00:25:09.560 of northern syria uh and i saw sort of the media have a collective meltdown my initial reaction was

00:25:15.660 there's more to this story than we are hearing and i think that's why this piece has resonated with

00:25:21.160 people because they sort of went through a very similar thought process essentially what happened

00:25:26.960 in syria in order to understand what donald trump's move are moves are you have to understand kind of

00:25:32.680 why we got to the place we are and the reason we're in the situation we are in is because back in

00:25:38.500 2010 uh when obama was calling um or back in the mid 2010s when obama was calling isis the jv squad

00:25:46.260 and he realized that isis was a much bigger threat than he anticipated he had to choose allies in the

00:25:52.160 middle east in order to combat isis and he chose to align the united states with the ypg

00:25:58.320 which was basically a group of pro-assad syrian kurdish forces uh now the issue with that

00:26:05.080 alliance is that those particular groups of kurds were seen basically as a terrorist organization by

00:26:11.260 the turks yeah if you remember the gop got involved in this as well you know john mccain was seen with

00:26:16.680 these terrorists and we're like we're what are we doing we're in bed with really bad people

00:26:27.520 he was trying to not rock the boat with the iran deal so he had to align the united states with

00:26:45.380 troops and that's a really important factor here but we also have to remember that when we choose our

00:26:51.140 allies we're not necessarily choosing people that everyone is going to like and for the turks that could

00:26:55.820 not be more true and so essentially we posted up these groups of what the turks would regard as

00:27:01.980 terrorists along the syrian turkish border this was an unsustainable situation there was no way that

00:27:08.380 in the long term um president erdogan of turkey would be okay with this situation whatever regardless of

00:27:15.780 what your feelings are on the kurds are that's the perspective that turkey had and so that's the

00:27:20.960 situation when donald trump entered office that was the situation that he entered upon and he

00:27:26.080 essentially gave turkey two choices he said look we will cooperate with you we know it's an uncomfortable

00:27:31.840 situation we can share intelligence with you and maintain the defeat of isis or if you're that

00:27:38.760 disgruntled we will just let you be and sort of whatever wherever the chips may fall they fall so if you

00:27:45.140 decide to invade syria that's on you if you want to face international condemnation uh have sanctions

00:27:51.300 slapped on you that's on you we're not going to support that we'll we will probably be part of the

00:27:56.120 force that is uh slapping sanctions on you but we're giving you these two choices choose wisely

00:29:02.120 as the war is over the soviet union is our enemy so did we betray them or did we just correctly

00:29:34.180 push that back just a bit and see what how you respond on this we didn't bring those troops home

00:29:39.480 they just went over to iraq so it's not like it's not like these guys were like hey job well done come

00:29:44.860 home they just went to iraq right or or or other places in syria sure my my i'm saying that it's okay

00:30:10.600 actors but at the same time we also send a message in the middle east that we're not good on our word

00:30:15.080 and i think there is a happy medium between the two this is something that ted cruz uh senator ted

00:30:21.480 cruz tried to hit upon in one of his tweets a couple days ago where he talked about how balancing

00:30:27.200 um our international image is also really important but bringing the troops home is important

00:30:33.040 as well and so i think you know we do need to recognize that when we enter into alliances

00:30:37.160 for better or for worse i mean these people did lose thousands of lives fighting next to us

00:30:42.780 and joining a war that we told the entire international community was necessary to fight for our national

00:30:48.180 security interests did we it is something that's worth thinking about but again um you know the what

00:30:55.860 i wanted to highlight in the piece was that the media treating this as a situation where trump went

00:31:00.600 rogue or lost his mind is just completely untrue and it just shows again how much the media will avoid

00:31:08.300 talking about obama's foreign policy legacy because they know if they did it would show how poor it was

01:54:00.120 entirely communist and then they sold it they sold half of it i think off isn't that right

01:54:20.560 fbi of stealing nuclear secrets in the united states and there's an engineer there named alan ho who

01:54:33.260 nuclear reactor which is a small nuclear reactor that has implications for submarines it's small it's

01:56:33.500 company um called hennegus which is based out of michigan uh and and they you know hunter biden's

01:56:39.960 firm buys uh half of it the other half of it is bought by a chinese avionics company which is a large

01:56:46.800 military contractor in china that has stolen all kinds of military technologies from us including

01:56:52.820 things related to the f-35 fighter they jointly come in and buy hennegus this precision tools company

01:57:00.560 in michigan that that creates um products that are anti-vibration technologies and it's a so-called

01:57:08.340 dual use company because certainly there's anti-vibration technologies they want in the

01:57:13.600 automotive industry and in in the civilian market but it also has very clear military applications so

01:57:20.540 these are dual use technologies and this transaction has to be approved by the obama administration which

01:57:28.720 they do so now you have the vice president's son involved in a transaction that puts dual use

01:57:35.900 military related technologies under the control of the chinese government this is the pattern that's

01:57:42.760 emerging with these transactions they're they're buying into companies they're engaging in transactions
