The Comment Section with Drew Afualo - DIFFERENT ENERGY Ft. Sabrina Brier ｜ Episode 155

00:00:00.000 i was just so afraid of being made fun of until finally you being troy bolton like no literally

00:00:05.320 he's like oh i'm gonna sing with her so bad but what if my teammates find out

00:00:12.340 i was like what if what if coach finds out

00:00:16.200 you know like i'm supposed to be a ball

00:00:19.880 hey everyone and welcome back to another episode of the comment section show starring me your fave

00:00:31.400 everybody knows me who cares about me on to the guests today we have the iconic the hilarious

00:00:36.740 the unbelievably talented sabrina bryer

00:00:39.640 i'm so pumped to be here i'm so happy to have you girl i'm so excited i'm like we're destined to me

00:00:47.980 we really were we were and we made it happen and we absolutely i was actually um i'm gonna be honest

00:00:55.260 i didn't fully understand just because of not absorbing information properly that we were

00:01:00.060 going to be in person today and when i saw like not that i wasn't already so mad at myself for

00:01:04.500 missing caleb's birthday but when i saw a picture of you there i was like gonna i was gonna do something

00:01:08.920 bad to myself i said i was gonna harm myself i was gonna harm i was gonna harm i was gonna age yeah

00:01:15.680 that is yeah because you are living in new york no literally and i'm not no and you made it and i

00:01:22.340 i literally like i texted i i did because i was just like i i'm in it right now with work and i

00:01:28.480 you know when your body is like your mind is like and i'm there and your heart's like and i'm there

00:01:32.100 and your body was like i'm gonna kill you yeah and that's where i was at and also it's like the 0.94

00:01:36.660 caleb's party started at 10 o'clock and that and we're old now and let's talk about let's talk about 0.95

00:01:41.720 30 where because let's let's talk about a 30 year old's party to me starts at six and ends around

00:01:47.000 11 and we're home i'm i'm home by 8 30. eating snacks and you're right pjs now am i a hypocrite

00:01:53.460 because my 30th birthday started at 10 yes but that's i'm a hypocrite caleb and so i literally

00:02:00.220 text him and i'm like i what i was like i'm so sorry like but i also knew when i said it in the text

00:02:05.680 i'm like i know you you don't care it's like i'm the one who should be sorry like i'm the one missing

00:02:09.760 yeah yeah you should feel sad for me i you know what i mean and i knew that and also i literally

00:02:14.560 like sent him this picture of like i had like wings and a and i had a like a wand from amazon

00:02:22.440 and it was all in the package yeah and i sent it to him i was like i want you to know i'm not lying

00:02:26.700 like i was prepared like i did my homework had your costume and everything and then i thought i was

00:02:32.960 gonna be a fairy cute like a pink one love that i mean i was caleb and then i okay then i also saw

00:02:40.300 that and i went well honestly thank god i wasn't did show up as a freaking fairy because your costume 0.61

00:02:45.260 was so good thank you everyone's like people were really like they really went all out like i was 0.91

00:02:50.500 honestly i don't know why i'm shocked it's a gay person's party of course they're gonna show out 0.86

00:02:54.200 you're in williamsburg in costume right literally obviously i'm in brooklyn i know everyone's gonna show

00:02:58.760 i just like i we were yeah tell me about the party we were trying to figure out what we were

00:03:03.760 gonna be because like me my fiancee my sister and my cousin all went and so i was like i was thinking

00:03:09.080 about being caleb and then we were like oh let's all just be caleb so we all just looked up pictures

00:03:14.440 of caleb and i was caleb as palmer right in the movie sweethearts from hbo max but i was palmer

00:03:21.560 specifically working at disneyland paris oh that's so clever i looked at it quick so i didn't see that

00:03:27.680 part and okay so it was even more genius than i thought it was caleb as palmer in hbo max's

00:03:32.760 and was everyone else a different caleb a different caleb so like my fiancee was young caleb like caleb

00:03:38.840 posted a picture of himself in like jorts and like a cutoff nike shirt going like his first day of

00:03:44.580 second grade he looked 24 in the picture but he's like his first day of second grade yeah absolutely he

00:03:50.360 was the principal of that school clearly yes yes and um my sister and my cousin were both caleb just

00:03:56.460 like these pictures of him i think he uses for breasts like oh that's just like headshot

00:04:00.720 right yeah i know the one you were talking about does he have glasses on and he's like

00:04:05.060 yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah they were both him and his headshot that's incredible i know we loved it did

00:04:10.680 anyone else do that or people were no i saw someone was andy reed which is the head coach of the chiefs

00:04:16.920 okay so it's the magic we're staying well that was the best one in my opinion because he had like

00:04:20.960 a headset and everything and the big old mustache like so all out yeah like and i know caleb is a

00:04:26.680 diehard chiefs fan so yeah i think i think my friend rachel went as like an m&m so we really i

00:04:32.200 think it was that again sorry rachel that's not what you were but she's like serena you're

00:04:36.960 misrepresenting me but it ran the gamut and it was right i saw the and he was a dancing lobster

00:04:41.860 yeah no he was a medieval jester like and i'm serious serious that's what he was i'm like so

00:04:49.880 not a dancing lobster from the amanda show a dancing lobster of sorts of sorts especially in

00:04:55.600 the clip of everyone surrounding him i was like he's a dancing lobster when we were dancing i was like

00:05:00.160 it feels like we're on the set of like a teenage rom-com like we were in the kissing room when it's

00:05:05.960 like a fake party yes yes a big party a big space yeah and everyone's like dancing and then there's

00:05:11.180 no music playing in the movie when they're shooting a movie yeah that's what i felt like

00:05:15.180 because because it that is so wholesome right i know because that that is what you get when you have

00:05:19.980 a party of people actually are like actually they're knowing each other and like loving each

00:05:24.360 other but because if it's more than that and it's too club-like like that's not real life

00:05:28.760 no it's not his party would never be like no never it would never be random that's why it felt

00:05:32.760 like such a like like it felt like when you dance with your arms up yeah your eyes closed that's

00:05:38.000 how it's like it's like live laugh it's like it's like dance like no one's watching that was kind of

00:05:41.660 the real live laugh love exactly that's how it felt it was really fun though oh i'm so well i'm so glad

00:05:46.380 you had fun um i will be at the 31st yes i will be at the 31st and but you were really busy because

00:05:53.740 you got a lot going on i have a lot going on tell us what's going on so so i have my um including

00:05:59.580 today which is a really special moment for me because i'm a huge fan of drew's and i was really

00:06:03.680 likewise um things like this you know talking about my little audiobook vibes and it comes out

00:06:12.280 well tomorrow but that will not be tomorrow when you guys see this so ignore that it's probably out

00:06:17.820 now go check it out but basically i have um what's called you know an audio original full cast

00:06:23.980 audiobook where i wrote the thing and there's a lot of people performing in it and it's kind of

00:06:29.800 like a tv show in your ears i love that through each episode and you're really getting all aspects

00:06:36.000 of a story except the visuals and and it's out tomorrow and and tomorrow it's no longer mine

00:06:42.400 it's the world see what i mean it belongs to the world belongs to the world totally i'm so excited

00:06:48.460 for you congratulations i really appreciate it how did that come about like what was the

00:06:52.960 totally i come from a more like long form space i was an assistant in entertainment and a writer's

00:07:00.580 assistant in a room and i always knew i wanted to take the character to television and and you know

00:07:06.860 bring bring the stories into you know longer form spaces and this uh fell in my lap a bit where

00:07:14.840 not this past summer summer before that i my editor reached out with this really lovely letter

00:07:20.220 um and she was like do you know about audio originals like yeah this could be a vibe and i was

00:07:27.160 like absolutely it's just i don't want it to be my voice for four hours because god help us if that's

00:07:33.960 what it were i want to have a cast of i wanted to feel like a tv show which is really like where my

00:07:39.040 heart is i love that yeah and so then you know pretty quickly after that it was you know getting

00:07:45.280 started and a very long writing process and then eventually you know production and casting last

00:07:51.300 this past summer yeah and yeah i just feel really lucky it's just it's really crazy to have such like

00:07:57.760 a long form project and then it's out in the world i know you have like with your book you know it's just

00:08:03.280 it's kind of like kind of crazy i mean obviously it's an audio original but it's like when you read like

00:08:07.320 when you read books you don't have pictures you're just like imagining what it totally but now it's

00:08:11.060 even more immersive because you have a whole cast and everything and i think it's kind of cool i feel

00:08:16.160 like podcasts i don't know maybe this is just my limited perspective as as like i don't i don't know

00:08:21.500 everything about media and i feel like in a way being online just in the past few years is when i

00:08:26.800 started learning like i just i wasn't a tumblr girl which i'm really embarrassed about like you know

00:08:30.860 what i mean like i wasn't like tweeting when i was little like i just hadn't tapped in right but i guess

00:08:36.300 from my perspective i do feel like podcasts are just like the biggest ever now like yeah they

00:08:41.400 ever have been okay yeah that's i trust your opinion yeah like and i and i think it's so

00:08:45.480 interesting especially in the context obviously of you know being online in general and tiktok and

00:08:51.080 all these things and how cool it is that there are all these kind of spaces of community for podcasts

00:08:57.240 and so it's exciting for me to be able to have my own space that is very different because it's

00:09:01.460 fictional right that's just kind of like what i do it's like my version of it yeah i mean yeah and

00:09:06.880 it's and i also have been getting more into audiobook listening myself i'm listening in throne of glass

00:09:12.280 right now okay t okay t i stopped i stopped reading throne of glass were you just not it's only because

00:09:18.640 it was like can i be real were you feeling it's too ya for me yeah young adult it is no smut i'm cool

00:09:26.640 like i don't need smut every page we gotta spice it up yeah you need to spice it but if you pan to 0.96

00:09:31.200 the fireplace one more time i swear to fucking god when they did it right they edged me twice and i 0.96

00:09:35.560 said i'm closing this book for now i will come back to you it's like why did you stop reading 0.97

00:09:40.120 throne of glass you i was edging yeah well i was being edged and i felt uncomfortable about it all

00:09:45.160 right i didn't consent yeah i think it's not for the real deal okay i was grown up totally i was

00:09:51.020 literally you're like i actually am mature a mature reader i loved the story like i'm i'm balls deep

00:09:57.120 in the story i will go back to it you'll go back to it but also if you kind of do it i'm assuming

00:10:02.720 maybe you did it right after akatar maybe or soon after uh yeah soon after yeah it creates a little

00:10:08.240 bit of uh um you're kind of comparing it to the smuttiness of that and that's what my friend told

00:10:12.700 me and the fast-pacedness of it too because i i feel like akatar is more like um uh boom boom boom

00:10:19.300 yeah it moves quicker this is like okay we're gonna really slow burn you and then we're gonna

00:10:23.560 freak you out yeah yeah but everyone keeps telling me just keep going it's going crazy you're like

00:10:28.680 girl i don't have time to keep going i was like girl and i'm unsatisfied if no one's taking their

00:10:32.780 pants off i'm out you're like i can't do it i'm sorry i'm sorry sorry i get it the world is awesome

00:10:38.560 i get it yeah yeah you're like okay like the motifs and the things i don't care

00:10:42.860 i do love a fantasy romance romanticy whatever i love them totally they're so fun no i'm so i'm

00:10:51.660 just so into like how much i feel right now like i'm back reading a twilight right that's how i feel

00:10:59.260 too that's why i'm feeling this right i was like i feel so excited like i've never been excited to

00:11:04.120 read books right i was a kid like fiction and it's like sorry if that makes me dumb guys but i don't

00:11:10.800 care i don't give a shit if you think about that i don't care i don't care i care so much but um 0.96

00:11:17.120 because i don't know i just like i have the over when you're like a kid reading hunger games or 0.80

00:11:21.400 you know i don't know twilight was a great one you're right any of those books the click which

00:11:27.400 also ruined my the way i treated people probably but um as like a really messed up seventh grader

00:11:34.440 but um and yeah i just love how it takes you back to that totally i agree with you right and

00:11:40.740 you like talk to your friends and you're full-fledged adults and you're talking about like

00:11:43.900 so what do you think we have a book club yeah we have a book club we text about them all the time

00:11:49.940 that's so yeah i have i love my kindle down uh me and my kindle against the world you know what

00:11:54.940 are you so have you moved on to other fan romanticy or yeah yeah i just read quicksilver

00:12:01.520 okay okay okay i need love that one start to venture yeah tap in love that i'll tap in i

00:12:07.160 started reading another series what is it called from blood and ash okay i'm just i'm reading a

00:12:12.460 bunch of romance fantasy like you're kind of trying out to the different authors yeah these different

00:12:16.800 like fairy fucking books i love fairies and you know i'm just i'm perusing that's the thing you 0.94

00:12:21.260 know and i started venturing for like my own things i'll tell you after but i'm like doing other 0.98

00:12:26.320 things so i'm yeah yeah i consider this research oh absolutely i'm downloading and it's even more

00:12:30.840 serious exactly even more serious i'm like i know like i'm gonna be honest like in all of these

00:12:38.120 like with the spot if i like answer your questions about being a reader i'm like i'm sorry i'm reading

00:12:42.740 sarah j mass okay i'm sorry i'm sorry you guys don't want to hear what i'm reading you you don't

00:12:47.660 want to hear about it it's embarrassing like i'm sorry like i was an english major at smith college i

00:12:52.920 didn't finish some of those books i'm sorry and i am reading sarah j mass hey i've read i've read

00:12:58.100 animal farm all right i read you know you did it i read 1984 i read it i read that i read that and

00:13:05.020 that's it and big brother i've read all that shit all right now's my time you know what sometimes you 0.89

00:13:10.760 just want to enjoy yourself exactly your time but really though it's like let's actually read 0.88

00:13:15.440 something not for the sake of telling people we're reading it let's read something people at

00:13:21.040 right i know you know what's funny is what i love the most about it now especially doing this

00:13:25.920 yeah that it's like it gets me off my phone so i never look at my phone i'm not watching tv i'm

00:13:31.060 literally reading a silly little book about nothing love it and do you ever audiobook any of these i've

00:13:36.400 never read the audiobooks and i think where i draw the line is hearing smut in my ear and i hear that

00:13:41.920 yeah that's so embarrassing i'm like totally totally no for sure same yeah your fiancee talks

00:13:49.500 like what are you doing i think that's where i draw the line yeah personally personally but reading

00:13:55.980 it i'm all cool i'm cool with because it's in my voice but it's different when it's another man in

00:14:00.240 i will say there's there's something because right now for throne of glass to that series i'm pretty sure

00:14:05.520 they don't have any of the graphic audio where it's just like a narrator reading it and they change

00:14:10.800 their voice a bit yeah and i will say there's like a kind of asmr vibe of like you're when you hear

00:14:16.380 her voice you're like it's my girl i'm gonna go to sleep now like good i feel safe it's really safe

00:14:21.600 and then also i will say too when i had one of my recording sessions for my audiobook you love on sale

00:14:29.960 wherever audiobooks are sold yeah um there was uh this really amazing actor who um he like he was you

00:14:40.000 know had so much um you know versatility in it i mean vocal actors oh my god they're crazy they're

00:14:46.500 so talented it's so crazy yeah and so he was one of the people kind of going i was like okay like

00:14:52.640 this like waiter and this little moment like kind of filling in and giving some versatility for all

00:14:57.420 the different little spots yeah and then at the end of it i was like my editor told me you do a lot

00:15:02.820 of the graphic audios like maybe for like a guitar and he was like oh yeah no i was this one character

00:15:10.040 he was like a monster and did it i was like were you the serial and he was like yeah i was like

00:15:15.260 i'm sorry i geeked out like can i get a picture i was like like literally i was and he didn't even

00:15:22.900 really understand it because he hadn't read it and i was like you don't get it i saw he was like

00:15:27.360 it's this weirdo yeah fucking book something about i'm like you mean it's like um actually 0.92

00:15:32.540 like that was me but anyways so you know what i mean and like you're saying about your phone it's 0.97

00:15:38.620 like god bless anything that is gonna fulfill you right don't let anyone yuck your yum right

00:15:44.260 and for things that are they just they're fun and sometimes you can do that right and it's illegal

00:15:49.260 to have fun nowadays it actually is it's illegal especially as a girl yeah girls have girls just 0.99

00:15:53.880 want to be allowed to have fun but it's illegal for real i was just posting on my instagram story

00:15:58.640 the other day about like the new books i'm reading because like i just see them on i'm all up in

00:16:03.520 goodreads i'm like balls totally balls deep well now you're an acclaimed author thank you thank you

00:16:10.360 so you gotta you know what's crazy though about goodreads is like they're mean on there oh yeah

00:16:15.660 yeah no i mean no it's kind of like reddit vibes right right it's like influencers start right

00:16:21.360 it's like a stark page yeah but for books and they are so detailed their reviews they're like

00:16:26.780 right one star let's get into it first off world building zero out of ten second off like it's

00:16:33.740 they're crazy and sometimes too i feel like because admittedly like i have had a few coming in so like

00:16:41.060 i'm not gonna not stock it like yeah i mean like someone on your team might be like that's not for

00:16:46.040 you to look at look at and it's like if you think i'm not gonna look at that that's crazy it's crazy

00:16:50.760 that you believe in me enough to think that i wouldn't look it's like you don't know me um i

00:16:56.440 actually i remember one time like at the very beginning like one of my first viral videos i was

00:16:59.800 talking to this girl at a party and i was like oh it's kind of crazy like everyone's like commenting

00:17:02.740 and like i have all this exposure now like i'm going viral and she's like those comments are not for

00:17:06.800 you to look at like that's not your business like that's not for you and i was like just being a

00:17:10.100 people pleaser i was like totally totally and then as soon as she leaves i'm like looking at

00:17:14.380 all the i'm like i'm not taking your advice right now but i did see this one person comment and it

00:17:20.640 was so funny because it's like there i think like the star rating wasn't good but then they're like

00:17:25.380 i loved this and that and that and it's like it sounds like you liked it that's so funny so you did

00:17:32.760 like it it's so funny to be like i it's like eating your whole meal like you eat the whole thing

00:17:38.200 and you're like and you want it like a second servant and you're like it was okay like that's

00:17:41.620 what that's what good reason is like a hater that it's and you know what at that point i love it at

00:17:46.480 that point you're being a hater you're being a hater it's it's that's like i've gotten people

00:17:50.660 writing comments sometimes on like yeah the podcast yeah and they'll say like i love drew but like i've

00:17:57.080 heard that story before and blah blah blah and i'm like girl i'm almost at 200 episodes you would run

00:18:02.580 out of shit to talk about too you're like do you know how many stories of my moms i've heard like 0.94

00:18:06.960 that's being in someone's life if you don't want to be in my life don't watch 200 episodes 1.00

00:18:11.980 on my playlist you're at episode 150 and you're like a you i think she's repeated herself once 0.99

00:18:18.700 or twice yeah no shit bitch do you know how many things i've said the same of like this week like 1.00

00:18:23.220 when you're on like a press thing dude oh literally literally like two days after i tell my fiancee 0.99

00:18:28.040 something i'll tell him again he goes yeah you told me and i go did i and i'll still tell him you're

00:18:31.600 like well i didn't tell you from this angle you didn't let me finish and and also the things i

00:18:37.120 learned in the past two days i have a different perspective on the story now whole situation

00:18:41.120 changed get it whole situation it's a completely different story i am now the antagonist in the

00:18:49.340 story you'll never believe it i'm never there's a twist there was a twist in the past two days

00:18:54.660 on yeah on goodreads i i get that it's like my publicist has told me to when my book came out

00:19:00.580 because i was worried about that like reviews and all that yeah and my publicist was like honestly

00:19:05.060 your goodreads is like really positive and he goes and i was shocked i was like oh word

00:19:12.180 and he was like because they're mean on their girl of course and i was like oh are they because i i had

00:19:18.560 only looked a couple times but i i was also i was like i'm gonna wait to look at that until i'm like

00:19:24.180 out of the press run of it all yes and then i'll look at it but i was like if i see that now while

00:19:29.680 i'm in the middle of a tornado it's such a despo feeling it's like you're out there being like

00:19:34.100 listen read and then they're like what hey you yeah i this feels horrible and you have to keep

00:19:39.640 doing if you're just going yes i did do this right and then you're like that's something i did last

00:19:43.540 week so i don't even care anymore also but question turning the mic but do you feel like so you had

00:19:50.480 nerves about the goodreads of it all um did you feel like a prep for that from other online comments

00:19:56.620 or just almost felt like more vulnerable like a different yeah i think it feels yeah i think it

00:20:01.420 feels different it felt different to me because like social media hate is so different from like

00:20:06.060 and it feels like corny to say but it's like when it's art that you're putting out or something you're

00:20:11.320 putting out that's feels vulnerable because there are a lot of vulnerable parts of my book of course

00:20:15.140 hearing people's commentary on that is not something i'm willing to entertain especially because in so

00:20:20.840 much of the book i talk about like my family and like my sister and my fiance and like i talk about

00:20:25.420 very intimate parts of my life that i don't typically do online totally so i think that's

00:20:29.420 why i was feeling like wary of it and also i didn't want to be another influencer book which is

00:20:35.580 like with books because like like i don't want people to think you want to understand right you

00:20:39.540 you're like i didn't just like kind of do this yeah like it makes sense for me to do this if you 0.94

00:20:43.680 really think about it like you know sometimes people come out with shit and you're like that 0.71

00:20:46.400 doesn't make any sense it definitely makes yeah it's like inauthentic to their brand i felt like this 0.92

00:20:51.720 was authentic so i just didn't want it to be perceived in that way totally but it wasn't

00:20:57.200 necessarily like i was willing to entertain revisions to it in fact or i said this the

00:21:02.300 other day like the only reviews i've seen that were they're not even negative they're just kind

00:21:06.500 of like whatevs it's women going i already knew like most of this you're like and it wasn't for you 1.00

00:21:12.880 right right you did i i doubt it like when i look at them i'm like well you're 21 and rich and thin

00:21:20.140 and white so i doubt it but it's okay it's like really really girl then where's your book

00:21:24.280 yeah that's what you should say well i kind of already knew all this yeah they're they all it's

00:21:29.360 like i've only seen like four or five of those and all of them their common thread is i thought she

00:21:34.160 was going to teach me how to be meaner to men which i think is just interesting i think that's such

00:21:38.380 a superficial take of my platform as a whole uh to which i'm like well then like you said the book's

00:21:44.660 not for you like and if that's all you think i do like you think i'm gonna just write out

00:21:48.760 gross to a nondescript person right like because it's also that's the difference between short

00:21:54.560 form and long form it's because i agree roast is actually coming it's not for the sake of being

00:21:59.640 mean yeah coming from a place of defending others and it's coming from a place of like actual like

00:22:06.240 theology you have about like exactly old yeah it's like and now here it is in detail exactly it's

00:22:11.960 like spread out more right um to me that's avi but like also i also feel like i think too my mom

00:22:18.280 says it's like everyone like people love to be a critic so part of it too is like when you see the

00:22:23.100 negative it's it's almost like you need the negative to write those people saying that it's

00:22:27.560 like because they see the positive and they're like well actually i thought they want to be

00:22:30.880 contrarian right you know they want to be different and you kind of need that too it's like you need that 1.00

00:22:35.080 energy in it that is true that's and it comes with it i think it comes with it like after i

00:22:39.440 made the bestseller list oh you you would have thought you would have thought incredible every

00:22:44.600 anyone who had any negative commentary about that would be shut up well you would think that they're 0.88

00:22:48.920 all new york times bestselling authors too oh sure one of them was like that's fucking easy it's easy 0.85

00:22:54.680 to get on that list well then why aren't you on there and you do it sir when you do it why am i up

00:23:00.120 here and so lonely no it's so myself it's so well i think it also really just goes to show like you're

00:23:05.980 saying like as soon as you have the word or any word that has to do with influencer attached to it

00:23:11.580 doesn't matter how genius you are it doesn't matter no not at all he doesn't no not at all yeah that's

00:23:16.840 gonna make its way into a headline and there's gonna be a boomer being like yeah or assuming like

00:23:22.160 well it was good but she didn't write it probably or like whatever it may be yeah i had that too

00:23:27.020 you're like where a ghostwriter about my family yeah you're like yes i have a ghostwriter she lived

00:23:33.860 my life we had a double she lived in my closet yeah method acting exactly right but so it's very 0.81

00:23:40.060 interesting yeah i would love to hear more about you on the influencer part like because i know that

00:23:45.760 you have been far more than oh okay they don't know you you've been in the industry for a very long

00:23:52.400 time totally so i'd love to know how did that feel when you started really growing online and

00:23:56.920 kind of like melding your two worlds like how did it totally i'm sure is it like annoying to be like

00:24:01.440 no i hear the girl from tiktok i think that like any moment of like we're saying that like right i want

00:24:06.720 people to understand i think it's just when you've had the experiences of being an assistant because i mean

00:24:13.200 i was an assistant for i think a good five years before i went viral yeah you know just kind of

00:24:19.340 running around the city and doing the thing and it's funny because being an influencer you like you

00:24:24.740 never have never felt more exposed in your life and being an assistant you probably never felt more

00:24:28.840 invisible in your life right because it's so like one from one extreme to the other really and so i

00:24:35.320 think there's like that i'm so grateful for that perspective i'm grateful too that i was around like

00:24:39.220 famous people in glam and like those things where to enough to i mean i'm grateful for any moment

00:24:47.800 like i'm still like woohoo like glam but at the same time i think the big thing you have to remember

00:24:53.040 right is everything is ultimately work yep and i think that you know you really like when you're

00:24:59.700 when i've a person now who like gets in the car and does the glam like i've been doing this week

00:25:04.380 it's funny because i literally all i can think about is like when i was like and your car will get

00:25:08.160 there like on the other side so trippy i bet it's super trippy yeah and i can't forget it yeah such

00:25:14.200 like an experience totally there's something yeah surreal about it it's a great sort of constant

00:25:19.760 reminder of gratitude i would say and yeah i think it also really taught me too that when i did go

00:25:27.020 viral that first time yeah i was like it's lightning in a bottle and i don't want to lose it and i don't

00:25:31.700 want to just have 15 minutes i how do i like beat this with a hammer over again stretch it out right

00:25:38.680 stretch it out i do this i hit the mic all i do is i hit it left and right um and so i think like

00:25:45.600 yeah overall i i'm just grateful that that's kind of like the way things have gone totally what i mean

00:25:50.240 absolutely yeah i i think all the time that i'm grateful that if i got a platform i got it when i

00:25:56.380 did yes because i feel like it was at the perfect time because i got it i were you a quarantine blow

00:26:01.460 up person um yeah yes and no because i i wasn't in 2020 it was like 2021 is when i really started

00:26:09.080 posting 2022 was when i like exploded and then 2023 was my first full year like doing professional

00:26:15.520 yeah like i think what were you doing before that i worked at the nfl oh my god that's why that's part

00:26:22.100 of your big brand yeah that's why sports are part of my lord too that's amazing my horror story

00:26:26.440 oh my god my villain origin story really where what where i worked for the shield i worked for

00:26:31.460 the league like itself i worked in social media for them um based in 2019 la so you were in la

00:26:37.320 okay okay yeah so i i did journalism in entertainment in communications yeah and i and i really wanted to

00:26:45.500 i just loved to entertain but i was a journalism student in college so i learned how to write i learned

00:26:50.600 how to uh record like set up cameras i learned how to edit i learned and that's how i got good

00:26:56.240 talking to a camera and like talking on camera because you know how like i can always tell when

00:27:00.660 someone's new to talking to camera because if they can see themselves they're always looking at

00:27:04.280 themselves yes and then they're pausing a lot because they keep looking at themselves and actually

00:27:08.100 it's a conversation between them and themselves totally totally it's so hard not to do i know and

00:27:13.180 when i did journalism i did a lot of like stand-ups which is like you know we're reporting here live

00:27:18.500 right straight to camera and i remember in my earliest tiktok videos i like hate my voice yes

00:27:25.840 because when i was in college my uh like evil professor she told me to that i should uh like

00:27:32.660 change the octave like up why can't i think of it heighten it like i should like talk at a higher

00:27:38.160 register because she said it's more appealing because it's more feminine on camera also you have

00:27:42.900 you have literally like such an incredible distinct like it's so a part of you and you're

00:27:49.060 one of the many reasons for success so it's just like well good thing you didn't listen to that person

00:27:54.540 i know when i look at my earliest videos i cringe because i sound like mickey mouse in my opinion

00:27:58.940 because i'm like that my my register sits lower and i like my voice deeper but in my earliest ones

00:28:04.500 i think i was just used to talking like that on camera and when i watch them i want to

00:28:07.800 fucking throw my phone totally no it's it's really hard to look back at first videos of yourself 0.93

00:28:12.400 you're like oh i was also just similarly like again like the looking at your camera like all i 0.98

00:28:18.140 was thinking that was what i looked like i was so always looking at yourself like literally i was

00:28:22.960 like talking like this like i was like trying to look sexy trying to look pretty trying to my mom is

00:28:28.840 like basically like my acting coach essentially because she's you know an artist and a writer and 0.98

00:28:33.680 i've been lucky to have her guidance and she used to always say to me because we're we both have that

00:28:39.300 like terrible like insecure bone of like just like sometimes i call it like face dysmorphia where

00:28:44.500 you're like a little bit just like so upset you're like like you know what i mean oh yeah i'd never

00:28:48.320 become more aware of what i look like exactly and it's it's like the best um kind of like exposure 0.95

00:28:53.680 therapy truly they really cold plunge you when you start doing this shit you're like oh that's what i 0.76

00:28:58.760 look like i'm grateful i'm like great when people are mean to me i'm like that's another thing i can 0.97

00:29:02.940 take you know that's that's one feather of the cap right and my mom would always say like when i

00:29:08.760 would do theater in high school like i'd be like well i don't know if i want to like audition for

00:29:12.180 the play like the boys are all gonna see me and it's gonna be embarrassing you know and she's like

00:29:16.680 you know when you really know you're an actress when you can just get up on stage and throw yourself

00:29:23.660 on stage and you do not care about how insane you look that's safe you know and i think that that's a

00:29:28.920 little bit of the experience absolutely you have to let go of it you have to let go and it does so

00:29:33.940 much for you i agree and it's like it's also a very freeing feeling like what you're saying it makes

00:29:38.740 you feel grateful i agree because i feel like whenever people ask me about growing a following or

00:29:45.300 whatever i always tell them if you care at all about getting hate in any way like it really cripples 0.92

00:29:52.680 you don't do it yes i was like don't do it don't do it and i mean about anything i don't just

00:29:57.500 like what you look like what you're saying what your intellect is yeah your integrity who you are

00:30:02.020 as a person like you're the tone of voice the way you dress the way you stand the way you talk like

00:30:07.340 everything about you totally is like up for perception totally and to be scrutinized and you

00:30:12.980 were like you were saying kind of already on a path of like you had been on camera with your phone

00:30:17.040 it's there you know i already wanted to be an actress which is certainly that you know me too

00:30:22.160 right right we were talking so you did journalism undergrad but did you ever do theater i did do

00:30:27.220 theater classes classes yeah i did in high school or yeah in high school i took a theater class like

00:30:32.940 for a full year like two semester whatever and then in college i took another one yeah because you gotta

00:30:37.660 you gotta act like you're so gorgeous you gotta get on camera you gotta you and caleb will be in

00:30:42.400 something right i said it to caleb once i was like you the three of you that's a movie that's an action

00:30:48.540 movie i told i told caleb the other day i was like me britney and you should be in like a new

00:30:53.600 version of the hangover i think i literally said something like that to him once and he was like

00:30:57.960 i'm not sure if like they want i'm like they do everyone wants they we want i don't care if they

00:31:02.240 want it we want it yeah no literally sorry but i that's what i want i'm my i'm my butt is in that seat 0.73

00:31:08.600 well i know you were on abbott elementary oh my god please tell me about it i love that thank you

00:31:13.780 i love that show um the best yeah we love quinta yeah the world it was so amazing i mean again it's

00:31:20.280 like kind of on theme of what we're talking about for being on these paths yeah you're already kind

00:31:25.460 of you have these goals and then you know the way that being online which you know can can just open

00:31:32.200 doors for people can be the great equalizer i agree right i felt so sad for like i was like with

00:31:37.840 the tiktok of it all like however long ago it was i was more so just feeling sad for like those people

00:31:43.840 who were like maybe where i was at like 2021 2022 where it's like they're just getting started yeah

00:31:49.900 like they're on the cusp on the cusp but actually being able to find real career opportunities out of

00:31:55.000 this and so i just as much as like i don't know i think there's so much mixed like the influencers

00:32:00.460 stuff there's everyone has an opinion about it but at the end of the day there's only something

00:32:05.180 like ultimately good about a space that lets everyone in i know i i think the same thing

00:32:10.920 right i defend the internet it as angry as it makes me on a daily basis i i say all the time like i said

00:32:18.420 it in a forbes interview recently like i was talking about how the internet has given people who would

00:32:24.480 never in a million years get a chance like it has given them access it's given them a door like into the

00:32:29.780 world that is so exclusive so closed off and so riddled with nepotism like riddle some of us don't

00:32:36.840 know anyone in the industry there's no other way and then if you factor in looks or any sort of

00:32:41.840 intersection of oppression like the amount of famous people we have today like we wouldn't have a lot of

00:32:46.540 we wouldn't have anyone like caleb or like chapel or like anyone that could access fame through the

00:32:53.780 internet like it's like access and views and also like geographically where they are too

00:32:58.020 right because that's its own privilege like you could have the most talented actor in the world

00:33:01.700 who like lives in some random state because they're like taking care of their family and

00:33:05.480 they can't go absolutely and all of a sudden they have a whole business from there from their house

00:33:10.840 and what in theater what kind of theater girl were you i was like you look a comedy queen do you like

00:33:15.660 drama well i will say that i did start i started it was college that i started to understand the

00:33:23.860 whole comedy of it all love i never thought of myself as like i mean like yeah you don't think

00:33:29.060 of yourself as like funny especially as a girl because like when i was in high school it's like

00:33:32.380 oh you're a girl you cannot be funny that doesn't you're pretty funny for a girl for a girl yeah

00:33:38.640 totally i definitely like really came from one of those like because it's like i did theater in high

00:33:45.220 school but i like god help me if i wasn't gonna be popular i was honestly gonna be popular too

00:33:50.620 so i definitely weaseled my way as well into the you know the more normie crap people who had the

00:33:57.660 parties right ever and still have some of those girlfriends they're incredible people but you know

00:34:03.040 the culture especially of i would say the people i was immediately surrounded by it was very

00:34:07.260 masculine dominated very like the joking was with us being the butt of the joke right yeah um like

00:34:15.200 really aggressively and pretty dramatically honestly like sometimes i tell people stories i'm like

00:34:19.740 and then and they're like what the room gets quiet all in the table and making those gestures at

00:34:26.840 people and we're did and it's like that's not normal yeah so i think i was definitely very

00:34:32.900 silenced yeah like silent silenced um and again like it took me i remember my whole first year

00:34:41.880 of high school i didn't i was too afraid to audition for any of the plays even though we had this great

00:34:48.160 theater department because i was just so afraid of what being made fun of until finally you being

00:34:53.820 troy bolton like no literally i was i was troy bolton he's like oh i'm gonna sing with her so bad

00:35:01.200 i was like what if what if coach finds out

00:35:06.260 you know like i'm supposed to be a ball

00:35:09.960 dad i have to play ball i have to go ball i can't i can't learn 12 bars like and um and also like

00:35:19.580 mom my mom will be watching this hey mom she watches it she consumes it all hi mom hi mom um

00:35:26.120 she gave me a piece of advice that i've like said before that i'll say again i've said it before and

00:35:32.000 i will say it again is she and it was like one of those sometimes you know when people give you a

00:35:37.200 piece of advice and it like kind of is meant to scare you and it works it was like that yeah she

00:35:41.660 was like if you if what your priority is and what you care about is what the boys in your grade

00:35:48.100 think of you and that's what's going to stop you from auditioning i don't think you want to be an

00:35:52.240 actress that badly you know and i'm like but i do i do i do your mom's like well i guess you don't 0.83

00:35:58.460 want it that right and that's like the scariest thing yeah shit right that hit me it's like right 0.83

00:36:04.300 yeah no no i do i want it it's like then do it right she said then prove it she said then prove 0.97

00:36:10.400 it bitch that's what she said to me in 10th grade and and then i just from then on just yeah fully 1.00

00:36:16.320 got into the theater of it all and like stopped caring in two seconds because that's how that goes 0.97

00:36:20.920 right and then once you find it you're like once you find it this is my favorite thing in the world

00:36:25.640 when you're fulfilled by something it doesn't really matter no it doesn't matter anymore what other 0.80

00:36:29.900 people think of it really doesn't especially men it's who gives a fuck what they like everything 1.00

00:36:35.500 they like sucks she went especially man yeah everything everything they like sucks so if they 0.99

00:36:43.080 don't like it then good um like literally those experiences were like get me to a women's college 0.95

00:36:49.860 and so then i went to a women's college i'm happy for you you're like i really need to focus on my

00:36:57.760 shed that right yeah i know i'm like i'm in like i'm like 20 or i'm like 18 years old and i'm like

00:37:03.000 it's about my craft but i literally like as the time was thinking like that which is not normal that's

00:37:08.300 what you need but um and so then i really do think if i had gone to a co-ed school yeah don't think i

00:37:14.700 ever would have auditioned for like the comedy team i think that was like so scary you're like i feel

00:37:21.540 like and it's so funny now because i'm like everyone does improv but at the time like improv sounded like

00:37:25.180 the scariest thing ever right and it's like you have to get up and make a fool of yourself and

00:37:29.920 just like release inhibitions right and if i had a crush on someone like in the audition you said

00:37:35.940 that was gonna work against me i'd say and i'm gonna get up there and i'm gonna go and this will

00:37:39.620 be my character you you literally like joining a convent so that you can focus i'm like sydney

00:37:45.440 sweeney as that and i'm like i'm ready for to be taken seriously you're enlisting so that you're

00:37:51.980 not distracted if there were men there i never would be successful i never and that's tea honestly

00:37:59.020 honestly it takes a great deal of um like power and self-reflection to be like no you know what i

00:38:05.400 need to go somewhere where i can thrive and be myself and not feel judged totally because it's really

00:38:10.160 not about like their approval it's feeling judged it's it's making you like resistant to it and you're

00:38:15.100 like if i want to like really embrace it i gotta go somewhere i feel safe i love that you can't do

00:38:19.180 something like that halfway like no not at all it can't be like oh i'm gonna do a little pursuing my

00:38:23.680 dreams about a little bit of like balancing it with trying to be this person that i don't actually

00:38:27.640 have that image which is what i was like in high school and it's like this is not sustainable

00:38:31.540 no but i was like i'm like what if myself tanner um bled all over onto the white count it didn't team

00:38:39.320 it didn't okay but anyways so i'm glad you came to that realization i love that also it was so i mean

00:38:45.760 so formative like some of my best friends you know from college day yes and so then yeah then i

00:38:52.540 auditioned for the comedy for for it was called sickos shout out girls and and people plus um people

00:39:00.860 plus uh smith improv comedy org of smith okay t and is it like a like an improv group it was all

00:39:08.820 improv all like um short form improv and then i was like the president eventually when i was on

00:39:15.300 caleb's when i was on caleb's we were like yeah nothing more embarrassing like than being on improv

00:39:19.400 in college and then there was like a beat and we're like but i'm so proud of it

00:39:23.640 that being said it was the greatest time of my life that being said it's the greatest honor of

00:39:29.400 my life and i pretend it was an honor to serve i pretend to be embarrassed about it but i but yet

00:39:36.720 why do i bring it up so much right why do i want you to ask me if i've ever done why do i want you

00:39:41.400 to ask me if i was the president i was okay fine yes i was literally i literally one of my best

00:39:47.120 friends isabella we like she was younger than me when i was the president and i was kind of scary

00:39:51.280 because she'd be late and like she still has trauma about me yelling at her and stuff and it's

00:39:55.380 like i swear to god that like me being the president is still in her dynamic like that's how important

00:40:00.100 it was to us okay it was really important um and so but but i do think that is like kind of the prime

00:40:07.460 example of something that i wouldn't have done at a typical school yeah improv's not for the week

00:40:12.940 it's not for the week and well improv with cis men right it's a whole world because i will say 0.81

00:40:21.800 this too i went to a comedy show recently right and i was like so not the fun girl because i was

00:40:27.000 with like normie friends and so you know they're just everything's great everything's great they're

00:40:32.860 not analyzing things right i'm like don't they don't care about the art they don't care about the 0.94

00:40:37.800 just kidding love you guys but like i was like i'm like serena like shut up shut up shut up and 0.68

00:40:43.420 so i was like what do you think it's like don't ask me that you know because i just i think i 0.82

00:40:47.320 aggressively get that feeling when i step out of um like a lineup where you're getting different

00:40:52.520 kinds of people especially in a more like manhattan space um it can happen though in the brooklyn

00:40:57.600 spaces too where you're like i really do believe there's just a general general benefit of the doubt

00:41:05.260 that women or women plus or women presenting in any way yeah simply do not get yeah like like

00:41:12.160 pity laughs yep yep they don't even get like do you know what i mean absolutely i do and it's and

00:41:16.980 any man science i swear to god any straight cis man that has made anybody give them any sort of laugh

00:41:24.860 whether that's like through the nose breathing or an outright guffaw in any range one time they're

00:41:32.760 like i should do comedy i should do no i should start doing it this is an epidemic it's so bad

00:41:37.600 i'd like to start try stand up why because actually are you gonna it's like it's like oh i'd like to

00:41:45.860 try rocket science but it's like what do you mean like try you can't try stand up like yeah stand up

00:41:52.580 like and okay like i've dipped my toe just to like get myself out there but i would never like call 0.98

00:41:57.800 myself a stand up me either think about the amount of work that shit is hard that shit hours it's 0.92

00:42:05.640 hours and i've only done one five one type yes and that probably took you i would love to see that 0.98

00:42:11.140 but that probably took you a like like months and months to come up with that the type five i wrote

00:42:15.960 took me like it took me probably like two and a half months but that's just with everything i had

00:42:20.000 going on it probably would have taken me longer but i had to like i was in crunch time

00:42:24.640 because i opened for caleb um i i was one i could have seen that i was one next time i'm there yeah

00:42:30.460 please next time i'm there i would love notes too from you for real um but like i did one with him

00:42:35.440 and chris fleming chris filming up and after me and he's a genius like well both of those people

00:42:40.460 that's an intimidating you know how like sometimes athletes will donate their brains to science because

00:42:45.680 they want them to study concussions that's what i did if that ever happens if something god forbid

00:42:50.060 knock on wood anything ever happens to chris fleming i call dibs on that brain okay you want the

00:42:53.560 brain i want it i want to open it up and i need to look inside of him chris is going to see this and

00:42:58.580 go well that's a compliment well that's a compliment i've never even weirder and even

00:43:03.100 funnier in response to me saying that absolutely i want to i want just a piece of it i just need to

00:43:08.180 look yeah so i open for the two of them who are comedy geniuses which is daunting enough for me as

00:43:13.120 it is i'm sure you were incredible because it's also like it's about energy it's about confidence and

00:43:17.400 you're right it's not just about that the hours but yeah i agree and well and caleb helped me

00:43:22.180 tremendously and he's not gonna lie to you no never and it's so funny because when i first met

00:43:26.920 with him he was like well tell me some stuff that you have and so i was telling him things that i had

00:43:31.380 written down over the last like couple months and like a couple of them that i said he was like

00:43:35.680 anything else and then i go yeah yeah just yeah be pretending to flip pages i'm on my phone

00:43:41.140 yeah yeah yeah yeah you're like nervous and then i my my toe my book you're like with my ink

00:43:47.160 i know and then with some of them i would say and he would laugh he'd be like that's perfect let's use

00:43:53.840 that yeah but it takes there's just so much to it like and it probably wasn't the stuff you thought

00:43:58.700 he was gonna say no not at all yeah the stuff that is bangers with friends is wouldn't work in a

00:44:05.100 stand-up setting this is just so different it's such a it's it's literally an art form yeah and

00:44:09.400 it's actually insane it's hard that someone would could you imagine saying that about like going and

00:44:14.800 seeing like a painting and like the mat and being like i think i want to try painting it's like it's

00:44:20.560 crazy but it really obviously is coming from a place of like will i get laughs it's like yeah because

00:44:26.700 it's not hard for you it's like it's like when you're at like yeah when you were like at it when

00:44:32.500 you're like a best man or something like or like at church or something it's like yeah there is a

00:44:38.900 difference that's like you know you're best man in a wedding yeah see what you've done a rule you let

00:44:46.280 best man do speeches and look what happened no literally no literally what happens to the comedy

00:44:51.360 literally no it's so it's so oversaturated i had mary beth barone on yes um and she told me

00:44:57.600 probably had so many oh hers are crazy but she told me she left a set once and um she killed like 0.86

00:45:04.480 yeah and she was like i killed quite frankly she said i left and this guy followed me out and was

00:45:08.880 like giving me notes on my tags and my jokes and then at one point he goes you should be writing this

00:45:14.560 down oh she said what she said she goes why would i do that i thought you were just talking at me i

00:45:21.500 didn't think you were are you like giving me actually absorbing what you're saying she's like this is

00:45:25.860 for you that is insane and that was like two months before i saw her so that was like recently

00:45:30.780 she's been doing comedy for years so she's such a vet she's so funny she kills me and i find you so

00:45:37.240 funny so i was i love that you are well versed in the area of like it's so and watching them too like

00:45:45.180 i'm sure you're an avid comedy watcher like you love to go watch a show totally no and it's it's um

00:45:51.240 i mean that's why it's so amazing being in like you know obviously the brooklyn comedy spaces yeah

00:45:55.360 all i've made so many great friends and there's that sort of counterculture to that i agree and

00:46:01.700 that's incredible and i think that grows and it'll grow more and more and so there's like positivity on

00:46:07.660 the horizon but i do think it's just there's an oversaturation there's an oversaturation and

00:46:13.280 it's also just i do think it's just kind of like it tells us something about like just

00:46:16.840 in general like what the vibes and it's a little vibe check i agree and also like crowd work crowd

00:46:23.160 work doing well on on places like tiktok is is truly making it's emboldening men to believe that

00:46:29.880 they could do it for real yes which is like by the way also a different form i agree a different

00:46:34.160 crowd work is not purely stand-up like stand-up to me is is completely new and original material

00:46:40.320 maybe crowd work in there right but like it's it's 99 jokes that you wrote and you can argue

00:46:46.680 when you put it on tiktok it's its own thing right it's like yeah exactly it's like any

00:46:50.500 stand-up you put on tiktok like you can make an argument that that's its own beast yeah it's

00:46:55.500 a completely different right uh tack like beast to tackle there's also there's like this one thing

00:47:00.380 that's like in my ear i'm like what was that like thing oh based on like the kind of mary beth

00:47:04.580 brown story in that line of thinking i i think also sometimes i get i've gotten is you know when

00:47:12.120 you're out and someone's like um like a girl will be like oh my god like love you did it and then

00:47:17.040 she'll really like the the one thing she really wants to tell me like this has happened a few times

00:47:21.220 is points to her boyfriend and it's like he thinks you're funny right oh and he oh my god you're so

00:47:28.280 and he and my or if he's out there and my and my boyfriend

00:47:31.260 and i'm like well thank god your boyfriend because when you said i was funny i didn't think

00:47:40.260 that meant anything right and it's like but also anything to me when you told me no i meant nothing

00:47:46.240 now it was it was insulting and and also but the obvious like it's also like so wild to think like

00:47:54.200 that is how conditioned we are that you're even saying it like it's this normal thing

00:47:58.200 because you are fully making the statement in this moment that it is even harder for my boyfriend

00:48:04.300 to find a woman funny i get that a lot too right yeah yeah all the time it's never it's more so

00:48:10.700 online like they'll be like even my man thinks you're funny even my that could be that's the name

00:48:15.580 of your next book that's the name of your next book that's a great title i'm funny even even yes

00:48:21.460 your man thinks i'm funny and if someone tries to steal that title i'm reposting this

00:48:26.500 and i'm calling you out because that's her title but no literally it's so interesting

00:48:32.500 that's actually such a good point i've never thought of it that way it's like

00:48:35.600 even we don't trust our own right like opinions on stuff oh right i'll tell you what if if a bunch

00:48:40.880 of men are laughing at me i'm either getting mad or i'm worried oh right nothing i feel is joyous

00:48:46.760 right in any way because if because a lot of times it's like oh we hate you and so you're expressing

00:48:52.200 hate for yourself and we're going yeah and it's like well maybe not that if they're laughing

00:48:57.500 with me yes something's off no oh i know check in it's so crazy why are so many of you nice to me

00:49:03.860 right now it's so crazy too when you actually think about because i also am like such a believer too

00:49:08.080 and like how like i think like a lot of the funniest people in my life are my normie friends

00:49:13.540 who are not comedians like my best friend varsha who's like an ob gyn and she and literally she

00:49:21.620 makes me like any little thing she says i'm like that's the craziest and funniest thing i've ever

00:49:25.740 heard and i think it's and obviously a lot of those people are women and i just think it's 0.78

00:49:31.920 our finger on the poles of what's funny it's like it's just the most so right not actually like pure

00:49:37.660 thinking thing is so much to do with like perception like even stand up like getting up on that when you

00:49:43.080 walk onto a stage as a stand up as a man yeah you already have something get walking before you

00:49:48.440 reach the mic t you know what i mean you already have something in your physical voice yeah in the

00:49:53.120 ways that like we are taught right to the ways that we are having to analyze our voices like a

00:49:58.440 journalism professor like you're already losing yeah yeah you're fighting you're already trying to

00:50:03.800 win the room exactly like you're fighting a losing battle already so it's like will it ever change i

00:50:08.200 don't know it'll take a while but it's kind of interesting but i think that's why when women 1.00

00:50:12.140 joke about shit like it's the funniest thing i've ever seen like that's why i found you so 0.96

00:50:18.280 unbelievably funny because it's shit that is so first of all harmless it's not hurting anybody 0.98

00:50:23.460 but it's also so specific and it's like something i that's like my favorite kind of humor is like when 0.95

00:50:30.000 it's so niche and specific and when women joke and laugh about it like it's fun it's sisterhood it's

00:50:35.780 community when men get a hold of the trends or jokes you're like yeah you guys ruined it you ruined it

00:50:40.720 and also with well now i hate it also with what you're saying too i personally think what i do is 0.54

00:50:47.980 is coming from a pretty self-deprecating place of like if i haven't been the girl in the video i

00:50:52.440 certainly can relate in some way and then it's like if it's a lot of women which often is in the 1.00

00:50:57.880 comments laughing i mean that's so cool too because i think women can laugh at themselves i agree that's 0.99

00:51:02.280 what i'm saying like i think that's why women are so funny because women are inherently self-aware

00:51:07.380 and self-reflective and that's what it takes because we're forced to be i agree that's why 0.94

00:51:11.740 we were joking about it before we started that like when people say mean shit to us sometimes it's

00:51:16.580 funny yeah and we respect the craft right so we're like you know what you got me and and that's we

00:51:21.740 were like it's a little like that was good it's a little like okay okay user seven eight nine three

00:51:30.960 um that one's gonna stay with totally no it's so i don't know it's so interesting and i don't know

00:51:37.620 that's what was so exciting about nikki glazer at the yeah i agree right yeah it's a different

00:51:41.980 a different energy oh it's a different energy yeah and a better way

00:51:46.320 in like a much positively a much less yeah and not funny way right because well because straight

00:51:53.000 like that too it's like their idea of comedy is punching down it's always punching down um that's

00:51:58.320 why it's not funny um and also when you're punching down it's one thing to punch down as a

00:52:03.280 woman but the thing about men is they kill people so it's a little different when you're punching down

00:52:08.780 less when you've murdered when it's coming from a murderer it's a little less funny it's still

00:52:13.100 it's hard to laugh at those it's literally like barry i know he's like an actor in it but you get the

00:52:20.880 point it's like but yeah i know it's also interesting it's true and i i i'm curious like how has

00:52:27.840 how has it been taking your comedy experience your acting experience all of that into your book

00:52:32.720 like how has that been as far as since you're not you said you're not in the book right like the

00:52:36.200 voices it's my voice so you know i mean it was so i mean first of all as an actress it was a really

00:52:41.660 really cool experience to just like the vocal work of it yeah to learn about what i i think of myself

00:52:49.300 as not capable of i'm like i have a grating voice i can't really sing like but like i i think there

00:52:55.060 were my you know um producer who's comes from such like a like she's a composer such like a

00:53:01.280 technical voice technical background it's like no you can do this and like you can do that and

00:53:05.440 just as a performer it's really interesting to perform and only focus on one specific part of

00:53:10.680 performing right yeah um also just funny too because then it's like me and then like the other

00:53:16.620 three best friends are all like basically disney princesses or like it's like one of them my

00:53:20.600 friend sonia is princess jasmine in aladdin on broadway okay right and so like and the other

00:53:25.760 one's like joellen from the prom kaya can sing the you know who plays cat like and they're all like

00:53:30.900 hello like everything is so like asmr and then i'm like so whatever but like that's comedy baby

00:53:37.740 and um so that was really interesting and exciting and it felt very cumulative i think something i say

00:53:45.560 like when it comes to simon and schuster and the whole process of making that and performing in it

00:53:50.680 and writing it and when it comes to you know the high pressure of being on a set like abbott yeah

00:53:55.840 something i really believe is i'm like tiktok prepared me like i really every time people try to

00:54:02.860 like look so down on the internet it's like okay yes but ultimately all it is is like another sort of

00:54:09.980 like rehearsal space that happens to be public it's a vehicle yeah which then you're actually getting

00:54:15.000 other things out of it like exposure therapy as we were saying right and i just feel like in both

00:54:21.060 of those like professional experiences you realize that i mean i'm sure like you would like we were

00:54:27.140 saying like cringing at old videos like think about like think about the things that you could like walk

00:54:31.220 into a high pressure like oscars car right and like you probably couldn't have done that in the

00:54:35.520 beginning yeah yeah totally right and that's because you're trained that's the training yeah especially 0.98

00:54:39.840 talking to a phone talking to a camera like all of that shit it's like it really like gets you going 0.76

00:54:46.440 like you're used to it used to long days on set and all that stuff that like in the like with any other 0.93

00:54:51.600 work or craft it's something that you're gonna better and better i agree you know so it's a vehicle

00:54:56.440 more than anything yeah and so i felt it was just felt very fun and cumulative and just lucky that like

00:55:02.860 yeah i already am so lucky to put my work online and you know that's all i ever really wanted like

00:55:09.620 sometimes people are like when do you feel like you've made it which it's like i don't even know

00:55:12.600 about that but yeah me too right where does i don't even what does everybody's threshold is different

00:55:18.120 that's why it's like i honestly don't know and kind of like also you probably like new york times

00:55:22.960 bestseller you're like well now i'm gonna do it again like that's right like you can't that's what

00:55:26.460 is kind of like yep yep and now on to the next right but um you said that but i really do i see

00:55:33.460 this often because yes like all of this is i'm not gonna lie and say i don't want more more more i do

00:55:39.820 i want to have a tv show i want to you know have all the experiences of creating things i possibly can

00:55:46.280 but when i think about like making it i'm like i went from feeling like i know i can do these things

00:55:52.840 i know i can write yeah i know i can act i know i can be entertaining yeah like you you you feel

00:55:58.560 like a crazy person because you're just like you know sitting behind a desk feeling those things yeah

00:56:03.400 and then to go from that to all of a sudden it felt to me like a dime you know on a dime it's like

00:56:08.840 i just put something online and there's like a hundred thousand likes yeah like now you get to be

00:56:14.140 there's an audience yeah you get to be an artist for a living for a living yeah to like having to know

00:56:19.920 that like and even before i was making money from it yeah which like again i never thought i was like

00:56:24.740 you can do that like i didn't know i didn't know you could do that and i was like wait what i can

00:56:30.020 quit my assistant job but um you know even just the act of putting something out there with that kind

00:56:36.420 of reach that i had never had before it's like yeah well as a performer that's what you want

00:56:40.680 yeah yeah that's ultimately what attention attention at the end of the day attention is how i know i made it

00:56:47.160 i made it because i have attention and that was the goal and that's the only reason i'm doing

00:56:52.020 anything and that's all why we that's what we do right and honestly you have to love attention to

00:56:58.260 some extent to do this for a living you have to be cool with it at the very least and like and

00:57:02.360 revel in it and that's how i know i feel like that my fiance and i are like meant for each other

00:57:06.780 because he hates attention you guys are so perfect oh thank you when when you're my favorite internet

00:57:11.640 couple and so when you dress up as you like i don't want to spoil for people but like an acotar

00:57:16.700 couple oh yeah i guess well it's like it's not i'm just i'm thinking my one friend who i don't

00:57:21.820 you're like my one friend who's on book one and if she knew that was a couple she'd be like how

00:57:26.800 but like when i saw that and i was also like i know drew made him do this

00:57:32.560 yeah i sure did girl and it was also so amazing yeah literally freaking out i know i saw i was you're

00:57:40.200 like sabrina's really excited about this honestly there were a lot of people that i was like damn

00:57:44.860 you read those books yeah like i was kind of it's community building right like taylor tomlinson 0.99

00:57:49.200 wrote that on my shit oh that's so funny you're a freak you're like girl you're like i knew you were 0.98

00:57:53.140 a freak taylor i knew it you're like i just learned a lot about you i knew it but um but yeah no i i 0.99

00:57:58.320 think that's no i'm obsessed with you guys are my favorite internet couple and also the obvious

00:58:03.200 the obvious like self-assurance that a man has when like they can be with someone who

00:58:09.840 actually has attention like i don't even need to say because it's so freaking obvious

00:58:13.200 but no but that is i will say like when i meet women that i'm like friends with online and when

00:58:17.900 we meet for the first time in person that's one of the most asked questions i get yes about him

00:58:22.560 specifically is like how does he handle yeah and he's cool with you like how does he handle

00:58:27.380 i said he doesn't care well he's my number one fan but like he doesn't bother him yes he hates

00:58:33.300 attention so if i'm the only person being looked at he's he's okay with that like he wishes that

00:58:37.800 wasn't the case for me but like when like when aquaman came out well obviously that was years ago

00:58:43.740 well before i did this when i was a like normal working human uh that was hell on earth for us as

00:58:49.340 a couple because everywhere we went they were like oh my god can i take a picture which is you know

00:58:54.500 that's not him right like you know that's not the real jason simply must know that yeah and then

00:58:58.560 they're like i know i just still want the picture which then i was like okay this is crazy yeah and

00:59:04.260 this is a real thing i swear to god and it happens so often you like really experience yeah all the

00:59:08.260 time like all the time everywhere i wish i was kidding and then very odd people yeah and then i

00:59:14.080 started making of course because i need attention and i like to be funny totally i start making bits out

00:59:19.340 of it so like one time one time i told them like when they came up they're like oh my god you look

00:59:25.100 just like aquaman and then i started going oh my god thank you and then they were going not you him

00:59:34.240 you're like i'm aquaman oh my god thank you me

00:59:38.740 and then they're like not you him and i'm like i know it's a they're like i would never

00:59:49.060 you could never not you the guy behind you no literally and it's like that a level of attention

00:59:57.480 he was like this is my worst nightmare yeah it was it was really bad and then i remember when i started

01:00:02.500 doing this and then um like maybe the very first time someone ever said anything to me out in public 0.72

01:00:08.480 like they were like oh my god i follow you on tiktok yeah that was so strange i was like damn

01:00:12.460 really and she's like can i get a picture and i was like with me with aquaman yeah i was like with

01:00:18.100 me or aquaman you're like okay we can take a pic but i just want to let you know i'm actually not

01:00:21.860 i do get that a lot though and then we i took a picture and then he told me he goes you know it's

01:00:28.620 my favorite part about that if it gets any bigger i go away he goes no one's ever gonna look at me

01:00:33.080 ever again yeah and i said you damn right king i'll make sure of it secure masculinity

01:00:38.440 never wanting to be looked at he's like i'll hold the camera yeah he's like i'm super cool with that 0.82

01:00:44.500 i never want to be looked at there's also like i'm thinking of people going like how does he handle

01:00:48.900 that it's a little like there's a little part of me that goes you mean how does he handle being

01:00:52.900 with a woman who has a personality and opinions i don't know pray for him like

01:00:57.680 god forbid i know send a prayer up for him so crazy i feel bad for him but i do want to ask you

01:01:06.880 we have some fun facts about you oh my goodness i'm gonna read some off to you and you can tell

01:01:11.160 me about them oh my god um it says on here that you won a high school shakespeare competition for

01:01:15.500 performing a monologue from the taming of the shrew did it was kate's monologue i love that um

01:01:22.620 how was that that was nerd i yeah you're like so we have this fact that's so amazing and then you

01:01:30.480 like shove me into a lot you like take a lot you roll a locker out and then you show me and that's

01:01:35.040 how the episode i gave you a wedgie literally well that that was also on that note of like that was

01:01:41.300 on like kind of in like am i really gonna do it but again but then it's like then i did it and then

01:01:46.980 when you win you don't give a shit about what i think you're like this power i've been gifted i 0.77

01:01:53.540 do not care yeah i i won it it was i won it i i got up there and i i spoke those words 0.57

01:02:00.860 in iambic pentameter and i did it and i won i know that i think my mom has the trophy too it's

01:02:06.540 like plastic shakespeare's hard shakespeare the thing about shakespeare kind of hard

01:02:10.860 most people don't know this i don't know if you guys know this

01:02:15.380 you know when i was in college i took my drama when i took a course in college like that yeah i

01:02:22.040 did i did one and then our last final was a monologue and it had to be from a play what did

01:02:28.000 you do i did viola davis's monologue from fences oh that's awesome with denzel washington which is so

01:02:34.380 intense but i did the the og like stage performance monologue and it's really intense so you can like

01:02:41.700 go there i i think so i'm sure you could i'm waiting for your acting career i think so watch

01:02:48.340 out for me because next thing you know you're getting a text i'm like so i thought of this

01:02:52.060 role for you like next thing you know so be careful i do remember my drama teacher uh wrote on my he

01:02:58.760 like gave me notes i got a good grade on it but he he gave me notes and then um it's mostly about

01:03:03.200 blocking like he was like totally i was too stationary but he told me that he wrote on my thing i i

01:03:08.860 really hope you pursue acting i feel like you would love it because he asked me if i was a

01:03:13.760 theater major and i was like no i'm a that's why i asked yeah it's like i don't know there's sometimes

01:03:17.920 there are those people are on the internet and you're like there's more to this yeah you know

01:03:20.920 what i mean and this this wasn't a new thought yeah i do i and i'm venturing into acting are you

01:03:26.860 taking classes i am gonna start taking that's a great place i feel like i am probably gonna pick

01:03:31.000 your brain about some please especially on self-tapes i feel so humiliated making self-tapes

01:03:35.840 let's talk about that because by the way it's just the worst thing ever ever but let's talk about

01:03:41.300 it yeah oh yeah and then also i know also will call the lovely connor wood yes is plays jack in

01:03:47.640 my audiobook oh no way i was like when he was in the booth i was being so i was like and i was like

01:03:52.720 i think and then moved to new york and get some acting like i become like such a stage mom so be

01:03:58.500 careful but yeah right he would be a great actor i think he's fabulous yeah he's so funny well that's i

01:04:02.780 also love and that this is something experience i've had so much with um making the tiktoks yeah

01:04:08.380 i don't want to say like non-actors because kate connor is totally an actor and i can hear you an

01:04:12.240 actor but like you know someone who might consider themselves or like my friends who work in like

01:04:16.880 sales and then i'm like so you're gonna be in this scene and i'm like and i'm like no no you can

01:04:22.000 do it and by the way there have been times where it's like my friend brings a friend i don't know

01:04:25.800 and then within five minutes i'm like so i have a role for you and it's like you are a writer

01:04:30.820 right well because it's also like you use what's around you and i think that people they think

01:04:36.800 they're supposed to deliver on this thing it's like actually you can do this you know how to

01:04:41.280 react to some like you know how to imitate how you've reacted to something because you're a human

01:04:45.320 being yeah all it is totally and you don't even actually know if you have that that thing within

01:04:50.640 you because a lot of times people do and they didn't know yeah and it's so fun it's been so like

01:04:55.740 i'll have so many moments where like my roommate for example alice who's also a character in my

01:05:01.460 audiobook and my real life for oldest friend and she was a lot of you know my first videos and she's 0.86

01:05:08.360 so monotone she's an icu nurse you know what i mean i'm like she's saving lives i'm making a little

01:05:14.180 ticky tock yeah we're both saving we're both saving lives obviously and she her monotone thing that she

01:05:21.360 does um is so funny it's so contrasting to me yeah and i've gotten so many comments like but but the

01:05:29.740 other girl like you know about her or like my sister i've made things you know like so many people and

01:05:36.280 it's like it's so exciting yeah totally when they can access that you know i think it's like the best

01:05:41.580 ever i love that you think in that way too because i i think about that too especially when you meet new

01:05:45.700 people that you love or you could see so clearly can do stuff you're totally actually i want to put you

01:05:50.640 somewhere yes i love that about you i think that's amazing that's the that's the i love collaborating

01:05:55.580 you love a good collab i love a good club uh it says on here that your middle name is plon oh my god

01:06:01.840 it is you want to explain that to me yeah we're gonna get into that and by the way back to high

01:06:08.180 school trauma the boy which by the way and this goes back to what we were saying probably the only

01:06:12.400 good joke they ever had so i will give it to them every weekend sabrina what are your plons this

01:06:18.400 weekend and and that is a good one and then they're all like and then meanwhile it's like

01:06:25.580 you say it so many gotcha but here's the thing it's a family name it comes from my mom's side

01:06:32.160 i have a little resentment about the fact that so the thing is my mom's name is susan cinnamon

01:06:37.700 why couldn't i have gotten cinnamon i inserted cinnamon actually into my my tiktok username is

01:06:46.320 actually sabrina cinnamon briar okay so i kind of like nixed the plon there my sister got cinnamon

01:06:53.500 she's gabrielle cinnamon briar now brady because she's married yeah um but so it's just a family

01:07:00.420 name and it's just came from that and then it's just my whole life it's been this thing and also it

01:07:06.500 has made me go because people go where does that come from and then i'm like and then i go what

01:07:10.200 about your name like a lot of names are just names you get right you're getting defensive i'm like

01:07:14.300 that's a name quit asking me about plon that's a name but then okay and then this is really random

01:07:19.780 but then when i was at a party for my agency okay just one of those like schmoozy thing yeah and my

01:07:27.220 friend nico and i we walked by john ham and we're like hey john ham like you're you rock hey man you

01:07:34.720 know and we're like yeah you're awesome sorry sorry we won't start to walk away and nico goes

01:07:40.520 hey congrats on just like your life man and like we're like congrats on meeting john ham right and 0.99

01:07:46.040 then we like start to walk away and we're like we're like we're so stupid stupid stupid and then 0.98

01:07:50.620 i swear to god john ham after like a few feet away he goes sabrina and i'm like 0.99

01:07:56.720 yes john ham and he's like uh and then kind of like gestures to his so he was with like his wife

01:08:08.040 and his wife's very good friend okay and um who's also in the industry but she happened to be from

01:08:14.980 boston okay so he was in a little huddle it was john ham john ham's wife and his friend and their

01:08:19.980 friend okay okay so he was actually just waving me over for her but he still said my name right he

01:08:25.800 still said sabrina and i went yes john ham and went back over to them and that woman was like 1.00

01:08:32.920 i know naomi plon like my cousins 0.99

01:08:36.220 i went from plon being this like really weird part of my life that people are so confused about

01:08:44.540 to then kind of like talking about it in front of john ham right and i think a win is a win and a win

01:08:50.120 is a win is a win i'll take it a win is a win and then i and then this person just randomly knew like

01:08:55.240 the part of my family where this name comes from which was very kind of like my mom was adopted so

01:09:00.300 family is kind of all over so it was just like extremely strange specific yeah so for it to be

01:09:05.320 happening like in front of john ham about right right right right on for the win you guys so maybe

01:09:10.140 change your first name to plon plon brier featuring john ham plon john ham brier that's your stripper

01:09:20.580 name that's my new stage name that's it plon john that's it kind of sounds good that actually that

01:09:27.420 works pretty well it kind of sounds good uh and then this last one it says your first job out of

01:09:31.880 college was interning on the tv show scandal so it was actually i interned um actually that was

01:09:37.440 undergrad yeah because i was such a professional that i started but yeah i um i interned my summer

01:09:44.900 before because i i was a camp girl right and so i was going to camp every summer no quicker camp

01:09:51.560 doesn't have anything to do with anything it's really just like this camp where it's like we're chill

01:09:57.160 and we're in the woods right and like it was a lot of brooklyn kids and a lot of philly kids right and

01:10:01.580 like i was like the only connecticut and you're all quakers and the thing is no i think no but the

01:10:07.620 thing about quakerism is it's pretty chill and the only thing we did that was quaker is like meeting for

01:10:11.220 worship where you just kind of sit and like think and you're like hey god yeah and um and it's mostly

01:10:17.240 it was just like hippy dippy like right just kind of a camp that you go to where they're not making you

01:10:21.880 like go on a lake and like i don't like things like that right or like you have to do one sport

01:10:27.900 like right i hate when i camp and i have to go outside no i hate that well you are outside the

01:10:32.480 whole time but you can do anything you want right it's like a fun like anything it's like summer camp 0.89

01:10:37.180 without all the fucking itinerary it's it's like the opposite of a kind of ymca super structured 0.91

01:10:41.880 thing and so um and and like i would have done it for the rest of my life but um i literally was like 0.96

01:10:50.240 had my like 22nd birthday there at quaker yep and um and then eventually i was like okay i i need to

01:10:58.820 have at least one professional experience before i graduate right and enter this really intense

01:11:03.520 industry and i um had a friend who knew um scandal guy and i spent like a year being like so is i here

01:11:11.480 and we've stayed really good friends and because he was a writer and it was just and then he you know

01:11:16.320 they basically just like we're like okay we'll take you freak you know like i was such a

01:11:20.140 fan right um and yeah and i and i interned on scandal season six and how was that it was so

01:11:26.980 fun it's like crazy when it's like you're one of your favorite shows and then it's like in front of

01:11:32.260 you right really wild i've never watched scandal but i i watch clips of it on tiktok hello what's

01:11:38.760 your like fave kind of what shows do you like i'm trying to think if you'd like it i think you all

01:11:43.340 shows i like i'm a big like i watch the same things a million times but when i watch new things

01:11:48.960 it like depends but like i love modern family i love like like a sitcom i do love like i like

01:11:55.660 comedy i like i like the office i mean i like i like bob's burgers but i also love drama shows

01:12:01.600 like house of the dragon or like the last of us okay if you like okay i think if you like anything

01:12:06.520 that's kind of like gets intense and plot plot plot yeah but you like sap right but you do like

01:12:11.700 sap because you like akatar right so you like sap and i don't like it and it's it's actually like if

01:12:17.220 i could watch it for the first time again the things i watch a lot of scenes on tiktok then i

01:12:22.800 would like little like tense they're so and you know and it's also it's so funny because it's so

01:12:28.160 freaking dramatic and it's like every scene it really became a staple where they go off on these

01:12:32.640 crazy monologues it's the most like extra show it's amazing so dramatic i highly recommend yeah i was

01:12:39.440 like i was when i was talking about those romance books or fantasy books i'm reading now when i was

01:12:44.820 talking about them on instagram the other day yeah i was literally saying this series is is like 0.81

01:12:50.360 stressing me out i'm still gonna finish it but it's just crazy like it's like new shit's getting 0.81

01:12:55.000 thrown in every 10 pages that's what scandals like it's really right and i was telling them it feels 0.55

01:12:58.980 like when i tried watching breaking bad for the first time yeah i didn't finish because after each

01:13:03.960 episode to a certain point you're like okay well it can't get any worse than that that's as bad as it's

01:13:08.480 gonna get yes and they're gonna start wrapping it up yeah and then they find a way to make it worse

01:13:12.660 yes that's how i felt watching sons of anarchy same thing i can't watch sons of anarchy because

01:13:17.360 that really messed up scene where the girlfriend dies yeah that's all i'll say because i don't want

01:13:21.640 to be like spoiler queen my sister went can i show you something she went she went okay so just picture

01:13:29.180 this the reason it's so sad is because this girl and he really loves her like so much and it's like

01:13:36.440 she was just like giving me the context as to how it's like the worst because you would never

01:13:40.100 have the emotional context it was already so bloody yeah she made me invested right and she 0.96

01:13:45.640 goes okay now watch shows me this horrific scene so i don't want to get there no sons of anarchy i

01:13:52.160 stopped watching after they killed off opie which is like the long beard long hair too much when they 0.98

01:13:57.620 killed him i said hey fuck this show that's how i felt about vampire diaries did you watch vampire 0.98

01:14:03.440 diaries i'm a really big vampire diaries girl me too when they oh her her yeah yeah i was like when 0.99

01:14:09.820 i go oh let's talk about tvd the main character which that's not even a spoiler because everyone

01:14:14.560 knows that and that's been out for a million that's been out figure it out but are you were

01:14:17.960 you a stephan or a damon girl damon right i knew it i are you well everybody's a damon girl that's

01:14:25.840 why i'm saying i'm like i feel like i'm a stephan girl living in a damon world but what i will say 0.83

01:14:30.400 are you a tamlin girl that's fucking mean that's a mean thing to say to me i've ever said no i 0.98

01:14:36.600 literally um i remember i was balls deep in that show i loved that show that show it's good you're 0.99

01:14:44.420 watching that show and you are a vampire you're watching that show nothing else matters i tried to

01:14:49.220 show my fiancee like probably a few years into dating i'm like let me put you on let me put you

01:14:53.600 on yeah and i put on vampire diaries episode one when they meet for the first time stefan and elena

01:14:58.340 he goes that guy's supposed to be in high school that 38 year old man he couldn't he couldn't turn

01:15:02.880 it off you said i i don't want you to look down on art so i'm gonna actually have to distance myself

01:15:10.660 from this episode where him and elena were like friends forever right the the day i watched that 0.97

01:15:17.280 episode i closed my laptop i said hey fuck this show never watching it again oh so you stopped 0.98

01:15:22.280 watching no i ended up finishing because of them but that was the initial that was the initial i'm out 0.96

01:15:28.320 that's so interesting oh girl but you know who he's later with right yes i do guys i'm sorry i

01:15:34.540 just want to say right now trigger warning we're gonna get into spoilers because i don't want to

01:15:38.800 censor myself um i think that they have so much more chemistry caroline and stefan i thought caroline

01:15:44.540 should have ended up with klaus personally oh yeah i loved that and i guess maybe you can't when

01:15:48.700 someone's such a murderer but actually damon's such a murderer and so and they justified it so

01:15:53.660 it was stefan and i think that was more just because they wanted him on the original i think

01:15:57.680 so too but i agree we wanted that bad when i re-watched it though like recently i watched a few

01:16:02.800 episodes i get it i i get her being with damon like as oh yeah when i initially watched i'm like

01:16:08.760 i'm a stefan girl but then that's my favorite trope ever actor where it's like evil and actually

01:16:15.680 no but actually not evil but actually better for you and actually and better for you and also maybe

01:16:20.920 they're evil because they make the tough choices you know what i mean they're willing to do what

01:16:24.720 they're willing to do and he she will he will do anything for his woman and is that evil or is that

01:16:29.120 love you know what i mean i love that also i'm a virgo so like if i don't get the ending i want

01:16:35.040 i quit so when i you sense it coming right have you ever watched and i can and i can tell i can

01:16:41.320 predict it because i'm always right as a virgo but also have you watched the summer i turned pretty

01:16:45.880 um first season okay so i don't know about i know shit gets crazy but watch season two okay that's 0.98

01:16:53.020 one of those corny ass shows where i'm like oh i'm locked into this shit yeah age new season oh i'm 12 0.98

01:16:59.160 i'm 14 right there with you girl i just got my period and i'm watching the summer and we're gonna 0.99

01:17:05.840 turn okay i will watch it this because it's like you watch it in the summer right and also like

01:17:10.060 has so much taylor swift music i know like i need the soundtrack goes crazy on that show but i read

01:17:14.740 the book so i know how the show i know how the books end but i don't know how the show is gonna

01:17:19.060 end okay but the third book like i i read it to a point where i found out the ending i wanted wasn't

01:17:25.080 gonna happen close it haven't finished it really yeah because i have my ending you're like writing a

01:17:29.580 letter i wrote it in here yeah maybe you should do fanfic i am actually when i was younger i wrote

01:17:35.020 fanfiction okay i'm well this is exactly about the jonas brother that's my truth everyone here

01:17:42.060 knows that already

01:17:43.080 i have written jonas brother fanfiction they have their purity rings on

01:17:48.920 no they well yes but no but i had miley cyrus was in my story selena gomez was in my story

01:17:54.900 selena gomez was the enemy though i'm so sorry selena sorry selena

01:17:58.580 oh sorry about that miley cyrus was my hero in the story you know what's crazy is i wrote the

01:18:04.060 fanfic and i'm not in it yeah what that's kind of the point that's kind of the i literally didn't

01:18:09.380 even write myself in the story that shows you're such a raider seriously i mean that's what you're

01:18:14.380 doing as a young person with your time like that's so like what initiative i know you're like

01:18:18.120 this wasn't right let me fix it right and how old are you i'm 30 okay i'm gonna be 30 this year 0.96

01:18:22.920 so we're around the same age i wrote by hand i wrote that shit in a notebook did you then like 0.84

01:18:27.420 do you still have it no i can't find it i thought it was my you have to find that i know i told my 0.96

01:18:32.100 followers i would read it to them you have to find that and pay someone to transcribe it

01:18:35.560 or or go do like ayahuasca or something and like transcribe it yourself and it'll be like

01:18:42.120 really spiritual i should write it into a screenplay yeah invite all my friends over for a party yeah

01:18:47.620 instead i make them read my screenplay and it's a live reading and i'm the main character

01:18:52.280 fine pull my leg i'll be there i'll set up the rehearsal space but um no and also i'm now i'm

01:19:01.240 kind of like okay but also about vampire diaries yeah let's talk let's go back let's go back it's

01:19:05.000 so important to me i i also will say too i think well do you did you get to the end yeah so i know

01:19:13.860 what happens you know what happens at the end yes i just think it's so tragic right i agree i think

01:19:18.280 it's too sad and that last episode where she's like having those moments with all of them again

01:19:23.100 i sobbed oh you're like i'm back we are so bad no oh do you know how hard how hard i've cried

01:19:32.440 like okay when caroline's mom dies i couldn't do it she throws out the letter girl she burns the

01:19:39.800 letter from her mom that show made me sob so many times it's so sad and also like the brother

01:19:45.700 when they find each other on the other side yes they find each other on the other side

01:19:49.960 that's hard there's not enough of us oh no there's not enough and you know what i you start to if you

01:19:59.260 start to like um scroll and start to engage with the vampire diaries you start to realize there's a

01:20:03.940 whole community well because you know i have conventions should we go we should i will go with

01:20:08.640 you i've been talking about this for a long time i would love to go with you should go we should

01:20:13.020 and we should dress up as the characters okay i'm carol no i guess i'll be carol i'm caroline and

01:20:17.540 you're elena yes obviously and caleb is close he's puppeteering us from fucking afar and he goes 0.98

01:20:28.120 hello and he's so sexy obviously he's so sexy and i think that they go and i think that it's in

01:20:36.340 mystic falls no way because it's a real oh so it's like the twilight stuff like when they go to the

01:20:42.680 the twilight place yeah the actual house and i'm pretty sure it's like where you can go whatever

01:20:47.520 the like diner they have the mystic grill like you can go and i'm pretty sure they have like you

01:20:52.340 can get like a drink that's in a blood bag i like what you're saying i think when it sounds like you've

01:20:58.900 done a lot of research and i think they have a website and i think it's i think it also takes

01:21:04.260 place i think that it's in virginia i think that you get to go a guided tour of the houses

01:21:09.800 and i think these things i'm not sure but i but again i'm such a loose fan let's go i would love

01:21:16.120 to we literally love to go i just go i'm like tweaking a little perfect perfect we have our plans

01:21:21.800 now our summer god that is so exciting that's gonna be like the most important plan of the summer

01:21:26.140 but do you know what i mean yeah absolutely they gotta bring that back i would love that

01:21:31.020 drama shows like that i don't think he's acting in it but did you see that um

01:21:35.800 what's the name of the app paul paul wesley yeah did you see that he's in this new project

01:21:41.040 where he or there's a project in development he's an executive producer and it's about

01:21:46.340 a vampire who moves to la to become an actor hold on i swear to god i'll send you our name

01:21:54.120 sabrina let's be in our name guys paul wesley if you're watching to be in that thank you i'll be a

01:22:00.260 38 year old in that show everyone is watching looking at the tv i'm like paul wesley is watching

01:22:05.860 this paul wesley is watching my mom is watching it yes all my all my most avid viewers isn't that

01:22:11.040 kind of cutie i thought that was a kind of fun i just said it's gonna be cunty too i'm sure 0.79

01:22:16.320 i i think that's a really fun idea i love it what a funny little kind of like bojack horseman vibe

01:22:22.080 hell yeah but how creative paul i love paul we love your stuff and we like your bourbon

01:22:27.960 send us some okay so before we wrap i would love to know what is your like best piece of advice for

01:22:38.080 women especially um who are really want to pursue acting or really want to pursue any sort of

01:22:44.000 entertainment um art form and maybe feel a little nervous like you were describing how you felt or

01:22:49.320 like feeling judged or worried about being judged like what would you say is your best piece of advice

01:22:53.740 for them i think the world of being an artist being an actor comedian like anything kind of adjacent to

01:22:59.660 that's a very social world which i think can be an amazing thing it's community building but i think

01:23:06.020 sometimes you get a little you forget that actually what you're really there to do is you really do have

01:23:11.700 to actually just like focus inward more and totally focus on making sure you like yes building community

01:23:19.140 and making connections and networking is a huge part of things but at the end of the day

01:23:23.180 it's about getting your training it's about i think um the best actors and i think a lot of

01:23:30.520 professional lifelong actors would say that they're studying their whole lives you know so i think just

01:23:35.580 recognizing that rolling up your sleeves and being a student is not a bad thing yeah it's a huge

01:23:43.360 you're always going to be learning and i think i think that i would say don't focus on what it looks

01:23:49.560 like from the outside in that way focus on again if it really is the thing you want to be doing which

01:23:55.760 only you really know that and that's this kind of like internal fire that is undeniable when it's there

01:24:01.880 um do it especially if you're like not to say you can't start when you're not young but i think

01:24:07.680 especially if you're young yeah well i want to act but i also you know i need to be at a corporate job

01:24:13.860 then figure then do that and then use some money to take acting classes right it's like i think if you

01:24:19.540 have that drive it's not really ever going to go away yeah so you got to do something about it yeah

01:24:23.540 totally and you'll make it happen if you really want it to happen and and that's the thing too i think

01:24:28.320 if you really want it it is a little of like the type of thing that it's like it's not about if you do it

01:24:34.820 you just are going to do it and it's going to be really hard and sometimes it'll you'll get lucky

01:24:41.100 and then it'll be really hard for many years after that and then you'll get lucky again and

01:24:44.680 it's just a lot of twists and turns so i think it's really just that that internal strength of

01:24:49.600 knowing it's it's who you are you have to kind of stick to that totally i feel like a lot of my

01:24:55.260 guests i've had that are like you too like they've been in traditional entertainment before this and then

01:24:59.400 now they're kind of running them at the same time they've all said similar to what you've said

01:25:04.260 like the whole point is to is to be able to make the art it's not to like garner any sort of

01:25:10.480 accolade from it like the that defeats the purpose of making art i think their accolades are nice and

01:25:15.480 attention and fame is nice and obviously it's perfect but it works well within the career but

01:25:20.580 that's not the point like what you're saying yeah it can't be the reason you have to love it for

01:25:24.760 for you have to love acting in a room with two other people yeah reading a script and like acting

01:25:31.640 right you have to love that version of acting because that's actually the reality yeah it's

01:25:36.200 like most of it right like you were saying like self-tapes are the worst the worst the most humiliating

01:25:42.080 thing you could ever do and and you don't have to like love that because that sucks no you have to

01:25:48.180 kind of love the fact that you know you're doing that work the process right yeah and and also i do

01:25:54.380 think that i've heard advice too on self-tapes that i'll one day learn to follow that like you do if

01:25:59.180 you can kind of try to make it positive right then that is also another another amazing muscle to like

01:26:05.560 you know yeah like because i i auditioning the process in general i'm for sure going to pick

01:26:10.780 your brain about afterwards but it's like i need to talk about it's like super daunting to me it's

01:26:15.660 daunting it's very vulnerable yeah it's very you literally feel like you're like in a forest alone

01:26:23.100 and you're like shouting and you're like did that echo like that you know it's a very weird thing

01:26:27.760 yeah it's very unnatural and i think a lot of professional actors will say too it's like

01:26:31.600 it's like um a necessary evil but it's not even like really natural a natural part of acting no

01:26:36.940 about it yeah not at all it's because it's actually not really acting i think that's something i've

01:26:41.000 learned maybe because i'm so like big yeah it's actually like you're kind of just supposed to kind

01:26:46.260 of just be like here's what i look like here's my little face let me say the words and think the

01:26:50.360 thoughts and like tell me if you want me to be in your thing you know what i mean that's actually a

01:26:54.820 great way of looking at it yeah you know what's funny is um did you ever watch drake and josh

01:26:58.280 of course yeah there was do you remember the episode where uh they get cast in like or josh

01:27:04.480 gets cast as like the theater thug in like one of those crime reenactment shows yes and then there's

01:27:09.240 a part where drake just comes in and he's like oh they're filming the commercial in here you have to

01:27:13.060 leave and he was like ah it's just acting who cares he goes yeah it's hard like he was like

01:27:17.460 studying forever yes what is acting you show up you say some stuff you go home yeah yeah i i'm not

01:27:22.940 kidding since i've started doing auditions i'm like that's how i'm gonna look at you have to look

01:27:26.340 at so it's not too like married to it and you can't have too much behind you can't care so much

01:27:31.600 yeah because the other thing too is you're wasting so much energy if you care in a way that's like

01:27:36.000 this means everything about who i am as a performer totally because it doesn't has everything to do

01:27:41.040 with looks and it's like you could have been better but the other person looked the role and he 0.71

01:27:46.660 didn't and and you're sitting there going i suck it's like no you actually you know it's like 0.93

01:27:52.300 that is the work yeah doing it and doing it and doing it find a role that fits you right or that's 0.98

01:27:57.580 a great way of looking oh yeah you have to you because rejection is part of it you have to literally

01:28:01.840 not you have to go okay it's like you have to literally like not actually i mean it sounds so 0.50

01:28:06.520 stupid not take it to heart but like you actually literally can't it would be illogical to take it to 0.66

01:28:10.240 heart because it actually is not about how good of an actor is no not at all it's not it has 1.00

01:28:15.940 everything to do with you know and then when you start to kind of make things yeah the other side of

01:28:20.740 casting yeah you're like oh yeah like i would love to have that person i don't have a role for

01:28:25.220 them yeah you know what i mean that's such a good point so and you've been on both sides so now you

01:28:29.660 know like very clearly totally it's truly just a right fit i yeah you've like when assistants i've

01:28:35.780 talked to assistants about this where it's like you you've seen like showrunners like it's like

01:28:39.740 imagine how much work people put in you've seen a showrunner kind of go like someone brings up a

01:28:43.500 laptop it's like no like like one second of the video because again it's like you know what the

01:28:48.860 vision is and you know if that person's not the vision that's crazy which also but it's so freeing

01:28:53.900 crazy but it's also freeing to know that because then it takes the pressure off you and then you

01:28:58.560 have to look at it as have fun i accomplish it's like when you upload a video and you're like i

01:29:02.680 really thought that was gonna go viral and like it didn't you're like i suck but it's like okay but 0.67

01:29:06.100 i posted something like you have to look at it like that no that's such a that's such a good way of

01:29:10.540 looking at it makes it far less like personally oh yeah like taxing of course but then the ironic

01:29:17.920 thing is that like actors are like there's no one who takes things more personally so that's it's

01:29:22.680 like falling on deaf ears well yeah for real it's like that's your being an actor it's i'm i'm also

01:29:28.180 a writer and i i'm i really am like a director and i yeah you know um and i think a huge part of that

01:29:33.940 is like i do think there's a part of me that couldn't totally handle just being an actor because

01:29:37.540 i mean that is people who were it's like that's their whole whole thing and like i have like a really

01:29:43.220 good friend who's on broadway and it's like that's all the life and it's like i'm like wow because

01:29:48.640 the resilience that you have to have you have to be the most sensitive person ever and also the most

01:29:53.680 resilient person ever and those things are in contrast yeah yeah it's a crazy life yeah but it's 0.57

01:29:59.460 worth it and i truly i am i want to give you more flowers like i think you are so fucking funny and 0.96

01:30:05.880 brilliant and i'm so glad that like now the internet knows too because obviously the entertainment world's

01:30:34.820 and we should get daylight rings obviously with like a thing yet or something but again i don't know

01:30:41.000 i don't really care by the way i don't give up if we do any of it well thank you so much for coming
