00:00:56.600 On Wednesday, September 10th, just as we were stepping out of the studio after recording our latest episode about Irina Zarutska, the young woman brutally murdered on the train, we saw the shocking news.
00:01:12.800 Charlie Kirk had been shot.
00:01:14.460 And at Utah Valley University, no less, and that campus is just over an hour away from the studio where we're sitting right now.
00:01:21.100 Along with many millions of Americans,
00:01:23.240 we watched as the horrific, gory details of the murder flashed across social media.
00:01:28.900 Videos on repeat showed a bullet pierced Charlie's neck,
00:01:32.340 just as he was answering a question from the crowd about trans violence.
00:01:35.820 He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite the medical team's best efforts,
00:01:40.820 he died shortly after the shooting from his gruesome injuries.
00:01:44.340 He was murdered for the whole world to see, right in front of his young wife and children.
00:01:49.300 His daughter even tried to run to her daddy
00:01:51.480 as the chaos unfolded, scared by the noise and tumult.
00:01:55.500 The man who had built an iconic conservative media brand
00:01:58.680 around free speech and reasonable dialogue
00:02:00.780 with the left on college campuses across the nation
00:02:03.440 was shot in the throat.
00:02:05.060 A shocking reminder that the left
00:02:07.640 cannot tolerate opposing viewpoints,
00:02:10.140 so it will resort to violence
00:02:11.660 to end the speech it doesn't like altogether.
00:02:15.060 It was a public spectacle that will likely shape
00:02:17.560 an entire generation of young people in America
00:02:20.000 for better or for worse,
00:02:22.100 just as did the slaying of MLK or JFK.
00:02:25.100 Anthony Esselin captured the magnitude of Kirk's murder
00:02:27.640 in a recent ex-post in which he pointed out
00:02:30.200 that one reason Charlie's death was so shocking
00:02:32.740 is that he wasn't a politician or a president.
00:02:35.840 No, they killed the man willing to freely debate
00:02:38.280 anyone who stepped up to the microphone,
00:02:40.600 the man who embodied free speech.
00:02:42.760 As Mike Rowe said,
00:02:44.000 it was like someone shot the First Amendment.
00:02:46.900 The assassination is an ominous testimony to the Marxist rot that has infested our supposed institutions of free inquiry and learning.
00:02:55.940 Esalen writes, quote,
00:02:57.020 The assassination took aim directly at freedom of inquiry, speech, and argument, and in a place where those freedoms are supposed to be sacrosanct.
00:03:05.480 But we know that college campuses seldom honor those freedoms now.
00:03:08.720 Men drinking beer at the counter of a bar enjoy far more freedom of speech than does
00:03:13.920 a student in an introduction to sociology class at Land Grant University.
00:03:18.460 Far more, end quote.
00:03:20.660 As pastors ourselves and those who speak unpopular truths in a public setting, watching such
00:03:26.440 evil land with such force against a man like Charlie, a man many have called the moderate
00:03:31.260 voice on the right, was sobering to say the least.
00:03:34.540 Like many of you, we have vacillated between a wide array of emotions,
00:03:38.880 including grief, rage, sadness, and fear.
00:03:42.680 Now, we don't have nearly the platform size or number of haters as Kirk did,
00:03:46.880 but we do have them.
00:03:48.340 In the midst of all of this chaos, you have to ask yourself,
00:03:51.340 what price am I willing to pay for speaking the truth?
00:03:54.940 Am I willing to take that risk?
00:03:56.720 Upon deeper reflection, Charlie's life and death answer that question for us.
00:04:01.480 As many news outlets have reported, including Harrison Smith at InfoWars, Tucker Carlson, and Max Blumenthal with the Gray Zone,
00:04:10.000 Charlie was receiving massive pressure and accusations of anti-Semitism from Jewish donors related to his recent and ongoing criticisms of Israel's government and the war in Gaza.
00:04:20.980 He allegedly told close friends that he was quite literally in fear for his life.
00:04:25.620 He also knew firsthand the dangers posed by the radical left.
00:04:29.240 And yet, knowing the risks, he refused to stop speaking the truth boldly.
00:04:34.960 He pointed out the Jewish donors were behind most of the Marxist undercurrents in our society,
00:04:39.820 including the radical trans agenda, from college campuses to political offices to media institutions.
00:04:46.440 He spoke openly about the violence of the trans movement.
00:04:49.700 He knew what threats he faced in calling this out, and yet, to his last breath,
00:04:53.500 he would use the microphone to boldly speak the truth, especially the truth of Christ's gospel.
00:05:00.340 His life and martyr's death are a shocking reminder that the truth is powerful.
00:05:06.020 The truth is an existential threat to the forces of darkness.
00:05:09.800 As Charlie had often said, we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but with evil, demonic forces in the world.
00:05:16.640 We're in a spiritual as well as a cultural war.
00:05:19.900 Charlie's story has many parallels to what we read about Stephen in Acts 6.
00:05:24.360 Stephen was publicly arguing his case against the synagogue,
00:05:27.700 and the writer of the letter, Luke, tells us that he was filled with grace and power,
00:05:32.220 doing great wonders in their midst.
00:05:34.420 In other words, he became a problem for the establishment because he was so wildly effective.
00:05:39.940 Like Charlie, he was publicly debating those who ground their teeth in hatred against him.
00:05:44.440 And we're told the Jews in the synagogue, quote,
00:05:47.060 could not withstand the wisdom and the spirit with which he was speaking.
00:05:51.320 And so, because they couldn't match his argument, they killed him.
00:05:55.360 But lest any of us be tempted to shrink back,
00:05:57.960 the God of Providence has left us many signposts in the midst of tragedy to embolden us.
00:06:03.520 One of the most inspirational moments in the days following Kirk's murder
00:06:06.940 came when his grieving wife, Erica, addressed the nation.
00:06:10.300 We had seen her hold hands with J.D. Vance's wife as she descended the stairs of Air Force Two.
00:06:15.800 We had seen her tearfully leave
00:06:17.680 the funeral procession in Arizona.
00:06:20.240 And then we heard her speak.
00:06:21.880 Not only did she properly memorialize her husband,
00:06:24.840 she vowed to continue his work.
00:06:26.640 There was nothing of surrender in her words,
00:06:28.920 only an impassioned plea to carry on the mission
00:06:31.280 and honor the legacy of her late husband.
00:06:34.060 To those who killed him, she said,
00:06:35.320 you have no idea what you have unleashed
00:06:37.960 across this entire country.
00:06:39.800 The cries of this widow will echo around the world
00:06:42.220 like a battle cry, end quote.
00:06:44.120 It was the perfect example of a godly woman who had put the wind in her husband's sails,
00:06:49.300 championed the mission with him, and sang his praises to a worldwide audience.
00:06:53.600 She also refused to follow suit with all the others, including Utah Governor Spencer Cox,
00:06:58.540 who called for unity with the left.
00:07:00.760 She would not, as the false prophets of the Old Testament, cry,
00:07:04.080 peace, peace, in a time of war.
00:07:06.720 She shared the gospel clearly, then called for Americans to go to church,
00:07:10.500 which they did, as many pastors across the nation reported record attendance the following Sunday,
00:07:16.220 including our own church here in Utah.
00:07:18.680 TPUSA reported that in the 48 hours after Kirk's death,
00:07:22.520 it had received 32,000 requests to start new TPUSA chapters across the country.
00:07:28.420 Michael Knowles, one of Kirk's friends and a podcast host at The Daily Wire,
00:07:32.780 wrote a helpful and lengthy post on Acts to the same effect.
00:07:36.360 Here's what he said, quote,
00:07:37.960 In the wake of Charlie's assassination, many people are demanding that we redouble our devotion to the free marketplace of ideas.
00:07:46.160 The call seems at first glance courageous and noble.
00:07:49.280 In reality, it is reckless and impractical.
00:07:52.820 We had an open marketplace of ideas.
00:07:55.200 The left shot it up.
00:07:57.360 Not only have extreme leftists committed violence in the marketplace of ideas, more scandalous still, mainstream left-wing voices have cheered and made light of the violence.
00:08:05.680 There can be no open marketplace of ideas or anything else under such conditions.
00:08:12.020 Marketplaces require rules, confidence, and common media of exchange.
00:08:17.520 They require, in other words, order.
00:08:19.980 Liberty requires order.
00:08:21.780 One cannot be both free and undisciplined, for instance, or free and ignorant.
00:08:27.420 We know this philosophically, and we also know it intuitively.
00:08:31.240 It's why we don't let toddlers vote.
00:08:33.340 What we require now is the reassertion of order.
00:08:36.280 We must insist upon the acceptance of basic truths and moral goods, not as the asymptotic goal of endless debate, but as the axiomatic foundations without which debate cannot occur.
00:08:47.740 We must foreclose certain antisocial behaviors and suicidal ideologies.
00:08:52.940 We must, to borrow a phrase from Chesterton, stop the thought that stops thought.
00:08:57.520 More practically, this means that people who persist in such disorder should lose their social standing.
00:09:03.620 In certain cases, they should lose their jobs.
00:09:06.160 There must be consequences.
00:09:08.320 With any political reform, it is wise to err on the side of caution.
00:09:12.220 The offenses that merit such ostracism should be particularly egregious.
00:09:16.440 A good place to begin would be with those who celebrate the murder of an innocent man.
00:09:20.740 End quote.
00:09:21.900 Knowles is right.
00:09:22.560 There can be no free marketplace of ideas when the radical left is bent on shooting its opponents or committing other acts of violence.
00:09:30.980 There can be no free marketplace of ideas with a movement bent on the dissolution of society.
00:09:36.960 The left must be dismantled, disenfranchised, and utterly destroyed.
00:09:42.180 As the media is now reporting, the suspects behind the killing are said to be a group of deranged troons and furries from the state of Utah.
00:09:50.300 Many of them posted before the killing
00:09:52.040 that something would be happening to Charlie Kirk that day,
00:09:55.120 and several have been taken into police custody.
00:09:58.040 The alleged gunman is on suicide watch in a holding cell.
00:10:01.260 His trans furry boyfriend is also in custody.
00:10:04.380 At first, it was reported by Cox
00:10:06.140 that the gunman acted alone,
00:10:07.660 but within hours, we were told that the FBI
00:10:10.280 was investigating an entire left-wing underground in Utah.
00:10:14.200 One of the main groups being investigated by the FBI
00:10:16.960 in connection with the assassination
00:10:18.620 is called Armed Queers of Salt Lake City,
00:10:22.000 which has since taken down its entire social media account.
00:10:25.320 Not long before all this unfolded,
00:10:27.260 a local friend of ours here in Utah
00:10:28.860 actually sent us a photo of a sign for this exact group
00:10:32.060 posted in a downtown Salt Lake City coffee shop.
00:10:35.260 It reads,
00:10:36.120 The revolution will not be voted in.
00:10:38.220 Join armed queers.
00:10:39.480 Get organized and educated with fellow Marxists.
00:10:42.580 End quote.
00:10:43.620 The rainbow flag poster features a black communist star
00:10:47.020 with two rifle rounds inscribed with the group's namesake.
00:10:50.760 Even more disturbing, news broke that armed queers of SLC
00:10:53.980 was receiving government grants and awards
00:10:56.400 from both the State Department and the UN.
00:10:58.940 That's right, the Marxist tranny gun group
00:11:01.300 being investigated in connection with the murder of Charlie Kirk
00:11:04.140 was operating with taxpayer dollars and foreign influence.
00:11:08.120 We also learned in a major committee hearing with Kash Patel
00:11:10.980 that the FBI had been running a special project named Arctic Frost,
00:11:15.180 which targeted various conservative groups, including Charlie Kirk and TPUSA.
00:11:21.180 As Patel said in the hearing, quote,
00:11:23.000 Arctic Frost was the vehicle by which partisan FBI agents
00:11:26.060 and Department of Justice prosecutors could achieve their partisan ends
00:11:30.000 and improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus, end quote.
00:11:36.200 This penchant for violence has always been a central feature
00:11:39.700 of the Marxist left in America and elsewhere.
00:11:42.480 These things are not outlier data points to be discarded as aberrations from the norm.
00:11:47.820 This is the norm.
00:11:49.120 As Chris Ruffo points out in his book, America's Cultural Revolution,
00:11:52.820 groups like the Weathermen in the 1970s blended violence with sexual degeneracy in a quest for revolution.
00:11:59.380 Their founding father was none other than Herbert Marcuse.
00:12:03.100 One of the Weathermen puts it this way,
00:12:04.820 quote,
00:12:05.340 protests and marches don't do it.
00:12:07.560 Revolutionary violence is the only way, end quote.
00:12:11.320 At the time, their revolution produced the opposite of their intended effect.
00:12:15.400 It actually alienated blue-collar Americans from their cause.
00:12:18.920 When the revolutionary Marxists were effectively crushed by Nixon in his landslide victory,
00:12:24.160 they sought different venues for the revolution.
00:12:26.560 They turned to the education system.
00:12:28.800 As Ruffo writes, quote,
00:12:30.040 The revolution Herbert Marcuse told his young followers would not be achieved through LSD or guerrilla warfare.
00:12:36.740 They had failed at the ballot box and failed in the streets,
00:12:39.280 but there was still one thin glimmer of hope returning to the origins of the critical theories
00:12:45.080 the universities and rebuilding the revolution from the ground up end quote today we're seeing
00:12:51.340 the effects of decades of marxist infiltration in the education system and now that it's been
00:12:56.860 successful in consolidating power the result has been a return to widespread societal violence
00:13:02.300 all in the name of bloody revolution as pete hegseth now the secretary of defense argued in
00:13:08.380 his book, Battle for the American Mind, there's a straight line from critical theory to Antifa
00:13:14.160 and other forms of left-wing violence. The Frankfurt School pushed cultural Marxism
00:13:19.060 into the American educational mechanism, indoctrinating students with themes like
00:13:23.960 Mark Hughes's repressive tolerance, which essentially argued that conservative voices
00:13:29.060 should be silenced at all costs. It was the same education system that pushed gay race communism,
00:13:35.120 sexual dysphoria, and open up bathrooms to furries and trannies. As Hegseth writes,
00:13:41.340 quote, the American paideia, or total formation and enculturation of our children, was replaced
00:13:46.880 with the cultural Marxist paideia in America's youth, which obtained its authority from equity
00:13:52.520 vested in individual identity. This is a wildly fickle authority upon which to base a paideia.
00:13:58.680 What we now see as crazy, people shoplifting without consequences, are cities full of tent
00:14:03.620 towns by choice, rape in public bathrooms, disregarded because of gender identity,
00:14:08.160 riots on the left dismissed as mostly peaceful, while protests on the right are called insurrections,
00:14:13.340 makes perfect sense if you assume the cultural Marxist paideia. The craziness is just starting
00:14:19.140 to gain steam. Think of the power of the American progressive paideia to mobilize our military
00:14:24.560 and engender a national response to the 9-11 attacks. Imagine how powerful the cultural
00:14:30.000 Marxist paideia will be once it has been taught for a generation in 2045. Imagine the world your
00:14:36.180 kids and mine are entering. Remember, paideia works one generation down the line. The impact
00:14:42.580 follows behind the schools, end quote. Meanwhile, the man set forward to do much of the talking in
00:14:49.240 the aftermath of the Kirk assassination was Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who in 2022 vetoed a bill
00:14:56.120 banning biological men from competing in women's sports.
00:14:59.900 When asked why he vetoed the bill, Cox said,
00:15:01.900 I struggle to understand so much of the transgender issue,
00:15:06.000 and the science is conflicting.
00:15:08.060 When in doubt, however, I always try to err on the side of kindness, mercy, and compassion.
00:15:15.020 Hopefully I made him sound as gay as that sentence was.
00:15:18.120 Even before that, Cox found himself the object of ruthless mockery from conservative commentators,
00:15:23.420 including Tucker Carlson, when in 2021, he addressed young school children in a Zoom call
00:15:28.720 with a gay lisp stating his pronouns for the children. After Charlie's assassination,
00:15:35.240 Cox told one CNN interviewer that Kirk had said plenty of offensive and inflammatory things.
00:15:40.560 Oddly enough, Charlie Kirk had posted about Cox in March of 2022, saying, quote,
00:15:45.500 Utah Governor Spencer Cox should be expelled from the Republican Party,
00:15:49.420 end quote, for vetoing the trans ban in women's sports. Kirk was right. For all Cox's talk about
00:15:56.920 compassion and mercy, ours is the time to look evil, square in the eye, and say no more. Make
00:16:03.500 no mistake, there can be no peace treaty with the demonic left. When the goblin hordes of the left
00:16:09.420 petition for peace, do well to recall the words of Theoden when Saruman asked him for a peace treaty,
00:16:15.040 Quote, we will have peace, said Theoden at last, thickly and with an effort.
00:16:20.620 Several of the riders cried out gladly.
00:16:22.880 Theoden held up his hand.
00:16:24.380 We will have peace, he said now in a clear voice.
00:16:27.300 We will have peace when you and all your works have perished
00:16:30.480 and the works of your dark master to whom you would deliver us.
00:16:34.000 You are a liar, Saruman, and a corrupter of men's hearts.
00:16:37.920 You hold out your hand to me, and I perceive only a finger of the claw of Mordor, cruel and cold.
00:16:44.200 Even if your war on me was just, as it was not, were you ten times as wise,
00:16:48.920 you would have no right to rule me and mine for your own profit as you desired.
00:16:52.980 Even so, what will you say of your torches in Westfold and the children that lie dead there?
00:16:57.740 And they hewed Hama's body before the gates of the Hornburg, after he was dead.
00:17:02.820 When you hang from a gibbet at your windows for the sport of your own crows,
00:17:07.120 I will have peace with you in Orthanc.
00:17:09.320 So much for the house of Eorl, a lesser son of great sires I am.
00:17:13.680 We've been told that our Christian duty is to hate the sin, but never the sinner.
00:17:25.360 The sinner's not our enemy, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood,
00:17:28.700 but against powers and principalities in the heavenly places.
00:17:31.960 Christians have a duty, as the Lord Jesus taught us and the martyrs showed us,
00:17:35.440 to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us.
00:17:38.840 Christians, they say, must never hate, for to hate the evildoer would be a great sin.
00:17:44.280 And yet, as proves to be the case again and again
00:17:47.320 when the left attempts to weaponize the Christian faith
00:17:50.080 against Christians and Christian civilization,
00:17:52.520 there are clever lies hidden
00:17:54.100 within this overly simplistic accounting of things.
00:17:57.160 First, if it is always a sin to hate the evildoer,
00:18:00.080 then God himself sins.
00:18:02.200 Yes, passages like Proverbs 8.13 teach us
00:18:05.200 that God hates sin.
00:18:06.620 Quote, the fear of the Lord is hatred of evil,
00:18:09.000 pride and arrogance and the way of evil
00:18:11.140 and perverted speech I hate, end quote.
00:18:13.680 Our brother Paul agrees in Romans 12, 9, urging Christians to, quote,
00:18:18.360 let love be genuine, abhor what is evil, hold fast to what is good, end quote.
00:18:23.580 Christians must, like God, hate and oppose sin, starting with the sin of our own hearts,
00:18:28.460 lest we prove hypocrites.
00:18:30.200 And yet, God does not stop there.
00:18:32.720 God does not merely hate the sin and not the sinner.
00:18:35.760 For example, a passage like Proverbs 6, 16 to 19,
00:18:39.460 brings both the hatred of sin together and the sinner into one passage.
00:18:43.680 Quote, there are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him.
00:18:48.600 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.
00:18:52.680 A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil.
00:18:56.740 A false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
00:19:02.000 Did you catch that?
00:19:03.320 God doesn't just hate a lying tongue, but also the false witness who breathes out lies,
00:19:08.020 and the one who sows discord among brothers.
00:19:11.140 Those are people, not just people's sins.
00:19:13.680 But it gets even clearer.
00:19:15.380 Psalm 5, 5 and 6 says of God,
00:19:17.480 You hate all evildoers.
00:19:20.080 You destroy those who speak lies.
00:19:22.240 The Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
00:19:25.580 He hates evildoers, not just their evil deeds.
00:19:28.860 He abhors them, which is to intensely despise, to be disgusted with.
00:19:33.720 Again, this is no aberration.
00:19:35.980 Just a few chapters later in Psalm 11, verse 5, we read that,
00:19:39.540 quote, the Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence,
00:19:45.220 end quote. The whole soul of God hates the wicked. In Ezekiel 23, 38, in context of God's hatred for
00:19:52.320 the idolatrous, he says to wicked Israel through the prophet, quote, therefore I abhorred them
00:19:57.520 and took them away as something loathsome to my sight, end quote. God hates not only the sinner's
00:20:04.340 sin, but in some sense, the sinner himself. Unless you think to yourself, yes, this is something God
00:20:10.040 may do, but certainly we are never permitted to imitate him in this. God's servant must never
00:20:15.380 hate the sinner, only the sin. Well, if that's the case, then why did the Holy Spirit move the man
00:20:21.660 after God's own heart, King David, to write this at the conclusion of Psalm 139? One of those psalms
00:20:27.260 we are commanded to sing as Christians, by the way. David writes, quote, do I not hate those who hate
00:20:32.080 you, O Lord? And do I not loathe those who rise up against you? I hate them with complete hatred.
00:20:37.960 I count them my enemies. End quote. Did David sin in writing this? To claim he did, as some have
00:20:44.960 told me after my sermon this Sunday, borders on Marcionism. It denies the inspiration of the
00:20:50.560 Psalms at worst, or at best, forces us to attempt to decide which portions were good and which were
00:20:56.560 bad, throwing out some of David's verse here and treasuring others there. This is, of course,
00:21:02.540 folly. There's a better way. What if the call of the Psalms to hate both evil and evildoers in some
00:21:09.380 sense and the call of the Lord to love our enemies are not opposed to one another? What if these
00:21:14.760 passages are friends, not enemies? Because we're Christians who believe the whole Bible, we must
00:21:20.220 affirm that this is the case. God hates the sinner in some sense. We too are called to hate sinners
00:21:26.140 in some sense. It is important to understand what this does and doesn't mean. God hates sinful men
00:21:32.080 insofar as they are sinful men. His hatred of sinful men is an extension of his hatred of their
00:21:38.080 sin. Additionally, God knows all who will and will not turn and become objects of his salvation,
00:21:44.240 and so some of those whom God hates for a time, temporarily speaking, may become objects of his
00:21:49.280 love and mercy. The Apostle Paul is an obvious case in point. When the Lord calls us to love
00:21:54.320 our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, this is what it means. We do not tolerate their
00:21:59.400 sinfulness or pretend that it is good. We may pray for their downfall in divine judgment. We may
00:22:05.260 oppose them in their wicked deeds insofar as we have opportunity. But even so, we love them as
00:22:11.100 potential enemies turned brothers by praying for their repentance. We further love them by opposing
00:22:16.620 them in their evil doing. It is not, after all, loving to allow someone to freely sin and thereby
00:22:22.300 destroy both themselves and others. We do not do evil to them in return for their evil,
00:22:28.040 noting that it is not doing evil to a man to seek his just punishment before the law and society.
00:22:33.600 When I pray that the magistrate would swiftly execute Charlie's murderers, I'm not praying
00:22:38.540 for evil to occur, but rather for love to occur. If those killers were to convert, they themselves
00:22:44.460 ought to agree with the sentence. They ought to say, please give me the mercy of Christian baptism,
00:22:49.080 and then please give me the just sentence of death
00:22:51.600 I have so richly earned.
00:22:53.300 They would ask, as Joel Webin recently noted,
00:22:56.160 for water and rope, water for the baptism
00:22:58.780 and rope for the hanging.
00:23:00.780 So even when we hate sinful men in some sense,
00:23:03.540 opposing them in their evil doing,
00:23:05.300 we retain a category so long as they live
00:23:07.780 for their repentance and salvation.
00:23:10.060 So even for the most wicked of men,
00:23:11.960 we do hold out hope for repentance.
00:23:14.540 We may pray imprecation for someone
00:23:16.340 and pray for their salvation in the same breath
00:23:18.840 without hypocrisy. It is a time to hate, to oppose evil and evildoers, and tear down that which is in
00:23:26.760 accord with these things. We must be like godly Gideon, tearing down the idols of his people.
00:23:32.720 We must be like our Lord, who tore down the booths of the wicked money changers. In this way,
00:23:38.240 righteous anger may be turned to righteous action. We pray that God would bring an end to evildoers,
00:23:43.920 either by converting them, a kind of death,
00:23:46.480 or by destroying them, another kind of death.
00:23:49.280 These things take wisdom, but we are the saints of God.
00:23:52.940 God is able to make us wise in navigating even these things.
00:23:56.800 And here's the point.
00:23:58.200 Here's why I'm telling you any of this at all.
00:24:00.480 In a time like ours, a time when demonized evildoers
00:24:03.700 are carving up their own flesh and sending bullets
00:24:06.560 through the bodies of our brothers in Christ,
00:24:08.820 in a time like ours, when mutilators of the flesh
00:24:11.620 join forces against the saints,
00:24:13.420 when those who hate all that is good and oppose all mankind
00:24:16.860 tell us that they're hell-bent on destroying Christian civilization.
00:24:21.220 In times like this, the Christian must be ready to both hate and love properly.
00:24:26.400 He cannot neglect either.
00:24:28.360 It is, in fact, his love that will make him hate.
00:24:31.820 The ultimate reason behind all of it just is love.
00:24:35.160 In the face of their wickedness, we must remember that it is always a time to love.
00:24:40.360 Love God, love the brethren,
00:24:42.440 love what is good and true and beautiful
00:24:44.300 and noble and praiseworthy.
00:24:45.940 It's precisely because we love,
00:24:48.400 precisely because we're not on the side of the demons
00:24:50.660 and the devil and death,
00:24:51.900 that we hate what is evil so fervently.
00:24:54.620 It is love that makes us hate the evildoer,
00:24:57.560 hate the sin, hate the devil, hate our own flesh,
00:25:00.820 hate even the garment stained by the flesh.
00:25:03.260 Love drives all of it.
00:25:05.340 Whatever you do, do not let love grow cold.
00:25:08.500 Do not cease to earnestly love one another and to earnestly love the Lord
00:25:13.600 Don't let the hatred and wickedness of the world drive out your love
00:25:17.340 Rather let it drive you all the more into love
00:25:20.820 Let it deepen your zeal to pour out your strength and your days for your people and your God
00:25:25.860 Let it deepen your zeal to do all that you can to oppose the evildoers making a wreck of all that is lovely
00:25:31.960 And this is why by the way we can pity even the most wretched of sinners because they live without the love of God
00:25:38.460 They live without natural affection.
00:25:40.660 The worst punishment that they will get
00:25:42.220 is exactly what they want,
00:25:44.020 even as they curse God and oppose all mankind.
00:25:46.560 They will get eternity without the love of the God
00:25:49.320 they so hate.
00:25:50.540 They will get what they want and they will despair,
00:25:53.280 even as the saints inherit all things
00:25:55.300 and shine with glory forever.
00:25:58.100 That's where our brother Charlie is right now,
00:26:00.540 shining with glory in the presence of God
00:26:02.780 as all the saints in heaven
00:26:04.460 await the final trumpet call of resurrection.
00:26:07.240 He has run his race.
00:26:08.540 He has won his prize.
00:26:09.980 He has finished well.
00:26:11.220 He has heard his well-done, good and faithful servant.
00:26:14.240 The only question now is how you will run your race.
00:26:18.400 The King's Hall Podcast exists to make self-ruled men rule well and win the world.
00:26:33.880 Well, welcome to this episode of the King's Hall Podcast.
00:26:36.280 I'm one of your hosts, Eric Kahn, joined today by pastor, my friend, Brian Silve.
00:26:41.520 Thanks for that introduction, Eric.
00:26:43.440 It's good to be here with you.
00:26:44.760 It is good to be here with you.
00:26:46.980 It is terrible to be discussing any of this.
00:26:49.940 Yeah.
00:26:51.680 A lot of shock this past week, a lot of range of emotion, as you talked about in the cold open.
00:26:58.720 I guess just walk me through it.
00:27:00.660 you know we're looking at this particularly charlie kirk's assassination from a pastoral
00:27:05.820 perspective a lot of people in our church like many churches that are going to be anywhere on
00:27:11.160 the conservative spectrum yeah uh we're deeply affected yeah um so i i guess just let's talk
00:27:17.420 about the response yeah uh as you mentioned we got out of our recording yeah last week we were
00:27:23.060 talking about arena zarutska yeah which was shocking enough yeah that was already i mean
00:27:28.060 we went into that episode with sort of a sobriety and somberness yeah um and we stepped out and we
00:27:35.100 were kind of discussion discussing with the pastors just out in the the basement here yeah
00:27:39.740 and somebody said he had been shot of course we start watching videos and immediately we're like
00:27:45.720 oh no i saw meg basham's tweet yeah and at first it was like i misread it a little bit and i had
00:27:53.680 almost read it like shot at like that there had been a shot that someone shot at him generally but
00:27:58.700 it wasn't and then it was like wait shot like what and i looked back and it was no he was shot
00:28:03.380 at utah valley university and they were like utah i didn't even know he's here i've been super busy
00:28:09.200 with all kinds of different projects kind of head down for a few weeks here not really paying
00:28:14.900 attention to what was going on and then um so it was just an absolute shock all of it like wait a
00:28:22.140 second how where is that that's like that's like an hour away yeah that's we know where that is
00:28:26.860 are any of our church members there because at this point you think about it usually when these
00:28:32.800 kinds of events happen we usually have people at them yeah and tucker's been here yep and usually
00:28:38.080 there's multiple casualties because almost any time um a leftist starts shooting they kill
00:28:45.040 multiple people like the father camp what was his name camp adore the uh the the the gentleman
00:28:51.940 killed at butler yeah butler pennsylvania and so we were just like hey who's there let's check
00:28:57.440 the signal chat but it was like within about five minutes of you've kind of done everything
00:29:03.240 that you can do and then it was like just a heaviness settled in the room we're all
00:29:08.120 just praying for him and um not knowing at that point you're seeing the updates
00:29:13.440 What it really is, a lot of people have said this, but I've felt this way throughout, that it is true.
00:29:19.840 This has been a really pivotal moment in American history.
00:29:24.540 To me, this one hit harder than did 9-11.
00:29:27.680 I was younger.
00:29:28.900 I was in high school when that happened.
00:29:31.160 Were you born at that point?
00:29:33.300 Was I born?
00:29:34.660 I remember the moment.
00:29:35.560 We were here in Utah.
00:29:36.480 We were in Layton.
00:29:37.680 We had moved off of Hill Air Force Base.
00:29:39.920 I was in elementary school.
00:29:41.160 I was 10.
00:29:43.440 yeah 10 almost 11 and uh remember it very vividly one of my strongest memories is 9 11
00:29:50.020 obviously uh my wife also she she was in dc for the shooter for the sniper killings and then
00:29:58.300 they were in dc for the for 9 11 the beltway sniper so they were like it was a terrible time
00:30:03.660 that they were in dc and so for her it's a very core memory as well but something about this i
00:30:09.340 will never forget as long as i live when we were just we were all kind of gathered around a table
00:30:15.400 just right outside this door of the studio and and um someone i think it might have been you had
00:30:21.980 pulled up just looking at the posts and we saw the video and just not prepared because at that
00:30:28.660 point we were wondering how serious it was is this does he have a vest on did he get shot
00:30:33.460 was he immediate the immediate thought when i when i heard it when you first said it was
00:30:38.520 you know maybe a handgun or something somebody walked up to him yeah you know like a more
00:30:44.420 survivable but when we saw that and it wasn't even the worst video that came out later
00:30:48.960 every single one of us instantly said it will be a miracle if he survives this yeah um it just it
00:30:57.480 looked so bad and it was like an immediate just i think everybody that experienced will will know
00:31:03.300 exactly what I mean. Everyone who saw that video just felt a lead weight.
00:31:16.360 In 2023, Indigo Sundries became one of our sponsors. At the time, their business was little
00:31:21.300 more than a side hobby generating a couple hundred dollars a month. But because of their partnership
00:31:25.480 with us and because all of you chose to support them, they've grown enough to make it their full
00:31:29.320 time livelihood. This is what happens when Christians support Christians. Our communities
00:31:33.060 are strengthened and faithful businesses thrive. So if you're a Christian business owner who wants
00:31:37.240 to reach thousands of like-minded people and grow your company, we'd love to partner with you.
00:31:41.560 Email us at advertising at newchristendompress.com.
00:31:49.960 Yeah, I think it's different to the 9-11 because 9-11, I think for many of us,
00:31:56.240 the waking up point hadn't come. And so 9-11 was like, okay, we think it's, and media was way
00:32:02.000 different, right? You had the mainstream channels basically, which is what everybody watched. That
00:32:07.300 was it. You didn't have X. Local news just repeated what was on the wire. Yeah. You didn't
00:32:11.440 have independent journalists or anything like that. And I think a big part of it too was 9-11
00:32:17.600 was used as a rallying point to unify America against Islamic threat overseas. And I know
00:32:25.540 that was the narrative, but that was in effect what it did. Absolutely. It unified the country
00:32:31.600 against a common enemy.
00:32:33.020 Yeah.
00:32:33.680 Again, whether that was real or not,
00:32:36.220 obviously we question that now.
00:32:37.820 Yeah, it moves so slow.
00:32:39.260 That was the net effect in society.
00:32:41.640 This is way different.
00:32:42.840 Oh, absolutely.
00:32:43.880 I think Owen Troyer had a really good podcast yesterday
00:32:47.340 and he was talking about how this has brought us
00:32:50.440 really to a turning point,
00:32:51.460 but it's brought us to the realization
00:32:53.480 we had the election of Trump.
00:32:56.020 Everybody thought we were going to clean the swamp out
00:32:58.380 and release the files and all this stuff was going to happen.
00:33:00.840 and instead what is now in focus is our government is still as corrupt as it's ever been right the
00:33:07.660 deep state seems to be working at full force yeah um one thing i do want to plug in the after hours
00:33:14.200 we'll talk more about some of the theories behind this some of the discontinuity like just the the
00:33:19.920 strange aspects this is one of the benefits of the it's a benefit and it's a it's a challenge
00:33:28.520 as well the speed of news yes and also that you have you just have guys on the ground with cell
00:33:34.380 phones being like they can immediately post something and elon musk 10 minutes later can be
00:33:38.280 reposting that's right um and so one thing it can do is it can give you a lot of false information
00:33:43.560 quickly yep and so we have to be very wise about what we believe right away yeah um but the other
00:33:49.440 thing that it can do is it can as it has done dispel a lot of the mainstream narratives almost
00:33:55.040 immediately when you see all these contradictions yeah i mean i have spent quite a bit of time
00:34:00.800 partly because of haunted cosmos partly because of just interest looking at the jfk assassination
00:34:05.800 the senate committee on assassinations the mlk assassination and so because of that anybody
00:34:14.660 that's done that is aware of how deep the rock goes in intelligence agencies and in the reporting
00:34:23.240 of these things and how manipulated they can be. Just as one example in the MLK assassination,
00:34:30.300 Ben and I actually did an episode of Haunted Cosmos on this in our MK Ultra series beginning
00:34:36.380 of last season. But the shooter allegedly in the Martin Luther King Jr. assassination shot from a
00:34:42.580 certain window. It was a bathroom window, common like a hotel room with a bathroom that they all
00:34:48.200 shared at the end of the hall he gets up he shoots mlk through this window and um okay but the
00:34:56.320 problem is that there was a huge big tree that grew up right in front of that window that made
00:35:01.860 it so he had no shot from that window this is still the official narrative this is james earl
00:35:06.620 right yeah james are right the very night that the shooting happened overnight i believe is the fbi
00:35:13.440 but local law enforcement and the FBI had that tree cut down and they claimed that it was to
00:35:20.900 aid the investigation. They cut down this tree that would have completely invalidated the whole
00:35:26.560 theory based on the angle of where he was shot. And so you look at that, it's just one little
00:35:31.960 piece. There's a million, we went deep in the rabbit hole there. Okay. That's one example of
00:35:35.780 when news moved slow and it was much easier to maintain narratives. Nobody knew this a lot better
00:35:41.480 At the time. Yeah. Today, there is so much speed and information. It's actually much, in some ways, it's harder to accomplish these conspiracies. In some ways, it's easier because they can obfuscate it in so many layers of, well, false news comes out, conspiracy theories, that sort of thing.
00:36:00.040 so all that to say i always withhold my conclusion like that's the instinct that i have is just
00:36:07.540 i i will not form a firm conviction in 10 minutes on on anything so i think yeah we can talk more
00:36:14.440 about that in the after hours yeah so we'll be like the meme with the guy and the yeah you know
00:36:19.300 all the yarn on the board we'll talk more about that um so be sure to sign up for patreon uh we
00:36:25.340 do appreciate all of our supporters by the way can't make this show possible without you guys
00:36:29.360 and this kind of ties in i think to as i've read more about charlie kirk of course there's been
00:36:35.380 reports of pressure from donors this really is something that we thought a lot about in the
00:36:40.820 founding of this media company new christian press was we don't want to be swayed by that
00:36:46.020 yeah we don't want donors to be calling the shots about what we say we want to be able to speak
00:36:53.000 freely which was something that i think was important to charlie yeah and so uh yeah just
00:36:58.920 just to remind you guys patron support is so pivotal we want to continue to speak the truth
00:37:04.020 and do good things and hopefully it's edifying so you know please do support yeah find the content
00:37:09.520 valuable a lot of hands touch any of the things we do whether bright hearth hard men king's hall
00:37:14.200 my music many hands touch any one thing we do and we would like to we hire christians in our
00:37:20.600 community we like to pay them well take care of our people but also be unbought so you guys are
00:37:27.340 the ones who make this possible and we i'm deeply thankful like it very deeply thankful for that
00:37:32.860 in the wake of some of this news yeah it hadn't hit me with force until you and i were discussing
00:37:38.640 and it was like wow that is that is insane how money shapes so much of this yeah and how many
00:37:47.800 of the strings come from the money yep yeah really important to to weigh that um one thing i want to
00:37:54.560 ask you just as um you preached on this uh sunday in church people can find that sermon we posted it
00:38:00.920 yeah pretty much everywhere um one of the things we've seen across the board is a lot of rhinos
00:38:06.240 and people on the right spencer cox one of them calling for unity saying things like the shooter
00:38:11.540 was one of us right um he even went so far on cnn to say you know charlie kirk has said a lot of
00:38:17.380 offensive things he referred to the alleged shooters alleged trans boyfriend alleged is an
00:38:24.940 important word here uh he referred to he said well i want to make sure i use the proper pronouns when
00:38:30.740 i'm addressing this person one of the things that's coming out in all of this though is
00:38:36.020 there's sort of this debate on the right about do we unify with evil is this a time to call for
00:38:43.320 unity. And so I just want to get your thoughts on that. Obviously you delivered a sermon titled
00:38:49.360 A Time to Hate. A Time to Hate. Yeah. I mean, so you said it a minute ago, that was actually a
00:38:54.640 light bulb for me. 9-11 was a monumental event in our nation's history and it galvanized a group of
00:39:02.580 people against another group of people. And that was America against terrorism outside of our
00:39:10.160 borders, Islamic terrorism. And so for a time, there were cracks in that it formed and there
00:39:15.200 was always some dissent, but very unified America for at least a period of time. Charlie Kirk's
00:39:21.120 murder has galvanized a group of people against another group of people, but those groups are
00:39:25.680 both within the borders of the United States. Yes. And that's a very dangerous situation.
00:39:30.780 It's a very, very dangerous situation. But when you look, when you start to look at the question,
00:39:36.460 why is it a dangerous situation whose fault is it to me it couldn't be more clear it is the left's
00:39:42.660 fault it's because the left are evil baby murdering um child disfiguring anti-civilization ghouls
00:39:52.180 who hate all that is good and true and beautiful and all of those features are enmeshed in their
00:39:58.400 actual fundamental platform they hate everything good true and beautiful they are opponents of all
00:40:05.960 mankind. And so, and because they are fundamentally irrational, they can't win arguments in the level
00:40:14.200 of civil discourse. You can't have a Lincoln Douglas style debate that is profitable with
00:40:19.160 the left because it won't sway any of them because they're not fundamentally persuaded
00:40:23.420 by arguments. They're fundamentally possessed by demons and given over to their sin. So those
00:40:28.760 people, when they're faced with arguments, like we said in the cold open, what do they do?
00:40:31.940 they kill they do what marxist communist revolutionaries have always done which is
00:40:39.200 subvert foment violence and insurrection and rule by revolution and then tyranny so the it's not the
00:40:46.760 case that there's like the right and the left and everybody each on both sides has some good points
00:40:50.660 and we need to sort of meet in the middle neath that old georgia pine we've kind of heard this
00:40:55.140 even from some republican senators i think one of them was in oklahoma the lady uh no it was a dude
00:41:01.800 I forget the name.
00:41:02.720 We'll have to look that up.
00:41:03.660 But yeah, he said, you know, both sides have, you know, evil and both sides that, you know, violence isn't specific to the left.
00:41:11.420 Yeah.
00:41:12.100 And I think you can look at this event and, you know, I was comparing it like many people to 2020 in George Floyd.
00:41:18.420 The events with George Floyd happened in Minneapolis.
00:41:21.120 You have rioting and looting.
00:41:23.120 Yeah.
00:41:24.080 Burning and police precincts across the country.
00:41:26.200 There was a lot of left violence.
00:41:28.100 Antifa, Kyle Rittenhouse comes out of this.
00:41:30.080 it is quite distinct that when charlie kirk one of the key figures for especially young americans
00:41:37.840 um but even this week i was finding talking to church members the older people were listening
00:41:42.860 to him on a daily weekly basis he was a voice of conservative values in america and when he gets
00:41:49.320 murdered and assassinated for the whole world to see what do people do they have prayer vigils
00:41:55.580 Yeah. There's a call for people to go to church. There's a call for people to
00:42:01.340 preach the gospel louder. And so I look at that and I said, how can you look at that situation
00:42:07.740 and say, you know, violence isn't specific to either right or left? No. And it's, it's a great
00:42:13.440 case in point that the left is fundamentally built on evil and irrationality. You can't reason with
00:42:18.920 them. Think about Derek Chauvin and George Floyd. One of the things that Charlie Kirk got
00:42:25.440 a lot of hate for, that people literally hated him for, was saying Derek Chauvin should be
00:42:30.140 pardoned. Okay, why should Derek Chauvin be pardoned though? Well, because George Floyd
00:42:35.480 did not die from the actions of Derek Chauvin. George Floyd died from the actions of George
00:42:41.180 Floyd. He overdosed on fentanyl. The coroner agrees that it was not because of Derek Chauvin
00:42:47.820 that he died. He was saying, I can't breathe before Derek Chauvin even got there. And in
00:42:53.080 Derek Chauvin's trial, which was a political show trial, Derek Chauvin was not even permitted
00:42:58.280 to enter into evidence. The very police manual that his police department used to train him
00:43:06.060 demonstrating that that restraint technique was an approved restraint technique taught to him
00:43:13.560 to subdue people who were resisting arrest like George Floyd. Particularly who are ODing.
00:43:19.320 So the left, they're faced with this situation and this became clear quite, it didn't take that long for this information to get out. And what did they do? They caused billions in property damage. They looted, they burned things to the ground and they killed people. That's what the left did.
00:43:36.000 And they did it to Saint, a martyr who was a low-life thug who killed himself with his own low-life thug behavior.
00:43:44.720 And then they unjustly destroyed the life of a man who was a symbol of law and order, who was simply upholding law and order in the way that he was trained to do as an officer of the law.
00:43:55.900 So what a perfect illustration of the left's fundamental irrationality and evil.
00:44:02.520 You cannot reason with them.
00:44:04.240 All of this stuff's in the public data.
00:44:06.800 Yeah, and it goes back a long time.
00:44:08.260 I've been rereading a book called The Days of Rage.
00:44:11.360 We mentioned, Chris Ruffo talks about it in his book as well,
00:44:14.000 but the weathermen and the socialist Marxist uprisings of the 70s,
00:44:19.560 they were bombing, they were killing people.
00:44:22.000 This is nothing new.
00:44:23.400 Violence has always been part of the Marxist mindset and regime.
00:44:27.660 In fact, I didn't even know this until these events kicked off,
00:44:31.360 but in salt lake city we had the no kings you remember oh yeah yeah we had the no kings events
00:44:37.680 and there were multiples of these but one was in salt lake city and somebody got murdered by one
00:44:41.880 of the people somebody walked up a leftist walked into a crowd with a gun and and i think it was
00:44:46.940 like unintentional but unintentional right but like some fashion designer who was just there got shot
00:44:53.440 and killed and again it was i say that was interesting because our media didn't really
00:44:59.920 report that even at a local level no uh one of the things we're finding too i think at the state
00:45:06.500 level you know steve bannon has talked about that a lot of people have talked about this but utah
00:45:11.300 has a major problem um so a friend of the church sent us a photo of from a coffee shop from like a
00:45:19.520 month ago and it was this group armed queers of salt lake city yeah and so we started digging
00:45:24.900 into that later that day i shared it and then later that day news broke that that group that
00:45:30.440 very exact same group armed queers was under fbi investigation related to the assassination but
00:45:36.640 it's a militant underground you you read about them in the cold open yep what was interesting
00:45:41.880 is as people were digging into this group um it's a leader they've got photos allegedly they seem
00:45:48.980 true but she's got photos with like elizabeth warren speaking at events but the group is funded
00:45:55.700 adjacently through the state department and through taxpayer grants yep hundreds of thousands
00:46:00.640 of dollars um and did a lot of work with uvu and stuff like this so you're looking at this and
00:46:06.180 you're saying okay spencer cox uh huge fan he vetoed of course the bill against trans bathroom
00:46:13.200 bill trans well trans sports bill that's right yeah that's correct uh phil lyman has been
00:46:18.200 reporting on this he was on with bannon as well but phil's like yeah no spencer cox stole the
00:46:22.680 election that's why charlie kirk was here uh even last year with trent staggs and he was talking
00:46:28.800 about what a sham it was that spencer cox is even the governor apparently didn't have the requisite
00:46:32.900 votes they passed a bill to bypass the uh basically the the standard gop process caucus
00:46:41.540 process for getting somebody elected in the state of utah so you have a lot of fraud going on yeah
00:46:46.560 in the state of utah what was his son uh yeah his son was like a loud advocate for trans
00:46:52.400 stuff in the state there's been news articles this is the conservative
00:46:55.920 governor and charlie kirk had posted like yeah spencer cox should be removed from office this
00:47:03.080 is a total sham so it's just kind of again as you're connecting these dots not necessarily
00:47:08.180 drawing any conclusions other than this is really bad and it all seems to be connected
00:47:11.940 Spencer Cox had spoken in 2017 at UVU, same, same college campus about the problem of white supremacy.
00:47:20.540 Yeah.
00:47:21.100 So really what I think you have, what is obvious, you have an absolute leftist posing as a Republican,
00:47:28.880 eventually would go on to support Trump once it became obvious that like, you know, he had to.
00:47:34.580 But, but even in our state, you know, you have Mike Lee, based Mike Lee, who will say a lot of base stuff.
00:47:39.740 Yeah.
00:47:40.300 But then Mike ended up supporting the Spencer Cox election.
00:47:45.200 Well, and this is the problem of the Mormon church is that it's similar.
00:47:47.560 They have a veneer of conservative politics and reputation from the historic norms of
00:47:53.920 the Mormon church being very pro-family, large families, that kind of thing.
00:47:58.720 And yet, at least for the last 20 years, the Mormon church has been liberalizing radically
00:48:04.140 and they are very much a liberal organization.
00:48:07.580 um the kids i went to school with mormons mostly mormons here in utah um so many of them a huge
00:48:16.100 percentage of them are total liberals they're pro-lgbtq um those that are married have very
00:48:23.440 few children they are in every way except externally going to mormon wards every sunday
00:48:28.780 they're they are total liberals they're not stalwart conservatives now some of the young men
00:48:33.900 are. You see the divide in the Zoomers and in the younger millennials as well. There's a lot of
00:48:39.180 divide between the men and the women, men being more conservative, women being very liberal
00:48:44.200 feminist. The Mormon church, though, is very much an establishment, respectability. Mitt Romney's a
00:48:51.320 perfect example of a Mormon. For example, Spencer Cox, a perfect example of a Mormon. I know there
00:48:57.200 are conservative mormons my neighbor when i lived in riverdale was old guy he's a libertarian kind
00:49:06.020 of guy but like when the prophet when the mormon church said all the stuff in 2020 about masks and
00:49:11.980 whatnot and they were like you know you make sure you distance and all this stuff they were super
00:49:16.500 locked down you kind of gay he was like well i got the spirit too which to him meant i'm not
00:49:22.860 listening to the prophet. And I was like, doesn't, isn't he supposed to be like the mouthpiece of
00:49:28.900 God for you guys? He was like, well, you know, I mean, theological problems aside, you have guys
00:49:34.300 like that and you have young, Trent Staggs is a good example of a very conservative Mormon
00:49:39.840 in politics in Utah. But as the average and from the elites of Mormonism, especially
00:49:46.820 they are absolutely worthless politically speaking. Yeah. I think I've talked about
00:49:51.740 this before but last year i watched like the big mormon convention they put on tv local tv here
00:49:57.160 and everything was like dei talking points oh yeah we need to be more multicultural
00:50:01.920 it's also interesting too because um intelligence communities love to use missionaries to you know
00:50:10.600 because it's easy to cross borders and be involved in organizations they love missionaries they love
00:50:15.980 pastors they love catholic priests yeah and a big part of that is there's a lot of connections with
00:50:20.500 ukraine and the mormon missionary movements and and questions about you know which people are
00:50:26.920 doing what activities uh we've seen photos spencer cox obviously has met with uh zelinski
00:50:33.140 um and also israel so there's just a lot of things that you're saying like
00:50:38.040 by the way this is really interesting um it was actually one of our staff members pointed this
00:50:44.600 out you saw the bill that they're trying to pass i think it was marco rubio could be wrong here
00:50:50.360 So fact check this. But they're trying to pass a bill basically where it's like illegal in Florida.
00:50:57.560 But then Lauren Boebert does the same thing the day of the assassination, day after passing a bill, basically where government won't do work with people who are boycotting Israel.
00:51:05.420 Yes. Utah has had that on the books for a long time.
00:51:08.860 The state of Utah will not do business with contractors who are anti-Israel.
00:51:15.140 and it's kind of weird here because you're like what does the state of israel the nation of israel
00:51:21.880 have to do with the state of utah why would that even be a concern yeah of local legislation and
00:51:29.240 and also because we don't have like an anti-israel movement here in utah no not prominently it's like
00:51:36.300 i i've never heard hardly anybody no and one of the reasons is because of mormonism mormonism if
00:51:41.260 people might not know this who are not familiar with Mormonism. Mormonism is like, in some ways,
00:51:47.680 dispensationalism turned to 100 because their founding mythology is that the Native Americans
00:51:54.700 of North America are a lost tribe of Israel, that they are Jews, basically.
00:52:02.800 Which has also been debunked.
00:52:03.980 Well, what happened is, and I remember this when I was in elementary school,
00:52:07.260 because I used to carry around a binder of Mormon apologetics. I got in a lot of trouble
00:52:10.620 for it in school. I was a good kid, like 4-0 student, all that full ride scholarship. But
00:52:16.200 if I got in trouble for one thing and it was telling Mormons that Joseph Smith was a false
00:52:22.440 prophet and that they needed to repent and turn to Christ. And one of the things was that in the
00:52:26.760 opening preamble to the book of Mormon, when I was growing up, it said that this narrative,
00:52:33.180 that the native Americans are chiefly descended from this lost tribe of Israel. Well, this book,
00:52:38.720 documentary came out called DNA versus the book of Mormon that showed through DNA studies that
00:52:43.960 absolutely not. Like they're just not related to any people groups from there. They're, you know,
00:52:49.560 they mainly from Siberia and Asiatic peoples that came over the Siberian land bridge and all this
00:52:53.780 kind of stuff. And in the post flood ice age is what I would say. And so they changed it. God
00:53:00.080 changed his mind. He's done it over 4,000 times at this point with the book of Mormon in terms
00:53:04.100 of fundamental edits. Um, and he said, well, they're part of the descendants. They're not
00:53:09.300 the chief descendants anymore. Uh, I, I, I have still to this day, a 1967 book of Mormon doctrine
00:53:15.940 and covenants. And then, you know, the most common one, and I have both because it's just
00:53:19.920 a totally different book, uh, from, from what it was originally. So take all of that. And then
00:53:25.520 you could see why the, the politics would be influenced by this. Uh, Mormonism comes out of
00:53:32.580 the 19th century obsession with Israel and lost tribes dispensationalism all in the air at this
00:53:40.200 point. Uh, we did an episode early in the King's hall on, you know, the revivalistic tradition,
00:53:46.360 but, uh, Mormonism, Joseph Smith and Disby stuff all kind of comes about in that same weird,
00:53:54.820 same New York region, same time period. Yeah. Same time period. So that kind of does make sense.
00:53:59.280 It maps that Mormons are the way they are politically when it comes to Israel.
00:54:03.440 They're just not going to be an anti-Zionist kind of.
00:54:07.020 They're just not.
00:54:08.180 Yeah.
00:54:08.400 It's also interesting.
00:54:09.620 One of the big points of conversation right now, I actually don't think this one is being talked about enough.
00:54:16.760 So when you look at Israel and the pressure that they were allegedly putting on Charlie Kirk, Charlie was aware that the young people in America were turning against Israel.
00:54:25.460 I think this part isn't like not disputed.
00:54:28.920 Yeah.
00:54:29.280 the 25% or less of young, like Gen Z is in support of Israel. And we heard, I think it's
00:54:39.880 Matt Brooks, but it's Brooks with the Republican Jewish group talking to his Jewish friends in
00:54:48.460 Aspen and saying that like, even Netanyahu is like, we got to make war on the woke right.
00:54:54.680 We got to make war on anti-Semitism in the GOP because if Israel doesn't have the support of the GOP, Israel will cease to be as a nation.
00:55:02.240 So this is why they're thinking through, OK, this is actually an existential threat.
00:55:06.360 If it is true that Charlie was kind of turning on the Netanyahu government and because he has such influence and sway over young people.
00:55:16.280 Now, one of the things I would take away from all of that, regardless of how that whole narrative plays out, young people are pivotal.
00:55:24.680 in the future of the country. This should be obvious. Yeah, they're going to be the
00:55:29.500 other people are going to die and they're still going to be here. That's right. But I do think
00:55:35.280 especially this is one of those where I think like we kind of like stumbled into this with
00:55:39.580 masculinity and speaking truth to young people and saying true things, but also realizing if
00:55:46.680 you're speaking to young people and being influential, which I think we have been to
00:55:51.220 some extent then that is also going to cause problems this is why people will attack you
00:55:57.580 because it because they're saying hey there's an there's a approved narrative you're speaking to
00:56:03.820 young people being very influential but you're not speaking the approved narrative no this causes
00:56:08.700 real problems even the reform camp we've seen a lot of division over this issue oddly enough
00:56:13.900 related to israel and they seem to be a lot of the same talking points that brooks and netanyahu
00:56:18.480 seem to be worried about. I just think this is going to be a continual fight ongoing is who has
00:56:25.080 the ear of young folks. Yeah. And one of the features I think of the conversation right now
00:56:31.600 is that young people, Zoomers and under, millennials as well, but especially Zoomers and
00:56:37.480 under, they grew up in basically a totalitarian thought police state where they were not allowed
00:56:43.640 to think. They were not allowed to speak. They were not, there was, it was not a free speech
00:56:48.240 zone that they grew up in. They knew that there would be absolutely real social and life
00:56:55.580 consequences for them if they violated the blasphemy laws of leftism in any of the
00:57:01.400 institutions they grew up in. Which includes the post-liberal consensus. All of the post-war
00:57:05.740 consensus stuff. So what happens when that spell begins to break is that one of the things they're
00:57:11.520 going to value above anything is telling the truth. A case in point of this where we've run
00:57:16.340 into controversy, but it's funny, the divide is that much of the controversy settles in older
00:57:22.020 generations, Gen X and baby boomers and kind of the older generations. And then also a lot of the
00:57:27.740 older millennials, but then younger millennials and Zoomers were like, what's wrong? You guys
00:57:32.060 are just telling the truth. This is crazy. People are mad at you for this. Centers around some of
00:57:35.440 the race conversation where the approved narrative is basically that everything is culture and race
00:57:40.500 has absolutely nothing to do with culture whatsoever and if you ever posit that it has
00:57:44.600 anything to do we're going to immediately censor you we're going to tell you no no you have to
00:57:49.040 you know button that up and come it's all about culture culture culture culture it's nothing to
00:57:53.880 do with race well then you start to find out that um this is actually a much more complicated topic
00:57:59.480 than that and race and culture and religion and politics and history are all interwoven together
00:58:05.660 in a tight mesh where you tug on one thing and you're tugging on the other things too um so not
00:58:11.680 that you become like racial um determinists where everything is race 100 it's race everything's you
00:58:19.220 can tell everything you need to know about someone just based on their race well that'd be retarded
00:58:23.280 right that'd be stupid but it would also be stupid to say biology has absolutely nothing to do with
00:58:29.600 anything race has nothing to do with anything so we started talking about these things in the course
00:58:34.040 of many other conversations, politically, socially, ethically, religiously, all this stuff.
00:58:38.040 And talking about it in a way that I feel like it's very just sober minded and factual and like
00:58:45.080 pretty vanilla, like, well, this is true. And this is true. And we were surprised, I think,
00:58:50.700 with how much reviling hatred, slander, all this opposition that this engendered amongst those
00:58:57.760 older generations, now some younger too. But what's been wild is that the younger generations,
00:59:02.480 they're like, they are 10 times more likely to listen to you. If you will have shown that you're
00:59:09.720 willing to say a true thing that violates the blasphemy law and the taboo, and then stand on
00:59:14.480 it when you have opposition. And we've experienced that as well. Where a huge number of young people
00:59:19.580 are like, even young people who respect opponents, some of the opponents and say like, I still have
00:59:23.660 respect for them. I just think they're wrong on this. Don't move because you're just telling the
00:59:28.760 truth. And the thing is, the more you discover that an issue is someone, something that you get
00:59:32.840 huge trouble for telling the truth about, the more important that issue probably is to tell
00:59:36.060 the truth about per Solzhenitsyn. Yeah. And I think part of it is people are connecting the
00:59:41.120 dots, right? They're saying, okay, following the civil rights era, outflow that was critical race
00:59:48.860 theory, DEI wokeness, you know, the policing of speech at the corporate level with HR departments,
00:59:55.180 um you know twitter social media before x it was all that way too but i think a big part of it
01:00:02.220 also was that people started to see that when you were called a racist or a sexist or misogynist or
01:00:08.520 a bigot the now extension of that is you're an anti-semite and there's actually a lot of videos
01:00:16.360 even with charlie kirk where he's saying wait i'm an anti-semite because i questioned some of the
01:00:22.100 things the Netanyahu regime is doing in Israel. He's like, I've been one of the most pro-Israel
01:00:27.360 people. And to the day he died, Charlie was not anti the state of Israel existing. And he wasn't
01:00:34.640 anti. He was very much in favor of the state of Israel existing in the region. Like Charlie Kirk
01:00:40.340 is a moderate. Charlie Kirk was not like a, I want Israel to be wiped off the map tomorrow kind
01:00:46.060 of guy. He never was. Any of his criticisms were particular criticisms that had to do with this or
01:00:51.800 that or this politician and his policy the justice of this war the way it's like they were classic
01:00:56.900 charlie kirk type talking points yeah right and if he's being called an anti-semi for that but it
01:01:04.340 right and i think a lot of the young people were like well wait a minute this is the same play
01:01:09.000 exactly this is also interesting this ran today in the times of israel this is from ben ari grossman
01:01:16.000 and from an article he says the list goes on but the point is clear charlie kirk was an extreme
01:01:21.760 extremist racist misogynist fascist undeniably kirk was an evil man who dedicated his life
01:01:28.580 spreading hate it is doubtful that his devotion to israel stemmed from genuine solidarity with
01:01:33.860 jewish history and zionist ideology so there are i think that's kind of what i'm talking about with
01:01:41.280 the blowback like and that's what charlie was saying like you're saying i'm not pro-israel
01:01:46.500 enough. Yeah. Now, of course, you've got TPUSA who's like funded by Israeli money and Jewish
01:01:54.540 donors. And that obviously has to be considered in the narrative, I think, because you're going
01:02:00.280 through this. But again, going back to the point, I think for us and for a lot of people who want to
01:02:06.640 make an impact on society for righteous causes, you have to consider the young people. And this
01:02:11.700 is why so many of us have been saying for so long you have to stop using the leftist tactics against
01:02:18.620 young people yeah they won't work they do not work what you have to do is use the truth and
01:02:23.780 you have to reason with them and actually i think charlie understood this which is why he was so
01:02:28.020 effective on college campuses is because he could go there and he could have a reasoned debate with
01:02:33.020 people and you know i think a lot of his arguments were very persuasive and they were very effective
01:02:39.760 It's not that when we say that the answer isn't just reasonable dialogue in the marketplace of ideas, the point isn't that you don't deploy reason. The point isn't that you don't deploy good arguments and demonstrate the falsity of other bad arguments. The point is that you have to do more, though. You're not actually going to defeat the left by doing that. Right. Because the left is fundamentally evil and irrational. What you what you will do if you do that. And Charlie Kirk is a good example of this. And why we need to keep doing the type of things Charlie did, I think, in many ways is he persuaded lots of people.
01:03:09.760 who had grown up in the midst of all of this
01:03:13.200 and didn't have words for a lot of the things
01:03:15.320 that they saw and felt.
01:03:17.100 And then Charlie Kirk showed up
01:03:18.780 and he would say something
01:03:21.160 and he would have a dialogue with a crazy person
01:03:23.760 and he would start to put words to the things
01:03:26.160 and they would go, that's what I've been feeling.
01:03:27.960 That's what I've been thinking.
01:03:29.320 And so a lot of young people
01:03:30.820 that didn't have well-formed ideologies
01:03:33.440 because the left doesn't give you a well-formed ideology.
01:03:36.740 It just gives you frothing emotion and evil.
01:03:38.860 uh it was and and sloganism very thin sloganism so many people that weren't solidly intellectually
01:03:45.800 leftist and actually felt the wrongness of society they felt it on some level charlie kirk function
01:03:51.260 to come in and the reason so many young people were moved to vote for trump because of him
01:03:55.120 is because he would give words to what they all thought were true from the beginning a great
01:04:01.080 example of this is a dialogue he had with i saw a reel a clip of him with a young black college
01:04:07.220 student. And of course the young black college student was like, Charlie Kirk, you're a huge
01:04:10.940 racist, huge, massive racist. He's like, why am I huge racist? Well, you said this about black
01:04:18.300 crime and you've said that black violence is the biggest problem. And you're such a liar. It's
01:04:24.100 racism is the biggest problem. Charlie's like, well, you know, you explain it. He couldn't,
01:04:28.320 he said, pull up the crime statistics, someone else, not me, someone next to him pulls up.
01:04:31.880 And Charlie's like saying, well, this is true. And he's like, that's such a lie. And he'd be like,
01:04:35.020 show him. He pulls it up. He's like, it's right here. And the guy'd be like, oh, and he would
01:04:39.040 just see his whole, he had no argument. He didn't even, he wasn't even aware of these statistics,
01:04:44.140 this black young man. And the point isn't that that guy was one in that exchange. Like he
01:04:50.960 doubled down into further idiocy until the end of the exchange. But you look around in that clip
01:04:58.740 and he's surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of college students who just watched the whole thing.
01:05:03.440 and it was an emperor has no clothes moment yeah and many of those people all of a sudden who
01:05:08.560 walked into that could not have articulated the problems with the leftist narrative of race and
01:05:15.460 racial violence and criminality in the black community and they walked away with they might
01:05:22.780 not have known everything but one thing they did know is that the foundational mythology of leftism
01:05:26.760 was shattered irreparably so that is very helpful but we have to see that that is not reason
01:05:33.000 persuading the left they'll they're never going to change that is giving a narrative to millions
01:05:38.980 of people who have been swayed by these wicked things and then causing them to think and causing
01:05:45.060 them an awakening moment it's why like solzhenitsyn's point about telling the truth in the
01:05:50.960 context of communism is so powerful is because the system enforces a false truth on everybody
01:05:57.900 and some significant portion of that everybody knows deep in their bones that that false truth
01:06:02.800 is a false truth and when you say the truth out loud which is often the taboo because that by
01:06:09.100 definition the enforcement of a false truth is to enforce a taboo on the truth then it breaks the
01:06:14.840 spell the taboo is spoken the the spell is broken and all of a sudden the truth is unleashed and
01:06:22.440 that's what paul's talking about in ephesians 5 when he says take no part in the unfruitful
01:06:26.980 works of darkness but instead expose them yeah it's the whole lid comes off of the thing and
01:06:32.860 everybody goes oh that thing i wasn't supposed to think that i have trained myself to like even
01:06:37.340 thinking it is a crime in my head privately yeah so it is true so it seems like uh going back to
01:06:44.120 michael knowles and what he was saying there's it seems like there would be a two-fold response
01:06:48.600 that's necessary one you have to ostracize dismantle prosecute all these leftist groups
01:06:56.880 yep who are espousing wicked wicked violence in the country absolutely you have and that has to
01:07:02.060 be that's a show of force yeah right you have to forcibly make life miserable or unlivable for
01:07:09.380 them, that they have no place in this society. That's one angle. And then we keep arguing along
01:07:15.980 the lines of truth and reason. Yes. And Noel's point was not that everything Charlie Kirk did,
01:07:22.520 no one should ever do anything like that again. He wouldn't say that, but you're right. It's a
01:07:26.680 twofold. You have to recognize that there's, in terms of defeating the left, you can't defeat
01:07:32.140 the left, the entrenched, hardened left in any way other than to destroy them. And that means
01:07:37.580 legally and politically you have to legally and politically destroy them meaning the fbi um the
01:07:42.320 the legal apparatuses of the of the united states of america needs to go in and investigate destroy
01:07:48.580 defund oppose prosecute as treasonous as evil as criminals antifa this is by the way what the left
01:07:57.260 has been doing to the right for years forever and and and here's why it's bad when they do it and
01:08:01.340 good when we do it. They are prosecuting good and doing evil to the good. And we're talking
01:08:08.000 about prosecuting evil. Okay. So the difference is that there's no moral analogy between the left
01:08:14.780 and the right. The left is utterly evil and demonic. So when you oppose the left through
01:08:19.700 those means, you're doing righteously. When you turn the sword of the state against the righteous,
01:08:25.020 you're acting wickedly. That's how simple it is. But then at the same time, you do all of that.
01:08:28.820 That's the thing we're not doing. We absolutely need to be galvanized by Charlie Kirk's murder,
01:08:33.560 his political assassination. We need to be galvanized on the right. And President Trump
01:08:38.880 needs to know this, Vice President Vance, they all need Marco Rubio. They all need to understand
01:08:45.540 this is that the right is behind them to go and do everything they can to absolutely make life
01:08:52.660 unlivable for especially the apostles of the left, their organizations, their rallying points,
01:08:58.820 their political apparatus. It needs to be dismantled, destroyed, defunded, criminal,
01:09:02.960 like it needs to go to hell. And at the same time, along the way, the way you win the hearts of the
01:09:08.780 people, the nation, because you also need to win the hearts of the people to have a will to do that
01:09:12.280 is to continue telling the truth about the left courageously and boldly. Continue telling the
01:09:16.500 truth about what is good and true and beautiful and what is ugly and wicked and civilization
01:09:20.040 destroying. And that's turning the lights on. That's exposing the deeds done in darkness for
01:09:25.700 what they are. And when you do that consistently enough, you're making the job of that hardened
01:09:31.720 left much, much harder to operate because they operate via media persuasion and institutional
01:09:39.120 enculturation of people. So you have to attack both the mechanism of enculturation and their
01:09:44.940 victory, which is political and it's organized. And you have to attack the lies themselves.
01:09:51.140 yeah i i want to ask you a question too i think this is where
01:09:55.680 one last thing this just struck me what that means and what nola is getting at
01:10:01.580 is that you are not going to persuade antifa to lay down their arms by the force of those
01:10:06.460 arguments yes that won't fix it yeah you have to put them in prison or hang them legally justly
01:10:13.420 after a just trial you have to do that right you're not going to persuade them that's what
01:10:19.180 was getting it yeah so i want to ask though one of one of the problems is people look at that
01:10:24.700 situation it's one thing to know what to do but then when you look at our government and marjorie
01:10:31.660 taylor green said this today again thomas massey has said it in the past even a year ago we were
01:10:37.820 talking about this groups like apac control the u.s government yeah they control um politicians
01:10:47.200 and the mechanisms that make politicians?
01:10:50.940 We know that, you know,
01:10:53.600 both foreign and domestic money is controlling elections.
01:10:57.080 It's funding these leftist organizations like Antifa.
01:11:00.880 We've known this for a long time.
01:11:02.620 The question is, do you think the government
01:11:04.460 is in any position to actually do something
01:11:07.480 if the meme is true that the American eagle
01:11:11.080 is being strangled by an Israeli snake?
01:11:13.640 If that's true.
01:11:14.780 And as you look at the circumstances, because that's one of the questions I have is, well, if it is true that people are being controlled by outside forces or forces that aren't the American people, what likelihood is there that change is going to happen, that those things are going to be followed through on?
01:11:32.420 There is a 0% likelihood that change will happen easily or without tumult and upheaval.
01:11:37.720 There's a 0% chance of that.
01:11:39.680 But history teaches us that even the strongest and most durable political entity or power is perishable.
01:11:49.420 They can die.
01:11:51.020 They can fail.
01:11:52.020 They can go away.
01:11:53.540 There have been many, you know, think of the Assyrian Empire.
01:11:58.240 Where is the Assyrian Empire today?
01:11:59.900 where where is where is rome where this is this is one of the things yeah i totally agree that i
01:12:07.180 was thinking about the other day um this is a pastoral word i guess but this is why family
01:12:13.600 worship is so important so we use the vanderbilt revised common lectionary you can pull it up on
01:12:19.260 your phone you get daily readings in the scriptures and this was this week and i was thinking through
01:12:24.640 this and i was like man this is really disheartening and it was just providential how
01:12:29.340 the passages were lined up. The first reading was Psalm 94, which is praying for vengeance
01:12:35.360 against the wicked. The next reading was Psalm 73. Why did the wicked prosper? And then he goes
01:12:41.960 into the sanctuary and sees their end, that it is an end of destruction and judgment.
01:12:47.460 And this is so crazy. There's judgment in Jeremiah 5. There was judgment, a reading
01:12:52.960 on judgment against God's people for apostasy. And then in Jonah, in the midst of all of that,
01:13:00.740 we're given Jonah going to the Ninevites and calling for repentance and they repent.
01:13:06.800 And they actually repent.
01:13:07.740 And they weep and they put sackcloth and ashes. It says not only on themselves and the ruler of
01:13:14.700 Nineveh does this, but also the animals.
01:13:16.760 Their livestock.
01:13:17.420 Their livestock. And so what I was thinking in that moment was God is saying, look,
01:13:22.120 pray for vengeance. And we should do this as churches and as a nation, we should pray for
01:13:27.620 vengeance. And Nineveh should stand as a reminder to us. You don't know if people would repent in
01:13:35.880 mass. You don't know because it belongs to the Lord. It belongs to the Lord. Our job is to call
01:13:41.600 people to repent. So this is like what I would be calling the nation to do in light of the death of
01:13:48.120 a martyr is that you look, we know Tertullian's right. The blood of the martyrs is the seat of
01:13:54.200 the church. We've seen unbelievable things happening in the country with people going
01:13:58.320 to church for the first time. You mentioned our church was full. I know a lot of other pastors
01:14:03.060 across the nation. That was the case as well. It was our second highest attended Sunday outside
01:14:07.440 of like conference Sundays when people are here from out of town. I would just plead with anyone
01:14:11.320 in leadership and the political system, any pastor to be calling your people to fast and to pray.
01:14:18.120 and to call upon the Lord to act. This is the thing throughout, it's a common theme throughout
01:14:23.260 scripture that the wicked think I'm never going to be caught. That's right. I'm going to get away
01:14:28.560 with this forever. And the Lord, the story that he writes, that's not the case. They don't,
01:14:34.220 they do not get away forever. Psalm 37, another great example. Look at the wicked. They seem to
01:14:39.840 be spread out like a great green laurel tree. And then all of a sudden the righteous man goes to
01:14:45.740 look for them and behold, they're no longer, they were cut down. They're, they're removed.
01:14:48.740 They're, they're gone. When you think about, uh, I was recently reading about Jehu and there's
01:14:54.060 this curse upon the house of Ahab, uh, Ahab because he kills Naboth to take his vineyard
01:14:58.760 among other things. Among other. Yeah. But there's this curse upon him and it doesn't
01:15:05.800 happen right away. This was the other passage, first Peter three, that was in the lectionary
01:15:09.400 reading was do not count the slowness of the Lord as slowness for one day is like a thousand years
01:15:16.100 to him. Right. So calling the saints to be patient about the justice of the Lord. Yeah. But then
01:15:21.460 Ahab's house. So a generation after Jehu comes, God anoints Jehu. And this is crazy. The Lord
01:15:30.740 calls him to slaughter all the offspring of Ahab. And I think how should it encourage the people of
01:15:37.600 God. All the evildoers, the Lord is going to judge. He's going to wipe them off the face of
01:15:43.840 the earth. But be patient about the vengeance of the Lord. Vengeance is the Lord's. We can do what
01:15:50.860 we can do to pursue justice. But throughout that, just going back to simple things like family
01:15:56.960 worship, we as a family were so encouraged. We were given instruction on how to pray for the
01:16:01.560 nation, simply by opening the Bible, putting the phone away. This was something Charlie often said,
01:16:09.220 and he had tweeted about. He said, in times of tumult, he's like, close down your social media,
01:16:15.500 open your Bible, pray the living God. And he will act. He will act for the sake of his people.
01:16:21.360 So that would be my charge and my call to all of our listeners. Be much in prayer.
01:16:25.940 yes be calling on the lord to take vengeance on the evildoer we don't even know who who all is
01:16:32.040 involved in that list but the lord knows every single he knows it all the way down to the bottom
01:16:36.500 he has every phone tapped he's in every room nothing goes nothing you think palantir and
01:16:42.980 nsa no yeah the lord knows the lord knows the lord knows every thought every intention of every heart
01:16:49.580 the wheels of his justice grind slow but they grind exceeding fine as the as the old aphorism
01:16:55.020 goes, and he will cause the meek to inherit the earth. This is what the living God has said he
01:17:01.420 will do. And so none of this means that we ought to be apathetic or not oppose evil or any of those
01:17:07.520 things. It just means that in our opposition to evil, we do so in faith. Yeah. And one of the
01:17:13.400 other things that I've been praying for you, you see this throughout the book of Acts, everywhere
01:17:17.480 the church is persecuted. Luke will tell us something like, and the spirit of God came upon
01:17:23.540 them with a greater boldness to speak the truth. And so I would encourage pastors and Christians
01:17:29.200 to be even more bold in speaking the truth in this time, be praying for a spirit of boldness.
01:17:34.460 But I also think too, like with Charlie, I was just reflecting on the death of Stephen.
01:17:41.180 I was reflecting on Christ. Look, the moment when they kill Christ, Satan and all his minions think
01:17:47.920 we won. We finally won. And it was the moment of their destruction. Yeah. It was the thing that
01:17:54.980 brought their destruction. Yep. And the Lord loves to do this sort of thing throughout scripture.
01:17:59.140 He does. He loves to turn the plots of the wicked back on their own heads and what they had meant
01:18:03.460 for evil, God uses for good. And so be praying that this would be one of those times and that
01:18:08.800 we would be those who participate in these times wisely and righteously, that we act in accord with
01:18:14.740 God's will and we're not fighting against his will in history that we're like live we're on
01:18:19.460 we're the goodies not you know not not the baddies at this time but in all of it we remember
01:18:24.080 that the Lord sits on this throne he's not dethroned by the wicked scheming of the left
01:18:30.360 he's dispossessing them day by day he's dispossessing them and he will all of the
01:18:38.140 kingdoms of the the world will become the kingdoms of God's beloved son they just will
01:18:43.700 Yeah. And I think one other thing is that doing the work of repentance in our local communities, like again, a common theme throughout scripture, but if you want to be the kind of people that God blesses, then repent, like work on that locally. We've had all this going on and I'm thinking like all of our pastoral care this week is like kind of unrelated, a lot of it. And it's just saying like every time, it's like whack-a-mole. Every time something comes up, you're like, okay, got to address that. Here's a new one. There's a new one.
01:19:12.820 She needs to repent. She needs to repent. Everybody needs to repent. 1.00
01:19:15.020 Keep disciplining in the body. Keep disciplining yourself.
01:19:17.340 One of the things I would even say just at a very, very personal level to people.
01:19:21.920 Look, I spent way too much time on X digging into this, being obsessive, you know.
01:19:29.880 You can picture Eric at two in the morning in his living room, like with a rifle in hand and like a zen in lip
01:19:39.120 and just scrolling through the absolute recesses of conspiracy Twitter and texting me a constant
01:19:47.300 thread of links. I want you to picture this. This is hypothetical, but you could picture it anyway.
01:19:54.920 But here was one of the things that I realized that's look, that's not doing anything.
01:20:01.300 I love what Andrew Torba said. Like, this is the time to discipline yourself. So I did. I took
01:20:06.040 inventory of my life. I was like, okay, this is a time to make sure you work out every day.
01:20:10.920 So I took my middle son and, you know, we're, we're, we're deadlifting and bench pressing and
01:20:15.440 doing some running, lifting sandbags. And you know what? I felt a little better.
01:20:20.520 And then, you know, we're going about our daily activities with joy,
01:20:24.520 doing family worship, reading the scriptures, even things, this is going to sound weird to people,
01:20:31.180 but one of the most encouraging things to me in times of tumult has been two resources one
01:20:36.940 the chronicles of narnia and then two the lord of the rings like other people have known evil times
01:20:44.440 and it's weird because like you know like reading through some of that stuff and then going
01:20:49.380 like i walk away with a renewed hope yeah that's right just agency um i think is so important
01:20:55.540 personal agency making sure you take care of your body get sunlight well it's it's so eat good food
01:21:02.060 it's anchoring in tumult when when the evil of the world just seems to be overwhelming and even
01:21:07.840 like we have people in the church in multiple people in the church uh ladies like weeping
01:21:13.720 and fearful for our safety and just in general of the tumult like this is just it's heavy and when
01:21:20.720 things are heavy. One of the things that anchors me is knowing in my bones that I am involved in
01:21:28.940 important work, doing important things that the Lord has set before us and that he's with us,
01:21:37.400 that he's going to bear fruit in these things in his time. We do them in season and out of season
01:21:42.120 in all of the things that he's put in front of us. They're good, they're meaningful.
01:21:45.680 and whether we have an impact of a little or a lot
01:21:49.840 on the outcome of things, it's not-
01:21:52.160 It's the Lord's.
01:21:52.520 It's the Lord's.
01:21:53.640 But we're walking in the good works
01:21:56.120 that he's set before us.
01:21:57.440 And that is anchoring because you realize I'm not God.
01:22:00.600 I can't do, I can't change the world.
01:22:04.020 I can't cast down and raise up,
01:22:07.280 but I can walk faithfully in what he's put in front of me
01:22:10.460 and hopefully please the Lord in that.
01:22:13.520 Yeah, it's such a good word.
01:22:14.400 One of the other things I would say, if you're a blue collar guy, this week, you know, I was talking to a couple, a group of congregants after service.
01:22:23.780 And I said to the group of them, I said, yeah, no, there's, there's been, you know, definitely having to cast anxieties on the Lord.
01:22:30.140 There's been a real fear.
01:22:32.080 This happened in our backyard.
01:22:34.260 And so you wonder about the groups surrounding us and you wonder about, you know, we've said, again, Charlie Kirk was a moderate.
01:22:41.800 The things that he said were moderate in comparison to what we've said.
01:22:46.680 And, you know, I would continue to say routinely.
01:22:50.040 And one of the guys who's like blue collar to the core, he looked at me with like the sternest look I've ever seen from the man.
01:22:58.220 And he said, Eric, don't you ever back down.
01:23:01.460 He said, you go harder.
01:23:03.180 The Lord has numbered your days.
01:23:05.760 And yeah, it was super moving.
01:23:07.360 And I was thinking, wow, you can encourage your pastors in this time, surround them with love, pray for them, encourage them in that way.
01:23:16.360 If your pastor is speaking hard truths and he's hated for it, which he probably will be, like you can really be an encouragement to him.
01:23:24.060 I remember the words of Charles Spurgeon, right, who said, how do you, how have you continued in ministry so effectively?
01:23:31.640 And Spurgeon said, my people pray for me.
01:23:33.660 so be praying for your pastors like in many ways there are a lot of good men across the country
01:23:39.520 who are the tip of the spear yeah and so showing support i think is is really pivotal um i do want
01:23:45.540 to close just with you know there's there's all that personal stuff there's wading through
01:23:51.300 controversy and conspiracy theories and fear but i think there also has to be a move to get active
01:23:58.860 yeah in local communities politically this has been something that i've seen just because this
01:24:05.320 is utah spencer cox all this stuff going on mormon church is not really doing anything
01:24:10.520 good people have to we have to somehow find a way to get involved why is taking a step of action
01:24:17.860 even if it's just encouraging people politically in in your church but saying we have to get
01:24:23.600 involved politically in our community we cannot stand on the sidelines and just hope and pray
01:24:28.120 No, and you can't just let social media function
01:24:30.120 like a release valve for pent-up right-wing energy.
01:24:32.540 Yes.
01:24:32.840 Where that's where we expend all our energy.
01:24:34.480 You need to actually politically organize.
01:24:36.460 It's one of the biggest points.
01:24:37.740 This is how one of the ways the left wins 0.53
01:24:39.500 is that they're masters of political organization.
01:24:42.120 It's one of the things that made Charlie Kirk
01:24:43.860 so uniquely powerful in the last few years.
01:24:46.980 He was not just a podcast host.
01:24:48.320 He was a master of on-the-ground political organization
01:24:51.000 and the ground game of the Trump election in 2024.
01:24:54.900 In many ways, odd that a guy who's not a politician
01:24:57.540 probably sounds like wanted to be at some point could have run for president but odd that a
01:25:04.460 media figure mostly in a debater on college campus a lot of people have said he was a kingmaker
01:25:12.200 right like he was one of the chief reasons trump won that election yeah his fundraising was
01:25:19.540 unbelievable yep so again grassroots engagement this is one of the reasons i think there's a lot
01:25:27.020 of people saying like, oh, this or that podcaster could be the future of the right. And I think
01:25:30.780 Charlie did something unique in that he actually mobilized people to do things.
01:25:37.020 And I think we have to emulate at least that aspect.
01:25:40.340 Yes. Yep. Absolutely.
01:25:43.220 So I would just encourage, there's lots of ways, be talking with the men in your church,
01:25:47.140 be trying to figure out strategic ways that you can get involved. It's a long process.
01:25:52.620 Yeah.
01:25:52.720 One of the things I fear is COVID happens and people, like there's this burst of energy
01:25:56.600 they're like oh we need to get involved and then it lasts for about a month you know what's funny
01:26:01.240 is because it's like it's actually related to the the fundamental functional humanity of the right
01:26:07.320 that this is true is that the left the core of the left are inhuman like they they are they're not
01:26:16.660 married people with children seeking the good of their generations going to church in they they
01:26:23.380 they have huge amounts of time and politics is their religion so they they're proselytizing like
01:26:30.580 their whole world and personality and energy is focused and poured into these things while
01:26:34.580 a lot of right wingers i don't know if you know this have seven children pastor church head of a
01:26:40.880 media company like all these different things and so from and many of us are like that in an analogous
01:26:45.780 way in your life like lots of you have lots of kids you have a church that you're pouring into
01:26:49.660 You have all these ways that you're very, in a very healthy way, engaged in not meddling with the affairs of everybody else, but just living your life in a healthy and fruitful way.
01:26:58.420 And the right actually has to realize that when you're faced with an enemy, sometimes you have to leave your fields and strap a sword to your side and go out and fight.
01:27:07.700 And it's very disruptive to your life.
01:27:10.600 It's very disruptive to your life.
01:27:12.520 Political activity is in many ways disruptive to ordinary healthy life in a community.
01:27:19.660 but we have to do it.
01:27:21.620 We have to.
01:27:22.260 We have to do it because there are orcs at the gate.
01:27:24.960 Yeah, and I think in a state like ours,
01:27:26.480 if you look and you see that the Mormons are,
01:27:28.960 especially the conservative ones,
01:27:30.140 are very politically inactive,
01:27:32.160 I just hope and pray that people see that as opportunity.
01:27:36.340 Yeah.
01:27:37.200 Because there is actually a lot of local opportunity.
01:27:39.720 Yeah.
01:27:40.160 So be praying about that, be thinking through it.

01:28:04.860 Shooting was Wednesday?
01:28:06.260 Yes.
01:28:07.140 Sunday morning, construction crews were tearing up the ground
01:28:09.820 where Charlie was shot and replacing it with concrete pavers.
01:28:12.480 some people have released information
01:28:16.740 allegedly that the NSA
01:28:18.940 tracked 11 Israeli
01:28:21.080 cell phones at the event
01:28:22.700 does it mean
01:28:25.060 anything I don't know
