A new poll shows that even with Eric Swalwell out of the race, the top two candidates in the Democratic primary for governor are still very much in the Republican column. Is there any hope for the Democrats?

00:01:24.920 Now, here's the thing. Even with Swalwell as the frontrunner, the top two contenders in California are still Republicans.
00:01:32.480 And we've got big news. Swalwell is out. And the latest poll from Emerson shows it changed nothing.
00:01:42.120 OK, here's how it works. In California, they have an open primary for the governor. Everybody runs.
00:01:47.500 the top two candidates advanced to the runoff in November. The only problem for Democrats is
00:01:53.660 despite having the political majority, there's too many of them. So when you break down the polls,
00:02:00.060 there are two Republicans right now sitting at the top, first and second place, Steve Hilton
00:02:05.080 and Chad Bianco. Eric Swalwell was rivaling Bianco, and Democrats had been begging someone
00:02:13.060 to drop out of the governor's race so that their voters would split among all of the
00:02:18.660 other Democrat candidates, boosting their numbers and hopefully launching someone into
00:02:23.140 second place.
00:02:24.200 Thus, the race in November would be a Republican and a Democrat, and the Democrat would likely
00:02:30.260 win.
00:02:31.260 So here's the working theory.
00:02:33.600 Eric Swalwell was a darling in the Democratic Party.
00:02:36.880 He was ascendant, a member of the House, frequently on TV, probably was going to be governor
00:02:42.720 if the Republicans were out of the way, but they were not.
00:02:46.220 So he got stabbed in the back.
00:02:48.960 The theory goes that the people who released these stories and brought these men forward
00:02:53.260 were not Republicans, but in fact, Democrats, because they needed to get someone out of
00:02:57.620 the race, again, hoping it would boost any other Democrat at least a little bit.
00:03:03.600 With Eric Swalwell out of the race, in aggregate, with all polling, Tom Steyer is now in second
00:03:10.760 place behind Steve Hilton. And that means when it comes to November, if it's these two candidates,
00:03:16.160 well, Steyer's going to win. But there's a problem. Those polls included back when Eric
00:03:23.680 Swalwell was still running. So Emerson ran a new poll. We've got more information. And guess what?
00:03:30.900 Surprise, surprise. It's still two Republicans on top. So it's looking like no matter what the
00:03:37.360 Democrats are doing, they can't seem to get over that edge. I have to think it is because
00:03:43.300 Democrats have gone plum nuts. Now, over the past few weeks, there's been this big debate over
00:03:50.360 whether or not Hassan Piker should be welcome in the ranks of the Democratic Party. And many
00:03:55.000 Democrats have argued he's too extreme. He said crazy things. He's a California guy. And therein
00:04:00.780 lies the big problem. He does represent a large voting bloc for Democrats. But people in California,
00:04:08.100 even liberals, probably don't want to vote for those that are palling around the guy who said
00:04:11.880 that the U.S. deserved 9-11 and that the fall of the Soviet Union was the greatest catastrophe of
00:04:16.800 the 20th century, which just blows people's minds. But it's not just that. It's the alignment of the
00:04:23.380 Democratic Party. Tom Steyer recently called for arresting ICE agents, a dramatic escalation
00:04:29.080 from where Gavin Newsom is. And certainly there's a lot of people who probably would agree that ICE
00:04:34.480 agents should be arrested. I think that's kind of insane, by the way. But I think most people,
00:04:40.540 like middle of the row regular people, see someone like Steyer and think that's insane.
00:04:47.160 So when it comes time to poll, they find Swalwell's exit means very little. Now, to be fair,
00:04:54.560 I want to be reasonable. It's just one poll so far. But it is interesting that we haven't seen
00:05:00.120 that much of a change. Tom Steyer is now tied with Chad Bianco, but slightly behind. So I say
00:05:05.640 tied, but slightly behind, meaning at current, it's still going to be two Republicans who win
00:05:12.980 this election and move to a runoff. Come November, the great voters of California will get a choice
00:05:18.560 between Republican A and Republican B. Not that I think it'll change all that much for California.
00:05:24.020 because they are still a Democrat majority in the House, their state House, and their Senate.
00:05:30.220 It's going to be Democrats, but it will redirect some of that political energy.
00:05:36.140 Let's jump in to see exactly what is going on with the latest polling.
00:05:40.180 Even the New York Times saying Democrats are struggling to find a candidate.
00:05:43.800 Before we do, my friends, you got to buy coffee.
00:05:46.500 Everybody drinks coffee.
00:05:47.820 Is coffee not the greatest thing ever?
00:05:49.240 I think it's fantastic.
00:05:50.180 Go to Casper.com.

00:06:11.740 You want to support the show?
00:06:12.900 You want to drink coffee?
00:06:14.180 I'm going to say it like this, and I mean it sincerely.
00:06:18.220 Appalachian Nights is the best coffee I've ever had in my life.
00:06:21.080 Easy for me to say.
00:06:21.900 I formulated it.
00:06:22.740 But when we launched this, it wasn't intended to be our best-selling product.
00:06:26.980 It was an afterthought.
00:06:28.640 I blended a coffee that I thought was good.
00:06:31.840 We weren't promoting it as heavily, and it just took over and became our top seller.
00:06:36.460 So go to casprew.com.
00:06:38.300 Check it out.
00:06:38.780 But let's start here with the New York Times.
00:06:41.360 Actually, no, that's not fair.
00:06:42.320 Let's start here with this post from Emerson.
00:06:47.060 Steve Hilton, 17%, up four points.
00:06:50.980 Chad Bianco at 14 points, up three.
00:06:54.320 Tom Steyer jumping forward, four points.
00:06:57.960 Well, good for him.
00:06:59.540 He is still tied with Bianco, but it appears based on the, if you break it down and get granular, he is slightly behind.
00:07:08.720 Javier Becerra is jumping up as well as Katie Porter.
00:07:11.760 we can see, unfortunately for Democrats, with the exit of Swalwell, none of them jumped up
00:07:19.900 enough points to actually break into second place. Holy smokes, man. California may actually
00:07:28.100 still have a Republican governor. OK, I'm going to tell you this right now. I don't know which
00:07:34.800 I think Katie Porter is next on the chopping block. These people don't want to don't want to 1.00
00:07:39.640 drop out. They want to win. Eric Swalwell didn't want to drop out. Well, they knifed him in the
00:07:44.420 back with this story, right? OK, well, now that it's not enough to get a Democrat over the edge,
00:07:50.080 I have to imagine someone is going to be next. You know, interestingly, I've heard a lot of
00:07:55.740 great things about Matt Mahan, actually. I don't know a lot about him, but people have said he's
00:08:00.080 fairly moderate. I respect that. Katie Porter's got a sordid history. I wonder if they're going
00:08:04.620 to come out with stories and destroy her next. So she has to drop out. You knock out Katie Porter.
00:08:08.800 okay, okay, then you're going to get a Democrat in the top spot.
00:08:13.820 Here's the New York Times.
00:08:15.820 They say the California governor's race was supposed to give Democrats a chance
00:08:18.640 to elevate a new party leader in the nation's most symbolically significant liberal state.
00:08:24.140 Instead, the contest to succeed Gavin Newsom has played out more like a series of unfortunate events,
00:08:29.560 culminating with the demise of Rep. Eric Swalwell's campaign in a stew of sexual misconduct accusations.
00:08:35.720 Let's stop right there, New York Times.
00:08:38.140 Eric Swalwell wasn't accused of misconduct. He was accused of drugging and raping a woman while
00:08:44.800 choking her. Holy crap. Talk about knocking a guy out of the race. Are you entertained yet?
00:08:52.660 These people are are guys. I'm not a big fan of the Republican Party. I mean, I'm gonna say I
00:08:58.580 think they're do nothing boring suit wearing stooges most of the time. But Democrats, you know,
00:09:06.580 I'll give them this. They're infinitely more cool when they are drug abusing, leather jacket wearing
00:09:12.960 lunatics, as opposed to the stodgy suit wearing, boring Republicans. But I'd prefer the suit
00:09:19.960 wearing guy who's going to do the job over the drug addict rapist. I'm not saying Eric Swallow
00:09:24.700 is a drug addict. I'm just saying like they have been accused of these things. Other other
00:09:28.920 politicians. They say the state's most wide open race for governor in a generation had begun with
00:09:35.120 potential field clearing candidacy of Kamala Harris, the former vice president. She was 1.00
00:09:39.100 looking for her next step after losing the 2024 race. But she ultimately opted against the race
00:09:44.640 and instead is thinking about a third presidential bid, please. Oh, my God. Could you imagine if 0.56
00:09:51.000 Kamala runs again? She couldn't even get a single delegate in 2020. And she thinks she's going to 1.00
00:09:56.780 run in 2028. You know, that would be nuts. Some Democrats salivated the possibility of a run by 0.90
00:10:03.260 Senator Alex Padilla. I think we call him Jose. They say Jose Padilla. Got the wrong name. That
00:10:09.660 went viral. Do you remember that one? One of the nation's most prominent Latino leaders. He passed.
00:10:14.860 An early front runner, Katie Porter, a former congresswoman, went viral for the wrong reasons 1.00
00:10:18.320 with a new clip of a highlighted interview with a journalist and an old one of her berating an aide.
00:10:23.140 And two Democrats who ran for president with little traction in 2020 jumped in, 0.85
00:10:27.000 Tom Steyer, and Swalwell. Interesting. Then came the sexual misconduct accusations against Swalwell,
00:10:34.920 including from a former aide and another woman who detailed unwanted advances.
00:10:39.740 This has been a bombshell, said former Senator Barbara Boxer,
00:10:43.280 a longtime line of California liberalism who retired a decade ago. It is awful. It is awful.
00:10:48.160 Now Democratic voters in the state are left to sift through the remaining choices.
00:10:52.160 the filing deadline passed last month, who have mostly failed to capture either their attention
00:10:57.780 or imagination or both. Meanwhile, Steve Hilton hitting it out of the park. If you remove party,
00:11:03.840 he's number one. People like him. I have a problem with, you know, putting political party on
00:11:09.880 everything, to be honest. You take a look at this. If we just remove these tabs here, we have a list
00:11:16.020 of names. I actually think it would do this country a great service to bar political party
00:11:21.540 from the ballot. You get a paper ballot when you go in to vote. It lists names and nothing else.
00:11:27.700 No more down ballot party voting. No more. I don't know who they are to vote for someone based
00:11:32.140 on party. I think it's bad. There was this funny story out of New Hampshire. Transgender Satanist
00:11:39.220 anarchist won the Republican primary for sheriff because nobody else was running, I guess. And
00:11:47.020 these people just checked the box for Republican and then chose someone they otherwise would not
00:11:53.200 have wanted. That's their fault. I think we've got a sickness in our political machine that results
00:12:02.080 in stupid things like this. The best candidate with the best plan should be winning. But of
00:12:07.700 course, it's all about party politics, my friends. That's where we're at. Now, I would be remissed
00:12:13.500 if I did not provide for you as much data as possible. And so this is a favorite website,
00:12:18.820 top2ca.com. We're going to generate, based off of all the polls that we've seen so far,
00:12:24.980 who the top two candidates are going to be. And lo and behold, Tom Steyer is now in second place.
00:12:32.200 This is probability not polling. So the Emerson poll shows us that Tom Steyer is polling at 14%
00:12:38.360 just behind Chad Bianco. So when they ask people, who do you want to vote for? They say at 14%,
00:12:44.820 Tom Steyer. Now, top two takes all of these polls and then breaks them down, aggregates them and
00:12:51.460 shows you the probability. Tom Steyer is deemed to have a good probability to win. The only problem
00:12:57.100 is that these polls are old. This was polling done when Eric Swalwell was still around. And now
00:13:04.760 they've forcefully removed his name thus we are getting a probability generator based off of polls
00:13:09.580 that no longer exist with the presumption being you customize your coffee order your playlists
00:13:15.420 your gym routine and now with the td active trader platform you can customize your trading too
00:13:20.820 because no one trades quite like you live breathe trade td ready for you there's more to life than
00:13:29.840 Finding the perfect car.
00:13:31.860 But finding the perfect car can help you get the most out of life.
00:13:36.060 Like the SUV that handles everything from drop-off to off-road.
00:13:40.040 And the car that hauls groceries and hockey teams.
00:13:43.040 Or the van that's gone from just practical to practically family.

00:13:54.320 Canada's car marketplace.
00:13:55.800 just remove eric swalwell here's what you get well that doesn't work because swalwell votes
00:14:03.820 are going to break out among other party members or i should say among other politicians the point
00:14:09.460 being some swalwell voters might actually go for steve hilton the reason swalwell may be a liberal
00:14:17.880 diehard you know wackaloon but he's not a hassan piker type democrat he is not a fringe ultimate
00:14:25.420 far leftist. He's just kind of a lefty pro-Democrat say what he's got to say kind of guy,
00:14:30.320 meaning he may actually get some votes from moderates who would prefer a Steve Hilton or
00:14:35.920 a Chad Bianco over, say, a Katie Porter, in which case these probabilities aren't exact.
00:14:43.720 But to be fair, it's one poll so far. That's it. It's the latest. It's interesting. I don't know
00:14:52.900 if this will actually hold out in the end.
00:14:54.960 I would be surprised, actually,
00:14:56.540 if this stays the way it is.
00:14:59.180 I do think, more importantly,
00:15:01.260 it may actually remain like this for a while,
00:15:03.440 these polls with two Republicans on top.
00:15:05.700 But you know they're going to knock out
00:15:07.460 one of these other Democrats.
00:15:09.060 I mean, I got to be honest. 0.97
00:15:10.860 I think Katie Porter is not long for this campaign. 1.00
00:15:14.180 She got scandals already. 1.00
00:15:16.100 And there's a lot of people that don't like her.
00:15:18.360 There's a lot of people that may want to say goodbye
00:15:20.080 and just help Tom Steyer make it to that next bit.
00:15:25.260 The Hill reports that Swalwell's exit upends
00:15:27.640 the California's governor's race, according to a poll.
00:15:30.000 But as we can see, not that much has changed.
00:15:33.180 But it is fair to point out,
00:15:34.400 and again, I try to keep balanced on this one.
00:15:37.120 The odds of a Democratic lockout in California,
00:15:39.980 California's governor's race, have shrunk dramatically.
00:15:44.100 It is still good for Democrats that Eric Swalwell got to boot.
00:15:48.740 Now they've destroyed his life and his career.
00:15:50.680 Holy crap.
00:15:51.880 I suppose one could argue he did that to himself.
00:15:54.840 But wait, there's more.
00:15:57.280 NBC News.
00:15:58.840 Senator Ruben Gallego alleges Eric Swalwell lied and betrayed him.
00:16:03.880 Says he never saw inappropriate behavior.
00:16:06.940 Gallego chaired Swalwell's, was it his presidential run, something like that?
00:16:11.300 Right now, let me tell you about D.C. scuttlebutt behind the scenes.
00:16:15.300 They are saying that Ruben Gallego has a bunch of accusations himself.
00:16:19.700 Now, I don't know if that's true.
00:16:21.580 I'm just a D.C. guy, right?
00:16:23.380 We're essentially in the D.C. metro, kind of.
00:16:28.080 You know, I'll put it like this.
00:16:29.220 When I grew up in Chicago, you drive an hour west, you're in the Chicago suburbs.
00:16:33.960 Now we're an hour west of D.C. and people are like, well, you're not really in D.C.
00:16:38.340 Okay, okay, well, I'm close enough.
00:16:40.380 And we got friends.
00:16:42.060 We got friends in the Beltway who are saying
00:16:43.600 Gallego is going to get in trouble next.
00:16:46.340 There's no way he did not know about what was going on.
00:16:50.200 So my friends, I throw it to you this way.
00:16:52.920 Now, Gallego's not in this race, but Tom Steyer, second place.
00:16:57.100 Do you believe this man can make it to California governor?
00:17:01.820 I'm going to go ahead and say no.
00:17:04.560 And it's because of this Twitter article that he put out.
00:17:08.320 And I want to get the date on this one because I'm like,
00:17:10.460 This guy's running for California governor, and he put this out a day, two days ago, how
00:17:16.320 California can put ice in jail.
00:17:19.080 This, my friends, is what we call a Hail Mary.
00:17:22.840 This is a desperate long shot.
00:17:27.420 Tom Steyer says, you know what?
00:17:29.600 I'm doubling down on the furthest left I can go.
00:17:33.760 Have you ever stopped, Tom, to consider why it is that the two top contenders are Republicans who would never say something like this?
00:17:44.520 All right. All right. You may have seen it.
00:17:46.760 Here's the story from from Newsweek.
00:17:50.020 ICE agents face prison under new proposal.
00:17:54.760 Democratic California gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer has unveiled an immigration platform that includes proposals to bolster the state's ability to prosecute and potentially imprison ICE agents.
00:18:05.940 In a policy outline published on Substack on Tuesday, Steyer said California should fight fire with fire and take on ICE the same way we took on the mob.
00:18:13.880 Well, let's just read what he said.
00:18:15.580 He says, I've made it clear.
00:18:17.960 ICE must be abolished.
00:18:20.080 ICE is acting like a criminal organization carrying out indiscriminate racial profiling
00:18:23.980 and using violence, intimidation, terror, and the murder of Americans to extend Trump's rule by fear.
00:18:30.820 I'm just going to pause real quick and say, I live in the real world.
00:18:37.500 They call me a milquetoast fence sitter.
00:18:41.560 They say, pick a side, Tim.
00:18:43.400 The truth is my side.
00:18:45.040 I think Trump has done some pretty good things.
00:18:47.200 I think he's got some great accomplishments.
00:18:48.660 I think he's done some pretty bad things. I think the Iran war is, on the surface, pretty risky. Now, if the underlining effects persist, meaning China's detriment, securing Cuba, all of these things, it is ultimately good for the United States. But as it stands right now, we've got high prices and confusion.
00:19:07.200 So I will just say this. It's hard to know exactly, but I'm not going to sit here and scream Trump is Hitler and that we should abolish law enforcement agents. I'm a reformer, not a revolutionary. Now, Tom Steyer is making a big bet on the far left. And I am begging, I am begging Democrats to stop.
00:19:27.100 We had Mark Moran on the show the other day.
00:19:29.600 He was running as a Democrat, moderate guy, willing to engage with us.
00:19:34.680 I actually agree with him on some of his policies, disagree with him on others.
00:19:38.700 And I said, I wish the Democratic Party was doing this because then we can have a discussion on our differences.
00:19:45.580 Instead, they're doing this.
00:19:47.700 Bro, you come to me and say, Tim, ICE is going a little too far.
00:19:52.720 OK, now you can say what you want to say about Freddie and Renee and talk about how those shootings were bad.
00:19:59.700 And for that, you want to pull back a little bit. And you know what? I can respect that argument.
00:20:06.060 People should not have died in these ICE operations the way they did.
00:20:10.160 Now, we've got problems of riots, protests, culture war stuff. I hear you. And I want that to go away.
00:20:17.460 I'd love to go back to the good old days. You know, I'm going to say this.
00:20:21.680 maybe people don't want to hear it. But when I was younger, I was so upset because people only
00:20:25.640 cared about sports. They wouldn't pay attention to politics. And I just didn't get it. Bad things
00:20:30.260 were happening. Why won't you stand up and help make things better? Oh, boy, do I regret that?
00:20:35.920 Why did I ever send that out into the ether? Let's pull it all back. Guys, please go watch
00:20:40.560 football. And political content apparently is declining. So I suppose I can't complain.
00:20:48.300 You know, I will feel the effects of it the same way.
00:20:50.640 But I do think when only the people who truly care are engaged and the people who truly
00:20:56.820 don't care are not engaged, things are probably better.
00:21:00.000 I don't know for sure.
00:21:01.560 What I can say right now is a lot of people who have no idea what's going on are getting
00:21:05.960 involved, going in the streets, and they're causing problems.
00:21:08.460 So anyway, let me bring it back to the main point.
00:21:10.620 If you come to me and say, Tim, listen, I understand we should enforce immigration law.
00:21:15.560 two people died, we should pull back a little bit, reassess. I'll say, well, that's reasonable. 1.00
00:21:21.540 It is reasonable. I mean, two Americans that were protesting died, and we can make arguments about
00:21:25.380 how they played out and whether the shoot was justified or not. But it's fair to say we don't
00:21:29.780 want Americans dying. We don't want dudes in armor going around in vehicles. We don't want
00:21:33.900 overly aggressive tactics, but we do want our laws to be enforced. The problem? This is the
00:21:40.760 opposite of that. How can I, as a moderate, ever support a Democrat when they do things like this?
00:21:48.060 He says it's not enough for Democrats to simply engage in rhetoric and stand against ICE or Trump.
00:21:52.420 California must build a system that fights fire with fire to stop the authoritarian takeover.
00:21:56.880 We must counter ICE head on and go after both their agents on the streets and their leadership
00:22:01.800 within the Department of Homeland Security. How do we do this? The same way we took on the mob,
00:22:07.040 put ICE agents and their leadership in jail for their crimes? Because that's how you take on a
00:22:13.820 violent extremist group and win. Okay. Well, I consider y'all to be violent extremist group.
00:22:19.840 You're threatening state-sanctioned violence against federal law enforcement agents for
00:22:23.580 literally doing their jobs. Then, okay, you should be in jail too, I guess? Is that really
00:22:29.500 the direction we want to go? Man, I don't want to play that game. I really don't. As governor,
00:22:34.860 I will do the following five things. First, I will go after ICE's modus operandi. I will give
00:22:39.940 the state attorney general the authority to hold ICE's leadership accountable for violence.
00:22:43.480 I will appoint and fund a special investigative unit and work with the attorney general.
00:22:48.340 Fourth, I will bring those detained and kidnapped by ICE back home by creating a much larger and
00:22:53.680 stronger immigration legal defense infrastructure in our state. I just want to point out that a
00:22:59.480 bunch of these guys are pedophiles. What are you doing? I just, guys, listen, I'm not a staunch
00:23:06.280 conservative. Look at my clothes. Who am I but some former liberal who complains on the internet?
00:23:13.880 You give me a moderate Democrat and I will be happy to host those debates and I'd consider
00:23:18.840 voting for him. Fetterman, I actually really like Fetterman. I don't like his voting pattern.
00:23:23.820 You do like the rhetoric, but, you know, rhetoric only goes so far.
00:23:27.940 I think I think Vetterman's been fantastic and I'm actually pretty impressed.
00:23:31.500 Lord, help us. 1.00
00:23:32.300 Can we get rid of these wackaloons who are saying they want to defend people like Abrego 1.00
00:23:36.680 Garcia, who's accused of like beating his wife or whatever and human trafficking? 0.99
00:23:42.020 Guys, if you want to defend a dude who worked, who was a fry cook, who flipped burgers and
00:23:46.840 got deported, you will win favor among people.
00:23:49.800 If the Democrats came out and said, yeah, yeah, deport the bad guy.
00:23:53.640 Then what's the argument?
00:23:55.100 This guy is a fry cook.
00:23:56.640 He's been here for three years. 1.00
00:23:57.780 He came here illegally.
00:23:59.340 Then the response is, okay, well, we have to have deportation.
00:24:04.160 We have to have our laws enforced.
00:24:06.960 But if you wanted to argue for amnesty to a certain degree, you don't get it when you defend rapists, murderers, drug traffickers, human traffickers, pedophiles, etc.
00:24:17.960 Now, I'm not going to advocate for amnesty.
00:24:19.600 You know why?
00:24:20.100 We've done it too many times.
00:24:21.500 And every time we do, they come back 10 years later and say, can we do amnesty again?
00:24:25.320 At a certain point, we have to say, stop, just stop.
00:24:28.280 OK, we can't keep just saying come in here illegally and 10 years later, we'll rubber
00:24:32.400 stamp you. 1.00
00:24:33.920 That being said, I think it's a fair point.
00:24:36.900 If Tom Steyer came out and said, I respect Trump and ICE for going after cartel members,
00:24:43.660 traffickers, criminals, they're bad guys.
00:24:46.500 I don't respect the storming of a restaurant to arrest a guy who's flipping burgers, causing panic.
00:24:53.140 Then my argument would be, well, it's hard to argue.
00:24:56.540 I mean, to be honest, I argue that Donald Trump's ICE enforcement should have been dudes in khakis and polo shirts calmly walking in to the guy and saying, sir, you're going to come with us.
00:25:06.920 Now, in the event that the only infraction is illegal entry, I believe that should be the way it is.
00:25:13.700 But it is true. We have seen attempts at enforcement that have been heavy handed.
00:25:18.280 I am not saying I disagree with ICE going after these criminals when they go after the worst of the worst, the rapists.
00:25:24.780 You better believe they're going to have armor and guns and they're going to go in there and do the job like cops.
00:25:28.840 And I respect that. And I encourage more of that when they're truly the worst of bad guys.
00:25:34.340 But I'm done with this argument. If you came here illegally, the law needs to be enforced. 0.63
00:25:39.240 We are a nation. We have laws. This is insanity and doesn't win the argument with anyone. But you get it, right? You get it. Tom Steyer is taking the extreme end, desperate to bump his numbers, even the slightest. I'm sure his consultant said, look, you're not really going to lose moderate voters if you go this route. 1.00
00:25:58.360 Well, I would argue he'll probably lose enough.
00:26:00.800 People like me, this is why I stay away from Democrats.
00:26:03.720 They're psychotic.
00:26:04.440 This is insane.
00:26:05.940 Again, bring me a Democrat.
00:26:08.180 Bring me Joe Rogan.
00:26:09.480 What did Joe Rogan say?
00:26:11.080 Yeah, some of this stuff is going too far.
00:26:12.740 I hear you, bro.
00:26:13.580 I hear you.
00:26:15.220 But instead, what do we get?
00:26:16.960 This.
00:26:18.100 And then, of course, we get this.
00:26:21.800 Oh, boy. 0.83
00:26:22.500 The USSR.
00:26:24.280 The fall of the USSR.
00:26:27.700 was one of the greatest catastrophes of the 20th century.
00:26:31.380 It was not.
00:26:34.540 Just wait. Listen, maybe you'll agree.
00:26:37.960 No, I won't.
00:26:38.940 Not only was there incalculable harm done to every single country under its banner.
00:26:45.380 Child prostitution.
00:26:49.340 Skyrocketing suicide rates.
00:26:50.920 Life expectancy plummeting.
00:26:52.440 but america was no longer contested around the globe and it is precisely because of the end
00:27:02.960 to that multi-polarity that we saw accelerated neoliberalism that is devastating every western
00:27:12.220 nation right now unlimited and unchecked greed make it stop make it stop please oh the free
00:27:21.340 Press writes, actually, Hassan Piker is the Democrats enemy. I love it. Democrats should
00:27:27.540 go on his show and stand up for democratic values. Homeboy not only said not only defended
00:27:33.120 the Soviet Union, to be fair, to be fair, he said it's collapsed as a catastrophe because of the
00:27:38.380 after effects, which I will explain a second that he is completely wrong about. I would love I would
00:27:45.740 love Michael Malice. Where are you? Michael Malice, who is born in the Soviet Union, who now lives in
00:27:51.000 this country, maybe he could explain to Hassan why it's good there's no more Soviet Union. But
00:27:54.820 I digress. Look at this. Democrats have a Hassan Piker problem. They seem not to know what to do
00:28:00.200 with their uber lefty streamer influencer with millions of followers. To engage or not to engage,
00:28:04.620 to campaign, or to pretend it doesn't exist, that's the question. In recent days, Piker has
00:28:09.060 doubled down on his claims that Israel is worse than Hamas and declared the collapse of the Soviet
00:28:14.300 Union was one of the greatest catastrophes of the 20th century. Last month, he took part in a
00:28:17.740 propaganda mission to Cuba in November, he was in China promoting all the Chinese Communist
00:28:22.760 Party's good works. Lord have mercy. They're going to say, and yet Piker is being defended
00:28:29.580 by some of the most prominent voices on the American left, including most recently Ezra Klein,
00:28:35.480 who has penned a column originally headlined, Hassan Piker is not the enemy. I believe they,
00:28:42.740 they did they change the headline there? Because I think The New York Times changed it. It was
00:28:48.620 originally Hassan Piker is not the enemy to this is why there's no liberal Joe Rogan.
00:28:54.200 Let's talk about the Soviet Union and why it's good that it collapsed. First, outside of any 0.67
00:29:00.180 individual nation, two powers, a multipolar world, nuclear armed and on the verge of blowing each
00:29:07.140 other up and wiping out the planet. That's bad. Now, generally speaking, unipolarity is better
00:29:16.540 as we don't have to fear nuclear annihilation at any moment. So the collapse of the Soviet Union
00:29:22.500 for us, the United States, it was great. And it meant the threat of nuclear war had abated
00:29:27.840 for the most part. However, what he goes on to say is that, yes, but afterwards people were
00:29:33.420 committing suicide, and there was child prostitution. Indeed. I can certainly say that
00:29:37.880 the Soviet satellites are doing way better. They have democratic institutions. They're very happy.
00:29:42.360 They're prosperous. Life is better. During this Cold War, there were proxy wars. Tens of millions
00:29:49.380 being massacred and slaughtered. So yeah, it was good. The Soviet Union, who's responsible for,
00:29:55.000 what did they earn? Something like 30 million dead? Probably a good thing. How about the
00:29:59.720 Holodomor. How about when they intentionally seized the food from Ukrainians and starved 1.00
00:30:04.800 them to death because they said that the Russians are more important genetic people
00:30:09.140 than the Ukrainians? And Ukraine means borderland. This is what the Democratic Party has to offer
00:30:14.960 right now. Now, to be fair, to be fair, the Democrats have been pushing back. They have
00:30:20.860 been saying they don't want to campaign with this guy. And I am all about it. Now, I've defended
00:30:26.060 Hassan Piker in the past. I'll tell you why. You got these anti-Trump grifters. Literally all they
00:30:31.540 can say is that Trump is bad. It's mind numbing. Like Trump is bad sometimes. Sure. But not
00:30:37.300 literally on everything. Democrats tend to be fairly bad like what we're seeing. Tom Steyer,
00:30:42.400 the front runner in California. We're going to put ice in jail. Oh, shut up. Now, to be fair,
00:30:46.980 the Democrats that have come out against Hassan Piker, I respect. But what I say about Hassan
00:30:50.420 is that if you watch his show, and I do sometimes peek in on what he's talking about, I'd like to
00:30:54.740 know what people think. You take a look at his YouTube channel, you can see he talks about a
00:30:58.120 variety of subjects. The dude has opinions on issues. I disagree with those opinions. I think
00:31:03.160 he's very wrong. But I can respect that he's actually talking about things, unlike a lot of
00:31:07.800 these people who aren't talking about anything. They just hate Trump, or at least they think
00:31:11.060 hating Trump will get them clicks. The Democratic Party is insane and has been for some time.
00:31:17.580 But I assure you, I assure you, hear me, Democrats, if y'all were capable, just capable
00:31:24.220 of coming back to the regular Earth, to good old planet Earth, you'd get your votes back.
00:31:31.720 Now, I'll tell you this. Dave Smith made a great point. The current Democratic Party has shown
00:31:36.760 itself to be unworthy of our votes. I'm paraphrasing. He says, I'm not going to go
00:31:40.920 vote Democrat and give them the White House or anything like that. Fair point. He said he 0.99
00:31:46.220 wouldn't vote for either party. The Republicans largely do nothing. That's why I don't feel any
00:31:51.380 concern when I vote Republican. Maybe you might get some good things. Now, are they going to pass
00:31:56.940 the SAVE Act? No. Are they going to pass anything meaningful that people want to see happen? No.
00:32:03.280 Are they arresting anybody? No. Is Trump getting revenge? No. None of that stuff is happening.
00:32:10.300 So when you vote Republican, what do you get? Moderate policy. When you look at the Democrats,
00:32:15.040 they go nuts. You want to put ICE in prison. That's the key. I'm not interested. You want
00:32:20.780 to trans the kids and do all that stuff. Not interested. But if you had Democrats that were 1.00
00:32:27.080 just normal. I like Mark Moran. He was a good guy. We disagree on a lot of things. We agree on a lot
00:32:33.920 of other things. I'm like, great. Have people look at Bill Maher. Lord, Lord, help me. If Bill
00:32:40.000 Maher was running the Democratic Party, I'd probably vote Democrat. I'm a moderate. So I
00:32:46.400 can say this. If Bill Maher's worldview was like, was the center of what the Democratic Party
00:32:53.160 represented, they'd win everything. They would win everything. Joe Rogan would be telling his
00:32:59.660 audience, we're voting for these guys. Bill Maher does not like Donald Trump. That was always
00:33:05.220 allowed. When I sat down with Bill Maher and I said, I've heavily criticized you over the past
00:33:10.060 couple of years. And he chuckled and said, you're allowed to be wrong. And I laughed. That's the
00:33:14.220 way it should be. But Bill and I, we agree on a lot of things. Bill said that hate crimes are
00:33:20.020 a thought crime policy. He pushed back on Seth Green when they're talking about why Trump is the
00:33:26.280 thought police guy. And Bill Maher's like, no, I mean, the Democrats made this liberal doctrine.
00:33:30.500 I don't agree with it. That's what I'm talking about. I've actually told Bill this. He had a
00:33:36.120 video. I can't remember what it was. It went super viral a few months ago where it was ragging the
00:33:40.380 Democratic Party for exactly what I'm saying now. And I and I hit him up. I was like, bro,
00:33:45.460 I wish you if you were in charge, they'd be winning every election. You would have a split
00:33:51.080 between Trump supporters and everybody else. And the moderates would be saying, I respect what the
00:33:57.120 Democrats are saying. I respect what Trump is saying. Who makes the most sense? Trump's a
00:34:02.560 culture warrior for this. There are pros and there are cons. The Democrats are insane culture
00:34:08.580 warriors. What they offer up is substantially more extreme than anything Trump offers up.
00:34:14.480 Abortion to the point of birth and insane. And thus, the middle of the road people are going
00:34:20.940 Republican. Now, come this midterm, we'll see. I think the truth is most people are demoralized.
00:34:27.200 I think moderates are checked out. I think right now we're in a political desert. People are
00:34:32.240 basically burned out. We need some real victories. If Trump doesn't turn things around, it's bad,
00:34:37.900 bad news come the midterms. I don't know who's doing Trump's PR, but they're not doing a good
00:34:44.560 job of it. Democrats are sitting back and just taking the victories. In the meantime, however,
00:34:48.960 my friends, I will stress, so long as they're going to be wackaloons, I guess they'll lose 1.00
00:34:52.160 California either way. I long for a return to normalcy, for a unified culture where we can all 1.00
00:34:59.260 gather on the water cooler and talk about watching Game of Thrones again. Remember that? Those were
00:35:02.900 the days. It's just gotten so insane in the past 10 years. My brain is cooked. It's just so stupid
00:35:11.680 every which direction. I cannot stand it. I'm going to say it straight up. The lefty anti-ice
00:35:18.200 stuff is just psychobabble nonsense. The Israel derangement syndrome, psychobabble nonsense.
00:35:23.300 The Erica Kirk psychobabble. I'm looking at everybody like, are you guys insane?
00:35:28.700 Bro, I just want gas to be cheap. I want to be able to go out for chicken wings. The family,
00:35:32.900 and then have some entertainment.
00:35:34.680 That was always the goal.
00:35:35.620 We just want to do it properly.
00:35:37.340 But I tell you, everybody's gone nuts.
00:35:40.880 Here we go.
00:35:42.320 Hey, thanks for hanging out, everybody.
00:35:43.760 It's been fun.
00:35:45.180 Make sure you smash that like button, share the show.
00:35:47.320 Follow me on X on Instagram at TimCast.
00:35:48.960 We're coming back tonight at 8 p.m.
00:35:50.240 for more in the political space.
00:35:52.300 I know it could be demoralizing,
00:35:54.120 but I don't know.
00:35:57.360 That's it.
00:35:58.300 Maybe that's it.
00:35:59.140 Maybe we're just demoralized
00:36:00.360 and ready to do something else.
00:36:02.340 We'll see.
00:36:02.900 Thanks for hanging out, stick around, and we'll see you all tonight.
