00:02:24.760 Axios, for example, reported the other day, Exclusive, the Harris-Walls ticket is on pace

00:02:29.000 to do fewer interviews and press conferences than any major party's presidential pairing

00:02:33.020 in modern U.S. history.

00:02:35.160 According to the data, J.D. Vance alone has done seven times more interviews and press conferences

00:02:39.760 than Kamala and Tim Walls combined.

00:02:42.460 Now, this near-total media blackout makes it all the more important to pay attention

00:02:47.540 to the very few times that Kamala Harris is willing to speak off the cuff.

00:02:52.040 And we had one of those moments earlier this week when Kamala spoke with something called

00:02:56.200 the National Association of Black Journalists, or NABJ.

00:03:00.920 Still not clear why we have a segregated association of black journalists or why politicians think

00:03:05.160 it's important to speak to them, but apparently this is considered to be a worthwhile stop for

00:03:09.480 every candidate.

00:03:09.960 Donald Trump spoke to the NABJ a few weeks ago, and he was heckled throughout his appearance,

00:03:14.980 and the moderators were extremely hostile to him, but he did it anyway.

00:03:20.540 Kamala Harris, on the other hand, was not heckled by the Black Journalists Association

00:03:23.760 or asked any difficult questions.

00:03:27.000 Instead, for roughly an hour, she was allowed to lie repeatedly without being interrupted or

00:03:31.020 corrected a single time, as far as I can tell.

00:03:33.500 And one of those lies was especially egregious.

00:03:35.800 In response to a question about abortion, Kamala Harris suggested that the so-called Heartbeat

00:03:40.760 Bill in Georgia, which bans abortion after a heartbeat is detected, was to blame for the

00:03:45.660 recent death of a 28-year-old woman named Amber Thurman.

00:03:49.080 And by extension, Kamala Harris implicated Donald Trump, the Supreme Court, and of course the

00:03:53.620 entire pro-life movement.

00:04:08.240 Over 20 states have passed what I call Trump abortion bans, because I understand how we

00:04:18.000 intention they would undo the protections of Roe v. Wade.

00:04:20.540 They did as he intended, and in state after state, laws have been passed criminalizing

00:04:26.780 I don't know if anyone here has heard most recently the stories out of Georgia.

00:04:32.060 Tragic story about a young woman who died because it appears the people who should have given

00:04:40.560 her health care were afraid they'd be criminalized after the Dobbs decision came down.

00:04:47.440 So first, she portrays Donald Trump as nefarious because he handpicked three Supreme Court

00:04:53.140 justices.

00:04:53.720 I guess he was supposed to, what, just draw their names from a hat or something?

00:04:57.320 And then Kamala launches into a narrative that's been making its way throughout the mainstream

00:05:02.160 media in recent days.

00:05:03.180 It originated in an outlet called ProPublica, which is best known for posting a series of

00:05:07.080 recent hit pieces on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

00:05:10.740 And here's how one news station reported on the story.

00:05:14.060 Watch.

00:05:14.220 A Georgia woman has been identified as one of the first known deaths related to a lack

00:05:20.040 of abortion care access.

00:05:21.820 Yeah, that's according to her family and state documentation obtained by non-profit newsroom

00:05:27.420 ProPublica.

00:05:28.540 Non-profit newsroom ProPublica released a report on internal documents it obtained from the Georgia

00:05:33.880 committee tasked with reviewing pregnancy-related deaths.

00:05:37.180 The report indicated the committee, run by the State Department of Health, determined the

00:05:41.520 death of 28-year-old Amber Thurman was likely preventable if she'd had access to abortion

00:05:47.040 care in her home state of Georgia.

00:05:49.380 The report states Amber was going on eight weeks pregnant at the time, her family sharing

00:05:53.880 with 11 Alive that she drove to North Carolina to obtain FDA-approved medication to terminate

00:05:59.160 the pregnancy, saying by the time she arrived back to Georgia, she'd started bleeding heavily.

00:06:04.220 According to medical records cited by ProPublica, Amber was rushed to a hospital in metro Atlanta,

00:06:09.820 where doctors noted twice that a DNC procedure should be considered to remove the infection.

00:06:15.520 But the procedure, often used for abortions, wasn't done, not even when Amber became septic.

00:06:21.680 She was clearly septic and she was hemorrhaging.

00:06:24.640 She should have had a DNC right then and there.

00:06:27.380 Vice President Kamala Harris issuing a statement Tuesday, writing in part,

00:06:31.240 this is exactly what we feared when Roe was struck down and now women are dying.

00:06:36.560 Advocates of Georgia's abortion law say it has clear exceptions for medical emergencies

00:06:41.400 and includes expanded support for expectant mothers, from broadening Medicaid coverage

00:06:46.420 to expanding maternal health resources like in-home medical visits in rural and underserved

00:06:51.660 areas of the state.

00:06:52.920 You'd be hard-pressed to find a more absurd and self-contradictory news segment anywhere

00:06:58.020 on television.

00:06:59.180 The report begins by stating that Amber Thurman died because of a lack of abortion care access,

00:07:04.720 quote unquote, abortion care access, otherwise known as killing your baby.

00:07:08.680 According to this report, Thurman's death was preventable because she drove from Georgia

00:07:13.960 to North Carolina to get an abortion when she was about nine weeks pregnant with twins.

00:07:18.200 But because of a traffic jam, she missed her appointment, so she was given abortion pills.

00:07:21.660 Then she drove back to Georgia, where she began suffering serious complications from sepsis,

00:07:26.740 which is a potentially fatal response to bacterial infection.

00:07:29.080 And then, according to this report, doctors in Georgia didn't perform a so-called DNC procedure

00:07:34.460 in order to save the life of the mother, waited more than 20 hours before significant intervention,

00:07:39.260 supposedly because they were worried that they might be prosecuted under Georgia's heartbeat law.

00:07:43.720 This is all according to these reports.

00:07:48.240 And then, after all this reporting, they casually mention at the very end of the news report

00:07:52.300 that actually none of this has anything to do with Georgia's heartbeat law,

00:07:55.760 which has clear exceptions in emergencies where the life of the mother is at stake.

00:07:59.700 And that's true.

00:08:00.860 I mean, just that's a fact about what's in the law.

00:08:04.860 Whether you agree or disagree with the law,

00:08:06.900 here's what it says directly from the Georgia Department of Health, quote,

00:08:10.000 The law provides that no abortion shall be performed if the unborn child has a detectable human heartbeat

00:08:14.900 except A, in the event of a medical emergency or medically futile pregnancy,

00:08:18.800 or B, in cases involving rape or incest in which an official police report has been filed

00:08:23.860 and where the probable gestational age of the unborn child is 20 weeks or less.

00:08:27.980 The law does not prohibit the removal of a dead unborn child caused by a spontaneous abortion

00:08:32.740 or the removal of an ectopic pregnancy.

00:08:35.400 Now, anyone connecting this incident to the Georgia heartbeat law is lying,

00:08:40.660 and they're doing it in the most flagrant and reprehensible way imaginable.

00:08:44.420 They're using the death of a young woman and her two children in order to defame the pro-life movement.

00:08:50.880 The Atlantic, for example, wrote this, quote,

00:08:53.160 Some tragedies are impossible to prevent or even to predict.

00:08:56.620 The death of Amber Nicole Thurman was not.

00:08:58.740 She was perhaps the first woman killed by the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

00:09:02.180 Now, for her part, Kamala Harris said in a statement,

00:09:05.960 This young mother should be alive, raising her son and pursuing her dream of attending nursing school.

00:09:10.820 Now women are dying.

00:09:12.160 These are the consequences of Donald Trump's actions.

00:09:15.420 Now, this is a story that Kamala Harris pushes at every opportunity.

00:09:20.540 Yesterday she sat down with Oprah, for example,

00:09:23.100 and we'll have more about her exchange with Oprah later on in the show.

00:09:27.760 But I'm going to show you this part right now because they strongly imply, once again,

00:09:32.440 that Georgia's law somehow was involved in what happened here.

00:09:36.760 And then they play a montage that contradicts that narrative.

00:09:40.660 Amber's case came to light through the reporting of journalist Kavitha Serrana with ProPublica.

00:09:49.700 And so listen to her story.

00:09:51.220 Two years ago, 28-year-old Amber Nicole Thurman, a medical assistant and a single mother to a six-year-old boy,

00:10:00.440 found out she was pregnant.

00:10:02.600 Amber had just secured her own apartment and was thinking about going to nursing school.

00:10:08.060 She made the decision to terminate her pregnancy.

00:10:11.560 A strict abortion ban had recently taken place in her home state of Georgia,

00:10:15.560 which caused Amber to travel to North Carolina for the procedure.

00:10:19.100 Traffic made her miss the appointment, so the clinic gave her medication, what are known as abortion pills.

00:10:26.600 Once back home, Amber experienced profuse bleeding, vomiting, severe pain.

00:10:31.860 She eventually passed out.

00:10:33.540 Her boyfriend called for an ambulance.

00:10:36.100 At the Georgia hospital, Amber's condition deteriorated quickly.

00:10:40.220 In a rare occurrence, it was discovered her body had not expelled all the fetal tissue and an infection was spreading.

00:10:47.020 Official Georgia state medical expert analysis of her case says Amber should have received a life-saving D&C,

00:10:54.640 but doctors waited 20 hours before deciding to take her to surgery.

00:10:59.240 Amber's blood pressure had taken a dive or organs had started failing.

00:11:03.720 In the operating room, her heart stopped.

00:11:07.200 On the way to surgery, Amber's last words to her mother were,

00:11:11.340 promise me you'll take care of my son.

00:11:14.260 Now, as Eric Erickson has pointed out, this is not just a hoax.

00:11:17.960 It's also a clear example of projection.

00:11:20.580 But the pro-life movement did not kill this woman.

00:11:22.700 The abortion pill killed her.

00:11:25.280 These drugs are not, in fact, as safe as Tylenol, as Planned Parenthood claims.

00:11:29.860 Researchers have long understood that sepsis is a rare but potentially fatal adverse effect,

00:11:35.960 those are in quotes, of abortion drugs.

00:11:38.420 What can happen is that in some cases, after these drugs kill the child,

00:11:43.560 there's dead tissue that remains from the, from, because you've killed the child.

00:11:49.780 And that tissue can cause a serious infection if it's not expelled from the body.

00:11:53.680 So the pill can cause the intended death of the child and the unintended death of the mother.

00:11:59.600 Of course, no one at the National Association of Black Journalists pointed this out to Kamala Harris

00:12:05.640 when she spoke with them.

00:12:07.300 Instead, they let her continue to ramble for another minute or so.

00:12:11.180 And then they pivoted to a question about why it's important for her to be joyful.

00:12:15.860 That's how shameless and embarrassing this whole event was.

00:13:47.500 So Kamala lies about the death of a young woman and her children in Georgia.

00:13:52.600 And then she says that you're immoral if you think that the government

00:13:55.500 should tell a woman what to do about her own body and her life,

00:13:58.700 even though it's not her body we're talking about.

00:14:03.000 She also suggests that the Georgia law bans abortion in cases of rape and incest,

00:14:07.740 which is not true.

00:14:09.120 And instead of any kind of follow-up, she gets asked about her joy.

00:14:20.320 No one thought to point out that, in fact, the pro-life movement

00:14:22.640 is concerned about the best interests and the body of the child,

00:14:32.360 Kamala didn't explain why mothers should be able to kill their children

00:14:35.180 if they determine that it's in their best interests

00:14:37.100 or explain why the interests of the child is not weighed at all as a factor

00:14:44.300 or explain how it could be in the interests of the child to be killed.

00:14:50.700 Instead, she simply declared that if you're a Christian or a Muslim

00:14:54.840 then killing children isn't really incompatible with your beliefs

00:15:04.380 There's another Georgia woman mentioned in this report from ProPublica

00:15:07.160 named Candy Miller.

00:15:08.540 She was a 41-year-old mother of three

00:15:10.180 who suffered from diabetes, lupus, and hypertension.

00:15:13.140 Apparently, her health was so fragile

00:15:15.340 that doctors warned that another pregnancy could potentially be fatal.

00:15:21.200 According to ProPublica, when she became pregnant anyway in 2022,

00:15:24.600 quote,

00:15:24.800 she avoided doctors and navigated an abortion on her own.

00:15:28.160 The article continues,

00:15:29.640 Miller ordered abortion pills online,

00:15:31.240 but she did not expel all the fetal tissue

00:15:32.860 and would need a DNC procedure to clear it from her uterus

00:15:36.100 and stave off sepsis, a grave and painful infection.

00:15:38.660 Her teenage son watched her suffer for days

00:15:42.260 after she took the pills, bedridden and moaning.

00:15:45.120 In the early hours of November 12, 2022,

00:15:47.580 her husband found her unresponsive in bed,

00:15:49.800 her three-year-old daughter at her side.

00:15:51.280 An autopsy later found, quote,

00:15:53.800 a lethal combination of painkillers,

00:15:55.740 including the dangerous opioid fentanyl.

00:15:58.840 This situation, again, is being blamed on the pro-life movement

00:16:01.880 and the overturning of Roe.

00:16:03.780 ProPublica, citing a report from a state committee of experts,

00:16:07.600 concluded that this was also a preventable death

00:16:10.480 because they determined that Candy Miller was responding

00:16:12.840 to the Georgia legislation when she ordered the abortion pills online.

00:16:16.560 But again, that doesn't make the Georgia legislation

00:16:19.460 responsible for what happened.

00:16:22.160 If there's a misunderstanding of the law,

00:16:24.180 that's not the law's fault.

00:16:26.440 If this woman had gone to the hospital

00:16:27.720 instead of taking a lethal combination of painkillers,

00:16:30.720 then doctors could have saved her life.

00:16:34.120 Under Georgia law,

00:16:35.020 there's nothing that would have prevented them from doing that.

00:16:38.500 In reality, abortion pills themselves

00:16:41.200 are what led to the deaths

00:16:43.500 of these women and their children in Georgia.

00:16:50.780 These mothers' decisions to take the abortion pill is,
