00:01:37.260 comment section show. Sorry, me, your fave. Everybody knows me. Who cares about me? On to the

00:01:42.360 guests. Today we have the iconic, the legendary, the unbelievably beautiful and talented, Gloria.

00:01:48.020 Gloria. What's up, my friends? Welcome to the show, Queen. Thank you, babe. How are you?

00:01:55.760 I'm so good now that you're here. Even better now. Twin. Yeah, for real, you and me. I am so

00:02:02.080 excited to have you. It's been a long time coming. They're waiting for you, but you're not a local

00:02:05.940 girl. I'm not. You're a Texas sweetheart. I'm a Texas cowgirl. Where in Texas are you from? Austin.

00:02:12.720 Period. Yeah. I went there last year for tour. Oh, you went on tour? Oh, yes, for my book. Okay. Last

00:02:18.740 summer. I love that. It was really fun. She's a writer, guys. A published author. Yes. And you and I,

00:02:26.740 actually, speaking of accomplishments, you and I were both in Forbes. Oh, please not talk to us

00:02:31.440 disrespectfully, guys. Please. Talked was very nice. Talk quietly. Quietly. Lower your voice. Thank

00:02:35.980 you. But I'm obsessed with you. I think you're fantastic and amazing. Been a fan for you for a

00:02:41.740 long time, but for those who are not familiar with your lore, I'd love to know, how'd you get into

00:02:45.840 makeup? Obviously, you're a glam girl. Yes. You do many other things, too. Yes. But I would love to

00:02:50.460 know how you got into TikTok, how you started making videos, content, all of that. Guys, honestly,

00:02:55.300 it kind of came out of nowhere. Like, I was in college, and the girls love to get ready. Like, that was just

00:03:00.480 like, your friends like to get ready before you got outside. And I'm just like, oh, you guys are

00:03:06.260 putting on full faces. I feel a bit left out. You know? Like, I feel a bit left out. And so I was

00:03:11.080 exploring with makeup, like, definitely, like, my freshman year into, like, my sophomore year. And I

00:03:14.920 was like, yeah, none of this is eating how it should. I look a little casket ready. I look a little

00:03:20.360 orange. It's getting ash. It's getting ash, honey. You know? Like, it was just not a look. And it was a lot

00:03:27.020 of, like, trial and error. I was like, yeah, this is, like, why should I even have to trial

00:03:30.340 and error? Why doesn't it just work for me? You know? Especially now. Yeah. Exactly. I

00:03:34.460 shouldn't have to make it work. And so I started making videos. I think, like, my first ever

00:03:37.720 viral video was the Fenty matchstick. Or it might have been, like, the foundation, the soft.

00:03:43.080 One of the foundations, girl. Rihanna be in that lab. But, you know, I made a video, and I

00:03:47.660 was like, yeah, this is tea. It was, like, one of, like, my first big purchases, too, because

00:03:51.200 I was broke. You know? Like, I was broke, and makeup is expensive. So, yeah, like, $50 a

00:03:57.820 foundation. Guys, this cannot be the America we're in, you know? But I literally got it, and I was

00:04:03.740 like, yeah, this is tea. This is tea. Let me make a video. And I just knew that, like, the feeling

00:04:09.900 that I was feeling and experiencing, like, the other girls had to feel it, too. Yeah. The other girls had

00:04:14.740 to feel it, too. The magic. I do not want to be 50. Contra creating. You and me both, yeah. You know,

00:04:19.480 me, I will be in those books, guys. I know. Sometimes when I would do interviews in the

00:04:23.920 beginning, especially, they'd be like, oh, like, what about the future? Like, do you see

00:04:27.540 yourself doing this? I was like, I hope to God I'm not doing this in my 40s. No. Oh, God. If

00:04:32.680 that's the case, is anyone listening to me still? No, for real. Like, I'm, don't worry. Don't worry.

00:04:39.640 Well, that's so exciting. So, when it started, the ball started kind of rolling. Yes. When did you

00:04:44.540 kind of feel like, oh, shit, I think this is, like, turning into something? It was probably, like, 0.99

00:04:49.480 the, like, mid-junior year after that first semester, I was like, oh, these numbers are

00:04:55.680 low-key up. Like, I'm literally in, I'm literally in, like, my calculus class, and I'm like, girl,

00:05:01.880 these numbers are mapping. Right. And I got, like, my first partnership, I think, that second

00:05:08.620 semester. Cool. One of those second semesters. And it was, it was, it was a chunk of change.

00:05:12.400 And I was like, oh, no one can ever call me broke again. Like, you know, I was literally just,

00:05:17.320 like, what am I gonna buy, guys? Like, it's definitely been a trip. It's definitely been

00:05:21.600 a trip for sure. But blessings, you know? I didn't think that this would turn into a full-time

00:05:26.660 career, honestly. Like, social media is, like, one of those things that just, like, once it goes,

00:05:31.000 it goes. And you don't even realize it until it's happening. For real, yeah. I feel like, I'm sure you

00:05:35.740 get that question a lot now, especially for young girls who are in school and content creating at the

00:05:40.840 same time. I've told people, though, I'm like, don't quit your job and don't quit school off one video.

00:05:45.640 Like, you gotta be doing it for a while and, like, establish. You really do. And it's definitely,

00:05:50.820 like, because I was also working two full-time jobs, too. Damn, what were you doing? Girl, 0.98

00:05:55.100 I used to work front desk at a hotel. I think a lot of people don't know that about me. But

00:05:58.660 I was working. I had to work. You were, like, a front desk girl at just a regular, like, chain hotel?

00:06:03.400 Yes, a regular hotel, chain hotel. Look at you. I was literally, I was there from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

00:06:07.860 And at 11.30 when I got home, I would, that camera was out. You're crazy. Yeah, I was literally 0.96

00:06:14.080 suffering. What was your other job? You were working at the hotel? Yeah, it was just two

00:06:18.120 front desk hotel jobs. Oh, damn, you were just bouncing between them? Yeah, I was just bouncing 0.99

00:06:21.720 between them. Like, girl, I had to get my money up somehow. Look at you. Yeah, for sure. Well,

00:06:26.460 and that's a testament, too, to wanting to make this work also, which I've also told people. I've

00:06:31.600 mentioned before that, like, nothing's gonna stop you. If you really want to do it, no matter how

00:06:37.440 busy you are, you're gonna make something. Yeah, you're gonna make it shake for sure. But it's still

00:06:42.160 a difficult task at that because it's a lot of work. It's definitely not as, like, like, body

00:06:47.320 extraneous as, like, any other job that I've had. Yeah, it's social media is quite easy compared to

00:06:54.220 most jobs. Yes. Yeah, literally, like, in a sense of, like, let's be honest, guys, like, it's not as

00:07:00.380 terrible as a lot of people make it out to seem. It's a different type of stress, though. Yeah,

00:07:04.060 exactly. That's what I've told people, too. I've said, I feel like it's absolutely 100% not

00:07:09.800 the hardest job in the world ever in a million years, right? Ever, never. It just, the problems

00:07:15.560 it gives you are things that I've said, no matter how many jobs you've had, it couldn't prepare you

00:07:21.380 for the problems you get because they're so unique. Like, they're so specific to the job that that's the

00:07:25.680 only difference is really the stress is, like you said, it's just different. It's just a different

00:07:28.500 type of stress. You make a shake. You make a work. Yeah. And then when you have normal horrible

00:07:33.840 jobs, you're like, I'd rather be doing this. Right. Hello. Yeah. Than my other horrible job.

00:07:40.280 Exactly. Exactly. Were you always a glam girl? Were you always, like, a makeup girly? No, I was kind

00:07:45.900 of weird growing up, you know? I was kind of into, like, you know, I was in those books. I also love

00:07:54.640 Club Penguin. Oh, period. You know, like, I was just, I was a little weird little girl. We are

00:07:59.340 familiar. We are big fans of Club Penguin over here. You know, like. As you could see from the

00:08:02.520 silent, yes. Yes. Like. My producer literally went, yes, yes, yes, yes. Thank God you brought

00:08:10.160 it up, yes. Honestly, like, I just was, I was just, and not Nintendo, I wasn't doing anything

00:08:14.820 serious. I think, like, makeup and, like, just, like, growing into beauty was certainly something

00:08:19.300 that I had to grow into because I also grew up dark skin and just, like, I was not the

00:08:23.440 beauty standard and people were just mean. Whenever you don't look white, I'm so sorry. 0.99

00:08:30.000 A big question mark on the end. You know, they will tear you up. Yeah. Okay. Really bad.

00:08:34.700 So, I just already had, like, this weird, like, perception of beauty and, you know, it took

00:08:39.380 me a long time to really step into, like, my identity and, like, know who I was and, like,

00:08:43.240 learn who I was because I feel like it was something that other people always tried to control

00:08:47.700 or, like, oh, you're not beautiful or you're too dark or you're this and you're that.

00:08:52.140 And, baby, I'm a kid. Yeah. You know? Like, I'm a kid. Yeah. Like, let me live. Yeah.

00:08:57.740 But it definitely was a learning curve. But I will say, like, in college is when I really

00:09:01.800 was, like, okay, yeah, like, I kind of, like, full glam. Like, let me put it on, you know?

00:09:05.580 So. I love that for you. I was a full glam girl, too, in college. I think that's when

00:09:09.720 I really started trying to spread my wings. Yeah. But that was, like, 2013 to, like,

00:09:15.720 2017 was when I was in college. And that was, like, the super cut contour, the whitest highlight.

00:09:23.940 Right. No blush, no lip liner. Did you see, like, the waterline? Like, the white waterline?

00:09:27.320 Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. If I could get it in there, yes. Yes. Most of the time I had,

00:09:31.080 like, a winged liner, but, like, the wing was so long it could touch in the damn near the

00:09:35.660 end of my eyebrow. But it gave. Like, let's bring it back. Let's bring back the drama. And I had 0.52

00:09:38.560 the biggest mink lash you could ever, ever see. That 25 millimeter from the beauty supply 0.94

00:09:43.660 store. Yeah. I said, I'm spending $9 on a lash. For sure I am. Yes. Because I want

00:09:48.580 them to touch my eyebrows. Yeah. Like, my way, love. Yeah. And I went to college in

00:09:53.740 Hawaii. So, I was wearing fake lashes at the beach. I didn't give a fuck. And you

00:09:57.280 know it's humid out there. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't give a fuck. I know a corner was

00:10:00.600 lifted. Yeah. I said, I had duo on my person. Yeah. Duo eyelash glue. Yeah. Kept it in my

00:10:05.500 bag at all times. Listen, that duo. Don't ever play about that duo eyelash glue, y'all. I

00:10:10.820 love duo. Yeah. It smells bad, but it lasts. It lasts. There has to be some type of

00:10:15.360 toxin in it. For sure. When did you start feeling like you were making an impact with

00:10:20.040 you doing beauty especially? Because like you were saying too, not the beauty center

00:10:24.980 by any stretch. It's always Eurocentric. Yeah. Oftentimes. Right. So, when did you start 0.97

00:10:29.740 feeling like you were making an impact in that? Honestly, it wasn't really like any

00:10:35.380 accolades or anything. It was like the DMs that I was getting from like a lot of like the

00:10:38.560 dark-skinned girls and like the South Pseudo girls specifically. Like, you know, there is 0.99

00:10:43.340 a lack of representation in like every industry. Like, not even just beauty. Like, I think on

00:10:47.560 a larger scale, we don't see a lot of dark-skinned women in anything really. Right. And so, it 1.00

00:10:53.740 was more so hearing that like, oh, like I didn't even think that this was possible because

00:10:58.020 I haven't seen it, but I'm watching you do it. And that inspires me to shoot for the

00:11:02.840 moon, you know? Yeah. Absolutely. That was, for me, just like, wow. Like, I actually cannot

00:11:07.680 stop doing this because it's really 12-year-olds watching me and like looking up to me. And

00:11:12.080 I wish that when I was young, I had that type of like figure to look up to and be like, you

00:11:16.920 know what? I can do anything that I put my brain to. Yeah. Anything that my medulla reaches

00:11:21.320 for, it reaches, you know? But it just wasn't a huge reality for me. So, to know that I was

00:11:27.080 inspiring like larger than the masses, but like girls that like look like me, that was like, yeah,

00:11:32.920 girl get to work. That stuff gets you emotional. Yeah. I bet. It makes me emotional too when I hear 0.95

00:11:37.600 from my own girls, like girls from my own culture especially. It really touches me. It does because

00:11:42.920 it's like, you know, we've had it hard, guys. We've had it so hard. And also just like experiencing

00:11:48.400 life just not being the beauty standard is a tough one. Yeah, absolutely. It's a tough

00:11:54.200 one for sure. And then we live in a very secular society too, so. Yeah. I'm praying for all

00:12:00.120 of us. Okay. Well, and that's what I was going to ask. Like, was there ever a time that you

00:12:04.920 felt represented, whether it was in social media or in media itself? Or did you become

00:12:10.400 that representation? I feel like a little bit of both. Like, I think for South Sudan specifically,

00:12:15.700 like a lot of South Sudanese women are models. Like, we see them on the runway, right? But I 0.58

00:12:20.880 know that comes with its own demon, honestly. Like, the way that they view us and like masculine

00:12:24.620 us. Like, they just, first of all, they be shaving off our hair. Like, they literally are

00:12:29.840 just like, let's shave it. Let's shave it. Like, a lot of South Sudanese models just like, they just 1.00

00:12:33.760 have to shave their hair to like walk the runway. And it's just like, side eye, you know? And even just

00:12:40.360 like, the way they're portrayed in media. Like, the way that a lot of magazines and just

00:12:46.000 like, a lot of publications will constantly like, darken. The exposure will be brought

00:12:52.040 down to here to make us look darker. And it's like, you know, okay. Like, I guess that's

00:12:58.240 strange. But, you know, yeah, it's just like a, it's like a really quick side eye. So it's

00:13:04.360 definitely a demon in its own. But I just have noticed as I've grown in this industry

00:13:08.960 for sure, like, there's a lot that has happened. There's a lot of representation that has happened

00:13:14.360 on my part. And not only is it just like dark skinned women, but also just like African 1.00

00:13:18.480 baddies. Like, you guys can do it, you know? Absolutely. Yeah. Well, that's what I loved 0.96

00:13:24.680 about your content too, other than your reviews, because I just think your reviews are so funny

00:13:28.760 and entertaining. But on top of that, you're making a real difference because there have been

00:13:32.500 very serious established brands that have brought you in to help them understand better on how to

00:13:37.760 better make colors for women with your skin tone. Like, what has that experience been like? I think

00:13:42.300 that's fucking awesome. Yeah. No, I honestly, I love consulting. I think a lot of people don't have 0.97

00:13:48.680 a lot of insight on what it actually like means to consult. And like on a larger scale, a lot of

00:13:54.860 these companies are not testing on people with darker complexions. And that's why there's these like 1.00

00:13:59.460 large discrepancies in these products and these new launches that they have because it's like,

00:14:02.960 which is insane. Yeah, it's absolutely insane. They're not testing it on people that look like

00:14:06.140 less. And, um, beyond that, there are no black people on the teams. Okay. From the cosmetic chemists 1.00

00:14:12.300 to like, even just like the people that work in like the PR that are hiring the girls for like the 1.00

00:14:16.140 campaigns or just, you know, even like the little beauty campaigns and like the ads and stuff that

00:14:21.860 they're running. Like there are not a lot of black people in those rooms. Right. So with consulting, 0.72

00:14:27.660 I think people are just like, okay, well, I don't, they just make the shade to begin with

00:14:30.940 that. And I'm just like, well, they're not. So, you know, how do we change? Exactly. How do we do

00:14:37.000 that tangible change? How do we make it work? Cause at the end of the day too, like not everyone is

00:14:40.640 chronically online. Like if a dark skinned girl walks into Sephora and she has never seen my videos

00:14:44.880 before and she doesn't know who I am and she goes to whoever she goes to and there's not a shade for 0.63

00:14:49.940 her, but she tries to make it work. Like that's an experience, a lived in experience that so many

00:14:54.220 people live in. Right. And so why not make sure that there is access to shades for people with

00:14:59.300 dark complexions? Like not everyone's online, you know, like, yeah, as much as I would love to say

00:15:03.140 like, oh my gosh, like guys, like just don't shop at the brands and don't do this. Don't do this.

00:15:08.540 Like a bigger picture. Yeah. There are people that are going to be shopping at these brands

00:15:12.160 regardless. And so, hello, if we can get rid of the trauma of swatching a shade and it being not 0.99

00:15:17.840 the cutest, like let's do it. Like let's make it accessible. And that's what consulting is. It's like,

00:15:23.260 you're going to have to continue to step out of comfort to make that tangible change.

00:15:27.040 And I think a lot of people have a hard time with conceptualizing that it's, we're in a society

00:15:32.920 where black people and dark skinned people are just not seen. We're not validated. We're not even,

00:15:38.740 we're not even thought of most of the time. Right. And so it takes a lot to actually just like sit

00:15:44.300 there and be like, you know what? It's really above me, but what can I do internally to make sure

00:15:49.220 that this is getting shifted industry wide? Absolutely. And you got to make a shake. You

00:15:53.680 just got to do it. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. It's, it's one of those things where it's like, yeah,

00:15:57.640 we could, we could cut out ones and we should that are blatant. Right. But for other ones,

00:16:02.880 like we deserve to be here. Like we should, there should be change. Exactly. Why can I only use three

00:16:08.280 brands? Yeah, exactly. You know, like it's like forcing your way in the door. I, I, I feel so strongly

00:16:14.300 about that. Like, and that's why I really fuck with your content, especially that kind of content, 0.99

00:16:18.700 because I think it, it's, it's very brave to do stuff like that, especially with brands, because 0.97

00:16:23.860 as influencers who, especially if you're in the beauty space, you work with brands and they all

00:16:29.280 talk to each other and they all consult with each other. And it's very possible that if you piss one

00:16:33.520 off, like they won't work with you and they'll tell others to not work with you, but you're not afraid

00:16:37.300 of that because what matters more is the experience of every consumer ever who wants to try makeup.

00:16:43.020 Like that matters. And I, that's why I, I've, I was like, I know you're with the shits because 0.99

00:16:47.540 you're not afraid of shit like that. And I was like, she just like me for real. No, for real. 1.00

00:16:51.680 Like y'all could blacklist me. It's okay. Like I also just like recognize too, that like, I,

00:16:58.060 you know, baby, I grew up broke the $10,000 that y'all want for me. You can keep it. Like you can keep

00:17:06.020 it. Honestly. I just, it is what it is. You're going to get blacklisted. You're going to, you know,

00:17:10.920 be confronted with really uncomfortable conversations and you have to navigate through

00:17:15.720 that in a lens. That's like, okay, how can I productively make tangible change and do it

00:17:21.940 unapologetically? If you're not willing to do it unapologetically despite the backlash or despite

00:17:26.380 what other people think, despite what these beauty brands are going to do to you, then nothing is

00:17:30.660 going to happen. And we're going to continue to be in this cycle of like, okay, there aren't shades.

00:17:34.160 Y'all are still launching this and doing that. No, these beauty brands, y'all can be a little 0.77

00:17:38.440 afraid. Don't let me get that product. Okay. That's why I think you're so funny. Cause I was

00:17:45.380 like, you're literally the me of makeup world. I got things to say, you know? And that's, and I,

00:17:53.080 I agree with you wholeheartedly on the money part too, because I've said before, I'm like,

00:17:56.760 if getting the money changes the way I would talk or act or feel about certain things, like

00:18:02.680 naturally, I don't want it. I don't need it. I don't need it at all. If it's going to make

00:18:07.100 me start acting different because you're all, this has been pissing me off. It's not like

00:18:11.200 it's new. Right. And it's like, I've lived a life in this skin color. Do you think that

00:18:15.480 I need this measly $5,000? Like please. And like, it's a lot of money. Like sometimes it's

00:18:21.500 like, wow, like that's really a lot of money to like, just, just turn away. But at the end

00:18:25.700 of the day, like what, what is the goal? Larger picture, you know, like, and aside from

00:18:30.480 like the money to like morale, just general ethics. Yeah. Please. I want to sleep at

00:18:36.240 night. Me too. Thank you. I was like, I believe in karma. Yes. I believe in it very sincerely.

00:18:41.480 Yes. Yes. What's been the best experience working with a brand that you've had so far?

00:18:45.880 Probably. I'm sure you'll have many more, you know, many, many more. I honestly have loved

00:18:51.040 working with road. I think team road is just like, I love that. Yeah. They have made a lot

00:18:55.840 of great changes. And also above that, they're just so eager to listen. Um, and aside from

00:19:02.920 like the product in itself and like developing the products and like consulting on a lot of

00:19:06.480 those products, it's also like their marketing, like road, we bring it up. Those in South Sudanese 0.98

00:19:11.160 models. Like, I'm so sorry. We do not see that in a lot of beauty campaigns where it's true.

00:19:16.200 It's like, we're seeing the darkest shade actually being represented and not just the product, 0.86

00:19:21.420 but like the actual campaigns worldwide. Like, I think that is just like a really huge marker

00:19:27.700 of like how, how much they actually want to be intentional and the inclusive products.

00:19:32.820 Yeah. They don't just talk about it. They are about it. Yeah. For real. And I, I really

00:19:36.780 just like, I've consulted with Tony with road. Me and Tony are always, let's get to work.

00:19:42.640 You know what I mean?

00:19:43.640 You guys are always cooking in that lab.

00:19:45.080 Yes. We're always cooking. Um, and to just know that they're willing to hear our insight

00:19:49.140 and like, sometimes I'll be like, Oh, this is not good. Like this is not good. And there

00:19:53.620 are other times that I'm just like, okay, this is amazing. But also they go as far as

00:19:57.200 making sure they are black cosmetic chemists. Like love that. Number one, we get to work

00:20:02.280 because the person that's in that lab looks like us too. And that makes like the biggest

00:20:06.440 difference. It matters. Yeah, it really does. Absolutely. Really does. Do you have any like dream

00:20:11.020 collaborations or consulting gigs in your mind? We can manifest here for you.

00:20:15.700 Um, honestly, or even a product of your own, I think product of my own for sure. I'm like

00:20:22.040 in that time of my career where I'm just like, you know, like, let's just explore some options.

00:20:26.180 I'm also young. So it's like, I got some time on my hands. I'm like really enjoying this

00:20:29.920 like time of life that I'm in currently. So I know a beauty brand will come eventually,

00:20:33.260 but I will be eating up for the dark skin girls. No tax. Okay. What about other goals 1.00

00:20:39.320 outside of beauty? Do you have any other goals or talents you want to pursue?

00:20:42.380 Um, honestly, I think I'm really chilling. I'm really chilling. I like to run. I've seen,

00:20:50.400 I was going to ask about you running because I see that you love to run. Yeah. I love that

00:20:54.260 about, you know, explain it to me. I think it might be a little bit in my genetics.

00:21:02.260 I'm so sorry, but I just think South Pseudo people just love to run. You know, like I think 1.00

00:21:07.800 also too, like I was also in this like really like pivotal part of my career and like this past

00:21:11.460 year where the hate just got so bad and I needed to like express that in a way that was like actually

00:21:17.840 like positive, like healthy. Yes, exactly. And one thing that anxiety and depression love the most

00:21:23.680 is sitting still and like being in stillness because you're not doing anything. You're just

00:21:27.780 soaking in those feelings. And it really took me being like, girl, get up, get up. And it started

00:21:33.480 off as walks. And then I was like, okay, these walks are cute. You know, let's try to run.

00:21:38.620 And when I started to run, I was like, okay, I feel so much better. Like I really do. Um,

00:21:44.160 and I just kind of stuck and I didn't realize I was good at it, but I think women are good at 1.00

00:21:49.040 everything that they put their mind to. So it is what it is too. Yeah. I'm always like, well,

00:21:52.840 she can probably conquer it. I'm sure she can. I know she can be talking about myself. Yes.

00:21:57.720 It's like, we can do anything. Um, and you have any running goals, a marathon. Yeah. I was going

00:22:03.320 to say, have you, have you done anything yet? Like a 5k half? I haven't done anything yet. I think

00:22:08.400 I'll probably start off with like a 10k. Like I'd be running like six miles every other day ish,

00:22:13.140 you know, I'd be like crazy, but that 20, what is it? 23.6. It's like 26. I think is a marathon.

00:22:18.960 26.2. Yeah. Something like that. Me not even knowing. Cause I'm never going to do it. No

00:22:23.780 matter how much should I talk almost, I would say quarterly on this show. I'm like, I should

00:22:28.360 run a marathon. I'm lying. I'm not telling the truth. I'll do a half, you know, like I can

00:22:33.800 probably do a half, but that 26 might see me in 20 things. I don't know. I feel like you'd

00:22:41.280 master it. You seem like someone who's a real like hyper fixation. Like this is my thing. I'm

00:22:45.980 going to conquer it and then move on to the next thing. Yeah, I am. I'm like,

00:22:48.960 definitely like once I, once I reach a certain goal, I'm just like, let's, let's

00:22:52.540 continue. Yeah. Yeah. You're, you're like, uh, mastering all trades and then being

00:22:57.100 like, all right, onto the next one. Onto the next. Like what's next. I have some fun

00:23:01.400 facts about you though. Okay. If you'd like, if we'd like to get into them, let's

00:23:04.600 get into them. Uh, it says you played volleyball in high school. Yes. What'd you

00:23:07.740 play in volleyball? I played outside hitter. Me too. Queen. Cause you're tall. I'm so

00:23:13.700 you're a tall girl. So tall. Did you like sports in high school? I did. I

00:23:18.940 feel like I've always had like an athletic bone. Um, and I think it was also

00:23:22.660 just like an outlet to like get it out. Same. Athleticism. Can I say not common

00:23:28.000 in Hollywood? It's not. It's not. And we can say it. It's fine. All of you are

00:23:31.800 artsy girls. I was an athlete too in high school. I was an athlete. Okay. I was on

00:23:37.260 varsity guys. I was talking to one of my friends and she was like, well, you would

00:23:44.160 know, you were a big, uh, like drama nerd in high school. Right. And I go, no, I

00:23:48.360 was not. Me personally. I was like, actually, no, not even me. She was really, what were

00:23:53.420 you in high school? What did you do in high school? And I was like, I was an

00:23:56.300 athlete. Yeah. And she was like, really? Cause she's known me for like years.

00:24:00.160 And then we're tall. Yeah. That's the first thing they throw us into is go play some

00:24:04.360 sports. They'd be recruiting me in the parking lot as soon as I got out. It was funny

00:24:08.120 because there was one, and this is like looking back, this feels progressive, um, which maybe

00:24:13.680 it is in an essence, but like we used to have spirit week, you know, spirit weeks in high

00:24:16.920 school. There was one in my high school when I was a junior that was gender switch day. 0.83

00:24:21.760 So we literally dressed as the opposite gender, which is, it feels progressive now. Cause a 1.00

00:24:27.120 lot of men came to school dressed as women. They were like, Oh, it was crazy. So I dressed

00:24:30.580 like a boy, obviously. So I dressed like basically like a teenage someone boy. That's what

00:24:36.120 I wore to school. When I tell you I had a football coach chase me down because he thought I was

00:24:40.760 a transfer to the school. Cause he forgot. And I said, well, that hurts my feelings.

00:24:45.240 That kind of sucks. But you know what? Like I also was like really overly masculinized 0.94

00:24:51.120 too. Like, yeah, absolutely. Like just being tall and black and just like not fitting into 1.00

00:24:59.860 that like beauty standard. Whatever they're considering in their head. Yeah. It was so insane.

00:25:05.620 Oh yeah. Even now, even now when I meet fans, sometimes I, I, I joke about it on the show

00:25:09.720 a lot. Sometimes when fans take pictures with me, they'll like hold my stomach. Like we're

00:25:13.540 going to prom. Hey, why would you do that? Don't do that to me.

00:25:17.620 Side eye. Don't you do that to me. Put it on my lower back. Like a normal, like I am a woman.

00:25:23.840 Yeah. Listen, put it on the curve of my back.

00:25:26.840 Please. Like, please. I know you feel it. Okay. I was like, I pull up my top. All right. Maybe

00:25:33.440 you need to see it. Yes. Have you been watching any, do you watch any shows? Do you, do you

00:25:38.480 like what I do? What have you been watching lately? Attack on Titan. Ooh. Okay. You're

00:25:43.340 an anime girl. Look at you. You know, I'm one of many talents guys. I love that. No, I

00:25:49.480 love that about you. That's wonderful. Is that, is that your favorite kind of TV show? Do you

00:25:53.580 have any other facts? Um, you know, I, I have like that, the anime version and my, you know,

00:25:58.400 personality. And then I have like, Oh, I can get down on some vampire diaries. I hold

00:26:03.240 on. Girl. No idea what you just started by bringing up vampire diaries. I can get down

00:26:06.000 on some vampire diaries. That show. I was balls deep in that show. It was so ahead of its

00:26:12.400 time. Nobody understands me when I talk about vampire diaries. No. I'm telling you, I get

00:26:17.740 it. I get it. The way they did our girl. What is her name? Our which girl? Bonnie.

00:26:23.580 Bonnie. Bonnie, you deserve better sister. They were trying to get rid of Bonnie. And 1.00

00:26:27.880 she said, no, ma'am, I'm staying here all nine fucking seasons. All nine. All nine. And 0.99

00:26:33.840 I feel like Klaus was misunderstood. I agree. I loved him. Yeah. His character arc. I was

00:26:38.380 like, I'm into this. Yes. I agree. And Elena. Yeah. Elena. Girl. She did a lot. She did

00:26:47.780 do a lot. Were you a team Stefan girl, team Damon? Oh, Damon Salvatore.

00:26:54.600 You're blushing like he's here. I'm sorry. I really like Damon. You really ate. But I

00:26:59.280 honestly really like Marcellus. Like. OKT. Loved him. Marcellus. Yeah. When they moved to

00:27:03.800 New Orleans. Yes. Hell yeah. Yes. Every, every guy on that show. I was like, period, period,

00:27:08.720 period, period. Period, period, period. To most of them. Right. Yeah. Most of them. Not all.

00:27:12.020 I will say. Well, I really. You know, like, let's not gas them too much. Right. A man

00:27:18.860 is a man. Right. I mean, true. True. I felt like when I was watching Vampire Diaries, I

00:27:23.700 was a Stefan girl. Personally. Stefan's cute. Yeah. He was cute. I just liked him better

00:27:28.560 than Damon. Damon really annoyed me in the beginning. Well, Damon acts like a child sometimes.

00:27:32.640 Right. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. But he was handsome. He was. Yeah. And they both were.

00:27:37.000 And I was like, you know, what's funny is like when I watch shows with like love triangles between

00:27:40.160 brothers. Like if you watch the summer, I turn pretty. I haven't watched that yet. It's good.

00:27:45.080 Okay. You should watch it. It's on Netflix. It's yeah. No, it's on prime. Amazon prime. It's

00:27:49.440 so cornball. Like it's so cornball, but it's like perfect. Yeah. Oh yeah. No, no. It's on that

00:27:55.660 show. Whenever there's girls deciding between brothers and they're kind of jumping between

00:28:00.260 and in my head, in my very logical brain, I'm like, just pick one. Yeah. After a while

00:28:06.960 though, when I really think about it, I'm all, I'd fuck around too. If that was me, 0.99

00:28:10.560 you know, Drew, listen, if that was me, listen, if that was me, I'd have to see.

00:28:19.180 You know, like Elena really irritated me, but like, I understand the lore. Me too. I guess

00:28:24.820 I get it, but it's just like, we could have, we could have moved with the program a little

00:28:29.100 faster. You had nine seasons. Yeah. We could have wrapped it up a little sooner. You know,

00:28:32.600 like wrap it up, please. I feel the same way about that, but I was like, I'd fuck around 0.99

00:28:38.380 too. Shit. I'm talking all that shit. But if that were me, I'd be like, all right, which 1.00

00:28:42.880 one am I doing this week? Okay. This next one, it says that you went viral for your darkest

00:28:48.780 shade TikTok series where you test a makeup brand's darkest shade of foundation on her

00:28:52.820 skin. Yes. Uh, so when did you start that trend initially? Do you remember? I don't know.

00:28:57.700 It's been years. It's been, I think like three years, I think like a year and a half

00:29:00.520 into my journey is when I was like, maybe even a year. Have you noticed it's like really

00:29:04.140 picked up now? Yeah. Every time I post a video was give it 30 minutes. You better hope it's

00:29:08.880 not you. Like you better hope honey, but don't check social. Yes. Don't. Uh, and then on

00:29:19.260 here, it says that you've been hired as a consultant for major beauty brands like road and Patrick

00:29:22.940 Ta. Yes. And we talked all about that. What do you like to do for fun? Like something not

00:29:28.660 work related or running like a weirdo. Let's see. Oh, was that a slug?

00:29:36.360 Because you like to run like a weirdo, like a weirdo. What do I like to do for fun? That's 0.64

00:29:41.580 honestly a great question. You have no hobbies. Me either. Hobbies. I have no hobbies. Sometimes

00:29:48.060 I think I do. And I'm like, that's not a hobby. That's work. Like sometimes I'll tell myself

00:29:52.220 I have hobbies, but it's work. Yeah. It's something that's making my career better. I'm like,

00:29:56.340 well, that's work. Yeah. I feel like volleyball. Like I'll, you know, pick up volleyball every

00:30:00.960 four months, you know, quarterly. Yeah. It's like a quarterly volleyball session, you know,

00:30:05.860 but that's about it. I like to read sometimes. What do you like to read? Let's see. What

00:30:11.160 am I reading right now? Have you read the new, um, Hunger Games book? I haven't. No. Okay.

00:30:14.980 I'm on chapter one. And it's kind of eating, you know? You said I'm one chapter in, but

00:30:21.880 so far no complaints. No complaints. Like, and we will hope that I can finish it in the

00:30:26.400 next month. Okay. Do you like to, are you like to read fiction or nonfiction? Um, I

00:30:31.700 think I'm a little bit of a nonfiction girl. Okay. For sure. Like nonfiction for sure.

00:30:36.180 But I also like, you know, I was reading, what was I reading? Like who, who was it? Who

00:30:42.040 was it? This was probably like a year and a half ago, guys. Anyways, I went to a

00:30:45.500 store and I saw my beautiful miss Viola Davis on a book. Yes. I had to grab it. Love

00:30:51.040 her. I had to grab it. And I was literally reading, reading, reading. And I was like,

00:30:54.380 it makes sense why you are the baddest bitch on a planet. Like, I'm just like, she is 1.00

00:31:01.320 really her, you know? So I have moments where I'm like, I'm in my little Viola Davis

00:31:05.460 books and then I have my like self-help books. Nice. But not every day is self-help.

00:31:12.040 Like it's okay to, to crash out sometimes. Yeah. Read something fun. Well, speaking

00:31:16.980 of women we love, we were just talking about Cowboy Carter and you already went, you went

00:31:20.320 to opening night. Yes? I did. How was it? It was great. It was great. And you know

00:31:24.260 what? Like I am so glad Beyonce said, you know what? You actually don't have to go to

00:31:30.200 math class today, Blue. You know, like I'm so glad because the way Blue came out and she 0.70

00:31:35.440 said, Oh, y'all dragged me to filth last year. And she gave hip. She gave hair flip. I said, 0.92

00:31:42.380 don't you guys ever play with Blue. Ever again. Ever again. I know choreography. She upped 0.97

00:31:47.420 it times a thousand since Renaissance. She ate so bad. That was honestly like, like, you

00:31:53.300 know, I love Beyonce, but I was really there for blue. Like blue ain't now. Yeah. Who's

00:31:59.980 like a dream person you would love to meet? Honestly, I have to say a shock gay. Ooh, 1.00

00:32:07.860 that's a great choice. Like after I saw his little interview, what was it? I don't know

00:32:13.140 what it was, but you guys are going to find it. It was, he was getting ready for something

00:32:16.780 in London. Right. I think it was like a GQ interview or something like that. Yeah. I said,

00:32:20.960 you are too icy and fly. I must meet you in this life. Like just one time. Yeah. Shoot

00:32:27.300 your shot with whoever you want on here. Yeah. You, whoever, do you add anyone else you want 1.00

00:32:31.440 to shoot your shot at? Let's lay it down. Lay down the foundation for you. I feel like 0.98

00:32:35.640 I met Rihanna and that was like, Ooh, that's fun. Yeah. That's, you know, I will never shut

00:32:40.360 up about that. Right. Okay. I feel the same way. That was that. I'm a happy girl. That's

00:32:45.100 it. A shock gay, please. Please. Just one time. Give me five minutes of your time. 1.00

00:32:50.780 Just five minutes. I got things to say. I'd love that. I would love to know too. Um,

00:33:00.580 if you have any, I have to pause. Wait, please. That rock on your finger. You're married.

00:33:07.700 No, I'm engaged. Oh my God. Drew. Why he iced you out like that? I know he did a good ass

00:33:14.900 job. Picked it all by himself. Can you believe it? I would be my husband. Yeah. 0.97

00:33:18.840 I literally am not shutting up. Look at that rock. You need to start off the show with,

00:33:25.980 Hey guys, welcome to. I know. Every time someone says, Oh my gosh. Or congratulations on your

00:33:30.520 engagement. I'm always like, thank you. I know he did a good ass job. I literally love

00:33:37.340 it for you. I'm sorry. I was blinded. I'm sorry. I know when I tell people about it, um, cause

00:33:43.200 sometimes people ask me if I knew what I wanted, that's why it looks so pretty. And I was like,

00:33:47.200 no, I didn't send him any pictures of any rings at all. He just built it by himself. Oh, he built it.

00:33:53.080 Went to a jeweler. Hello. He built a, I know that's right. I know that's right. Drew. And then he was

00:34:01.840 like, it's funny too. Cause the main stone is lab grown, a lab grown diamond. Okay. Period. But he was

00:34:06.660 like, well, lab grown. Cause it's better for the environment. I said, it's my fucking king right

00:34:10.600 there. Sustainability king. My sustainable king. Yes. Yes. I love it. I love this for you. Thank you 1.00

00:34:19.120 so much. Also, do you have an aura ring? You and me both queen, you know, not sponsored. I'm obsessed

00:34:24.740 with that motherfucker. Oh, me too. Because why am I stressed for half of the day? Okay. Like it's not 1.00

00:34:30.880 making sense. I know I wake up and check that thing. Like it's the stocks. I checked my aura ring up.

00:34:36.540 I'm like, what score did I get today? What's going on? Um, she sends me notifications a bit

00:34:42.560 too much. I don't want to stand up right now. Actually, you know, like what a girl 1.00

00:34:46.680 rest. They're like, stretch your legs a little bit. Mind your business queen. I know mine sent 0.99

00:34:51.160 me an alert this morning that said your period might start today. I said, Oh girl, you're

00:34:55.840 in my business too much. But you know what? I think that's like the best feature. I do

00:34:59.860 love it. It'll tell you when you're in your luteal phase and like flick your face.

00:35:03.120 Yeah. That's why I'm a brat right now. Oh, that's why I'm in such a bad mood. It's

00:35:09.420 making sense. I was telling my therapist that cause I told her I got the aura ring

00:35:12.780 to track my stress from work and sleep to make sure I take better care of myself and

00:35:17.920 my period. And I was telling her, I was like, yeah, I'm like having a track, but

00:35:21.940 sometimes I feel like it tells me too many things. Right. I was like, okay. Act like you

00:35:27.780 know me. Right. I don't care about no Ram. All I know is I try. Like, please. Laura. 0.99

00:35:37.940 Do you have any big goals for yourself? Like any dream things you want to call you've

00:35:42.160 accomplished so much in such a short amount of time, which is incredible. You know us.

00:35:47.240 It was really like four 30 and a 30 was one of them. First of all, 23 first South

00:35:52.620 pseudo babe on that list. That's for me. I was like, yeah, I did the thing. And then

00:35:57.400 honestly, just like a really successful makeup brand in the future. It might be

00:36:00.380 when I'm 30. It might be when I'm 40. Don't ask too many questions. No, but yeah, I think

00:36:06.180 that's really it. And also just like, guys, when I pop off the face of this

00:36:09.680 internet, I don't want to hear nothing. Like I don't want to hear nothing. I believe

00:36:14.040 that about you though. Oh, I will. I love that about you though. You're just like me.

00:36:17.620 It's like, this isn't, nothing's holding me here. Like other than just desire. Right.

00:36:22.200 Yeah. The girls, we've had enough. When the want, when the want goes away. Yeah,

00:36:27.840 for sure. Cause I just feel like I want to live a life not being constantly overly

00:36:32.600 perceived at one point in my life. Like I'm going to delete the socials and I'm

00:36:36.780 going to go live in a bungalow. I love that. That's so true. I love that about you. And

00:36:42.580 that's the beautiful thing. I honestly think too, that's a big reason why, uh, the

00:36:47.220 universe rewards people like you, other than you just being very important and

00:36:51.040 talented. I think it's too, it's like you, it's not making who you are. It's just

00:36:56.120 something that happened to you. And I think that's a beautiful thing. It's a

00:36:58.940 beautiful thing. And I'm like, I'm so grateful, but there comes a point.

00:37:03.060 There comes a point. It's a point. Wrap it up. Let's wrap it up. Yeah. The hate is

00:37:09.100 crazy. And that's something I want to commend you on too. Cause it is fucking hard,

00:37:12.380 especially dealing with hate just in general online is a lot, but dealing with hate as a 0.98

00:37:16.780 marginalized person and also as someone who is brave and speaks their mind like

00:37:21.720 you do and is also like unafraid to be themselves and share their very honest

00:37:27.580 opinions and still show up every day. It's fucking hard being the first. It's 0.94

00:37:31.440 really hard. It is. It is. So I commend you. I will take a nap. So guys, don't worry.

00:37:37.860 And I commend you because they be, but you know what? You be dragging up. You be on their

00:37:44.720 ass. And I love it because I just don't understand why people think that they can 1.00

00:37:49.500 talk to influencers anyhow and not expect us to like, however they want. Am I not

00:37:54.560 human? Is this blood that is pumping through my body? Not the same blood pumping

00:37:58.780 through yours. Right. Exactly. Like it just, it doesn't make any sense. And then it's

00:38:02.500 just like, I feel like too, cause I would never go out of my way to leave an insane

00:38:06.660 hate comment. Like I would never in my life do that. Like, why are you calling me a

00:38:12.600 gorilla? It's not making sense. It's not making sense. Truly. Like what's the thought

00:38:18.460 process? Like I, and it's truly like, I know the feeling you're talking about, which is

00:38:22.140 like, I can't even relate to that level of loser. I can't relate. I never in my life 0.70

00:38:27.360 have I had that desire. Exactly. I mean, I've never thought mean things. No, but I've never

00:38:33.220 keep it to yourself. Right. Bring back secrets. Hello. Thoughts. And critical

00:38:39.100 thinking. Please. Like it is just getting to the point too, where it's also just

00:38:44.400 like, you have millions of followers. Like there's only so much that you can like

00:38:47.020 control. But one thing about me, I will not post for two weeks. Like I will take a

00:38:51.860 month off. Right. Because I don't care. And this isn't what you signed up for. Like

00:38:56.680 it's like they, when it gets twisted and warped into something it's not supposed to

00:39:00.480 be or wasn't the intention of your content in the first place. It's like, what are

00:39:04.100 we doing? Exactly. I'm not, I'm not here for this earth to perform. Girl, if I don't

00:39:09.860 want to be on the internet for three weeks, I will not be on the internet for three

00:39:11.940 weeks. Everyone's always like, Oh, like I haven't seen you on, you know, the FYP

00:39:15.780 page in such a long time. And I'm like, yeah, cause I don't, I don't want to be

00:39:19.100 on it. Like, you know what I wanted to do? I wanted to go on a walk for three weeks

00:39:22.860 and mind my business. And I do that. And I think that's honestly like creators could

00:39:25.800 honestly do a lot more of that is like, you don't have to explain why you want to

00:39:28.840 take a break. Just get off the internet. If you want to get off the internet.

00:39:31.380 Absolutely. And stick to it too. It's like, it's imperative. And I feel like with you

00:39:36.020 doing that, I think that's a beautiful thing, especially since you had the year

00:39:40.440 that you had last year, you're still prioritizing you. Yep. That's a beautiful

00:39:44.080 thing. You might think that's wonderful. Hold on to it forever. Keep doing that.

00:39:49.000 Thank you. And I'm so fucking happy that you came to hang out with us today. But before

00:39:53.880 we kind of sign off, I'd love to know if you have any advice for any girls who are

00:39:59.100 looking into the beauty space or maybe don't feel represented like we talked about and feel

00:40:03.980 discouraged trying to find new things. Do you have any advice for them?

00:40:07.920 Honestly, I feel like my number one piece of advice is talk your shit. Like at the end of 0.99

00:40:12.520 the day, like these are your lived in experiences and it's not for anybody else to police. Right.

00:40:17.140 And once you have like solidified that your validation is validation that you

00:40:21.380 validify in yourself, you're the one that says, oh, okay, this is true to me. This

00:40:26.840 happened to me. I'm feeling this way and I can feel this way. No one can tell you

00:40:31.940 anything. Like you need to continue to exist unapologetically for yourself. Talk your

00:40:37.000 shit. It's okay to like not always bow down to the status quo. 1.00

00:40:41.540 For real. Absolutely. Let's, let's shake it up a little bit.

00:40:45.540 Hey, what's the day I say? Shake it up. Please. Like, you know, so that's all I have for the

00:40:52.260 girls. Like exist unapologetically for your black ass selves. I love that period. Just 1.00

00:40:57.020 move. You know, it's okay to be an airhead too. I think sometimes, sometimes it's not 0.99

00:41:02.080 every day have a think piece. So be an airhead too. Whenever you want to sprinkle it in 0.98

00:41:06.480 there. Okay. We need that. I need a break. Yes. Let me be stupid for one second.

00:41:13.140 One day and allow yourself to make mistakes. Like influencers also too. Like, I think we 1.00

00:41:18.640 get held to like an insane standard sometimes. I agree. Yeah. But it's like a lot of these

00:41:22.900 influencers that are doing it, like content creators, like they really are 22. They really

00:41:26.120 are 23. They really are 21. They really are still in high school and college. Like you're

00:41:30.420 learning, you're going to make mistakes and give yourself the grace to do that. And if people

00:41:34.300 are not there to grow with you, well, well, well. Like, well, good luck finding someone

00:41:41.380 who fucking hasn't made a mistake. I mean, good luck with that. Yeah. Exactly. Wishing 0.99

00:41:45.200 you all the best on that journey. Yeah. And then my last advice question for you is, do

00:41:49.920 you have any advice for brands who you think like, if they would like to and should want

00:41:55.080 to do better? How can they do better? Get in that lab. That's where it starts. That's

00:42:03.200 where it should end. Get in that lab. Go speak to a non-white person. You know, like just for 1.00

00:42:09.020 one day, let's step out of our own shoe and go explore. Okay. And you know, once we really

00:42:18.880 sit down as a whole and say, I can do better, things change. Yeah. I can do better and be

00:42:27.500 willing to do better. I think brands are just like really, you know, we live in a capitalist

00:42:32.280 society. Right. I know what you mean. You want to make your money. I get it. You want

00:42:36.100 to make your money. But at the end of the day, all I have to say is don't let me catch

00:42:41.160 you. Okay. And that's fine. Just don't let me get your product. Yes. That's it. And don't

00:42:47.580 send it to me either. I don't want it. Okay. Please. I love that. I fucking love

00:42:53.260 you. I love you too. I think you're amazing. You too, babe. And I really do want to give 0.99

00:42:57.120 you your flowers for being so incredible. And I, and I know too, um, that the internet

00:43:01.700 can be so perverse and fucking evil, especially to black women. So I think you are so essential 1.00

00:43:07.600 to the like integrity of the internet. I really mean that it's like people like you really are

00:43:12.240 what shift social media and like shift cultural impact. And I think it's imperative that

00:43:17.520 people like you have platforms. So I'm so glad that you do. Thank you. And you too.

00:43:20.660 And I hope you continue to eat the girls up one thing piece at a time. I will. I'll make 0.96

00:43:25.120 all the thing pieces for you, please. You know, and you know, these men need to mind your

00:43:32.940 business girl. Always say that. Let me know when they start, when they start, I'll be out

00:43:37.540 of a job. Then I can retire. Thank you. Yeah. They can retire me by doing that.

00:43:45.140 Come on. Well, thank you so much for coming on the show. I fucking love you. You're the best. Thank

00:43:49.820 you all so much for tuning in before we go though. Where can everybody find you?

00:43:53.440 On socials, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok. It's just at Gloria. It's just my name. Period.
