00:00:00.000 Hello everybody, I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show midday update for Friday, January 17th.

00:00:05.660 Happy Friday, folks. We all made it through the week and I've got some good news for you all.

00:00:10.100 This is the last Friday with Joe Biden as our president from every Friday here going forward.

00:00:15.580 It's going to be Donald J. Trump for the next four years at least.

00:00:19.240 Maybe for eight. We'll see what happens, I guess.

00:00:22.080 The Senate confirmation hearings for President Trump's cabinet picks continued today.

00:00:25.320 Only one on the slate. That's Governor Kristi Noem. She's up for President Trump's Department of Homeland Security secretary.

00:00:32.640 We'll have an update for you later on today on how she's doing and which Marxist dem she decided to take to task.

00:00:39.460 Wanted to be a wise guy or a wise woman? 0.99

00:00:42.380 That's the way things have been going for these cabinet appointment members with these Marxist dems. 1.00

00:00:47.580 Not being able to contain their stupidity. 1.00

00:00:49.800 Monday's inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance is going to be moved indoors. 1.00

00:00:59.600 Plans are underway to have the two sworn in inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, this according to CNN.

00:01:05.880 Discussions regarding where to hold the inaugural parade and other celebrations are still underway.

00:01:10.240 However, Trump's team has been in talks with potentially to hold some festivities at the Capital One Arena,

00:01:15.600 where Trump will also be holding a rally on Sunday.

00:01:18.480 President Trump tweeted out the following message on his Truth Social and his Twitter.

00:01:23.160 Quote,

00:01:23.440 January 20th cannot come fast enough.

00:01:25.920 Everybody, those that initially opposed a victory by President Donald J. Trump and the Trump administration,

00:01:31.780 just want it to happen.

00:01:33.260 It's my obligation to protect the people of our country.

00:01:36.280 But before we even begin, we have to think of the inauguration itself.

00:01:39.560 The weather forecast for Washington, D.C., with the wind chill factor,

00:01:43.280 could take temperatures into the severe record lows.

00:01:46.360 There's an Arctic blast sweeping through the country.

00:01:48.480 I don't want to see people hurt or injured in any way.

00:01:52.160 It is dangerous conditions for the tens of thousands of law enforcement, first officers,

00:01:56.140 and police canines, and even horses and hundreds of thousands of supporters

00:01:59.800 that will be outside for many hours on the 20th.

00:02:03.060 In any event, if you decide to come, dress warmly.

00:02:05.620 Therefore, I have ordered the inauguration address, in addition to the prayers and other speeches,

00:02:10.840 to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda, as was used by Ronald Reagan in 1985,

00:02:16.880 also because of the very cold weather.

00:02:19.240 The various dignitaries and guests will be brought into the Capitol.

00:02:21.760 This will be a very beautiful experience for all, and especially for the large TV audience.

00:02:27.480 Folks, I think it's a blessing in disguise that this Arctic blast is going through D.C.

00:02:33.640 We've all been talking about on this show President Trump's safety going into the inauguration,

00:02:38.220 and on January 20th, this coming Monday.

00:02:40.840 So I think it provides them a little bit more safety in there.

00:02:44.000 For God forbid anybody, any bad actors, to want to make a move on President Trump, as we've seen in the past.

00:02:51.720 So nonetheless, I think this is a great move for the country and for the safety of President Donald Trump.

00:02:58.540 This afternoon, folks, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a law forcing China-owned ByteDance

00:03:03.140 to divest from TikTok, buy Sunday, or face a ban from the U.S. app stores.

00:03:08.260 President Trump has previously asked the U.S. Supreme Court to pause the ban

00:03:11.460 so his administration can be given the opportunity to pursue a political resolution to the questions at issue in the case.

00:03:19.880 TikTok previously filed a petition with the Supreme Court

00:03:22.320 and argued to ban the social media app with silence of speech of the Americans.

00:03:27.220 President Joe Biden refusing to enforce that.

00:03:30.800 So as of right now, there's no ban going into effect.

00:03:33.800 We're going to have to wait for President Trump to come back in.

00:03:35.720 But it doesn't seem President Trump is in favor of any type of ban for TikTok either.

00:03:39.880 So it's likely here to stay as the Chinese continue to do whatever they want on our own soil. 1.00

00:03:47.680 And A.G. Merrick Garland, a man I think we're all happy to see go,

00:03:52.780 giving his resignation speech this week, saying he's sad to go,

00:03:57.180 but he couldn't help himself. 0.99

00:03:58.880 This sick, demented man could not help himself in his farewell address. 0.99

00:04:03.080 He couldn't have just went off into the sunset, thanked everybody, 1.00

00:04:05.820 thanked everybody for the terrible job they've done under his leadership.

00:04:08.280 He had to take his time to go after, you guessed it folks, the January Sixters. 0.95

00:04:15.480 Take a listen to this mental case, this psychopath, and boy are we happy to see him go.

00:04:22.080 You protected our country's democratic institutions from violence and threats of violence.

00:04:28.240 You charged more than 1,500 people for criminal conduct that occurred during the January 6th attack on the Capitol,

00:04:34.340 as well as in the days and weeks leading up to that attack.

00:04:38.600 You brought to justice those who kicked, punched, beat, and tased law enforcement officers

00:04:44.400 who were protecting the Capitol that day.

00:04:47.760 And you pursued accountability for that attack on our democracy wherever it led,

00:04:53.960 guided only by your commitment to following the facts and the law.

00:04:58.060 Now, I am proud of the work you have done.

00:05:04.100 I am equally proud of the way you have done that work.

00:05:09.300 Huh, police officers tased and beaten?

00:05:12.320 I would love to see the videos of that happening, folks,

00:05:15.660 because this is the first I'm hearing of any police police officers tased on January 6th.

00:05:20.300 The only known deaths that happened on January 6th were of Trump supporters.

00:05:25.960 No Capitol Hill police or anything like that.

00:05:28.880 A total farce and a disgrace for the demented Merrick Garland to use his farewell address

00:05:35.360 to continue his obsession with these January Sixters.

00:05:39.800 But, folks, in just a few days, I think God is coming to save those January Sixters 1.00

00:05:46.280 who are still sitting in those jail cells, rotting, while Merrick Garland continues to joke about it.
