00:00:00.000 The Blaze Radio Network, on demand.
00:00:08.180 Love. Courage. Truth. Glenn Beck.
00:00:14.480 You know, normally I begin the program and I'm like, hey, things suck today.
00:00:21.300 I want to try something new. I want to try something different.
00:00:25.420 Things don't suck as much as we all think.
00:00:28.300 And if we're going to make it, we have to start looking at the things that are true.
00:00:35.280 That things aren't as bad as we think in all categories.
00:00:40.480 For instance, during the 1960s, it was predicted that hundreds of millions, perhaps billions of people would soon die of hunger.
00:00:49.700 In a report from 2015, global malnutrition has declined now to the lowest level in history.
00:00:59.400 Nearly all malnutrition that persists is caused by distribution failures or by government corruption, not by lack of supply.
00:01:07.820 Hunger may be eliminated in our lifetime.
00:01:13.580 Resources.
00:01:14.620 They said they would all be exhausted by, in the 1970s, I remember, well, there'd be no oil.
00:01:20.880 There'd be no natural gas.
00:01:22.560 There'd be nothing, no coal.
00:01:24.260 You'll use it all up.
00:01:27.420 Petroleum and natural gas.
00:01:29.060 It was what was supposed to be gone by the year 2000.
00:01:32.520 We were going to be a society desperate for fuel.
00:01:38.160 That's not true.
00:01:40.080 They are still abundant.
00:01:42.820 Resources have not been depleted.
00:01:45.440 There are also no runaway plagues.
00:01:48.320 Unstoppable outbreaks of super viruses and mutations were said to menace a growing world.
00:01:55.640 Instead, now listen to this, nearly all disease rates are in decline, including the rates of cancer.
00:02:03.860 I don't know.
00:02:04.520 There's something going on.
00:02:06.320 There's cancer is getting so bad.
00:02:08.480 Everything's causing cancer.
00:02:10.300 It's all in decline.
00:02:12.420 In 2000, the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported that infectious diseases have declined so much that obesity is killing far more Americans than germs.
00:02:25.920 Death rates from infectious disease have fallen in nearly all nations, including the poorest.
00:02:32.420 In almost all nations, the human family is now living longer while suffering fewer heart attacks and strokes, even in the poorest of countries in the world.
00:02:42.420 There is no sign that longevity increases have peaked.
00:02:47.280 The Western nations are also not choking on pollution.
00:02:50.740 You remember?
00:02:51.560 Why are you going to be able to see acid rain?
00:02:57.980 A generation ago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, San Diego were becoming uninhabitable because of smog.
00:03:06.320 While air pollution in many areas of the United States and Europe did widespread respiratory damage.
00:03:12.480 That's not the case.
00:03:13.920 Today, Los Angeles, in Los Angeles, the air quality now has improved so much that the L.A. basin goes years between serious air quality alerts.
00:03:23.740 While in 2014, San Diego had its lowest smog level since record keeping began nationally since 1990, winter smog is down 77 percent summer smog down 22 percent.
00:03:41.080 By the way, this is all achieved while our population was growing.
00:03:45.020 As recently as the 1980s, acid rain was expected to destroy the forest in the eastern United States and central Europe.
00:03:52.780 Since 1990, sulfur dioxide, the main cause of acid rain, has decreased by 81 percent in the United States alone and sharply down in Europe.
00:04:03.360 The Appalachian forests in the United States and the black forests in Germany are in the best condition they have been in since the 18th century.
00:04:11.360 For those who don't know how the century works, that's before our country was founded.
00:04:19.100 Water pollution.
00:04:21.640 Water pollution.
00:04:23.300 In most developing nations, the trend lines are toward less air and water pollution.
00:04:28.600 Even as more people are alive, engaging in more economic activity.
00:04:34.760 The economy is driving everyone nuts.
00:04:38.860 But can we take a moment and just see how resilient this economy has been?
00:04:48.340 Yes.
00:04:50.020 It's been turbulent.
00:04:51.860 And I've been vomiting in an air sickness bag for a while.
00:04:55.160 But there hasn't been the global crash that we expected.
00:05:00.520 May it come?
00:05:02.220 Yes, it might.
00:05:05.380 But we haven't had a major global crash since the Great Depression 80 years ago.
00:05:12.440 Living standards keep rising for almost everyone, especially for those to whom the trend is most important, and that is the poor.
00:05:21.500 Goods and services are now in ample supply, and in almost every year, global per capita GDP sets a record.
00:05:31.200 Middle-class income growth is soft throughout the Western nations.
00:05:35.460 But middle-class buying power, which matters more than pre-tax income, continues to rise.
00:05:42.300 Yes, there is a shrinking middle class.
00:05:46.960 But in the United States of America, the number one reason is because the middle is shrinking because large numbers of people are moving up and not down.
00:05:59.560 The global economy, in one respect, we can't observe it in the United States or in the European Union, the developing world, indigence, is rapidly beginning to be reduced.
00:06:16.280 In 1990, 37% of humanity lived in what the World Bank defines as extreme poverty.
00:06:23.540 Today, that number, down from 37% to 10%.
00:06:30.200 Now, that may not make us feel good in, you know, the American upper Midwest or the northern part of England who has lost manufacturing jobs.
00:06:42.360 But the same forces that caused a relatively small share in the United States and United Kingdom to experience economic distress
00:06:49.500 also caused a gigantic reduction of suffering in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
00:06:56.100 The decline of developing world poverty should be viewed as the focal story of the last quarter century.
00:07:05.960 Because we're not observing it ourselves, it's gone unnoticed.
00:07:12.240 Crime and war, it seems to be everywhere.
00:07:16.860 Things are more dangerous.
00:07:18.320 The world is at war.
00:07:20.540 A generation ago, as murder rates rose,
00:07:25.080 and the superpowers were stocking our arsenals.
00:07:28.760 And the horrific future of acid rain,
00:07:35.080 smog-filled cities,
00:07:37.320 Philip K. Dick kind of cities from Blade Runner,
00:07:41.260 violence-ravaged cities,
00:07:43.360 and constant warfare seemed like is where we were headed.
00:07:48.080 But since 1990, crime rates have declined sharply in the United States.
00:07:53.220 And many other nations.
00:07:56.400 In fact, Central Park after dark
00:08:00.220 is now as safe as Yellowstone Park at noon.
00:08:06.840 Let me say that again.
00:08:09.700 Central Park, New York City, after dark
00:08:13.540 is now as safe as Yellowstone Park at noon.
00:08:18.900 The crime decline has led to an urban revival that benefits almost everyone,
00:08:26.480 including and maybe especially African Americans,
00:08:29.720 who are today much less likely to be homicide victims than a generation ago,
00:08:34.780 and also less likely, despite horrific exceptions to this rule,
00:08:39.080 to be harmed by police than in decades past.
00:08:42.540 Wait, what?
00:08:44.940 Would you like me to read that again?
00:08:46.180 Yeah, read that one again.
00:08:47.060 Today, African Americans are much less likely to be homicide victims than a generation ago,
00:08:53.020 and also less likely, despite the horrific exceptions,
00:08:57.840 to be harmed by police than in decades past.
00:09:01.500 Since 1990, the frequency of combat has gone down worldwide,
00:09:10.880 while global per capita arms spending has entered a cycle of decline.
00:09:16.260 Rather than adding nuclear bombs,
00:09:18.800 the United States and Russia's Federation
00:09:20.680 has disassembled tens of thousands of these devices
00:09:24.260 and destroyed the parts in the presence of witnesses.
00:09:27.340 Since 1990, a person's chance of dying because of violence
00:09:32.440 has dropped to a point
00:09:34.800 where it is the lowest ever recorded in human history,
00:09:40.700 stretching back to the midst of prehistory.
00:09:46.740 That holds a pretty powerful punch,
00:09:51.780 considering that in our day today,
00:09:54.800 the wave of Islamic terror attacks in Europe,
00:09:58.220 the mass shootings in America,
00:10:00.700 it is the lowest since prehistory.
00:10:06.920 Other than in Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, and Syria.
00:10:11.160 In 2016, the last of the polls were out,
00:10:14.460 the chance of anyone in any nation dying by violence
00:10:17.660 was at a historic low.
00:10:20.040 Even under population pressure,
00:10:21.940 the world grows steadily safer.
00:10:25.600 Despite what we think,
00:10:27.560 dictators are not winning.
00:10:30.760 Some nations are relapsing,
00:10:33.400 for instance, Turkey and Russia,
00:10:35.440 and others are in disarray,
00:10:37.440 owing to what a democracy theorist Larry Diamond calls
00:10:41.820 predatory government,
00:10:44.140 Nigeria and Venezuela.
00:10:46.400 But during the current generation,
00:10:48.280 no nation has gone from freedom to dictatorship,
00:10:51.640 while the largest nation,
00:10:53.560 China has been dipping its toes into liberty.
00:10:58.200 The second largest, India, holds on.
00:11:01.280 Both of them are tenuous,
00:11:03.600 but they are holding on to free expression
00:11:05.860 and free elections.
00:11:10.080 Despite video games and short attention span,
00:11:15.040 ignorance has not flourished.
00:11:17.420 Now I am talking globally.
00:11:21.560 Education levels continue to rise.
00:11:24.580 While in the developing world,
00:11:26.060 schooling for girls has stopped being rare.
00:11:31.940 Technology has not run amok.
00:11:34.440 Cars, aircraft, medicine, and weapons
00:11:37.320 have actually grown less dangerous.
00:11:39.920 Tremendous attention has been paid
00:11:42.040 to the decline of factory jobs.
00:11:45.100 But scant attention has been paid
00:11:46.780 to the fact that more than 60% of Americans
00:11:49.680 now hold some form of white-collar employment.
00:11:54.800 White-collar work involves less stress,
00:11:57.300 less boredom,
00:11:58.460 and no back-breaking manual labor
00:12:00.660 or inhalation of factory fumes.
00:12:03.060 But while all the worrying,
00:12:08.960 is anyone telling you to be optimistic?
00:12:14.820 I am today.
00:12:18.200 We have our issues,
00:12:20.520 but we live at the greatest time
00:12:24.200 human beings have ever seen.
00:12:27.180 And because of advancing technology,
00:12:30.420 we are now talking about
00:12:32.860 the possibility of
00:12:34.660 eradicating
00:12:36.560 all disease
00:12:38.580 by 2030.
00:12:42.740 We are much closer to 2030
00:12:45.560 than we were 9-11.
00:12:49.860 All disease
00:12:51.940 could be gone by 2030.
00:12:56.560 We live in extraordinary times.
00:13:00.500 We have to stop
00:13:02.280 eating each other
00:13:04.880 because there's plenty of food
00:13:08.400 to go around now.
00:13:12.580 If we can
00:13:13.620 if we can just do that,
00:13:17.440 if we can stop eating each other,
00:13:19.220 if we can start
00:13:20.320 using reason,
00:13:21.920 fix reason firmly in her seat
00:13:23.780 and question with boldness
00:13:25.100 and listen to each other
00:13:27.000 and accept it,
00:13:29.900 yes,
00:13:30.240 there are bad guys
00:13:31.380 and there are people
00:13:32.180 here in our own country
00:13:33.140 that don't like
00:13:34.540 what we have
00:13:35.540 and there is a force
00:13:37.360 that is trying
00:13:38.340 to stop this globally
00:13:39.880 and we have to fight
00:13:41.700 and stand against it.
00:13:44.380 But the average person
00:13:46.120 is better off today
00:13:47.740 than anyone
00:13:48.640 has ever been
00:13:49.500 since the beginning
00:13:51.020 of recorded history
00:13:52.500 in almost every category.
00:13:57.600 Today,
00:13:58.780 start your day
00:14:00.220 saying,
00:14:00.940 you know what?
00:14:02.800 Things aren't as bad
00:14:04.380 as I
00:14:05.160 I somehow or another
00:14:07.440 for some reason
00:14:08.280 feel they are.
00:14:10.860 And maybe I only feel that way
00:14:13.200 because I'm listening
00:14:15.700 to people
00:14:16.720 who want
00:14:17.780 to feed me
00:14:18.880 fear.
00:14:19.720 By the way,
00:14:32.160 all of those stats
00:14:33.140 can be found
00:14:34.760 in the
00:14:35.540 in the prologue
00:14:37.420 of a new book
00:14:38.960 called
00:14:39.640 It's Better Than It Looks.
00:14:43.960 Who's it by?
00:14:45.780 Let me look, Stu.
00:14:46.880 Hang on.
00:14:48.040 Greg Easterbrook.
00:14:50.720 Amazing.
00:14:51.820 I mean,
00:14:52.100 that is
00:14:53.320 the most important story
00:14:55.680 that humanity can tell.
00:14:58.160 It's the greatest
00:14:59.140 human achievement
00:15:00.400 of all time.
00:15:01.600 And we just discussed it.
00:15:03.220 Not only have we missed it,
00:15:04.340 70% of people
00:15:05.460 think poverty
00:15:06.060 has gotten worse
00:15:06.980 in the last 20 years.
00:15:08.460 70% of people.
00:15:10.260 And that
00:15:11.400 through what you just described
00:15:13.360 which is
00:15:13.840 basically the best thing
00:15:14.980 that's ever happened
00:15:15.720 to humanity
00:15:16.460 when you talk about
00:15:17.920 just human improvement.
00:15:19.340 It's why
00:15:19.920 it's why
00:15:20.580 I've been saying
00:15:21.380 lately off the air
00:15:22.960 and I need to say it
00:15:23.740 more on the air.
00:15:24.580 We're throwing the baby
00:15:25.800 out with the bathwater.
00:15:27.060 We have problems
00:15:28.460 but there is a baby
00:15:29.940 in that bathwater
00:15:31.020 and it's a really
00:15:32.440 good baby.
00:15:34.580 All right.
00:15:35.920 Imagine taking a
00:15:37.040 test drive
00:15:37.660 for a new car
00:15:38.220 for a hundred day drive
00:15:39.360 or a pair of new shoes
00:15:40.600 having a hundred days
00:15:41.840 to walk around
00:15:42.680 to feel how comfortable
00:15:43.740 they are.
00:15:44.320 I think that would
00:15:45.480 change most men's minds
00:15:46.740 on what shoes to buy
00:15:47.720 but I'm not sure.
00:15:48.960 Is Lisa like this?
00:15:50.160 Does she buy shoes
00:15:50.920 because she really likes
00:15:51.700 the way they look
00:15:52.260 and she'll wear them
00:15:52.920 even though they just
00:15:53.780 kill her feet?
00:15:54.780 Not really.
00:15:56.100 You are so lucky.
00:15:57.340 Well, you've got
00:15:57.940 the purse thing going on.
00:15:58.980 I don't have that.
00:16:00.220 Anyway,

00:17:22.940 Beck
00:17:23.940 Mercury
00:17:24.840 Glenn Beck
00:17:30.980 So we're just talking
00:17:32.620 about
00:17:32.940 you know
00:17:33.800 I'm
00:17:34.360 I'm tired
00:17:37.520 of being
00:17:37.900 politically correct
00:17:38.860 and here's what
00:17:39.920 being politically correct
00:17:41.240 means today
00:17:42.140 that you have to be
00:17:43.020 angry
00:17:43.400 you have to hate
00:17:45.080 you have to be
00:17:46.520 against
00:17:47.920 one party
00:17:48.900 or the other
00:17:49.920 I'm against
00:17:50.900 both of them
00:17:51.560 I don't know about you
00:17:52.420 I'm against both of them
00:17:53.360 I don't like either of them
00:17:55.000 and whichever party
00:17:56.520 is doing the right thing
00:17:58.280 at the time
00:17:59.100 I'll support you
00:17:59.900 at that time
00:18:00.720 you don't get a blank
00:18:02.000 check from me
00:18:02.660 so I'm tired of it
00:18:04.860 and I'm tired of
00:18:06.520 living in this world
00:18:08.240 where I am
00:18:09.940 where I'm just
00:18:11.540 there's not a bright future
00:18:12.760 there is a bright future
00:18:14.560 we just have to choose it
00:18:16.520 you know
00:18:17.540 somebody just tweeted
00:18:18.720 can you read that tweet
00:18:19.460 Mark and Akron
00:18:20.620 great
00:18:22.020 all hunger and disease
00:18:23.060 gone by 2030
00:18:23.920 so we're nice
00:18:25.000 fat and healthy
00:18:25.860 for the singularity
00:18:26.760 when the AGI
00:18:27.420 kills and enslaves us all
00:18:28.720 I appreciate you
00:18:30.420 using AGI
00:18:31.260 yeah
00:18:31.700 not just AI
00:18:32.920 okay so
00:18:33.860 so here's the
00:18:34.860 here's the thing
00:18:35.660 people were afraid
00:18:39.300 of technology
00:18:40.480 just like we are now
00:18:41.760 now in this particular case
00:18:43.840 AI
00:18:44.780 you got one shot
00:18:46.100 you have one shot
00:18:47.520 once it goes
00:18:48.520 if we've screwed it up
00:18:50.160 it could
00:18:51.480 it could rule the world
00:18:53.560 did you hear what's
00:18:54.660 happening in China
00:18:55.420 we have to talk about
00:18:56.840 this today
00:18:57.360 the Chinese government
00:18:58.940 by 2020
00:18:59.800 is now using
00:19:01.280 information
00:19:02.420 and machine learning
00:19:04.260 and basic AI
00:19:05.700 to give you access
00:19:08.380 to things
00:19:09.120 so if you write
00:19:10.360 something on Facebook
00:19:11.400 that's a downer
00:19:12.400 or what the government
00:19:13.680 feels is a downer
00:19:14.840 you'll lose points
00:19:16.420 yeah
00:19:16.980 it's like a social
00:19:17.640 credit system
00:19:18.480 if you've seen that
00:19:19.140 episode of
00:19:20.060 Black Mirror
00:19:20.820 which was season
00:19:21.520 two or three
00:19:22.060 terrifying
00:19:22.720 where if you do
00:19:23.660 something wrong
00:19:24.140 if you have bad
00:19:24.580 interaction
00:19:25.040 if you post
00:19:25.700 something negative
00:19:26.460 if you're bashing
00:19:27.340 the government
00:19:27.880 if you've committed
00:19:29.080 a crime
00:19:29.720 like the one of the
00:19:30.420 examples they give
00:19:31.080 is if you play
00:19:31.940 video games a lot
00:19:33.020 they'll track that
00:19:34.300 and give you
00:19:35.520 negative credit
00:19:36.180 because you're lazy
00:19:36.940 you're not doing
00:19:37.520 anything productive
00:19:38.100 that's that's
00:19:38.980 literally in the
00:19:40.280 Chinese government
00:19:41.140 plan
00:19:41.580 and it's state
00:19:42.440 state policy
00:19:44.120 by 2020
00:19:45.020 right
00:19:45.760 and it is
00:19:46.500 so so here's what
00:19:47.300 it is
00:19:47.700 it means that
00:19:48.620 you're a Chinese
00:19:49.720 citizen
00:19:50.180 you play video
00:19:51.160 games
00:19:51.500 you can't go to
00:19:52.300 the best restaurants
00:19:53.060 you can't go to
00:19:53.860 the best hotels
00:19:55.140 you're gonna lose
00:19:56.380 access
00:19:57.120 and the worse you
00:19:58.980 are on their
00:19:59.480 social media scale
00:20:01.000 the less you can do
00:20:03.880 as a human being
00:20:04.660 the less value you
00:20:05.720 have as a human being
00:20:06.600 now that is one way
00:20:08.040 to go
00:20:08.520 that's one way to go
00:20:10.180 I believe that we
00:20:12.360 can make the choice
00:20:13.380 not to go there
00:20:14.620 and I'll give you
00:20:15.500 some reasons for the
00:20:16.260 optimism coming up
00:20:17.380 Glenn Beck
00:20:19.500 Mercury
00:20:20.640 you're listening to
00:20:26.920 the Glenn Beck
00:20:27.480 program
00:20:27.960 you know I'm
00:20:29.200 I'm finding more
00:20:30.680 reason for optimism
00:20:32.160 because of what is
00:20:33.840 being called the
00:20:35.100 the dark web
00:20:36.620 of of ideas
00:20:38.880 that there is a
00:20:40.340 group of people
00:20:41.320 that are now
00:20:42.760 starting to have
00:20:44.040 the conversations
00:20:44.940 that I have
00:20:46.260 you know been
00:20:48.060 urging and looking
00:20:49.200 for and
00:20:49.880 and and they're
00:20:51.840 happening and
00:20:52.860 they're happening
00:20:53.520 with the
00:20:54.220 the weirdest
00:20:55.460 combinations
00:20:57.280 there is
00:20:58.820 there's two
00:21:00.040 brothers one of
00:21:00.900 them is a
00:21:01.720 evolutionary
00:21:03.820 biologist
00:21:05.040 at
00:21:06.320 Evergreen
00:21:07.420 University and I
00:21:08.820 I grew up in
00:21:09.800 Seattle
00:21:10.160 Evergreen
00:21:10.880 you know
00:21:12.080 really makes
00:21:13.720 Berkeley
00:21:14.320 or Seattle
00:21:15.660 look like
00:21:16.400 Provo Utah
00:21:17.100 and to be
00:21:18.680 clear he was
00:21:19.680 a evolutionary
00:21:20.680 biologist
00:21:21.140 he was
00:21:22.060 at Evergreen
00:21:22.700 and the reason
00:21:23.380 why he left
00:21:24.020 insanity
00:21:25.780 yeah
00:21:26.560 he left
00:21:27.420 because he said
00:21:28.240 we're now
00:21:29.320 starting
00:21:29.760 progressivism is
00:21:30.740 starting to deny
00:21:31.500 science
00:21:32.500 that the left
00:21:34.040 has gone so
00:21:34.960 far that we're
00:21:35.800 now saying
00:21:36.900 that the X
00:21:38.420 and Y
00:21:38.760 chromosome
00:21:39.180 means nothing
00:21:40.380 and he's
00:21:41.960 he's like
00:21:42.760 look
00:21:43.080 I mean
00:21:43.660 it's just
00:21:44.520 not true
00:21:45.160 and so
00:21:46.820 there are
00:21:47.340 people now
00:21:48.400 that are
00:21:49.040 are afraid
00:21:50.160 that their
00:21:52.040 side on
00:21:52.880 both sides
00:21:53.600 are starting
00:21:54.560 to be
00:21:55.080 fascistic
00:21:55.860 or or
00:21:57.000 communistic
00:21:57.960 in its state
00:21:58.540 but but
00:21:59.240 denying
00:22:00.480 science
00:22:02.240 denying
00:22:02.940 facts
00:22:04.000 by saying
00:22:05.420 that we
00:22:05.960 you know
00:22:06.560 whatever it
00:22:07.420 is just
00:22:07.980 let's
00:22:09.300 fix reason
00:22:10.260 firmly in
00:22:10.940 her seat
00:22:11.400 and that's
00:22:12.180 starting to
00:22:12.820 happen
00:22:13.200 tonight we're
00:22:15.220 doing a
00:22:15.720 two-part
00:22:16.260 series part
00:22:16.860 two of
00:22:17.880 you know
00:22:18.540 the blame
00:22:18.980 game
00:22:19.380 and how
00:22:20.600 we've all
00:22:21.120 blamed
00:22:21.680 everything else
00:22:23.280 but we
00:22:24.260 haven't blamed
00:22:24.840 us
00:22:25.300 but somebody
00:22:26.460 has
00:22:27.140 as we
00:22:28.520 cry out
00:22:29.200 and say
00:22:29.520 something
00:22:30.280 has to
00:22:31.040 be done
00:22:31.620 something
00:22:33.540 is always
00:22:34.060 done
00:22:34.480 something
00:22:36.380 has to
00:22:37.140 be done
00:22:37.760 about
00:22:38.260 the banks
00:22:39.720 well they
00:22:40.380 stepped in
00:22:40.940 they did
00:22:41.300 something
00:22:41.700 something
00:22:43.060 has to
00:22:43.680 be done
00:22:44.080 about
00:22:44.360 terror
00:22:44.860 they
00:22:45.440 stepped
00:22:45.800 in
00:22:46.040 and they
00:22:46.280 did
00:22:46.480 something
00:22:46.920 as we're
00:22:47.860 now saying
00:22:48.320 something
00:22:48.660 has to
00:22:49.200 be done
00:22:49.560 about
00:22:49.800 guns
00:22:50.180 they are
00:22:50.840 going to
00:22:51.260 step in
00:22:51.700 and do
00:22:52.000 something
00:22:52.380 and they
00:22:53.440 do
00:22:53.780 one
00:22:54.340 thing
00:22:55.020 consistently
00:22:56.320 and that
00:22:58.220 is
00:22:58.680 say
00:23:00.380 you're
00:23:01.060 the
00:23:01.240 problem
00:23:01.660 people
00:23:03.880 are
00:23:04.400 the
00:23:04.580 problem
00:23:04.980 we
00:23:05.960 need
00:23:06.320 more
00:23:06.600 control
00:23:07.120 over
00:23:07.600 people
00:23:08.280 and
00:23:09.000 when I
00:23:09.320 show
00:23:09.660 you
00:23:09.860 tonight
00:23:10.300 how
00:23:11.640 the
00:23:11.920 bill
00:23:12.900 of
00:23:13.100 rights
00:23:13.420 is
00:23:13.740 violated
00:23:14.340 in
00:23:14.720 almost
00:23:15.300 a
00:23:15.640 daily
00:23:16.780 basis
00:23:17.500 all
00:23:18.940 ten
00:23:19.580 it's
00:23:21.420 common
00:23:21.840 place
00:23:22.220 to
00:23:22.420 violate
00:23:22.840 the
00:23:23.160 bill
00:23:23.360 of
00:23:23.520 rights
00:23:23.800 now
00:23:24.100 that's
00:23:25.580 the
00:23:25.700 source
00:23:26.440 of
00:23:26.640 our
00:23:26.800 worry
00:23:27.320 and
00:23:27.680 that's
00:23:27.920 the
00:23:28.060 source
00:23:28.280 of
00:23:28.420 our
00:23:28.540 problems
00:23:28.860 but we
00:23:29.220 don't
00:23:29.460 know
00:23:29.700 the
00:23:29.860 bill
00:23:30.000 of
00:23:30.120 rights
00:23:30.380 well
00:23:30.660 enough
00:23:30.960 but
00:23:32.180 those
00:23:33.340 that
00:23:33.680 bill
00:23:33.840 of
00:23:33.960 rights
00:23:34.180 came
00:23:34.560 from
00:23:34.940 a
00:23:35.140 period
00:23:35.400 of
00:23:35.600 enlightenment
00:23:36.080 and I
00:23:36.580 think
00:23:36.920 we're
00:23:37.160 beginning
00:23:37.560 to
00:23:38.040 revive
00:23:38.640 that
00:23:38.940 the
00:23:39.140 embers
00:23:39.460 are
00:23:39.640 starting
00:23:39.920 to be
00:23:40.320 to be
00:23:41.080 blown
00:23:41.520 somewhat
00:23:41.980 and
00:23:42.600 we
00:23:43.660 have
00:23:43.920 two
00:23:44.100 choices
00:23:44.640 look
00:23:45.240 at
00:23:45.380 China
00:23:45.680 we
00:23:45.860 just
00:23:46.040 told
00:23:46.260 you
00:23:46.380 that
00:23:46.580 China
00:23:47.020 is
00:23:47.980 by
00:23:48.360 2020
00:23:49.120 making
00:23:49.860 it
00:23:50.080 government
00:23:50.680 policy
00:23:51.500 for
00:23:52.240 you
00:23:52.480 to
00:23:52.660 have
00:23:52.920 a
00:23:53.140 social
00:23:53.540 media
00:23:54.260 ranking
00:23:55.740 based
00:23:57.040 on
00:23:57.440 what
00:23:58.100 you
00:23:58.300 buy
00:23:58.860 how
00:24:00.140 you

00:25:02.760 that's
00:25:06.360 and
00:25:06.500 gosh
00:25:07.460 that's
00:25:07.780 true
00:25:08.020 jeez
00:25:08.420 it's
00:25:09.120 specifically
00:25:09.820 mentioned
00:25:10.500 in the
00:25:11.080 China
00:25:11.380 policy
00:25:11.940 was

00:25:13.880 they
00:25:14.060 had
00:25:14.460 to
00:25:14.580 have
00:25:14.700 based
00:25:14.940 this
00:25:15.120 on
00:25:15.240 the
00:25:15.320 China
00:25:15.480 policy

00:25:16.820 the
00:25:17.000 black

00:25:17.500 because
00:25:17.780 it's
00:25:18.040 everything
00:25:18.480 that
00:25:18.840 they
00:25:19.080 everything
00:25:19.620 that
00:25:19.920 they're
00:25:20.120 proposing
00:25:20.540 and
00:25:20.840 they
00:25:21.000 are
00:25:21.200 going
00:25:21.440 to
00:25:21.640 implement
00:25:22.040 by
00:25:22.320 2020
00:25:22.680 yeah
00:25:23.040 and
00:25:23.220 the
00:25:23.440 way
00:25:23.580 the
00:25:23.740 black
00:25:23.980 mirror
00:25:24.220 thing
00:25:24.460 works
00:25:24.740 is
00:25:24.880 you
00:25:24.980 have
00:25:25.100 an
00:25:25.200 interaction
00:25:25.560 with
00:25:25.800 someone
00:25:26.100 you
00:25:26.580 walk
00:25:27.040 up
00:25:27.160 to
00:25:27.280 someone
00:25:27.520 you
00:25:27.680 have
00:25:27.840 an
00:25:27.940 interaction
00:25:28.240 if
00:25:28.420 it's
00:25:28.540 a
00:25:28.660 positive
00:25:29.000 one
00:25:29.280 they
00:25:29.440 might
00:25:29.680 give
00:25:29.960 you
00:25:30.060 a
00:25:30.200 positive
00:25:31.040 ranking
00:25:32.360 and
00:25:32.540 if
00:25:32.660 not
00:25:33.040 they
00:25:33.160 give
00:25:33.260 you
00:25:33.320 a
00:25:33.420 negative
00:25:33.660 and
00:25:34.120 once
00:25:34.380 you
00:25:34.500 get
00:25:34.660 below
00:25:34.960 that
00:25:35.200 4.2
00:25:36.140 on a
00:25:36.540 5 star
00:25:37.020 system
00:25:37.500 you
00:25:38.340 start
00:25:38.840 losing
00:25:39.300 benefits
00:25:39.880 and
00:25:40.120 access
00:25:40.480 to
00:25:40.800 things
00:25:41.220 and
00:25:41.440 it's
00:25:41.640 you
00:25:41.760 know
00:25:41.880 I
00:25:42.240 guess
00:25:42.480 ideally
00:25:42.900 it's
00:25:43.780 supposed
00:25:44.020 to
00:25:44.200 incentivize
00:25:44.760 you
00:25:44.900 to
00:25:45.080 never
00:25:45.520 do
00:25:46.440 those
00:25:46.760 things
00:25:47.120 it's
00:25:47.840 a
00:25:47.980 level
00:25:48.460 of
00:25:48.640 government
00:25:49.140 control
00:25:49.740 right
00:25:50.040 so
00:25:50.240 the
00:25:50.380 question
00:25:50.680 is
00:25:50.920 are
00:25:51.060 we
00:25:51.300 are
00:25:51.540 we
00:25:51.720 sheep
00:25:52.260 or
00:25:52.820 are
00:25:53.080 we
00:25:53.280 people
00:25:53.920 with
00:25:54.500 God
00:25:55.320 given
00:25:55.760 rights
00:25:56.280 and
00:25:56.580 talents
00:25:57.020 and
00:25:57.400 God
00:25:57.640 given
00:25:57.900 responsibilities
00:25:58.740 are
00:25:59.660 we
00:25:59.860 sheep
00:26:00.400 or
00:26:00.820 are
00:26:01.040 we
00:26:01.320 people
00:26:02.560 individuals
00:26:03.720 not
00:26:04.400 a
00:26:04.520 collective
00:26:04.900 an
00:26:05.400 individual
00:26:06.000 and
00:26:07.220 I
00:26:07.460 think
00:26:07.800 people
00:26:08.220 are
00:26:08.460 starting
00:26:08.720 to
00:26:08.900 see
00:26:09.120 on
00:26:09.360 the
00:26:09.500 left
00:26:09.820 wait
00:26:10.120 my
00:26:10.400 side
00:26:10.660 has
00:26:10.820 gone
00:26:11.060 crazy
00:26:11.660 my
00:26:13.100 side
00:26:13.340 has
00:26:13.480 gone
00:26:13.700 crazy
00:26:14.300 the
00:26:14.680 the
00:26:14.980 the
00:26:15.300 leaders
00:26:15.660 of the
00:26:15.980 women's
00:26:16.440 march
00:26:16.760 were
00:26:17.780 in
00:26:18.220 the
00:26:18.500 audience
00:26:19.280 of
00:26:20.320 Louis
00:26:21.060 Farrakhan
00:26:21.920 last
00:26:22.840 weekend
00:26:23.540 and
00:26:24.380 they're
00:26:24.560 defending
00:26:25.160 that
00:26:25.740 yeah
00:26:26.000 there's
00:26:26.440 now
00:26:26.640 a
00:26:26.860 new
00:26:27.140 letter
00:26:27.620 out
00:26:27.940 from

00:26:29.860 Republican
00:26:30.340 Jewish
00:26:30.820 group
00:26:31.220 that is
00:26:31.720 saying
00:26:32.100 seven
00:26:33.340 members
00:26:33.920 seven
00:26:34.540 Democratic
00:26:35.200 sitting
00:26:35.720 congressmen
00:26:36.380 have met
00:26:37.020 with
00:26:37.260 Louis
00:26:37.660 Farrakhan
00:26:38.300 can
00:26:39.560 you
00:26:39.700 imagine
00:26:40.060 if
00:26:40.260 seven
00:26:40.760 Republicans
00:26:41.740 had met
00:26:42.440 with
00:26:42.640 David

00:26:43.380 would
00:26:43.920 those
00:26:44.100 people
00:26:44.360 be
00:26:44.560 I
00:26:44.920 mean
00:26:45.060 they
00:26:45.620 would
00:26:45.780 the
00:26:46.020 biggest
00:26:46.620 story
00:26:47.060 in the

00:26:48.820 to

00:27:26.980 my
00:27:27.180 all
00:27:29.000 my

00:27:31.440 know
00:27:31.640 but
00:27:31.960 it
00:27:32.100 just
00:27:32.300 shows
00:27:32.580 the
00:27:32.760 choice
00:27:33.080 that
00:27:33.220 we
00:27:33.320 have
00:27:33.480 in
00:27:33.620 front
00:27:33.780 of
00:27:33.900 us
00:27:34.160 there
00:27:36.580 is
00:27:37.380 a
00:27:37.520 show
00:27:37.800 on
00:27:38.020 Netflix
00:27:38.320 and
00:27:38.500 let's
00:27:39.200 talk
00:27:39.420 about
00:27:39.560 it
00:27:39.660 for
00:27:39.760 a
00:27:39.860 few
00:27:40.000 minutes
00:27:40.200 and
00:27:40.340 then
00:27:40.620 I'm
00:27:41.740 going to
00:27:41.860 give
00:27:41.980 you
00:27:42.040 some
00:27:42.220 homework
00:27:42.580 watch
00:27:43.340 the
00:27:43.560 push
00:27:43.900 it's
00:27:44.220 one
00:27:44.600 it's
00:27:45.020 an hour
00:27:45.620 it's
00:27:46.240 one
00:27:46.540 hour
00:27:46.860 it's
00:27:47.180 one
00:27:47.420 episode
00:27:47.820 so
00:27:48.060 it's
00:27:48.180 not
00:27:48.360 a
00:27:56.180 psychologist
00:27:56.920 magician
00:27:57.860 who
00:27:58.760 is
00:27:59.000 apparently
00:27:59.420 well
00:27:59.860 known
00:28:00.280 in
00:28:00.660 England
00:28:00.940 and
00:28:02.180 it
00:28:03.840 will
00:28:05.060 bother
00:28:05.440 you
00:28:05.760 it
00:28:05.960 will
00:28:06.140 you
00:28:06.720 will
00:28:06.920 watch
00:28:07.220 the
00:28:07.360 whole
00:28:07.480 thing
00:28:07.660 and
00:28:07.820 say
00:28:08.140 I
00:28:08.640 don't
00:28:08.860 know
00:28:09.140 if
00:28:09.480 this
00:28:09.860 is
00:28:10.200 even
00:28:10.600 right
00:28:11.160 to
00:28:11.500 do
00:28:12.000 to
00:28:12.340 people
00:28:12.720 because
00:28:13.440 I
00:28:13.620 think
00:28:13.740 they're
00:28:13.880 going
00:28:13.960 to
00:28:14.000 be
00:28:14.180 psychologically
00:28:14.760 scarred
00:28:16.100 by
00:28:16.720 this
00:28:16.960 especially
00:28:17.220 because
00:28:17.440 it's
00:28:17.600 on
00:28:17.840 television
00:28:18.640 so
00:28:19.120 you're
00:28:19.740 filmed
00:28:20.120 so
00:28:20.720 what
00:28:20.960 they
00:28:21.100 did
00:28:21.320 is
00:28:21.500 they
00:28:21.740 they
00:28:21.760 started
00:28:22.860 to
00:28:23.280 they
00:28:23.620 went
00:28:24.100 and
00:28:24.240 they
00:28:24.360 said
00:28:24.500 hey
00:28:24.600 we're
00:28:24.740 doing
00:28:26.180 reality
00:28:26.620 people
00:28:26.940 so
00:28:27.160 they
00:28:27.360 got
00:28:27.560 people
00:28:28.060 and
00:28:28.260 they
00:28:28.360 were
00:28:28.480 looking
00:28:28.820 for
00:28:29.140 normal
00:28:29.940 human
00:28:30.600 beings
00:28:31.120 but
00:28:32.360 had
00:28:32.620 a
00:28:32.800 tendency
00:28:33.200 to
00:28:33.800 just
00:28:34.320 obey
00:28:34.800 commands
00:28:35.420 okay
00:28:35.920 but
00:28:36.080 not
00:28:36.360 like
00:28:36.720 crazy
00:28:37.300 just
00:28:38.100 you
00:28:38.320 would
00:28:38.700 you
00:28:38.920 would
00:28:39.060 say
00:28:39.220 these
00:28:39.380 are
00:28:39.540 absolutely
00:28:40.200 normal
00:28:40.660 people
00:28:41.020 listen
00:28:41.300 to
00:28:41.560 instructions
00:28:42.120 like
00:28:42.320 any
00:28:42.460 normal
00:28:42.720 person
00:28:43.000 correct
00:28:43.320 follows
00:28:43.720 instructions
00:28:44.300 they
00:28:45.540 have
00:28:45.760 about
00:28:45.960 a hundred
00:28:46.380 actors
00:28:46.980 and
00:28:47.920 they
00:28:48.720 tell
00:28:49.060 all of
00:28:49.380 the
00:28:49.480 people
00:28:49.720 that
00:28:49.900 have
00:28:50.040 applied
00:28:50.520 you
00:28:50.820 didn't
00:28:51.020 get
00:28:51.200 the
00:28:51.400 you
00:28:51.640 didn't
00:28:51.840 get
00:28:51.980 the
00:28:52.140 show
00:28:52.380 then
00:28:53.120 they
00:28:53.260 waited
00:28:53.620 a
00:28:53.840 few
00:28:54.000 months
00:28:54.320 and
00:28:54.620 then
00:28:54.820 somebody
00:28:55.160 else
00:28:55.440 has
00:28:55.600 called
00:28:55.780 them
00:28:55.960 back
00:28:56.380 through
00:28:57.060 their
00:28:57.380 employer
00:28:57.980 and
00:29:00.080 it's
00:29:00.360 completely
00:29:00.980 disconnected
00:29:01.500 so
00:29:01.740 they
00:29:01.900 don't
00:29:02.120 know
00:29:02.360 that
00:29:02.560 this
00:29:02.760 is
00:29:02.940 a
00:29:03.260 show
00:29:03.740 or
00:29:03.980 reality
00:29:04.440 or
00:29:04.620 anything
00:29:04.900 they
00:29:05.140 think
00:29:05.380 this
00:29:05.560 is
00:29:05.700 real
00:29:05.920 life
00:29:06.180 their
00:29:06.760 employer
00:29:07.240 says
00:29:07.560 I've
00:29:07.860 got
00:29:08.060 this
00:29:08.320 party
00:29:08.840 that
00:29:09.480 you
00:29:09.600 need
00:29:09.820 to
00:29:09.940 go
00:29:10.120 to
00:29:10.480 and
00:29:11.600 it's
00:29:11.900 a
00:29:12.160 fundraiser
00:29:13.180 and
00:29:13.420 you're
00:29:13.600 going
00:29:13.720 to
00:29:13.760 be
00:29:13.900 able
00:29:14.040 to
00:29:14.200 network
00:29:14.760 and
00:29:15.720 they
00:29:15.840 just
00:29:16.000 need
00:29:16.180 some
00:29:16.360 help
00:29:16.600 can
00:29:16.880 you
00:29:17.060 just
00:29:17.620 go
00:29:17.920 the
00:29:18.580 employer
00:29:19.120 drops
00:29:19.720 that
00:29:19.960 person
00:29:20.360 off
00:29:20.820 and
00:29:21.700 says
00:29:21.960 you're
00:29:22.160 going
00:29:22.240 to
00:29:22.320 really
00:29:22.480 be
00:29:22.640 able
00:29:22.800 to
00:29:22.940 network
00:29:23.300 introduces
00:29:23.900 and
00:29:24.320 the
00:29:25.440 idea
00:29:26.460 is
00:29:27.020 in
00:29:28.900 90
00:29:29.660 minutes
00:29:30.180 can
00:29:31.820 we
00:29:32.060 convince
00:29:32.660 the
00:29:33.300 average
00:29:33.960 human
00:29:34.620 a
00:29:35.720 decent
00:29:36.240 person
00:29:36.760 male
00:29:37.220 and
00:29:37.440 female
00:29:37.820 in
00:29:38.180 90
00:29:38.720 minutes
00:29:39.200 can
00:29:40.300 we
00:29:40.580 convince
00:29:41.200 them
00:29:41.660 and
00:29:42.440 get
00:29:42.860 them
00:29:43.260 to
00:29:43.560 actually
00:29:44.420 murder
00:29:45.820 an
00:29:46.520 innocent
00:29:46.980 person
00:29:47.620 can
00:29:48.700 we
00:29:49.020 convince
00:29:49.680 them
00:29:50.020 that
00:29:50.240 it
00:29:50.380 is
00:29:50.540 the
00:29:50.720 most
00:29:51.020 logical
00:29:51.620 thing
00:29:52.000 to
00:29:52.180 do
00:29:52.480 to
00:29:53.120 murder
00:29:53.740 someone
00:29:54.320 you
00:29:56.380 will
00:29:56.880 not
00:29:57.700 believe
00:29:59.240 how
00:30:00.380 this
00:30:00.680 happens
00:30:01.060 you
00:30:01.300 have
00:30:01.720 to
00:30:01.880 see
00:30:02.040 the
00:30:02.200 show
00:30:02.460 you
00:30:02.620 have
00:30:02.880 to
00:30:03.020 see
00:30:03.260 it
00:30:03.520 it's
00:30:03.940 incredible
00:30:04.480 yeah
00:30:04.860 and
00:30:05.280 you know
00:30:05.560 the way
00:30:06.020 that
00:30:06.280 they're
00:30:06.420 talking
00:30:06.680 about
00:30:06.820 it
00:30:06.880 we
00:30:07.000 won't
00:30:07.180 give
00:30:07.500 too
00:30:08.580 much
00:30:08.800 away
00:30:09.080 here
00:30:09.360 but
00:30:10.340 what
00:30:10.620 they're
00:30:10.760 talking
00:30:11.040 about
00:30:11.220 are
00:30:11.340 social
00:30:11.800 pressures
00:30:12.300 right
00:30:13.060 like
00:30:13.340 it's
00:30:13.640 little
00:30:14.860 things
00:30:15.460 that
00:30:16.020 happen
00:30:16.320 to
00:30:16.480 you
00:30:16.580 that
00:30:16.680 you
00:30:16.780 kind
00:30:16.960 of
00:30:17.060 you're
00:30:17.220 not
00:30:17.340 sure
00:30:17.600 about
00:30:17.820 what
00:30:17.960 you
00:30:18.040 go
00:30:18.240 along
00:30:18.580 with
00:30:18.900 and
00:30:19.200 everybody
00:30:19.860 does
00:30:20.420 this
00:30:20.720 right
00:30:20.940 like
00:30:21.120 it's
00:30:21.260 the
00:30:21.400 old
00:30:21.680 thing
00:30:22.060 of
00:30:22.260 you'd
00:30:22.800 go
00:30:22.940 up
00:30:23.100 to
00:30:23.440 a
00:30:24.020 counter
00:30:24.380 and
00:30:24.880 there'd
00:30:25.020 be
00:30:25.100 one
00:30:25.320 long
00:30:25.580 line
00:30:25.800 and
00:30:25.920 one
00:30:26.100 short
00:30:26.400 line
00:30:26.680 and
00:30:35.560 why
00:30:36.300 no
00:30:37.020 one
00:30:37.200 is
00:30:37.340 in
00:30:37.440 that
00:30:37.600 line
00:30:37.960 so
00:30:38.300 I'm
00:30:38.440 going
00:30:38.500 to
00:30:38.600 stand
00:30:38.820 here
00:30:39.000 and
00:30:39.120 wait
00:30:39.260 for
00:30:39.400 20
00:30:39.660 minutes
00:30:39.860 like
00:30:40.000 an
00:30:40.100 idiot
00:30:40.300 that's
00:30:41.020 how
00:30:41.140 we
00:30:41.300 think
00:30:41.660 you
00:30:41.820 know
00:30:41.900 we
00:30:42.080 you
00:30:42.540 wind
00:30:42.740 up
00:30:42.840 like
00:30:43.020 you're
00:30:43.360 always
00:30:43.600 putting
00:30:43.820 things
00:30:44.060 in
00:30:44.200 context
00:30:44.720 and
00:30:45.280 instead
00:30:45.480 of
00:30:45.600 having
00:30:45.880 you
00:30:46.340 know
00:30:46.560 it
00:30:47.800 goes
00:30:47.940 to
00:30:48.460 really
00:30:48.680 having
00:30:48.940 principles
00:30:49.360 right
00:30:49.620 a lot
00:30:49.900 of
00:30:49.980 times
00:30:50.280 this
00:30:50.540 happens
00:30:50.840 and
00:30:50.940 we
00:30:51.040 realize
00:30:51.460 psychologists
00:30:52.980 have
00:30:53.180 looked at
00:30:53.340 this
00:30:53.440 for a
00:30:53.640 long
00:30:53.760 time
00:30:54.120 that
00:30:54.980 people
00:30:56.620 will
00:30:57.340 violate
00:30:57.780 these
00:30:58.040 things
00:31:05.560 the
00:31:06.180 things
00:31:06.600 like
00:31:07.880 the
00:31:08.040 very
00:31:08.260 first
00:31:08.660 thing
00:31:08.860 they
00:31:09.020 ask
00:31:09.300 them
00:31:09.440 to
00:31:09.580 do
00:31:09.920 is
00:31:10.540 they
00:31:10.720 have
00:31:11.100 these
00:31:11.520 little
00:31:12.000 you
00:31:12.680 know
00:31:12.920 cocktail
00:31:13.580 weenies
00:31:14.400 right
00:31:14.800 the little
00:31:15.060 hot dogs
00:31:15.540 and they
00:31:15.980 have
00:31:16.200 they
00:31:16.720 were
00:31:16.980 supposed
00:31:17.200 to
00:31:17.380 have
00:31:17.540 some
00:31:17.820 that
00:31:18.000 are
00:31:18.240 non
00:31:18.720 vegetarian
00:31:19.220 you know
00:31:19.540 meat
00:31:19.820 and some
00:31:20.420 that
00:31:20.540 are
00:31:20.660 vegetarian
00:31:21.120 okay
00:31:21.740 the
00:31:22.480 vegetarian
00:31:22.960 delivery
00:31:24.680 doesn't
00:31:25.000 show up
00:31:25.440 so
00:31:26.380 what
00:31:26.660 they
00:31:26.820 ask
00:31:27.100 him
00:31:27.300 to
00:31:27.460 do
00:31:27.580 is
00:31:27.660 just
00:31:27.780 put
00:31:28.600 some
00:31:28.800 of
00:31:28.880 the
00:31:28.960 ones
00:31:29.100 that
00:31:29.200 are
00:31:29.300 meat
00:31:29.520 on
00:31:29.780 the
00:31:29.880 vegetarian
00:31:30.260 plate
00:31:30.620 so
00:31:31.480 it
00:31:35.560 back
00:31:35.640 behind
00:31:36.160 you know
00:31:36.660 closed
00:31:36.900 doors
00:31:37.080 no
00:31:37.280 one's
00:31:37.440 gonna
00:31:37.560 know
00:31:37.900 just
00:31:38.280 with
00:31:38.440 one
00:31:38.620 other
00:31:38.760 person
00:31:39.040 that's
00:31:39.680 an
00:31:39.820 actor
00:31:40.060 and
00:31:40.540 do
00:31:40.720 these
00:31:40.920 people
00:31:41.320 all right
00:31:42.000 I'll
00:31:42.300 break
00:31:42.640 I mean
00:31:43.040 I know
00:31:43.280 I shouldn't
00:31:43.660 do that
00:31:44.060 because
00:31:44.300 it's
00:31:44.520 kind of
00:31:44.780 rude
00:31:45.000 if
00:31:45.140 someone's
00:31:45.420 a
00:31:45.500 vegetarian
00:31:45.840 they're
00:31:46.020 gonna
00:31:46.080 be
00:31:46.160 eating
00:31:46.280 mean
00:31:46.540 and
00:31:46.680 that's
00:31:46.920 but
00:31:47.180 it's
00:31:47.320 no
00:31:47.440 big
00:31:47.660 deal
00:31:48.040 I'll
00:31:48.340 go
00:31:48.500 along
00:31:48.800 with
00:31:49.000 it
00:31:49.140 and
00:31:49.640 they
00:31:49.760 get
00:31:49.860 them
00:31:49.980 to
00:31:53.120 get
00:31:53.440 them
00:31:53.580 to
00:31:53.720 eventually
00:31:54.120 by the
00:31:54.500 end
00:31:54.680 of 90
00:31:55.260 minutes
00:31:55.640 to murder
00:31:56.580 an
00:31:56.860 innocent
00:31:57.180 person
00:31:57.640 right
00:31:57.880 to
00:31:58.160 go
00:31:58.440 up
00:31:58.620 on
00:31:58.740 a
00:31:58.880 roof
00:31:59.120 and
00:31:59.440 push
00:31:59.800 this
00:32:00.080 innocent
00:32:00.480 person
00:32:00.960 off
00:32:01.580 the
00:32:02.100 roof
00:32:02.600 yeah
00:32:02.840 and
00:32:03.520 it
00:32:03.680 is
00:32:03.920 it's
00:32:04.180 the
00:32:04.340 most
00:32:04.560 tense
00:32:04.980 thing
00:32:05.240 you've
00:32:05.500 ever
00:32:05.740 seen
00:32:06.160 it
00:32:06.800 doesn't
00:32:07.400 it's
00:32:07.880 not
00:32:08.240 I mean
00:32:08.920 it's
00:32:09.120 obviously
00:32:09.420 a reality
00:32:09.880 show
00:32:10.140 but it's
00:32:10.460 not
00:32:10.740 it's
00:32:11.000 it's
00:32:11.280 it is
00:32:11.700 if
00:32:12.520 you've
00:32:12.820 read
00:32:13.080 the
00:32:13.260 book
00:32:13.620 ordinary
00:32:14.520 men
00:32:15.060 and
00:32:16.340 it's
00:32:16.580 that
00:32:17.080 book
00:32:17.380 it was
00:32:17.700 written
00:32:17.960 as a
00:32:18.540 science
00:32:19.020 study
00:32:19.800 a
00:32:20.000 historic
00:32:20.520 study
00:32:21.160 of
00:32:21.360 going
00:32:21.680 back
00:32:21.980 and
00:32:22.140 how
00:32:22.580 did
00:32:22.960 they
00:32:23.160 get
00:32:23.420 the
00:32:23.660 polls
00:32:24.140 the
00:32:24.860 good
00:32:25.280 police
00:32:25.940 people
00:32:26.660 who
00:32:26.980 are
00:32:27.140 in
00:32:27.300 Poland
00:32:27.620 to
00:32:28.600 go
00:32:29.020 and
00:32:29.600 line
00:32:30.440 Jews
00:32:30.860 up
00:32:31.120 and
00:32:31.320 shoot
00:32:31.640 them
00:32:31.880 and
00:32:32.060 just
00:32:32.280 dump
00:32:32.760 them
00:32:32.960 into
00:32:33.420 mass
00:32:33.820 graves
00:32:34.240 it
00:32:35.440 was
00:32:35.760 it
00:32:36.380 was
00:32:36.560 this
00:32:36.820 show
00:32:37.300 it
00:32:38.160 started
00:32:38.740 slowly
00:32:39.960 little
00:32:40.720 teeny
00:32:41.160 things
00:32:41.740 and
00:32:42.020 and
00:32:42.360 then
00:32:42.480 there's
00:32:42.720 just
00:32:42.880 this
00:32:43.060 watershed
00:32:43.580 moment
00:32:44.460 where
00:32:44.700 it's
00:32:44.840 just
00:32:44.960 like
00:32:45.160 they
00:32:45.340 they're
00:32:45.720 just
00:32:45.960 in
00:32:46.160 it
00:32:46.380 they're
00:32:46.700 just
00:32:46.840 in
00:32:47.020 it
00:32:47.220 it's
00:32:48.300 fascinating
00:32:49.240 if
00:32:49.960 we
00:32:50.040 want to
00:32:50.160 play
00:32:50.240 the
00:32:50.340 clip
00:32:50.520 we'll
00:32:50.720 probably
00:32:50.960 need
00:32:51.120 to
00:32:51.200 take
00:32:51.320 a
00:32:51.420 break
00:32:51.560 and
00:32:51.680 come
00:32:51.780 back
00:32:51.920 on
00:32:52.000 the
00:32:52.060 other
00:32:52.180 side
00:32:52.320 and
00:32:52.480 do
00:32:52.600 that
00:32:52.840 okay
00:32:53.020 so
00:32:57.760 tax
00:33:00.100 season
00:33:00.360 is
00:33:00.580 in
00:33:00.740 full
00:33:00.920 swing
00:33:01.180 now
00:33:01.380 some
00:33:01.600 experts
00:33:01.920 are
00:33:02.060 saying
00:33:02.280 that
00:33:02.440 filing
00:33:02.860 your
00:33:03.100 taxes
00:33:03.380 early
00:33:03.680 prevents
00:33:04.060 identity
00:33:04.580 theft
00:33:05.040 but it
00:33:05.660 really
00:33:05.800 doesn't
00:33:06.240 the
00:33:06.640 underlying
00:33:06.960 problems
00:33:07.440 still
00:33:07.680 exist
00:33:08.100 your
00:33:08.380 stolen
00:33:08.800 information
00:33:09.340 is
00:33:09.540 out
00:33:09.720 there
00:33:09.900 and
00:33:10.020 it
00:33:10.100 can
00:33:10.180 be
00:33:10.280 used
00:33:10.480 in
00:33:10.620 other
00:33:10.800 ways
00:33:11.140 like
00:33:11.360 opening
00:33:11.620 up
00:33:11.800 a
00:33:11.920 credit

00:33:12.320 in
00:33:12.400 your

00:33:12.780 or
00:33:13.020 you
00:33:13.600 know
00:33:13.840 or
00:33:14.400 being

00:33:16.400 dark
00:33:16.680 web
00:33:17.000 if
00:33:17.900 your
00:33:18.120 info
00:33:18.440 was
00:33:18.700 part
00:33:18.980 of
00:33:19.100 a
00:33:19.240 breach
00:33:19.640 don't
00:33:20.300 get
00:33:20.440 too
00:33:20.620 comfortable
00:33:21.040 just

00:34:29.180 about it
00:34:29.440 tomorrow
00:34:29.640 you've got
00:34:30.160 to watch
00:34:30.520 this
00:34:30.820 this is
00:34:31.620 just the
00:34:31.960 opening
00:34:32.280 few
00:34:32.600 minutes
00:34:32.840 they
00:34:33.060 call
00:34:33.840 a
00:34:34.260 restaurant
00:34:34.780 and
00:34:35.520 they
00:34:35.780 say
00:34:36.300 to
00:34:36.560 just
00:34:36.780 random
00:34:37.440 server
00:34:37.920 hey
00:34:38.400 there's
00:34:38.660 a
00:34:38.800 woman
00:34:39.120 she's
00:34:39.740 sitting
00:34:39.940 in
00:34:40.120 your
00:34:40.320 restaurant
00:34:40.860 she's
00:34:41.180 got
00:34:41.300 a
00:34:41.440 baby
00:34:41.660 carriage
00:34:42.140 that's
00:34:42.980 not
00:34:43.180 her
00:34:43.360 baby
00:34:43.700 we're
00:34:44.160 the
00:34:44.320 police
00:34:44.820 just
00:34:45.640 distract
00:34:46.380 her
00:34:46.680 then
00:34:47.180 get
00:34:47.460 the
00:34:47.640 baby
00:34:47.860 carriage
00:34:48.320 and
00:34:48.700 meet
00:34:49.140 me
00:34:49.280 at
00:34:49.400 the
00:34:49.540 corner
00:34:49.800 on
00:34:50.000 the
00:34:50.120 street
00:34:50.380 you
00:34:50.560 got
00:34:50.680 to
00:34:50.780 get
00:34:50.900 me
00:34:51.020 the
00:34:51.160 baby
00:34:51.480 and
00:34:52.580 the
00:34:52.780 person
00:34:53.140 does
00:34:53.640 it
00:34:53.880 in
00:34:54.380 three
00:34:54.720 minutes
00:34:55.280 they
00:34:55.800 just
00:34:56.000 do
00:34:56.240 it
00:34:56.480 that's
00:34:57.380 the
00:34:57.500 beginning
00:34:57.740 listen
00:34:58.020 to
00:34:58.160 this
00:34:58.480 tom
00:34:59.080 you've
00:34:59.300 just
00:34:59.500 persuaded
00:35:00.160 a
00:35:00.400 stranger
00:35:00.900 to
00:35:01.140 steal
00:35:01.460 a
00:35:01.600 baby
00:35:02.020 so
00:35:03.900 go on
00:35:04.220 how you
00:35:04.740 feeling
00:35:04.940 that was
00:35:06.900 horrible
00:35:07.280 that was
00:35:08.480 horrible
00:35:09.000 okay well
00:35:09.920 well done
00:35:10.420 for pushing
00:35:10.840 him into
00:35:11.220 it
00:35:11.520 although of
00:35:12.540 course
00:35:12.700 what we've
00:35:13.020 got planned
00:35:13.620 will be
00:35:14.260 a lot
00:35:14.860 worse
00:35:15.320 the
00:35:22.420 person
00:35:22.800 you
00:35:23.000 just
00:35:23.280 saw
00:35:23.560 making
00:35:23.920 the
00:35:24.120 phone
00:35:24.340 call
00:35:24.660 isn't
00:35:25.120 really
00:35:25.400 a
00:35:25.620 policeman
00:35:26.000 he's
00:35:26.700 an
00:35:26.820 actor
00:35:27.120 so
00:35:29.520 is
00:35:29.720 the
00:35:29.880 woman
00:35:30.080 in
00:35:30.240 the
00:35:30.380 cafe
00:35:30.680 and
00:35:32.280 that
00:35:32.480 baby
00:35:32.980 was
00:35:33.420 just
00:35:33.720 a
00:35:33.940 lifelike
00:35:34.380 replica
00:35:34.820 but
00:35:36.020 the
00:35:36.180 cafe
00:35:36.440 worker
00:35:36.920 was
00:35:37.340 real
00:35:37.680 and
00:35:38.120 didn't
00:35:38.360 know
00:35:38.540 any
00:35:38.720 of
00:35:38.880 this
00:35:39.180 until
00:35:39.860 my
00:35:40.100 team
00:35:40.360 caught
00:35:40.620 up
00:35:40.800 with
00:35:40.960 him
00:35:41.120 and
00:35:41.240 explained
00:35:41.820 I
00:35:43.280 know
00:35:43.500 I
00:35:43.780 couldn't
00:35:44.060 see
00:35:44.380 I
00:35:44.540 was
00:35:44.660 like
00:35:44.920 I
00:35:45.360 in
00:35:45.520 such
00:35:45.760 a
00:35:45.900 fan
00:35:46.440 it
00:35:46.660 it's
00:35:47.780 surprisingly
00:35:48.360 easy
00:35:48.820 for
00:35:49.080 someone
00:35:49.360 to
00:35:49.600 pretend
00:35:49.900 to
00:35:50.080 be
00:35:50.180 an
00:35:50.320 authority
00:35:50.680 figure
00:35:51.060 like
00:35:51.320 a
00:35:51.460 policeman
00:35:51.840 and
00:35:52.480 order
00:35:52.820 a
00:35:53.040 complete
00:35:53.360 stranger
00:35:53.920 to
00:35:54.160 do
00:35:54.380 something
00:35:54.720 they
00:35:54.940 would
00:35:55.160 never
00:35:55.540 normally
00:35:55.960 do
00:35:56.340 this is
00:35:59.260 an
00:35:59.380 extreme
00:35:59.840 example
00:36:00.440 of
00:36:00.800 social
00:36:01.420 compliance
00:36:02.180 following
00:36:02.620 orders
00:36:03.100 doing
00:36:03.700 something
00:36:04.020 because
00:36:04.340 someone
00:36:04.600 else
00:36:04.840 says
00:36:05.060 it's
00:36:05.180 the
00:36:05.340 right
00:36:05.540 thing
00:36:05.740 to
00:36:05.900 do
00:36:06.220 authority
00:36:07.080 can
00:36:07.360 come
00:36:07.600 from
00:36:07.760 a
00:36:07.900 person
00:36:08.260 from
00:36:08.560 a
00:36:08.740 group
00:36:09.140 of
00:36:09.380 like
00:36:09.660 minded
00:36:09.920 individuals
00:36:10.440 or
00:36:10.920 from
00:36:11.100 an
00:36:11.220 ideology
00:36:11.740 don't
00:36:12.300 be
00:36:12.600 too
00:36:13.020 nice
00:36:13.600 it
00:36:13.900 can
00:36:14.020 be
00:36:14.160 used
00:36:14.400 to
00:36:14.600 preserve
00:36:15.120 public
00:36:15.800 order
00:36:16.140 but
00:36:16.940 it
00:36:17.040 can
00:36:17.160 push
00:36:17.360 people
00:36:17.660 to
00:36:17.840 commit
00:36:18.120 terrible
00:36:18.580 acts
00:36:19.180 social
00:36:26.420 compliance
00:36:27.020 is
00:36:27.520 part
00:36:27.980 of
00:36:28.140 life
00:36:28.560 evolution
00:36:29.080 has
00:36:29.380 taught
00:36:29.640 us
00:36:29.860 that
00:36:30.000 it's
00:36:30.240 safer
00:36:30.480 to
00:36:30.620 be
00:36:30.740 one
00:36:30.940 of
00:36:31.060 the
00:36:31.200 crowd
00:36:31.640 but
00:36:32.200 its
00:36:32.400 dangers
00:36:32.960 are
00:36:33.480 worth
00:36:33.760 being
00:36:34.020 aware
00:36:34.360 of
00:36:34.700 now
00:36:35.300 more
00:36:35.600 than
00:36:35.780 ever
00:36:36.160 so
00:36:39.580 I've
00:36:39.760 designed
00:36:40.100 an
00:36:40.300 experiment
00:36:40.900 to
00:36:41.220 investigate
00:36:41.780 the
00:36:42.160 limits
00:36:42.500 of
00:36:42.700 this
00:36:42.980 trait
00:36:43.680 of
00:36:43.840 human
00:36:44.120 nature
00:36:44.560 and
00:36:45.200 it's
00:36:45.420 this
00:36:45.820 can
00:36:46.720 social
00:36:47.220 compliance
00:36:47.900 be
00:36:48.460 used
00:36:49.040 to
00:36:49.480 make
00:36:49.760 someone
00:36:50.260 push
00:36:50.960 a
00:36:51.640 living
00:36:51.980 breathing
00:36:52.560 human
00:36:53.140 being
00:36:53.660 to
00:36:54.660 their
00:36:54.880 death
00:36:55.400 it
00:36:57.860 it
00:36:59.060 is
00:36:59.480 remarkable
00:37:00.560 and
00:37:01.660 an
00:37:01.900 amazing
00:37:02.900 study
00:37:03.360 of
00:37:03.940 human
00:37:04.500 beings
00:37:04.980 average
00:37:05.840 human
00:37:06.200 beings
00:37:06.620 watch
00:37:07.720 it
00:37:07.860 tonight
00:37:08.060 we're
00:37:08.220 going to
00:37:08.360 talk
00:37:08.520 about
00:37:08.660 it
00:37:08.780 tomorrow
00:37:09.000 watch
00:37:09.340 it
00:37:09.460 tonight
00:37:09.760 on
00:37:10.000 Netflix
00:37:10.400 again
00:37:10.860 it's

00:37:36.660 we

00:37:37.300 haven't
00:37:37.740 even
00:37:37.960 begun
00:37:38.440 to
00:37:38.660 discuss
00:37:39.060 school
00:37:39.600 security
00:37:40.260 there's
00:37:41.120 been
00:37:41.220 a few
00:37:41.440 mentions
00:37:41.760 of
00:37:42.000 arming
00:37:42.340 teachers
00:37:42.820 but

00:37:45.300 on
00:37:45.760 on

00:37:48.560 this
00:37:49.440 has
00:37:49.800 to
00:37:50.000 happen
00:37:50.500 because

00:38:12.540 there
00:38:12.780 it's
00:38:13.080 an
00:38:13.460 amazing
00:38:14.240 little
00:38:14.580 town
00:38:14.880 but
00:38:15.040 I
00:38:15.160 want
00:38:15.280 to
00:38:15.400 tell
00:38:15.600 you
00:38:15.740 little
00:38:16.240 town
00:38:16.660 out
00:38:16.920 in the
00:38:17.100 middle
00:38:17.260 of
00:38:17.500 nowhere
00:38:18.200 surrounded
00:38:18.700 by
00:38:18.940 desert
00:38:19.400 it's
00:38:20.160 a
00:38:20.240 community
00:38:20.560 with
00:38:20.840 less
00:38:21.280 than
00:38:21.500 100,000
00:38:22.300 people
00:38:22.700 it's
00:38:23.540 famous
00:38:23.940 really
00:38:24.440 for
00:38:24.800 its
00:38:25.000 proximity
00:38:25.460 to
00:38:25.800 Zion
00:38:26.260 National
00:38:26.680 Park
00:38:27.080 but
00:38:28.100 it's
00:38:28.380 also
00:38:28.760 the
00:38:29.360 winter
00:38:29.680 quarters
00:38:30.140 of
00:38:30.440 Brigham
00:38:30.840 Young's
00:38:31.260 home
00:38:31.620 okay
00:38:32.120 it's
00:38:32.380 not
00:38:32.700 the
00:38:33.040 it's
00:38:33.820 not
00:38:34.000 exactly
00:38:34.320 a
00:38:34.520 hotbed
00:38:34.900 for
00:38:35.120 Islamic
00:38:35.500 extremism
00:38:36.280 so
00:38:37.600 a
00:38:40.260 on
00:38:40.380 Monday
00:38:40.660 and
00:38:40.920 he
00:38:41.020 has
00:38:41.200 a
00:38:41.420 bomb
00:38:41.820 that
00:38:42.060 he
00:38:42.280 made
00:38:42.760 at
00:38:43.100 his
00:38:43.320 home
00:38:43.700 he
00:38:44.660 tried
00:38:44.980 to
00:38:45.180 detonate
00:38:45.840 it
00:38:45.980 inside
00:38:46.620 of
00:38:46.940 school
00:38:47.220 but
00:38:47.420 it
00:38:48.020 malfunctioned
00:38:48.900 thank
00:38:49.100 god
00:38:49.480 and
00:38:50.160 it
00:38:50.280 caused
00:38:50.540 the
00:38:50.660 device
00:38:50.940 to
00:38:51.120 emit
00:38:51.340 large
00:38:52.040 amounts
00:38:52.400 of
00:38:52.600 smoke
00:38:53.020 the
00:38:53.400 school
00:38:53.680 was
00:38:53.920 evacuated
00:38:54.620 and
00:38:54.840 thankfully
00:38:55.260 no
00:38:55.600 one
00:38:55.720 was
00:38:55.880 hurt
00:38:56.200 so
00:38:57.160 police
00:38:57.800 they
00:38:58.120 searched
00:38:58.420 the
00:38:58.540 attacker's
00:38:59.000 house
00:38:59.200 and
00:38:59.460 they
00:38:59.620 found
00:38:59.840 the
00:38:59.960 materials
00:39:00.360 that
00:39:00.540 he
00:39:00.660 used
00:39:00.900 to
00:39:01.080 construct
00:39:01.460 the
00:39:01.680 bomb
00:39:01.920 but
00:39:02.760 they
00:39:02.880 also
00:39:03.220 found
00:39:03.660 evidence
00:39:04.140 that
00:39:04.360 he
00:39:04.520 has
00:39:04.720 been
00:39:04.900 researching
00:39:05.460 and
00:39:05.900 promoting
00:39:06.400 ISIS
00:39:06.840 as
00:39:07.200 it
00:39:07.340 turns
00:39:07.680 out
00:39:08.080 none
00:39:08.940 of
00:39:09.120 this
00:39:09.360 again
00:39:09.840 should
00:39:10.280 have
00:39:10.440 been
00:39:10.640 a
00:39:10.820 surprise
00:39:11.360 the
00:39:12.420 student
00:39:12.720 has
00:39:12.900 already
00:39:13.360 been
00:39:13.820 involved
00:39:14.400 in
00:39:14.720 two
00:39:15.080 separate
00:39:15.600 incidents
00:39:16.100 where
00:39:16.500 he
00:39:16.740 made
00:39:17.040 it
00:39:17.220 clear
00:39:17.640 that
00:39:18.280 he
00:39:18.420 was
00:39:18.600 an
00:39:18.780 ISIS
00:39:19.100 supporter
00:39:19.720 on
00:39:20.460 one
00:39:20.660 occasion
00:39:21.020 he
00:39:21.280 took
00:39:21.460 down
00:39:21.640 the
00:39:21.780 school's
00:39:22.120 American
00:39:22.460 flag
00:39:22.880 and
00:39:23.120 replaced
00:39:23.500 it
00:39:23.660 with
00:39:23.780 an
00:39:23.880 ISIS
00:39:24.160 flag
00:39:24.640 on
00:39:25.380 another
00:39:25.660 one
00:39:25.940 he
00:39:26.100 spray
00:39:26.360 painted
00:39:26.680 ISIS
00:39:27.100 is
00:39:27.420 coming
00:39:27.720 on
00:39:27.940 the
00:39:28.060 side
00:39:28.260 of
00:39:28.360 the
00:39:28.460 building
00:39:28.780 actually
00:39:29.240 he
00:39:30.040 wrote
00:39:30.440 ISIS
00:39:30.880 is
00:39:31.300 C-O-M-I
00:39:32.900 he
00:39:33.700 ran
00:39:33.940 out of
00:39:34.180 time
00:39:34.400 for
00:39:34.560 the
00:39:34.720 N-G
00:39:35.180 but
00:39:35.780 I
00:39:36.060 think
00:39:36.240 we
00:39:36.360 got
00:39:36.500 the
00:39:36.660 point
00:39:37.020 despite
00:39:38.380 all
00:39:38.780 of
00:39:38.960 this
00:39:39.280 officers
00:39:40.340 said
00:39:40.700 he
00:39:40.820 was
00:39:40.980 authorized
00:39:41.340 to
00:39:41.740 be
00:39:41.920 on
00:39:42.140 school
00:39:42.420 grounds
00:39:42.980 now
00:39:44.140 I
00:39:44.400 highly
00:39:45.700 doubt
00:39:46.180 that
00:39:46.380 David
00:39:46.620 Hogg
00:39:47.020 has
00:39:47.220 talked
00:39:47.520 about
00:39:47.760 this
00:39:48.080 today
00:39:48.480 and
00:39:49.360 you
00:39:49.460 probably
00:39:49.740 won't
00:39:50.000 hear
00:39:50.200 anybody
00:39:50.440 else
00:39:50.740 talk
00:39:50.980 about
00:39:51.220 it
00:39:51.340 in
00:39:51.440 the
00:39:51.540 right
00:39:51.700 context
00:39:52.480 but
00:39:53.080 imagine
00:39:53.360 if
00:39:53.540 this
00:39:53.700 attacker
00:39:54.040 had
00:39:54.240 attempted
00:39:54.580 this
00:39:54.860 with
00:39:55.020 an
00:39:55.180 AR-15
00:39:56.160 what
00:39:57.000 if
00:39:57.100 he
00:39:57.200 pulled
00:39:57.440 out
00:39:57.620 the
00:39:57.820 rifle
00:39:58.220 and
00:39:58.820 it
00:39:59.300 jammed
00:39:59.920 even
00:40:00.220 if
00:40:00.360 no
00:40:00.540 one
00:40:00.660 got
00:40:00.860 hurt
00:40:01.320 that
00:40:02.400 might
00:40:02.620 have
00:40:02.700 been
00:40:02.800 the
00:40:02.940 final
00:40:03.200 straw
00:40:03.560 that
00:40:03.780 pushed
00:40:04.080 this
00:40:04.320 gun
00:40:04.580 control
00:40:04.980 debate
00:40:05.300 over
00:40:06.120 the
00:40:06.360 edge
00:40:06.660 media
00:40:07.260 coverage
00:40:07.700 would
00:40:07.920 be
00:40:08.100 blowing
00:40:08.460 up
00:40:08.860 not
00:40:10.640 over
00:40:10.880 the
00:40:11.100 circumstances
00:40:11.860 surrounding
00:40:12.600 the

00:40:13.100 but
00:40:13.420 over
00:40:13.680 the
00:40:13.920 weapon
00:40:14.260 used
00:40:14.960 that's
00:40:15.940 all
00:40:16.060 we'd
00:40:16.260 see
00:40:16.520 on
00:40:16.860 every
00:40:17.060 cable
00:40:17.480 news

00:41:05.040 that we

00:41:27.340 our

00:41:30.400 seems
00:41:31.060 to be
00:41:31.500 falling
00:41:31.840 apart
00:41:32.420 why
00:41:33.880 why

00:41:37.100 isn't
00:41:37.340 the gun
00:41:37.820 it
00:41:38.200 isn't

00:41:40.020 isn't

00:41:50.060 fill
00:41:50.560 and
00:41:51.720 they
00:41:51.900 can't
00:41:52.460 fill
00:41:52.940 it
00:41:53.220 that
00:41:54.920 is
00:41:55.320 the
00:41:55.520 question
00:41:55.960 that
00:41:56.420 we
00:41:56.660 must
00:41:57.540 answer
00:41:58.400 that
00:41:59.320 is
00:41:59.500 the
00:41:59.680 conversation
00:42:00.280 that
00:42:00.980 we
00:42:01.200 must
00:42:01.920 begin
00:42:02.440 to
00:42:02.740 have
00:42:03.160 it
00:42:07.860 it's
00:42:07.980 Wednesday
00:42:08.360 March
00:42:08.740 7th
00:42:09.600 you're
00:42:09.980 listening
00:42:10.240 to
00:42:10.500 the
00:42:10.640 Glenn Beck
00:42:11.080 program
00:42:11.640 you know
00:42:14.160 and in
00:42:14.400 that spirit
00:42:14.960 of asking
00:42:15.640 these
00:42:16.860 these
00:42:18.360 these
00:42:18.700 questions
00:42:19.260 you know
00:42:20.860 one of
00:42:21.220 them is
00:42:21.600 there
00:42:21.840 there is
00:42:22.220 no
00:42:22.340 absolute
00:42:22.760 anymore
00:42:23.260 there
00:42:23.700 is
00:42:24.060 nothing
00:42:25.040 is
00:42:25.540 known
00:42:26.160 anymore
00:42:26.800 there is
00:42:27.680 no
00:42:28.020 higher
00:42:28.500 reason
00:42:29.200 for
00:42:29.520 being
00:42:29.940 I was
00:42:30.740 it was
00:42:31.140 Silicon Valley
00:42:31.800 and I was
00:42:32.120 listening to
00:42:32.660 one of
00:42:34.480 the big
00:42:34.840 venture
00:42:35.280 capitalists
00:42:35.920 and he
00:42:36.760 was talking
00:42:37.220 about the
00:42:37.540 future
00:42:37.840 and he
00:42:38.620 I mean
00:42:38.880 he is
00:42:39.340 Facebook
00:42:40.100 Twitter
00:42:40.520 everything
00:42:41.540 biggest
00:42:42.080 venture
00:42:42.580 capitalist
00:42:43.020 guy in
00:42:43.420 the world
00:42:43.840 and
00:42:44.840 and he
00:42:46.200 said
00:42:46.600 you know
00:42:46.960 I have
00:42:47.200 to tell
00:42:47.480 you
00:42:47.660 the
00:42:48.800 Christians
00:42:49.760 and people
00:42:50.860 of deep
00:42:51.640 faith
00:42:52.140 have a
00:42:54.040 leg up
00:42:54.520 on the
00:42:54.880 rest of
00:42:55.240 us
00:42:55.660 well
00:42:57.520 how do
00:42:57.660 you mean
00:42:57.980 he said
00:42:59.320 because jobs
00:43:00.120 are going
00:43:00.420 to become
00:43:00.820 so scarce
00:43:01.580 life is
00:43:02.300 going to
00:43:02.600 become
00:43:02.880 so easy
00:43:03.620 if we're
00:43:04.060 right about
00:43:04.540 technology
00:43:05.220 and if we
00:43:05.700 survive
00:43:06.100 this
00:43:06.700 this
00:43:07.420 turnover
00:43:07.860 that
00:43:08.760 most people
00:43:09.940 get their
00:43:10.520 meaning
00:43:11.100 out of
00:43:11.800 what they
00:43:12.200 do
00:43:12.820 and he
00:43:14.140 said
00:43:14.600 people
00:43:16.280 of real
00:43:16.980 faith
00:43:17.620 get their
00:43:18.480 meaning
00:43:18.980 out of
00:43:19.440 service
00:43:19.960 for others
00:43:20.600 they find
00:43:21.220 their meaning
00:43:21.860 outside of
00:43:22.840 themselves
00:43:23.360 that's really
00:43:24.880 important
00:43:25.320 and I think
00:43:25.940 that's what's
00:43:26.300 happening to
00:43:26.660 our kids
00:43:27.060 we've lost
00:43:27.720 meaning
00:43:28.220 but what
00:43:29.700 does it
00:43:30.040 mean to
00:43:30.480 be a
00:43:30.740 Christian
00:43:31.100 anymore
00:43:31.560 what does
00:43:32.760 it mean
00:43:33.340 it's
00:43:35.040 like it's
00:43:36.260 not even
00:43:36.560 living in
00:43:37.100 the world
00:43:38.820 we're in
00:43:39.660 not that it
00:43:41.020 should be
00:43:41.940 of the
00:43:42.920 world
00:43:43.200 but it
00:43:43.520 has to
00:43:43.820 be in
00:43:44.180 the world
00:43:44.700 so there's
00:43:49.100 a new
00:43:49.280 book out
00:43:49.780 called
00:43:50.180 The Way
00:43:50.560 Back
00:43:51.040 now this
00:43:51.720 is written
00:43:52.020 by two
00:43:52.500 people
00:43:52.940 Eric Metaxas
00:43:53.840 turned me
00:43:54.200 on to
00:43:54.460 this
00:43:54.760 Phil Cook
00:43:55.760 and Jonathan
00:43:56.400 Bach
00:43:56.740 now Jonathan
00:43:57.320 Bach is
00:43:58.280 the founder
00:43:59.000 of Grace
00:43:59.440 Hill Media
00:43:59.920 which has
00:44:01.100 done
00:44:01.620 every movie
00:44:03.220 that you
00:44:03.580 can imagine
00:44:04.060 that you
00:44:04.560 know that
00:44:04.820 that you
00:44:05.260 might like
00:44:05.980 that has
00:44:06.540 a good
00:44:06.920 message
00:44:07.440 to it
00:44:07.900 it was
00:44:09.580 it's the
00:44:10.960 company
00:44:11.420 that did
00:44:12.240 the Chronicles
00:44:14.300 of Narnia
00:44:15.100 the
00:44:16.120 the Lord
00:44:18.280 of the Rings
00:44:19.040 what else
00:44:19.600 blind side
00:44:20.700 and so
00:44:22.340 here's a guy
00:44:23.040 who is
00:44:23.820 in the media
00:44:25.100 he works
00:44:26.860 in Hollywood
00:44:27.560 and yet
00:44:28.940 he says
00:44:29.820 Christians
00:44:31.480 have lost
00:44:32.000 their credibility
00:44:32.680 and here's
00:44:34.020 the way
00:44:34.340 back
00:44:34.760 we wanted
00:44:35.820 to get
00:44:36.080 him on
00:44:36.340 now
00:44:36.540 Jonathan
00:44:36.860 Bach
00:44:37.160 how are
00:44:37.480 you
00:44:37.580 Jonathan
00:44:37.920 brother
00:44:39.120 Glenn
00:44:39.380 how are
00:44:39.680 you
00:44:39.920 I'm
00:44:40.260 very
00:44:40.500 good
00:44:40.800 I'm
00:44:41.940 actually
00:44:42.200 happy
00:44:42.580 to hear
00:44:42.920 that the
00:44:43.340 Caiaphas
00:44:43.740 has moved
00:44:44.440 to St.
00:44:45.100 George
00:44:45.340 isn't that
00:44:46.540 bizarre
00:44:47.060 that's a
00:44:47.900 real retreat
00:44:48.500 yeah
00:44:48.980 it is
00:44:49.880 okay
00:44:51.020 so
00:44:51.340 so
00:44:51.700 Jonathan
00:44:52.100 you know
00:44:54.200 it's
00:44:54.700 interesting
00:44:55.140 that you
00:44:55.740 know
00:44:55.980 being
00:44:56.660 Hollywood
00:44:57.140 people
00:44:57.660 that you
00:44:59.040 see this
00:44:59.840 and you're
00:45:01.160 not
00:45:01.420 I shouldn't
00:45:02.020 say you're
00:45:02.340 Hollywood
00:45:02.680 you I
00:45:03.620 mean you
00:45:03.880 are a
00:45:04.280 you're a
00:45:04.900 believer
00:45:05.280 but you're
00:45:06.580 seeing this
00:45:07.060 and you're
00:45:07.540 you're
00:45:08.460 largely
00:45:10.140 responsible
00:45:10.840 for the
00:45:11.540 renaissance
00:45:12.380 of
00:45:13.300 spiritual
00:45:14.180 and faith
00:45:14.760 based
00:45:15.100 films
00:45:15.580 in Hollywood
00:45:16.560 proper
00:45:17.060 what is it
00:45:18.760 that we
00:45:19.100 are missing
00:45:19.660 how do
00:45:21.080 you what
00:45:21.280 do you
00:45:21.440 mean by
00:45:21.860 we've
00:45:22.420 Christianity
00:45:23.100 has lost
00:45:23.700 its way
00:45:24.180 yeah
00:45:25.100 well
00:45:25.440 you know
00:45:25.820 I
00:45:26.020 I
00:45:26.240 sit and
00:45:26.960 have
00:45:27.280 for
00:45:27.700 the
00:45:28.140 better
00:45:28.300 part
00:45:28.560 of
00:45:28.680 20
00:45:29.060 years
00:45:29.360 on a
00:45:29.640 funny
00:45:29.840 fence
00:45:30.240 where
00:45:31.040 I
00:45:31.320 market
00:45:31.760 mainstream
00:45:32.700 films
00:45:33.460 and
00:45:33.800 television
00:45:34.300 to the
00:45:36.100 Christian
00:45:36.400 community
00:45:36.820 to the
00:45:37.160 faith
00:45:37.400 community
00:45:37.900 around
00:45:38.620 the
00:45:38.860 country
00:45:39.160 and
00:45:39.500 even
00:45:39.680 now
00:45:39.980 around
00:45:40.240 the
00:45:40.400 globe
00:45:40.740 but
00:45:42.120 I'm
00:45:42.340 also
00:45:42.740 a
00:45:43.180 practicing
00:45:44.040 believing
00:45:44.700 Christian
00:45:45.240 and
00:45:46.060 so
00:45:46.420 it's
00:45:46.780 an
00:45:46.920 odd
00:45:47.600 little
00:45:47.840 place
00:45:48.160 to
00:45:48.340 sit
00:45:48.620 to
00:45:48.820 sit
00:45:49.480 and
00:45:49.660 so
00:45:49.800 I
00:45:49.940 get
00:45:50.060 to see
00:45:50.600 maybe
00:45:52.000 into
00:45:52.720 both
00:45:53.720 sides
00:45:54.060 of
00:45:54.220 things
00:45:54.580 in a
00:45:55.440 way
00:45:55.640 that
00:45:55.960 somebody
00:45:56.380 just sitting
00:45:56.760 on one
00:45:57.120 side
00:45:57.300 of the
00:45:57.480 fence
00:45:57.700 doesn't
00:45:58.040 necessarily
00:45:58.560 get to
00:46:00.040 and
00:46:00.420 look
00:46:00.940 I
00:46:01.120 don't
00:46:01.740 think
00:46:02.020 I'm
00:46:02.780 saying
00:46:03.480 saying
00:46:03.500 anything
00:46:03.820 extraordinary
00:46:05.060 here
00:46:05.600 to say
00:46:06.180 that
00:46:06.500 over the
00:46:07.340 last
00:46:07.560 several
00:46:07.900 decades
00:46:08.340 we've
00:46:08.840 seen
00:46:09.480 a
00:46:10.780 real
00:46:11.300 failure
00:46:13.800 on the
00:46:14.280 part
00:46:14.540 of the
00:46:14.900 Christian
00:46:15.200 community
00:46:15.620 to
00:46:16.120 influence
00:46:17.080 culture
00:46:17.600 we've
00:46:18.080 just
00:46:18.220 seen
00:46:18.460 it
00:46:18.620 ebbing
00:46:19.040 away
00:46:19.560 kind
00:46:20.300 of
00:46:20.440 day
00:46:20.840 after
00:46:21.240 day
00:46:21.660 after
00:46:22.000 day
00:46:22.480 and
00:46:23.300 we're
00:46:23.720 to
00:46:23.860 the
00:46:24.020 place
00:46:24.280 now
00:46:24.720 where
00:46:25.900 people
00:46:27.240 can be
00:46:27.660 openly
00:46:28.140 hostile
00:46:28.680 and
00:46:29.520 are
00:46:29.840 openly
00:46:30.220 hostile
00:46:30.640 to
00:46:31.220 the
00:46:32.080 Christian
00:46:32.380 community
00:46:32.820 and
00:46:33.380 to
00:46:33.760 Christian
00:46:34.880 values
00:46:35.260 I mean
00:46:35.460 for example
00:46:35.900 Bernie Sanders
00:46:36.700 like 18
00:46:38.140 months ago
00:46:38.700 said that
00:46:39.160 Christians
00:46:39.600 shouldn't
00:46:40.280 be in a
00:46:40.860 position
00:46:41.160 of
00:46:41.800 any
00:46:42.400 kind
00:46:42.620 of
00:46:42.720 authority
00:46:43.120 in
00:46:43.340 politics
00:46:43.880 you know
00:46:45.360 it's
00:46:45.520 things like
00:46:45.920 that
00:46:46.180 that are
00:46:46.540 like
00:46:47.000 what
00:46:47.520 is
00:46:48.100 going
00:46:48.380 on
00:46:48.840 right
00:46:49.140 and
00:46:49.400 so
00:46:49.860 my
00:46:52.680 concern
00:46:53.120 is
00:46:53.360 something
00:46:53.620 as
00:46:53.840 simple
00:46:54.080 as
00:46:54.300 this
00:46:54.540 okay
00:46:54.860 is
00:46:55.460 that
00:46:55.660 there
00:46:56.040 is
00:46:56.220 a
00:46:56.400 disconnect
00:46:56.980 between
00:46:58.440 how
00:46:59.140 Christians
00:46:59.760 perceive
00:47:00.400 themselves
00:47:00.980 and
00:47:01.900 how
00:47:02.320 non-Christians
00:47:03.720 and the
00:47:04.800 world
00:47:05.100 actually
00:47:05.580 sees us
00:47:06.180 and so
00:47:06.700 a very
00:47:07.220 simple
00:47:07.740 example
00:47:09.300 of that
00:47:09.760 is the
00:47:10.120 fruits of
00:47:10.420 the
00:47:10.540 spirit
00:47:10.800 which
00:47:11.420 Christians
00:47:11.840 are supposed
00:47:12.200 to be
00:47:12.480 known for
00:47:12.940 you know
00:47:13.540 you know
00:47:13.840 the list
00:47:14.220 love
00:47:14.620 joy
00:47:14.940 peace
00:47:15.300 patience
00:47:15.640 kindness
00:47:16.020 you know
00:47:16.400 the list
00:47:16.800 tell me
00:47:18.440 which of
00:47:18.960 those words
00:47:19.560 non-Christians
00:47:20.500 use to
00:47:21.200 describe us
00:47:22.220 none
00:47:24.040 of
00:47:24.320 those
00:47:24.640 right
00:47:26.200 that's
00:47:27.000 that's a
00:47:27.620 real
00:47:27.800 problem
00:47:28.300 right
00:47:28.700 that is
00:47:29.100 a
00:47:29.340 that's
00:47:30.440 a PR
00:47:30.720 problem
00:47:31.220 you know
00:47:32.820 is
00:47:33.280 how we're
00:47:34.020 viewing
00:47:34.280 ourselves
00:47:34.720 and how
00:47:35.160 they're
00:47:35.440 viewing
00:47:35.760 us
00:47:36.120 are
00:47:36.700 just
00:47:36.980 not
00:47:37.960 okay
00:47:38.260 so
00:47:38.540 help me
00:47:39.480 out
00:47:39.700 is
00:47:40.200 this
00:47:40.440 a
00:47:40.780 you know
00:47:41.360 I know
00:47:41.580 perception
00:47:42.040 is
00:47:42.480 reality
00:47:43.000 so you
00:47:43.420 have to
00:47:43.720 deal
00:47:43.940 with
00:47:44.240 the
00:47:44.520 reality
00:47:44.900 that
00:47:45.120 you're
00:47:45.300 handed
00:47:45.600 but
00:47:46.620 is
00:47:46.900 that
00:47:47.080 perception
00:47:47.600 coming
00:47:48.260 from
00:47:48.840 is
00:47:49.040 that
00:47:49.160 because
00:47:49.640 there's
00:47:50.580 this
00:47:50.760 movement
00:47:51.160 on the
00:47:51.560 left
00:47:51.800 to
00:47:52.020 crush
00:47:52.420 Christianity
00:47:52.920 or
00:47:54.260 is
00:47:54.780 it
00:47:55.140 well
00:47:56.320 Christians
00:47:56.840 aren't
00:47:57.420 living
00:47:58.120 what they
00:47:58.840 preach
00:47:59.340 or a
00:47:59.960 combination
00:48:00.340 of both
00:48:00.820 yeah
00:48:01.500 well
00:48:01.960 as a
00:48:02.460 as a PR
00:48:03.400 and marketing
00:48:03.780 guy
00:48:04.060 and my
00:48:04.420 co-writer
00:48:04.800 Phil Cook
00:48:05.400 is also
00:48:06.080 a media
00:48:08.620 expert
00:48:09.080 he actually
00:48:09.680 works on the
00:48:10.120 Christian side
00:48:10.740 of things
00:48:11.140 I like to
00:48:11.860 say that
00:48:12.240 Phil helps
00:48:13.860 Christian television
00:48:14.680 suck less
00:48:15.440 and he's
00:48:19.980 been doing
00:48:20.280 that for
00:48:20.920 you know
00:48:21.480 the better
00:48:21.700 part of
00:48:22.060 30
00:48:22.360 years
00:48:23.120 we came
00:48:24.780 at this
00:48:25.200 you know
00:48:26.400 we've been
00:48:26.680 friends for
00:48:27.100 a long
00:48:27.340 time
00:48:27.680 and
00:48:27.900 we talk
00:48:29.000 about this
00:48:29.460 kind of
00:48:29.740 constantly
00:48:30.160 around the
00:48:30.680 fire pit
00:48:31.160 and conversation
00:48:32.040 and
00:48:33.400 you know
00:48:34.240 we come
00:48:34.560 at this
00:48:34.900 as PR
00:48:35.700 and marketing
00:48:36.080 guys
00:48:36.360 so of
00:48:36.680 course
00:48:36.840 we viewed
00:48:37.560 this
00:48:37.820 initially
00:48:38.180 as a
00:48:38.680 Christianity
00:48:39.440 has a
00:48:39.900 PR
00:48:40.160 problem
00:48:40.640 and
00:48:41.720 so
00:48:42.420 you know
00:48:43.100 every
00:48:43.460 marketing
00:48:44.580 problem
00:48:45.100 can be
00:48:45.440 solved
00:48:45.700 by better
00:48:46.100 marketing
00:48:46.460 so if
00:48:46.780 your
00:48:46.940 house
00:48:48.200 is small
00:48:48.700 don't call
00:48:49.100 it small
00:48:49.520 call it cozy
00:48:50.300 right
00:48:50.880 and so
00:48:52.100 that's how
00:48:52.720 where we
00:48:53.440 started
00:48:53.820 we started
00:48:54.380 a place
00:48:54.920 of
00:48:55.140 great
00:48:55.440 how do
00:48:55.700 we fix
00:48:56.040 this PR
00:48:56.580 problem
00:48:57.060 let's use
00:48:57.500 our expertise
00:48:58.100 to do
00:48:58.560 that
00:48:58.760 but the
00:48:59.480 more
00:48:59.800 that we
00:49:00.220 dug
00:49:00.560 into it
00:49:01.240 and the
00:49:02.600 more we
00:49:03.060 wrote the
00:49:03.440 book
00:49:03.680 it just
00:49:04.120 didn't
00:49:04.420 feel like
00:49:05.000 we were
00:49:05.420 really
00:49:05.860 capturing
00:49:07.500 what the
00:49:08.820 real
00:49:09.180 essential
00:49:09.720 problem
00:49:10.300 was
00:49:10.740 so
00:49:11.240 we
00:49:12.100 decided
00:49:12.380 to go
00:49:12.620 back
00:49:12.840 and look
00:49:13.460 at our
00:49:13.980 community
00:49:14.360 the Christian
00:49:14.840 community
00:49:15.260 and just
00:49:15.900 look at
00:49:16.220 behaviors
00:49:16.800 and where
00:49:17.960 the Christian
00:49:18.560 community
00:49:20.060 is right
00:49:20.900 now
00:49:21.320 so for
00:49:21.860 example
00:49:22.240 on the
00:49:22.980 movie side
00:49:23.480 of things
00:49:23.940 if you
00:49:25.240 do research
00:49:26.520 you ask
00:49:27.100 people
00:49:27.360 hey do you
00:49:27.740 like movies
00:49:28.400 everybody likes
00:49:29.720 movies
00:49:30.020 it's like
00:49:30.360 99% of the
00:49:31.280 country says
00:49:31.720 yes I like
00:49:32.260 movies
00:49:32.640 okay
00:49:33.060 well that's
00:49:33.940 not as
00:49:34.380 marketers
00:49:34.720 we're not
00:49:35.120 interested in
00:49:35.600 those people
00:49:36.060 we're actually
00:49:36.880 interested in
00:49:37.320 the people
00:49:37.640 who show up
00:49:38.400 and actually
00:49:39.200 go to
00:49:39.540 movies and
00:49:40.040 plunk down
00:49:40.460 their money
00:49:40.860 once a month
00:49:41.460 and go to
00:49:41.960 movies or
00:49:42.840 who are on
00:49:43.440 Netflix
00:49:43.720 so you want
00:49:44.180 people who
00:49:44.520 are actively
00:49:45.140 involved
00:49:46.020 so we went
00:49:47.280 to all of
00:49:47.900 the best
00:49:48.400 researchers
00:49:49.200 out there
00:49:49.900 Barna
00:49:50.760 Gallup
00:49:51.620 Pew
00:49:52.220 Lifeway
00:49:52.860 research
00:49:53.420 to dig
00:49:55.100 into the
00:49:56.000 actual stats
00:49:56.800 of what's
00:49:57.260 going on
00:49:57.840 in the
00:49:58.520 Christian
00:49:58.800 community
00:49:59.360 behaviorally
00:50:00.920 and I have
00:50:01.800 to say
00:50:02.020 we were
00:50:02.380 absolutely
00:50:03.040 shocked
00:50:03.720 so depending
00:50:05.040 on the
00:50:05.340 researcher
00:50:05.700 you talk
00:50:06.160 to and the
00:50:06.520 question that
00:50:06.960 gets asked
00:50:07.480 essentially
00:50:08.020 somewhere
00:50:09.180 between
00:50:09.760 70-80%
00:50:10.980 of this
00:50:11.240 country
00:50:11.620 classifies
00:50:13.260 themselves
00:50:13.800 as a
00:50:14.440 Christian
00:50:14.720 then you
00:50:16.600 start to
00:50:16.940 look at
00:50:17.400 we just
00:50:18.200 decided to
00:50:18.680 look at
00:50:19.000 basic
00:50:19.900 behaviors
00:50:20.460 where do you
00:50:21.440 spend your
00:50:21.780 time
00:50:22.080 where do you
00:50:22.380 spend your
00:50:22.760 money
00:50:23.000 and what
00:50:23.840 are the
00:50:24.060 markers
00:50:24.380 that you
00:50:24.720 would say
00:50:25.160 okay
00:50:25.520 yeah that's
00:50:26.500 definitely
00:50:26.860 what Christians
00:50:28.160 should be
00:50:29.120 they should be
00:50:29.580 going to church
00:50:30.140 right
00:50:30.580 you would
00:50:31.220 assume that
00:50:31.820 Christians
00:50:32.180 would go to
00:50:33.380 church
00:50:33.620 we looked
00:50:34.560 at prayer
00:50:35.060 we looked
00:50:35.940 at tithing
00:50:37.180 and we
00:50:37.460 looked at
00:50:37.760 Bible reading
00:50:38.340 and we
00:50:38.980 were shocked
00:50:39.480 so for
00:50:40.360 example
00:50:40.780 if 70-80%
00:50:43.060 of the country
00:50:43.500 claims to be
00:50:44.080 Christian
00:50:44.340 how many
00:50:44.760 people are
00:50:45.540 showing up
00:50:46.000 on a weekly
00:50:46.520 basis
00:50:46.960 to church
00:50:47.580 it is
00:50:48.660 20%
00:50:49.500 oh my
00:50:49.960 gosh
00:50:50.320 right
00:50:51.360 and the
00:50:52.080 new rule
00:50:52.580 of thumb
00:50:53.140 with churches
00:50:54.360 with pastors
00:50:55.080 is you are
00:50:56.360 now a
00:50:56.800 regular
00:50:57.320 at church
00:50:58.400 if you're
00:50:59.280 showing up
00:50:59.740 three out
00:51:00.580 of every
00:51:01.040 eight Sundays
00:51:01.740 or 19
00:51:02.760 whole times
00:51:03.560 a year
00:51:04.620 holy cow
00:51:05.840 that makes
00:51:06.640 you a
00:51:07.120 regular
00:51:07.800 congregate
00:51:10.520 how many
00:51:10.840 times a year
00:51:11.260 again was it
00:51:11.840 19
00:51:12.460 wow
00:51:12.860 19
00:51:13.380 that's your
00:51:14.160 regular
00:51:14.520 if you're
00:51:15.180 showing up
00:51:15.520 19
00:51:15.680 wow
00:51:16.320 that's like
00:51:17.060 my gym
00:51:17.440 attendance
00:51:18.000 exactly
00:51:19.280 and you can
00:51:19.660 see what
00:51:20.100 difference
00:51:20.520 that's making
00:51:21.140 yeah
00:51:21.500 I know
00:51:22.240 it looked
00:51:22.500 great
00:51:22.640 hey
00:51:22.840 wait a minute
00:51:23.400 wait a minute
00:51:23.760 so then we
00:51:27.000 looked at
00:51:27.540 you know
00:51:28.600 you didn't laugh
00:51:32.020 we were actually
00:51:33.000 just calling me
00:51:33.720 fat
00:51:34.020 I don't understand
00:51:34.820 what happened
00:51:35.340 hey he's a
00:51:36.440 Christian he can
00:51:37.020 get away with
00:51:37.520 that he loves
00:51:38.240 you
00:51:38.700 man I speak
00:51:40.860 truth
00:51:41.160 that's right
00:51:41.680 that's right
00:51:42.300 so then we
00:51:45.000 looked at
00:51:45.600 you know
00:51:46.280 prayer
00:51:46.620 okay and
00:51:47.380 and what we
00:51:47.840 found is
00:51:48.360 is that
00:51:48.780 63% of
00:51:50.180 Christians say
00:51:50.900 prayer is
00:51:51.520 essential which
00:51:52.100 sounds like a
00:51:52.640 great number
00:51:53.060 oh okay that's
00:51:53.860 a good number
00:51:54.380 except the
00:51:55.180 corollary to
00:51:55.740 that is 37%
00:51:57.080 of people who
00:51:58.160 go to church
00:51:58.600 don't think
00:51:59.080 prayer is
00:51:59.780 essential
00:52:00.200 Bible reading
00:52:02.160 wait wait
00:52:02.860 37%
00:52:04.780 what
00:52:05.200 37%
00:52:07.260 of Christians
00:52:07.920 who go to
00:52:08.320 church
00:52:08.620 do not think
00:52:09.640 prayer is
00:52:10.220 essential
00:52:10.600 how is that
00:52:13.540 possible
00:52:14.060 how's that
00:52:14.820 I mean
00:52:15.880 it's the
00:52:17.300 Lord's prayer
00:52:18.360 he thought it
00:52:19.040 was pretty
00:52:19.620 how is that
00:52:20.700 possible
00:52:21.300 okay
00:52:22.340 this is where
00:52:23.420 we are in the
00:52:23.900 world
00:52:24.040 so here's the
00:52:25.420 really shocker
00:52:26.640 which is
00:52:27.480 Bible reading
00:52:28.060 so
00:52:28.940 Lifeway
00:52:29.860 Researcher
00:52:30.380 these are the
00:52:30.720 Southern Baptists
00:52:31.740 so this is not
00:52:32.540 I mean
00:52:33.120 they want this
00:52:34.140 to be a good
00:52:34.600 number but
00:52:35.120 their researchers
00:52:35.740 what they found
00:52:36.420 is that
00:52:37.520 of church
00:52:38.380 attending Christians
00:52:39.240 we're talking
00:52:39.760 about that
00:52:40.560 20%
00:52:41.160 right
00:52:41.600 we're talking
00:52:42.000 about
00:52:42.340 essentially
00:52:43.460 the regulars
00:52:44.140 who show up
00:52:44.640 40%
00:52:46.120 of them
00:52:46.860 rarely or
00:52:47.940 never
00:52:48.300 open the
00:52:48.940 Bible
00:52:49.180 so
00:52:50.860 again we're
00:52:51.400 not talking
00:52:51.740 about
00:52:51.940 Christmas
00:52:52.280 and Easter
00:52:53.420 Christians
00:52:53.820 we are talking
00:52:54.840 about people
00:52:55.280 who are actually
00:52:55.820 showing up
00:52:56.260 in the pews
00:52:56.640 on a regular
00:52:57.020 basis
00:52:57.380 19 times
00:52:58.820 yeah
00:52:59.500 40%
00:53:01.260 of them
00:53:01.500 are never
00:53:02.020 they're never
00:53:02.560 cracking the
00:53:03.260 Bible
00:53:03.480 at all
00:53:04.120 okay
00:53:05.340 and then of
00:53:05.820 course
00:53:05.980 tithing
00:53:06.440 you would
00:53:07.000 assume
00:53:07.320 it's terrible
00:53:07.860 and it is
00:53:08.380 terrible
00:53:08.680 of those
00:53:09.820 10%
00:53:10.920 excuse me
00:53:11.460 of those
00:53:11.700 20%
00:53:12.200 who are
00:53:12.400 showing up
00:53:12.780 on a regular
00:53:13.180 basis
00:53:13.560 only 10%
00:53:14.880 of them
00:53:15.300 are giving
00:53:16.040 10%
00:53:16.600 so
00:53:17.760 well
00:53:18.020 at least
00:53:18.200 they're
00:53:18.320 consistent
00:53:18.740 it's a
00:53:19.120 10%
00:53:19.500 rule
00:53:19.900 there you
00:53:20.840 go
00:53:21.100 but you
00:53:21.760 look at
00:53:22.140 those numbers
00:53:22.820 right
00:53:23.460 and you
00:53:24.640 start to
00:53:25.120 realize
00:53:25.580 that oh
00:53:26.220 my gosh
00:53:26.920 all of
00:53:28.140 the things
00:53:28.580 that non-Christians
00:53:29.780 are saying
00:53:30.500 about us
00:53:31.140 that were
00:53:31.760 hypocritical
00:53:32.600 that were
00:53:33.100 negative
00:53:33.460 all those
00:53:34.100 things
00:53:34.280 that whole
00:53:34.700 list
00:53:35.080 it's true
00:53:36.320 okay
00:53:36.960 all right
00:53:37.500 so hang on
00:53:38.780 Jonathan
00:53:39.000 because I want
00:53:39.620 to we want to
00:53:40.160 continue the
00:53:40.900 continue the
00:53:42.260 conversation
00:53:42.640 so how
00:53:43.320 does that
00:53:43.760 change
00:53:44.320 change us
00:53:44.700 and then
00:53:45.780 also
00:53:46.680 what do
00:53:47.600 we do
00:53:48.260 because I
00:53:49.580 think people
00:53:50.040 feel this
00:53:50.940 they just
00:53:51.380 know
00:53:51.880 Christianity
00:53:52.740 is on the
00:53:53.460 ropes
00:53:53.680 it's declining
00:53:54.360 everywhere
00:53:55.100 and it's
00:53:56.080 on the
00:53:56.440 ropes
00:53:56.660 and it's
00:53:57.040 because
00:53:57.460 perhaps
00:53:58.120 we're not
00:53:58.560 living it
00:53:59.380 so we'll
00:54:00.220 go there
00:54:00.540 here in a
00:54:00.940 second
00:54:01.160 and how
00:54:02.300 do we
00:54:02.480 make
00:54:02.680 how's it
00:54:03.700 become
00:54:04.020 relevant
00:54:04.780 to people
00:54:05.880 I want to
00:54:08.600 talk to you
00:54:08.860 about Liberty

00:54:09.660 they make
00:54:10.740 great safes

00:54:12.540 they also
00:54:13.160 make it
00:54:13.540 really easy
00:54:14.200 to own
00:54:14.560 one
00:54:14.840 now at
00:54:15.540 Liberty

00:54:16.160 you can
00:54:16.580 buy one

00:54:17.460 great price
00:54:18.100 and receive
00:54:18.500 12 months
00:54:19.140 interest free
00:54:20.000 with zero
00:54:20.780 down
00:54:21.220 and zero
00:54:22.080 APR
00:54:22.820 they also
00:54:23.780 offer Liberty
00:54:24.500 Safes for as
00:54:25.200 low as
00:54:25.840 $20 a
00:54:26.900 month
00:54:27.240 Stu
00:54:28.600 you know
00:54:29.440 he's the
00:54:29.820 typical male
00:54:30.560 he's got a
00:54:31.660 Liberty Safe
00:54:32.380 and he fills it
00:54:33.100 with his wife's
00:54:33.700 purses
00:54:34.100 it's not been
00:54:35.700 a good half
00:54:36.100 hour for me
00:54:36.700 it hasn't
00:54:37.360 it really
00:54:37.880 hasn't
00:54:39.900 I mean you
00:54:40.380 should question
00:54:40.900 yourself on
00:54:41.520 that one
00:54:41.860 do you even
00:54:42.540 have a gun
00:54:43.320 yes I have
00:54:44.600 two
00:54:45.040 you have two
00:54:45.720 guns
00:54:45.880 yes I do
00:54:46.420 good for you
00:54:47.320 I don't need to
00:54:47.860 keep them in the
00:54:48.320 safe because I
00:54:48.720 use them for
00:54:49.080 protection
00:54:49.540 do you
00:54:50.560 yes
00:54:50.920 you should
00:54:51.320 probably
00:54:51.580 you have two
00:54:52.000 kids you
00:54:52.420 should put it
00:54:52.860 in the safe
00:54:53.260 I'm just
00:54:53.560 saying as a
00:54:54.080 safety tip
00:54:54.560 well yes
00:54:55.000 yes
00:54:55.280 probably a good
00:54:55.840 idea
00:54:56.100 so he's got
00:54:57.100 a gun
00:54:57.360 with
00:54:57.540 no of course
00:54:58.340 I've got
00:54:58.720 him
00:54:58.860 he's got
00:55:00.820 purses in
00:55:01.380 the safe
00:55:01.780 and as
00:55:02.660 bath toys
00:55:03.180 I got the
00:55:03.600 guns
00:55:03.940 so anyway
00:55:04.580 liberty safe
00:55:05.780 when you buy
00:55:07.140 a liberty safe
00:55:08.000 may I suggest
00:55:08.640 you buy a
00:55:09.180 bigger one
00:55:09.840 because you
00:55:10.420 won't believe
00:55:11.020 how fast
00:55:11.700 they fill up
00:55:12.460 have it installed
00:55:13.860 in your home

00:55:40.300 glenn back
00:55:45.900 we are
00:55:46.680 talking
00:55:47.100 to
00:55:48.060 the author
00:55:49.460 of a new
00:55:49.940 book
00:55:50.340 Jonathan
00:55:51.280 Bach
00:55:51.660 and Phil
00:55:52.360 Cook
00:55:52.620 have written
00:55:53.260 the way
00:55:53.920 back
00:55:54.280 how Christians
00:55:54.860 blew our
00:55:55.380 credibility
00:55:55.840 and how we
00:55:56.380 can get it
00:55:56.760 back
00:55:57.020 he is a
00:55:58.200 marketer
00:55:58.940 and started
00:56:00.100 looking at
00:56:00.880 the problems
00:56:01.780 of Christianity
00:56:02.340 and saying
00:56:02.620 well we just
00:56:02.960 have a marketing
00:56:03.480 problem
00:56:03.800 and he said
00:56:04.080 no after
00:56:04.800 doing research
00:56:05.520 no we actually
00:56:06.700 have some real
00:56:07.280 fundamental
00:56:07.760 problems
00:56:08.520 and you know
00:56:10.700 people are not
00:56:11.920 viewing Christians
00:56:12.700 as we view
00:56:13.380 ourselves
00:56:14.020 yeah he brought
00:56:14.800 up a list
00:56:15.340 you know
00:56:15.900 positive virtues
00:56:16.820 that you might
00:56:17.260 associate with
00:56:17.860 Christianity
00:56:18.260 to keep it
00:56:18.880 as secular
00:56:19.940 as possible
00:56:20.580 and it
00:56:22.620 was
00:56:22.980 nobody
00:56:25.160 associates any
00:56:25.940 of those words
00:56:26.420 with Christians
00:56:26.860 right
00:56:27.140 and part of
00:56:28.060 me
00:56:28.240 believes that
00:56:29.620 because there's
00:56:30.060 been a
00:56:30.800 kind of a
00:56:31.300 negative
00:56:31.860 there is
00:56:32.460 a PR
00:56:32.800 problem
00:56:33.280 I think
00:56:33.660 that is
00:56:33.940 part of
00:56:34.340 it
00:56:34.440 but also
00:56:34.900 you know
00:56:35.300 maybe we're
00:56:35.760 not living
00:56:36.180 the lives
00:56:36.680 we're supposed
00:56:37.040 to live
00:56:37.360 I'd love
00:56:37.880 to see
00:56:38.080 what people
00:56:38.700 do associate
00:56:39.740 with Christianity
00:56:41.680 so we'll get
00:56:43.340 into that
00:56:43.800 and how much
00:56:47.500 of this
00:56:47.920 is you know
00:56:49.340 he mentioned
00:56:50.220 that a lot
00:56:51.360 of the research
00:56:51.840 they did
00:56:52.260 one of the
00:56:53.360 big research
00:56:53.900 firms is
00:56:54.520 Barna
00:56:54.880 and I've
00:56:55.900 seen the
00:56:56.260 Barna
00:56:56.520 research
00:56:57.000 on Christians
00:56:57.700 there's no
00:56:58.240 difference
00:56:58.900 between Christians
00:57:00.280 and non-Christians
00:57:01.420 in divorce
00:57:03.260 pornography
00:57:04.040 you know
00:57:05.180 lying
00:57:05.820 cheating
00:57:06.200 stealing
00:57:06.640 there's no
00:57:07.060 difference
00:57:07.500 we are not
00:57:08.980 different
00:57:10.000 because of
00:57:10.560 our faith
00:57:11.060 and I think
00:57:12.020 that's why
00:57:12.480 a lot of
00:57:12.820 people say
00:57:13.520 you know
00:57:13.940 you're just
00:57:14.300 a bunch
00:57:14.520 of talk
00:57:14.860 you're just
00:57:15.120 a bunch
00:57:15.340 of hypocrites
00:57:15.960 oh you
00:57:16.660 preach
00:57:17.160 goody
00:57:17.740 goody
00:57:18.040 but there
00:57:18.740 is no
00:57:19.520 difference
00:57:20.600 in studies
00:57:22.540 done by
00:57:23.420 religious
00:57:24.340 pollsters
00:57:24.940 there's no
00:57:25.640 difference
00:57:26.080 between us
00:57:26.800 that's a
00:57:27.620 problem
00:57:27.940 so how
00:57:28.640 do we
00:57:28.840 get it
00:57:29.120 back
00:57:29.480 continue
00:57:30.320 in just
00:57:30.820 a second
00:57:31.160 the name
00:57:31.580 of the
00:57:31.720 book is
00:57:32.120 The Way
00:57:32.740 Back
00:57:33.260 Glenn
00:57:36.720 Back
00:57:37.580 Mercury
00:57:38.720 this is
00:57:46.960 the Glenn
00:57:47.260 Back
00:57:47.420 program
00:57:47.760 there is
00:57:48.240 a new
00:57:48.580 book out
00:57:49.200 it is
00:57:49.620 called
00:57:49.900 The Way
00:57:50.280 Back
00:57:50.640 How Christians
00:57:51.380 Blew Our
00:57:51.920 Credibility
00:57:52.480 and How We
00:57:53.720 Get It
00:57:54.060 Back
00:57:54.480 Jonathan Bach
00:57:55.500 is one of
00:57:55.920 the co-authors
00:57:56.780 he is with
00:57:57.380 us now
00:57:57.900 he is
00:57:58.620 in the
00:57:59.720 film
00:58:00.620 promoting
00:58:01.180 industry
00:58:02.340 he is a
00:58:02.940 Christian
00:58:03.280 and his
00:58:04.900 co-author
00:58:05.280 is a
00:58:05.600 Christian
00:58:05.820 and they
00:58:06.220 thought that
00:58:06.600 this was a
00:58:07.040 PR problem
00:58:07.780 and as they
00:58:08.680 looked into
00:58:09.240 research they
00:58:09.840 realized no
00:58:10.380 it's not a
00:58:11.400 PR problem
00:58:12.180 alone
00:58:12.900 there's a
00:58:14.520 problem in
00:58:15.720 Christianity
00:58:16.420 and he just
00:58:17.160 addressed
00:58:17.820 you know
00:58:18.560 people who
00:58:19.100 say they
00:58:19.720 go to
00:58:20.140 church
00:58:20.520 that's only
00:58:21.780 about 20%
00:58:22.660 of the
00:58:23.460 population
00:58:24.000 that says
00:58:24.740 they're
00:58:24.980 Christian
00:58:25.480 20%
00:58:26.680 of those
00:58:27.160 go to
00:58:27.560 church
00:58:27.900 on a
00:58:28.180 regular
00:58:28.400 basis
00:58:28.800 and that
00:58:29.120 means
00:58:29.380 19
00:58:30.020 times
00:58:30.600 a
00:58:30.820 year
00:58:31.160 63%
00:58:33.260 of
00:58:33.440 Christians
00:58:33.720 say
00:58:33.960 prayer
00:58:34.240 is
00:58:34.420 important
00:58:34.840 but
00:58:35.420 37%
00:58:36.580 of
00:58:36.840 Christians
00:58:37.180 say
00:58:37.540 no
00:58:37.840 it's
00:58:37.980 not
00:58:38.200 and
00:58:38.820 only
00:58:39.080 40%
00:58:40.260 or sorry
00:58:40.920 40%
00:58:41.940 of
00:58:42.260 Christians
00:58:42.660 rarely
00:58:43.500 or never
00:58:44.500 read the
00:58:45.420 Bible
00:58:45.720 and so
00:58:46.760 we went
00:58:47.080 over some
00:58:47.540 of the
00:58:47.960 positive
00:58:48.660 terms
00:58:49.220 that
00:58:49.520 are not
00:58:50.140 associated
00:58:50.600 with
00:58:50.780 Christianity
00:58:51.180 apparently
00:58:51.620 for good
00:58:52.440 reason
00:58:52.740 in some
00:58:53.160 ways
00:58:53.680 Jonathan
00:58:54.120 but what
00:58:54.700 do people
00:58:55.520 think of
00:58:56.060 when they
00:58:56.320 think of
00:58:56.680 Christians
00:58:57.060 well
00:58:58.820 I mean
00:58:59.280 we've
00:58:59.920 all heard
00:59:00.300 the list
00:59:00.800 right
00:59:01.180 we've
00:59:02.020 all heard
00:59:02.360 the terrible
00:59:04.080 adjectives
00:59:04.720 that are
00:59:04.960 used
00:59:05.180 but
00:59:05.360 what are
00:59:06.100 what we
00:59:06.560 discovered
00:59:06.980 with
00:59:07.700 when we
00:59:08.040 started
00:59:08.240 to look
00:59:08.540 in these
00:59:08.860 researches
00:59:09.540 this research
00:59:10.280 is that
00:59:11.540 you know
00:59:12.460 the fact
00:59:13.040 that Christian
00:59:13.460 is now
00:59:13.820 essentially
00:59:14.260 synonymous
00:59:15.080 with hypocrite
00:59:16.020 is not a
00:59:17.020 PR problem
00:59:17.800 what it is
00:59:18.840 is
00:59:19.240 it's a
00:59:19.760 sales force
00:59:20.360 problem
00:59:20.820 it's
00:59:21.300 it's on
00:59:21.740 us
00:59:22.120 because
00:59:23.180 we're
00:59:24.660 just not
00:59:25.140 living the
00:59:25.860 life
00:59:26.080 we have
00:59:26.360 essentially
00:59:26.840 become
00:59:27.520 the fat
00:59:28.540 guy at
00:59:29.040 the gym
00:59:29.520 who's
00:59:29.880 lecturing
00:59:30.300 other people
00:59:30.920 about good
00:59:31.380 health
00:59:31.660 and
00:59:33.600 and
00:59:34.500 so
00:59:35.200 researchers
00:59:36.180 know
00:59:36.680 that
00:59:36.960 when
00:59:37.180 conversion
00:59:37.780 happens
00:59:38.360 and it
00:59:38.720 doesn't
00:59:38.880 matter
00:59:39.020 we're not
00:59:39.280 talking
00:59:39.520 only about
00:59:40.040 religion
00:59:40.340 it can be
00:59:40.820 anything
00:59:41.160 good health
00:59:41.700 anything
00:59:42.000 it's because
00:59:42.920 you see
00:59:43.480 someone else
00:59:44.020 and you want
00:59:44.440 to be like
00:59:44.840 them
00:59:45.080 yeah
00:59:45.460 okay
00:59:45.980 so
00:59:46.720 when you
00:59:47.300 have
00:59:47.620 80%
00:59:48.340 of the
00:59:49.000 country
00:59:49.260 saying
00:59:49.700 they're
00:59:50.020 a
00:59:50.120 Christian
00:59:50.320 but only
00:59:50.660 20%
00:59:51.180 showing up
00:59:51.960 you know
00:59:53.460 you look at
00:59:54.220 that and say
00:59:54.580 who wants to be
00:59:55.300 part of that
00:59:55.740 group
00:59:56.020 who wants to be
00:59:57.060 part of that
00:59:57.600 it's a little
00:59:58.820 bit like if you
00:59:59.460 went to
01:00:00.080 for a meeting
01:00:01.100 at Coca-Cola
01:00:01.780 and three quarters
01:00:02.500 of the people
01:00:02.940 around the table
01:00:03.520 are drinking
01:00:03.980 Pepsi
01:00:04.360 like what would
01:00:05.140 you think
01:00:05.420 about it
01:00:05.800 right
01:00:06.080 I will tell
01:00:07.140 you that I
01:00:07.560 I have a problem
01:00:08.420 even my own
01:00:09.040 church but
01:00:09.480 but all churches
01:00:10.180 they you know
01:00:10.700 they talk an awful
01:00:11.320 lot about you
01:00:11.920 know baptisms
01:00:13.120 and you know
01:00:13.740 getting people
01:00:14.260 in the faith
01:00:14.880 and and
01:00:15.800 I just keep
01:00:17.160 I get it
01:00:18.140 drives me nuts
01:00:19.160 because I
01:00:19.600 I just feel
01:00:20.540 like yeah
01:00:20.920 okay that's
01:00:21.420 important but
01:00:22.000 love people
01:00:23.560 love people
01:00:24.760 and they will
01:00:25.460 just come
01:00:26.120 themselves
01:00:26.600 Jesus didn't
01:00:27.440 have to say
01:00:27.860 get into the
01:00:28.380 water get
01:00:28.840 into the water
01:00:29.440 he loved
01:00:30.800 people and
01:00:31.620 that's what
01:00:32.140 turned their
01:00:32.800 life they
01:00:33.940 saw it and
01:00:34.560 wanted they
01:00:35.420 wanted that
01:00:36.120 fruit and
01:00:37.220 I don't know
01:00:37.540 what our
01:00:37.800 fruit is
01:00:38.460 anymore
01:00:39.000 exactly
01:00:40.580 exactly and
01:00:41.420 so we
01:00:41.880 we looked
01:00:42.340 at this
01:00:42.740 and said
01:00:43.540 okay well
01:00:44.020 here's the
01:00:44.420 symptoms
01:00:44.880 right but
01:00:45.420 what's the
01:00:45.740 real cause
01:00:46.180 of this
01:00:46.500 and it
01:00:48.280 really also
01:00:49.160 shocked us
01:00:49.740 is essentially
01:00:50.360 what we
01:00:50.920 determined
01:00:51.540 is that
01:00:53.180 when you
01:00:53.700 know when
01:00:53.940 you when
01:00:54.580 you talk
01:00:54.940 about idol
01:00:55.800 worship
01:00:56.200 that that
01:00:57.460 sounds like
01:00:58.200 an Israelite
01:00:59.000 problem
01:00:59.420 a long
01:01:01.140 time ago
01:01:01.680 kind of
01:01:02.040 problem
01:01:02.360 oh those
01:01:02.820 silly
01:01:03.120 Israelites
01:01:03.620 the second
01:01:04.220 you know
01:01:05.000 Moses is
01:01:05.500 away they're
01:01:06.000 making a
01:01:06.420 golden calf
01:01:06.900 we don't
01:01:07.580 do that
01:01:07.880 if our
01:01:08.120 pastor goes
01:01:08.600 on vacation
01:01:09.160 we don't
01:01:10.060 make a
01:01:10.380 golden calf
01:01:10.940 speak for
01:01:13.240 your church
01:01:13.920 should have
01:01:14.720 seen what
01:01:14.980 happened to
01:01:15.280 our church
01:01:15.560 last week
01:01:16.220 but what
01:01:19.220 we feel is
01:01:20.000 is that
01:01:20.520 a lot of
01:01:22.540 Christians out
01:01:23.240 there a lot
01:01:23.540 of people
01:01:23.760 calling themselves
01:01:24.540 Christians are
01:01:25.600 actually the
01:01:26.160 most sophisticated
01:01:27.200 idol makers in
01:01:28.520 the history of
01:01:29.220 humanity
01:01:29.680 because
01:01:30.400 essentially what
01:01:31.360 they've done
01:01:31.860 is they've
01:01:32.740 created a
01:01:33.920 God that
01:01:34.760 looks like
01:01:35.320 God that
01:01:35.940 has the
01:01:36.240 veneer of
01:01:36.720 God but
01:01:37.500 it's a God
01:01:38.000 who doesn't
01:01:39.080 mind that I'm
01:01:39.680 only going to
01:01:40.100 church 19
01:01:40.640 times a year
01:01:41.400 and fine with
01:01:42.160 me not
01:01:42.500 tithing or
01:01:43.060 reading the
01:01:43.400 Bible
01:01:43.780 you know
01:01:45.180 is cool
01:01:46.960 with us
01:01:47.420 divorcing as
01:01:48.180 you brought up
01:01:48.720 divorcing at
01:01:49.320 this exact same
01:01:50.380 rate as
01:01:51.220 everybody else
01:01:51.900 who demands
01:01:52.460 no obedience
01:01:53.220 from us all
01:01:54.600 and it's
01:01:55.020 essentially we
01:01:56.300 have created
01:01:56.980 a God
01:01:59.160 who conforms
01:02:01.420 to our view
01:02:02.080 of the world
01:02:02.660 as opposed to
01:02:03.600 the other way
01:02:04.060 around that's
01:02:04.580 idol worship
01:02:05.040 and I think
01:02:06.360 that's what's
01:02:06.860 going on here
01:02:07.600 and what you
01:02:08.340 realize is that
01:02:09.260 the greatest
01:02:09.700 threat facing
01:02:11.180 American
01:02:11.760 Christianity in
01:02:12.600 2018 is not
01:02:14.080 radical Islam
01:02:14.860 or the rise of
01:02:15.600 secularism or
01:02:16.420 prayer in schools
01:02:17.080 or gay marriage
01:02:17.740 or the whole list
01:02:18.380 the greatest threat
01:02:19.460 to American
01:02:19.900 Christianity in
01:02:21.040 2018 is
01:02:22.060 American Christians
01:02:22.840 that's a
01:02:25.440 powerful statement
01:02:26.060 I will tell you
01:02:26.840 this I had to
01:02:27.720 write something
01:02:28.300 this week
01:02:30.420 this last weekend
01:02:31.940 for church
01:02:33.080 and so I was
01:02:34.060 doing some
01:02:34.420 study on
01:02:35.340 unconditional love
01:02:38.420 and how God's
01:02:40.180 love is
01:02:40.540 unconditional
01:02:40.960 and started
01:02:42.400 doing some
01:02:42.800 research and
01:02:43.380 found that
01:02:44.340 was not part
01:02:45.880 of the Christian
01:02:46.820 vernacular
01:02:47.400 until the 1960s
01:02:49.080 God's love is
01:02:50.460 not unconditional
01:02:51.920 he has divine
01:02:53.160 love he loves
01:02:54.340 all of us no
01:02:55.020 matter what
01:02:55.720 we've done
01:02:56.520 but it is
01:02:58.120 also conditional
01:02:59.800 you you know
01:03:00.720 all of his
01:03:01.620 promises are if
01:03:02.800 you do these
01:03:03.400 things then I
01:03:04.660 will promise you
01:03:05.340 these things
01:03:06.140 that is the very
01:03:07.240 definition and
01:03:08.400 it was put in
01:03:09.200 there you know
01:03:09.940 the unconditional
01:03:10.700 love really kind
01:03:11.580 of entered our
01:03:12.360 vernacular because
01:03:13.780 it was you know
01:03:15.580 hey you can just
01:03:16.340 be a good person
01:03:17.020 you can just you
01:03:18.040 can just you can
01:03:19.000 do sleep with
01:03:20.060 people and
01:03:20.720 whatever and God
01:03:21.700 doesn't matter
01:03:22.240 it does matter
01:03:23.240 it does matter
01:03:24.080 yeah well you
01:03:26.380 know and as you
01:03:27.040 read the stories
01:03:27.980 of Jesus you
01:03:30.040 know he he's
01:03:30.940 got all the time
01:03:31.640 in the world and
01:03:32.840 all the love in
01:03:33.360 the world for
01:03:34.140 murderers and
01:03:36.480 prostitutes and
01:03:37.380 lepers and you
01:03:38.320 know the list goes
01:03:38.920 on and on and on
01:03:39.600 the folks he can't
01:03:40.860 stand are the
01:03:42.540 hypocrites
01:03:42.780 the complacent
01:03:43.660 the hypocrites
01:03:44.640 yeah
01:03:45.180 he has no
01:03:47.860 patience for them
01:03:49.040 none
01:03:49.700 so what is the
01:03:53.560 way back
01:03:54.080 yeah well so we
01:03:56.760 had to that's one
01:03:58.080 of the things that
01:03:58.600 we did is we
01:03:59.260 said all right well
01:03:59.820 how do we how do
01:04:01.340 we fix this right
01:04:02.240 because a lot of
01:04:02.860 people have accused
01:04:03.480 us of having the
01:04:04.380 spiritual gift of
01:04:05.160 discouragement
01:04:05.780 uh and so
01:04:07.580 what do we do
01:04:10.780 about this and how
01:04:11.620 do we fix it so
01:04:12.600 you know what we
01:04:13.460 decided to do is
01:04:14.220 just go back and
01:04:15.240 say all right well
01:04:16.040 how did the early
01:04:17.560 church do this right
01:04:19.100 i mean essentially
01:04:20.140 when uh on the
01:04:21.260 mount of olives when
01:04:22.100 when jesus disappeared
01:04:23.260 into the sky you
01:04:24.320 know the disciples
01:04:24.960 were standing there
01:04:25.700 and as they're
01:04:26.160 standing there they
01:04:27.400 have nothing okay
01:04:28.740 they have no
01:04:29.640 political power they
01:04:31.060 have no money they
01:04:32.700 have no influence
01:04:33.760 they have essentially
01:04:35.120 no education they
01:04:36.660 have no plan as
01:04:37.920 matter of fact two
01:04:38.980 angels had to show
01:04:39.840 up and say come on
01:04:41.060 fellas let's get to
01:04:42.100 it you know it's time
01:04:43.000 to go so they had
01:04:44.600 nothing so how did
01:04:45.700 they go from you
01:04:47.240 know being a back
01:04:49.140 water um uh cult
01:04:51.320 uh you know in the
01:04:52.860 far reaches of the
01:04:53.760 roman empire to 200
01:04:54.920 years later christianity
01:04:56.960 being one of the
01:04:57.620 most influential
01:04:58.160 forces in all of the
01:04:59.460 western world how
01:05:00.460 did that happen how
01:05:01.320 did they go from
01:05:01.780 nothing to that in
01:05:03.320 in a you know
01:05:04.140 relatively short
01:05:05.540 period of time and
01:05:07.900 it's it's really two
01:05:09.260 things that what we
01:05:10.420 came up with first is
01:05:11.680 they were all in i
01:05:13.140 mean these guys were
01:05:14.340 a hundred percent
01:05:15.820 committed yeah um
01:05:17.480 they they were they
01:05:18.600 were in it for sure
01:05:19.980 and uh that's the
01:05:21.900 first thing and the
01:05:22.560 second thing is that
01:05:23.840 they went about a
01:05:25.440 process of deciding
01:05:26.920 intentionally to
01:05:27.820 astonish roman
01:05:28.760 culture roman
01:05:30.280 culture let me give
01:05:30.820 you an example of
01:05:31.400 it roman culture was
01:05:32.900 a a culture of death
01:05:34.640 really i mean
01:05:35.520 militarism was very
01:05:36.900 strong infanticide was
01:05:39.260 a huge problem in in
01:05:41.440 the early church i mean
01:05:42.820 excuse me i'm in
01:05:44.080 early roman culture
01:05:45.080 right they would if
01:05:46.960 you did they didn't
01:05:47.580 really name their
01:05:48.420 children for 10 days
01:05:51.000 after they were born
01:05:51.820 because they were still
01:05:52.400 deciding whether they
01:05:53.100 wanted to keep this or
01:05:53.880 not if it was a girl or
01:05:55.160 too many mouths to feed
01:05:56.500 um they would just
01:05:58.080 expose the child they
01:05:59.540 would just leave it by
01:06:00.200 the side of the road or
01:06:01.180 out in the trash or put
01:06:02.280 it in a field they put
01:06:03.220 it in garbage literally in
01:06:04.600 garbage barges yep just
01:06:06.860 garbage it was a piece of
01:06:08.080 garbage and so the early
01:06:10.020 church who believed in
01:06:11.060 life and believed in uh
01:06:12.680 that everyone was
01:06:13.420 sacred started picking up
01:06:15.000 these children and
01:06:16.120 raising them as their
01:06:17.360 own and the idea that
01:06:19.900 so astonished uh the
01:06:23.020 roman culture they
01:06:23.920 didn't know what to do
01:06:24.540 with it who are these
01:06:25.140 people and what are they
01:06:26.260 doing and how are they
01:06:28.340 doing it and so we
01:06:29.860 looked at that and said
01:06:30.520 all right well what are
01:06:31.220 the ways that we can
01:06:33.220 astonish culture again and
01:06:35.680 if you go back again to
01:06:36.960 the early church think
01:06:38.860 of the things that they
01:06:39.580 created hospitals and
01:06:41.520 orphanages and
01:06:42.900 universities and i mean
01:06:44.840 the list goes on and
01:06:46.020 on of things that were
01:06:47.120 so extraordinary that
01:06:49.280 culture decided hey we
01:06:50.520 need one of those we
01:06:51.600 want to be part of this
01:06:52.520 and so what are the
01:06:53.840 things i don't think a
01:06:54.520 hospital or soup kitchen
01:06:55.560 today is going to
01:06:56.340 really know another one
01:06:57.500 of those is going to
01:06:58.100 astonish uh culture but
01:06:59.980 what are the things that
01:07:00.900 we can do as a christian
01:07:02.880 community uh both
01:07:04.560 individually and
01:07:05.900 corporately that can
01:07:07.000 astonish culture once
01:07:08.360 again so as an example
01:07:09.980 we but we have a bunch
01:07:10.840 of examples in the book
01:07:11.980 of those kinds of things
01:07:12.960 that we can do and i'll
01:07:14.480 give you an example of
01:07:15.220 one uh the foster care
01:07:17.020 system is a disaster in
01:07:20.380 this country 450 000 kids
01:07:23.680 living in the foster care
01:07:25.500 system essentially
01:07:26.480 abandoned they're
01:07:27.720 abandoned children that's
01:07:29.080 what it comes down to and
01:07:30.740 we can look at that and
01:07:31.640 go oh my gosh that's that's
01:07:33.700 an unbelievably huge
01:07:34.980 number what could i do
01:07:36.120 where i'm sitting well
01:07:37.900 there's actually a lot you
01:07:38.720 can do um 450 000 doesn't
01:07:41.680 sound so terrible when you
01:07:42.680 realize there's 350 000
01:07:44.180 churches in this country so
01:07:46.160 if one family in one church
01:07:49.300 in every single church in
01:07:50.520 the country took in a
01:07:52.340 foster care to an orphaned
01:07:53.940 child into their family and
01:07:55.300 everybody else in that
01:07:56.220 church supported them we
01:07:57.740 could wipe out the foster
01:07:59.840 care system in this country
01:08:01.300 in a year just like that
01:08:02.900 that's the kind of thing
01:08:04.220 that would astonish people
01:08:05.760 and go well who does that
01:08:07.040 how did this happen that's
01:08:08.780 unbelievable because
01:08:09.540 everybody knows this is a
01:08:10.760 tremendous societal problem
01:08:13.620 right now foster kids have a
01:08:16.080 one percent graduation rate
01:08:17.900 from college wow within one
01:08:20.660 year 25 percent of them will
01:08:23.260 be homeless when they're
01:08:24.580 finally emancipated 75 percent
01:08:27.920 of girls who go through the
01:08:29.480 foster care system are
01:08:30.600 pregnant by 21 75 percent
01:08:34.020 wow 75 percent so if we want
01:08:36.060 to do something about it we
01:08:37.580 need to this is the kind of
01:08:39.200 ways that we can astonish
01:08:40.200 culture is by working
01:08:42.140 together but we have to be
01:08:44.080 committed that's amazing now
01:08:45.540 we're like i can't believe
01:08:46.680 chick-fil-a is closed on
01:08:47.820 sunday jeez what are they
01:08:48.920 doing like these basic steps
01:08:51.200 now mesmerize us and you know
01:08:53.580 that's not even close to what
01:08:54.940 the plan was do you talk
01:08:56.660 you know what's especially
01:08:57.840 amazing about chick-fil-a is
01:08:59.180 that they make more money
01:09:00.120 than yeah being open six
01:09:01.740 days a week it works most
01:09:03.360 other change yeah yeah so
01:09:05.360 uh jonathan what about the
01:09:07.640 the instead of the grand plan
01:09:10.860 which i love i love that about
01:09:12.540 you know uh you know the
01:09:14.440 foster care idea too many of us
01:09:17.880 are just not doing it i mean
01:09:20.500 we're just not living it we're
01:09:21.820 not we're no different than the
01:09:23.800 rest of society yes so i mean
01:09:28.300 how much of a role do we as
01:09:30.180 individuals play because if our
01:09:32.920 churches can say hey we're going
01:09:34.200 to do this but unless we unless we
01:09:37.240 reduce our divorce rate uh you know
01:09:40.080 our pornography usage our drug
01:09:42.840 usage our lying our cheating our
01:09:45.240 whatever unless we start to move
01:09:48.060 those numbers we're not a unique or
01:09:50.480 peculiar people at all no right and
01:09:53.300 and and it's going to start with
01:09:54.660 ourselves right uh because we have
01:09:57.980 to look at ourselves and and decide
01:09:59.740 um what do i want to be right do i
01:10:02.040 want to be this complacent person or do
01:10:03.900 i want to be an essentially a navy
01:10:05.720 seal for the lord right like all in
01:10:08.060 right and then with the church you go
01:10:10.440 to is important i mean look is is
01:10:11.920 your church uh pushing you hard like a
01:10:14.900 trainer for your soul into like a
01:10:17.080 deeper and more profound relationship
01:10:18.760 with jesus or is it like a rose
01:10:21.320 scented convalescent hospital which
01:10:23.100 is keeping you warm dry and
01:10:25.220 comfortable right what's your faith
01:10:27.700 is your is your faith and active all
01:10:29.720 in uh faith or is it a 401k faith
01:10:32.800 where you're just putting a little
01:10:33.720 bit away uh and hoping you have
01:10:35.680 enough for the very end so great
01:10:37.420 jonathan bach thank you the name of
01:10:39.540 the book is the way back how christians
01:10:41.880 blew our credibility and how we get it
01:10:43.760 back thanks jonathan thank you
01:10:46.220 yeah i would tell you the book has a
01:10:52.220 command a companion devotional um on
01:10:55.900 you version it is hit uh 800 000

01:12:48.660 hey um i saw a great movie on monday night
01:13:03.420 watched it with my kids uh i have a hard
01:13:06.760 time uh getting the kids to agree on
01:13:09.800 movies rafe is you know he likes action
01:13:12.700 adventure cheyenne is a sweet tender
01:13:15.020 little heart um and you know anything scary
01:13:18.120 you know cloudy with a chance of meatballs i
01:13:21.820 mean there's a chance that meatballs will i
01:13:24.120 mean she gets you know she's a very sensitive
01:13:26.100 sweet sweet spirit um uh and so i uh it's
01:13:31.120 always a challenge to get them to sit and
01:13:32.720 watch any movie we watched i can only imagine
01:13:35.380 and it's coming out in theaters in a couple
01:13:37.240 of weeks it is really good it's with dennis
01:13:41.260 quaid it's based on a true story uh about a
01:13:45.100 guy who has a pretty rough childhood dennis
01:13:49.520 quaid plays a character that you're not
01:13:51.500 gonna like um at all uh at least through most
01:13:56.400 of the movie and um and it's it's how this
01:14:00.100 guy uh wrote now one of the it's a it's a
01:14:04.820 triple platinum album a song and it was about
01:14:08.180 his father he tried to go out and become
01:14:10.540 successful and he was just lying to himself
01:14:13.520 his father gets cancer and they reunite and
01:14:17.980 he finds himself and finds peace uh and it's
01:14:21.860 just a great great story really well done go
01:14:25.640 out and see it it opens up next week it's
01:14:28.000 called i can only imagine everyone in the
01:14:31.140 family loved it i can only imagine opens in
01:14:34.720 theaters next week glenn back mercury
01:14:42.180 love courage truth glenn back president
01:14:54.520 trump said um that he likes conflict uh he
01:14:58.500 likes to watch it uh but the white house is
01:15:01.040 not in conflict today and that's probably pretty
01:15:04.640 true gary cohen president trump's top
01:15:07.500 economic advisor announced yesterday he's
01:15:10.160 going to resign cohen who is a former
01:15:13.080 president of goldman sachs uh has been on the
01:15:16.400 losing end of the white house debate over
01:15:18.280 trump's controversial steel and aluminum
01:15:20.260 tariffs which the president announced last
01:15:22.420 week the president said uh trade wars are easy
01:15:25.400 to win they're actually historically not and
01:15:29.140 they can be extraordinarily damaging that was
01:15:32.900 gary cohen's uh position but the white house
01:15:35.480 said there's no single reason for cohen's
01:15:37.680 decision uh but it it does come on the heels
01:15:41.480 about the tariff talk yesterday the president
01:15:43.900 called cohen a rare talent he said that cohen
01:15:46.500 did a superb job in driving our agenda helping
01:15:49.140 to deliver historic tax cuts and reforms and
01:15:52.340 unleashing the american economy once again it has
01:15:56.300 been a better white house because of cohen the
01:15:59.020 white house also said that that cohen is departing
01:16:01.920 on positive terms with the president and they will
01:16:04.500 continue policy discussions even after he leaves
01:16:07.280 i wouldn't bet on that because uh trump i think is
01:16:13.720 showing cohen the door cohen is a democrat who is a
01:16:17.540 free trade advocate who was head of the president's
01:16:21.260 economic uh council now what trump seems to be
01:16:25.140 doing is doubling down on his what is now an unpopular
01:16:29.300 decision to slap tariffs on the steel and aluminum uh industry
01:16:34.140 around the world maybe cohen just got tired of fighting the
01:16:38.880 battle here's the thing tomorrow the president is going to
01:16:42.860 sign a presidential proclamation i don't like decrees that
01:16:47.880 come from the president but the president is able to issue this
01:16:51.760 uh extensive policy by decree because he has taken the extra
01:16:58.040 step in saying these tariffs really this is a national security
01:17:02.560 threat that we don't have uh the the capacity to really make
01:17:07.840 steel or aluminum in this country out of all of the steel that is
01:17:12.420 used in this country to build things i don't know how it could be a
01:17:17.060 national security uh you know or or a or a security threat to us
01:17:22.600 when the amount of steel that is used in america
01:17:27.240 74 of it is american steel critics now are fretting about his
01:17:34.220 departure people who are who believe in free trade are concerned
01:17:38.120 there's not going to be a gatekeeper like cohen now who managed to keep the
01:17:41.560 president's nationalist economic tendencies at bay
01:17:44.940 last summer cohen reportedly brought a block the effort by peter navarro a
01:17:49.880 trump trade advisor to withdraw from nafta who's going to watch that gate
01:17:55.080 now and with steve mnuchin and john kelly
01:17:58.540 cohen was firmly in the camp that felt abandoning trade deals and imposing
01:18:02.920 tariffs would harm u.s businesses our economy and
01:18:06.500 foreign relations now there is no free trade advocate
01:18:10.360 really or at least one less staunch defend offender in the white house so
01:18:16.860 who is going to replace cohen that is an important question
01:18:23.300 the white house isn't worried the white house press conference yesterday the
01:18:27.900 president said everybody wants to work at the
01:18:30.460 white house so many people want to come in
01:18:32.760 i literally have the choice of anybody
01:18:36.100 it's wednesday march 7th you're listening to the glenn beck program
01:18:45.700 sorry i didn't say cohen you're thinking michael cohen the lawyer no i'm thinking like i'm thinking
01:18:51.400 my grandson cohen but anyway uh cohen uh so let's uh
01:18:57.400 you know the one thing that trump did say that he likes you know he likes conflict
01:19:03.760 you know if i take that in uh the way that i hope he means it
01:19:09.740 um he likes to have different voices around him he likes to have people disagree around him
01:19:15.700 team of rivals right yeah yeah and i and i like that however that's not really where america is headed
01:19:21.620 do you have it do you happen to have that quote that we were kicking around yesterday or can you
01:19:27.160 paraphrase that quote off the top of your head uh i can find it here in a minute real quick it's
01:19:31.400 it's an amazing thing americans you know we used to say that we're not going to we're never
01:19:37.260 going to be politically correct we're just not going to be politically correct well what is
01:19:43.580 politically correct right now is to agree with your side in lockstep to not listen to any other
01:19:52.160 point of view or talk to anybody to deem the other side an enemy that's dangerous political
01:19:59.460 correctness now remember political correctness came from the communist rule that if you if you
01:20:06.540 were speaking out of line with the party you would go to a camp and they would make you politically
01:20:11.480 correct and if you didn't conform you were in a gulag listen to this quote i have no house
01:20:19.220 wife children parents or brothers my friends are friends as long as they think like me politically
01:20:26.040 who said that che Guevara just uh good guy a mass murderer you know sure but he's on a lot of t-shirts
01:20:36.400 maybe he's in a t-shirt and one of your uh teenage relatives closet right now i have no friends
01:20:44.940 unless they think like me politically look at what's happening on our college campuses
01:20:51.620 that is what's happening that's what's happening on facebook that's what's happening i won't i won't
01:21:00.220 listen i won't read it i won't befriend i won't i will not reach out unless they think like me
01:21:08.420 that's trouble for any society for any society let alone an american society because that's not who
01:21:15.860 we are and when you're challenged when you're pushed that's that's when you learn things that's when you
01:21:21.900 expand it's it's not one side you know it's you know it's really amazing is um if you look at the
01:21:30.220 two sides the the left i hate to use the word left uh i don't want to use left or right um let's use
01:21:40.820 uh liberal and conservative and i mean actual liberal and conservative okay um the liberal side that says
01:21:52.860 hey let's you know let everybody be themselves okay let everybody just let's let's let's just dream
01:21:59.840 and let's be and let's create and and uh and let's just go out there and explore okay that's all good
01:22:08.320 sort of how liberals view themselves right yeah yeah and i think i think a classic liberal does think that
01:22:15.200 way well classical liberal really is closer to libertarian right yes so totally freedom you know
01:22:20.280 total freedom you go do whatever you want so the people who are like that are the poets and the
01:22:26.160 artists and and the dreamers okay that is a mindset now a political side has said you can't be creative
01:22:36.400 you can't be this person unless you believe these things politically that goes against everything
01:22:44.960 that a free thinker and an artist now don't put me in a box i have no box okay conservatives are the
01:22:53.440 ones who say wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute let's not throw the baby out with the bath
01:22:56.960 water let let hang on there's a lot of really good things okay let's slow down just a little bit let's
01:23:03.180 let's move forward but let's not lose what we've what we've gained a conservative investor is somebody
01:23:11.940 who says look i'll take a risk but i want to make sure that i'm not losing everything on this risk
01:23:17.960 i've worked hard for this okay those two things are necessary if you only have the dreamers
01:23:27.180 and you don't have those people who are fiscally conservative nothing happens nothing happens
01:23:34.200 you see what happens in marriages when you have two people who are just dreamers you know you know
01:23:39.440 correct yeah and so those work out what we're doing is we're saying i don't need the dreamers i don't
01:23:45.600 need the artists i don't need the poets and the other side is saying i don't need anybody who has any
01:23:52.980 kind of traditional value i don't need anybody who believes the things that have been believed
01:23:58.680 uh for 5 000 years i don't need you believe in the traditional family you believe in you know the
01:24:07.140 constitution you believe in those things we don't need you you're not part of it
01:24:12.720 we can't survive that way we need both sides we have we need each other and what we're doing right
01:24:23.560 now is we're saying oh no my side will make it work i don't want to live in a uh country
01:24:31.420 i just let me i don't want to live in a country that it's it's art is all red white and blue and
01:24:41.920 eagles you know what i mean sure and i don't want to live in a world where it's art is all crucifixes
01:24:50.080 and urine you know there's there's you like having both right i don't want to live in a world where
01:24:56.080 we have we have no money because we've taken it from everybody and now we're all equally miserable
01:25:04.040 i don't want to live in that but i also don't want to live in a world that is is so conservative
01:25:09.700 with its money that it it never spends anything and so it never grows never does anything good
01:25:16.100 never it doesn't have any compassion because it's worried about its money
01:25:20.800 that's the stereotypical definition of conservative and liberal and we need each other to balance each
01:25:30.460 other out and i think that's how you grow too it is you talk to someone who has a it's not always like
01:25:37.400 you know you're hey i want to go talk to michael moore because he's going to convince me about how
01:25:41.180 great you know communism is like obviously that's a different story but how can you i can think of
01:25:46.660 examples in my life in my life where i have changed because i considered the other side
01:25:54.160 seriously i'll give you one second amendment of course i grew up in connecticut there was like i
01:26:00.700 think there's one gun in the state basically and now recently only over the past few years has gun
01:26:06.260 violence ever really been associated with connecticut it's not a it's not a it's not one of those rural
01:26:11.080 states it's you know it's right outside of new york city it's between new york city and boston
01:26:15.000 right and i'm not i was never against the second amendment or gun ownership or anything like
01:26:20.880 that but i absolutely could have been sold on banning assault weapons or common sense gun measures
01:26:29.660 or all the things that thrown around and you see them polled by 80 and 90 percent of people go along
01:26:34.820 with them because they just don't know the facts about them and over time because i listened to people
01:26:41.920 who actually did grow up in gun culture and people who actually did look at the constitution
01:26:47.300 and a lot of that was just getting older and and and studying more and learning more but it was a lot
01:26:53.460 of it was understanding something that was really foreign to me as a kid i didn't grow up in that
01:26:58.040 culture at all my dad was in the military but that was about it you know we didn't have guns in the
01:27:02.460 house i didn't really know many people who had guns in their houses and it took a time time of
01:27:08.580 talking to a lot of people who had thought about these things and had a different perspective on
01:27:14.360 them came at them from a different perspective and then you add in you know the constitutional
01:27:18.900 arguments and the statistics about you know whether guns actually commit these crimes or if they're
01:27:24.000 actually people and and all of the additional layers you put on top of that but i don't think i
01:27:29.060 would have i think i easily could have settled into a life where i just believe you know what of
01:27:34.460 course guns yeah you can have them but you no one needs an assault rifle no one needs those you
01:27:40.660 don't need those things to hunt culturally i absolutely could have fallen into those arguments
01:27:45.940 but i didn't because i i tried to understand both sides of the issue and then make a decision about them
01:27:52.540 talking to people who were outside of my little group helped me understand the second amendment
01:27:57.740 so you know who i i why i began to search for god carl sagan steven hawking they were so convinced god
01:28:10.020 doesn't exist and i thought i've never considered that point of view i just never i've never been
01:28:15.420 around anybody like that i have a relationship with god because through books i became friends with
01:28:23.080 carl sagan and steven hawking and i seriously considered what they had to say and it made me
01:28:30.420 search deeper and go wait a minute wait a minute maybe they're right i mean i've just been told about
01:28:35.960 this i have been a ever since you've known me i have been a defender of gay marriage have i not
01:28:43.700 yeah yeah i mean in a in a different way i think than the normal debate has been yeah my debate is my
01:28:50.180 my feeling is people are people let them be the government has no place there no place in marriage
01:28:55.940 no place in marriage okay you can believe whatever you want he has no place in marriage you know how
01:29:00.620 i was raised i was raised by a father who i didn't i didn't understand this until close to his death
01:29:07.180 when he was 16 was raped by a man and uh my father was open-minded on almost everything
01:29:16.000 not homosexuality not homosexuality and we could never understand it and we talked about it as a
01:29:24.760 family and he would never address it never homosexuality is wrong and it's this and it's
01:29:31.380 that and my dad was not a bible thumper and it made no sense because he was so open-minded on
01:29:36.700 everything well i didn't just pick that up i i i know homosexuals i work with homosexuals i i'm not
01:29:47.540 afraid of homosexuals i don't that was irrational they're not all that scary they're not all that
01:29:52.520 scary uh in fact they're quite helpful um so uh i didn't i didn't just take that and i could have
01:30:01.620 taken that because my father was very clear on it but he was because he was open-minded on other
01:30:07.600 things thank god i escaped the closed-mindedness of that part and became open-minded and have a
01:30:17.120 different opinion by a great deal than my father did um and had for a long time had a different point
01:30:25.220 of view than most conservatives to certainly anybody who is religious it's because i talk to people
01:30:31.400 and it doesn't mean um anything other than
01:30:36.800 i want to be uncomfortable the scariest thing in my life came from the the quote from thomas
01:30:47.460 jefferson question with boldness even the very existence of god and i wasn't questioning god
01:30:52.900 i was questioning my childhood i was questioning the things that happened in my childhood the things
01:30:59.780 that were the deepest darkest secrets of my childhood that's what that quote did there's nothing more
01:31:09.180 frightening than really facing what's in you or the void that you think is in you that's hard
01:31:17.560 but that changed me fundamentally and we have to have those conversations and those challenging
01:31:25.340 conversations and meet those people who will push us up against the wall because they're intellectually
01:31:30.640 honest not because they have a different point of view but because they're intellectually honest and
01:31:36.720 they're making us ask hard questions about what we believe that's to me what it means to be an american
01:31:43.660 that is going to move the country forward
01:31:46.560 all right it we're approaching springtime and if you want your home sold on time and sorry minneapolis

01:33:16.380 real estate agents i trust.com glenn back mercury glenn back so i saw a local letter to the editor
01:33:31.800 it said something different is happening i was recently told by a friend that our local paper
01:33:36.860 is a conservative paper and i felt once in a while letters to the editor were written by conservative
01:33:41.460 thinkers there seems to be a change of late i'm not sure if there's a change in the paper's role or if
01:33:47.340 thinkers on the other side are stepping up to the plate but both political parties seem so lost to
01:33:52.020 their elected purpose of working for the people they're overly focused on getting re-elected and not
01:33:57.460 going against their big money supporters last sunday i was watching glenn beck interviewed on cnn's
01:34:02.800 reliable sources and to my surprise he held my attention when he spoke of martin luther king's call
01:34:07.220 for records reconciliation he said both sides are just trying to win we have to listen to one another
01:34:15.320 uh this uh person writes in uh if we're going to continue to have a viable two-party system
01:34:22.200 we have to know what each party stands for and what they believe and in my mind beck makes some
01:34:28.400 very important points i'm now reading two books about conservatives written by conservatives
01:34:35.040 to get our country back intended by our founders we have to step out of our comfort zone listen reflect
01:34:42.100 and refrain this is fantastic if we can have that honest discovery of of of each other and ask the
01:34:54.040 ford dealer about the ford not the chevy dealer ask the ford dealer ask conservatives about conservatives
01:34:59.700 liberals about liberals
01:35:01.360 this is the glenn beck program i want to take john in michigan real quick hey john how are you
01:35:11.160 good uh thanks for taking my call um you've been talking about uh balance you know and
01:35:18.800 conservatives need to uh balance their thinking by talking to liberals wait wait wait no no no no
01:35:24.860 wait hang on i want to make sure i'm clear on this everybody needs to do this is not a conservative
01:35:28.360 thing all of us need to do this yeah yeah yeah okay all right yeah i i get that yeah but my problem is
01:35:35.140 um there's i don't think there's a moral equivalence today uh largely because of the media the media has
01:35:43.360 enabled the other side frankly to be a lot worse than our side i mean they can get away with a lot
01:35:51.580 more than we can and that culture has dominated us for a hundred years right woodrow wilson is that
01:35:57.960 what you've been saying it is god bless you you know he's a bad guy yeah not as bad as he used to
01:36:03.800 be but no i hate that guy i still hate him yeah yeah yeah but so i i guess i just i'm not understanding
01:36:11.360 uh crossing over to the others i understand wanted to talk to the liberals and understand and okay so
01:36:18.580 so let me let me see if this helps you out let me see if this helps you out i'm not talking about
01:36:22.860 i don't know if you've ever talked to somebody who is on the other side and the minute you start
01:36:28.180 talking they just start going into talking points and you're just not going to change their mind and
01:36:32.800 they're and and they're not listening to what you're having to say i'm not talking about that i mean you
01:36:38.480 get i get that in my own family you don't don't i'm not so what i'm still talking about i'm talking
01:36:43.720 about people who the conversation starts with i am really tired of hating half of the country i'm
01:36:52.000 really tired of it and i i i don't think that's who i don't think that's who you are because i know
01:36:59.160 it's not who i am and finding the things that you have in common i'm not talking about changing
01:37:05.640 policies we're we're past that point right now we have to find basic humanity and reasons to believe
01:37:14.320 in each other again to believe that you just because you voted for another guy or you believe
01:37:20.400 something that you are not a a horrible human being that wants to destroy everything that i love
01:37:28.520 we have to get there so there's a good portion of the the population on both left and the right
01:37:34.880 that i don't need to have a conversation with because they're not they're they're into the team
01:37:39.360 don't don't waste your time on that i i understand that and i at least theoretically understand it just
01:37:48.040 seems like uh the other side has just i don't i don't know that we have equivalencies on both
01:37:55.620 sides as far as uh somebody like bernie sanders saying that christians shouldn't be in politics do
01:38:01.860 we have anybody on the conservative side saying anything that outrageous i mean outrageous i think
01:38:08.740 part of this other than other than the alt-right i know about the alt-right which i think you guys
01:38:13.700 exaggerate an awful lot i we sure do but we love doing it it's we do we love we love stirring it up
01:38:20.400 love exaggerating i mean i think the focus here and i think the part the problem with the feeling that
01:38:26.700 we have that you can never talk to anyone who you know is kind of on the other side is we
01:38:29.580 constantly emphasize the worst people i mean you bring up bernie sanders the guy's an admitted
01:38:34.520 socialist well you're not gonna convince bernie sanders of anything you know you know here's a good
01:38:39.580 example pen jillette and i yeah pen and i have talked about we have so much in common and so much
01:38:48.240 we don't agree on we focus on the things we agree on as pen said glenn by the time if you and i ran the
01:38:55.060 country by the time we got to the place to where we had real knock down drag up it's 30 years down the
01:39:03.640 road there's enough that we can come together on for instance why are we talking about a you know
01:39:09.740 repeal all guns and gun control and take them all why are we having that conversation that isn't even
01:39:16.500 re it's not based in reality in america as we know it unless you want a revolution what are the things
01:39:23.520 that we do agree on it may not even be arming teachers you can't tell me that you can't have a
01:39:29.920 conversation with somebody on the other side in your own life and say what are we doing what's
01:39:35.120 happening to our kids what's happening to our kids i'm concerned about our kids you know can we
01:39:41.320 harden the school what can we do what we can do gun control okay well okay that let's let's let
01:39:47.140 washington deal with that for a minute what are the things that we can actually do if you can get
01:39:52.660 there then we have a chance but i'm not even talking about policies and pat pat gray joins us
01:39:59.100 isn't there something to say about if you're if you're afraid to talk to someone on the other
01:40:04.600 side about your your values doesn't that mean that you don't actually have confidence in them
01:40:09.380 like are what are you risking like let's say you never ever convince uh or understand anything better
01:40:15.500 by talking to someone on the left what are you risking right you should that's our job is
01:40:20.460 partially if we believe in these things is to try to evangelize for them we certainly believe that
01:40:26.460 with faith right like if you never talk to someone who doesn't isn't a believer what's the you know
01:40:31.220 what's the point uh well i'm not sure i'm there because glenn just said he's tired of hating people
01:40:37.920 on the other side i'm just starting to really enjoy it well i mean hating him for no reason i like to
01:40:45.020 get to know people and hate him for good quality reasons all right well i like to hate him just in
01:40:50.180 general principle really i just enjoy it yeah it's fun yeah it's good i just feel better when
01:40:56.180 i'm loaded with hate don't you
01:40:57.420 i'm actually even on my show getting people who are talking about this how do we come together
01:41:05.120 and it's happening i'm telling you it's confusing part is like our last your last caller just said
01:41:12.200 it's hard to find like-minded people on the other side but there are some and you found some of them
01:41:16.700 you talk about them all the time yeah so so i can't wait i've got to have the weinsteins uh on
01:41:22.220 the we talked about them yesterday the uh the guys who are one of them is a biologic i'm sorry a
01:41:30.160 evolutionary biologist that taught at evergreen university or evergreen college in seattle
01:41:38.580 which is as far to the left crazy makes nyu look like you know you're you're going to class and
01:41:46.060 i'm the professor so we would probably disagree with him on almost every particular oh he is
01:41:51.300 except for what makes up a man and a woman right no i think no what his point is is that we are not
01:41:59.000 we are a society that won't listen and and look at facts anymore yeah let's just have a conversation
01:42:07.760 based on facts not feeling not what you think you know but what do we know let's make sure we are
01:42:16.600 we are looking for facts and having a real dialogue and not just shutting down anybody who disagrees with
01:42:24.240 you that's to me that's exciting because to me that's we're never going to agree with everybody
01:42:29.980 but we got to stop trying to find the wins or trying to find i'm going to change their mind
01:42:36.880 or i'm even going to talk to them about politics why when did that happen to us why do we only have
01:42:43.020 politics and why do we have to talk to everybody about politics why just find humanity again yeah
01:42:52.560 there's there's a lot of things we agree on if if we really you know set aside all the politics
01:42:58.260 there's a lot of things one of the interesting things that we agree on and the upper echelon of
01:43:04.340 the democrat party makes such a big deal out of voter id we just voted yesterday there's no there's
01:43:10.320 80 percent support from minorities on voter id why because they have id and they don't want non-citizens
01:43:18.600 voting any more than we do so and and it's not like they can't i don't know how to get a driver's
01:43:24.400 license i don't know how to do that i i can't i i don't have a picture id what are you talking about
01:43:28.940 that that is the racist viewpoint saying that right that the minorities can't have access to
01:43:36.200 a stinking id they all do yeah i think people i think there's i think you're getting extra calls
01:43:40.960 now on this uh because i think people are starting to see the writing on the wall look what's happening
01:43:45.680 in south africa this is terrifying terrifying yeah because it's already been done right look how
01:43:51.400 super successfully by the way yeah caused an entire nation to starve nelson mandela is dead now what
01:43:58.220 four years and the new president the new president who was arrested four years ago three years ago for
01:44:06.600 singing a song kill whitey uh he was arrested he's now the one of the well he's the president of south
01:44:16.140 africa but his party that he created based on this hatred is is the third largest party in the nation
01:44:23.380 so essentially illegal before this right so nelson mandela dies within five years you now have a
01:44:30.760 president of south africa says the time for reconciliation is over and he's taking all of
01:44:35.500 the land from the white people in south africa because of this horrible you know on you know uh
01:44:42.820 unbalance if you will of of uh or imbalance on on you know ownership in south africa and people are
01:44:51.480 you know like the black lives matter if you will i hate to even put those guys into this category the
01:44:57.360 worst of the worst of what you think black lives matter might be are going down and hunting white
01:45:04.340 people down and killing them butchering them literally cutting them into pieces i think the
01:45:11.740 average person is starting to see wait a minute this is not this hatred is going to take us to really
01:45:15.680 bad places and i don't want any part of it and and the lyrics to kill whitey are unsurprisingly
01:45:21.560 really terrifying but you can dance to it it is true you can dance south african bandstand it was
01:45:28.420 big it does have a good beat then it's really catchy i you know as a white person found myself saying
01:45:34.820 singing it all day yeah it was a weird moment in the bank so it's kind of strange so pat we were
01:45:42.060 talking earlier today and we've we've given a homework assignment for the audience uh that
01:45:47.100 tonight they all have to go to netflix and they have to watch the push did you watch that yesterday
01:45:52.360 i did it's it's so riveting it's incredible and every step of the way you're wondering what would i do
01:45:58.220 here what would i do that or what would i would i step back and say wait a minute no i'm not i'm not
01:46:06.760 doing that i would have i think i would have ejected be careful with your details i think i
01:46:11.940 would have i think i would have ejected at the vegetarian question me too i thought so too yeah
01:46:17.760 i would have been like no yes i mean that could really hurt people yeah in case you don't know
01:46:22.380 they they had uh like little cocktail weenies and they were supposed to have you know and it's
01:46:27.400 one of the first things that happened so it's not so it's not i'm not giving away a lot uh they
01:46:30.820 have normal and vegetarian plate well the vegetarian uh hot dogs don't show up so they're they just get
01:46:37.240 this guy to say just just put the regular ones on there and put the vegetarian flag in them and no
01:46:41.520 one's gonna know no it could really make somebody sick i could but i mean you know most yeah most
01:46:47.220 chants i mean you know said as a vegetarian most likely the person would eat it and probably be like
01:46:51.760 wow this is a really good vegetarian hot dog and not really even realize the difference uh and you
01:46:56.700 so it's a minor it's a minor infraction yeah but it leads to in 90 minutes the question is we don't
01:47:03.300 want to really reveal they do this with four people and it's stunning um can they put these people
01:47:11.100 normal people into a situation in 90 minutes get a normal person to push another living human being
01:47:19.920 who has done nothing to them nothing wrong and nothing wrong it's an innocent person can they
01:47:26.360 convince them to push that person off the ledge and kill them and it's an hour-long show and they
01:47:34.160 put them through documentary it's amazing i felt so bad for the people involved because he was going
01:47:39.800 through hell how do camera did you did you want to see did you notice a how relieved they were when
01:47:46.700 they found out i think i would i think i would have hit the guy in the face i would have been pissed i
01:47:50.700 would have been pissed yeah you put me through all this and i can't i cannot imagine the psychological
01:47:57.740 impact and that's what we talked about my wife and i last night is afterwards afterwards if you
01:48:03.280 could or you couldn't or whatever the outcome is yeah it would affect you for life i would think big
01:48:08.980 time the other thing i kept thinking of is what is the liability for this show oh my gosh how did
01:48:14.420 they get this done i think it'd be interesting to watch these people because you know if anybody who
01:48:19.500 decided to or didn't decide whatever they decided to do push or not push uh i think there could be
01:48:25.440 real psychological damage definitely but it is it's please watch it we're going to talk about it more
01:48:29.800 tomorrow uh it's called push on netflix one quick three quick questions for you yeah so three things
01:48:35.520 was it entertaining yes yes right was it terrifying yes yes was it morally okay for them to do it i that
01:48:44.120 one i don't i don't think i can say yes to that i know only because i don't know only because i know
01:48:48.820 of the 60 the 1960s studies that yale did and i i just finished reading a book called ordinary men
01:48:54.820 that is this study i think the times are okay to do this not for gratuitous entertainment but for you
