00:00:00.640 Greetings, my esteemed subscribers. Today I thought to talk a bit about Game of Thrones, but before I begin to do so, I would again encourage you to follow me on Telegram, first link in the description box below.
00:00:14.820 If you follow me there, it adds to my levels of anti-fragility in terms of censorship.
00:00:20.600 And on another note, the much-anticipated handsome shorts are now back in three different colors, so you can check that out also.
00:00:31.560 You can find the links for those in the description box below.
00:00:35.940 Now, if you haven't watched Game of Thrones yet, don't worry, I won't spoil anything, so you can watch this entire video without me giving all too much away, so I won't spoil anything.
00:00:46.720 So, first and foremost, the question you might ask yourself, or you might ask me, is do I recommend Game of Thrones? Is it worth watching all seasons?
00:00:56.360 And I might be biased, but I would say yes, most definitely so.
00:01:01.340 I have plenty of great memories watching Game of Thrones.
00:01:04.460 I remember back in the day a few years ago, I used to pre-workout watch a Game of Thrones episode that I had looked forward to watching, drinking some coffee, eating some sweets, or other pre-workout-worthy things.
00:01:19.420 And then getting excited for the episode, leaving to the gym with that excitement, and just having a good old day.
00:01:27.020 So, yes, I have plenty of good memories watching the series over plenty of years, I might add, as well.
00:01:35.540 Because Game of Thrones has been on for quite a few years now, and it's sort of been in my life, and probably for a lot of other people too.
00:01:43.440 They've been, you know, Game of Thrones has been a part, a small part, but still a part in your life for a good few years.
00:01:51.300 So, it has some sentimental value, at least.
00:01:55.960 So, yes, for me, the memories I bring with me are mostly watching that as pre-workout, then hitting gym.
00:02:02.460 So, yeah, I might be biased when I say I really like the series.
00:02:07.840 Now, some guys might say it's a degenerate series, etc.
00:02:12.620 But I would say it's really not, if you compare it with Sex and the City.
00:02:17.760 What Sex and the City does is it portrays a degenerate and decadent lifestyle as something glamorous.
00:02:25.060 Whereas, in Game of Thrones, the sex, for example, it's not portrayed as something glamorous at all.
00:02:33.220 It's portrayed as something ugly, rather.
00:02:36.620 So, the sex scenes and the nudity, it only adds to the rawness of the series.
00:02:43.280 It only adds to the darkness of the series.
00:02:47.500 It's the same thing with the bloody scenes.
00:02:50.780 It's not supposed to be romantic.
00:02:52.400 It's not supposed to be good.
00:02:53.560 It's not supposed to be something worth emulating.
00:02:56.340 So, for example, all of the scenes in brothels in Game of Thrones, it's not something anyone watching thinking that they want to go to a brothel.
00:03:04.860 Or, if you see a scene where Cersei and Jaime are intimate, it's not something that is being portrayed in a good light.
00:03:12.540 On the contrary, it's being portrayed as them being bad people.
00:03:16.400 Same thing with everyone who participates in this sort of deviant behavior.
00:03:20.920 It's to reinforce the fact that they are not the good people in the series.
00:03:26.100 So, for anyone who says Game of Thrones is degenerate, I definitely do not agree.
00:03:32.220 And, again, to compare it with something else, look at Sex and the City.
00:03:36.640 There, it's actually a glamourful thing to engage in this sort of behavior.
00:03:41.800 So, if you would watch five seasons of Sex and the City, you would probably think it was a nice idea to live in New York City and to go out and, yeah, do what they do in that series.
00:03:53.480 But, none of that in Game of Thrones is not being portrayed in a good way.
00:03:57.880 So, that's the point of contention I would like to just get out of the way for anyone who says it's degenerate.
00:04:05.420 And this is coming from the individual, me, who is perhaps the most against porn.
00:04:12.080 So, one thing is porn and one other thing is sex and nudity in TV series and films, etc.
00:04:19.260 It's absolutely not the same thing and I'm not a prude in that regard.
00:04:23.580 I don't have anything against nudity and sex in series if it adds to the story.
00:04:29.040 But, then again, I don't in any way, shape, or form endorse pornography.
00:04:33.780 But, again, two different things.
00:04:36.380 Now, on to the heroes of the series.
00:04:40.200 The heroes of a whole generation.
00:04:42.420 Because, we have to keep in mind that Game of Thrones is a huge, hugely massive series that a lot of people watch.
00:04:52.480 A lot of people will watch.
00:04:53.820 A lot of people have watched it.
00:04:55.320 And, who are the heroes in the series?
00:04:57.900 Yes, they look like this.
00:04:59.240 Boom.
00:04:59.980 And, that's something I'm completely fine with seeing.
00:05:03.760 I'm completely fine with that the heroes are looking like this.
00:05:07.500 Because, usually, if you look upon other series, it's not all too common to have these white, straight men as the protagonists and heroes.
00:05:16.980 Usually, they can be that, but then they have some sort of alibi or something that makes it okay.
00:05:23.380 Or, you have these ironic Marvel heroes who are always in need of a comic relief or something like that.
00:05:31.140 But, if we look upon, perhaps, the greatest hero of Game of Thrones, it's Jon Snow.
00:05:36.520 And, he is the archetype of a hero.
00:05:40.000 Brooding, calm, collected, always does the right thing.
00:05:43.280 Doesn't fall for the nefarious ways of the less heroic individuals.
00:05:48.920 He just goes straight at it.
00:05:50.320 He is an excellent hero, in my view.
00:05:53.520 And, I'm quite happy that we can have, in this day and age, when everything is Hong Kong, clown world-ish, we can have a hero who is normal in that regard.
00:06:04.340 Then, of course, there are a lot of villains in the series.
00:06:07.280 But, again, it's supposed to be perhaps not grimdark as you would have in Warhammer Fantasy or Warhammer 40k.
00:06:15.480 But, it's still realistic in that sort of way, in that sort of brutal way.
00:06:19.820 So, you have a lot of, yeah, as I said, in regards to the sex, you have a lot of deviancy in all shapes and forms.
00:06:27.820 So, again, I think that adds to the series that it's not only happy-go-lucky, but it is a bit brutal.
00:06:35.620 And, not to spoil anything, but a lot of characters die.
00:06:38.760 And, I think that's good.
00:06:40.320 It adds to the excitement of the series.
00:06:42.880 And, yeah, it's one of the reasons I liked it and I got excited for it, because you never knew what was going to happen.
00:06:50.700 So, that's basically my reasons for recommending this series to you.
00:06:55.720 And, also, another thing I think is really important to point out, that the people who are seeing this series,
00:07:02.760 they obviously get an injection, perhaps not an injection purely of European history,
00:07:09.560 but the whole series, the books, are heavily inspired by European history, as most fantasy is, to a certain extent, at least.
00:07:18.360 And, if we look upon Game of Thrones, compare that with the War of the Roses, yeah, it's a quite good comparison.
00:07:25.760 It's obviously not based completely upon it, but it is clear that George Martin has taken some inspiration from that time period in English history.
00:07:35.220 And, as a side note here, if you want some good books, Connie Gilden has written a few books on the English War of Roses.
00:07:42.660 So, yes, good book recommendation right there.
00:07:46.680 So, anyway, I think a lot of people, they are getting more in touch with history, and, in my view, that's an absolutely good thing.
00:07:54.800 So, perhaps they start watching that and realize that, you know, history can be interesting, even though it's not history per se,
00:08:01.960 but they can still go towards that sort of interest, and that, again, in my view, is a good thing.
00:08:08.560 Then, of course, not everything in the series is perfect.
00:08:11.680 I'm not saying it's the perfect series, but I'm saying it's good enough for me to recommend.
00:08:16.840 And, when I say that, I don't endorse everything in it, but that's the case with everything.
00:08:22.320 I can't endorse everything someone has said or someone has done or something is being portrayed in a series,
00:08:27.640 but it's good enough for me to recommend.
00:08:29.760 So, that's my thoughts on Game of Thrones, at least.
00:08:33.680 Plenty of good memories, plenty of motivation to train or to just enjoy life.
00:08:39.980 So, thank you for watching.
00:08:42.040 XXO, boo.
