The John-Henry Westen Show - Did You Know There Are Different Levels in Heaven？ Here's The Secret to Getting Up Higher

00:00:00.140 Every day brings the opportunity for us to attain greater glory in heaven through the love of God,

00:00:06.880 who will reward every one of us for every action performed for the love of Him.

00:00:20.460 Do you know that there's different levels in heaven?

00:00:23.180 No, seriously, when you die, you don't just go to heaven and you're just at the same level.

00:00:28.800 Remember our Lord, the two apostles came to Him and said,

00:00:33.180 Hey, by the way, the mom came and said, 0.99

00:00:35.520 Can one of my sons sit on your right and one on your left in your kingdom?

00:00:39.180 Why? Because there's actually levels in heaven.

00:00:41.480 In fact, the levels are so different in heaven that they compare it to,

00:00:48.200 well, you're always going to be happy in heaven, right?

00:00:50.160 So let's compare it to a bucket.

00:00:52.340 Whenever that bucket is full, it's full. You can't get any more in it.

00:00:55.560 Your happiness is totally complete.

00:00:56.920 However, there are different sized buckets, aren't there?

00:01:00.040 You know, a bucket might be the size of a thimble,

00:01:02.580 a little thimble that you put on your finger when you're sewing.

00:01:05.100 That tiny little thing, the bucket's full. 0.75

00:01:07.340 That's all you can get in there.

00:01:08.820 You know what they call Our Lady? 1.00

00:01:10.360 They call Our Lady the ocean, the sea.

00:01:14.380 So that's the kind of difference.

00:01:17.380 Let's get into that on this special episode of The John Henry Weston Show.

00:04:01.400 And that is all you need to do.

00:04:03.580 In the name of the Father, the Son, Holy Ghost.

00:04:09.620 Amen.

00:04:10.900 So, this is a quote from the Scriptures

00:04:14.040 that actually touches on this.

00:04:16.300 It's from 1 Corinthians.

00:04:18.500 You'll read it says,

00:04:19.540 One is the glory of the sun,

00:04:22.360 another the glory of the moon,

00:04:24.280 another the glory of the stars,

00:04:25.780 for the stars differ from one another in glory.

00:04:29.120 So also is the resurrection of the dead.

00:04:32.680 1 Corinthians 15, 41.

00:04:35.140 So, the writing of the Church,

00:04:38.160 the teaching of our Lord,

00:04:39.540 his apostles and the saints,

00:04:41.160 talk about these different levels,

00:04:44.240 if you will, in heaven.

00:04:46.460 At the end of time,

00:04:47.480 all the elect, that's all the saints,

00:04:49.900 all the ones who are saved,

00:04:51.220 will shine in glory before the throne of God,

00:04:53.300 but some will shine more brightly than others.

00:04:56.180 Not everyone's degree of glory will be the same.

00:04:58.920 This doctrine of the Church

00:05:00.440 may be new or surprising to some people,

00:05:02.960 but reflecting on it

00:05:04.480 can help us in our spiritual lives.

00:05:07.200 We all know that at the end of time,

00:05:08.940 there will be a fundamental separation

00:05:10.420 between the sheep and the goats,

00:05:11.800 the elect and the damned.

00:05:14.180 It will be heaven or hell for all eternity.

00:05:18.220 The fundamental joy of heaven

00:05:19.920 is the beatific vision

00:05:21.560 to see God face to face

00:05:23.140 for all eternity.

00:05:25.640 His servants, the Scriptures say,

00:05:27.660 His servants shall serve Him

00:05:29.360 and they shall see His face

00:05:30.880 and His name shall be on their foreheads

00:05:33.160 and night shall be no more

00:05:35.880 and they shall not need

00:05:37.900 the light of the lamp

00:05:39.320 nor the light of the sun

00:05:40.780 because the Lord God

00:05:42.460 shall enlighten them

00:05:43.780 and they shall reign forever and ever.

00:05:46.700 We read from Revelations.

00:05:49.040 Now, in the sight of God,

00:05:51.240 redeemed mankind

00:05:51.940 will find eternal bliss.

00:05:54.600 Things no eye has seen,

00:05:56.480 no ear has heard,

00:05:57.560 nor human heart conceived,

00:05:59.120 the welcome God has prepared

00:06:00.600 for those who love Him.

00:06:02.260 You'll read that in 1 Corinthians.

00:06:04.600 So, on the other hand though,

00:06:06.760 there is the fundamental horror of hell.

00:06:10.720 It's to be separated from God

00:06:12.400 for all eternity

00:06:13.160 and never to attain the destiny

00:06:15.580 for which we were in fact created.

00:06:17.600 All souls in heaven

00:06:19.360 are perfectly happy,

00:06:21.320 but not every soul in heaven

00:06:23.660 has the same degree of glory.

00:06:27.500 So, some souls

00:06:29.220 are granted a greater participation

00:06:31.780 in the beatific vision,

00:06:33.080 as it's known,

00:06:33.840 in the light of glory

00:06:35.660 more than others.

00:06:37.800 This is because

00:06:39.360 while all the elect,

00:06:41.360 that means all the saved,

00:06:42.720 died loving God,

00:06:44.680 some loved Him more than others.

00:06:47.880 The more love,

00:06:49.660 the more glory.

00:06:51.240 St. Thomas Aquinas wrote on this saying,

00:06:53.140 He shares more fully

00:06:55.000 in the light of glory

00:06:56.220 who possesses the greater love.

00:06:58.560 He who has more love

00:07:01.100 will see God more perfectly

00:07:02.820 and be more blessed.

00:07:04.320 The greatest degree

00:07:07.320 of glory in heaven

00:07:08.380 belongs to Our Lady,

00:07:09.960 Queen of Heaven,

00:07:10.680 because she loved God the most.

00:07:13.620 Every day

00:07:14.340 brings the opportunity

00:07:15.400 for us

00:07:16.320 to attain greater glory in heaven

00:07:18.060 through the love of God,

00:07:20.240 who will reward

00:07:21.220 every one of us

00:07:22.580 for every action

00:07:24.640 performed

00:07:25.440 for the love of Him.

00:07:27.460 In fact,

00:07:28.100 so great

00:07:28.940 is God's love for us

00:07:30.340 that first

00:07:31.600 He gives us the grace

00:07:32.960 to be able to love Him,

00:07:34.000 and then,

00:07:35.020 second,

00:07:35.720 He rewards us

00:07:36.660 for cooperating

00:07:37.640 with that grace.

00:07:39.460 So it's impossible

00:07:41.000 to merit

00:07:41.920 anything from God

00:07:43.260 except by means

00:07:44.820 of the grace

00:07:45.460 which He bestows on us.

00:07:47.360 So,

00:07:47.860 if we want to be

00:07:49.420 more closely

00:07:50.260 united to God

00:07:51.360 in the beatific vision,

00:07:52.780 what should we do

00:07:53.480 here on earth?

00:07:54.100 Well, first of all,

00:07:54.920 we must stay

00:07:55.820 in friendship with Him.

00:07:56.940 That's the most important thing,

00:07:57.940 in the state

00:07:58.660 of sanctifying grace.

00:08:00.220 And you lose that,

00:08:01.440 remember,

00:08:01.800 if you commit

00:08:02.580 an immortal sin

00:08:03.160 for which you have

00:08:04.040 to go to confession

00:08:05.100 before you can get back

00:08:06.000 into that state

00:08:06.840 of sanctifying grace.

00:08:07.960 Christ Himself said it.

00:08:09.080 He said,

00:08:09.740 as the branch

00:08:10.640 cannot bear the fruit

00:08:11.640 of itself

00:08:12.540 unless it abide

00:08:13.980 in the vine,

00:08:14.800 so neither can you

00:08:15.940 unless you abide

00:08:17.060 in Me.

00:08:18.220 The only way

00:08:18.840 to abide in Jesus

00:08:20.180 is to stay

00:08:21.080 in the state of grace.

00:08:22.560 And St. Paul

00:08:23.120 tells us that as well.

00:08:24.140 He says,

00:08:24.580 quote,

00:08:24.700 if I should have prophecy

00:08:27.320 and should know

00:08:28.580 all mysteries

00:08:29.740 and all knowledge

00:08:30.740 and have not charity,

00:08:31.640 that means the love of God

00:08:32.500 that's abiding with Christ,

00:08:34.280 I am nothing.

00:08:36.120 And if I should distribute

00:08:37.640 all my goods

00:08:38.520 to feed the poor

00:08:39.580 and if I should deliver 1.00

00:08:40.600 my body to be burned

00:08:42.020 and have not charity,

00:08:44.000 it profits me nothing.

00:08:46.840 Now,

00:08:47.280 the state of charity

00:08:48.180 and the state

00:08:49.380 of sanctifying grace

00:08:50.180 are one

00:08:50.920 and the same thing.

00:08:52.560 So that means

00:08:53.460 if someone

00:08:55.620 outside of the state

00:08:57.020 of grace

00:08:57.400 having committed

00:08:58.520 a mortal sin

00:08:59.100 is running around

00:09:00.080 doing all these

00:09:00.620 wonderful charitable works,

00:09:02.540 even if he were

00:09:03.180 sincere in them,

00:09:04.100 they wouldn't merit

00:09:05.040 a thing

00:09:05.760 in the life of heaven.

00:09:08.900 Only those

00:09:10.020 acting in the state

00:09:11.080 of grace

00:09:11.460 can merit anything

00:09:12.500 in heaven.

00:09:13.200 So unless we abide

00:09:14.200 in Christ

00:09:14.660 by His divine charity,

00:09:16.820 we cannot perform

00:09:18.100 meritorious acts,

00:09:19.980 acts that will

00:09:20.900 gain us

00:09:21.860 levels in heaven,

00:09:23.200 if you will.

00:09:23.960 But if we are

00:09:25.180 in the state of grace,

00:09:26.240 then every single

00:09:27.280 morally good act

00:09:28.200 that we perform

00:09:28.780 without exception

00:09:29.860 is meritorious

00:09:31.080 and will increase

00:09:32.320 our degree of glory

00:09:33.680 in heaven.

00:09:34.120 Remember,

00:09:34.680 Jesus Himself said,

00:09:35.780 even if you give them,

00:09:37.260 one of my followers,

00:09:38.040 a cup of water,

00:09:40.220 you will still

00:09:40.940 get your reward.

00:09:42.000 So that difference

00:09:43.860 is huge,

00:09:44.620 but it's something

00:09:45.140 that every calculating

00:09:46.380 person should pay

00:09:48.080 attention to.

00:09:48.520 Gosh,

00:09:48.840 if we're investing

00:09:49.940 in things on earth

00:09:50.680 for long-term gain,

00:09:51.860 and we're sacrificing

00:09:53.080 and doing all sorts

00:09:53.980 of things for that

00:09:55.140 long-term reward

00:09:56.240 at the end

00:09:56.880 or whenever,

00:09:58.240 wow,

00:09:59.780 this investment

00:10:00.740 is worth much more.

00:10:01.820 In fact,

00:10:02.900 a little,

00:10:03.540 comparatively,

00:10:04.200 little investment

00:10:04.900 here gains us

00:10:06.520 eternal glory.

00:10:09.360 So,

00:10:10.340 that calculus,

00:10:11.460 for anybody

00:10:11.960 with a business mind,

00:10:12.980 you've got to be

00:10:13.460 thinking of that

00:10:13.960 because it makes

00:10:14.520 no sense

00:10:15.160 not to think

00:10:15.640 about that.

00:10:16.000 truth has a power

00:10:17.320 of its own.

00:10:18.720 It moves hearts

00:10:19.400 and saves lives.

00:10:21.280 It heals wounds

00:10:22.160 and restores souls,

00:10:23.900 but only if it is heard.

00:10:26.380 That's why our enemies

00:10:27.680 are working nonstop

00:10:29.020 to suppress the truth.

00:10:30.420 That's why LifeSite News

00:10:31.520 is the most censored

00:10:32.980 life, faith,

00:10:33.660 and family news source

00:10:34.760 in the world.

00:10:35.980 They are working

00:10:36.760 to keep you

00:10:37.620 in the dark.

00:10:38.700 They are working

00:10:39.280 overtime

00:10:39.900 to make you feel

00:10:41.040 alone and forgotten.

00:10:42.680 But God says,

00:10:43.640 I will never forget you.

00:10:45.800 God never leaves us

00:10:46.880 without hope

00:10:47.520 of victory.

00:10:48.820 And LifeSite News

00:10:49.520 will never stop

00:10:50.520 sharing the truth

00:10:51.500 that sets us free.

00:10:53.140 We will tell the truth

00:10:54.580 without fear.

00:10:55.600 We will tell the truth

00:10:56.660 without compromise.

00:10:58.280 And as mainstream

00:10:59.120 platforms silence us,

00:11:00.960 we will build

00:11:01.720 our own.

00:11:02.900 That's why I'm pleased

00:11:04.100 to announce today

00:11:05.320 the launch

00:11:05.920 of the new

00:11:06.920 LSN TV app

00:11:27.660 A morally good act

00:11:29.200 is an act

00:11:29.960 which accords

00:11:30.860 with reason,

00:11:31.780 with the eternal

00:11:32.680 law of God,

00:11:33.520 and which directs

00:11:35.040 the whole universe

00:11:35.980 and which we come

00:11:37.220 to know

00:11:37.680 through the natural law

00:11:39.000 written in our hearts

00:11:39.980 and through the divine law

00:11:41.760 revealed by God

00:11:43.060 to the Catholic Church.

00:11:44.400 When a person

00:11:45.220 is in the state

00:11:45.980 of grace,

00:11:47.120 all morally good acts

00:11:48.600 increase his or her

00:11:50.240 friendship with God

00:11:51.140 and the state

00:11:51.980 of glory in heaven.

00:11:53.120 A morally bad act,

00:11:55.340 that's an act

00:11:56.120 which goes against

00:11:57.080 reason,

00:11:58.020 an act which

00:11:58.720 goes against

00:12:01.020 the voice of God

00:12:01.760 made known to us

00:12:03.260 by our conscience

00:12:04.960 and by the teaching

00:12:06.160 of the Church.

00:12:06.840 all morally bad acts

00:12:10.180 damage our friendship

00:12:11.520 with God

00:12:12.100 and deserve to be punished

00:12:13.780 by his divine justice.

00:12:14.800 Now, some morally bad acts

00:12:16.540 are incompatible

00:12:18.340 with remaining

00:12:19.060 in his friendship.

00:12:19.820 That's what we call

00:12:20.300 mortal sin.

00:12:21.400 These are mortal sins

00:12:22.940 that separate us

00:12:24.140 from God.

00:12:25.000 And that's why

00:12:25.900 the mortal sin

00:12:27.020 kicks God 0.94

00:12:28.080 out of your life.

00:12:29.240 That's why you need

00:12:30.260 to go to confession

00:12:31.040 to regain that friendship

00:12:32.640 with him.

00:12:33.300 That's why

00:12:33.900 you need to

00:12:35.160 be in the state

00:12:37.240 of sanctifying grace

00:12:38.140 in order to have

00:12:38.880 any meritorious acts.

00:12:40.760 Therefore,

00:12:41.500 every free action

00:12:42.660 performed by a person

00:12:44.280 in the state of grace

00:12:45.260 does one of three things.

00:12:46.360 Now, every free action,

00:12:47.740 that means every good action

00:12:48.700 or bad action

00:12:49.620 performed by a person

00:12:51.080 still in the state of grace,

00:12:52.640 that means they're not

00:12:53.540 in mortal sin.

00:12:54.680 But every action,

00:12:56.460 free action,

00:12:57.080 performed by a person

00:12:57.960 in the state of grace

00:12:58.760 does one of these things.

00:13:00.740 Number one,

00:13:01.820 if it's a morally good act,

00:13:03.000 it increases our friendship

00:13:04.660 with God

00:13:05.200 and our glory in heaven.

00:13:06.660 Number two,

00:13:07.760 a morally bad act

00:13:10.420 will damage our friendship

00:13:12.380 with God

00:13:13.020 and it would be

00:13:14.140 a venial sin.

00:13:15.720 Or number three,

00:13:16.940 it's a morally bad act

00:13:19.220 that would destroy

00:13:20.680 our friendship with God

00:13:21.980 and this is a mortal sin.

00:13:24.780 The soul which dies

00:13:26.740 in mortal sin

00:13:27.600 will go to hell. 0.99

00:13:29.380 And none of its merits 0.85

00:13:31.540 will do any good

00:13:33.160 will do any good

00:13:33.180 at all.

00:13:34.620 So,

00:13:35.140 if you die in mortal sin,

00:13:37.160 all the good

00:13:38.060 that you did

00:13:38.780 in your life

00:13:39.720 won't do you any good.

00:13:41.540 But it's essential,

00:13:42.960 therefore,

00:13:43.280 to remain

00:13:43.860 in the state of grace,

00:13:45.220 in God's grace,

00:13:45.940 by not committing mortal sin.

00:13:47.260 That's how serious it is

00:13:48.340 because every good act

00:13:49.780 you've done

00:13:50.200 is just gone.

00:13:52.240 But even if we do

00:13:53.920 commit a mortal sin,

00:13:55.460 don't despair

00:13:57.040 like Judas did. 0.85

00:13:57.920 Don't kill yourself 0.75

00:13:58.740 and think it's all useless. 0.93

00:13:59.600 Now,

00:14:00.000 no,

00:14:00.680 actually.

00:14:01.840 Instead,

00:14:02.460 immediately beg God

00:14:03.840 for mercy

00:14:04.280 and for the grace

00:14:05.160 of repentance

00:14:05.620 and go to confession

00:14:06.540 as soon as you can.

00:14:07.480 Because get this,

00:14:08.900 God is so good

00:14:10.380 and merciful

00:14:11.280 that when the soul

00:14:13.500 in mortal sin

00:14:14.220 repents,

00:14:15.380 God not only

00:14:16.440 forgives the person

00:14:17.580 their sins,

00:14:19.100 but

00:14:19.460 He actually

00:14:20.840 goes back

00:14:22.420 and gets

00:14:22.760 all your merits

00:14:23.840 that you lost

00:14:24.680 and applies them

00:14:26.420 back to you again.

00:14:27.400 So,

00:14:29.380 there is a wonderful truth

00:14:31.500 that we should think

00:14:32.440 about often.

00:14:34.060 Every ordinary action

00:14:35.620 we perform

00:14:36.220 is meritorious

00:14:37.280 if we are in the state

00:14:38.700 of sanctifying grace

00:14:39.680 and will remain

00:14:41.440 for our eternal happiness

00:14:43.540 and it will make it greater.

00:14:45.020 That's why

00:14:45.620 St. Teresa,

00:14:46.780 the little flowers,

00:14:47.640 all these little things

00:14:48.880 we do,

00:14:49.240 do for God.

00:14:50.200 Because the smallest act

00:14:52.240 can be so meritorious.

00:14:54.260 That's why Our Lady

00:14:55.400 lived as saint.

00:14:57.520 How could the greatest saint

00:14:58.700 ever

00:14:59.180 been nothing more

00:15:01.020 than,

00:15:01.620 you know,

00:15:01.960 a little child

00:15:02.540 growing up

00:15:03.200 in the temple

00:15:03.740 and whatever

00:15:04.320 and a mother

00:15:06.180 and housewife 1.00

00:15:07.280 for her whole life

00:15:08.220 and yet she's

00:15:09.040 the greatest saint

00:15:10.200 who ever lived

00:15:10.760 because these tiny

00:15:12.420 little acts

00:15:13.280 performed for the love

00:15:14.100 of God

00:15:14.460 can be greater

00:15:15.480 than just about

00:15:16.520 anything else.

00:15:18.400 Simple,

00:15:19.460 daily tasks

00:15:20.400 increase

00:15:21.140 our eternal bliss

00:15:22.320 if done in friendship

00:15:23.580 with God.

00:15:24.840 However,

00:15:25.700 not all actions

00:15:26.760 are equally meritorious.

00:15:28.360 The degree of merit

00:15:29.320 depends on

00:15:30.320 how much love

00:15:31.640 we have for God.

00:15:33.300 The more love,

00:15:34.440 the more the merit.

00:15:35.900 So,

00:15:36.500 we must do

00:15:37.480 the things

00:15:38.220 which will increase

00:15:39.260 our love for Him

00:15:40.060 and this means,

00:15:41.300 first and foremost,

00:15:42.180 to pray.

00:15:43.220 Every true prayer

00:15:44.160 draws us closer to God

00:15:45.300 and increases the love

00:15:46.640 for God in our souls.

00:15:48.860 The meritorious nature

00:15:50.060 of prayer

00:15:50.640 is made clear

00:15:52.240 by one of the

00:15:53.520 fifteen promises

00:15:54.520 of the Rosary

00:15:55.260 traditionally held

00:15:56.140 to have been delivered

00:15:57.060 to Alain de Roche,

00:15:58.140 Saint Alain de Roche.

00:15:59.120 It reads in a quote,

00:16:00.500 The faithful children

00:16:01.360 of the Rosary

00:16:02.000 shall merit

00:16:02.560 a high degree

00:16:03.660 of glory in heaven.

00:16:04.640 End quote.

00:16:05.760 And in order to help us

00:16:07.000 grow in love,

00:16:08.080 God has ordained

00:16:09.260 the sacraments.

00:16:11.140 First and foremost,

00:16:12.320 the most important thing

00:16:13.440 we can do

00:16:13.960 is frequent attendance

00:16:15.640 at Mass,

00:16:16.820 reception of Holy Communion

00:16:17.860 and, of course,

00:16:19.060 regular confession.

00:16:20.700 They're the

00:16:21.360 indispensable means

00:16:22.780 of grace.

00:16:23.460 And if you're only

00:16:24.200 going to do one thing

00:16:24.920 in your life,

00:16:25.480 go to Mass

00:16:25.960 because that is

00:16:27.200 the pinnacle

00:16:28.160 of the Church's sacraments.

00:16:30.360 Now, in fact,

00:16:31.660 the Church has

00:16:32.540 a treasury

00:16:33.440 of means

00:16:34.300 to help us grow

00:16:35.280 in love for God.

00:16:36.820 The sacraments,

00:16:37.980 sacramentals,

00:16:39.100 prayers,

00:16:40.000 sacred scriptures,

00:16:41.200 relics,

00:16:41.860 pilgrimages,

00:16:42.800 the writings

00:16:43.220 of the fathers,

00:16:44.040 the doctors,

00:16:44.700 the theologians,

00:16:45.460 the saints,

00:16:46.020 and much, much more.

00:16:47.860 We must make use

00:16:49.200 of these things.

00:16:50.200 And we mustn't forget

00:16:51.360 that the merits

00:16:52.380 of the saved,

00:16:54.020 the elect,

00:16:54.860 don't just benefit them.

00:16:57.100 The treasury of Christ

00:16:58.440 and his saints

00:16:59.080 are available to us

00:17:00.740 and the holy souls

00:17:01.960 in purgatory

00:17:02.440 to wipe out

00:17:03.660 the remaining

00:17:04.500 temporal punishment

00:17:05.600 that is due

00:17:06.260 for our venial sins,

00:17:08.620 our absolved

00:17:09.480 mortal sins.

00:17:10.900 God in his mercy

00:17:11.880 will look

00:17:12.700 on their merits,

00:17:13.740 the merits of the saints,

00:17:14.860 our ladies, 0.68

00:17:15.360 and all the great saints

00:17:16.620 and remit

00:17:17.720 our punishments

00:17:18.720 and do away

00:17:19.700 with our punishment

00:17:20.480 due to our sins

00:17:21.200 for a small act

00:17:23.020 of love on our part.

00:17:24.500 These small acts

00:17:25.840 of love

00:17:26.220 are called indulgences.

00:17:28.140 And we can obtain

00:17:29.480 indulgences

00:17:30.240 for ourselves

00:17:30.960 and for the holy souls

00:17:32.320 in purgatory.

00:17:33.180 And really for the souls

00:17:33.920 in purgatory,

00:17:34.520 they can't do it

00:17:35.180 for themselves.

00:17:35.860 They can pray for us,

00:17:36.820 but God has it

00:17:38.260 so we're the only ones

00:17:39.940 who can pray for them.

00:17:41.420 And God left this

00:17:42.480 to us so we develop,

00:17:43.940 even here on earth,

00:17:44.680 this kind of friendship

00:17:45.680 with the souls

00:17:46.580 in purgatory.

00:17:47.120 Imagine how grateful

00:17:47.780 they're going to be

00:17:48.320 because our prayers

00:17:49.860 for them lessened

00:17:50.600 their time of suffering

00:17:51.380 in purgatory.

00:17:52.200 When we get to heaven

00:17:53.400 and see them,

00:17:54.920 they're going to be

00:17:55.300 your best friends.

00:17:57.180 So in this way,

00:17:59.160 the glory of the saints

00:18:00.120 is not just

00:18:02.280 for their good,

00:18:03.500 but for the good

00:18:04.280 of all of the church,

00:18:06.140 including us

00:18:07.300 here on earth.

00:18:08.740 St. Thomas Aquinas

00:18:09.680 taught,

00:18:10.260 and I quote,

00:18:11.080 the abundance

00:18:11.720 of those merits

00:18:12.880 is so great,

00:18:13.920 that's the merits

00:18:14.300 of the saints

00:18:14.800 is so great

00:18:16.020 as to surpass

00:18:16.780 all temporal punishment

00:18:18.200 due from the faithful

00:18:19.520 on earth

00:18:19.900 and that particularly

00:18:21.560 owing to the merit

00:18:23.080 of Christ.

00:18:24.080 End quote.

00:18:24.740 He added,

00:18:26.020 the saints,

00:18:26.760 whose satisfactory works

00:18:28.540 are super abundant,

00:18:30.080 did not perform them

00:18:31.240 for one particular person,

00:18:34.160 but in general

00:18:34.940 for the whole church,

00:18:35.680 according to the words

00:18:36.520 of St. Paul,

00:18:37.300 and I quote,

00:18:37.820 I rejoice in my sufferings

00:18:39.960 on your behalf

00:18:40.840 and make up

00:18:41.920 in my flesh

00:18:42.780 what is lacking

00:18:43.620 in the sufferings

00:18:44.260 of Christ

00:18:44.680 on behalf of his body,

00:18:46.340 which is the church,

00:18:47.140 and so these merits

00:18:48.640 become the property

00:18:49.540 of the whole church.

00:18:51.540 End quote.

00:18:52.500 Truly,

00:18:53.040 the Catholic Church

00:18:53.620 is a communion

00:18:54.560 of the saints

00:18:55.600 and has all the means

00:18:57.300 to free us from sin

00:18:58.280 and give us

00:18:58.840 great glory in heaven.

00:19:00.540 But let us make use

00:19:02.080 of the means

00:19:02.900 she gives us.

00:19:04.020 Remember,

00:19:04.740 you don't want to be

00:19:05.780 so much like the thimble

00:19:07.220 when you get to heaven.

00:19:08.540 You want to be

00:19:09.540 very much close

00:19:10.800 to Our Lady

00:19:11.740 who is the ocean

00:19:12.620 or the sea.

00:19:13.900 For Life's 8 News,
