00:00:25.440today. Conditions apply. This one says that Erica's dream man is Joe Jonas. Yes! Not true. Scott is her
00:00:34.200dream man. Hey everyone and welcome back to another episode of the comment section show
00:00:46.620starring me, your fave. Everybody knows me, cares about me. On to the guests. Today we have another
00:00:51.320banger all-star episode. One of my favorite couples of all time. Erica and Scotty. Woo!
00:01:00.080Welcome back team. Thank you. Oh my gosh. I'm so happy to have you both. Thanks. It's always
00:01:04.080fun. It is. It's a blast. We haven't seen each other in two years. But it's been a ride. So
00:01:12.840much to catch up on. We have a lot to catch up on. And we were catching up before this. Yes
00:01:14.840we were. Talking about people we hate. We were. We loved that. My favorite thing to do. Yeah.
00:01:18.840Favorite thing to do. That's my favorite thing to do in this industry especially. Oh my god. When
00:01:22.840you meet people and you're like who's someone you hate. Yeah. And when you both have the
00:01:28.600same person. Yeah. It's like you guys. Yeah. I feel like that meme levitating. Yeah that's
00:01:33.600what I feel. Literally. No that was us two seconds ago. I'm so excited to have you guys back. Thanks.
00:01:39.600How's life been? Good. Life has been great. I got no complaints. I can't remember if you
00:01:43.600what'd you say? No complaints. No complaints. Perfect. I can't remember if you guys were married
00:01:47.600when you were here last. We were. I think so. You had just got married. I think so. Okay
00:01:51.960cool. Wow. It's been so long. And we are unmarried since then. But we're great friends. We're
00:01:59.240doing an announcement. We have a couple ads to get through. Please engage. Please support.
00:02:06.740Yeah. No. Everything's been great. We're honestly so blessed. Love. Yeah. What's new? What's
00:02:12.440new in careers for y'all? I know you're in Peacock shows. Thank you. Oh my gosh. Thanks for
00:02:17.460bringing it up. Yes. I was in their testing out short form kind of series and I was lucky
00:02:25.940to be a part of three out of the four and Scott was in two out of the four. Okay. Period.
00:02:31.460So we're actors. One of them the quickest cameo you've ever seen but I'm in two. Period.
00:02:35.460One I did pretty good. You did. You did great. Yeah. That's like the newest and just you know
00:02:42.100really taking acting serious. That's always been the goal. I love. And Scotty you have
00:02:47.220a clothing brand. I do. Which how's that going? Very good. Very good. This I'm doing like a kind
00:02:53.080of like a part two to my second collection. Very cool. Toe bags and hats will be releasing
00:02:59.340first day of summer. June 20th. The shit is cool. Thank you so much. I love it. Thank you. I think
00:03:04.580that's so awesome. Power couple. Trying. Trying. I was trying to convince. I was trying
00:03:10.180to convince them that they need to do a podcast. Yeah. We we talk about it. We want to just
00:03:14.820do like a different kind of like version of it. Yeah. We're I don't know. We have some
00:03:20.880ideas for sure but it's definitely not something that's out of the question. Us with consistency
00:03:25.540is a um. That is a big one. Thanks for bringing that up. Just to uh piggyback on what you were
00:03:30.420saying. Um. It's hard for us to get on the schedule. For real. Yeah. When you work for
00:03:36.180yourself it's real hard. Here's the thing. We have so much time. Yeah. That's the thing.
00:03:40.420So much time. Yeah. I like have nothing but time. It's just to dedicate it. Get it all
00:03:45.040set up. I just am not organized but you know um. You know. We're gonna get there. We'll see.
00:03:50.780We're gonna be talking more in front of a camera if you want us to or not. Yeah. Whether
00:03:54.300whether anyone asks for it or not. Yeah. Nobody asked me and I will. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. We're
00:03:59.720gonna be there. That's the vibe. That's the vibe. I love that. And you're taking acting
00:04:03.260seriously. I actually just started venturing into acting this year. Oh. Go on. Right.
00:04:07.540And so I'm. I've done it. I think it's really fun. I just also think it's a huge joke at the
00:04:13.660same time. Right. This is why. Because sometimes when you do auditions or reads or whatever and
00:04:18.540then you find out who got cast or you hear about other casts and you're like. Right.
00:04:21.600Also it's all just made up. Yep. It all just like depends on their vibe. Yeah. No. You
00:04:26.280really can't. Yeah. They're like everything's perfect except I hate your eyes. Yeah. I'm
00:04:30.460gonna pick somebody else. There's nothing you can do about it but if I can look past it
00:04:34.780we'll get through it. Yeah. I'm not looking past. I can't see it. I'm not looking past. It's
00:04:38.860just luck. It really is just luck I feel. Yeah. It's dumb luck in a lot of ways. Yeah. Skill
00:04:43.540too but obviously I think like casting nowadays a lot of times it's like truly based off
00:04:48.240what they think the characters. Yeah. Yeah. Not you. Sorry. Only reason I've ever been
00:04:53.940casted was because my friends are the ones that wrote their shows. So. That's how I'm
00:04:58.260planning on getting into. Right. Right. I'm going in a back door. Fuck you guys. Hey. The
00:05:02.200door's available. You go in. You'll be like I can't do it. It's open. Yeah. It's open.
00:05:08.040Listen. I'm going to take every and any opportunity. A hundred percent. Have you been doing acting
00:05:12.480classes or anything? Yeah. Last year I did a one year acting class and this year I want
00:05:18.980to start doing improv. Fun. Yeah. I'm scared. That was your second class though right? Yeah.
00:05:24.860Well it was like my first like one year program. I did like little like seven week programs here
00:05:30.720in there but yeah I want to just yeah try out improv improv and see how it goes. You would kill
00:05:37.640improv. I don't know. I think you're built for improv to be honest. I don't I could barely talk
00:05:41.880now so I don't know how that would even be possible. Because this is like I feel like actors a lot of
00:05:46.580times too they're like being myself is a lot harder than being somebody else. For sure. So like being
00:05:51.240myself feels too vulnerable so I like playing other characters. Yeah that makes sense. Maybe that's why
00:05:55.500you're like playing a character. Yeah maybe. Magda had a wig right here. This is perfect improv right now.
00:06:01.280It's actually a great transition. No thank you so much. We're actually trying it out now live.
00:06:06.500I've done a couple reads. I did. I like low-key bullied uh the studio that is making the live
00:06:11.960action Moana into giving me a release. What's the latest? Yeah. Well um nothing. Clearly I'm here.
00:06:16.980Uh they're currently feeling it. They're bringing it up. I didn't. It's actually really hard for me to
00:06:22.560talk about. Um no uh but the funny part about that is that I made a TikTok joking about it because I
00:06:29.120was saying like was anyone gonna fucking call me? There's only two of us and one of them's already
00:06:34.060in it so what the fuck? Like I'm built like the rock too. Why did nobody call me? Like I was all pissed
00:06:39.280off and I'm on on a TikTok. I like made it and it did well and then Deadline wrote an article about it
00:06:45.360and they wrote they quoted me as the headline. They said Drew Afuala says I'll play Moana's dad
00:06:50.020if that's what it takes. Hey why is that the one line you clicked? The headlines are insane.
00:06:54.960Won't you click that one? I said a lot of other things too but that's the one they pulled and then
00:07:00.100it was almost like uh like public pressure. They sent me uh like they were like oh I didn't know
00:07:05.780Drew was interested in acting. Reading so they sent me like background roles. Oh that's cool. And so
00:07:10.620they sent all men mind you and it was like it was coconut farmer one angry coconut farmer and then
00:07:17.900like fisherman and I wanted to. So what did you read for? I read for all three of them. Okay. I said
00:07:22.600Which one would you have wanted the most? Angry? Oh the angry. I wanted fisherman because he had the
00:07:28.140most lines. Okay. So I was like he obviously he him because in the script it says he and so I read
00:07:34.240for all of them didn't get one. We're out here trying you know what I'm doing my best and you
00:07:41.320know how I found out what's funny about how I found out is I was talking to one of my other buddies at
00:07:45.340like a AAPI event and we were chatting and I was like oh yeah I did a read for like the live action
00:07:51.180one and I did a couple reads he goes oh really that's cool and I go yeah he goes yeah they're
00:07:55.600filming right now in Georgia right and I go actually I didn't know that. It's like my friends
00:08:00.180the fishermen. Yeah I was like I actually have a couple of calls to make. I'll be right back. He's killing it out there. I finally came out like that. Yeah my sister was sitting. My sister was sitting and I was like I actually didn't know that. Believe it or not. You're just waiting here back. No I'm hyped about it. Any day now. They might be filming my part later on. My call time is I'm sure later.
00:08:19.800No that's crazy. It is a really hard industry though. It's crazy. Yeah. It is crazy. There's a lot of competition but I know I was born to be a star. So I will not give up. That's true. I won't give up you know. So neither should you. I want you and Moana. Yeah you guys both have it. How about that? Yeah. How about that? How about that? What about you Scotty? Did you have fun acting? I had a great time. I think it's fun. I think it's a good time. I think honestly it was way like I took it. I was like oh
00:08:49.620I'm gonna kill it. I got scared. Like right? Like it's my boy. You need that too. People like me. Everyone's streaming on Peacock. My friend Darren, Ava, Jonathan. They wrote amazing shows. And they're like so down to earth. And I'm like so comfortable with all of them. And it was like we sat down. Excuse me. And he was like all right go ahead. And I was like I lost everything. I was like my eyes went big. I was like are you good? I was like give me a second. Jeez relax.
00:09:19.620It was so much fun. So many lights. So many mics. So many people. And then you got to do it again and again. Different angles. And I was like it was so much fun. It was the best experience ever. But I was like it's a lot. Yeah. I freaked out. And one of my scenes to the point where the audio guy came in and said we're gonna have to run that again because I couldn't hear you over your heartbeat. Are you having a panic attack? Damn calm down.
00:09:43.620Literally. No. He was mad Spanish too. He filmed it in Telemundo. So he was mad Hispanic. So he came in. He's like no we're gonna have to do that again.
00:09:52.620Te está dando un ataque de pánico. You're having a panic attack. He's like we're gonna have to do it again. He said it mad loud in front of everyone. I was like.
00:10:01.440So now I know. This one's fucking nervous. Oh my. And I do it too. So now I fucking I know to get mic'd on not on top of my heart. That's a learning experience. It's all an experience. It's a learning experience. We just live and we learn. How would we figure that out without that? No that is. We live and we learn. That's very real. Especially. Do you ever get nervous?
00:10:20.440The only time I've ever been nervous was when I did stand up for the first time. Did you win? Yeah. I did. There's so much meaning to catch up on. Yeah. We have so much to catch up. Two years. Two years. That's why we do it. I did a Caleb. My friend Caleb Heron. I love him. Yeah. I love him. Fucking funny. Yeah. One of the funniest people alive. Whatever. For real. Top. Yeah. I fucking hate him. He's so weird. He's just so natural. He is. You want to talk about someone who will fuck it. I hate him. He's the best. He's following me. He's fisherman. He's got the fucking thing. He's a fisherman. I bet. I bet. That's DEI.
00:10:49.940They're cutting DEI. That's why they took him and not me. Of course. Obviously. Of course. But he was doing a closing show for his tour at the Largo in LA and he asked me to do 15 and it was because I had told him another comedian asked me to do 15 later on in the year and this was last year and I was like asking him for help. I was like I'd love some guidance on how to write it and stuff and he was like. Experience. Yeah. And he told me he's like bitch if you're gonna do 15 for her you gotta do 15 for me because he's been asking me forever.
00:11:19.940And I was like I just don't. And he was like you have to do it for me if you're gonna do it for her. I'm your actual friend. I was like all right. Relax. Don't pull that gun on me.
00:11:29.600And so then he actually helped me build my 15. And I did the Largo with him and Chris Fleming. Do you guys know Chris Fleming? One of the funniest people to ever exist. I've told Chris Fleming I'm like if you know how like you know when football players like sometimes they're like donate my brain to science. When Chris Fleming when something happens to him knock on wood I call dibs on the brain. I said I call dibs on my brain. I got it. I'm cutting.
00:11:59.600A joke in one of his stands where he's talking about the SNL 50th. Okay. Like and he was like does anyone know if SNL's been celebrating anything lately? It hasn't really been that obvious.
00:12:08.600Because they kept talking about it for a while. Everything. Yeah. And then he was he called Jimmy Fallon the Smee to Lorne Michaels Captain Hook.
00:12:17.640And I was like I'll kill you. I'll kill you with a fucking gun. I literally was like are you insane? I was like my brain could never. My brain could never. I laughed so hard tears ran down my face. I can't stand that motherfucker.
00:12:28.800Some people are just quick. Yeah. He's crazy. His brain works in a way that I could never conceive. So I had no idea he was the other opener on Caleb's show. He told me when I got there and I was like oh so fuck me then. Okay perfect.
00:12:41.160So I opened for I have never in my life been that nervous. And I think it's because I love stand-up. Like stand-up has been like one of my favorite art forms. Yeah. It's like one of the ones I'm actively avoiding because I'm so afraid.
00:12:52.880Bitch you would kill it. You would kill it. Were you nervous the whole time? You're quick as fuck too. Yeah. I was nervous the whole time. Like start to finish. Yeah. Even as soon as I got out there. And Caleb even told me he said don't open with anything like this is my first time.
00:13:04.800Like don't open with anything like that. Okay. He was like because then people will start judging your jokes as if they know. And I was like okay. So when he introduced me I was the first one. Chris Fleming was second. And then obviously Caleb.
00:13:15.440When I went up I got a huge applause because he asked me do you want me to promote it? And I was like no I don't want to promote it because I'm afraid.
00:13:22.600Oh that's cool. That's cool. But also I was like also I want to see if I'm funny. Like I don't I know I love my fans. I think I think they know what funny is. But I also think they'll laugh at anything I say. For sure. Yeah.
00:13:31.420So I wanted to find out for real. Like if I'm funny. And he was like I think that's so brave. Well I guess we'll see.
00:13:36.540I was like yeah you're right. We will. And I got a huge like a huge applause because nobody knew I was going to be there.
00:13:44.020And then when I came out I was like bigger applause than Caleb. Perfect. I love that. Started strong. Keep that up throughout the whole thing.
00:13:51.440And I even told Caleb I was like it's okay if it goes bad I put a gun under everyone's seat and I have another way of ending it. Trust me.
00:13:57.120Either everyone laughs. Everyone knows it's a surprise. Or it's over. Or no one goes home. How's that?
00:14:01.420Or that was your last chance to laugh. Go ahead and giggle for me. But that's the only time I've ever really been nervous.
00:14:07.580Wow. Are you happy you did it? I'm glad I did it. I am. It was really fun. But I was like I do need to work on some stuff.
00:14:15.300But I was like I don't know how the fuck they memorize it to be honest. Like sometimes they'll write notes just so they know taglines for their jokes.
00:14:21.880Right. Right. Right. Memorizing an entire hour is just crazy to me.
00:14:25.140I don't know how they do it. Also like if there is some crowd work trickled in there too. Right. You lost me.
00:14:30.560I'd be like where was I? Wait where'd you get those pants?
00:14:32.920Like that's what I literally would get so distracted. I'd be like where was I? Wait.
00:14:38.180I'd be asking the crowd. I'd say where was I at? Where was I at guys? Do you guys remember?
00:14:42.720I knew I was with the pants and pants. What did I say? What did I say? Seriously.
00:14:46.040No actually that would be me. So yeah it's really I don't know how they do it.
00:14:50.560Me either. And also I always think about it where it's like when they go on tour you're you're saying a couple different new jokes but like you're saying the same routine.
00:14:59.780I'm like you really got to believe it each time.
00:15:02.000No for real. You're acting. You are really acting because you're like it's like no one's ever heard this before but last night everyone did and laughed.
00:15:09.580Yo. At my last show like I would really I don't know if I could keep laughing. I'm saying the jokes all types are different now.
00:15:18.440You guys have terrible taste. I hate that joke.
00:15:24.980That's so true though because I when I went on tour last year with my sister for Two Idiot Girls for the book tour we did 22 dates 22 shows.
00:15:33.600So like live shows and they're user generated so we do get dating horror stories from the audience.
00:15:39.520The one we always pick is what's the worst thing they did and you stayed because it always has a hilarious answer to it.
00:15:45.220And so we collect them after the meet and greet we collect them pick the funniest ones and then we kind of riff for like 20 minutes and then the rest of the show is reading those and then talking to the audience.
00:15:55.000So it's like it's a really fun show but it was one of those things where it kind of similar to the stand-up bit where certain jokes would work in certain cities but sometimes they wouldn't hit in others.
00:16:05.180So like I remember we were in we were in where we Dallas we're in Dallas and for some reason oh because we watch Planet of the Apes on the tour bus and we love that franchise.
00:16:15.280I don't know what it is but we're just really down with the monkey movies.
00:16:17.880So we we kept I kept making this joke Apes together strong I was like that's us to you guys every time we make a joke you laugh because Apes together strong I made that joke probably 32 times that night killed every time they were like I brought that house down with that Apes joke next city we went to still in Texas went to another city I made it one time in the beginning not one laugh oh put it back on the shelf never mind.
00:16:43.220Oh so the Apes aren't hidden here maybe you guys didn't hear me the first time did you guys get that you guys know what I'm saying right the movie the Planet of the Apes you guys are familiar there's a lot of Planet of Apes they all go and everyone's like that's why I was like right so they don't laugh at Apes here right I was really banking on that Apes for like the rest of the night and I honestly like I was so confident in it because I couldn't believe as many times as I whipped it out they laughed and I was like damn Texas really thinks monkeys are funny they love that movie
00:17:13.220in Dallas I relate not in all parts I guess that is crazy yeah it's weird it's so like temperamental yeah and then there's also like certain areas I know I can make jokes like when we were in the PNW made a couple like feelings this is where gay people come to learn how to communicate and course correct people is the PNW and so I made a couple jokes like that brought the house down now could I make those jokes in fucking Austin Texas absolutely not they won't
00:17:43.140laugh there are just certain things you know yeah whether or not it's gonna hit yeah even in Austin I made a couple jokes about the Ironclaw brothers I was like aren't they from Austin and they were like yeah I was like yeah and they left
00:17:53.540really just depends on the vibe oh and our opening night show was in New York is at the Gramercy Theater here
00:18:02.700and I told this story about like I think it was like a couple years ago we were in New York and we were driving
00:18:08.480and we were in this like party bus because I didn't pay for it like the brand like bought this
00:18:12.700insane party bus but there's only three of us
