Then negotiation and peace seeking would be all the more the imperative, right?
00:29:42.000 I mean, that is the reality.
00:29:43.000 And to put that in context, too, because I think sometimes for regular folks, particularly if they're not in the economics world, when they hear billions and trillions, their eyes roll, which is understandable.
00:29:52.000 To put that in context, $40 billion.
00:29:54.000 And by the way, that's only for a few months.
00:29:56.000 And we've already spent about 15 before that.
00:29:58.000 But $40 billion, to put that in context, that is roughly the budget of the state of Illinois.
00:30:02.000 So think about that.
00:30:03.000 A very major state in the center of this country, the state that you and I used to call home.
00:30:07.000 Illinois, all the things they do, healthcare, schools, prisons, roads, courts, all of that, is about $40 billion.
00:30:14.000 And that's over the course of a year, Charlie.
00:30:16.000 That's what we are spending in Ukraine.
00:30:18.000 Now, you know, again, I think that it's a totally inexcusable expense because I don't think there's a vital U.S. national security.
00:30:24.000 We don't have the money either.
00:30:26.000 But on top of that, we're borrowing the money.
00:30:27.000 Thank you.
00:30:28.000 Further driving up interest rates, further driving up inflation.
00:30:31.000 And let me put this in tangible terms.
00:30:33.000 For the first time in U.S. history, the average apartment rent in America is now over $2,000 a month.
00:30:39.000 Now, if real wages were galloping higher, we might say, hey, fine, people are making way more.
00:30:43.000 They can afford $2,000 a month.
00:30:45.000 But real wages, meaning wages adjusted for inflation, are crashing.
00:30:49.000 And yet apartment rents are soaring.
00:30:51.000 And I would, by the way, say, apartment rents have 0.0 to do with Vladimir Putin.
00:30:56.000 Okay.
00:30:56.000 Putin is not involved in the American property market.
00:30:59.000 The crisis in Ukraine has no bearing here.
00:31:01.000 But yet we see rents soaring to all-time highs.
00:31:04.000 A lot of Americans simply cannot afford a tooth.
00:31:07.000 And that's average.
00:31:08.000 Okay.
00:31:09.000 We're not talking about palaces.
00:31:10.000 We're not talking about rentals for a manor, for an average apartment in the United States.
00:31:14.000 They simply cannot afford that given where prices are exploding everywhere else in their life, gasoline, food, you name it.
00:31:21.000 And when you put all this together, it results, though, also, I think, in political opportunity, Charlie.
00:31:26.000 So as bad as the situation is, and it's terrible, if the America First Movement can present a credible, actionable plan to get back to the kind of economy that we had in 2018 and 2019 before the CCP virus, if we can persuade the American people that we have those answers, and we do, then we sweep these elections and we can start to save this country starting next year.
00:31:48.000 Steve, tell us about Peter Meyer.
00:31:51.000 Yes.
00:31:52.000 Well, one of my least favorite people in the United States Congress.
00:31:55.000 Thankfully, he's facing an incredibly credible and Trump endorsed opponent in John Gibbs in the primary.
00:32:02.000 Peter Meyer represents the third district of Michigan, which is West Michigan.
00:32:06.000 He is the CN of the Meyer family.
00:32:08.000 He's extremely wealthy by luck of birth.
00:32:12.000 He voted for the impeachment.
00:32:13.000 He's a Republican in name, and he voted for the impeachment of Donald Trump.
00:32:17.000 I just put up an article about him that is more focused on the economy.
00:32:20.000 I mentioned the previous segment, the economic collaborators, the Republicans who have gone along with the inflationary madness of Biden and Pelosi, Exhibit A would be Peter Meyer because he voted for both the Ukraine package that we just talked about, the $40 billion boondoggle, which is basically a no strings attached giveaway to escalate a crisis in which we have no discernible national security interest.
00:32:44.000 But in addition to that, earlier than that, Peter Meyer voted for the $1.5 trillion omnibus.
00:32:50.000 Now, thankfully, the majority of Republicans, even though they knew it was going to pass, they showed the good sense and the principles to vote against the omnibus package.
00:32:58.000 Peter Meyer did not show that good sense.
00:33:00.000 So he personally has enabled, he personally is complicit along with Biden, along with his entire administration in enabling and inducing this massive inflation.
00:33:10.000 So if you're suffering right now because of these gas prices, and so many Americans are, every American of modest means is really suffering right now because of these gasoline prices.
00:33:19.000 If you can't afford the renewal on your lease for your apartment because it is so expensive, think about Peter Meyer.
00:33:26.000 And if you live in the third district, if you live in West Michigan, the Grand Rapids area, kick him out.
00:33:31.000 Yeah, that Peter Meyer, he wants to put the priorities of MSNBC over Muskegon in his district.
00:33:38.000 He wants to care more about the Black Sea war than he does about Battle Creek, which is in his district.
00:33:44.000 And thankfully, as I said, he has a very credible challenger.
00:33:48.000 John Gibbs is a fantastic man.
00:33:50.000 He served in the Trump administration.
00:33:52.000 He earned the endorsement of President Trump.
00:33:54.000 He's a really promising young black conservative.
00:33:58.000 He graduated from both Harvard and Stanford.
00:34:00.000 He was a missionary, a Christian missionary in Japan.
00:34:02.000 He's fluent in Japanese.
00:34:04.000 He's an incredibly impressive young man in many, many ways, and he fully embraces the America First agenda.
00:34:10.000 So if you live there, I encourage you to vote for him.
00:34:12.000 And wherever you live, I encourage you to consider supporting him because we need to punt all of those pro-impeachment Republicans.
00:34:18.000 We've already gotten rid of several, but the job's not done.
00:34:21.000 And Peter Meyer is one of them who has to go, somebody who, again, is directly responsible for this inflation.
00:34:28.000 We can't let people like him and Mitch McConnell escape the blame.
00:34:31.000 It's primarily Biden's.
00:34:32.000 Absolutely.
00:34:33.000 He has majority ownership, but there are minority ownership stakes over this inflation, and some of it belongs to Peter Meyer.
00:34:38.000 It's good folks out there in Western Michigan, a lot of good Dutch folks and a lot of Chicagoans that summer there, as you well know.
00:34:46.000 I tell you that Peter Meyer does not represent the values of Western Michigan at all.
00:34:50.000 They're strong, conservative, pro-American people from Holland to Grand Rapids, and they shouldn't put up with it.
00:34:57.000 Peter Meyer's got to go.
00:34:59.000 And he's well connected, though.
00:35:00.000 He's well connected in the ruling class of Western Michigan.
00:35:03.000 No, he has a lot of money, a lot of name ID, right?
00:35:06.000 So it won't be easy.
00:35:07.000 But so far, John Gibbs looks good in the polling.
00:35:09.000 And this is one of those races that I think we really have to win.
00:35:12.000 I agree.
00:35:12.000 Steve, thank you so much.
00:35:13.000 Deeply appreciate it.
00:35:14.000 Thank you.
00:35:14.000 Thank you.
00:35:15.000 You bet.
00:35:16.000 Thank you so much for listening, everybody.
00:35:17.000 Email me your thoughts as always, freedom at charliekirk.com.
00:35:20.000 Thanks so much for listening.
