The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 553 - An Uprising Of Spoiled Rotten Brats

00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Wall Show, why are our cities being consumed by chaos? What's really driving

00:00:04.980 this? That's the million dollar question. It isn't a fight for racial justice or anything

00:00:08.680 close to that. These are spoiled brats who've never contributed anything of value to society, 1.00

00:00:13.580 lashing out against normal, hardworking Americans. That's my diagnosis. We'll talk 1.00

00:00:18.020 more about it. Also, five headlines, including crazed mobs swarming Rand Paul and other Republicans

00:00:22.220 as they leave the Republican convention in D.C. last night. And we'll discuss the most powerful

00:00:27.180 moment of the entire convention and what we can learn from it. All of that coming up.

00:00:31.420 Much more as well. It's a packed show, as always. One thing about living in the dying days of a

00:00:35.640 civilization is there's always a lot of news. That's the one positive. So let's start here.

00:00:40.840 Last night, as the RNC convention concluded, rioters and protesters again descended on D.C.

00:00:46.080 and they comported themselves about how you might expect them to. Here's a quick taste of the action.

00:00:57.180 Yes, yes, that was a guy flipping off, running up to and flipping off a small elderly woman as she

00:01:26.440 tried to cross the street. Some of us were raised to help old ladies cross the street. Leftist

00:01:31.460 protesters were raised to flip them bird and scream in their faces as they cross the street. Just a 0.68

00:01:36.460 different approach, I suppose. Who am I to judge? Of course, in reality, these people weren't raised at

00:01:42.280 all. That's the problem. Certainly not by fathers or any other steady male role model. These are spoiled

00:01:48.420 rotten brats more than anything else. That's what they are. Now, similar scenes unfolded in D.C. 0.99

00:01:53.680 over the night, including a gang of rioters swarming Rand Paul as he left the venue.

00:01:57.920 Say her name! Say her name! Say her name! Say her name! 1.00

00:02:04.920 Say her name! 1.00

00:02:05.940 Move back! 0.99

00:02:06.920 Move back! 0.99

00:02:07.920 Move back! 0.99

00:02:08.920 Y'all can take pictures and run up, but y'all gotta go up to move.

00:02:11.920 Move back! 0.99

00:02:12.920 Thank you, thank you! 1.00

00:02:13.920 F*** you! 1.00

00:02:14.920 Thank you, thank you! 1.00

00:02:15.920 F*** you! 1.00

00:02:16.920 F*** you! 1.00

00:02:17.920 F*** you! 1.00

00:02:18.920 Move back! 1.00

00:02:19.920 You move the f*** back! 1.00

00:02:21.920 F*** you! 1.00

00:02:23.640 Move back! 1.00

00:02:24.600 Move back! 1.00

00:02:40.640 F*** you! 1.00

00:02:43.420 so you notice how there how the the senator stops in the middle of the mayhem to make sure that the 1.00

00:02:55.860 police officer is okay that's because senator paul whatever you think of his policies and politics

00:03:00.460 is an honorable and decent man this provides a stark contrast with the crowd surrounding him

00:03:06.440 where there is no honor or decency to be found anywhere at all so the question again is raised 0.92

00:03:12.140 the enduring question what the hell is going on why is this happening why are these lunatics acting

00:03:17.880 like this all the time everywhere and that question is one that um and has there are many answers to it

00:03:24.820 and one that anthropologists and historians of the future will be studying and debate and debating

00:03:29.000 as they sift through the ashes of our civilization trying to figure out what destroyed it what i'd

00:03:33.700 like to do now is suggest one answer or at least part of an answer at least and um i still think

00:03:38.740 that the most revealing thing we've seen of all the video of all the footage of these people

00:03:44.080 destroying and burning and assaulting and killing the thing that best captured it all was the blm 1.00

00:03:50.100 activist in chicago justifying the looting by calling it reparations but there was something else she said

00:03:55.780 that got even closer to the heart of the issue i think i played this clip probably three times on the

00:04:00.240 show already i'm going to play it again i'm going to keep playing it because i think it's that important

00:04:03.740 let's let's play one more time here i don't care if somebody decides to loot a gucci or a macy's

00:04:10.960 or a nike because that makes sure that that person eats that makes sure that that person has clothes

00:04:16.680 that makes sure that that person can make some kind of money because this city obviously doesn't care

00:04:20.980 about them not only that that's reparations that is reparations anything they want to take take it

00:04:28.520 because these businesses have insurance they're gonna get their money back my people aren't getting

00:04:33.480 anything these businesses have insurance she assures us we're entitled to take what we want

00:04:39.080 these businesses will be fine now let's check in with a business owner an actual business owner to

00:04:45.540 see how they feel about it this is from the rioters the riots in kenosha uh first you'll see an older

00:04:49.840 older one woman surveying the wreckage after the business that she ran with her husband for decades

00:04:54.220 was looted and burned and then you see her son talking about how devastating this is to his family

00:04:59.200 watch

00:04:59.820 it's not justifiable we have insurance yeah but the insurance

00:05:29.720 isn't there so somebody can destroy and your things and say oh well there's insurance

00:05:36.040 um you you pay for that you know we pay for insurance that causes insurance rates to go up

00:05:42.480 it's basically that they just stole from us whoever did this stole from us and that raises the cost of

00:05:49.940 everything cost of living goes up because of that cost of insurance goes up when when insurance

00:05:56.300 claims have to be made i don't think it's justified for anyone to ruin anybody else's property it's

00:06:02.640 against the law they'll be put in prison and order have to be paid made to pay back what they've

00:06:08.180 destroyed letting these people get away with this and holding the cops hands where they can't do

00:06:12.480 nothing that's wrong that cops need to be able to do their job and and you're not doing this isn't

00:06:18.900 going to bring is it going to help your cause in other words no you can't just use your insurance

00:06:26.460 and make everything go back to normal the devastation is real it is felt and these are people who are

00:06:32.800 innocent who did nothing wrong and were made victims the man you saw there and his parents

00:06:38.920 these are just one of the thousands and thousands and thousands of innocent victims over the past three

00:06:43.700 months business owners homeowners everything in their lives taken from them sometimes life itself

00:06:48.700 taken from them as was the case with david dorn we'll talk about that later on but the reason i play

00:06:55.480 that clip of the blm woman in chicago talking about insurance this is a very common theme rioters and

00:07:00.620 looters across the country have been using this line for weeks oh they have insurance uh these people

00:07:05.220 have no idea how insurance works or what it even is the reason i play it is that it shows that the

00:07:10.940 the the rioters they simply don't understand why business owners would be distressed to see their

00:07:16.760 whole life's work go up in flames they cannot wrap their puny minds around it and uh the rioters

00:07:24.660 the reason is that the rioters have never done anything of value in their entire lives they cannot relate 0.89

00:07:30.480 to the feelings of productive humans these are societal leeches spoiled brats who have the luxury to 1.00

00:07:38.060 spend their nights burning and destroying and can enjoy it because they've never experienced the 0.73

00:07:43.100 real earned joy of building something of value or doing anything of value at all period we have to

00:07:49.960 understand you know this is what we're dealing with here this isn't an uprising of the non-contributors

00:07:55.340 against the contributors of the unproductive against the productive of the brats against the adults

00:08:03.620 the real adults of the entitled do nothings against the doers it is a class war but it is not a war

00:08:10.960 between poor and rich that's another thing we have to emphasize again and again and again the people

00:08:15.660 who are losing everything the people who have been destroyed by all of this uh these for the most part

00:08:21.020 are not rich people they're not even upper class or well off or whatever term you want to use these

00:08:25.520 are mostly blue collar working class average ordinary americans going back to kenosha for a second

00:08:30.220 here's a man working man trying his hardest to explain to the rioters that they're destroying

00:08:35.620 the lives of innocent hard-working people and there's no reason to do it but he may as well 0.95

00:08:39.480 be talking to a wall because it just doesn't register watch that's what y'all don't f***ing 0.97

00:08:45.160 understand is that people have their lives in these businesses we don't know what we pay for that

00:08:50.980 we pay for that we pay for that we pay for that so what just because y'all are too scared to go deal with

00:08:56.680 the cops that's going to burn the whole town yeah yeah yeah yeah and then y'all got mazed and s*** like that

00:09:01.520 and all that stuff take your issues up with them

00:09:05.380 no it's do you know how many people a furniture store is the police a furniture store is the police

00:09:12.780 a deal i didn't say s*** about the furniture i'm talking about the po wall this is a state-owned building bro

00:09:19.020 they just can't comprehend what he's trying to say what burning down a furniture store won't help

00:09:42.440 spread racial awareness and tell it huh what are you talking about these are people utterly

00:09:48.000 disconnected from reality and it's a great privilege to be disconnected from reality most of us cannot

00:09:53.200 afford to be that is why this is not poor versus rich many of the rioters are more privileged than

00:09:59.160 their victims and we've been setting the stage for this for a long time a culture and system of

00:10:05.400 entitlement which coddles and enables and insulates and breeds ultimately a generation of bored disaffected

00:10:12.000 feckless disengaged brats morally misshapen from bad parenting or near total lack of parenting 0.85

00:10:18.780 and their minds rotted from lives spent ingesting 10 hours of media a day why do they riot then is it 0.95

00:10:25.080 anger is it hunger for justice is it a fight for freedom no it's obviously none of those there is

00:10:29.800 zero connection between what we see in the streets and racial justice they do it because it's something

00:10:35.000 to do and because they have aggression and have no idea where else to direct it they've gotten bored

00:10:39.200 with video games and because they're envious envious of people who have who live real productive lives

00:10:44.940 and because they can nobody's stopping them nobody's ever stopped them from doing anything

00:10:50.020 and so they never learned boundaries or limitations or how to be decent civilized humans

00:10:55.000 what can we do about it now well in the in the immediate in the short term overwhelming police

00:11:00.580 response overpower subdue them lock many of them in prison for years punish them severely but the

00:11:07.140 long-term answers are much more difficult i mean this after all is the culmination of generations

00:11:12.240 of moral malformation it will take generations to undo it so a lot of work lies before us but i would say

00:11:21.140 that now is a good as time good a time as any to begin doing it let's go to our five headlines

00:11:27.880 well as we'll talk about here in a second the rnc has come to a close and so begins the final phase

00:11:39.260 of the 2020 election presidential hopeful joe biden head-to-head against incumbent donald trump

00:11:43.680 tonight we're going to completely recap the rnc for you on daily wire backstage at 7 p.m eastern

00:11:49.020 4 p.m pacific we're going to review the highlights of the conference compare the rnc's performance to dnc

00:11:53.980 from last week as well as the insane reactions from the left um as we just saw some of that and

00:11:58.340 all access members you can join us afterwards for another all access live where we'll discuss it all

00:12:02.500 with you personally in the comments and the live stream um only all access members get to join the

00:12:07.580 all access live session so go become an all access member right now go to dailywire.com slash

00:12:13.200 walsh right now to get 20 off all access dailywire.com slash walsh 20 20 off all access okay

00:12:20.440 so uh final night of the rnc convention the most powerful speech hands down out without question

00:12:26.760 my opinion and dorn wife of david dorn retired captain murdered during the riots i'll have more

00:12:32.620 to say about that in the next segment for now um you know you could tell the convention was overall

00:12:38.020 a success because of what democrats are latching on to what they've chosen to focus on you know

00:12:43.460 um they've been on social media and on tv trying to fire people up over the fact that the rnc

00:12:48.660 allegedly violated the hatch act by involving the white house in their in their convention

00:12:53.760 um yes because while crazed mobs are burning down our cities they want us to worry about the hatch act

00:13:00.520 meanwhile nobody knows what the hatch act is i got news for you and nobody cares if you explain it to

00:13:07.000 them they still don't care um and i don't think anyone is going to the polls on election day super

00:13:11.540 passionate about the hatch act i don't think anyone's going the hatch act act must be protected the hatch act

00:13:17.120 um no i don't i don't see that it's just doesn't it doesn't quite work for a rallying cry

00:13:23.480 and then uh also of course we're told that the crowd at trump's speech violated social distancing

00:13:30.520 which again give me a break you don't get to worry about that or point that out while you cheer on 0.80

00:13:36.680 these enormous writhing collections of screaming lunatics walking around the city spraying their 0.93

00:13:42.420 disease ridden spittle all over everybody okay you can't it just so that that doesn't stick either 0.96

00:13:47.360 it doesn't work um as for trump's actual speech well it was 876 minutes long he i think at one point he

00:13:55.760 actually read the entire script of gone with the wind as an attack on political correctness which i

00:14:01.300 thought that was an interesting choice so it was long um the content was uh you know it's pretty good

00:14:05.540 i don't think anyone remembered it 30 seconds after it was over nobody remembers anything 30 seconds

00:14:10.460 after it's over the sun could explode today and by tomorrow we'll all be bored with the topic we'll

00:14:15.480 also be dead mercifully but also bored um so that was the rc convention let's move on number two the

00:14:22.840 squads ringo iana presley is is added again i regret to inform you uh this is what she tweeted

00:14:29.560 a 17 year old white supremacist domestic terrorist drove across state lines armed with an ar-15 0.79

00:14:36.040 he shot and killed two people who had assembled to affirm the value dignity and worth of black lives 1.00

00:14:41.280 fix your damn headlines okay nothing in that tweet is accurate let's just be clear about that 0.99

00:14:50.280 it is one falsehood after another stacked on top of each other if she had a dime for every falsehood 0.99

00:14:55.720 in that tweet she would have well at least 20 or 30 cents which incidentally should be the yearly 0.88

00:15:02.300 salary of members of congress in my opinion in any case there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever at

00:15:08.320 all anywhere that kyle rittenhouse is a white supremacist no evidence of it no reason to claim 0.95

00:15:14.500 it other than you're just a lying hack um in fact there is positive evidence against the assertion 0.96

00:15:22.900 that he's a white supremacist based on the videos of him earlier in the night where he's talking about 0.98

00:15:27.360 the reason why he's there he never says anything about race at all he just says he's there to protect

00:15:32.100 private property so this is a lie straight up and i hope to god that kyle um what he beats hopefully

00:15:39.280 if he beats this charge if he's innocent of the charge and beats it um that he can then go and

00:15:44.900 sue this lying hack into bankruptcy because this is just you're you're a member of congress and this is a

00:15:53.080 17 year old and you're out there with no basis at all calling him a white supremacist 0.84

00:15:58.380 if that doesn't count as slander um then i don't know what possibly could okay now um oh and then

00:16:09.860 also of course so what are the other falsehoods in the tweet let's not just cover let's not cover just

00:16:13.920 the one the people who were shot there is no evidence that any of them were assembled to affirm

00:16:20.880 the dignity of black life um there's no evidence really that any of the protesters give the slightest

00:16:26.100 damn about that much less the protesters quote unquote who were chasing kyle rittenhouse and

00:16:31.860 trying to harm or kill him one of them did have a gun after all now as i've been saying all all week 0.99

00:16:37.420 all of the evidence we currently have and have seen points to kyle rittenhouse shooting in self-defense

00:16:44.400 after attending the protest to defend property from rioters and insurrectionists and being attacked

00:16:48.700 by them that's all the evidence we've seen if if there's some other piece of evidence out there

00:16:56.020 i haven't seen it i don't think anybody else has at least not anybody in the public if ayanna presley

00:17:00.540 has some other piece of evidence she's withholding she should produce it but i don't think she does 0.82

00:17:06.120 i think she's just a liar and a disgrace to the country a democrat in other words but nobody has 0.94

00:17:12.400 produced any evidence so far publicly um that he did anything but defend himself from people who 0.96

00:17:21.140 are attacking him of course that doesn't stop people from just going around and saying that

00:17:24.980 he's a murderer anyway okay um number three wisconsin lieutenant governor mandela barnes has spoken out

00:17:32.360 about the jacob lake shooting and uh here's what he has to say listen but as the governor said uh dci's

00:17:40.200 investigation is ongoing but we don't need an investigation to know that blake shooting falls

00:17:45.360 in a long and painful pattern of violence and this is a pattern of violence that happens uh against

00:17:52.160 black lives too often across this country and as you all know we saw even more gun violence unfold on

00:17:58.880 tuesday night when two protesters were tragically killed and one other injured by gunshots someone that

00:18:05.960 wasn't looking to keep peace an outside agitator someone who came in from illinois with a long

00:18:11.560 rifle was able to just walk the streets freely like that's something normal that we should just come

00:18:15.620 to expect let me tell you that's not anything normal we shouldn't come to expect that we shouldn't

00:18:19.760 accept it because what do you think is going to happen if you have an agitated man with a long gun

00:18:25.700 walking down the streets thinking that he's some sort of peacekeeper and that kind of behavior

00:18:30.620 shouldn't be enabled either and we have to deal with the devastating results of that uh we saw that

00:18:37.240 happen in louisville already we saw it happen in charlottesville somebody ran their vehicle into

00:18:41.980 protesters and had their hire was killed now kenosha wisconsin is also home to that sort of tragic scene

00:18:49.380 we have to not ever want to see that happen again we don't need an investigation he says we don't

00:18:57.380 need an investigation uh is we don't need investigation to know that blake shooting falls

00:19:01.740 in a long and painful pattern of violence and this is a pattern of violence that happens against black

00:19:05.160 lives too often across the country um that's that's what he says there so we don't need an investigation

00:19:10.980 no you don't do you mandela uh you you really don't i mean you you you don't you don't require that

00:19:17.560 as a democrat truly we don't need an investigation should be the 2020 democrat campaign motto it should

00:19:24.840 also be the epitaph on the this our civilization's gravestone of course in reality yes you really do

00:19:32.840 need an investigation and you know we can keep saying it over and over again i know it just like

00:19:40.260 it doesn't even matter because the people saying this don't care about the truth but um connecting

00:19:46.080 this so there there are two levels of of again we got two levels of falsehood uh one is to just flat

00:19:53.560 out say that this was a murder by the police officers when once again all the evidence that

00:19:58.740 we really have available which would seem to indicate that uh the opposite is the case that

00:20:04.460 jacob blake was violently resisting arrest had a weapon in his possession apparently either in the car

00:20:11.020 that he was reaching into or he already was holding it one of those two um he was you know wanted

00:20:16.940 domestic abuser there on the scene uh apparently terrorizing his girlfriend stole her keys you know

00:20:23.780 all of that all the information coming out is lining up in in the corner of the police officer

00:20:29.740 vindicating the police officer uh so there's that but then also whatever you think about

00:20:36.840 the shooting there's just no reason at all to think that this has anything to do with race

00:20:43.360 uh of course we we automatically connect it to that but there's nothing no one has presented a

00:20:51.680 shred of evidence for that yet um the lieutenant governor is is ready to say but he doesn't matter

00:20:58.700 he doesn't the investigation racist murderer first degree murder hate crime federal prison he's ready

00:21:04.860 to say that right away okay uh speaking of hate crimes here's a real one number four a story you

00:21:11.160 aren't going to hear on the national news and uh haven't heard but the report is from nine news

00:21:15.860 the nbc affiliate in aurora colorado says aurora police arrested a man suspected of stabbing another

00:21:20.580 man after yelling black lives matter tuesday evening near uh east alameda avenue and south

00:21:27.260 sable boulevard steve sinclair 30 now faces potential first degree murder and hate crime charge

00:21:31.980 uh charges documents show um an arrest affidavit says sinclair uses a knife to stab 29 year old michael

00:21:40.740 connor who was transported to the hospital for injuries and a collapsed lung so it says first

00:21:44.800 degree murder i assume attempted murder because i don't think fortunately his victim survived it

00:21:48.880 looks like connor a white male told police at the hospital that sinclair a black male shied at black

00:21:54.060 lives matter prior to stabbing him according to the report it's unclear from the report what may have

00:22:00.260 led up to the incident but police say that witnesses saw sinclair walk up to connor and said i'm going to

00:22:05.040 kill you and your dog one witness said connor tried to run away and defended himself with a stick

00:22:10.540 um and then uh officers on the scene showed up off one officer wrote that sinclair had his hands up 1.00

00:22:17.060 when the officers came and said i stabbed him i'm a psychopath accurate assessment it seems 0.54

00:22:22.460 um and uh now he's arrested and they're looking at right attempted first degree murder attempted first

00:22:29.840 and uh bias motivated crime causing bodily injury now goes without saying we don't even need to say

00:22:35.340 it at this point but obviously if this was a black man uh being stabbed by a white guy shouting white

00:22:42.620 power or whatever uh this would be news everywhere cnn will be covering it it'd be the only thing we

00:22:47.900 talked about for the next five or six days so we all we all know that now one one uh way that i think

00:22:55.680 people are going to try to mitigate this is is by saying well this is just a crazy guy 0.82

00:22:59.720 you know he says i stabbed him i'm a psychopath right so this is just a this is just an insane 0.95

00:23:05.880 person and it's got nothing to do with black lives matter or hate crime or whatever and the thing is

00:23:11.040 as i have said many times in i in an ideal scenario we wouldn't have the hate crime designation at all

00:23:20.460 precisely for this reason because it's it's okay he stabbed the guy he's an innocent guy

00:23:25.560 just he leaps out and stabs him tries to kill him that's attempted first degree murder i does it

00:23:30.920 really even matter you know uh in a vacuum um considered on its own without does it really even

00:23:38.880 matter if he motivated by hate or motivated by he just felt like stabbing someone who cares either

00:23:44.620 way he tried to stab it should be the exact same penalty when you try to get inside someone's head

00:23:49.480 and heart and figure out what emotions led them to this it just seems like an absurd sort of

00:23:54.680 uh thing to even attempt in the first place but since we have the hate crime we shouldn't have it

00:24:00.420 but since we do since we have this category then it has you have to try to apply it equally and 0.89

00:24:05.420 obviously this falls right into the hate crime category but in any case uh he's a crazy guy maybe he was 0.62

00:24:12.600 okay well see what do you think is going to happen if you've got crazy people out there 0.90

00:24:20.840 and you're telling them all of these wild fantastical stories about systemic racism and how you know cops 0.98

00:24:32.260 and white people are out just hunting black people gunning them down in the street it's false it's not 0.99

00:24:37.120 true what do you think is going to happen when you tell a lie like that to a violent crazy person 0.99

00:24:43.240 as we've seen there are a lot of people who are not clinically insane and we see how they react to it

00:24:49.900 so this if this was a crazy guy um by no means is black lives matter absolved in fact they're they're

00:24:58.640 they are implicated even more for driving um for for helping to motivate and drive this okay five

00:25:06.660 from wral in north carolina it says a man was driving his tesla on autopilot mode early wednesday when he

00:25:12.380 nearly missed hitting a nash county deputy standing outside his cruiser uh dave devander goley a doctor

00:25:19.620 was in was in the tesla watching a movie on his cell phone while his car drove itself the tesla

00:25:26.040 apparently not though because the tesla collided with the deputy's car first which then pushed into

00:25:29.800 the state highway patrol car from the impact um fortunately it seems like nobody was uh seriously

00:25:37.920 hurt goley works at halifax regional medical center was driving back to raleigh when the accident

00:25:42.980 occurred he was charged with a move with a move over violation and viewing a television device while

00:25:48.140 driving i had no idea that was against the law i'll keep that in mind for the future the tesla's

00:25:54.800 marketed as having full self-driving capabilities and is created using artificial intelligence

00:25:59.360 technology um but here's here's the part this is what we get to this this this is the this is the

00:26:05.920 headline tesla's website says that autopilot still requires attention from the driver the website says

00:26:11.820 current autopilot features uh require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous

00:26:17.480 so what the hell is the point of that then it's autopilot but i still have to sit there and watch

00:26:21.560 what's happening literally the only point of autopilot is so that you can watch youtube while

00:26:25.960 driving i don't see any other reason to have it and if you can't do that then it's worthless i could

00:26:29.780 invent my own autopilot i just put a cinder block on the on the gas pedal and it'll just go forward by

00:26:34.800 itself well i mean i still have to be there to to drive it apparently that's oh look at the technology

00:26:39.160 why does it seem like all the futuristic technology this is my point all this futuristic technology that we

00:26:45.480 have never seems to live up to the hype you hear you know self-driving car and it turns out you still

00:26:52.180 you still need to drive it so it's not self-driving you hear there's a new robot and you see a video

00:26:57.240 there's some honda or whatever unveiled a new robot and you're really excited about it and then you you

00:27:02.360 turn on the video and it's just a hunk of metal that waddles around and bangs into walls you hear

00:27:08.120 they're launching someone into space and you think oh maybe they're going to pluto no they're just going

00:27:12.200 to the to the space station which is five or six feet in the air according to science uh nothing

00:27:18.720 ever lives up to the hype and of course as i say that while i sit here at my desk there is the

00:27:23.960 internet which grants me access to the accumulated knowledge of mankind and can instantly give me any

00:27:29.180 information i want but who cares about that can't even shoot laser beams or anything um let's do a

00:27:35.820 bonus story i did want to play this for you because i thought this was this was an important

00:27:39.260 important political story a man in blackface attended the dc protests last night for unclear

00:27:44.180 reasons but um it uh didn't go well for him surprisingly watch

00:27:49.100 and i will bring this for you right now

00:28:02.660 on work.

00:28:32.660 Wow. All I can say is that the man who assaulted Governor Northam must face severe consequences.

00:28:42.700 We cannot attack our elected leaders like that. That was the Northam joke. I had to throw it in

00:28:47.760 there. All right, let's get to our daily cancellation. Okay, I don't have a daily

00:28:50.940 cancellation today. If you'll forgive me, I did lie just there. The cancellation is canceled just

00:28:54.860 for today. And I am no doubt canceled for canceling it. I understand that. But the reason

00:28:58.680 is that I want to carve out some time for some positive recognition for a change of someone who

00:29:04.000 really deserves it. And there's a larger point I want to make as well. But we'll start with,

00:29:08.760 as mentioned before, Ann Dorn, the wife of Captain David Dorn, who was the retired police captain

00:29:14.420 gunned down by rioters. The entire speech that she gave at the RNC convention last night is five

00:29:19.540 minutes. Well worth your time to watch. I would highly recommend that you go to YouTube or Twitter

00:29:23.320 or wherever and find the video and watch the whole thing. I can't play the whole thing here, of course,

00:29:27.460 course. But here's a quick piece of it. After I'd gone to bed, David received a call from Lee's

00:29:34.360 Alarm Company. The front door of the pawn shop had been breached. This time he didn't wake me up to

00:29:41.140 tell me. He probably knew I would have tried to stop him or insist on going with him. As I slept,

00:29:53.380 looters were ransacking the shop. They shot and killed David in cold blood. And then live streamed his

00:30:01.960 execution and his last moments on earth. David's grandson was watching the video on Facebook in real

00:30:11.040 time, not realizing he was watching his own grandfather dying on the sidewalk.

00:30:16.960 I learned of all this around 4 a.m. when our doorbell rang. The chief of police was standing

00:30:27.100 outside. I wondered why Dave had not answered the door. It wasn't uncommon for him to be up watching

00:30:33.740 TV at this time. I called out to him several times. There was no reply. He just wasn't there.

00:30:41.440 I let in the chief. And fighting back tears, he uttered the words, every officer's spouse dreads.

00:30:53.780 I relived that horror in my mind every single day.

00:30:59.020 So that's powerful, gut-wrenching, horrific, also inspiring. Inspiring because of the courage it took

00:31:04.420 for her to stand there and tell that story, if you can only imagine, you know, having to tell that story

00:31:08.820 about your spouse. And inspiring because of the courage and decency of her husband.

00:31:13.020 Now, before Anne recounts the murder itself, she explains that her husband, David,

00:31:17.740 you know, was the kind of guy who made friends everywhere he went. He befriended years ago a

00:31:21.040 child whose family had been murdered. And eventually the child named Lee grew up, opened a pawn shop,

00:31:27.680 and he asked David to help him with security for the pawn shop. And this is something that David did

00:31:33.000 just to help a friend. He would get up in the middle of the night, go check on things whenever the

00:31:36.660 alarm went off. And really think about that. It seems like a small thing perhaps, but think about

00:31:41.640 doing this, being on call as security when you're retired, even going out in the middle of the night,

00:31:47.760 just out of the kindness of your heart, as a gesture of friendship. You really know everything

00:31:52.200 you need to know about David Dorn based solely on that one detail of his life. This is a thoroughly

00:31:57.220 decent man. His death was an outrage, a tragedy, an injustice. Yes, it is also an injustice. Committed

00:32:04.440 committed first by the piece of trash who pulled the trigger, but also by the state and local elected 0.98

00:32:08.380 officials who refused to do their job and maintain law and order. His blood is on their hands too, 0.99

00:32:13.420 without a doubt. But here's the startling fact. A great many people in this country do not really

00:32:21.120 feel outraged by David Dorn's death. They don't consider it an injustice worthy of protest or even

00:32:26.840 moderate attention. It's not an exaggeration to say that the only deaths that enrage some people in

00:32:33.100 this country are the deaths of violent criminals who resist arrest. It's difficult to fathom such a

00:32:38.820 mentality if you're a mentally healthy person, but that is the mentality of many people. And there are

00:32:44.320 consequences to that. As humans, we become what we aspire to. We emulate our heroes. We follow in the

00:32:50.560 footsteps of our leaders. We are inspired and motivated by our martyrs, whichever martyrs we choose to

00:32:57.140 raise up and honor. And every culture has martyrs. So what happens to our society then when we tear

00:33:02.940 down the statues of our historical heroes and we choose to ignore modern day heroes and martyrs like

00:33:08.060 David Dorn, and instead we choose to honor men like George Floyd and Jacob Blake. Floyd was a violent

00:33:14.520 criminal and drug addict who forced his way into a woman's home, put a gun to her stomach. Jacob Blake was 0.99

00:33:19.460 an accused domestic and sexual abuser, apparently terrorizing his girlfriend when the cops arrived.

00:33:23.120 These are the men we elevate? Well, one thing is for sure. We could say, absolutely. The Me Too era

00:33:29.360 is officially over then. It's been over for a while. Now it's officially over. We cannot still be in the

00:33:33.760 Me Too era while making martyrs out of violent abusers of women. Now, it's true that just because

00:33:40.100 someone was a bad guy that doesn't automatically make their death or injury at the hands of police

00:33:44.480 justified, the justification or lack of justification for that comes from their behavior and choices in the

00:33:51.400 moment when police try to arrest them. So what do they do then? That's what matters. And whatever

00:33:56.160 else you think about these cases, there's no doubt that both Floyd and Blake made monumentally horrible

00:34:02.020 choices in those moments. But if you think someone's death was wrong or unjust, you can make the case

00:34:09.720 for that without making martyrs and heroes out of them, without acting as though whatever happened to

00:34:14.720 them is one of the great tragedies of American history, without explicitly or implicitly elevating them

00:34:20.480 over men like David Dorn. It's one thing to say, you know, I think the police did the wrong thing in

00:34:25.460 this case. It's another thing to paint a mural of a career criminal and a violent abuser or go around

00:34:29.780 claiming that he was a family man and pillar of the community. When you take the latter route, you turn

00:34:36.940 them into role models. And that matters. That really has an impact. That does something. And it isn't good.

00:34:46.540 This is not something that we do in a vacuum. There are consequences here. When you walk around the city

00:34:53.700 and you see murals of George Floyd, again, a violent criminal, not a good man by any reasonable

00:35:04.880 definition, that is honoring him. That is not speaking out against a supposed injustice or simply

00:35:13.440 protesting something that the police did. That is honoring the man. And when we honor men like that,

00:35:20.440 what happens? You get a lot more men like that. And a lot fewer men like David Dorn.

00:35:29.980 Those are the consequences. But that's why I would recommend that you watch that. And,

00:35:34.960 and, you know, as much as, as much as possible, if we can focus on the focus on, you know,

00:35:42.160 I think we need to elevate positive examples as much as we can to counterbalance all of this craziness.

00:35:48.800 So we'll leave it there for today. Thanks for watching. Everybody. Thanks for listening. Have
