00:03:25.040 And yet, you're warning about it.
00:03:27.680 What is Timu?
00:03:29.400 Well, Timu purports to be an app that allows you to buy cheap goods directly from factories
00:03:37.560 in China.
00:03:38.480 And, of course, the bargains are incredibly cheap, supposedly.
00:03:45.660 You know, you can get five pairs of socks for $1.69.
00:03:48.960 You can get a gold, gold in quotes, necklace for $1.
00:03:52.700 And after a couple of weeks, two or three weeks, you will, in many cases, get a package from
00:03:58.960 China containing these cheap goods.
00:04:01.740 But what people need to realize is that, like all apps that are made in China, you're getting more than you bargained for.
00:04:10.080 Because the Timu app actually, Timu belongs to a company called Pintuoduo, which is the Amazon of China.
00:04:21.100 And they've been fairly successful in China at selling these cheap goods directly from the factory.
00:04:27.360 But what has been discovered by cyber experts is that the app itself contains malware, and it downloads everything on your phone.
00:04:37.300 It basically ransacks your phone.
00:04:39.920 And you might say, well, of course, don't all companies try to get data from you on your searches so they can pop up ads.
00:04:47.540 Well, this is a lot more than that.
00:04:50.660 This downloads your contacts.
00:04:52.400 It downloads your photos.
00:04:54.180 It downloads not just all your searches.
00:04:56.780 It downloads your financial information.
00:04:59.060 Basically, almost everything on your phone is taken by the app.
00:05:04.720 And the worst part of it is the app cannot be easily uninstalled.
00:05:11.940 Once it's on your phone, once this little parasite is on your phone, it stays on your phone, despite your best efforts to uninstall it.
00:05:21.120 Now, what happens to the data when it gets back in China?
00:05:23.940 It doesn't remain on the servers of a supposedly private company.

00:05:31.460 Because there are no private companies in China.
00:05:33.860 Everything, every company in China is run by, controlled, or influenced by the Chinese Communist Party.
00:05:40.560 So when you're doing business with Timu, you're basically in business with the Chinese Communist Party.
00:05:48.480 All companies in China, like Alibaba and Pinduoduo team, have to transfer their data to the servers run by the Chinese Communist Party.
00:05:58.360 There's a law, actually, that says, it passed in 2017, the intelligence law, that says all information that's vital to national security must be handed over to the Chinese Communist Party's intelligence agencies.
00:06:12.780 Well, companies in China understand what that means.
00:06:16.000 It means that you have to turn over all your data to the state in real time.
00:06:21.260 So your data is not just going to a private company, it's going to the Chinese Communist Party, which is collecting massive amounts of data on people all around the world, and they do not have good intentions.
00:06:34.900 Now, when you buy these goods, you have to understand, if you're buying anything, let's say, out of cotton, right?
00:06:40.820 The socks, cotton socks, you're buying goods that are made by slave labor.
00:06:48.020 The cotton comes from eastern Turkestan, what the Chinese Communist Party calls Xinjiang, the new border.
00:06:53.940 And it uses, they use slave labor in China, I use that term deliberately, because it's the Uyghur minorities, which is out in the cotton fields, picking cotton with their hands, and processing the cotton, and working in the cotton mills, and then working to produce these cheap socks that people think they're getting for almost nothing. 0.99

00:12:24.020 Well, you know, it was often said by leftists 50 years ago that a truly totalitarian state is impossible to achieve because you don't have enough police to watch everybody all the time in real time.

00:12:43.520 You don't need to have human actors, human operators watching everybody all the time.
00:12:49.360 You can use artificial intelligence, you can use supercomputers, you can use surveillance cameras, you can use people's smartphones, collecting all the data from them in real time.

00:13:03.420 You don't need to have a policeman in front of the home of every family in the country because you can police people now using modern technology.

00:13:40.220 Remember, the cameras, the surveillance technology, the genetic testing that they do on everyone in China, the artificial intelligence, all of that is technology that we developed that they are now using to surveil all their people in real time.

00:14:03.900 You jaywalk in Beijing, the surveillance camera picks up your criminal action.
00:14:09.120 The face recognition technology, which we developed in the United States, is used to identify you.
00:14:15.620 The artificial intelligence deducts the fine for jaywalking from your bank account without any human intervention necessary.
00:14:24.360 That is totalitarianism, cyber style, which is happening in China right now.
00:14:30.820 We hear about the social credit system in China, which may be coming here to the United States.
00:14:36.080 Social credit means they're monitoring all of your social media posts, all of your searches, all of your communications, all of your telephone calls, all of your travel, your location in real time.
00:14:46.720 And if you appear to be engaging in suspicious activity, visiting the wrong websites, saying the wrong things, communicating with the wrong people, your social credit score plummets.
00:14:58.060 And if it drops too low, you can't ride on a plane.
00:15:01.180 You can't leave the country.
00:15:02.660 You can't ride on high-speed rail.
00:15:04.780 You can't get a loan to buy a home or a car.
00:15:07.180 And basically, if your social credit score drops too low, they zero out your bank account and you can't access any funds you may have, basically putting you in prison without really having to send people to lock you up.

00:15:27.080 And I'm afraid when we talk about things like digital currency, when we see that the Biden administration is working with social media companies, with Facebook and others to monitor people in this way and to control debate on the Internet, I'm afraid that there are people in the United States who see what's happening in China and who don't draw back in horror because of the violation of freedom and human liberty.
00:15:54.740 They actually think it's a good system.
00:15:58.220 The World Economic Forum people, for example, would be drawn to this model.
00:16:05.460 And so I think the ultimate goal here is we thought 40 years ago that when we opened to China, that if we simply traded with China, if we invested in China, if we showed China the way to a modern democracy that respects human rights and human rights,
00:16:24.740 that the Chinese Communist Party, that the Chinese Communist Party would gradually evolve into a party that would allow perhaps respect for human rights and would allow competing political parties, perhaps even elections.

00:16:42.360 Instead of China becoming more like us, we are becoming more like China day by day. 0.97
00:16:48.620 And I'm actually someone who spent the last 40 years of his life following the brutal one party dictatorship that rules China with an iron hand that is responsible for 100 million deaths in China, in purge after purge, in occasional famines, which is responsible for the killing of 400 million unborn children.

00:17:22.620 And I would presume that was some of the same thought that went into the Vatican's deal with China, try to appease them and work with them so as to kind of bring them along or at least, you know, live there peaceably or whatever.

00:18:07.400 So the Sino-Vatican agreement, which was supposed to allow the pope to appoint new bishops for the 40 or so empty seas in China, where the people did need Catholic shepherds, has not resulted in the appointment of new bishops.

00:18:30.240 The last couple, of course, have been appointed by the Chinese Communist Party, which only later said to the Vatican, oh, by the way, we put in a new bishop in Shanghai.

00:19:06.060 And it has not served to either provide new bishops for the church in China or to provide a kind of safe space for Catholics in China because the walls are still closing in.
00:19:18.000 There were new regulations just announced a few days ago, and the controls on religious activity in China are getting tighter and tighter and tighter.

00:19:32.280 The end game in China is to replace all religion with faith in the Chinese Communist Party, 0.90

00:23:27.380 we have to take him at his word because they are moving on all fronts to try to achieve those goals.
00:23:37.040 Now, communism is an ideology that has killed more people than any idea in human history.
00:23:47.260 It is, in my view, diabolically inspired, which accounts for the fact that communism always kills.
00:23:56.100 Communism sometimes kills slowly, as it did over the 36 years of the one-child policy,
00:24:02.620 where every year it was killing 10 million or so unborn Chinese baby girls and boys.
00:24:08.640 Sometimes it kills quickly, as it does in revolutions, as it does in purges, as it did during the famine after the Great Leap Forward,
00:24:19.140 when 50 million people died of starvation over the course of about 24 months.

00:24:26.660 And one of the things that it has done in China, John Henry, is it has actually now reduced the population of China. 0.51

00:25:53.680 The leaders of the Chinese Communist Party, people need to understand that these are not people who are selflessly serving the people of China.

00:26:03.480 Chairman Mao, from the very beginning, when foreign reporters would visit, he would be wearing patched clothes,
00:26:12.780 and he would be pretending to live in a little house, not all that different from the little homes that the ordinary peasants live in.

00:26:26.420 He always had servants.
00:26:27.840 He had grooms for his horse.

00:26:43.320 The premier of China, from 2002 to 2012, was a gentleman named Wen Xiaobao.
00:26:51.380 Premier Wen, on a salary of $5,000 a month, left office with a fortune of $2.7 billion that he collected in bribes
00:27:02.820 from people wanting to be promoted to provincial party secretary, wanted to get an extra, generals who wanted to get an extra star
00:27:10.700 to go from lieutenant, you know, major general, lieutenant general, up to full general.
00:27:16.260 It is a system of corrupt control of the population.
00:27:23.180 The Chinese Communist Party, 94 million members strong, consumes about one third of all the wealth of China each year.
