00:00:00.000 In the wake of a bit of Vatican backpedaling after world media reported that Vatican City
00:00:05.340 State was insisting on vaccination for Vatican employees, otherwise they'd lose their jobs,
00:00:10.740 Pope Francis is actually now requiring reporters who want to join him on the papal plane during
00:00:16.660 his trip to Iraq this March get the abortion-tainted COVID vaccine.
00:00:22.320 In other Vatican news, Pope Francis has retired one of the last Orthodox-leaning heads of
00:00:28.340 the Curia, Cardinal Robert Serra.
00:00:30.580 But there's some amazing news to report to, as Catholic laity in Australia have heroically
00:00:35.900 defended the honour of their cathedral against profanation, and a world-famous traditional
00:00:40.720 nun has finally been given the green light to open her convent after four years of trying 0.55
00:00:46.160 to find a bishop who would accept her.
00:00:48.320 Stay tuned.
00:00:58.340 Before we begin, I have to ask you a favour.
00:01:10.820 You know that LifeSite's been deleted by YouTube, and we just also got removed from Google News
00:01:16.120 and Google AdSense.
00:01:17.700 Now this severely limits our ability to be seen online and thus get the truth out to the
00:01:23.040 world.
00:01:23.800 May I ask your help?
00:01:24.940 Help us pick up the slack by introducing people you know to LifeSiteNews.com.
00:01:30.260 Tell them to subscribe on the top right-hand corner of our webpage so that they can always
00:01:35.260 keep up with our current news, no matter what new platforms for video or anything else we'll
00:01:40.560 have to use.
00:01:41.940 Let's begin, as we always do, with the sign of the cross.
00:01:44.780 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
00:01:48.760 Amen.
00:01:49.060 LifeSite's Michael Haynes reports this week that in a communique sent out from the Holy
00:01:54.800 Sea press office, that's the Vatican's press office, two journalists looking to join the
00:01:59.080 Pope on his trip to Iraq, which goes from March 5th to 8th, mandatory vaccination was
00:02:04.780 stipulated as a prerequisite for travel.
00:02:07.340 Section 3 of the document contained prescriptions and health advice, which include requirements
00:02:12.380 for masking and social distancing, PPE and so on.
00:02:16.580 However, beyond this, the Vatican decreed that in order for journalists to present themselves
00:02:21.180 for the journey, and I quote, it is necessary to have undergone the vaccination against COVID-19
00:02:26.800 within the appropriate time, end quote.
00:02:29.600 Should a journalist be unable to receive the vaccine in his home country, he is ordered to
00:02:34.480 contact the Vatican and request a vaccination, and both doses of the vaccine would then be administered
00:02:40.360 before the trip commences.
00:02:42.700 Vaccine certificates are required as proof of the injection.
00:02:47.540 Furthermore, the vaccine mandate seems to extend not just to journalists who accompany the Pope on the
00:02:53.460 flight, but also to those who, quote, participate in the apostolic journey, end quote, regardless
00:02:58.420 of at what stage or how closely they join the Pope.
00:03:02.600 Well, the Vatican City State had issued a decree in early February calling the reception of the
00:03:10.060 experimental vaccine a duty in maintaining public health, and essentially threatened Vatican
00:03:16.160 employees with the loss of their job if they refused the vaccine.
00:03:19.620 As LifeCite's Jean Smits reported, quote, the text also implies that workers who refuse the vaccine
00:03:26.020 without proven reasons of health, and who are in a position to pose a risk to other citizens,
00:03:31.800 residents, and workers of the community may not receive another task and payment.
00:03:36.100 In other words, they would lose their job and income.
00:03:40.120 Now, after the news caused a strong backlash, the governor of the Vatican City State, Cardinal
00:03:45.760 Giuseppe Bertolo, was forced to issue a response to his own directive.
00:03:50.120 He said that those who simply refused the experimental vaccine would be allowed to find alternative
00:03:54.960 solutions for the performance of work by the person concerned.
00:03:58.920 But our reporter who followed up on this, John Smits, she described the new note as damage
00:04:06.460 control.
00:04:07.540 And commenting on the note despite, well, the actual situation, despite the note, is that
00:04:15.140 the original decree, she said, did not provide for anything of the sort of an exception like
00:04:20.920 that.
00:04:21.120 It only said that alternative tasks would be found for workers who, and I quote, for reasons,
00:04:26.600 or proven reasons of health, end quote, could not receive the jab.
00:04:31.400 So Francis himself, of course, has compared taking the COVID vaccines to a moral duty.
00:04:37.960 He said, and I quote, I believe that ethically everyone should take the vaccine, end quote.
00:04:42.580 And you remember that along with Pope Benedict XVI, Francis was one of the first to receive
00:04:47.220 the vaccine when the injections began in the Vatican in January.
00:04:50.420 In related news, Pope Francis has retired, one of the last remaining Orthodox cardinals 0.98
00:04:56.480 in the Courier.
00:04:57.700 While allowing left-leaning cardinals to remain in office for years after the required resignation
00:05:03.480 letter upon turning 75, the Pope insisted on retiring Cardinal Robert Serra without even
00:05:10.000 naming a successor, which is normally customary.
00:05:13.600 Now, at LifeSite, you'll find a full write-up of the Cardinal's amazing history in our coverage
00:05:19.660 by LifeSite's Pete Buklinski.
00:05:21.600 But here are my favorite parts.
00:05:23.680 Cardinal Serra has defended the traditional Catholic practices, such as receiving Holy Communion,
00:05:27.880 kneeling and on the tongue, and celebrating Mass, the priest facing the tabernacle with the
00:05:32.280 people facing East, or Ad Oriente.
00:05:35.580 Cardinal Serra has warned that the Church is facing a grave risk of schism over morality.
00:05:40.540 He's told priests that they cannot shy away from hard teachings of the Church on abortion
00:05:45.240 and homosexuality. 0.77
00:05:46.720 In his 2017 book, The Power of Silence, which I really urge you all to read, Cardinal Serra
00:05:52.140 wrote that he opposes priests and bishops within the Church who no longer believe in the Bible
00:05:56.920 and who depart from the Catholic teaching and sacred tradition.
00:06:00.200 And I'll quote it for you.
00:06:01.120 He said,
00:06:01.400 Cardinal Serra also warned, and he said,
00:06:29.280 I quote,
00:06:30.880 bishops that scatter the sheep that Jesus has entrusted to them will be judged mercilessly
00:06:37.040 and severely by God, end quote.
00:06:40.320 But you know, there's something of a silver lining in Cardinal Serra's departure.
00:06:45.260 He sort of left us a parting gift.
00:06:48.100 A tweet from May 3rd, he pinned to the top of his Twitter page as he was retired.
00:06:54.200 And that tweet remains there still, if you go check it out.
00:06:57.460 Hopefully, by the time you see this, it'll still be there.
00:07:00.420 And it says that basically, his position is that the faithful may not be denied communion
00:07:08.380 and confession, even during COVID.
00:07:11.520 Here it is in his words, and I quote,
00:07:13.260 End quote.
00:07:34.400 What a hero.
00:07:35.260 Thank you for your service to the Church and to Christ, Cardinal Serra.
00:07:41.340 And speaking of heroes, check this out.
00:07:44.320 Nearly 200 Catholic faithful in Sydney, Australia,
00:07:47.020 knelt in front of their cathedral praying prayers of reparation and singing hymns
00:07:50.840 as an LGBT exhibit was being held right in front of the cathedral on the city-owned property,
00:07:57.520 which is the sort of the cathedral square.
00:07:59.520 Seeing their faith and determination is awesome.
00:08:03.840 And what a great witness also to those who might have even attended that festival.
00:08:08.160 And finally, I've got some incredible news to share with you.
00:08:11.520 Mother Miriam, who we all know and love for her daily show on LifeSite called the Mother
00:08:15.320 Miriam Live Show, has finally found a bishop who will let her and her order, by the way,
00:08:22.160 which was founded under Cardinal Raymond Burke, function again.
00:08:25.200 For the last four years, her order was unable to function without having a bishop being willing
00:08:30.720 to accept them.
00:08:31.560 But now, praise God, Mother Miriam and her order, which is called the Daughters of Mary,
00:08:36.940 Mother of Israel's Hope, have finally been invited to put down permanent roots in Beloit,
00:08:41.820 Kansas, following the invitation of the local bishop of Selina there, Bishop Gerald Vinky.
00:08:49.160 Without a home, Mother had to turn away hundreds of faithful young ladies who wanted to give 1.00
00:08:53.720 themselves to the most important work on earth, offering themselves up in prayer for the church.
00:08:59.420 But she's back in business now, the business of saving the world.
00:09:03.920 So if you're sick of supporting liberal organizations and want to make an investment in something rock
00:09:09.500 solid, faithful to the core, traditional, and truly beautiful, please support Mother Miriam's
00:09:15.180 work.
00:09:15.940 They need a home immediately, but eventually they want to build an abbey.
00:09:19.580 You can support this powerhouse of evangelization by going to lifefunder.com, that's L-I-F-E-F-U-N-D-R.com,
00:09:28.280 lifefunder.com, and click on the link saying, A Home for Mother Miriam.
00:09:33.140 I'm going to have Mother Miriam on this show again soon to invite women to join her in her 1.00
00:09:37.480 order.
00:09:37.720 But for all of you fans out there, all of you LifeSite fans, here's a short clip from Mother's
00:09:44.000 latest interview with LifeSite's Danielle Zuccaro, just to let you know what she thinks of LifeSite.

00:09:50.320 I thank LifeSite.

00:10:38.420 Hi, this is John Henry Weston, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of LifeSite News.
00:10:42.720 I'm coming to you today because we want to be sure that we're communicating clearly with
00:10:48.720 you, our loyal followers.
00:10:50.100 Things are really heating up, as I'm sure you can see.
00:10:54.200 Christians, conservatives, truth-tellers are being targeted, are being banned from social
00:10:59.740 media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram at an alarmingly fast rate.
00:11:06.460 They are attempting to suppress any narrative that does not fit that of the mainstream media.
00:11:11.920 We knew this day would come.
00:11:14.420 We have been warning everyone who would listen and attempting to build up alternative platforms
00:11:19.820 to continue to reach you.
00:11:22.420 We have established ourselves on all sorts of platforms I'm going to explain in a minute.
00:11:26.400 But the most important thing to do is come direct to LifeSiteNews.com because there we
00:11:32.700 will always be.
00:11:34.080 But we've also established ourselves on platforms like Parler and MeWe and our videos can be found
00:11:39.880 on Rumble as well.
00:11:41.060 We would love to see each of you on those platforms too, as they are not censoring or suppressing
00:11:47.280 the truth that we are sharing every single day.
00:11:50.500 More than these alternative social media platforms, we highly encourage you to subscribe to our email
00:11:56.460 newsletter.
00:11:56.900 We have really built up a large list of loyal readers on our email marketing platform, and
00:12:03.280 we have prepared several backup plans for, well, I want to say if, but it's really when, we
00:12:09.840 are removed from our current platform as well.
00:12:13.020 Additionally, I really encourage you, as I said before, to make it a regular habit to go
00:12:18.420 directly to LifeSiteNews.com.
00:12:20.500 Make it your homepage.
00:12:22.100 While all of these different platforms are an excellent way to curate your news, going
00:12:27.860 directly to our website means that you will never encounter any censorship or sudden loss
00:12:33.420 of LifeSiteNews reporting.
00:12:35.100 Here's the thing.
00:12:36.540 We will never stop sharing the truth.

00:12:48.040 We have established a track record of honest reports, and this will never stop, even with
00:12:55.060 censorship happening around the globe.
00:12:57.920 Again, I'm encouraging you to join us on Parler, MeWe, Rumble, and on our email list.
00:13:04.320 You can find all the direct links in the description of this video.
00:13:09.200 May God bless you and keep you, and we are so thankful that you've chosen to follow and
00:13:13.580 support LifeSiteNews.
