00:06:49.760 You bet. So, Tracy, we've been watching from afar this amazing story. Can you tell us from

00:06:57.180 the beginning? I mean, let's start with the national anthem. When the girls' soccer team

00:07:01.820 was out, we had just started bombing Iran, and the soccer team is standing on the field,

00:07:08.760 the national anthem is played and they don't sing start there how shocking was that and how much

00:07:15.600 trouble were they in and did they well they're in a lot of trouble yeah so if i rewind even further

00:07:22.500 back in the qatar fifa world cup in 2022 the men's team did the same thing they had turned up to play

00:07:29.740 uh on the back of a massive protests in their country and when the anthem played they did not

00:07:35.680 sing. They were then instructed they must sing by game two, otherwise they would face consequences

00:07:41.520 when they got back home. So when the women did the same thing, it was, you know, an act of bravery.

00:07:49.140 It was a real statement. But I think we also need to pull back and look at the wider context. As you

00:07:55.160 say, 48 hours earlier, the bombing campaign had started in their country. So their country was

00:08:01.720 essentially at war and and there were pockets of um celebrations in the streets even here in

00:08:08.660 australia where quite a large iranian expat community lives and so there was all of this

00:08:15.180 feeding into them and and feeding into where they stood on this so game number one national anthem

00:08:21.000 plays they don't sing and there were repercussions we know that because by game two uh not only had

00:08:28.600 we've seen the security apparatus tighten around the team at their team hotel.

00:08:33.080 But by game two, they not only sang the anthem, they also saluted the flag.

00:08:40.460 So any idea, we've heard rumors, their families,

00:08:45.560 some of them may have been taken or taken in for questioning,

00:08:48.700 or at least the message was sent, you will behave, we have your families.

00:08:55.300 They also had to sign statements before they left, which was tying them from what we believe to some sort of financial commitment that these girls would all return home.

00:09:07.160 Otherwise, there would be a penalty for the family to pay, financial or otherwise.

00:09:12.620 And also, after the incident, we also heard from one of the state spokespeople on state television, basically saying that these women were not just traitors, they were wartime traitors, the worst of the worst, and they should be punished sufficiently, given that tag.

00:09:34.200 well i mean we know what i mean in america the the only crime that comes with a

00:09:41.300 a constitutional punishment is traitor um it's very hard to prove in america but it is

00:09:48.680 it's constitutionally required death i gotta believe that's the kind of punishment they were

00:09:55.240 talking about in iran yeah well you would hate to think that that's uh what they were going to face

00:10:01.580 but we're in a situation now where six of the women stayed in Australia.

00:10:06.720 They have sought asylum and been given visas.

00:10:08.940 The Australian government offered emergency visas

00:10:11.340 to any female in that team that wanted one.

00:10:15.580 There was one other who originally accepted one

00:10:18.240 and then changed her mind.

00:10:20.160 Now, those that didn't accept them have flown to Malaysia.

00:10:23.940 They were supposed to get on a flight to go onwards to Turkey

00:10:26.880 and then bus across the border into Iran,

00:10:29.540 but they've been prevented from doing that.

00:10:31.580 They can't find plane access to be able to get back into the vicinity of Iran.

00:10:37.860 So they're still in Malaysia.

00:10:39.200 And there are rumors that there are some people in Malaysia now, perhaps another three, who are also seeking asylum.

00:10:46.980 So what has happened if they do get home?

00:10:54.060 Do you have any idea why they would have chosen to go home?

00:10:57.080 Was it family or were they believers in the regime?

00:11:01.580 Well, we don't know the breakdown of that, but I imagine there may have been some that were regime supporters.

00:11:07.920 We have seen one woman in particular, one of the players who has put up a very pro-regime message on her Instagram account.

00:11:17.240 But you don't know whether that is done through coercion.

00:11:21.320 But, you know, if you have to think about that choice to make as a young female,

00:11:26.300 Well, do I stay in a foreign land where I don't speak the language and know nobody, but I will have a freedom that I do not have at home?

00:11:33.820 Or do I go back to my family who was under threat because of my position?

00:11:37.680 We've also seen a change in state television broadcasting who have said that any girl that comes home will be celebrated as a national hero.

00:11:48.140 so they're being put in this terrible psychological position where they've got to be you know back

00:11:53.340 flipping on what they want and what they think and what they're being threatened with and how

00:11:57.760 they have to pretend if they don't believe so i saw one of your reports and i can't believe this

00:12:04.540 is true uh i mean donald trump had to get involved and say and i and i hope it wasn't too much

00:12:09.960 pressure um that it took but he said look guys if you don't take them we will but i've heard reports

00:12:16.540 from you that your secretary of foreign affairs have some kind of deal that if somebody wants to

00:12:22.920 defect that he his office has to be alerted and then he alerts the country of origin is that true

00:12:30.480 no that's not true no so so what happens oh thank god

00:12:35.180 i thought boy australia is lost if that's happening

00:12:40.860 No, the Home Affairs Minister has just stated that, you know, the government, they can't

00:12:47.640 coerce people into seeking asylum, so it has to come from the person themselves.

00:12:52.820 And, you know, once that approach has been made, they do everything in their power to

00:12:58.900 facilitate that, which is what happened.

00:13:01.160 The Home Affairs Minister actually flew to the Gold Coast, where the team was staying,

00:13:05.860 to be able to meet with those who were seeking asylum.

00:13:08.040 And then they did organise within the next 48 hours or so individual meetings with each of the girls to determine which way they thought to try and give them some space away from the very tight security around them who were trying to prevent them from, you know, making such decisions.

00:13:26.440 So President Trump didn't have to get involved?

00:13:29.700 Well, it was good that he did, I think, because that highlighted the situation to a whole lot of other people and around the world.

00:13:36.880 It got further headlines because of that. But the time he rang where he said, you know, basically, if you don't do it, we will.

00:13:45.020 The prime minister said to him, thanks very much. We've already got this under control.

00:13:49.560 Our home affairs minister is in a room with them right now.

00:13:52.820 And that's when Donald Trump then put out another truth saying he's got this.

00:13:57.700 The Australian prime minister is all over it.

00:13:59.220 I saw a video of protesters actually laying down in front of the bus at one point and I thought

00:14:08.040 well there's a group of protesters I actually applaud for the first time in a long time

00:14:12.140 these protesters that were saying don't don't ship them back don't allow that bus to move

00:14:18.020 have you seen any what is the reaction in Australia is it pro saving them or are you

00:14:26.300 getting pushback and you know we're unfortunately having terror attacks because of the war here in

00:14:31.060 america um are you seeing any signs of trouble for you guys for saving them um no but as you know

00:14:40.060 we've we've had trouble recently you know building up in the last few months we've had some attacks on

00:14:45.940 um you know synagogues we've had uh the the bondi beach shooting you know there there is this but

00:14:52.420 we've also had, you know, months and months of protests as well. But, you know, one thing I

00:14:57.800 should mention is the public support for the women's football team of Iran has been overwhelmingly

00:15:03.720 positive and very receptive to the government offering them these asylum visas, these emergency

00:15:10.700 visas. But at the same time that this was happening, the government took a position where

00:15:16.540 temporary visa holders in the Middle East region, and I think there's about 12,000, maybe more,

00:15:23.720 they have now been restricted. So even if they have a visa to come here, because they are now

00:15:29.500 at war, they will be restricted. And it's up to the Home Affairs Minister as to whether he will

00:15:35.480 allow those visa holders to actually come into the country. So it's like he was giving visas

00:15:41.980 to the women on one hand, but those that already had visas but are not in the country yet,

00:15:46.540 are being restricted from coming here.

00:15:48.940 And that's understandable given that war changes everything.

00:15:54.620 So FIFA begins in, what, less than 100 days, I think.

00:16:00.100 What are the ramifications on FIFA?

00:16:02.860 Because it's co-hosted here in America.

00:16:06.220 It is, and there's been a lot of focus on America

00:16:09.520 because we know that, again, immigration has been in the news

00:16:14.200 you know deportations as well so people were wondering if each of the teams that have qualified

00:16:20.660 would be able to get in there the president has said that any qualified team as long as you know

00:16:26.940 the the officials and the players pass through rigorous security checks will be allowed to come

00:16:33.080 in the iran team on the back of the war the the regime has said it's unlikely we will come

00:16:41.940 Then, you know, there were statements coming out of the US saying they were still welcome

00:16:48.220 to come because they have qualified.

00:20:47.660 So this is a wild, I guess, development in the entire war, because if you look where this is going, this will essentially be where the demonstrators, where they didn't have this capability before, obviously, but they will essentially be able to call in airstrikes, which I don't think has ever been done before in any kind of situation like this.

00:21:46.700 explosives reportedly in his vehicle, ran into the temple that had an active preschool going on

00:21:53.220 at the time. But he rammed in per reports, jumped out, and it sounds like he began shooting and

00:21:59.260 then security guards engaged and took him down now he was from uh lebanon originally um and

00:22:05.520 reports say that he was angry over uh airstrikes or people of his family that were killed over

00:22:12.380 there but when you look at that in terms of the other attack later old dominion shooter he uh was

00:22:18.820 had already been uh you know in trouble for for isis related stuff i'm not entirely sure why he

00:22:26.280 was let out but then goes in and starts shooting up the place and he's taken down by rotc members

00:22:32.720 at old dominion it's just an amazing story i cannot wait to hear more on the actual rotc people

00:31:14.440 right now it is everywhere and so now your options change okay the treatment has to change it's no

00:33:24.720 matter um and it may even piss the patient off when the doctor like i come in come in and tell

00:33:30.080 the truth but here's the truth none of this had to happen we didn't have to do this i've been i've

00:33:35.420 been on the air for 50 years so i've been on the air in fact uh it was i was on the air a couple

01:18:47.160 plague of locusts into Egypt later on in the days of Moses

01:18:51.280 that they covered the entire earth. And so just this

01:18:55.200 little bit in the very beginning of the story, things that are associated

01:18:59.200 with the east, and we're not talking the far east. I'm not talking China and that

01:19:03.200 area. We're talking about the east, Iraq, Iran,

01:19:10.940 establishing a pattern that there are things that come from that area that are in opposition to

01:28:54.100 it's very familiar another ideology has been growing quietly in the shadows of the modern

01:29:00.960 world, promising utopia. It speaks the language of faith and grievance. It literally promises

01:29:09.240 paradise. It uses the language of justice. And it has in the past hit its iron fist behind

01:29:17.300 slogans about equality and peace. And again, just like in the past, many intelligent people

01:29:24.480 insist, it's just misunderstood. It's just misunderstood. Again, if we would just be

01:29:31.600 patient, if we would be respectful, if we would just accommodate, it will moderate.

01:29:39.000 And unlike communism of the past, which rejected religion, this one wraps itself in religion.

01:29:44.980 But its goal is just like the communism of the Cold War and the national socialism of the Nazis.

01:29:51.120 It's just political power and political power over every nation, over every single person, over every single person's individual choices.

01:31:44.760 is painfully clear. It teaches that all the world must eventually be governed by a single

01:31:55.680 religious authority. It teaches that war against unbelievers is justified until that goal is

01:32:03.280 achieved until you submit submit and if you don't you can be raped sold into slavery or killed

01:32:12.340 if you don't submit you can be lied to you can be used and abused and it doesn't matter and their

01:32:18.160 god endorses that chaos and bloodshed are not tragedies they are a necessary step toward a

01:32:28.640 divine end listen to that in the west we look at bloodshed we look at war as a tragedy we look at

01:32:38.080 something that we don't want in political islam it is a necessary step toward a divine end

01:33:33.140 better. We thought, well, we'll use diplomacy and we can negotiate with it. But ideology does not

01:33:42.140 negotiate with reality reality it it reshapes reality until it fits the ideology have you

01:33:51.540 noticed that's what's happening reality hasn't changed reality is reality but your idea of

01:34:01.820 reality has been so hammered and so so squashed that it now is reshaped until it fits with an

01:34:12.940 ideology that doesn't make it real makes it a lie and every year that we delay in confronting the

01:34:22.540 truth. By not calling it out by its name, the movement grows stronger.
