The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 494 - The Rioters Aren't ＂Protesters.＂ They're Violent, Nihilistic, Scumbags.

00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Walsh Show, the country is in flames and many in the media and on the left have

00:00:04.900 insisted that we must sympathize with the people who are setting the fires. But the attempt to

00:00:11.220 justify and romanticize looting and arson is, of course, morally outrageous and deranged and

00:00:18.520 irrational, insane. Many other words I could use to describe it, and I will use many of those words

00:00:24.040 today because I want to speak some plain truths about this issue today. There are some things

00:00:28.360 that need to be said, and I'm going to say them. Also, five headlines including celebrities helping

00:00:32.460 to fund and support the destruction of poor minority neighborhoods. This is the cause that 1.00

00:00:38.580 celebrities are rallying behind right now. And finally, I thought that it was dangerous to protest

00:00:44.900 during a pandemic. Isn't that what we were told for months? I mean, didn't the media spend months

00:00:49.480 telling us that if you go out and protest during a pandemic, you're going to kill people, you're 0.91

00:00:52.520 going to kill grandma? That's what we were told. What happened to all of that? We're going to talk 0.98

00:00:55.780 about all of that today on the show. I do, as I said, have a lot to say, as you can imagine.

00:01:03.700 I went away for less than a week. I went away for, you know, what, like four days on vacation.

00:01:08.740 The country erupted in the meantime. So I leave you people alone for a few days, and this is what

00:01:14.460 you do without my guidance. So I'm going to try to say most of what I think needs to be said today,

00:01:21.260 though, of course, I'm sure I can't fit it all into one show. And we'll start here. Amid the media-fueled

00:01:28.920 Democrat-endorsed chaos that is currently gripping our cities, a lot of effort has been made to justify

00:01:36.160 and romanticize the violent hordes that are wreaking destruction all over the place. But despite these

00:01:47.300 extremely pathetic rationalizations, the rioters are not aggrieved citizens deeply hurting and in pain 0.71

00:01:56.300 and engaging in serial arson and random assaults as some sort of coping mechanism for the trauma

00:02:02.760 they've suffered or as some sort of desperate plea for peace and justice. No, quite on the contrary,

00:02:09.560 they are criminals and sociopaths. And they're setting stuff on fire because they think it's fun. 1.00

00:02:17.660 And they're stealing shoes and booze and electronics for the very simple reason that they want shoes and

00:02:24.000 booze and electronics, and it's free if they go steal it, and they have no moral compunction about doing

00:02:28.420 so. That's it. Okay? How do I know this? Well, for one thing, I've seen the footage, as we all have.

00:02:35.960 You know, go watch the footage of these people doing these things. They're smiling and laughing

00:02:42.220 with glee as they commit these atrocities. Okay? These are not the faces of oppressed people.

00:02:47.380 These are the faces of bullies who delight in the suffering of strangers. Now, here's just as an

00:02:53.360 example, I'll play this for you. Here's someone walking out of a looted cheesecake factory with a

00:02:59.820 cheesecake they stole. Now, we can't see the expression on their face there because they're wearing a mask.

00:03:04.900 But what do you think? Do you think that person is weeping under the mask? You think they're weeping

00:03:11.420 as they walk out with the cheesecake? Were they looting that cheesecake out of grief? No. Listen, the point

00:03:19.620 isn't the pain that these crooks are supposedly in. It's the pain that they enjoy inflicting on others.

00:03:26.600 What we're watching are a bunch of people who enjoy causing suffering. And so that's what they're doing.

00:03:32.880 Speaking of which, I want to play just a few other clips of different examples around the country

00:03:38.600 yesterday. And I could spend five hours playing clips like this, as you well know, because there's

00:03:46.180 a lot more where this came from. But you need to see. I think if you haven't seen some of this stuff,

00:03:51.220 you need to see it. So I'm going to play some of it. It's not easy to watch, but we need to see it.

00:03:55.080 So first, here's a truck driver being pulled out of his truck and beaten by a mob of many dozens

00:04:03.820 of people. Watch.

00:04:33.820 Now, don't worry. Don't worry. An arrest has been made because of that incident. Don't worry

00:04:45.600 about that. They've made arrests. The police are on the case. They've arrested the driver.

00:04:50.360 The driver was arrested. The guy that was pulled out of his truck and beaten,

00:04:52.820 he was arrested. And he was arrested because he drove into a crowd. The claim from the media and

00:04:59.360 the left and the police is that he was trying to, I guess, kill protesters by driving into a crowd.

00:05:05.720 But what they failed to mention is that the protesters were on the interstate.

00:05:10.680 And this guy is just trying to get through. If he was trying to kill protesters, then why did he

00:05:16.540 stop his truck putting his own life at risk rather than plowing through them? He stopped his truck.

00:05:23.680 I mean, if the point was to plow through them, then why didn't he plow through them?

00:05:29.360 Now, look at the aerial footage of the whole incident. And I'll just watch this for a second.

00:05:35.120 Okay. So, yes, he's coming through there. Why is he coming through? Well, because it's a highway.

00:05:39.980 All right. And he's in a truck. But why does he stop? If the claim is that he deserved to be pulled

00:05:47.280 out of his truck and beaten because he was trying to kill people, why did he stop? If that's what he

00:05:52.040 was trying to do, he would have plowed right. He didn't. He stopped because he didn't want to kill

00:05:56.280 anybody. He didn't want to hurt anybody. That's the only logical conclusion here.

00:06:01.860 And for his trouble, he was pulled out and beaten.

00:06:06.480 So the claim that we're hearing is that protesters, quote unquote protesters, have the right to shut

00:06:12.060 down whatever highway they want to. And if you have the audacity to drive through it, you know,

00:06:18.760 to treat it like a highway, they have every right to beat you unconscious. That's the claim that we're

00:06:24.400 being, not just by the media. That's basically what the police are telling us, apparently.

00:06:28.980 Now, we've got a lot more to play, some other clips as well. But before we do that,

00:06:33.620 I want to tell you about LifeLock. You know, the LifeLock is all about security,

00:06:38.500 a different kind of security. But security is what we need right now. And the thing about,

00:06:43.140 you know, being on the Internet is there are all kinds of Internet scams. I think we've all

00:06:46.180 come close, at least, to being duped a time or two by Internet scams because they're getting very

00:06:51.460 clever with how they go about this. For example, a hacker group called Shiny Hunters claims to have

00:06:57.680 breached 10 companies and is now selling their user databases on a dark web marketplace for

00:07:03.960 illegal products. The companies range from an online dating app to a food delivery service to

00:07:08.960 online stores and newspapers. The listed database holds 73 million user records, which are being sold

00:07:14.420 for around $18,000. So this is the kind of stuff that that's out there. And if you don't have

00:07:22.180 LifeLock, it'd be very difficult for you to protect yourself against it. Every day, we put our

00:07:26.140 information at risk on the Internet and cyber criminals around the world keep finding new ways

00:07:30.020 to steal identities. LifeLock is a leader in identity theft protection. And that's why you need

00:07:34.740 them, because they've been doing this for a long time. They know how to do it. They could do it a lot

00:07:38.360 better than, you know, I can just on my own. If they detect your information has potentially been

00:07:42.460 compromised, they will send you an alert. They detect a wide range of identity threat identity

00:07:47.880 threats out there. And there are a wide range of them. No one can prevent all identity theft or

00:07:52.180 monitor all transactions at all businesses. But LifeLock can see threats that you might miss on

00:07:57.400 your own. So join now and save up to 25% off your first year. Go to LifeLock.com slash Walsh.

00:08:02.420 That's LifeLock.com slash Walsh to save 25% off. Okay, so we saw the truck driver. Now let's here's

00:08:10.200 this is in Santa Monica. Speaking of trucks being attacked, this is an Amazon truck being looted

00:08:16.600 in Santa Monica. So you see they're just carrying the packages off there. Again, grieving. This is

00:08:23.860 all part of the grieving process, folks. They're in mourning. Who among us? Who among us hasn't

00:08:30.480 hasn't gone through? Who among us hasn't in an act of grief as a coping mechanism stopped an Amazon

00:08:40.340 truck and carried a package off? Right? Haven't we all done that? Here's a man being beaten by a mob

00:08:47.960 after he steps in to protect a woman who was pushed off a bike. I'm going to pause for a second and let

00:08:52.660 you watch this. Now, if you're ready for the worst one of all, and it does get worse, here's a mob

00:09:22.320 vandalizing a store. The female store owner comes out, confronts them, very bold on her part, 1.00

00:09:31.180 and they proceed to assault her with a two-by-four. 0.93

00:09:52.320 Hey! Hey! 0.97

00:10:02.320 Hey! Hey! 0.97

00:10:15.680 Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!蹲WA!

00:10:36.320 Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Thank you,клад-us!

00:10:38.680 &.

00:10:39.920 Hey! Hey! Hey! Bam! Hey! 0.74

00:10:41.220 Okay, so again, I ask the question, what do you think you're seeing here? People who are in pain,

00:10:46.120 people who are hurting, people who want justice for George Floyd? 0.80

00:10:51.540 Please, shut up with that. Just shut up. And you know what? Even if they are in pain, 0.99

00:10:59.060 I don't care. I don't care how they feel. I don't care what they've experienced.

00:11:04.640 I don't care. I don't care. I don't care about any oppression they have in their minds or in

00:11:11.400 reality suffered. I don't care. And I'll tell you why. The moment you set a building on fire,

00:11:17.460 the moment you assault a woman with a two by four, okay? The moment you victimize the innocent,

00:11:27.140 your feelings don't matter. Nothing matters. You are a victimizer, not a victim.

00:11:35.200 If you want your feelings and your experiences to matter to the average citizen, then you don't do

00:11:44.800 that. And you don't set entire cities on fire. Pretty simple. When you start doing that,

00:11:53.620 you are the bad guy now. You are part of the problem.

00:12:00.260 And I'm not going to sit down and say, why did you set that building on fire? Please talk to me.

00:12:05.220 Share your feelings. I want to hear. Why did you do that? I just, no, I'm not judging. I'm not

00:12:10.820 judging. Just share all your inner experiences and maybe we, no. You're a scumbag. You're a villain.

00:12:18.540 You're a bully. You're a terrorist. Now, we have to understand something about basic human 1.00

00:12:26.240 psychology, okay? A human doesn't think to himself, well, the police are racist. Therefore,

00:12:33.300 I must run into this burned out target and steal a pile of jeans. That's not a calculation that

00:12:39.160 anybody makes. No, a human would think to himself, a bad human would think to himself,

00:12:43.380 I have an opportunity to run into this burned out target and steal a pile of jeans because other

00:12:47.820 people are doing it. And so, I'm going to do that. I have the opportunity, so I'm going to do it.

00:12:53.600 Now, the latter is a coherent calculation, unlike the former, which is just a non sequitur.

00:13:00.420 But it's the calculation of a criminal, not a victim. Now, you might say, isn't it a simplification

00:13:07.980 on the other extreme? There's a simplification on the one extreme of saying that all these rioters

00:13:15.220 and vandals and looters are a bunch of aggrieved sufferers and mourners, right? That's an absurd

00:13:24.240 simplification. But am I not engaging in my own simplification by writing them all off as a bunch

00:13:30.140 of nihilistic hoodlums? Now, I don't think so. I don't think I am. Because arbitrary destruction 0.74

00:13:36.380 is the very hallmark of nihilistic hoodlumism. It's exactly what you would expect to see.

00:13:45.300 Now, and I use words like arbitrary and random. These are the words that I'm using. But of course,

00:13:51.760 we realize that that description only applies to the behavior of the grinning masses of people who

00:13:56.940 can't believe their luck, that their local government has decided to step aside and let

00:14:00.700 them steal and burn stuff at will. That, you know, the government in Minneapolis would literally

00:14:06.460 retreat and let them burn a police station to the ground. But so there's that. And we also

00:14:13.560 recognize that at the center of this swarm are domestic terrorist groups like Antifa and their

00:14:19.300 wealthy sponsors who are acting in a way that is anything but arbitrary. Okay, they have specific

00:14:23.900 political and ideological ends that they hope to achieve. And they are using the so-called protesters

00:14:28.380 and their penchant for arson as a means to that end. So that's what we're dealing with here.

00:14:33.420 We're dealing with a core of domestic terrorists surrounded by and exploiting thieves, arsonists,

00:14:39.240 and thugs of various other types. That's the way it all breaks down.

00:14:46.680 I have more to say about this in just a second. But now, our good friends, of course, at Rock

00:14:52.040 Auto, longtime supporters of this show who we really appreciate, along with all of our sponsors,

00:14:56.020 by the way, who, you know, during this very difficult time over the last several months,

00:15:01.460 you know, we really appreciate all of our sponsors who have supported this show and everyone at the

00:15:05.600 Daily Wire. And we also appreciate you guys for supporting the show and for listening to us talk

00:15:10.620 about our sponsors and their great products. And, you know, if you hear us talk about something and

00:15:15.960 it's something you think you need, then really consider supporting these sponsors. We would appreciate

00:15:20.780 that. Now, you know, if you need auto parts, if you need car parts, I think the most reasonable

00:15:28.820 thing to do, the easiest and most convenient thing to do is to look online, you know, rather than trying

00:15:33.480 to go into a chain store and deal with all that. RockAuto.com is so much easier than walking into a

00:15:37.220 store and having to answer all the questions and all of that stuff. And also knowing that they're

00:15:42.600 probably not going to have what you're looking for. They're going to have to look it up online

00:15:44.740 themselves and just order it. You could have done that yourself. RockAuto.com always offers the lowest

00:15:49.000 price as possible. Rather than changing their prices based on what the market will bear, they're

00:15:53.060 not going to try to just bilk you for all your worth. They're going to just offer a low, the lowest

00:15:57.800 price they can, a fair price. And you know that you can be confident of that when you go to

00:16:01.780 RockAuto.com. It's a family business. You know, they've been serving customers for over 20 years.

00:16:06.960 RockAuto.com is the place to go for auto and body parts from hundreds of manufacturers.

00:16:12.780 Best of all, prices at RockAuto.com are always reliably low. That's what it comes down to. It's

00:16:16.860 the convenience and it's low prices. So go to RockAuto.com right now. See all the parts available

00:16:21.720 for your car, truck, right? Walsh in there. How did you hear about us box so that they know that

00:16:26.540 we sent you. Okay. Now we talk about all this and, uh, I'm pretty harsh in the way that I talk about

00:16:38.820 these protesters. It's true that not every protester quote unquote, um, is burning buildings

00:16:48.420 and looting stores. In fact, some of the protesters may actually be doing something that sort of

00:16:54.380 approximates actual protesting, believe it or not, you know, but if it, the thing is that that's such

00:17:02.240 a shock to see at this point that when you go online, you see people sharing videos of, uh, of,

00:17:07.580 well, look at these protesters, isn't this inspiring? Here are some protesters who aren't

00:17:11.900 setting things on fire who, in fact, here are some protesters trying to stop other protesters

00:17:16.340 from setting stuff on fire. Yeah. I mean, good for them. I appreciate that, but, but that's,

00:17:22.420 that's, that's what we would expect people to do. That's I, I don't give you a lot of credit for

00:17:26.400 that. The fact that it's, um, that it's notable when we find protesters not setting stuff on fire,

00:17:33.540 that's a problem. Um, now if you, if you, here's the thing, if you join the protest,

00:17:46.040 you are knowingly joining a mob that includes a significant portion of rioters and looters and

00:17:53.580 terrorists. You are literally providing cover for these elements and metaphorically, maybe also

00:17:59.340 literally clasping your hands with them in solidarity. You deserve to be lumped in with

00:18:03.340 them because you have lumped yourself in with them. So that's why I'm not interested in this,

00:18:09.820 you know, separating, well, it was a good protesters from the bad ones. No, I think they deserve to all

00:18:14.840 be lumped in together, to be honest with you. I want you to consider this. Okay. With the people

00:18:21.520 who are currently arguing that protesters and looters are two separate groups and that the former

00:18:26.260 shouldn't be lumped in with the latter, would they still be making that argument if a bunch of

00:18:29.980 abortion clinics were burned to the ground during a pro-life demonstration? I mean, imagine a pro-life

00:18:35.080 demonstration. Now this, this would never happen. Okay. But, uh, it just doesn't happen to pro-life

00:18:39.400 demonstrate. I've been to many, there, there had been many pro-life demonstrations, there are pro-life

00:18:43.740 demonstrations every week in this country somewhere, every day, practically. Uh, the, the March for

00:18:49.240 Life has been going on for over 40 years, hundreds of thousands coming to DC for that. You never see

00:18:54.840 anything like this ever, but just imagine if there was a pro-life demonstration and a sizable portion

00:19:03.080 of that crowd was setting abortion clinics on fire and assaulting, you know, Planned Parenthood workers

00:19:09.240 and that sort of thing. Do you think any of the people saying, well, don't lump them in together.

00:19:13.980 You think they'd be saying that in that case, or maybe this is a better example. What if there

00:19:20.660 was a resurgence of the Tea Party? But imagine this, a resurgence of the Tea Party, but at every

00:19:26.580 Tea Party rally, large groups of avowed white supremacists showed up and had a funny habit of,

00:19:31.900 you know, assaulting bystanders, ransacking stores, setting police stations on fire.

00:19:37.660 Imagine if this happened, the Tea Party rallies across the country and at every single one,

00:19:45.040 without fail, you've got rioting and looting. Is there any doubt that the entire Tea Party

00:19:52.220 movement and everyone who attended one of its demonstrations would be cast in the same light

00:19:56.400 as the Nazi looters? In fact, that happened with the original Tea Party. Well, not the original, 0.79

00:20:02.240 but the, you know, the 2008 version that happened with that Tea Party, even though there weren't any

00:20:07.360 Nazi looters, they were still accused of doing it. Now imagine if there actually were Nazi looters,

00:20:12.400 what would happen then? What would people be saying about them? What would the media be saying about

00:20:17.060 them? And the thing is, as somebody who supported the Tea Party the first time around, I would also

00:20:23.260 be casting them in that light. If I looked at this resurgent Tea Party and I saw that every single time

00:20:29.520 you have this sizable portion of actual Nazis who are burning stuff, I would look at that and I would

00:20:38.500 say, you know what, there's something really wrong here. Not just with those people, but with the

00:20:44.120 whole movement. And I don't want to be affiliated with it. I'm not going to show up to one of these

00:20:48.000 things. Because it just wouldn't be credible to claim that the Nazi looting, which happens every

00:20:54.540 time, is some sort of coincidental aberration. Now perhaps I'm wrong. You know, maybe the good ones

00:21:03.780 are entirely distinct from the bad ones and the former are benevolent in their motives and methods

00:21:08.780 and I unfairly malign them by characterizing the whole movement or whatever it is this way.

00:21:13.840 Maybe so. That's a risk I'm willing to take. Because we are much better off condemning this

00:21:21.380 mob too strongly than not strongly enough. I'm going to err on that side. I'm going to err on the side of

00:21:28.520 being too strong in my condemnation. Most people, even the critics of these so-called protests,

00:21:35.160 have erred on the side of kindness to the mob and understanding and tolerance, which is why most

00:21:41.280 criticisms of all of this are couched in a series of disclaimers and qualifications about the profound

00:21:46.980 legitimacy of their grievances and the great importance of the conversation they're allegedly

00:21:51.520 trying to have with us. So you hear a lot of, you know, now the people who set AutoZone on fire for no

00:21:57.580 apparent reason, they're right to be upset. And their feelings are so important to me, so important.

00:22:02.080 And I very much share their concerns. And I'm sure that they're all wonderful people. And I just,

00:22:06.460 they're very, very good. And by the way, can I just say, I find them strikingly good looking.

00:22:10.660 But with that said, by the time you get to the point, you've already lost the point.

00:22:16.740 Just cut to the chase. Cut that crap out. You don't even believe it anyway. So shut up with that. 1.00

00:22:28.320 Just get to the point of condemning the destruction of our cities that's happening right now. Get to 0.69

00:22:33.660 that point. We don't need the rest of it. We don't need the rest of it. I'm sure some of them are so

00:22:37.060 good. And we don't need that part of it. Because our cities continue to burn while we play footsie

00:22:45.360 with the people who are holding the matches. I think what we need now is to speak plainly and

00:22:52.100 to respond boldly to what we're seeing. All right. Let's move on to our five headlines. Although it's

00:23:00.600 all kind of one headline jumbled together, but we'll sort through this. Let's start by zeroing

00:23:06.420 in number one on what happened in our nation's capital last night. The Daily Wire has the

00:23:10.560 report. It says dozens of Secret Service agents were reportedly injured by violent rioters near

00:23:15.000 the White House as the rioters threw objects and burned American flags late on Sunday evening,

00:23:18.960 which occurred at the Lincoln Memorial after the Lincoln Memorial was vandalized hours earlier.

00:23:25.680 A Fox News editor, Greg Ray reported more than 50 Secret Service agents were injured,

00:23:30.000 fires set by rioters blazed near the White House, and authorities were searching for car bombs late

00:23:34.340 Sunday as protests over the death of George Floyd continued to roil the Capitol just two days after

00:23:38.700 President Trump had to be taken to a bunker for his safety. And here's a lit video, by the way,

00:23:45.400 of the flag being ripped down and burned. Take a look at this.

00:23:47.600 Okay, so they're burning churches, the flags are attacking law enforcement in DC, right outside the

00:24:13.340 White House. And still, we have not seen mass arrests. Still, somehow, we haven't seen dozens

00:24:20.100 of people handcuffed and carted away in buses. Still, we have not seen that. This is the dissolution

00:24:26.560 of our society unfolding before our eyes. Okay, we are watching it in real time. This is not the

00:24:30.600 beginning of it. It didn't start this past week. I think, I fear, this is the conclusion, the culmination,

00:24:37.120 the final straw, the final break, is what we're watching happening right now. Number two, over the

00:24:43.160 weekend, Justin Timberlake joined the group of celebrities who have offered to support the riots

00:24:48.220 by bailing out rioters. He said, please join me in supporting the Minneapolis protesters by donating to

00:24:54.080 the MN Freedom Fund, the Minnesota Freedom Fund. The Freedom Fund is combating the harms of incarceration

00:25:00.060 by paying bail for low-income individuals who cannot otherwise afford it. So if they are rioting and

00:25:07.740 destroying stuff, Justin Timberlake is going to make sure he gets them out of jail, puts them back on

00:25:12.340 the street so they can get back to it. Justin Timberlake is going to make sure of that. Isn't

00:25:16.240 this so kind of our celebrities? They sit safely in their mansions, protected by gates and fences and

00:25:21.560 security systems and armed guards. And they generously offer to support and fund the people who are

00:25:27.240 burning down poor neighborhoods. Very, very, what absolute philanthropists these people are.

00:25:32.340 They are donating to the cause of destroying poor minority communities. That's what they're doing. 1.00

00:25:37.040 In fact, when you see celebrities offering to bail out rioters, remember that they are on the,

00:25:41.540 they are on the side of the people who reduced this woman to tears and despair. And for good reason, 1.00

00:25:48.280 watch. They went straight to Office Max, the dollar store at every store over here that I go to.

00:25:57.240 I have nowhere to go now. I have no way to get there because the buses aren't running.

00:26:04.660 These people did this for no reason. It's not going to bring George back here. George is in a

00:26:13.060 better place than we are. And last night, I'm going to be honest, I wish I was where George was,

00:26:20.040 because this is ridiculous. These people are tearing up our livelihoods. 0.55

00:26:24.480 So if you side with the rioters, you side against her. You're on the opposite side of her.

00:26:29.400 You're with the people who did this to her. Number three, and here's a tweet from Sister

00:26:34.740 Bethany in Chicago. Their bookstore, the nuns bookstore was broken into, looted. The looters stole

00:26:41.500 their books. So they're stealing books from nuns is what they're doing. This is just cartoonish evil

00:26:48.080 at this point. They're like, if you were to write a fiction story where the antagonists are rioters and

00:26:57.100 looters, that's what these people would be. That's how absurdly over-the-top villainous they are.

00:27:05.540 Four, on the theme here of highlighting the true victims, here's a report out of Rochester featuring

00:27:12.220 a minority business owner whose business was destroyed by looters. Looters who were supposedly

00:27:17.680 concerned about racism against minorities. But this is what they did to him. Watch.

00:27:22.040 Everything broke this window. Take all the hair. We just got the hair. They said $1,500.

00:27:25.920 Abdul Saleh has never seen anything like it in his 20 years in business.

00:27:30.820 Everything. Wow.

00:27:32.140 Seems almost empty. And he took all the jacket from the wall.

00:27:35.560 Stuff that wasn't theirs that looters stole early Saturday evening.

00:27:39.660 I see a lot of car hair and somebody broke the door and everybody come through inside.

00:27:42.780 As Saleh was cleaning his place across the street, this is what it looked like outside Hudson Avenue

00:27:47.580 Walmart. It's sad and it's disappointing. These two from Irondequoit had hoped to shop here.

00:27:53.360 There was a heavy police presence after reports of looting. Both ladies lamented the police killing

00:27:58.800 of a man in Minneapolis and the unrest that's followed. I feel like we're trying to get justice

00:28:05.440 for something, but it's not helping us because all it's going to do is make them target us more.

00:28:12.600 With George Floyd, you know, but our officers are supposed to serve to protect us and keep us safe.

00:28:18.920 And yet we're getting the complete opposite. We're feeling unsafe and unprotected.

00:28:25.780 Back across the street, what hurts Saleh the most is he knows many of the looters.

00:28:30.940 And I got no problem with nobody and it's crazy. I'm sad.

00:28:35.000 He'll clean up so he can open up again.

00:28:38.300 I just want to make lemon and I want to support my kids as well. Do the right thing as well.

00:28:41.860 In Irondequoit.

00:28:42.640 Yeah, that's crazy, you know.

00:28:43.740 Seth Voorhees, Spectrum News.

00:28:46.240 Number five, I think maybe we could all use a pick-me-up after all this.

00:28:50.480 A lot of very gloomy, dreary stuff, inevitably.

00:28:53.880 But something a little bit more cheerful, something to brighten our spirits and give us hope for tomorrow

00:28:58.940 because I still believe in that. At heart, I'm still an optimist.

00:29:02.060 And so on that note, something positive, something, you know, kind of fun for the whole family.

00:29:08.200 Here's a rioter trying to set a fire and instead setting himself on fire. Watch.

00:29:12.040 So there you go. There is a God. After all, that's just, I mean, what can you say? That's, that's,

00:29:42.040 hard to generate much sympathy, I suppose. But the media would, can. I mean, the media finds a way.

00:29:49.500 Many of the people in the media, they find a way to sympathize with and feel sorry for somebody like that.

00:29:58.060 Now let's move on to our daily cancellation. In fact, before we do that, though,

00:30:00.920 I want to tell you about our Leftist Tears Tumblr. I don't know if we've, if you've ever heard us

00:30:06.320 mention these things before. You probably haven't. We don't talk about it much.

00:30:10.260 But these things just, I mean, what can I say about them? They are

00:30:14.760 my whole purpose for living at this point. It's just for my, my Tears, my Leftist Tears.

00:30:24.140 I wake up in the morning and I think there's no point to life, but at least I can drink out of this Tumblr.

00:30:30.860 And that's what keeps me going every single day. Now, normally, as you know,

00:30:35.040 I generally am not a fan of joy or happiness, but this brings me joy. And this is what will bring you joy.

00:30:42.100 The double Tumblr deal is back, but it's only available for our most exclusive membership tier,

00:30:47.100 All Access. The All Access membership tier is our premier level of membership.

00:30:50.300 All Access members get to participate in All Access Live, our brand new interactive programming feature.

00:31:02.180 And we just hang out and we have a conversation. It's a lot of fun.

00:31:05.660 All Access memberships now also include two of the irreplaceable Leftist Tears Tumblrs.

00:31:10.660 The Tumblrs are literally overflowing with tears at the thought of this offer, guys.

00:31:14.500 That's what it comes down to.

00:31:15.400 Finally, All Access members also get the benefits of our other membership tiers,

00:31:19.060 including an ad-free website experience, access to our live broadcast and show library,

00:31:23.680 access to the show's mailbags, and the full three hours of the Ben Shapiro show.

00:31:27.360 You get all of that. You couldn't ask for more. You better not ask for more, you greedy SOBs. 1.00

00:31:38.620 with coupon code Walsh right now. That's DailyWire.com slash subscribe. See you there.

00:31:44.240 Okay, so for our daily cancellation, we are once again canceling the COVID-19 Chicken Littles,

00:31:51.260 who we've canceled many times on this show. But this time, a little bit different.

00:31:55.560 We're not canceling them because they're running around screaming that the sky is falling.

00:32:00.060 Instead, we're canceling them because they're not, because they stopped doing it over the last few days.

00:32:05.220 They stopped running around and screaming.

00:32:07.460 They stopped very suddenly and very conspicuously.

00:32:10.720 And I don't think it's because they came to their senses.

00:32:13.580 If that was the reason, then the last thing I would do is cancel them.

00:32:16.980 In fact, if you're old enough to remember the bygone days of three weeks ago, or even like two weeks ago,

00:32:26.240 then maybe you could just join me for a second on a trip down memory lane.

00:32:30.840 Because back in those bad old times, the news media were quite certain that it was brazen and irresponsible

00:32:38.060 and possibly murderous even to protest during a pandemic. 0.97

00:32:42.580 You're going to kill grandma if you do it. That's what we were told. 0.97

00:32:45.880 Now, not to harp on this ancient history, but I can recall, for example, this article from Vox 0.97

00:32:53.380 assuring me that protesting under these conditions is racist because it might kill black people.

00:32:58.840 Then there was the article on PennLive, which has repeated the once common argument

00:33:03.820 that protesters shouldn't receive medical care if they get COVID-19

00:33:07.640 because they're being so reckless and irresponsible.

00:33:09.760 The Guardian warned that protesters might be spreading the virus, quote, far and wide.

00:33:15.740 Jimmy Kimmel, among others, said that protesters are, quote, suicidal.

00:33:19.780 Dr. Birx called it, quote, devastatingly worrisome that protesters would gather in the middle of an outbreak

00:33:25.240 and, you know, risk spreading it.

00:33:27.480 There are other people who call the protesters reckless and mind-bogglingly selfish.

00:33:32.600 The Washington Post assured us that demonstrators, quote, don't care about lives.

00:33:36.840 And Slate accused them of, quote, twisting the idea of liberty.

00:33:41.320 Another Washington Post op-ed compared protesters to typhoid Mary.

00:33:46.160 The weak and the nation both agreed that it's dangerous to be out rallying at a time like this.

00:33:52.200 USA Today was even more direct.

00:33:54.120 They said that protesters are, quote, risking your health.

00:33:57.940 These are just a few examples.

00:33:59.920 Many more could be offered.

00:34:00.940 But what's the use?

00:34:03.500 Because we all lived through the past three months when COVID-19 was the only thing the media cared about.

00:34:09.320 And any gathering of people of any size in any context for any reason was condemned as a heedless and foolhardy exercise in virus transmission.

00:34:19.380 Even people who simply, I mean, forget about protests.

00:34:21.440 Even people who simply went to the beach to sunbathe and wade in the water were blasted in panicky news headlines like this one from CBS.

00:34:34.100 And I'm talking about this as if we need to be reminded.

00:34:37.140 When I went away for a vacation, that's what they were saying.

00:34:40.880 I come back and all of a sudden it's like COVID-19 went away.

00:34:44.200 It's gone.

00:34:44.780 What a miracle.

00:34:45.480 Now, it's no use arguing that protests, the, quote, unquote, protests that are currently ravaging our cities are more important and more justified.

00:34:54.800 When I brought up this point online, that was the response.

00:34:58.220 They said, well, this is different because this protest is so much more important.

00:35:02.480 And so that's why they're allowed to do it and they're not going to be criticized.

00:35:05.680 Now, I hardly see mass looting as a more worthy cause than standing up against draconian and disastrous and unconstitutional lockdowns that decimated the economy and shredded the Bill of Rights.

00:35:16.940 But that's beside the point.

00:35:18.900 The point is that the very act of protesting or of forming large groups for any other reason was supposed to put many lives at risk and thus was worthy of condemnation and prohibition by the government.

00:35:32.140 And in one fell swoop, literally overnight, all of that was put to the side.

00:35:39.820 It just, it just, it's, it's like not even, it's like never happened.

00:35:44.700 Why?

00:35:45.260 Has COVID-19 gone away?

00:35:47.920 Did its method of transmission suddenly change?

00:35:51.940 Are we, I mean, did it turn into an exclusively like sexually transmitted disease or something all of a sudden?

00:35:57.440 I mean, I don't understand.

00:35:58.680 You said, forget it, but it doesn't matter what the cause is.

00:36:04.140 Let's just say for the sake of argument that these protesters are righteous in their cause and it's such an important cause and then blah, blah, blah, all the rest of it.

00:36:12.320 Okay, fine.

00:36:13.200 But they're still, they're killing each other, right? 0.59

00:36:15.620 They're killing grandma.

00:36:18.020 Isn't that a problem?

00:36:19.680 I mean, shouldn't we be talking about that?

00:36:21.480 Shouldn't the media be mentioning it?

00:36:24.240 But if you care about these protesters and you're, I mean, aren't you, if you believe that protesting during a pandemic is going to kill people, including the protesters themselves, then if you care about these protesters, wouldn't you be saying, hey, go home, don't do this?

00:36:40.340 Or again, maybe there was a miracle.

00:36:44.040 Maybe COVID-19 went away, miraculously.

00:36:46.980 Or maybe on the other hand, the media just decided to dump one narrative in favor of another for political reasons.

00:36:53.360 I think that the answer is, of course, very clear.

00:36:56.700 And the lesson that we should all take home is also clear, that if you want to protest during a pandemic, you should do it safely and responsibly by burning down buildings, stopping traffic, and beating random bystanders.

00:37:07.680 Apparently, that is the only way that you'll escape criticism if you protest during a pandemic.

00:37:11.740 Not just escape criticism, but also escape prosecution.

00:37:16.980 I mean, it's, you know, another way of putting this is you can't go to a church inside.

00:37:24.380 You can burn one to the ground, though.

00:37:27.280 That's going to be a lot safer than actually attending a church. 0.61

00:37:32.060 All right.

00:37:34.540 Now, one last thing.

00:37:36.400 And one other thing I wanted to say in lieu of emails today.

00:37:40.780 I want to close with a thought, another thought.

00:37:44.320 Not a very encouraging one, unfortunately.

00:37:47.860 Maybe more of a question, though, I guess.

00:37:49.920 And the question is this.

00:37:51.060 What we should be asking ourselves is, where do we go from here, right?

00:37:57.800 Eventually, the riots will burn themselves out, literally.

00:38:00.760 They're going to have to because it's apparent that our leaders in Washington and in the states and cities around the country have abandoned their post.

00:38:09.460 And abandoned us and will do nothing.

00:38:13.480 So that much is clear.

00:38:14.580 They're just not going to do anything.

00:38:15.560 So this is going to run its course.

00:38:19.040 And whatever damage to property and lives that will be done will be done.

00:38:22.760 And that's all there is to it.

00:38:24.380 When it ends, though, what then?

00:38:27.960 What's next?

00:38:30.400 I mean, do we start working towards unity again?

00:38:34.240 Well, unity around what?

00:38:35.980 I mean, the reality is, there are many, and this will not change, even when the riots stop.

00:38:44.260 This won't change.

00:38:45.440 That there are many people in this country who have no problem setting fires, stealing stuff, and attacking the innocent.

00:38:54.060 It's happening all over.

00:38:55.280 This is not isolated.

00:38:56.480 It's not fringe.

00:38:57.380 But even more concerning is that there are many more people who agree with those methods, who defend them, who justify them.

00:39:07.040 So I ask you, what unity can you have with people like that?

00:39:13.660 What are you unifying around?

00:39:17.400 Okay?

00:39:18.060 The people who are throwing bricks and setting fires, and then the other people who are justifying that.

00:39:23.960 You want me to unify with them?

00:39:25.600 Based on what?

00:39:28.060 I mean, just, there's got to be some unifying principle.

00:39:32.760 Now, if they suddenly and miraculously change and repent and experience a massive shift in attitude and priority, then okay, then unity will be pretty easy.

00:39:42.480 But if they remain them, and you remain you, how do you unify?

00:39:49.260 And I've been making this point for years.

00:39:52.500 You've probably heard me say it before.

00:39:56.620 There's just now an added urgency to it, I think.

00:39:59.780 Because it sounds great.

00:40:01.040 And it feels good to talk about unity, to call for it, to advocate it, and all of that.

00:40:07.580 But you have to unify around something.

00:40:10.740 There has to be some underlying and significant commonality for there to be unity, for there to be a country at all.

00:40:17.560 A real country, a real people, a real society, a real culture.

00:40:23.160 And that commonality cannot just be that we all happen to exist within the same borders.

00:40:28.300 Especially when our borders are so porous as they are.

00:40:30.940 I mean, they hardly even exist.

00:40:33.600 No, it has to be something realer and deeper than that.

00:40:36.440 Now, here would be a good unifying principle.

00:40:44.740 Shared fundamental values and priorities.

00:40:48.720 Okay?

00:40:49.280 There's something you can unify around.

00:40:51.740 Maybe you disagree about a whole lot.

00:40:53.580 You come from different backgrounds, different races, nations, creeds, and everything.

00:40:57.620 But you have these very fundamental values and priorities, and at least you have that, and you can unify around that.

00:41:07.480 And that would be something very real.

00:41:09.280 I mean, you could have a real country that way.

00:41:11.860 But we don't have that.

00:41:14.580 We don't even come close to having that.

00:41:18.300 I mean, we don't even have a shared language or any shared traditions or anything.

00:41:24.700 We share nothing in this country anymore.

00:41:28.140 And that, more than anything, is why we're seeing what we're seeing.

00:41:32.580 And why we've seen so much of what we've seen over the last, not just the last week or the last few years, but the last few decades.

00:41:40.320 There is no unifying principle.

00:41:44.420 We as a people have nothing in common.

00:41:47.120 There are pockets of people who, you know, in their own ideological tribes who have things in common.

00:41:53.680 But as a nation, nothing.

00:41:57.620 You know, I believe that probably, in my lifetime, as sad as it is to think and to say, the last moment of real unity was right after 9-11.

00:42:11.960 That's why it's been 20 years and people still talk about that. 0.93

00:42:14.520 Think about how sad and pathetic that is. 0.96

00:42:17.580 I mean, 20 years later. 0.98

00:42:18.780 And people like myself are still saying, remember right after 9-11 and people were unified?

00:42:23.400 That didn't even last very long.

00:42:24.460 It was a couple of weeks, maybe, from what I can recall.

00:42:26.480 But there was a couple of weeks, maybe a little bit longer, where everybody seemed to basically be on the same page.

00:42:33.900 And we were sharing something.

00:42:35.620 We were sharing grief.

00:42:36.820 And we, you know, wanted to get the guys who did it.

00:42:39.520 And, you know, we had that.

00:42:40.900 That was the last time.

00:42:45.920 And even tragedies now.

00:42:47.260 I mean, if there was another 9-11, I don't think there would be the same effect.

00:42:51.820 I think it would be from the very first instant, politicized, tribalized.

00:42:57.580 I don't have the answer.

00:43:02.240 This is just a question.

00:43:03.120 It's something we need to start thinking about.

00:43:06.420 You know, we may come to a point where there are some very hard realities that we just have to face.

00:43:16.000 And maybe one of those realities is that we just can't be one country.

00:43:21.360 We just can't.

00:43:22.480 We're not.

00:43:23.220 We can't.

00:43:23.740 I mean, if you're someone who would justify what we're seeing happening right now and would promote it.

00:43:35.360 I mean, not to mention, if you're in that camp, you're probably also in the camp of thinking that babies aren't people.

00:43:41.200 You know, 60 million dead babies is something to celebrate.

00:43:44.400 Not to mention, you also probably think that, you know, like the categories of men and women don't exist.

00:43:49.700 My point is, you're just somebody in a whole different, forget about a different country, you're in a different universe from me.

00:43:56.200 I don't even know what universe you're in.

00:43:57.820 I don't know what reality you're in.

00:44:00.520 You might as well be an alien from a different galaxy.

00:44:04.420 That's how different you are from me and how little I have in common with you.

00:44:12.600 And frankly, if I could live on a different planet from you, I would.

00:45:17.960 Race riots, looting, arson, Black Lives Matter, Antifa, all sorts of mayhem overtaking cities coast-to-coast this weekend, spreading misery and chaos.

00:45:27.480 But on the bright side, since no one cares about social distancing anymore, the unrest seems to have cured coronavirus.

00:45:33.120 Then, the mainstream media recast Black Lives Matter and Antifa anarchists as white supremacists,

00:45:38.220 which put white liberals in a tough spot since they were all raising money to bail out the alleged white supremacists from jail.
