00:00:00.000 Hi. Hi, Ann. Hi.
00:00:04.000 It's so good to see you. Congratulations.
00:00:08.000 Oh, yes. Hi.
00:00:12.000 I know he's your husband, but he's my son.
00:00:16.000 I have chills. I can't. That I get
00:00:20.000 to wake up and wear this every day. I don't know.
00:00:24.000 God knows I'm not the type to be a religious. He knows I'm
00:00:28.000 a New York Jew and a businesswoman.
00:00:36.000 Without LifeSite, we wouldn't
00:00:40.000 be here. And without LifeSite, nobody would know what's happening
00:00:44.000 in the world anyway, the truth of it. So, because
00:00:48.000 of your video, John Henry, and all the people who responded to the LifeFunder,
00:00:52.000 whether it was directly through the LifeFunder or directly to us,
00:00:56.000 we are here because of LifeSite news.
00:01:00.000 So,
00:01:02.000 you made us love you.
00:01:04.000 We didn't want- No, I'm kidding. Don't, don't.
00:01:06.000 So,
00:01:08.000 this is gorgeous in here. So, this is all
00:01:10.000 wood and pine. And
00:01:12.000 this is going to be our reception area.
00:01:14.000 All that.
00:01:16.000 And, I don't look like I'm excited. Do I come this way?
00:01:20.000 You don't have to video the restrooms, but there's restrooms here.
00:01:26.000 This is a makeshift chapel. Our Lord is on the altar.
00:01:32.000 Here's on the altar.
00:01:46.000 Okay.
00:01:48.000 This will be my office.
00:02:12.000 You see, I normally keep a very clear, wonderful desk.
00:02:20.000 So, we're unpacking. We're not packed yet. We've got a million things going on.
00:02:24.000 So, this is- I have to take this with me, and I have to take this with me.
00:02:28.000 Oh. Oh, good. Okay. Thank you, Diane.
00:02:32.000 So, we're thrilled. We have everything. Someone volunteered. A gentleman came and set up internet for us.
00:02:38.000 Oh, beautiful.
00:02:40.000 It's just fantastic.
00:02:42.000 Oh, you know what? The people, friends of ours, they're living in the house on the property.
00:02:48.000 Because our mother married him the Lamb of God, and the Lamb is my life.
00:02:52.000 We came in, and there were these things, lambs, all over the place.
00:02:56.000 So sweet. With their children, they made them.
00:02:59.000 Oh, that's great.
00:03:00.000 And this will be a little parlor in back of you.
00:03:09.000 And all these sisters live here.
00:03:12.000 I have my friend, Nancy, visiting from North Carolina.
00:03:17.000 We were in Protestant Seminary together.
00:03:20.000 Oh, really?
00:03:21.000 And we graduated, and then we tried to save each other, but we both won, so.
00:03:29.000 Yeah.
00:03:30.000 Yeah.
00:03:31.000 When I first told her that Catholics could be Christians, too.
00:03:34.000 Ah.
00:03:35.000 Yeah, right.
00:03:36.000 Now she's one.
00:03:37.000 Now she's a Catholic, too.
00:03:38.000 Yeah.
00:03:39.000 Yeah.
00:03:40.000 And...
00:03:41.000 Quite a few in the room.
00:03:42.000 My wife, too.
00:03:43.000 You can jump home.
00:03:44.000 I know.
00:03:45.000 I know.
00:03:46.000 Eileen is visiting with us.
00:03:48.000 She's a treasure.
00:03:49.000 Okay.
00:03:50.000 Okay.
00:03:51.000 So, this is...
00:03:52.000 We closed the door because it's beautiful in here.
00:03:55.000 It's just gonna be...
00:03:56.000 There's no light.
00:03:57.000 There's gonna...
00:03:58.000 It's gonna be a huge...
00:03:59.000 It's filled with cartons.
00:04:00.000 It's gonna be a work room.
00:04:01.000 We're gonna sew our habits.
00:04:02.000 Oh, wow.
00:04:03.000 All of that, so.
00:04:08.000 And all the furniture was left here.
00:04:11.000 Everything on the walls.
00:04:12.000 Really?
00:04:13.000 We'll take it off and make it Catholic, but everything was left here for us except the statues.
00:04:18.000 This is gonna be our community room.
00:04:20.000 Oh, wow.
00:04:21.000 And we could raise the ceiling at seven feet if we want, which we do.
00:04:26.000 Wow.
00:04:27.000 And just everything is here for us.
00:04:30.000 Okay.
00:04:31.000 I promised you ten minutes, St. Therese.
00:04:34.000 All of this was here.
00:04:35.000 See, there's another one.
00:04:36.000 They're all over the place.
00:04:37.000 And this is gonna be our refectory.
00:04:40.000 We'll break through the wall with a couple more windows.
00:04:43.000 Oh, beautiful.
00:04:45.000 Look at this place, and St. Joseph is ours.
00:04:52.000 Now, a priest came to visit us, and he said, this is your chapel.
00:05:01.000 And I think we're gonna do it.
00:05:03.000 Wow.
00:05:04.000 Because the ceiling's already high.
00:05:06.000 Would anyone like chandeliers?
00:05:07.000 You could have them.
00:05:08.000 Yeah.
00:05:09.000 But we'll make this into a beautiful, beautiful chapel, and people could come in from the
00:05:14.000 outside.
00:05:15.000 And this is a temporary refectory.
00:05:17.000 Beautiful.
00:05:18.000 So.
00:05:19.000 Now, I'll show you-
00:05:21.000 All the furniture was left in here?
00:05:24.000 Like the bookshelves?
00:05:25.000 The bookshelves were handmade, and they're ours.
00:05:27.000 They were handmade for us in Oklahoma.
00:05:29.000 There's a few pieces of furniture that are ours, but it's all left here.
00:05:33.000 None of this.
00:05:34.000 This table is ours, but it was given to us.
00:05:39.000 Furniture, and the next building is a lodge.
00:05:42.000 Yeah.
00:05:43.000 With eight rooms.
00:05:44.000 It was two double beds in each room, and a bathroom.
00:05:48.000 So, the owners who sold us this, I said, we don't need the double beds.
00:05:53.000 Can you use them?
00:05:54.000 She said, well, we can.
00:05:55.000 And she replaced them, instead of two, four, six, eight, sixteen double beds, she replaced
00:06:02.000 them with sixteen single beds for us.
00:06:04.000 Put them all together.
00:06:06.000 It's fantastic.
00:06:07.000 Wow.
00:06:08.000 It's so great.
00:06:09.000 And this is the only statue we got for us.
00:06:12.000 Saint Benedictine.
00:06:13.000 Because we're Benedictines.
00:06:15.000 And you know his story.
00:06:17.000 Here's the rule.
00:06:18.000 Here's the cup that broke when he blessed it, because his monks wanted to poison him.
00:06:21.000 Yeah.
00:06:22.000 And the raven that fed him.
00:06:25.000 Hey, my friends.
00:06:26.000 Now is the time to stand up and fight.
00:06:28.000 We are just about to have the Synod on Synodality.
00:06:32.000 And everything that you've seen indicates that it's going to be an absolute disaster.
00:06:37.000 We have Father James Martin as a personal appointee of the Pope speaking at it.
00:06:43.000 We've got Cardinal Cupich, Cardinal Tobin.
00:06:46.000 These picks of the Pope to engage in this Synod are indicative of where we're going.
00:06:53.000 We're going into heresy.
00:06:55.000 And at these times of great crisis, the church, especially those called in the laity to work
00:07:03.000 for the glory of Christ in his church, are called to gather and strategize.
00:07:09.000 Back in 2014, LifeSite launched something called Rome Life Forum.
00:07:13.000 It was a gathering at that point of some 75 life and family leaders from all around the world
00:07:19.000 to strategize as to what we could do.
00:07:22.000 And when we gathered, the majority of people were most concerned about what?
00:07:26.000 About Pope Francis, about what was going on in Rome.
00:07:30.000 But this was 2014.
00:07:32.000 But the life and family leaders saw it first.
00:07:36.000 Now, a decade on, we are confronted with some of the most severe challenges the church has ever faced.
00:07:43.000 And so our tradition at LifeSite is to continue with Rome Life Forum,
00:07:47.000 which has continued every year until we had to take a break over COVID because we weren't permitted.
00:07:53.000 But we're starting it up again.
00:07:55.000 Please come, if you feel so called, to Rome, October 31st and November 1st,
00:08:02.000 the very end of the Synod on Synodality.
00:08:05.000 And we'll be there to strategize with His Eminence, with His Excellency,
00:08:10.000 and with many life and family leaders from around the world.
00:08:14.000 For LifeSite News, this is John Henry Weston.
00:08:16.000 And may God bless you.
00:08:18.000 And this is a fairly small kitchen.
00:08:24.000 Can you believe this?
00:08:27.000 No, you're not.
00:08:28.000 Where would we ever have something like this?
00:08:30.000 It used to be an event center.
00:08:31.000 Oh, Mother, you're getting ready for a lot of sisters.
00:08:34.000 Well, 30 to begin.
00:08:37.000 But I think we need...
00:08:38.000 Just 30 already?
00:08:39.000 Oh, no way.
00:08:40.000 Oh, no way.
00:08:41.000 We were, you know, put out of a couple of dioceses.
00:08:44.000 Yeah.
00:08:45.000 So we could not...
00:08:46.000 We were forbidden in Oklahoma to go forward or take anybody.
00:08:49.000 The sisters left.
00:08:50.000 Sister Gertrude Marie...
00:08:51.000 How many sisters left at that time?
00:08:53.000 Well, six.
00:08:55.000 Okay.
00:08:56.000 And we only had seven because we were in a house.
00:08:58.000 Yeah.
00:08:59.000 And now we have six.
00:09:00.000 Yeah.
00:09:01.000 But over 50 waiting.
00:09:03.000 We couldn't even have anybody discern.
00:09:05.000 How many waiting?
00:09:06.000 Well, they're not waiting.
00:09:07.000 They're waiting to come and discern.
00:09:08.000 Right.
00:09:09.000 Over 50, yeah.
00:09:10.000 Over 100 have written.
00:09:11.000 Over 100 have written.
00:09:12.000 50 are waiting to discern.
00:09:13.000 Yeah.
00:09:14.000 Okay.
00:09:15.000 I know.
00:09:16.000 So...
00:09:17.000 Well, all of this was here.
00:09:19.000 Look at this.
00:09:20.000 Isn't it amazing?
00:09:22.000 And this was a freezer, a walk-in room.
00:09:26.000 Oh, my.
00:09:27.000 Oh, my.
00:09:28.000 Oh, my.
00:09:29.000 Oh, my.
00:09:30.000 John Henry, they left.
00:09:31.000 See?
00:09:32.000 All that.
00:09:33.000 All the dishes.
00:09:34.000 Everything they left for us.
00:09:35.000 Oh, my.
00:09:36.000 All this.
00:09:37.000 They left it all.
00:09:39.000 It's amazing.
00:09:41.000 It's amazing.
00:09:42.000 I would say, Mother, you're being...
00:09:43.000 You're being ready for an...
00:09:44.000 Look, an ice maker.
00:09:45.000 They left everything.
00:09:46.000 It's just amazing.
00:09:48.000 And over here...
00:09:52.000 Is a...
00:09:53.000 We're using it for storage, but it's a cooler.
00:10:05.000 Oh, it's really cool.
00:10:06.000 Wow.
00:10:07.000 Amazing.
00:10:08.000 A priest came and blessed all this water.
00:10:11.000 Oh.
00:10:12.000 You're welcome to take some.
00:10:13.000 You know what?
00:10:14.000 I will get one.
00:10:15.000 Would you please?
00:10:16.000 Oh, no.
00:10:17.000 Cold water, John Henry.
00:10:18.000 You know what?
00:10:19.000 I'm good with water.
00:10:20.000 You what?
00:10:21.000 I'm obsessed.
00:10:22.000 I went to...
00:10:23.000 You guys good or...
00:10:24.000 Yeah.
00:10:25.000 Room temperature?
00:10:26.000 Yeah.
00:10:27.000 It's blessed.
00:10:28.000 It's blessed water.
00:10:29.000 That's good.
00:10:30.000 But we have cold water, too.
00:10:32.000 Okay.
00:10:33.000 I think...
00:10:34.000 Let me see what else to show you.
00:10:36.000 Um...
00:10:37.000 That's...
00:10:38.000 That's basically it.
00:10:39.000 The outside.
00:10:40.000 The what?
00:10:41.000 The cells as well on the other side.
00:10:42.000 You do?
00:10:43.000 Yeah.
00:10:44.000 Aren't they gorgeous?
00:10:46.000 Say they're gorgeous.
00:10:47.000 They are gorgeous.
00:10:48.000 Oh.
00:10:49.000 Yeah.
00:10:50.000 These are...
00:10:51.000 Sister Gertrude Marie has been with me seven and a half, eight years.
00:10:56.000 And she's been denied her vows also.
00:10:59.000 Not even temporary vows yet.
00:11:01.000 Oh, my goodness.
00:11:02.000 We've all been.
00:11:03.000 Yeah.
00:11:04.000 So how many years has it been for you from when you were ready to now?
00:11:09.000 Um...
00:11:10.000 11...
00:11:11.000 Yeah.
00:11:12.000 12, 13, 14.
00:11:13.000 Um...
00:11:14.000 It's...
00:11:15.000 Nine years.
00:11:16.000 Yeah.
00:11:17.000 So, I mean, it's very much, to me, I was trying to think of it in layman's terms,
00:11:29.000 you're all ready for marriage, and then there's just delay, because...
00:11:34.000 And canceled, when I first met Bishop Candela, who was told to put me out.
00:11:40.000 He didn't even know who I was, told by a cardinal.
00:11:43.000 It was going out of public.
00:11:45.000 But he, he, um...
00:11:47.000 We met, and at the end, first time we ever met.
00:11:52.000 And at the end of the meeting, uh, he said, oh, oh, oh, by the way, cancel your vows.
00:11:59.000 He said, we didn't even talk about my vows.
00:12:01.000 He knew they were set with a cathedral.
00:12:03.000 Oh, by the way, like he was telling me to cancel a dental appointment.
00:12:06.000 No clue.
00:12:07.000 So I did.
00:12:08.000 And we had to stop, and not go forward, and not take women in, and...
00:12:12.000 Sister's the only one that came with me.
00:12:15.000 Because she won't quit, no matter what you do to her.
00:12:18.000 Yeah.
00:12:19.000 Yeah.
00:12:20.000 At one point, the prayer would be, may God have mercy on our souls.
00:12:23.000 But for now, Mother, you were asked to sacrifice something, and you did.
00:12:28.000 You praised God.
00:12:30.000 That's coming in.
00:12:31.000 John Henry.
00:12:32.000 I deserve hell.
00:12:34.000 And if I never had my final vows, I said I do with my temporary vows, with Bishop Slattery
00:12:40.000 and Tulsa.
00:12:41.000 I don't have to say it again.
00:12:43.000 I meant it.
00:12:44.000 I'm thrilled now what's happening.
00:12:47.000 But I have chills.
00:12:51.000 I can't.
00:12:52.000 That I get to wake up and wear this every day.
00:12:57.000 I don't know.
00:12:58.000 God knows I'm not the type to be a religious.
00:13:01.000 He knows I'm a New York Jew and a businesswoman.
00:13:05.000 I'm very much like a fisherman.
00:13:08.000 Yeah.
00:13:09.000 I'm a grace beyond anything anyone could have.
00:13:13.000 I'm the richest person in the whole world, no matter what is denied or what is given me.
00:13:18.000 It doesn't matter.
00:13:19.000 I'm his.
00:13:20.000 Forever.
00:13:21.000 Where is Eileen?
00:13:24.000 I think she's got herself.
00:13:25.000 She's probably ready for us.
00:13:27.000 Yeah, she has a key.
00:13:28.000 Eileen is where?
00:13:30.000 She's ready.
00:13:31.000 We're coming this way.
00:13:33.000 Eileen?
00:13:34.000 Yeah, I think.
00:13:35.000 I saw her outside.
00:13:36.000 She, go ahead.
00:13:37.000 Oh, okay.
00:13:38.000 Come.
00:13:39.000 Did anyone get my glasses?
00:13:41.000 No?
00:13:42.000 Oh, I think it's Santa.
00:13:43.000 Okay, come.
00:13:44.000 Nancy has them.
00:13:51.000 You know that here on LifeSite we love to tell amazing stories.
00:13:56.000 There are few so heroic and amazing as the story we're about to tell you that's coming soon.
00:14:03.000 You gotta watch this.
00:14:04.000 When I was in seminary, I was reading a book by Henry Nouwen.
00:14:10.000 He talked about a nuclear man, you know, and people who grew up in the 1980s were kind of formed by that immediate and constant threat of nuclear annihilation.
00:14:23.000 My generation has grown up, you know, under the specter of priestly sexual abuse.
00:14:29.000 What say you, Mr. Foreperson, is the defendant guilty or not guilty?
00:14:33.000 I think that for many of us that has also been all-encompassing.
00:14:38.000 You know, I mean, I entered the seminary in January of 2004.
00:14:42.000 And it's basically been there for me from the beginning.
00:14:45.000 One priest's sacrifice for many priestly sins.
00:14:53.000 The story of Father John Halliwell.
00:14:58.000 Coming soon from LifeSite News.
00:15:03.000 Thank you very, very much.
00:15:08.000 Look at what?
00:15:10.000 Isn't he cute?
00:15:11.000 There's so many around here.
00:15:13.000 I've been terribly afraid of bugs.
00:15:16.000 And when I, first day I got here, I probably, forgive me Lord, killed three crickets.
00:15:21.000 But now they're all over the place.
00:15:23.000 And I just say, excuse me, please.
00:15:25.000 I'm getting used to bugs.
00:15:27.000 Eileen, come please.
00:15:33.000 Come, we don't have much time.
00:15:40.000 So how many cells do you have all together?
00:15:42.000 So there's eight, which will make 16 for us.
00:15:45.000 16, okay.
00:15:46.000 Because we'll cut them in half.
00:15:48.000 Ah, okay.
00:15:49.000 And there's another side to it as well?
00:15:51.000 There's another side that's not completed, but that's in place for eight cells already.
00:15:55.000 On the other side as well?
00:15:57.000 On the other side.
00:15:58.000 Ah, okay.
00:15:59.000 Exactly duplicated on the other side.
00:16:00.000 All right.
00:16:02.000 And what, go ahead, open your room if you would.
00:16:05.000 It's open?
00:16:08.000 How would I know?
00:16:10.000 Go ahead, sweetie.
00:16:17.000 Eileen visited us in Tulsa and she's in Kansas.
00:16:21.000 May we go in?
00:16:23.000 Okay.
00:16:24.000 Okay.
00:16:25.000 Oh, this is great.
00:16:26.000 Could you put me in my mouth?
00:16:27.000 Go ahead.
00:16:28.000 Come.
00:16:29.000 So these are the rooms.
00:16:36.000 Wow.
00:16:37.000 Thanks, Eileen.
00:16:39.000 These are the rooms.
00:16:40.000 So they came with two beds they gave us.
00:16:43.000 Yeah.
00:16:44.000 Desk and chair are ours.
00:16:45.000 But it has a toilet, private, and a shower, which is difficult for two women forever.
00:16:52.000 So we're going to find a way to divide it.
00:16:54.000 Yeah.
00:16:55.000 The rooms are 20 by 12, 20 by 12.
00:17:02.000 And so it'll be six by 15 each cell.
00:17:07.000 Okay.
00:17:08.000 And it's fine.
00:17:09.000 We can live that way.
00:17:12.000 Isn't this amazing?
00:17:13.000 And we're going to take the barn doors down and build our refectory tables from them.
00:17:18.000 Oh, wow.
00:17:19.000 That's amazing.
00:17:20.000 It is.
00:17:21.000 That was Sister Gertrude's.
00:17:22.000 What do you think, Diane?
00:17:24.000 We're going to take the barn doors down, Sister Gertrude's idea, and make our refectory tables
00:17:29.000 out of them.
00:17:30.000 Amazing.
00:17:31.000 Wouldn't that be great?
00:17:33.000 Yeah.
00:17:34.000 Lovely.
00:17:35.000 Good.
00:17:36.000 Incredible.
00:17:37.000 I know.
00:17:38.000 It's just all okay.
00:17:41.000 It's everything.
00:17:43.000 Furnished.
00:17:44.000 Everything.
00:17:45.000 All the linens.
00:17:47.000 They bought us these beds.
00:17:49.000 They bought us 18 beds.
00:17:51.000 No, they bought us 30 beds, and mattresses, and linens.
00:17:56.000 Beautiful.
00:17:57.000 Beautiful.
00:17:58.000 It's just so great.
00:18:03.000 It's funny.
00:18:04.000 You guys, here, you have the same thing we do, except the opposite.
00:18:09.000 We wouldn't survive if we didn't have heating.
00:18:12.000 Oh, there we go.
00:18:14.000 If you didn't have cooling.
00:18:15.000 That's right.
00:18:16.000 It's over 100 every day here now.
00:18:19.000 Look at this, too, here.
00:18:24.000 Careful of the holes.
00:18:27.000 This is a huge storage room with laundry in it.
00:18:31.000 And this is a screened-in porch.
00:18:38.000 Look at this.
00:18:42.000 Oh, wow.
00:18:43.000 Isn't this amazing?
00:18:45.000 All this equipment.
00:18:48.000 Everything here.
00:18:49.000 Amazing.
00:18:50.000 It used to, it was an event.
00:18:52.000 The last, what did you say, was a tree farm and everything, and the last was an event center.
00:18:59.000 They had wedding showers here and bridal events and everything.
00:19:03.000 Some of the equipment hasn't even been used yet.
00:19:06.000 Wow.
00:19:07.000 So what is your thought for here?
00:19:10.000 Oh, my.
00:19:12.000 We don't know yet, do we?
00:19:18.000 But we've already visited a nearby church that wants us to teach CCD, which for me would
00:19:27.000 be heaven to get to the parents.
00:19:29.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:19:30.000 And we've thought, just as a beginning, once a month, walk the streets of Winsboro, bother
00:19:37.000 the world, and invite everybody, it doesn't matter who they are, to a film night once
00:19:44.000 a month.
00:19:45.000 We'll choose the film.
00:19:46.000 We'll have a Q&A after.
00:19:47.000 And then a second night a month, everything you want them to know about being Catholic
00:19:50.000 and afraid to ask.
00:19:51.000 Anybody can come with anything, questions.
00:19:54.000 So if it's cool enough, it has some fans, but we could be in here.
00:19:58.000 But other than that, we could be inside.
00:20:01.000 Yeah.
00:20:02.000 Beautiful.
00:20:03.000 So there's the second half out this way.
00:20:06.000 Mm-hmm.
00:20:07.000 That's great.
00:20:08.000 So that, and you feel you can divide them?
00:20:11.000 Yeah, it's already divided.
00:20:12.000 The wood's in place.
00:20:13.000 Electric's in place.
00:20:14.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:20:15.000 Amazing.
00:20:16.000 So it's just tremendous.
00:20:18.000 That's amazing.
00:20:19.000 And then you have, beyond this, what are the other buildings?
00:20:23.000 There's a pump house.
00:20:24.000 What else, sister?
00:20:25.000 A well.
00:20:26.000 A well.
00:20:27.000 We have a 500-foot well that supplies the whole land.
00:20:30.000 Wow.
00:20:31.000 Do you hear that?
00:20:33.000 All you donors?
00:20:34.000 Can I look in the camera?
00:20:36.000 Mwah!
00:20:37.000 Because it's because of you that we're here.
00:20:40.000 And without LifeSite, we wouldn't be here.
00:20:42.000 Without you, we wouldn't be here.
00:20:43.000 And we are thrilled, and we love you.
00:20:45.000 And if you come to Texas, come and visit.
00:20:48.000 And if you're not coming to Texas, come anyway.
00:20:52.000 We're so ecstatic.
00:20:53.000 It's everything we need.
00:20:55.000 Who would have thought?
00:20:56.000 And as I said on the initial interview, we don't need to have...
00:21:00.000 1.4 million, this was.
00:21:02.000 And it was 1.2 for 50 acres, but we were able to go 1.4 and get 86.
00:21:11.000 Wow.
00:21:12.000 86 acres.
00:21:13.000 That's what we have.
00:21:14.000 Show us where.
00:21:15.000 Yeah, come on.
00:21:17.000 Okay.
00:21:18.000 Do you know the...
00:21:19.000 Do you know the...
00:21:20.000 To point out the boundary that's marked?
00:21:22.000 Yes.
00:21:23.000 Okay.
00:21:24.000 So, sister...
00:21:27.000 And there's a huge pond.
00:21:32.000 We have a house on the property that we have a family in, husband and wife and three children, most beautiful.
00:21:53.000 They do everything for us.
00:21:55.000 Oh.
00:21:56.000 The husband is our handyman, our groundskeeper.
00:21:59.000 There's nothing he doesn't do.
00:22:02.000 There's nothing he can't do.
00:22:04.000 So, you found these guys?
00:22:05.000 I mean, you've only been here a month.
00:22:06.000 How'd you find them already?
00:22:08.000 Well, actually, they found us.
00:22:11.000 It's a little bit of a story.
00:22:13.000 I don't think they would mind.
00:22:15.000 They were married and handling a B&B and not really living the faith.
00:22:22.000 And I think they already had Gideon, their son, and Ruby started listening to Mother Miriam live.
00:22:29.000 Hmm.
00:22:30.000 And from there, their lives changed.
00:22:33.000 And one day, we came, when Bishop Slattery invited us, Sister Gertrude and I came here to visit, January, a year ago, before we moved.
00:22:42.000 And they're sitting in church, and Ruby, with her husband, it was a Sunday, and she said,
00:22:49.000 What's wrong with Mother Miriam?
00:22:50.000 She's not on the radio this morning.
00:22:52.000 What happened?
00:22:53.000 Is she sick?
00:22:54.000 And we were two rows before her.
00:22:56.000 So, we met them, because we came to visit.
00:22:58.000 And they've been glued to us ever since.
00:23:01.000 Wow.
00:23:02.000 And he gave up his work.
00:23:03.000 He said, All we want to do is serve you the rest of our lives.
00:23:06.000 It's amazing.
00:23:08.000 It is amazing, these people.
00:23:10.000 And our heart, John Henry, I know I've said this to you more than once.
00:23:17.000 The families God's designed to build his kingdom, and the enemies target to destroy.
00:23:23.000 You look at the news every day, you look at what's happening at World Youth Day, you could die, you could die.
00:23:32.000 The world is destroying the youth, the church is destroying the youth, in the name of Christ, if he's ever mentioned.
00:23:40.000 And so, here's one family that is, it's everything we live for.
00:23:50.000 It's everything we live for.
00:23:52.000 So, we want lots of families to come, and we'll have, let the children play, and we'll have, I don't know what we'll have.
00:23:59.000 We haven't figured it all out yet.
00:24:01.000 But whatever they want, they'll come.
00:24:03.000 They don't have to be Catholic.
00:24:04.000 We don't care.
00:24:05.000 They will be when they leave.
00:24:07.000 Amen to that.
00:24:10.000 Okay.
00:24:11.000 I have to ask this question.
00:24:14.000 Yes, anything.
00:24:15.000 Melting.
00:24:16.000 Melting?
00:24:17.000 This is…
00:24:18.000 Extremely hot.
00:24:19.000 As a Canadian, it's very hot.
00:24:21.000 No, it's very hot for us, too.
00:24:24.000 And the sisters have sometimes said to me, can't we wear white during the summer?
00:24:29.000 And I said, no.
00:24:30.000 And I think I may have mentioned, they know the little story, when I was in the airport once, and I'm melting, too.
00:24:36.000 I don't like the heat.
00:24:38.000 It's like…
00:24:39.000 And humidity is, to me, like Captain Knight the Superman.
00:24:42.000 I'm not Superman, but it puts me out.
00:24:45.000 So, I was in an airport restroom, and I was at the sink in this habit, and there's a woman three sinks away, a large black woman, maybe in her 30s, tank top, short shorts, pouring water from the heat.
00:25:05.000 And she looked over at me, and she said, ma'am, ain't you hot in that plane?
00:25:11.000 And I said to her, but it's for Jesus.
00:25:14.000 And she's, I guess it's for Jesus.
00:25:18.000 That's for me.
00:25:19.000 It's for Jesus.
00:25:20.000 I don't think it was cool on the cross.
00:25:22.000 See, three hours and more, and we spend 15 minutes and go into the cool building.
00:25:31.000 No, it's not, the heat is not our cup of tea, but blessed be God forever, as long as he gives us breath.
00:25:38.000 That's what we want.
00:25:39.000 Tell the world about Jesus.
00:25:41.000 Amen.
00:25:42.000 Amen.
00:25:43.000 Amen.
00:25:44.000 Amen.
00:25:45.000 Ah.
00:25:46.000 No.
00:25:47.000 It's just between us.
00:25:50.000 I envy the position your holy man has.
00:25:55.000 Oh, your sweetheart.
00:25:58.000 He can't do enough.
00:26:00.000 He cannot do enough for us.
00:26:02.000 We don't even know what he's doing half the time.
00:26:04.000 He says, mother, there's people giving away free mulch.
00:26:07.000 I'll be back in 10 hours.
00:26:09.000 Or whatever it is.
00:26:11.000 He just does everything.
00:26:12.000 I don't even have to.
00:26:13.000 We tell him what has to be done, but he wants to protect us.
00:26:18.000 He wants to be, he's fabulous.
00:26:20.000 Just fabulous.
00:26:21.000 Come, we'll go this way.
00:26:23.000 And so is his wife, Ruby.
00:26:27.000 And they had two little boys, Gideon and Rabi.
00:26:31.000 And they had a little girl whom they named Rosalyn.
00:26:35.000 And she's my goddaughter.
00:26:36.000 No.
00:26:37.000 Really?
00:26:38.000 That's great.
00:26:42.000 That is great.
00:26:45.000 So we love them and they come over every Sunday at the church and the little boys bring us flowers.
00:26:52.000 Hello, friends.

00:27:27.000 These one ounce silver rounds are available from our partners at StJosephsPartners.com, where you can fulfill all of your silver and gold needs in this perilous time.
00:27:36.000 May God bless you.
00:27:37.000 Oh, they're beautiful.
00:27:38.000 They're beautiful.
00:27:39.000 How would you have, or what do you have for mass here?
00:27:45.000 We drive 40 minutes into St Joseph the Worker in the morning.
00:27:49.000 Okay.
00:27:50.000 but recently we we didn't have the time and we needed to go more locally and
00:27:56.880 there's a church in Gilmore it's 17 minutes away it's Novus Ordo but the
00:28:02.500 priest also prays Latin mass twice a week and at least the Novus Ordo was
00:28:12.100 ad orientum with Latin and reverence so we can we can do that I haven't been
00:28:17.260 there yet the sisters has but have one it's right he says beautiful they say
00:28:23.200 the priest is just beautiful they say holy and beautiful and he's the one
00:28:29.740 that's talking about our teaching CCD it's mostly Hispanic there and he's
00:28:34.540 Hispanic okay but in my heart is always to get to the parents so yeah so when and
00:28:41.920 at what point and how would that look like might you get a priest to come
00:28:47.140 here we've spoken to a few and who want to come but they have to work it out or
00:28:52.960 have the schedule we'd have priests here every day if it worked and but so far no
00:28:58.540 one's come when we were how far Winona 40 minutes away and Winona also 35 minutes
00:29:05.440 away we lived until a month ago in the two trailers and Bishop came and celebrated
00:29:11.800 mass and Bishop Athanasius Snyder came blessed our trailers celebrated mass so
00:29:18.220 we'll invite the bishop here and there are other priests who will come but at the
00:29:24.820 moment everybody's in their place it's not easy for them to come yeah it's a
00:29:29.080 distance and so you'd have this this priest would be probably your closest to one
00:29:33.280 in Gilmer Gilmer there's one in Sulphur Springs but he's not able to come and he
00:29:41.560 celebrates the Latin mass but he's not able to come so this is probably so far
00:29:46.280 that we found it there's a holy there's a Catholic Church five minutes away but we
00:29:55.780 haven't got in there yet and we don't know so let's if we can let's just walk
00:30:03.880 around to the back to that chapel again it's actually this way no I'm I'm the
00:30:11.840 same I'm a little mouse in a maze I'm just getting to know it we walked through
00:30:16.900 here and we can't even believe that it's ours how would you do that well we went
00:30:22.360 upstairs this staircase leads to it only an attic with a tremendous amount of
00:30:27.940 storage and we had some men go up there and to see what ceilings could be raised
00:30:33.220 and the ceilings that were lowered can be raised they said about seven feet which
00:30:38.680 we would love okay so that for the for what area particularly well what was going
00:30:46.720 to be is going to be a community was originally a chapel and we wanted high so
00:30:50.200 the chapel and the refectory even the hallway well these are good oh that
00:30:59.260 other hallway has lowered ceilings yeah and we would raise anything we can to
00:31:04.900 point to heaven yeah we would raise anything we can and all of this was left
00:31:11.860 here but we're gonna sell it all doesn't remind you of a CC a little bit
00:31:16.540 would you like to take it home but no no we're gonna sell all of it for
00:31:22.720 donations so we because we had every penny of this I thank God for you every
00:31:29.740 day has been taken care of but we're gonna need some money to do a lot of
00:31:34.120 construction so we'll sell a lot of the furniture and and all these beautiful
00:31:40.600 chandeliers and I don't know I have no idea what things are worth but we could
00:31:50.140 replace them yeah so looks more like a ballroom how do you feel ready in the
00:32:01.240 wedding feast sister Joan Marie sister Faustina Marie these two are sisters
00:32:10.120 about two hours oh really they we had their novitiate this morning oh they were
00:32:15.640 postulants this when they woke up and their sisters now wow sister Joan after
00:32:21.040 Joan of Arc Joan Marie and it's the best sister Joan Marie of the Holy Cross we have
00:32:26.440 titles and sister Faustina Marie of the merciful Savior so if I might ask what
00:32:33.060 happens then and so is that a ceremony or what is that how does that I can give
00:32:39.340 you a book it's a beautiful ceremony it's a beautiful we have somebody and our
00:32:44.820 visitor our discerner was that person who introduced them mother I have observed
00:32:51.040 their lives and I think we think they're fit to enter the novitiate so they enter
00:32:55.240 and I don't remember the whole thing you probably remember it more than me but
00:33:01.780 they expressed they want to give their lives to God and I give them an
00:33:06.880 exhortation a message that I write specifically for them and it includes a
00:33:14.980 foot washing and the cutting of their hair sister Faustina Marie was down to
00:33:23.260 there not quite down to there well both of them for that long and we cut their
00:33:29.740 hair and we ship their hair to their moms or dads or whoever which is it because they
00:33:35.260 give everything to God and then with each piece of the habit the tunic and do you
00:33:44.940 remember a sister I know I have to remember each one each piece I tell you
00:33:53.220 what would you get a booklet please it should be on my desk the tunic first then
00:34:01.620 the scapular and his yoga is easy his burden is light each piece reminds us of
00:34:11.260 our life in Christ the people say why should belt too long it's not it's a a
00:34:17.500 singture and it's for chastity the same Francis de Sales is one of our patrons and
00:34:25.900 he didn't allow any any physical penance because he said you have community
00:34:32.920 that's enough and he's right so okay all the lessons and all the antiphons and
00:34:41.200 postulance Neil and very reverend mother entrusting my weakness to the mercy of
00:34:50.260 Christ my ignorance to his wisdom and my future to his providence I ask you to
00:34:55.540 clothe me in the vesture of those who hold nothing dearer than Christ that I may
00:35:00.520 appear outwardly in the sight of angels and of men as an image of the church
00:35:05.500 virgin spouse and mother and as one whose heart belongs to the lamb alone in a
00:35:11.680 covenant of bridal love beautiful now these are specific to your order is that
00:35:15.460 right well to Benedictine in Italy no no it sounds like it's totally like
00:35:21.160 tailor-made for your order specifically well this was put together for me by a
00:35:27.780 Benedictine priest in Tulsa who was our first religious assistant and I got a
00:35:34.140 copy of the Benedictines of Gower a beautiful order it's almost word for
00:35:39.060 word really yeah it's almost word for word the whole thing I just this you can
00:35:43.920 have it oh man please that would be amazing yeah this is what I just read yeah
00:35:48.360 this part of it I thought for sure it was tailor-made to you because they asked you
00:35:51.600 to quote me in the vesture of those who know that I may appear outwardly in the sight of
00:35:56.760 angels and men that's right that's your whole that's the whole charism all right
00:36:00.780 there yeah right there okay yeah since since the habits were shortened when I
00:36:04.800 was 19 yeah and had nothing to do with me so I thought now we want to be signs to
00:36:11.220 God in the world that's beautiful beautiful well congratulations to both of you
00:36:16.200 yeah that's amazing it was very very wonderful it's an auspicious day for us to be here that's wonderful
00:36:20.760 yeah it's a very very special day and then for my having final vows tomorrow and if we can manage it
00:36:27.660 sister Gertrude will have her temporary vows in a month or so if we haven't talked to the bishop and
00:36:34.260 then normally it'd be five years before final but if it works out one year for her one year for final vows for
00:36:42.720 her because she's been here so long and she's yeah she's more faithful than I am she's wonderful benedictine
00:36:48.220 wow wow yeah I don't know what I would do without her I don't know because I'll just tell you this
00:36:55.680 sister Gertrude Marie I want to say it accurately runs the place I want to be accurate here
00:37:05.340 I know you ask this is okay that's okay I understand but she runs it she she's the furniture
00:37:14.040 the arrangement everything is hers because she's magnificent and all the shopping all the mayor
00:37:20.240 planning all the oversight of the sisters the kitchen all the work all the errands everything
00:37:26.400 is under sister the only thing I do is sit at my desk I said she does everything else and she is
00:37:33.840 structured and so because when sisters here we pray on time when she's not here the sisters come
00:37:40.920 mother we pray and I said oh sure why I'm a dreamer but she's fantastic I don't know what I do without
00:37:47.580 her go listen to this oh no German no German yeah yeah that's that's for the talks
00:38:02.340 but 27 years in accounting before she came here oh 27 years in one job okay banking and counting
