00:01:41.900 I have never in my life been harassed by gay people

00:01:44.780 like I was when I met y'all.

00:01:46.660 So I just need you to know that.

00:01:48.320 Never in my life have I been harassed by us.

00:01:50.600 Wait, what?

00:01:51.180 In a good way?

00:01:52.020 In a beautiful way.

00:01:53.360 and it's still scary but still beautiful let's keep it beautiful they just do not 0.78

00:01:57.860 fucking play about you guys yeah at all which i appreciate it i think it's wonderful we saw 0.71

00:02:03.740 thank you for holding us down our tour our production manager ivan barry sent us like a 0.98

00:02:10.340 a page from a book that his girlfriend is reading right this was iconic that was like um

00:02:16.380 detective detective detective a butch detective that's interviewing like a woman who is is like

00:02:26.240 trying to like signify that she's gay right and so she like starts playing moon on the phone and 0.56

00:02:33.440 then like acts like it's like i love this song yeah that's your legacy that we've made it into 0.92

00:02:39.980 these like into these fiction books really funny ass it does seem very smutty it was pretty sweet

00:02:47.440 yeah i think i need to i think i need to i love smut i love smut too i love detective why not 0.82

00:02:53.540 i don't you're not reading smut you're just reading i'm reading like the most bad crime

00:02:57.140 novels i'm just reading like the most scary thing that you could be reading i have to be honest with

00:03:01.740 you i i started reading one of the books or i started listening to one of the books by the

00:03:06.800 author that you read.

00:03:08.220 Yeah, I'm gonna name her name.

00:03:10.120 You name her name, I don't know.

00:03:11.700 Okay. 1.00

00:03:12.960 Expose her.

00:03:13.980 Yeah, right.

00:03:14.800 Best-selling crime author. 0.85

00:03:15.800 Her name is Karen Slaughter.

00:03:17.260 I'm sure it's not her real name.

00:03:18.640 I think it's probably-

00:03:19.480 Slaughter is an issue.

00:03:20.320 That would be crazy if it was her real name. 0.98

00:03:22.200 That would be crazy.

00:03:23.040 I don't find it to actually be that good. 1.00

00:03:24.460 She's born into a career path.

00:03:26.220 The writing is not the best.

00:03:28.080 Insanely bad.

00:03:29.080 But you know, sometimes that's what you're looking for.

00:03:32.040 No, I like that.

00:03:32.880 That's what you're looking for. 1.00

00:03:33.720 You're like, let's move the plot so I can fuck. 1.00

00:03:36.040 I like that song so I can fuck again in a different way. 1.00

00:03:39.040 Different outfit. 0.98

00:03:39.780 I like the, because I listen to the audio book.

00:03:42.920 I like the person who's reading the book.

00:03:45.020 There's something like that it's doing to me subconsciously

00:03:48.860 where I'm just like, I'm safe.

00:03:51.320 Okay.

00:03:51.720 Like the fact that the writing is bad.

00:03:54.160 No, sometimes I don't feel that.

00:03:56.140 No, but it's just how I am.

00:03:57.800 Like there's something about the bad writing that feels safe.

00:04:00.340 Oh, yeah.

00:04:01.220 What the hell is that? 0.98

00:04:02.180 What the hell? 0.99

00:04:02.920 What the hell? 0.99

00:04:04.060 They do not like bad writing.

00:04:06.040 No, honestly, though, I do, I can understand that it doesn't hit, bad writing doesn't hit

00:04:11.080 me like that, but I do like bad art sometimes.

00:04:13.760 Yeah, totally.

00:04:14.620 You need to.

00:04:15.380 All art is valid.

00:04:16.480 Good or bad.

00:04:17.000 You need bad art, actually.

00:04:18.160 Yes, exactly.

00:04:18.800 It's like I'm interested in all forms.

00:04:21.420 Sometimes bad art, in a way, is better than good art in a way that it makes me feel.

00:04:25.360 Right, especially when I watch, like, if I watch, like, a cringy-ass show that's, like,

00:04:29.040 not good.

00:04:29.980 Sometimes they'll be like, why would you watch that?

00:04:31.660 And I'm like, well, I know it's not going to win an Emmy.

00:04:33.420 Right.

00:04:33.620 Well, no, I'm enjoying myself. 0.97

00:04:35.160 i think i think they're like i think in this day and age of like actual like shit media right you 0.82

00:04:41.840 have to have different levels of media that you consume because you're just trying to avoid

00:04:46.920 the base level media in which we are fed right i agree that's what that those novels are for me

00:04:52.700 like if i that's like me being kind of like if i don't want to be on tiktok right i'll go on a walk

00:04:58.760 i have to read the book version of the brain it's brain rot but it doesn't do the same thing where

00:05:05.820 my brain feels is like i agree negatively used that's very true yeah and you can discern like

00:05:11.940 you're actively listening and going this isn't great but i am enjoying myself yeah yeah i have

00:05:16.180 quite a few things i enjoy like that do you guys have any tv shows or anything you've been watching

00:05:20.000 you're like this i mean i love this but it's i know most people might not i you know the bad

00:05:24.940 The only thing that I've been enjoying is like bad paintings.

00:05:27.900 Like people's, people showing off their bad,

00:05:30.640 people showing off their bad paintings on the internet.

00:05:33.240 Right.

00:05:33.560 I love that.

00:05:34.600 Oh yeah.

00:05:34.940 Do you guys get bad fan art?

00:05:36.640 Oh, I get a ton.

00:05:37.660 Well, you know what?

00:05:38.320 That's more painful.

00:05:39.360 We get some really good.

00:05:41.960 But it's bad.

00:05:42.700 Yeah, no, no, no.

00:05:43.300 Here's the thing though.

00:05:44.720 Also like, do people give you paintings of yourself?

00:05:48.100 Sometimes, yeah.

00:05:48.820 Yeah.

00:05:49.060 And it's like, this is so nice.

00:05:50.280 But like, what am I going to do?

00:05:52.280 With a picture of myself?

00:05:53.760 Yeah.

00:05:54.000 It's like, you want me to put up a picture of myself?

00:05:57.280 I literally got sent one at the very beginning of me doing this.

00:06:00.420 I got sent one.

00:06:00.860 It's beautiful.

00:06:01.600 It does look just like me.

00:06:02.840 It's not bad.

00:06:03.740 And my mom was like, you're going to hang this?

00:06:05.500 I go, where?

00:06:06.400 Yeah, exactly.

00:06:06.840 In my own home?

00:06:07.680 Yeah.

00:06:08.420 I see a giant picture of myself.

00:06:11.540 It creates a sort of dynamic.

00:06:13.560 Maybe you should make like a closet.

00:06:15.740 You put a closet and then you go in there when you need to think about yourself.

00:06:19.540 Like Hey Arnold.

00:06:20.320 Oh, that would be cool.

00:06:20.760 Where she opens her closet and it's all him.

00:06:22.600 But it's all my bad family. 0.95

00:06:24.000 It's you.

00:06:24.840 I love you.

00:06:25.660 It's just, but it's all me.

00:06:26.500 I just pray at my own altar.

00:06:27.340 I like that.

00:06:28.180 I feel like that.

00:06:29.020 I'm convincing myself, as I'm telling you this.

00:06:31.760 It's like avant-garde, I feel like, too.

00:06:33.780 You have to have it be really 3D

00:06:36.000 and include all the weird art.

00:06:37.620 Yeah, we've gotten some weird stuff.

00:06:39.540 Somebody once made,

00:06:42.680 one of the first murals of us that we got

00:06:45.060 was us as Harry Potter, right?

00:06:47.960 I don't remember.

00:06:48.800 I think I still have it somewhere in my house.

00:06:50.180 Interesting choice for y'all.

00:06:51.340 We also have-

00:06:52.180 Listen, we've been around a long time.

00:06:53.520 This was before she was talking.

00:06:54.720 This was before all the things.

00:06:56.620 For those who don't remember, for those who don't remember, yeah.

00:07:00.340 Yeah, it was just a pure, yeah, it was once pure.

00:07:03.220 Honestly, it's cool, though.

00:07:04.660 I know.

00:07:05.100 I bet y'all have a ton of fanfiction written about you.

00:07:07.920 We had some hilarious.

00:07:08.500 I would love to read it.

00:07:09.740 We had some fanfiction.

00:07:11.020 The first fanfiction that was ever written about us was.

00:07:13.420 Oh, the Harry Styles?

00:07:14.260 Was that.

00:07:14.800 Well, they were writing.

00:07:15.860 Oh, my God.

00:07:16.140 They were writing Harry Styles fanfiction.

00:07:18.680 We opened for him on his first tour.

00:07:20.540 I forgot about this.

00:07:22.000 To anyone who was there, we love you.

00:07:23.300 yes i do remember that yeah um but i like when you comment if you were there um we they were

00:07:30.340 writing us into kind of as sort of background fodder oh i see the story being like and moona

00:07:36.520 was also there backstage you guys were like a b-side character yeah i can't believe we did that

00:07:43.620 that's so funny but i haven't really gone into the fan fiction world no i i don't know the internet

00:07:48.920 there's a ton about y'all like where do you find that reddit wlw fanfic i bet whoa wlw well you

00:08:56.300 that yeah that's good i just wasn't looking for community i was like if i'm gonna flick my bean

00:09:00.280 i'm gonna do it privately i don't need i don't need to sound off about it did you have like

00:09:05.160 fictional characters that you like were interested in that way about well i was a big jonas brother

00:09:10.820 girl back in the day when i was young yeah me and my lesbian sister which one which both were

00:09:16.020 writing fanfic about it's kind of lesbian too they're lesbian adjacent they are there is a

00:09:20.660 pipeline for sure there are like like fellas that like if you had a crush on them you might be sus

00:09:26.980 right it's funny now there are because because like ice i have they might be in that category 1.00

00:09:32.580 there's something there i've seen comments of of girls who like used to be well obviously your 0.96

00:09:37.380 fucking fiance it's like yeah it's to be a joe jonas yeah so is my sister see there's a pipeline 0.98

00:09:42.980 there i always think lesbians like joe i think it's joe yeah i think so too everyone did this 0.99

00:09:47.380 right goes like nick yes they were like he has diabetes and i'm loving that and it's and

00:09:52.960 awareness i'm gonna send this to them i remember this people were writing they were like

00:09:58.300 guys he just announced yeah yeah and and now that's my man yeah the diabetes really pushed

00:10:04.080 it over for me i well i wrote a fanfic i wrote about the jonas brothers but there was no smut

00:10:09.660 in it at all because i wrote it when i was like you just want to be friends no i wrote it i'm not

00:10:14.100 even kidding i wrote it as i wasn't even in it you would think i would write myself this is the

00:10:18.720 thing i don't think people are doing that i think people right they're just imagining what it'd be

00:10:23.320 like for them yeah me i'm just writing like a creepy third party i was like okay well now i'm

00:10:28.360 gonna write about them kissing each other omniscient narrator yeah yeah like i'm in the cuck chair i

00:10:33.040 I put myself in the couch here watching them.

00:10:35.920 Them kissing each other, we don't have to get too into it,

00:10:38.480 but them as in the brothers?

00:10:39.980 No, no, no, that would be crazy.

00:10:41.580 About girl characters, about girl characters.

00:10:44.240 No, true, that's a little bit crazy.

00:10:45.160 I would be in a very different message board

00:10:46.760 if I was doing that.

00:10:47.880 No, it was-

00:10:48.800 It's like a girl who'd meet them.

00:10:50.300 Yeah, but it was honestly, I wrote it about Miley Cyrus

00:10:52.920 and Selena Gomez was my main villain in it at the time 0.56

00:10:55.520 because they had beef, all of them had beef.

00:10:57.280 And the diabetes was a huge moving piece of my story.

00:11:00.000 It didn't need to be, but it was.

00:11:01.300 Okay, so this was ongoing.

00:11:02.940 Yeah, it was, oh, I wrote like 30 chapters.

00:11:05.500 That's really creative.

00:11:06.060 And I hand wrote them too.

00:11:07.560 That's actually, that's actually unbelievable.

00:11:09.960 I think it's really creative.

00:11:12.140 Do you still have these?

00:11:12.920 We gotta keep this alive.

00:11:14.160 I'm trying, I'm looking for them.

00:11:15.740 They're in my mom and dad's house somewhere.

00:11:18.840 I've been looking for them for years.

00:11:20.780 Cause a lot of people are like,

00:11:21.700 you don't want to read it to us cause you're embarrassed. 0.99

00:11:23.480 I'm like, I don't give a fuck. 0.99

00:11:24.700 I would love to, it'd be great for me. 0.99

00:11:26.000 Wait, have you had them on the podcast?

00:11:27.760 No, I've met them multiple times.

00:11:29.420 You should have them on cause they just.

00:11:30.880 I've been trying, we can let them know. 0.78

00:11:32.940 I will let you guys are almost like they're like your Wario in my opinion.

00:11:36.860 It's like that, Paramore, us.

00:11:39.920 It's like there's a whole circle.

00:11:41.580 You're the Jonas Brothers Mario.

00:11:43.360 There's a Spider-Man.

00:11:44.280 You're my Mario.

00:11:45.280 Yeah.

00:11:45.700 You're the, they're the Wario.

00:11:47.220 What?

00:11:48.220 In this situation.

00:11:49.720 They are.

00:11:50.580 But I wasn't. 0.99

00:11:51.280 It's pride month after all. 1.00

00:11:52.600 Yeah, exactly. 0.99

00:11:53.540 And I wasn't it girl.

00:11:54.720 That's cute.

00:11:55.480 Yeah.

00:11:55.720 But that's, I guess, me being straight.

00:11:57.440 But also he was the only one that ended up with a brown girl.

00:11:59.400 I think I just knew. 1.00

00:12:00.440 I think my third eye was like, this one's fucking with people of color. 0.99

00:12:02.900 yeah that's right now i read i've read like fan fiction about fake characters too do you guys are 1.00

00:12:08.960 you familiar with avatar the last airbender i mean we're like light i've been meaning to get

00:12:13.260 around to that you should watch that that's one of my favorite shows of all time it's good it

00:12:16.860 holds up over time i watched it again recently like front to back okay so good maybe the summer

00:12:21.820 is the time yeah you gotta watch it on tour it's so good is it like a long it's like a lot of

00:12:26.820 seasons i think it's like three or four seasons okay it's not terrible yeah yeah and it's all

00:12:31.660 cartoon but it's impeccable i love cartoons i mean i mainly my favorite kinds of movies are kids

00:12:36.760 movies what are your favorite movies okay well first of all i have to i have to give a shout

00:12:40.520 out to hoppers because i just oh my gosh i haven't watched hoppers yet but i heard it was really good

00:12:44.140 i watched it like three times this past week we were we were got a shout out to this huge franchise

00:12:50.700 it was a huge franchise hoppers it's amazing it's giving like ferngully but updated and i love

00:12:58.480 yeah it's like my my partner also was reminding me that remember in ferngully there's like the

00:13:03.940 musical sequence because it's like his like tape player gets gets like somehow sent with him

00:13:10.000 yeah when he gets shrunken that he has like a massive tape player with him so like they're 0.65

00:13:13.820 like they have a dance party all the fairies have a dance party in the forest they have a similar 0.80

00:13:17.520 thing and it's very moona concert but it's like the kid true that's what it feels like i feel like

00:13:22.860 kids i'm taking this question as your favorite kids movies because otherwise i get too overwhelmed

00:13:28.240 but it's like i like kids movies that have like these kinds of like radical uh like storylines

00:13:37.580 about either like alternative family structure or like yeah revolution yeah totally yeah absolutely

00:13:43.540 bugs life bugs life is a great one yeah monsters inc yeah i love monsters inc bugs life made me a

00:13:49.580 communist t-shirt new moon emerge yeah you can have that you can have the band of like i mean

00:13:57.400 like yeah the like circus freaks like the circus freak bugs like the traveling troops yeah the

00:14:03.580 cross-dressing ladybug also they were they were being their labor was being exploited yeah totally 0.85

00:14:10.300 for that's true by the grasshoppers by the grasshopper class so go ahead and go back and 0.75

00:14:15.080 re-watch that yeah a lot of these ones it hits this kind of reminds me this is a strange segue

00:14:20.760 but it does remind me of it uh we were all at lucy dacus's party oh yeah we were all there we

00:14:25.960 else i spoke with you i didn't get to chat with y'all i definitely didn't go you weren't you

00:14:30.420 weren't i was going to go i wouldn't be surprised if i know i know i didn't that night i know i

00:14:35.720 didn't because amber came with you right oh yeah amber was with us yeah that's true i was too tired

00:14:40.100 yeah sorry lucy i love you well i went and while we were there at one point um i was talking with

00:14:46.560 lucy and a few other people my friends manna and carrie they were there too but she was like i have

00:14:51.020 a question because we were talking about kids media okay movies and she was like if you see

00:14:55.520 have you ever seen um what's the wild robot y'all watch wild yes it's a good one it's a great one

00:15:02.280 it's so beautiful yeah but she was like do you think that these kids movies with robots are like

00:15:07.300 wally right do you think they're encouraging like manufacturing consent for like ai or something

00:15:12.780 yes like robots which i was like this is the most lucy dacus question to ask me at a birthday party

00:15:19.300 it is interesting because you think about the cocoa robots right that are on the streets

00:15:24.940 delivering food allegedly although their names are coco but who's to say i've never opened her

00:15:30.940 up yeah when you see them struggling like i immediately feel compassion because they have

00:15:36.060 cute eyes because they have cute little eyes they're like and names and they're stumbling

00:15:40.140 i don't know i've noticed ai though that's what that's what she was asking because ai to me is

00:15:46.140 like the robots and wally like they are given like a human characteristic that makes you feel

00:15:52.060 empathy for them ai is just this void right i agree but also how it's viewed it's like the

00:15:58.100 larger yeah if ai was a robot that i was talking to that sat next to me i would think then that

00:16:03.640 but the the ai robots are like you go girl well that's go good for you for setting that boundary

00:16:09.380 or whatever real they're they're like parroting back what you'd like to hear yeah we were talking

00:16:13.640 about the movie iron giant i love that movie i fucking love that movie and y'all love chris

00:16:19.500 fleming like i do and i told chris fleming that the plot of iron giant is what i imagined his 0.74

00:16:24.920 childhood was like and then he was like what me and the forest making no friends i go right that's

00:16:30.020 how i think you turned out this way but that's just a theory but either way we were talking

00:16:33.640 about iron giant and she was like do you think that's like big tech like the the robot and then

00:16:38.400 i i told her honestly no i don't think so in the case of iron giant because he was supposed to be

00:16:43.180 used as a war machine but he didn't want to be totally different political different implications

00:16:47.480 He sacrificed himself.

00:16:48.320 That's what I said.

00:16:49.140 I said, and he sacrifices himself at the end.

00:16:49.980 Also, guys, Iron Giant's a period piece.

00:16:51.720 Sorry to say that, but it's not, yeah,

00:16:54.440 it's not set in contemporary times.

00:16:56.480 It's about the Cold War.

00:16:58.820 Yeah, they never would have known either,

00:17:00.620 about AI coming to where it is now. 0.99

00:17:02.640 Damn, it smacks. 0.99

00:17:03.480 I read a crazy article in the, 1.00

00:17:05.960 I just came back from visiting my grandma

00:17:08.160 for a couple of days, and my grandma reads,

00:17:10.020 she lives in Phoenix,

00:17:10.900 and she reads the newspaper there every morning.

00:17:14.280 Oh, wow.

00:17:15.040 She's about to be 95.

00:17:16.780 She reads the newspaper.

00:18:08.880 and one of the articles that she shoved my way was um about uh like this discussion around

00:18:22.460 have you heard that like people are referring to ai and robots as clankers yes i have i've heard

00:18:30.280 that too that's like a very ready they'll come up with a slur for anything yeah yeah yeah they're

00:18:34.860 going to work up a slur for anything.

00:18:35.940 Right, and it's, it like has started this like discussion of like, I don't know, they

00:18:41.440 were talking about, well, they were talking about a video that like went viral on TikTok

00:18:48.200 where some comedian was like, when like my daughter brings home like a clanker, but then 0.57

00:18:55.020 like the, the, like Futurama, like she's dating a clanker, she's dating, yeah, yeah, she's

00:18:59.280 dating like a robot, but then it ends up that the robot is Wally, so the dad is like excited 0.79

00:19:04.480 about it okay but the undertones of it are crazy because it's like it's racial obviously it's

00:19:11.800 obvious racial undertones right and so like towards the robot towards the robot interesting

00:19:16.940 but it's but it's just like people are like transplanting their racist fears on onto robots

00:19:22.340 yeah but then also like that's weird i think there's i think we have so much to like basically

00:19:28.980 sort through as how about just everybody take 10 minutes just go outside just go outside go

00:19:35.740 circle up with some friends get it talk to a gay person i appreciate lucy asking these questions

00:19:41.420 and i appreciate lucy me too honestly we had a we had a blast discussing it yeah she's so 0.89

00:19:46.300 ferocious about yeah no trust me i was like yeah i want to kill ai too but the iron giant does not

00:19:51.340 count no no iron giant has nothing nothing to do with this metaphor completely yeah i agree it's

00:19:57.700 like as soon as they start like rusting then i'm like right i'm like all of a sudden you're on my

00:20:03.160 team it's like i don't it doesn't matter like i think if you're if you're analog what it is is

00:20:08.460 like if it's the robot isn't um what's her name the girl who plays wednesday jenny ortega is in

00:20:15.280 a movie that's about like robots like oh i think i saw a trailer for it they go out of you know 0.98

00:20:20.900 like what happens to the old robots you know what i mean damn take them out back and shoot them 0.90

00:20:26.340 probably in america in america for sure yeah we're talking about america probably that 0.99

00:20:32.420 okay y'all can we stop settling for hair products that just don't work i say it's time to shake up

00:21:20.760 with free shipping and same day delivery shop hair at sephora and give your hair the upgrade

00:21:25.880 it's been waiting for it is spooky like ooky spooky to me how ingrained technology is becoming

00:21:32.360 though in a lot of ways i think totally it is very ai scares me on a whole nother level but like

00:21:37.540 just even literal technology scares me like waymos freak me out too oh my god have you seen those

00:21:42.580 like and scary have you seen those specs things which ones like they're huge uh sunglasses that

00:21:49.000 that are basically like screen, they're called specs.

00:21:51.380 What, and you can watch stuff on them? 0.99

00:21:53.180 Yeah, and you look like a loser. 0.88

00:21:56.500 It's kind of like meta glasses where they're like, 0.99

00:21:58.800 you can't even tell and there's huge lenses right here

00:22:01.620 and it's like, yes I can.

00:22:03.240 And there's a blinking.

00:22:04.240 A huge lens in there and a blinking big red light.

00:22:07.260 So I can see.

00:22:08.100 It's like recording in progress.

00:22:09.780 Hello fellow patron and they're like literally

00:22:12.260 the biggest lenses ever right there recording.

00:22:14.660 I think the funniest part about them is that the quality

00:22:17.000 of the video is bad. 0.99

00:22:18.280 It's trash. 0.88

00:22:19.120 It's actually really bad. 0.82

00:22:20.240 Like when you download the video, it's like 480p.

00:22:22.880 Wait, so you've done this, you've tried this.

00:22:24.500 I've tried them on and then they're like,

00:22:27.340 check out this video.

00:22:28.560 And I was like, it looks bad.

00:22:31.160 They're really trying to convince you that not only like,

00:22:33.780 is it so awesome to have a camera by your eye

00:22:37.400 to record what you see, but that the glasses look good.

00:22:40.800 They look good.

00:22:41.640 That's the part that's killing me.

00:22:42.480 They're like, these are our different styles.

00:22:43.300 Yeah, they're like- They're not styles.

00:22:45.640 This is so fugly.

00:22:47.240 They're meta-glasses, and you can tell when you look at them.

00:22:50.600 I can't wait to see the social reckoning.

00:22:52.800 Oh, yeah, about meta-glasses or just tech?

00:22:55.280 Just in general.

00:22:55.620 Yeah, the tech of it all.

00:22:56.700 The follow-up to the first one.

00:22:59.660 I'm like, what are we going to do?

00:23:01.640 I don't know.

00:23:02.460 I think you guys have to keep making more music.

00:23:04.280 Okay, totally.

00:23:05.000 I think that's the only way we can try to fight it.

00:23:05.880 We need to produce more content.

00:23:07.400 You need to make more music.

00:23:09.260 You need to keep making art.

00:23:10.240 We're having this conversation.

00:23:11.960 We all work jobs that we don't have to interact with AI.

00:23:15.440 It's totally a choice.

00:23:16.800 what i'm just thinking about like i know so many people are being like forced to to work with it

00:23:21.340 yeah or make it work in their everyday life they have to yeah because people are you're gonna get

00:23:25.240 fucking fired well that's why i said it's really like it's eliminating a certain like class of

00:23:30.900 worker in a really totally because there are people who it's like the ai is not a mechanic 0.98

00:23:37.220 you know what i mean like certain jobs certain kind of like for now like working class blue

00:23:43.380 collar jobs are actually safe from the like job failure that's happening for like millennials who

00:23:51.940 were told like go get a college degree and you'll you'll be rich or whatever and it's like no you

00:23:55.960 whatever it's crazy that like ai and i've said this before but it's like ai seems to just be

00:24:01.780 like the rest of us in the sense of like it wants to make movies and art it's like literally i'm

00:24:07.860 and do something else.

00:24:08.700 I'm actually a poet.

00:24:09.520 I'm like, jeez.

00:24:10.960 Well, especially when it pulls. 0.99

00:24:11.800 Poetry sucks. 0.99

00:24:12.720 And it pulls from human experience. 0.99

00:24:14.680 So it literally can't create anything without an example.

00:24:18.820 Yeah, of course.

00:24:19.660 So it needs existing poetry

00:24:20.980 in order to know how to write poetry,

00:24:23.120 which is why you would think it would be good

00:24:25.200 by that measure, but it can't

00:24:26.460 because it comes from human experience. 0.95

00:24:28.160 Well, what's the name of that girl band that...

00:24:30.400 It's Hauntology.

00:24:32.420 Wow, that's a trap.

00:24:33.700 It is.

00:24:34.860 Mark Fisher's idea of hauntology.

00:24:37.500 Say it again.

00:24:38.500 Hauntology.

00:24:39.500 Haunt?

00:24:40.500 And say it one more time.

00:24:41.500 Haunt? 0.99

00:24:42.500 H-A-U-N-T.

00:24:43.500 Hauntology is like a type of, it's a genre of music. 0.96

00:24:47.500 Like burial.

00:24:48.500 Oh yeah.

00:24:49.500 Stuff that kind of like makes, feels like it's like rediscovered

00:24:52.500 from other times and it's like haunted by ghosts.

00:24:54.500 That's like the cool version of it.

00:24:56.500 Yeah.

00:24:57.500 That's rad.

00:24:58.500 What was that record when we were watching a YouTube?

00:25:00.500 The other day.

00:25:01.500 Oh yeah.

00:25:02.500 We were watching a YouTube.

00:25:03.500 We were watching a YouTube.

00:25:04.500 Oh my god.

00:25:05.500 in that thing, whatever.

00:25:06.340 Instant name, forgetting.

00:25:07.580 I just mean to say that it's like a very Mark Fisher-y idea

00:25:11.960 of like AI as this thing that can only,

00:25:16.000 that cannot create.

00:25:17.460 Oh yeah, right, right, right.

00:25:17.980 It's permanent nostalgia.

00:25:19.620 That can't make anything original.

00:25:21.240 But that is also like the human condition too.

00:25:23.980 Yeah, I was gonna say like,

00:25:25.660 it reminds me of that band.

00:25:25.800 Not that nostalgia's a bad thing.

00:25:27.600 There's like a, 0.98

00:25:28.440 I feel like for some reason this is part of lesbian culture. 0.86

00:25:30.900 like there's a there's a um punk band that was started do you know this the name of this band

00:25:38.540 that i'm talking about with the girls they were sisters and like their dad didn't show them any

00:25:42.700 music i have no idea and then they started a band okay and um are they a new band no no no this was

00:25:50.280 like in like this was decades ago but like he was thinking that they were gonna be like the new

00:25:56.800 beatles because he was like this is like they're gonna make the most original music oh because

00:26:01.780 they've never listened because they've never heard any music and like what they made frankly

00:26:06.740 was like weird and like well and like because there are fundamentals to music that you should

00:26:13.740 probably know yeah so it's like it is interesting like to a certain extent like we're all doing that

00:26:19.480 like we're all creating from nothing and then and then yes but we have souls right that's why i said

00:26:25.700 like i think art comes from it comes from like human experience like the ability to create even

00:26:30.780 if it's good or bad depending because it's subjective yeah it comes from living life

00:26:36.060 which is another thing yeah that i've talked about with my sister about like the over policing on

00:26:40.720 tiktok like the the the villain villainizing essentially anyone that missteps in a way that's

00:26:47.420 not obviously obviously terrible but like when they jump down someone's throat by how they react

00:26:52.880 to like their boyfriend or their girlfriend or whatever and I'm always like younger kids COVID

00:26:57.620 kids especially yeah I'm extending empathy towards them in this sense I'm like of course you are so

00:27:03.740 quick to judge and to write people off because you haven't like actually lived life like you

00:27:08.460 haven't gone out and loved people like through their mistakes or like made mistakes yourself

00:27:13.540 or like experience life in a way that corrects you and puts you on the right path hopefully

00:27:17.720 so of course you have this extremely high standard for people to meet because everything you've ever

00:27:23.680 experienced has been through other people on the phone yeah it's also like the the sad it's also

00:27:28.780 just the sad thing about like the state of i don't know people of the left in this country right where

00:27:34.440 it's like we have been so disempowered that the only thing that feels powerful is the ways that

00:27:44.000 we use language yeah and like and so each other yeah and so like the policing of language becomes

00:27:49.380 this this this alternative right to uh structural power right totally because it actually is it has

00:27:56.860 an impact i don't know i'm being like you know i'm not addressing myself well but i think that

00:28:00.960 is where it comes from it's like you're doing a great job because they're because we don't have

00:28:04.680 this power in these other ways right language becomes the means through which we can uh get out

00:28:11.200 the the urge to change things totally um but it's ultimately like futile yeah and when you come up

00:28:18.520 against the brick wall of life right and especially when it eats itself right like you're just it's a

00:28:23.320 snake eating its own tail at that point which progresses nobody moves nobody forward and i

00:28:28.040 also think it's an indicator of being young right like we're older millennials so like we've lived

00:28:32.900 through many a tumultuous time i also think though that's why art is has never been better

00:28:37.660 your album included right it's never been better because every time geopolit geopolitical turmoil

00:28:43.400 is happening everywhere and it's awful and awful and awful the best most iconic art comes out of

00:28:49.380 those times totally unfortunately because everyone's you know unhappy or pissed off and

00:28:54.080 that reminds me of your guys's song on your new album big stick obviously same kind of undertones

00:29:00.660 same themes where but i think that's why that's why i said the only way to kill ai moona has to

00:29:05.860 making music that is the true way to to kill yeah fourth wall breaking this is good that's what

00:29:12.820 wait you see that did you all hear that wait you see that the big web was tied all the way back

00:29:20.420 yeah hello look at me good job thank you but i do want to talk that's great transition to the

00:29:25.460 new album i do want to talk about obviously dancing on the wall my sister was uh my introduction to

00:29:32.020 to y'all and you've only gotten better with time if i may say so and i do want to lol really quickly

00:29:37.500 the last time y'all were here i was like is there anyone else you guys are looking at that you're

00:29:41.200 like wow this person really has something and you're like honestly no um because every time

00:29:46.040 we say it they go past us we can't and y'all were like every time we we say it out loud that person

00:29:52.680 just sticks out and i was like y'all are oracles to me in that sense too like chapel like y'all

00:29:58.100 we're like hey girl we're like we're proud of you y'all are just you just pick correctly every

00:30:06.240 single time yeah and i pick y'all the vote means nothing but you know i'm gonna do my best

00:30:11.720 i do think it's important though to like keep your eye on the up and comers because it's so

00:30:17.000 inspiring absolutely it's like they have stuff to teach us too absolutely i want to talk about

00:30:22.100 the new album though like how did it feel like how does this one feel compared to your your

00:30:26.260 previous art it's funny it's hard to say because it also has been such a long time since we put

00:30:30.480 music out and it feels like so much has changed exactly both just like in the culture the world

00:30:35.340 in the culture and like in i don't know just in our lives yeah we're different but i do think

00:30:41.760 it is really nice to have music out and as always it just kind of makes you want to make 0.51

00:30:47.980 more music right and like keep that's how you're creating kind of yeah well not fucking right now 0.69

00:30:54.840 i'm going through something yeah you're like don't ask me for more right now but in the future yeah 0.88

00:30:59.980 i think it makes you releasing something just makes you want to make the art that reacts against

00:31:05.860 or with yeah as a companion to your previous works yeah totally like yeah so i don't know

00:31:13.620 something like that maybe yeah i mean i think that the first like term that kind of came up

00:31:18.420 in my head is like it just feels like um we're at a point where like the phrase that came up for me

00:31:26.880 is like victory lap yeah because i'm like yeah i just feel like we've we've been able to achieve

00:31:33.560 so much as a band period in like and and part of that is like just being together for this long

00:31:41.260 like yeah most bands don't make it past like the decade mark no true that's a huge thing to

00:31:47.820 achieve i know can you believe it i mean i can yeah so it's like some concern to be able to like

00:31:53.560 have made four albums together yeah it's huge and then also i think we just felt really in love with

00:32:01.320 the songs on this record and we were like to be like able to work on something

00:32:12.100 like consistently you know like the year before we were putting we put the album out

00:32:17.100 we were just going to the studio like like at office hours and just like like consistently

00:32:23.700 working on making every song as good as it could be and like experimenting with stuff and it's like

00:32:28.880 that is the happiest that I am in my life when we're doing that yeah like it's it's so cool to

00:32:34.960 feel like you have like this purpose that you're really passionate about yeah um and to get to like

00:32:42.720 yeah share that and tour that where we did like a mini tour like we did shows in LA and New York

00:32:49.740 and London yeah promo trip yeah like um just like kind of mini residencies in in this in those

00:32:56.540 cities and it was really sweet to be able to like play the record live as soon as it came out yeah

00:33:03.660 but we also haven't done like the actual tour isn't until the fall so we're in this like funny

00:33:09.740 any limbo right now, like I think you don't feel

00:33:13.400 completely settled in an album's release

00:33:16.500 until you're on the headline tour for it.

00:33:18.720 Yeah, totally.

00:33:19.540 And yeah, so now it's like, we're just gonna have like,

00:33:24.460 I guess a hot girl summer.

00:33:26.340 Hell yeah.

00:33:27.180 And then we'll be back with the fans.

00:33:29.760 You'll get back in the saddle.

00:33:30.980 And we're so excited.

00:33:31.820 You guys are clocking back in.

00:33:33.040 We're clocking back in.

00:33:33.880 In the fall.

00:33:34.720 Yeah, and we love, obviously, like,

00:33:36.220 I love being in the studio, but I think that we

00:33:39.160 do shine as a live fan.

00:33:41.880 I can vouch for that 1,000%.

00:33:45.140 I have watched it live. 1.00

00:33:46.840 What a fucking key, bitch. 1.00

00:33:48.340 You're so sweet. 1.00

00:33:48.540 I remember seeing you at the Greek

00:33:49.980 and I was like, Drew's here? 0.97

00:33:51.580 Hell fucking yeah, I was there. 0.98

00:33:53.420 And I bought a section. 0.99

00:33:54.900 What? 1.00

00:33:55.480 For me and my lesbians. 1.00

00:33:56.320 Hell yeah. 1.00

00:33:56.940 They sell sections there?

00:33:57.880 I was standing in the back.

00:33:59.200 I said, well, this won't do.

00:34:00.440 That's iconic.

00:34:01.280 And then we were like, let's,

00:34:02.340 and then a girl walked up to me

00:34:03.720 and was like, oh, we have some sections.

00:34:05.020 I was like, yeah, I'm going to pay for that.

00:34:06.720 And it was just the four of us. 0.99

00:34:07.820 oh my god that is so iconic that's iconic that's probably why i saw you yeah that is my big ass 0.89

00:34:13.920 was right in the middle i was standing right in the center well i know i know too that you you

00:34:19.140 had mentioned that y'all are in very different places in your lives now obviously older now

00:34:23.280 more established been doing this for a while like how did that kind of shift in your lives

00:34:27.740 affect the way you guys made this album was it different did it feel different or was it kind

00:34:32.800 of the same just a little bit more convicted i feel like we're just more sure of ourselves yeah

00:34:37.140 as musicians and i don't know if we've ever put out a record where we felt like we did the best

00:34:43.560 that we could like and you know you always i you know try to get to that place but i don't know

00:34:48.380 the thing is i do think if we were given more time we would have worked until you know whatever

00:34:53.340 that deadline's like last moment was but i do feel like we did the absolute best that we could

00:35:01.160 making this record like i don't know how we could have done something differently and gotten like a

00:35:06.900 a different result that would be you know but i think i mean i think that i do think you doing

00:35:14.980 like songwriting stuff like when i was doing my solo record joe was started doing more writing

00:35:20.860 sessions and stuff and i feel like that did affect like the dynamic in the studio yeah like it was

00:35:26.700 like more collaborative collaborative yeah but i think beautiful which i which i think it just

00:35:31.240 comes from like i i mean yeah maybe it wouldn't have happened if i hadn't have like done more

00:35:36.640 stuff like that but I do feel like it's just more self-assuredness you know that allowed us to

00:35:41.880 collaborate more and hopefully like make some of our best pop songs hell yeah yeah and just like

00:35:46.820 being better at communicating because we're older and like knowing and we've had more like I think

00:35:51.700 also like relationship like being in relationships outside of the band then affects your relationship

00:35:59.140 in the band because you like are learning about yourself and how to ask for things that you need

00:36:03.200 stuff like that yeah but it's like yeah it's kind of do you keep hearing podcast ads like this one

00:36:11.320 for example but always wonder how you actually get involved with them for your own brand or

00:36:15.960 organization well it's easier than you think we're a cast and we give you the platform to do it all

00:36:49.380 it's like you know we we there's so much commitment you guys are in a common law marriage

00:36:55.220 been together for 10 years yeah it didn't involve the government but we have been living together

00:36:59.140 and we would never we would fucking never but we've involved the bank yes obviously we share 0.80

00:37:06.580 accounts just kidding oh yeah we got it we got llc's upon hell yeah need it are you married yet 0.88

00:37:12.880 not yet i'm getting married this summer though holy cow where in hoi i was gonna ask what you're

00:37:18.480 doing this summer.

00:37:19.320 It's so cool.

00:37:20.140 On Oahu.

00:37:20.980 Cool.

00:37:21.820 My mom grew up there.

00:37:22.660 Oh, period, where?

00:37:23.580 Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:37:24.420 In Kailua.

00:37:25.260 Oh, no way, I have family in Kailua too.

00:37:27.660 Period, look at us.

00:37:29.120 We might have cousins somehow.

00:37:32.220 Yes, oh my God, don't let me find out.

00:37:34.720 I'll start making a public record.

00:37:37.340 I'll start telling people.

00:37:38.100 Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:37:38.940 Yeah, we're getting married there.

00:37:40.060 It's very spiritual to us, I feel like.

00:37:41.840 Yeah, amazing.

00:37:42.680 We feel most ourselves there.

00:37:43.800 That's awesome.

00:37:44.780 And if you guys wanna come, I'd love for you to come,

00:37:47.640 but you will have to perform if you come.

00:37:49.220 So just keep that in mind. 1.00

00:37:50.740 Yeah, we have to get to a wahoos. 1.00

00:37:52.420 Yeah, I'm gonna have y'all work in if you come. 1.00

00:37:55.620 I'm just kidding.

00:37:56.460 I like weddings.

00:37:57.300 I even made a joke

00:37:58.140 because I've invited quite a few of my friends too

00:38:00.680 that are like performers.

00:38:01.800 I'm like, imagine I'm just like, okay, karaoke,

00:38:04.720 who wants to perform?

00:38:06.520 But you have to perform your own song.

00:38:08.480 Who's into it?

00:38:09.960 Just so everyone gets, 1.00

00:38:10.880 they get their own Coachella at my wedding.

00:38:12.480 Totally. 1.00

00:38:13.320 But it's all gay people. 1.00

00:38:14.160 That's what you need. 0.97

00:38:15.200 You know what I mean?

00:38:16.040 That's how you use your power.

00:38:17.040 That's what I'm saying.

00:38:18.280 Well, we'll talk after.

00:38:19.560 Are you honeymooning?

00:38:20.740 Yes, I am.

00:38:21.640 Yes, I'm actually, I'm going to Lanai, which is another island.

00:38:25.380 Yeah.

00:38:25.820 Another Hawaiian island.

00:38:26.460 Stunning.

00:38:27.060 Very cool.

00:38:27.800 I'm very excited.

00:38:28.960 It's going to be awesome.

00:38:29.760 I can feel the cool air in my hair.

00:38:33.980 On your scalp.

00:38:35.260 You might feel the human air.

00:38:37.200 All right, I'll count that as RSVPs.

00:38:38.720 One, two, one, three.

00:38:39.280 There you go.

00:38:40.140 I'm feeling the waves bringing in the breeze.

00:38:42.720 That's why I'm telling you, when I get there, I feel like I reset a little bit.

00:38:46.680 my evil gets tampered down just a little bit only the mainland makes me evil like that

00:38:51.860 are you a chiller or are you i mean i'd imagine that like building something like this it's like

00:38:59.040 do you think about work all the time um yes but i think a lot of that's just because i'm a virgo

00:39:06.140 and i i do love i love wait virgo what what's your rising and oh my my son i'm a virgo sun

00:39:12.960 Cancer moon Sagittarius rising oh we're all we're very compatible oh look at us yeah well I love

00:39:18.700 Virgos yeah tell your partner tell your girlfriend my girlfriend your fiance yeah she's cancer son

00:39:24.180 oh look at that mine too we got sensi what are your what are y'all's big big three we're caps

00:39:29.440 okay Pisces yeah okay but I'm I'm cap Taurus rising which is also I'm Taurus rising oh I love

00:39:36.120 tauruses i get along with tauruses very well my partner's a taurus um and then i'm a gemini moon

00:39:42.360 yeah yeah yeah very yeah i mean yeah super and i'm an earth wait and then you're a gemini moon

00:39:46.880 no i'm a gemini rising our signs are all kind of like um like mixed together yeah because i'm

00:39:54.460 gemini rising but joe's a pisces sun i'm a pisces moon yeah oh and then we're both cap suns yeah

00:40:00.320 and then i'm tourist rising and virgo moon it's like really like entangled i've joked a lot about

00:40:06.000 capricorns because i've been like capricorns to me don't they should be taking the flack that like

00:40:11.720 gemini's and scorpio's get t only because i'm like capricorns are so because like my cousin adam who's

00:40:17.280 my hair and makeup artist he's a capricorn and my sister's a capricorn moon i believe but i feel

00:40:23.040 like capricorns are really good at getting people to love them they're just better at convincing

00:40:26.740 people that were right exactly that too i'm saying you're very very personal very likable 0.93

00:40:31.400 you think gemini's are like that too no i what i think they should be getting shit for is that 0.62

00:40:36.380 capricorns when they're like basically over you whatever capacity that is they could just pretend 0.84

00:40:41.460 they never met you and that you're dead which i believe to be a super villain trait and i think 0.89

00:40:46.640 no one did anything to me yeah the capricorns are hard asses and and my sister's a capricorn moon

00:40:52.720 Which is so funny because I've joked about my sister for years that like if I'm talking to her actively speaking to her

00:40:58.180 I can watch the light leave her eyes

00:41:02.380 If she's over it, I watch her

00:41:07.140 Okay, no worries. Hey over here over here

00:41:11.240 I do that to you. Yeah 1.00

00:41:15.180 You do that too. You do that more than anybody.

00:41:18.240 The New Yorker piece that we did,

00:41:20.400 you can see Katie is somewhere so different.

00:41:23.540 Now Katie, Katie, it's so funny.

00:41:25.740 This is, I'm gonna roast Katie right now.

00:41:28.000 Katie will ask me for advice on a topic 0.88

00:41:30.920 that she really doesn't want advice on.

00:41:32.900 And then I'm telling you granularly.

00:41:34.620 I'm telling her, I'm telling her that I'm saying-

00:41:36.860 I'm telling her that I'm saying-

00:41:37.700 I'm telling her that I'm saying-

00:41:38.840 That I'm seeing in your eyes.

00:41:40.640 Right.

00:41:41.480 You're giving her like math advice.

00:41:42.760 Yeah. 0.99

00:41:43.600 That's what she doesn't want. 0.88

00:41:44.440 She wants like spirit advice.

00:41:45.860 And she's like, and I'm not listening.

00:41:47.940 I'm not, even my sister, for a long ass time,

00:41:52.100 my sister would do this thing where if we were on the phone, 1.00

00:41:55.100 if she wanted to get off the phone, 1.00

00:41:56.780 she would be like, well, I gotta poop. 1.00

00:41:59.420 And she said it every time.

00:42:00.460 And then finally, one time I go, no, you don't.

00:42:02.700 No, you don't.

00:42:03.540 And then we started laughing and she goes, I'm just, I'm done.

00:42:06.220 Yeah, totally.

00:42:07.060 I'm done talking. 1.00

00:42:07.900 I was like, say that, bitch. 1.00

00:42:10.420 Yeah, if you were white, you would say, 1.00

00:42:12.460 okay, I'm gonna let you go. 1.00

00:42:14.500 Yeah, that's what I was saying.

00:42:16.460 well i'll let you head out i know you got things to do i'm sure or yeah that's very midwestern

00:42:22.200 yeah it's like well and that's why i think i understand y'all capricorns especially this

00:42:29.080 is crazy though this thing about like us moving on like that i haven't ever thought about that

00:42:34.620 before but i think it is true it's very true i think the truth is like when i oh god when a

00:42:40.440 capricorn oh god get i think when a capricorn gets the ick right it like it just will never

00:42:46.460 and it could be anything that's the thing it's like it could be so so small or huge either way

00:42:52.940 you're dead to them and they're over it because we're like right about it right so that's that's

00:42:58.420 where i run into it because i'm a virgo so by nature i'm a nodal so that's where i have my

00:43:03.380 be like the ultimate no that's what i'm saying final boss friends with some exes i just have

00:43:09.940 it's not like well you're sitting on a couch yeah i'm like best friends with some exes well you're

00:43:13.860 both capricorns we were like yeah so there you go you guys like to be in alliance yeah but it's

00:43:20.580 either like yeah i'm still really close with you and i love you or like yeah it's real black and

00:43:25.300 white i respect it i just find it to be it could be used for good or evil yeah i'm like some exes

00:43:30.900 I'm like, who's the other ex?

00:43:32.620 I don't think about it.

00:43:34.700 The one you're in a common law.

00:43:35.760 I don't know if I agree with you.

00:43:38.280 I don't think Katie needs to talk to the exes that we're thinking about. 1.00

00:43:40.160 Let's get the exes on the pod. 1.00

00:43:41.300 Maybe it's happening.

00:43:42.240 No way, dude.

00:43:43.420 I don't even have that many.

00:43:45.300 Yeah, but you just, I don't think what you said was true.

00:43:49.860 I think you just like actively lied.

00:43:52.420 Katie's extraordinarily nice and forgiving. 0.99

00:43:55.120 Dude, I want to beat up the shit out of some of Katie's exes. 0.98

00:43:58.040 Wait, you want to hear something? 1.00

00:43:59.140 I want to beat the shit out of my sister's exes too. 0.99

00:44:01.540 I got spammed by one of my exes yesterday. 0.99

00:44:05.140 A phishing attempt via email.

00:44:07.060 A phishing attempt?

00:44:08.320 Yeah, a phishing attempt.

00:44:09.160 That's creepy, because my sister has also had that. 1.00

00:44:12.580 Lesbians are crazy. 1.00

00:44:15.640 I don't think they did it on purpose. 1.00

00:44:16.840 Her social reconnection?

00:44:18.700 No, it was like, I know yours was like.

00:44:20.700 PH.

00:44:21.200 No, yeah, hers was to get in contact with her again.

00:44:23.500 See, that's what I don't, I think this. 0.53

00:44:25.080 This was a PH phishing attack.

00:44:25.920 I think so.

00:44:26.420 No, this was like, oh, this was like a spam.

00:44:28.700 The person was hacked.

00:44:29.900 Oh, no, this was intentional.

00:44:31.580 What if this, what if, what if they were hacked?

00:44:33.460 Was trying to give you a virus?

00:44:35.540 No.

00:44:36.380 Spam calls. 0.99

00:44:37.220 Spam calls, yeah, like put her on like a call bank thing. 0.50

00:44:39.560 So like, she'll get like, yeah. 0.84

00:44:41.780 She'll get like a thousand a day.

00:44:43.380 I know, I know.

00:44:45.200 They can't keep getting away with this.

00:44:46.160 And I gotta be honest, my number has been sold.

00:44:48.940 My number has been sold.

00:44:51.700 This is a Josette-ism, this is a phrase

00:44:54.460 that Josette will say throughout the day.

00:44:55.980 My number has been sold.

00:44:58.060 My number has been sold and no one's listening to me.

00:45:01.240 I've been having fun talking to some of the texters

00:45:03.540 who are like, how about we meet up for dinner tonight? 1.00

00:45:08.160 I love that shit. 1.00

00:45:09.600 I'll go back and forth a little bit with them, 1.00

00:45:11.720 but I'll usually do like,

00:45:13.680 I will translate something into a different language.

00:45:16.600 This makes me think about Gio.

00:45:18.580 Yeah, it's the same thing.

00:45:20.180 Our bassist has gotten texted by like numbers 0.64

00:45:22.760 that are sending like photos of hot girls being like,

00:45:24.960 want to meet up?

00:45:26.620 What kind of list is that?

00:45:28.160 It's crazy.

00:45:29.080 It's a Gooner list.

00:45:30.060 Your basis is on a Gooner list.

00:45:32.500 Yeah, he'll text us on days in the most fun way.

00:45:35.480 Gooner.

00:45:38.620 Gooner.

00:45:39.380 We're starting a subscription service.

00:45:40.980 That should be the subscription fanfic service.

00:45:43.660 Guys, guys.

00:45:44.000 Yes.

00:45:45.340 Oh my gosh, that's a great idea. 1.00

00:45:46.640 Do you know what a Gooner is? 1.00

00:45:47.660 No, what is it?

00:45:48.620 Keep it that way. 0.92

00:45:49.500 Like a big perv, honestly.

00:45:50.700 Stay pure.

00:45:51.160 That jacks off a lot.

00:45:52.600 That's like Gooner kind of energy.

00:45:53.780 who like jack off they're like edging in a community with other men yes exactly yeah like 1.00

00:46:01.440 a circle jerk they're having homoerotic connections they're sending each other porn so they can jack 1.00

00:46:05.920 off all day and they talk about it like it's normal they talk about it like they're like oh 1.00

00:46:09.980 i got a clock back in with other guys where is this happening which is so gay far away from us 0.93

00:46:15.560 thank god like on reddit yeah i'm sure all over there or on twitch i'm like everything that's 0.90

00:46:20.400 happening is it on reddit is that where it's i don't know thankfully we live in a very protective

00:46:24.360 gay bubble thank god that doesn't permeate our airspace but like i barely know how to use a 0.95

00:46:29.280 computer it honestly only gets in my airspace because of what i do like me fucking up men it 0.97

00:46:34.280 works its way to me unfortunately i'm sure like i don't have y'all seen the manosphere documentary 0.84

00:46:38.700 on netflix yeah did you watch it i i have not i loved it too he's the goat yeah it's honestly

00:46:45.800 so interesting to watch but he basically goes into like red pill communities but he talks with 0.91

00:46:50.440 like red pill men and uh it's so funny because in that documentary there's about three out of the 0.85

00:46:55.960 four guys he focuses on are like my ops like they've actively talked shit on me i've talked 0.88

00:47:00.560 shit on them and they don't talk about me in this movie at all but i remember watching them i was 0.97

00:47:04.500 like i have fucked up three out of the four of those wait so why is he focusing on these people 0.99

00:47:10.400 like to see like why do you so he does like he does these immersive documentaries where he goes 0.92

00:47:14.840 and spends time with people he did that series the settlers about the like west bank israeli

00:47:20.660 yeah yeah yeah um and it's also that's also he's like what's going to say but he what's wrong with

00:47:25.680 you yeah essentially he goes and he investigates and essentially just ask them questions what did

00:47:31.520 he find what did you discover about your ops he discovered that they all were were like mama's

00:47:37.620 boys who were like they have like emotionally insecure yeah it went and he like even asked

00:47:43.740 then like do you really believe this stuff or do you just say it and a lot of them don't like which 1.00

00:47:48.560 i've said too which i'm like i don't know what's worse like being actually that fucking stupid or 0.99

00:47:53.300 doing it for money i think like i don't know what's worse like they're both pretty terrible 0.98

00:47:56.720 money is maybe right a lot of them are also it's like this is a sad thing but it's like a lot of

00:48:03.120 them are young men who grew up you know in maybe like working class environments or whatever who

00:48:11.520 had a single mom and an absent father how can you be mean to women that's the greatest irony to me

00:48:17.900 but a lot of them come from single moms which is very interesting it's like they're trying to like

00:48:23.540 they're they don't have like yeah it's their vision of a man and like what it means to be a

00:48:29.540 man this is the gender binary man yeah don't get don't even get into that conversation 0.75

00:48:35.140 with them like every time i i even broach that topic even a little because they're i really hate

00:48:41.860 to when people say things like oh well i just want to like take you out of your masculine energy

00:48:47.180 and and put you more in your feminine energy like that's literally just cloak and dagger 0.95

00:48:51.340 misogyny like that's what the fuck it is and i was like and then when if i tell you masculine 0.99

00:48:55.440 feminine don't even fucking exist and that was man-made then what then we're back at zero and 0.99

00:49:00.300 they're like well now you're saying boys and girls are not real well they aren't like socially 0.99

00:49:04.980 speaking they literally aren't but that's why sometimes with people who hate me i'm like you're

00:49:09.020 not smart enough to have this conversation i think that's just tea and that's the thing that's

00:49:12.120 really sad and scary yeah i'm like you're not smart enough to have this conversation with me 0.99

00:49:15.380 so you just catch these fucking jokes and that's why sometimes they're like why don't you have like 0.98

00:49:19.200 a more in-depth conversation because they would have to understand gender is a social construct 0.99

00:49:25.820 and they can't even get there so there's really no point there's nowhere else we can go that women 0.93

00:49:29.860 are maybe you should start an academy you're right that too we need that too we need that dude

00:49:35.460 it's also like y'all are all we want to do hang out with all these guys all day being shirtless 0.93

00:49:39.900 well not even knowing what they do yeah they're just fucking shirt together y'all are weird 0.88

00:49:44.920 i'm so sorry yeah watch the manosphere well actually more importantly go see mood on tour 0.83

00:49:49.780 yeah yeah stream dancing off the wall obviously but i really i would love to know um just to kind

00:49:55.480 rap is if you could tell us what you really hope people take away from this album oh god yeah i

00:50:01.660 mean i hope it feels like reflective of people's life experiences in certain ways or that they can

00:50:07.340 see themselves in the in the stories that we're telling on the record i hope they like the music

00:50:12.440 and come to the shows um tickets on sale now where's moon.com goodbye yes um or maybe not

00:50:18.500 because it might be sold out near you so act quickly uh and yeah i hope we're able to provide

00:50:23.800 like a a space where people feel safe and like they can you know release whatever they might

00:50:31.480 need to release or that they can come and make friends i was hearing from some people the other

00:50:35.400 night that people at the shrine show like the further back you got people were creating with

00:50:39.220 different communities oh yeah they were there yeah my sister and carrie went as well to your

00:50:44.420 shrine show well like there was a group of people who got really invested in like this couple that

00:50:50.140 they were seeing and they were like when do you think they met oh interesting like they were just

00:50:55.760 making friends with each other they were making friends about but like about what was going on

00:50:59.680 in a kind of nice way yeah in a people watching way and then people like dancing with each other

00:51:04.800 because they can't see the stage so yeah so cute just what happens when you have a packed house

00:51:09.680 come on ramuna yeah yeah i feel like there's something that is revealing itself the longer

00:51:15.500 that this album is out um that's revealing itself to me like about um just desire and i think that

00:51:25.020 a lot of people that are um like on the left uh struggle right now with like how do i like

00:51:37.140 ever feel good yeah in in this horrible world like how how do i experience joy yeah and like

00:51:44.740 and also like how do I not like feel guilty about experiencing joy yeah and I think that like um

00:51:51.120 yeah there is like something in this album that um like wrestles with that and I hope that um

00:51:58.700 like people feel in touch with like yeah their desire and their kind of like life drive yeah

00:52:07.280 like because we have to be um trying to nourish that wherever we can totally like if you want to

00:52:13.440 be a part of yeah like because we are alive right now so it's like right and especially to that same

00:52:20.100 point we have a mutual friend in caleb i've had this conversation with caleb many times about like

00:52:24.760 how as tumultuous and awful as the world can be a lot of times it forces me to be more present

00:52:30.900 and experience and like really enjoy art and experience it for real because it's almost like

00:52:36.060 who knows if we're gonna get to keep doing it and so it's almost it makes it it's ironic that it

00:52:41.660 makes you want to be more present even more so and feel things for real and feel things

00:52:45.900 honestly and openly and earnestly and i think that's what y'all have done for years i think

00:52:50.880 y'all have created and cultivated a space in which people can feel all of those things at once

00:52:56.360 including survivor's guilt right of like wanting to enjoy wanting to be in love wanting to celebrate

00:53:01.480 in the middle of awfulness so i i genuinely believe y'all are one of the greatest like 0.62

00:53:08.440 bands to ever exist and listen i don't give a fuck what people think about this i think you're 0.95

00:53:13.460 better than the beatles that is my take i don't fucking care what people say that is my take 0.97

00:53:18.480 well the beatles didn't write uh big sticks so yeah i'll tell you what like 0.92

00:53:22.960 wait but did you guys see the only pull thing i was i was talking about this i was talking about

00:53:29.480 the paul mccartney interview for chicken chop date like okay before you walked in did you know

00:53:35.080 that paul mccartney wrote yesterday in his dreams no i did not but it makes sense the man was asleep 0.61

00:53:41.240 that's so fucked up when he wrote that song he was asleep he was passed out i'm like i heard that 0.71

00:53:46.540 and i was like okay like that is legit it's kind of like the michael jackson joke where he says 0.99

00:53:51.000 like if i don't act on an idea god will give it to prince god will give it to prince that's y'all

00:53:56.060 to chapel rome you're like if i don't do it now she's gonna be given to chapel you can let her

00:54:01.640 she can have whatever she wants no i want to keep it yeah she'll be fine she'll find something else

00:54:08.020 and i'll tell you what like i really think that y'all could have done yellow submarine i don't

00:54:11.740 think they could have done silk chiffon i don't think so i don't think that's to be true they

00:54:15.780 might not have the vocal range that's what i'm saying problem but i i think we would have probably

00:54:20.120 gotten made fun of for you we're we're gonna get on a whole side of like twitter where people are

00:54:24.180 like angry about the beatles and now us well they i've made this public many times when nat and

00:54:29.500 and Alex Wolfer on here, they wanted to- 0.94

00:54:31.840 Fucking with the Beatles heavy, I'm sorry, 0.96

00:54:34.820 I'm gonna generalize, it's just my experience. 0.99

00:54:36.900 In my experience, it's white people's stuff. 0.98

00:54:39.000 That's what I said. 0.99

00:54:40.500 That's exactly what I said.

00:54:42.240 If you talk to anyone in my family,

00:54:46.760 and my mom's white, but she was an upright bass player,

00:54:50.820 they would all be like, of course, 0.99

00:54:52.480 Earth, Wind & Fire is fucking better than the Beatles, 1.00

00:54:55.900 are you insane? 1.00

00:54:56.740 And they asked me, they were like, 0.98

00:54:58.480 well then who's one of the greatest acts to you?

00:55:00.640 And then I, well, and I said Prince.

00:55:03.100 And then they were like, okay, that's, yeah,

00:55:05.160 that's actually a good one. 1.00

00:55:06.220 Yeah, fuck outta here. 1.00

00:55:07.540 They thought I was gonna say some bullshit. 1.00

00:55:09.220 Fuck outta here. 1.00

00:55:10.060 Listen, unfortunately, I totally agree with you. 1.00

00:55:13.060 I like wings.

00:55:14.880 I'm a wings for, I like Paul McCartney's wings.

00:55:17.380 I like George Harrison's solo more than I like 1.00

00:55:19.600 Yeah, that shit slap. 0.99

00:55:20.680 I like Ringo cause nobody likes Ringo. 1.00

00:55:22.760 Hell yeah.

00:55:23.600 So that's why I like him.

00:55:24.440 Why not? 1.00

00:55:25.480 Fuck it. 1.00

00:55:26.240 I'm an underdog lover. 1.00

00:55:27.320 you know what i mean but i think i think y'all are gonna drop the day the beatles movie comes

00:55:32.960 out i know like paul mccartney's gonna die the day this drops and everyone's gonna call me an 0.92

00:55:37.160 asshole anyways shout out to wings shout out to wings though shout out i do want to say though 0.97

00:55:42.260 like on some real shit i really do think y'all are one of the best acts out there and have been 0.98

00:55:46.260 for a while and the fact that y'all are continuing to do it and prioritize like your fan base and 0.96

00:55:53.640 and how you guys feel and what you want to make

00:55:56.220 is I find extremely inspiring.

00:55:58.340 And I think y'all are incredible.

00:55:59.580 We're going to be selfish to the day we die.

00:56:01.260 Please do, thank God.

00:56:03.740 We prioritize our art over bankroll. 0.85
